We are headed to quarter number four in Boston. These
Celtics a commanding thirteen point lead to over Indiana going to.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
The fourth quarter. They pulled away.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Pacers got this to a two point game at sixty eight.
Sixty six looked a lot like Game one, and then
the Celtics go on a huge run. Jalen Brown now
has thirty three going to the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, kind
of pedestrian games for everybody else, but still Jalen Brown
with thirty three. They've been making their threes at an
okay clip, and now it's a thirteen point lead. The
(01:28):
main thing to look at here, and this is that
through the first two games for the Pacers, you have
seen there is one player that has given the Celtics
a lot of problems, and this is because they hadn't
played against him before the trade deadline. The Celtics play
again game one against Pascal Siakam. He's terrific. Except for
those horrible mistakes at the end the costs of the game,
he was great.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
He was better.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Those were kind of a big deal. It was great,
you know, except for those two very large things. Yes,
outside of that, he was really good. And tonight he's
picked up where he left off. He's got twenty six
on twelve out of sixteen shooting. Everybody else on the
Pacers has been kept down in this Boston has adjusted. Look,
and this is why when we picked the game last night,
I said, I like Boston by double digits in game two,
(02:11):
and we still have to go, so a long way
to go. So I'm right in the edge of the
envelope and still the fourth quarter ago. But this is
why I like Boston going into Game two. Their defense,
it's not quite the t Wolves defense, but it is
a phenomenal defense. And they get the first game against Indiana,
and sometimes we look at the wrong things when it
comes to a team. Wow, Indiana's got to feel great
(02:34):
about themselves. They blew it down the stretch and they
almost took Game one in Boston. They gotta feel great
about themselves. You're nervous about Boston. I go the other way.
That's a game Indiana shouldn't want. How many times is
Boston gonna play like that and offer that out there
over the course of this series, because Boston is still
a terrific team. It's like people think, oh, they like,
all of a sudden, Boston forgets how to play, and
(02:54):
then no, that's the game you have to have if
you're gonna make this a series. So yes, you feel growy,
yeah yeah, but all of a sudden you look in
a game to it, Well, we just lost by twenty.
We lost by it. It's the same thing we saw
last year with the Lakers and the and the Nuggets. Hey, well,
the Lakers got to feel great. It almost took game one. Yeah,
but they're still down. And how many more games do
you think they're gonna be able to take from the Nuggets? Like,
(03:15):
how many times do you think the Pacers are gonna Hey,
we're totally overmatched against them. No, the Celtics are a
huge favorite for a reason. That's a game they had
to have. I expected Boston to come out and play better,
especially defensively here in game two and so far they have.
Spurtability is what we've seen in this You love that
word to show up elsewhere. It's your word, realized it
(03:36):
always does?
Speaker 3 (03:37):
You sure that's your word?
Speaker 1 (03:38):
If I go back, if I go back on social media,
well I find somebody else said spurt ability and you
kind of just kind of co opted it. No, I
don't think so, okay, And if you, if you can,
good good for you, because I think if you did
actually make it up a couple of years, you would
have a T shirt made up that said spurtability. I
haven't had time. I'm a bit behind in my production.
You want to make T shirts all the time, Yeah,
(03:58):
we haven't. We haven't done that in a while. It's
been busy. But but that's like your thing.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
But you're you're the You're the you're the MAGA teacher.
You're you're the let's say something, make a tea shirt.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Think we could sell it. I mean, we've got to
build out the infrastructure by which to be able to
really capitalize on the creativity of the show. Listen, but this,
this is what I rely on you for because much
like a movie like Social Network or something where hey,
here's the idea is, then there's a music montage and
all that hard work is encapsulated into like three minutes
of I and the Tiger, and then boom, we have
(04:30):
this huge industry like like you're the music montage.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Like that's where I expect.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Okay, idea, I do everything music montage, and then.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
We have it and then everybody's rich, Like that's what
I expect.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
You do everything. Okay, I get that. Yeah, no, it
makes sense. But yeah, So you had the twenty nothing run,
then you had Indiana with a couple of separate eight
oh runs, and then the end of the third quarter
starts to get away again. For those that back Jalen Brown,
he was twenty four and a half was over under
for the night Celtics minus eight and a half. Sam
(05:00):
has been fantastic, but a lot of standing around from
the rest of the squad, as we saw a lot
in Game one. And when you have the opportunity, despite
turning the ball over twenty two times, all of those
things for game one, you've got to close it out
because you know the Celtics, their history the last couple
of years under Missoula is they're going to give you
a chance at home to come and get them once
(05:23):
and you had them, You had them on the ropes.
You know, we talked about it yesterday from the game
in the odds right it was seven and a half
to one, that'll be able to come back and get it.
