This is the best of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Welcome inside, Happy Thursday, the Jason Smith Show with
my base.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Friend Mike Hard I'm an ass man.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
For over forty years, Tyrerack's been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped
fast and free backed by Free Road, has protection with
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation tirerac dot com.
He is the way tire buying should be. Well, I'll
tell you what, Mike I am. I'm really embarrassed right now.

(01:00):
I'm really embarrassed. Tell you how embarrassed I am right
now this moment in time.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
In this moment in time, the Mets won six to one,
so they didn't do it too Now the mets Alonzo
is thirty seventh home or thirty seven.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
King Tong, King Tong, ain't God blake on me, King Tom.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Eventually someone puts on the turn a kit and stops
them bleeding. All right, So we got that going on.
We got some Thursday night football. And that's why I'm embarrassed.
That's why you're embarrassed. Why I'm embarrassed. Why is that?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Well, because right now I love jumping in Mondays and
Thursdays are so great.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
We jump right in with a oh an NFL game,
second half just getting underway.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, about eight and a half to go, and the
Bills are holding on to a twenty one to fourteen
lead over the Dolphins. Somehow, a game the Bills should
be winning by fifty. The Dolphins are a touchdown down
despite the fact that Tua has thrown for sixty yards tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
An operational efficiency. Man, it doesn't need to be gaudy, and.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
They're not running the football like crazy, sixty seven yards rushing.
And now Ali Gordon started to get a chance here running.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
The foot, well, you know, there he is.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
There's a tweet that will read someone related to the
Ali Gordon touchdown.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
A little later, the Bills offense has been the Bills
offense right, Like Josh Allen's got two touchdowns, James Cook
because it's seventy six in a touchdown, Dalton Kincaid having
the big night, maybe the year three breakout for a
tight end. But this is why I'm embarrassed. This is
why I'm embarrassed, because the Dolphins are terrible.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
We talked about this last night. If the Dolphins somehow
win this game, it would be the biggest upset of
the twenty twenties. As bad as things have been for
the Dolphins the first two weeks, we've had other games
with a little bit bigger points present. I think they
went off at like thirteen point dogs today, close to
thirteen some woy, wow we.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Got back out there because I saw it at eleven
earlier today, So maybe a late swell.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
But yeah, they thought Bob Greasy was playing quarterback. Well maybe,
and so this would be as bad as it's been
the first week of a no show. The second week
they lose at home at one o'clock on Sunday, where
they won like eighty percent of their games the last
forty years. It's as embarrassing as it could be and
here are the Dolphins hanging close right. It's a one

(03:09):
score game midway through the third quarter. Somehow this game
pad defying logic that the Bills have like three hundred
yards of nearly threehnd yards to total offense and yet
it's a one score game.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
This is why I'm embarrassed.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Well, a little bit of juice coming right off the
jump with the opening kickoff return fifty four yards, putting
them in plus field position. Hence you didn't need all
the yardage and the gaudy stats for the first possession
which ended with that touchdown run that you mentioned before
from Ali Gordon, much to the chagrin of a lot

(03:41):
of fantasy owners who are looking Christmas. But we've seen
some opportunities for Tyreek Hill to make plays. He actually
made a nice catch over the middle late in that
first half that helps set up their second score. But yeah,
for the Bills, they've moved the ball pretty well. Both
offensive lines have just looked terrible for a good chunk
of this game. Some good blocking out out front by

(04:02):
the Bills wide receiver setting up that Dalton Kincaid big
catch down to the three. A little earlier before the
James Cook touchdown run. But all of that to say,
you had a great possession that ended in a really
horribly shanked field goal attempt by Matt Prater. So there's
some points on the board. And like the Dolphins are prideful,
they weren't gonna go down without a fight. Now, will

(04:24):
they have enough to stand up when it's all said
and done, and will we get past the eleven, the
twelve to thirteen wherever you got in on that time continue,
I don't know, but yeah, for Tua and company, they've
they've at least showed a little bit of fight after
no showing for two weeks. Now, here's why I'm embarrassed. Now,
this is why you're Here's why I'm embarrassed. Right, Yeah,

(04:45):
all great coaching points about the Dolphins. The Dolphins still stink, right,
They still there.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Still they stink.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
They sail, but they're trying. This game is a one
score game. Yeah, midway through the third quarter, the Jets
had one hundred yards of offense on the Bills going
to the final drive of the game. Last week, Justin
Fields completed two passes. The Jets may be even worse
than I think they are. That's how bad it that's

(05:11):
what that's where this got do. That's where this got
your brain Goinghills put out a body game on Sunday,
a sea game. In fact, I didn't even think they
took postgame showers. Hey, we just get right in the
plane and go back. They don't need a shower.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
We all feel good.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
He has.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Listen, I think we have a little bit of a
drought going on. We're okay right here. We're just gonna
let let the let the Jets do their thing. We
don't need everyone.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Just go to the Just get on the bus and
you know, I just get on the bus, go back
to the airport.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
We'll fly back.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
It was a sea game for the Bills on Sunday,
a sea game, and they dusted the Jets, and the
Jets looked like they were absolute starting over at which
they kind of are, like they're starting over again for
the thirteenth time in the last fourteen years. Uh, the
Jets might be worse than even Like I knew after
Week one, Hey, everything isn't gonna be sunshine, lollipops and
rainbows going into week two, because they're gonna they're gonna ree.

