(00:52):
buying should be. Well, just like we do on Thursday
nights during the season, we jump right into the action.
I believe I have the math right here at the
have just eliminated the Pacers from playoff contention here a
week before Christmas, happy.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Hollowdean Hey, no Chanceions Championship hangover over for the Knicks here,
I mean he depleted roster.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
What a gutty performance.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Hang a banner. It was. It was Jalen Brunson and
Unobi and I think John Starks played a few minutes
off the bench. Doesn't matter. The Knicks win Brunton, it's
a big three, you heard it. Monsie's update. Then Indiana
one last chance inbounding the ball o Gianna Noby gets
the steal, goes down, uh to the other end, time
runs out. Yeah, we'll look back at the season four

(01:37):
the Pacers as they have now been eliminated from playoff contentment.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Well, they've already eliminated Halliburton too, right, I mean there's
all sorts of stuff going on. Well, he's everywhere, Dodger
fans everywhere, wrestling shows, I mean, he's out on the
banquet circuit.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
You got all of that. So yeah, it's chaotic.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Knight, Welcome back to the NBA in earnest right, a
little more of a full schedule as we get ready
for the start of the regular season next week.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yeah, with the Christmas holiday, I mean, look all Halliburton
had to do hit one shot, do the choke gesture,
and now he doesn't have to play. He's everywhere. I see,
he's every day, I see him doing something. He is everywhere.
Good for him, these pesky games, I don't need them anymore.
I hit the big shot last year. We're never getting
back to the finals. Okay, Yeah, I'm gonna dine out
on this for a while, as you should.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Hey, when you can find your wins man, like we
talked about it, raise your banner, even if it's your
makeshift one. You should just make one to go to
the garden and just pin it on the back wall.
What's that guy doing in the three hundred level? Well,
I'll tell you meanwhile.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Thursday night football, and it has been every bit the
close game we expected between the Rams and the Seahawks.
Eight thirty nine to go in the third quarter and
the Rams have taken a sixteen to fourteen lead field
goal just seconds ago. Mevas is good, so give it

(03:01):
a sixteen to fourteen lead. And this game it's it's
one of those where you see the score and you
think one thing, and you watch the game and you
think another. Because the Rams have done anything they wanted
to do in this game. They are up and down
the field against this Seahawks defense, up and down. But

(03:21):
what have they not been able to do? They've not
been able to convert in the red zone. This is
where they missed Devonte Adams, who of course is not
playing tonight, on the sideline cheering his ass off. Oh yeah,
but this is where you can tell boy down low.
They really miss them. And they got screwed on a
penalty the first drive on a touchdown play where they
got ruled for an eligible man downfield on the one

(03:43):
yard line, which it seems man, really, you really, and
all the guard did was drive the defender back, defender
pulls him down and you get called for that. Hey,
go pookin a cool you want to insult the rest,
We're gonna take that touchdown away from you.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Oh no, you didn't just go down that kid, you
know know, I'll tell you. But yeah, they've got three
hundred and twenty three yards of total offense the end
of the first half. They had nearly twenty two minutes
of possession. And as you we're watching this thing unfold,
it's the Sam Darnold's got seven pass attempts. Yeah, you
had a big play with Cooper Cup where he ends

(04:18):
up getting the ball dislodged. H You've had JSN running sprints.
He's been big fed zero.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
J said, Big fed zero tonight, no judges for the
best receiver in the NFL. In semi final week in fantasy,
the guys got zero catches, big fat zero, big fed zero.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Montsy perked up, like what, yes, yeah, I know I
got from the WW I got the the worst of it. Like,
I'll do the podcast right the iWatch of flax Dan
byer Seahawks fan. If he gets a win and then
I have nothing for j Jackson Smith and Jigba. Yeah,
I'm gonna be pissed. Yeah, it's gonna be tough, right,

(04:57):
I mean he gets to double down. Hey, not only
is he eating the NFC, they'll have the twelve wins.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
It.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I got it, Zero, I warned you last night. That's
what's the last hour of the show. You're like, well, no,
I don't worry about say I trusting. It's gonna be tough,
and now look where you are.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Yeah, but you can't shut it. You know what, expected
to get shut down altogether. In fact, Zero, I'm not
expecting twenty five points. I'm not looking for a big
Neither of us are getting points now now. I don't
know if I even get five points of them. I
field like at least like a five.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
I don't know. I'm gonna be many people care about
your fantasy team a lot of it. They care about him,
they care about Jackson Smith and Jig but getting Er
because they have them in fantasy, or they're going against it.
They're either very happy. It's all listen. I'm happy because
the Knicks just eliminated the Pacer. We won the last night.
Now we eliminated the Pacers. It's a big couple of nights.

