John's on the ropes, my national champion getting shut out
seven to nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Oh, get a te o, Baby, get a teo. You
shouldn't have spent all that time at that Italian restaurant.
And that's not just a joke. They were actually at
an Italian restaurant eating lunch earlier.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
DJ Omaha, hitting a three from Omaha to make it
seven to nothing. Over the red storm. The red storm
clearly not rising right now? TJ over under on tablecloth dresses, mic.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Oh Man two and a half. A.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Patino might have to change into the white suit like
now he might as okay, can't, can't, can't deal with Twitter.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Let's go. We gotta go to this man. We're in trouble.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Costume change like he's a one one named singer at
a venue near.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
You see wow, Come on, he got to run out
like he's the ultimate warrior.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Always you hear the music read up or he comes out.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
He starts shaking the media table, he said, going up
and down, Bill Raftery and and and Kevin Harley, going,
my goodness, what is happening right now?
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Rick Patino? Seven nothing?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah, but if he showed up like the ultimate worry,
he ended up hurting somebody and then there'd be problems.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Dude, this might be a lot of stuff. The national
champion team man No. Seven nothing to a fifteen seed.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Come on, man, I had to go back and chess
and check my bracket after Clemson lost earlier, Like how.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Far did I have going?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Now?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
You waited the eighth.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Now here's what I want to know is we need
cameras because you saw the one speech that Patino gave
to the one that made it publish. Yeah, in the
Big Saint John's documentary when they were trailing to Providence
at halftime in December, and how bad that was. I
wonder what the speech is now seven nothing to start
the NCAA tournament against Omar.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
He might sound like Mick Cronin.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
You Blakeny Blankes, You Blakeny Blake's just Blakeny blaking your
way through. I can't believe you think you blake any
Blake this and blakenty blanked that, and that's you Lewis,
and that's you Canary Richmond.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
That's all. Yeah, you go Blakeny Blake.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Oh you Blakey Blake, Blakey Blake, Blake Blake, Brenda and
Eddie and Blakenny blagany Blake.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Lights mightst be romantic teenage.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Knights Blake Andy plageany blank Yeah, get back out there.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
That would be my speech.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
And all of a sudden, Billy Joel and a piano
show up at halftime. Musical accompaniment for this halftime speech
presented by one William Joel. It is obviously ill, so
we hope he yes, he just.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Comes up from under the floor, like the floor opens.
He's on the piano, the revolving piano.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Here's how he.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Dismal first half of Guys, we got bigger problems than this.
I have bigger problem. I got, I got my my,
My national champion team hasn't scored yet. That's a problem.
That is at me problem. But this is a universal.
My problems are big. Why what is it? What the
Drake is winning? Oh? That did Drake is winning? Yes,
the Drake Drake look like they're gonna move on.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
But I thought the sec was so good. But wait, no, no,
what did you say? There was four four four will be.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Alive at the end of this weekend four and season?
Somebody check, so good? The Drake is back the Drake.
Love the Drake, I hate the Drake. I love now.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
That would be funny if suddenly he was.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Court side.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
In a blue No, he's got money on humber jacket. No,
no questions, not about it's the NCA turn. If somehow
Drake wins a couple of games, you know who's gonna
be You know who's he's gonna show up at games.
I mean, you know he's gonna be there. I don't
think he needs they need what one this is? This
is free there over the weekend. This is free pub
for me. I'm Drake. I'm here to see Drake plack.
All right, that's great, brought to you by the Drake
(04:34):
Hotel of Chicago. Nicely, does it still Drake selblo?
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Drake still? Yeah? Uh waitit wait wait wait wait wait,
we have breaking news.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Breaking news. Saint John's is scored. Saint john They will
not be shut out. They are trail Omaha now seven
to two. Saint John's has scored. They are on the
board right now.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
How about that? Early on look at you? Uh now?
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Speaking of the game's happening right now in the NA
UCLA looked like things could be a little interesting here
against Utah State, and losing to Utah State would be
completely on brand for this UCLA team. However, they have
gone on a huge run in the last couple of minutes,
basically since Saint John's decided to not score. They now
lead Utah State late in the first half thirty nine
(05:17):
to twenty five. So all of a sudden, this has
been a turned into a runaway game for UCLA, which
I feel like every year for UCLA it's either one
of two outcomes. They either a they go incredibly far
unexpected and look at this wherever you go. They're in
the sweet sixteen, they're in the Elite eight, they're in
the final four, or they lose in the first round.
Like there's no in between, there's no Hey, you won
(05:38):
a couple of games. We're going home in this week sixteen,
we win a game as a seventh seed. We lose
a big game on a Sunday to a bigger seed.
Now it's either we're either on some kind of crazy
magic carpet ride run.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Or we go home early.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
That's UCLA twenty two to ten on the year. And
for Mick Cronin, we watched it over the course of year.
