the night, and he's got a perfect passer rating so far,
a perfect passer rating in more of his NFC dominance. Boy,

I'll tell you, if I was an NFC team, I
would trade He's twenty two to one against the NFC
in his career. I would trade for. I would. I
would assigned Lamar Jackson if I was an NFC team
a couple of years ago, just for that. I was like, Oh,

But how can I tell you the story of my
emotions and the Mets and the Jets, two of the
biggest stories the last twenty four hours. I can tell
you and and I can do it by comparing the
two teams. When the Mets lost yesterday, it was a tough.
You know, being out there for Game six was so
much fun, even jeapam, even even the fact that people

throwing gum at me and my daughter just because for
whatever reason not happy about it. But whatever, because I'm
not someone's going to go antagonize people. I'm just gonna
cheer for my team. But you know it happens sometimes
some is antagonizing. Yeah, yeah, but I'll lead. Yeah, I'm
sure you were insufferable for about fifteen minutes. Oh oh,
that was exciting. That was that was exciting. But the
guys around you probably there were more. The thing is,

I sat next to a Mets fan the game two
when I went, because I got both ends of the
Sean and I experience. You know, I got Game two
then I had Game six, I sat next to a
Mets fan. But I would say yesterday at Chavez Ravine
Game two, it was probably a quarter Mets fans, Like
that's how many Mets fans or I would say twenty
twenty five percent.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Why the media folks who suddenly decided to tell you
they were Mets fans.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yesterday maybe about five percent Mets fans. So yeah, but
much much more, much different yesterday. Uh So, I was
sitting next to a Mets fan and he did the
the Irish could buy in the eighth inning, like, hey,
we were on the top of the eighth inning. We're
chasing three. I said, yeah, we get one this inning. Yeah, okay, great.
I turned around and get on my phone for a second.
I look up and I go, where'd that guy? Where'd

that guy going? And always left? What do you mean
he left? dB traffic. I was talking to him the
whole game. He goes, Now, he just left, he just left.
We were talking the okay whatever. Well I told you
about that survey about a month ago. They say you
could add an extra year to your life if you
practiced the Irish. When you're done with your job for
the day you leave, you don't say goodbye to everybody.
I'm done. What party? You leave, you go to church,

you just leave. You've paid a lot of money for
those tickets. You just gonna leave. There's two more innings left, Okay,
suffer through the end of it. Man. No, And we
stayed because I wanted to. I said, Zoe went, wait,
do you see how you see? She was amazing the
electricity in the ballpark, different from any game she'd ever
been through. When I said, wait, do you see what
happens when they win? You know, at ten to four,
I'm like, Okay, that's gonna be it, and and you know,
the place goes crazy and the lights and the fans

and everybody jumping around on the field and you know.
And I walked away and I said, you know what,
we lost, right, we lost? But I felt great because
what did I tell you a couple of weeks ago?
And I don't I'm I'm not going to play though
we were supposed to be here. Cart No. I feel
great that that the Mets are now at the beginning
of what should be a run of some kind of
dominance for the next few years, because they have the

three biggest things right, ownership, general, manager, President of Baseball
Operations David Searns, and manager. They're the three biggest things
you need to create sustained success. Stars don't create sustained
success as much as they used to, but when you
have it, when you have a system in place. Because
for years it was the Mets.

Owners were horrible.

They were hiring a new manager every other year. There
was a new manager every other year. The Mets were
a mess. They were just trying to cut and paste
things all the way through. But Steve Cohen learned a
lot very early, hired waited for the right guy to
run the team, and then hired the right manager. And
so I feel great going I said, we have a
sustained sentiment. So I told you two weeks ago. That's
why I feel great. We figured out the top of

the organization, right, So that's great. Now. Compare that to
the Bleep and Jets, okay, who are come always always
trying how do we duct tape this thing together just
so and so it won't just fall apart? The jet,
you know, the Jets are like the Jets are like
the kid that works on his project, his science project
the night before school. But then you have to actually
get it to school and you have to worry, you

have to worry about it getting jostly in the back
of the car, the kid carrying it in, and it's
so precious and so delicate, and you put you try
to put tape on it, stop it, but it doesn't
matter because of all k no erupts or the blood
falls out of the skeleton, whatever it is, and it's
just a mess. It's held together with gum. And that's
what the gum thrown at you. And you want to
know why, and you want to know. And I was

