Speaker 1 (01:01):
With the Jets beating the Eagles tonight in the meaningless
preseason game fifty six to negative four, right now we
can super Bowl transit in property. Yes, we can focus
on the other games. We could focus on the Okay, look,
I didn't think Brady Cook would throw seven touchdowns in
the first half.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
He did.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I didn't think the Jets defense would pitch a negative
shutout and they are so really it's just a it.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
You know, it's a win win day for everybody. Just
run out the clock at this point. Yeah, Jets show.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah, I would got people putting in my timeline that
are putting all sorts of this is Caleb Williams when this, this,
and this happened. And it's a picture of Zach Wilson
in a Jets uniform. So that's my day too.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
I will say this.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
I was the Eagles Jets really quick before we get
to the big game, because there's a couple of big
takeaways from one game tonight. I was, you know, loo
because obviously there's nothing at stake here Eagles and Jets.
All the backups are playing. I really wanted Kyle McCord
to play well. Obviously, cues like the guy turned our
program around, and he's not good at all tonight. You know,
he's not been throwing the ball. He doesn't leave to
(02:00):
look like the same guy. You know, he looks the
same guy throwing with confidence knowing where the ball. He
doesn't even look like the same player.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Attempts though, just knowing, young guy, you gotta you know,
you gotta complete.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
When you throw the ball thirty two times, you got
to complete like twenty two of them or twenty four.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Of them, not twelve. Yeah, long road begins with the
first step, buddy. I mean, look, he's still winning.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
He gets it. He's winning. That's great, that's great. He's
when he's going the whole way.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
But I wanted Brady Cook to play well for the
Jets because he's been a big star of training camp,
the undrafted free agent that all of a sudden, maybe
he's the next Rock Party Brady could Yeah, okay, Uh,
he's just been average below average tonight.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
So he's averaged just over five yempt. I mean, the
Jets are gonna lose.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
And I was actually rooting for the quarterback of the
other team and it didn't work out.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
So like tonight's like, you know what, I'm just glad
tonight means nothing. That's all. Take the night in double
l for you. There means absolutely nothing.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
It's okay, Well, that's the beauty of the end of
the preseason. You decide to take whatever grandiose implication from
it that you will. I actually had friends that traveled
to watch the Bears and Chiefs today, so I was
doing a lot.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
No, I think it was a sentence that a creative
judge handed down in court, and you gotta go to
the last preseason game to see the Bears.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
I think it was the you know, go see Kelsey
before he's done, go to do so at a relatively
affordable rate, before you go back to school, and all
that thing. Take the kids, take the mom, take the
whole nine yards. But I was just like, yeah, it's
a curiosity for me, but good on. But I mean, look,
it's the kind of thing that you decided, Hey, we're
(03:39):
gonna go get the best seats we can for a
preseason game. Go have a have a laugh, so even
can get somebody's attention and go create some chaos. Seem
like a lot of driving in a lot of work
for a preseason game. But you know what, I do
my best to just celebrate when other people find their
wins as long as it doesn't negatively impact me.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Find your damn wins.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Now, speaking of this is the game, this is this
is what they would call this is the spotlight game
of the day here right now at halftime. I just
started the third quarter. Actually, Chiefs lead the Bears twenty
to ten. The best part about this game is both
teams played their starters for the most You know, look,
Caleb Williams went the entire way in the first half.
Patrick Mahomes went most of the way in the first half.
(04:25):
We saw Swift, Dan o'doonza and DJ Moore and Pacheco
and Kelsey and Rashid Rice.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
We saw all of these guys.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
It was kind of fun, right, like, hey, we got
to see starters now before we get to Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Well, they do to eleven different guys. If you had
you just wanted to look at somebody in a Chief's
uniform running in pass routes, they really show.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
You got to see it. But look, I'll tell you this,
watching Mahomes in the first half, watching the Chiefs playing
with a lot of attitude. Right, Isaiah Pacheco was running
like it was the NFC the championship game in the
second half and with two first downs they could go
to the Super Bowl, like he was treating this like
this is this is exactly what I know? Like, yeah,
he had, he had three, He's had three rushing attempts,
(05:10):
and he's looked and he's run angry on both of them.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I have and this is not gonna be a popular
take with a lot of people in the NFL. But
I have a sneaking, dreading suspicion that this is gonna
be the Patrick Mahomes revenge year for the game manager
he has become in the last couple of years. Because
you have, in theory, the best weapons they have had
(05:37):
in a couple of years. You have a rededicated Travis Kelcey. Again,
in theory, you have a rededicated Travis Kelcey. You have
for Ashi Rice back for the first four games, and
he's going to service suspension. But you know, by that point,
who knows who winds up coming in and getting some targets.
We know Taekwon Forton had the big fifty eight yard
reception tonight. Xavier Worthy in year two in the offense.
(06:00):
Maybe he's back and he is one hundred percent healthy
and he is good to go. But I have a
sneaking suspicion this is gonna be the you all just
thought I was done being an elite quarterback. The last
couple of years because I've been running a game manager
offense because clearly they've not had the weapons right. They
kept cycling through wide receiver after wide receiver the last
two years, and while it got them far, they still won.
(06:24):
Patrick Mahomes went from He's Patrick Mahomes two.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Man.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Do I even start Patrick Mahomes in fantasy? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Do I have better options? I got like eight better
options than Mahomes. He's at least a low level QB one.
But just watching them, watching you know, seeing where they're
at coming into the season, as far as health, as
far as players, as far as expectation. Seeing Mahomes, I
have a sneaking suspicion this is gonna be the big
Patrick Mahomes revenge year, and he's back to the quarterback
that he was up until a couple of years ago.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Well, it's one of the things we talked about over
the course of last season Jason quite often, was this was.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Your shot to go get him? All right.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
They didn't have anything offensively that was explosive. Kelsey was
a step slower and for him, terrible numbers right because
he was useless in the in the red zone. That's
where he'd made some hay in the years past. But
for almost any other tight end in the National Football League,
it's like, if your team had a guy putting up
the number of catches, targets and yards, you're like, I'll
(07:20):
take that all day, all day long. But for him,
a down year as he spent his summer on the
brought Worst and Beer Fest, watching his bow get after
it in the European Tour. He did go on stage
a couple of times, so at least got a couple
of cardio workouts in while he was part of it.
But all of that to say, he's back. Curious to
(07:41):
see how long Rashie Rice ends up being suspended. But
you get Hollywood brown Back, you get some of these
other wide receivers back, some of these young guys that'll
get more reps. Yeah, I think you had your opportunity.
