Speaker 2 (00:22):
Ever give us you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Great eggs and welcome in. It's another beautiful night here
Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with me Mike Carmon.
There's no Jason Smith. He may or may not get
back tomorrow. I don't know. We'll find out when the
Big Voice guy brings us in tomorrow night. Maybe he'll
be sitting here, Maybe he'll be stuck in Michigan. Maybe
the Muskrats had their revenge.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
We don't know.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
At how about a fresco where you find them on Twitter?
You heard the laugh. It's our buddy Rich Hornberger back
with us for another night at Ornberger is where you
find them in the twitterverse. You hear him in the
mornings on San Diego Radio seven sixty down there and
on Saturday mornings on countdown here three hours of glorious
information and analysis to get you ready for your wagering
(01:14):
day and give you a little angle as to how
you watch your sporting events. Big Rich, what's going on, buddy?
Speaker 5 (01:20):
Not too much, my friend. I love how you open
the show where there is no Jason. I thought you
were gonna go with the next line only zoul.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
No that is good. No, No, that that's it. I
could have yelled I'm the captain now, I've staged a
bloodless coup, and we could have had a rogue open
that had been done with the Mike Harmon show.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
I mean there's a million ways we could have done that.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
Absolutely, I'm glad to be back with you guys for
Night two, even even though there's a tsunami.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Watch here on the West Coast.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
It's funny. We were just talking about that, Steve de
Sager and I. I mean, it's one am potential buddy.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Interesting. Interesting, I'm very curious. I mean, we live, we're
not we're not quite on the water. We're water adjacent,
so we're well.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
We did just down the coast there, San Diego area.
I'm up the coast, you know, beach cities, So it'll
be a curiosity, certainly into the night after we get
off air, and probably just sitting there waiting in our
beach chairs with a stiff drink in our hand, waiting
to see what happens.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
Yeah, well, our maker take us tonight. We don't know,
but at least for a little bit, we're here with everybody.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah, we're gonna have some fun. And in the end,
it was a pretty good run. If that's how it ends.
I always say, if I'm gonna go down, I want
it to be spectacularly. I don't want, you know, the
lonely dude sitting in his house watching wrestling reruns, you know,
a silent heart attack. No, I want to fall off
a boat and have a shark gulp me. No, I
want I want to have something spectacular. Tsunami would would
(02:52):
rise to that level.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
I think there's absolutely no question about Yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
No, certainly we could do without the devastation we've had
plenty in southern California, as folks are well aware. Watching
a lot of baseball tonight as well, we got the
Dodgers and the Reds getting after a five to four show.
How Tanis struck out four times in this game, and
he hasn't been close watching the Yankees getting after it
(03:17):
Tigers with a big win. So uh, sports, sports, sports
in it up, all around. We've got plenty from the
world of the National Football League. As we get back
into the throws of training camp and just two days
away from the Hall of Fame game, Uh, are you
really anticipating this one? Right? You're you're you're getting juiced
(03:37):
to watch Trey Lance get out there. Uh yeah, you know, excelling.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
So okay, I'll give you.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
I'll give you the pluses and the minuses of the
Hall of Fame game and the.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Preseason in general.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
This is usually the most excited I get. I would say, actually,
maybe it's more tomorrow that that it really starts flowing.
You know, when you're turning on you know, these twenty
four hours sports networks like our own, like many that
we all subscribe to, and you know, you're reading the
articles and you're listening and you're watching and you can
(04:15):
hear the general excitement and then you know, you even
turn on the network programming leading up to kickoff and
you know you're you're hearing voices for the first time
that you know, you you you walked away from what
feels like years ago, but it was only it was
only just months, you know, after the football season ended,
and you're you know, you're excited, and.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
You know they're excited, even nervous, dare I say?
Speaker 5 (04:39):
And and then kickoff happens and you realize, oh, this
is just like any other preseason game. We're barely going
to see starters throwing footballs, catching footballs, running with footballs.