How many times can you go to the win when
it comes to the berating your player publicly? I don't know,
in the in the in the huddle, et cetera, because
I think he's going to that, well maybe four or
five times this year to after a bad effort.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
How many times can he go to the nana go
watch me with with and watch me Nana and watch
me with with and watch me and you.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Go to the go to the now long ago? Was
that show me the Superman? You show me the soup?
You go to what you go to a wedding? You
do the dance like that. That's like the New Village
people y m c A. Every wedding they play whip
in nine. Okay, it's like ten years old now watching, but.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
It's still being done. Like people are still flossing. I mean,
I mean the dance. People are still doing the dance.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I think that you think that would be out. That
would have been out for like three four they are now.
People still people still do people? Dude, what do you
think I have people my daughter's high school. I see
people just standing there, floss.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
I thought you were gonna say, all the friends of
my daughter's weddings.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
It hasn't. We haven't gotten that older. You're attending like
the parties they want you to go to.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Yeah, don't worry. The the real one with the real
high school kids is going on as soon as you leave.
It's underneath the gymnasium. All these are all the middle
school kids just running around and they're playing ring around
the rosie.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
That other one is they're doing the Lombarda.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
For so we have more on the games that are
underway again. Saint John's down to Omaha seven to at
the first time out. Saint John's right now on pace
to score sixteen points tonight sixteenth point. They're on pace
four sixteen points.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Well, I mean the game, look, Clemson almost came back
and won after putting up what thirteen in the first Yeah,
almost almost. And by the way, Better's got middled. If
you bet the under on that game, you're like, wow,
this is great. And then the line moved several points,
creating a pretty big spread and everybody got middled because
(07:52):
there were over ninety points scored a.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Second some Vegas nos, so they got you repeatedly.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
So there's a lot of fun to get to today.
This is one of those days where Day one of
the NACA Tournament usually it's either about one of two things.
There's the fun and there's plenty of fun stories we're
gonna get to.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
And there's the big drama. Right.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Oh, we have big games, big upsets. So far today
has been short on drama, but it's been big on fun.
Doesn't mean we didn't have an upset. We had the
big one earlier tonight that was tough for me to
stomach because I had to watch a former Syracuse player
who decided to choose McNee State overstaying at Syracuse. As
Kadeer Copeland leads mcneise to the biggest upset of round
(08:33):
one in the NCAA Tournament, they knock off Clemson, a
game they were winning at halftime thirty three to thirteen.
A big frantic rally by Clemson in the final moments.
I think they hit like five threes in the final
minute just to make it close, but McNeice is able
to outlast Clemson, sending the Tigers home not doing well
(08:55):
for my Hey, the ACC might be better than anything,
and mcneise moves on. And it was real hard for
me to watch because I'm watching Copeland again. Like if
I could trace the downfall the Syracuse program, it was
when Kadeer Copeland decided he was rising, came off the bench,
was gonna be a start of the next year. He
is a dominant player. And it's not like he chose, Hey,
I'm going to Duke, or I'm going to North Carolina,
(09:17):
or I'm going to a bigger blue blood, like I'm
choosing McNeice over Syracuse, which tells me Syracuse can't figure
out the nil they can when you're choosing me like
that's that was okay? This is where I know the
Syracuse program is in sports Stonehenge now and I'm gonna
have to watch him Copeland and Cadari Richmond, who could
be in the same backcourt right now, I'm gonna watch it.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
I'm gonna watch them just roll through the NCAA tournament. Now,
it's not good for you.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Now when they do the highlight this weekend ahead of
their second round game, do they play fanfare for the
common man? Oh, you kinda have to, and then have
a bunch of highlight realm the uh student manager.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Who came out like the Rizzler run. Now, I just
got fanfare for come man. I took the.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Blackhaws skate on you before it would come in out
to here Come the Hawks.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
It would be the.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Slow build of all these highlights through the years, and
then I wasn't here come the Hawks, am I? And
then final skate before you know, opening puck drop.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Now, let's get into the because this is the most
overrated story of the day. Uh, just so happens you
know McNeice, We know Will Wade head coach leaving for
North Carolina State right in that announcement on the eve
of the NCAA Tournament.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
And it's that's the biggest story, right, they pulled the
big upset. Right.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
It's second year in a row he sends McNee to
the to the tournament. Last year he said, we were
just kind of happy to be here. This year's as
we came in where a goal in mind was to
win this game, and they wind up winning, and we
know he's going to North Carolina State, and you saw
all day, Oh this was awful. How do you not
keep this a secret? How do you not let this
go until after the tournament is over?
