Best of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon on

Speaker 3 (00:29):
The snap, clean, the placement down kick, It's fucked.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Let's listen midfield, it's still done. Will McDonald Derry.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Goes to the twenty.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Tay Raids go five.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
That's a check touchdown. That's a check touchdown. Awful to
flock field goal. We're tight with one nine to go.
Unbelievable player the day Bob.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Was shoosing Jets Radio. Now we're going the goal. The
play in the Day, of course, is brought to you
by tire Rack. For over forty years, tire rack'sm been

(01:17):
Think about how great that play would have been if
the lead held up. You know, here's the thing, here's
the thing, and why why are we playing September? First
of all, it was on the twenty first of September.
You'll never forget it. No, And there was a great
meme put out today of the ISO shot of Aaron Glenn,
Jets head coach, dancing on the sidelines during this play,
(01:38):
synced up to September by Earth Wind and Fire. Hey
you got my Earth Winding Fire tickets, which was so awesome, right,
and it really it makes it really makes you laugh,
like because it really they hit the part of him
doing the stepping. Oh no, he's perfectly timed, insane, you know.
And here's the thing, And this is me being you know,
this is me seeing a Jets game in my life,
(02:00):
and this is where Aaron Glenn I'm like, Okay, as
much as I like him, the dude is still learning
to become an NFL head coach. Is this is a
huge play? Okay? The Jets were getting boat raced and
Will McDonald blocks blocks the field goal. I'd run it
back for a touchdown, and it's so unbelievably exciting. But
I'm like, Okay, I get Bob was Shues's excitement. I get,
I get in the studio you're yelling. I get me
(02:21):
yelling and screaming. There's over a minute and a half
left in the game. Okay, you're only gonna be up
by a point. You got it. There's another minute and
a half left to go, and and the Bucks made
it look so bleeping easy. Right now, Look, did you
talk about just watched that Monday tape. We've talked about
this with Baker Mayfield. Right, I told you right that
that that Baker Mayfield has become a top seven quarterback
(02:43):
in the NFL. And I get, I get Brady vibes
breat end of game Brady vibes from him now where
he's going to take the Bucks down to score it.
You can't give him too much time because he's in
that he's in that company where whenever Brady had the football,
no matter what kind of time left, it's it's it's
it's not, it's not it's too much. He's gonna get
(03:05):
down there in thirty eight seconds. Mahomes Baker Mayfield is
in that conversation because I've seen him now do it
the last couple of years so many times. He is
so good in those situation. Again, i get Brady vibes
from Mayfield and I'm watching. This is great, but I'm going,
Aaron Glint, dude, there's a there's a minute forty left, man,
and your defense has been getting work the entire game. Yes,
(03:26):
you've kept him out of the end zone a couple
of times. You you forced him to kick four fieldals,
but they're getting down the field. What do they need
by Carmen to win the game? Field go right? Hey,
okay for safety. And I'm like this and I'm watching
and that's me. That's me being Jada Jet fan again,
having seen a Jet game over the course of my life, going,
they're still a minute forty five left, and this sideline
(03:46):
is like the game is over.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Now.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I get it. I get that they're excited, but man,
you know, look, I just watched Robert Sala live that
for for two and a half years. A Hey, man,
when things are great, I'm dancing. When things are bad,
I'm selling and I'm looking I'm blaming everybody. Again. It's
a it's a learning moment for Aaron Glenn and I
get the excitement, but dude, there's a minute this game
is not It's not like you blocked it on the
final player regulation you ran it back for a touchdown
(04:10):
and you won the game, or there's three seconds left
and you have to you have to execute the kickoff
like all that. All that I get this is like, Okay,
you're giving the ball right back to a quarterback who
just got who's had no problem getting you in field
goal range for the left, for the for this entire game.
And I felt like that that's a that's a message
that the coach needs to send out. Hey, that's great,
It's what I believe was gonna happen. We stayed in
(04:32):
this game, nobody quit. We came back. Now now we
gotta go finish. But it's like the game was over
at that point. And then I'm sitting of going, you know,
head coach, you gotta know better, man. I get you're excited,
but you gotta know better, man. And it was easy
and the but it was easy for Mayfield and the Bucks.
They got down there for a field goal. It was
it wasn't even like you set them up in a
couple of fourth downs. You set him in third long
(04:54):
it was easy for Mayfield to get down there. He
had a kickoff return. I mean, really, it just start. Yeah,
of course, which you can't let him have, right, you
can't yet, But again, where are you are you? Mentally?
The game is over again, you're talking about over a
minute and a half left to go, man, I mean
we're there's so much time left at this point. I'm going, Okay,
this is this is a Jet's gonna lose this twenty nine,
(05:14):
twenty seven. But no, Mike Evans, he's gone with the injury.
So now it's you're finding the next up and Abuco
with a couple of big catches, Shepherd with a big reception,
and you're kneeling down. Now, we'd be remiss if we
didn't go to the post game quote. I loved it
Mayfield set of beating the Jets. Also they're DC that's
uh Wilks right, was the one who cut me in Carolina.
(05:37):
So a lot of stuff was personal today. Pause Hassan Reddick. Yeah,
he's a former Jet too. A lot of people make
it all personal. Yes, it's all pretty you know what
if it works, Yeah, it's all personal right, But but
we're figuring out those driving motivations. Tom Brady has been
very open through the years about finding motivation of beating people.
The greatest of all time, Michael Jordan still many years later,
(05:59):
sit there with an iPad and channeling that and sending
bad juju to all those guys in their homes while
the last Dance was going on. Baker Mayfield channeling all
of that and part of the Brady thing. Also, you
know when you talk about the calm inside of the
two minutes, that guy's been to hell and back right
in terms of his football odyssey, and there you go,
we get back to odyssey member without Caitlin Kluk. But
(06:23):
the idea that for Baker Mayfield, it's not the I
don't care, but it's like I've had failure, so I'm
going to leave everything on the field. Right, there's no
reticence like he's not losing this job. He's lost many
before it. So when it comes to executing an offense,
he's now got the belief of all of those guys
in that locker room, and especially last week, right coming
(06:46):
off of that win Monday Night, where he's giving up
his body and tweaks and knee and still keeps fighting forward. Yeah,
you want to talk about a cohesive unit, not to
mention the fact you're not losing in those uniforms. You're
just not Yeah. No, no, no, screamsycles are you know,
plus one and a half?
