(01:05):
it was not Nick's Magic, not even close, by the way.
Don't how much I love back to back games. I
love back to back games. They're so great except not but.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
You got fourteen guys in the lineup.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
All the good thing Madison Square Garden got to see. Yeah,
everybody that wears the uniform get at least so the
minute you got two minutes from from cold like for
crying out.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, everybody plays. Everybody. Oh no, they don't all win.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, no, no, no, finally take a home loss to
the Orlando Magic. Well listen, like I said, I love
back to back games. Why are we playing? I mean really,
all the NBA's got to do, all Adam Silver's got
to do to get solids everywhere is to say, hey,
you know what, we're gonna get rid of back to backs.
Let's find a way to do it right. We can
find a way to No, no, no, we're gonna play
back to back. Oh okay, okay that I mean really
(01:50):
this I get to a point with back to backs.
It's not just it's not just you know the Knicks
play tonight and lost back to backs. It's everybody back
to backs, national televised games, all the different things. I'm
okay with teams if they say, oh yeah, yeah. I
used to go from hey if you're healthy, you can play.
Your healthy you can play. But now the fact that
the NBA is really obstinate with oh we're keeping the
back to backs, and even though we try to less them,
(02:11):
but we still have so many, especially early in the season.
I'm like, yeah, no, I'm okay. If you want to
sit back and say you're not playing our guys tonight,
not doing it, not doing I'm okay with that. I've
come around on that. I've gone from hey, come on,
you're you're you're giving some sort of you have to
beetle buy tickets to come see you play at all
this that. Now I'm like, no, you sit out blank
the NBA, Blank, Adam Silver, Blanke all the decisions these
guys are making. No, yeah, we don't need back to
(02:31):
back games yet, Blake. Those guys, welcome to the right
side of this argument where I've been standing waving telling
you to cross the chasm all these years. Come on
over the Water's fine, Blank, those guys, eighteen thousand people
are still gonna show up. They're gonna live and die
with every call. They're gonna say, who the hell's that
guy at the four, and then their game is gonna
(02:53):
flow through. You're gonna win, you're gonna lose, and you're
gonna go home. It is all good.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
And then they'll saddle up and do it again.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Well, I know you had been really hot on that
part of it since you started taking it was an
eleanor you started taking the Lakers games. And it was
a point where Lou Williams was the best player on
the floor three straight games because Kobe sat out, the
other guy sitting out, and he was on the ticket
of the game. Hey Lou Williams, come to the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Celebrate Lou Williams.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
I had a partial season during Kobe's final year. I
think I actually saw him in the building once of
the games that I went to. Yeah, and he never
saw him play. No, no, no, no, I didn't get that.
And the worst of it, though, it was one one
night I had tickets for the game and for a
convergence of circumstance, couldn't go, so I had to hand them.
(03:41):
That was the day that he announced he was done,
and they gave out that that letter thanking basketball. So
I only got one of them, Like evidently they were
willing to give the person I gave the tickets to
as many as she wanted, and I told her, get
as many as they'll possibly give you. She she she
took one, like you failed. Well, we're getting all the
(04:02):
stars tonight at least. Well, lebron James is not playing,
but he's going to the G League. Yeah, Bronny with
the Lakers. No, that is not happening. I want you
to think Mike Harmon said that he's not going to
the G League with boy would be funny. Luca starts
out like a house of fire. But Oklahoma City, looking
to improve on their league best thirty five and one record,
(04:22):
lead the Lakers now twenty two to fourteen late in
the first quarter level lot in this again biggest game
of night in the NBA, But today was Hardware Day
in Major League Baseball, where I can't say we're surprised
now that Trek Scooble and Paul Skeens are your cy
Young Award winners. Schoobl winning back to back, Skien's winning,
(04:43):
and now that they've won, we can get to the
really important part of this conversation is when will both
of these guys get traded? Right? That's that's really one
that's great. When will both of these guys get traded?
Because that's what it does. It's all about Schooble. Is
he gonna go Skeens? When's he gonna go. Let's go
Schooble first, then we'll go Skins. Schooble going into his
last year of controllable salary with the Tigers. I love him,
(05:08):
love the guy, Love the guy, Love the guy, Love
the guy. Don't want to trade for him. Don't want
to trade for him. He's a Scott Boris guy. So
you know he's gonna go to free agency. And I'll
tell you this, not only do I don't want to
trade for him right now, but there's no way he
gets moved at all before the trade deadline. I know
there's a lot of talk right now because it's a
big rumor with Scooble and the Tigers. What are they
(05:29):
gonna do? He's gonna hit free agency. But number one,
the Tigers are a World Series threat team. They're not
just gonna give Schooble away. They're not a team that
needs to rebuild. They're not the Pirates. Now. Well, once
we get a good player, we gotta sell them off
for a bunch of lesser players, because that's kind of
how we do things. So the Tigers, they have World
Series aspirations. They're gonna go into camp with schoobl And
(05:49):
right now it would take a an absolute treasure trove
of your best prospects to get Schooble away from the Tigers.
