(00:51):
way tire buying should be well Again. Third night this week,
we get to jump right in with a huge game.
I love this, I love what I do. Dodgers and
the Blue Jays tied at two apiece, Dodgers coming to
bat in the top of the sixth inning, Dodgers got
out to a two run lead. Var Show with a
two run homer to tie things up, and here we
(01:11):
are now top of the sixth inning, and so far
kind of what we thought it was gonna be. We
talked about this game earlier in the week. The first
thing we said, I said Mike, was, Hey, Dodger's gonna
get a little bit of a bounce in the pitching department.
Now not quite worre suddenly all of a sudden, they're
just gonna get racked. And Blake Snell's gonna get up
five runs in the first two innings, but they're not
gonna throw like they did in the NLCS, and the
(01:34):
Dodgers are gonna have to hit to make up for that.
And so far tonight that's been the night for Blake Snell.
You know it throws a tons of pitches in the
first inning, really gets in trouble, but gets out of
a big bases loaded jam. But twenty nine pitches in
the first inning means we might get to the bullpen
a little bit sooner than we expect. But he has
settled down a bit, but still touring Homer by var show.
(01:55):
So here's a two to two game in the sixth inning,
when normally at this point in the playoffs for Blake Snell, Hey,
it's four nothing or you know we're going, hey are
we going right to Sasaki? Is anybody else gonna get
to play? So a little bit of a bounce from
the pitchings that which is what what we talked about,
and that's that's what's happened so far for this game one.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, but high wire acts for both guys out of
the gate and you know, pitch count rising, but pitching
out of jams a big mistake obviously to VARs show.
But you know, working the counts, getting deeper into pitch
counts and what they're seeing and and again some good
plays defensively to thwart some of the potential threats. But
(02:33):
as we get into the sixth, yeah, the curiosity, all
the relief pitchers for both staffs standing at the rail
waiting for that call to come down, because like the
than O snap, it is inevitable. We're getting into those
pens here fast.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah. Look, we we had it right on the over
under last night for ya Savage's innings pitch right his
total outs right we had we had.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Total outs was fourteen and a half.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
He had twelve. So all right, so yeah, us we're
winners snell at eighty four pitches right now, I assume
he's gonna go out there for at least one more,
and he'll definitely go out.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, he was at seventeen and a half for those
keeping track at home.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
So I assume what one more for him at least
and if it's a quick inning, two more. But at
this point, if you're Blake Snell, I mean, really, you
tell Dave Roberts when you're ready to come out, right,
like in a two to two game, a tight game
like this, you're Blake Snell, You're the best option we have.
Clearly he tells him when he's ready to go out.
So I assume another inning, maybe two from Snell to
(03:32):
get them through the seventh. But again, you know, a
lot of baseball left and is still two to two
here at the top of the sixth.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, I mean, as we watched this unfold, you know,
you mentioned the fact that the Cruise control here in
the prior rounds, and and take from that what you will.
I mean, the Blue Jays come loaded for bear and
ready to go coming off of that hard fought al series.
But for Blake Snell, it's like five innings to earned allowed.
It's like, okay, you feeling okay? I mean you just
(03:59):
got used to.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Imo, right, man?
Speaker 1 (04:01):
What's wrong with you? Man? What's right? Hey?
Speaker 3 (04:02):
You could utitalize before you came to the plane. Why
are you actually battling me up here?
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Did you talk to Terry Rose here before the game tonight?
How have you given up to see? The thing is,
it's never gonna be too soon for that joke. It's not.
It's not gonna be too soon for that. It's not.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
There's a lot particularly, man.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
We talked about it a little bit yesterday, but like
the Windoors thing of like, yeah, they do things and
kind of shut things down or tried to make it
go away.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
It's like, no, no, no, you all know this from
your household.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
You know this.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
As a student, you do badly out of test. Eventually
your parents are finding out that you could.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
We used to get like they used to send yellow
cards home for attendance to let you know, like in
every week when your kid missed school that week, like
and if something happened, like if we were seniors and
we skipped a day to go to the beach or
something else, whatever it was, we always be like, Okay,
I gotta be home Friday, because that's when you know,
whatever time the mail comes, I got to be home
(04:55):
and I gotta grab that yellow card on Friday before
my parents get it, because it's just a big card
that said your son daughter was absent on the days highlighted,
and we're all like, okay, now let's go get you.
