(01:02):
things to tonight in the NBA. Right we're waiting for
the late game. Right now, it looks like the Cavs
are gonna beat the Pacers. They're up one twelve ninety
five with about seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
But really, there's two things going on tonight. There's the games.
But what we're really all doing is we're waiting for
the Knicks game tomorrow. Like, really, we're waiting for Nick Celtics, right,
I mean, honestly, we're winning. We're waiting New York, go
(01:25):
New York.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Go here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah, we're wait. I'm on drying, I'm walking around just
going go New York. That's in my head today. Hey,
signal you jerk. Yeah, go New York, O New York.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Yeah, yeah, beat you off.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
How you doing Yeah, go New York, go New York.
Co go to Oh yeah. Absolute. So really we're waiting
for the Knick Celtics. That's what tonight is. We have
a couple of games to take our attention, but we're
waiting for the Knicks and the Celtics, which has become
the series of all the NBA series. I don't make
the rules. I don't make the rules. I just follow them.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I mean, you're not wrong that that game, for some reason,
is drawing a lot of attention. I am interested and
to see what happens at Madison Square Garden for Game three.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
You are not wrong.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I am one hundred percent probably more into that game
then this Game three, even though it's a very similar
situation where the Calves, who should be a to zero
are down to zero.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Same thing with Boston, very similar situation. But you're right, the.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Knicks and the Celtics have been the exciting matchup.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
If the roof is still on at MSG tomorrow when
the game begins, I'll be disappointed because I'm telling you,
I said it right after the one game two four
that you're not we'll play outdoors, We'll we'll play in
a battleship. No find people aren't going to understand you say, oh,
home court advantage. It's going to be the most insane
(02:41):
basketball crowd you have seen at MSG or anywhere else
in probably a decade plus. That's how crazy. Like I'm
three thousand miles away in on this crazy, I know
crazy it is in New York. It's seven hundred dollars
a ticket. And that's if you want to just go.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Stand, just just be there.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Do you want to breathe there? If you want to
stand and bring Spike Lee something to eat like that's
what it's going to cost you. Hey, can I come
down for a second? Yeah, yeah, come down. Like no
one is ready for what that atmosphere is going to
I wouldn't be surprised if you're the middle of the
first quarter, people start running on the court, Ben Stiller
and risk A Hargetay run out. There's there's a big
brawl happening, Like that's what the crowd is going to
(03:18):
be tomorrow. It's going to be absolutely crazy.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
And you know it's also going to be crazy outside
of Madison Square Garden. I can only imagine people just
want to be there because of the excitement.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Even if you can't get in go there. I'll just
go just to be there, just to see what I
could see.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
It's actually one hundred dollars to get within five blocks.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
I would not surprise me if that's the real situation,
because there is so much hype on it and it's
just like not that the Celtics are down to zero,
but it's like Jalen Brunson actually being mister clutch. It's
you know, Jason Tatum not delivering in those crews. It's
so much to it. There's so many storylines within one
(03:55):
matchup and it's yeah, I mean, you might be right,
but that is probably what we're all waiting for.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Yeah, and I'll tell you this right because now, because
this whole week has been go New York, Go New
York though, right, Yeah, but honestly, because I do have
a big concern, a big way, and it's not gonna
where I'm gonna say, here's my big worry. How many
points are we gonna win by? No? No, no, no.
I do have a big word because this is this
is legit for the Knicks and what we've seen the
last few days. Can they handle success, because that's the
(04:20):
big thing, because now they go win, they win two
games they weren't supposed to win. The entire city is crazy,
the media is crazy, the fans are crazy. It's hard
not to get caught up in this. And for a
lot of teams to play in big markets that haven't
had the success that they're used to, once they get
to that point where hey, the spotlight's on you, we
(04:40):
start to wilt a little bit. Right. You look at
teams in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, some of the
second teams that are hey, we're starting to get some
attention yeah, the minute it gets to be really difficult.
Guess what they melt right, It happens to the Jets,
I'm worried to happen to the Knicks. You see it
with the Clippers. Sorry too soon?
Speaker 3 (04:56):
So okay, it's never too soon.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
The there's any sort of expectations, Hey now we're here
is when things just happen to them because they're not
used to it. And that's my honestly, my big concern
is are they gonna come out like, even with that crowd,
are they gonna come out flat? Is Tatum gonna come
out and hit four shots in the first you know,
thirty five seconds, suddenly it's twelve nothing and TIBs is
getting a time out, and it's what the hell is happening?
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Right?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Like, are they gonna come out with some kind of
the big effort they're gonna need to really put a
dagger in the series, or are they gonna, Hey, we're
playing our game and eventually we'll take over in the
third quarter. Because neither team has played well in the series,
like it's basically it's been. The Celtics have just played worse, right,
and the Knicks have played more physical and better in
the clutch. But it's not like the Knicks have played great.
