(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Ed is claiming his seat. Greetings,
welcome in a big holiday Tuesday night, a version of
Carmen getting here in Southern California, which means I got
to listen to a lot of tasty tunes and think
about hot take nonsense for a long, long while while

(00:44):
my buddy Dan Buyer was getting ready for the show.
No Jason Smith. He's off in Hawaii celebrating, Uh, I
don't know the demise of the Jets season, perhaps maybe
at the Molly Invitational and maybe taking that in. Yeah,
I'm gonna go out and let me say no, Okay,
all right, I'm gonna I'm gonna guess he is found
a place where he can eat some over price fast

(01:05):
food and lounge around as the pastiest guy on the beach.
My Invitational is one of those unique sporting events that
I would like to attend at least at one point,
not you know, a marquee top of the line one,
but I would like to check one out. It is
always a classic. As we get to this Thanksgiving week,

(01:25):
wherever you're at, we appreciate you being part of the
extended family here at Fox Sports Radio. Highways and by ways,
be safe, be smart, uh and and get there safely.
If you still have some time, well, we'll talk to
you from our our good folks at tire Irac. We're
broadcasting from the tire ract dot Com studios. Tiract dot
com will help you get there and on match selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection and over ten

(01:48):
thousand recommended installers. Tire act dot com the way tire
buying should be. Well, Dan, another beautiful night across the
sporting universe. A lot of activity going on. The World Cup.
I fell asleep thinking Argentina was gonna roll over Saudi
Arabia after some early dominance. I saw the second goal
go in. I'm like, I'm gonna roll over, Go to bed.

(02:10):
They disallowed it and then they lose outright eighteen one
Saudi Arabia and then they immediately declared tomorrow and national holidays.
So that's how your World Cup world is going. I
I will gladly say, uh, not as a sports fan,
but just as someone who uh needs a lot of sleep.

(02:30):
Missed every minute of it live well by time we
got off the the I Want Reflex podcast and I
drove home last night. You can download that wherever you
get your audio. By the way, give it five stars,
give it out, give the link in a holiday card,
and evangelize. Uh. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
I think it absolves you from having to buy a gift.
But yeah, I got home and you know you're wired

(02:52):
from yelling for four hours and then doing the podcast
and having some great conversation with you and our guy
Ryan Burrshegar. I was up in it, awake at least
for the first a few minutes of it, which I
don't know if it would made me happy or made
me sad, because live sporting events at any point in
the in the day is usually a win. It was.
I'll tell you what. I did not expect to see that,

(03:13):
And sometimes what happens is your timeline on Twitter doesn't
catch up on to the life that you get, like
the older tweets first, you know what I mean, and
so um when you see Saudi Arabia. The first tweet
that I saw is wow, Saudi Arabia pulls even with Argentina.
And it's so random that it just popped up. And

(03:36):
then it took me a little while to scroll through
because Twitter is usually the first thing that I opened,
as awful as that is. And then all of a sudden,
you know, you're you're talking your as you said, you know,
one of the greatest step sets we've ever seen in
World Cup history to actually finish it off in just
a few minutes later that there was a second goal.
But just randomly the tweet shows up and I can't
even remember who sent it, but I'm just thinking, okay,

(03:57):
one one, maybe draw. Maybe at some point later on
Argentina ends up winning, but yeah, not the case at all.
And then the jokes and the tweets, uh and text
that I got coming from the homeland of Chicago because
Poland and Mexico played people joking about how clear the
roads were. Because everybody stayed home or found themselves in

(04:18):
a large viewing party, which is cool. And they had
a huge viewing party here in southern California at Bank
of California Stadium for what ended up being a scoreless
tie nil nil uh and a choa with the big
save of a penalty kick, so I mean off of Lewandowski,
So I mean just an amazing run France with some

(04:39):
early struggles but eventually wins for one but a big
day in the World Cup. And then we move into
other things where we like rankings and grids and brackets
and everything. And that's the latest in the college football
playoff rankings tonight, Dan and the top the the leader board,
no surprises. Everybody stays and and stands pat so that

(05:00):
that's fine and everybody can breathe a sigh of relief.
But what happens after the top four? For those kind
of paying attention to Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and TCU.
We have l s U nine and two sitting in
that five hole USC at six Alabama, the Crimson Tide
sitting there at nine and two in the number seven slot.