Now did the division get better alongside him? Sure, we've
got better things from the Chargers. The Raiders are going
to be just good enough to be a pain in
the ass. And Denver was a ten win team a
(08:03):
year ago. And from all accounts and from everything you're
looking at there, you've got a top notch defense and
you've got some young receivers that are ready for bo
Nicks to make Hay not to mention, you grabbed Harvey
to anchor your backfield, and that's a guy with great
explosion as well. So all of that to say, you're
not gonna run away and hide in the division. But yeah,
(08:24):
from top to bottom, you were defense base team with
Patrick Mahomes just picking his spots a year ago. They
can open up the offense again.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Look out, really, I mean everything is there for them
losing the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
The chips on their shoulder, the chip on his shoulder.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Now again, as you said, the division is much more competitive,
and any one of those three teams, sorry Raiders, but
you'll be the best last place team in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Any one of those teams can win it.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
But Mahomes himself like, this is the Okay, you thought
I was just gonna settle into my thirties and with
my dad Bot and just you and I kind of
hope my wife and my brother and my dad could
stay out of the news every few days. I'm just
gonna settle into maybe winning a couple more Super Bowls.
And then suddenly I'd just shown my rings and my legacy. No,
this is okay. Now is a time for him to
(09:13):
get back into being that guy. And look, and Andy
Reid is a smart guy, right, Obviously the guy's not
gonna wind up being the most winning coach in NFL
history for nothing like he saw that the last couple
of years. Okay, we can't wing it around like we
used to. The weapons just haven't worked out, right. We
went five wide receivers replaced him, five wide receivers replaced
him five wide receivers if they try to mix, and
(09:34):
the mix hasn't worked out as much the last couple
of years. So it's been a more balanced team, relying
more defensively. But now finally everybody's back, everybody's healthy. S
the right suspension is going to be a thing, probably
four games in the early part of October, but by
that time, you want to think their offense is going
to be rolling.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
A little bit.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, man, I really it's bad news for the rest
of the NFL, But I really, mahomes, he's going to
be back to being that guy again that he was
three years ago. And look, not a moment too soon
for the NFL. Fido, He's he carried the torch for
five years. He had an incredible run where he was
Lebron and he was Brady and he was Jeter. He
(10:13):
all wrapped into one in the NFL, and I missed
him the last couple of years, and especially because I
have been Dynasty and again, sure of course, like but
I think everybody's missed him the last couple of years
being that game manager guy.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
But yeah, I don't think that guy was gone for good.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
I think I think it was more we need to
get the right guys around him as he's getting older.
You know, teams have figured out how this offense works.
And now it's not like he's got incredible weapons around him,
but he's got guys that have a little bit of
talent and that he's now been in the system for
a couple of years that have that have gone through. Yeah,
this is gonna be a really big offensive year for Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Watch out.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Well, you look at what Smith Schuster's back. You've got
Xavier Worthy who came on strong down the stretch, or
Shei Rice whatever part of the season he misses for
six games whenever that becomes Hollywood Brown. So we got
speedsitters on the outside. You got Kelsey and Noah Gray
taking care of the middle, not to mention what Kelsey
does as a blocker for Pacheco, Hunt, Mitchell and whoever
(11:10):
else is running the football. Not to mention there is
Carson Steel. Because anytime you actually list at fullback on
your depth chart, damn it, we're gonna give them acknowledgment.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Here.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
If you look at your AFC odds right now, they
are the third favorite behind the Ravens and the Bills,
and then there's a gap before you get to the
Bengals and the Chiefs. But plus three forty plus three
sixty plus four twenty five. You want to have some fun.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Though.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
You look at the division odds talking about again how
it's come back to them with the Broncos and Chargers
both about three to one, Raiders down there at sixteen
to one, Chiefs are only at minus one ten. That's
an implied odds of just fifty three percent to win
the division. So you want to go and give yourself,
you know, your your little little bet to keep yourself entertained.
(11:56):
Not a lot of risk there for you. Now, the
flips of it is this right? So yeah, okay, everybody
flip side of it.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
And I need to be realistic, and I'm gonna say
the most realistic.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Down to earth.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
You nod your head and understand this is how it's
going to go when it comes to the Bears. Caleb
Williams played the first half. Tyson Bagen is in there
now it's second. Oh my god, Tyson Page, He's awesome.
Williams up and down first half, but was able to
take him down on a touchdown drive, throw a touchdown
pass to Roma Dunes. Ay, he's the guy that's really
got to come through this year, really quiet year last year. Right,
(12:32):
We've talked about Caleb Williams so much this preseason. I've
told you I think he's gonna have a huge year.
Bears fans are not quite sure beagent gets a big
contract extension. This seems to be looking like an RG
three Kirk Cousins situation back in Washington a decade ago.
But the best thing I can say is this, because
you know I want to help you, buddy. The best
thing I can say is this, for the next let's
(12:55):
see hang on for the net one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight nine. For the next ten days, Bears fans are
just gonna be nervous and full.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Of anxiety and nothing tonight could help that.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
I mean, really short of Caleb Williams throwing three touchdowns
in the first half, going for two hundred yards, and hey,
everything is great. A touchdown to more, a touchdown to
a duneesay, you know, a touchdown to Brian Baschnagel. That
wasn't going to do it. But hey, okay, Williams has
been good ish the last couple of weeks. It's been fine. Yes,
Page's been really good against backups. All right, I understand,
(13:27):
but I'd love to be able to say, hey, he's
turning the narrative around. But Bears fans are just gonna
be nervous, full of anxiety, and it's gonna be show
me on the field week one. The era of good
feeling will start for the Bears when Caleb Williams starts
doing well actually on the field, But the next ten days,
I'm sorry, buddy, I can't do anything more for you.
It just gonna be full of nerve racking. This season's
(13:49):
gonna fall apart on the first snap in the first
incomplete pass.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Well, I mean, you've covered your bases. You either have
him doing really well and he's reaching great heights or
he's displaced and grown out of town on a rail.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
So I mean, you know, I told you he's gonna
have a big year. But just in case he doesn't
like this is it? Man, Like they're gonna they're gonna
be moving on. But I want to tell you the
first thing I always say is he's going to have
a big year.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Everything is gonna be fine.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
And then you but it's always fine, But it's no, no,
it's always fun. Just to look at the other side
of it though. Then how much they want because like
you can't deny how much Bears fans are one foot
out the door on him and they've been yeh, Ben
Johnson coming in there one.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
But I can't wait till we actually have real football,
because you know the snippets and stuff that shows up
in social media, clips on air or whatever. It's like, Okay, Monday,
I said these guys were great. Tuesday, I'm gonna say
they suck. Wednesday. It's like when Marriotti and then and skip,
we're writing columns back in Chicago. What day of the
week it is, Well, that's who they're bashing or praising
(14:51):
this day. Okay, good, got it. That's kind of where
we're at. We've got Micah, we've got the Browns, and
we've got the Bears. Those are only three stories anyway,
it's behind this preseason, so getting the meaningful football. Look,
he took an abhorrent sack which was reminiscent of twenty
twenty four. So that was one of those you just
(15:13):
shaking your head going all right, one one thousand and
two with thousand like that was longer than it takes
Giannis to shoot a free throw that he had in
the pocket to get rid of the football before he
absorbed that sack. So all of that to say, uneven
numbers look good, the box score looks good, but until
they start flying for real, I mean, none of it matters.
And and look, I'm the pragmatist of it all. Maybe
(15:34):
maybe that only gets me to uh to the middle
in radio because I'm not hot tech take nonsense with
it all. But there's a reason they're over under in
Vegas is so low they wouldn't make a bunch of games, but.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
You'd be okay with and it would just if Caleb
Williams goes thirty touchdowns four thousand yards and the Bears
go six and eleven everybody would be fine with that.