(05:47):
But you're a sick man from this game, like this
is the thing to worry about all of a sudden,
now with the with the sex that they've had two
plays tonight, they've had two plays, and and uh and
and Walker's got both the screen pass for forty six
yards and the big forty yard touchdown run a few
months ago. They have nothing else. They can do nothing
against this Rams defense.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Dad the one drive that ends up getting chopped off
at the knees because Cup gets the ball to lives.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
They were gonna be first in goal from.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
The fifth, what from the nine or or whatever, first
and ten from the fifteen or whatever whatever the marker was.
But the point was you finally hit out a big
play over the middle and maybe you open things up,
it's like, nope, get it back to the Rams, who
then can have another big, long, protracted drive.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Big fat zero. They just try to go to Jackson
Smith the jigger right there, and somehow the ball hit
the ground about ten feet in front of him, big
fat zero. But that's the part of this game. And
this is where, look, Sam Darnold, people have to understand,
he's a good quarterback. Is he worth thirty million a year? Absolutely,
I'd rather pay him thirty million, even though he's been
on a heater the last couple of weeks. I'd rather
pay him thirty million than Trevor Lawrence fifty five million.

(06:54):
So yeah, is he a good quarterback. Yes, However, you
can see there's games where it's just not his night
and he has no idea what to do and he
looks lost. And the worst thing for the Seahawks is
I guarantee you every Seahawks fan watching this, you're seeing
the two best teams in the NFL playing right now.
And this is why I said last night, I was
picking the Rams on the road because I know their

(07:16):
defense is going to turn Sam Darnald to what he
was last time, which was four picks. Right, Sam Donald,
this is a very bad matchup for him. This Rams
are a very bad matchup. And I'm not surprised you're
seeing him struggle like they are tonight because look four
picks last time. You know it's going to be in
his head coming into this game. You know that whatever
special sauce Sean McVeagh has for him, this is now

(07:38):
out here again. Again, the best receiver in the NFL
does not have a catch night. You have not figured
out any way to get him the football at least
one time. No screen pass, no anything. No, we're just
gonna find a way to not give our best player
the football. So yeah, if you are the Seahawks, the
last team you want to see in any of this
in the playoffs going forward, you do not want to
see the Rams because even though there's some still in

(08:00):
this game, you do not want to see them because
you can see that Donald is not the same. Well,
but I mean they've done a great job playing a
keep away, right.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
You haven't had anything in terms of defensive effort except
they stiffened at the goal line and you've been able
to force field goals. The faux penalty as you called it,
a little bit earlier help distall that drive and keep
them out of the end zone. So fine, but when
we're talking about twenty one minutes of possession, like you
don't even have the ball, you don't even have to
get get started. The offensive line's been overwhelmed. They've done

(08:31):
a good job up front to where Donald he can't
even get to step up in the pocket and he's
getting bludgeoned. So you know, for his part, not that
I'm gonna go and bang the bang the drum and
be the most ardent of Sam Darnald.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Whisperers and all of this stuff.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
He's seven of ten, so not like he's he's thrown
the ball into harm's way and he's been terrible. Well,
they just haven't been able to get anything.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
They can't. They keep going three and out right, and
you look at their plays. Their first okay it wasn't
but you got the big, the big forty five yard
screen pass. Okay. Everything else has been three and out,
three and out, three and out, three and out, three
and out, and then they get the big run on
the last play fifty yards by Walker. That's been it. Like,
it's not like he's not been able to get anywhere

(09:15):
with the football they've not been able to look. And
this is not suddenly that, Hey, Sam Darnald stinks people.
You know, the five best defenses in the NFL, you
got two of them playing tonight. You got the Texans,
you have the Broncos. I mean, that's that's where that's
where you're at with with talk about teams that are
the best defenses in the league, and and you're seeing
them do it tonight. Except the Rams are having a

(09:37):
little bit more success on this and they're playing it
like I thought it was going to be and the Rams,
if you played the Rams defense, you might be getting
a pick six because Sam Darnald just threw the ball
right to a dB. I can't tell who it was
was Wallace. I think with the pick, where's Wallace at string?
That's what I want to know, Donald, where's Wallace at
That's all I want to know. Where's Wallace at? Wallace

