It's not just a reg It's Friday night. Man, it's mucco.
It's a lot of hobo. It's not just a regular hobo.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
I got my feet kicked up. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Yeah, we are ready. Big night. We're gonna preview the
Final four. Tell you who'll be cutting down the nets
on Monday. Huge night for the women's Final four as well.
The Game of the Year happening right now with UCLA
and ukoning and Gino Orima getting interviewed in between quarters. Actually,
I think he's talking so much they're pausing resuming the game.
(01:38):
Uh he You know, there is nobody who likes a
mid game interview more than Gino Orima. Every other coach
is like, ask me two questions, and I'm getting back
to the guy. I really don't care. Gino's like, yeah, hey,
listen you my favorite pasta dishes is a nice little
rigatoni rosa. You know, I'll like, I'll defer to like
pino for one. My favorite color is blue, of course,
(02:00):
obviously my favorite players of all time. Wow, well you
got to start with Rebecca Lobo. She made it all possible. Gino,
I just asked you how you need to break the
press to to uh to make things happen the second quarter?
Oh oh, sorry about that. I mean it is the field.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Go so it's an extended time out. He's up ten
they ford six turnovers. Page Becker's had a big shot
to end the I mean, there's there's a lot to love.
So smiling Geno, let's.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Go, I got it. He's like, he's like, uh, Deon Sanders,
Oh I got time for this today. Let's let's talk
about it like, oh, you never have any no one
ever has any time you have time for how you
have time for silliness? Okay, yeah, I.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Mean this isn't exciting. Jason Smith won five eight, nine
seven or whatever it was.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
I mean, oh no, no, he doesn't hate me like JJ Reddick.
Yeah no, no, no, no, no, no, no, he'll never hate
me like JJ Reddick. No no, no, jj Reddick has
a special place of hatred.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Well, but that's the thing. People always say, Hey, find
someone who loves you.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Like x y Z.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
I say, we also need the residual, find someone that
it's there, consumes them, that you're in their thoughts constantly.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Mike for Jason, it's a long line.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
It is. There's a long line of people. It's like
that returns or what. No, No, remember that part in
the airplane when they were trying to get the women
to stop being hysterical. They're all waiting in line, boxing gloves,
lead pipe. None was waiting there.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
That's good.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
But yes, it is early in the second quarter, Ukon
with a ten point lead over UCLA. The winner, of course,
will take on South Carolina for the national championship. And
congrats to Dawn Stanley, who I think this is what
the the eighteenth year in a row. South Carolina is
in the final four and the championship game. I mean,
only unreal run.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
I'm happy with the seating.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yet I think she might be okay with it. I
think I think now it might be okay with No.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I know, nobody was happy with the Super Regionals.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
No, no, man, that which which really I actually agree
with them on that one. Why cut yourself and have
give more people opportunity to get the games? Shorter travel times,
all that kind of stuff, because usually first Sieg you
get to stay close to home.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
This year not so much.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah, I mean, you know, look, they're they're trying things
a little differently sometimes. Hey, some ideas are going to
be great, some ideas not so great. That how it goes. Yeah,
uh so again, we'll have more on this game coming up.
Speaker 6 (04:17):
Again.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
It's a ten point lead for Yukon nine minutes to
go in the second quarter. Meanwhile, we saw absolute history
tonight and we are on the cusp of seeing something
we haven't seen in the last thirty years. Alex Ovechkin
ties Wayne Gretzky for most goals all time. He had
eight to ninety three early in the first period against
(04:40):
the Blackhawks. I know Mike Harmon was nervous. Oh my goodness,
he's gonna get all three to night against the Blackhawks.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
He didn't get all three.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
If he did, fine, but he ties the record with
this goal in the five to three win over Chicago.
Long shot kicked away by Flarity Lindon is pressure.
Speaker 7 (05:00):
Gretzky in front, saved by party.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Then read about the Star.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
It's taken a.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
Long time, but Quaine Britty is finally in the all
time professional Gold Star. There's the pot checking good play
by John McClain.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
John McClain, how about that, Yeah, well you can.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
He's the guy in bare feet and a tank top.
But everybody stays away with him because he has a
machine gun. So it's he's very easy to He'll do
whatever he needs to do.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Oh see, now you got the machine guns on the court.
I did it yesterday and I was the bad guy.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Well you were the guy that said that was going
to happen, So I mean that was you know, I
mean that does a little bit different.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
Yeah, Jason's defense, John McLain has to have one.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, that's Jet John mc clain. But here is number
eight ninety four because we'll get to that goal in
the second for Wayne Gretzky, but here's eight ninety four
for Alex Ovechkin, tying him with the great one long
shot kicked away by Clarity f Lindon pressure Gretzky in
crit say.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
By Clarity Noriada Star.
