(00:22):
the Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio,
something that has never happened before in the history of sports.
Here at Fox Sports Radio, I have already clinched the
Brackett Championship with all the experts thanks to Kentucky and

(00:43):
I was lost. Mike Carmen, I thank you for participating.
I think all thirteen of the twenty hosts that pick
Kentucky to go to the final four and many to
win it all, I thank you for participating. I will
take the television set, I will take whatever else comes
my way. Clinching on the first day. Really, I didn't

(01:03):
think it would happen this fast, but hey, you know what,
I'll take it, right. I mean a lot of drum
but it's okay. Yeah, I wanted to see how you
would top your Hey, I got my biggest upset pick right,
even though it wasn't an upset. Uh eleven over a six.
That's an upset. But they were favored in the game.
That's not not an It's not an upset. You don't

(01:26):
be upset. You're just mad because you had Iowa in
the final four in Iowa lost Iowa. That was like
four hours ago. Did you not watch the game that
just finished? I'll give an hal about Iowa at this point.
Are you kidding me? Kentucky going down to Shin Holloway,
a man we celebrated at Seaton Hall when he was
a point guard dominating No, that's the much bigger story.

(01:48):
Forget about Iowa. I don't care that. It's all part
of it. And t J clearly Kentucky learning that the
Peacocks and NBC stands for no basketball chat knowledges anymore.
As Kentucky is out of the tournament ty shirt, where's
my Mark Wahlberg clip? Because it's appropriate here you mean
cooped up in here? Okay, I'm a peacock. You gotta

(02:10):
let me fly. It's all about composure and being a peacock.
And trying to learn how to fly Kentucky couldn't buy
a foul shot in the overtime one of six. There
you go. Everybody wants to go right at Calipari. Okay,
maybe he didn't have him at the free throw line
enough under quasi pressure situations, because they faltered at the line,

(02:33):
and then that dude with the mustache just dominated them. Hey, hey,
dude with the mustache, we got you for postgame interview
problem mustache, But he got the job done. Uh, you know,
forget for a second, because tonight we have just an
embarrassment of riches with Fonte Adam story. He gets traded
to the Raiders. It now looks like it's between New

(02:54):
Orleans and Atlanta for Deshaun Watson Baker Mayfield wants a trade.
Forget about this whole the race in the a f
C West for to be good. Look look at no, no, no,
the race today between the NFL and the n c
A tournament for headlines. That was one of big mood
swings five minutes. Look at this. Oh no, Davante Adams
is traded. Now forget it. We're not gonna talk about

(03:15):
the n c A tournament. Oh but Kentucky loses. Now,
we're not gonna talk about the Vane Adams earlier the
day all Baker Mayfield's taken away from it. No, I
is upset, you can is upset. This was the big
race today. Who who had a bigger day? The NFL
or the n c A A. That that's the big battle.
That a f C West, a f C s mest whatever.
That's the big battle today headlines between the NFL and

(03:36):
the n c A tournament. It is back and forth
right now, Mike Arment, we are tied with two minutes
left to go. I do enjoy that quite a bit,
h because I would still say the NFL wins because
it extrapolates further Kentucky losing people go by bracketts sucked.
Hey what am I doing for spring breaking? Two weeks
or maybe spring break? Now? My mom was complaining about

(03:57):
everybody showing up in Florida and how she can't go
to the grocery store without standing in line for forty
minutes behind a bunch of people just buying beer. So
you know that kind of thing. It's but it's great theater.
I mean, all day long, you're wondering, all right, where's
the chaos gonna come? And then Iowa falls? And what
was funny is and I said it last night, I
said it last week, Jason. It's like I liked them.
They had a score in Murray that you know, whenever

(04:20):
we try to figure out the formulaic thing of how
do we get through? What do you need? What? What?
What are the components of teams that usually run far?
And then all of a sudden, more and more people
jumped on that bandwagon. What did I say? Even as
I said my pick last night, I thought it was overweighted.
And I debated diving off because too many people suddenly
jumped on board, but because it was already into our