(10:00):
catches the pass, takes it all the way down to
the one yard by to believe he was tackled just
short of the goal job by Kenneth Walker. So this
is gonna be a first and goal for the Rams,
a near pick six. As Donald continues to struggle. I mean,
I don't know Wallace was standing in the flat. I
don't know why Darnald thought he could get it in there.
He thought a really.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Tough to say receiver going inside, thought he was going
to trail with him.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Instead, he just stayed.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
I had let the safety come up to pick him up,
and he was standing there saying, peekaboo.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
I got you. Yeah, there's literally on ce you get
the big hit.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
So look, if you got Blake corm or Kiron Williams,
will roll the dice, see which one of them comes
out for the first in goal.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Yeah, Carrie, you are happy right now if you are
played ball.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Suddenly he got a gift because neither one of those
guys exactly lighting it up to this point, but potential
to get on the board here.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
But look, this is why I went when when I
look and say who the best teams in the NFL
are and I talk about the Rams being the best team.
Blake Korms in the end zone from a yard out,
So give the touchdown to the Rams, extra point pending
twenty two to fourteen. The thing is is that now
the year in December, and I know we look at
it with teams like the Dolphins and teams a boy,

(11:11):
and they're not going on the road and winning in December.
But you have to understand that that's got to be
the same way for the contenders too. Not just you're
going on the road, but you can win in a
hostile environment, and you can win any kind of game.
And that's the thing about this Rams seam. They can
win a big shootout, right. Always look at the end
of the year. Who can win any kind of game?
The Rams can because as you've seen with Stafford's year,

(11:32):
they can win any kind of They can win a shootout,
they can win when they have to run the football,
they win when they have to lean on the defense
to be able to do it. They can do all
of these things. Nobody else can do that like the Rams.
And here's a night where you think, Okay, it's gonna
be really tough, short week in Seattle, no DeVante Adams,
and here there are the nine point lead midway through
the third quarter and the Seahawks offense outside of two plays,

(11:53):
has done absolutely nothing. I mean, they had to stumble
a couple of weeks ago, but I don't know the
top to bottom there a team as good and this
solid as the Rams are right now in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Yeah, we spoke that interception into existence certainly as we
started the show.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
So there you got.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Sorry, Sam Darnold and Seahawks faithful for that one. But yeah, no,
Devonte Adams. So you change up your down distance and
how you go and do your play calling in the
red zone for sure, And I think you know to
steal from other sports, right, it's one of those step
up in class kind of moments where you think you're
a heavyweight in your conference.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
We look at the NBA. Everybody can measure up really
well against the other teams in the West, and then
you've got okc out there. Doesn't mean they don't stub
their tone now and again doesn't mean that they're not gonna,
you know, maybe lose I don't know eight games, But
all of that to say that, you know, that's your
measuring stick of where you are between good and great,

(12:49):
And the same thing here with this Ram squad.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
You got two carries for six yards out of Matthew
Stafford tonight.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I don't think his over under has been over a
half yard since he was a rookie.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
He hasn't, he hasn't had six yards rushing in a
game since twenty ten with the lunch. I just made
that up, but.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
It sounds good. It would I think everybody would believe that.
But you know, you look at the way they've distributed
the ball. You've got what six or seven different receivers.
The all three tight ends have been involved in the
passing game, which is one of the things the thirteen
personnel Greg co Sell and I've talked about that a
lot on the Sunday Show, how in season all of

(13:27):
a sudden you had an adjustment there and it's meant
wonders for their run game. But certainly keeping Matthew Stafford
upright is first and foremost in paramount to your success,
and they've done such a great job with that in Nikua,
trying to make up for all sorts of stupidity. He's
got four catches for seventy four yards and you've gotten
good balance and he's just owned time of possession.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
The lean is real. Exit out about a Fresco exit
swelling down The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Extra
point is Up and good again. Twenty three to fourteen
is the lead for the Rams right now. Again, still
a lot of time left and JSN did catch a pass,
so it's got a big fat zero for him now anymore.

(14:09):
Now he's got about two and a half. So okay,
all right, Hey, long road begins with the first step. Yay,
he's now their second leading receiver. Heyyy. So we'll keep
you updated on this game we got. We got more
big stuff from the NFL coming up and straight ahead.
We've made it all the way. We are on the
cusp of the beginning of the college football playoff. The

(14:29):
game of the weekend is tomorrow night. Why it's about
more than just Alabama Oklahoma tomorrow night. There are bigger
fish to fry than that. We'll tell you exactly why,
coming up next, Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio. Every
goal starts with an assist on and off the field.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Your selfish basstard.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
For over forty years, tyre Rax been open. Customers find
the right tire, how, what and where they drive, Shipped

He is the way tire buying should be. Well, Thursday
Night Football, late third quarter, Rams with the lead and