Speaker 4 (10:55):
I don't know how. You know.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I watched Charles Barkley talk about it today and I'm saying,
and that's the one thing. These guys are so out
of touch with college They barely work hard enough as
it is for the NBA. They're so out of touch
with college basketball. Apparently the Will Wade story didn't really
matter as much, right I didn't.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
You know?
Speaker 1 (11:13):
It's weird to hear him say we as a university,
we do this when you know you're leaving. But you know,
kids are more savvy now. You got to give them
more credit. They know how to play the business game
now just as well as the coaches and the schools do.
Because of NIL and transfer, kids are way more savvy now.
You can't lie to kids.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
You can't do it.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
They probably all knew he was leaving. He said, I'm
transparent with my players on it. Everybody knew. Okay, well,
now the timing sucks. That clearly like to see that. Okay,
you know, we could have this happen after.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
But I get it. North Carolina State wants an answer.
I get it. But clearly this didn't have an impact.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
I'm sure he's gonna take dear Copeland with him and
a couple other players within in North Carolina State.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
But this is not nearly the big deal people think
it is. Right.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Everything is much more transparent now. You can't hide anything
with the the way that the media is now. Twenty
four to seven. They wouldn't have announced it. They didn't
think it was going to get out anyway, and they
would have announced it if they thought this is going
to really hurt our program. We're going to the NCAA tournament.
It would have been Hey, well, you care about the
kids here? Obviously he does, he's been there a couple years.
(12:15):
But this is how the world works. McNeice is a
job where it's a stepping stone, and now he's going
to get to the acc all right.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
This is how everybody knows it. This is not fifteen
twenty years.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Ago, where oh, coaches and schools were able to do
whatever they want you to work on a hide stuff
and make it mysterious and the players are victims.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Now the players know the game. They know the game,
and for Will Wade to be honest with everybody, I
like that.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
I like that. Hey, we're honest. I'm telling you I'm
leaving and I'm going here. And the best part is
now there are people who would want this job. Hey
wait a minute, we got some things rolling here at McNeice.
I see them on national TV. I know the coaches leaving.
I'm taking a look at what kind of personnel they have.
I'm hoping he doesn't take everybody with them to North
Carolina State. But maybe now this becomes a story and
this becomes an attractive job, and they know they're replacing
(13:01):
Will Waite.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Anyway, now they get more interested in it like this.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
This is such an over it's such an overblown story,
and it's something that when I see it talked about,
it's like people who still think that that college basketball
is what.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
It was twenty years ago. It's not the case. No,
but that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
It's changed fundamentally. That's why we had our long discussion
about just continue expanding the tournament. Right, our guy Pete Futech,
he was going, yeah, tell me again with some of
these games, how you're mad that Indiana played in the.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
College Football Playoff. It's like, it's the same thing.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
We see blowouts, players aren't beholden to stay at a school.
We see by the time a guy finishes, he looks
like he's got a shack wall of how many jerseys
could I put up by the end of it, different
nil packages, whatever. You're constantly recruiting your players in season
to stick around. And for coaches, I mean, wait's not
the only one. You've got Willard at Maryland with the
(13:54):
same thing. Right, Ad might be gone before it's over.
I did a spot in Baltimore and I'm like, you know,
I picked him to go far, But I don't know
if this infighting is gonna affect the players.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Van Dickson will lead the team.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
They'll be fine nically, absolutely, But I gotta I gotta
thinking you're at the points like well, we were pot
committed at this point. We're with him as long and
if he walks out the door as soon as it's over,
we'll see him in hell. So same thing with Wayne.
He's had his issues with recruiting and all that stuff
in the past. It's the transparency's there. You might as
well hear it from the horse's mouth, as it were.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Exit about a fresca exit, swallowing up. The most overrated
story of the day is this one. It just happens
to come with the biggest story of the day as well.
Tractor Supply knows that a winning season takes practice, teamwork,
and it can do attitude. Thankfully, when you have a
neighbor like Tractor Supply, teamwork comes easy. Whether you're caring
for pets, chickens or a few acres, our team members
will help you succeed season after season. Tractor Supply for
(14:50):
life out here. Well, coming up next, how about this,
Mike Carmon, We have a story that is the best
possible news for anyone who's a fan of college basketball.
