Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, welcome inside, Happy Friday. I mean, we'll see you
about that The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
For over forty years, Tirerack's been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped
fast and free back by free Road, has a protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tiraq dot
com is the way tire buying should be. Well. Here
we are, early in the fourth quarter, Game two of
the Eastern Conference Finals. Pacers lead Nicks eighty three eighty one.

(01:01):
So far. It is the Pascal Siakam game. Apparently every
game this series, a Pacer is gonna have the game
of his absolute life and what he's never done before.
And this is a Sakam game. I'll tell you, I
just want the game to be over. I can't even
enjoy the game. I realized, Yeah, you've been pretty I
can't enjoy I just want it to be over.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I'm like, is your blood sugar low? Have you just
abandoned all hope? I mean, I know you were pissed
because you didn't get the second screen experience with the
long rain delay of Dodgers mets to distract you from it.
It's also a game not widely available to the fun
and exciting world of.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Apple Now on your Friday nights.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
But but watching Pascal Siakam get off in in the
first half like he was the quiet guy last time, Like, hey,
you're standing in the back. You need to give us
something this game. You were just a passageer last time,
So let's go.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I mean, I really, I just want the game to
be over and I want to know the result like this,
this is what Game one did to me. Man, I
can't even enjoy it. I can't enjoy it because I
just keep watching. I keep it. I think how much
I can't stand TJ McConnell, And how did anybody that
makes a shot for the pacer Well, mcconnald's that guy.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Mcconnald's that guy that if you're in a pickup game,
he's going one hundred and twenty miles an hour.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah right, the guy that played on a little bit. Yeah, yeah, heah,
he's that guy.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
So he's in your face constantly and extra energy guy.
It's like, dude, it's my.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Damn lunch break.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I gotta go back, you know, to the factory or
whatever I'm doing. Just just tone it down. I came
to get a couple of shots up, have a laugh.
So that's that guy. Uh, no question about it. We've
got a tie ball game with eleven minutes remaining. But yeah,
when they got out to the early start as they did,
because Indiana gets out to that ten pointy lead early

(02:42):
in the first I'm like, oh boy, here we go.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
And then I came in.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Unfortunately, you were doing a little retail therapy so that
kind of helped the process.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, yeh yeah yeah yeah, hieth Like I'm gonna go
buy some shorts, gonna buy these Syracuse short could buy
some met shorts going on eBay? What do you think, harmon?
What should I bet on this one? Yeah? I needed
something I really. I mean it's it's in this is
you buy the whole player's trunk?

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:04):
No, Hey do I get the trunk? If I get
it all? What if I buy the whole trunk? Do
I get any money off? Do I get anything? But
like this, I mean it because that's you know that,
And I think a lot of fans understand this, where
it's just something happens in the game, and it's like,
you know, I can't enjoy it until it's over and
I know what happens, like I want, like sometimes when
you want to just hit the fast forward button to

(03:26):
the end of the game as your team is blowing
a big lead, or it's just I'm not enjoying. I
just need the relief of the win and then I
can reset. Right then I can get back to the enjoyment.
But I can't enjoy. I can't enjoy the Pacers with
a three point lead right now, with ten and a
half left to go, I can't. Well, it's that.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Movie that would They had a bunch of people tell
you it was gonna be great, and then you get
about a halfway into it and you look how much
times left hour and ten minutes?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Yeah, all right, can.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
We fast forward to the final five minutes go ahead
of the credit.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
So what I need to put about twelve minutes left
or so? Like when we watched Oppenheimer and the bomb
went off, and my wife turns me and says, there
is an hour and fifteen minutes left in this movie,
and I said, really loud.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
No way.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
People around me turn around. I said, sorry, no way,
no way, there's an hour, yeah, hour in fac I'm like,
you've got to be kidding me. There's an hour and
fifteen minutes left in this movie. You are nutsous. Yeah,
Because she goes and looks at the time the runtime,
mexcuse you got an hour and fifteen minutes. I'm like,
oh my god, that's ter Oh like, okay, all right,
And it was really long. It was really long. But

(04:25):
I've already accepted we're gonna lose this game. I've already accepted.
I already gave up on this. Still, Yeah, I gave
up on it on I said, this is it. How
are we gonna come back from this? Right? Because and
because here's the thing is that you know to come
back mentally, there's all you know, we talked about that
the last two days. I'm sure you're died of hearing
me talk about mentally. But the thing about about the
Knicks and playing at Madison Square Garden is MSG is

(04:47):
not the home court advantage that you think it is. Right,
you hear greatest arena in the world, and it is.
The lights are great, the celebrities, but it's not like
Oklahoma City where you go in there and the pressure
of the fan is insane. You don't go into Oklahoma
City thinking I'm on the brightest lights. I'm looking forward
to this. I'm looking forward to this challenge, right, not

(05:09):
like you do in New York, not that you know,
you're shrinking Violet, going oh, I'm scared to go play.
But there's something different saying, hey, we got a tough game.
We got to button our chin straps. Go into Oklahoma City,
teams come into Madison Square Garden, the pace camp, it's
like this is like home for us. Like some teams,
this is like because we're excited to be playing. There's
no intimidation. It's just the excitement of playing an MSG.
But it's like, yeah, I want to shut the crowd.