It's going to be a lot of guys who man,
you know, the times are short on the football field
for a lot of these guys in the preseason, and
they fought their way onto rosters and many of them
(05:00):
will never be on rosters again. And those are the breaks,
and so the football isn't great. A lot of nervousness
on the field as well, and then you just sort
of slog through the rest of the preseason, signing up
for fantasy drafts and the like.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
And so this is about as excited as.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
I can possibly be four preseason football as days before
it actually kicks off.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Now I got my first notice, Hey, we're doing an
article on running back sleepers and breakthroughs. Can you give
us that by noon tomorrow? So you know, I've got
a homework assignment after I'm done with the show while
I wait for the tsunami. See, that's how I'll pass
the time.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I'll get diving.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Down into those mid tier running backs and backups looking
to break through. As I mentioned, Trey Lance gonna get
the shot. And I'm still in that. Call me curious,
going all the way back to when he was drafted
so highly by the forty nine ers, where they've gotten
a lot of things right and a couple of very
notable misses, a little stop through in Dallas, and now
(06:02):
he comes to where Jim Harbaugh has great expectations for
for Justin Herbert. But I want to say, you know,
both both horrorball brothers. If nothing else, I know, I
gotta get on their good side because the two of
the best heype men you're ever gonna find.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Yeah, there's no question about it. I you know what
I think.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
I think one of the things that the NFL really
did a nice job of over the years.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
And I know this is probably.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
It probably would be more commonplace in other sports too
if they were as popular is you don't just attach
yourself to the star players, You really find yourself attached
to many of these coaches as well.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
You reference the horrorbas of the world, but you.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Know, even Bill Belichick, who wasn't friendly to the media,
was still one of those tropes that everybody seemed to
like to follow. Pete Carroll being back in the league,
I don't think is a bad thing. And then some
of the new blood, the Dan Campbell's of the world,
with the you know, biting kneecaps. Obviously his lines will
take the field, you know, help kick off the football season.
(07:08):
Like I think that's one of the more unique parts
of the NFL MIC is the fact that we know
not only so many of the players' names, and I
think there's there's a little bit more of a fascination
with them for obvious reasons, but also the coaches and
the coordinators are so immensely important to the success of
this league. You know, Sean mcvayh they're asking him about
(07:30):
his you know, his uh Virgin Island uh vacation where
picks emerged from, you know what I mean, Like, they're
they're just as fascinating as the players now.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
And I think that was a smart move for the NFL.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Because coaches obviously can and do oftentimes last much longer
in the league, and you can follow them from team
to team or potentially, if they're lucky, like a Mike Tomlin,
they can stick with one team for a very long time.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Yeah, that is the always the fun game to play
in terms of law longevity. You go back Tomlin at
two thousand and seven, Harbaugh eight, and then Andy Reid
at twenty thirteen. You're next up on the list. Is
where you get to McDermott, you get to McVeigh, and
you get to Shanahan all hired in twenty seventeen. To
your point, McVeigh as many people asking questions about what
(08:17):
he puts into his body and his workout regimen to
get his abs as they are about, you know, the
back issues we talked about with Matthew Stafford last night.
I gotta listen to the whole show. I mean, you
find the podcast wherever you get your audio. But it's
just that because we do have that turnover and there's
that curiosity of what the next guy will will bring
(08:38):
bring to bear, and for some cities it's the all right,
who's the next guy in line to be fired? Versus
do we actually have an opportunity to sell hope? And
we turn our attention to the city of Cleveland. We
talked about them a lot from the quarterbacking position. But
today Jimmy haslm the Haslam's got in front of the
microphone answering a ton of questions. You've got quarterback issue,
(09:01):
You've got Judkins unsigned and going, the number of domestic
violence issues going on in Cleveland that they've had over
the course of the year. So that is swirling just
so many different pieces. But let's hear from from Jimmy
Haslam on the quarterback situation.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
We have good process, okay. And if you'd have told
me Friday night driving home you all to go to
pict Suador, I would say that that's not happening. But
we had a conversation early that morning, and then we
had a conversation later that day. I think we had
the right people involved in the conversation. At the end
of the day. That's Andrew Berry's call. Andrew made the
call to picture Door.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
I love that because he has now put Andrew Berry
front and center in the crossfire. I was waiting for
decides wipe by just saying it was also him that
wanted Deshaun Watson. So you know, strike too. If this
goes bad, it's over there, because it was all a
speculation that the owner stepped in and said, hey, go
(09:59):
get the name right, go get us a headline, go
do this, and he's doing everything he can now as
we've had day to day, and it's something we talked
about a little bit yesterday. But the show's always evolving,
changing the audience as well. For those that missed it,
Chador and everybody else, you got your highs, you got
your lows. We've had guys in Chicago they've been thrown
off the field for not running the right route, not
(10:21):
knowing the play calls, etc. We've seen it across the NFL.
