Listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Welcome inside, Happy Thursday, The Jason Smith.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Show with my bas friend Mike Harmon Dressed Hobo.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
For over forty years, tire Rack's been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Shipped fast and free, backed by free Road, has a
protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac
dot com is the way tire baing should be. Well,
you think I'm nervous, you think I'm gripping, you think
I'm crazy, I'm not.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
I've already accepted the Knicks will break my heart.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh the fact they've given up a ten point lead
and are gonna do this again now, losing to the
Pistons one oh five, one oh three with five minutes left.
I've accepted it. Mike Carmen, I go, you know, the
thing is getting older. I kind of go right to acceptance.
I don't go through all those different stages. I just like, yeah,
you know, it just got me to let me hit
the button on the TVL fast forward times four, times five,
times six, and I go right to acceptance.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
It's funny because we had an exchange a little bit earlier,
and it was a reminder of something from the past
that says, surprise, you don't hold a grudge over it.
And my response was too damn old. Either the list
is too long, or I'm too old to care. I
paused a second, and I said, really, it's because I'm
too old to give a damn same thing here. You know,
(01:41):
you ride the highs and lows as best you can,
but at some point you got to accept your fate
as a New York Knicks fan that there was going
to be a run.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Now we're having a nine minute review.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Overwhelms a blocking file, a blocking file with five and
a half minutes left to go in this is insane.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Five and a half minutes left to go.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
This is this is like if a if a receiver
is out of bounds in the end zone with eight
seconds left in the Super Bowl kind of review that
did dude make.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Contact with him or not? Yes, it's a fall, Yeah,
so what.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Doesn't have to be I slug you upside the head.
He got him with the body you called the block.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Move on.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Pistons lead. Pistons lead the Nicks one oh five, one
oh three. Jalen Brunson going in for a layup, Tim
Hardaway Junior gets called for a blocking foul the coach
There was a coach's challenged by JB.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Bickerstaff.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
With five and a half left to go, we're waiting
to get the final outcome here and it looks like
it's gonna be reversed and the Pistons are gonna get
the basketball. They're gonna rule that Jalen Brunson kind of tripped,
so they win the challenge and now with five and
a half left to go, one o five, one oh three,
Pistons with the lead home Cook.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
No, that's ridiculous. I mean, look, was he been out
of control? Sure, there's still is a gality to it
and a body on him, but hey, the officials get
paid for a reason, and with a big run, sometimes
they get caught up in the emotion of things.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Hey, we want we want game seven. We want Game
seven in the in the greatest arena in the world.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
I'm gonna say it with all the sincerity of a
forty year old basketball player talking about getting kicked off
a team or traded or deposed because he suggests they
need a center. I mean, that's where I'm at, like
all sincerity all the time.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Yeah, and now, as if things couldn't get any worse,
so they go to jump the ball, right because obviously
coaches challenge.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Here was a loose ball. So they go to jump
and it gets knocked out of bounds.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Karl Anthony Towns is now bent over at the waist,
not feeling great after, and Tim Hardaway Junior is screaming
about something. So, yeah, this is gonna be a final
five minutes. It's gonna be something. Karl Anthony Towns continues
to grab his chest. I don't know if he strained
a muscle or got punched or got hit, but uh,
he definitely looks like he's moving a step slow here
(04:06):
for a couple time.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
I want to see the review of that, Like, what
the hell happened? All of a sudden, The.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
I'm looking at the replane now, and it looks like
he goes up and maybe.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
He gets me in the side. Yeah, it looks like
he gets hitting the side.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
It looks like he gets extended to where. Yeah, that
did not look comfortable. I think he had too many
sandwiches at the bodega.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Stop. There's no you know, you had too many sandwiches.
Not enough points for him tonight? Uh?
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Yeah, he does only have nine, nine and twelve on
the Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Not not not great, Bob, not great, Jason.
Speaker 6 (04:38):
You got to let people know where the sandwiches are from.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Sorry, the sandwiches are from the bodega's big, big bodega sands.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Uh some size?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, well, well you can't have big bodega and it'd
be a small I mean, come on, it's like me
going to McDonald's and going, what would you like?
Speaker 3 (04:54):
So, yeah, I want a regular sizel. You don't want
a super size?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
No, no, give me the smallest fries, you have the
smallest drinks, everything, Give me all.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
But isn't there the whole.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Thing where if you take a small fry and you
put it in the large container, it's really actually the
same fries.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Oh I never did that before.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
MS in the big one.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
I mean, you get a nice box as opposed to
a little bag, so psychologically you're feeling a lot better
about your purchase.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Or you feel like, hey,
I had the small fries. I'm feeling the same exactly.
Like I feel like that would be an easy thing
to figure out, right, Like that'd be an easy thing
to go. Okay, well here, I'm going to get a
small and a big fry. I'm gonna see if there's
enough small fry in the big fry and same thing.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Well, I mean, could you do it with sodas and
coffee cups or whatever else based on the shape of
the cup and where it gets wider versus narrower and
all those fun things.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Okay, uh, so we'll keep you posted on this game.
The Pistons now with a four point lead over the Knicks.
The Knicks turn it over in the back court, uh
and a breakaway layup. So it's one oh nine, one
oh five Pistons with the lead, time outcome and just
getting to under four minutes left to go in the
fourth quarter. So look, big NBA night, right, we got
(06:06):
the Nuggets and the Clippers coming up again, another elimination
game on the way, But today seems to be a
story a day for people who are not going to
be around who are not going to be around for
the playoffs, and at the top of that list is
Tyre's Halliburton's dad, who will not be around the Pacers
during the rest of their playoff run. Halliburton gets into
(06:28):
it with Giannis after the elimination game two nights ago
or Tyre's Halliburton goes in for a layup to win
the game. The final shot is no good from seventy
five feet away, and Halliburton's dad decides to get Giannis's
face hold up a towel with his picture on, and
this is what we blank and do becomes a whole
big thing, And now tyres Is dad will not attend
(06:49):
the team's home and road games for quote the foreseeable future.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
So yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Feel like we have the two big stories this a
week about scandal involve a guy who was way old
enough to know better and a guy who's defensive coordinator's
kid is twenty one, right, Like you got Jeff Ulbrick's
kid and you got Tyree's Haliburton's dad, and they're at
the the opposite end of the spectrum of hey, you
still should know a little bit better. But one guy
who's you know, in his sixties and one kid is
twenty one, You guy should still know better.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
One costs the dad one hundred grand the other's dignity.