(05:31):
There is there's so little home court advantage for the Knicks,
even though it's such a pro Knicks crowd. It's so
there's none, there's absolutely nothing. May watch team comes in
and the Pacers they're playing really comfortable. It doesn't matter
where the game is. Hey we're playing. We're good. We're
not getting all a bunch of fouls called against us.
Hey we're happy where we're at right now, up six
with ten minutes left.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
No, but that's just it. You come into an arena
and you look around. Maybe you don't like Ben Stiller's movies,
so that gets you a little fired up. Maybe you
see Bill Murray hanging out.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Five huh, give me night at the museum? Five about that?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Can you bring back Freddie Mercury in that one? Huh huh?

Speaker 1 (06:07):
And then and then you go down the line thinking
that he was in that. I'm trying to all the stars.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, I mean you go down the line, Hey, Larry David,
how about not you know, nine years between the next
season of Curve? But you know all of those you know,
and you find the motivation there. But no, you're just
jacked up to be there, right. It's the legacy, the
history of that joint and all the big moments between
the concerts and sporting events that have taken place there

(06:31):
that you get into it and you're excited to be there.
And maybe it's also the audition James Doan, you're gonna have,
you know, some cap space.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
I could be that guy. Hey, hey, I'm telling you that. Look. Look,
I went from the beginning of this series. Okay, the
beginning of this series sake Jannis wants to come here,
right because that was that whole big He's answering all
the questions. His favorite place to play on the road
is New York, you know, And obviously he has directed
the you know, his team to look into potential fits
outside out of Milwauk and obviously waiting till the season ends.

(07:02):
But now New York jumps the top. Before the season,
before the series, I'm like, yeah, no, no, what come on,
we can't. We can't trade mcl bridges. And not before
it was gonna yeah whatever we need Yannis, we're gonna
get Yanni's great. We can't do that. We can't mess
up this cord. We're finally peaking now here. I am.
Beginning of the fourth quarter a Game two, I'm like,
everybody can go except for Brunson.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Everybody the trade simulators, salary match thing.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Right now, everyone can go. If we got Brunson and Yannis,
let's go. We can do it. We can trade towns,
we can trade bridges.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
You gave away a hot dog guy and in a
halal cart as throw ins there, I mean off of
the streets of New York.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
We can absolutely do that. I am incredibly happy to
do it. We're we are good. We are good man.
We can get Yannison. I'm good right now. I'm playing
next year. Already we're in the Eastern Conference Final saying no, no, guy,
that we're done. Let's move the next year. We got Yannis.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Pre game one it was we're sweeping on, We're taking
it down. We got something for you after game one. Hey,
do you think there's too much orange in this short?
That stripe a little too thick? Is this too bright
an orange?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Come on? You know, retail therapy is real and it's fun, man,
And that's that's my thing. When I get when I
get upset with things, I'm like, Okay, I gotta get
myself in a good frame of mind. I gotta get positive. Here.
We got a big four hour show where either I'm
either excited or I'm just saying okay, let's get ready,
let's preview thunder Pacers. Right, so one of those two
things is happening to we have to Yeah, well, well

(08:25):
when the game bro well, well, I mean, I know
it's gonna be in Minnesota, you know.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
I mean, unless we're gonna start going through and naming
the ten thousand plus lakes or heroes of stage and
scream that hail from Minnesota. Maybe we go in and
we start yelling row the boat repeatedly. I don't know
what we're gonna do, cause at two games that that
series is not competitive.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Lake or not a lake? Lake or not. Let's play
a game here, Lake or not a lake, Lake Minnetonka. Yes,
that's a lake, but that is not Lake Minnetonka. Correct,
that's a matching up the shape of a lake. Nop, Nope,
that one's a little too wide, a little too wide.
It doesn't have that little boot at the end of it. Uh. Look,
so that's where we're at right now. It is a
nine point Pacers lead, ninety four eighty five with less

(09:14):
than ten minutes left to go. I said, the Nick's
gonna lose by twenty. That's like what looks like what's
gonna happen, though it looks like what's gonna happen the pace,
I mean, you'd be right. I mean, look, it's the
Pascal Siakam. I mean the last game, it was Nie
Smith having a game he'll never have again in his life.
And now it's Siakam tonight with thirty five, he's fourteen
out of nineteen from the floor. Not a great night

