Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Go, let's go steaking genius.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Oh, let's go, let's go, let's go.

Speaker 5 (00:34):
What's happening on Monday night football right now? Is causing
me to reevaluate a lot of things?

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Yeah, I have.

Speaker 5 (00:41):
First of all, how hilarious is it to find out
that the winner take all Saturday night Buccaneers Panthers game
might not be winner take all? Because, as Robert G
just pointed out, who said hey to me and then
proceeded to say nothing after saying hi. So I hope
you're doing well, rob G. But yeah, I know, he's like,

(01:02):
he's like, hey, what's going on? Like, dude, how about
our raiders?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Nothing but that makes sense.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Just walked away from you.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Just gone, just walked away. I think he thought he
was talking to you. That's righter.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
Fans will nabby now very snappy. Well, you know, odd
cup butts big time around.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
It is big time.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Robbed an evening acknowledge we were in. I mean, but
how funny is it? First of all, I heard Rob
g say this, and I wasn't even aware of it,
that if the Falcons win their last two games, regardless
of what happens on Saturday, the Panthers are in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I'm glad.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
See now I get to say this. I'm glad you
listened to me yesterday. We me and the Seger both
said that in one of the updates it was it
wasn't the last minute thing, but you have the Falcons
win both games. But nobody thought it was gonna happen.
Somebody just said, I forget about it.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
You know, well they just added to their lead with
a fifty six yard field goal and with seven forty
six to go in the third court of the Falcons
lead the Rams twenty forty three. In my defense, you
say a lot of things that we have to fix
on Sunday night. There is a lot of things we
have to dubble double triple stamp. But b Jhon Robinson

(02:08):
tonight has said in an Atlanta Falcons record for most
yards from scrimmage in a Falcons season, automatically like the
first name that comes to mind. It's like hud beat
Jamal Anderson, Billy White Shoes Johnson. Don't know off the
top of my head who had that record. It might
have been him, but b Jhon Robinson sets that mark.
And I don't know. Maybe this is wrong, maybe I'm

(02:29):
not thinking about it the right way, but I'm one
of those guys that thought Stafford was a lot for
the MVP, thought the Rams were going to be a
team that we'd be seeing on Championship Sunday. Now watching
this tonight, I don't know, man, It's got me questioning
and rethinking everything.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
We hardly talked about this game.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
Last night, I know, but you know, because one is
that fair though, Well, you're right, we hardly talked about it,
as I thought it really had very little meaning except
for the Rams out there too, is very isn't fair
to go ahead and base the guys a year on
the first half of football or even this whole game,
And obviously with DeVante Adams out and I know everybody
has injuries, you know, it's just he's had a remarkable year.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
He really has.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
A matter of fact, there was some people saying, I
think I said this over to you that if he
won the super Bowl this year, he'll go down as
one of the.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Great quarterbacks in the NFL of all time.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Well, let's let's be clear when you say some people
it was one guy and it was dan Orloski.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah it was. But I liked it. I thought it
was a good, good day.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
So there's some people out there, Oh, you mean dan
Orlowski one person that said it.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Okay, Yeah, some people.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
By the way, though, I was right the other funny,
the other funny wording that you sent me today that
I couldn't help it laugh at. Yeah, and welcome into
the Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmen. Arnie is basically
your shown. I think this is the third straight show
that you've been.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Sitting in I don't give her take something like that, and.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
You finally let me sit in with you.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
So thank you.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Well, you sent me the tweet from Adam Schefter, and
I've I've laughed at this verbiage all day long.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
He's the real Adam Schefter, isn't it that I send
you the real one.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Or no, no, you did.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
And this was actually from the Pat McAfee show, and
the phrasing was this, Adam Schefter said on the Pat
McAfee show quote, it's in the realm of possibility that
Mike Tomlin leaves the dealers with a loss on Sunday.
Who uses that kind of phrasing in life or in sports? Arnie,

(04:31):
within the realm of possibility? What the hell are you
even talking about, Adam Schefter? What are we doing here?

Speaker 4 (04:36):
It isn't the realm of possibility though, you know, I.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Think we've said that possibility.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
We said, do you think Tamal will keep his job
and going?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Well?