So it's the the idea for the pacers. Couldn't they
have just forced him into a suite? I mean, I
know it's not quote solving the problem, but do you
run the risk? I mean, is Haliburton with this facers
(07:36):
de beat in its own.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
This is like rewarding a kid's behavior. The kid won't
stop crying, but I gave him ice creaming to stop crying. Okay,
oh you're not gonna be on the floor, but we'll
put you in a suite. Wait what Yeah, you get
to go.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
In a sweet warning. Wait he doesn't to yell at
the other players.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Sure it is, you know, being down by the court
side infinitely better than a suite.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Dude, No, no, no, no, but not but.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
To him, but not being at the game is the
big thing, right, that's the whole. But go into a suite,
that's not it that that's not a punishment that's like, hey,
we're gonna.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
But it takes away his full enjoyment of it because
he's not on the court.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Doesn't really really, he's not gonna enjoy the game from
the suite. Really, he's not gonna do it.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
Doesn't get to wave a towel at anybody.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
I think you can still wave a time.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
He's still gonna enjoy the game away from the arena
as well. Yeah, I mean no, it's.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
I guess you're you're just deciding you've got to make
the ultimate in punishments and examples of him.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Well, you have to do something at least and say, dude,
you can't come to the games. That's that's That's what
it kind of has to be.
Speaker 6 (08:40):
The only way you, guys, or anybody out there is
not enjoying as sweet as if they're allergic to delicious
beer and sandwiches.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, they load you up with all kinds of food
the dim Oh yeah, a great bathroom. You can use
it like hardly anybody that's fantastic.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
And no one used a bathroom for another thirty five
to forty five minute. I'm like Pops sitting with the
spray in my hand, letting it go.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
But you're telling me it's got the same juices being
sideline and screaming at the player.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
But it's the sick but but you're still giving them
something good. It's a it's an incredibly soft landing, all right.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
And I say this knowing what I'm gonna say.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Next to really, wait a minute, So you don't want
them to do that, but you wanted to be a
TV star. This goes back to my idea from a
couple of years ago. Right, all these different shows that
are great now reality TV. You know, all the different
shows with the wags and everything. Basketball Dads, right, Remember
I had that idea a couple of years ago, right
when the whole Eric Fox's Dad right going out like
(09:42):
Basketball Dads is a show.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
And you get.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Tyrese Halliburtons, and you get a whole bunch of dads
that are playing against other teams. You get him watching
games together, you get them feuding with each other, you
get him in the same room talking smack.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
About their kids each other.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
You put them next to each other in the games,
and obviously they know how to act on a reality show, right.
You don't just sit there and clap a go yeah,
it's great. Your kid is great, My kid is great. No,
they know I'm gonna get into it. And clearly, you
know a lot of basketball dad's a lot of bad
want to be part of the storyline.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Okay, at least let's make a show out of it.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
I'm telling you Basketball dads and you get some of
these guys going in, Oh, my.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Good, it would be incredible. I mean everybody, everybody.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Would watch it go, oh, tonight, Oh, Lonzo's coming back,
and it's gonna be Oh, d'aron Fox is gonna play there,
Fox's dad and Lonzo ball.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Oh, here comes Halliburton's dad. He's got you.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
He's waving the towel in front of I mean, you
just gotta get like seven or ten dads and you
shoot like five or six episodes and it becomes it
becomes a huge hit. And then the next year it's like, oh,
now we're doing basketball dads, East Coast basketball, Dad's West
Coast basketball, Dad's Heartland basketball, Dad's Southwest.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
You're doing all of them and it's fantastic.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
No, I think there's money to be made here. I'll
profit off it.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
But just like all the real housewives of this that
or the other, I won't watch a damn minute of it.
I can honestly say I've never seen a minute of any.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
One of the executive pudn yeahh no.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
We get casting, uh, based on the sports news. And
then it's like Brad Pitt in Moneyball. Oh I don't
watch the games.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Yeah, I'll save you a seat right here, Billy. Yeah,
I don't watch the games.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
I'll be on the treadmill while that prints money for me.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Yeah, exactly, see that. See that's how it works, man.
See suddenly I got you on board.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Oh no, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
I'm on board philosophically, There's no question about it. I'm
just speaking for myself as a consumer. Not not my
cup of tea, but less unless they end up fighting. Nope,
I don't watch the show that I create. No, no, no,
but this is your idea.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
No, once I'm sold, it's sold.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah right.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
I get my profits off of whatever the ratings are,
or whatever cut of any ancillary deals, sponsorships, marketing, T
shirt sales, uh, Choski's all of those things.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
I'm in and I care about those reports.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
But in terms of sitting down for the show, no,
someone gives me a thirty second synopsis Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
What happened is we next idea, I go next idea.
We're going to the next idea.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Okay, that's great, oh man, I am Michael Keaton from
Night Next idea.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Let's go basketball dads.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Like we should patent that title because that's gonna be it,
like because we can't use NBA because then we'd have
to pay money to lay. But we did Basketball Dads. Boom,
We're done. Basketball Dads. South Beach. Basketball Dad's la. Like
it'd be just like the Real Housewives show, except basketball dads.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
We just go state to state, region, region and suddenly
we start syncing up and we take over for the
NC douablea and now we're adjudicating things for them.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
And then it.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Becomes such a big, a big hit with the basketball
dads from the NBA. It's basketball dads in college and
basketball dads in high school. I mean, all of a sudden,
this is like a whole We have the MCU of
basketball dads.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
All the way down to club sports. Yeah, all the
way down regional regional cable and uh, you know, YouTube
and everything else.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
And now we got it.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Get into a regional cable channel near you. What do
you got Frostburg.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
You do know how TV works, right?
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Sure? I do? Why turn the TV on? I find? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Yeah, You don't think people are gonna sit there and
watch Levart.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yes, they of course they will.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Of course there will, because the kids are gonna be
in it, they'll be part of it, the players will
be of course people will.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
No, of course, apps one hundred percent. Why don't you
think people will watch because it's dumb? Wait? Oh wait?