(09:35):
for Halliburton, not a great night for anybody else. But no, no,
Siakam's still wide open. It's his night, and it's a
nine point lead for the Pacers right now with nine
minutes left to go. I mean I got okay, NBA, congratulations,
you got the Pacers and the Thunder because you gave
Jalen Brunson that fifth foul. You didn't get the goaltending
call that should have happened, you didn't get the double
dribble call on Halliburton. Congratulations, you get Pacers and the Thunder.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Go get it.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Here's your two minute report. It is actually signed and
not auto pen by from the desk of Adam Silver.
Eleven to two run over the last two minutes. Siakam
just an insane playing out of his mind. Now he
was their leading scorer during the year, so not a
shock that he leads them in scoring, but the way

(10:21):
he's done it early in the game, absolute domination in
the low post, and now you're starting to extend it
back to the three point arc where he's standing by
himself again no closeouts from the Knicks, Biggs.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
I mean, it's it's a game where I've I've been
the last couple of days. I have just accepted that
this is going to be the result. Right, So I
saw like, Okay, how do I mentally come back from game?
Because I'm still not back, No, not back in New York,
great Bob, No, not great Bob. How do I how
do I come back from that? Okay? I accept that

(10:55):
likely the worst scenario is going to happen, right, and
they're going to lose this game, and the Pacers are
gonna go home smiling and the choke sign and all
that time, I'm like, Okay, if I accept it, at
least when the bad news comes, it doesn't surprise me.
So all right, So there is something to be said
for that.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
When I go into a doctor yeah, feeling well, yeah,
I've expected the worst.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
What do I got? What what do you got?

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Well?

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Uh, you. Uh, okay, why don't we get you some
antibiotics and I think you'll be okay, all right, great,
all right, that's perfect. How about you take a walk
onow Okay, I'm expecting the worst. And when it happened, okay, okay, great,
And and I guess I guess that'll be my revenge
on the MBA.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Go.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yeah, this is what you wanted. You got it. You
wanted Pacers and thun diego. Congratulations. Good luck with the
ratings on that one. Good luck. Yeah, there we go.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I hope you like Halliburton the chokes on.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
People are gonna yeah, people are gonna watch it. Yeah, okay,
that's where I'm at. The great serve you right for
not fixing the game and officiating it so the Knicks
can get into the finals. It hurts you, right, NBA.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
It'll be the greatest hate watching experience four hours a
night here on Fox Sports and radio.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
I don't know. Well, well, here's the thing. Hey, I
think if the NBA got Pacers Thunder, they'd be happy
if it was a hate watching experience, Like at least
it's a watching experience.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Well, I mean, I got you saw the ratings for
Game one, of thunder t Walves. Right, you said what
I can't imagine. Yesterday was not great, Bob. I mean, look,
I don't know it's better me or the ratings of
game one. Oh that's a toss up right there. You
need the knicks.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
But okay, serves you right for missing all those calls
and not putting the pacers in foul trouble. More right,
you went too far.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
You had the calls, and I think most rational people
would go, wow, that one really shouldn't have gone there
against them. The goaltend call that leads to the ensuing
possession was a three point shot and a make because
there's no out of bounds and no stopage of play.
Play on uh the double dribble. Could you have argued
it was a fall? Maybe, but either way it should

(12:52):
have been reviewed but wasn't, and instead you get the
choke sign and overtime where you guys conveniently did not
show what.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah, I mean, I look, there's so many things I
can say, and I've been very content that it's weird.
I've been very content the last couple of days to
just be mad. No, I guess I just want to
be mad. That's just you. You said, let me be mad,
this let me in. You just gotta let me let
me no.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
No, but you get that is a very healthy thing
to do, right, And tell my daughters all the time
you got to you let it out, but then you
gotta let it go. I I can't tell you to
do that yet because this series still extends, right, that
pain is going to be there latent for at least
another couple of days, and then once it's done, you'll
eat pie and you'll be fine.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Yeah, Pie, Well look I will say this pie and
pizza tonight would be better. Yeah. I think it's a
good idea, m Pie. Like, I'm always a big fan
that if you're gonna get let go. If you're gonna
get fired from from your job or something, they should
give you cake on your lefe. No, they shouldn't because
you're still gonna get fired. Everybody's still gonna know you're fired,

(13:58):
but you'll have cake. I mean, you could either get
fired and have cake or get fired and not have cake.
I'd rather get fired.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Now.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Generally, you're smear smear it on my bosses outside of
his window when I leave.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
That's cake, right, spear it right out there. But find
this car in the parking lots, smear it right on there. Now,
generally you're let go early enough in the day to
where now you're at at least that happy hour, so
you save some money on the consolation beers.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Or maybe celebration.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Maybe you're ready to be done with the place, and
they fix the glitch for you. Yeah, and then they
got cake, and you got cake.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
And I'll smear it all over your car. I don't
take it. I don't stick it into the tailpipe. Forget
about banana tailpipe. You're gonna have. You're gonna have all
sorts of confection in the tailpipe. That's what it is.
What is that confetti and glitter?