(05:22):
Clemson wondering which Spencer Rattler is gonna show up this
week to face them? Right Tennon, what a week ago,
a week ago that was kind of thought. It was
like a whole hum rivalry game. And now clubs, it's like, no,
this could strengthen our resume. You know, this is really good.
This is really good. And I didn't think Clemson at

(05:42):
the shot a week ago. I didn't think that any
chance to get into the playoff. And that may be wrong.
Open the door certainly, yeah, I mean because you got
this game and then you've got North Carolina. So they
had hoped that they'd be rolling in on a dominant path,
but they lost to Georgia Tech took a little win
out of the sales of all the Drake May profiles
you've been seeing for the last couple of weeks as well.

(06:05):
But still a game on the slate that has some
peril to it, but still some gravitaze, but not to
the same level that it did Dan, but l s
u U SC Alabama. As you roll through, I thought
USC based on its dominance, the fact that they are
on a one loss team and you've got forty plus

(06:27):
points at all but two games would get them to
the number five slot. Now we start getting into strength
of schedule and let's do the comparisons of conferences. But
going into the quality wins column, is is where USC
takes it. Uh in the backside here, uh, you know,

(06:47):
with the kick in the and the slats as it were,
even though you've got Caleb Williams and everything else that
you just you know, you take that shove and and
that's why you get moved down to six. I would
even there, you know, or wins. The forty point thing
is is very glamorous. But when you look at the
winds that they they had, and USC is benefiting from

(07:10):
a little something that Alabama is also benefiting from the
TCU For some reason, it's being held against them. Even
on the after the selection of these rankings and asking
why TCU is fourth. You know, the point was brought
up off this is a team that's had some come
from behind winds. The word that I like in that

(07:33):
sentence is wins. And people are focusing on the come
from behind part. But even if you would look at
USC and you're talking about their close games or or
or their forty point games, there's close games to them,
and organ State's pretty good team only beat them by three.
They beat Arizona beat u c L a couple of
weeks ago. I ended up beating them by eight. Um,

(07:54):
you know, so it's not like, you know, they beat
Cal by six. So this isn't This isn't like a
you know, just because you roll Colorado, everybody rolls Colorado. Um,
you know, it's not. I just I don't like how
TCU it's being held against them because they needed a
last second field goal to beat Baylor, and I just
think like, like, well, you know what, Michigan needed a

(08:17):
field goal late to beat Illinois at home. Controversial. I
wanted that. Yeah, yeah, So it just to me is
a real like double standard when we when we talk
about these schools and we talk about you know, USC's
resumes and the one loss is probably the biggest, you
know one of all. But here an Alabama team is
nine and two, and we want to point out, and

(08:39):
it was even set on the Selection show, this is
an Alabama team that lost two games in the final
play of the game. Well what about the time when
they barely slip by Texas in September, Or what about
the time Texas A and M had a chance to
beat Alabama late? You know, like those things aren't brought
up in the conversation, but for some reason, they're always

(08:59):
brought up with CU like I thought, TC you should
have been third in the rankings. Really, I mean a
road win at Baylor on the last second, to me
is more impressive than Michigan surviving at home against Illinois.
Pretty good Illinois team, But I don't know how much
different there is between Illinois and Baylor. So if you're
really trying to parse it out, you look at Michigan
schedule and you look at t c U S. TC
has got a much better resume, but we're holding things

(09:20):
against them that we don't hold against other teams. And
that goes back to your point about USC IS. We
get so wrapped up of them scoring forty points, but really,
how dominant are they with this sort of schedule that
they've played so far. Well, that day you had a
loss to number twenty Utah, Yeah, it's at one point loss,
but a loss the loss and that and that's what
we get into some of the nonsensical stuff of when
you took a loss. Right if you lose, you lose.