And guess what they came back and got you. You
gave them every opportunity, every bad decision, every coaching blip,
every every possibility for Boston to come and escape with
(05:44):
that game. So they took it away from him. You're
not going to get that again, and you're you're seeing
it play out time and again up and down the court.
Jalen Brown is willing them. The rest of the Celtics,
as you said, not been a dominant game. They're not
living at the the free throw line. It's only ten
to thirteen to this point. So it's not like you know,
(06:04):
that home court advantage that you would expect in that
has suddenly reared its head. Turnovers are fairly evening the
evening in this evening's game. So like all the way through,
it comes back to Drew Holliday versus Pascal Siakam time
and time a game. We might as well just play
one on one, play one on one. So that's where
(06:28):
we are right now, nine minutes to go in the
fourth quarter. It is a now seventeen point lead for
the Celtics over the Pacers, ninety nine to eighty two.
And uh, look, it's it's it's a different series than
the nixt series because still, if you're the Pacers were
going home down toos that we don't like the calls,
we know we can outlast them, it's gonna be a
much different feeling going home down two zip against the
(06:50):
Celtics when you realize, oh man, we gave the one
game we had to have away. Well, there's a reason
they ran away with the Eastern Conference by double digits.
Yeah right, I mean your knicks chasing down by fourteen games.
There's a reason why that happened. Right, and as good
as the Pacers have been, and certainly from a scoring
perspective that you've seen the wide open offense, you know
(07:11):
what Boston can get after it. Defensively, They've got a
lot of veteran players who have been through this, right,
They've been to the Eastern Conference finals several times. You've
got guys like Al Horford, he's into double digit in
his rebounding. The craftiness of the veteran players, and again,
Holliday has been fantastic because Halliburton's been just a guy
(07:32):
in the first two games, right, a couple of little stretches,
but overall he's been contained. And certainly last game we
saw it when Holiday was on him, a couple of turnovers,
didn't hit a shot tonight, not really even looked for
the shot. Played twenty eight minutes, he's he's four of
eight from the field, two of six from three. He's
got eight assists. That's great. Ten and eight is it
(07:52):
what's gonna get you?
Speaker 3 (07:53):
How many times have you seen him?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Have I seen him on offensive sets where he's not
even on screen, no, right, and the Pacers setting up
and I'm like, where is Halliburton? And they diss it?
To him and he's ten feet behind the three point line.
But that's just it. They're spreading out beyond beyond the line,
and it's like, all right, Siakam's working down low. It's
like a lot of iso for Pascal Siakim to just
do his thing and maybe kick back out to somebody else.
(08:16):
I'm curious about the offensive decisions here for the Pacers.
All right, So we'll lo have more on this game
coming up again. A fifteen point lead for the Celtics,
eight and a half to go with this the other
big game right now, Western Conference Finals in the Stanley
Cup playoff. Edmonton leads Dallas two to one late in
the second period. But what do you think of this idea?
Hit me? This might be the greatest thing that we
(08:38):
could possibly see on television in sports for the next
few weeks. Okay, okay, this is a great idea. This
is a great idea. Right, talk about idea that ad
the montage? Make it happen, I'm afraid and we already
have it kind of set up, right, Isn't isn't Jerry
Jones having some kind of show.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
That follows him?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Right?
Speaker 2 (08:57):
All right? Right? Rock series?
Speaker 1 (09:00):
So here's what we need, we need to take that
the cameras fight. I said, Okay, we're changing the show.
What are we changing? Because here's the show? Okay, what
is it? The Texas Rangers won the World Series. Okay,
so Rangers win the World Series in October? Right right now,
Dallas Stars are in the Western Conference Final. Good, go
to the Stanley Cup Final and win a championship. The
(09:22):
Dallas Mavericks are up one zip in the Western Conference
Finals in the NBA. They could go to the NBA
Finals and win it all. What if we follow Jerry
Jones around and just observed him while he watches every
single Dallas area team win a championship except for the Cowboys.
(09:42):
In every major sport they win. They win in baseball,
they win in hockey, they win in basketball. But the
Cowboys can't win. Like what what would it be like?
What would it be like every day? Like would he
wake up every because you know he's probably not up
this late? Like would he wake up every day? Though?
I really hope to O team can take care of
the Hall Stars won that one, all right? Well, look
(10:02):
at let's see in beat Oh that that Luca guy, boy,
he's pretty good. Oh man, they won that game. I
didn't think they'd Man, we could have three championships and
you know baseball and basketball and hockey and oh boy,
oh will boy, this is out and out of like this.
Turn those cameras off. I mean, I really, I really
want to see that where he starts out, yes and
you fight. He's yeah, and he's getting he's walking down
(10:24):
the streets. She's somebody in Edmonton. Oiler's hat going yeah,
go oil. I remember Yarri Curry, right Noll? Yeah, Messio
is great. Paul Coffee, I'll tell you remember when you
put that memory pulcohol. Paul Coffee is fantastic. All those
great series against Calgary Flames back in the late ages,
Yeah that's good. Hey Texas Rangers, you guys are great.