(16:17):
the football. They have the ball first and ten their
own fifteen yard line. They lead the Seahawks twenty three
to fourteen. I know it seems close, but if you
watch the game seen of it is like, wow, the
Rams are absolutely dominant. Stafford's thrown for two thirty. The
Rams have run for one hundred. They have done whatever
they've wanted to. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold big pick that could

(16:38):
flip the game in the Rams favor forever. As the
Rams get down to the one yard line, Blake corm
touchdown run gives them the big lead. They have thrown
for one hundred and twenty six yards to night. They're
running the ball, okay, right, Kenneth Kenneth Walker has a
couple of big plays. But this has been the Rams
defense putting a stamp on this game so far. And
here are the Seahawks chasing non you know, with a

(17:00):
little bit over a quarter left to go.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Yeah, great work by the Rams offensive line getting to
push and just dominant time of possession has been ridiculous.
Stafford's fourteen of twenty one on the night, had a
couple of big rushing efforts to extend drives, so all
of it, you know, it's been fantastic. In the next
score touchdown, the next touchdown takes us to the over.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
So here we are again two and a half to
go in the third quarter, again Rams with the football
deep in their own end, nine point lead over the Seahawks.
So we've made it to the fact that, wow, you know,
bowl season I always it used to be before this
advanced playoff the way we go in now with with
with the twelve teams, something like, well, we take a
couple of weeks off and then slowly the bowl games

(17:42):
trickle in, and now it's like no no, no, no
no no no no, no, no, no, nout. We're starting
to bowl games right away. And now we've made it.
Our first playoff game is tomorrow. Way more at stake
than just Alabama Oklahoma the winner moving on to the
next round of the playoffs. This is probably gonna be
the best game of the first round. You have a
couple of games out there like ooh man, really James Madison,

(18:05):
good luck, but uh more at stake tomorrow because now
for the game itself, neither of these offenses are playing well. Right,
You've seen the Alabama hasn't played well in weeks, and
and matiir and the and the Oklahoma offense was up early,
then it was down when he got hurt, and they're
still not back. Oklahoma's defense is I like it better

(18:27):
than Alabama. So I'm leaning Oklahoma in this game. But
the biggest thing is that all of a sudden, Calin
de Boor's situation is gonna take front and center tomorrow
night because his name has not disappeared from all of
the Michigan rumors as they look to replace Sharon More.
And they could have had any of the other guys

(18:48):
they wanted, right, if they really want Kenny Dillingham, Right,
if he was their first choice, they could hire the guy. Right,
they could get him now, because it went from all
where where are they gonna go? Who's it gonna be?
Is it gonna be Jed Fish? Well, if they want
to Jed Fish. If Jed Fish was the guy, they
would hire him right after Washington won their bowl game
last week. Right, if you want Kenny Dillian, Kenny Dillian,
you can leave to go to Michigan. Right, you can leave.

(19:09):
They asked you to go to Michigan, right, but the
Boar's never changed. It's not been that case. And there
is all kinds of pressure for him to win tomorrow
night because if they lose tomorrow night, Kaylen de Boor's
going to Michigan. I'll go bowl with that right now,
because it's never been a throw our arms around to
Boor from the beginning. Last year was rough. This year

(19:31):
started out rough, then it got good. Now it's rough again.
You go out in the first round and you lose
twice to the same team in a year. Are you?
Are you bringing Kaalen de Bor back? And he really
has the confidence of the team, of the of the
school of the nil guys, because remember the nil guys,

(19:51):
the guys who are going to make changes, right, This
is who makes coaching changes in the in college football. Now,
it's not about how you feel a coach is done
with moving a team forward achieving. It's if the nil
guys say, hey, I don't like Kaylen Debor and you're
not getting any of my money until you get them out. Well,
guess what, Calen de Bor is out. It would have
been put to bed by now, it would have been

(20:12):
it wouldn't be out there, Michigan would have their coach.
What are they waiting for? If it was somebody that
didn't have a job right now, or someone they could
go get, they would have right someone who's coaching in
a non playoff situation or is leaving and they can
go they can go get. They would have had that
personal ready because Michigan knows they got to act fast. Right.
You gotta be able to say, hey, you don't want

(20:33):
players to transfer. Right you're Bryce Underwood sitting around waiting
to see what would go on. A lot of players,
a lot of recruits are wondering what's going on. You
can't wait very long. The fact they don't have a
coach and it's been some time now, I know it's
been shocker, but you know this is a college football
moves pretty fast, right you get you know, it's not
like Ferris Bueller, where you stop around look a while
you miss it. No college football moves fast. The fact

(20:54):
they don't have their guy yet tells me that if
Alabama loses tomorrow night, Michigan's gonna have yeah. Mean you
go back to us.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Leading into the beginning of bowl season with Washington and
Boise State and a lot of talk here in Los
Angeles that Fish was going to win that game, they
had a big effort, and that he was going to
show up immediately as the next Michigan head man.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
So he got him.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
And as you said, you know, you're talking Arizona State
and they're done and non essential to what we're doing
in terms of playoffs. But the curious thing fordbors get
if he loses, does Michigan want him?