I'll look at the first two and a half quarters.
(05:40):
Knicks have been awful, but they find a way at
the end. But that's my big thing. Are they ready
to handle success? That's honestly, that's the only question because
the matchup being up to zip home, having having home
court three in the next having the Celtics have to
win four to the next five like everything else is there,
But how do they handle success?
Speaker 2 (05:57):
And that's a really good question, because you're not wrong.
If you don't know how to be successful consistently, you
won't know until you get there.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
And they are having success.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
The thing that I'm gonna give you the silver lining
here is how they have won in Boston. Right They're
not playing in a small market and winning. They're playing
in a tough market, probably getting yelled at, probably getting
booed every second that they step on the court. So
they're familiar a little bit with maybe a controversial.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Area or arena.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
But you're right, how can you maintain success if you've
never really been there And they haven't been there in
a minute. So right now they're successful, but can they
maintain that? And that is a good A good question.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Honestly, it's my big it's my big concern. Am I
going to be watching Ben Stiller just throwing up on
the sideline tomorrow? What am I going to see? Crazy
going to run on the court and start yelling at
Jalen Brunson, Like what am I going to say? Right?
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Are you going to see the Knicks stayed disciplined in
this very you know? You know Boston is going to
come out swinging, trying to kick you know what. See.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
I'm hoping they come out like, hey, it's done, this
is not our year work. Let me tell you that
I want them to come out that come out like that.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
No, No, they might all call Draymond Green to give
them a pep talk to come out as the Draymond Greens,
all five of them, sure, because that.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
They know they can't go down three. They know that.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
So you have to already anticipate Boston coming out like
you haven't seen them before. Boston, though, has won, right,
they've been here, and that's what you're saying, The Knicks
have not necessarily been here. Can they maintain maintain the success?
Can they stay disciplined in Game three at home?
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I don't know. That's a big question. I mean, look, question,
it's the biggest and at least we have these games
tonight to distract us from that big question.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, distrect you.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
We should get to the games a little bit. Distract
every Look, I think if you told everybody, you tell
every NBA fan, Okay, you can either watch every series
but the Knicks and Celtics, or just the Knicks and Celtics.
The average NBA fan would say Nixon Celtics.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Absolutely. I don't think that's session and that's the series.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Now, it's the set the two XCS teams, right, all
the other teams you're talking about some small market teams,
Uh not with the not nearly the star power of
Boston and New York. Yeah, that's it. I again, I
don't make the rules. How big the Knicks and Celtics is.
I don't know. The Lakers Rids all of a sudden,
Hey look at the Niggs, all of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Hey all Righty's injury all of a sudden.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
That doesn't seem as interesting.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
No, no, no, I'm just thinking, Okay, we win this series,
we beat the Pacers, we go to the finals, who
were playing in the final we're gonna play the thunder
Like that's what I'm at right now. What you got, Frostburg.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
It's such a big game that it's not even on
in prime time.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Well, here's the thing. I am a little surprised that
it's at three point thirty in the afternoon, Like, what
the hell are you doing? I can't believe they didn't
change that like three four days ago. But I don't care.
I don't I don't care.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
It's gonna go to work, New York, play that.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Game at midnight. I'll play that game at four am.
I don't care. I wanted to play the game yesterday
at noon. That's how fast I wanted to play this game.
Let's go, let's go. I'm ready.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
That's probably how fast you're going to fast forward this game.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
That is it? And just think about this, Just think
about this decision by the NBA, knowing ahead of time,
they're gonna put this game at three thirty in the afternoon,
even if the Celtics were up two zip over the Knicks. Okay,
two zip Celtics going home against the Knicks. We're gonna
put this thing on a three thirty in the afternoon,
Like like, okay, that that could have been a better decision,
absolutely could have been a more flexible decision.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Especially in New York. Yeah again in the market. Yeah again,
we're talking markets here. And you think the NBA would
have adjusted it. Why they did it, I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
I mean, maybe they don't want to compete with the Mets.
I mean, you know, the met Mets are on Sodo's
heating up.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
You know, I may never know.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Really, you can't compete with the Mets. Now, the other
game tonight, as we said a few minutes ago, it
looks like it's going to be a victory for the Cavaliers.
And yes, with just under six minutes left to go,
Cavaliers lead the Pacers one fourteen to ninety six. Donovid
Mitchell at the free throw line, shooting technicals. Look, this
is not surprising because sometimes it's as simple as Hey,
(09:54):
a team that runs nine deep rotation wise, this is
why they had the best offense in the end. Right,
you can lose one star, you can lose one really
good player, and you can plug and player. This is
what the best coaches do, what the best teams do. Hey,
when when your star player is out, this is one
piece of the puzzle we're taking out and now we're
gonna go here. Yeah, we'll miss him, but we have
a good enough team. When you when you play a
(10:17):
nine person rotation and everybody contributes and you're missing a
third of those guys, you're gonna struggle. I mean, sometimes
it's just as simple as bling. The Cavaliers three healthy studs.