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Has that stopped How many ideas has that stopped getting
on television?
Speaker 3 (13:18):
How many ideas?
Speaker 1 (13:20):
I would say sixty three percent of the stuff that's
on TV is dumb, Yet it finds its way on there.
You don't need to have the every idea doesn't need
to be in over the top high brow. Oh this
is going to appear to the top one tenth of
one percent of clientele, and then it's going to trickle
down and suddenly we're gonna no how many big bed
zombie ass ripoffs have we seen? Doesn't matter. It's got
(13:41):
you put it on. People are gonna watch. Whether it's
on HBO, Max or on Sci Fi. Does it need
to be does it need to be a really over
the top smart idea? It can just be an okay
ideas and it makes money.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
You're living in the past.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
It's just Max now right, Oh, it's just call it
HBO Max having for a couple of years.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
That's an old logo. You gotta update your.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
App update update. Wa yeah, wait, wait for it.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
Clearly back to the Haliburton genesis point of all of this.
Obviously facetious in terms of you know what to do
with him, but you are walking a line where the
league's now got to figure out policy and procedure of
this stuff. Right in terms of people being able to
walk onto a court as easily as he did, which
(14:25):
is a whole other issue, but regardless of who he
is h related to, there are a lot of people
wandering around that court, which is which is problematic because
you saw how close he got to to Jannis just
like that, and nobody came in to frame until one
of the teammates finally like, oh wow, what's going on
(14:47):
over here?
Speaker 5 (14:49):
So yeah, we gotta figure something out here.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Just like seth Rogen in the studio, he wants to
make great movies, but he's not turning his way away
from money, and that's what this is about.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
This is about money.
Speaker 1 (14:59):

So here we are, twenty seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Karl Anthony Towns has fouled out of the game for
(17:10):
the Knicks. He leaves with ten points in thirty seven
minutes in a row, so not the best night for
Big Bodega. However, the Pistons miss the layup, and it's
been a lot of mislayups from both teams in the
last couple of minutes. So the Knicks have the ball.
I assume two things. One they will hold for the
final shot, and two, Jalen Brunson will take it or
(17:32):
we're going to overtime. One thirteen, one thirteen, time out
on the floor, twenty seconds left to go. Brunson also
having a big night. He's got thirty seven.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
In a row, thirty seven.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
But and every time down the floor, it's kind of
been like teen Wolf in the last few minutes, where
he dribbles down the floor of the ball and every
just kind of stands around, going, okay, you're just gonna
shoot it, go whatever.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
And he goes.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
It's one on five and somehow like two out of
every five times down the floor, but.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
He triples a lot.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
He does, but he doesn't get the call for it.
So it's out of travel.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Yeah, I mean occasion, it would be good for someone
to actually come to this side of the court and
maybe set a pick and give him a little bit
of it because he's getting beating the hell out of this.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Look. But what do I tell you about the Knicks offense? Right?
Speaker 1 (18:13):
What if I said about it in close games like this,
what happens Their offense becomes we stand around and let
Jalen Brunt and dribble around the basketball and uf guys
that can make shots. Right, Josh Hart can make a
big shot. Kurly, Anthony Towns if he was in the game,
he can make a big shot. Bridges finally having a
big playoff game. He just had a big tip in.
He can make a big shot. So but it just
(18:35):
so much standing around of Okay, we're just kind of
standing and watching and standing and watching, and Jalen Brunson
misses and suddenly it's up in the air, like that's
the entire Nicks offense. Sometimes it works, and sometimes they
hit a big three and it defies logic and expectation
and you hit a big three, Oh, like Jalen Brunson
just did.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Oh, he just hits a.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Big three, kissing to the crowd with four seconds left
the next lead at one, sixteen, one thirteen. I think
drought him every five times by carbon two out of
five it works.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
I think dude lost his jockstrap on the little move
Jalen bruns.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Has just put on.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Yes he did.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
He killer cross over him. Tim Hardaway sitting over on
the sideline. That was his move all those years ago.
I would have been looking right at Tim, Tim Hardaway
and waving at him, going, hey, what'd you think of
that way?
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Thompson sar Thompson is such a good defender, and Jalen
Brunson faked him. He almost in the middle of the
floor and Thompson almost went into the sideline.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
That was Wow, that was a cuckack. Yes?
Speaker 6 (19:39):
Is it just me or did that not sound like
Iron Eagle on TNT.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Absolutely, especially with the little joker like or maybe it
was Tiger.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
The how high you got up with your your voice there?
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Fifteen to thirty three on the night, three of ten
from three point range, that's the one that matters. He's
up to forty for the night. Uh, to offset your
huge contributions from the bench six boards from.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
I'll tell you man, I mean all I read, But
oh so are Thomson?
Speaker 3 (20:11):
How great he is? Great defender? Yeah? I seriously middle
of the court.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Jalen Brunson crossover fake and he really almost falls all
the way out of bounds, and Brunson has a wide
open three. And this is where we sit right now.
One sixteen, one thirteen, four point three seconds left. The
Pistons will inbound. They absolutely have to take a three.
There's oh my god, they we'll see. No, I'm ahead
of you, Frostburg.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
I know that.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
See not my first road.
Speaker 6 (20:37):
What you did ruined it for everybody here too.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
How do I ruin it for everybody?
Speaker 1 (20:42):
All the Pistons throw it out of bounds. They don't
get a last second three Malik Beasley, who had six
threes in the first and Gary Trent it goes off
his hands and out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
The Knicks inbound, and it is over. Go New York,
New York.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Coat, Go New York, Go New York, Coat, Go New York,
Go New York, Go New York.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
The second round of the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
The championship in the first round.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, justin I'm I'm all the way
up here, still in the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (21:15):
I'm also here countners.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
All the way out of the playoffs. I really can't
hear you because you're.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Out of the place. Got the seventeen playoffs.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
I'm would you hang an ist semi final banners that
he got to seventeen?