Speaker 4 (04:44):
It isn't the realm of possible. Could keep it, could
not keep it? You never know.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
I understand there's there's some sports fans that are on
another plane when it comes to verbiage, their vocabulary and
their education. But we're all just kind of hay seeds.
I mean, we're just simpletons.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Man.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
You don't have to sound fancy, you don't have to
use big words, you don't have to use some sort
of phrasing. Is he leaving or not? If they lose?
It's that realm of possibility anyway, welcome to the show tonight.
I found myself very surprised with your rundown, Arnie. For
every show we do and for those that haven't had
a chance to catch us before, Arnie and I do

(05:26):
the Sunday night show here on Fox Sports Radio. We've
been blessed to be doing the ten p to two
a Eastern show for.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Like twelve years something like that.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
I hate to celebrate anniversaries because the way but what
I say, ten peter two give time. See it's ten
p Central time, and I tried to be fancy and
use the Eastern time zone and it threw me off.
I don't like celebrating anniversaries and radio because usually that's
the point where someone looks at another person in management
and goes think it's about.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Time for a change. They've been doing that for a
long time. Enough. Yeah, that's long enough. So we work
together every Sunday night.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
So if you were around, or if you picked up
a podcast today, or if you caught it last night,
there could be a lot of repetition from.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Last night's show.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
But no, no, no, we wipe the slate clean. We
get a fresh Roman numeral rundown. So I laid out
because every single show we do, Arnie doesn't use spreadsheets,
he doesn't use Excel, he doesn't use a power point
or or word or whatever.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
He hasn't believed friendship.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Yeah, well, your penmanship is terrible, but you break out
a yellow pad and you use Roman numerals to write
down all the topics you want to get to. And
sometimes the Roman numerals are like the same things four
different ways.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Right.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
But I found myself in shock that whenever I opened
up the Roman numeral rundown today, Arnie, to see that
the number one topic you had was the college football playoffs.

Speaker 6 (06:52):
I know, well, because it's I'm kind of getting mixed
up with all the days. Like I said, you've been
working this shift, in that shift, and it's Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
It starts on a Wednesday, that's right.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
So Miami with Ohio State, with a whole other slew
of bowl games which well probably won't pay attention to
except for maybe Michigan and Texas, and then you got
the other three on Thursday on the first.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
So I'm ready to roll.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
I'm I'm looking forward to a somewhat of a close
Miami of Ohio State game. I think I've talked to
myself in the game being closer than everybody's giving Miami
credit for.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
I talked with Bob Stoops today on my local show
on our affiliate out of Oklahoma City and thought the
same thing you and I like minded here whenever it
comes to the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
I think Miami's got some dudes.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
And I think sometimes in college football we gauge a
team solely on its quarterback, and Carson back hasn't been
all that fantastic consistently this year. So I think a
lot of people just look in Miami and say, oh, well,
they'll go as far as bet goes.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
But man, I think they're pretty good. I mean, I
think they're really good.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
Do you think the teams that got the buy or
that didn't have to play obviously gonna have the big
advantage or is that just going to be a small
advantage in this one?

Speaker 5 (08:07):
They were all to four last year, the teams that
got the buy, but also last season, all four teams
had played a home playoff game one. This year they
went to and two, with the Sooners and the Aggies
both losing at home, while Oregon and oh gosh, who
else was that took care of business in a big
time way.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
So that's a good question. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
A lot of colleges are very used to it because
you've had ole miss I'm sorry, you've had this amount
of breaks between big games for a really long time
in college football, where the end of the regular season
or even a conference championship game, you're waiting from about
December sixth, seventh, or eighth until January first before you
play your big game, right historically, so to me, there's

(08:54):
familiarity with a lot of the teams that have been
on the by Signetti has been around Nick Saban forever,
He's learned how to handle that. Obviously, Kirby Smart's done
it before. So I guess the only team that might
be pretty unique is what Texas Tech because they had
never been in this situation.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
By the way, touchdown rams, So that's a good question.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
I don't know, Arnie, and I'll be real interested to
see because I don't think the odds makers really care
about it too terribly much. I think in kind of
the way they've looked at the spreads, that hasn't really
been too much of a factor.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
The rest versus rust conversation, right, and by.

Speaker 6 (09:30):
The way, remember what I keep thinking of the what
was it the agent that we had that I had
on Oh yeah, we played it. The guy that was
like Texas TechEd played for a championship.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
And thought the man was crazy. He thought the man
was nuts.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Now again, he did blow some smoke about the offer
that was out there for his play, right, you know
that was that was a little bit of fake news.
But what we did find out is Texts Text put
together hell of a roster and they're gonna be a
problem for a long time because apparently there are no
rules anymore in college football and you can just pay
whatever you want, whenever you want. And Tech, by god,

(10:07):
they're gonna do it. And if there's no one that's
gonna stop you, go for it. Cody Campbell, I'm here
for it. But are you is this in any way,
shape or form lead you to think that they're gonna
take care of Oregon?

