Bat deep right field, Shoo watches x set up in

The relay throw will not be made.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
The game is tied, and he struck it out with
a slider and he locks with the deep right field
so it goes back. It takes a walk, it's out.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
The hard.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Soda trolls one down, just bow one two coming.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Ratio goes down, strikes and the Giants take the opening game.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Of the series. And he fell tips at the strike
three the gear look at the short stop, Barrius. That
ball is don't get a center field it's a base hit.
They are're gonna send Molta. Here comes the throw from
Perkins gs.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Waw.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
That's a ground ball that's.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Off the glove of the Lunso that's gonna store the games.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
High run.
Speaker 6 (02:46):
That's fine the left center and Mullins won't get there.
It's high him to the wall and White will steam
around third and score. And that's room to right field,
headed back to where the fans, and it's off the wall.
That might have been a chance at Harris and the
ball been directed that way and it's up to the
(03:08):
right side.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Gre see it with the flip the turn by a
Burns and they get the double.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Play to end the game.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
One one to Alonso and he swings and flies one
into shallow left field, backing up as the shortstop Grove
Han indn't field fly called.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Two out and he gets one in the air.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's a pop up on the right side and foul
ground and Olsen is there and a grab it in
the brave sald to the finale of the series, starting
breaks his back grounds it and della quiz with the flip.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
The trade in time and the ball game is.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Over swing and a messmentneel down on the fastball two
and he struck him out and the Phillies within the game.
Two two straight, three in Texas wings the game and
one HiT's the best ball.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Down the left all.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
You want, Why always get a file two large Ara
and Randon Williams and misses and a slider.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
That star goes down swinging Frere and he hits his
POI third the chance for two. The turn by lug
is that.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
They get the five four to three double play that's
drilled to deep set.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Field won't hustling back to the walking track, and he put.
Speaker 7 (04:34):
Round ball to second to second for one ball game
over season over, the Marlins ended with a series victory
in a shutout over their division rival New York.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Mets to knock him out of the playoffs.
Speaker 8 (04:54):
Yeah, break, you don't have a chance to complain when
you blow it the way they date you take it.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
You take it, you get smack to the face. You
take it.
Speaker 8 (05:03):
You don't defend yourself. This team is not worth defending.
We're a worthless piece of garbage organization right now. Hopefully
we'll get up from it, Hopefully they'll make the right decisions.
But stop complaining about the Marlins, stop complaining about the Reds,
Stop thinking you're better than you actually are. Stop worrying
about the Yankees, and worry about yourself.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I knew every one of those plays. I watched you.
It was like a single one.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah, we're wearing these batting helmets today because I thought
you would be assaulting me at some point. You needed
the helmet for every one of the blows just brought
on by ty shirt and frost.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
For some reason. There are baseball batting helmets that are
in the studio. Yeah, and I decided I'm gonna were one,
just because with everything that's happened in the last few days,
I think I need a helmet. Wearing a helmet is
probably smart. But there is a bat that floats around
the studio, so I put it on. As soon as
you put yours on. I'm like, all right, this is
gonna become a combat, yeah, battle at some point. That's
(06:02):
a tongue tong sohres bat Yeah, okay, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
I just feared that eventually it found its way into
the studio and that would elicit a big response from
my colleague.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Here, I'll tell you know what, you know I'm gonna do.
This is the thing. This is the thing, because I'm
being completely honest, takes some time to heal. So, first
of all, not like it matters, but wow, the Jets
don't need to play The officials tonight as well. Two
minutes ago in the fourth quarter, Dolphins lead the Jets
twenty seven to thirteen. Some really bad penalty calls obvious
penalty calls missed against the Dolphins again, not that they
(06:34):
need help, but I'm gonna say this because this is
this is true. I'm in my fifties now and I
was thinking about this basically after Brailn Allen fumbled on
the opening drive for the Jets. Yeah, you know, I say,
you know, I've had bad things happen. We've all had
bad things happened to us as sports fans and and things.
But I don't know that I've had a worse sports
(06:58):
weekend in my life. Because of the sheer tonnage of
stuff that's happened Saturday then this weekend. I mean, I'm
thinking back, I've had bigger losses in the playoffs, certain
things I've had, but I don't know that I've had
a worse sports the sheer again, the sheer tonnage that
began Saturday with Syracuse's no show against Duke where I
(07:19):
had to watch manny dsa at the end of the game.
I don't know the last time we didn't call a
passing play in the fourth quarter. I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Now, on the plus side, at least in that one,
you'd lost your quarterback and jelly the week before, so
you knew it was potentially gonna have some ugly parts
to it.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah, not that, no show altogether. Yeah, then you had
the Mets yesterday and and the and the fallout from
everything that's went on with the Mets giving everything away.