(09:43):
I don't care if it's in mid September or December
three in the conference title games. You took a loss
and whatever happens in between, because right now the cell
job is Look how good Notre Dame is, and look
how they're surging now, and that's all any good. They
still have three losses. So while it's a good win

(10:04):
and a resume booster, that should not be the thing
that pushes you over the top in any type of argument,
given the fact that right now you're one in one
in games against you know, top twenty teams. Right with
the win against U C l A again a narrow win.
What a thriller that was Saturday night. I was sitting
waiting to watch the Elton John Show at Dodger Stadium

(10:26):
with my kids and like, what are you doing? Like,
come on, it's shows about certain like it's um U
s C U C l A. And I had people
looking over my shoulder watching the game. Uh so, yeah,
we got we got a good dual screen experience. But
you know, going back to Alabama, the win last week
was not one that was terribly impressive. Right, they had

(10:48):
to fight tooth and dail to come back to win
that one by six, being a heavily favored So you
go through all the schedules and then you get into
L s U, which is a whole other thing, right,
A bye week, last week against you A B. Sorry
for all you U A B alums out there, but
you've got the thumping they took against Tennessee, wins against

(11:09):
Old Miss and Alabama, and then this week you're at
struggling Texas A and M squad with that date with
Georgia looming out there in the horizon, and in all
this this stuff kind of works itself out, Mike, you know,
I mean, the Ohio State Michigan game on Saturday should

(11:29):
decide something and may not. It may well it should. Um,
it's just a matter of how close the game is.
We can end up, you know, end up surviving if
there is chaos throughout college football. Yeah, and I think
that's the largest thing. How close is that game? Right,
Michigan goes and gets beaten, what is it? A seven

(11:51):
and a half point in line? I think as we
look at that look ahead here coming into the weekend,
Alabama's favored by twenty two over Auburn l s U
is a ten point favorite against A and M on
the road, and then USC is a five point favorite
against number fifteen Notre Dame here in southern California. So

(12:11):
we we have those games on the horizon. But yeah,
the Ohio State Michigan one, I think holds so much
value based on just margin of victory. Yeah, and realistically,
you know, and I know you just brought up Notre
Dame a little bit earlier, UM, and maybe why that
shouldn't be the entire resume builder. But if we are

(12:32):
in a situation where TCU ends up losing, USC ends
up losing, and now you do have a sale one
loss Ohio State team and that loss being to Michigan,
now the question comes in, all right, can you take
a non conference champion with the one loss? You know,
how does their resume stack up? Now, it's a home game,
and I just a favorite home games, Mike, more than

(12:54):
to do U road game. If you win a road game,
it's a bigger deal to me obviously than than just
winning a home game. So if all Ohio Ohio State
lost at home to Michigan on on Saturday, that's a
little tougher one, um as opposed to them losing in
ann Arbor for their resume. But you would at least
have that for Ohio State to put up against if

(13:14):
it were a two loss USC team, And you know,
depending on what happens, with l s U. If Georgia
would beat them, they'd be out of the picture. You'd
have to debate on whether one lost Clemson team would
be more worthy UH in the A C C than
to what Ohio State did in the Big ten. And
so those those are just some of the dilemmas. And
it doesn't matter what TCU really at number four. But

(13:36):
I just think the optics of the committee, it makes
them look bad when they put them at four. And
it may look better on the graphics on the screen
when you see Ohio State in Michigan play two versus
three as opposed to two verses four. But I thought
we were gonna get a one versus two with Tennessee
and Alabama, and we didn't get that earlier on in
the in the excuse me Tennessee in Georgia, but we
didn't get that, you know at the time, was one

(13:58):
versus three with Tennessee at the one at the time.
But probably not a lot to really argue about. But
I just think that sometimes they say one thing for
one school and it just is not applied to about
three or four others in the rankings, you know, And
that's just it. It's about having a better pr person
to hammer it all down. These are the speaking points.

(14:19):
Make sure we're comparing apples to apples. Yeah, that's really
all it is, because we understand. Look, we're not idiots.
It's TV show, and you're trying in the end to
get the biggest audience that you possibly can based on
the teams that are available, which is why USC that
was one of the wildcard factors of whether they'd be
five or six this time out. But but it's just

(14:42):
it's just that possibility because with TCU, there's always that
sinking feeling in my stomach and I've voiced it for
the last couple of weeks, Dan is that no matter
what that there might be, that school from the big
conference and no Sunny Dikes has addressed us a few
times to be like, look, all I can do is win.
What what they're gonna do, what people are gonna say,