Speaker 4 (07:04):
No?
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I mean really, oh, scream schools are worth one and
a half points, worth one any like that. I mean,
I'm watching that and I'm going We're just we're just
gonna lose. I'm such a fatalist, right, We're lit lose
twenty nine, twenty seve We're gonna lose this game. We're
gonna But there was I mean, like, you're the head coach.
You have to set the tone for everything going on.
I get there's probably lots of head coach you want
(07:26):
to jump up and down like lunatics when a team
makes a play. But you know, hey, understand, the job
isn't done. You took the lead, but now you have
one of the best quarterbacks in the league is getting
the ball back with a minute forty minute forty five
left to go, plenty of time for a field goal,
plenty of time and guess what, That's exactly what happened.
But it stands in stark contrast, and we were having
(07:46):
a laugh before we came on air. We'll pull the
curtain back. We're watching Monday night football, chatting up a
little bit off the weekend and everything, and this clip
goes up comparing the countenance of Matt Eberflus against our
new coach Ben Johnson there in Chicago and postgame and
everything else. But end game is where I'm going to
(08:07):
on that flea flicker which almost went wrong fifteen different times.
But Burden comes down with the touchdown and they panned
Ben Johnson once he got hands on on the thighs.
He's not smiling, he's not grinning, you know, he wants
to let out a big fist pump whatever, because that
was that was the talk pre game and all week
(08:28):
of just put the ball up over these beleaguered Dallas
cornerback and safety. Either you're going to be able to
get the big play, and sure enough it hits. But
he's not even cracking a smile versus do you remember?
I mean, b That's all I would saying of there's
a minute and what are we doing? What do we did?
The game is not over. They need a field goal
(08:50):
game that's just it, right. It doesn't extend it to
an eight point lead or a two possession lead. It's
and especially off the conversation we just had fifteen minutes
ago to the whole show. Download the podcast while we're done.
Is where we're talking about field goal kickers. Now, obviously
there's a degree of certainty. Go ask the Atlanta Falcons
(09:10):
about that today. But you have at least a chance,
even if you have to superte it. You don't need
a lot of yardage to at least put yourself in
the position to take the shot at the long range
field goal. And that was the disappointing thing, especially once
you saw the kickoff returns, like, wow, they need like
twenty yards. That's it. That's all. I was thinking, that's all.
(09:33):
And I knew and I said, okay, all right, but
Syracuse one, yeah, and yeah, well yeah, huge, we'll get
to that huge win. Lost our quarterback, so lost the
number one passer in the country, tora Is Achilles. But
you took down Yeah no, but hey no, hey, great,
you may focusing on the good. Hey, you know, Dabo
tired of winning? Maybe tired of winning Clemson. Oh, you
(09:55):
won't change. We'll get to that Big Bears flea flicker
and performance against Cowboys coming up there. Performance. But first,
let's find out what's trending in the wide world of
sports for man who apparently has been calling the plays
for the Lions remotely the last few minutes. There's been
power eye formations and pitchbacks and wide receivers pitching to
running backs. It's special delivery, Steve to Sega. Boy, did
(10:17):
that pitch right work. I was up and down in
the studio that I would love to have called that play.
It was a genius.
Speaker 6 (10:24):
I mean you could see as soon as nobody fumbled
the pitches. Oh my goodness, there's gonna be a touchdown.
Jamiir Gibbs four yard touchdown run to open the fourth
quarter and give Detroit the lead again twenty eight to
twenty one at Baltimore. There in the opening minute of
the fourth Jared Goff eighteen of twenty three passing one
hundred and seventy nine yards and a touchdown of eighteen
yards in the third.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
To Amanros Saint Brown.
Speaker 6 (10:45):
A couple of one yard touchdown runs for Detroit in
the first half Jamiir Gibbs and David Montgomery. Montgomery has
a seventy two yard run that's set up a score.
He has nine carries one hundred and fourteen yards. Jamiir
Gibbs seventeen carries just forty eight eight yards. Lamar Jackson
two touchdown passes won late first half, one early second half.
(11:06):
Derrick Henry an early touchdown run of twenty eight yards.
Aside from that, it's nine carries nineteen yards for Henry.
Tonight this Sunday, Baltimore's at Kansas City By the Way,
Detroit will host Cleveland. Forty nine Ers edg rusher Nick
Bosa is out for the year with a torn acl
San Francisco quarterback Brock Purty will resume practicing on Wednesday.
He was limited in practice last week. Quarterback Mac Jones
(11:28):
just started He's day to day with a spring knee.
Forty nine Ers wide receiver Juwan Jennings is day to
day with a bad ankle. The suspension of San Francisco
White out DeMarcus Robinson is over. Cardinals running back James
Conner is out for the season. He'll have foot surgery.
Arizona wide receiver Zay Jones has a concussion. Thursday, Arizona
hosts Seattle Chargers backup running back Najee Harris is out
(11:50):
for the year with a torn achilles. Dallas wide receiver
CD Lamb could miss a month with an ankle injury.
Cowboys first round guard Tyler Booker will miss at least
four weeks with a high ankle. Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy
will be out again this week with an ankle injury.
Minnesota will be in Dublin against Pittsburgh this Sunday morning
our time. The suspension of Minnesota wide receiver Jordan Addison
(12:11):
officially ended today. Washington quarterback Jaden Daniels is still day
to day with a knee injury. The Giants have not
announced a starting QB for Sunday against the Chargers. Atlanta
parted ways with wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard. Tampa Bay
Star wide receiver Mike Evans will have an MRI tomorrow
and has injured hamstring. Cold twide out Alec Pearce is
in concussion protocol, and Dolphins tight end Darren Waller could
(12:34):
play next Monday after a hip injury. Auburn basketball coach
Bruce Pearl retired. His son Stephen was promoted to head coach.
Duke women's coach. Carol Lawson is USA Basketball's new women's coach.
She was an assistant last summer. The twenty twenty eight
Olympics will be in LA. The US women have won
sixty straight games in the Olympics. The WNBA Semis continue
(12:56):
on Tuesday. Houston Rockets veteran guard Fred van Vliet reportedly
has a torn ACL three MLB games tonight. The regular
season ends this Sunday. The Atlanta Braves had won eight
in a row. They have won tonight eleven to five.
Is the final over Washington, and two games that really
count are underway. It's Cardinals at Giants one to one
(13:17):
on the top of the four, three and ten. Justin
Verlander the starter for San Francisco, which has lost seven
of nine. They're three games out of the final NL wildcard.
