Listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome inside, Happy Thursday, The Jason Smith Show with
my bas friend.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Mike Harmon hel Jeff Cobo.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
For over forty years, tire Rack's been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Shipped fast and free, backed by free Road, has a
protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac
dot com is the way tire bahing should be. Well,
you think I'm nervous, you think I'm gripping, you think
I'm crazy, I'm not. I've already accepted the Knicks will
(00:58):
break my heart. So the fact they've given up a
ten point lead and are going to do this again now,
losing to the Pistons one oh five, one oh three
with five minutes left I've accepted it, Mike Carmen, I go,
you know, the thing is getting older. I kind of
go right to acceptance. I don't go through all those
different stages. I just like, yeah, you know, it just
got me to let me hit the button on the
TVL fast forward times four times five, times six, and
(01:19):
I go right to acceptance.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
It's funny because we had an exchange a little bit earlier,
and it was a reminder of something from the past
that says, surprise, you don't old the grudge over it.
And my response was too damn old. Either the list
is too long, or I'm too old to care. I
paused a second, and I said, really, it's because I'm
too old.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
To give a damn same thing here.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
You know, you ride the highs and lows as best
you can, but at some point you got to accept
your fate as a New York Knicks fan that there
was going to be a run. Now we're having a
nine minute review. Over whelm a blocking file O a
blocking file with five and a half minutes left to
go in the gase. This isn't five and a half.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Minutes left to go.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
This is this is like if a if a receiver
is out of bounds in the end zone with eight
seconds left in the Super Bowl. Kind of review that
did dude make contact with him or not? Yes, it's
a fall. Yeah, so what's going on?
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Right to be?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
I slug you upside the head? He got him with
the body you called the block?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Move on.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Pistons lead. Pistons lead the Knicks one O five, one
oh three. Jalen Brunson going in for a layup, Tim
Hardaway Junior gets called for a blocking foul the coach
there was a coach's challenged by JB.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Bickerstaff.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
With five and a half left to go, we're waiting
to get the final outcome here and it looks like
it's gonna be reversed and the Pistons are gonna get
the basketball. They're gonna rule that Jalen Brunson kind of tripped,
so they win the challenge and now with five and
a half left to go, one O five, one oh three,
Pistons with the lead home cook.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
No, that's ridiculous. I mean, look, was he been out
of control? Sure there's still physicality to it and a
body on him, but hey, the officials get paid for
a reason. And with a big run sometimes they get
caught up in the emotion of things.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Hey, we want we want game seven. We want Game
seven in the in the greatest arena in the world.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
I'm gonna say it.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
With all the sincerity of a forty year old basketball
player talking about getting kicked off a team or traded
or deposed because he suggests they need a center. I mean,
that's where I'm at, like all sincerity all the time.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yeah, and now, as if things couldn't get any worse,
so they go to jump the ball, right because obviously
coach's challenge here was a loose ball.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
So they go to jump and it gets knocked out
of bounds.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Karl Anthony Towns is now bent over at the waist,
not feeling great after, and Tim Hardaway Junior is screaming
about something. So, yeah, this is gonna be a final
five minutes. It's gonna be something. Karl Anthony Towns continues
to grab his chest. I don't know if he strained
a muscle or got punched or got hit, but uh,
he definitely looks like he's moving a step slow here
(04:05):
for a couple time.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
I want to see the review of that, Like, what
the hell happened? All of a sudden the Yeah, I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
I'm looking at the replane now, and it looks like
he goes up and maybe he gets me get in
the side.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Yeah, it looks like he gets hitting the side.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
It looks like he gets extended where. Yeah, that did
not look comfortable. I think he had too many sandwiches
at the bodega.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Stop, there's no you know, yeah, too many sandwiches. Not
enough points for him tonight.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Uh, yeah, he does only have nine, nine and twelve
on the Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Not not not great, Bob, not great, Jason.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
You got to let people know where the sandwiches are from.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Sorry, the sandwiches are from the bodega's big, big bodega sands.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Uh some size?
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah, well, well you can't have big bodega and it'd
be a small I mean come on, that's like me
going to McDonald's and going, what would you like?
Speaker 4 (04:53):
So, yeah, I want a regular sizel. You don't want
a super size? No?