You get so many storylines going through, so you know,
you ride the lightning in terms of deciding and deciphering
what's real from imagine rich but that's certainly been the
case for Shador Sanders. I just thought it was interesting
that it wasn't you know as much as you would
(10:43):
at least take some credit of Hey, it was a
collective No, that's all Andrew. So all questions directed to
every errant throw or failure in this regard, I don't
want it. I don't want you to barking up my
tree with this one.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Yeah, and he you is the head that where's the crown?
Speaker 5 (11:00):
If you are lucky enough to get one of these
thirty two jobs in the NFL, where whether we're talking
about a head coach or a general manager job, or
president of pro player personnel or president of college personnel,
like what one of these roles where you are in
charge of a massive part of either team building or
(11:23):
team coaching, you have inherited an unfortunate amount of responsibility
from an owner who doesn't often want to be in
the spotlight. We're just talking about how it's actually good
for the health of the league, how many coaches are
known commodities, and how fan bases will trade on those commodities.
(11:46):
As much as their hopes rely on star quarterbacks, they
oftentimes and do rely on star coaches. And so if
you're one of these lucky personnel managers or coaches as mentioned, Yeah,
I mean, you can become rich, and you can become
(12:06):
famous if that's what you're chasing.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
You can be heralded and sought after.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
But also, I mean, we know exactly where everything rolls,
and that's downhill, and nobody's at the top of the
hill more than the owner of an organization, and he.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Will let it roll wherever he wants.
Speaker 5 (12:24):
So, yeah, you're gonna be paid a king's ransom, but
you're also going to be left holding the bag if
things don't work out. And I mean it's it's kind
of the old mel Brooks line.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
It's good to be the king, you know.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
I mean, it is good to be the owner of
one of these two NFL franchises because you get to
shrug off the responsibility wherever.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
You want to.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
Owners like Jerry Jones, Mike you know it, I know it.
He wants all the smoke. He doesn't care if he's
responsible or his coach is responsible.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
He just wants people talking about the Dallas capital. That's right.
Owners like Jimmy Haslin, they're not built that way. They
don't want the smoke like that.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Well, it's it with Jerry Jones. Let's see, I still
get to cash the checks. Say what you want. You
can't get rid of me. You can't force me out,
of course, as long as you don't go down. You
know the list of guys like we have seen extricated
from their their lofty purchase as team owners in the
different sports But the other thing Haslam had to address
(13:25):
because his name has been circulated quite a bit with
another quarterback who may or may not find his way
to the NFL in short order. You know, the guy
who's already been deified with very few snaps at the
collegiate level. I know you guys cover it a bit
on Countdown. We'll do it here. Here's Haslam talking about
a certain quarterback at the collegiate level.
Speaker 6 (13:47):
Well, Tony, you know, you're in the business, and you
get paid by how many hits you get you, Okay,
And I think if you know the Manning family, I
would bet that, and I don't know ours at all. Okay,
I bet he stays in college two years. So that's
I don't even think that's worth discussing me.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
So I'm not even gonna discuss it. Beat it with
your arch Manning because everybody's connected the dots, because he
knows the family. He knows Grandpa, and he knows you know,
the dad and uncles and everything else. That they were
starting to line it up because, as we've talked about, Cleveland,
one of those teams on the low end of your
expected over underwin totals, depending on which source you're looking
(14:22):
at four and a half, five maybe five and a
half with a group of other teams, but just dismissing
it categorically because you've seen four years from both the
Eli and Peyton, but also for Arch, we have no idea.