Sparky Lyle, Jeff Burrows, all the great teams they were.
I'll tell you what, it's out outstanding, outstanding. Hey Dallas Mavericks, Yeah,
(10:47):
you won with Dirk. You had some great teams you
had to Oh you had some phenomenal player. Jason Kidds
great And then they turned the camera off and he go,
he's the son of you out you guys. I can't,
I can't, I can't. I can't do this. I can't
do this, man. I can't wake up every day and
watch another Dallas team get this close to a championship
and potentially win and it's not the Dallas Cowboys. Well,
I mean, what are we at ten thousand in change
(11:11):
days since they last played it in an NFC championship game?
Speaker 4 (11:14):
M hm.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
And we've seen those graphics on Twitter watch and that
it showed up on the four letter and whatever, and
everybody realized, oh wow, that's a lot of success for
everything else in Dallas. But yeah, that docu series watching
him start where it starts to turn, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
At first it's he representing our He's very such show
not a threat. Right now, all of a sudden you
(11:37):
just see it in this chair. He's like he's like,
he's like Macbeth. The closer the army gets the dunsonate.
What do you mean Burnham would is out on stan Burnam?
I mean I was alive. I was around when Shakespeare
wrote that play, and I said, I don't know about that.
Is that kind of time travel you have going on
with the with the people in the beginning can predict
the future? Man? That sounds like a great movie. But
let's leave that to the Spielberg fellow. They already have
(12:00):
a movie in process that will come out in like
three years. Or I could play Macbeth. I could be
that guy. I mean I could be that guy. Well,
I mean he's been fairly indecisive in some of the
contract movements. And Steven would be bank Quo, that's for sure,
that's a hundred percent that's who that would be. And
then who didn't want to be Banquo? Who's the guy
that says that little Lord faunt Leroy. Who's the guy
(12:21):
that shows up and uh and winds up killing him
at the end? Who is that?
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Who's who's that guy?
Speaker 1 (12:25):
I doubt you gotta help me out because there's Macbeth
and there's McDuff, right, is that is that the guy
from the Simpsons is a duff man shows up at
the end. That would be a nice tie in. Who
wants to party down? He kills him and then that's it.
So they all hide and they pretend they're trees and
nobody understands. I mean, really no, you can't see that
it's really a guy in a tree costume.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
I don't understand that. How do you think it's it
doesn't look like a tree.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Well, if they do it properly, then you get the
effect like the Wizard of Oz, where it really is
the tree. See now, I want Jerry Jones to teach
high school English and teach Shakespeare. Play now, that is
a show. That is a show. I'd rather watch that
that Hard Knocks or whatever's been proposed for Jerry Jones
in this instant.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
We signed them back in two thousand and four and
two thousand and nine, I think, and then didn't lock
them so send them on away with a piece of paper.
Wherever they showed up, I think they got killed. I
don't know what Jerry Jones developing and play with Tom Stoppard.
I gotta get it out. No, no, I know that
happened there. And then uh, you know, Ophelia jumps in
the water. It's like, get out, jump out of the way.
(13:30):
It's not that it's not that not that deep, you know,
not that deep. You could jump right out of the water.
Don't understand. That made no sense to me. I really
wanted to see.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Don't ask about Midsummer Night's Dream. Couldn't follow any.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Of ya Wow, you want to talk about a fever
dream with Jerry Jones A Midsummer Night's dream? Are you
kidding me? You think about the creative directions you could
go with that play with that guy in charge. Hey,
I am bringing I am bringing Romo and two yet
to Broadway. I don't know if you know that or not.
That's gonna be a very big show. So Romo's gotta
(14:05):
replace Tom Holle. Yes, Romo on Broadway. Hopefully you can.
He's gonna replace the Spider Man. Hopefully you can intercept
tickets to this one and get to go see it
on Broadway. When I get Romo and Juliet out there.
Uh yeah, and I really want to see that. Now,
all of a sudden, I've gone from Jerry Joe's not
teaching high school English to everybody that's good. I open
up your books the page forty seven, and who wants
(14:27):
to read? Who wants to b McBeth? Okay, you be macbeth. Uh,
you can be McDuff. You can be the ghost of Polonius. Sorry,
that's great, all right, that's we're not writing any essays.
It's all spoken word. Every week. You gotta come in
with your own monologue. But I will give you a
random Cowboys game. You have to die set or a
Cowboys player to be named from this stack of trading
(14:50):
cards that we have and guys that have previously appeared
on Jerry books. Oh man, But all right, But to
get back to the like, how great would that be
just a followed jar while all these other Dallas area
teams are on the cusp of winning a title. I
mean that he was just it would almost be like
following Michael Scott around. You might get that kind of comedy.