Speaker 1 (04:55):
No, give me the smallest fries. You have the smallest drink,
smallest everything, give me all. Isn't there the whole.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Thing where if you take a small fry and you
put it in the large container, it's really actually the
same fries.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Oh I never did that before.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
M tis in the big one.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
It seems.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I mean, you get a nice box as opposed to
a little bag. So psychologically you're feeling a lot better
about your purchase.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah yeah, or you feel like, hey,
I had the small fries.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
I'm feeling you exactly like I feel like that would
be an easy thing to figure out, right, Like that'd
be an easy thing to go. Okay, well here I'm
going to get a small and a big fry. I'm
gonna see if there's enough small fry in the big
fry and same thing.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Well, I mean, could you do it with sodas and
coffee cups or whatever else based on the shape of
the cup and where it gets wider versus narrower and
all those fun things.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Okay, Uh, so we'll keep you posted on this game.
The Pistons now with a four point lead over the Knicks.
The Knicks turn it over in the back court, uh
and a breakaway layup. So it's one oh nine, one
oh five Pistons with the lead, time outcome and just
getting to under four minutes left to go in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
So look, big NBA night.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Right, we got the Nuggets and the Clippers coming up again,
another elimination game on the way.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
But today seems to be a story a.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Day for people who are not going to be around,
who are not going to be around for the playoffs,
and at the top of that list is Tyre's Halliburton's dad,
who will not be around the Pacers during the rest
of their playoff run. Halliburton gets into it with Giannis
after the elimination game two nights ago or Tyre's Halliburton
(06:32):
goes in for a layup to win the game. The
final shot is no good from seventy five feet away,
and Halliburton's dad decides to get Giannis's face hold up
a towel with his picture on, and this is what
we blank and do becomes a whole big thing, And
now tyres Is dad will not attend the team's home
and road games for quote the foreseeable future. So yeah,
(06:55):
I feel like we have the two big stories a
week about scandal involve a guy who's way old enough
to know better and a guy who's defensive coordinator's kid
is twenty one, right, Like you got Jeff Ulbrick's kid
and you got Tyre's Haliburton's dad, and they're at the
the opposite end of the spectrum of hey, you still
should know a little bit better. But one guy who's,
you know, in his sixties and one kid who's twenty
one you should still know better.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
One costs the dad one hundred and grand the other's dignity.
So it's the the idea for the pacers. Couldn't they
have just forced him into a suite? I mean, I
know it's not quote solving the problem, but do you
run the risk? Is Haliburton with this facers to beat
(07:36):
in its own.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
This is like rewarding a kid's behavior. The kid won't
stop crying, but I gave him ice creaming to stop crying. Okay, oh,
you're not gonna be on the floor, but we'll put
you in a suite. Wait what Yeah, you get to
go in a sweet warning. Wait he doesn't to yell
at the other players.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Sure it is.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Being down by the court side infinitely better than a suite.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Dude, No, no, no, no, but not state.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
But say, I'm a man, I don't get invited to him.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
But not being at the game is the big thing, right,
that's the the whole But go into a suite. That's
not it. That's not a punishment. That's like, hey, we're gonna.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
But it takes away his full enjoyment of it because
he's not on the court.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Doesn't really really, he's not gonna enjoy the game from
the suite.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Really, well, he's not gonna doesn't get to wave a
towel at anybody.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
I think you can still wave a toime.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
He's still gonna enjoy the game away from the arena
as well.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, I mean no, I.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Guess you're you're just deciding you've got to make the
ultimate in punishments and examples of him.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Well, you have to do something at least and say, dude,
you can't come to the games. That's that's that's what
it kind of has to be.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
The only way you guys, or anybody out there is
not enjoying a sweet as if they're allergic to delicious
beer and sandwiches.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Yeah, they load you up with all kinds of food dealer.
Oh yeah, a great bathroom. You can use it like
hardly anybody, mean, that's fantastic, And no one used a
bathroom for another thirty five to forty five minutes. I'm
like pops with the spray in my hands, letting go.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
No, you're telling me it's got the same juices being
sideline and screaming at the play.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
But it's the sick But but you're still giving them
something good. It's a it's an incredibly soft landing, all right.