Yeah right, I mean the expectations are he's gonna be great, right,
Kupper was supposed to be the great athlete. Well he
wasn't a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Now, I think it's uh.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
I think it's actually really think about how disheartening it
is for Browns fan to have headlines like this swirling
before the season even kicks off.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Sure like your team.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
May be so bad on paper, or at very least
one of the teams that could be even speculated to
lose enough games.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
We're talking about.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
Winning less than a handful of games to be in
the sweepstakes for a super talent like Arch Manning, who,
by the way, we also don't even know if we'll
be available in this next year's draft. Here's the here's
one caveat that I want to throw into the mix
here that not enough people are talking about, are thinking about.
Did this work for the Chargers when they drafted Eli? No, No,
(15:32):
it did not. Eli wasn't going to go to just
any team. He was going to go to the right team,
and it ended up netting him.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
Two Super Bowls, two Super Bowl victories.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
By the way, I think it would be very foolhardy
for any team, especially one with as as abysmal luck
as the Browns have had at the quarterback position, to
tank on purpose for a man, because I don't think
Arch Manning would be going.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
To Cleveland anyway, just based on a track record alone.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
No, I think you're one hundred percent right. I mean,
especially in a day and age. I mean, Eli did
it so many years ago. He still gets criticized somehow.
John Elway still gets Scott off, Scott free in most
conversations about what he did because he had the baseball
leverage to it all at the time. But when we
look at it in an age where players are empowered
and archers made a lot of money from nil and
(16:32):
he will continue to make a lot of money in
this system, that yeah, he can afford to force the
issue and sit and wait for the opportunity, whether that's
New Orleans who may be equally bad, or somebody else
as the situation dictates. But we'll keep an eye on that.
As we flow, he's Rich Hornberger in for Jason Smith
(16:54):
on Mike Carmen as we're just getting warmed up here
Fox Sports Radio and coming up next, well we go
to the other owner because he put his PT Barnum
hat on and said, this is the greatest show. Never
mind with that Haslum guys staying over there. You know
exactly who I'm talking about. We'll do that next. For
over forty years, Tyrack's been helping customers find the right
tires for how, what and where they drive. Shitass and
(17:15):
free back by free road hazard protection with convenient installation
options like mobile tire installation. That's right, don't bring the
tires to you ty rack dot Com the Wait Tire Buying.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Welcome back in Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with
Me Mike Harmon. No Jason Smith tonight. Maybe we've staged
a coup. Maybe it's time. All right, check in on
Matt how about a fresco see how he's doing. Find
me over at swollen dome. Find Rich at Ornberger. We
appreciate you being with us, giving us a few minutes
(17:58):
of your time if you're heading out and about maybe
walking the dog, going for a walk ahead of the
tsunami watch here in southern California. I mean you take
us with you on the iHeartRadio app wherever you go,
twenty four hours a day of the greatness of everything
we do the oral presentation here on Fox Sports Radio.
And Rich, you know, we had the Jimmy Haslam that
(18:19):
we started the show with and he had to address
a number of issues. We had the arch man and
talking about the drafting a Shador Sanders standing there and
basically pointing at his GM blame him if this goes south,
as it were. And then we got Jerry Jones who
continues to squabble with star players and we know it's
part of the great theatrics before finally inking someone on
(18:43):
the bottom line. But you know, he decided to poke
the bear once again today going after Michaeh. Parsons saying
the chance for the team to pay Micah Parsons are
quote a faint little sound. I heard it light, but
not compared to how I I heard him say, pay Lamb.
Last year, that was a faint little sound compared to
(19:05):
the way we're hollering last year, pay Lamb. Whoever's not
in you can count on a few hollering that. But
it was a big loud chant last year on Lamb.
Can't help himself, man.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
He can't.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
And and here's the thing, he's not wrong. He's not wrong,
and he's not wrong for so many reasons. I mean, specifically,
if there's one reason why, I mean, are we really
I'm talking very generalized football fans in general rooting for
pass rushers.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
No, not really.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
I do in my tap or pass system, depending on
how you want to do it, rich because I'm a nerd.
I thrower, an attacker, and a protector. You can add
everything else.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
You are one hundred percent a nerd, and I love
you for it. But there's so many people who watch
football who aren't.