Speaker 7 (06:16):
It's taken a long time, and Queen Retky, it is
finally in the all time leading professional gold Star.
Speaker 6 (06:25):
We can do this all night, Jason.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yeah, we can't. You know, I actually have an unbelievable
story about Gretzky's goal, right, and it kind of gets
into why maybe the the Ovechkin record isn't as it's
it's it's while it's a big story, it's not as
big of a emotion grabbing thing like Gretzky passing Gordy.
How was so? Because here's the thing is that he
(06:51):
ties him Tonight game was on NHL Network. Sunday's game
against the Islanders is going to be on TNT, True TV, TBS. Yeah,
I mean, and it's on it like twelve o'clock, like
it's brighton. Hey, let's go now. Honestly, does the NHL
want him to break the record at twelve o'clock on
a Sunday or would you rather break it on a
Tuesday night at home against the Hurricanes? Gee? I know
(07:11):
what the capitals would like that it'd be awesome. But
like you know, now we know, Hey, the record's gonna
be broken. We know when it's gonna I can watch
it whenever I want to, and the game's gonna be
on national TV and I can see it, right because
you know, look the other night I said, I've just
I just kind of am luke warm over the excitement
of him breaking the record, Like it's not because I
feel he's not as good a player, He's not worthy
(07:34):
And it's neither of those things like Hey, he's the
best goal scorer in the history of the game. Right,
He's been a better goal scorer in the last decade
than Gretzky was the last ten years of his career.
Looking up, you know, he's a terrific player. He's got
everything you want. He's got all the the he's got
the championship, he's got the Heart trophies, he's got the
All NHL teams. Like, he's got everything you want. Like
this guy. You know, he's one of the greatest we've
(07:55):
ever seen to play. But it's just not the same.
And I think that, you know, and it should be,
because we haven't seen something like this in thirty years,
because Gretzky broke the record back in the mid nineties,
and I remember I remember the night specifically because again
this gets into wire. We can see the game anytime
you want to. When Gretzky was going to break the record,
(08:19):
this is when I was working at ESPN on Sports Center,
and I was a paon Sports Center at night. And
you've probably seen the name Mike McQuaid bandied around over
the ports of the past few months, because now he's the
guy that runs ESPN, Right, he was named these day
to day operations of all the programming, studio program It
was a big deal when you know people left and
everything else reorganization. You've seen his name in there, and
(08:41):
I was one of mcquaid's guys, right, I've talked talked
about him before, Like now, if I was still, if
I was still at ESPN, like mccuaid would be running ESPN,
and like me and two other people, we would be
like the people with him on his team. It would
be like House, right, Like it would be he'd be House,
and I would be like, like, well, i'd be I'd
be you know, the great looking one, So i'd be
(09:03):
I'd be him. Uh oh no, I don't know what
would I be? Would I be Omar Reps? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
I was gonna say, how are you filling out that sentence?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (09:11):
No generation of House? Are we at?
Speaker 5 (09:14):
Is he playing jazz piano over in the corner while
you ponder things out?
Speaker 4 (09:18):
I mean there's there's nots that go wrong?
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Uh no, no, I would man yeah, no, no, no,
I'd be No, No, I'd be chased. That's it. I'm
gonna be chased because I'm the good and I can
do an Australian accent, So I'm chased. So like we
would that would be the thing, like we that's how
how ESPN would be run right now from page for
like the three of us, because that's who he trusted
like he if you, if he trusted you, you were in.
(09:43):
And a lot of breaks I had in my career,
a couple of breaks had were because of him. And
now he's running ESPN and the legend of him was
made because it was his decision that allowed everybody to
see Gretzky break the record live on ESPN because they'd
struck a deal. ESPN struck a deal with with uh
the NHL and the Kings because it wasn't a national
(10:04):
TV game and it was while Sports Center was on,
and it was, hey, if he every time he comes
on the ice, we want to go to his shift
and we're going to show it live. And then when
he leaves the ice, you know, we we we get
off it and we go back. Hey, Gretzky's back on
the ice. You know, it's ninety seconds basically unless there's
a you know, a stop for a face off or something.