And I say this knowing what I'm gonna say next
to really, wait a minute. So you don't want them
to do that, but you want them to be a
TV star. This goes back to my idea from a
couple of years ago. Right, all these different shows that
are great now reality TV, you know, all the different
(09:30):
shows with the wags and everything. Basketball Dads, right, Remember
I had that idea a couple of years ago, right.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
When the whole ut.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Aaron Fox's dad right going out, Like Basketball Dads is
a show.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
And you get.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Tyrese Halliburtons, and you get a whole bunch of dads
that are playing against other teams. You get them watching
games together, you get them feuding with each other, you
get him in the same room talking smack.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
About their kids each other.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
You put them next to each other in the games,
and obviously they know how to act on a reality show, right,
You don't just sit there and clap and go, yeah,
it's great. Your kid is great, My kid is great. No,
they know I'm gonna get into it. And clearly, you
know a lot of basketball dads, a lot of bad
want to be part of the storyline. Okay, at least
let's make a show out of it. I'm telling you
basketball dads, and you get some of these guys going in,
Oh my good, it would be incredible. I mean, everybody,
(10:15):
everybody would watch it go, oh, tonight, Oh, Lonzo's coming back,
and it's gonna be Oh, d'aron Fox is gonna play there,
Fox's dad and Lonzo ball.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Oh, here comes Halliburton's dad. He's got you.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
He's waving the towel in front of I mean, you
just gotta get like seven or ten dads and you
shoot like five or six episodes and it becomes it
becomes a huge hit. And then the next year it's like, oh,
now we're doing basketball dads East Coast basketball, Dad's West
Coast basketball, Dad's Heartland basketball, Dad's Southwest.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
You're doing all of them, and it's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
No, I think there's money to be made here.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
I'll profit off it, But just like all the real
housewives of this, that or the other. I won't watch
a damn minute of it. I can honestly say I've
never seen a minute of any one of the executive producers.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
We're gonna know that to where id n?
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Yeah? Yeah no.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
We get casting, uh, based on the sports news, and
then it's like Brad Pitt in Moneyball.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Oh I don't watch the games.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Yeah, I'll save your seat right here, Billy. Yeah, I
don't watch the games.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
I'll be on the treadmill while that prints money for me.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Yeah, exactly. See. See that's how it works.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Man.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
See suddenly I got you on board. Oh no, I'm not.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
I'm on board philosophically, there's no question about it. I'm
just speaking for myself as a consumer. Not not my
cup of tea.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
But unless unless they end.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Up fighting, nope, I don't watch the show that I create. No, no, no,
But this is your idea.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
No no, Once I'm sold, it's sold, yeah right.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I get my profits off of whatever the ratings are,
or whatever cut of any ancillary deals, sponsorships, marketing, T
shirt sales, joshkis all of those things. I'm in, and
I care about those reports. But in terms of sitting
down for the show. No, someone gives me a thirty
second synopsis.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah, what happened is we next idea or go to
the next idea. We're going to the next idea. Okay,
that's great.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Oh man, I am Michael Keaton from Night Next Ipe.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Let's go basketball Dads.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Like we should patent that title because that's gonna be it,
like because we can't use NBA because then we'd have
to pay money to lay. But we did Basketball Dads. Boom,
We're done. Basketball Dads. South Beach. Basketball Dad's la. Like
it'd be just like the Real Housewives show, except Basketball Dads.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
We just go state to state, region, region and suddenly
we start syncing up and we take over for the
NC double A and now we're adjudicating things for them.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
And then it becomes such a big, a big hit
with the basketball dads from the NBA. It's basketball dads
in college and basketball dads in high school. I mean,
all of a sudden, this is like a whole We
have the MCU of basketball.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Dads all the way down to club sports. Yeah, all
the way down regional regional cable and uh, you know,
YouTube and everything else and now we got it.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Get into a regional cable channel near you. What do
you got, Frostburg?
Speaker 5 (12:53):
You do know how TV works? Right?
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Sure? I do? Why I turn the TV on? I find?
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah, you don't think people are gonna sit there and
watch Levart? Yes, they of course they will. Of course
it will because the kids are going to be in it,
they'll be part of it, the players will be of
course people will.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
No, of course apps one hundred percent. Why don't you
think people will.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
Watch because it's dumb?
Speaker 4 (13:13):
Oh? Wait, has that stopped? How many ideas? Has that
stopped getting on television? How many ideas?
Speaker 1 (13:19):
I would say sixty three percent of the stuff that's
on TV is dumb, Yet it finds its way on there.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
You don't need to have the every idea. Does it
need to be in over the top high brow?
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Oh, this is going to appear to the top one
tenth of one percent of clientele, and then it's going
to trickle down and suddenly we're gonna no how many
big bed zombie as ripoffs have we seen, doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
It's got you put it on.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
People are gonna watch, whether it's on HBO, Max or
on sci Fi. Does it need to be Does it
need to be a really over the top smart idea.
It can just be an okay ideas and it makes money.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
You're living in the past.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
It's just Max now right, Oh, it's just it HBO
Max and having for a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
That's an old logo.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
You got to update your app update update. Wait, yeah, wait,
wait for it.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Clearly back to the Haliburton genesis point of all of this.
Obviously facetious in terms of you know what to do
with him, but you are walking a line where the
league's now got to figure out policy and procedure of
this stuff. Right in terms of people being able to
walk on to a court as easily as he did,
(14:24):
which is a whole other issue, But regardless of who
he is related to, there are a lot of people
wandering around that court, which is which is problematic because
you saw how close he got to to Jannis just
like that, and nobody came in to frame until one
of the teammates finally like, oh wow, what's going on
(14:46):
over here?