The Padres can clinch a playoff for birth with a
victory at home tonight, but they're losing three to one
to Milwaukee in the top of the fourth. The Brewers
clinch the NL Central title yesterday. They should finish as
the number one overall seed for the playoffs. The Reds
(13:39):
have won five in a row. They're idle. They do
now own the last NL wildcard because they have the
tiebreaker over the slumping Mets, and MLB owners approved the
sale of the Tampa Bay Rays for one point seven
billion dollars. It should be finalized this week.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve Oh don't forget this
show sponsor by DraftKings sportsbook and official sports betting partner
of the NFL. Right now, use the promo code JSS
to claim your special offer DraftKings again, that's promo code
JSS at DraftKings. JSS at DraftKings. The crown is yours.
So twenty eight twenty one your Lions score. They lead
(14:13):
the Ravens right now, early in the fourth quarter, but
Baltimore is driving. They are now in the red zone.
We'll have more on this game coming up in a
few minutes. But uh, there's predictions and there's me getting
the Caleb Williams Fantasy prediction of last week. I told you, Etsy, Buddy,
I told you what the Bears. Everything was gonna be
(14:33):
fine this week. I told you Caleb Williams is gonna
roll over the Cowboys secondary. He's gonna be the number
one Fantasy quarterback of the week. What happened? Caleb Williams
rolls over the Cowboys number one Fantasy quarterback of the Week.
I am the Caleb Williams whisper I'm gonna paint my nails,
I'm gonna hug my mom. I'm gonna do all kinds
of cool stuff because I am the Caleb Williams whisperer.
(14:55):
I'm with you, yeah, yeah, I mean, look, how excited
are you? You know what what we've been doing with
Pete Futech for weeks. Right, I believe in this, but
I don't believe in that right in terms of a
player or a coach versus the team or whatever. With
the Bears, I believe in the player would coach. Yes,
the team still needs to finish, but for one day,
(15:16):
for one day and all Hey, and at the Wieners Circle,
I've not gotten a response from him yet. I'm trying
to see if they will ship us out some hot dogs,
because tomorrow they had posted on social media if Caleb
throws four touchdowns, free hot dogs on Tuesday. Hey, We're
gonna have hot dogs every week this year. He's throwing
for four touchdowns. But I mean, think about how brilliant
(15:36):
it is. It goes back to those promotions that Taco
Bell did during the World Series, because who the hell
goes to Taco Bell for a single talk? You get
a free I can eat fourteen just like a taco
anything else, napkins, No drink water? Oh I do need
some sauce. Okay, that'll be a dollar nine. Pull around
to the front, thank you. But you know what I mean,
(15:57):
Like most folks, you're gonna go in like why you're
going to the Wieners circle. They're at least getting you
for a large soada. But they they owned it up immediately, like, hey,
we're doing it Tuesday.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
All right.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
It's kind of like that promotion we had with the
Brewers a while back. But we look at Caleb Williams
in his post game he addressed it three hot dogs
for folks, and we knew that the secondary for the
Cowboys is just terrible. We watched Russell Wilson have that
monster game in Week two, so I didn't worry about
the Bears offense. Did I think they'd hit that level
(16:30):
of efficiency with big plays? Maybe he was four for
four of things. Oh I did, because I knew the Cowboys.
The Cowboys defense is just as bad. But you also
got that defensive line is no good and their secondary
is no good, and and they need to put you
if you force Caleb Williams into a ton of pressure.
He's not at the point in his career yet where
I can get outside the box, get to my uh
(16:51):
my secondary and tertiary reads and make plays. So that
was a big thing. And of course, if your secondary
can't hang with your receivers, you have some pretty talent downfield.
Right Lovelin was looked like he was gonna have a
good game before he got hurt. They didn't have DJ
Moore wasn't even a part of the offense really until
the fourth quarter, and still roma Dunes. They looked like
he's coming. Caleb Williams, I've told you from the beginning.
(17:12):
The now again the Bears is another thing, right, but
Williams was gonna be fine. He's with a coach that's
gonna get the best version of him. And yeah, Caleb
Williams is gonna be streaky, right, That's the thing. Caleb
Williams is not gonna be one of those guys where
every week I'll go for two hundred yards and dal'll
give you, you know, a touchdown. He's gonna be streaky.
He's gonna give you weeks like this, but then you're
gonna get some weeks where hey boy, really not a
(17:34):
great week, but still being able to make plays. He
has flashed way more than any other quarterback outside of
Jayden Daniels the last couple of years talking about new
guys to come into the league, he has flashed so much.
He has all the talent you need. His first three
weeks this year, twenty five other teams in the NFL
would take Caleb Williams first three weeks this year. He
(17:55):
has been able to move the football, He's been able
to make plays with his legs. He's able to get
guys involve down the field. Now suddenly Odoonsay is a
big weapon. Now it's not just Dj Moore and maybe
we'll try to figure stuff out, but Caleb Wit, he's
gonna be streaky. You're gonna get games where it's like,
oh man, Caleb had a bad game. But you know what,
that's how gunslingers are, right. No one always said, oh man,
Brett farv one touchdown, three picks, gotta get rid of him. No,
(18:16):
but that's why it is. For Caleb Williams. I told
you he's gonna be fine. Ben Jonson's the right guy
for him. That's gonna work. Now the rest of it again,
you're right, the rest of it that's different. But but
to the cowboys are terrible, and Caleb Williams was good
and he's gonna be good, and you got the right guy. Yeah,
when you look, I had no doubt. It's all just
a matter of patience, right again, and pragmatism and the
(18:38):
voice of reason. Here for those that have missed it,
this is the uh quick synopsis of a much longer
rant from earlier in the year. It's it's growing into
a guy that he's never had to be at USC
and certainly last year in Chicago, where it was just
go out and try it, try something, do something, even
(18:58):
if it's wrong. And he took a lot well yesterday
as the first time that's the cleanest his damn jersey
has ever looked. Zero sacks on the day, So you
take the victory lap in that regard. But in terms
of working under center, play action from under center, and
operating to that level of efficiency of timing and rhythm,
(19:19):
that's never been part of his game. It wasn't what
he was asked to do. And that's what Ben Johnson's
whole offense is predicated on. That doesn't happen in two
to three weeks. Now, you got the perfect opponent this week.