We also have a story where boy as a nation,
we have all been embarrassed today. So we'll have both
of those coming up in the next few minutes. Jason
(15:10):
and Mike fix Sports Radio. Hey tires matter. Why Well,

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Oh wait, breaking news, breaking news here for FARS radio
breaking news. Be careful that triggers things. Uh, you see
San Diego as finally scored. They were down to Michigan
ten to nothing, but now they have scored. So now
it's ten to two, fourteen minutes to go in the
first half. Now the long road begins with the first
(16:39):
step ah or something like that.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Meanwhile, you know, and I always I wonder if teams
are always nervous about this, Like if you have a
day where there's not a lot of upsets in the
NCA tournament that the law of averages tells you there's
going to be some upsets. How nervous are those teams
at play at night? Like the last group of four
that man, there hasn't been a lot of upsets. This
could happen for us tonight right now, under ten minutes
to go in the first half. Omaha leads Saint John's
(17:03):
fifteen to fourteen, So the Johnny's not with a great
start so far, but it is early. However, to fifteen,
you want to think that Saint John's, coming out of
the big regular season they had and my pick to
win it all, would have a little bit better start
than this.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Well, what's funny is for the media in totality, right,
the punditry a lot of love for Saint John's. The's
last couple of weeks, right, you built that bandwagon, and
damn it did they flow on really, really heavily, except
the betting public didn't do the same. They were still
twenty five to one to win it all. So you
(17:40):
have a small wager, a peanut bet, as Bill Krackenberger
would call it. But when it comes down to it,
Saint John's for the entirety of this week, since selection Sunday,
they've been told how great they are. So maybe you
come out thinking, all right, it's another day.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
At the office.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Sure, Whereas.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Like, what the hell?
Speaker 3 (18:01):
I hate theternal house money you do? I hate that
more than like I think it's just grossly overused. And
every game you come out you're still playing playing, you know,
as hard as you can at trying to be as
effective as you can.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
It's never ah, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 3 (18:16):
But there is a looseness to being a fifteen seed
of just go throw it against the wall and see
what you do.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
This is one of those games where, like you know,
because I have so much at stake with Saint John's
winning it all, I don't even want to watch it.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
I want to just turn it on at the end
and find out put a movie instead. I want it.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Well, no, we can't, we go, we can't, we can't care,
we can't cheat America. They want to know what's going on.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Well, they want to. You can live and die as
I just make references, but do it obliquely during my comments,
retorts to what you have to say right yelling at
you every time.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Second, Omaha, now up by six over Saint John's word
games where I just want to turn it off and
wake up and go what was the score?
Speaker 4 (18:52):
I don't care. I didn't go through all the stress,
but they won and they're moving on.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
I would just tell you this, Sir Roki Sasaki over
there would be happy to can't advise you of any failures.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
We knew it was over the second he took that, Well, why.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Do you think I'm dreading football season already? I don't
even get to have my great off season for the Bears.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
He's already doom me. The Bears are so bad he
has no say over that.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Speaking of Hoop's, tractor Supply knows that a winning season
takes practice, teamwork, and it can do attitude. You hear
that Saint John's practice team work can do attitude. Thankfully,
when you have a neighbor like tractor supply, teamwork comes easy.
Whether you're caring for pets, chickens are a few acres.
Our team members will help you succeed season after season.
Tractor supply for life out here. So eight chickens, yeah,
(19:38):
it could be raising chicken. I tell you, maybe, say John,
why don't you Bay Potito put a bunch, Put five
chickens out there.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Let him run around. See they do anything better? This
is my team. Put five chickens out there. My team
is on the court. Well, Leena, now I'm thinking of
a rest of developm when they're all doing the chicken impressions?
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Who can do?
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Who can do?
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Has anybody in this family ever seen a chicken? But
before we get to the best news in the nca tournament.
Let me just say we were embarrassed as a country today.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
As an contation, we.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Were absolutely careful rail Oh no, no, no, There's there's
many things I can point to every day going oh this, no, no, no,
we were embarrassed as a country today. Uh.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
And I want to say that maybe it's good that
it happened.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Panama beats the US men's national team today a stoppage
goal their first shot of the game in the first
game of the Mauricio Pocatino Era, and Panama beats the
United States won nothing in the Semis. The game was
at so Far and again their first shot of the day.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Aren't you glad we couldn't go because it was the
first day of the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Well because this guy.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
I think at the end of this one.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
If I was actually at so Fi, yeah, but might
have been a problem.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Uh. This this is now the first time that the
United States will not win the event. We have won
the event every single time, all three times. Now the
first game of the Pocatino Era. Now, hey, guess what
we've lost? Okay, so no place, Look but watching, look,
I'm watching, watching this game the second half. Look, Panama
(21:16):
parked the bus for the entire game basically, but still
there was no creativity. But there's no creativity, no nothing
from more talented the United States team. Greg Berhalter is
somewhere laughing his ass off right now. Like Robert de
Niro and Cape Fear in the movie Theater, I was
the problem. At least I won this tournament three times. Ah,
(21:38):
it's embarrassing. Now you want to get to the day. Okay,
when are we gonna have this tournament, big deal semi finals?
When are we gonna play it? We're gonna play it
on the first day of the NCA tournament. Well, is
that a smart idea? Now, we'll still play We'll have that.
Well people watch?