We're good, we got a quarter back, we're exciting, we're
scoring points. Now, we build now, we gotta win but
six and eleven. But Caleb Williams has that kind of
year Bears fans with, I'll take it. I'll take that
kind of excitement. It'll also be the best year quarterbacks
(16:11):
ever had in Chicago. But Jason, I mean go back
to like the nuance of the stuff. Who's the guy
that wrote the book? The guy from that used to
do all the Patriots stuff? Why it was Wickersham, right, Yeah,
so that whole book on quarterbacks and whatever. I mean,
very nuanced.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Stuff about what he and his dad were asking and
their reservations and Shane Walder and whatever else. But to
hear it talk, all the guy did was sit and
wine and kick his feet in the air like he
was at an eighteen month old who wasn't getting chicken
nuggies as opposed to it actually being a nuance business
conversation about putting himself in the best circumstance. But no,
(16:47):
that's what you get spoon fed. So what happens the
wolves are at the door? Hot take nonsense reigns supreme
and there we are. I don't know how good the
kid's gonna be. I saw some things I liked last year.
Does it translate to wins? I don't know, but I
will give you this. Adonsay got the touchdown tonight.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
That's great.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Last week in the telecast, Greg Olsen, they said the
quiet part out loud about how they love Luther Burden
and go back and and it's not just because he's
a pass rusher. The thing is, grab the highlight clips
of Luther Burden through the first two weeks. He's running
through people as a blocker. That'll get you on the
field real fast. And a Ben Johnson offense.
Speaker 1 (17:24):

(17:46):
believe it or not. Jerry Jones speaks again. He did
not say anybody told him to stick something up as
you know what. But boy did he have some stuff
to say about the Cowboys and Micah Parsons that maybe
was even better than what he said yesterday. Remember when
he said Michaeh. Partson's agent said, hey, we told him
to stick it up. Oh that's coming up, Jim, It's
(18:07):
coming up next right here, Jason and Mike.

(19:28):
here we are, the final weekend of NFL preseason, absolutely
and final swing the three games tonight. Don't look now,
but here come the Jets. They're down by two to
the Eagles with three minutes left.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
All we do is win. Okay, Uh, I'm just saying,
you know, it's wow.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
I mean, get yourself excited. I mean it might be
one of the few times you get to do that.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
Oh that is true? Yeah, no, no, you're right about that.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Like, hey, how many times am I going to get
to see a Jets come from behind win against the Eagles?
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Yeah? Not very often? No, and potentially.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
I mean, and you got a Mets win, right, I
mean it wasn't the easy win like it looked like it.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Was gonna be but man, Paul Skeans, we are gonna
we are gonna turn Nolan McLain into Paul Skeens. No, Matt,
don't trust me. Everything Nolan McLain, his spin rate. Everything
that the Pirates have done in baseball, have done to
make Paul Skeins into a superstar, We're gonna do for
Nolan McLain.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
I'm telling you, we're gonna turn him.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Just like Patriots fans wanted to turn mac Jones into
Tom Brady, We're gonna turn Nolan McLain right into Paul Skeens.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
It's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Look I like the way you're just going straight for
the positive, you know, Jerry Jones things. Since we're in
baseball for a second, we we missed one story that
was really important.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Yesterday, Okay, for the first time.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Since twenty ten, there was a guy named Bob playing
Major League Baseball. Really, there has not been Bob since
Bob Howry. And most of the time he was Bobby Howry.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Yeah. Oh, he was Bobby Howry. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Because he was with a White Sox. He was a
Bobby Bobby Howry. And I guess says he grew up
and he became a Red SoC of whatever.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
There's been nobody at some point nobody named Bob or
no one named Robert that they call Bob, nobody that
called himself Bob. Okay, so we've had we've had we've
had Roberts, but no one that's called himself Bob.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Yeah, but I mean we had have we had rafts
showing how many Bob's there had been throughout major league history. Okay,
all right, all right, I did not know that. How
about that kind of weird? So to welcome Bob Seymour
to Major League Baseball, they was commemorated on the tops.
Now cart to have fun with it, goes, look Bob first, nick, Bob.
(21:37):
Did they have the picture of what's his name? Bob
from Top Gun Maverick? What's your name, Bob? What's your call?
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Side? Just Bob? Oh? Okay, that's great.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
No, he would have been good. Right, that's Bill Pullman's kid,
right Listen. I'm going to the MCU, all right, So
you can have fun with this whole top Gun mat,
but I'm going to the MCU, and I'm gonna be
a big villain, all right, see it. Yeah, so you
could have done that or maybe you just go all
the way back and get a tandem Bill, Bill Murray
and Richard Dreych.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
So you thought yesterday was good enough with Jerry Jones
and his statement about Micah Parsons that hey, we thought
we had a deal, and when we went to his agent,
the agent said we could stick it up our blank, right.
I mean, we had so much fun with that yesterday.
Because you know, that was great.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Jerry Jones decided, Hey, that was good. I like that.
I want an Encore on Friday.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
So he goes on ESPN and he gives his updates
on what's going on with Micah Parsons and why Micah
Parsons is unsigned. Now there's gonna be two soundbites we're
going to play for you. The first one is Jerry
Jones deciding I'm gonna go analogy to explain just why
the Micah Parsons deal where supposedly they met and the
(22:44):
two of them agreed on a deal, and then the
agent said, wait, the deal's not done, and Jerry Jones
is upset. Now both sides hate each other. Here's Jerry Jones'
analogy to explain just exactly how that happened.
Speaker 7 (22:55):
Not doing the old mother, Dad, deal, how many times
have you seeing the little rascal so clever going there?
And Mama told him you're not going to get it,
and goes into Daddy, who only sees him at the
after five and a half none wants to love him,
and says, you can have it, son, you can have
that before dinner. And he goes back in and says, Mama,
(23:17):
Daddy said I can have it. That's old Mom and
dad had been around since the beginning of time. I'm
not gonna go for that year, that's what's happening.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
I'm gonna make a nice analogy.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
I'm gonna make a nice analogy about a little kid
talking to his parents and then.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
Say I'm not going for that blank okay.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
So first thing I want to ask is this okay,
So who's who in that analogy? Like I And when
at first I said okay, then I'm like, no, wait,
I don't know. Wait, is Michaeh. Parson's the kid? Yeah,
Michael Parsons is the kid.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
He's the kid.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
And he goes to his mom and his mom says, no, okay,
So who's the mom?
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Is the mom the agent or is the mom Jerry
Jones because I think I think the mom in this
case has to be Jerry. Joe didn't know well because
if the mom. But I mean, he said he offered
him the the highest dollars of all all time, right
and all of that. So he he wants to give
him the candy ahead of dinner.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
He does, so he's so Jerry Jones is the dad.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
So yeah, so let's go take Jerry the dad who's
MOULI getta has gotta be mom saying no, no, no,
you can't have that.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
That deal is not good enough. So it's a it's
a subpar food.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Source or energy source or or toy or whatever you're
trying to get.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
But I like, it's just a little rascal.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
But Mike, I remember Alfalfa and Spanky, they would always
come out.