The drive that I loved most was the nineteen play
seventy six drive that goes ten minutes long. You give
(19:40):
me a couple of those mixed in now. The players
don't love it, and yes, it's the potential for absolute
chaos to happen because you're expecting at least one penalty
that's going to screw up the whole thing. But when
you can execute one of those, that's when, as a
coach you're starting to feel pretty good about it because
now you're being bullies, right. Flash plays are going to
be there. You knew Caleb with his athleticism, he's gonna
(20:02):
get a roll out, he's got a big arm. You're
gonna get some splash plays. But when you can also
play bully ball, even if you don't have that a
list number one running back, which they really don't in Swift,
but they were able to do it yesterday, ain'team play drive? Yeah,
that's the one I'm hanging my hat on. I love
the explosive touchdowns play and the fact that guys are
(20:23):
standing all alone in the end zone. That's great, But
if they could play bully ball too and start to
pull the strings that way, it'll save that defense a
bit as well. Exit out, Bout of Fresca, Exit swalling down.
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Coming up next, we'll have more football. Everything is good
for the Bears. The one NFL superstar I've really had

(21:35):
at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. Well, big update for Monday
Night football.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Four and a half left to go. Lions lead the
Ravens thirty one twenty four. The Lions have the football
after stopping the Ravens and now they can run the
clock out if they can move the chains a couple
more times. Jamiir Gibbs has just run for a first down,
so that'll be a fresh set of downs for the
Lions again. Just over four minutes left to go. The
(22:01):
Ravens do have all three timeouts, and I think, uh,
you know, NFL fans are gonna sit back and go Okay.
The Ravens field goal the game in twenty four points
was clearly questionable and I don't know that it passed
over the uprights. But wow, is that gonna be a
big firestorm depending on how this game ends, does it
take over for the tush push? And now we have
(22:22):
to adjudicate how we uh review field goals? Well, you
know man in the booth like that, you gotta go
to the booth and get the little guy, like if
it's a uh what is it Rugby, that little dude
with the cool hat. Oh yeah, the points it does
and the points it does, the whole history onics. See,
I'm just thinking more. You're gonna get mahomes going see this.
We gotta have this at home when we played games.
We gotta have that.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
If it's no good, if Butker misses because he's missed
a couple, just gotta say it's good and and and
it's good.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
And no one's gonna carec if we're the chiefs, So
just Doland's average.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
If it's good, it's even even if we really misses,
just don't show it just cause our fans will cheer.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
NBC. Fine, maybe fielder go will be good. And do
they go up and actually measured that the all the
goal posts are the same, you know, thickness the same
with right real mayby you shave him off a little bit,
so you steal a couple of inches on either side.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
We don't even have field goal posts aren't real. We
just got kind of beat them in, all right. It's
like a big hologram, and we make it as wide
as it needs to be for the field goal. So
it's if it's really really wide. We just linked in
the gold post out looks good on television.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
That's all. It is, what we do. You got it
drifted down into Scatman Crubbers a little further than Patrick
Mahomes Permit the Frog. You know, Scotman Cruthers, most overrated
hero in a movie ever, finally makes it and the
shine I'm here to save you boom. Come on, man,
you gotta get you bet all this whole big thing
to get there, and you all through the planes, trains
and automobiles to get there to save the kid. And
(23:44):
all of a sudden you're there for like five I'm
here to save you and then no, sorry, now now
you're dead. Doesn't come on, man. He was able to
parlay that into the lead role voice actor for Hong
Kong Fu. You shut up, Superhero, So lions lead the
ravens again and just outside of the two minute warning.
Now facing a third and five, So we'll have more
(24:04):
on this game coming up. But I mentioned the Chiefs
for a minute there mentioned the Chiefs. I am really
one percent. I am done with Travis Kelcey. I'm done
with his historyonics in every game of him yelling at
his teammates, yelling at Andy Reid, like yesterday during the
win over the Giants. His video in the first half,
(24:25):
he's screaming at the guys. He's screaming at Andy Reid.
Andy Reid has to get in Travis Kelsey's face and
yell back at him. Now, second half, this is the
end of the first half. And Andy Reid said today,
I don't mind the passion. I don't mind it. Travis
is that guy. He knew when we need a kick
in the pants and he said that. And look, you
saw how the Chiefs came out in the second half, right,
(24:46):
Chris Collinsworth was saying it the whole time. I don't
know what Andy Reid did at halftime, but wow, this
is a more focused Chiefs offense and they just you know,
they pretty much put the hammer down on the Giants
the rest of the way. So I get that and
I get that. That's who Travis Kelsey is. I'm just
done with him yelling at everybody, and because he honestly,
it's a really it's just an awful optic And I
(25:07):
see him and I just go, dude, you're just embarrassing
yourself with this. You're just embarrassing yourself. I know you're
done as an NFL player. And he knows he's done.
He's not a guy affecting the games like he could anymore.
He is done. He has spent the last couple of
years live in the high Life, Live in the fast
Lane podcast Superstar. I get it. He's also when you
get to your mid thirties, you're at the end. And
(25:28):
I get he's mad because he's seeing I can't dominate
games like I used to and I'm nearing the end.
This is my last year in the NFL. The Chiefs
wouldn't give him more money another year in his contract.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I want more.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
I want more, dude. We know you're done, right, we
know you're finished. So I get the frustration, But just
this whole yelling every single time when things aren't going right,
Especially when you're yelling and you're not backing it up,
it's one thing to yell and say follow me, follow
me to freedom, and he does old Charlie Steiner Sports
Center commercial. Right, But when you say, hey, come on,
we got to do it, and then you drop you
drop a past, it turns into a pick that cast
(26:01):
your team the game. Or you don't really affect the
the the game like you used to. Just you're just
embarrassing yourself. But I feel like you're just losing your
you're losing your cool and you're losing your your head
because you're just you're mad that you're not playing well
and the Chiefs aren't playing well, and it's just a
broken record over and over again. I'm like, dude, come on,
you just you just look bad. It's a really bad
(26:22):
optic that every time we see Travis Kelcey here he
is hero. All he's doing is yelling at his teammates,
are yelling at his head coach. Again, it's time just stop.
Just go play and and if if you you can't
affect the game, Okay, I understand that, but man, really,
every week this is what Travis scot I'm done with this.
I'm time placed down distance and obviously histrionics are going
(26:43):
to be much more acceptable the eccentricities of players coaches GS. Remember,
Mike McDaniel was really really just quirky and cute when
he first got the job with the Dolphins because the
offense was working. Now it's a well it's a word
sound not not quirky, not cute. Right now, like all
of it's gone. It's like he doesn't know what he's doing.