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Sorry, hey, so uh Joe's auto? I I I something
wrong with my car? Yeah, you got you got too
much butter cream and your tailpipe? Whoa, what does that mean? No?
I mean you got butter cream in your tailpipe. That's
what it is. We we got a score that out
a little bit there.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Take a Friday night euphemism that could go in any
different direction.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
You got you got butter cream in your tail pipe?
Oh all right, okay, all right, that's that's what it is.
So that's where we sit right now, five point Pacer lead,
seven forty to go in the fourth quarter. Nix and
the Pacers will have more on this game coming up next.
But straight ahead, boy, do we got some big NFL

(15:27):

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. Yes, sir, you can stream this show
in all of our Fox Sports Radio shows live twenty
four to seven in the new iHeartRadio app. Just search
Fox Sports Radio in the app to stream us live.
One of the newest features in the app, you can
select Fox Sports Radio is one of your presets, just
like the presets on a radio dial, So be sure

(16:58):
to preset Fox Sports Radio in the iHeartRadio app. It'll
always pop up at the top of your screen, so
lock it in and rip the knob off. Four h
six to go in the fourth quarter, the Pacers lead
the Knicks one to three ninety nine. And I'm telling you,
when I see the end of this series, when I
say certain memories are gonna come, I'm just gonna think

(17:19):
of all the threes. Whenever the Pacers need a three,
they get it. Whenever they need a three, they find
a way they cycle the ball around. They don't miss,
they always I mean, it's just whenever they needed three.
It's like they made a deal with the devil. Oh,
we're getting it right here. To be fair, your defense
does not close out for anything. No, they don't know.
And that's the thing. Yeah, this Knicks defense that was
so active against the Celtics really has not been there.

(17:42):
And you can see now that that how bad we
know the NBA being all about matchups in the playoffs. Man,
Pacers are a bad matchup for the Knicks, right. The
Knicks were a bad matchup for the Celtics in the
previous round, especially once Tatum got hurt, but leading up
to it, the physicality that the the Celtics couldn't match
up with. But man, I'll tell you what, the Pacers

(18:03):
seem to have an answer for everything the Knicks want
to do. It's a seven point lead for the Pacers
right now with about three and a half left to go.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Halliburton just hits a three to extend it. Bad possession
coming back the other way. But something we talked about
a lot, and I'd probably asked it of Rick Buker
three or four different times over the course of the
season whether the Celtics had enough depth when it was
all said, dude, Tatum gets hurt and you know, to
a degree, rendered moot, but you couldn't possibly come up

(18:31):
with the requisite contributions from your bench. And now you
get into this series with Indiana, all they want to
do is run you, right, because they know you're only
going seven or eight deep. So you know, they come
at you in waves. And you see tonight the type
of game Siakam had and trying to keep pace, forcing
bad shots to keep pace, and then tired legs means

(18:54):
Miles Turner gets to measure up a three pointer from
the corner for four seconds.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Yeah, with nobody closing out. I mean that's where you're at.
I mean yeah, it's it's like I said, I saw
it coming after game one and Rick Buker came on
you guys, try to say no, but game touch. It's
come on, man, how do you come back from this?
The Pacers have all kinds of confidence. Oh, the Knicks
are gonna come in mad in game two. No, the
Pacers are gonna come out in game two saying we're
taking this, We're taking two to zero back to Indiana

(19:21):
and Pascal Siakam suddenly looks like Kevin Durant on his
best day. That's the tip, that's the kind of day
he's having. As it's a nine point lead now for
the Pacers with just over three minutes left to go.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
He scored twenty point two per game during the regular season.
He's fourteen of nineteen, including three point three to five
from three point range, for thirty seven thirty seven in
a row. Uh So, we'll have more on this game
coming up in a bit.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Uh Now, the Pacers are actually pulling a little bit
of a Hacker Robinson move. They commit a foul on
Mitchell Robinson, the worst free throw shooter in the history
of the game. Uh So they put him at the
free throw line and he bricks up the first one.
So now clearly this is the Pacers strategy. They're gonna
do Hacker Robinson to try to close this game out
without giving the Knicks a chance to hit some threes

(20:08):
and get back in it again. It just as soon
as they hit that shot to go up nine, Halliburton
just grabs Robinson around the around the waist. They have
to call a foul. He makes one out of two,
so at least he made one. But still you're not
gonna You're not gonna win scoring one and the other
team scoring too. I'm just saying the math doesn't work. No,

(20:29):
it is fuzzy math, there's no question about it. But
all right, buddy, that's all right. Like I said, I
accepted this. I will have more in the game coming
up in a few minutes. Steve de Saga will have
more with what's trending. But look, a big story out
of the NFL today, and it just gets weirder and weirder.
The Bill Belichick Jordan Hudson drama that every day has
a new TMZ angle to it. And the last couple

(20:52):
of days has been really weird because it's been Pablo Tory,
who you seehim all the time on a round, I mean,
well not anymore, but you see Pablo Tory, who's has
this big investigation going on into the relationship of Belichick
and Hudson, and he came up with the Obviously, we
first were made aware of this potential relationship because of