Like you're right.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
The plot of Matilda, someone's gotta be home to side
for the packages. And in this case it was interrupting
or maybe every Saved by the Bell episode that ever
was well.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
You know, a lot more on the on the gambling
scandal in a second, because stuff today was just I
was embarrassed for the NBA. But look, the other thing
out of Game one of the World Series is so
far it's two big Dodgers mischances that that just you know,
may come back to bite him in the ass. On
this one is bases loaded in the second inning, already up,
won nothing and Otani grounds out to first, right like
(05:39):
that's a okay, Like that's a big chance, a boy,
that's the guy you ought up there, bases loaded to
out is a guy gonna get a hit in every
one of those situations? No, but still that's a mischance,
the bigger mischance and this is what I keep coming
back to. And this might be the play of the game,
depending how this game finishes. But Dodgers get their third
run in the third a second run in the third
inning on a base hit to right by Will Smith.
(06:01):
Now there's nobody out, and there's runners at first and second.
Freddie Freeman is at first, and you know Freddie Freeman
is not fleet to foot again. You watch Freddy Freeman running,
You go, when is his hip replacement? When is the
hip perplacement for Freddie Freeman right? And he singles to
right field and and okay, so now it's gonna be
two nothing, Dodgers first and second. Nobody out for some reason,
(06:22):
Freddie Freeman, who saw where the ball was, he saw
where it went, He saw that Straw was coming up
with it in shallow right right field, and he's still
round second, way too far, and then puts on the brakes.
Straw throws behind the play, which is an incredibly smart
thing to do. It takes the Dodgers out of a
big inning and Freddie Freeman gets caught up in a rundown.
So instead of first and second, nobody out to nothing,
(06:45):
and this game could get broken open. It's now runner
at second, one out, runner at second, two outs, blue
Jays get out of the inning right like that was
such a huge base running mistake from a guy who
should know better. And that's why I say this is
mischance and a huge mistake by Freeman, is that it's
not like he was aggressive and he tried to you know,
I'm trying to stretch this. I'm trying to make something happen. Okay,
(07:06):
I get that. You could agree or disagree, but I
get the thought behind it, right, I understand it. This
was I didn't get any of it. You're not going
to even if even a straw throws home, you could
get thrown out going to third base, right, even if
that happens, you could get thrown out. And I don't
get how again, because he saw the whole play right
when the ball went by him, he gave a peek
(07:26):
back and saw exactly where he was getting the ball
in right field, and still Freddie Freeman round at second
base like he was going on to third. And then
maybe he did it himself, or he saw the or
he saw the hold up sign from third base, but
it was too late because the throw came behind him
and they get out of the inning. That was such
a huge mistake. I mean, you go from first and second,
nobody out, and all of a sudden, Blue Jay's nerves
(07:47):
are jittery and and this game could be four nothing
before you even get to the end of this inning.
And instead everything is calm down. It's one out runner
at second, and you Savage can focus on the rest
of the inning and not worry about the fact that
he was wild, that he was putting guys on, he
was walking guys, the pressure lesson. That was such a
huge mistake by the Dodgers, bigger than otani strikeout, because
(08:09):
that took them out of what could have been a
really beginning. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
I mean, look, the strike zone has been interesting, to
say the least over the course of this game.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
On both Yeah, yeah, for both sides. Sides both.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
I mean you mentioned the Otani strike act was that
was that a strike? No, it was not.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
But what was interesting about the freedom play was literally
the half inning prior, the Blue Jays ran themselves out
of potential potentially an opportunity right where Clement tried to
go to third and took a great throw from snell
over at first to swing it over to to get
the out, but trying to be aggressive and you know
(08:46):
you're you're not winning these games one nothing, So I
try to temper my disgust or disdain or or whatever
emotion you want to put on it.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
Going all right, I get it.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
They're they're they're trying to rattle things and open open
stuff up. But by the same token, you can't give
up outs on the base paths because you've got too
many thumpers in the lineup coming up with more opportunity
to break things open and trying to chase these guys
out even earlier, right you, Savage is long gone. Now
we look at Snell coming into the bottom of the
(09:19):
sixth tie game and he's got you know, the heart
of the order up right now.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yeah, I mean, look, that could wind up being the
biggest player of the World Series Game one of the
World Series so far, again, depending how this goes, because
you talk about the pressure of hey, here's something where
man first, since that, we're feeling really good because now
here comes Bets and here comes Freeman, here comes you know,
we're feeling you know, or here comes the bottom. We're
getting back to the top of the order now and
Tayoscar and instead it's well, yeah, now it's a lot
(09:46):
easier for the blue Jason navocate. But even think about it.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Get the top of the first right, two quick outs
and then you know the old chant like you had
in Little League where they t hey start the chant
everything after two and bases load Nanny, he's able to
get var show to fly out. So you know all
of that, you know, potential chaos right off the jump averted.