Speaker 4 (21:51):
Ohkay, we suck. Okay, when are we gonna play it?
Speaker 1 (21:54):
We're gonna play it at LA Okay, all right, so
we're gonna have a late start. No, no, no, We're
gonna play it at four o'clock in the afternoon, four
o'clock in the afternoon local time. Yeah, we're gonna get
a crowd. Yeah, it's all, but you have We're a
soccer man country now and it's such an embarrassing it
looked like it looked like what a Jets preseason game
is gonna look like this year. That's how many people.
(22:17):
I mean, this was such an epic fail. I mean, look,
there's a long way to go. Obviously, we'd have to
worry about qualifying because we're posting the world, right, But
for your first day, your first game under the guy
who said a day ago, the next five ten years,
we're competing for World Cups. He said, hey, the President
and everybody else is gonna have us. He's gonna give
us the the resources we need to succeed to make
(22:38):
sure we win the World Cup. The game, and here's
your first game, and you can't even beat Panama, who
is terrible that maybe maybe if I was playing keeper
instead of Matt Turner, maybe I make that save. And
I mean maybe I don't, but maybe I make that save.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
First. Your first steps good, Yeah, but I didn't have
to make it save.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
The rest of the there were no shots, no shots
until the ninety fourth minute of the game.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
Come on, man.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
At that point you're like picking daisies. Come on, man,
because you haven't had any.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Action and not only did you lose, but you had
a cry. It's so I mean you see this, I'm
going this.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Really, this is Jet's preseason football. This is like Jets
Week one preseason football. No, sorry, yeah yeah, Week four
yearly against the Giants, wore Week three against the Giants.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Yeah. I mean that's so, and we're I was embarrassed
as a nation that this is what we had.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
No commentary was great. All you gotta do is play
Van Halen's Panama in the backgrounds as you sitting restarting
the commentary.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Between my legs and ease the seat back. Where's scaring?
Speaker 4 (23:40):
You're losing? Panama? Dug.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Really, there's one person in the United States that's happy,
and it's Greg Burholter, and he is smoking a cigar
right now with bourbon brandy having a part. Hey, come
on over, it's the it's the US men's national team
after party at Miles.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Just come on over.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Hey, even the Rainers might come over. Call them up,
at them, come over. He changed his ring tone.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
I done, oh yeah done. Why do you have lah?
Speaker 3 (24:12):
This song just puts me in look best moon.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Aren't you gonna answer me out? Nope? Your phone is ringing, Greg, No,
I just want to hear the song. Jump back. What's
that's un lad.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Are you calling it from your other phone? That's again, right,
I am.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
I'm just gonna hear it ping ponging back and forth.
We will have the best story out of the NHR.
I mean, I tough to beat that though.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
But first let's find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. So someone who's been called the Lady
Gaga of Fox Sports Radio Lady Gaga because she has
a bad romance with the LA Clippers.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
It's that's good. I do have a bad romance with
the l A Clippers. Listen, we're doing really well.
Speaker 7 (24:58):
Don't listen to stephen A talking not gonna Why is
it injury history?
Speaker 6 (25:03):
I don't know why he had to bring that up.
But we were doing pretty good. The Clippers they're playing,
they say, didn't they.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
They say that he's still playing for the Raptors.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
I thought that's okay, and He's like, I'm waiting for
him to get hurt.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
I was like, shut up, Steven, no, no, no, but
greamon or was he just was his op opera voice
or what was it?
Speaker 4 (25:19):
The This is ridiculous. It was terrible. It was embarrassing.
The worst thing I've ever seen. He's got to commit
to the bit.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
If he's got a hundred million, Now, there's got to
be violinists behind him when he gets to that voice.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
There's there's gotta be somebody on on the sores dot
com coming up with with words that that that can
be uh, that can be you know, subs in for.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
For terrible exactly. This was abhorrent. It was frightful. It
was ghastly. It was horrid.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
It was unfortunate. It was unpleasant. It was desperate, beastly,
it was dreadful. This was disturbing. This was atrocious nice.
This was disastrous. This is gruesome. This was severe, This
is petrifying. It was offensive, it was repulsive. It was revolted.
It was rotten, unnerving, it was unwelcome.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
It was vile.
Speaker 6 (26:04):
I'm gonna steal some of those.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Okay, some of those, thank you. It was also describing
in the United States game against pat Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Were you tired all together?
Speaker 7 (26:14):
Maybe I knew it was gonna be so bad, and
that's why they scheduled it at four o'clock in the
middle of a day like this.
Speaker 6 (26:20):
Yeah, that makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
All right, Hey, we got a big game and it's
gonna put it. We're gonna put it on every television.
We're gonna do it in prime time, and we're gonna
network pick it up.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
Hey, we might not be that good.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
All right, We'll play four o'clock in Los Angeles on
the first day of the tournament opposite the UCLA game
on a streaming service that you need to really search
it out.