(04:42):
system and I didn't want the graphics folks to we'll
have to do any extra work on my account, I
just left it as it was like, all right, I'll
live and die with him and Low and Mahome, McCaffrey
and company. I couldn't get it done. But then you know,
the Baker Mayfield was a foregone conclusion. We'll talk about him,
but you know that check the box of things you
and I have been saying. But the Davante Hadham story,

(05:04):
I did uh Ray leot to like jim A banging
on the counter in my kitchen while I was making
dinner for the girls, and my daughter Madeline comes running down,
going what the hell happened? I go, well, we have
more chaos. She goes the basketball stuff again. I go, no, Actually,
the NFL. The Jason Smith showing Mike Carbon live from

(05:26):
the Fox Sports A Radio Studio Studio Studio Studio Studios.

next time you are having battery trouble, head to autos
on your battery solution in America's number one battery destination. Well,
we'll get to Davantae Adams in a you minutes. Right,
there's a lot to unpack with the NFL, like thirty
seven spider ing stories to flow out of that one.
But yes, you are either feeling incredibly happy right now

(06:10):
because of your brackets, or you're incredibly devastated because of
the way these two games shook out. So for everybody
to be happy or for everybody to get really pissed.
Here are the final calls. Three by Brooks on the
way he missed it. One second rebound comes to drama,
and that's it. David has stuck Goliah, the fifteen seed

(06:31):
at St. Peter's Peacocks. The tiny school of only hundred
students has knocked off mighty Kentucky eighty five seventy nine,
and over time Connor McCaffrey set to inbounded. They get
it toward the rim, Murray tapped it toward the rim.
The shots no good, and Richmond has done it again.

(06:51):
The Richmond Spider, he says, a twelve seed, have knocked
off the number five seed in the Midwest as they
beat Iowa sixties seven or sixty three. Richmond has still
never lost to a five seed of the n c
a A tournament thirty years. But I'm okay with Richmond
pulling a stunning upset in the end. It's taking me

(07:12):
a long time to get over that in Mike Arment.
But Westwood one on the call right there for both
those games. And look the thing about this, so you know,
we'll just watch John Calipari do an interview here on
on on CBS, and this is this is the big
takeaway right now for Kentucky. I know, he signed that
big contract a couple of years ago, right signed that

(07:33):
ten year, eighty six million dollar contract and basically would
allow him to finish his coaching career Kentucky. But after
after this result, because this was a really good Kentucky team,
like this is probably his best team he's had in
a little bit. Uh, they have had a star crossed
n c A tournament. You know, they won the national

(07:53):
title ten years ago. Then they lost in the finals,
lost in the semis, and you're thinking, Okay, they're just
gonna be there every year because that's what Allaperi's doing. Now,
then they're making the tournament, but they're losing in the
they're losing in the sweet sixth teen, they're losing in
the Elite eight. And now you go out and losing
the first round as a two seed. Win honestly, with
the wide openness of the of the of the tournament

(08:14):
this year and how talented Kentucky was. This was their
year to get to another final four. This is their
year to win, to win the national title. As I said,
thirteen of the twenty experts, all of us here at Fox,
I mean not me because I'm smart, but like thirteen
of the twenty experts here Fox, Hey, Kentucky is gonna
win the n c A tournament. And they got Kentucky
in the final four. If Kentucky is didn't do it

(08:35):
this year, this is one of those times where Calipari
has to sit back and go, Okay, have I maxed
out here? I mean I have. It's been a long
time since we've been to a final four now, and
and I get great players coming in every year. They
stay one year, succeed and proceed. I know he's got
a lot of money. I know he's owed this, but
this is one of those times the basketball coach, you go, okay,