Which do you really want to give somebody that, knowing
full well that he's going to hit free agency at
the end of the year. You can think he's gonna
come in and love your culture. All you want is
got Boards're gonna say, yeah, don't fall in love too
much because we're going to free agency, because I'm gonna
get you three hundred million dollars. Forget about Yama Mood.
(06:10):
I'm gonna get you four hundred million dollars.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
But that's good.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
He made love everything, but he's still it's gonna cost
you three hundred plus million dollars. It's gonna cost you
too much in prospects to be able to get a
guy for a year that's gonna go to free agency,
that's gonna go to the highest bidder. Right, So the
only time he gets moved is at the deadline. And
this is if the Tigers aren't in contention, because the
Tigers will keep him all the way through the end
(06:34):
of the year. Hope he goes you, hope he wants
to stay. They're not gonna move him if they're in contention,
they have no problem keeping him. He's a homegrown UH prospect.
And look, he's a guy that had Tommy John surgery.
The Tigers stuck with him. Look at where they are now,
Look how good he is. He only gets dealt this
year if it's at the deadline and the Tigers are
out of contention. Outside of that, School's a Tiger. He's
(06:56):
gonna pitch the whole year and then we'll get into
the free agency part of it year from now. But
all this talk about school going out no way, because
no one's gonna pony up what the Tigers would want
to move him, and and it's it's going to be
really a dead issue until we get to that part
at the end of July. Yeah, the part that you
bring up about contending is the curiosity. Right They finished
the year two and eight eighty seven wins on the year,
(07:19):
just finishing behind Cleveland, and we look at the rest
of the division. Casey was just a couple of games
back Twins and White Sox trying to figure out what
the hell they're doing.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
And we go from there.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
But when you get down to it, you know a
lot I hear a lot of the show, Hey Otani
talk of well, you don't want to do what the
angels did. The Angels did it because Ardi Moreno didn't
want to get money back. Okay, that's all. That's the
only reason Otani wasn't traded. One they might have had
some thought that they could still convince him to re
(07:50):
sign right if the made the money right and whatever.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
They didn't want to do the deferment. So that's fine.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
But the other was how much money had to go
back to Japanese corporates if he was gone for the
second half of that year.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I gotta imagine it was enough.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
So I was like, you know what, we're gonna ride
this out and then we should hope see what happens.
Hopefully he doesn't go up the Oh he went up
the five. Yeah, standing thirty miles, I'll go up. I'll
take you up at five. You go up the five. No,
you go up the five, you go to Dodgers Tatum.
So yeah, so you've got that. But in terms of
the contending, and that's the question, are they willing to
(08:25):
risk losing him for nothing? No, they're not going to.
They they will know if they're contending all the way
through the end. Of the year. Yes, they would have
to be on pace for it to finish fifteen twenty
games under five hundred. Even if they're at five hundred
the end of July, they'll keep schoobl because you see
this team, this is a playoff team. There are a
couple of plays the last two years from moving on
(08:46):
in the playoffs being an ALCS team, maybe a World
Series team. So yeah, they'll hold on to him all
the way through the end of the year. I have
no doubla mind that's not happening. See, I didn't look
at him as a pitcher. I'm going I'm going into
the marketplace. I'm gonna say I've got the best going
in the game. Look at there's hardware. He's won of
five Detroit Tiger pitchers in history. You didn't have any
(09:06):
fun with my trivia question too. You took the fun
guy off the board. Well, because I've known that of
the five players who have won the Cy Young Award
for the Tigers, you said, who are the five? And
the first one I said right away, Willy Hernandez, you go,
but that's the fun one.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
I mean, sureser Verlanders.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
The most it's the most famous one. He won Cy
Young in eighty four first Relief as your lever. Yeah,
I mean that was that was that was such a
big deal. Certain things stick in my head, certain trivia
and stick in my head. But yeah, we started going down,
going down the rabbit hole of old award winners, Like
how did that guy know? That was fun? But I
just think when you got a picture effects every fifth day,
(09:45):
like if if you've got a couple of these squads
that are willing to mortgage for a half a year,
come on, give me, give me all I can because
I know I'm coming up snake eyes once Scott Morris
gets done the marketplace. Now for Paul Skeins, who wins
a cy Young unanimously, I think he's the new Jacob
de Gras, But win ten games, it doesn't matter, You're
(10:07):
still the cy Young. All this amid reports today from
a couple of sources that say Paul Skeins has told
the Pirates he wants to play for the Yankees, and
the Pirates understand that, Okay, wants to play for the Yankees.