Speaker 4 (21:33):
But yeah, the the movie made on Thompson, it looked
like a video game glitch, or that he hit a
skit of ice and just kept skidding.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
I mean that was his shoes.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Either way, we get the the Gary Trent and Junior
reducts on the ball going out of bounds. Can't even
get a shot off on that final possession. Nick's escaped
one of those Hey let's get some quick handshakes. Get
the hell out of here while the getting's good.
Speaker 6 (22:02):
Who do they pay next?
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Now?
Speaker 6 (22:04):
I won't worry.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
I'll worry about that tomorrow. I'll worry about the Celtics tomorrow.
I'll worry about that tomorrow. But I do want to
say here because I do want I would be fair.
I wouldn't be fair if I wouldn't say this. I
know everything I said, you know going up to that
last shot, and watched Jalen Brunston put Thompson to the sideline.
I mean, it's an incredible fake. But I do want
to say this not I'm not as unhappy that the
(22:26):
Knicks didn't move the ball around in that last possession. Okay,
tell I'm I wasn't that unhappy that they didn't move
the ball and Jalen Brunson took that latch.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
I was not.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
I know I was angry before. I was angry for
minutes ago. Maybe it's a little too but my point
is still relevant. My point still works. But I'm not
nearly as as as worked up about it as I was.
I'm okay holding onto the ball.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Well, there's a couple of things I want.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
First, I need a still of Brunson and uh Karl
Anthony Towns, who was the most thankful man uh in
all of the United States, especially uh New York City
because he saved him after that ten point follow out performance.
The other is I want the overhead shot as the
ball goes up, because I think it was a lot.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Of ball watch.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
I don't think anybody was coming for a rebound if
that didn't go in the saying is he gonna hit it?
Speaker 3 (23:20):
It's almost like when you when you.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
It's almost like in a movie where like in one
of those comedy move comedy action movies where a guy
is is like coming at somebody like with a gun
or a big weapon, and then they get like ten
feet away and people just start diving out of the
way like he's not even close and he's diving out.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Of the way.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
That looks like that. That's what jaylen Brunson did to
Thompson right there.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Yeah, he traveled.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Oh man, he did not travel. He did not travel.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
I mean we could call palming or carrying out almost
every possession in the NBA.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Yeah, it's just a matter of whether he wanted to
do it.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Now, that would have been ballsy all of a sudden,
the official Nope, palming, whoa whoa?
Speaker 6 (24:00):
Jason, I do have the final call on MSG next TV?
Oh you do how many bangs? Do you think Mike
Breen got in all that?
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Hang on? Hang on?
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Can he still do that? I mean, when it's a bang,
it's good. When it's specially it's a double bang, I'm
gonna say this is a triple bang.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
That genre later in the show. Yeah, I mean that's
too early for that.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Hey, what's on Max later on tonight? Since harmon? Why
oh triple bang is on Max? I gotta lot whoa whoa?
And it's it's just YouTube videos of Mike Breen calls
bang bang Bang. I paid nine ninety nine for.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
This that comes out and then the thing says bang.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Look at a bugs bunny cart too.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
There is also likely a market for people to just
sit around and listen to my green call.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Oh yeah, I would watch I'd watch that. So do
we do we have the final call? Frostberg? Do we
have the call of that?
Speaker 6 (24:56):
So you're going triple bank?
Speaker 3 (24:58):
I'm saying absolutely triple bank.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
I mean I gotta get four.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
You think it's a quadruple Yeah, the knicks are just
over the top. Oh, okay, all right, let's ok say
quadr I'll say triple bang.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
I mean Perman was a back back.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
I mean, come on, bring gets your bringing max it.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Okay, all right, all right, so triple bang, quadruple bang.
Let's hear how many bangs freaking bound to Brunson. He's
gotta be careful with the ball chops.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
It's got those long arms down in twelve seconds. They
can't of defense Bruns and holding theis trying to wake
till the end. Bronson puts up a three dang, Jalen Bruns,
it's the three Oh, just a double bang for my d.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
I guess it's because it's only the first round. You
can't expend himself too much or too early.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Okay, ma, I think, yeah, I gotta save something. He
has nothing left for the third round. Okay, I'm with
you on that.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
I can see that of that highlight.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
The Kings and Oilers scored four goals.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
It is a pretty insane game that we're watching it.
He got fourteen minutes left in the first it's two two.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Oh man, I'll tell you that last is that that
reminds me of that that scene from Top Gun. You know,
Brun's watching Brunston and Thompson when when they're talking about
when they all got got by Viper and in the
and they're in the locker room and they go, we
went like this. He went like this. I said to Hollywood,
where'd he go? And Hollywood said, where who go? That
(26:26):
was Thompson right there, Hollywood and a wolf man. Oh
it was so good, so so good.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
All right?
Speaker 5 (26:36):
So does Tims get to keep his job? Eight seven
seven ninety.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Where do go? Exit? Out about a Fresca exit swollen dome.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Jason Smith My Garment live from the tirerack dot Com
studios time out to find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports. From a guy who has been
called the Jalen Brunson of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
He takes every shot at the end of the game,
no matter who is around him. It's Steve de Sager.
Speaker 7 (27:05):
Man, I wish I could sound like Steve de Sager,
But yes, I.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Knew it was you, and like you did and I'm
sorry about that. No, yeah, no, I remember yesterday when
I was like, let's do it again tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Yeah, and you have in fairness, you have done that
before and then not been here the.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Following not in last minute, and no, I mean not
in last.
Speaker 6 (27:27):
Minute, Mancy. You know what The best part about this
is what we told him. It was you.
Speaker 7 (27:31):
Oh, perfect, Even better he could say, you wouldn't you
were one of the same.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Doug always like Dan Byer.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
It's like, hi dog, it's me, It's me.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
It's always me, Mancy.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
I saw you there. Thank you, good to see it.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Thank you all goods.
Speaker 5 (27:45):
To a high off to that three.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Can I get it.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
He's not going to know anything else we say the
rest of the night have done.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
I agree. I wouldn't listen to anything either. I don't
blame him. I mean, we heard the T n T call.
Why don't we hear the Knicks radio call.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Backing down a sorry time without the logo plenty of
time left.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
We're tied at one thirteen.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Here in game six, Brunson between the legs field with
gets rid of Thompson walk.