(06:00):
Sometimes week one ends your season. And that was an
awful loss to Rogers and the Steelers, and it wasn't
full of optimism. It was everything went right for the
Jets and they still lost. So of course they come
up flat next week against Buffalo, which I've seen a
million times, and now that they might be one of
the worst teams in the NFL, Like, like, I don't know,
I don't This is where I've gone with the first
two and a half quarters of this game. Is I

(06:22):
went from Hey, in the last couple of weeks, Hey,
maybe the Jets can do a t be a team
that hangs around five hundred most of the season, gets
into December where the season isn't lost. And this time
next year we're thinking about the Jets a little bit differently,
and Aaron Glenn is doing But really, the Jets might
be as bad as the Saints, as bad as the Browns,
as bad as a lot of these teams, because this

(06:43):
doesn't make any sense at all. How the Dolphins who
quit before the season began. It's a one score game,
it's a close game on the road on Thursday night.
They're keeping this a close game, and the Jets just
got boat Right's Like, I really they may be I mean,
Jets Saints, Browns like they may be the three worst
teams in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Well, maybe the Jets really actually tend to rize them
and it was a tougher battle than you thought. Or
maybe the Bills are sleepwalking thinking they had a walkover
opponent coming in, even if it is a divisional game.
But to that point, I mean, we watched some big
holes open up. We saw a chan with a couple

(07:23):
of runs. You saw the touchdown from Gordon who has
had some time to throw this Bill's defense, and again
this doesn't make you feel any better, but they can
be gotten. For the Jets coming into the year, what
were they add five and a half or six wins?
I know you were optimistic that culture and everything that
is built would happen in year one. I think they're

(07:46):
showing you the other By the way, the Dolphins are
only at six and a half wins, so they're not
exactly running away and hiding here, but certainly a much
better effort and yet another one of these early season
divisional games.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
This is just just it makes me just okay, all right,
then I need the Mets to fly me over to
the Necks, fly me over the Jets and into the Knicks.
That's what I need. That's how bad it is, Like
I really I think this is so. I'm so at
the point where, hey, after you know, there's oh and
two teams in the NFL so far that's that are bad. Yeah,
there's oh and two teams in the NFL that are

(08:21):
good with rough starts, that still have a chance to
pull themselves out if it. Teams like the Chiefs and
the Texans. Sure, and there's also teams well you're oh
and two because you're oh and two when you stink.
And clearly the Dolphins are are better than the Jets.
Seeing this right now, so I'd say the Jets and Cleveland,
even Tennessee as bad as they're starting over with cam
Ward who and then they let them throw the ball
eight times and a half.

Speaker 6 (08:41):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Even the Giants almost beat the Cowboys are better. Even
the Bears, who at least are scoring some points a
little bit in their offenses, is a little bit better
than you think it is. Even Carolina is closer. I mean,
if these oh and two, I realized it's the Jets
and the Saints and the Browns right that tho these
are gonna be comfortably the path. There's time there. But
the Panthers, it's not that difficult a division. The Panthers

(09:04):
are gonna beat the Saints a couple of times like these.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
I don't know. Spencer Rattlins, it looks like he's got
a little bit of juice, so is Bryce young Man.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Suddenly Bryce young and Spencer Rattler looks like a great
matchup on the weekend.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Hey man, I'll sell the hell out of it.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
I really more than it's those three teams are going
to be fighting for Garrett Nussmeyer. I can't even say
for arch Man anyway. They'll be fighting for Garrett Nusmeyer. Now, yeah,
but he didn't score.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Remember Brian Kelly had to fight with that reporter, what's
the problem we won the.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Game, Get out of here, jerk?

Speaker 4 (09:32):
And then he kind of had to backtrack it and apologize.
Must have been related to a booster or something. But
I mean the Dolphins coming game for this one Bills,
and again they can still pull away. I mean the
explosive offense. We've seen some big play potential Kincaid streaking
out of the back where the Bills. It's interesting is

(09:53):
watching to see beyond Kincaid, who you trust in your
passing game? Right, Khalil Shakir. Right, he had the deflected
ball in week one, But on a weekly basis, are
you're banking on him for big plays? No, it's it's
Josh Allen's creativity and that run game with the with
Cook with maybe a little bit of Davis creeping back

(10:15):
in as the game goes on. But for now, we
got ourselves a ballgame on a Thursday night. Let's celebrate that.
Twenty one to fourteen Bills with the lead. Dolphins have
the football near midfield about five and a half to
go in the third quarter, and so far Mike McDaniel
is saying to himself, Hey, we're playing well enough that
I'm not going to get fired after this week.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
So okay, but.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Totally got the vote of confidence. Yeah, but you know
what happens after you get a vote confis generally. But yeah,
I mean that was the report pregame. It's like they're
gonna be a little more patience, Like, wow, that means
it really got loud.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Do you have to put that in your pregame?

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Yeah yeah, game part on it on Amazon.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
It's like, all right, well, I guess we have to
address the elephant.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
They're gonna be fired, right, yuh game, Okay, don't look
for Greer to come down and take the headset and
his shoes and his capri pants from him at the
end of the gay It's not gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
You know.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
It's kind of bumm though, Like we're getting ready to
transition into the studio as the Odd Couple were finishing
their show, and it was right coming out out of halftime,
and that's when McDaniel had his quick little back and
forth with whoever was interviewing on the sideline, and he
said something where there was just this pause with the
reporter and I'm like, I'm trying to.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Go ten seconds back. It's like I want to and
it wouldn't go. I'm like, come on.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
He obviously said something that made it really confusing, made
no sense. So we'll effort that as we continue. It's like,
I gotta see what kind of gems he's given us
as they battle here or in the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Oh you want gems, I'm gonna give you gems right here,
Mike Carmon for a couple. You know me, I love diamonds,
so I am with people right now, people who love
hot ta I mean, I love a hot take with
people who just they're living on hot take.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
All I do is hot, All I do is hot.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
People are fighting to get to their keyboards and put
videos up, and they want their TV shows on the
air right now so they can be the first ones
to say, you see you look.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
At all the evidence.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
The Indiana Fever are better without Caitlyn Point than they
are with her.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
You see what happens.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
The Fever beat the Atlanta Dream tonight, a big playoff upset.
They win that first round series two games to one.
Eighty seven eighty five is the final. Just I can't
wait because you know it's gonna happen. Oh absolutely, And
I'll even tell you this. You're gonna get And this
is what's gonna be embarrassing, is you're gonna get former
WNBA players and analysts who are gonna say, yeah, see,