The Pirates understand that, Okay, you think I'm gonna see
you go? No, you can't go. Okay, Uh, there's no way.
(10:29):
I think the Pirates understand. Listen, Paul Skeans as the
big superstar that he is him Livy Dunn, They're not
gonna spend their time in Pittsburgh. Okay, They're not just
not gonna happen. But to take this in a different perspective, right,
he wants to go the Yankees? Great, right, because I'm
sure if he wants to get there, the Yankees will
make it happen. Right, this is where the fans. The
fans got Nico Harrison fired in Dallas. Yankee fans will
(10:49):
get Paul Skins the Yankees because there's no way. Now,
Brian Cashman is now sweating profusely because he's going I
have to trade prospects to get Paul Skans At some point.
I don't want to trade any prospects because I think,
oh my guys are really good. It's why I don't
make big trades anymore. Oh, I gotta go take a thumbs.
But they'll make it happen. But I want to say this,
they a different in a different angle here, Right, the
(11:10):
Pirates don't want to trade Paul Skins, But what else
you gonna do? Because they're sitting now going Hey, well,
what's the old There was an old fable I remember
reading when I was a kid about a guy that
had a big brick of gold and he had it
in his backyard, and he and he put in his backyard,
and he dug it up every day to look at right,
(11:30):
and he put it and he put it back in
the ground, and then he dug it up every day
to look at it. And then one day a neighbors
walking by and sees the guy and he's crying in
his backyard. Neighbor says, well, what's going on? And the
guy says, ah, my gold is gone. Someone stole my gold.
I can't believe they stole the gold out of the backyard.
I don't have the gold anymore. And the neighbor says, well,
just get a rock painted gold buried. Anyway, you weren't
(11:51):
doing anything with it, so it may as well just
get a fake rock and pretended it's it's gold. I
was thinking about that today because what I want to
say is, Okay, Pittsburgh, if you don't want to trade
Paul Skins. I get that, who wants to trade Paul Skins,
But don't just sit back and we have Paul skins
and then piecemeal stuff together because you're gonna be seventy
(12:12):
and ninety two with Paul Skeens. Go out and spend
some bleeping money. Man, you got a guy that's that great.
You want to convince him to stay. Go spend some money.
You know it's okay. You know you don't need to
be a big market team in the NFL on a
small market team in Major League Baseball. Go spend some cash,
get a couple of players, and try to compete. It's
not impossible. You're on a ten year down tick of
(12:33):
when is this ever gonna happen? Coming off a twenty
year down tick before you got good for a couple
of years in the in the in the like twenty eleven,
twenty twelve, twenty thirteen, when McCutchen was fantastic. Right, So
you're in a huge down to go out and spend money.
You don't want to trade him. You know, we don't
want to move. We love Paul. We want to try
to find Go spend money, because that's how you're gonna
get him to stay. That's you get people to come
(12:54):
to the ballpark. You want people to come more than
once every fifth day. Go spend some money. And I'm
gonna saying you gotta go on a Steve Cohen spending spree.
But you have cash. And if you don't have cash,
sell the team, because maybe maybe you should have known
the team you don't have if you're sitting here showing
me your pockets are empty, Yeah, we don't know what
we can do. No, go spend some money. Go get
a couple of bats in and or or go get
an another pit, whatever you need, and go compete because
(13:15):
you're a dead franchise. You are an absolutely dead franchise
that we pay attention to once every fifth day because
you have a guy that's fantastic. Right, So before you
get all this, well, we have this and we're just
a feeder team for the Yankees. Up. No, spend some
money for the next couple of years. Don't need to
go and sign somebody to a Scott Morris seven year,
five hundred million dollar contract, but go sign somebody for
two years and fifty million. Sign a couple of guys.
(13:37):
That way, there's players out there. You could go get
Louis Severarino away from Sacramento because he doesn't want to
play in Sacramento anymore. He could be your number two
starting pitcher. There's guys out there. You can spend money
the next two years and do it. Go do it, Pittsburgh.
You had to put your money where your mouth is.
You don't want Paul Skins to go and do you
feel bad about no? Go put your money, Go spend
some money. Contract goes through the twenty twenty nine season.
(13:58):
The ace ups fable that you're getting into the miser
and his goal. Ah, the old moral of the story
that a possession is only as valuable as the use
we make of it, exactly, So get to work again
right now. It's a seventy to ninety two piece of
work that you have. But go go get some players,
go improve and maybe, hey, guys, we've seen if you're
(14:21):
a five hundred team, you're contending for the playoffs all
the way through the end of August. Now you have
a couple of years with schemes you have. I mean, now,
he may wind up at some point saying I'm not
going to play here anymore. You're trading me right now,
in which case then you're kind of stuck because then
I'm gonna hold out. I'm not gonna play it. But
right now, Yeah, you have control for a couple of years,
so go spend some cash.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Spend more years. Based on some quick quick research that
the revenue share was worth about one hundred and ten
million dollars.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Give it all the schemes, I mean sorry, give it
all the other guys. Give some to schemes three years
to go and spend money elsewhere. There's plenty of bargains.