mad because the gum actually went into my nachos, but
I was already I was almost done with them anyway.
But I'm still mad about that. But anyway, good because
that's what. Why are the Jets failed? Why are they
the biggest failure so far this year? Why are they
in a four game losing straight? Look at how they've
tried to do things right? Oh, we have a great defense,
all right, We're gonna gonna start putting people in. We're
gonna go get Aaron Rodgers. We're gonna go throw this guy,
(08:32):
and we're gonna put this in here. We're gonna put
this system in. We're Okay, it's not working. Okay, great,
so let's pull out apart. We're gonna fire the head coach.
You're gonna prote the defensive coordinator. We're gonna go sign
a wide receiver. All they're doing is trying to to
keep the game going. Let's just let's just put duct
tape on stuff and see if it works. The Jets
have no plan, and that's why they are where there are.
They have no plan. They have no identity. If you
(08:53):
said to me, what's the Jets identity, I would say,
it's just a bunch of guys together. It's a bunch
of talented guys that really they're trying to win games.
There's no we are a passing team for we are this,
we are there. I can't say that. I can't. They
can't even stop the run, right, So they can't even that.
And it always was a big thing that they couldn't
stop the run before, but now they really can't stop it.
And now when Rogers makes a couple of mistakes, it
(09:14):
gets compounded. The Jets just they have no They have
no forward thrust, and you want to go from the top.
They have a bad owner in Woody Johnson, who really
doesn't know. He's never been able to push the right buttons.
He's always been someone who whatever the decision is, and
I get that he wants to be aggressive, he wants
to win. He just always makes a decision that backfires.
You have a general manager who's brought some talent in,
(09:36):
but is there any cohesion? Is there any? Is there any?
Is there any? Hey? This is ours this is our
program that we have going on here. No, And you
brought in the head coach who was supposed to be
that guy, but now you fired him, just like you
fired all the other head coaches. The Jets have no
c the top three ownership, general manager, and head coach.
Now they're trying to make it work. Maybe Jeff Elbrick
is a good head coach. I don't know. But you
(09:57):
see now, you see I see the difference between my
two teams. Where the Mets he they made it to
the NLCS. It was it was a season that surprised
a lot of people. And there they are and that
was great and they are set up for success in
the future, right, all one hundred and sixty million dollars
coming off their books at the end of this year.
They're gonna be able to go out and get free agent.
It's gonna be it's gonna be even better team next year.
Where the Jets are just, hey, if we take this
(10:17):
piece from here and put it here, will this work?
Can we take this piece out of it? It's like
playing Chenga. I put this piece here and put it here,
it can build a bill and eventually it's gonna fall.
That's the Jet. That's the difference between these two teams.
So I feel good about the Mets even though they lost,
because they lost to the better team. And I have
no problem with that. But I watch Jets and I
go They are just every week trying to pick it
up on the fly. And that's the way this organization
has been now going on forty some odd years. So
(10:39):
I can't say it's new. But you want to know why,
I'll tell you why, because the Jets have no plan. Noh.

But it goes back to what we've said about organizations.
Pick your sport right. There's only a handful that you
say are run properly with the efficiency and the lie
chain of command to where it makes sense, whether it's
baseball minor leagues going up to where you build a
program and roll through. Say what you will about the Dodgers,

people laugh about bullpen games whatever. They're in the World
Series and they're competitive every year. Why because they have
a structure. Now do they need to worry about their
medical training staff and figure out what the hell's going
on there? Yes, yes they do. But you have consistency
and opportunity.

With the Jets.

They handed over the reins and they've done this multiple
times where it's like, all right, let's do this hopscotch approach.
And last year before the season, what do they do
Aaron Rodgers to come to the Jets and we'll give
you anything you want.

And what did he do? Totally submarined everything Joe Douglas
was trying to do because now he had to acquiesce
because Wood he gave him all the power. I'm just pig.
I'm just picturing an ego Montoya from The Princess Bride.
Offer me power, Offer me everything I want. Yes, all

want my father back, you son of a bike. Oh

As much as they were as a unit ranked highly,
you could run on the Jets defense. What did Pittsburgh

We'll get deeper into the Russell Wilson phenomenon, but stretch
the field a little bit. Garrett Wilson with one of
the most unfortunate plays you'll ever see. I was surprised

he wasn't put on a bus do well.