(08:57):
is it really gonna get better? I mean what I mean,
I'm having year years of twenty five and six and
twenty five and seven, and twenty seven and nine and
thirty two and six. I'm having these years every year
every year that's what he's doing in Kentucky, and every
year it's not quite getting to be as good as
it should have been, and he falls short in the
n c A tournament. Yeah, you can always uh differ

(09:17):
with the coaches strategy, and look, you can't get the
ball to to to one of your bigs when there's
where a few seconds left on the clock to get
into a free throw. Ly, what an awful play call
they had at the end of regulation. That was absolutely terrible.
But in the end, look, you're gonna get some bad calls.
It's gonna happen. But just overall, this is when I
snap back and go has he maxed out here? And
granted that there's still good time for Kentucky because every

(09:38):
year they are a top seed in the tournament and
the like. They have great regulations. They had a bad
regular season last year, but they rebounded in a huge
way this year. But if I'm John Calipari and I go, man,
do I want to still try to win national titles here?
I don't know if I can should is it? Do
I finally go to the NBA? If I want to do?
I want to go someplace else. This is one of
those times, because that's what I look at and I go,

(09:59):
is Kentucky really a team now after losing this that
I think, hey, he'll get it right and he's back
and winning n c A titles coming up. He had
that run and he's still got talented players coming in.
But just seeing this well run dry for the past
years and now going out in the first round as
a two seed, I wonder if he hasn't maxed out,
and that that's the big question for men. Can he
sit back and say, boy, I know I got all

(10:20):
this money right here, but maybe it's time for something else,
because because this this may be as good as it's
ever gonna get at Kentucky. Yeah, it's obviously, Ah, you're
you're at the edge of the water. They're trying to
decide whether you're walking in or not coming off of
this man, because it's it's a you know, go for
a swim, clear your head. Uh twenty five or more

(10:42):
wins eleven of his thirteen seasons there, he's got a
seven eighty five career winning percentage. But that's a decade ago,
and I guess I pull it back to say this,
Jason went all that talent, all the guys that are
in the NBA. I had noticed in my uh hey
memories for today was we had a post win called

(11:02):
from Malik Monk after a tournament game just a couple
of years ago on this very program. But it's the
the idea that winning the title has proven very difficult
for even the greatest legends in this sport, right, And
so I think that's what I pull back and wonder,
all right, what are you gonna do that's better both

(11:24):
him pursuing some other challenge or Kentucky saying all right, well,
we need to change directions that that's the larger thing here, right,
because it's always gonna be a revolving door of guys
coming in and being one and done, or maybe they
come back for a second year. But otherwise, where's it

(11:45):
going to be better? Because he's not walking away? Man,
They can still coach, right, and he obviously can still recruit,
but in these games coming up short time and again,
I mean, that's a decade ago, and that's the hard
part to reconcile. But it's a cash out and it's
a behemoth, and I know some friends of mine that
are distraught. I've already seen it in my timeline. It's like,

(12:06):
all right, it's it's okay, you know what baseball starting.
And then they say I hate baseball. It's like, well
that that's your loss, and that's your loss. It's a
long offseason then. But it's just hard man because he
wins so consistently recruits so well, what are you gonna
do that's gonna match that. It's like Tom Brady when

(12:26):
he when he stepped away for his forty day sojourn,
right his forty days of lent, he gave up football
and then he came back for John Calabari. He can
he can't be off the recruiting trail. He can't and
go back to the other game for a minute, just
because it's a fun little stat and we should hear
Boris the Spider all night long because it's really one
of my favorite who songs is that Richmond now has

(12:48):
eight wins as a twelve seed or lower. How about that?
That's ridiculously good on the back end. And they will come,
come and fight you. I'll never pick against him again
in the first round. Know you want to have a
racnophobia in the n c A tournament with the Spiders phobia,

(13:08):
Twitter and out about a Fresco Mike get swallowed up
just picturing the scene. Jeff Daniels and the Spiders. If

That's indeed dot com slash credit. So we are just

(13:29):
getting started here. We still have late games going on
in the n c A tournament in kind of a
down spot right now. We're waiting for the late games
to really just San Diego State just falls in overtime.
So so four of our friends are saddened. Poor Akbar
is really upset. I got our guys, Burger and Hartman
down in San Diego. That's difficult. They were banking on
a long run. Oh I know, I know, it doesn't matter.