Speaker 2 (14:48):
So yeah, we got to figure something out here.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Just like seth Rogen in the studio, he wants to
make great movies, but he's not turning his way away
from money, and that's what this is about.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
This is about money, straight cash.

(17:03):
in the fourth quarter. Karl Anthony Towns has fouled out
of the game for the Knicks. He leaves with ten
points in thirty seven minutes in a row, so not
the best night for Big Bodega.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
However, the Pistons miss.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
A layup and it's been a lot of mislaymps from
both teams in the last couple of minutes.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
So the Knicks have the ball. I assume two things.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
One they will hold for the final shot, and two
Jalen Brunson will take it or we're going to overtime.
One thirteen, one thirteen, time out on the floor, twenty
seconds left to go. Brunson also having a big night.
He's got thirty seven in a.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Row, thirty seven.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
But and every time down the floor, it's kind of
been like Teenwolf in the last few minutes where he
dribbles down the floor of the ball. Every just kind
of stands around, going, okay, you're just gonna shoot it,
go whatever.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
And he goes.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
It's one on five and somehow like two out of
every five times down the floor.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
But he travels a lot.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
He does, but he doesn't get the call for it,
so it's out a travel Yeah, I mean ocasion.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
It would be good for someone to actually come to
this side of the court and maybe set a pick
and give him a little bit of a cause he's
getting beating the hell out of this look.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
But what do I tell you about the Knicks offense? Right?
Speaker 1 (18:11):
What if I said about it in close games like this,
what happens Their offense becomes we stand around and let
Jalen want to dribble around the basketball and uf guys
that can make shots. Right, Yeah, Josh Hart can make
a big shot. Karly Anthony Towns if he was in
the game, he can make a big shot. Bridges finally
having a big playoff game. He just had a big
tip in. He can make a big shot. So but
(18:32):
it just so much standing around of Okay, we're just
kind of standing and watching and standing and watching, and
Jalen Brunson misses and suddenly it's up in the air.
Like that's the entire Nicks offense. Sometimes it works, and
sometimes it hit a big three and it defies logic
and expectation and you hit a big three, Oh.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Like Jalen Brunson just did.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Oh, he just hits a big three, kissing to the
crowd with four seconds left.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
The next he had one sixteen one thirteen.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
I think got him every five times by carbon two
out of five it works.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
I think dude lost his jockstrap on the little move Jalen.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Bruns just put Yes he did.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
He killer cross over him, Tim Hardaway sitting over on
the sideline.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
That was his move.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
All those years ago, I would have been looking right
at Tim Tim Hardaway and waving at him, going, hey,
what'd you think of?
Speaker 4 (19:23):
Wait Thompson.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Asar Thompson is such a good defender, and Jalen Brunson
faked him. He almost in the middle of the floor
and Thompson almost went into the sideline.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
That was Wow, that was a cuckback.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
Yeah, its just me? Or did that not sound like
Iron Eagle on TNTL.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Oh absolutely, especially with the little joker like or maybe
it was Tiger.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
The how high you got up with your your voice there?
Fifteen to thirty three on the night three of ten
from three point range, that's the one that matters. He's
up to forty for the night. Uh, to offset your
really huge contributions from the bench six wards.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
From I'll tell you man, I mean all I read,
but oh, so are Thomson?
Speaker 4 (20:09):
How great he is? Great defender? Yeah? I seriously middle
of the court.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Jalen Brunson crossover fake and he really almost falls all
the way out of bounds. And Brunson has a wide
open three. And this is where we sit right now.
One's sixteen, one thirteen, four point three seconds left. The
Pistons will inbound. They absolutely have to take a three.
There's oh my god, they we'll see. No, I'm ahead
of you, Frostburg.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I know that. See not my first road.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
You did ruined it for everybody here too.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
How do I ruin it for everybody? All the Pistons
throw it out of bounds. They don't get a last
second three Malik Beasley, who had six threes in the
first and Gary Trent it goes off.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
His hands and out of bounds. The Knicks inbound and
it is over.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Go New York, Go New York, Go Go New York,
Go New York.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Go Go New York, Go New York.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Go New York.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
The second round of the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
The championship in the first round.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, justin I'm I'm all the way
up here, still in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
And I'm also counts all the.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
Way out of the playoffs. I really can't hear you
because you're out of the place.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Got the seventeen playoffs?