It all came back tonight, right, including Garland, an All
star who's missed the last few games with a bad toe,
who they were able to get by without.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Right.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
They were able to get by without Garland, no problem.
But now you're missing two other players that are big
parts of what you do. Gets really hard. You get
guys who haven't played in months, and they're going, I
gotta play. I usually have popcorn and and and and
try to look for any any really really good looking
people and or what what stars are at that I
don't play many minutes. You really want me to now,
(10:55):
I mean I've played like eight minutes in the last
three months. Now you want me to play like? That's
what the Cavaliers have had to do. So it's no
surprise because the Pacers are a bad matchup for Cleveland.
Right In generally they're a bad matchup and you're down
three of your best players. I mean three are big
rotation guys. It's impossible. I mean it's really rant. And
now they're back tonight and it hasn't been a game
in a long time. Is now a twenty one point
(11:16):
lead for the Caves.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, it started eleven zero and you're right, it hasn't
changed anything. I think Indiana brought it within maybe eight
or seven at one point.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
But the Cavaliers seem comfortable.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
They took a sigh of relief right before the game
started when they were told all three of their players were.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Coming back for this one.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
And Indiana, as I know, it's not a good matchup,
but Indiana also I feel like for the playoffs, you
can't just rely on scoring by committee, and the Pacers
do that. So I knew they were going to come
back down to earth, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
And here we have Tyrese.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Haliburn four points today, four points yeah, after what he
just did in games.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
One and two.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
But scoring by committee gets hard when it comes to
the postseason, when it comes to the playoffs, and here
the Calves are just kind of like great team is back.
What do we have to worry about. And that's what
it looks like.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Yeah, and you know you mentioned Haliburton, and that's a
big thing because too many games. For he's too good
a player to have the number of games like this
that he does. Rightee, he had a horrible game last
game until the fourth quarter he had four shots, Like
how did your best player have four shots in the
first three quarters? Right, that's not happening. But he has
too many games like not that it's every game, but
(12:23):
there's too many. When you notice, boy Halliburton really is
not he's not really into the game. He's only got
eight shots, like he gets caught up and distributing. He's
got to understand that you make this team go. And
he has too many games where you look at his
numbers and go, wow, it doesn't even feel like you
tried to impact the game. Right, there's one thing about
if he was two for sixteen or two for eighteen, Okay,
I get it, you tried. It wasn't your night. But
(12:45):
when I say next when he's two for eight and
you know, I like like that that can't happen. That
tells me you're not aggressive enough. And there's too many
games he has.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Like this, That's what I saying.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
It's like the Pacers rely on scoring by committee. We
saw that throughout the season when yes, Tyree should be
the guy, but he is a bit streaky, and I
don't know if if when he doesn't feel it, he
just rather not try so he doesn't make mistakes. I'm
not sure that's the approach because he has five assists.
But if we like the plus minus, he's minus eighteen
(13:14):
and you can't have that. You are the leader of
this team, even though you do score by committee. I
think that way for Indiana, you are the leader, and
you've been awfully quiet in this game. Awfully quiet.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
You didn't bet this, did you bet? You didn't bet
Haliburton's numbers?
Speaker 3 (13:27):
No, thank goodness, goodness.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
I bet more than ten shots. I'm really struggling now.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Eight shots. That is what I yelled at James Harden
FORO and Gay. At least that was the game seven.
I mean no, not at least at least for Tyren's aliburn.
This is only a game three.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
James Harden doing eight shots in a game seven elimination game.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yeah, last time I do eight shots in a game
like it's usually the Jets and it's a big close
game and I'm doing eight shots in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Come on, it's never a close, guest, we do a
couple of times.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
A year's close on the ice.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yeah, talking about Winnipeg. Yeah, when Hella buck gets pulled
and I'm like, what is he doing? And all the
sudden no, no, no, and I'm watching when made that
name up Winnipeg?
Speaker 4 (14:06):
You can't name three players on the Jets.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Uh, the New York Jets or the Winnipeg je Connor Helli, Book,
Real Clucier and Morris Lukawitch.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Those are not really he just named the three stooges.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Those are Those are all players who played on the Jets.
I love at one point, will I try to go there?
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Garret Wilson, Yes, Sauce Gardner, you're good. Ice spice, I
gotta say I spice and sauce. Guard. You got ice
and sauce. Oh my ice and sauce. I never even
thought about Hey, speaking of ice and sauce. We gotta
orer pizza, right, we do pizza tonight. We're gonna have
special New York Knicks pizza tonight. Go New York, New
York Coat, Go New York co new your.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
H that's it?