Go find Jonah Hill and to have him crunch some numbers.
What's he do gets on base? Okay, that could help guys.
I'm gonna point at Mike Harmon again. If you don't
tell me what I want to, we'll do that. I'll
let my hair grow out and I'll put on some weight.
(15:11):
I'll be that Jonah Hill character if I need to,
just so we can make this happen for Pittsburgh. It's
a lovely ballpark, a wonderful sports city. But yeah, and
to your point, they show up every fifth day. All right,
Skeeves is going. And even then you're only getting ten teams,
ten to ten. It's a lot of no decisions. And
I mean we were looking at old records of guys.
(15:31):
I'm gonna get decisions. You at forty two all right, cool,
but with the way baseball works anymore, you don't have that.
But yeah, you're getting a gift by the way they've
they've worked this out. Go actually spend that money. Go
bring in someone, sell off pieces of the team, to
bring in an infusion of cash, to try to make
it worth your while and actually be competitive. Because we've
(15:52):
watched the teams in that division, like EBB and Flow,
there's no greatness on an annual basis.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Milwaukee, you know.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
You've got a Manager of the Year a couple of times,
and they've done everything right. Farm system wise, Cubs run
up now and again, but the Cardinals have fallen on
hard times. There's opportunity to go with one or two players.
And as you say, if you're in contention in September
and you find yourself in a playoff scenario, guess what.
There you go scheme pitches the first game, and all
(16:22):
of a sudden you're off in pacing. So yeah, you
got three years to figure it out. That's a long lead,
which means this is a daily occurrence. Do the math
for over a thousand days. Exit out bout a fresca
exit swallowing. Don now go spend money Pittsburgh. You have it,
Go spend it, Go get a couple of guys at
least look like you want to win, instead of saying, well,
we have this asset, we don't know. Go spend some cash,
(16:43):
Go spend you have it, you have it, or just
go rebuild now, just be done with it. Be sure

Time out for the Play of the Day. Play the
Day brought to you by ti iraq dot Com. For
over forty years, ty Rack's been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped
fast and free, backed by free Road, has protection with
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tiraq dot com
is the way tire buying should be well, really quick.
(18:24):
Before we get to the Play of the Day brought
to you by ti Iraq, maybe not the game that
the Lakers are gonna steal on the road. They trail
the Thunder right now thirty eight to twenty one early
in the second quarter. The Lakers got out to a
nice start the first like eight seconds, but it's been
all Oklahoma City. Since then, mitchell SGA have ten points apiece.
(18:48):
This has been like a surgeon's precision, the thunder just
taking the Lakers apart easily in piece by piece over
the last half hour. Gotta say, we were watching the
end of your Knicks game, Sorry buddy, but they show
coming up, you know, next we've got the Lakers, and
they showed a shot from inside the locker room and
they seem nice and relaxed, like they were ready to
(19:08):
come out and dominate, checking their phones, legs crossed, and
I mean not a bit of anxiousness or excitedness to
be had. So to come out with this effort and
get drummed here early second quarter, I'm a little disappointed.
Resplendent in the all purple uniforms. You know, sometimes the
uniforms can carry you. Really you look good. Times they
don't feel good. You play good today, you got nothing
(19:31):
when you're playing the champs that are eleven and one. Yeah,
it doesn't matter what uniforms you have on. If you
have one of those girls on fire Cat has Everdeen
things on, maybe that can help you. But short of that, yeah,
you need a little bit more than that. Can we
get a scenario by a small game package like this
is what the Pirates can do where they hire Stanley
Tucci to come in and be their play by play guy.
(19:51):
Oh character, okay, okay, yeah, either that or the guy
from the Devil with get to the either one. He's
a flickerman. Yeah yeah, Happy birthday, Stanley Tucciez sixty five yesterday?
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Is that right?
Speaker 1 (20:03):
How about that? Uh? Now for the Play of the day,
brought to by Ti Iraq, we harken back to a
Big Bowl prediction I made before the season that well,
let's just say, if you followed it, you're feeling pretty
good about your ticket right now. Tucking Robinson three on
the way back it in Holy mackerel, don't count. Don't count.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
One, six, seven out of ten from three point range,
Piston's Radio network on the call. Pistons beat the Bulls,
sorry buddy, and they continue to be in first place
in the Eastern Conference. They win it tonight one twenty
four to one thirteen, and I harken back. I was
(20:45):
like the word harkin. I harken back to our preseason. Hey,
if you're looking, because I'm on I'm on a long
shot heater right like by anybody's estimate. I'm on a
long shot heater because last spring, remember I told you, hey,
long shot team for the Super Bowl, Indianapolis Colts. The
promo says, the toldja Man told that was two years ago.