Speaker 1 (21:21):
I'm would you hang an ist semi final banners that
he got to seventeen.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
But yeah, the the movie made on Thompson, it looked
like a video game glitch, or that he hit a
skin of ice and just kept skidding.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
I mean that was his shoes.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Either way.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
We get the the Gary Trent and Junior reducts on
the ball going out of bounds. Can't even get a
shot off on that final possession. Nick's escaped one of
those Hey, let's get some quick handshakes and get the
hell out of here while the getting's good.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
Who do they pay next?
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Now?
Speaker 1 (22:02):
I I'll worry about that tomorrow. I'll worry about the
Celtics tomorrow. I'll worry about that tomorrow. But I do
want to say here because I do want I would
be fair. I wouldn't be fair if I wouldn't say this.
I know everything I said, you know going up to
that last shot and watched Jalen Brunson put Thompson to
the sideline. I mean, it's an incredible fake. But I
do want to say this. Not I'm not as unhappy
(22:23):
that the Knicks didn't move the ball around in that
last possession. Okay, I'm I wasn't that unhappy that they
didn't move the ball and Jalen Brunson took that latch.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
I was not.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
I know I was angry before I was angry for
minutes ago. Maybe it's a little too My point is
still relevant, my point still works, but I'm not nearly
as as as worked up about it as I was.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
I'm okay holding onto the ball.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Well, there's a couple of things I want. First, I
need a still of Brunson and uh Karl Anthony Towns,
who was the most thankful man uh in all of
the United States, especially uh New York City because he
saved him after that ten point follow out performance.
Speaker 7 (23:05):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
The other is I want the overhead shot as the
ball goes up, because I think it was a lot
of ball watch. I don't think anybody was coming for
a rebound.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
If that didn't go in, it was is he gonna
hit it?
Speaker 4 (23:18):
It's almost like when you when you.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
It's almost like in a movie where like in one
of those comedy move comedy action movies where a guy
is is like coming at somebody, like with a gun
or a big weapon and then they get like ten
feet away and people just start diving out of the
way like he's not even close and he's diving out.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
Of the way. That's look like that. That's what jaylen
Brunson did to Thompson right there.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
Yeah, he traveled.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Oh man, he did not travel. He did not travel.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
I mean, we could call palming or carrying out almost
every possession in the NBA. Yeah, it's just a matter
of whether you want to do it. Now, that would
have been ballsy all of a sudden, the official Nope, palming.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Whoa whoa?
Speaker 6 (23:58):
Jason, I do have the final hall on MSG next TV.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
Oh you do?
Speaker 5 (24:04):
How many bangs do you think Mike Breen got.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
In all that?
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Hang on?
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Hang on?
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Can he still do that? I mean, when it's a bang,
it's good.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
When it's specially it's a double bang, I'm gonna say
this is a triple bang.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
That's a whole other genre later in the show, Yeah,
I mean that's too early for that.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Hey, what's on Max? Later on tonight? Since harmon? Why
oh triple bang is on Max?
Speaker 2 (24:27):
I gotta w whoa whoa?
Speaker 4 (24:29):
And it's it's just YouTube videos of Mike Breen calls.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Bang Bang Bang, I paid nine ninety nine for.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
This, I don't want that comes out, and then the
thing says, bang.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Look at a bugs Buddy cartoon.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
There is also likely a market for people to just
sit around and listen to Mike Green call, Oh.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
Yeah, I would watch I'd watch that. So do we
do we have the final call? Frostberg? Do we have
the call of that?
Speaker 5 (24:54):
So you're going triple bank?
Speaker 4 (24:56):
I'm saying absolutely, triple bank.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Harmon, I gotta get four.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
You think it's a quadruplele Yeah, the knicks are just
over the top.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Oh okay, all right, let's say quadr I'll say triple bang.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
I mean Berman was a back back. I mean, come on,
bring care bringing max it.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Okay, all right, all right, so triple bang, quadruple bang.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Let's hear how many bangs freaking bound to Brunson. You
gotta be careful with the ball.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Chopin's got those long arms.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Down in twelve seconds. They can't a defense.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Brunts and holding. It's trying to win till the end.
Bronson bunch up a three dang bang.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Jalen brunch A EPs the three.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Oh, just a double bank.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Since I guess it's because it's only the first round.
You can't expend himself too much or too early.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Okay, ma, I think, yeah, I gotta say something. He
has nothing left for the third round. Okay, I'm with
you on that.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
I can see that, you know.
Speaker 5 (25:53):
I mean of that highlight the Kings and oiler scored
four goals.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
It is a pretty insane game.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
That will watching it. He got fourteen minutes left in
the first it's two two.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Oh man, I'll tell you that last was that that
reminds me of that that scene from Top Gun. You know,
Brun's watching Brunston and Thompson when when they're talking about
when they all got got by Viper and in the
and they're in the locker room and they go, we
went like this. He went like this. I said to Hollywood,
where'd he go? And Hollywood said, where did who go?