(15:03):
I can't, I can't control it, and I appreciate that.
And all they've done is gone out win number eighteen,
Oklahoma number nineteen, Kansas number eight Oklahoma State, number seventeen,
Kansas State. Those were four wins in a row. You
may not like like them stylistically, too bad and that
everybody thought Texas was gonna roll them. They were seven
and a half point favorite, and then what happened. Oh

(15:24):
the defense showed up and absolutely clamped down for a
seventeen ten win. Did it have great style, No, but
they did what they needed to and the component of
the squad that had kind of been brushed aside. Yeah yeah, yeah.
They scored points and they allowed score. You know, they
went on the road and they handled the team that
everybody decided was the greatest thing. And the only game

(15:47):
they probably watched them was that narrow lost to Alabama. Yeah,
it's it's funny. And how we give Alabama, Well, if
they just stop LSU on that on that play, they
win that game, or if uh, you know, Tennessee doesn't
make that field goal. But but then we say, well, yeah,

(16:08):
tc you need they needed to run their field goal.
You didn't on the field. You know, that's how they
needed to be Baylor. I mean they said to run
out there and kick a luggy field goal. I mean, like,
it's just so it's so not fair to TCU. And
then when you look at it, they're gonna get a
better opponent in the Big Twelve title game. Than Clemson
will in the a C C Title game, especially they

(16:29):
have to play Kansas State. You know, so so like
there's there's another resume thing for for TCU. Heck, even
did they lose, maybe they should get in, Mike. I mean, seriously,
we're breaking it down for real. For what tc was accomplished,
the company would make it think like they've accomplished nothing.
I'm gonna go to the horn Frog's web store right now.

It's just a lot of a lot of use added

(17:59):
adding some egg tru search terms and confusion along the way.
Just go for the lead singer and see what they've
done solo. That's it. I'm done with you all. Uh. Look,
last night not a great game. Second half. For the
third straight week, the forty Niners shut out their opponent
thirty ten. Your final trace McSorley came in. Everybody saw

(18:20):
the viral videos of errant passes six and ten fifty
nine yards, the pick McCoy with the interception off the
hands of James Conner when they were still competitive in
that first half, Garoppolo goes for two and four. You
saw Brock Purdy come in and again a video scene
around the world of going to handoff to the guy

(18:41):
running behind him. Uh. It really uh chaos. We talked
about it a little bit on the I Watcher Flex
podcast for the week of how Elijah Mitchell getting some
extra time uh late in the game saved me from
elimination uh and survival for one more week, even though
it was a miserable experience and some many bad choices.

(19:01):
It's the story of my life. Dan, I'm just gonna
start a podcast called bad Choices or My Bad Pads
or something like that. Would be easy to get guests,
you know, because everybody's made them. Well, but that's the
thought is that you know, we'll we'll get start small, localized,
and then start building up and and go after some
big fish with the left writing campaign. I used to

(19:23):
say Levian Bell led the NFL and bad decisions, but
he's no longer in the NFL because they're always seemed
to be turning down contract extensions, being busted with weed
outside the stadium. Well, now he's a boxer, so yes,
I don't know if that's a good or bad decision
long term, but uh, in the in the moment, there
he is. It seems like a pretty cool guy. But

(19:44):
you just I just couldn't couldn't defend a lot of
the decisions at times when it come to when it
came to love bell now in the end and be
true to thyself and try to do no harm. I
guess is what it is. Uh So he and his
inner circle have to figure that out. But coming out
of the San Francisco Way in now winners of three straight,
six and four on the season. You and I talked

(20:04):
extensively last appearances here on the Jason s mit Show
with me Mike Carman, when you filled in graciously last
time obviously on the podcast McCaffrey coming in. I still
like Jeff Wilson um and I think he's a big
deal down in Miami. But while we stay on the
forty niners, the coronation has begun, and Elijah Mitchell being healthy,

(20:26):
absolutely monstrous, George Kittle with the luchador mask, a couple
of touchdowns, guys making business decisions instead of trying to
shove him out abound. All of those things come into play.
But suddenly we discounted and erased, and I think very
much in tandem with the conversation we just had about
college football, the picking and choosing of good, bad and

(20:47):
ugly when it comes down to because his Arizona team
is terrible. Yeah, we're in seven DeAndre Hopkins. Uh. A
lot of fighting with the secondary of of San Francisco,
especially in the post game. But Philadelphia and still nine
and one, Dallas is seven and three. Minnesota, Yeah they
got thumped, but there's still eight and two. Uh. And