Speaker 8 (24:38):
Ah.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
I remember watching that.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
When I was a kid, and I had come Uh,
Alfalfa had the whole thing when he had the dead
fishes his leg and then the cats all came and
was sniffing the fish, and I was up here, Butcher.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
Wanted to beat him up. I gotta go.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Sorry, this is uh, this is baby Boomer stuff I'm
talking about here now.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Little rascals. Uh, but wait a minute.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
But if the if the mom is the agent, right,
so the agent says no, if Jerry's the dad, and
he says yes.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
Wouldn't Michaeh.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
That means Michah Parsons is listening to Jerry and he's
not listening to his agent, because that's what I've been
trying to tell you to get what he wants.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
To listen to Jerry.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
But if he but if he was, if he really was,
if the dad was really giving him everything, why wouldn't
he say yes like he wants? Apparently, if this deal
is the greatest deal ever, this is what Michaeh Parsons wants.
I don't think Mulligeta is the mom. I think Jerry
Jones might be the mom and a dad. Or maybe
Steven is the mom and Jerry's the dad. I don't
(25:35):
I don't get the whole thing. Maybe the sounddrop of him.
Let me throw this out there. Maybe Jerry is the kid.
Jerry goes to the mom who's the agent and says, no,
you can't have anything. But then Jerry goes to the dad,
which is Caleb, which is which is Michael Parsons. Caleb Boys,
which is Michael Parsons and Micah says, yeah, I'll take that. So, hey, mom,
(25:58):
guess what dad said? I could have it. I mean,
I think Jerry Jones might be the kid in this.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
That's an interesting scenario. I kind of like about that. Now.
I'm thinking about him in his little dungarese wearing one
of those.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Little knit caps on his head while he's sitting there
trying to.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Wha whah wait, who's Darla in this situation? Now we
got we gotta figure out the whole cast.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
I mean this road.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
I remember used to watch Little Rascals when it was
always on it like three point thirty in the afternoon,
like in.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
The eight I got that and I got the three Stooges.
I was good. Oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
So I really think in this scenario, Jerry Jones is
the kid and and Micah Parsons is the dad and
the agent is the mom. You can't have it, I really,
I mean, you think.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
But I think that's why.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
I think that's the analogy that he wants to throw
out there, except he said, you know, but I don't
go for that blank. So now if he's saying I
don't go for that blank, maybe Jerry Jones is the mom.
Jerry could be anybody in this right because you think
the first one, you think Jerry's the dad, right, second one,
I said, Jerry's the kid. But Jerry, by ending saying
(27:07):
I don't go for that blank, tells me that, Okay,
who's the one upset in that situation? The mom is
right because the kid is happy because the dad said okay.
The dad loves the kid, said okay, have whatever you want.
The upset guy, and the upset one is the mom.
Who's the one who's upset right now? It's Jerry Jones.
Jerry could be the kid, or the dad or the
mom in this bleeping thing.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
Jason, I think Jerry's the I mean I think the
agent is the dad and Jerry's the mom.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Like you said, you think that's what it is.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Yeah, maybe, because if you think about it, it's like
the agent is the one who's saying, Okay, yeah, you
can have all these guarantees, you can have all this
money you're asking for, when Jerry the mom just told
him no, you can't have that.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Huh, Ian Roddy getting deep into this. You know what,
maybe Jerry's all three. Maybe he's the mom. And the
dad in the kid.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
The mind of Jerry Jones is impossible to dissect, that's
for sure.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Maybe he is the mom, the dad, and the kid.
That could be what it is. I'm digging that. I'm dadda,
but I mean, really, he could be literally be any
one of those three in the in the scenario.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Well, now it's a full Christopher Nolan kind of interception.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
At that moment, he just stands in front of Stephen A.
Smith and spins the top and you watch it to
see if it falters just.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
A little bit.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
I mean, we're we're quite sure which guy is actually
telling us the story here. It's an unreliable narrator. It's
a little unusual suspect.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
He just forgot what he was saying in the middle
of his center.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
No, I mean that would be Jerry. So we got
that going.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
I mean, like there there's a million permutations to this
coming out of three characters, but all all of it
to say, I mean, as we we broke down a
bit yesterday, right, Mulligeta a guy who has had his
share of difficult contract negotiations, And what Jerry really kept
coming back to was we don't need the third man
in the room. It's like, well, based on the rules
(28:47):
of engagement with the PA, which really is UH as
we've talked about a fairly useless organization right now with sure, Hey,
who do we actually send this appeal to or you know,
to have you look into this.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
It's going to a fax machine that's currently unnanned. It's
just piling up.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
We send it.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
I mean we're waiting on confirmation. Yeah, nobody's in that office. So' look.
The takeaway of this is what we have told you
months ago. And I love today that a couple people
got credit on social media and on the internet for
saying exactly what we told you a month.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
This is why we call the show ahead of the curve.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Jerry Jones knows he can't win on the field. It's
a thirty year track record of I don't know how
to build a team. The only reason we won a
Super Bowls because when I took over his owner, we
already had the guys in there.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
We had the coach, we had the players, we had
everything right. That's the only reason we won. It's a
thirty year track record of I can't win on the field,
but I went off the field all the time I
went in business, I went in relevancy, and I went
in attention to the Dallas Cowboys. Right. We've told you
that for a lot.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Jerry Jones knows he can't win on the field, so
we tries to win off the field. Congratulations to everybody
who stole that and picked it up today. Congratulations. Just
send Mike and Eye money. At this point, I don't
really care about recognition. Just just send a check and
I'll get it. It'll be like a royalty check it.
I'll put it in my bank account for my kids.
Speaker 9 (30:07):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Uh for Mike and I put in our back counts
for for our kids college education.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
This is who Jerry Jones is. He knows we're not
gonna win this season. We're not gonna beat the Eagles.
Why not, not gonna finish out of the commanders most likely?
Speaker 4 (30:19):
How do I win?
Speaker 1 (30:19):
I win now, I win the battle of relevancy and
the Cowboys and the worth of the organization, and how
no matter what kind of year we have, people still
pay attention to Dallas Cowboys more than anybody else. This
is why we're getting what we're getting with Micah Parsons
all summer long.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Yeah, I mean the continued battle and what's what's real,
what's imagined in terms of this divide. I mean there's
pictures of Jerry Posen for photos with Micah's mom uh
at the game today, so you got that that fun
that kind of flows out as well. Boy, but all
of it to say, right, what where? Where's the divide?
Speaker 4 (30:52):
Right?
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Other than uh, to some degree, Muligeta feels like, you know,
he got he got run around a bit. I mean,
if they had in principle, devil in the details. But
I'm gonna make you the highest paid guy non quarterback. Okay, check,
I'm gonna do this.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
Check. It's like, all right, let's go finish out the details.