(21:12):
the door bell cam, the ring cam when Belichick had
no shirt on at the Airbnb that he and Jordan
Hudson stayed at a bunch of months ago and he's
shirtless walking out and it's like, that's Bill Belichick. What's
he doing? You find out, Oh, he's dating a twenty
four year old twenty three year old woman, and it's like, okay,
that's what we started off. But like he's looking into
it and he's investigating, and all the things we've gotten

(21:34):
the last twenty four hours have been Oh, we found
out that the Airbnb owners were really weirded out. They
thought he was some kind of drug dealer. Why is
a guy in his seventies there that is it a woman?
And or dealer? Who do we rent to? Then they
realized it was Belichick and they sent him the video
out to a friend of theirs to say, hey, can
you tell us who this is? And that's how the

(21:55):
video gets out. Great move, Airbnb, nice job. You could
have made a lot of money off of that. Instead
we're gonna send it to our friends and it winds
up on the internet and that the pommelotory is looking
into this, and I just like this whole thing is
getting just unseemly now, Like I'm like, are these details
we really want?

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Like?

Speaker 1 (22:12):
What what is happening with this investigation? I get that
it's a fascinating story and there seems to be new
things every single day, but I don't know, do I
need the investigation into this. Like there's also a bit
today where the Airbnb owners said this according to Pablotory's investigation,
that they asked her like like they were there, they
asked what kind of golf club she likes. She goes,

(22:33):
I like a senior shaft or something like that, and
they thought it was a weird way that she was
describing the golf club she likes to use. And I'm like,
we really need this, Like this is like I feel
like this is something that you know, I can I
can get on the on the dark recesses of Twitter
if I wanted. But this is this is where this
story is at right now.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Well, this is the uh, the un fet fettered uh
love that that they've had with Rond.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
This is what you begat. It's just this. This is
like I know what I've read the Airbnb and this whatever. Yeah,
the relate the relationship is creepy. Anyway, now that this
part of it is creepy, and the investigations, you know,
they're together, Okay, we know this, Like what what what
do you think is going on in the relationship. You
think you're going off for milkshakes every day, Well, but
I hang out.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
I was blissfully unaware of this angle of it, this
next extension, until we started chatting about today's show. I'm like,
all right, I'll go begrudgingly, I'm gonna go read this article.
I was like, this, this is where your career is,
this is this is what you decided to do that
we needed this detail.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Who cares? Right?

Speaker 3 (23:41):
I say this whole the whole throatedly. It's kind of
a shrug the shoulders.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
The origin story is my whole thing the whole time
is as long as he knows what he's doing and
he's happy, who the hell cares? His family may be
mad that she's in the picture. I'm not buddies with Steve.
I'm not I'm not leaching off or whatever. It's gonna
get handed down in a will, so I don't care.
Like this detail that you go when you stay at

(24:08):
the Airbnb and find the owner so you can start
asking questions like I wish they could sue them for
giving out their personal information.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
I mean, yeah, you sent out the ring like, look,
you know what I mean, like, I get it.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
You thought it was not just well, no, they realized
it was Belichick and they let it get out and
his the summary statement from him was like they're mad
that they didn't profit off and like, no.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
No, you look like a clown, you know. But but look,
part of me realized, like, this is how stories like
this are now, right, how do we profit how do
we not make money? How do we do this? That
that this the the creepy details of this, This is
just how these stories go. And the big thing obviously
there there's two different there's two different angles to this.

(24:50):
There's the angle of their relationship, which we've talked about
to death. But the big angle that's gonna start playing
itself out is how long is North Carolina gonna be
okay with this being a story because it's not going anywhere.
Because Jordan Hudson, Lady Macbeth, she wants the fast lane,
she wants life in the fast lane. Dude, do doy doody,
do you do do do doo? She wants life in

(25:11):
the fast life and the fat dooty do you do
do do do do doo? She wants the fast lane?
And Belichick is like, okay, I don't mind the fast lane.
I don't mind looking ridiculous and interviews for books and
wearing t shirts that are older than you to an
interview that's gonna get us embarrassed, like they want the
You see all these stories about Hard Knocks and how
she wanted control over it, and how she tried to
talk Away into a into a role on Hard Knocks,

(25:33):
and how she talked Away into the Super Bowl commercial,
Like how long is North Carolina gonna be okay with this?
And if you said to me, okay, how is this
story gonna end? I mean, I know we had Pete
Futech on last night and he said, listen, look at
North Carolina schedule. Boy, we might be talking more about
football than anything else. North Carolina and Belichick better hope

(25:54):
so because if this doesn't have a season where he
returns North Carolina to some kind of glory, because not
like North Carolina had big glory. You know, you go
back when you know they had Chris Keldorf and Oscar Davenport,
you know, back in the nineties, and they're that dueling quarterbacks.
So you know, part of it is is you know
you want you want them, all right, We're gonna get
back to level. But if not, like it's gonna be

(26:15):
one and done. Like it's one and done for Belichick
because North Carolina is not gonna go through another year
where the TMZ side show is something that they're going
to be okay with, So they're not gonna fire them now.
And all this. I know there's been a push saying
one of the odds he never coaches a game now
is too soon? Right, you're getting ready for the season.