(21:08):
then all right, you can pick and choose what you
like for that. Seattle still six and four. That team
is not going away. There. There's something, some taflon something
with Kyle Shanahan and the forty Niners that makes them
so immune from any sort of it's not even criticism
like like there is As you said, we just talked

(21:29):
about why, you know, why don't we treat TCU the
way we do in the college football rankings when we're
giving us C and Alabama the love for doing the
same thing that that TCU is doing. Um, except TCU
is just winning. In the forty Niners are a six
and four ball club right now that beat a team
on a neutral field where they had a lot of

(21:50):
fans of their own at the game like that, we're
playing against the backup quarterback. So the forty Niners accomplished
on Monday, night, and now it's you know, we're anointing
them the kings of the NFC, and I'm I'm not
saying that they're they're not going to but again, like
we ripped Philadelphia when they lose a game to the

(22:10):
Commanders and we don't like how they play, or if
Dallas does something that's maybe a little off putting, will
you know, we'll take them and immediately shove them in
the corner for you know, Dallas can't do it, same
old cowboys, but the forty Niners, for some reason, can
do something so little and all of a sudden it
is like, my goodness, nothing stopping the forty nine. Nothing,

(22:32):
nothing stopping, you know, Kyle Shanahan, and we haven't talked
a little bit about the pod last night, the conversations
that you've had in your show and in the shows
that I've had as well, of of just taking the
Rams and forty niners. Rams are having a bad year,
but much rather being a spot that the Rams were
over the last five years than than what the forty
Niners were. Yet for some reason, the forty Niners and

(22:52):
no pun intended like the Golden Child, like like there's
they can they could do no wrong of the eighties
get there, Like it took it to last night for
them to actually believe in with Seattle in the NFC West,
and they've got the tiebreaker because they went earlier in
San Francisco. But you know, they beat the Cardinals last night,
and we're ready to crown on the kings of the NFC.

(23:16):
Can we slowed down a little bit? Remember what happened
when they faced the Chiefs? You know, like, well, when
that's it right, it's it's a bit of that look
ahead of what they could be, which is funny because
three weeks ago is like, I don't know you made
that trade. I don't know if that guy is gonna
stay healthy. He never stays healthy. Referring of course to
Christian McCaffrey, but one of the great discussions that you
had to have on your draft day UH specials back

(23:37):
in the day before the season began. Hard to believe
we're already in Week twelve, Thanksgiving Day games and all that.
We'll get into a little fantasy waiver wire pickups, uh
and starts and sits for Week twelve later on in
the show. But to go through their schedule, they beat
the Rams twice the Rams stink. Okay, the Rams haven't
been good at all this year period like that. That

(23:59):
that is a declarative statement, if you want, you can
go so far as to put an exclamation point on
the back back end of it. That's how bad they've been.
And then they cut Darryl Henderson instead of Cam Akers.
What the hell is going on here in the decision making? Uh?
They beat the Seahawks, Okay, fine, going all the way
back to week two, and then you beat the Chargers sixteen,

(24:20):
playing without many of their starting offensive weapons and defensive components.
They beat the Panthers. Okay, great, If we're gonna do
the schedule thing again, the apples to apples thing, we're
looking for the committee in the college world, Dan, we
we apply here. And I'm not saying. Look, I'm a
big Jimmy g apologist and I have been forever. And

(24:43):
for Kyle Shanahan, congratulations to him. It's the first time
in his career he's actually above five hundred, Dan, He's
had six prior opportunities and has never been above five
hundred for his career. Lost his first game as the
head coach of the Niners with Carolina against Carolina should
say uh, and every opportunity after lost the game that

(25:04):
could have put him over last night finally hit that mark.
It's kudos to him. But again, we are always giving
Kyle Shanahan kudos because it is. It's amazing that we
don't talk about the Niners beating a Colt McCoy and
I don't know Trace McSorley got garbage town, so I'm

(25:25):
not including you know him in it, but we're we
don't criticize for that. But when we talk about the Eagles,
we said, well, they beat the Cowboys with Cooper Rush.
You know, that's that's that's who they ended they you
know that Cowboys didn't have their starting quarterback that game.
And then there you know, other great win that the
Eagles had was against Minnesota. And I'm not a believer