(13:51):
I've clinched. I've clinched the bracket challenge. Now Kentucky lost,
Iowa lost. I think that I've won. What doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter what happens you day one. That's the
crazy thing. This is only day one man does it.
That's that crazy. Even if Duke loses tomorrow, I've still clinched.
It makes no difference because I've done so well today.

(14:12):
I've clinched. If you're Mike Tachevski right now, aren't you
sitting back like Montgomery Burns. Look at the world that's
falling around me. Look at what's happening for me, the
basketball gods. I don't want to put it out there
because I have Duke is my national champion. Oh he's
gotta win one, and he's still better than Calabari for
the year, so hey, come on. Be sure to catch

the Jason Smith has already clinched first place in the

(14:55):
Fox Sports Radio Bracket Challenge Studios. I made it right now.
I don't think I think I've lost one game today.
The only game I lost today was the five twelve
ups that I didn't have. It didn't have you, I
didn't have you. Know I've lost two games today. I
didn't have a New Mexico State beating Yukon, and I
didn't have Iowa losing today. But everything else, everything I've

(15:16):
I mean, I've clenched. Everybody had Kentucky and Iowa, no
Kentucky to Iowa. Now they're both gone, and now I've
basically one. I wanna put that TV. But listen to you. Oh,
it's gonna be great, doesn't It doesn't matter. It doesn't
like I will tell people who just watched the tournament
for the first time, I'd say, it doesn't matter what
you know and what you don't know. There are two columns.

(15:37):
There is a wind column and there is a lost column.
And as long as you have the right ones in
the wind column and the run not have the wrong
ones in the lost column, guess what you can do.
Pretty But the smugness is unbecoming, well because it may
because Duke may lose, and really, I mean I may
only have to Duke could lose to nor Night in
a horrendous than we're watching Mike Showski cry and also

(16:00):
tell the Duke fans he's gonna grab the mic after
the game and go This was awful. I can't believe
we did this. This was my would be glorious. What
the hell is wrong with I'm just picturing Sewsky with
the mic yelling everybody go back to your seat, as
they're just storming the cord around him. Go back to
your seats. Go back to your seats, all of you,
go back. This is me my last game. We were terrible.

(16:22):
I promise you we're gonna do better. Hey, hey, hey,
give me give me back my jacket. I'm just picturing
that whole thing happening right now. So it's gotta be tonight.
It's gotta be tonight because some who knows, who knows
we may not get tomorrow. We'll do it tonight. We
might not get tomorrow. I didn't know which song you
were going. Who needs We've got tonight? Who needs to?

(16:43):
I mean, it is your anniversary, So happy anniversary. I
mean you could say and sing that one as as
part of the the wooing on anniversary twenty seven. Congratulations
and and yes, it has been a chaotic and tourly
to steal from Phoebe Buffet of Friends first day to
the n C Double A tournament. A lot of heads
on swivels and and certainly for us, I mean we

(17:03):
got a lot of friends. Look my bracket u C
l A goes down, I don't think I'm watching any
more tournament games because that would take two of my
final fours out. Again, what you watch, what you think?
Blah blah blah. If it goes down in flames, we'll
just keep posting the floating dumpster fire as often as

(17:23):
we can. Uh ragged first half would be the kind
way to describe it. But but yeah, it's the day
where everybody celebrates, not just because it's the n C
Double A Tournament, but they also really weren't working hard
because well St. Patrick's Day. I had many shots from
friends of mine in in office buildings where the conference