Speaker 1 (21:30):
I'm just kidding. Seven and one, ten and three.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
As they come into this game, you talk about the
offense being broken, and you wonder how much that plays
into the last couple of weeks because you've got a
lot of players that are trying to figure out what
their options are coach days or goes. They're trying to
figure out their future because they're watching other players all
announced there. They're re signing with schools, or others who've

(21:55):
entered the portal quarterbacks deciding hey, I'm staying in school.
There's a lot of other dominoes falling while you play
the waiting game and you have no real set line
for your coach. He's still at plus five point fifty
du Bor as we get ready for this one and
we're looking at both offenses have stalled.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
This is one where you might want to pound the
under well. And the thing is this is that right
now is there's it's twenty four hours right. This is
what makes us so fascinating is that it's twenty four
hours into I stay or I go, because right now,
I think you look at Alabama and you look at
Crimson Tide Nation and I anything, it's like, Okay, okay,

(22:39):
well we're in the playoff. Gotta win this game. It's
first playoff game. Gotta win. If we win, Okay, we
win a game, we're moving on. Okay, but that's the
thing now. And you can say everything is sunshine, lollipops
and rainbows, and Dibor said this week, no, I haven't
talked to anybody. I have no plans to leave.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
No.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
And that's great. But if you lose, everything changes, well
it does. Everything changes.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
But those are always my favorite kind of statements from coaches.
Doesn't mean that your representatives haven't doesn't mean that they
haven't come to you with fourteen different options and different
proposals along the way. When we're talking about contracts, I
mean you talk about Dillingham and others who are in
the waiting game like some of that. Their leverage is
all dependent on what happens tomorrow night, right, I mean,

(23:26):
because they win a game, and to your point, the
nil where the money flows, you know, you might get
a couple of those folks back on, but you might not. Right,
if it's not an impressive win. It still becomes the
wait and see and eventually Michigan's got to start into
the next round of stuff.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Right.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
You can't sit around and wait forever on a coach.
And we're at the point is if he was leaving
and he was the guy sign sealed, delivered, you know,
you would have had another lane Kiffin's situation.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
If if he wins, I will say likely he stays
because now Michigan says, okay, now we have to move on.
They won a playoff game, even if they lose the
next game. Okay. That's why I mean, it's crazy to
think that his future is gonna come down to one
game in time tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Right.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
It's like, okay, well, I took over for Saban, you know,
all right, Yeah, it wasn't great, but it wasn't awful.
This year we're in the playoff. I know it was
a little controversial, but we made the playoff, but it
doesn't matter. One game changes off. Michigan Pivots and Baby
Dillingham is their second choice. They have somebody else, but
they're sitting in limbo right now, because Okay, after tomorrow
night they will know because I guarantee you things will

(24:37):
change for Alabama. They love the guy now, love love
and love, love love. But then he loses again to
Oklahoma and out of the playoff and first unt, everything's
gonna change all of a sudden. The viewpoint of him
is gonna be different, how they see, how they view
him long term, everything will change with a lost tomorrow night.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Yeah, I just don't know how much there's love, love
love love. Remember there were there was a lot of
noise after the loss to Florida State about is he
the guy? And I mean we're just getting the season started,
and it was already when odds coming out of first
big coach fired and Kyalen de Moore's name was there,
people were already starting to line up, Hey, what would

(25:16):
be the alternatives? Who's the uh, the hot next prospect
you know at a smaller school that would make the
jump up. So it's not surprising with three losses, even
with a playoff appearance. And again to me, this is
all just insane. Right with my Northwestern squad, You with
your Syracuse squad, they're like, you made the playoffs and

(25:37):
you're still pissy and might throw the guy out.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
All right, not good enough we want to get rid of.
But but that, but that's but that, that's the reality.
But right, and that schools like Alabama that at that
play at a level above the rim that I'm like,
if I could win, if I could go nine and
fourths here, I'm very happy with nine and four Man,
I'm pretty good. I'm pretty good squeaking into the playoff,
I'm okay with that. But at different schools it's there.