Speaker 8 (28:07):
Out three pointer. Hey got it.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
The clutch player of the year will not be denied.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Jalen Brunson with four point three puts the list in
front one sixteen at one thirteen.
Speaker 7 (28:18):
Yeah, you heard it on the Knicks radio network. He
was clutching that moment. But leading up to that shot,
he missed a couple and I feel like mckel bridges
has to get some credit. He hit that late tip
in off of a Brunson miss to tie the game
with thirty five seconds left. Then Brunson does hit the
game winner. Detroit doesn't get a final shot off. In fact,
they don't even really get a possession with the four
(28:39):
seconds that they had left. The Knicks eliminate the Pistons
with a one sixteen to one thirteen win.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Over the Pistons.
Speaker 7 (28:45):
In Game six, Jalen Brunson had fifteen points in the
first quarter, ended with forty points and seven assists.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
And the game winner.
Speaker 7 (28:53):
And yes, the Knicks are going to face the Celtics
in the second round. But like Jason Smith said, why
worry about.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
That now, because.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Tonight is the night.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Yeah, there was one time. You want to go so
one time when the Jets won the a f C
East in two thousand and two.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I'm going back twenty three because I don't have a
lot of hair.
Speaker 5 (29:16):
No hair at that point.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
We got to get I was it was.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
It was at the end of the last of my
hair before I shaved my head. And we were in
Pam and I were in Michigan for Christmas visiting her.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Oh hi, great hair.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
He looked like.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
That was great man.
Speaker 5 (29:31):
I was like, he had.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Crazy curly I need to seek flat top. I had.
I look great?
Speaker 1 (29:40):
And did we go out to watch It was Sunday
night football and it was the Jets and the Patriots, right,
and it was the year after Brady won the Super
Bowl and the Jets win the a f C East
and they beat.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
The Patriots and it's a huge thing.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
And we're out having having a few drinks and I'm like, oh,
we just won the Oh my god. I was so
bleep and excited and Pam go, okay, it's midnight.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
We should go home.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
I go, we need we should go and she goes, well,
we can go out tomorrow night. We got you know,
we got this going on early to I go Tonight.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Is the night. You'll go home.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I'll take a cab home. This is the night, right now,
this is the night. She was like, Oh, okay, we'll stay,
We'll stay. We stayed, and we stayed, and I close
that bar. Go New York, Go New York. Coat, go
New York, Go New York. Goat I did twenty three
years ago.
Speaker 7 (30:24):
I hope I am feeling as good as you are
by the end of this Clippers Nuggets game. Right now,
Denver is up though twenty two to eighteen, still the
first quarter, so plenty of game left. Norman Powell though
they gave a Norman Powell shirt today into it Dome,
and he's a leading scorer. He's got six points. Jamal
Murray's got nine points for Denver. Another elimination game here
(30:44):
in the NBA playoffs, This one is for the Clippers,
but plenty of game left in the NHL playoffs. The
Avalanche beating the Stars two zero after the first period.
Halfway through the first period, the Kings and the Oilers
are tied it to a piece, while the Maple Leaves
and the Golden Knights are advancing to the next round.
Maple Leaves eliminated the Senators. Golden Knights eliminated the wild
(31:05):
In Major League Baseball, we got a couple of games
going on. Angels are up on the Tigers at home
three to two. Five homers have been hitting this game
so far. It's the bottom of the fourth inning. The
Rockies and the Giants are tied at one apiece. The
bottom of the fourth is about to start in San
Francisco and Vladimir Guerrero Junior hit the game winning three
run shot for the Blue Jays as they took down
the Red Sox four to two.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
Back to you, my internet is slow. Here did the
Diamondbacks play today?
Speaker 7 (31:30):
Did did Diamondbacks play today?
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (31:32):
They did?
Speaker 3 (31:33):
They did.
Speaker 7 (31:34):
Oh you want me to mention that right now?
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Okay, listen, I have no time. I have no time
for that today. Right. I had bigger fish to fry
and we fried that fish. And why hit home runs? Yes?
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Yes, I said we should have won and we didn't.
Anytos needs to sit down for like three weeks. But
it doesn't matter because the next one. I have much
bigger fish to fry tonight on.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
This mon sono very defensive when being asked about pressure
and stuff.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
So I mean there's still cracks in the armor.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah, I'm worried about our four game lead
in the National League East. Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
Plenty of time for that to dissipate.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
Oh yeah, remember April baseball?
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Does it matter? Does it matter when.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
You have the best record in baseball? R? Yeah exactly.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
That sounds like a good poll question or sup for
college that's no longer.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
By the way, Well we have to. Like I said,
tonight doesn't matter tonight the next.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
One we've got tonight. There is no baseball tonight because
the Knicks one. There's no baseball tonight.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
Go New York, Go do your white won a game.
Speaker 3 (32:30):

Final NBA Game of the Night? Are we in a
close out game? Denver and the Clippers? End of the
first quarter? Clippers at home trying to extend the series
down twenty eight twenty five? What about the other game?
(33:31):

round of the playoffs, you get to be the play

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Fricking down to Brunson, He's gotta be careful with the ball.
Shouston's got those long arms down in twelve seconds, Brunson
holding Nick's trying to wait until the end. Brunson puts
up a three Dang dang. Jalen Brunson EPs the three Knicks.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
TV on the call make it a forty spot for
Jalen Brunson, the greatest player.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
In the history of the NBA. And the Knicks go
on to the second round. They will take on the Celtics.
They win it over the Pistons one sixteen, one thirteen.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
And I know, Mike, I know. I say all the
time the Knicks offense bogs down at the end of games.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
They don't.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
They It's frustrating as hell. You have a lot of
players that can make shots, but yet it's always Brunson isolated.
And he's a smaller players. He has a little bit
more difficulty getting a shot off. That he gets more
shots off than Steph Curry does. But I will say,
I am very upset about that. I am I'm very
very angry about that.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Okay, But in the immortal words of Kurt Russell and miracle.