(25:47):
in Minnesota, but it seems like the Eagles aren't getting
enough credit for the win against Minnesota as much as
the forty Niners are getting the credit for their win
against the Cardinals or as you mentioned, the two wins
against the rams Um what about the one point lost
to Denver? You know, I mean, you know, we talked
about that the that was on Saturday Night Football, that

(26:12):
caused me to drink. It was so bad it caused
me to drink more. And the loss to Atlanta was
one of those. They were on the East coast for
two straight weeks and you could probably see a let down,
you know, like that that happens in the NFL. Actually,
I'm not gonna hold that against them, but come back,
you have Christian McCaffrey and the Chiefs come to town
and they absolutely boat Racy in the second half. We

(26:34):
completely forget about that because you want to know why, Mike,
because they destroyed Colt McCoy and the Cardinals in Mexico City.
Justin Herbert didn't even went who is he throwing too?
On on Sunday night when they played there was our guy,
Josh Palmer and yeah that's in Austin Old Yeah, what
is sixteen just I mean, it's it's just the love

(26:55):
that they end up getting. And maybe you believe in
their defense, and you should because it's a really good defense,
but it doesn't seem that's it. I think you you
brought up the point of McCaffrey, like the McCaffrey like
factor of us wanting to, you know, love that move
so much, and I think that just ends up. It's
one of the reasons. It plays into it. But we've
done this with the Niners and Kyle Shanahan for years. No,

(27:16):
you're a percent and I think you know, just done
on the overall the way we treat uh, the the
NFL right the early successes, it's the who did they play?
And that's certainly been it for Philly and dissecting it,
and part of it is the Philly factor because you know,
you can agitate a lot of people if you go
and cut them down. I mean, that's that's what it is. Uh,

(27:37):
never mind the fact that Washington is actually above five
right now and that was a backup quarterback technically that
they were playing with and then they got run over.
That's all finally good. But you play who who you're
playing on the schedule, and yes, we could do that
in the moment, but it seems like as soon as
we hit what is considered to be the halfway point
now it becomes a which team is on the surge

(27:58):
and let's try to jump and ride them for as
much content and we as we can. And like we
always talked about, there are coaches that are just favorites
in the media right, and we we. I can tell
you if two or three people I know in the
larger Fox universe that anything Kyle Shanahan does, you might
as well be spinning it into gold. Sure they did
the same thing for Matt Naggy, So it's no surprise

(28:20):
that Shannahan still get in the love. Why because he
still has a job. But it's that kind of thing.
I love how they run the football. I mean I
really really do, which is one of the reasons why
I didn't love the Christian McCaffrey thing. I think they
would have been just as dangerous with Jeff Wilson and
Elijah mitchell um. But they made the deal. They made
the deal, but I think it now it just also

(28:40):
then makes them now even that much more of a
teflon team that doesn't get the criticism. And hey, they
may go to the super Bowl. Let we go and
win the super Bowl. Absolutely, but we just again we
were treating teams differently when they're not doing things that are,
you know, that much different than each other. Amy Jimmy,

(29:01):
he's Dan Buyer. And for Jason Smith, pulling for your guy,
I'm pulling for Jimmy g he's a White Sox fan,
It's me him and like three other people. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app.
Welcome back in Fox Sports to Radio, The Jason Smith

(29:24):
Show with Me Mike Harmon. Jason out on vacation this week.
Send him a love letter at how about a fresco
if you feel compelled to. Maybe he's enjoying the he's
talking about walking the beach and evangelizing about Mike White.
And the sad thing is Dan he'd been calling for
that for a couple of weeks. So it's gonna be
the They're gonna make the playoffs on either Mike White
or Joe Flacco, and I'm gonna have to hear the

(29:47):
I hate to say I told you so nonsense, but
I will give him credit is that he called for
old Zach Wilson to get deposed weeks ago before thet
you know, only got his fill of the Jets. And
you know that Zack Wilson right now is not that guy.
So you get that if you watch him a lot.