The thing is, you see what people don't see about
that play. As you see the play that looks but
the ball gets tipped and he's got his hands where
the ball is gonna be, and the ball gets tipped
by the dB so it deflex and hits him in
the shoulder pad. Now you're still gotta make that catch
because it comes pretty clean. It's not like he had
He was where it was supposed to be, so it's
not like there wasn't anything in front of where the
ball got. The ball got deflected a little bit now
I still got to catch it. But it's not like that. Hey,

it was right here and I dropped that.

that was just insane. But but all all it is
to say is like what you described for the Jets
is virtually every team an organization in professional sports. It's
just you're in New York, so it gets magnified.

I don't know about that. All the money they spend
and to be an absolute train wreck. I mean, it's
it's different when you brought in Rogers, and Rogers is
such a big deal, and here he is all look
at me, look at me, look at me, and look
what happened. Right, but still look at me, look at me.
Look how great we're going to be because that's what
the Jets. The Jets give you hope, and that's the

worst thing. Right, What did I tell you last day?
What getting Devontae Adams was great, but it was terrible
because the Jets give you up. There's other teams that
don't unamily, but they don't give you any hope. You
know that team is run badly. You know you're not
gonna win.

run well, they don't give you hope. The Jets coming
in every year ago, hey, this might be doing but

to get it done.

yans in the media every year. If there weren't Jets
fans in the media, they'd just be another scrub team.

No, I don't know that that's I think because there's
a lot of Jets fans, there's an anti Jets nest
and they're more excited jump up and down on the
Jets because of it. I don't think there's that. I
don't know there's any editor. They're just they're just oh,
you know what kids doing just talking about the Jets. Sorry,
the Jets are a big story. Aaron Rodgers has been
a big story front. No, I don't like it, just
like people don't like talking about anybody who's been around
for so long. I don't want to talk about this

I question of whether you can't I can't say anything
if the discourse changes. In this case, it's he's in charge.
He's forced them into bad decisions, and now they're trying

we've seen that before. It's different when you see someone
rooting for, you know, their own player and their own

When someone gets hurt, no matter what, that's a hard thing.
These guys all put their body, you know, to a man,
they put their bodies on the line and put them
through unbelievable punishment. No is Deshaun Watson a good guy. No,

I understand it, but I don't condone it kind of
situation right because these guys go out there every week
to put their bodies on the line.

All of them should have been holding cards like they

You're gonna build in for your draft picks. So you're
gonna get a quarterback. So it's going to work out
for all of the kids. Let's get rid of the draft. Okay,
it's over now, all this talk, all this conversation about
Deshaun Watson, is he gonna play? Is he not in
the money? And how much are they gonna do? What
do we tell you all along? They'll figure it out
in the off season. They'll tank this year and then

they're gonna get a quarterback and then they're gonna move on.
And you can't tell me the money can be figured out,
even as much as it is here, But now you
take the money out of the equation, because that's how

one thing I need to do at this point, because

one pick with the Browns, is I got to show
that I'm stable. We are a stable organization and you

your next few months is just public relations to say, look,

unfortunate situation. But you come in and we are moving ahead. Well,

going for the Browns. And all the money that Deshaun
Watson has, it's really not going to be about is
Deshaun Watson. It's going to be is he still on
the team? Are they still paying him? How much are
they still paying It's just going to be about where
his status is with the team as far as his salary,
because in the next two when the draft comes, I mean,
people realize that Deshaun Watson era is over now and
it's going to be somebody new, someone else that's in

college right now they're gonna get in the draft.

No, it should be, but now you begin the rehab process,
and we've talked about the money and and Haslm's just
a different guy, right.

gonna win, right in the eleventh hour, bad things were

the teammates sticking up for Deshaun Watson, he's your guy.

And even in Miles Garrett, he planted a line that
I think a lot of people missed, talking about being
a model citizen and whatever he said, most of the pros,
you know, I recognizing no, no, no, not always, so you know,
make sure you parse out all my words. But all
of that, they see a team maker down. And remember
a lot of Cleveland fans were okay with it as

long as Deshaun Watson was potentially gonna help them win,
and when it went bad, they cut him loose. So
that was part of the angst that goes down there.
But yeah, to your point, you've now got to sell stability.
You had the coach of the year, obviously, you had
a grown up at quarterback in Joe Flacco that needed
to leave because Haslam didn't want anything else around Deshaun

Watson and Stefanski knew that wasn't gonna be good for
the locker room. All of that to say, now you've
got to try to reconstruct that.