So here we go to the sixth and we got
(10:08):
a two two game, plenty of basketball, plenty of college.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
Football, wild night here, don't forget the NHL. Gotta remember
the NHL.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Now the day after of the NBA gambling scandal, and
this is where, okay, like this is where what we
said yesterday is true. But it's it's my moment where
I got to say, hey, NBA, at least make it
look like it's a big deal to you, right like
last night when the whole gambling scandal came out. I mean,
it's Chauncey Billups involved in games and sitting players and
(10:40):
poker games with crime families. I mean, oh my goodness,
And is Terry Rozier in a handful of games and
prop bets and Damon Jones letting people know allegedly when
Lebron James was not going to play in a game
for the Lakers, like, okay, we said it last night.
This is an acceptable set of circumstances for the NBA,
who knows that their gambling partnership is going to be
(11:02):
worth more in the long run. This is an acceptable
outcome of Hey, this is bad, but it's not fabric
of the game stuff. And fans aren't gonna go crazy
over this after a bit. And and it's something that
the NBA say, Okay, we know stuff like this is
gonna happen, and legally it got taken care of, right,
So okay, but guys, NBA, come on, man, you guys
gotta make it. Make it look like you've seen you
(11:23):
care about what went on. Right, all the Miami Heat
players said today, and Eric Spolster and all the players
all saying, hey, we love Terry Rosier. He's our brother.
We're thinking about him first and foremost. And for Adam
Silver to say, hey, I was deeply disturbed by the indictments,
and uh, you know, Terry Rozier, to his credit, you know,
still hasn't been convicted of anything. Dude, you're these guys
(11:47):
were indicted by a by by the by the federal
government on charges of fixing games, and you're saying like, hey,
I'm disturbed by it. And hey, Terry's a guy that
hasn't been uh, hasn't been convicted of anything. Oh he's
our brother. Oh my god. Guys, guys, this is all right.
You can't sit here and just thumb your nose at
it make it seem like it's not a big deal. This.
(12:07):
I want to say, why are your heads up here?
You know what like you gotta make I mean, Adam Silver,
I know you don't want to do anything. And I
know that's why the NBA couldn't find anything in there
in their probe of Terry Rozier and why the government
did because how far, how hard did the NBA really
look Because Adam Silver, again I say it all the time,
he doesn't want to do anything. He never wants to
get his hands dirty, roll up his sleeves on anything difficult.
(12:29):
He just doesn't want to do that. So yeah, I
get they didn't find anything, But now here's here's the
government find stuff. And it's a lot of evident. You
could say what you want to about oh in indictments
in the government, and I feel pretty good that the
government has a pretty good case on this. I don't
think you're you're uh, you're indicting these guys and a
huge crime family unless you have stuff. I mean, I
(12:50):
don't know. I mean, I've just stated a holiday in
last night. What do I know? But the NBA, you
gotta make it at least seem like you care about this,
that you are. This is something that Hey, I needed
a message from Adam's over today that was fire and Brimstone.
I needed. This is unbelievable. These guys are never gonna
play in the NBA again because really they're not right
in the end, real Chauncey Billups is never gonna be
(13:10):
He's gonna be banned from the NBA. So is Damon Jones,
so is Terry Rogier. These guys are gonna be banned
from the league. I needed Fire and Brimstone Adam Silver
to say that, and I needed the Heat to be
the one saying we're really disturbed by this and please
just just respect we're trying to go on with the
season right now. The statement from the commissioner I expected
from the Heat and I expect the commissioner at least
(13:31):
make it seem like, hey, man, this is a really
bad day. Are trying to dress this up like it's hey,
it's just a business as usual. Like I get where
you think this is gonna go. But come on, man,
you got you gotta make it seem like you care.
I was so embarrassed for the NBA after today, the
day after.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah, we talked about it last night with just where
Adam Silver and the league would be right, you can
take a little bit of the victory lap bey with
our partnerships, this information gets uncovered right. Talk with Todd
Furman last night. If you missed it, go check the podcast.
Great fifteen minutes that we had with him with some
of the transparency issues and the exchange of information based
(14:10):
on betting patterns, et cetera, and how that's communicated back
to leagues and teams and commissioners and everything else. But
with Adam Silver, you know a lot of what he
tried to do, at least what I saw with with
Cassidy Hubberth and others was the idea of well, I mean,
we don't have subpoena power again, something we've talked about, right,
and you really failed. You didn't say you can indict
(14:32):
a ham sandwich. That is in every movie and every
TV show. Oh yeah, you're supposed to at least throw
that line out there.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
By the age of thirteen, you should know you can
indict a ham sands right, should have seen that on
some television show and know that.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
But with a lot of this, it's the discussion for
Adam Silver is to talk about the gravity of this,
talk about where you're at with your partners and the
growth of the league. Whatever you can do all the
sales job, you will, but you can't try to push aside.