Told you the evidence is out there. I said, Daniel
(21:08):
Jones is gonna fit in right in this offense. You
want looking for a long shot team at plus ten thousand.
Look at where the Colts are. Best team in the
AFC right now before the season started. You want two
long shot NBA finals teams.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
I gave you the Spurs. You're welcome because I knew
Wenby was gonna be the best player in the league
at some point this year. And it looks like he's
here now, which means, okay, they're really good now. They're
near the top of the Western Conference, just just behind
Oklahoma City and in the East, I said, here come
the Pistons. Not even one hundred percent healthy, they're young,
they had the taste of the playoffs last year. It's
(21:42):
a down year in the Eastern Conference. This could be
a team that puts it all together at once. And
here they are right now, ten and two, top of
the Eastern Conference, eight players averaging at least nine points
per game. As we rolled through Kate Cunningham at twenty
seven and a half. You know, you know that's how
many shots he takes a game. Oh no, that that's
not the point. His elbow is eventually flying into the
(22:03):
third the tendonitis on. I want to talk. I don't
know how you fake, you know, like the guys switch
the ball like they catch a ball and throw a
phony one back.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
I don't know how you do that with a guy's
arm and elbow.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
It's gonna be tough.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
How do I do that? I don't know how I
pull that off.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
But you had Pistons and Spurs odds to get to
the finals at forty and fifty to one. Now the
Pistons are still like thirty to one, whereas the Spurs,
even in a crowded Western conference, and we're watching the
defending champs going to work here tonight, they have gone
down to twenty five to one. Their odds have halved.
(22:38):
We watched Wen Binyama the other night lay waste the
Chicago Bulls with a thirty eight point performance, including that
step back three, which just should be outlawed. When you're
that tall.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Yeah, yeah, it's unfair.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Yeah, well, especially his step back three is from the
free throw line.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
No, but that's it.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
He's at the free throw line. You're thinking layup. He
takes a step back. He's at mid court. So which
is bigger? The one step back from Victor wiban Yama
or that half ass eurostep thing that we saw Luca
do earlier. Is a eurostep master? Come on, Eurostep mask.
I want to go back and watch it for Fred.
How many steps did he actually take it to the rim?
(23:14):
He is the tom Imansky of the eurostep. He can
say I don't need to play anymore. I need to
put out instructional videos on how to use the eurostats.
I'm gonna get to the hoop. That's all you need
right there. He wears the big Fred McGriff high hat. Hey,
Luka Daunci and the Eurostep gets my full endorsement. Here
you go throwing a baseball into a trash cand We
got big stuff out of the NFL and a one team.
(23:37):
I can't believe they have the record they do coming
up in ninety seconds. But first Monty Belanos, who is
lighting candles for Bradley Beal and it didn't help. She
has what's trending right now the world of sports. The guy,
the guy getting hurt. It's good.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
No, no, it's not. He'll be fine, he's fine.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
The Clippers are you know, you know in the the
on social media where you see like how ass teams
are in the NFL, It's like ass mega ass, and
then at the bottom says like Jets.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
The Clippers are like the Jets, Like they're in their
own category.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Right now, below everything, below.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Everything else, like on how bad they look.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
It's good teams, it's four teams.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
It's fifty feet a crap and then there's us and then.
Speaker 7 (24:20):
There's and that's how the Clippers are right now, you
know what I'm saying. So hopefully this will eliminate I
don't know, I feel like they're they're giving everyone minutes.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
You know, it's like it's a participation trophy.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Well, no, they had a big contest and the winners
get more minutes, and it's.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
What it seems like, and the only one that should
win is James Harden.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
You're still not the Nuggets. I'm sorry. The Pelicans are
the Mavericks. That's Mavericks.
Speaker 7 (24:43):
Yeah, but they there's it's like, yeah, the Clippers are
you know, they're so annoying. We can talk about this
for hours, guys, They're just so annoying. All right, let's
talk about the games going on right now. Even though
the Clippers and the Nuggets are coming up shortly, the
Lakers are losing to the Thunder, as you guys were
briefly talking about. Forty nine to twenty six is a
score halfway through the second quarter.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
When it comes to the Suns and the Mavericks.