(26:23):
That was Thompson right there, a Hollywood and a Wolf Ben.
Oh was so good, so so good?
Speaker 2 (26:33):
All right?
Speaker 3 (26:33):
So does Tims get to keep his job? Eight seven
seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Where do go? Exit?
Speaker 6 (26:44):
Out?
Speaker 4 (26:44):
About a Fresca exit swollen dome?
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Jason Smith Mike Garment Live from the tire rack dot
Com studios time out to find out what's trending in
the wide world of sports. From a guy who has
been called the Jalen Brunson of Fox Sports Radio. He
takes every shot at the.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
End of the game. Who was around him? It's Steve
the Sager man.
Speaker 8 (27:03):
I wish I could sound like Steve de Sager, But yes, yes, many.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
I knew it was you, and I sounded like he did.
And I'm sorry about that.
Speaker 8 (27:12):
No, yeah, no, I remember yesterday when I was like,
let's do it again tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Yeah, you have.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
In fairness, you have done that before and then not
been here the following that.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
Not in last minute, and no, I mean not in last.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
Minute, monsy. You know what The best part about this
is what we told him. It was you.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Oh perfect, even better, he could shake you.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
You were one of the same.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Doug always like Dan Byer.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
It's like, Hi, Doug, it's me, It's me. It's always me, Mancy.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
I saw you there, Thank you to see it, thank
you all goods to a high off to that three.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Can I get it?
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Yeah, he's not going to know anything else we say.
The rest of the night, I have done. I agree.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
I wouldn't listen to anything either. I don't blame him.
Speaker 8 (27:51):
I mean, we heard the TNT call. Why don't we
hear the Knicks radio call.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Backing down a sorry top But at the logo plenty
of time left, we're tied at one thirteen.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Here in game six, Brunson between the lex field but
gets rid of Thompson walk up reporter kick got it.
The clutch player of the year will not beat any.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Jalen Bruntson with four point three puts the list in
front one sixteen, O one to thirteen.
Speaker 8 (28:15):
Yeah, you heard it on the Knicks radio network. He
was clutching that moment. But leading up to that shot,
he missed a couple and I feel like mckel bridges
has to get some credit. He hit that late tip
in off of a Brunson miss to tie the game
with thirty five seconds left. Then Brunson does hit the
game winner. Detroit doesn't get a final shot off. In fact,
they don't even really get a possession with the four
(28:37):
seconds that they had left. The Knicks eliminate the Pistons
with a one sixteen to one thirteen win over the Pistons.
In Game six, Jalen Brunson had fifteen points in the
first quarter ended with forty points and seven assists and
the game winner. And yes, the Knicks are gonna face
the Celtics in the second round. But like Jason Smith said,
why worry about that? Now, enjoy the win, accellent sweeps.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
The night is the night. Yeah, there was one time.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
You want to go so one time when the Jets
won the a f C East in two thousand and two.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
I'm going back twenty three because I don't have a lot.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Of hair, no hair at that point. We got to
get I was.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
It was.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
It was at the end of the last of my
hair before I shaved my head. And we were in
Pam and I were in Michigan and Christmas visiting her.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Oh h great hair. He looked like that was great man.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
I was like, he had crazy curly.
Speaker 8 (29:32):
Really, I need to seek sry flat top I had.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
I look great.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
And we go out to watch It was Sunday Night
football and it was the Jets and the Patriots, right,
and it was the year after Brady won the Super
Bowl and the Jets win the a f C East
and they beat the Patriots and it's a huge thing.
And we're out having having a few drinks and I'm like, oh,
we just won the Oh my god. I was so
bleep and excited. And Pam goes, okay, it's midnight.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
We should go home.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
I go, we should go and she goes, well, we
can go out tomorrow night. We got you know, we
got this going on early. I go, tonight is the night.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
You'll go home. I'll take a cab home. This is
the night right now, this is the night. She was like, oh, okay,
we'll stay, we'll stay. We stayed, and we stayed, and
I close that bar. Go New York, Go New York. Coat,
go New York, Go New York. Goat I did twenty
three years ago.
Speaker 8 (30:21):
I hope I am feeling as good as you are
by the end of this Clippers Nuggets game. Right now,
Denver is up though twenty two to eighteen, still the
first quarter, so plenty of game left. Norman Powell though
they gave a Norman Powell shirt today at Into It Dome,
and he's a leading scorer. He's got six points. Jamal
Murray's got nine points for Denver. Another elimination game here
(30:42):
in the NBA playoffs, This one is for the Clippers,
but plenty of game left in the NHL Playoffs, the
Avalanche beating the Stars two.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Zero after the first period.