Speaker 5 (19:57):
Like I mean, I seriously enjoy the analytical part of
the game as much as I do the brutality and
the entertainment value. But Jerry Jones is trying to sell sweets.
Jerry Jones is trying to sell popped corn. Jerry Jones
is trying to create a circus, and he is wearing
the tall hat, and he's standing next to the lion tamer,
and he's standing next to the trapeze artist, and they're
(20:19):
about to start the show, and they're missing something, and
they're missing something, and he's thinking to himself like, well, geez,
I mean, can we really have a circus, a true
circus without the elephant?
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Yeah? We probably could for a few shows.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
So if this Micah Parsons, and I mean, and I'm
not calling Micah an elephant for any other reason but
because it just fits the metaphor.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
But for a couple of shows, even if Micah held out.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
Through training camp, say that if it got bad, or
if he held out a couple of.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Games during the regular season, would the team miss him? Absolutely?
Speaker 5 (20:54):
Would the team be affected big time by Micah Parsons
not being there is sure, Yes, obviously. But would fans
be as upset with Jerry Jones as they would be
if he forced a situation like that with Ceedee Lamb.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
The answer is no.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
No, because he's not as big of box office as
one of the leading receivers in the NFL, and so
he's not wrong.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Now, is he wrong for saying it? Yes?
Speaker 5 (21:22):
Like so many things that Jerry Jones says publicly. Sometimes
these are indoor conversations. You don't need to be having
them on the front porch. But he can't help himself.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Mike, No, and that's the end game, all right. Sexiness
and Micah Parsons fantastic defender. You see the big plays
and they are numerous through the years, no question about it.
But to your point, you paid Dak top of market.
Remember he got side swiped by Jerry what was it
about a week ago with some comments of hey, we
(21:53):
paid that guy and then he wasn't available. I mean,
what do you want me to do? That was when
he and Mike Brown were getting a little wild with
their comments and being called the task for all right,
now you're going into worst case scenarios on all your
players of what could happen. Jerry took the more tried
and true approach of guys could get hurt. Mike Brown
got in trouble with some because he suggested, hey, they're
(22:14):
unavailable because they're acting out of sorts and finding themselves
in legal trouble. Either way, same thing, the idea that
your star players are unavailable to you. But for Jerry,
I mean, it's part of the side show, and he's right,
and you're absolutely right about it too. Is that, you know,
the offensive side of the ball gets so much more
(22:35):
talk about the fantasy football stuff that I'm starting to
be asked to do. Nobody's asking me for IDP advice
right where we're trying to determine. And it's always funny
to me because tackles are not an official stat so
you get a little bit of home cooking from the statistician.
All right, Ray Lewis, Brian Urlac or Luke Keigley, all
(22:55):
those guys. You go back and watch the tapes, it's
kind of like guys try to do and and sort out.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
You know.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Nick Wright, one of his main tasks, it seems, in
addition to hosting his show, is going through old Michael
Jordan film and having people do it to try to
tear away some of the myth. It's the same thing
you can do with a lot of linebackers. Was he
actually in on the tackle? No, but he touched the
guy's leg as they was getting off the pile. Give
him a half a tackle and move on. But you
(23:21):
know that doesn't sell. Giant receiving totals touchdown catches, toe taps,
and your quarterback having brilliant statistics gets the day done.
And that's the thing, right. You don't get a lot
of headlines a lot of success with a great defense.
But we've certainly not seen Jerry necessarily invest wisely on
that side of the ball for a long long time.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Yeah, yeah, lost.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
I mean, look, there's no doubt that from a defensive
prowess standpoint, Mike and I were not saying for a
second that Micah Parsons is in a dominating cornerstone of
a doubt defense or a guy who analytically hasn't impressed
literally everyone who pays attention to football. I mean, PFF
(24:09):
Pro Football Focus routinely has him in the nineties out
of one hundred percent grade on his impact on the field,
which is an absurdly high measurement. He's amassed a tremendous
amount of sacks in his young career. We know how
important that statistic is in football, because if you're harassing
or taking down the quarterback, you are affecting the game
(24:33):
horribly horridly for an opposing offense. And then from a
team leadership standpoint and a morale standpoint, I mean he
is also one of the leading voices in that locker room.