He's just making it up as he goes along. Right,
(27:04):
it's no longer no longer the thing that folks want
to go on board. It's they've flipped one hundred and
eighty degrees with Travis Kelce. Last year's still ninety seven receptions,
not a lot of separation, not a lot of yak,
and certainly not a lot of red zone success. But
you don't have the pull the punches like you had
right pulling the strings with Tyreek Hill over the top.
(27:25):
You're able to make it work and you're able to
win games, but it's not the same level of efficiency.
And then certainly for this year, you're still trying to
figure out how it's going to play out. And we'll
see once the rest of the wide receivers come back.
But in the interim he's had two plays already. Week one,
Remember that half assed drag across the middle that he
(27:46):
did were he and Mahomes. Clearly he didn't speed up
properly or Mahomes didn't read it prop but that should
have been a fall into the end zone. Play instead
falls harmlessly in complete. Week two, you've got a catchable
ball that turns into an interception, should have been a touchdown.
Week three, now you're complaining you don't get the ball.
Seven targets, four catches, but you're not impacting the game
(28:07):
and you're frustrated.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
That's there's something to being a vocal leader. But when
you're running up to the coach like Dad, Dad, it's
not it's work. It's gone past the inspiration to just
now you just look mad and you're losing your temper.
That's what it looks like to me. It's always there's
that divide between if I'm within my position, group, the lineman, whatever,
my offense, and we're getting after it a little bit,
(28:31):
then I can still get into the leader thing. But
if you're going to the coach like, what the hell
is what's the communication with Andy Reid? At that point
you know and look, and that's the thing.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Right.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
We saw it with him in the Super Bowl yelling
at Andy Reeve when I'm not getting the ball enough.
We've seen it now so many times to the point
where I almost feel like, you know, and I said
this about Tom Brady, is that how many times when
the Patriots weren't playing well did you see during a
game him yelling at his offensive line in the sideline, right,
like a bit of a I want you to know,
(29:01):
it's not my fault, right, it's not my fault. I'm
yelling at my offensive line. And I've seen that so
many times now, Togo, Okay, this is Brady wanting you
to knowing what the optics are like, knowing the camera
is on him and he's yelling at his offensive line,
and I want to almost feel like Travis Kelcey is
doing the same thing. I'm not having a good game.
We're not having a good game, and it's and people
(29:22):
are gonna blame me because I'm the I'm the image
optic of this team now, as great as Mahomes is.
But I'm dating Taylor Swift. I know that you know
the type of impact that I have what people say
about me. So I'm gonna yell at everybody because I
want people to know, hey, look at me leading. I
can't do anything on the field. But I'm now yelling
at legue. And part of me thinks there's a large premise. Says, Okay,
(29:42):
when he's not playing well, he knows and he gets
frustrated with that, and he doesn't want people to say
bad things about him and blame it. So I'm just
gonna yell. I'm gonna yell at everybody in the side.
And it looks bad. I mean, and it's not like
I'm yelling all the time, yelling before a big drive.
I'm yelling at no. I'm yelling at all random times
during a game, after I'm not getting the ball after
off it is not playing well. What are you trying
to accomplish? Are really you yelling? Andy Reid? Noill have
(30:05):
to yell at you and say, dude, what the hell
are you doing? Okay, just stop. I'm the coach of
this team. Just stop. Like, I don't know the purpose
other than to serve to try to help him or
deflect blame when people want to say, hey, it's your fault.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
But here's the problem is that I like to think
some of us, not all of us. Some of us
are smarter than that. We see what we see during
a game. It's like you're not playing well, you're a
step slower. We go back to the Super Bowl. Look,
I'll give him credit for battling through the regular season,
finishes with a high target and catch count, but then
he had nothing left in the tank when you actually
(30:38):
got into the playoffs in the Super Bowl, where there
were a couple of give up efforts on blocks he
should have made, and the stuff of that ILK like
the fundamentals of it. For this year, you're off to
a rough start and clearly growing pains. For this offense.
Defense is pretty good. It's going to keep you in games,
might actually win you a couple of games before it's
all said and done, and the schedule makers did you
(30:59):
no favor. Right, it's one heavyweight battle after another. Right
off to jump, right, because even this week, you know
we we've got another big game because they've got they've
got Baltimore this week. Right, so you know you're you're
looking at, you know, another big defensive effort you're going
to need and guess what, even at their best, that
means you're gonna need to score at least twenty four
(31:20):
points to win, so good luck on that. But but
all of that is it's not gonna obfuscate our opinion
of where you're at as a player. We all recognize
this is the last rodeo, right, There's there's nothing around
that unless suddenly you you had some some superhuman Uh
well go back to you know, Hong Kong Fui and
turning into a superhero. Uh see what I did there?
(31:41):
Oh yeah, no, it's because it's still related to your
Patrick mahomes improdu so it all works. But like, unless
that's suddenly gonna happen and you're putting on a cape,
it's it's done right. So you have to figure out
how to make those other wide receivers the best versions
of themselves. They can be support mahomes where you can,
But the tantrums aren't going to hide the fact that
(32:02):
you're in diminished capacity at this point. Exit out about
a fresco exit swalling down the Jason Smiths or with
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios At

than eighty sixty five graduate online degrees and certificates, including

Visit UMGC dot edu. That's UMGC dot edu. So when
(32:27):
you talk about Travis Kelcey and next week getting the Ravens,
somebody's going to one and three because the Lions are
putting the finishing touches on. What's gonna wind up being
a thirty eight to twenty four win over the Baltimore
Ravens in the last few minutes has been everything the
Lions have shown you the last couple of years to
(32:48):
become the big time Super Bowl contender that they've been.
With the ball and a touchdown lead, they were facing
a fourth and two near midfield, and I said, well,
of course they're going to go for it because this
is what Dan Campbell does. We're going for it on
fourth down, fourth and two. We could potentially win the game.
They've been running the football really well. David Montgomery, you
had one hundred yard game. It was it looked like
(33:09):
we're gonna get something two yards. A play action pass,
even though i'man Ross Saint Brown, gets grabbed the line
of scrimmage. They throw a flag, It doesn't matter, Jared
Goff leads him perfectly. They pick up about twenty yards
on the play. Two plays later, David Montgomery is in
the end zone from twenty five yards out. It's a
thirty eight to twenty four lead for the Lions right now.