Speaker 7 (25:06):
Phoenixes up right now one o six to ninety still
early in the fourth quarter of that one late in
the first quarter between the Kings and the Hawks where
Atlanta is up thirty three to twenty five and coming
down to the final like eighteen seconds. It's still not over,
but it looks like the Warriors maybe handing the Spurs
their first loss at home this season. Golden State is
up right now one twenty one to one thirteen. Steph
(25:27):
Cree has forty four points. Victor one Banyama has twenty
seven points and fourteen rebounds. It was so funny. It's
just a second ago. Brandon Pajemski stole the ball and
he ran down to maybe get a quick layup, but
Victor one Banyama was right there.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
There he was, and he didn't even move.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
He traveled instead and turned the ball over because Victor
was just hovering over him, which is probably what I
would have done as well.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Got paying attention to your yeah, start taking baby.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
Steps exactly exactly.
Speaker 7 (25:53):
The Magic handed the Knicks their first loss at home,
coming out on top one twenty four to one oh
seven pistons of one eight in a row.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
They topped the Bowls one twenty four to one thirteen.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
Years over the Heat one thirty one sixteen, also Miami's
first loss at home. Also victories today for the Rockets,
the Celtics, the Hornets, and the Trail Blazers. When it
comes to the NHL, Oilers and Flyers are tied at
one apiece with five minutes to go up it's over.
Oilers just defeated the Flyers a fast five. That really
was I think my system changed.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Here five minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Five minutes it's sober. Oilers won it two to one.
It's over.
Speaker 7 (26:28):
Rangers defeated the Lightning seventy three black Hawks over the
Devil's one zero after the first period and with five
minutes to go in the second period, the Savers are
leading the mammoth to to one who FACTI.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
You know that's the thing. I don't know if you
know this, but anybody who if you have kids, you
know this that you can change time. Yes, you can
change time. Because they think about that five minutes. How
fast that five minutes went went super If your kid
is like four or five years old, six years old,
and they're playing and you're you know, you're you have
a playdate and you're there talking to the other parents.
If you're having five, it's hey, how much longer can
(27:01):
we stay? You have another five minutes? Now that five
minutes can be a half hour if you're hanging out
having fun. It could also be two minutes if I'm
ready to go. So five minutes could be a half hour,
could be two minutes. It doesn't matter. You can make
five minutes be whatever length of time you want it
to be. You changed the digital clock ahead an extra
they can stay on nine. Wait, it was only like
seven fifty.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
Says nine.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Fine, Yeah, the kid does it. He knows his basic numbers.
So just so you can play and that's that. That's
the time that Monty played with right there. Five minutes.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Now it's it's.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Very good, Thank you very much.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
So I really after today, I really I.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Have no idea how the Eagles are seven and two.
I have and part of it is I really appreciate
how they are able to win football games amidst so
much dysfunction because number one, you add the story today,
a couple of one one Eagles insider radio hosts Inhiladelphie said, hey,
(28:01):
got reports that the final play on Monday Night Football
on offense where they decide to go for it, Nick
Sirianni goes for it and they throw that long pass
to AJ Brown that that was Jalen Hurts and Brown
going rogue on the play. That was not the play
that was called, and he just threw it up deep
to AJ Brown that went rogue. Sirianni was mad, didn't
want to talk about it a lot after the game.
(28:22):
So that's not the first time that's happened, right, These
are reports out of your radio reports out of Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
That's pretty interesting considering A. J. Brown never looked for
the foota we're going rogue, We're going going rogue, and.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Instead it just dots Valentine in the middle of his back.
You were throwing to me, Oh, I see, I didn't
turn around for that. So you have this story and
then you have aj Brown on a twitch stream deciding,
you know what, why should Blake Snell have all the
twitch stream fun where he lights his football world on
(28:53):
fire talking about where his life is right now when
it comes to football. Here he is talking about how hey,
you know, in you know, in general, every day things
are really good. But outside is everyday life things aren't
so good. Take a listen.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Everything good though, like, like, you know what I'm saying,
everything but straight.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
You know what I'm saying. Mental good?
Speaker 7 (29:12):
Kids?
Speaker 6 (29:12):
Good?
Speaker 2 (29:13):
What I'm saying, whife good?
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Everything?
Speaker 4 (29:14):
No, no, no trimmer.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah, like I still got check up. You know what
I'm saying. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (29:27):
I good?
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Yeah yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Everything else no, everything show? Everything else is a blank show.
How's everything? Everything good?
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Where you've been?
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Where are you? You're watching this? Where you've been? Man?
It's all relative? I mean we're winning. Uh yeah, no,
that's you've been. Man. I don't get the football. I
don't know that really. I I can't not only can
I not believe the Eagles are seven and two. I
have so much respect for them. To still be seven
and two with this level of dysfunction that continues to
(30:02):
swirl around AJ Brown. I'd be real because what do
we say before the deadline? Right?
Speaker 7 (30:07):
And not?