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Are you leaning that way?

Speaker 7 (10:20):
No?

Speaker 6 (10:20):
You know, I'm that's really a coin flip for me.
I can see either team winning it. I'm I'm going
with Oregon, but I want Oregon to win. But man,
Texas Tech is just so good offensively. They got the
resident I mean, not that Oregon put out a whole
heck of a lot in their game. Gosh, I just
go back and forth, like I get the fill in
Texas Tech's got the better offense too, So I mean,

(10:43):
I'm probably.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Gonna go with Oregon in this one. But it is
a coin flip game.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
It is wild that you wanted to talk college football
playoffs right off the top, because Bursch has hooked us
up with a great guest, a man who is going
to be covering the Rose Bowl, Ryan Faller from Tide
Radio in Tuscolus, is gonna join us and we'll break
down all things Ty Simpson, all things Alabama related. But
I that's coming up in our next segment. But I

(11:09):
did want to wrap our college football talk with this.
There is one thing that we fight a lot, we
disagree a lot, and the Sager is part of this
too because he's with us every Sunday night. There's a
lot of different teams that we think are good and
you think they suck, and I think that teams suck
and you think they're good players, so on and so forth.
But there is one I think across the sports world

(11:31):
take that everyone agrees upon, Arnie, and that it's necessary
to have more home playoff games and fewer Bowl games
when it comes to playoffs.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Oh, absolutely, I'm home sites. Yeah, I would like to.
I wish this.

Speaker 6 (11:44):
Round was another home round and then you could have
the Final four at a neutral site and then the championship.
That would have been okay with me to work that
one out. But yeah, I need, yeah, I need a
bunch of home games. I love the atmosphere, the fans.
It's too expensive to think that the fans are traveling
right now before New Year's, after Christmas to go to

(12:07):
the rows of the cotton or wherever, to spend money
on tickets and housing and rentals and all that stuff.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
It's just it's just not going to happen. It really isn't.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
All right.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
The Rams are trying to scratch and claw themselves back
into this football game. Touchdown Matt Stafford. So is he
the leader for the MVP again?

Speaker 6 (12:25):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (12:25):
Four fifty nine to go in the third quarter, the
Falcons lead at twenty four to ten.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
We'll keep eyes on this game.

Speaker 6 (12:31):
And Chris one thing, we have to keep your eye
on it. I don't want to go ahead and throw
it make a left turn here. But it just happened
before we got on the air, Jokic for Denver went
down with a serious, I mean a serious knee injury.
I was reading it on Twitter. Doctor Chow, you know
who talks about this type of stuff. He said, he's
hoping it's not an ACL, but they're gonna do medical

(12:54):
tests all through all the night.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
We won't.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
I don't think we're gonna get an answer on this
until tomorrow. But there's they're talking that it could possibly
be in ACL. The way he was clutching it. You know,
when you're clutching and you're in pain, you could tell somebody. Sure,
I don't know, I just did. It could be fifty
to fifty at this point. I don't think we're gonna
find out tonight though I'm that situation.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
Probably not. But you know, I'm I've been home. I'm
in Saint Louis or just outside of Saint Louis. So gambling, sports, gambling,
sports wagering is legal here. I live in the state
typically whether it's not. And so everything that's on my
Twitter feed and every advertisement is Draft Kings or fan
duel or fanatics, and there's been a lot of buzz

(13:40):
on my timeline that they're honoring all prop bets we're
impacted by Nicola yokicch second quarter injury, or at the
very least something called at fanatics book, they call it
the home Affair. Play will honor all player prop bets
that have been impacted by Nicola Jokich's second quarter injury.
I wonder, Arnie, if this ends up, because I mean

(14:00):
season affecting and season ending. I wonder if they'll go
as far as far as impacting those season long props
if people had on him.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
I'm not sure about that. There is a video of
him getting hurt.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
There was a goat.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
I mean, every game's on TV, aren't he right?

Speaker 6 (14:13):
But there was a good, good, you know, view of it,
and it looked serious. Man, it really did, especially the
way he was clutching it and everything. And everybody got
on Twitter and they're like, oh my goodness, please tell
me it's not his ACL.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
So we'll just keep our fingers crossed on that.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Yeah, I mean, it'd be tough, he is. The Nuggets
are looking pretty good this year. I mean, listen, nobody's
on the level right now of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
But the Nuggets were a team that even last year,
you know, pushed him to seven and you know have
been a problem for Okac, so no Yokich. If that's
the case, yeah, then it's obviously a major storyline.