But because you felt.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Slighted, because remember there's a lot of NFL owners that
don't like Muligeti.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
He was the guy that gave all.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
The guaranteed money and got all the guaranteed money for
Deshaun Watson because the Browns being dumb. So, I mean,
there's always gonna be some antagonism there, whether you like
it or not. Right, that's always gonna be part of
the background. As well as a number of tough negotiations,
hold out situations and others that have been orchestrated in
the past.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
But as I've said.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
With you with the Bengals all along with the hendricks
Hendrickson thing, Mike is a fine player, fantastic player. What's
he worth to the win total? That's the end game here.
Great for headlines, great for us, but in the end,
you know, is he the difference between that Cowboys team
winning a Vision or not?
Speaker 4 (32:00):
No exit?
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Out about a Fresco exit swollen Dome. The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon time, how to
find out what's trending in the wide world of sports
of someone who is a little upset right now because
the Padres have just tied the game with the Dodgers
that won apiece.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
It's Monty Blagos.
Speaker 10 (32:18):
Thank you for that, Jason, I figured, so now.
Speaker 4 (32:20):
You don't have to do the score, thank you. You
can start with the start with the Mets, and no
one looks right. You're right, You're right.
Speaker 10 (32:26):
I don't have to say anything else. That's a tie
game in San Diego. Your all goodness? Is it still
a tie game? Okay, I'll get back to that. All right,
We'll start with your Mets. Why not because they had
twenty one hits today, Jason Juan Soto a two run shot.
They outscored the Braves twelve to seven. Nationals held on
against the Phillies five to four. Red Sox edged the
Yankees one zero, so Boston moves past New York for
(32:49):
second in the Al East. There was also a loose
squirrel in the fourth inning, and the Bronx was a
lot of fun to watch. Tigers have won four in
a row. They scored four runs in the seventh inning
to beat the Royals seven to five.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
What's going on right now?
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Ring with Monty so Base, it was that it was
that scene from up where the dog is saying, now
we have to squirrel.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Everybody stopped and ran stopped, and.
Speaker 10 (33:07):
There's a video and it was like a whole minute long.
They could because it's kind of hard to catch a squirrel,
and they were just letting the squirrel run. I didn't
know where to go. It went everywhere, poor little squirrel.
I hope they didn't kill it. But I don't know.
I don't know what happens in those situations.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
Guys, right, just say you don't know what happened.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
I hope it's not dead. I mean, you know, we
want you know, it's a Friday night Monte.
Speaker 10 (33:29):
Losing now, Okay, so my positivity is out the window.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
Twins are edging the possible dead squirrel.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Okay, I think more people would be okay with the
Dodgers losing a game in the fourth inning, then oh,
say that cute squirrel.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Yeah it's dead. Yeah, that's alive. It's live.
Speaker 10 (33:44):
And well it's alive, and well there you go. Twins
are etching the White Sox eight seven, top of the ninth.
Guardians and Rangers are. I think Texas just may have
walked it off. I believe that's what's happening right now,
Rangers against the Guardians because it's the bottom of the ninth.
Innian and I see celebration on my green four to
three final score. Brewers have taken the lead from the
Giants four to three, bottom of the eighth. Cubs up
(34:04):
on the Angels two zero, top of the fifth, Reds
edging the Diamondbacks two to one, bottom of the third.
A's are beating the Mariners, who have lost four in
a row, one zero. Brent Rooker with the home run
to the top of the third. There and yes, now
the Padres are edging the Dodgers in San Diego two
to one bottom of the fourth inning. When it comes
to NFL preseason, your Jets may still make this comeback here.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
I know why.
Speaker 10 (34:27):
So excited against the Eagles. Adrian Martinez in at quarterback.
Eagles are up nineteen seventeen with a minute to go,
so we'll see how it goes there. Cowboys on top
of the Falcons twenty four to thirteen early in the
fourth quarter. Brandon Aubrey had a sixty four yard field
goal already in this game. The Titans are on top
of the Vikings twenty to thirteen halfway through the fourth quarter,
and late in the third the Chiefs have extended their
(34:49):
lead over the Bears twenty seven to ten. Patrick Mahomes
did play into the second quarter eight of thirteen, one
hundred and forty three yards and a touchdown pass to
Rishie Rice.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
Yes, we got more NFL on the way coming up next.
What teams fan base has gone from with Defcon one
is the easiest one? In Defcon five is the worst one?
Right I think?
Speaker 4 (35:15):
So?
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Whatever it was, whatever whichever deft you know what, what
teams fan base is now absolutely on the verge of
melting down after what happened tonight.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
That's next right here, Jason of Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Fox.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
Yeat, Well, here we are.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
We are about thirteen a little bit less than that,
thirteen hours away from the beginning of the college football season.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
And a big game.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
The air Lingis college football class taking place in Antarctica,
Okay in Ireland number twenty two, Iowa State, number seventeen,
Kansas State. We have five games on the slate tomorrow.
It is zero week in college football.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
We made it. We are here and it is joyous
and glorious.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
My friend, did you start, you know, just tearing up
a little bit as you started thinking about it, you know,
running out of the field that bogus notre dame logo
that they put out. Now, you know what, I started
thinking about it, and I mean, this is not the
college football needs something else. But you know, because they
talk about how long the season is, but man, college
(36:40):
football goes away for so long, right, Like, you know,
but college it goes away for so long because you
can't really get excited about spring practice.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
There's that.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Yeah, you get the you know, you get the signing
period and new players, but no, no, even the most
staunchious to college football fans. Yeah, you see great highlights
of these kids. You don't know how they're gonna be
at the next level.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
What the are gonna be?
Speaker 9 (37:00):
Like?
Speaker 1 (37:00):
College football goes away for so long. Man, Again, it
makes every week just absolutely filled with gold. But man,
I'd love him to figure out a way to uh,
you know, make college football come back a little bit
sooner and go a little bit longer.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
Yeah, I mean, I just give it time.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Once we once we get to this forty eight team playoff, yeah,
I mean SEC now is going to do nine conference games.
We talked about that a little bit, so I mean
you add that, I mean, you start parsing it all out.
It's like, well, there's a way we can pad an
extra month in here, pretty easy.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Joining us now in the hot line for all the
big news.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
College Footballnews dot Com Insider, Grand Pooba editor prognosticator.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
It is longtime front of the show.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
He is on Twitter at Pete futech it is Pete
feu tech.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
What's happening? Man? Congratulations we made it to another season.
Speaker 8 (37:51):
Oh man, I've exhausted, all righty?
Speaker 9 (37:53):
No, how many years have I been coming on this show?
So you want to know the annual rite of passage
since a nineteen seventy five ishes, I think the first
time I came out with you.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
Guys, and just that sounds about right.
Speaker 9 (38:05):
It's this idea that tomorrow Week zero should be National
Day of Cupcakes, where it is FBS versus FCS schools.
All home games for the FBS schools. You get a
free game, it's on campus.
Speaker 8 (38:21):
You just get a free win. Shouldn't be a problem.
Speaker 9 (38:24):
You get to tune up, like you shouldn't have Texas
and Ohio State going at it in week one. You know,
you shouldn't have a big twelve game that's as important
as Kansas State and ioway stay without a preseason game.