So we did it a couple of times and it
(10:26):
was like wow, it was so unbelievably exciting, like, Gretzky's
on the ice. Gretzky's on the ice, Gretzky on the ice,
So we're doing it. Gretzky's on this probably the third
or fourth time we've done it in Sports Center, and
Gretzky's on the ice and he's getting ready to go off,
and the director and the and the eat and the
executive producers say okay, no, no, no, let's let's uh,
let's get back to Sports Center, and all of a sudden,
(10:47):
he goes, no, keep it. He's staying on and Gretzky
was skating off. But they saw that they were catching
the Canucks and a line change, and they waved Gretzky
to stay on the ice because they thought they could
break in. And that's exactly what happened. And the Gary
Thorne Gretzki because he could see the pass coming, he
did it. He did it, and everybody got to see
(11:08):
it live on national TV. Only because mccaid was a
hockey fan and he knew no, they sent him back on. Stay, Stay, Stay,
and they were within one second of hitting the button
and going back to whoever was doing the show, Like
Steve Levy and Olberman whoever it was, They're within like
one second of saying let's go back. He said, no, no, stay,
He's staying out, and they stayed. He scored the goal,
(11:29):
he danced, they stayed for the for the celebration, and
it was an incredible moment. And you know, maybe because
I have that in my head about it is why
I can't relate to the Ovechkin part of it as much.
I mean, there's gotta be some reasons why I keep
thinking about this, but like something like that, seeing having
that kind of memory of Gretzky scoring that goal is
(11:49):
gonna you know, Okay, everybody's gonna get to see Ovechkin.
It's gonna be over the course of the game. We're
gonna turn it on television, They're gonna go to Charles Barkley,
who's gonna talk about Ovechkin. I mean, all the we're
gonna get to see it that way. And I I
think that in the end, I'm gonna say, boy, it
was just a different era back then, when it was
not every game was like you would think a game
like that, that's gonna be plastered everywhere, right everybody, But
(12:09):
there was no NHL Network, right, we barely had ESPN
two back then for things like this, so it was
a really it was a much different world. And I
think the the excitement of that and seeing that happen
and seeing it happen live and working on the show,
I think that's what it is with me with it
more than anything else, because I'm going, look, I'm gonna
watch the game Sunday. He's probably gonna score because he
can smell it. The only way he doesn't scores if
(12:30):
he backs off because I want to score at home
on Tuesday against the against the Hurricanes, which great, that's
gonna happen, but I mean, and it's gonna be a
moment everybody just then to understand yeah, oh yeah. But
if he scores that, I don't care. Eight ninety six,
eight ninety seven, I don't care. Uh. But like I
think that that's kind of what I've been coming around to, going, yeah,
I can't compare it to the excitement of seeing it happen.
(12:50):
And that makes me feel like I'm getting old because
I'm like, ah, you know, I've got oh yeah, when
I was younger, this is how you found out how
plays that and unbelievable plays happened here when I was younger,
So I, well, am I just getting this is like
an old person's thing, Like I'm over fifties. This is
my old memory of what it is. So I gotta
think that that's kind of where this whole thing with
Ovechkin comes from. Is where Yeah, he's gonna break it
(13:12):
and it's gonna be a big story and a whole thing.
But my emotion for it is not nearly what it
was or what I think it would be.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Yeah, I think when you get down to it, the
immediacy and the ability to have our microwave society. I
want it now, and you can have it right for
a little extra fee. Here's your all in package for audio, video,
et cetera. Like my best example with it goes back
when we were doing our tour in ninety eight. We
(13:41):
went to a bunch of ballparks and it was during
the home run chase. Well back then you didn't really know,
like until they mentioned it on people that had their
transistor radios listening to the local broadcast, Like, oh, they
just said Maguire hit a home run, and it starts
to get this buzz and murmur in the crowd that
suddenly starts aswell, and people are giving a station at
(14:01):
a game fifteen hundred miles away.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
I was like, why is everybody standing? Oh McGuire hit
his home run. He's not here.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
It's still exciting. But it's that same thing.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
We didn't have the ability to just say, oh, you
know what, I've got my cell phone, I've got the
MLB TV package.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Let me pull up the back.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
No, there it was.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
You know, maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I'll find
out when I find out.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
But for you to have that kind of power in
that moment that they were able to say, stay with it, Yeah,
there's some extra juice to it.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
So one away from owning the all time goal record
in NHL.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
I honestly didn't even remember he was a Ranger.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
That was at the very end, right, that was when
I think he scored nine goals and said, if I.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Can't get got away his last goal was at the
very end.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Yeah, if I can't get to ten in a season,
I'm quitting. I'm done. I'm really done.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Mike Schmid thing, I'm out.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
I'm done. Like I made three errors this weekend, I'm
absolutely finished. I'm absolutely done with the shipping software that
delivers use Code Sports for a free trial at shipstation
dot com. That shipstation dot com Code is Sports, so
we'll continue to talk about this. Hey, Gretzky was actually
at the game tonight. He had some fun stuff to say,
as he's gonna be at the game again Sunday to
(15:16):
follow Alex Ovechkin until he breaks his record. But coming
up next, we had a big day in football. Are
the guys that had their pro day today really gonna
go one two in the draft? That's next right here,

(16:58):
get into the big story out of the NFL today,
we talked about Alex Ovetchi look the biggest story of
the night. He is tied Wayne Gretzky for most goals
in NHL history. And the Capitals play at the Islanders
on Sunday and bet MGM has just put up the
ticket prices at USB Arena for Sunday's Capital's Islanders game,
(17:22):
And I mean it's insane because the cheapest ticket that
I could find here that actually you sit in, that
that's that you can actually sit in, is eleven hundred
dollars eleven And there's only like one left on all
of these, Like, I don't know if this is just hey,
(17:43):
here's a little bit of initial you want to get
to the game. This is what's gonna cost you, But
like eleven hundred bucks to go see that, And this
is great for hockey, right, this is an awesome thing.