They're bringing Carlos Mendoza back next season, which yay Mets.
And then also, you know, just just on a little
bit of a smaller scale, Hey, it's nice to wake
up on Sunday morning at six thirty and see, Hey,
(07:55):
Jalen Warre in my lineup in both fantasy leagues. But
I take a zero because he was a surprise crass
because I'm not waking up at six in the morning
to fix my lineup. Okay, great, not gonna do that.
No taking an ell in both fantasy leagues because of that.
I was here in the studio. I could have changed
all I was your password taking an OL there, So
I'm happy about that.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Uh, you know, we got Cleveland and Minnesota this week.
Anybody you want me to get in the lineup for
that not sleep through that one, hit the snooze.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
And then with the Jets tonight, of course, you said,
I mean, there's so many different things. You've had injuries
and bad mistakes, and you've had Darren Waller, who hasn't
played a game in two years and was a rapper
a year ago now doing a breakup song with Kelsey Plumb.
He's got two touchdowns tonight because you know Jets, and
here they are now with less than two minutes left
to go, Garrett Wilson is in the end zone for
(08:42):
a touchdown. Can count his time that they're not gonna
give him some crazy as last time. It's coming back.
It's not coming back. It's a touchdown. You know what's
not coming back in the playoffs. No, nothing's coming back. Really,
you think about these three days that I have just
had with Syracuse and the Mets and the Jets. I really,
I don't know that I've had a worse weekend sports
(09:04):
wise in my life. No, it miled up. At least
nothing happened to the Knicks that I know of. At
least nothing happened. So I'm like, Okay, well man, all right,
the Knicks, We're good. I got it. We're okay, Okay,
I understand, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Kawhi Leonard being very defiant about the Pablo to investigation
or whatever means he made turn his attention to the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
He more or less dared him to come. Yeah, keep
working looking, was what he had to say with all
of that. But uh yeah no.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Conversely, I want to watch the Bears win a game
that they never win. So I got that going for me.
In Northwestern beat u c l A.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Yeah yeah, congratulations. I mean you say he's not gonna
have a football program in a couple of weeks, and
you're gonna give up the sport entirely. Really, so you
may you either one, you killed UCLA. That's gonna be
final killed UCLA. You kill you that? I mean, really
I am. That is seventy two hours of hell I
am not. I am not great, Bob, I really am.
I am not great.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Well at six minute, Mega man, the only thing I
was waiting for was the extended remix of Gary Cohen's comments.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
The numbers like no, no, no, they eliminated you. What
time for the team picture? Yeah yeah, Marlin's take a
team picture after beating the match. The play guy sounds
so excited, like they just want to playoff round like
Hane the this is like not good. Like everybody that
asked me the last cup of dude, are you okay?
You're okay? I give him the same line. I give
him the same uh Marcellus Wallace pulp fiction line. No,
(10:29):
but I'm pretty far from okay. I'm not okay. No,
I'm not okay. I can't just say, hey, everything's cool. Yeah,
but I'm like, no, not great, man, not great, not good,
not good. I am not good, but damn sports not good.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
But this goes back to and and you know Rob
Parker and our colleagues here at Fox Sports Radio. As
we do the handoff, he goes he's in it, and
I go, yeah, but you know what, I wish I
had some of that little kid.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
It's something we've talked about before, that the living and
dying with it.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
I'm glad that I compartmentalized it, maybe a little better
as I get older, But it there in the moment.
There's always there in the moment. And I'll tell you this,
I'll tell you real fests because they know I love
them both. Is that you know, we see Rob Parker
and kelvin Washington every week every night when they come in,
we say hi, I talk to them. I open the
door to walk and they go, hey, I go, both
of you, get the blank out. Just get out, Just
(11:16):
get the just get step it. Oh, just get the
blank out at ball leave just go.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
And you know what they left. They left.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
That might have been the fastest exchange we've ever had.
So I mean they're like, okay, your aggression was was noted.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
They left. They left, and I am pretty sure if
I'm not mistaken, the Jets again, they just get in
the end zone with a touchdown. Justin Field's on the
two point conversion makes it a twenty seven to twenty
one game. But you know, because Jets, the on side
kick is recovered by Darren Wallace. Yeah, why not that guy?
(11:49):
Well that's his hat trick for them. Really, Jason's doing
to heel. I mean there's no healing, man, there is
no there's no healing.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
No, no, no, because look he had no time for
any of these wounds to heal. I mean it went
straight from Syracuse.