Speaker 5 (35:06):
But not tonight, Okay, Yeah, I just I was waiting
for you.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
I'm not a breath there, So I can refute the
whole greatest player of all time might be the.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
Greatest player of the moment. For a while, my dad
was the.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Greatest scorer in high school basketball in Chicago Catholic League.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
But at the time they had two leagues.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
One was five to nine and under, the other was
five to nine and taller. So he was a prolific
scorer at the five to nine and under category. And
then the three point shot showed up, and then well
that was the end of that. But all of that
to say good on Brunson, this is more. You can't
just go from the referendum on where Lebron fell after
last night's loss in the top ten, crowning Jalen Brunson
(35:47):
the greatest of all time.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
And I mean, come on, he is the great nine
of us. Ten times do you take that shot?
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Nine out of ten times it bounces off the iron,
we go to home.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
That's not true.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
He had no defender anywhere in his feet old division.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
But not to know that was like noting the ball.
You don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Why Herb Brooks thing, Well, you stuck all the time,
I know by Herb Brooks.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
And you're blah blah blah blah blah. Now I sound
like Mike North and all jacked up. You keep interrupting
my Herb Brooks, Thank Mike Harmon. I'm checked up about it.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Okay, Herb, go ahead, good No no, no, Now it's over.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
No no, now it's over. No no, no, moment's over now.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
Moments over when you suddenly start channeling the voices in
your head. Sometimes I don't know whether you're doing a
bit or you want to fight, or what you're doing
moments over and coming off of this Nicks win, I
don't know when we're gonna get back to, uh, Jason
Smith's sanity level.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
You just went in full Chicago. We're gonna get back
to Jason Smith's sanity level. You guys are all preparing
for next week.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
I'm heading home, so I my voice is already there
because I'm having conversations.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
You guys are all gonna get the needle because I'm
got a Chicago accent in New York.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
It's gonna be a big needle for all of you. Uh.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
So there is the play the day. We'll have more
in the Nicks Pistons game coming up in a bit.
But forty for Jalen Brunson Nixon Celtics in the second round,
and oh boy, that is appointment television. Now to the
day after for the Lakers, there's a lot to get
to with them. They get eliminated late last night. We
spent the final hour of the show talking about it.
What is next for them? And they did their end
(37:21):
of the season, which really was kind of weird, like,
hey them, next morning, we're doing our whole end of
season thing, and we're leaving. Not gonna be a couple
of days. We wait a day, we do it on Saturday.
We just kind of leave. No, no, no, we're doing
next morning. We're doing our end of the season a thing.
And now we're all leaving. And JJ Reddick had one
big message for the Lakers in the off season, but
(37:42):
his message seems like it's more for one person the
entire team.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Take a listen.
Speaker 9 (37:47):
I'll start with the off season and the work that's
required in an off season to be in championship shape.
Speaker 10 (37:57):
And you know, we have a way to go as
a roster. And certainly there are individuals that were in
phenomenal shape. There's certainly other ones that could have been
in better shape. That's where my mind goes immediately is
you know, we have to get in championship shape.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
His name is Luca. He was not in shape at all.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
Now here's the good news, right, Because I have good news,
you think I'm gonna say, oh, yeah, Luca not in shape.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
One of the reasons that the one of the main
reasons that the Mavericks didn't want to I wanted to
wind up trading Luka Doncic and didn't want to give
him a three hundred million dollar extension is because he
never stayed in shape, didn't seem like he wanted to
stay in shape. Coming off the finals, he gets hurt,
he is out of shape, and they had had enough, right,
they had years to try to get him in shape,
and they said, Okay, when you're in your early twenties,
(38:44):
it's gonna be all right, but you don't take care
of your body, We're not going to give you three
hundred million dollars. But this is where things get better
for the Lakers, right, because I have no doubt, no
doubt that this offseason Luka Doncic is going to train
and his body's going to look different by the time
we see him again on a basketball court. When it counts,
and the Lakers are gonna make sure to be in
(39:04):
charge of that because Luca knows. Okay, I kind of
ran things in Dallas, right I was the real owner
I except you know, Niko had the power to treat me.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
But I ran things.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
I didn't have to do what I didn't want to do,
and I didn't want to stay in shape. I wanted
to continue to hang out and drink beer and smoke
huka whatever it was. But now it's different. Now the Lakers.
You want that big contract and you already lost over
one hundred million dollars what the Lakers can give you.
You got a couple of years left. The Lakers aren't
going to extend you right now. You need to show
that you're gonna take care of your body. The Lakers
(39:36):
will of course pay you. You're one of the top
three most talented players in the game. But I have
no doubt because it's the change of scenery and the
change of expectation, We're going to see a different Luka
Doncic in mentality, stamina, and body when the Lakers play
again in the fall.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
So it's the off season like Sammy Sosa coming back
all those years ago looking like he was I don't
know Steve Rogers on the super serum and.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
He's thin, he's late.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
What happened that guy's jack he trained, set his prayers
and ate his vitamins or something like that. Look, we'll
get to the Lebron being glib and kind of being
a jackass at every turn last night, because that came
out way too late. Ben was, you know, into full
celebration mode of of the Lakers lost there. But you're
missing what JJ Redick was really saying there. Yeah, it
(40:24):
might have been a message to Luca Dncis. It's what
he's he's really telling you. He did his theory testing
on the twenty four minutes of all five starters in
game four, and he think.
Speaker 5 (40:35):
That's a viable solution.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
So everybody needs to be in shape because he's gonna
run that back next year as often as he can.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Hey, look, he's going full Thibodeau.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
I see what Tips is doing with the starters. I
want to do the same thing here. Hold on, hold on,
hold on.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
He's also done a lot of excuse making something he
called out coach after coach when he was a member
of the media. Hi, JJ, You'll see Lebron and Dantich
on Venice Beach like Rocky and Apollo and Rocky three
when when Apollos training and running up and down.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
Maybe we'll do it tomorrow, don't you mean? Never?
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Big story out of the NFL is next Jason and
Bike Fox.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
Yeah, it's a happy night, the next one.
Speaker 2 (41:13):

(41:44):
out game for the Nuggets and the Clippers have a
fifty eight fifty seven lead right now Yokich with twenty
and five rebounds. Meanwhile, for the Clippers it has been
all James Harden. He's got twenty one so far. And wait,
things look great for the Clippers. Mike, but tell me
this isn't set up for the Nuggets to beat the
(42:05):
Clippers in seven, like I feel like when the series began,
I'm like, yeah, what we could just play Game seven
in Denver, or we could just say.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
You know what, Nuggets are gonna win this in seven,
Like you can see this coming.