(15:11):
But we got to get all the owners of the
other teams involved as well. Sure, so what are you doing?
Follow his best practice?
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Sit, you'll get Bob Kraft.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
He can beat Bob Vance from Vance Refrigeration, and uh,
he can come in be that guy. Okay, we get
some other people in, we get the we get the guy,
we got the up. I got some who could be
jan uh, and I get somebody else who could be
the other guy that came in near the end. I
don't know what he was all about, Dan figureauts. All right,
it says here that we're playing park course. Stephen. You
gotta go try to jump onto that refrigeration box, right, there.
(15:42):
It's Hey, just so you know, it's threat level midnight
here for the Cowboys this season. We gotta get go.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Yeah, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon live from the Ti rag dot
com studios. Uh, we'll get to that quarterback controversy out
of the NFL in a second. But four and a
half minutes to go. Here in the fourth quarter, the
Celtics with a commanding one thirteen to ninety seven lead
(18:49):
over the Pacers, who are navigating the final eight or
so minutes down the stretch here without Tyrese Haliburton, who
has left the game with left legs. Again, the buye
for the Celtics into the NBA Finals continue. No, Jimmy Butler, okay,
that's great. No, no, uh, Donovan Mitchell, Okay, that's great.
(19:09):
Now Tarry's Halliburton's out and of the end of the
game too, that buye for the Celtics and the easiest
path possible continues. Yeah, kind of the curiosity though, in
terms of the play on which he left the court. Yes,
kind of gets bumped into by Jalen Brown who's on
the drive, and then dishes back and kind of kind
of limps off the court.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
He kind of just comes right off the court, right
off the court.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
So it's like, what was he playing through? What's be
curious to see what the diagnosis is as we go forward. Well, watching,
you know, watching this game, you feel like the Celtics
knew it because they kept going at him. They continue
to go at him defensively and he just doesn't have
the movement, you could see, like he just doesn't have
the movement to be able to stick around on d
you know, unlike Luca who limps and yet somehow finds
(19:52):
a way to get everything done. Like you could tell,
Halliburton was really struggling with how am I moving? Especially defensively,
So every time the Celtic out the ball, we are
going right at Haliburt and when he limped off the floor,
it's it looked to me like it was a hey,
you know what I can't do. I'm I am, I
am hurting us out here. I can't do it. Let's
go out and figure something else out. So that that's
(20:13):
a huge thing for them. Obviously you're missing your your
point guard, who did not have a great game anyway.
But now if you're looking to be without Haliburton after this,
like what do you what do you have left?
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Really? I mean, what what do you have left now?
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Now?
Speaker 3 (20:25):
True, Holliday can say, Okay, where do you mean now?
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Where did he me?
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Coach?
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Hey, Mozilla, who do you want me to help out
on Siaka? What do you want me to do?
Speaker 3 (20:32):
What do you mean I could be there for you?
Speaker 1 (20:34):
What do you want to remember about a week ago
we were talking about the Celtics path and we put
you down the yellow brick road. Now, folks, you're doing it,
but you can see, you can see where you're about
to meet the wizard, cause I mean you are further
down that road with one more injury. Just an absolute,
absolutely disastrous occurrence here now for Indiana trying to climb
(20:58):
way back in and and a guy and Burton getting
a lot of run, and we've talked about him a
lot individually as related to the previous rounds opponent and
Jalen Brunson and point guards and where we're at in
the NBA and everything else. So just an absolutely huge
loss here, fourteen point game, three fifteen remaining and Boston
(21:18):
with the one to zero series lead. So again we'll
keep you up here. It's a fourteen keep you updated here.
It's a fourteen point lead with three and a half
left to go. And look, I mean we talked about
a couple of weeks ago there's no kind of path
like the Celtics path, and here it is. It's actually
but every year we're seeing the same thing now, right,
And this is a talking point. We've had multiple NBA
(21:40):
postseasons about the war of attrition, a lot of the
consternation about changing the rules for sixty five games for
awards and all nbas Yesterday was Christmas Day as everybody
started to see how much money they're going to be
able to make off of being on one of those
all NBA squads. But the same thing about taxing the
(22:01):
body and the riggers of getting through an eighty two
game schedule and through what is a three month extended postseason,
even with days off, even with days of rests and
everything else. That and superior training and superior recovery whatever,
we're just seeing guys fall to the wayside time and
(22:22):
time again. And some of the pathways go back to
Denver's last year, where you know, history probably won't be
terribly kind to them because they're gonna have a bunch
of pictures of all stars that were missing in action
for those runs.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Oh, sure, of course.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
But look, also, you have to understand, if you're the
Western Conference team coming out, you got to think, Okay,
we're gonna be without our star for the finals because
every other team has been so far. You're getting Lucas.