gonna get in the end zone right when you're gifting

Adams though, yeah, it was great play by dat tell
you what. He was no slouch trying to just to
at least have to run a play that was great

that badly with Justin Fields at quarterback. So I need
to see more from Russell Wilson before I could say, Okay,

But how can I tell you the story of my
emotions and the Mets and the Jets, two of the
biggest stories the last twenty four hours. I can tell
you and and I can do it by comparing the
two teams. When the Mets lost yesterday, it was a tough.
You know, being out there for Game six was so
much fun, even jeapam, even even the fact that people

throwing gum at me and my daughter just because for
whatever reason not happy about it. But whatever, because I'm
not someone's going to go antagonize people. I'm just gonna
cheer for my team. But you know it happens sometimes
some is antagonizing. Yeah, yeah, but I'll lead. Yeah, I'm
sure you were insufferable for about fifteen minutes. Oh oh,
that was exciting. That was that was exciting. But the
guys around you probably there were more. The thing is,

I sat next to a Mets fan the game two
when I went, because I got both ends of the
Sean and I experience. You know, I got Game two
then I had Game six, I sat next to a
Mets fan. But I would say yesterday at Chavez Ravine
Game two, it was probably a quarter Mets fans, Like
that's how many Mets fans or I would say twenty
twenty five percent.

Why the media folks who suddenly decided to tell you
they were Mets fans.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yesterday maybe about five percent Mets fans. So yeah, but
much much more, much different yesterday. Uh So, I was
sitting next to a Mets fan and he did the
the Irish could buy in the eighth inning, like, hey,
we were on the top of the eighth inning. We're
chasing three. I said, yeah, we get one this inning. Yeah, okay, great.
I turned around and get on my phone for a second.
I look up and I go, where'd that guy? Where'd

that guy going? And always left? What do you mean
he left? dB traffic. I was talking to him the
whole game. He goes, Now, he just left, he just left.
We were talking the okay whatever. Well I told you
about that survey about a month ago. They say you
could add an extra year to your life if you
practiced the Irish. When you're done with your job for
the day you leave, you don't say goodbye to everybody.
I'm done. What party? You leave, you go to church,

you just leave. You've paid a lot of money for
those tickets. You just gonna leave. There's two more innings left, Okay,
suffer through the end of it. Man. No, And we
stayed because I wanted to. I said, Zoe went, wait,

electricity in the ballpark, different from any game she'd ever
been through. When I said, wait, do you see what

the place goes crazy and the lights and the fans

and everybody jumping around on the field and you know.
And I walked away and I said, you know what,
we lost, right, we lost? But I felt great because
what did I tell you a couple of weeks ago?
And I don't I'm I'm not going to play though
we were supposed to be here. Cart No. I feel
great that that the Mets are now at the beginning
of what should be a run of some kind of
dominance for the next few years, because they have the

three biggest things right, ownership, general, manager, President of Baseball
Operations David Searns, and manager. They're the three biggest things
you need to create sustained success. Stars don't create sustained
success as much as they used to, but when you
have it, when you have a system in place. Because

have no plan, and that's why they are where there are.

said to me, what's the Jets identity, I would say,
it's just a bunch of guys together. It's a bunch
of talented guys that really they're trying to win games.
There's no we are a passing team for we are this,
we are there. I can't say that. I can't. They
can't even stop the run, right, So they can't even that.
And it always was a big thing that they couldn't
stop the run before, but now they really can't stop it.
And now when Rogers makes a couple of mistakes, it

gets compounded. The Jets just they have no They have
no forward thrust, and you want to go from the top.
They have a bad owner in Woody Johnson, who really
doesn't know. He's never been able to push the right buttons.
He's always been someone who whatever the decision is, and
I get that he wants to be aggressive, he wants
to win. He just always makes a decision that backfires.
You have a general manager who's brought some talent in,

but is there any cohesion? Is there any? Is there any?
Is there any? Hey? This is ours this is our
program that we have going on here. No, And you
brought in the head coach who was supposed to be
that guy, but now you fired him, just like you
fired all the other head coaches. The Jets have no
c the top three ownership, general manager, and head coach.
Now they're trying to make it work. Maybe Jeff Elbrick
is a good head coach. I don't know. But you

see now, you see I see the difference between my
two teams. Where the Mets he they made it to
the NLCS. It was it was a season that surprised
a lot of people. And there they are and that
was great and they are set up for success in
the future, right, all one hundred and sixty million dollars
coming off their books at the end of this year.
They're gonna be able to go out and get free agent.
It's gonna be it's gonna be even better team next year.
Where the Jets are just, hey, if we take this

piece from here and put it here, will this work?
Can we take this piece out of it? It's like

it can build a bill and eventually it's gonna fall.
That's the Jet. That's the difference between these two teams.