(26:35):
It would look really embarrassing if you did not make
it to the season with him, And how do you
have some kind of year where it's all sorts of drama?
Because now if you fire Belichick, who takes over what's
recruiting gonna be like who's gonna de commit? It gets
really bad. You need some time to be able to

(26:55):
deal with what's going on and deal with with the
situation and say, okay, now we got to move on
from this. Right, there's gonna be a point where they go,
you know what, this is not worth it. If they're
three and six and more of this is happening, then
guess what they're gonna say, We're done, We're finished. We
can't we can't do well, that's just it.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
I mean, right now they're counting the money, right, plenty
of cash rolling in. They they've jacked up ticket prices
and sold out their season ticket allotment. You've got donors
on board. Everybody's fired up for what Bill Belichick brings.
And to Pede feed TAC's point, Yeah, if you win,
now everybody's on board.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
This is a side show.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
And it remains such because on the field you're taking
care of business and in theory the machine starts to
roll that you then have recruits, you get into the
transfer portal, you get all of that stuff, and you're building.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
A program off it. But you struggle year one.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Then sure, perhaps everybody's looking around now, knowing college athletics,
they're still going to be looking at the pile of
cash they made and more cash to be had, so
they still continue to look the other way.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
You got to just figure out who the two or
three biggest.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Benefactors in the room are, and you know, hold up,
you know the old lick your finger and see which
win the way the wind's blowing there in terms of
how happy or sad they are. But all of that
to say, six hundred appearances plus on the journalism show,
and this is what it begat.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Yeah. I mean, look, I mean it's gonna be a
case of how long until it's not worth it? And
if they're not winning, they're not gonna go forward. Yeah,
it's great. They've sold a lot of tickets now, which
is awesome, and and they're gonna keep They're gonna keep that,
try to keep that momentum going into the season. But
really in the end, like unless it's gonna be a huge,

(28:42):
uh you know, some sort of huge victory season a
nine and three, So it's that's gonna be it. Like
they're they're gonna say, Okay, we tried the Belichick thing.
It didn't work. The buyouts not gonna be that great.
After a year, we're done and he's done coaching, right, honestly.
That that's the thing, and that's that's the thing that
Belichick has to really understand it. This whole thing is

(29:02):
that if you if this is how you're gonna live,
you have to understand that you need to be representing
North Carolina in the best way possible. And that's not
been the case. There's already been reports that they're upset
with how things have gone and how they're going forward.
So quite honestly, I mean, he's okay risking all of this,
But that's how it's gonna end. If I had to

(29:23):
tell you how it's gonna go, it'll be a one
and done for Belichick at North Carolina one and done,
one and done, one and done for Belichick. Meanwhile, looks
like it's gonna be a foe and done for the Knicks.
The Pacers with the lead over New York with four
seconds left to go. It is one thirteen to one
oh nine. It looked like the Knicks are gonna be

(29:44):
able to get a last possession to cut this PACER's
lead and maybe take the lead. However, Jalen Brunson has
called for the foul. Grabbed Halliburton's jersey and they called
the foul. Or grabbed Nie Smith's jersey, they called the foul.
He goes to the free throw line, he hits both
free throws. The Knicks are going to lose this game
and the Pacers are going home up to zip It's
one fourteen, one oh nine with four seconds to go

(30:06):
in the fourth quarter. For more on miss and the
rest of the night in sports, find out what's trending
from a special delivery Steve Disager.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
And the most points ever scored by a visiting player
in a conference final game at Madison Square Garden.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Oh Oh, Jason Smith, Fox Sports Radio, Yes, Jascalciakam thirty nine.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
He has tied Reggie Millers thirty nine from nineteen to
that other guy, Pascal Siakam fifteen of twenty three shooting
from the floor. In fact, he had thirty two points
going into the fourth That was the most by a
visiting player in any playoff game at Madison Square Garden
since nineteen ninety seven, as far as through three quarters
since Glenn Rice back in nineteen ninety seven. Right now,

(30:42):
with four seconds to go, Indiana's up five. They just
hit free throws one fourteen, one oh nine at New York,
not only Siakam with the thirty nine points on the
other side thirty six for Jalen Brunson, but the Knicks
are this close to going down two games to none,
and Game three is at Indiana on night. The NBA
Finals begin June fifth. By the way, the All NBA