Sorry you're out for the finals, But I feel good. Nope,
everybody else is out. You're getting knocked out too. Now
that you're playing the Celtics, I have to let you
know you've been chosen. Anthony Edwards, Hey, sorry, man, I
(22:59):
don't want to be sorry. Mitchell Butler Halliburton, you're next.
Who's the rights to basketball? But they do have the
right Tordas movies, So in honor of that, we have
to offer you up this trip. Exit out by to Fresca,
exit swalling down the Jason Smith Show with my best
(23:20):
friend Mike Carmon. A couple of minutes left here Boston
with a fourteen point lead. Steve de Sager will have
more on this and what's trending coming up in a
few minutes, but it's gonna be a two zero lead
for the Celtics going back to Indiana. I didn't know
that we needed this quarterback controversy, but apparently we're gonna
get something like maybe people in Philadelphia are just bored
(23:40):
the Sixers being out of the playoffs, but a couple
of crazy reports on social media that potentially the Eagles
are looking at some sort of situation where they can
run Kenny Pickett into games and Jalen Hurts and him
will share the field at the same time. Other reports
Picket is playing better in OTAs. Then then then Jalen Hurts,
(24:02):
And I'm saying to myself, there's no way this stuff
is that there. There's no way, Jay, Why why is
that Jalen Hurts is how could well? Okay, first of all,
how can you can't lose your job? You can't be
being outperformed in OTAs when you're Jalen Hurts. I don't
know how that happens. But here's what you can be.
But but you can't, Okay, I.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Are you throwing lefty? I mean, come on, man.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Suddenly your accuracy is completely off and we watched the
second half collapse.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
I just can't.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
I just can't believe this. Really, I can't believe this,
mainly for one reason. There's one reason I can't believe
And it all boils down on one reason. Right, Remember again,
this is a lot of things, right, Is he outperforming
Jalen Hurts?
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Are they gonna put Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
On the field?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
All of these?
Speaker 1 (24:45):
I mean, coming off a very tough season before Hurts
for Sirianni, new coordinators, everything they had going on in Philly,
But you can boil it down to one thing. Yeah,
I could buy it. There's one thing that makes me
think this is not real, that this is just something
fabrica enough for whatever reason, because people can't believe it. No, no, no, no,
no no no.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Not that.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Maybe you stir it up a little bit something can
get a great reaction in an interview. I am going
to get more concrete than that. It's not It's not
gonna be. And you don't need to speculate anything thoughts
not no, not a Jerry Jones teaches us the great
literature of Shakespeare that we were discussing a little bit earlier.
(25:24):
I'd go back to college for that class. By the way,
a fellow, it wasn't that a game in the seventies,
had you had the black and white chips? He turned
over and tried to win. That wasn't that was all about?
And Iago wasn't Wasn't he the parrot in the in
the in the Laddin movie. Wasn't it was on the
shoulder of the guy. Wasn't that?
Speaker 3 (25:40):
What?
Speaker 2 (25:41):
All?
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Right? Boils one one.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Reason why I can't believe this. There's one reason why
I can't believe it.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
If we ask our guys if they can guess the reason. Yeah,
you guys want to guess what the one thing is
why I can't believe that Kenny Pickett is a outperforming
Jalen Hurts a training camp or B. They're actually looking
at you get Kenny Pickett on the field with Jalen
Hurts at the same time. There's one, very concrete, one
reason you don't have to what's the reason you think
(26:08):
it is? Don't overthink it.
Speaker 7 (26:10):
I have to say it's because you don't have a
jersey of him.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
M I don't have a jersey a lot of people,
but okay, that's that's probably the most prominence. Okay.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
And also you probably have money on it. Okay, money
does make decisions, Am I wrong?
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Mind? There's no question about it. It's like indecision clouds
your vision, like faith. No more saying all those years ago,
Oh it's pretty good. I was gonna say, should bet
on the T shirt? But it's already yeah, it's falling
to pieces of faith no more?
Speaker 3 (26:34):
All right, Ian I R what do you got?
Speaker 1 (26:35):
What what do you think? What could the reason be? Want
to say, maybe because he never played for the Jets?
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (26:40):
All right? Well, I mean again, I mean they're they're
thinking about it a little harder. Yeah. Now, now let's
go to the principles involved. Jalen Hurts Kenny pick can
how would you describe the play of Kenny Pickett last year?
If you were to boil it down to the basis term,
you could possibly come up with bad. Well, you're on
(27:02):
the right hand, right track. You're on the right track,
because say it. The correct answer is. Why I can't
believe any of this is because can he Picket stinks.
This is why I can't believe it. He stinks. There's
a reason why the Steelers wouldn't keep him. There's a
reason why he's a backup. And if you're the Eagles
and you want to put him on the field, you're insane.