You get it all out of the way and then
no more FCS games after that. That should be tomorrow,
when all the students are on campus and ready to roll.
(38:44):
That's been my proposal, and someday, God willing, we were
going to get this Pete.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
I'd like to say there's I got a hole in
your in your theory, but there's not. I mean, this
is I mean, how many teams FBS teams would say, yes,
we want that one week to see what we have
and be able to make moves and have a home
game against an FCS team that we're going to destroy.
But they don't care because they're gonna get paid. I mean,
(39:10):
that's a great You want to talk about having a
you know, having an idea that I can't believe everybody
wouldn't agree to. That's an idea that everybody would agree to.
Speaker 9 (39:18):
And you have again I know because I just dropped
it off on campus. Everyone would go every play it's
nights right now.
Speaker 8 (39:25):
Everyone wants something to do.
Speaker 9 (39:26):
They're instead of a soft opening with you know, games
in Ireland which should not be happening. You know, just
have a one week, just get out of the way.
Because to tie this into everything else you kind of mentioned. Okay, yeah,
college football offseat season is so long, but this year
was particularly tough because there's no buzz around quarterbacks because
(39:49):
there aren't any other than arch. It's the story of
the off season. It's like still we're about to kick
off the season in a few hours, and no way
that ninety nine nine percent of all college football fans
can name the starting quarterback for Michigan and Oregon and
Notre Dame and Alabama and Ohio State. I mean, it's
(40:12):
just there's so many new quarterbacks this year, and going
back to your gal thought, it would be nice for
all of them to have one game just to get
the gips out of their system.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
Ready, The one.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Thing I will say is the team the schools FBS
schools are going to say, uh, these games will be
counted towards Bowl eligibility, correct, Okay, yes.
Speaker 9 (40:35):
And then that's it, yep, And that's eligibility because instead
of having okay, so we're having a nine game SEC schedule,
So insteading of having that data gainst mercer in mid November,
which you know I've always defended because of fine, So
a team plays the SEC team plays their SCS game,
you know, late in the season instead of the beginning.
(40:55):
All right, it all kind of counts the same. You
get them out of the way and here we go.
But yeah, but we get start, we get this matters tomorrow.
Speaker 8 (41:03):
Look, this is a real game.
Speaker 9 (41:04):
I mean this again, Kansas State and Iowa State. Those
two teams one of them was, you know, good enough
to win the Big twelve championship. Were just about to
see you know which one it is. And in such
a tight weak this year, you're getting an elimination game
out there in Dublin, right out of the gates.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
Well, that's just said, let's start while we're at it
right there, three point spread Kansas State, you're fifty one
the total, So expecting some fireworks more than just kicking
for one of these Irish traverses this year.
Speaker 9 (41:34):
And this is where gosh, for the for the investment community,
this one, it's week zero Week one always Christmas because
it's if you can kind of figure it out, and
then if you can find an.
Speaker 8 (41:47):
Investment in an FBS versus.
Speaker 9 (41:48):
SBS game and just keep tumbling the SPS teams and
assume that it's going to end up being fifty one
to three every time out, you're going to be all right.
So in this one though, Kansas it's a little bit
more experienced, you know.
Speaker 8 (42:02):
But Ioways State's good.
Speaker 9 (42:03):
They lost all the receivers to the NFL. They got
a great running game, two good quarterbacks, and you know,
it starts out early, especially at your time. I mean
I think was at nine am, kicked off in the
Pacific time zone. So we get this thing started right away,
it should be a pretty good one.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Look, I mean I got a feeling that that zero
week this is not really how they wrote it out
to be. Like I think you would probably want some
bigger schools at least getting on the on the docket.
But look, at least we have the games tomorrow, right, like,
we'll turn Stanford in Hawaii into something that seems like
this is a really big deal.
Speaker 4 (42:38):
Matter.
Speaker 3 (42:38):
We heard that final game stand for Hawaii CBS and
four point thirty.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
You're not getting anything like this the rest of the way.
Speaker 9 (42:45):
Well, let's just call it the soft opening is you know,
just make sure that the dranks are cold, and you know,
the food comes out on time, and you know the
lights work. You just kind of you we're just gonna
get this thing moving a little bit. But you're right,
it's and you know, remember last here it was Florida
State Georgia Tech to open the season in Ireland, and
Florida State was coming off of the ACT and so
(43:06):
that was kind of a big deal. And the year
before Notre Dame you know, was in you know, Ireland,
so whoopee do and then he destroyed maybe and the
year before that it was being Nebraska gagoy. So you're right,
it's Kansas State and Iowa State aren't going to necessarily
move the needle. But again, these two these weren't good.
Speaker 8 (43:25):
I mean one of these teams.
Speaker 9 (43:26):
And again these are two teams that could end up
playing in the Big twelve Championship, and they each of
are good enough to potentially be in you know what
it is now twelve team college football playoffs. So it
is actually what probably the best matchup we've had since.
Speaker 8 (43:40):
They started doing this Ireland thing.
Speaker 9 (43:43):
But again, those two teams don't exactly have the national base.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
I do appreciate that right now Florida State fans having
flashbacks as soon as you invoked memories of last year.
Speaker 8 (43:53):
Yeah there you go. Look, yeah, not my fault. They
were bad.
Speaker 9 (43:57):
And you know, let's hey, what twenty twenty three beat
him twice? Basically, will no question about. It's called Kirk
Kurves three.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
It's fault, well it is, Yeah, well we'll blame him
while we're at it. The only other top twenty five
team on the field. Here in Week zero, you got
Boise State on the road at South Florida Pete.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
It's a sixty four for the total.
Speaker 9 (44:19):
That's a lot of points. That's that's a little two penny,
but like that's actually, you know, we didn't talking about that.
That's a fun game too, because again we're talking about
you know, crazy as it sounds that we're talking about
this right now, but that is college football playoff implications too,
because you know, this is kind of it for Boise State,
don't have a whole lot of other games out there
(44:39):
that they can really hang their hats on. So I
let's see if they can do this and down in Tampa,
Florida where it's not going to be necessarily cool and inviting.
And for UCF, who has been you know, dabbling with
being really good under head coach Alex Skullish for the
next last two years, that's kind of one of those
sleeper teams that all, right, who's the team, it's going
(45:00):
to be the sacrificial lamb and gets the you know,
everyone gets a cookie twelve spot in this playoff. Well,
it might be USF if everything kind of works out
as planned, because they've got the talent there now they
just have to see if they can actually, you know,
get to see going already.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
College Footballnews dot COM's Pete Futech with us Jason Smith
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Let
me take you out of the games tomorrow to this
big story involving Arch Manning. Last week you said, listen,
you were stuck up on arch Manning stock down on Texas.