(26:03):
Why do you think Ohio State fans if you hook
them all up to lie detectors and said, okay now,
or give them that whatever? What do they give people?
We used to give polygraft ten no, no, no, no, no
no no. It was in the seventies and eighties. Every
movie when they wanted to get people the truth, that
you gave them a shot of something. Oh it was
so sodium pentothal right, yeah, what it was? Sodium pentethol.

(26:25):
Get you to tell the truth, like what I remember
what growing up like, I always thought, Man, I don't
want anybody to hit me to injecting the sodium pentathol.
I'm gonna have to tell the truth on stuff, just
like I was worried about quicksand the Remuta triangles. Things
were very huge.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Yeah, I visioned myself in the sodium pentathol. You know,
but you never know, you in your principal's office, people
in your lives that you know, your six degrees of separation,
You just don't know one of the kids did one
of the kids did something, you know, I mean, who
knows the rousers. I mean they've been seen carousing and
playing baseball princip with Jason Smith before your principal's.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Tying off rub it turn around your'n okay, I'm gonna
give you a little bit.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Here you go.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
That's so that's just alcohol patch. Don't worry. But I
haven't done anyth yet. All right, Great, now you're gonna
tell me what happened at recess today. Oh, I don't
know any forms? Would you have to? I don't know?
Uh think about that in school? So what are they
gonna do?

Speaker 3 (27:19):
It's like I gotta sign forty two forms for you
to get a tile at all? What do we gotta
do for the sodium pop if if you if you
gave sodium pentafall to every Ohio State fan and you said, okay,
now here, we are ready for this play.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
I can go back in time last year. I can
give you the win over Michigan. Yeah, but I'll take
away the national championship. Sixty percent think that Ohio State
fans would say, yes, yes, give me the win over Michigan.
I don't care that we lost the playoff. Yeah, no,
we guarantee guarantee. Do they guarante have that many people

(27:55):
in their lives that make it miserable? Yes, it's it's
they lived that game for hundred and sixty five days. Man,
they don't live playing in the in the National championship
or in the playoff.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
You gotta get out of your head, get off social media.
Sixty different friends, if friends would say the forty would say,
why you have a party at your house a guy
comes running through with a Michigan club.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
When you live, when you live a.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Rivalry like that three out of sixty five days a year, yes,
Like they would say, yeah, hey, the national championship is nice,
but I'd rather beat Michigan. The national title is nice.
The national title is nice, but I'd rather beat But you.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Show up to a holiday party and there's a crazy
Oh you got a new dog, crazy that it's wolverine. Wolverine,
go look at it? Whoa he's running around is clawing
up the Yeah. I just absolutely stole that from the Simpsons.
What's in there? Boy, Badger, badger? My ass, it's a badger?

Speaker 1 (28:51):
All right? Exit out about a Fresca exit swalling down
the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen.
Things get a little difficult now for the Seahawks. They
are now two touchdowns down early in the fourth quarter.
Time out to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. So someone who's been called the Kaylin
de Boor of Fox Sports Radio. Okay, all right, ending
on now. Her update goes she may or may not

(29:12):
have a job.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
So in September, quick story, quick story. In September, I
went to Orlando. I don't know if you guys remember,
I think I told you in detail, Jason. I went
to like the Universal Theme Parks, and like I did
the whole thing So we're at the hotel we were
staying at and this woman comes up to the bartub.
I'm just at the bar with the boyfriend watching a
football game. It was either Thursday Monday night football. And
this woman comes up and she hears us talking about football.

(29:37):
So she jumps in and she's got a Southern accent
and she tells me she's she's an Alabama fan. But
she goes on to tell us how much they don't
like Kaylan de Boor and how she's telling her her
husband to open up that pocketbook so that they can
get rid of him.

Speaker 6 (29:55):
This in September.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Did you ask a bunch of questions about who they
were and where they were from and what business they operated.

Speaker 5 (30:02):
She was there on a business trip, like they were
doing a convention of something, but she like it was
it was so interesting.

Speaker 6 (30:08):
I wish I would. I just was like, I can't
believe this woman.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
Because you hear the stories of how like you know,
these booster people invest in school and they will get
rid of someone if they really don't want them.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
Oh, and this woman was like, honey, open up that pocketbook.
We are getting rid of this.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
All understand that they call the shots. We don't if
we don't like this guy, yes, you gotta get rid
of him or you're not getting any money.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Otherwise, the lad's not getting any new Bunsen burners.

Speaker 6 (30:33):
That so crazy.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
And then here they are, well at least guys Jackson
Smith and jig but now has four catches on sixty
eight yards.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Make it.