Players feel more secure when their star players are on
the field with them, so that means the whole of
the defense is going to be playing better. Doesn't matter
how far divorced from the position of pass rusher or
(24:55):
edge rusher. The position I'm talking about is it could
be the opposite corner. It could be the deep safety
playing cover three, you know, over the middle of the field.
It could be the linebacker who has, you know, a
short coverage responsibility or filling a gap in the run.
When you have Micah Parsons on the field, you're more
(25:17):
comfortable playing your position because you know you have an
absolute star and potentially future Hall of Famer on the
field with you.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
That that all impacts.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
Everything, not just Jerry and Micah and their two pocketbooks.
Like this is going to have a resounding effect on
the rest of this roster, and then it doesn't just
affect the defense offensively too. When you know your defense
is going to get you the ball back or you're
in a tight game and all it comes down to,
potentially is one force fumble, one strip sack, one big
(25:52):
play to knock a team out.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
Of field goal range.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
Those are the plays that Micah Parsons seems to generate
in the clutch. So even from an offensive standpoint, he
can turn a game around for you because he can
get you more opportunities throughout the season to do your job. So, yeah,
this isn't just a Jerry Micah situation. This is a
team altering decision and negotiation obviously. And if you're asking
(26:19):
for my best guess, my best guess is it gets
hammered out pretty soon here.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yeah, coming towards the end of the run, right, we
start getting into preseason games and before long we're in
that first weekend of the NFL season where we know
all bets are off at that point. In terms of
these negotiations. Tyler Dighton, we talked about him yesterday, didn't
tearras acl has the leg injury though that we'll keep
(26:45):
him out four to six weeks at a minimum. Kyln Carson,
their cornerback, hyper extended knee that happened over the weekend.
They're saying it's going to be four to six weeks
for him as well, So you've got that. Here's a
quote from Ceedee Lamb. This goes back to some of
the conversation from last week rich as Jerry went after
his surprize guys dak and for Micah quote, playing this
(27:09):
media game with Jerry's not the best. It's not fun
and it's not recommended. Micah knows what he brings to
the table. He should get what he deserves. I'm not
indulging it in any of the craziness they got going,
but I do want Micae to get paid and soon. Yeah,
look at that the voice of reason. Of course, he's
sitting on a giant fat stack. Is like Hugh from
Breaking Bad. Remember that episode when he was laying down
(27:31):
on the pile of money like it was a bed.
That's kind of CD as he's talking this one out.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
Yeah, I mean when when you when you are literally
taking this interview and if you have a sniffle, you're
wiping your nose with a with a Benjamin you know
what I mean?
Speaker 4 (27:46):
It doesn't it.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
Of course he's rooting for for Mica to get his too.
He's about to join a very elite club in the
NFL of guys who ink those you know, really landmark
or or league shifting deals. I mean, Micah Parsons potentially
could end up being the highest paid defensive player in
the history of the NFL when all is said and done,
(28:09):
And for anybody who's thinking, well, I mean.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
There's salary caps and there's restrictions.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
That the Dallas Cowboys have to follow, and how could
they break him off after they broke off Stevie Lamb.
Trust me when I tell you, anytime you hear an
owner claim poverty and I'm not even saying that Jerry
Jones is claiming that in this case, or anytime you
hear an owner who's saying, yeah, I mean, well, listen,
you know, the cap is tied and we're trying to
work on the numbers, and obviously there's a lot of.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Mouths to feed and stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
Where there is a will, there is always a way,
And those, my friends, are what I call excuses, and
they're convenient ones, because there is always a way to
part with a little bit more money to keep a
player in house as long as you really want them.
It just comes down to how bad does Jerry want him,
(29:00):
and how much of this is negotiation tactic and how
much of this is just bluster because he likes again,
he likes the hype.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Yeah, and if nothing else, we do always get the
Green Bay Packers notes and we got it last week.
They got four hundred and thirty two million dollars from
national revenue salary cap is two hundred and seventy nine million.
That leaves you one hundred and fifty three million dollars
of profit or a revenue minus whatever your operating expenses are.
(29:30):
So and that's not including local deals, endorsements, partnerships around
your stadium, ticket sales that you get to keep, et cetera.