(31:05):
First Team is led by Shay Gilgis, Alexander three other
unanimous selections, including Nikola Jokic, Giannis, Antennacumpo, and Jason Tatum.
Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell was also on the first Team, getting
sixty one of the one hundred votes for first Team.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
To the WNBA.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
There are four games tonight, including a Minnesota home win
over Connecticut seventy six seventy and Afista Collier with thirty
three points. There are three late games underway in the
NHL Playoffs, Game two of the West Final at Dallas.
The Stars had taken the opener, but the Oilers lead
was seven minutes to go three to nothing at Dallas.
To Major League Baseball, they're only through five innings. In

(31:43):
New York See, there was a rain delay of over
an an hour and a half earlier. Dodgers lead five
to two against the Mets. At the end of five
to the bottom of the eighth, Mariners lead five to
three at Houston, cal Raley with his seventeenth home run,
Aaron Judge with his seventeenth homer, but the the Yankees
are trailing three to two at Colorado in the bottom
of the seventh. The Rockies enter with a record of

(32:05):
eight and forty two this year. It's the Angels up
one nothing in the fourth against the Marlins. Phillies lead
one nothing at the A's going to the third inning.
Phil's have won seven straight. A's have lost nine in
a row. In fact, the A's called up five players
from the miners today. Minnesota has won on a two
run home er bottom of the ninth by Ty Franz,
three to one over Kansas City. The White Sox were

(32:27):
winners tonight yes for to one against Texas, five straight
losses for the Rangers. White Sox sent first baseman Andrew
Vaughn to triple a he in his one eighty nine
average Tampa Bay and Cleveland with wins. Boston won the
first of a scheduled doubleheader nineteen to five over Baltimore.
The nightcap reigned out. They'll try and play a doubleheader
Saturday at Fenway. The Padres ended a six game losing streak,

(32:49):
winning two to one at Atlanta at a solo homer
top of the ninth by Manny Machado. Wins for San
Francisco for the Cubs, who came back thirteen to six
at Cincinnati. Pittsburgh won in ten, six or five over
Milwaukee with two runs in the bottom of the tenth
on an air and a wild pitch and it's a
final at New York Pacers one fourteen, one oh nine.

(33:09):
The winners up two games to none. Indiana is in
the Eastern Conference Finals.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Back to you, all right, we don't need to update
that game anymore tonight. Everybody knows we won't be updating it.
We will be mentioning. Well, there'll be stuff said afterwards,
and there'll be things you want to say with stats,
like going, oh, you know, the last time a team
did someone did this in Madison squat was before the
arena was built. Oh, it's never happened before.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Actually, it's a little less than that because to score,
to have three different guys score thirty points here the
first two games of a series hasn't happened in over
twenty years. Since the Timberwolves had Kevin Garnette, Sam Cassel
and Latrell spree Will. That was in a first round
series two thousand and four. The Pacers have had three
different players with thirty point games.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
I thought you said we weren't updating this anymore. You're
kind of getting it out of the way here. There's
nothing to update. We're not updated like it's done. Like
heam's up two h seventy six and six. Steve, how
about that? What are teams up?

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Two? Oh?

Speaker 1 (34:03):
Going home eighty two? And oh boy, the Pacers were
up ten. I don't have that yet. They found a
way to hold on here to win this game. They
found a way to not allow threes every single time
down the floor. He'll update that at the moment. I'm sure,
Oh yeah, we're working on it. You know what I
feel like. I feel like that's scene in Superman two
when the President has to give power to General Zod

(34:25):
and he has the press conference and he says, Superman,
where are you? We need you? I feel like, you know,
and he said, hey, yawn, I floor are you we
need you? Suit up?

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Suit up?

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Captain America, we need you.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Hey, Clive Fraser, I don't wear that uniform, man, But
I mean he might distract them enough.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
He's not coming through that door. Thank you, Steve. The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen coming up next, we'll
break down the end of the Eastern Conference Finals a
preview Pacers Thunder Get ready for all that NBA magic.
Yeah that's next Fox Sports Radio and the Mets are losing.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. We still got baseball, buddy, No, I tried.
That's it's another one of the butt But but listen,
I'm gonna zig where you think I'm gonna zag on
the Knick series.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Okay, well, I mean you've been resigned to the fact
that they were losing. So yeah, oh that's still bubbling
to the surface.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
The latent hate and angst. Yeah oh no, no concerns me,
gunnazig Okay, but first, the play of the day. For
over forty years, Tirerack's been helping customers find the right
tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped fast
and free backed by free Road, has a protection with
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tire rack dot
Com is the way tire buying should be. And well,

(35:55):
when you turn superhuman become the latest player to go
into m SG with a thirty point night and have
the night of your life, well we kind of have
to make Pascal Siakam the player of the day.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Cheveno one left in the third Siakam again rules in
a scoop left of the land, and he's on the
line with a chance for a three point player.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
I have yourself a night in a major night, on
this stage when it's most needed. Here, just attacking heart
gets him out of position. You'll get an and one opportunity.
Pacers Radio Network on the call. I mean, look, what
what are you gonna do?

Speaker 3 (36:28):
Right?