Speaker 5 (30:43):
It's no longer big fat zero. No, no longer big
fat zero. The Rams du lead the Seahawks thirty to fourteen.
Matthew Stafford has thrown for three hundred and three yards
and two touchdowns. His latest one went to Pukaakua, who
has six catches for one hundred and thirty three yards
and one touchdown. We'll check in on the NBA right

(31:06):
now when it comes to the overtime game between the
Rockets and the Pelicans. The Pelicans are up right now
one twenty five to one twenty three, but there's about
a minute to go in the game. And then early
in the fourth quarter, the Mavericks have taken the lead
from the Pistons. They're up ninety three to eighty nine,
where Cooper Flag has seventeen points seven rebounds. The Nuggets
now lead the Magic eighty seven to seventy one with

(31:27):
about five minutes to go in the third quarter, where
Nikola Jokic twenty one points, six rebounds, twelve assists, Dylan
Brooks us twenty two points and six rebounds, The Suns
and the Warriors are tied at sixty six late in
the third quarter. Early in the third quarter, the Jazz
lead the Lakers eighty three to seventy seven. Luka Dancic
twenty five points and nine assists, and the Kings are
topping the Trailblazers right now forty two to thirty six.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
It's still early in the second quarter.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
There.

Speaker 5 (31:52):
The Knicks won it on a Jalen Brunson three points
shot with like five seconds to go against the Pacers,
one fourteen to one thirteen final score. The Clippers were
all they were up in the first half, but they
lost to the Thunder one twenty two to one oh one,
Spurs over the Wizards one nineteen to ninety four.

Speaker 6 (32:09):
Raptors defeated the Bucks.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
One eleven to one oh five, and then Heat took
down the Nets one oh six to ninety five. LaMelo
Ball in his return, had seven threes in the first
half for the Hornets and they beat the Hawks one
thirty three to one twenty six. In the NHL, the
cracking Er up on the Flames two to one late
in the second period, Stars and Sharks tied at one
apiece late in the first period, and in overtime, the
Rangers and the Blues are tight at one.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch of mons. Yeah,
here's why I proved my part. Real fast harmony. All right,
MONSI your Clipper fan through and through. See I get
one of these two things I can give you. The
Clippers win the title, okay, win the championship, or they
beat the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals lose in
the NBA finals. Which one do you want? They beat

(32:55):
the Lakers in the Western Conflict but lose the title,
or they win the title but it.

Speaker 5 (33:00):
Just maybe not an important game in the Western Conference finals.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
Well what do you pick?

Speaker 3 (33:04):
You know, just minimizing a Clippers appearance in the Western Conference.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
I'm taking.

Speaker 6 (33:10):
I'm taking the title. An you don't have one? Are
you kidding me?

Speaker 5 (33:16):
Then finally win a Jams Back to.

Speaker 6 (33:19):
Me, it would be it would be great.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
It was one banner. It would be beat the Lakers.
We beat the Lakers in banner we beat the.

Speaker 6 (33:27):
Lakers, like you know what.

Speaker 5 (33:28):
I'm saying, Like no, because if we beat the I
can't even imagine beating the Lakers in the Western Conference
Finals and then winning the champions gym.

Speaker 6 (33:35):
Oh, I would never hear the end of it.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
All right, They do have one banner. They shut up
the Griffin jumped over a car.

Speaker 6 (33:42):
I did.

Speaker 5 (33:42):
Hell yeah, greatest Clipper of all time?

Speaker 6 (33:47):
Play Griffin. Don't get it twisted.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
They got a banner that says signed Kawhi Leonard, and
then another banner re signed Leonard. Lights over spot lights
come on.

Speaker 6 (33:57):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Next. Speaking of the NBA, Yannis speaks for the first
time about his future since he was injured, and oh boy,
I don't think he's gonna be happy with where things
sit right now. That's next. Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio,
I want to be a liquor.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
I want a punt return for a touchdown for Christmas.
Only a punt return for a touchdown. I'll make a close.
Don't want another fumble a Sam Darnald Dick. I need
Rashid Shahed to take it all the way to the house.
That is what has happened. A two touchdown lead is

(34:48):
now a one touchdown lead for the Rams. Rashid Shahed
just return the punt fifty eight yards for a touchdown.
They get the two point conversion and now it is
a thirty twenty two lead for the Rams. Still tons
of time left in this eight minutes ago. They kick
right to Shahed and he's the best returner in the NFL.