(12:32):
you look at the way this team plays without Caitlin
Clark and it's much much better. You see the way
things go in the back court.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
And look, we knew. I told you the beginning of
the season.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
By the end of the regular season, the Fever gonna
be looked at as the best team in the WNBA,
that's the team to beat. Now Caitlyn Clark got hurt,
they lost Sophie Cunningham. They've had to move things around.
But remember they made some moves to bring in some
players in the offseason because they were augmenting and getting
ready for a championship run. Because Caitlin Clark's a top
five player in the league. She's the biggest star of
the league. Yes, they found a way to win the

(13:02):
first round of the playoffs without her, and it's an
awesome accomplishment. But man, I'll tell you, I really, I
really can't wait. I'm wondering who the first ones are
gonna be to say, you can't argue you can't look
at what they did last year with her, look with that,
and they're gonna cherry pick an argument to just say, really, buddy, really.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
I'm gonna have Shae and tysher clipped this off. As
soon as we're done, we're gonna be first.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Eighty seven eighty five, A disjointed final possession ball squirts
all the way back out to the three point range.
Odyssey Simms, what a name that is? Yeah, she finds
Eleah Boston, who's suddenly wide open under the basket as
the defense forgets, Hey, you know what, if you let
her go short range, she's gonna put the ball in

(13:47):
and well, DJ clearly, if you're looking for a long
playoff run, definitely Odyssee Simms is the one to guide
you through that long journey. That's a fantastic name though,
right you're setting it up as Hey, you know what,
you got a long journey, Good luck to your kid,
go get it. But she has the assist to Boston
to put them up one. Eventually you get the fall,

(14:09):
she hits the final free throw. You win by two.
Five players in double digits. You had assists on three
quarters of their baskets, four assists per turnover.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Yeah, the ball moved. They're a better team without Katelyn Clark.
There it is.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Because that's how it works. Wait, let me pull out
in that bucket of sarcas. When you take great players away,
that's how it works. And the thing is because nobody
would say would say that for any other player, Like Okay,
so let's just say you go into next season and
the Lakers go on to run early. Right, say, Lebron
is out for some reason. He wants to make videos,

(14:46):
he wants to get traded, whatever it is. And Lebron
is out for some reason, and with Luca leading the way,
all of a sudden, Hey, the Lakers at the top
of the West. No one's gonna say, well, you know,
they're better off without Lebron. I mean, no one's gonna
say that. If the Milwaukee Bucks go on a run
in the beginning of next Okay, here's gotta be something
more realistic. If the Knicks go on a run in
the beginning of the season next year without Jalen Brunton,

(15:08):
because who knows. They're looking into how come you took
all this less money? And Pablo Tory has him on
a on a stand saying did you order the Code red?

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Did you order the Code red?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Yeah, But it seems like every time someone's got an argument,
he's got more paperwork that's sitting there.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Hey, here's another thirty million. You want to keep doing this.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
No one is gonna say the Knicks are better off
without Jalen Brunson. No one's gonna say the Bucks are
better off without you, honest, right. No one's gonna say, uh,
we're looking at the warriors are better off without Steph.
But no one is saying this stuff. But we'll say
it for Caitlin Clark just because because I like hot
takes and I still, for some reason I still don't
like her as a player. Why because she I don't know?

(15:43):
That's still really I guarantee you you're gonna get that
tonight tomorrow I want to plant my flag.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
And because it is a Thursday night, she got a
full slate of shows for a Friday morning.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Remember the old show, the Gong Show, Oh, explain the
Gong Show. So the Gong Show was a reality show
basically in the seventies where people It's like X Factor,
where people would show up and they would do all
these different individual talents like they had and and you know,
some might I could I could be a mime, or
I can sing like whatever it is. And then if
you did well and you made it to the end,

(16:15):
you won. But if you were terrible, they grabbed a
big gong and hit them and hit the hit the
gonk and you were.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Done and he feeling you.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
So there were sometimes where the person performing was so
bad that the judges would fight over the gong over
who got to God to do, right, Yeah, that's what
it's that they're fighting over the gong right now, of who's.

Speaker 5 (16:34):
Gonna be it.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
That's to say they're better off without Caitlin Clark. I
would have been that guy.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
You know.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
It's crazy though, as you mentioned the gong show and
a gong. I actually did on a gong last week
in an auction and it ended up going for twenty
two thousand pounds.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
It was part of a Doubt and Abbey auction, okay,
and it was estimated to go for maybe like a thousand,
so I tried to lowball it and then all of
a sudden, like wait, it went for what well, you know,
I mean that would have been fun in the corner
of the of the studio because we had our own
gong for some of these efforts we get to watch
on a nightly BASJ.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Then Mike Harmon could definitely bang a gong and get
it on during the show.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Damn right, Jay, you've got t Rex arms. So yeah,
let's go exit out Vutafresca, Exit Swollen Dome. Jason Smith

at UMGC dot edu. That's UMGC dot edu. So still
twenty one to fourteen bills with the lead late third quarter.
We'll have more in this game, but coming up next.