You know, when people are asking questions about the the
(15:05):
time lapse between the alleged fixing issues with Rosier, the
information exchanged by Jones, and why there was silence from
the league because that was one of those Hey, you
could have got in front of this and killed it. Now,
I know you were negotiating huge rights fees and all
of these gambling partnership, sponsorships, et cetera. During the time.
(15:29):
Last year it was estimated one hundred and sixty seven
million dollars for those keeping score at home for the
league only to grow.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Year over year.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
But when we look at it for silver. Yeah, he'll
usually shrink to the back. Do we have any definitive
words for him about any of the Kawhi Leonard and
other you know, obfuscation of things as far as salaries
got No, he's got to put his head in the
sand on that too. So thinking he's gonna suddenly get
in front of any of this, Nope, watch which way
(15:58):
the wind blows and claim victory on the back end.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Man. I mean, you know, I remember that scene from
Eight Men out where where Charles Kamiski was in the
in the witness stand when the players were on trial
for fixing the World Series, and he was there not
really knowing who he was going to take the stand for.
Was he pro players? Was he pro baseball? Was he not?
And the lawyer says to it, you know, after they're
accus of fixing the World Series. The lawyer says, so,
so you're suspicious of the players, And he says, they
(16:24):
were indicted by a federal grand jury. If that's not suspicious,
I don't know what the hell is, right, Like, I mean,
come on, man, you gotta understand this is this is
a big deal, at least seem like it is it's like, yeah, hey,
really deeply disturbed. But again, every time Adam Silver does something,
I'm just I expect nothing from him, and I'm embarrassed.
I'm embarrassed by stuff that he says at.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
It, and then he followed up by saying, Hey, later
on tonight, there's a double header with our new as
our new season gets on to it, don't forget to
catch the Lakers. Have you seen slim down Luca?
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yeah, don't forget. Don't forget. We got big game tonight. Hey, Hey,
the Knicks are going to be two and oh how
about that Knicks game opening night against the Cavs. How
about that Knicks game?
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Boy, we believe we're getting all these double overtime games
to start a season.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Is it fantastic?
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Hey? I know this is important, but how about that
Steph game last night against the Nuggets. Wasn't that that
could be an NBA Western Conference Finals previous? Uh? Sir,
can you please answer the question about the federal gambling indictments.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
A SGA getting to the follow line, look at the
integrity and the way we're officiating this and really making.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Sure we're taking care of our teams and players.
Speaker 1 (17:28):

Snell has just been bounced from this game. He loads
(17:50):
the bases with nobody out after he hits Dalton varshow
so now nobody out. Bottom of the sixth inning. She
and coming in for the Dodgers Blue Jays basses loaded,
nobody out. Buckle up. The World series has started. We'll
have more on this and coming up next. Pete Futec

I am from the future. I told you going into
the World Series. My biggest concern for the Dodgers they're
starting pitching, they're pitching in general, was gonna get a
bounce off of the NLCS. May get five two Toronto
leading the Dodgers right now, Emmett she And has come
in and not gotten an out. Andre shimmanez Metsio with
(19:31):
a single to right field bring in the fifth run
of the game. It is still bases loaded and nobody
out for the Blue Jays as they continue to bat
in the bottom of the sixth inning. So we'll have

Speaker 6 (20:13):
Is this the textbook definition of station to station baseball? See,
I'm straight at you know, all fields here. I can't
be you know, I do more than just football here.
I can watch a baseball game once than a while.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yeah. No, no, this is the blue Jay saying, hey,
don't screw it up. We don't have anybody out, don't
get thrown out of the bases like Freddie Freeman did.
Don't screw it up. Okay, Okay, we're fine.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
Yeah exactly. You know what's really said. I didn't know
this game was happening until like an hour ago. But okay,
you know baseball is not exactly the best yet look
in my world, did you Guys? I'm going to say
a name that you've never heard of, and you're it's
about to be a part of your life for the
next Drew mess to Maker. He's the North Texas quarterback
(20:59):
who just threw for six hundred and eight yards while
all this was happening, lighting up poor old Charlotte tonight.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Because oh yeah, you have to say future future Jet
franchise player Drew Mestamaker.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Hey's six four, two eleven. He's got the prototypical build.