(35:11):
He's the one guy that's gonna break things open for
you and certainly does it here. It didn't even look
like it was difficult. You know, this is one of
those short field punt returns where I'm gonna just try
to evade as often as I can and get people
over pursuing, and you have to do that. He was
able to hit full stride pretty early in this and
take it all the way for a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
Why you made the deal to go get him. Hopefully
spur some things and keep safeties honest in the secondary
on offense, but certainly in the return game. It's been
him in DK one of the great return men of
all purpose yards going over in Tennessee. But a huge
play here the defense finally stood up for Seattle to

(35:52):
Blake Korum runs at an incomplete pass, they get the
opportunity for the ball back and instead of putting it
back in Sam's hands, you get it return score and
then the two point conversion is good. Cooper Cup hangs
onto the ball this time, and we got ourselves an
eight point game.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
I mean, I mean, you really want the ball in
the hands of Sam Darnold as much as possible. You know,
you want at this point, you want the ball in
his hands. You don't want it in anybody else's hands.
You're He's one of the I mean, Shahid probably has
had one of the two or three best years of
anybody returning kicks in the NFL. And it's a short field.
He just takes it all the way and he was

(36:28):
kicked right to him like there was no there was
no I got a drift to the side, I got it. No,
it was right there, catch and go. Coming into the game.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
When you took at all purpose yards in the National
Football League this courtesy of Fox sports dot Com.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Shahid was thirteenth.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
He'll pass Rico Dwell at least short term number one,
the aforementioned DK who's at twenty one hundred yards.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Yeah, but teams that matter though, he's probably number one.
So here we are thirty to twenty two. We'll keep
your presence all matter. Eight minutes to go in the game,
Rams with the football again eight point lead now after
he either did the Jets, but.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Trying to give a guy a little bit of love
who's operating.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Undercover of darkness and you just want to hate on him.
Hell man, you know, now, once in a while on
the show, not very often, but once in a great,
great while, you know, like as often as you see
a YETI you like to hear me say go New York,
Go New York, Go. I do that. It is very
very rare, very rare.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
I think it's one like your Jets Super Bowl prediction.
It happened once and then lives forever.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
But now I feel like as Berman would do this
story and TJ maybe for Yannis. It's no New York,
No New York, no uh. Yann has talked today publicly
for the first time about his future since suffering his
injury in the beginning of December, and there was talk before. Obviously,

(37:55):
we had heard stories that his agent was spending time
talking with the Bucks about his future and whether or
not jan It's on Kokumpo's future was best with Milwaukee
or someplace else. So Jannis is asked about it today
and he says this quote. If my agent is talking
to the Bucks about it, he's his own person. He
can have any conversation he wants. I'm locked in, locked

(38:16):
in on my teammates, locked and ready to get back.
So so, because what I forget is that the agent
doesn't work for you. The agent just has conversations about you,
no matter what. There is not one agent that is
just randomly or on his own talking to teams about
you and about your future and about where you want
to go and where where are you going to stay

(38:37):
or go without your express approval. No, I don't disagree.
He is not Janni's agent is not calling the Bucks
freelancing about Hey, what do you think about it?

Speaker 3 (38:48):
I'm not saying he's not an outgoing calls not happening.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
I mean he's gonna take anything. He's going.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
Hey, how's Gianni's feeling, how's his recovery? He's feeling good. Yeah, No,
Nucky's going to be back on the door. Hey, No,
by the way, you talk about swirling a lot of
stuff swirling about. You know, the team's not very good,
and he seems he seemed frustrated before the injury. There's
easy ways to Hey, by the way, how the kids
you can have?

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Any kids? I heard the first semester was going, well,
you know in seart school, believe what you're saying. Do
you really believe what you come on? Man, you live
in fantasy land that eventually.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
Your agent comes back and says, hey, you know what,
I had a conversation.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
I got a call. Uh.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
They was from an area code I understood and knew,
so I figured I should pick it up. And it
wasn't someone just trying to fleece me.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Things are getting a little difficult, and you're seeing a
little bit of weirdness now with Giannie's take on this,
because after Tuesday night doesn't look like the Knicks, which
could be if, according to reports, Gianna's preferred destination doesn't
look like that's gonna happen. At the end of February,
the Knicks feel, hey, they have everything going on, They
believe in Mike Brown, they have a bench that's playing well.

(39:56):
The Knicks don't knockwood. The Knicks have a direction. They
that's why they needed to win the E Cup title
because they needed a little bit of proof that, hey,
what we're doing is working. What they're doing is working.
They're not upsetting the apple cart. So now if Joannist
wants to go someplace else, he's got to figure out
with this man. No, we've talked about that a lot.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Is you know, trying to figure out exactly what other
potential destinations that there were rumors there in Chicago for
a bit as well. There'll be other suitors that come
stacked with with chips.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
No New York, No New York. No, you're not done yet.