Speaker 6 (26:41):
And you know, so many people approved it, like that's
what's crazy. It's all people were like, yeah, good idea.
Speaker 7 (26:45):
Uh huh, green light, green light, counterprogramming, let's go.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
It's just like when you're a youth coach, you can
schedule your own games whenever you want to.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
That doesn't matter if you tell I'm doing it.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Like this, I'm doing it like this, all right, guys.
Speaker 7 (26:57):
So the second half just started between seventy UCLA and
ten seed Utah State, the Bruins are up thirty.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
Nine to twenty nine.
Speaker 7 (27:04):
They just got going again in the second half late
in the first half, fifteen seed Omaha and two seeds
Saint John. Saint John's is up twenty five to twenty
two after that slow start that you mentioned halfway through
the first half. Five seed Michigan has a twenty to
eight lead over twelve seed You see San Diego.
Speaker 6 (27:19):
What has happened already?
Speaker 7 (27:21):
Will ten seed Arkansas survive seventy nine to seventy two
against seven seed Kansas. This is the Kansas first loss
in the first round since two thousand and six.
Speaker 6 (27:30):
And also Drake is moving on.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
I had the Jackson, he triples it out. Drake could
not beat Kendrick Lamar in the Battle over the last year,
but the Drake Bulldogs could certainly beat the Missouri Tigers
in the first round at the NCAA Tournament sixty seven
fifty seven.
Speaker 6 (27:51):
I mean, the jokes right themselves, clearly, line.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Clearly Drake having a better year than Tiger Woods and
let's make dreg that's happening right now.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Our university did not make the dance.
Speaker 7 (28:03):
Drake beat sixteen Missouri sixty seven to fifty seven. The
Bulldogs are moving to the second round for the first
time since nineteen seventy one. We've got some NBA games
going on, Raptors and Warriors. Warriors of twenty six twenty
five late in the first after the first it's the
King's topping the Bulls thirty nine to twenty eight.
Speaker 6 (28:21):
Still to come the Bucks in the Lakers. I really
don't know who's playing for the Lakers. Mike Trudell might
have to suit up. I'm not sure. I was honest.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Wow, Mike Trudell so bad. Mike Trudell is playing point guard?
Did I?
Speaker 6 (28:34):
We may have to I don't know who's playing. I'm
not kidding.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
How many phone books? Yeah, let's fall forward, announcer John.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Honestly, you guys, Honestly, Jannis Ntakoupo is expected to play
for the Bucks, but Damian Lillard is not expected to play.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Okay, back to Michael Thompson would play powerfaward happen.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
He's got any minutes left, and I'm sure it's worthy.
Back on the court, you guys, I'm.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
Not getting I don't know who's playing Tomson.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Maybe Geeter is playing, Maybe baby Geeter is playing.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Okay, I'm just you, guys.
Speaker 6 (29:11):
Really everyone has been rolled out, everybody, everybody in the club.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
You want to hear, you want to hear a good story.
Who's playing?
Speaker 1 (29:18):
This is a really good story, and it de files
a guy used to be friends with Keith Oldman. So
it was not abruptly abruptly.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
And not my fault.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Pretty crazy.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
It was, Yeah, it was. It was got a history
of these are sure it's not your fault.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Positive that there's many things in my life. I will
tell you that's not my fault. That absolutely was my
I did it, deep Bud. But there were, but there
were that this completely not my fault. I exonerated him exactly.
Uh So this is We're at ESPN. This is when
I was in a production ESPN and Keith is doing
the eleven I'm working on the eleven o'clock show.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
And there are a couple of production.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Assistants that were new and like it just come in
and didn't know, like they're starting new at ESPN.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Here's what you're doing. He've been there a couple of days.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
And so Keith is doing the highlight of the Lakers
and it's and it's a mid game highlight and it
was the Lakers were playing somebody I forget it was,
and they were just getting pasted.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
Right.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
This is the mid nineties Lakers before Shack shows up,
before Kobe, right, So this is that was the fun Lakers.
This is yeah, this is the said Sabalo's Nick van Exela,
right ss so Eddie Jones, so yo, yeah, oh yeah,
Eddie Jones. So Eldon Campbell sure so excited. He's doing
the highlight. And it's halftime and the Lakers are losing
like fifty eight to twenty eight, like they're down by
(30:31):
thirty at halftime, and and Keith says just one of
those fun like I like to say, Keith, one of
the full lines goes, fifty eight twenty eight, Lakers shooting
twenty one percent from the field in the first half.