(17:42):
It is the end of an absolute era in Major
League Baseball for a superstar who says this year is
it for me? In the game, we break it down

Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Business fluctuations make running your manufacturing business complex,
but staffing your business doesn't have to be. Let Express
Employment Professionals provide the workforce you need. Go to expresspros
dot com to find the location near you that is

(18:58):
Thursday Night Football. This game is moving. Get those fours up.
Bills still lead it twenty one to fourteen. Somehow the Dolphins,
who have quit on the season are keeping it closer
with the Bills than the Jets did on Sunday. Again,
the Jets may be one of the three worst teams
in the NFL. They're fighting for Mike McDaniel. Yeah, yeah,

(19:18):
I think that was the pregame speech.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Hey guys, you know I'm gonna get blown out.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Just you know, if you ever liked me for five minutes,
remember when I took over, we were going to be
a fast team, and we were really.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Good for a while. Just give me a little bit here, man.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
We don't have to win tonight, but just don't lose
by a thousand so I could keep my job another week,
all right, As we.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Can do that thank you.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
What do we always say, doesn't have to be aesthetically pleasing,
just needs to be close late.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
So we'll have more on this game coming up in
a bit again, just getting ready to start the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Bills lead by a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
But it's time now for the play of the day
and that gets you into our big topic here where
we are waving goodbye to one of the all time
history of Major League Baseball greats. For over forty years,
tire Rack's been up and customers find the right tires
for how, what and where they drive, shipped fast and free,
backed by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options

(20:07):
like mobile tire installation. Tire rack dot Com is the
way tire buying should be and so and we could
have made it a James Cook touchdown. He could have
made it a Dalton and K touchdown. But since Clayton
Kershaw has announced he is calling it quits at the
end of this season, his eighteenth in Major League Baseball, well,
there is only one play of the day, one two
pitch strike three.

Speaker 8 (20:29):
Cards big cut of with a sire strikeout number three
thousand for Clayton Kershaw history at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Dodgers TV on the call that just a few weeks
ago I pitched.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
It's still the more you look at it, like, wow,
that really wasn't the strike, but hey, okay it was
the White Sox.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
What does it matter?

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Nny Caepra of the White know it was really odd.
The timing of this announcement will get deep into what
he had to say and the ramifications in his place.
Baseball history is like yesterday, we were going through a
lot of Dodger stuff. Right, we're watching that game unfold
the Blake Snells situation. Listen to the podcast. We had
the instant react that was just it was audio gold.

(21:14):
But I was actually when I got home and flipped
on a TV show and I was actually looking at
Kershaw memorabilia looking for the three thousand strikeout ticket stumps
because there's not many of them right. Mostly it's digital
now and different things like that. And then today we
get this, Hey, there's an announcement in brewing and like
the hell Man, that is just like weird foreshadowing of

(21:34):
things to come. Now, two things to get into here
for a second.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
The first one is that I'm just waiting because I
don't know that people realize, Okay, tomorrow is the last
Kershaw start at Dodger Stadium. Now likely he's gonna have
at least one more one more time through the rotation,
but it won't be at Dodger Stadium Willie pitching the playoffs.
Potentially after Game two of the first round of the playoffs,
everything is up in the you don't know what bullpen

(21:58):
is being you if you don't know where it's going.
Kershaw is having a good enough season, but is he
someone's gonna start game one? I think after last night
we saw Blake Snell as your.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Game once you got him, and.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Then who knows, right, because then you don't know what
kind of bullpen you're using. So potentially he's gonna pitch
in the playoffs, right, So you're not it's not the
end of Kershaw. But here's the last start for Kershaw
at Dodgers Statium. It's a really big deal.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Joe Davis talking bobbling, Yeah, yeah, I ask you this,
Uh what what day?

Speaker 1 (22:25):
I'm gonna ask you three questions, May Carmen, just like
last night, see if you get a hundred on the Okay,
what day is tomorrow? The day that Clayton Kershaw is
making his final start at Dodgers Dage.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Tomorrow is Friday. Very good. I'm also known as Hawaiian
should say so where Hawaiian Shore? Of course? Yeah you
want to? Okay? Number two?

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Where are baseball games broadcast on Friday night?

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Apple TV?

Speaker 5 (22:51):
Very good?

Speaker 4 (22:51):
Mike Harmon. Now, Third most important question? Can I have
my Can you have my password? Is that what you're
gonna ask me?

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Most important question?

Speaker 1 (23:02):
Is it easy for fans to see games on Apple
TV on Friday night?

Speaker 4 (23:08):
If you cough up a buck? Yeah, but it's pretty
simple if you're willing to spend a dollar. Here's the thing.
Is it worth the ten bucks or whatever it would be?

Speaker 3 (23:18):
For a month?

Speaker 4 (23:19):
Plus all the wonderful content including Severance and Ted Lasso
on so many other great things. The Morning Show which
premiered today. All right, I'm gonna okay, I did that.
That's a great preamble. But I answered, is it easy?
Does does everybody have access to seeing Clayton?

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Categorically? Three questions? You go to the head of the class.
That's one hundred, I would say.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Then tomorrow, across the city of Los Angeles, there are
a lot of people randomly showing up at their local
group hub.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Tomorrow you have the game. Tomorrow's game tomorrow is gonna be.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
I don't know what time it's gonna be, but sometime
nearly afternoon, there's gonna be that big wait what moment
from Dodger.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Foh no, what No. It's like when we have random
we're talking about game overseas right for the NFL, It's like, oh,
they're doing those damn things again, like I missed one,
you know that kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Wait you mean I can't wait?