(27:23):
That's why I can't believe. Because he's maybe getting away
from the ineptitude of the offensive coordinators that have been
employed in Pittsburgh. Freeze, can he pick it up? No? No, no, no, no,
a wizzy no no.
Speaker 7 (27:41):
See Jason, Maybe he just liked his eggs a certain
way and the chef wasn't a fan. Uh could be
a very picky guy.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
No, my uncle used to Okay, if you went out
with him, like that would be the number one thing
he would complain about, can't even get my bleep and
he bleeping eggs the way I want him, and he'd
be salty. He'd start cursing out the weightstat it was problem. Yeah,
My dad's kind of like that, like when you got
to dinner with him, like there's always something it's like, oh,
this is and the biggest, the biggest uh bit of
(28:09):
of of praise he could have. Dad, How was your food?
I wasn't bad. That means it's like one of the
greatest things you ever taste in your life.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
It wasn't bad.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
He likes Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Yeah, better than he liked Latrobe.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Wasn't bad.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Uh no, no Latrobe. Latrob is Rolling Rock. Well it's St.
Vincent College do their training camp. No, no, I mean but
rolling the Rolling Rock is thirty three? Yeah yeah, no, no, No.
This boils down to Kenny Pickett stinks. Well maybe maybe
Jalen Hurts had that one years now. All of a sudden,
they're popping champagne right now, going, hey, Hurts something the
(28:47):
NFC East if you were described describe those squads, and
we boiled it down to one thing. Yeah, Ian, you
want to take another crack of this. What do you
think about the teams in the NFC East Bad? Very good, Ian,
very good. No man is consistent but not stealing my
catch right now?
Speaker 3 (29:07):
They stink. Can you imagine just talked.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
About Jerry and the Cowboys and you got the giants
trying to figure out, I mean they're selling me. Daniel
Jones is on the field. Can you imagine that just
off that wheels. Can you imagine like week two, Daniel
Jones versus Kenny Pickett. Let's go, what are we doing?
What are we doing here? Celebrate all to seventy two week?
That would be one of them, that would be that
would be might be seventy two, No, no sixties down there,
(29:34):
at least the two fifties. If you're ranking one through
two seventy two, that's a two sixties. That's another chore
we've taken on. Guys. Yeah, we're gonna start printing out
the sheets ranking one through two seventy two. I like
that idea. I like that idea.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
We gotta do that.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
But legitimately, I mean you're looking at Jalen Hurts. There
were a lot of people jumping off that bandwagon pretty fast.
The end of last year. You had the infighting with
aj Brown, you had all of that going on. The coordinators,
clearly they acclimated well in the first half, and then
it fell apart. The only thing that saved them from
(30:07):
national ridicule was how bad things got down in Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Okay, I'm with you on that. I'm with you on that.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
However, However, if you're gonna push Jalen Hurts to the side,
bring in somebody who what doesn't stink. That's what you
need to do.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
You gotta bring in somebody who's actually good.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
But maybe he can't. Bring somebody ex Steeler now good.
That's not a phrase. If he was on the Jets
and then went somewhere, it would be ex Jet now good.
Maybe he maybe he can be that.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
No he can't. I've watched him. I've watched him. I've
watched him.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
Cleared his mind. He went and saw what was what
was the doctor's name that fixed Danny Rojas after he
killed that.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Dog, Oh doctor Fieldstone.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Yeah, sure, maybe he saw someone equivalent to her and
now football is life. No he no, no, no, he's no,
he stinks.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
He he stinks.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
If the power of the Steelers fans who tried to
prop him up, if they could have powers of karma
going into Kenny Pickett, if that didn't make him good,
nothing's good. He stinks.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
He's not good. He's not good.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
And if this they want to putting him on the field,
I'll tell you everybody else is gonna have a party going.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Oh man, look at this. Look forget about Jalen Hurts
his fall from grace.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
For a second. You decided we're gonna put Kenny Pickett
out there versus Drunker Eagle fans. That's That's like we're
gonna fight about this. We're gonna fight about Pickett versus
anybody you want to fight about. This is gonna crossroads
with Pats and and whoever wins. Whoever wins gets a
free copy of season one, Maror of Eastown, that's what'll
(31:41):
do that.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
It's on the line for this time.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Wins was really good.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
See what they're gonna make Mayor of Eastown season two?
Speaker 1 (31:46):
I think they should. They were gonna have a crossover
with Mayor of Eastown and Mayor of Kingstown. It's gonna
be great. Him and Jeremy rent He and Jeremy Renderd
it's gonna be fantastic Hawky. Yes, he's gonna be Hawkeye,
and he's got to be hawk. I thought he would
be hawkeyed. You know, I'm really glad to see him
back on this. I thought he was interviews and stuff. Again.
I thought he was an archer mayor. I thought that's
a pretty cool thing. Just how about that for a
show mayor who's also an archer fighting crime?