Speaker 9 (12:01):
I know.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
This is this is an into the Jalen Warren that
the Knicks already suck. I can't believe nothing happened to
them this weekend, Like yeah, like you know, I can't
believe like all of a sudden, Oh hey, guess what
all the Knicks. The Knicks are under investigation for.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Something again, Like I said the Kawhi Leonard presser that
he had brunts this demand in a trade basically said, hey,
there's nothing over here and leave me alone.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Wait, you didn't hear about that one? J Really he
wants to be traded. I can't. I can't believe I
didn't hear that. I can't believe it.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
You know, Yeah, if you go to some NBA Sentel
kind of thing, I'm sure they've got some goodies for.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
You, like it's their pin tweet. I mean, I really,
you know. The best thing I can do, and that's
what I was thinking about this is like, you know
what I should do because I still love sports, but obviously,
like sometimes I get what am I doing? What I'm
gonna do is this, I'm going to start following sports
that I've never followed before, because it's all I can't
(12:59):
just pick up your own basketball or foot but I
can't do that, but I I am gonna start picking
up a couple of sports that I really don't follow,
by some new teams, like uh, really kick into the
Champions League or something. Yeah, we've always watched it here obviously,
you know from my perch on Sunday mornings, watch a
lot of you know, maybe maybe men's lacrosse. Oh good,
you know it's growing fast. And sure, what I'm gonna
(13:21):
do is just pick the absolute best teams in those sports.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
And they're gonna be my team, unapologetic about it, and
like Bee, like all our friends, the children of the
eighties that who are your favorite teams forty nine ers
of Cowboys's Lakers or Celtics.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
The Yankees, I'm gonna I gotta find some sports that
I just don't follow and pick teams that are just
at the top. And if they're not at the top,
after a couple of years, I picked the new teams
at the top. That's good. That's what I do. That's
what I do because I I this is this is
no life, man, this is this is this is no life.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Oh well, man death five thousand cuts and the Taylor
album coming out on Friday. It's gonna be a lot
happier than the old. And so we got to take
lines from the old songs and apply here.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Yeah, this is this is no life to have man
in sports. It really is. It really isn't, man. I mean,
I gotta find it. I gotta find some It's a
difficult seventy two man, there's there's no question about it.
Definitely Premier League soccer. Definitely gonna go there more right up,
you know, I'll take a couple of teams. Maybe I'll
pick two teams that way, it doesn't matter, yes, one,
and we'll get into this game in art is this
Dolphins Jets thing?
Speaker 3 (14:24):
It's how the Jets are losing this game? Yeah right, no,
it's it's not hey, they lost. It was a battle.
Like you're averaging eight yards of carry, you turn the
ball over three times one after a great twelve play drive,
you're opening drive on the.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Doorste self inflicted wounds on the Jets. Just kidd. But
it's good because Aaron Glenn's gonna stop all these Yeah,
he's gonna stop all these. So that's good. Terrible, Hey, Jason,
got why don't we break like the met season? Oh dude,
that was that was that was broken a while ago. Man,
b are open. I hate to say so, I told
you the best team in baseball. That was the first
(14:58):
not the night for that. Frost not the night for that,
not the night for that. And that's not the night
for that. That's not the night. That's not the careful
he's got a helmet and there's a bat ago. Uh
so time ticking down. The Jets are gonna get one
crazy ass play at the end that I'm sure is
gonna get somebody injured. Uh They're gonna have the ball
(15:18):
with about three seconds left from their own one yard line,
one final play left to try to get ninety nine
yards to win this game.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Really surprised they didn't have the returner back to fair
catch it inside the two again, because I mean, you know.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
You had a returner who you know made two horrible
mistakes tonight. I mean, the Jets just absolutely killed themselves
tonight and they're gonna lose this game by six. Just
put the highlights to Yakity Sacks. Business fluctuations make running
your manufacturing business complex, but staff in your business doesn't
have to be let Express Employment Professionals provide the workforce
you need. Go to expresspros dot com to find the
(15:51):
location near you. That's expresspros dot com. Well coming up next,
we have more from a big week four in the NFL. Yes,
we'll laugh at the Mets, We'll laugh at the Jets,
We'll laugh at the tide last night between the Cowboys
and the Packers. We'll laugh at the Ryder Cup. Get
a lot of laughing. And I'm still gonna wear my helmet.
Does anyone remember the laughter extra cockfight too? That more?
(16:16):
Right here? Jason and Mike, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Own the town, my ass?
Speaker 8 (16:21):
How about owning a above five hundred record and making
the playoffs with the second highest payroll in baseball. Look
in the mirror the words Yankees or Marlins, or Baseball
or Manford or anything coming out of your mouth other
than we suck.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
I don't want to hear it. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon

you've been over promising women for years. Well, it's a
(17:16):
Covino and Rich after show, and we want you to
be a part of it. We're gonna be talking sports,
of course, but we're also gonna talk life and relationships.
And if Rich and I are arguing about something or
we didn't have enough time, it will continue on our

Called over Promised.