Speaker 8 (30:52):
Halfway through the first period, the Kings and the Oilers
are tied it to a piece, while the Maple Leaves
and the Golden Knights are advancing to the next round.
Maple he eliminated the Senators. Golden Knights eliminated the wild
In Major League Baseball, we got a couple games going on.
Angels are up on the Tigers at home three to two.
Five homers have been hitting this game so far. It's
the bottom of the fourth inning. The Rockies and the
(31:12):
Giants are tied at one apiece. The bottom of the
fourth is about to start in San Francisco and Vladimir
Guerrero Junior hit the game winning three run shot for
the Blue Jays as they took down the Red Sox
four to two.
Speaker 5 (31:23):
Back to you, my internet is slow. Here. Did the
Diamondbacks play today?
Speaker 8 (31:28):
Did did Diamondbacks play today?
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (31:30):
They did?
Speaker 4 (31:31):
They did.
Speaker 8 (31:31):
Oh you want me to mention that right now?
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Okay, listen, I have no time. I have no time
for that today.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Right I had bigger fish to fry, and we fried
that fish.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
And washing the hit home runs.
Speaker 6 (31:41):
Yes, yes, I.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Said we should have won, and we didn't, and Montantos
needs to sit down for like three weeks. But it
doesn't matter because the next one I have much bigger
fish to fry tonight.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
On this mon Sono very defensive when being asked about
pressure and stuff. So I mean there's still cracks in
the armor.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm worried about our four game
lead the National League East. Oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Plenty of time for that to dissipate.
Speaker 8 (32:04):
Oh yeah, remember April, baseball doesn't matter, doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
When you have the best record in baseball.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
Yeah exactly. That sounds like a good poll question. Or
suck it for call that's no longer now by the way,
well we have to.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Like I said, tonight doesn't matter tonight, the next one
we've got tonight, there is no baseball tonight because the
knixt one, there's no baseball tonight.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
Go New York, Go do your a game.

lock of the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Final NBA Game
of the Night? Are we in a close out game?
Denver and the Clippers? End of the first quarter? Clippers
at home trying to extend the series down twenty eight
(33:26):
twenty five? What about the other game? Oh glad you asked?
That brings us to the play of the day. For

When you hit a big three to send your team
with the second round of the playoffs, you get to
be the play of the day.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
Can bound to Brunson.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
He's gotta be careful with the ball Toopson's got those
long arms.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
Down a twelve seconds Brunson holding Nick's trying to wait
un till the end.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Brunson bunch up a three Dang dang Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
It's the three Knicks.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
TV on the call, make it a forty spot for
Jalen Brunson, the greatest player.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
In the history of the NBA. And the Knicks go
on to the second round. They will take on the Celtics.
They win it over the Pistons one sixteen, one thirteen.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
And I know, Mike, I know. I say all the
time the Knicks offense bogs down at the end of games.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
They don't.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
It's frustrating as hell. You have a lot of players
that can make shots, but yet it's always Brunson isolated.
And he's a smaller players. He has a little bit
more difficulty getting a shot off. That he gets more
shots off than Steph Curry does. But I will say
I am very upset about that. I am I'm very
very angry about that.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Okay, But in the immortal words of Kurt Russell and miracle.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
But not tonight.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Okay, yeah, I just I was waiting for you.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
I'm under a breath there so I can refute the
whole greatest player of all time might be the greatest.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Player of the moment.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
For a while, my dad was the greatest scorer in
high school basketball in Chicago Catholic League.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
But at the time they had two leagues.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
One was five to nine and under, the other was
five to nine and taller. So he was a prolific
scorer at the five to nine and under category. And
then the three point shot showed up, and then well
that was the.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
End of that.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
But all of that to say good on Brunson, this
is more. You can't just go from the referendum on
where Lebron fell after last night's loss in the top
ten crowning Jalen Brunson the greatest of all time, And
I mean.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
Come on, he is the great Look nine of us
times do you take that shot?
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Nine out of ten times it bounces off the iron,
We go to home.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
That's not true.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
He had no defender anywhere in his field of vision.
But not to that was like noting the ball. You
know why Herb Brooks thing.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Well, you start all the time, I'm going by Herb
Brooks and blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Now I sound like Mike North and all jacked up.