Things so bad for the Lakers. Chick Hern is playing
point guard right now, So really funny line. Right now,
I'm working on the eleven. I'm in and I'm in
the I'm in the room. I'm in the big tape
room where I'm out to do stuff I need to
(30:52):
during the show. And the two of the PA's who
were standing that are new they're kind of observing everything,
and one PA just, I mean, does it know? It
just goes really the play my play guy's playing point
guard for the Lakers. Dude, chick Hern is seventy Come on,
man's not really playing point guard like he thought because
Keith said it on the air like that was something
(31:13):
that was true, all right, thinks, So chick Hern is
playing for we're a newsleader.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
I mean, come on, I'm telling you it's gotta be true.
The thing is at Frostburg, and you know.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
From watching Chicken, Yeah, he could never leave the booth.
Somebody had to tell stud to shut the hell up. Right,
Yeah that's true, But couldn't you. I could actually see
him holding the ball and actually telling the other Lakers
what to do, like that's how good chack. Like he'll
be telling no, no, no, you need to get down
low and you need to come here and set a
screen like it, actually holding the ball back and pointing
at the other Lakers telling him.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
What to do. The man has a statue for a reason.
Yeah he does. He does. Chick hern is playing point
guard for the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Hey, Montsie, was that guy from from San Antonio?
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Left name?
Speaker 6 (31:49):
Sandro Mamuke?
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Oh you still know it? Very good.
Speaker 7 (31:56):
I'm pretty sure I got followers from just saying that
guy's name out.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
That's good, that's good. What's there to do?
Speaker 6 (32:02):
Sandro Mamukelshvili?
Speaker 4 (32:04):
All right, Mamukelashvili, that's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Mama.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
That could be a song.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
That could be a song, Mama Coolidge vili ivec MOI
sis wi nice or.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
On you sing it like Freddie Mercury would.

(32:43):
forty seven thirty three. Meanwhile, Saint John's has pulled out
a six point lead over Omaha. Now with three and
a half to go in the first half, I can
exhale a little bit. Uh we got more NCAA because
coming up next a story from today that I'm telling
you is the best story for every single NCAA.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
Tournament fan out there. What is it?
Speaker 1 (33:04):
We'll tell you coming up next right here, Jason and Mike,
this is Fox Sports Radio. Ooh, pant them up beat
the US boy may really miss Burrhalter. They really stunk.
We parked the bus in one one shot in the
(33:26):
ninety fourth minute.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Doesn't matter. Now we knocked them out of their own tournament.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (33:41):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
How about Home Off NCAA Tournament.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
UCLA is all over Utah State fifty three point thirty six.
Midway through the second half. They're moving on Michigan after
a slow start from UC San Diego. As you say,
they're trying to keep it close. They're down by nine.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
Texas Tech and UNC Wilmington just underway.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Saint John's and Omaha is a one score game right
now with twenty seconds to go before halftime. Saint John's
was down early in this game seven nothing. Omaha has
a great atay. You could tell by their body language
they're in here to win this game. Uh, it is
a toss up game right now with twenty seconds to
go before half time. Jason, look out, Yes, huge question
(34:24):
to you guys right here. Bottle of white, bottle of red?
Speaker 4 (34:28):
That is correct? Perhaps a bottle of rose instead? Correct
as well? Okay, the big question you ready? Yeah? Yeah?
What's uh?
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Patino's halftime speech gonna be like dude, it's gonna go
drink a bottle of red what's drink?
Speaker 4 (34:44):
What's that? What's that thing? We played from? What's that thing?
We play from? Burger Time? Blank you, blank you, blank
you You're cool?
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Blank you.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
I'm out. That's a good time, good burger Sorry. Burger
Time video game. Burger Time was a video game. Yes,
that was a great song you sing in the line
of McDonald's no Burger Time.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
There was a There was a video game though, where
you run around and you'd have to avoid like the
evil hot dogs and stuff, and you had to build
the burgers Burger Time, and there were more layers to
it with each level, so like it would start adding
bacon and odds onions and extra cheese or whatever else,
and you had to run across it and they would
drop it levels to where you finally made the whole burger,
but you had a bunch of different condiments and stuff
(35:25):
chasing you around.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Yeah, it's a great video. It was awesome. You have
diam like that, Jason, I'm going No, the cheese fell,
cheese fell over the sun, double.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Me, no, no, no, no, double meat. I could do
with that, but the cheese falls, Like I didn't want it.
I didn't want that. I can't have cheese.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
I didn't want it.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
I can't even have this. I don't care three seconds
of the question though, Yeah, how much baby powder? It's
gonna be used at halftime. He's gonna throw it in
everybody's face. It's gonna be I really we need we
need a camera in the locker room because Patino's walking
off and he is not happy.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
He's gonna be spitting it in guy's face like he's
the great Kabookvlved from the World Class Championship wrestley.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
They get an end one to end the first half,
so it's a five point lead. But this is not
anything that Saint John's could say, Hey, look at that
first half. So a lot of drama here again. Second
half about to begin about ten or fifteen minutes. R
J lewis just eight points nights so far for Saint John's.