Speaker 9 (17:29):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also uncensored by

little harder.

but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with Covino and
Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you

Speaker 1 (17:53):
The one oh Pitch Breaking Well Ahead on the Ground
Right Side, picked by.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Edwards throw us to second one low pezt the first
play a killer of a double play as it ends
the Mets season.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Thanks Hollie, Fox Sports Radium, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon, your selfish bastard. This isn't
just a game. It's a once in a generation event.
I mean no, not not the Mets losing the Harlem
Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour. Come be a part of
a legacy that never stops. Be there when history is made.
(18:27):
The Harlem Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour. Get your tickets
today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. That is at Harlem
Globetrotters dot com. That'll put a smile back on your face.
What the Globetrotters. Yeah, now, because I'd be the guy going, hey,
this is fun. And then they would actually throw the
the bucket. There wouldn't be confetti, it would be water
and it would hit me, and then I would find
(18:47):
out it wasn't water, it was lye, and all of
a sudden, I would just start this a crow that
would happen here. I thought you would say the generals
were due the filled that bucket would lye. Oh sorry, man,
I didn't know water lie, I don't know. I'm sorry,
I didn't know. I didn't No, sorry about the violence.
Oh uh, let me just say this. Okay, So Dolphins
(19:09):
beat the Jets twenty seven to twenty one. Right, It's
like I can start anywhere, it doesn't matter. Yeah, this
is a choose your own adventure up this game. The
Dolphins are still terrible, all right, this is not the
Dolphins got their season start. The Dolphins are still terrible.
They only won tonight because they played the Jets. The Jets,
who turned the ball over three times, made countless mistakes.
(19:30):
What they have twelve penalties, they can't tackle. The Jets
are just a bad football team. And I don't see
Aaron Glenn's stamp on the team. I don't see them
getting better. I don't see them taking care of bad
penalties and bad turnovers. They have no offense that they
have nothing, and forget the whole Well, the defense is
too good to start playing like this. No, obviously the
defense stinks and they can't stop two is now undefeated
(19:53):
at home in his career against the Jets.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Okay, still well, and we watched them play a good
chunk of the game. You heard it in Steve de
Seger's updated Tyreek Hill with a knee injury. Still more
tests to come, but he had to be carted off.
The latest and a very long list of guys getting
carted off this week. By the way, well here it's
a dislocated me. You saw his knee in his ankle,
It was not bent the right.
Speaker 9 (20:16):
You don't.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
You don't watch the replay of that. Yeah, no, that's yeah,
just trust me. That's a tough one. That's a tough one.
And and he left the game in the middle, and
and still the Dolphins could do no wrong. Darren Waller
two touchdowns, recoversy on sidekick the Jets. Really, again, I
get to the point where I understand, and now because
I'm in my fifties, I really get it. Is that
(20:38):
And I've mentioned this a couple of times before, but
now I really see, especially with the Mets and the Jets,
is that. I mean, look, there's no there's two. There's
you can't have a combination of teams to root for.
Worse than that, there's no team, there's no combo in
sports worse than the Mets and the Jets. No, no, no,
there's nothing is that. I mean, look, I'm a Chicago guy.
I mean a lot of no.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
No, no, no, you're not even but the expectations aren't there.
That's the thing, right, is that the Mets, even though
you are the your team is the second in the
city like my White Sox and the Cubs.
Speaker 9 (21:11):
It is.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
It's a much different magnitude. And you spent three hundred
and thirty.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Nine million dollars where Jerry Reinsdorff may have pocketed from
the group collective rights fees.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
He may have pocketed three hundred and thirty nine million.
What do we get from Steve Cole and the sales tax?
That's great, But I really I understand this more and
more as time goes on. Like when I was younger
and I would talk to like my uncles or my
uncle's friends or something, and you know me, you know,
be a sports fan young like you know before, I'm
jaded where I am now. It's like, oh, this this
big game, Jets, but they keep bringing you back. Yeah,
(21:45):
as you're trying to paint yourself. But I get it.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
I like last week you were wide eyed optimist. In
the middle of the week, it's still gonna happen. It's
still gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Slack. No, I told you. I told you the Mets
were going to take it all the way to the
final day and then gack it away. Because that's the
most painful way to do. That's right, and that's exactly
what happened, right, that was coming. Look, if you're gonna fail,
veil spectacular. The April first squad, just lose three in
a row middle last week, so by Wednesday, it's done right.
Because here's the thing, honestly, is that there is a
part of me that is relieved I don't have to
(22:15):
watch the Mets anymore, that they are off my plate
for something I need to concern myself about sports wise.