You keep interrupting my Herb Brooks. I'm bang Mike Harmon,
I'm jacked up about it.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Okay, Herb go ahead, good No no, no, no, it's over.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
No no, now it's over. No no, no, moment's over now.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Moments over when you suddenly start channeling the voices in
your head. Sometimes I don't know whether you're doing a
bit or you want to fight, or what you're doing
moments over and coming off of this Nicks win, I
don't know when we're gonna get back to, uh, Jason
Smith's sanity level.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
You just went in full Chicago. We're gonna get back
to Jason Smith's sanity level. You guys are all preparing
for next week.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
I'm heading home, so I my voice is already there
because I'm having conversations.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
You guys are all gonna get the needle because I'm
got a Chicago accent in New York.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
It's gonna be a big needle for all of you. Uh.
So there is the play of the day.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
We'll have more on the Knicks Piston game coming up
in a bit, but forty for Jalen Brunson Nixon Celtics
in the second round, and oh boy, that is appointment television.
Now to the day after for the Lakers, there's a
lot to get to with them. They get eliminated late
last night. We spent the final hour of the show
talking about it. What is next for them? And they
(37:18):
did their end of the season, which really was kind
of weird, like, hey, them, next morning, we're doing our
whole end of season thing and we're leaving. Not going
to be a couple of days. We wait a day,
we do it on Saturday. We just kind of leave. No, no, no,
we're doing next morning. We're doing our end of the
season a thing, and now we're all leaving. And JJ
Reddick had one big message for the Lakers in the
(37:39):
off season, but his message seems like it's more for
one person the entire team.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Take a listen.
Speaker 7 (37:45):
I'll start with the off season and the work that's
required in an off season to be in championship shape.
And you know, we have a ways to go as
a roster, and certainly there are individuals that were in
phenomenal shape. There's certainly other ones that could have been
(38:05):
in better shape. That's where my mind goes immediately, is
you know, we have to get in championship shape.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
His name is Luca. He was not in shape at all.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Now here's the good news, right, because I have good news,
you think I'm gonna say, oh, yeah, Luca not in shape.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
One of the reasons that the one of the main
reasons that the Mavericks didn't want to I wanted to
wind up trading Luka Doncic and didn't want to give
him a three hundred million dollar extension, is because he
never stayed in shape, didn't seem like he wanted to
stay in shape. Coming off the finals, he gets hurt,
he is out of shape, and they had had enough, right,
they had years to try to get him in shape,
and they said, Okay, when you're in your early twenties,
(38:43):
it's going to be all right, but you don't take
care of your body, We're not going to give you
three hundred million dollars. But this is where things get
better for the Lakers, right, because I have no doubt,
no doubt that this offseason Luka Doncic is going to
train and his body's going to look different by the
time we see him again on a basketball corp when
it counts, and the Lakers are going to make sure
to be in charge of that because Luca knows. Okay,
(39:05):
I kind of ran things in Dallas, right, I was
the real owner I except, you know, Niko had the
power to treat me.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
But I ran things.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
I didn't have to do what I didn't want to do,
and I didn't want to stay in shape. I wanted
to continue to hang out and drink beer and smoke
huka whatever it was.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
But now it's different. Now the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
You want that big contract, and you already lost over
one hundred million dollars what the Lakers can give you.
You got a couple of years left. The Lakers aren't
going to extend you right now. You need to show
that you're going to take care of your body. The
Lakers will of course pay you. You're one of the
top three most talented players in the game. But I
have no doubt because it's the change of scenery and
the change of expectation, We're going to see a different
(39:44):
Luka Doncic in mentality, stamina, and body when the Lakers
play again in the fall.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
So it's the off season.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Like Sammy Sosa coming back all those years ago looking
like he was I don't know, Steve Rodgers on the
super serum.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
And he's thin, he's lean.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
What happened that guy's jack he trained, set his prayers
and ate his vitamins or something like that. Look, we'll
get to the Lebron being glib and kind of being
a jackass at every turn last night, because that came
out way too late. Ben was, you know, into full
celebration mode of of the Lakers lost there. But you're
missing what JJ Redick was really saying there. Yeah, it
(40:23):
might have been a message to Luca Dancis. It's what
he's he's really telling you. He did his theory testing
on the twenty four minutes of all five starters in
Game four, and he think that's a viable solution. So
everybody needs to be in shape because he's gonna run
that back next year as often as he can.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Hey, look, he's going full Thibodeau.
Speaker 4 (40:42):
I see what Tips is doing with the starters. I
want to do the same thing here. Hold on, hold on,
hold on.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
He's also done a lot of excuse making something he
called out coach after coach when he was a member
of the media.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Hi, JJ, you'll see Lebron and Dantich on Venice Beach
like Rocky and Apollo and Rocky three when when Apollo's
training and running up in out. Maybe we'll do it tomorrow,
don't you me Never. Big story out of the NFL
is next chasing a bike Fox.
Speaker 4 (41:07):
Yeah, it's a happy night. The next one