Eleven hundred Yeah, and it's probably yeah, it's probably gonna up.
There's some tickets as much as five thousand dots like
Super Bowl tickets. Right, you got to think something is
going to be out there. But I would have said,
for certain, hey what are tickets gonna be? Like I
(18:05):
would say, oh, five seven hundred bucks. No, no, no, no, no.
Everything is well over one thousand dollars for seats. Jason.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
You also have to take into consideration that they are
the best team in hockey as well.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Uh yeah, yeah you did? Is it is? You do?
You do?
Speaker 5 (18:19):
They are it is, and the role he's been on
the likelihood of this and being able to say that
you saw this historic thing, plus the outside shot. I
gotta think there's the the markup of the possibility of
the Putin signing and you get to.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
See a horse on the ice.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, well here's the thing now, like if Putin's coming,
like this is what he's got to come for, right,
He's got to come for Sunday and then be prepared
to stay till Tuesday if he if he has to
for uh you know, if they if he doesn't score
against the Islanders, because you know, well Stork score Agins
and Hurricanes. So yeah, you gotta be ready. It's a
three day, three day Putin. It's gonna it could be
a three day Putin thing.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
Can't say I know the travel habits of a Putin,
So I don't know.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
If he's coming by horse, it's gonna be a while.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Yeah, well no, no, but I think he's some barge.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
There's no tariffs against Russia, right, so I mean he
can just come right in like I don't think there's
Russia tariffs.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
Right, and dragons Lensky behind him like brave heart.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Wow. I don't know. Wow, they're all gonna They're all
gonna have another big meeting. They talk about what's happening.
They're gonna meet about stuff in a press box at
ub Arena on Sunday. Oh my good. He had some
great stuff to say tonight. You know, Gretzky's at the
game and he didn't know. You know, he talked to
Alex and he says, look, I want to be there
(19:38):
when when it happens for you, And he said, don't
come until I get to be two away. So he said, okay,
I'll come on your two away now. You know. Obviously
was three away from breaking it going in tonight, so
two away from the record. So Gretzky shows up and
after he scored the first period, like in the first
eight minutes, Gretzky said, I turned to the person next
to me and said, oh, I might be able to
leave by the end of the first period. Wow, you
(20:01):
can see. Oh. Vetkin scores the goal and like he
looks up to Gretzky. Gretzky his waves, gives him a
thumbs up and jim, I'm leaving. Hey, I'll see you.
Speaker 7 (20:11):
All right.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
Here you go, you can get you about six rows
behind the penalty box for thirty four dollars a ticket.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
Whoo man, man, great cash.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
How do you feel. You know, here's the thing about
going to see a game that historic is that you
are really rolling the dice. It's not like, hey, I'm
going to the Super Bowl or I'm going to Game
seven of the World Series or Game one of the
World Series. It's if he doesn't score, crap, man, I
just spent a lot of money down.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
Yeah, well you shout out to see him play. I mean, look,
you had an opportunity.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
All right, if you've had a chance to see him
play for twenty years. So okay, I mean, but this
is you've had a chance to se him play for
twenty years, and tickets are probably seventy five.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
But you're never gonna be on the edge of your
seat for three periods us maybe some bonus hockey like
you would on that day, like you have emotions that
entire day.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
You might be spent for the week after.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Okay, okay, hang on. Instead of the memory of a lifetime,
what's gonna happen is that night's gonna end and then
Ovechkin's gonna score the goal in the next game or
the game after and any time his name comes up,
or hockey comes up and records and goal scoring, you're
gonna think, yeah, spend all that money to go spend
(21:30):
my kids college money for the game before didn't score
against the Island, they lost six nothing, And you're gonna
be upset the rest of your life. You'll be upset
every sin You'll hear Alex Ovechkin's name and not even
be able to smile. You can't, you can't do it.