He's a guy that's got a score.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
Now. The best news for all of us with the NCAA.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
Tournament that we have, and we've heard in the last
twenty four hours, Cooper Flag will play for Duke tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
All reports are John Shire talked about this. He's fine.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
All the movement he has had, the lateral movement, the
up and down movement, the movement straight ahead behind.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Everything is great. And look, when you're eighteen.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Years old, you come back from injuries like this pretty fast,
plastic man. Sure, it's not known how much he's going
to play, and I assume this will be a game
situation dictating how much Cooper Flag is gonna play. I'm
sure he'll start. If Duke is having their way, I'm
sure he will sit and they won't go crazy with
his minutes because there'll be a bigger game on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
Obviously, when you know, you think, I don't think he's
gonna have a Yeah, I have to work up too
big a sweat.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Yeah, I don't think he's gonna you know, I don't
think he's gonna play. I mean, maybe he plays twenty
someone and they need him for twenty minutes, or he
plays just close enough to a full load, or that
he can without it being so hey, we want to
make sure you're not rusty.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
So all right, that's that's the best news.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
That's always got to run him through the layup line,
see how he moves, and then sit his ass down myself.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
Now it's It's great news for two reasons, and number
one is because no tournament needs Cooper Flagg to play in.
It needs a star player more than this tournament does.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
Right.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
I mean, the two stories in the NCAA this year
has been Cooper Flag and Rick Patino and Saint John's.
That's it, those two stories. And clearly Cooper Flagg is
like like Patino and Saint John's is fun, but Cooper
Flag is way above it. It's not even Duke, it's
Cooper Flag. And and hey, here's a guy that's come
into overwhelming number one overall picking the draft.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
They need this. You need a star. That's the thing
about March is games go on. You need your stars.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
On the plus side, you added a mere con So,
I mean that's good the McNee station.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
Yeah, well they've had a ruling on his fight today.
All ties together. But here's the other part.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
That's big news for college basketball if I'm betting right now,
because here he is, coming back after a scary ankle injury,
wants to play in the nca TERM and clearly it
is okay from it. It's not a Zion busting up
his shoe, and dude, I don't know that you can
play again, and you're only a duke because you couldn't
go to the NBA. Cooper Flagg loves playing for duke.
(38:39):
When you see him play, this is not a guy
who I'm here putting in my year and I'm heading
to the NBA. If I'm a betting guy right now,
I would bet he comes back to school for another
year because you have your whole career to play right
and clear first overall pick here, you'll be the first
overall pick next year.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
Right.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
We watch Peyton do it twenty some odd years ago.
Stay in school, didn't want to go to the Jets,
so I'm staying in school. He came out and he
had a great career. Is that Cooper Flag has to
look at the teams that are in the mix for
the number one overall pick. Not like what you see now? Granted,
he's gonna have time. He's got to make a declaration.
Then we get the lottery, then you can pull out right,
so he has enough time to say, hey, I like
(39:21):
what I see at the top here. I don't like
what I like to see. I'm sure there's gonna be
some sort of back chattel communications, but there's not a
lot of teams in just till happens in this edition
of the NBA where I could say, Hey, that's a
team you want to go to. Now, Yeah, you're the
lottery because you stink, But there's there's difference between being
on a team that stinks and being on a team
that's having a bad year. That's a great chance and
(39:43):
a great opportunity for you. I don't see a lot
of those teams in the lottery this year. Or I
could say, hey, that's where you want to end up,
and chances are they might not get that number one
overall pick, and our team's going to trade up and
trade a whole bunch of number ones to get there
to get you. I'm telling you, if I'd to bet
right now, I would bet Cooper Flags stay a duke.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
I like, I like the cut of your jim I
like your optimism.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
I still think when you get down to it, you
become the face of a franchise, a city, that glimmer
of hope. All of that gets pinned to you.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
Now.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
The Bulls performing better of late big game tonight, opportunity
once again for Kobe White and company to try to
solidify their place in the playoffs. But say all of
a sudden Chicago drops out, or you've got those few
ping pong balls.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
Where you can go hang out maybe with Wemby and
de Aaron Fox.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
You know, all of a sudden there are some places
that start looking more and more attractive.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
No, but again, it's gonna depend and gets but it doesn't.
There's not there's not a lot of possibilities out there.
You can look at it and say, oh, I like this.
Speaker 4 (40:46):
Well, so the other is that why for go the uh,
the income that you'll make for another year. I think
he's making a lot of money now.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
I think he's gonna get fifty million, get it.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
For another year. Two big stories out of the ENSI
turned from today Coming up next Fox