Speaker 6 (21:15):
Exactly. No, it's and he's one of those guys who
didn't play in high school and he's got this weird story.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
But uh yeah, yeah, he's Chad Powers. He's a TV
show chat. He didn't play in high school. Nobody knew
anything about him. All of a sudden he showed up.
He's yeah, he's like Chad Powers.
Speaker 6 (21:30):
Yeah, exactly, that's exactly who this is. Well, well, well,
this little you know, world series is going on. Yes,
there are games being played in Charlotte, which, by the way,
went blue pass the over. So that's what really matters
in the sports fold right now, all right.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Now, as we get to this slate tomorrow, I wanted
to be honest with me, am, I a good college
football fan or a bad college football fan, that my
favorite game of the day is UCLA Indiana.
Speaker 6 (21:56):
Yeah, you're not crazy. Okay, in terms of one, you're
in a stude college football fan because tomorrow's play the
game sucks. But for the most part, I mean, how
about just from a curiosity standpoint, because what if it's
not gonna happen? But I wrote column this week kind
(22:17):
of saying, you know, look, it's not gonna happen, but
what if what if UCLA wins this? Because there's a
whole bunch of factors that play here that kind of
overshape the season, because one that means UCLA is actually
really good. They just beat the number two team in
the country. They still have a game at Ohio State
and at USC. They're not going to win any of them,
(22:39):
don't But what if they did? You know, first of all,
they'd go to the Big Ten Championship, which would be insane.
And then even if they lost like close, wouldn't you
have to put an eight and five UCLA team in
just because it beat the one, two and three. But like,
on the more realistic aspects, the fact that if UCLA
just plays Indiana tough. It kind of got lost in
(23:00):
the phrase that after de Shaun Foster got whacked the
first game under the Skipper regime was against Northwestern and
no one thought anything of it because, oh, well, TCLA,
they're awful or whatever. Meanwhile, Northwestern has played really, really
well over the last several weeks or so, and it's
got a funky game tomorrow and if it somehow beats them,
(23:23):
then Nebraskt team. This is gonna get a lot weirder
in the Big Ten before it gets settled.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
I do like the fact that you did bring up
that it is the Skipper era. It is not new
Heisley is not the head coach.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
It doesn't matter, nobody nobody cares about that doesn't matter.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
But you know what, if you got here like Jerry
new Heizel, you know, no.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
It's I'm jealous of it as well. So I mean
we got that going on. Plus twenty six for those
keeping tracking home, all right, is Brian Kelly getting fired
at the end of tomorrow's game if he loses.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
Gosh, you know what, it's so funny that it's not
a crazy thought, but it's someone has to lose in
the sec it kind of gets forgotten by here, like
Billy Napier, Okay, fine, it didn't work at Florida, And
like you can't lose nine games in a year and
a half. But every single one of those losses by
Florida was either to a team that was in the
(24:14):
College Football playoffs is going to be in the College
Football Playoffs, and the other two is like Texas A
and M when it was seven and one last year
and starting off, and the other one was at LSU.
So it's like, not everyone can go twelve and ohero
in the SEC and SEC fens aren't really you know,
cognitive of that. So it's hard sometimes to win these games. Again,
(24:37):
going back to you know, Northwestern and all this in Franklin,
you know gets whacked because, oh my gosh, you know,
you know, how dare you lose to UCA and it
turns out UCLA's not bad now, and oh my gosh
that you had the indignity of losing at home to Northwestern.
Well again, if Northwestern is good tomorrow, if you're Penn State,
you just clumped the guy who was a fourth down
(24:59):
stop in any those three games away from still having
his job. And then you you know, say, oh, oh, your
back to you austin Northwestern Ucla, Well turns out they're
pretty good.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
P two Tech College Footballnews dot Com inside where there's
Jason Smith Mike Carman live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
All right, game of the day, Pete. Look, it's it's
on opposite Usuley in Indiana where I'm watching UCLA for
new Heiseel's hair and Fernando Mendoza thinking he's going to
be a jet ole miss in Oklahoma. Huge game, look,
biggest game of the day obviously a couple of teams
(25:30):
at six and one. Oklahoma. I feel like they're one
of those teams, like like every week I change how
I feel about them, Like I said, Wow, Oklahoma. Then
I'm like, ah, but Oklahoma. No but Oklahoma. Nah but Oklaoma,
where are you on this? All right?
Speaker 6 (25:43):
Well here, let me let me do this for you
real quick. However you feel about Oklahoma doesn't matter because
it's going to be settled in fast Kajo. Look at
their last five games. That is the hardest stretch of
games I have ever seen a team have to close
with I don't have it off the top of my head.
I do know they close against Texas A and M.