The rest I don't have to worry about because every
day was just sports torture. Over the course of the
past couple of months, every day and this last week
was offul waiting for the games every day, watch them
lose to the Marlins. Look doesn't matter, it's really I
(22:36):
think about this. Now I no longer have to worry
about them. I can just I can just after today,
I can just get mad and let it go.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
But but you're not gonna let it go because they
announced it, bringing the manager, so that Angstell goes into
the off season and Cohen decides he's got to go
and put up a note.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
Of apology, apologize. He spent a ton of money, spent
a truckload of money. He's taking responsibility for it.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
He's a good But for the second straight year, you
have a player as soon as this season is done
at his locker.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Yeah, I'm opted out. I'm o. You can't listen. What
do you want to do? What do you want? Tell me?
Do you want to do? Right now? We'll do it.
What do you want to do? What do you want
to do? What do you want to do? You want
to Mets? You want to do Jets? Mets down? What
do you want to do?
Speaker 3 (23:19):
What you want?
Speaker 2 (23:20):
What do you want to do?
Speaker 1 (23:21):
They bleed? They bleed together. Pick one, no, no one million,
pick one? Pick what choose? We were at you, you
were on the Mets. Choose so stay with the Mets.
Okays it, we were on the Mets. You gotta exercise
(23:42):
these dns. No no no, no, no, no, no no
no what what what Frostburg not doing this? What? What
are we not doing?
Speaker 9 (23:50):
What?
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Just like the playoffs, we're not doing the Mets. What
what what We're not doing the Mets. So we're doing
the Jets anything but the Mets were doing with until
April first. Well, okay, that's what I mean. I came.
I still have to watch the Jet. I still have
to watch the Jets. That's all. I still have to
watch the Jets, right, I still Now I got to
start scouting quarterbacks. And that's myer Lenora Seller's arch manny
(24:11):
whatever it is.
Speaker 7 (24:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
I understand when I would talk to older fans who
have been in their you know, sixties or seventies, like
I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, so and so big
Jets fan or big Mets at whatever it is. Yeah,
aren't you excited about what's going on?
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Yeah, I guess what what do you mean? I guess, well,
I didn't really watch a game. What do you mean
to watch the games anymore? I've and Debbie said, you
were a huge Jets fan, huge Mets fan? What is
it goes? Yeah? And I well, I have, you know,
I used to, but I just don't watch the games.
I'm like, uh, and I never got it. I never understood.
I'm like, how if you if you love doing that
why don't you. I don't get it. I don't get that,
but now I'm in my fifties, I do. I'm like,
(24:51):
how much longer can I go on with this? Can
I go on with this sort where seasons end in torture?
And I get to the point where I'm glad I
don't have to watch that team like I got. I
got thirteen more bleeping well, sorry, bye week. I got
twelve more bleep in weeks of the Jets, who are
zero and four. There was thirteen years thirteen, right, I
(25:11):
mean fourteen? I said fourteen and fifteen. Yes, hey, yeah,
thirteen and fourteen games again, and they're not getting better.
I don't see a stamp. I don't see excited. I
just see them continuing to blow games and shoot themselves
in the foot. The Dolphins are terrible. They stink out loud,
but they played the Jets tonight, who decided, no, We're
going to continue to be our own worst enemy. I
(25:31):
understand when when fans say, yeah, I'm not the fan
I used to be, and I and I get and
what they don't want to say is that, hey, kid,
come here, you're fifteen. Let me tell you something, because
I'll tell you. I'll tell you right now, I'll I'll
tell fifteen year kids you listen right, I'll tell you, hey, hey, hey,
don't root for the Mets and the Jets. They don't.
They don't want to tell me. You know what, when
(25:53):
you see your team suck for as long as I have,
you start finding better things today. Jason, what Frostburg? Well,
I want to hear from Aaron Well, I want to
hear from it a little bit again. I got thirteen more.
What's he gonna say that you really want to hear.
I don't know. Maybe maybe he'll say, Jason, I'm sorry.
He'll say Jason, like Steve going, I'm sorry for putting
(26:16):
you through this. I get I sorry seems to be
the hardest word. I get where where fans and what
they don't want to say is that, yeah, when you
see a team lose for so long, how long are
you gonna stay? This is now gonna be the fifteenth
straight year of no playoffs for the Jets. Every It's
the longest drought in North America. And I feel like,
you know, when you have a dog and someone says
(26:37):
how old is your dog? And they ask you when
you first gave me all the dogs a year, the
dogs are the dogs a year, and then like a
couple of years later, you say you think the dog
is like, oh no, the dog is like three. But
it still seems like he's one to me, Like I
still feel like I'm saying, hey, it's been a decade.
It's been ten years out the playoffs for the Jets.
Oh no, no, no, no, where we're We're blue past that.