It's impossible.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Yeah, but I mean, this would be a good road
trip for you though.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
You get to go to Belmont Park, get to have
a little vacation and holiday.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
All right, get to go see the Mets play, Go
see the metsicans home run.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
That's how would.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
You feel if the highlight was the Mets because you
didn't score.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
I think I'd be more pissed.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
You got you have a great time in New York.
You go there, But yeah, you want to see the goal.
You're spending five thousand dollars to see a goal being
scored that I can't guarantee.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
But you're you're you're going for the opportunity. It's like
laying down a bet on a game oh wait, it's
not a guarantee you that it's coming in. No, no, hey,
a lot of tickets.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Stuff, No, no, no, mister in cases colortunity, you're mister inconsistent,
because I'm gonna say what about you when you say, oh, hey,
when you buy tickets to a basketball game, if a
star doesn't play, a star doesn't play, nothing you can
do about it. Exactly what you spent a lot of money.
You expecting to see Lebron James, you cheer, You're going
to go. You don't get to see it. No, but
but you're going to see a guy score. You're going
(22:48):
to see a specific thing. He're going with the hope
that he scores you.
Speaker 5 (22:52):
If he's a healthy scratch, it doesn't play altogether.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
Maybe you're a little salty.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
NBA games to see Luca and and Steph Curry and
Lebron and you spend a lot of money to me,
But but that's okay. Yes, you're okay with spending going
to a game and having them not play. But you're
but you're okay with that, but you're upset. But but
the whole thing, if you go and don't see a goal,
that's okay.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Well, but you get the experience both ways. But what
if you got the experience and experience of wasting money
because I didn't see why I wanted to waste money.
The game still has some value, right, It's like all
the folks that complained, Oh no, I went to see
a play and the guy that was supposed to be
off the mark he didn't go.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Did you still see the play? Yes, you did.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
This is game seventy five of eighty two regular season.
It's the Capitals have clinched a playoff Berth. They're going
to be the number one seed in the East and
the Islanders aren't going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
Jason.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
But the beauty of it here is, since he has
tied for the all time goal record, his ass ain't
sitting now.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
I'm actually really excited if he doesn't score on Sunday
because the next game is at home against the Hurricanes.
What if I been saying all on the last ten
I want you and your team where his goal?
Speaker 8 (24:13):
Oh yeah, yeah?
Speaker 1 (24:14):
You want to be able to watch Carolina yet post
her eyes for the rest of its turn. Yes, yeah,
and we're forever like this.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
My squad gives up too to get him to the top.
You push him over the finish line, you.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Know, And I wonder too, like you think about this,
Not that Ovechkin's not going to go out there to
break the record, but just think about this for a second.
Go back to a year ago when Caitlin Clark was
going to break the all time scoring record and it
was scheduled to be all she had to do was
to have a real kind of regular game. I think
it was against Nebraska, right, it was against Nebraska. It
(24:47):
was like that, and and everybody tuned in and she
had a horrible game and she barely shot the ball,
especially in the in the fourth quarter. And you could
tell this is Iowa saying, we don't want her to
break the record here, we want to do it at home.
What you did very early in the game the next night,
did it at home at Iowa so they can have
all kind of pageantry, like did you? Basically Iowa just said, yeah,
(25:08):
we're putting it away. This game doesn't matter as much
to us as it is Caitlin breaking the record at home.
And I think they lost, right, And I think they
lost the game. And it was like, how does Nebraska
beat think? Because Nebraska wasn't that great they're like a
sixteen to ten team. So how much do you think
going on Sunday with everything clinched, they're gonna be first
place over all in the conference. The Islanders aren't making
(25:29):
the playoffs. Is this gonna be Ovechkin really going nuts
for that goal or is it gonna be Hey, I
can kind of we can kind of put it away
as ice time is not what it's gonna be. And
then Tuesday night against Carolina when we're at home, that's
when things are really that's when things are gonna pop.
Then we're gonna have a show for you, and then
we're getting that goal. I mean, just to be honest
about it, if you're talking about a lot of money
(25:50):
for this game on Sunday, you know you're talking about
it's a lot. It's a lot.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
It's a lot of travel, beverage, and food plus a minimum.