(26:04):
But you name anyone who's ever good at football, and
that's who they play over. They're going to lose at
least two of these next five, so they cannot lose
to Ole Miss tomorrow. Now, on the flip side, Ole
Miss if it wins this thing, it might on the weird,
wrong Thanksgiving type of day lose the Egg Bowl. But
they're not losing twice. So if they win tomorrow, you
(26:26):
look at the rest of the Old Myths schedule, they're
in the college football playoffs because they are not going
to drop two more games after this one, because it's
a bot as breezy as it gets. Meanwhile, Oklahoma, if
it loses this, it's not insane to say that they're
going to have a hard time winning another game the
rest of the year.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
It's Tennessee at Tennessee, it's at Alabama, it's home for Missouri,
and then home for LSU. Though that could be a
non Brian Kelly LSU right, like that could be you know, hey,
we're playing out the string right now, that that might
be the easier one.
Speaker 6 (26:59):
Yes, but if but if we've learned this year though,
as soon as you whack the head coach, the team
is awesome. Yeah, all of a sudden, Arkansas can't be stopped.
I mean, they're Bobby Petrino. Trent Dilfer gets you know,
sacked by UAB and all of a sudden it turns
into you know, the Kansas City Chiefs against Memphis and
(27:20):
then you know, Deshaun Foster and Tim Skipper that sort
of work, you know. So it's been pretty It's kind
of actually not been the worst thing in the world
to get rid of your coach in the middle of
the season, but it's it's the vote thing to do.
But I don't know if it's actually the smartest thing
to do with these financialized unless you think you have
a coach in place already because or else you want
(27:41):
to try to make your your fan base happy and
keep him from screaming at you.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Pete, I'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention
this matchup one of the other ranked on rank matchups
that we've got, because you talked a lot about Northwestern,
how about Vanderbilt as a top ten team against Missouri
chaos in college football this year year, but one that
has great ramifications in the conference it does.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
You know, this actually might be the most really the
most important game to day because, like I said, like
let's say Oklahoma beats Ole miss well, kind doesn't matter
for a little miss because they still might be get
in the collegeoot ball playoffs and Oklahoma still might lose
two more games. But this one, you know that the
winner of this stays alive for everything. And ALMOSTO we're
(28:25):
talking about top ten Vanderbilt. Like I still I've seen
this team bunch of times. I've looked at him. I'm
still not quite buying it. But it's very They make
it so simple. I know it's you know, it's done
so easy. Wasn't everyone do it well? Why don't you
just block and tackle and not make a ton of
mistakes and just keep the chains moving on third downs?
(28:46):
Like it doesn't seem like it should be that they
don't go for anything crazy. They just set up nights
and easy third down chances and then diego. Manzell takes
off with his legs and just goes and makes big
things happen. And then you repeat over and over and
over again. And that was the real thing. I mean,
because LS we talk about Bran You talk about Bran
Kelly before. Usually his offenses are great, this one isn't.
(29:10):
His defense is by far the best he's had at
LSU and PAVIA and that Vanderville offense just carved it up.
So yeah, and this will be an interesting one because
the winner this really is still on the thickest things
for everything.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
He's on Twitter at Pete Futech. That is at Pete Futech.
The website is College Footballnews dot com. Has always been appreciated. Man,
enjoy the games this weekend. We'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
And keeping in our tradition, of course, something big happens
when I'm on the phone with you guys doing this.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Yeah, lots of big just a little bit, lots of
big things has just happened, Uh, to find out more
about this right now? A game that has had all
of our attention throughout the night, some incredible things that
we just got to see, the Knicks beating the Celtics
to improve the two and oh see has more that
(30:00):
right now with what's trending?
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Do you really have no shame?
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Do zero?
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Game one of the World.
Speaker 7 (30:07):
Series in Toronto and the Blue Jays are still batting
in the bottom of the sixth. Oh, Mercifully, there's the
third out of the inning.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Nine runs in.
Speaker 7 (30:15):
The bottom of the sixth and eleven to two lead
over the Dodgers. The precincts have reported. This game is over.
Game two will be Saturday night on Fox TV. You
can leave the telecast now if you promise to patronize
our sponsors.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Blake Snell was.
Speaker 7 (30:29):
The starter five plus innings, five runs, eight hits allowed
in his one hundred pitches thrown. As soon as the
league get up to four to this inning, I did
peruse by stats that fourteen straight home games for Toronto
when they score four or more, Yeah, they've won everyone fourteenth.
You're gonna make it fifteen. After tonight, Dodgers were up
(30:52):
two nothing in the third, Bobaschek grounded himTo a double
play to end the bottom of the third for Toronto.