Speaker 4 (42:15):
Look how happy you are to just advance it and
try to give the Clippers a win?
Speaker 3 (42:19):
What are you doing? You know better? You've watched this
franchise for how many years?
Speaker 4 (42:24):
Yeah, I'm not saying you got a half out of
James Harden and the Ages.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
I'm not saying Listen, I'm not saying they're gonna lose tonight.
I'm saying they're gonna win tonight and they're losing Game seven.
That's kind of how it goes. Yeah no, but look
what even Clippers fans would tell you that. They would go, yeah, no,
it's probably how it's gonna go.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
Yeah, well, Doc Rivers isn't part of the team anymore.
Speaker 3 (42:43):
That's what's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
And right now you've gotten Nicola Jokic looks like an
even larger version of Jason Siegel with that hair and
facial hair combination.
Speaker 1 (42:54):
Joining us now on the hot line to break it
all down. Fox Sports won NBA Inside or a extraordinaire
Rick Buker. You can follow him on Twitter at Rick
Buker and you can see him on the facility tomorrow
morning on Fox Sports when I already have the rundown
for the beginning of the show.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
And here's the first topic.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Jalen Brunson the three most
clutch players in NBA history. Rick Buker analysis. Come on, Rick,
come on, come on?
Speaker 8 (43:29):
What hello?
Speaker 2 (43:31):
Rick?
Speaker 3 (43:31):
Are you pretending not to hear after that? After that lead?
And I gave you or did you really not hear it?
Speaker 11 (43:37):
I heard every word.
Speaker 8 (43:43):
I am very disappointed. I'm very disappointed. Why why would
you put Jalen Brunson in third place?
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Well, I gotta give you, I got to give you
something to debate tomorrow. That this is where you say, No,
Brunson's better than Michael and Kobe put together.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
That's you have to say that.
Speaker 8 (44:02):
Ah ah, okay, all right, so you it's good, okay,
it's good.
Speaker 6 (44:05):
Good.
Speaker 8 (44:06):
You were planning ahead.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
That's very nice. Exactly the run down.
Speaker 8 (44:10):
You knew where I would naturally take it. There, you
put Kobe Bryant ahead of Jail in brunts.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
All right, so hey, you watch it. You watch it happen.
The Knicks go on to the second round. What do
you make of the Brunton takes every shot in the
last five minutes and he, you know, puts a sar
Thompson too the sideline with a great crossover and hits
that three.
Speaker 8 (44:32):
Uh. He just continues to amaze it. I mean, for
his size, it is still extraordinary and how much they
go to him, and it's really not There's not a
whole lot of design to it. It's it's hand dealing
the ball and figure it out. You know, if you
need something from Josh Hart, you figure out what you
need from Josh Hart. But don't I don't get the
(44:53):
sense that there's any design coming from anywhere others than
jail in Brunston's own head, when in terms of what
he's trying to get to and his ability to just
continually consistently create the spaces necessary and for the most part,
he's not finishing at the rim, he's not finishing over guys.
(45:17):
It really is remarkable.
Speaker 5 (45:19):
Now.
Speaker 8 (45:20):
I am a little surprised that the systems didn't try
to trap the ball out of his hands more and
make somebody else beat them. But that said, he's also
very good at you trap it out of his hands
and then he's really good much like Steph Curry, not
to the level of stuff Curry, but similar where he's
(45:41):
able to relocate and get the ball back and now
you're scrambling on defense. So like I can't break it
down anymore than that, he defies what you expect. And look,
I thought that with the athleticism and with Kate Cunningham,
who one of the most part was able to really
(46:02):
got the shot, but the you know, toe to toe
with everything that that Jalen was doing, leading the Knix
and making big shots. But Cave missed a couple down
stretch in a couple of games and Jalen Brunson did not,
and that ultimately ended up I think being a big
(46:23):
difference in this series, or maybe the difference in the series.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
Now on that shot we saw bruns and lose Thompson, Well,
how long do you think the skid marks were? Like
you hit the brakes on a police investigations as he
slid off the court.
Speaker 8 (46:36):
You could use but you know, if if T and
T had had more time, you know they would have
done one of those things, or they had Thompson like
getting through Times Square and getting through the you know
the the uh through a swimming pool and where they
take a little clip of that, and then they just
have him getting down the side of a mountain and
(46:57):
all that stuff because it was yeah, he would he
skinned right out of the frame the camera over there, Yeah,
and uh got back to him and tapped the shot.
But yeah, it was it's what he does. It's uh,
it's really really remarkable his his We talk a lot
about about Luka Doncic's ability to decelerate, but Dalen Brunston
(47:23):
has the same ability. Uh watching replay now, Amict Thompson,
I mean outhur Thompson's literally goes out of the frame.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Yeah, you lose it.
Speaker 8 (47:34):
Yeah, yeah on that drive.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
Yeah. It's amazing, isn't it.
Speaker 8 (47:40):
You know?
Speaker 1 (47:40):
And the funny thing is Rick we talked about this.
You mentioned Steph Curry. These two guys are the same size, right,
They're both six two one eight five one ninety. Brunton's
probably a little bit a little bit bigger, but Brunson
can get his own shot off the end and every
game for step it's the same. A big defender is
thrown at him, and he's trying to give that peekaboo
pass under somebody's arm. He can't get his own shot,
(48:01):
which again, it's just it amazes me that these are
the guys are the same. We talk about Steph Curry
and the talent he has. Now he can shoot, he
can't get his own shot off, and Jalen Brunson can.
Speaker 8 (48:11):
Yeah. Well, I would say, so, what are you suggesting
that Jalen Seth Thurry.
Speaker 11 (48:21):
Or where are we going here?
Speaker 3 (48:23):
Well, he's already got him over Kobe and Jordan. What
the hell? We got him right behind Kobe and Jordan.
Speaker 1 (48:28):
Rick, come on, I mean we I thought I thought
we we blew past Steph Curry.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
Well he started the interview. Come on, bad, Steph Curry
was in the it was in the rear view mirror. Rick.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
We started this conversation. We started at Kobe and Jordan.