You can buy a single ticket in section two twelve
for twelve hundred and thirty five hours.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Yeah, it's a lot, man, How much.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
Or would you rather just sit and have a nice
frosty beverage, get a little bit of take out and
sit on your couch.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Well, listen, you can always get a frosty beverage.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
That's not that look, but it's going to be less
at home, right you might You're got to get the
twelve pack for the cost of maybe one beer.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
And some of these people.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
Want to smear it off ice light.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
You go to Jason's ice light. I've have had smearing
off ice. I've not had speirinoff ice over.
Speaker 6 (26:32):
You're lying.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
I might have had spiritoff because I usually don't drink
full I usually drink l Like god, I probably haven't.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
You never drink a full one.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Yeah, I just read I just read the ingredients and just.
Speaker 6 (26:42):
Put it down and let somebody else at the bar
drink it for you.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Pass out. Call back time now to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports. A guy who
enjoys a frosty beverage on his couch, and in the
updates studio it's Steve de Seger with what's trending?
Speaker 8 (26:58):
Yeah, it's the little frosty from when's Wendy loved Those
nice women's Final four going on in Tampa and my
goodness is Yukon going to advance?
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Steve Jeeves, you gotta call somebody to stop this. You
stop the game it's out of control.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
If it was a.
Speaker 8 (27:13):
Fight, it would have been stopped by now Connecticut Huskies
forty two twenty two over one seed UCLA. Steve, that
would be a no UCLA with fourteen turnovers in the
first twenty minutes of this game, So it's looking like
yukon South Carolina. In the championship Sunday, South Carolina eliminated
Texas seventy four to fifty seven. That game was tied
(27:34):
late in the first half. By the way men's final
four starts Saturday, Duke's Cooper Flag was voted AP Player
of the Year. Texas A and M's new basketball coach
due to be Bucky McMillan from Samford to the NBA.
John Morant of Memphis was fined seventy five thousand dollars
for inappropriate gestures. New York's Jalen Brunson is listed as
(27:55):
questionable for Saturday out a month by now with the
bad ankle reportedly into the Basketball Hall of Fame tomorrow.
Dwight Howard to the NBA Indiana citt us, are you going.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
To say report Jalen Bruntsey coming back and reportedly into
the Basketball Hall of Fame time as well.
Speaker 8 (28:09):
That's no, that's clearly no. There is no such report.
Not even Sham's mother in law is reporting that, and
I don't believe she exists. Indiana sent Utah to an
eighth straight loss, one forty to one twelve. Oklahoma City
had won eleven straight, but they lost at Houston tonight,
Rockets one twenty five to one eleven. Cleveland and Boston
(28:30):
each one again. Steph Curry is playing for the Warriors
tonight despite of Bruce tailbone. The Nuggets lead late first
quarter forty two to thirty at Golden State. There are
two late games about to start, Lakers hosting New Orleans
which is twenty one and fifty five, Dallas at the Clippers. Yes,
they're in separate arenas in LA now. Anthony Davis now
with the MAVs, is out tonight. In the NHL. Yes,
(28:52):
two goals for Alex Ovechkin at Washington Caps five to
three winners against Chicago, so career goals number eight ninety
three and eight four. He ties for the NHL's all
time mark wins for Detroit and the Islanders. The LA
Chargers signed backup quarterback Trey Lance. The Bear sign backup
QB case Keenum wide receiver Julio Jones officially retired after
(29:14):
thirteen seasons. He did not play last year. Patrick Reed
leads live golf event in Miami by two strokes, tied
for second. Or Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Bryceon De'shamba.
Brian Harmon leads the Texas opened by four strokes.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Mike's brother.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
I don't know that that is my younger brother's name.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Was he the guy that taped his mouth shut during
the round?
Speaker 4 (29:34):
To different?
Speaker 6 (29:36):
Okay, yeah, well he's.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
The quiet Harmon Anyway, I.
Speaker 8 (29:41):
Was gonna say there's a joke in there somewhere. Jordan
speed shot a second round seventy three, fell to a
tie for twenty second in San Antonio. The Masters starts
next Thursday, or Minor Nascars on FS one again the
next couple of Sundays to Major League Baseball. Only a
couple games still going. In Anaheim, Guardians lead the Angels
to one in the second and top of the ninth inning,
(30:01):
and it's just gone final. Milwaukee a three to two
winner against the Cincinnati Reds. This is a team that
lost one nothing each of its last three previous games.