He did wind up starting tonight a single and a
walk and playing second base. Had a nice backhand play,
not playing short stuff for the first time since the
minor leagues. But this is a guy that's back that
had been out with a spring knee since early September.
One of the rare three hundred hitters in baseball this year,
(31:14):
he batted three eleven ninety four RBIs. He contributed bottom
of the fourth, two run homer for Dalton Varshow to
tie the game first home run that Blake Snell has
allowed to a left handed hitter this year. And then
the floodgates bottom of the sixth, and now it's eleven
to two for the home team. LA starter Snell left
with bases loaded, no outs. Emmett Sheehan came in, poured
(31:37):
gas on the fire. All three scored two singles and
a walk. Anthony Bonda then alot a grand Slam to
pinch hitter Addison Barger, the first pinch grand slam in
the history of the World Series. Alejandro Kirk with a
two run homer as well off the.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Mind Kofax came in to finish the inning and got
the Dodgers out of it.
Speaker 7 (31:56):
Kofax with half an arm would be better than this
Bullfen at this point to the seventh in Toronto is
leading eleven two. Tomorrow night it'll be Yoshinoba Yamamoto starting
for LA against the Blue Jays Kevin Gosman. And by
the way, this postseason, we can update the stat now
teams that out homer their opponent twenty five and five
in these playoffs to the NBA under four minutes to
(32:19):
go in New Orleans, Spurs leading the Pelicans one twelve
to one oh eight, three and a half minutes to
play at Houston. Pistons ahead of the Rockets one oh nine,
one oh five wins for Cleveland and Miami on the
road Atlanta as well. Milwaukee won at Toronto one twenty
two to one sixteen Janis Antennacumbo thirty one points twenty
rebounds at New York thirty one points for Jalen Brunson
(32:42):
in a victory over Boston one oh five ninety five.
Wizards are leading mid fourth at Dallas one oh one
to ninety one, and it's the Lakers hosting Minnesota and
it's currently thirty four to thirty Minnesota in the league.
Late in the first NHL, New Jersey won its seventh
straight game three one oho San Jose forty nine. Ers
quarterback brock Perty out again this weekend with a toe injury,
(33:05):
Panthers quarterback Bryce Young doubtful with a high ankle, Spring
Eagles wide receiver aj Brown out with a hamstring injury,
and Texans wide receiver Nico Collins with a concussion.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Back to you, thank you, Steve O. Now that spurs
Pelicans game just for a second on this you know
we talked about this before Opening Night, and I said,
you know, the Spurs are my dark horse NBA Finals team.
They put it all together. This is going to be
the year where Wemby becomes the best player in the NBA.
And then you watch him opening night that you know,
he's six inches taller than he was last year, and
(33:35):
I think he's his reach is now three feet longer
than it was, and you think, Okay, by the end
of October, we're gonna say that Wemby's the best player
in the NBA. He's fouled out of this game, okay
for the Spurs. And that's why this is a shame
because here's Wemby's final stat on the night, twenty nine points,
(33:56):
eleven rebounds, nine blocks, and two assists. He almost had
a triple double with blocks, and if he obviously hadn't
fouled out, he would have likely had that. He was
twenty nine eleven and nine blocks for the Spurs, who
continue to lead the Pelicans in overtime. Despite all the
highlights we're getting from Zion in this game. I mean really,
(34:17):
every time I see Zion make a play like yes tonight,
I go, man, dude, just stay healthy, just stay healthy.
For five minutes so we can all enjoy this. And
I mean, really, some of the stuff he's doing tonight
as athletic as we thought he was gonna be when
he came into the league. And I'm just like, just
stay healthy for a little bit, man, just please do that.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Seems to be inspired when he looks across the court
and Seeson guys like a guy like Wem Benyama, who's
getting all the headlines that he used to. So I'm like, hey,
watch me be a pogo pogo stick here and for
when ben Yama. This shows you that in the eyes
of the leagues, he's not yet a superstar.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
He doesn't get that sixth Files.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Normally you have to bloody someone to get the sixth file.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
As a super.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Exit out about a Fresca exits all and Dome. The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon. Coming
up next, we have the Play of the Day coming
your way and our first big prediction Football Friday. Of course,
game one of the World Series. But Football Friday coming
your way, biggest game to the NFL. How's it gonna go?
We'll tell you next Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. Uh middle of the seventh inning, blue
Jays lead the Dodgers eleven to four. Show Hey Otani
a two run homer to make it eleven eleven four.
That was probably the fastest rounding of the bases on
a home run I've ever seen from show. Heyo Tani.
(35:52):
He sprinted around the base paths after hitting that home run. Yeah,
all right, we're losing eleven. Die, let's go, let's go.