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Out about a Fresco Monsieur Monte on Twitter? Right, that's
just you, not Monte Bologos Clippers. No, not Moncey. James
Harden sucks. Not that okay, but.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
Maybe I'll make a maybe that can be my fake account.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Oh your burner account? Yeah, okay, that's good. Yeah, just
picture his beard.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Maybe that's what I'm gonna do. Don't tell people though.

Go New York. See Monsei. I hear these lyrics and
I just hear go New York and with everything everything happens.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I mean that's pretty easy.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
I mean, you everything you said a few minutes ago,
I'm just hearing go New York. Yeah, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
My brain is usually just Olivia Rodrigo. Yeah, just Trader.
I'm just like, you know, wow, Yeah. I love that
song for some reason, always Trader in my head.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Are you okay?
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:11):
All right, Trader.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
I wish I could sing and scream and yell at
the same time, Like what's the paramore.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Girl, Hailey? Yeah, so so good.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Like the being able to like scream, but sing is
something I wish I could do.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
All right.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
I just want to make sure you're okay. It's a Friday.
It's like positivity Friday, Trader. That's the song I'm thinking
about right now, Trader, and you know who you are.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
I totally thought she was calling Olivia Rodrigo a Trader.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Wow. That's a hot sake, right, beef.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
I love her?
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Who doesn't I'm want to put that on Twitter? Does
not Monte hang on at Monte Bolanos just call the
a trader no no though, yeah no, and I added
her Yeah no, it's all good.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I can sing that one too.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
That was a song I know, like the early nineties. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
the Mendosa, Yeah, mint Rosa and Rico Suave and Rico Sure.
I'm playing those songs on the radio in college, playing
Rico swave Nice in college nice when you were probably
like five years old going Rico Swaven. I'm sitting going swavey.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
And then then you're responsible for the baby boom that
I am.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Well, me and Gerardo we were. We were both responsible
for the guy that sings Rico Suave. Coaldo No no,
Gerardo Gerardo was his name, Roaldo Coldo River. Maybe I
don't maybe Herali, but Gerardo be Gerardo who hell yeah
he was uh yeah spoiler Yeah he killed Frogman in Colors.
Yeah that was tough. Yeah yeah, that was tough. Yeah.
(17:56):
Uh do you know if I say colored, do you
know what that is? No move movie Colors Man movie Colors,
Sean Penn, He's a police officer. It's gangs in La
and early nineties Colors. Iced Tea does the song when
Iced Tea first came out. We're like, oh my goodness,
this guy is amazing.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
That's all he did.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
No, no, no, no, I just walked like a giant
police defiant. You'll say to stop, but I'll say that
I can't. Ah. Oh yeah, Colors is I think that
was his first big song was.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Colors nineteen eighty eight, just one colors, Color one looks.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Cold young color. Yeah, well you are young Maria Conchita Alonso.
Oh yeah, yeah. Wasn't Mario Lopez in there? No? No,
he was. He he was in Access Hollywood right after.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
That's what I'm.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Pretty sure he was in it. Him and Screech, they
were both in it. Yeah, Screech was the rookie patrolman.
I don't know, man, what are you doing? All right?
I'm just saying I'm trying to trying to give some
love to save by the Bell crew, because show that
I watched even up to the college year too. I
stopped in the college years.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
I watched it all the way through through the wedding
in Vegas.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
You went through the wedding. I went through the wedding
in Vegas there a yeah. Once they got to college
and I had Bob Golic, I used to work with
once by. I was like, okay, but I'm like it's
just kind of lost its thing, Like it was Bayside
and it was you know, and.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Then Lisa wasn't in it.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Yeah, Screech wasn't in college. At the Vegas wedding, they
were all back. It was like the O G crew,
know the college people. Yeah, no, no, it was a
redhead in college. I can't think of her name, but
the redhead in college. She wasn't in the Las Vegas episode.
I found that weird.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Oh okay, now you know I used to know Dennis
Delson really well. Principle Oh yeah, yeah, Dennis Haskins really well.
I mean he was principal Belding. He came on my
show in ESPN a few times. I had lunching in
a couple of like we've lost touch over the last
few years, but like our birthdays are the same day,
and he was really nice hung and he listened to
the show. He was really good friends. He might still be,
(19:50):
but he was really good friends with Tony Romo. Really
him and Romo we're really good. And one time he
called me from a karaoke bar Dimples, like the big
karaoke bar in the valley here. He called me and said, hey,
I got I got Romo. You wanted to come on
the show? I go, can he be on the show? Like,
I mean, if you're out hanging out like this is
not time to come on the rings? Well, let me see,
(20:10):
let me see. And then I didn't call me back.
Probably a good idea. Probably good idea, not put Romo on.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
The What a great story?
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yeah, oh no, he's mister. I'm sure I have a
really good I have an even better mister Belding story.