no problem with that. But I watch Jets and I
go They are just every week trying to pick it
up on the fly. And that's the way this organization
has been now going on forty some odd years. So

Pick your sport right. There's only a handful that you

Series and they're competitive every year. Why because they have
a structure. Now do they need to worry about their
medical training staff and figure out what the hell's going
on there? Yes, yes they do. But you have consistency
and opportunity.

the money? And how much are they gonna do? What
do we tell you all along? They'll figure it out
in the off season. They'll tank this year and then

And you can't tell me the money can be figured out,

take the money out of the equation, because that's how

one thing I need to do at this point, because

his status is with the team as far as his salary,

people realize that Deshaun Watson era is over now and
it's going to be somebody new, someone else that's in

college right now they're gonna get in the draft.

and we've talked about the money and and Haslm's just
a different guy, right.

gonna win, right in the eleventh hour, bad things were

the teammates sticking up for Deshaun Watson, he's your guy.

And even in Miles Garrett, he planted a line that
I think a lot of people missed, talking about being
a model citizen and whatever he said, most of the pros,

make sure you parse out all my words. But all
of that, they see a team maker down. And remember
a lot of Cleveland fans were okay with it as

long as Deshaun Watson was potentially gonna help them win,
and when it went bad, they cut him loose. So
that was part of the angst that goes down there.
But yeah, to your point, you've now got to sell stability.
You had the coach of the year, obviously, you had
a grown up at quarterback in Joe Flacco that needed
to leave because Haslam didn't want anything else around Deshaun

Watson and Stefanski knew that wasn't gonna be good for
the locker room. All of that to say, now you've
got to try to reconstruct that.

So you realize when they started at the Soccer stadium,
it was twenty five thousand seats, so they doubled the
prices so Charger fans and mass would sell off tickets
when say, the Steelers were in town because it could
help them.

But it's so appacently it's less money to go to
Arizona and see a game.

you know, and it pains me when I hear the
promos running on the network about my thoughts of what
what could possibly the Steelers offense have going on with
Russell Wilson on Sunday night against the Jets. Okay, Russell
Wilson was okay on Sunday, all right, he was okay?
Is he great? No? The best thing I can say,

and this is and this is a positive thing because
it's still Justin Fields is better quarterback, but I get it.
The best thing I can say is that he finished
drives on short fields, which is what Justin Fields and
the and the Sealers have trouble doing finishing drives Now.
Of course, when you're gifted the ball, the one you're
gonna get in the end zone right when you're gifting
the ball the thirty yard line. It was by DeVante

Adams though, yeah, it was great play by dat tell
you what. He was no slouch trying to just to
at least have to run a play that was great
and one player in the end zone. Uh, he tried.
It's another thing when you when you get a block
kick and you have a short field. He finished drives
on short fields and and and that's something that's a
big deal. Getting in the end zone and not kicking

field goals. That's a thing. But it's not like Russell
Wilson came in and sliced and diced up the Jets.

sure that the Steelers would have still beat the Jets
that badly with Justin Fields at quarterback. So I need
to see more from Russell Wilson before I could say, Okay,

But what I'm gonna say is, okay, that was great.
They won. Now let's see him do it again. Let's
see him do it again and see when he's not
gifted the ball. They're not starting on the average of
the Jets fifteen yard line. If he's going to be great,
let's see him do that.

I would say this, they watching this one from pillar
to post, and you heard the boo birds were out
in full force, right, So he was certainly wearing it early,
some worm burners and some bad throws. But what he
did do, and part of it was George pick was
re engaged. Whether it was reading social media of people
tearing him apart for the last week, the fact that

he let the cat out of the bag probably got
him an ass chewing from Mike Tomlin and company as
well related to Russ starting, even though we were all
assuming that was going to be the case, but you
got some efforts from him, and as much as they
did everything to bow down to Russ about the deep ball,
that is one thing that justin Fields throws a lot

of balls on a line drive.

Russ put the ball up and let his guys go
make plays. So that is one thing that one big
difference to where they could go win one on one matchups.
And then he got credit for a couple of balls
that I think you or I could have made the
throw where I was standing by himself doing jumping jacks.