Speaker 6 (24:11):
What?

Speaker 3 (24:11):
So how we do? What? Wait? What? What do you talk?
What do you mean? Apple?

Speaker 5 (24:15):
Wait?

Speaker 3 (24:15):
What? What?

Speaker 6 (24:16):
Like?

Speaker 3 (24:16):
That's what That's what it's gonna be.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
We've had that a lot on Fridays over the course
of this season, that reminder of oh wait has We've
had a couple of instances where it looked like we
were gonna have those milestone moments, whether it was Judge
or a tiny day, et cetera, where where folks got
a little angsty. But for this one, yeah, it's next
level stuff for a guy in eighteen years he debuted

(24:38):
a month before my second daughter was born.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
I mean, and this is and look, I want to
say that we're going to see him one more time
in the regular season, but maybe not because I said that,
But yeah, his turn in the rotation should wait more time.
But maybe they say, Okay, he's going to be part
of our rotation or the plan is to piggyback him
with someone else, which piggyback is gonna be.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
A big thing this playoffs. I'll tell you that right away.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Uh, starting pitchers, piggybacking's gonna be a big thing instead
of bullpen games. But I'll tell you this, like, maybe
it is his last start, So now it's not this
is not just this is baseball fans across the country
Kershaw making the last start. He's the best left handed
pitcher that I have ever seen, the best, better than
Randy Johnson. Bet he's the best left handed pitcher that

(25:19):
I have ever seen. And it's he's gonna make his
final start tomorrow night. People across the country are gonna
go all right, I guess I'll just I'll just follow
on social media. People will post the strikeouts of what's
happening with Clayton and ovations, and because you know, it's
gonna be full of all kinds of fun stuff Tomorrow night,
the broadcast the game itself, Dodger fans saying goodbye to
Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
I mean, it's it's gonna be that kind of night, man, No,
it's huge.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
I mean we watched the clips earlier, his presser and
the statement that he gave and then he answered a
couple of questions, almost lost it a couple of time.
Like I said, Man, we're talking eighteen years, you and I,
you know, loving the game of baseball that we do,
me being once upon a time a crafty junk baller,
lefty before the shoulder threw it and went into the

(26:03):
third deck. But all of watching a guy with one team,
a full career, the highs and lows, the injuries, the
battle back, like all of that, and what he means
to this city, all the more Key and his wife
have done. I like that he kept dropping in the
four and a half kids, referenced the pregnancy, but all

(26:24):
of it to say, like we watched, it's eighteen years man,
like that long time lifetime of dominance. And to your point,
the best that I've gotten to see fully was Johnson
more intimidating, sure, because for a while early in his career,
you have no idea where the ball was.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Not many lefties throw ninety eight right, that's the whole thing.
Left Like Kershaw never threw ninety eight one hundred like
he was. His fastball was in the mid nineties. But
you know, when you think about this, right, when you
think about Kershaw's legacy, we'll get to the playoff part
of it, because that's a really big part of Kershaw
is that when I look back and you say Clayton
Kershaw to me, the first vision that I get, or

(27:01):
the image of Kershaw that I get, is is how
amazingly good he was at his curve or his slider
on that first pitch to a batter, throwing it over
the plate in a spot where the hitter can't get
it right. You see the late break on that, and
it would break from the way from the side, and

(27:22):
it would hit the black every single time, and the
and the umpire was easy, boom, strike one. And you're
a batter and you are saying, what the hell am
I going to do when he's throwing that pitch for
a strike?

Speaker 6 (27:32):
Right?

Speaker 1 (27:32):
When he can he can have that such a late
break on his on a slider, his curve, whatever whatever
he wanted to throw that he can do that that's
just such an unbelievable advantage that he had, and then
nobody else could do stuff like even if he wanted
to throw it over the heart of the plate. Sometimes
just make you think that, hey, I could get it.
You're still not hitting that curve, right, You're still not
hitting it. Now you get later in the bat. Maybe

(27:54):
it doesn't break a shark. But throwing that first pitch
for a strike, I mean, I can't tell you how
many times I've seen him do that, and I just
go that that's just such a mental advantage. First of all,
it's advantage to go on one on the count, obviously,
but it's such a mental advantage for the pitcher over
the battle to know I have control of all of
my pitches and this is what's gonna happen. And I'm
not gonna throw you some lazy fastball on the corner

(28:15):
for strike one. If I think you're not swaying, I'm
gonna throw a fast player. I'm gonna give you a
curve and give you a slider. I'm gonna give you
something that is going to break over the plate, and
all of a sudden, you're at bad is going to
be defensive like That's the vision I have of him
when I think of it, just watching the just watching
the hump of the ball and the batter and the
batter just taking it and just shaking his head and going, Okay,
now it's on one and Kershaw's got me where he wants,

(28:36):
like that the way he was able to do that.
So it's so commanding that those two pitches so easily,
especially early in counts, Like you want to know why
he dominated, That's one of the big reasons why he dominated.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
Yeah, I've been here about twenty years in Los Angeles,
moved here in two thousand and six. Uh, and so
for me, he is Dodger Baseball.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Right.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
Obviously there's Vince I mean, nothing touches that. But otherwise
my entire run here has been watching his evolution, his
growth and everything changing around him. Second, that curveball that
you lay out first pitch, and obviously he struggled in
the first inning this year, but still to a ten
and two record at a three five ERA. You'll take