Speaker 1 (30:07):
We could have been the GM. Hey, Howie Roseman, I
could have done your job from three thousand bleep in
miles away. It's not gonna work with AJ Brown, right,
it's not gonna work. You got through it last year
because you had no choice because brown situation standing with
the team thrown into a big set of flux late
in the year. Him reading on the sideline turned it
into a positive. Hey he's reading. Why is that such
(30:28):
a big deal?
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Right?
Speaker 1 (30:30):
You survived that you won the Super Bowl? Not gonna
happen again. You knew going into the deadline AJ Brown
wasn't happy. Did you go out and get a wide receiver?
Speaker 4 (30:38):
No?
Speaker 1 (30:38):
And if you lose, it's just as big an epic
fail for you as it was for the Bills not
getting a wide receiver because you knew it's not working
with AJ Brown. And here allegedly guys going rogue to
throw you know's call plays they want to go. You
needed to go and move AJ Brown, who still would
have you know, other teams would like to get him
because you look, he's fallen out of favor whatever reason.
(30:59):
It's not working in Philadelphia, and they should have got
out and got to the wide receiver, shugared it out
and got Jacoby Myers or could out and get somebody
that Hey, we're gonna pry you away because we want
to win. This is a big epic fail for the
Eagles not getting a wide receiver. We said it at
the time, so we're not second guessing because we were
first guessing this that man, you gotta go out and
get somebody the deadline because this thing is not working.
(31:21):
You found a way to win on Monday in one
of the most craptastic games that we have seen. You
have not solved your issues. You are still one foot
on the banana peel at all times, which is the Eagles,
and now you're in the middle of the controversy as
we get close to Thanksgiving. But I mean, but I
gotta say all of that, I really have a lot
of respect that they could still win with this level
(31:41):
of craziness and dysfunction. Oh that's what they being, that's
their calling card at this point under Siriani. I mean,
he's not fighting the fans the same way he did
once upon a time. You still have your guy dom
hanging around and taking care of business. What's interesting is
they're winning in spite of the lack of juice offensively
that they used to have with the run game right,
(32:04):
particularly the Saquon Barkley year obviously, but historically they always
were able to voltron together with Jalen Hurts being part
of it, a three or four man attack to be
effective on that part of the offense. This year not
nearly as close to that. DeVante Smith's your number one,
Dallas Goddard when healthy has been stable and occasionally you
(32:28):
get a John Dotson sighting. I mean, AJ Brown's had
three great games this year, and coming into the game
against Green Bay coming out of a bye, the question was,
all right, is he gonna build on the two prior
games where he'd actually been very involved in the offense,
high target count, good yardage output. Instead, No, it's three targets,
(32:48):
including the rogue where he never looks for the football, which,
again I just don't understand that if that's the call,
that's great, that it should be the Ted Lasso thing.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Hey, you know, jam you gotta be a dcar. Look,
give me the ball. I want the ball. I mean,
at least do that and sell me that you gave
me nothing.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
I mean, I can't believe the Eagles just not only
do they win, they thrive in dysfunction, and people not
let people do that, not let but this there is
only one guy.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
With the liking problem, it seems right now.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
I don't know. I think a lot when you have
the quarterback going road allegedly and and we're gonna run
plays and not the first time that's happened.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
But he's trying to help his guy.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
I really, I am. I am so incredibly I want
to know how they do it, and I also want
to know how the hell they're still seven and two
with this, Like, really, does this beget the larger discussion
of how many teams actually what's that word you like
to use? Stink? Yes, exit out bouta fresca exit swollen
down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend, like
(33:49):
Mike Garment, Like the Jets. You know they can't live
in dysfunction at all. No, no, no, that I'm sorry.
They live in dysfunction. They just can't rise above it. Correct, Yeah,
that gets this dysfunction there.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
It's all around. It's festering.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
God as Semini, you want to talk about awkward and
dysfunction coming up next? Way, do we tell you who
could be really close to returning to play. It's not Tebu.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
That would be something.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
It's coming up next right here, Jason to Mike Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Well maybe now, I mean maybe maybe the Lakers actually
are going to need Lebron James back sometime soon.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
They need something, They need some motivation. JJ Reddick, you're
a guy failing miserably in a big test.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
On national television.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, so, Lakers in Oklahoma City, which is the marquee
game of the night in the NBA is over at halftime.
The Thunder lead the Lakers seventy to thirty eight. Do
you think SGA and a bunch of guys like you know,
our buddy Chet, you think they've been reading all the
clippings or maybe seeing some of what was posted on
(35:09):
our YouTube page or across social media at how about
a fresco that's walling home, you know where you've called
Austin Reeves, Scottie Pippen. Yeah, and they said, you know, hey, hey,
that's cute. Now we go to school. We're the bulls.