But a new book coming out, American Kings of Biography
of the Quarterback by Seth Wickershaman, And we've heard a
lot about this over the course of the past few weeks,
(45:39):
different quarterbacks that he's following at different levels of the game,
and a big headline.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
That's coming out of the book.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
New York Posts had it, other different websites had it
today that when Alabama was recruiting arch Manning, they use
Steve Sarkisian's alcoholism that he went through in the past
to try to lure him away from Alabama. Now, Pete Golding,
who was then Alabama defensive coordinator, when he was talking
(46:07):
to arch Manning trying to recruit him, said Hey, I
love sark He's my best friend. I hope he can
stay sober, like this is in a zoom call with
Arch Manning where they're talking about schematics and culture and
then said, I love Sark, He's my best friend. I
hope he can stay sober. What was your reaction when
you saw this story, Oh.
Speaker 9 (46:26):
It's fair in love and recruiting and just.
Speaker 8 (46:29):
It's you know, this is this is you know.
Speaker 9 (46:31):
The game. I mean, it's not pretty. It is just
everyone will say everything, everyone will try everything, and this
is where, you know, in the case, this specific case
is a little bit different because if you're if you're
negative recruiting like that, and every since the beginning of
football recruiting, there's always been negative recruiting. This is ugly obviously,
(46:52):
it's not you know, you know I say stuff like that,
but uh, there's always been some sort of negative recruiting
of some sort. And if you can find anything, hopefully
not like this, that you can use against someone who
might take your guy away, well yeah, you're probably gonna
use it.
Speaker 8 (47:08):
The difference here being the is it's the Mannings, and.
Speaker 9 (47:12):
They they did a butt as thorough as certainty. No
one knows the infrastructure of football more than the entire
Manning family. So if The problem with that is, Okay,
even if he's you know, even by saying this, you
got to believe that the Mannings vetted Sarkisian every which
way before making this call, and they specifically went there
(47:34):
because they wanted him to be the guy who.
Speaker 8 (47:36):
Tutored this tutored this kid.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
All right, Pete, let me go one more legal eese,
go back to my alma mater just down the road
from you. Pat Fitzgerald and the settlement with Northwestern, their
long letter to say, hey, we found nothing to connect
him directly to any of this. Uh, they can they
get him back on campus for the new stadium in
Evanston or is he taken over for old kirk Keet,
(48:00):
Iowa at some point?
Speaker 4 (48:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (48:01):
You know that he was an interesting situation before because
you know, if you took this out of the equation, uh,
he wasn't exactly rocking.
Speaker 7 (48:11):
You know.
Speaker 9 (48:11):
The Northwestern was okay, I mean obviously pulled off a couple.
Speaker 8 (48:14):
Of miraculous seasons here and.
Speaker 9 (48:16):
There, but it was you know this, he wasn't actually
doing a great job on the field and win and
losses when this all came down. So, uh, yeah, I've
always kind of thought too that he I'm kind of
shocked that he hasn't been, you know, done the you know,
the coordinator thing somewhere where uh, you know, you can
name the coach and you know, any sort of scandal
(48:37):
whether you know, curns out fine for him or not,
and that coach will end up being a defensive cordator.
Let's go back to Sarkegian, you know, after the USC thing,
what did he do?
Speaker 8 (48:46):
He was you know the you know back under Saban.
Speaker 9 (48:49):
You know, the low level flea for you know, under
Saban staff where you're sitting in the back and you
just kind of take notes and stuff and you just
kind of work your way back up into all of
a sudden everyone remembers, Oh, yeah, you're a great coach.
I'm kind of surprised that Cheryld hasn't done that to
just keep it keep.
Speaker 8 (49:04):
You know, keep his legs going.
Speaker 9 (49:06):
But yeah, I kind of think that this as a
very least we'll get him a few looks and some
offers again.
Speaker 1 (49:12):
He's on Twitter at pete Feutech. That is, at petefeutech
college footballnews dot com. You're one stop shopping for everything
college football, all the picks, all the prognostications going into
week zero. Pete, you got eight hundred words on your
FBS FCS zero week.
Speaker 4 (49:28):
Is that right up there?
Speaker 8 (49:29):
Or what I creaked?
Speaker 9 (49:30):
Four hundred in the new era of Google. That's killing
the entire industry and.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
It's what's one long post? It's it's actually three hundred
characters on Twitter?
Speaker 4 (49:42):
Is what I have? Again.
Speaker 1 (49:43):
Check out College Footballnews dot com. Everything you could ever
want for college football it is right there, Pete.
Speaker 4 (49:49):
Enjoy the games.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
We'll talk to you next week when we're looking at
Week one playoffs and Heisman Trophy winners.
Speaker 9 (49:53):
Let's go guys week on Welcome Home Buddy.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
Great stuff from Pete feutech right there. I love that
idea FBS FCS week one. That's an awesome It's it's
getting a practice game without getting a practice game. It's
getting a win when you I mean that that that
should appeal to everybody. That is a phenomenal idea.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
Well, and they all get their couple hundred thousand dollars
buy ins to help fuel the program, and they get
it early. The the sec thing I disagree with, Pete.
I've always hated that coming at the end of the years.
Here's a bye week before a rivalry game to end
the SEC schedule. But you know, however it comes out
(50:33):
in the wash, I guess folks have been happy enough
with it. But yeah, this would certainly solve a lot
of issues and we get a preseason.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. So someone who's been called the Heisman
Trophy of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (50:51):
That's the best trophy.
Speaker 4 (50:52):
If you're trying to.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
Take a bobble head out of her hand, she gets
you that stiff farm, you are not getting it.
Speaker 10 (50:57):
It's absolutely is the best trophy. That's the one I
would if I could just, you know, pick a trophy
to win that I didn't earn, it would be the Heisman.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
Yeah. Oh, very okay, very good.
Speaker 2 (51:07):
I like that one for sure.
Speaker 4 (51:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (51:09):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (51:09):
The NFL prep season. You know what, my kids, it is,
it is it is. I am a fan.
Speaker 10 (51:17):
I'm a fan. The four games for Week three of
the NFL preseason that we had on this Friday night
have wrapped up. The Eagles held on nineteen seventeen against
the Jets. The Bears came back to beat the Chiefs
twenty eight to twenty seven as Tyson Baigeon threw his
third touchdown pass with three seconds left on the clock.
The Falcons defeated the Cowboys start he went to thirteen
and the Titans top the Vikings twenty three to twelve.
(51:38):
Buck Rising, who is our colleague on the weekends here
at Fox Sports Radio and covers the Titans closely.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
He revealed that there was.
Speaker 10 (51:46):
A not suitable, not suitable for work green item that
was thrown on the field.
Speaker 4 (51:52):
Bilbo Baggins, Jason oh Okay, Yes, another.
Speaker 10 (51:57):
Another one was thrown on the field, and this one
was at the tight game and I looked it up.
Just he was the first one that had the story
on the video. Now it looks like more people are
coming out with the story. NFL Pro Football Network has it,
so Buck Rising first with the details on the green
item that went onto the field. In baseball, four games
going on, Ohanniel Swat has just tied the game for
(52:19):
the Mariners against the A's in Seattle one to one,
bottom of the six, Padres edging the Dodgers in San
Diego two to one bottom of the eighth. Xander Bogarts
with the sack fly that gave the Padres the lead.
Diamondbacks edging the Reds forty three bottom of the seventh,
and the Cubs and the Angels are tied.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
To to top of the eighth.