(33:31):
No matter where you look, this has been a team
that has come through. It's been a big day for
Jared Goff. Incredibly accurate throwing the football, running the football
they've run for two twenty five on them and David
Montgomery with one hundred and fifty yards. I'm on ross
Aint Brown seven for seventy seven to a touchdown. He's
had a big game. The Lions up by two touchdowns
now with less than a minute left to go. This
(33:52):
is everything you have seen. Has been the Lion showing
you why we're a Super Bowl contender, making the big,
gutsy plays. And next week we're gonna say wow, Chiefs
and Ravens, which we thought could be the AFC Championship game.
One of these teams is gonna be one and three,
and I think it's gonna be the Chiefs. But one
of these teams is gonna be one and three. John
Morton and his unit getting it done. Rag now retires
(34:15):
in June, and it's a question of whether that offensive
line is gonna be able to pick up how much
difference does this team look coming into the new year
with Ben Johnson gone, your guy Aaron Glenn strutting down
the sidelines after big plays. And you had that Week
one miserable effort against Green Bay to where it's like,
all right, what is this? And you don't know from
(34:37):
week one right? Week two we watch the Packers defense
dominate again. The Lions go up and down and absolutely
obliterate and embarrass the Chicago Bears to where they're recreating
offensive lineman celebrations after touchdowns. But then here we are
in week three and you're taking on a pretty good
Ravens squad. Now, we watched the first first game they
(35:00):
collapsed against the Bills after dominating most of that game,
but it's a game of sixty minutes. And then last
week you have the Browns take it with a great assault.
They are what they are. But we're watching the Ravens
defense giving up chunk yardage and absolutely getting obliterated at
the line of scrimmage time and time again. David Montgomery
with a massive game. Yeah, I mean this is this
(35:20):
has been and this has been an incredible effort by
the Lions in the second half, they're thirty five seconds
away from going to two and one. I mean really, look,
I feel much better after this week about my you know,
Lions NFC Championship Lions Rams. Okay, Rams had a tough one,
but I get it, But I feel much better about
the Lions after this. They felt that the game three
(35:41):
weeks ago to the Packers feels like it was a
year ago. Like, wow, really struggled that much?
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Gun?
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Okay, Well, hey, maybe the maybe the coordinators really know
what they're doing. Maybe John Morton knows what he's doing
is offensive coordinator. Maybe the Packers really aren't that great
brown right Shay brownsoh exity, We actually have a Browns
fan working on the show now. So I got the
fist pump. There you go, exit out about a Fresca
(36:07):
exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best

Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should

Show and subscribe. Mike and I love putting this content
out for you every single night. Well right now, Jared
Goff is hyping up the crowd in Baltore on his
way off the field following his postgame interview. The Lions
doing Lions things. Late in the fourth quarter of this game,
(38:33):
pulled away from the Ravens thirty eight to twenty four,
their personality on display a fourth and two play action
pass that turns into a first down that two plays
later is a David Montgomery touchdown. They hold on to
win this a thirty eight to thirty rather of the
final Baltimore does get a touchdown, they go for two
for some crazy reason, don't get it and then don't
(38:56):
get the on sidekick after a neal play.
Speaker 8 (38:59):
That is it.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
The lie go to two and one, and the Ravens
and the Chiefs will hook up next week and one
of them is going to be zero to three. Joining
us now in the hot line to break it all down.
Nobody better than longtime NFL insider thirty third team. He
is a Hall of Very Good voter who will put
a lot of players from this game into the Hall
of Very Good because this is a very good football
game tonight. It is Jason cole Ja calls happening.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
Man, I'm feeling very good. I'm feeling really, really very good,
fantastic about mine. They're going for two. I liked because
they were going to try and win the game in regulation.
And when your defense is playing that bad, you got
you gotta take, you gotta take a extra shot at it,
(39:43):
if that makes sense. And like to me, this was
zach Or. The defensive quarrier for the Ravens is almost gone.
Like that's because it's a huge indictment when you say,
we're at home and I'm so desperate that I have
(40:06):
to go for two in this situation to try and
win in regulation after we get the if we get
the on site pick, and when they managed to score,
I don't trust our defense enough to go to overtime.
That's how bad things are defensively for BOTHI I mean
they are. This is the worst Ravens defense I've seen
(40:30):
twenty years, twenty five years. I mean they're really really
bad right now. Like there's no speed, like they're playing
like they're playing like they're in sand Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
No, they made David Montgomery look like Barry Sanders on
some of the runs. I'm like he's he's knuckles, He's
not sonic. If that was Jamir Gibbs, I get it.
This is David Montgomery looks like he's Barry Sanders.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Yeah, I mean I know that the trut line is good, right,
and but this is this was just like, Oh, We're
going to play toe to toe, hand to hand combat
with one of the best offensive lines in all football.
And it's like, you got it? I mean, how about
(41:16):
a stunt once in a while. Do we do that?
About a blitz once in a while like that you got? Yeah?
You got anything where you can shift your life? How
about you know, like, why do you still look at
Rex Ryan's old play calls and say, let's run an
overload blitz once in a while just to scare, you know,
Jared goffin get him off of his game. I mean,
(41:36):
the whole point to Jared Goff is to get him
off platform. Because I just loved the one where Golf
went to he started scrambling out to his left and
he got to like the hash mark and he said,
screw it, I'll just throw this thing out of bouncing
after like no attempt to do like the justin Herbert,
let me throw it back against that body. And you know,
(41:58):
see if Keenan Allen can get it, like it's like no, no, no,
we don't do that because Jared Goff can't do that.
He's just incapable of doing that, and Baltimore was incapable
of making him feel uncomfortable on a consistent basis. I mean,
this is I just I've watched the Baltimore defense for
a long time and he's for these first three weeks.
(42:20):
I mean, they're got awful. They're just got awful right now.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Well, it's fun is next Sunday, As Jason alluded to,
we got one team is going to go to one
and three, either the Ravens or the Chiefs. Good times.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Yeah, this is the game that Baltimore can handle because
the Chiefs can only play little ball right now, like
they can This is like watching Jeene mock manage in baseball,
like let's bust in the first inning, Like yeah, like.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
They're just dude, No, I got that, and Harmon got that.
Nobody else in the world got that reference.