We're the bulls. Okay, you could go up to that,
but we're the bulls. And is it too early to
make them twelve and one too early? Or is there
(35:31):
k twelve and one now eight at half time? Yeah,
not exactly what JJ Ruddick had in mind.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
They put up the graphic.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Okay, see it's the ninth time they've led a game
by at least twenty points. However, how a day ago
you would say the Lakers don't need this help, but
maybe now they do. As it was reported today, Lebron
James maybe on the road back to health and the
(36:02):
Laker lineup practicing with the G League team South Bay Lakers.
His sciatica is apparently getting a little bit better to
the point where hey, now you can get back and
maybe do some on court activity. So he's practicing with
the G league team. The big step towards coming back
towards the Lakers has not played, of course, this season,
(36:22):
and this has gone from, well, it's gonna be really
awkward when Lebron comes back. So awkward, so awkward, so awkward.
But now they play a game against the best team
in the NBA. Okay, And while it's been an incredible
start so far for the Lakers, right, Luca is having
an MVP type start to this year, Austin Reeves is
(36:43):
Scottie Pittman. Right, the Lakers have really no issues. But
you just see the distance between the best teams and
the Thunder and you go, oh, maybe we do need Lebron.
You know, maybe Lebron would be a bit of a
difference maker in this game. Maybe. Now, hey, what a surprise.
They're playing the Thunder on the road on a day
when the Lakers know they're gonna get boat raced, and
(37:05):
Lebron just happens to practice with the South pay life.
I know we're getting killed tonight. Yeah, I'm ready to
come back to practice because, look, it's so awkward when
he comes back. What kind of role is he going
to have? Is he gonna be Lebron James? If he's
the ball stopper Lebron and the Lakers start losing, guess what, man,
there's gonna be conversations. Lebron is gonna come back and gonna,
(37:26):
you know, try to weave his way into the lineup,
and it's gonna be awkward because the Lakers want to
move on without him. He doesn't really want to be there.
But this is what we have. We are We have
no choice but to lean on each other for the
next few months. But a night like tonight is a
big night because it kind of gets you back and
settles you to the point where, Okay, the Lakers do
some great things and you can see where their future is.
(37:48):
And after this year with Lebron and his fifty million
dollar salary gone, hey, they can get the last couple
of pieces they need to really be an NBA title contender.
But right now you are seeing that, oh man, as
good as we are, as good a start as we
have had, the gap between the teams that are contenders,
teams like the Knicks and the Pistons and the Spurs
(38:09):
and between the Thunder, it's like the distance between first
and last place in the league. It's that big well,
and that's where we can have fun. With numbers of
teams that you played. Look, you can only beat who's
on the schedule. Right, and where we sit here, it's
still just creeping up on mid November. There's a lot
of basketball to be played. I know you rue the
back to backs. They got to get those eighty two
(38:30):
games in somewhere otherwise this becomes a year round league,
which it's inching towards on a day to day basis anyway.
But yeah, Lebron getting up and down in practice. This
a little bit of five on five contact. I think
twelve to fifteen possessions is what JJ Reddick said addressing
it a little bit earlier in the afternoon. So trying
(38:52):
to figure out how he comes back in. Yeah, you'll
work it back. He's still a top fifteen player. Will
it be awkward at times? Sure, Guys have to sacrifice
some of the roles they've gotten used to. I think
that's the biggest thing, right, It's it's not necessarily the
Reeves and Luca part of it. I think, you know,
elite guys they'll figure it out. And I mean that
for Luca and Lebron. And I'll give your guy Reeves.
(39:15):
I'll put him in as the third because you're ascending
him to where he's got a statue next to Nico
outside of Lebron can be Bill Wennington. It's fine if
Luca is Wennington's a champion, right, yeah, okay, okay, okay,
I don't want I don't want to insult. If you
want to insult.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Him, and he had a good beard, Bron's got a
good beard.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Lebron can be horrible.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
I don't think. I don't Lebron can be horri annywhere goggles?
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Yeah yeah, yeah, come back with the god that Bron
can be Horrs Grant very good player, underrated in that
first three p damn it. I know pat Riley seven dollars,
but all of that say, it's the interesting next section
and the way you lay up okay, see is the
right way to do it. Of all right, when you
step up in class, sometimes you need to be humbled,
(40:00):
like the Iron Chic, the late Great Iron Chic used
to say, sometimes you need to be humbled and recognize
where you are in the banking order relative to the
greatness that is the Shekh, the champ or in this
case SGA and these Oklahoma City thunder I mean, really,
in one half of basketball, it's going from we don't
need that guy, When can we get him? When can
(40:21):
he show up? When can he get there? We don't
need I don't want to see that guy. I need
to see him right now. I need to see possession
to possession. You're now photoshopping and the inn in your head.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
He goes.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
You know, that's where he could have played a little
bit of defense or at least gotten in the way offensively.
This would have been a better set X y Z. Yeah,
So it'll be interesting to watch how quickly this gets ramped.