(29:20):
that any day. Someone was starting to do the calculations
of how many innings he can just be absolutely rocked
and watches Era finally get to that nice round number
so kind of kind of crazy. And the third thing
is he's throwback slash red ass, right yeah, sure, Hey,
if there was something on the field where he wasn't
getting his seven to ten start, I'd screw with him Tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Hey, Clayon, we're gonna do something special. Damn it.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
No him on the.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Mount of time. That's time. It's my last start. How
dare you? Oh man, I'll tell you. I mean really,
lou Seal comes running out there to create chaos.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
I mean it just seeing that is just it's it's
so demoralizing for a hitter when when that's the first
pitch comes like, okay, man, all right, I guess it's
gonna be one of those days, one of those that
bats for me. Here now suddenly I'm trying to just
I'm defensive and if I if I can hit the
ball the other way, and I can, I could poke
it through the infield.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
It's a huge victory for me.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
But it's one of those where you get sad because again,
there aren't many guys like this, right, and when we're
seeing the shades of it with Snell yesterday, you know,
waving Dave Roberts off and the Vesia thing, and all
of that was great, right, And certainly the folks that
have been stands for Blake Snell, they got their ammunition yesterday,
so good for them. But but all of it to say, like,

(30:33):
we don't have guys that battle like Kershawn anymore when
we're talking innings, when we're talking about these years, and
lesser men would have just said, all right, I've been
hurt a bunch, I'm done, I got my title, I
got my accomplishments, whatever. And to watch his emotions as
he goes out here at peace to a degree, but
you can see that there's still something burning and hoping

(30:54):
for that next month of.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Baseball exit about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon time that
to find out what's trending in the wide world of sports.
But guy, you can also throw that curve over the
plate for a strike. It's Martin Weiss.

Speaker 5 (31:10):
Yet no chance, okay chance?

Speaker 3 (31:13):
All right?

Speaker 5 (31:14):
I tell you I I.

Speaker 9 (31:16):
Played a celebrity softball game one time, celebrity in big
time quotations.

Speaker 5 (31:20):
Got to be the only guy to strike out four times?

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Okay, okay, le celebrity game.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
I was fourteen. They started booing me because I was
a swing and I was trying to draw.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
I was trying to get on base, but you know
they weren't having it. So twenty one twenty one.

Speaker 9 (31:36):
Right now, the Dolphins had just forced a Buffalo punt
and then in Dolphin fashion, ran into the punter, giving
Buffalo a first down.

Speaker 5 (31:45):
But this has been a back and forth game thus far.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
Josh Allen with two touchdown passes, James Cook with one
touchdown run, Dalton Kacate and excuse me, Dalton Kincate and
Jackson Hawes the recipients of those touchdowns for Buffalo, and
two a talking about Low with two touchdown passes himself,
won to Tyreek Hill, one to Jalen Waddle, and Ali

(32:09):
Gordon started the scoring in the first quarter again, just
under ten minutes left in the game. As James Cook
stumbles forward on second down, it.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
Will be third down for Buffalo.

Speaker 9 (32:19):
The Dodgers in action right now with scoreless with one
on in the top of the second inning. Dodgers also
announced today that three times SAW Young Award winner Clayton
Kershall will retire at the end of this year, his
final home start coming a Friday against the Giants, who
are in the obviously in that wildcard race. Seattle Mariners

(32:39):
one at Kansas City two to nothing ties Houston now
first place in the AOS. The Guardians won their seventh
consecutive game three to one victory at Detroit, swept the
Tigers in the series.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
They're now three and a half back from Detroit.

Speaker 9 (32:53):
And Yankees beat the Oriel seventh to nothing thet Alonzo
homer for a fourth straight game, as the Newark Metio
had a six one win over San Diego. Washington Commander's
quarterback Jaden Daniels didn't practice today for the second consecutive day.
He has a sprained knee land to list to Kyle
Pitts as limited in practice on Thursday, as with a
toe injury. Kansas City wide receiver Xavior Worthy was limited

(33:15):
in practice. He's working back from that week one dislocated shoulder.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
He suffers friendly fire. Travis Kelsey tackled him rookie wide receiver,
and Jalen Royal was full go.

Speaker 9 (33:25):
He expects to make his NFL debut on a Sunday.
The Indiana Fever advanced at the second round of the
WNBA Playoff two games to none over the Atlanta Dream
with an eighty seven to eighty five win to just
a few moments ago at the half, the Aces lead
the Seattle Storm thirty three to twenty six.

at the top of your screen, so you can lock
it in and rip to knub off twenty eight twenty
one Bills with the lead midway through the fourth quarter,
Dolphins are driving. I'm embarrassed for the Bills. The game
is this close as We'll have more on this coming
up in a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Division game short week.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
So embarrassed, right, embarrassed for everybody. If you hate the
tush push, congratulations haters. The NFL has instructed officials to
officiate the heck out of the tush push from here
on out. Upset that a penalty at least one penalty
was missed last week. The offside on the Eagles. We

(35:34):
saw it after the times they ran it against the Chiefs,
and now it's become one of those firestorms again.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Oh the toush push is ridiculous. We can't have it.
But do you get the help from the upstairs in
the booths all the time?