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Like, how about that?
Speaker 1 (32:09):
I'm in for that? Yeah, right, all right? What's his signature?
We got Jerry Jones arrows, Jerry Jones teaching high school
English and Jermy Renner as a as a as an
archer mayor. I mean, how great is that? When when
I can't when I when I can't legislate, I do
it myself. The proclamation suddenly appeared high on this post.
(32:31):
Here's this banner unfurled. Here's the guy's on the edge
of it, a giant era. Here's a guy running for
mayor against me, and suddenly he walks out of the
campaign stop and then sunk just gets an arrow through
the back.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
What made you think it was me? What are you
talking me? You have a quiver around the back.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
No, you're wearing a mask.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
Nobody saw me do it. You nobody saw it that
many people walk.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Around with quivers and mats just because I didn't shoot
the guy with an arrow did he's running against me
for mayor vote vote Renner.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
I did not do that. It's not me.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
It's got a flag, it says Rennor, attached to it
as I cannot. But that's why I can't believe the
Kenny Picket rooms because he's great. Though. Come on, does
that gives us some spice from the offseason? Sure, Philadelsha,
the fans up in a little bit up in arms
now and maybe take a little bit of attention from
all these guys that are suddenly jumping on the Bears band.
(33:20):
It'll be good time now to find out what's trending
in the wide world of sports. From a guy who
was definitely more Jalen Hurts than Kenny Pickett, it's Steve
de Sager.
Speaker 5 (33:29):
Thank you, okay. Spots and Celtics are up two games
to none in the NBA's East Finals after beating Indiana
tonight one twenty six to one ten Jalen Brown forty points.
Tyrese Haliburton left late in the third with a sore hamstring.
He had eight assists game threes at Indiana on Saturday night.
(33:49):
The West Finals continue tomorrow. MAVs have taken the opener.
They'll be in Minnesota again. The Cavaliers fired coach JB.
Bickerstaff after four full seasons. The Pistons are negotiating with
New Orleans general manager Trajan Langdon to become Detroit's new
head of basketball operations. Made me no deal officially on
that till next week. Reportedly, Toronto was awarded a WNBA
(34:11):
expansion franchise. It'll start playing in twenty twenty six. Connecticut
is now four and oh after its WNBA overtime win
at home tonight against Minnesota eighty three eighty two.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
The NHL's West Final.
Speaker 5 (34:23):
Opener is going on right now at Dallas Edmonton, and
the lead over the Stars two to one about eleven
minutes to go in the third. The New York Rangers,
seated number one in the East, will host Game two
of the East Final tomorrow. After Florida took the opener.
In the late ballgame at the White Sox, It's Orioles
eight three over Chicago. White Sox do have bases loaded,
no outs in the bottom of the ninth. Everything else
(34:45):
is final. Yankees won again today, shut out Seattle five nothing,
solo homers for Aaron Judge and John Carlos Stanton. Philadelphia
won its sixth straight game, five to two over Texas.
The win to Zach Wheeler, who pitched seven innings San
Francisco with five in the top of the eighth one
at Pittsburgh seven to six. San Diego in ten innings
edge Cincinnati six to four. Oakland scored five times in
(35:08):
the bottom of the eleventh to win ten to nine
over Colorado. Atlanta shut out the Cubs in Chicago three
to nine. Things Marcelo Zuna with a sackfly his forty
seventh RBI already that leads the majors. Toronto was tied
one one at Detroit after six innings nine to one.
Blue Jays the final. Charlie Hoffman as a one stroke lead.
(35:28):
At Colonial, Scottie Scheffler shot at two over seventy two
and guys. In the fall of twenty twenty five, looks
like athletic departments will begin sharing revenue with their athletes.
At least, the five power conferences in the NCAA have
now agreed to allow schools to directly pay players, and
they've agreed to start the process moving forward to settle
(35:52):
the three pending federal antitrust cases on this.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Back to you, I like how you said power five conferences,
Like in two years we're not going to be down
to one big conference with everybody in it. I'd say two,
the Power one, the Power two, the Power to one,
the Power one, Power two. Thank you, Steven. The Jason
Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon. Coming up next,
Celtics over the Pacers one twenty six one ten. Boston
is up two zip. Do the Pacers have a prayer?
(36:18):
We'll tell you next Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Celtics take Game two one twenty six to
one ten over the Pacers. They run away in the
second half. Tyrese Haliburt leaves the game with a left
leg injury in the second half, and the Celtics did
exactly what we thought they were gonna do. We talked
about it last night I expected the Celtics to win
(36:51):
by double digits, and that's exactly what happened. They put
their will on the game and the Eastern Conference Finals
are over.