But it's an off the air story.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Oh I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
I mean, it would be an on the air story
if but I would have to get his permission to
tell it. I'm sure he'd be okay with it, but
I don't. I don't want to respect. But it's a
really good it's one of my favorite stories ever.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
And while you're telling that one, you can tell the
one where you stalked Mark Paul Gostler.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
At the moment.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Oh yeah, I forgot about I didn't stalk him. Yeah, okay,
so it's fine, no no, no, no, no, so okay, okay, okay, no, okay.
So it was a day where I filled in on
five seventy here in La. I was in Burbank, and
I did the show from like twelve to three, and
then the show here starts at seven. I'm like, am
I gonna drive all the way home and then drive
(21:06):
all the way back? Like, no, I'll just come here.
I'll go to the mall, I'll shop, have dinner, and
then come to work. Right. So I go to the
mall and uh up, you know, not too far for me, dancino,
and I go to the food court and I'm sitting
there and I'm meeting all of some look up and
I go, oh my god, it's Mark Paul Goslar. As
like he was like five tables away from me. So
I go on Twitter, like, I wait till after it's over,
(21:26):
because I don't want to put it out there that
I'm at, like just in case, I don't wan anybody
know where to tell people where he is. So I
wait till he's done, and he leaves, and like, you know,
probably a half hour later, but out, Wow, just had
dinner about six tables over from Mark Paul Goslar And
I said, boy, it was really tough for me to
not go over and say anything to him, and then
he hits me back on Twitter and says, oh, that
was you staring at me the whole time. And I'm
(21:47):
like whoaa people, no, no, no, whoa because he didn't
read it, he didn't see, he didn't know. He was
just like saying, that was you serendat me the whole time.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Like no.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
So then I'm in my timeline people are going, dude,
what were you doing? Like no, I wasn't doing anything.
He's just being funny. It was actually forty five minutes ago.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
That what happened.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
One time I was adding dinner at the ESPN Zone
and I was one table away from Zach Efron, like
he was at the next table.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
When he was really really cute.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Oh no, this is this is this is right after
High School the musical. So this is Zach and this
is before Greatest Showman, after high School the music. He
is like, oh my god. So I'm like, wow, Zach Efrons,
that's pretty cool. So I wait again till he leaves,
and I go, oh, wow, was next to you know,
was right next to Zach Efron having dinner tonight. And
then I said, you know, should have told him. I
(22:36):
had him on my high school basketball fantasy team right,
something like that within a minute, within a minute of
me tweeting that out, within a minute, I'm not lying.
Within a minute, Boom, I get hit up the official
Zach Efron fan Club, the count going, were you at
the game tonight? Are you at the game? Are you
across the street at the game? But I'm like, whoa, wow, Okay, okay,
(22:57):
That's why I waited till he left. Okay, just so
something like this, are you across the street at the game?
Like all right, I'm sure he's going to the Laker game.
I'm sure, so okay, but I am okay, that's you know, okay,
just what? Nah? Then I waited to write back, you know, yeah,
oh sorry, I didn't see this, so like, did deal?
I didn't see your tweet until a while ago, and
I'm like, okay, I'm not gonna I don't know. I
get official account of Zach f Rod had a lot
(23:19):
of followers, like, you know, in the hundreds of thousands
of followers. Whatever it was. I'm like, okay, but I
wasn't gonna say, yeah, he's right next to me at
the ESPN zone.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
What do you want?
Speaker 1 (23:26):
What am I to ask him? Right now?
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Let me get him up.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Let me get up live on Live for me. Yeah, Hey, Troy,
pick up your shirt. I want to just see if
they're real. Just pick up your shirt. Let me see,
let me let see.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Yeah, we're on this together.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
So wow, I didn't think we go down that, but
you know, hey, you mentioned save by the bell. Let's
where we go. So the as we wait Oklahoma City
and Denver just underway, eight and a half to go
in the first quarter, Thunder lead at eight to five months.
Who'll have more on this coming up in a couple
of minutes. This is the last show we'll have before
the NBA Draft Lottery on Monday. Now, let's file this
(23:59):
under the catgory of I'm not saying, I'm just saying
I don't know anything. But okay, if anybody except the Sixers,
the Mavericks, or the Bulls get the first pick in
the draft, I will be the most surprised guy in
(24:20):
the world. Cooper Flag is going to start his career
in either Philadelphia or Dallas or Chicago. Now maybe Chicago,
because now they got a pope who's probably gonna either.
What a perfect time to get the pope, right Bubbles.