Now this is gonna be fifteen years without a playoff game,
where every other team in the NFL has figured it
(26:59):
out at some point to get to the playoffs. And
this is fifteen years and I don't know how many
restarts and the same things just keep happening, man, Like
I get it, Like am I gonna be? I gonna
be one of those guys, Like I'll be the guy
in the movie that at the end when the hero
goes to find him because he's living by himself, like
in a seaside cliff, like in Italy and he hasn't
(27:21):
spoken to anybody in fifteen years, and you just find me,
like you know, I'm fishing one day, just anybody, where
have you been? The Mets won the World Series? Is
that right?
Speaker 5 (27:31):
Son?
Speaker 1 (27:31):
That's nice. You wanna grab a laure right that they're
a little bit in the ocean, it'll be nice for you.
But the Jets won the Super Bowl too, Yeah, that's nice,
that's nice. I'm a fisherman now. I do the simple thing,
except for adding the Mets to it. It's like you
read my journal of my hope. But like with a
lot of sports conversations, it becomes the it's like an
Irish goodbye, like I'm just gonna duck out. You're at
(27:54):
a party and it's like, all right, I'm gonna pay
attention for a little while. I was like, but I'm
not getting fully invested in this. I can't. What does.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
It takes too much of my soul and the night's
gonna end badly. So you just whatever to leave the
situation whatever.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
The sports equivalent is of moving to the woods and
not seeing or talking to anybody ever and being that
hermit that people see once in a great while. People go,
you know, I hear Jason Smith lives up here. That
guy was on the air every night. Man, he was
in radio for two more decades. Everything else, Wow, he
doesn't talk to anybody. Yeah, I don't know what happened.
I bet he doesn't talk. We barely see him. It's
(28:26):
like seeing a yetti, seeing jays walks around him. Is
he wearing jets or Metzkier? No, no, no, no, no,
completely in neutral gear. It's all it's all browns and
blacks and you know, grays, and no one ever really
sees him. He comes in once in a while, comes
into town once in a great while, loads up on
some gear. People try to talk to him. He just
kind of leaves and does his own thing. And that's man.
(28:48):
Then some kid in fifteen years ago, I'm gonna go
Dodn'm gonna find that Jason Smith guy, I'm gonna go
write a book about it, and they're gonna try to
find me. And that's why I'm gonna be and be
somewhere by myself, living where I don't have to television
or I don't have sports, or I don't have anything else,
and I'm just reading and I'm playing games and I'm
just and I don't know what whatever come out type
of communication where I don't have to worry about talking
(29:10):
about sports Like that's it's gonna be what it's gonna be,
And that's gonna be they're gonna find me. Go, wow,
it took me. How long it took me to find you? Well,
you better go back. It's be like when Ray went
to find Luke on achtoe and she goes, ah, here,
I am your lightsaber, and he took the lightsaber and
threw it away, like someone's gonna cut through. You go,
here's a mets hat. But take the mets hat. I
wanna throw it in the ocean, Like that's what's gonna happen.
I like that.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
I was going cinematic. I was gonna go finding Forrester.
And at some point you say, you're the man now
dog getting far.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
What's that movie where they went into the woods to
get Marky Mark where he was like a retired sharp
sharpshooter with the army and he's the only guy that
could do this and he was like living off the
grid and they had to go find him days. You
know how long it took me to find you. That's
gonna be to find me. That's how it's gonna be
the only thing. You haven't really find me. Pam and
(29:57):
Zoe were the only ones that know how to find me.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
I believe the movie were talking about a shooter from
a Yeah. But all of that to say, you have
really described what my next act is. When Fox Sports
Radio in the media world is done with me, I'll
walk the earth thinking, don't man, hey, what happened today?
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Don't know? I mean, that's it, man, that's it. I mean,
I don't know what to say. That's really that's how
I watching this tonight. I've gotten past the point where
I'm like, oh, come on, that penalty was a killer.
Oh come on, man, that turns up. Now I'm at
the point I'm just like, Yep, that's a bad penalty.
Ya wait, which of the thirteen are you talking? There's
a turnover? Yep, there's a non there's a bad call
(30:36):
not called on the Dolphins. Yep, there's no one not yep. Okay.
I'm like, just accept them. Yep. Now, yep, okay, yep, okay, yep, yep, yep.
Stuff that I would would make my blood boil that. Nope, yep,
it's just it's what. It's what it is. It's not
your what it is, man. I really start following other sports.
It's not you're rooting for other teams that are good.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
If anybody has a sport or team they'd like Jason
to adopt remember what comes with it? And how about
a Fresco at Swollendome at Fox Sports Radio. Champions League
standings of looking them up right now, who's the top?
Who's the top of the Champions League right now? So
I'm looking at.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Time not to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. Now we've taken care of Monday Night football, Steve,
at least, hey, what there's a second game going on,
so there is that at least with what's trending.