Speaker 3 (36:59):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
It's much different for the Pacers going home down two
zip against the Knicks, where they were mad, but they
knew better. We're better, they're injured. We have to strategize
and we can keep this series going. The longer it goes,
the easier it gets for us. But now you're going home,
you're injured, and you just got the doors blown off
you and after a game with you said hey we
(37:21):
might have this. You gave game one away and now
you got crushed in game two. This is a much
different situation going back and now everybody remembers why the
Celtics are so good, why they won the conference by
fourteen games. This series is over. Maybe the Pacers can
get one and maybe it's hopefully it's game three to
keep it interesting a little bit, but the Celtics are
gonna go back home for Game five if there is
(37:43):
a Game five, and they're gonna close it out and
they're going to the NBA Final. No, it's just you
put yourself in a terrible spot after game one, and
you can make all the excuses you want. And Rick Carlisle,
you're a nemesis. He said all the right things. This
one's on me, not advancing the ball, whatever else, and
tried to take it away from Haliburton dribbling the ball
off his foot, all the other turnovers that were really unforced, right,
(38:06):
and the bad decision on the inbound going in that
suffice to say that was your chance to steal one,
because then this outcome, all right, fine, you one home
court advantage and you go. But now you're missing one
of your most important players who's been good in spurts
but not overall. Pascal Siakam has been fantastic, but who's
rising up to meet his production. You haven't seen that.
(38:29):
And the Celtics are just as deep as you are.
The advantage that you had in prior rounds, and certainly
in that battle of attrition with the New York Knicks
where everybody left with extra marks and read letters next
to them, right, including Jalen Bruns, and with the broken hand,
you won that one and beat them down just physically
(38:51):
last guys standing in that final game here, That's not
going to be the case because you haven't even seen
the best of the rest of this Altic players. Remember
Game one when h Jalen Brown after the game talking
about the fourth quarter when Jason Tatum woke up right,
kind of did a little side high. Hey, you know
(39:11):
he woke up and that was the difference and he
had a big fourth quarter. Tonight you have Brown goes
for forty, Derek White and some of the other guys
who have been big contributors along the way. Guess what,
they haven't had their game yet, the secondary players, and
now you're battling potentially without Haliburton going forward. No, you
had your shot.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
I've seen.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
And the thing is the Pacers playing the first two games,
I don't want to say they lack they lacked a
sense of urgency, but this was not the same team
that seemed like they were foaming at the mouth to
get at the Knicks, right. I get that something. You're
gonna lose a little bit of that. Like a big
seven game series, it's very emotional. You could come up
(39:52):
and everything else, so that that hype ship. But certain
things I watched, like I don't see TJ. McConnell with
his hair on fire like I saw him against the Necks. Right,
I don't see Halliburton say hey, I got to step
up and jump in here, right, because he was very
quiet tonight even before he got hurt went out of
the game. I just don't see the same added little
bit of spark, that little bit of juice that they
had against the Knicks. Do they feel like they already
(40:14):
got over by winning that series and advancing? You know what?
I think you know one of those things where it's like,
all right now we're playing as the phrase that you
know I hate so much in our world, the old
house money kind of thing where you're not playing with
that same level of intensity and consistency that you did
in a prior round.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
No, you know what, You know what it is?
Speaker 1 (40:34):
More, it's that teams get to a point and the
play win around in the playoffs, and they feel like, Okay,
we figured it out, all right, now, we figured out
we gotta go out next year. We figured out, not
not realizing or understanding that every round is different. And
I'm sure the Pacers figured we figured it out against
the Knicks, right we were down three two.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
We know we figured it out.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Now, we figured things out, and here come the Celtics
and it's like we're a completely different animal. Man. You
thought the Knicks were tough. You barely got You barely
got by there. We had to shoot sixty seven percent
in the Champion the in game seven to win. You
are not doing that against us. Watch what happens. You
want to give us an opening, We're gonna take it
from you because we're more talented than you are. So
I see teams and sometimes they and you see it
with the Pacers. They've been up and down this playoffs.
(41:15):
Sometimes it looks like they're not even trying. Sometimes it
don't look like they're engaged. Then Rick Carlisle says something,
or they wind up being motivated. But that's what I
think happens. The teams they hey, we figured it out,
and realize you haven't figured it out well. And now
it's a step up in class. You got again the
depth and a team that can run with you from
an offensive standpoint, not that your Knicks didn't put up
the try right between Bronson and de Vincenzo and what
(41:37):
you were getting on a nightly basis, they got multiple
guys that can run and score with you, so you're
not running them off the gym, and maybe that's the
punch in the face that you get after two games. Yeah,
it's gonna be two more games and the Celtics are
gonna say, hey, look at us in the finals.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
No Halibert, no Mitchell, no Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 1 (41:55):
Boy, this is great exit out about a Fresca exit
swollen dome coming up next. Hey, we always want to
wait for the Celtics to disappear, but how about why
the Celtics are just this good?
Speaker 3 (42:07):
That's next, Fox