(17:44):
rooms were all for all the TVs were and monitors
were turned to n C Double A Tournament game. You
mean pictures and shots And you said you've had many shots?
You mean pictures? Oh, I didn't have any, but they
were telling me of all the shots being drunk there
because like here's what's normally you know, coffee, creamer or whatever. No,
there's bottle of jamison, uh and buckets of guinness. So
I mean, folks, we're getting after it early. Shout out

So I love more on the n c A Tournament
tonight as it continues to unfold for us and many
u c l A fans right now very nervous um.
But the big ticket item today Davante Adams traded from

(18:51):
the Packers to the Raiders. The Packers will get a
first in the second round pick. The Raiders giving up
a decent amount for a guy they had to sign
to a big contract engine and now Davantae Adams getting
twenty eight million dollars a year for the next five years.
You know, we talked about the Atmos part of it.
Last hour on the show. And now we got to
get to the Aaron Rodgers Packers part of it, because

(19:12):
on the surface, it doesn't make sense, right, Why would
you spend all this money to bring Aaron Rodgers back
only to trade away your next best offensive player not
named Aaron Rodgers. Why would you do that? They had
such great chemistry, Davante Adams is great. Why it seems oh,
it seems ridiculous. But let me just say this because honestly,

(19:32):
and this is where I zig when you think I'm
gonna zag, or do I zag when you think I'm
gonna zig? Whatever you whichever way we go, I mean,
you're just going indy direction. One dog goes this way,
the other dog goes that way, and uh, this dog
is going, Hey, what do you want from me? I
completely get why the Packers made this move. Clearly it
was coming for a while. Aaron Rodgers knew what was coming.

(19:53):
We got that report as well. Aaron Rodgers has to
be piste. Now, Aaron Rodgers kind of knew. They're They're
not gonna suddenly, uh take everybody by surprise. Go, hey,
we're trading Davante Adams. Yeah, Aaron, we're gonna lie to
you and not bringing back it doesn't make sense, right,
But I honestly I get this because what you need
to do if you're the Packers, you take an honest
look at your team. You say a right, what what

(20:14):
what do we got? Well, we're good enough to win
this division. The NFC is not great, but clearly offensively
we don't have enough because I just watched our team
with home field advantage again the second year in a row,
fail offensively when it mattered the most. Right, you failed
against the Buccaneers two years ago. You failed miserably against

(20:36):
the forty niners where you couldn't put any points on
the board. So you need a change because bringing back
the same offense wasn't gonna work. And now it's unfortunate
that how do you try to make this change? Well,
the best way they could defect change was we trade
Davante Adams and we try to reload at a position
that is normally incredibly rich in the draft. And that's

(20:58):
what the Packers have to do. Instead of having the
one great receiver and a bunch of other guys who
don't catch the ball. Out of that don't catch the
ball at all, you need to spread things out a
little bit. You need more options, So the Packers, I mean,
it was it was a tough that you have to
bite the bullet and say, you know, we gotta do this.
Here what this will do. This gives us a little
bit more money freed up if we want to make
a move in free agency, if you want to make

(21:19):
a trade for a wide receiver, we can. But what
we also can do is really address the position in
the draft where there's every year now the wide receivers
coming out of college football are terrific. You have to
really you have to really suck as an evaluator to
miss on on early round wide receivers in the NFL
now because there's seven or eight that come out every
year that you go, boy, these guys are really really

(21:41):
good guys you can get in the first sixty four
picks that you can do that they're pretty good. You
have to you have to be really bad to miss
on wide receivers, and wide receiver is a very replaceable
position in the NFL. Yes, there are great players, but
what's gonna be better for the Packers to try to
try out the same offense that we know is not
good enough and every it he's a year older, or hey,
instead of this, we trade Adams and then we bring

(22:05):
in some guys that are gonna be good. Some Look,
you're into Aaron Rodgers now for the next three or
four years, so it's not a one year thing and
we have to rebuild or were or we're done this.
We have to reload, or we're done. You have a
few years now, and you think we can hit the
ground running pretty easy at wide receiver because guys are
coming out of the college football now and catching a
hundred passes right Jalen Waddles coming out and being a star.