Speaker 5 (31:21):
Because really the NFL product isn't something to be said
to other countries. Tonight they saved these two games just
for us people. And by the way, just for the record,
the Buffalo Sabers have also missed the playoffs for about
fifteen years ago and have had some heartbreaking losses for
their NFL team as well.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
On the positive side for the Jets, they got field
goals of fifty and fifty eight yards from the ageless
Nick Folk tonight. Only one other Jets kicker in the
last forty years had two field goals of at least
fifty yards in the same game. That was Greig Zerline
in recent years. But yes, The Jets had three fumbles,
thirteen penalties and lost at Miamie in a battle of
(32:01):
zero to three teams to a tongue of Iloa two
touchdown passes to Darren Waller. Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill
was carted off with the knee injury. He had six
receptions sixty seven yards. NFL Network says it's a possible
dislocated knee, which could have multiple ligament tears. By the
way linebacker Jordan Brooks of the Dolphins eighteen tackles in
(32:23):
this win. They're about to start the fourth quarter at
Denver and the Broncos are leading the Bengals three nothing.
Bengals had a very good opening drive tonight settled for
a short field goal and have had very little offense
since bo Nicks with one touchdown pass, one touchdown run,
and one interception thrown in the end zone. Giants wide
receiver Malik Neighbors is out for the year with a
(32:43):
torn acl. Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochi will not return.
He's been offered an advisory role. Skip Schumacher could reportedly
be promoted from advisor to manager.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
There. The Minnesota Twins fired manager Rocco Baldelli after seven
years with the Twins. The Giants fired manager Bob Melvin
back in July. San Francisco had picked up his option
for next year. The Mets Carlos Mendoza will return for
a third season.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Oh because yeah, you need the guy back that presided
over this huge bleep and collapse. Let's make sure we
bring him back.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
That's because the Pirates don't have an opening anymore. They're
giving the interim manager Don Kelly the job full time.
You know, they're both missing the playoffs. The Diamondbacks will
reportedly keep manager Tory Leavello for a tenth season. The
White Sox fired five coaches, including pitching coach Ethan Katz.
The Dodgers will start pitcher Blake Snell and tomorrow night's
playoff opener against the Reds, and pitcher Hunter Green, who's
(33:35):
an LA native. Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start Wednesday night's Game
two for LA, and Sho hey Otani could start a
Game three if necessary. This week, Dodger pitcher Roki Sasaki
is on the roster. Clayton Kershaw is not this week,
but he will be added for the next round if
his team advances to Philadelphia. The Cubs game one starter
as Matthew Boyd, as they host the Padres in a
(33:56):
Wildcard best of three at Wrigley. Boyd went fourteen and
eight this year. Austin pitcher Lucas Gilito is out this
week with the sore elbow. The Red Sox play a
best of three at the Yankees starting Tuesday. Yanks have
won eight in a row. Red Sox third baseman Alex
Bragman should play despite an illness over the weekend. By
the way, the Yankees and Blue Jays finished tied for
first in the ALIS yesterday, but Toronto held the tiebreaker.
(34:18):
Each team went ninety four and sixty eight.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve. This isn't just a game,
It's a once in a generation event. The Halem Globetrotter's
one hundred Year Tour. Come be a part of a

Hallom Globetrotter's one hundred Year Tour. Get your tickets today
at Harlem globetrotters dot Com. Well right now, the Broncos
in complete control over the Bengals twenty one to three.
(34:41):
Early in the fourth quarter. We got more football on
the way, and surprisingly the biggest NFL story of the day,
not something any of us had in our Bengo cards.
That's next right here, Jason of Mike Fox. Someone goes
out to the mess. Jay go away, Jason, don't root
(35:04):
for football or baseball because it's not too never mind
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. This isn't just a game, It's a
once in a generation event. The Harlem Globetrotters one hundred
Year Tour. Come be a part of a legacy that
never stops. Be there when history is made. The Harlem
(35:26):
Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour. Get your tickets today at
Harlem Globetrotters dot com. Early in the fourth quarter, Bengals
with the football trailing the Broncos twenty one to three.
We'll keep you updated on this game as it continues.
But I did not have Bad Bunny getting chosen to
be the halftime act of the Super Bowl as the
(35:47):
biggest NFL story of Week four. Jason, I think it's
a I think it's Bad Bunny's Bunny, Bad Bunn. If
bed Bunny, it is Bad Bunny's Taylor Swift's alias name. Well,
you see, and that's my thing. Like you've heard a
lot all day about bad Bunny, and of course it's
going to be made political. And look whatever whoever got picked,
people are gonna make it political. It doesn't matter. But
(36:08):
what but a different take on this. I was really
stunned and I couldn't believe this is that? How do
we not get Taylor Swift? Like when you had Goodell
was laughing at the press, CoV. We'd love to have
Taylor and Taylor all the How do you not get
Taylor Swift? How is she not the halftime act of
the super Bowl? How how do you do something that
(36:32):
as popular as she is, as popular as she helps
make the NFL? How is she and this could be
Travis Kelcey's final year in the NFL? How did she
not get named halftime act of the Super Bowl? She's
not nearly as polarizing as she was, right and and
and all of a sudden she's someone now all NFL
(36:52):
fans seem to love. I don't know how that didn't happen.