Speaker 10 (52:34):
The Brewers walked it off five to four against the
Giants on a William Contrera's home run. The Rangers walked
it off forty three against the Guardians on a Jock
Peterson RBI double. Tigers have won four in a row.
They defeated the Royal seven to five, Red Sox edge
the Yankees one zero. Boston moves past New York for
second place in the Al East, and the Mets had
twenty one hits and they took down the Braves twelve
to seven.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch buch Yes, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon lot from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Yeah,
uh not the only bit of drama going on at
a preseason game tonight.
Speaker 4 (53:06):
Wait until we tell you what happened.
Speaker 1 (53:10):
A picture has gone viral in the final preseason game tonight.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
Of the Dallas Cowboys. That's next Jason and Mike Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon, Padres and the Dodgers right now, top
of the ninth inning, Padres up two to one. Show
Heo Tani has just flown out to the wall in
dead center field. Padres fans breathing a sigh of relief.
He almost got it, uh but one out top of
(53:57):
the ninth inning. Padres looking to get a measure of
revenge against otying.
Speaker 4 (54:02):
The Dodgers for last week. And we'll have more in
this game coming up in a few minutes.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
But you know, sometimes you think, well, we're not gonna
get drama in a game where no stars are playing,
where the biggest story is is Joe Milton really any good?
Speaker 4 (54:15):
Oh? No, no, no.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
The poker game that has been going on with Jerry
Jones and Micah Parsons and really Michah Parsons agent, where
each side keeps raising the other until one of them
says that's it, I'm done, and that means either Micah
Parsons demands a trade and leaves Cowboys camp or Jerry
Jones says I'm giving you money or I'm trading you.
(54:38):
The latest step was taken not too long ago. A
picture that has started to go viral. This after the
last couple of days where Jerry Jones has gone on
the pr offensive about Micah Parsons contract situation where he said,
we had an offer and his agent told us to
stick it up our blank. And today he does an
interview and he talks about how he he doesn't have
(55:00):
time for craziness going on and everybody's gotta be happy.
There's no room for Michaeh Parson's agent and everything going on,
like Jerry's going on the big media blitz this week. Okay,
Michaeh Parson decided to see Jerry Jones's media blitz and
raise you me looking like I am sleeping on the
(55:20):
sideline of the game against the Falcons tonight. Now it's
tough to see if he actually is sleeping, but he's
laying on a table with his eyes closed, his hand
over his eyes, like, Okay, you want to say this
stuff about me, I'll show you I really don't want
to be here right like, and again, for everybody who
(55:41):
says this is gonna work out and Jerry's gonna give
Michael Parsons his money, it's never been antagonistic at all ever,
between Jerry and the players that he's eventually paid.
Speaker 4 (55:53):
Has it been business?
Speaker 1 (55:54):
Yeah, Ezekie Olli holding out, that's business, right, Dak, When
that's business, It's never been antagonistic. This is as antagonistic
and combative as you could possibly get with Jerry Jones,
Michah Parsons and his agent. And with every day it's
getting worse and worse and the optics get.
Speaker 4 (56:11):
More and more ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (56:13):
Tell me how this is gonna end with Michaeh Parsons
getting paid? Tell me if I know, Jerry Jones is
talking big saying no trade, know anything. But eventually Michaeh
Parsons he's gonna leave camp and Jerry Jones is not
gonna have him. He's not gonna be ready to start
the season, and he's gonna trade him someplace else where.
Michah Parsons will get paid. That's how, as April Lavine
taught us in Skater Boy, that's how the story ends.
Speaker 4 (56:35):
Wow, you're trying to quote Skater Boy? Why out here?
All right?
Speaker 3 (56:39):
So Michael Parsons declined to comment leaving the stadium. John
Bachota on Twitter. Trevon Diggs stepped up to answer questions
will Mike up practice next week? Quote, I don't know.
His back is kind of tight. He had to get
an MRI today. I don't know. So other than him
coming out and saying, you know, they didn't provide me
with the proper uh, you know, lumbar support on the sideline,
(57:02):
I think he just lost a bit Micah parts, lost
a lot of the good will he might have been
building with fans of the team. Maybe not teammates, but
certainly fans of the team, going, really, this is how
we're gonna respond. They'd rather sit there for four hours
and do a podcast, uh and air him out then
then do this this This is just childlike.
Speaker 4 (57:25):
What are we doing? Yeah? Like this was just and
now he's he's been put in the middle.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
So like this mom and dad are fighting, and then
Mike is just gonna sit there and lay down and.
Speaker 4 (57:34):
Hold his breath. Well, I don't know. Back to that
again versus Jerry Jones.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
Oh see, I thought you're going back to him laying
on the table where it looks like he could be
laying on the table holding his breath instead of sleeping.
Speaker 4 (57:47):
No, but that's just it. I'm holding my breath, La
la la la la. But no, but that just but
that didn't get what I want.
Speaker 1 (57:53):
So now now I'm here, that shows you how bad
of a situation this is. That, this is where we're at.
We're at the ridiculous part of this, where Jerry Jones
is saying crazy stuff every day, cursing in every interview
he does. And here's Micah Parsons unfollowing the Cowboys on
social media, falling asleep back the gain. Honestly, I can't
believe Parsons is still with the Cowboys out he would
(58:15):
get all that money back.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
The way the deal works at this point is he
would get the fifty thousand dollars a day. So the
fact that he's been around looking like he wants to
be on the field at every time until he decided
to sleep today.
Speaker 4 (58:32):
You know what, apprentice? This during a preseason game. This
is a long week. Man, I'm exhausted, all right, I'm
just gonna get some rest here.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
By the way, we always knew Jerry worked blues, so
it's good to see that he's finally just letting it fly.
Speaker 1 (58:46):
Yeah again, tell me how this ends, Okay, tell me
how this ends?
Speaker 4 (58:50):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (58:51):
With you with Jerry Jones, and Michael Parson. Again, it's
never been this bed with Jerry and anybody. There have
been insults like there is now never been. Keep your
raging out of it. That's the holy room for two
of us in this negotiation. And guess what your age
is not one of them. I mean, tell me, tell
me where this ends well.
Speaker 4 (59:06):
I mean I don't. I fail to see where this
ends well.
Speaker 1 (59:09):
And it doesn't end with Michael Parsons eventually on a
different team.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
I like the chaos factor that comes in because we
talked about it a lot with you know, Jerry, out
of spite, could just be that guy to say, you
know what, on principle, I'm just not I'm not training
him because doing that I could see.
Speaker 1 (59:27):
Him for a little while. But then he will do it.
It will become such a it will become such a
distraction story. He will do it knowing full well he's
never gonna play for us again. Because you'll get the
same thing for Parsons in season, you'll get out of season.
You'll get the same thing because he's a young player
that you got a sign to be so you'll still
get that big haul for him in the middle of
the season. You'll still get that then, and you might
get him for some of this year. Yeah, he's just
(59:49):
he just gets the quarterback. Jerry Jones just pays the money.
Can I make it any more obvious? Big stuff out
of the NFL Next Fox