(22:25):
Davante Smith is coming out and being a star. Elijah
Moore is a second round pick. He's a great player.
There's many wide receivers who come into the league right
now and are terrific right away. So if you're the
Packers and you can add three guys, make it one
in in in free agency, whether you think it's gonna
be Odell Beckham or somebody else. You make a trade.
If you add one guy in free agency who's good,

(22:46):
and then you get two more in the draft, suddenly
your offense is much more dangerous because if you're not
just relying on Adams and a bunch of guys that
everybody can cover and you can shut down. The Packers
had to do something. It probably wasn't their first choice
to do this, but it makes sense that, Okay, we
trade away our big player, we get a lot of
draft capital. We're gonna go after wide receivers to make

(23:07):
that room deeper and better, and that's how we're going
to improve. That's how we're going to get better and
make sure the offense can take the next step. So
I completely get, I understand and I support what the
Packers had to do with this trade. Again, didn't want
to do it, but they kind of had to when
they were because you only move so many guys and
be hamstrung so many ways. They kind of had to
do it. Well, the fun part of is if you
pull back and now it's the alright veracity of the reports, right,

(23:31):
that's what we need. We need to you know, have
the cage match of all of the the insiders here, right.
Because Rob Domowski, who has covered the team for years
per a Sourus. Packers were willing to pay Adams equally
to what the Raiders are with the new deal, but
Adams decided he wanted to play elsewhere, And yes, Rogers
was aware of the developments in the last several days.

(23:53):
But I think that's an interesting piece to it of yeah,
I've done here right what all the expectation was. At
least the reporting was that Aaron Rodgers wasn't coming back
unless Adams was going to be back, And then we
had the reports of what he was offered. We watched
Christian Kirk get his contract, then we started hearing twenty
three million. No, it seems like they were willing to

(24:14):
go to the eight, but Adams still preferring to leave.
And I think there's probably about a five percent difference
between state income tax that we have to do it
between Wisconsin and Nevada, which doesn't have one. So you know,
you get a little bit of bonus there, and you
can start making payments on that twelve million dollar house
a little bit more aggressively if you want to, or
maybe buy another one. But now the question becomes who

(24:35):
steps up, who's still there in free agency. I'd be
making a pitch to to Jarvis Landry would be the
guy of remaining free agents after Alan Robinson uh signs
with the Rams. Perhaps a little bit under the radar,
but Aaron Rodgers is most certainly going to get those
first round draft picks that everybody always complained about that
he didn't get. Right. We're most certainly going to see

(24:56):
at least one of those, uh this year, whether it's
a lava or or whomever falls or whatever they have
to package up to go get the guy they want.
But certainly you'll see a couple of draft picks there.
But last year, Adams a hundred sixty nine targets. Targets
we talked about myopia, you know many UH breaking down
game tape, A look he missed lizard here. Lizard was

(25:17):
third on the team. Jason fifty five targets, so one
sixty nine, sixty five for Aaron Jones and then fifty
five for Allen Lazard, UH number three, so leaving a
lot of opportunity for other players to step in. You
had a Maori Rodgers out of Clemson who didn't participate
much injuries, UH and just getting on the field. He

(25:38):
didn't have many targets. COVID protocols at one point as well. UH,
MBS is a free agent possibility. I guess that that
he comes back, but it's it's gonna be interesting to
see how they fill out that roster, and it's on Rogers,
and I know the numbers are there to support Hey,
when Adams didn't play, Rogers put up great numbers. It

(26:01):
ain't about the regular season, man. It's like we always
talk about with NBA players, and we were doing all
our due diligence over the final stretch. Ron and who's available,
who's not seeding, who's in the play in, who's falling out?
The NFL is the same thing. I'm worried about the
Packers getting to the playoffs. It's what do you do
once you're there? And I know it would have been
a different game if A. J. Dillon hadn't gotten hurt