I really, I really, I look, look, I get I
get the things happen in business and trying to figure
things out. But how do you how does Taylor Swift
not become that person? When it was we were being
led down that road that this was gonna happen, right
when when Goodell had his press conference, all hey, we'd
(37:12):
love to have Taylor maybe you know what, what are
you thinking? He says, oh, maybe, Like Goodell doesn't say
stuff like that unless it's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Might have been at the goal line and then fumbled,
like I've seen some discussion for at the goal line
and I fumbling. Yeah, okay, but like a long twelve play,
what long extended drive that did wasn't beset by penalties?
Speaker 1 (37:34):
The one drive all damn night? What could what could
have possibly happened that would cause that to not be
in occurrence at tailors? Because it's not like oh the
NF she wanted too much money, or she wanted this,
or like what could possibly happen where the NFL is
gonna say no, we can't have that or or or
or what is she gonna say the NFL won't give
(37:55):
her that. She's gonna say no, I don't want to.
Like we were going down that road like it was
gonna it was all Rodregondell could do to not say, hey,
we're gonna have Taylor all right, just sorry, we're gonna
tell we're gonna get Taylor. It's gonna be tail and
now we get bad money, which I'm like, wait what Yeah,
that was a little bit of a left turn there.
We'll get to that in a second. But with the
Taylor Swift side of it, like there'd been rumblings that
it was a fight over what would happen after the performance,
(38:18):
with the ability to capitalize monetize said performance going forward.
And I saw this on Twitter that I thought was
funny as hell. Clearly she wasn't aware that the telecast
is copyrighted by the NFL for the private use of
their audience any other use of the telecast pictures, and
so like the disclaimer that you always hear Pat when
(38:40):
he says that without the NFL's written consent is pro
I mean, what do you can't give her the ownership
of her performance? Like, give her the if that's what
it was, right, I don't want to say what it
was because that's were only getting speculation, but that's just it.
But like, why would you not give her that?
Speaker 2 (38:56):
What do you care?
Speaker 1 (38:57):
What do you care, really, But what do you care
if if she owns her perform I don't understand that,
and promotion of her own brot let her promote her
own products. I don't get it. How is that something? No, Taylor,
we can't have you do that. Wait? Wait, what don't
you want to have the most watched Super Bowl of
all time? Don't you want that?
Speaker 3 (39:13):
It's it's the old rule of if the cost of
it is you only get some percentage of whatever she's
able to sell in the post and how many different
versions of her CDs and vinyl have been released in
the last three weeks A lot. There's a lot out there,
a lot of volume. Even ten percent of a lot
(39:34):
is better than nothing. With your principal, we just couldn't
do it because we've never done it before. We don't
want to set precedent.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Does matter?
Speaker 8 (39:42):
What is the matter?
Speaker 1 (39:43):
I get the like the NFL finds a way to
make money, I get it. But like you're getting Taylor
Swift like she can she can call the shots for that.
I think I think you're okay. I don't think you're
gonna lose money on that. I don't think you like
did you do does it? Really matter, Like, did you
really go back and say, hey, we told Tom Petty,
hey man, we all misperformed. Yeah, well okay, yeah, what
do I care? What does it matter? Like, like, I
(40:06):
don't understand this. This is such an epic fail and
fumble by the NFL not to be able to say, yes,
Taylor Swift is coming to half time. They would talk
about this thing for months leading up to Taylor. What's
she gonna do? What a show was gonna what a
show was gonna look like.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
Especially because you have a new album release, right, it's
a new happy era. Well it'll be performances only from
the new album, which everybody hates. Right when you go
see an artist, it's like we're gonna play a new one. Ah, buddy,
Really I was when I saw Bad Money. It's like, no, no, really,
it's not Taylor Swift. It's really not gonna be Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
And it's not Journey or Metallica. I mean really, the
NFL doesn't have epic fails like this that often, but
this is an NFL. This is a Jets Mets epic
fail by the NFL. Dude, we got Minnesota Cleveland this
week from London. Exit up bout to Fresco exit swollen dome.
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon Live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios,
(41:07):
We get back into two of the biggest stories out
of the NFL coming up next right here, Jason and
Mike Fox