(30:07):
I I joked, he looked like the guy. Um when
you play that electric game that you plugged in all
those years ago, and you set up the guys eleven
on eleven and then they'd vibrate forward to the side whatever,
and then sometimes your quarterback would just run around in
the circle. That's kind of the Zack Wilson and where
we're at in the process. I'm currently working on an

(30:27):
art project to emulate Dwayne Brown throwing his arms up
and discussed after a couple of plays and bat aaron
throws from Wilson this past week. Coming up in about
ten minutes from now, we'll talk about the recruiting process. No,
not at the collegiate level, but in the National Football League.
But I'd be remissed because you know, I love the
business of sports, Dan, and I'm really shocked that there

(30:52):
was a phrase, a term that was not that was
not claimed in all of our sports fandom. Win City.
The trademark has been filed acclaimed by the Raiders. Now
they're three and seven, so all the punch lines are there,

(31:13):
but how wind City was not already claimed. So they
want to use it as a slogan and then put
on team merchandise everything from tote bags and and it's
because you gotta do category for category. I've filed trademarks before.
It's a pain in the neck. Um. But as it's
here in the us p t O, the Patent and

(31:33):
Trademark Office, Uh, football gloves workout gloves uh. And then
entertainment services in the nature and professional football games and
exhibitions arranging, and like who's filing it? And all these
jewelry watches, et cetera that they're trying to get late
claimed to. But I think about a view then expand
that to other teams, collegiate teams, whatever. How's wind sitting

(31:55):
up and registered? How did I fail? Dan? Well, I'll
tell you because I just I don't think that it's
is easily findable. And obviously if playoff of Sin City
that that works for the for the Raiders. I just
don't know if it's genius or if I love it
because it's like a dad joke, you know, like that
that's where that's where I don't know if it's like

(32:17):
that just a great play on words, and I love
it because you know, I'm all into dad jokes and
at that point in my life, So I don't know
if it's if it's great because of that, or if
it actually just is very very clever and it is
so good because as you said, it was right, you know,
right under our nose. But I don't know if you
could just make that transition if you're just you know,

(32:41):
like the Kansas City. You don't Chiefs win the super Bowl.
You can't just be like, all right, we're a wind city,
you know, Like it's it's very difficult to like have
your own nickname, make your own nickname. But if you
spin it off of Sin City like they are, I
think that's what makes it work for Las Vegas and
why somebody else couldn't do it. But that's just it
the aspirational inspiration. I'm just talking about me joke q

(33:03):
public right, like so many people squatted and look, filing
a trademark is not a cheap process, particularly if you're
gonna add category after category. It'll add up on you
in terms of those fees, and then you're waiting and
then there's challenge periods and whatever else before it's finalized.
But when we talk about businesses with ample amounts of cash,

(33:24):
and that's always one of the great debates in Raderville,
had it a little bit with Chris play last night,
sitting in is. I don't know what people have in
terms of debt and assets and how they're leveraged and whatever,
but this one just seemed like squatters on websites with
team names, player names, et cetera. Media people. Hey I
gotta fight from Madonna dot com if I'm Madonna, you

(33:47):
know those things, or you gotta pay me two million
dollars same thing here said someone didn't register it to
just put on T shirts. Shocks me, absolutely shocks. But
it's probably been on T shirts. But yeah, to your void,
it just hasn't been just no, but just hasn't been registered. Yeah,
and now you have to go and vigorously defend it
once you're actually given that trademark. But yeah, from pins,

(34:09):
the bowling gloves and everything else. So yeah, it's an
interesting process and and I like it for the Raiders
just got a funny and I don't know, we use
the word ironic way too much here at three and seven,
but hey, five dollars where you can. I'll tell you
what the Raiders this year, as you mentioned the three
and seven record, but with the the Aces and with

(34:29):
the Golden Knights, you know, new new history that that
they've had in the recent years. I mean there's success.
They're they're holding up there into the bargain. Now it's
just up to the Raiders and I guess maybe the
Oakland A's whenever they come to town to to try
to add to that mantra. I think, if you win,
it will catch on. Well, not to mention Dan, I
mean something we'll talk about a little bit later on

(34:50):
when you add more and more premier events. The f
onees coming. Talking about college basketball showing up now you
could sell t shirts with wind City for all of
those schools. Talk about looking ahead and making bank at
Dan Buyer on Fox where you find and find me
over at Swollen Dome coming up next? How about them
Cowboys recruiting purposes? N I L. What are we talking

(35:14):
about next