(26:23):
while he did and now he comes back, so you've
got a two headed monster. But you've got to figure
out that receiving corps. So great theater to come and
not a lot of heavy names that are out there.
Both former Brown's all right one via the uh the
Rams at this point, but Landry and and O'Dell coming
off his injury, are probably the two leaders in the

(26:44):
clubhouse of what's remaining. Yeah, and you just need one
of them because you're you're gonna get one or two
guys in the draft. Like I said, this is how
polished the guys come in now, right you look. You
look at just last year's first second round of the draft.
Jamar Chase came in and oh my goodness, he was phenomenal.
Right away, I mentioned Waddle, you know, I I talked
about even Candarius Tony when he was healthy, had a

(27:06):
was was playing really well, very short thing, and Waddle
he might as well have had Ben Roethlisberger throwing him
because a five yard pass. Those guys that at least
worked together before, which is why he got picked over. Yeah,
but you know he's still flashed in the in the
tiny time he was on the field. And you know
I mentioned Elijah Moore. I mean every year now you

(27:26):
go draft to draft, guys come in and they're ready
to play. So it's as good as Davante Adams is.
If you hit it right in the draft, you kind
of had, like I said, you had to try something. Uh,
it's not that big of a gamble, you know it's not.
It's now you got to You got a couple of
first round picks, and you have early second round picks.
I mean you could draft two or three wide receivers.

(27:46):
Aaron Rodgers may be sitting in the actual draft room
while they draft with a list of guys, going Okay,
here's the guys I want right here. I want him,
I want him, I want him, I want Drake London.
You know, this is this is what I want us
to do. I mean, but that's how you do it.
And this could wind up being a step back today
and losing Davante Adams for a step forward making sure

(28:08):
that Okay, now I'll make the wide receiver room as
good as it could be. Yeah, I just dug the
idea of a guy was being offered the same amount
of money to stay familiarity system guy has been his
quarterbacks as he'd entered the league. All of these things. Uh.
In contrast to say, you know the Tom Brady less money, right,
he's only gonna make like eleven million dollars or whatever

(28:28):
this year, and you've got guys that come out of
retirement or say yes, I'll do anything I can to
get over there. Meanwhile, with Vante, you know what, Vegas
sounds pretty good this year. Let's let's make that happen.

(29:14):
or wherever you get your podcast, Fox Sports Radio, the
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike RM and
again got a list of the whole show. Uh, the
action is over. In overtime, Murray State takes care of
Bill Russell and San Francisco so close. Meanwhile, Candas just

(29:35):
continues to obliterate with a big victory over Texas Southern.
So everything is in the books. Will have more on
the tournament coming up in a few minutes, but uh, look, clearly,
the big news today in the NFL was huge deal
and we talked about this a lot. Uh, Davontae Adams
is traded to the Raiders. According to late reports, the

(29:57):
Packers offered even more money than the Raiders did. But
it was Adam's lifetime dream to be a Raider. Is
that spin to make him look like a bad guy. Yeah,
it's my lifetime dream to be a Raider. Okay, alright,
forget about the dream part of this. Funny but just

(30:18):
from the money side, do you buy it? Uh? No?
They how can they give? Really had enough to give
Aaron Rodgers fifty million a year and now they have
enough to give Davanta Adams that kind of money. Yeah,
we got half our salary cap tied up in two guys. Yeah.
I don't know about that. I don't know about that.
But here's the thing part of this reaction. Look, there's
a great Aaron Rodgers angle this to get to. There's

(30:40):
a great Packers angle is to get to. But here's
a hot take for you, and it's really not that hot.
The Raiders are still the fourth best team in the
a f C West. They're still the worst team in
the division. Now worst is relative because they've improved. They
were a good team last year. They got better. But
this a f C West, I mean, you look at
what it is. Man. They're gonna have to put their
those games on their own pace scale. Hey, listen, you