Speaker 1 (36:28):
And Scoop Halliburton has the incredible Game one brings them back.
Haliburton has a horrible first quarter, Seakam scores the first
eleven points of the game. At some point you gotta start,
you know, you have to start thinking, to be quite honest, like,
are the Knicks ready for the Pacers?

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Right?

Speaker 1 (36:43):
I talked about the matchups a little bit ago that
the NBA is about matches, and maybe the Nick the
Pacers just a bad matchup for the Knicks. But at
some point you got to think, how does Siakam come
in and have this kind of night? Right? Unless they
knew and the anticipation of what they wanted to do
in Game two was not anything the Knicks were ready for. Now,
I'm starting to get to the point where, Wow, Tibbs

(37:05):
is really getting out coached, right, they're getting out coached
at some point. Not that he's out there making the plays, obviously,
but you blow the big lead, you can't get your
guys to play defense. You're you're leaving open shots. The
pacers are open for threes. It's a different player absolutely
killing you every game. And when the different guy kills
you every game, that's the biggest mark to say, you

(37:26):
know what, this coach knows what he's doing, knows how
he wanted to attack the Knicks going into game two,
saying what they're gonna do coming off of game one
is this, So this is what we're going to do, right.
This is what Bill Belichick. You know, before he became
note for he was dating. This is what Belichick always did.
The best is like when he would play those games
against he got rich against the AFC East so often

(37:46):
it was he'd play AFC East team in the first
couple months of the season and he would do and
he would do something, Okay, next time, we're gonna we're
gonna we're gonna prepare for that, and then it's a
completely different game plan. It's a different player who kills
you one day. It's gonna be Randy Moss going for
a big day. The next day's Julian Edelman, you know,
the next day it's Lisa Edelstein like that, that's kind

(38:07):
of how it goes. But that when I see this,
that's kind of what's going on here is like, here's
the Pacers. The the adjustments they had at the end
of the game. Okay, you got out adjusted, all right,
Now Halliburton was this We're gonna make sure we shut
down Halliburton paces go Nope, beginning of the game, We're
going to Pascal Siakam, and he is taking it from
the beginning. This wasn't hey Siakam hit a couple of shots,
this was he scored the first eleven points of the game.

(38:28):
I really wonder if if Tibbs and the Knicks really
they're just continuing trying to chase defensive strategies because they
they simply don't have anything to stop the Pacers. Why
it's it's look, it's why the Eastern Conference Finals are
over now, right tight, They're over. They're over. It's over.
It's over. I really, I mean at this point, now
I look and go wow. As as big a reputation

(38:51):
as he had as he was in a high mark
coming off the Celtics series. Now I look at TIBs
and I go, what what are we doing? Why can
we not find the matchups? Why is Karl Anthony townsendvis
Why why are the Knicks not doing what they should
be doing with this talented starting five. Why are the
Pacers out maneuvering the Knicks at every turn? And you
look at Carlisle versus Tips.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Yeah, you look at coming out into this game, and
something we've talked about is depth that wondering if that
was going to ultimately be the thing that that would
get the Knicks right tonight. Heavy minutes for Robinson, heavy
minutes for McBride. But you're you're looking at working down
low and in the mid range, which is where they feasted.

(39:31):
We talked about that with the thunder uh in in
Game two and what they were getting to against Minnesota.
But same thing here. Pascal Siakam in the in the
first quarter, he did hit a three point shot, right,
he took two, but he was four of six inside
the arc from the free throw line h in down
So going to the interior, forcing the action and drawing

(39:54):
quick files, right, you start getting into foul trouble and
you don't have the depth of rotation, it's going to
come back to bite you. And once again, tired legs,
bad rotations, Miles Turner, Halliburton others able to find and
spot up seemingly with a standing eight count before they
had to.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Release the shot. Yeah, it is. It's a little bit
of frustration because I'm sure the Knicks are a little
frustrated or a lot frustrated that how is this team
have our number like this? How are we able to
do what we've done in the playoffs so far? How
can we not? But they're breaking down. The Pacers know
how to attack the Knicks, and they change their philosophy

(40:33):
game to game. Right, this was tonight. This was not oh,
Halliburton's terrible, This was no, this is Halliburton doesn't need
to go crazy because Pascal Siakam is absolutely killing the
next like only one guy can get that red hot
at a time, So it's not all how And then
what happened when when the Pacers needed in the second half,
Halliburton comes in and the Knickers they're like they're trying
to plug their fingers with them in the in the

(40:54):
holes when the water is coming through. It's like, oh,
here's a hole here, don't plug this, plug this. Eventually
run out of fingers.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Eventually you get to six guys in double figures for
the Pacers. Haliburton also had eleven assists to go with
his fourteen points and a dagger three.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
Rick Carlisle is coaching rings around Tibbs and the Knicks.
Coming up next the Eastern Conference Finals. Boy, I'm gonna
zig where you think I'm gonna zag on this thing
that's next. Fox