Speaker 1 (35:46):
The NFL has instructed officials to call the controversial play
tight going forward, So we're going to see a tight
call on this between the Eagles and the Rams. Look,
we talked about this yesterday in the last couple of
days when it's come up, the world is going towards
the banning of this play, right, that's just the way
the NFL is going enjoy it the rest of this

(36:07):
season because it's gonna get banned after this. When it
came out that the new angle of this following last
week was it's a really hard play to officiate. This
is what gets the NFL teams who are on the
side of the toush push to go, oh, well, if
they can really, if they can skirt the rules and
they can't have it officiated as well as it should be, well,

(36:28):
then guess what. No, I don't want it because I
don't want them to be able to take advantage of
the rules. If I can't take advantage of the rules,
they do it better than we do. Yeah, we could
do the play, but we don't do it as well
as them. Hey, okay, it's a competitive advantage, but they
know how to do something well. But the minute it
came out that it's a tough play to officiate, this
is gonna get banned and the NFL isn't gonna want
another off season of here's a potentially illegal play, taking

(36:51):
all the headlines that it does. So enjoy It's gonna
go this season. Eagles, use the hell out of it. Man,
use as many plays as you want, use it on
first and ten, Use as many plays you want to
going forward, because after this year, you're not gonna get
the votes to keep it. It will come up again,
it will be banned. He won't have any more touch
push in the NF.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
But go on a limb and say, McVeigh and company
also sent tape of every instance they could find over
the last couple of years where you could make the
judgment of the offensive line being off to the races.

Speaker 6 (37:23):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
And you start getting a preponderance of evidence, not just
the ISO shots from last week. You know they've already
run that play eight times through the first two weeks
of the season. You realize that Jalen Hurts has only
thrown the ball more than ten air yards three times
through the first two weeks of the season. I don't know,
so little random.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Stats you want them, I really want them to throw
the ball out of that formation. When you think they
could figure that out. We're gonna We're gonna show it formation.
Everybody's diving down when you bring tebow back, he just
does the jump pass. Certain times, it's you just see

(38:04):
the way that a belief goes on a topic, and
in sports seed on whether it's rules or or or
or games or teams and how they're they're moving towards
phasing players out, and you say, Okay, this is just
the way it's going, and you can't stop it. You
can't stop momentum when it's going that way. And there's
so much momentum against it now that I can't see

(38:26):
it making it one more. Even the biggest holdouts, because
we told you this was the biggest thing. If the
Eagles have a competitive advantage of officiating wise, that's going
to be it. That spells doom for this And I
don't eve think it's going to be particularly close next year.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
No, but that's the take, right.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
It flips from you're gonna like four teams voting for it,
and and you know, twenty eight voting against.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Right, it sucks. You're just good at it.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
And I know they used some of the species logic
of hey, look how fast Tyreek Hill is or whatever else.
You can't legislate against that. No, in this case, if
you can go for the all right eight thus far,
if you can tell me that I'm virtually all of
those plays, somebody's off to the races, and there should
have been a false start called plus the the Blandino
audio and the preponderance of evidence and a number of

(39:12):
ex officials that are coming in and going, yeah it
kind of that's where we're at. Then yeah, it becomes
an easy band. So utilize it as much as you can. Again,
eight times already in two weeks, it's been the most
highly effective place, certainly in ninety seven percent success rate.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
We know this. But now you're just.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
In a space where you're gonna get those last couple
of votes, so they're gonna flip pretty easily.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
It's just gonna happen. So enjoy it.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
And hater's congratulations, you hate the play. This is the
last season you have to see it. Exit out about
a Fresca exit Swollen Dome. Coming up next, the Dolphins
driving for the time score against the Bills and to
a complete a pass to the guys in the wrong Jersey.

Speaker 8 (39:56):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Bills take over with three minutes left, up by a
touch down. More on this and Kershawn next Fox Fox
Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Bills beat the Dolphins thirty one twenty one. Bills go
to three and Oho Dolphins go to zero to three.
Big questions for both of these teams. Have the Bills

(40:21):
reinvented themselves? Joining us now in the hotline nobody better?
NFL insider Jay Glazer on Twitter at Jay Glazer Fox,
NFL Sunday Mental Health Warrior, Jay, what's happening Man?

Speaker 3 (40:35):
Happy Thursday?

Speaker 6 (40:36):
You too? Man? What do you mean reinvented the Michelle?
They ain't reinvent hanything. He's getting better and better.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Well, no, what I feel like the Bills went from
the first half of Josh Allen's career it was Hey,
pitch and catch with him and Stefan Diggs and he
got a lot more design runs to hey, now they
have a running back they can give the football too,
and Josh Allen spreads the ball around more a little
bit different than the sexiness of the of the Bills
the first half of Allen's prime.

Speaker 6 (40:58):
No, I just think he's great. You know, you get
more mature as a player, and you make better decisions,
You realize you know how to kind of coach up
everybody else around you. You know, you look at some
of the guys earlier on in their career who struggled,
like the Troy Aikmans and Peyton Manning's like man, just
a lot of these guys. Over time, you get so
much better and Josh just constantly gets better and he's

(41:20):
everything you want in a leader and a player. And
you know, look, I've told you guys in the past,
like so many guys come in this league now and
they think being famous is the same as being great,
and it's not. And you got to work your butt off,
like you got to put in so many hours and
people are watching if you want to be great in
this league. And the ones who are great, the ones
that put all that work in constantly in every single area.

(41:42):
And look, we work in Tom Brady now and he's
the one that shows you the best. But I think
Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes and guys like that, and
you know, Lamar Jackson are taking This is what we
got to do. If you're gonna you know, if you
want to buy for a championship, you got to consistently
try and build yourself and others around you up every year.

(42:02):
And that puts a lot there's a lot more time
that goes in.

Speaker 4 (42:05):
Enough people realize, Jane, if there was any down on
the guy, I mean, he goes back into the locker
room with a broken nose and the black eyes and everything.
I mean, that's how you win people over. I'm back
in the huddle and now I got a visor.