(31:02):
want the NFL rights, that's great. You want a f
C West rights that's gonna be even more money than
it normally is. Um, they're still the fourth best team,
all right, because the Chargers, who are the best team,
and the Broncos both did what they had to do
this offseason, and that's what's our big achilles heel, and
they turned that into a huge strength. The Chargers turned

(31:24):
their defense into hey, they cost some games to Now,
good luck trying to stop the Charges, right with Khalil
Mack now lineup behind Joey Bose and now j C.
Jackson's a shut down corner. Good luck. Right, The Broncos
had a terrific defense with the best defense of the
National Footballing. Their offensive is awful, had no quarterback. They
go get Russell Wilson. Both those big negatives have become

(31:44):
big pluses. The Chiefs are still the Chiefs, right, There're
still terrific. It's still Mahomes, it's Kelsey, it's Hill. You know,
they're can you to improve the offensive line. And the
Raiders still have the fourth best quarterback in the division. Right.
As good as Derek Carry is, he's better than I
thought he would be. He's kind of the periphery top tennis,
top twelve kind of quarterback, which is fine, that's good,

(32:05):
and generally that's good enough to win, but not in
this division. So you look at the other two teams
that I just talked about that that turned their negatives
into positives, and the fact that all the quarterbacks are
better than Derek Carr. I'm not taking Derek Carr to
shoot out against any of these teams. The Raiders had
to go get Davontae Adams. I get it, because you
gotta keep up or you're gonna get left behind. So
I get why they did it, and I understand it.

(32:26):
It's a great move to get him, but in the end,
you're gonna be still be the worst team in the
division because you got the fourth best quarterback and you
still aren't as good as the other teams ahead of you.
So yeah, it was it was a move they had
to do. But I'm not buying the Raiders. I still
think they're the worst team in the division. See, I
don't know that he's fourth. Actually I don't think he's fourth.
I think your boy Russell Wilson is fourth. Look at you,

(32:48):
that's a hot take from you. You're a Russell You
just hate you hate Mr. Mr. You hate you, you
hate you hate, you hate Mr Mr, Mr un Li Mr.
You just Mr hate Mr Mr Mr. You hate Mr. Lib.
I don't hate him. I just think maybe we're overvaluing

(33:11):
what he is and what the offense is on the
Denver side of things. Look, that defense is great, there's
no question about it. But you saw what the Las
Vegas Raiders have already done defensively. Now we're Jordan's Schultz
reporting just a couple of minutes ago that there's an
offer in to add Stefan Gilmore perhaps to that. Oh,

(33:31):
I want to call him Oakland again, Las Vegas Secondary.
So add that you already brought in Chandler Jones, you
paid Max Crosby. I'm just saying, bring in Davante Adams,
pair him up with with Waller and Renfrow. I could
fight that they might be to a in that with
the Chargers on top, and then we can quibble about

(33:52):
the Chiefs and the Raiders ahead of the Just tell
me you hate Russell Wilson, tell me you don't like
I don't hate him. I don't hate him. I just
I've watched a lot of films. See this is why
you know I should dart throw like guys that didn't
watch any Seattle Seahawks games. I remember what Russell Wilson

(34:12):
was when he had the Legion of Boom and everything
else he's had DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. I don't care.
You know when fourth one when he had a great defense.
He's got a great defense again. I don't think he
has the offensive guys though, he but he mr Mr
Mr Mr Williams. I'm not sold on those wide receivers.

(34:38):
The third guy is the guy like most Tim Patrick.
He's been the guy that's hung on our fantasy team
now for the last two and a half year. Every
week it's do I do we play Tim Patrick? Do
he thought him? He want and reliable? Hey, he's in
much better shape now. I'll give you that. How many wins?
That translates to yeah, I don't know. You just don't

(35:00):
like Mr Unlimited. You got to be unlimited. You don't
like him. You don't like him. You think he's Mr Mr,
Mr Mr Unlimited. He's Mr Limited.