Tonight they were no hit until the seventh inning. They
had gone thirty five straight scoreless innings. Milwaukee three to
the final Phil, all right.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
So progress, Well you said it is a look at
the glass half full. Progress.
Speaker 8 (30:24):
They scored two runs, baby steps, Philanelfia beat the Dodgers
three to two. San Francisco won it's fifth straight at
eleven inning win over Seattle ten to nine. Cubs beat
the Padres three to one. Yankees Aaron Judge is sixth
homer of the year in a nine to four New
York win at Pittsburgh and in the snow at Colorado
Athletics won in eleven innings six to three. Just wait
(30:45):
till the A's get into Vegas. Probably no snow walking
into that game.
Speaker 6 (30:48):
Back to you.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
More people at the A's Rockies game in Colorado or
at Colorado's pro day.
Speaker 6 (30:55):
Oh, there's a lot of people pro day.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
Okay, all right, don't jack it, all right, including some
coaches that weren't supposed to be there.
Speaker 1 (31:02):

been eliminated from that for a long time because I
picked Saint John's and again, never again not doing it
(31:43):
Mike Saint John. I'm still upset.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
Well, you know what that he's coach of the year
though except for that final five minutes.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
Shouldn't they shouldn't that break the tie?
Speaker 1 (31:52):
I mean even that pissed me off. Today. I said, oh,
look like, because you know how much should I say, hey, Patinos,
coach of the year in college troops is not even close?
Right back?
Speaker 5 (32:00):
And then you couldn't get over walk over his body
fast enough to get to Calipera. Yeah, yeah, And then
he said, here, hold my beer, I'm gonna go and
have a bigger lead that he.
Speaker 6 (32:11):
He was the coach of the year until you said that.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Oh man, maybe it's my fault. Maybe maybe you're the
great sports grim Reaper, maybe my fault. Saint John's was
doing fine until that guy decided to say something about me.
All of a sudden, Patinos calling JJ Reddick going, did
this guy screw you like he screwed us. I think
he screwed up our j Lewis too, And now he's
in the transfer portal and we're not getting the back.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
It's like the no homers rule.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Hey, we were allowed to have one, but it's the
anti Jason club.

(34:18):
fearless pick right now. Yukon will be going to the
championship game in women's hoops.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Year old.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
They are something UCLA right now, early in the third
quarter by twenty two, So yeah, it looks like they
should cruise into the championship.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
They skip halftime.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
I think they did. Think.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
I think they seem like that.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
They went from a first quarter gino orim I interviewed
in third quarter real.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Yeah, all of a sudden. Yeah, we're just doing this
game already in progress. Listen, it's kind of a running clock, right.
We want we get people out of here. The game
is late, all right, it's already almost ten o'clock. We're
gonna get go a little earlier.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
And I feel bad putting into those terms because UCLA
has had a hell of a run this year.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Yes, they've lost, they've only lost to USC, well until tonight,
USC and Yukon.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
So today was pro day in Colorado for Colorado's two superstars.
Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders didn't get a lot from
Travis Hunter. He kind of ran patterns for Shador Sanders,
who looked pretty good in his own pro Day.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Which is more than Travis was expected to do.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Yeah, I mean, I don't think you look honestly, I
pro Day isn't having them do stuff is so overrated.
I get you want to see him run and do things,
but it's kind of overrated. But before we get to
the big advice that I could get Shador Sanders locked
into the top three in the draft, here's the best
quote of the day. Because you know, Coach Prime is
not gonna let this moment go without milking it. For
(35:39):
all it's worth making Colorado Pro Day a thing we'll
see you every year. Is gonna make it this whole
big thing. It's a big party. Come out to our
Pro Day. We have all these great players. But what
I love is what he said about Brown's owner Jimmy Haslam.
Likely because oh the possibility exists one or two of
my kids, because he says Travis Hunters is his other child,
(35:59):
one of my two. It's just gonna have to go
play in Cleveland. Here he is talking about Brown's owner,
Jimmy Haslam pleasant.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
It was charming, it was engaging, and uh, it was cool.
It was like, he's a good guy.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
And I like, like coach, I think one of those
guys gonna be there.
Speaker 6 (36:19):
I like a good guy.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
I love that he's a good guy. I loved him.
Not even Brown's fans are saying that about Jimmy Haslam.
No one has said That's.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
Been a lot of court cases that would say Jimmy
Haslm's not that guy.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
I like him. He's a good guy. Yeah, I like it.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Oh oh Man coach Brian, coach Briant, you gotta you
gotta go to the Google machine and uh, I'll go
to Wikipedia and look at Jimmy Haslam.