So you know, just a little food for thought there
as you talk about NFL teams and what they can
and cannot part with. Hey, your next success can begin
sooner than you think. And University of Maryland Global Campus

to where my kids were and their hotel Transylvania Love.
So that's what I'm doing. Steve Desager. That was a
while ago.
Speaker 7 (30:29):
Yes, by the way, you talked about the Packers. Their
pure profit from operations this past year was over eighty
million dollars.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
See there he goes, Wow, there you go, he just
spiked a football. You didn't see it rich of.
Speaker 7 (30:43):
Course, you know they did have an extra home game,
So I guess that's why it's more than the sixty
million dollars.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Of pure profit they made.
Speaker 7 (30:50):
The well for a White Sox fan, let's just get
it out of the way, I get it. Andrew Vaughn

beating the Cubs.
Speaker 3 (31:07):

Speaker 7 (31:08):
Andrew vaugh with the White Sox this year batted one
eighty nine about two hundred plate appearances. He has about
fifty plate appearances as a Milwaukee Brewer. He had five
homers then he already has five Homers with his new
team already has more RBIs than all his time with
the White Sox earlier this year, and he's batting three
seventy five with Milwaukee. He had six rbiyes against the

Absolutely has one of. Those AND i don't know how
to describe.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
It maybe it's the, grip maybe it's the, wood maybe
IT'S i don't know if the contact point the sweet
spot for, Him but there's no. Question And i've seen
a lot Of phillies, baseball especially In september when the games,
Matter he's he's been pretty clutch for. Them it's it's
he's a pretty substantial power hitter in that lineup and
(37:05):
has done great things since he's Left, chicago no.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Question, yeah we certainly celebrated his heroics at The All Star,
game and you, know watch him as one of those. Guys.
Look philly has several of them in their, history one
of which became an eventual well one of the. MONIKERS
i had Baby bowl WHERE i kind of looked Like Greg.
Luzinski go back and look at the size of the man's, tree,
(37:28):
trunk legs and copious. Ass he was the bull on
the roof for years and as a little ballplayer back
WHEN i was eleven twelve years, Old, yeah might have
resembled a little bit Of Greg, luzinski including the big
glasses that my mom had me wearing at the. Time all,
right now a STORY i want to start here and
we'll carry it over into the next. Hour rich is you,
(37:51):
know we're looking across The National Football. League we're celebrating.
Youth we'll do a little bit on that later. On
we talk About Micah. Parsons you mentioned some of the
the analytics and where he. Ranks you, Know madden only
gave him a ninety. Eight who got the ninety nine's
we'll talk about that. Later but out In pittsburgh where
they they know. Something, oh they've got a Future hall
Of fame quarterback in the waiting In Ben. Roethlisberger but
(38:14):
now you have one who shows up In Aaron. Rodgers
And Jerry dulax been there. Forever he did an appearance
on one oh two point FIVE wv dve uh and, said,
quote he's the greatest thrower of the Football i've ever,
seen even at forty, one that flick of the wrist
and the ball comes, out it's moving and it's something to.
(38:35):
See is he trying to get access or has he
got something here based on you, know what you've seen
around the game in your, Years RICH.
Speaker 5 (38:44):
I mean it's it's difficult to. SAY i will say,
this there is there's definitely something different when somebody knows
how to spin it and and.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
And that is what it.
Speaker 5 (38:55):
Is it feels like something extra happens at the real least.
Point that's hard to, describe whether you know it is
a flick of the wrist or if it's you, KNOW
i don't, know long tendrils for fingers that seem to
just put a little bit extra whip on the. Ball
but there are guys around the game who obviously have
had success at that position who give you those, feelings you,
(39:21):
know the damn renos of the world or the you,
KNOW i guess a more modern example of that would
be like A Josh allen who's retooled his throwing motion
to make it a little bit more. Explosive, still it
just feels like the ball just explodes off their.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
Hand it really.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Does, yeah it's fun fun to watch him in as
we watch this next iteration of What Aaron rodgers has
had a fantastic back end of the twenty twenty four,

adams running about with him And Garrett, wilson who just