Three days before the draft lottery. I mean, I mean,
I'm sure he's gonna be there, blessing the ping pong
balls and everything else. I'm sudging you gotta do something,
(24:43):
But I don't know anything. And I'm not saying there's
there's you know, hey, here's a cold envelope. Here are
some bigger ping pong balls and the others. I'm just saying,
you have a guy coming into the league that could
have a Caitlin Clark like effect on the WNBA. Where
here's the next big score, here's the next big star
coming in that could really just put up put a
(25:04):
former heritage team popular team on the map right away, right,
like we see stars all the time, right, Wenby came
in a couple of years agoing now the Spurs are
back on the map and and everything he can do.
But really, Cooper Flagg coming in a guy we watch
him a bigger deal because we watched him in college.
You know, Wenby was a guy we knew he was
really good. Here's some highlights from overseas. All right, that's great,
(25:25):
But Flag is coming in once what guys like Cooper
Flag and Zion and guys that come in once in
a while, and you think the NBA is looking at
this going man Zion in New Orleans has really just
sucked for us, right like sites It's really it sucked
for him. It sucked for us. He can't stay on
the court. Uh, Cooper Flag where where I'm not saying
I know and I'm not saying it, but boy, Sixers,
(25:49):
Mavericks or the Bulls with a heavy favorite for the
Bulls because now they have got on their side. Heavy
favorite for the Bulls for Cooper Flag on Monday.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Okay, I hear what you're saying. And in all honesty,
he does need to go to a.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
Team like that in order to have the success or
an effect. He can't go I'm sorry, he can't go
to the Hornets, right like you can't go to the
Washington Wizards.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
I hear you.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
But what about you listed three teams?
Speaker 3 (26:16):
What about the Spurs? You don't think Cooper Flag.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
Can Oh you can't get no, no, you come on Wemby
and they get no, Come on, no, no, the Two
Towers al right, I know, no, come on, you can't
do that.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
They do that again.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
You can't do that to the NBA.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
You can't.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Oh we won, Tim duncan we stunk for that. Now
again they went from David won the lotter for David Robinson. Hey,
we won chat they won the lottery for Tim Duncan. Okay,
now they win it again for Wemby. No, they're done.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Putting them two together would be for the NBA. He
goes to Chicago, it's good.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
In theory, is not ready to win with just him.
How many moves to Chicago made over the last couple
of years and they just cannot get They're all terrible,
they're back. So just bringing Cooper flag in theory is
good because of Chicago. They a new pope, obviously Michael
Jordan and all that, but.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
You got a new pope and they had Michael Jordan.
That's Chicago's legacy.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
They have all the goats. They have all the goats.
I get that.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
How do you know that this pope is a goat.
He hasn't done anything yet, but he's I mean, he's
the he's the he's the American pope goat because he's
the only ones.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
So I just feel like, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Rank the popes, ran the Rank the popes one through
two sixty seven.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Go the Francis, Okay, John the second.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
The second. Yeah, everybody likes it.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
He was really really liked it.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Yeah yeah, oh you know he was before your time.
Everybody loves you.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
She had a picture of him for like years and
so I you know, I grew up looking at my
mom's cat.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
I'm not very Catholic, but my mom's right Catholic. Okay,
you know does Rosary every day?
Speaker 1 (27:42):
And wow, okay, so everybody, Pope, John Paul the second
is on everybody's left.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
And then that's as far as I can go.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Well, then you know there's thirteen other leos. Sure, so
you could go one through thirteen there suddenly. Now yeah,
it's like it's like you're doing the NCAA tournament. Okay,
all right, very good, Okay, all right, So without your
Pope rankings and your point on.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Chicago, Chicago in theory, I like, but they would not
be successful. So wouldn't he go to a team Like
if we're believing that the NBA is gonna maybe you.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Know, manipulate a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
The draft to put Cooper Flag in a situation where
the league benefits.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
He has to go to a team that can be
successful immediately.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Lakers.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Yeah, okay, okay, we're being serious here, Frostburg, we're going.
I mean, like, I know, I also thought of like Utah,
like pairing him up with Lori marking in.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
But Utah is not a place I think that he
would end up.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
San Antonio to me keeps coming up as a possible place.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Yeah, I know that if they didn't have Wenby, I
would say, okay to it. You know what, you don't
you know the owners would do if ifs the Spurs
winning again? Come on, no way if they're one years
just two years ago.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
I'm sorry you said that. I was thinking, like a championship.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
Are you talking won the lottery two years ago? Right? Right?
Only win two things? You win the NBA Championship and
you win the lottery. That's two wins in the year.