Speaker 4 (42:54):
But we And that's okay.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Steve di Seger got it as well. He's clapping for
you right now. Do you have to say you got
that as.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
Well yeah, yeah, so there are three people who under
the three people in the world, well, actually four because
he included me, remember gene b right, Like, we'll do
a more modern reference. Jimmy de Leland. We used to
when he was in Pittsburgh. Remember when he would have
Jade bell.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
And he would smoke in the dugout because it was
so stressful for him. I love Jim.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
Yeah, jim Leland is one of the best of all times.
Like bunting in the first inning, but that's basically what Andy.
Andy Reid's team is reduced to bunting in the first
inning because they got like there's no Worthy, there's no
Rashi Rise, there's no attack. Yeah, and and Travis Kelty
(43:46):
is like, hey, what what what what are we ordering
for the wedding reception? Like that's all he's doing right now.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Well, no, he's very mad during the game because he
wants people to know that he's leading in his patch.
It when he's not touching passes.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
When he's not catching passes that were injuring his teammates. Yeah,
he turns right, he's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
Now flip side of this j call maybe, and I'm
going out on a limb here. Maybe John Morton knows
what he's doing, his Lions offensive coordinator. Some of those calls.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
Look, he's terrific.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
You know.
Speaker 4 (44:24):
I don't want to say sit here and say the Ravens,
you know, got played by some awful team. All right,
this was Yeah, they're playing a top level team, but
the Ravens are supposed to be right there with them.
And everybody talked about how this was supposed to be
the best defense they've had in a few years.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
Now, most talented Ravens roster. Ever, that's all we were
told repeatedly throughout the present best roster they've ever had
all the way.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
Yes, exactly. And when you watch the defense, the other
offense is okay. You know they're making some mistakes are fixable.
I mean, Derrick Henry is not going to fumble seventeen
times this year and lose them all. I just don't
believe that that's going to happen, especially in the second
half or fourth quarter whatever that ridiculous stat is that
he's got right now. But that's not going to happen.
(45:14):
And they're going to figure out the small things that
they're screwing up on offense because they're scoring points and
they scored enough points in Buffalo in the opening week
they should have won there. And the offense was good
enough if they eliminate a couple of mistakes that they
would have been right there. The problem is the defense
is terrible right now, and they just they're like they
(45:37):
just line up and take on blockers and they're slow
off the line of scrimmage. And you played that way
on a Monday night at home. This is the time
when you're supposed to be as jacked up as possible,
and you're playing like you're just going through the motions
(45:58):
like this is pre season. So I just I got
questions for Zach Orr after this one. And if I
don't like the if I'm Steve Dashatti, who has been
part of firing four names you know before since as
in their Super Bowl championship season when they got rid
of who was the who was the offensive coordinator that
(46:20):
they replaced with Jim Caldwell. It was the goofy guy
who was down in as the head coach in Miami
for a while for the one season when they work
one in fifteen.
Speaker 1 (46:33):
Cameron.
Speaker 4 (46:34):
Yeah, it was Cam Cameron. Remember they fired Cam Cameron
with like three or four games left than the season.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Yeah, they to John Beck in the second round to
be there. Quote yeah, yeah, yeah, thats right, yeah right.
Speaker 4 (46:45):
Like that whole thing. Like, you know, Steve Dashatti has
has said, you know, we'll make a move, and he
may turn to John Harbaugh and say, look, you better
bring Wink Martindale back and get him to take advantage
of the greatest roster that you've ever built, you know,
(47:05):
in Raven's Sister or whatever you're saying. Because this ain't
good enough, because Zach Orr is not getting it done
at least through three games. I want I want some
very serious answers from Zach Orr about how things are
going to change. And if I don't like all the answers,
Sam like time to move on because this is just
not good enough.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Now I'm gonna celebrate all the works of Wake Martindale.
Go watch some game show network. He's Jason Gole, He's
with us. I'm Mike Arment that Jason Smith, Jason Smith, jew.
Speaker 4 (47:34):
Mike Armont is sounding so chipper. After that, after that
that Bear's victory yesterday.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Oh, I mean there's there's something about, you know, an
offense clicking and and and getting back at Eber fluse
and taking advantage of what's on the schedule. In other words,
here's some easy pray go.
Speaker 4 (47:51):
Get it, or are going, or just simply oh my god,
Caleb might be good. Oh god. I was okay with
that though, Jam he might be done.
Speaker 1 (48:02):
Yeah, but we talked about that.
Speaker 4 (48:03):
I'm so happy he might be done. I have a
quarterback and sending than Rick Myer in my lifetime. I
might wow. Look at that.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
He got a Rick Myra who was with the Bears
for a stretch time. I had Jason call sixty two
where you find me the Toniverse thirty third team, author
of many books you can find on Amazon. Stock Up
the holidays cometh soon. But Jay Cole, I mean, look,
you take advantage of what they're what's there the deep
ball early and often against this squad. But I've been
(48:34):
pointing out with Jason over the course of our first
couple hours here on air. I just love the nineteen
play drive. I know the players may not love it,
but when you can impose your will, that's always a
nice little pull the string kind of moment.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
Well, I mean there's two two drives of ninety five
herds are longer like that. That's that's that's what's happening.
As bad teams, you can have a bad defense, and
you shouldn't give up to ninety five yard drives like
you should be able to stop that. And they just
(49:09):
gutted him, especially on the ninety eight yarder. They just
they literally gutted him that whole drive. Again. That's where
I sit here and I say, this is one of
the least active Ravens defenses I've ever seen. And I
don't understand it. I don't get it. I know I'm
saying I'm not congratulating the Lions perhaps the way they should. No,
(49:34):
you're not.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
You're a Lion's hater. You can never go to Detroit.
I hate the Lions.
Speaker 4 (49:40):
I am a Lions hater. This is well established. Everybody
knows that. You know, for years and years and years,
I've harbored some secret hate because.
Speaker 1 (49:48):
You hate Simms, you hate Eric Hipple, you hate Dan Tampbell.
Speaker 4 (49:52):
Eric especially Eric Hipple.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
You hate, you hate everything about Detroit. You hate them all.
You hate Jack Morris, you hate Alan Trammel, everything, Steve Eiserman.