I'm done. I'm done. Go back to the like he
really wrapped the basis vest.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
It was funny though.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
He was walking up to the plate and I'm in
there talking to Patrick who's in for Justin, and Alex
sayze shirt, and I look at him both I go, yeah,
he's homering on this at bat because.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
And then they go sailing.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
I just I pointed like I was Leo DiCaprio sitting
in that barca lounger and leaned for ooh ooh, and
there it went, and like you said, he knows it
means nothing in the grand scheme, and if nothing else,
all it does is the folks that don't like him.
It gives them another paragraph for their Wikipedia page to
go against him.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
See you can hit now that it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Yeah, yeah, yeah exactly. He told you was all overrated.
So we got more football coming up in a couple
of minutes again eleven and four. Going to the bottom
of the seventh inning. Time out for the play of
the day, and hold on to your hats. For over
forty years, tire racks been helping customers find the right
tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped fast
and free backed by free Road, has protection with convenient
(36:58):
installation options like Global Tire Installation. Tirerac dot Com is
the way tire buying should be. Well, when you tie
a franchise record for most points in the first quarter
of an NBA game, and the guy you tie is
named Kobe Bryant, well, even if you play, don't play
the rest of the game, you get to be the
(37:20):
play of the eight second different Chuck Bob the game
clock so one down that second quarter?
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Oh top chit, Chuck Dick, Tom chich Twel Great.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
Shut Hack Rack Lakers Radio Network on the call, Luka
Doncic in the first quarter for the Lakers. It's early
in the second Minnesota leads at forty five thirty eight.
Luca goes for twenty three points in the first quarter,
eight out of twelve from the field, four out of
seven from three point range. Uh. Yeah, early on in
(37:53):
the quarter when he got fouled, he was like, you know,
shaking his wrist. You're like, oh wow, oh, Luca, something
might be wrong. Yeah, No, he's fine, absolutely, five twenty
three points for Luca. Uh, he is on pace for
ninety two.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
They're gonna need every one of them, every one of
them because the next leading score is Reeves. He's no now.
Hachamura has five and Reeves has four. Otherwise, a lot
of standing around, going, hey, you're just gonna do it right.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
Well, well, there's not. When you score twenty three, there's
not a lot of room for many other points. You know,
it's not like, hey, man, I didn't get my shots, Dudue,
you took all of them. Oh okay, sorry about that, Luka.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
Dancy's one assist.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Yeah, but I'm okay. Twenty three points. I think I'm
okay with the one assist, I'm okay? Is it if
he's going one hundred? If he scores one hundred with
one assists, you're gonna say, yeah, you'll have one assist
to night. Are you really gonna say that? Yes?
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Well, actually no, because they'd both be in the picture
because he would be holding up a card that set
one hundred, and he'd be holding up the number one
points like, yeah, I'm number one. So there have But no,
I mean it's great, but what we say in the opener,
it's like there was a lot of standing around and
in effect.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
To play except for Luka Dacic.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
So it's as much as I'm gonna marvel at, I'm
be like, that's not sustainable.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Man.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
No, No, even if he has slimmed down and hit
the gym and the ellipse and whatever else.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Man NFL Game of the Day on Sunday, if I
can only see one game, it's the Broncos and the Cowboys.
And I'll tell you this as much as I have
told Look, the Cowboys, they're just a fun show, right,
We've talked about it for the last couple weeks. Congratulates
everybody who's tole that take. Just enjoy the fun. Enjoy
how fun the Cowboys are. Enjoy their offense and how
(39:34):
fun they are. It's awesome. I'm not betting against them
on Sunday, not the way this offense is playing. I'll
take Dallas on the field, I'll take the four points.
I won't need him. Denver is coming off an incredibly
emotional win. This Dallas offense is at an absolute extra level.
If Jackson Dark can come into Denver and do that,
then guess what this is gonna happen to the Denver
(39:55):
Broncos again. They escape, They're still trying to figure out
who they are again. I love them overall this season,
But give me the red hot Cowboys offense on Sunday
to win this game.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Good balance here, I'll be curious to see how they
deploy certain does he just is he the travel buddy
for Ceedee Lamb? And then you go with Pickens, Ferguson
and Williams to break things up and on the offensive side,
still looking for.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Balance in Denver.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
They had that one big quarter, but you know, overall
a little bit concerning for Sean Payton and company. Yeah,
I'll take I'll go with you Aubrey with a couple
of sixty yarders.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Whoa, there you go, bomba men. Maybe more football on
the way, Plus we get back to this stunning world
series and the day after the NBA gambling scambal Fox