Speaker 5 (36:41):
Which is which is better than that quote or when
he said he would buy Shiloh a car if he
ran a four to four.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Oh, that's a good one. Whatever a car is out
there for something, you know, gonna Oh, I gotta think
he has a really nice car house.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
That's like me offering Jason a billion dollars if he
can run into a four four.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
I don't know. I think there's a better chance of
Shiloh Sanders running a four.
Speaker 6 (37:02):
Forty no chance. That's why offered a car.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
I know he wait a wait a minute, forty yards
or twenty yards. I can give you four four and
twenty yards forty and I struggle.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
You ain't doing four four twelve steps bad enough, you're
not doing four four four yards.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
No I'm doing I'll do a four four twenty four
four forty nine.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
It's not a four Moses.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
I might, I might do a I might be the
first guy to run a four to twenty yard dash.
I'm running a four to two. I'm running a four
to one in twenty yard dash.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
That was great.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Four four fux faux.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Foe fo fo fo fo fo Foem's a great guy,
he's a g But look, here's the thing for Shador Sanders, right,
and this is someone who needs my public relations advice
more than anybody. Right. He obviously does because you are
seeing his name potentially slip through the draft. And whether
(37:59):
you agree with it or not, perception is reality. And
that's what a lot of people have to understand that perceptions.
Maybe you're misunderstood, maybe why I'm not saying, but the
perception is that boys, Schador Sanders didn't impress a lot
of people at the combine with some of the things.
The optics about him aren't great. So now you're seeing
a guy who was once a lead pipe since to
(38:20):
go in the top two or three slipping through the
first round. I've seen mock drafts where hey, he could
be there at six or seven for the Jets, and
the Saints might be able to come up and get him,
and maybe Jackson Dark goes before. It's like, you have
to stop this silliness now, right because teams when they
get to the draft, they look for reasons to say no,
(38:41):
right whenever it's boy, we're spending a lot of money
on a guy who got to maybe you got to
get this quarterback decision right, and you are looking for
reasons to say no because we'd rather make a different
decision and take Travis Hunter, who is a great player,
will sell his jersey and he is an amazing you know,
if he doesn't go number one, or for cam Ward
goes number one, whatever, it is like, we're looking for
a reason we got to say yes to somebody, but
(39:02):
you look for reasons to say no unless it's someone
who checks all the boxes. We really hope toget it.
We got our fingers crossed and Shador Sanders the last
few months. Again, it doesn't matter if you agree or not.
The perception is, hey, his optics aren't great, and people
want to know if I'm drafting a quarterback. I want
to know that I'm drafting a leader. I want to
know that I'm drafting someone that's going to step up
(39:23):
to challenges and is going to accept responsibility and not
shirk their way from it or blame their offensive line.
Shador Sanders needs to go on a redemption tour over
and it was great today seeing you know, seeing him
on set today was a good first step. But he's
got to talk. He's got to go very publicly on
a bunch of different sports stations. He's got to talk
(39:43):
to teams that are picking in the top three, and
he's got to assuage them. I am your guy, and
you know, and Dion's got to do the same thing,
because the last thing you want is him falling through
the draft. You need to make teams, Hey, you take
my guy, You're gonna get a superstar player because he
has all the tools. I love everything about him on
the field. But you're spending money on a guy. Hey, Okay,
(40:05):
we're in trusting you the next three years of our franchise. Well,
to make sure you're up to this and not someone
who's gonna, you know, shrink from the challenge or blame
other people, Like we want to know that you're going
to be a leader here and players are going to
want to follow you. You have to go on the
next two and a half weeks and say, hey, I'll
do all the injews, talk to all the teams. I
can't everything I can, so they know it is good
to take me and you are getting a superstar guy.
Speaker 5 (40:26):
Yeah, the question always comes out of the anonymous sources.
You know, the guy that's the most salty is the
one that's quickest to the keyboard or to the reporter
to go.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
You know, I have some thoughts on this. Just don't
use my name.
Speaker 5 (40:43):
Don't use my name, which means you can have nineteen
people in the room that are all on board and
the one guy's like, yeah, I just did like he didn't,
you know, address me the right way.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
He nodded a little doe non chalantly in my direction.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
So I don't know.
Speaker 5 (40:59):
The up about the lineman is the one one thing
I think I would press him on in interviews Otherwise,
I want a guy who thinks he can take over
the world. That's the whole point in drafting a quarterback
at that space.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Yeah, but there's there's there's two. You know. We're gonna
have more on this coming up next Jason and Mike
Fox Sports Radio,