Speaker 4 (50:03):
Dave bing Ding.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
I couldn't stand that guy, even going out in Syracuse.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
Yeah, chat Walker, Yeah, I hated them all. Uh, yeah,
well I did. I did hate Lambert. I really did
hate Lambert and Rick Mahorn. That's a lot of love. Yeah,
that's John john Sally was amusing Isaiah Thomas hated him anyways,
(50:33):
like Benny Johnson because like I started a pattern in
my jump shot after Benny Johnson when I still had one.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
Anyways, I hate Benny Blades. Yeah, no, sure, I get it,
I understand.
Speaker 4 (50:43):
Yeah. I got some good Benny Blade stories that we
can't tell on this Okay, that way.
Speaker 1 (50:50):
Left journ Let's get a Benny Blade and a Jean
Walk story at once. That'll be great. People will love
the story. Holds up, it works, man.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
Any blades in jeene mock not normally in the same conversation,
not normally, not normally. Let's just say it's all about
the you baby and and and and you thuggery. Let's
just put it that way. Wow, where were we on
this whole thing?
Speaker 1 (51:20):
I was going to ask a question about the bars, and.
Speaker 4 (51:23):
I was heading Detroit.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
I was, you know Detroit.
Speaker 4 (51:26):
Yes, yeah, because I wasn't giving them enough credit, like
brilliant game. Yeah, Detroit one.
Speaker 1 (51:31):
It's too late now, No, it's too late. Now, No,
it's too late.
Speaker 4 (51:34):
Yeah, it's it's hollow. It's hollow, it's hollow. Praise. I
just this is just from a team. I was expecting more,
a more competitive effort from Baltimore. You know, they were
they expected me, We're going to give up, you know,
twenty four to twenty eight points, and that was going
to be a dog fight that way. I didn't expect
that they were going to get you know, boat raced
(51:55):
in this one. And they got boat raced in this one.
This was this was bad. This is a bad effort Baltimore.
One of the worst I've seen, especially in a home
game on Monday night. So moving on to we're.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Talking about No, no, we're done.
Speaker 4 (52:09):
We're talking about talk about Jerry Jones and his his
how things are going and how he cleanses. They've still
got a playoff team.
Speaker 1 (52:18):
No, you're going to join us on Wednesday, right, we're
going to talk about it. Right, you can join us
again this week we're talking.
Speaker 4 (52:22):
About Yeah, I didn't know. I didn't know this was
a double play week. Double up.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
That's what I'll send you, an extra Salmon's double play with.
Speaker 4 (52:32):
I say, we're going to make some moves here.
Speaker 1 (52:36):
We got to stop the run. I told you we
got to stop the run, and then we're going to stop.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
Now we can't stop pass. That's a whole nother problem. Yeah,
we were going to stop the run. Did you draft
anybody in the draft to stop for you know, we
didn't think it was really important. No, no, no.
Speaker 1 (52:53):
In free agency we didn't do it there either. But
now really, Steven told me it's important to stop the run,
so we're going to do it.
Speaker 4 (53:00):
Yeah, it's very important not to pay your starts. It's
very important to stop the run. That's all kind of dude. Yeah,
and save money on the start because we got paid
the guard, you know on the other side. We you
know that guard. What's what's his name? Smith?
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Yeah, yeah, still I think.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
It's I think that's it's you know, youngest son.
Speaker 1 (53:21):
I'm still paying still guard. I don't know if you
know I inherited stallbacks contract from nineteen seventy six, still
paying that. It's a whole TAXI.
Speaker 4 (53:28):
Yeah, he was making all of that Fortis house. Yeah, yeah,
I got fit. I gotta fit him under the I
gotta feed him under the Yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
Forty five nineteen seventy six is fourteen million now, so uh,
it's it to be a bit rate of flee. We'll
talk to you later this week, buddy, have fun later.
He and Jacob goes Jacob Time now to find out
what's trending in the wide world of sports. Some special delivery.
Steve to say, ar SD, what do you got, my friend?
Speaker 6 (53:56):
If you're asking, what's the name of that Dallas lineman,
the answer is probably Tyler Tyler. They got Tyler Booker's hurt. No,
you got Tyler Smith, Tyler Goton. And it's appropriate. We
president Tyler.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
That's right. I voted for him. I don't know if
you know this, and I've voted for Toner my first
election seventy five. Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 6 (54:15):
Tippy toe canoe and Tyler too. Boy, they are tippy
toeing around the problems on that roster with that true.
By the way, somebody's got to fire that GM. Jerry's
got to get well, well, we're gonna stop. Don't worry,
we'll stop the run. Don't worry, it's gonna.
Speaker 1 (54:27):
Happen, and stop making the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (54:30):
By the way, the g Macker references are very appropriate
at this time of the year, because you know he
was long before he was the Angels manager.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
He was the Phillies manager when.
Speaker 6 (54:40):
They completely collapsed in the last two weeks of a
season nineteen sixty four. They lost ten straight games and
they gagged literally a six and a half game lead
in the last two weeks and did not make the puss.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
I'll introduce you the New York Mets have just entered
the chat.
Speaker 6 (54:55):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
I don't want to talk to you about two thousand.
Speaker 6 (54:59):
In the last two and a half weeks, have a
record of four and eleven. So the Reds, who were
often I have won five in a row.
Speaker 1 (55:05):
I called information. I called four to one one. They
said the Mets are terrible. I said, okay, thank you.
Speaker 6 (55:10):
The Reds for now on the last NL wildcard because
they have the tiebreaker over the Mets. And he did
reference this what went on with the two long touchdown
drives of the line. In fact, they're the first team
in almost four years in the NFL to have two
TD drives of at least ninety five yards in the
same game. And one of those was a ninety eight
yard touchdown drive that lasted almost eleven minutes and it
(55:30):
had thirteen running plays in it that wound up with
a TD on the drive, most runs in a touchdown
drive since at least two thousand in the NFL, and
Derrick Henry did fumble for a third straight game. Detroit
won at Baltimore thirty eight to thirty. But Henry's had
a couple of fourth quarter fumbles already this season. If
you look at the last three Septembers. Now in the NFL,
(55:51):
only two guys have lost two fourth quarter fumbles this
early in the year, Derrick Henry and Rookie cam Ward
this year. Two touch down runs for Jamier Gibbs and
David Montgomery a win for the Lions on the road,
and Baltimore is now one and two. As for Major
League Baseball Light Night, but the Brewers are holding on
at San Diego three to two in the top of
the six. Cardinals lead at the Giants six' four bottom
(56:14):
of the. Fifth the starter For San francisco was three
and Ten Justin. Verlander giants have lost seven of.
Speaker 1 (56:20):