Speaker 6 (42:17):
Yeah, I broke a those man, I've done the day times.
It's done whatever, right though, Like hey, playing hurt is
it's your honor to fight hurt. It is, and you
know it's it's mine. I wrote about this in my
book and breaking with like you know Rende Barber when
he retired, the dude had the record for most consecutives

(42:39):
gave played. It was one hundred and eighty five pounds
and he played through you know, a torn miniscus, torn
mcluh broken, some broken form, Tony his dolls give miss
a game for you know, fifteen years and he had
a tour in this, torn that, broken this, broken that,
and he's like, man, it's it's your honor to fight hurt.
And when you do that and you don't about Oh, man,

(43:01):
I don't want to be out there, not one hundred
percent because I'm not gonna look great on film and
say You're like, hey, I'm a fifty percent and me
is fifty It's better than my backup at one hundred.
So I'm gonna go out there and do what I
need to for my team. Yeah. That goes really far
in that locker room, all right.

Speaker 1 (43:18):
Now, Jay, the flip side of this, the Dolphins, they
fall to zero and three. They have a lot of issues,
but their schedule still lightens up a little bit. Uh,
do you see light at the end of the tunnel
for the Dolphins this year?

Speaker 6 (43:29):
I actually saw them coming together. Like here's the thing.
I know everybody's like, people want to go crazy about
oh and two and two and zero. And I can't
tell you how many coaches I talked to in the
first two weeks sport and I said to them, I
don't know something about this year more than every other year.
It just seems like in the last couple of years,
kind of seems like first eight to ten weeks. It's
almost like this when fight camp starts and you know,

(43:54):
because you can't really hit in tamp you can't do much.
You can't tackle with brown guys aren't full speed. Almost
like this one fight camp start and it was a
unanimous yes to everybody. I talked to the same thing here.
I think it takes a little while, and like, let
me last year the Rams Rams everybody hurt. They're kind
of man, they were. They were terrible early on, couldn't

(44:14):
get consistency. I just remember talking to Seumans Vanil all
the time, said, hey, dude, at one point, the cavalry
is going to come back, and you got to make
sure that everybody else's backing up right now. They want
to be on a train when the cavalry comes back,
and you can get a couple of gangsters out of that.
And I think that, you know, we go. I looked
into office. I'm like, man, they were disasters. Obviously, Week

(44:35):
one played better. Last week played better Tonight against maybe
the best team in the league in the worst conditions
to play in. I got an answer. I thought they improved.
I thought they made some mental mistakes. Obviously, a block
you know in the punter was terrible, she was. The
stint in the end wasn't great. But I think you know,

(44:55):
correct me if I'm wrong. I think most people thought
scored me forty to nothing. Yeah, and they came out
and they punched King Kong in the mouth to.

Speaker 4 (45:02):
Start getting Yeah, big dick off return and take that
opening possession.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
All right, let's go.

Speaker 4 (45:08):
You mentioned Sean McVay. He's the latest that it has
to try to defend the tush push. Are we on
the end of this becoming a dinosaur by the end
of the year based on the new rules?

Speaker 3 (45:18):
Uh? Kind of looking at it from I don't think you.

Speaker 6 (45:20):
Could change the rule during the seat. I don't see
how you change the rule during the season.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
No, sure. But here here's the thing too.

Speaker 6 (45:29):
People have had years to defend against it, and I
know that there are teams that said, you know what,
we've Actually there's one team who brought in one player
specifically I know, just to stop that. And if you
still can't do it, that's I do.

Speaker 2 (45:44):
Man.

Speaker 6 (45:44):
I don't know. I don't like everybody else could try
and do the same thing and their GM could try
and draft like Harry Roseman and they're they could try
and get players like this. You could, you know, try
and get a you know, like everybody had a chance
to get Saquon Barkley. This team. Did you know they
drafted jail to squats a million pounds? Like, I just
I think it's I don't know. I think it's I

(46:06):
think it's garbage. I think it's like, oh, man, hey,
uh you know this this team is man, they're just
throwing to too many herds. Let's uh, let's throw some
penalties in there. I'm not I'm I'm against getting rid
of the tush push because I just think it's like, damn,
you do something great. Stop It's it's like I can
never ever picture being in a fight and saying, man,

(46:27):
it's got takedowns are just too good, So let's take
him out. Take him out and n n a, it's
too good. That's boxing. They're like that's tickboxing, Like no, stop,
stop and take down.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
This is it.

Speaker 6 (46:37):
I just I don't know. I just think it's I'm
not in agreement with taking them out.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer, that is at Jay Glazer.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
Check him out this Sunday NFL on Fox Mental Health Warrior.
Jay is always buddy. Enjoy your visits, man, we'll talk
to you next week. Enjoy the weekend.

Speaker 6 (46:55):
By the way, I think it's more drama to see
if somebody can stop it or not.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
I'm with you, man, I'm out for drama. Let's go
to again, Jay. Thanks buddy.

Speaker 1 (47:05):
You don't get Jay Glazer on any other show on
Fox Sports Radio besides us, No, he only does our show,
which is awesome. And really, look, I feel the same
way about the tush push, but I see that this
is the way the world again, this is the way
the world is.

Speaker 5 (47:19):
Well.

Speaker 4 (47:19):
I wonder if it's it solves itself if they get
called through a couple of fall star penalties and now
it's fourth and sixth, fourth and seven all of a sudden,
no matter what happens, we're throwing that flaw. But legit, like,
keep challenging it. How many times are you gonna throw
this flag?

Speaker 1 (47:33):
Exit out out of Fresco exit swallowing don More football
coming up, as well as the big huge Goat retirement.

Speaker 3 (47:40):
That we got earlier today. Jason and Mike Fox