That's all it is.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
He's only allowed to go to the Spurs.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
If Nis goes to the Lakers, Jannis is maybe. I
don't know Conness goes anywhere. He's going to the Knicks
because because honestly, the Knicks are the only team that
can trade for him. They're the only team that has
the assets to get They can give you a couple
of good players. He can do it to trade form well,
I mean Yeah, here's a thousand first round picks. Yeah, okay,
I theory they could do that Isaiah Hartenstein and seven
(29:28):
first rounders. Yeah, a lot of work. But I'm telling
you that Chicago's the favorite Philadelphia, Dallas.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
But the only reason, I mean, I don't want it
to be Philly.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Just because I have a you know, bad taste in
my mouth Philly because of Paul George.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
But Philly would be better with.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Him, right, Like, they would be immediately successful with him.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
I don't want to see Nico Harrison at the lottery
middle fingering it to everybody. Yeah, yeah, this.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Was the plan Dallas. He would be immediately successful. But Chicago,
it's just I like it in theory, but he would
not be immediately successful.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Yeah, it doesn't matter. It would be he would be relevant,
and it would flip the script and Chicago would be back.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Chicago would be in the playoffe on the next year.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Yeah, okay, have a play again, same day. We need
to figure out Monday through Friday. During that we got
to put good teams in it, right, we had, We
had the Warriors in it. This year worked out fine.
The Eastern Conference has no juice in the playing round.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
No they don't, No, they don't.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Uh. Time now to find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports is monts. He continues to rank
her popes, what's happened in the NBA, and further with
what's trending?
Speaker 2 (30:34):
All right, Well, the Cavaliers did not go down three
as expected from the jump. They did defeat the Piecers
one twenty six to one oh four. Donovan Mitchell forty
three points. He had such a good game. His acrobatic
style was up and down the floor.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
At halftime.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
We were talking about Tyreus Halliburn at halftime, Jason, he
had two points at.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Halftime, and he ends with four points.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
He took six in the first half, and he ends
with eight shots in the second half. So it's like
you did nothing in the second half. Tartis haliburtn But
the Cavs win it. So Indiana still leads this series
two to one. Okay, see and Denver going at it.
I don't know if you guys saw that Nicola Yoka
showed up in the Joker outfit, not with the makeup,
but like the outfit was a Joker outfit.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
And the thunder are up right now.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Seventeen sixteen with about five minutes to go in the
first quarter. Jalen Williams, Nicola Jokic both have five points.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
We'll check in.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
The NHL how things are going Maple Leaves and Panthers.
Is it officially over? They were in overtime tied at
four a piece. Are we going on another overtime?
Speaker 3 (31:38):
No, it's over.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
It's over, Johnny, it's over over. Brad Marshan, it is
Brad Marsham. Literally, you didn't bet that game.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
I did not bet that. It is over.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
We've got the Stars and the Jets. The Jets are
up to zero after the first period. In baseball, it's
the twelfth inning between the Red Sox and the Royals.
They're tied at one apiece. The Padres are all over
the Rockies twelve to two. Bottom of the sixth inning.
The Orioles, who are struggling this season, are beating the
Angels three zero. Bottom of the fourth inning. The Dodgers
and the Diamondbacks were tied not anymore. LA is up
(32:10):
eight to three bottom of the third inning. About to
start in Arizona, the Blue Jays have a five to
one lead over the Mariners after three innings, and the
Yankees have scored first against the A's.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
They're up to zero top of the third inning.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
The Pirates, who just fired their manager, also snapped their
seven game losing streak today after beating the Braves three
to two. The Tigers have won five in a row.
They edge the Rangers two to one, and pitcher Trek
scooble seven innings, pitch, two hits, one air, and twelve strikeouts.
The Cardinals have won six in a row. They shout
out the Nationals ten zero. The Rays defeated the Brewers
four to three, the Guardians blank the Phillies six to zero,
(32:44):
and the White Sox outscored the Marlin six to two,
snapping their four game losing streak, while the Twins snap
their five game losing streak with the three to one
win over the Giants.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
It's a busy night, Jason.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
It's busy, especially when you gamble or don't gamble and
all that stuff. Yeah, it works out.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
No, this is bad.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Anyone who gambled in this Cavalier Spacers game probably did
not do.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Exit out vouta fresca at Monty Bologos Jason Smith, Monsey
and from Mike Harmon tonight coming Up next, we got
the Play of the day and a big time mistake
that one huge network made. I can't believe it happened,
but it did. That's next.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Fox.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Go New York, Oh, New York, Go New York, Go
New York O. Every song, every song. That's what it's got.
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon. Monseis in from
Mike tonight. A mistake that I can't believe millions and
millions of people got to see first. But how about
the play of the day. For over forty years, tire
(33:54):
rack'sm been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, Shipped fast and free, backed
by free road of protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation. Tire rec dot Com is the way
tire buying should be. Well, when you're in overtime and
you score the game winning goal and it's tonight where
the Knicks aren't playing in their off so it's not
the Knicks, well, you get to be the play of
(34:15):
the day.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
Up top Harsham shot over.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Time TNT on the call. The Panthers win their first
game of the series. They always anytime they need a
goal with late in the third period overtime, I feel
like the Panthers just always get it. It's so frustrating,
it's so incredibly frustrated. But the knicks are up to zip.