That's where we started things at. Where do we go
after Wilton, George, Mikeen next? Okay, so uh now that
this happened, looking ahead, you know, I came into this,
this playoff, and I'm thinking, okay, there's.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
I don't feel great. It's a big win.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
It's a it's a very look that the first round
has become knockdown dre out for almost every single team.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
How do you see the Knicks and the Celtics.
Speaker 8 (49:04):
I think it's going to be a I do think
it's going to be a tough series. You know, I'm
I'm gonna favor.
Speaker 11 (49:10):
Boston, But the question is health.
Speaker 8 (49:13):
I do think that they need Drew Holliday back and
playing for them to uh forget to the the finals.
I don't I don't know that well, I don't know
that they need him necessarily to win this series. The
big question, the big matchup for me is going to
be for Zingis and and Karl Anthony Towns and how
(49:37):
the two respected teams. I don't know that they're going
to guard each other, but which which of them is
ultimately more effective. The other part is, and this has
been the Knicks weakness against the Celtics, you know throughout
the season, is is just the size on the perimeter
(49:57):
and the three point shooting ability. The Celtics haven't done
look at what the numbers are, but anecdotally the Celtics
have an edge on them in terms of their three
point shooting and then just the matchups of the size
with Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown on the wings, they
can shoot over a Josh Hart no matter how hard
(50:20):
he works, and that's going to be the talent. I
don't know how the Nick find a recipe recipe for that,
because Ojan Andobi can guard one of them, but that's
going to leave the other one with presumably Josh Hart,
and that's going to be an advantage for the Celtics.
Speaker 4 (50:41):
All right now, Phil a busterring and making Jason feel
good about the Knicks. Now it's time to come back
here to Los Angeles. Rick in the Fund and a
World of the Lakers exit interviews, jj eradicates other people
like he does Jason Smith.
Speaker 5 (50:57):
What grade do we give him on his exit after
season one?
Speaker 4 (51:02):
And is he really going to build a super team
that is all about conditioning and being able to play
every single minute?
Speaker 8 (51:09):
Yeah, he's Look, I I give him a C plus
and ultimately because I would have probably given him a
B plus a minus going into the playoffs, but he failed.
He failed the final.
Speaker 11 (51:29):
Yeah, there's just too many There's just too much stuff
that he did. And it's not that he lost the
series because I the Minnesota Timberwolves Christinch is a better coach,
The Timberwolves had a better bench at this point as
far as a two way player, and Edwards is better
than either Lebron James or Lukadac. So there were a
(51:52):
multiple multitude of things. Defensively, overall, Timberwolves better have more size.
The right team won, and I don't know that the
Lakers could have done anything different, but they lost in five.
Speaker 8 (52:07):
I would say largely because jaj just couldn't sort of
got stuck in his ideas and when they didn't work,
he stayed with them anyway, starting with you know, not
starting Jackson Hayes and I'm not going to play Jackson
Hayes in Game five, and then ultimately I think the
whole series turned on playing the five starters the entire
(52:32):
second half in Game four. And I understand it's three
to one, et cetera, et cetera. But you had a
Lebron James who faded and was scoreless in the last
six minutes of the previous game. Why would you think
that playing him all twelve minutes in the fourth quarter
of the next game was going to produce anything different.
(52:53):
There was just a lot of decisions made that didn't
make a whole lot of sense and so and then
to be sensitive about you know, being asked about those
decisions doesn't doesn't help the matter. So I give him
a C plus. Overall, he was better than I expected
a first year head coach to be and and he
(53:16):
handled the Bronni James thing about as well as it
could be handled. But ultimately, could they have done a
little bit more in the postseason and was he the
culprit for the reason that they didn't. That's I have
to put that in his seat.
Speaker 1 (53:34):
All right, Rick, last, So let's do this now again,
getting you set for the facility tomorrow morning. If I
said to you, give me one big prediction for the
Lakers this off season, whether it's Luca Shape Lebron saying
I'm coming back, they add another star. If I said
give me one prediction you feel really good about for
the Lakers in the off season, what would you give me?
Speaker 8 (53:55):
Hmm, that's a good question. I would say that we
will see some sort of trade package that involves Dalton
connect going to get a big man. Maybe that's not
Mark Williams, but gets the kind of rim Runner Love
(54:17):
threats that Luka Doncics absolutely needs fifty two million coming
Lebron's way. I don't see him. I don't see him
opting out of that, And I don't see the Lakers
telling him, Hey, if you do opt out, we'll give
you two years for a little bit less, you know.
(54:38):
I see that as him opting in and that being
his last year.
Speaker 3 (54:43):
Here whoa duff Rick Bucker getting fired up? Ready for
an early morning on the facility. Uh check it out
on Fox Sports one.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
Don't forget the On the Ball podcast, where Rick will
be debating just where Jalen Brunson ranks among the all
time greats? Was this shot better than Oscar Robertson's averaging
a triple double that for that whole season in the
sixties up, big debate on the On the Ball, Right,
that's what you got, right, Rick?
Speaker 3 (55:09):
I thought I was reading that on Twitter for you.
Speaker 8 (55:11):
Right, I'm gonna go to Michael Jordan's shot over Lebrian Russell.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
Oh okay, yeah, Hey, at least Brian Russell state and frame, right,
I mean that's true.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Sorry, Thomp said, he flew out of frame. At least
Brian Russell stayed in frame.
Speaker 8 (55:25):
Why do you I brought it up?
Speaker 1 (55:29):
There you go there's an extra ten minutes on the
On the Ball podcast. Don't forget see Rick tomorrow morning
on the Facility on FS one.
Speaker 3 (55:35):
Rick, thanks for staying up with us. Man appreciate it.
We'll talk to you next week. Go New York, Go
New York. Go good. How about that? This is going
to be at one more year for Lebron?
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Now, look, there's a big Laker prediction we'll have for
Lebron coming up in about twenty five minutes. But it's
crazy because you think of Lebron and the level he's
playing at, and I said, hey, he looks like he
could play five more years.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
Could it be one more year? Could it really be
one more year?
Speaker 5 (56:03):
With the with the way he looked in the fourth
quarters in the last couple of games.
Speaker 3 (56:08):
I'll tell you, I don't know.