So it turns out it's okay, so we're good.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Everything else is, everything's fine, nothing to worry about.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
So this I can't believe. This got on the air
at MLB Network last night and it's getting everywhere today.
They were doing a feature on Ellie de la Cruz
and his brother, and Elie Delacruz look his twin brother.
What one of the best players in Major League Baseball.
And it's just they're doing a story on him and
they show a picture, a double picture of him with
his brother when they were younger and a recent one
(35:16):
and it's one picture that did a cake and fry.
I think it's I think it was from when Ellie
de la Cruz signed with the Reds. I think that's
when it was. So it's him and his brother when
he signed to the Reds. There and now a more
current picture and Ellie de la Cruz is is you know,
he's he's got the w up there and his brother
has his middle finger up in the picture. It's he's
(35:36):
flipping off the camera and somehow that made it on
the air. Nobody saw that and it made it on
the air. We got that picture of dela Criuz yep,
his brother. Yeah, I mean you can't miss it. You
can't miss it. You can't miss what's going on. And
he and he's got his middle finger up and yep,
we're gonna put it on the air.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
It's kind of incredible because you know, this was a
package this, like you said, this was a story on
Ellie de Lacruz and his twin brother who happens to
be much shorter than him. Twin brother much shorter than him.
It's quite funny.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
Looks nothing like him.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
No, they actually kind of like the hair is different,
but they do have a very similar face if I
zoomed in. But they don't look alike because the height
difference is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
It's like me standing next to you from.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Salam, literally like that's what it looks like. Okay, are
you know exact?
Speaker 1 (36:21):
He literally is twice as tall as.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
You yes, and that's what this mixture looks like.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
And Ellie de la Cruz is doing like something with
his hands, right, not flipping the camera off, not flipping
the bird, and.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
His brother is so I wonder if they just like
kind of.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Like glanced at it and they're like, oh yeah, they're
both doing something with their hands.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
But you know, more than one person approved it.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
This is the whole package, This is this is where
this is. And the thing is this tells me that, well,
maybe you know, a lot of networks have had cutbacks
because normally this is something that the person put the
person who pulled the video, that's who got the video
got to see it. The producer who was putting the
package together saw it. The editor who was putting the
package together saw it. Whoever watched it before it went
(37:02):
on the air got to see it. An entire control
room of probably fifteen people see all as okay, that's great,
and then oh whoa whoa whoa dump bat dumbat and
somehow it made the air somehow. Him and I get
that if one person doesn't see it because he's got
the middle finger up in front of his chest, it's
not like he's got it up in the air going yes, yes,
(37:23):
that's very cash. No, not like me as a Knicks fan,
going yeah, he's got it, like over so I could
see where one person looking at it quick is not
going to see it, right, okay, great, Like here's here's
the only I think he's doing the west side, right,
that's what.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
He's doing exactly.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Okay, yeah, they're doing the west side? Would and I
miss it? But like one person, but how many people
miss this? And then it gets on the air and it.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
Gets approved greenlit?
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Go ahead, put this package out there to showcase this
exciting player that we haven't.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
Baseball guys ready for the best part of it? Oh yeah,
what do you got?
Speaker 5 (37:55):
Not only did it make the air MLB network the
game up and showed it nationally.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah, so that was on every TV. Hey, that's a
great Daila cruise feature. Let's put that on there. You
with the middle finger, Yeah, go ahead, let's run it.
Speaker 5 (38:12):
Because I know how that station takes a game from
a local market.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
That's what happened with that package.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Just like okay, so the first person to receive these
pictures the first one, because you know that they probably
sent them more than one picture.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Like here's a couple of the.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Pictures that you could use of our of our sons
or me and my brother. Here's some pictures. The first
person like to select those. It's like, did you do
this on purpose? Because how did you miss it? Somebody
picked those pictures?
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Oh no, how about if you're you're Elle de la
Cruz or Ellie de la Cruzz family. You said, yeah, give,
we're gonna give you the one of my yo of
Ellie's twin flipping off the camera. There you go, see
if you can use that.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Maybe it was a trick. See if anyone catches us.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Let's I'll bet you one hundred dollars. Nobody use that.
They'll use both of these and nobody catches.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
Oh you're on, you're on.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
You're on. Like Ellie and his brother had a bet
on that, I bet you the middle finger picture. It's
not gonna make it. This is not work. They don't
put anything on the air.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Oh no, no, no, you know it was in Spanish.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
The conversation was in Spanish.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Oh yeah, yea. So they put it on when they
picked up the local game. It wasn't on the network broadcast.
It was the local game they picked up to air national.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
Channel.
Speaker 5 (39:18):
Oh my goodness, So every person who was watching MLB
network saw that. Wow, this is and this is where
when you're the anchor in the studio, you're the first
person they showing. Like if it was just the Reds