Speaker 6 (14:49):
Do you think it would if knock Wood? If it
is at Acl. I'm just thinking, because you know, he's
not like in the best of shape. I whether if
it takes them all a little bit longer, or if
it has any effects on his rehabilitation from something like that.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
You know, well, I mean he's a beast. He's not
the most spelt guy on No, he's not.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
Anyway, We'll keep an eye on a major story developing
tonight with Nicola Jokis's injury.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Steve de Seger, We'll keep eyes on it all night long.

Speaker 5 (15:16):

Speaker 5 (16:36):
Alabama, Indiana, We're talking Rose Bowl here in seconds with
Ryan Fowler. But real quick, what a swing a momentum
in the Rams Falcons game, Atlanta was looking to kick
a field goal to go back up three scores right,
and Jared Vers blocked it, took it seventy six yards

(16:56):
for a touchdown. Now we start the fourth quarter, aren't you.
It's a whole new game. Atlanta leads at twenty four
to seventeen.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
How aout year.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
It's so funny is I stopped paying attention to it
and said, Okay, I'm gonna pay attention to the Knicks game,
and of course let's go to.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
My Arizona Wildcats.

Speaker 9 (17:11):
Er.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
I'm paying attention into that. I'm like, the football game's over.
I don't need to pay attention to that one.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Well, go back to not paying attention to it, because
things seemed to happen when you don't. All right, let's
talk college football. Already had at number one on the
Roman numeral rundown. We're pumped to be joined by our
good friend Ryan Faller, host of the game with Ryan
Fowler on tied one hundred point nine in Tusco. Loose
a great follow on Twitter to at Ryan see fallor.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Ryan.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
First of all, thanks for taking time. Hope you're having
a great holiday. What's the excitement level been like after
the comeback win over Oklahoma?

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Now, leading up to the Rose Bowl this week.

Speaker 10 (17:45):
You know, it's been pretty off the charts when you
look at it. I mean, think about the first quarter,
and I know you were there. First what half of
the second quarter, Alabama looked dead in the water. I mean,
there was no way to TEA was going to be
able to come from behind. And then all of a sudden,
out of the grave, here comes Alabama. So it's kind
of a it's really breathed a new life in this

(18:08):
Alabama football team from a fan base. You got to remember,
the Michigan rumors were there, even though I never thought
anything that it was going to materialize, but it was
still some anks in this Alabama fan base that there
was still a possibility. They had heard so much on
the social networks. You know that Michigan was going to
try to slip in and make an offer that the

(18:29):
Boer couldn't refuse. And Alabama was able to come from
behind and beat Oklahoma. And now they're as healthy as
they have been. We just got an entry report probably
about what fifteen minutes ago now maybe an hour and
fifteen minutes ago, and it's the best report that I
have seen this year from an Alabama health standpoint even

(18:52):
prior to Florida State, because people say, well, how about
the first game. You have to remember they were with
out there starting running back and their lead on defense
Tim Keenan, the anchor of that defensive front. So they
had not been healthy, this healthy in a long time.
So there is a re energized fan base and an
Alabama football team in Tuscabloos ahead of the rose Ball

(19:13):
they actually just landed about three minutes ago.

Speaker 6 (19:15):
You know that re energized fan base. Was that the
same fan base that if you opened up your phone
lines at the end of the first quarter, they would
have been cursing the hell out of the team.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Is that the same whata or what?

Speaker 7 (19:26):
Yes?

Speaker 10 (19:27):
Yes, yes, yes, absolutely, And there's many games like that
throughout the season that I would have hated to be
able to do a radio show. I mean, but I
think this Alabama fan base can understand. I mean, you
go back to the Georgia game, and I think the
national audience looks at that game and says, man, that
was an absolute beat down.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
And it was.

Speaker 7 (19:48):
But I think you also have to understand.

Speaker 10 (19:51):
There were thirteen players that were not able to go
or practice that entire leading and multiple guys like Parker
Brolls for your great center. I mean, you're running backs,
your wide receivers, you're tight ends. So everybody has that
image of Alabama in their head.

Speaker 7 (20:09):
And remember this is a team, if healthy, can go out.

Speaker 10 (20:13):
And win a national title. I mean, and that sounds
crazy for the average college football.

Speaker 7 (20:19):
Fans, but you have to remember where this team was.

Speaker 10 (20:21):
That you know, going on the road beating Georgia in
Actons probably one of the best wins of the college
football season.

Speaker 7 (20:28):
To be able to do what they were able to do.

Speaker 10 (20:30):
Against Oklahoma, you start looking back battle tested football team
and like I said, there's a new energy in tuscolous
So that believes, Hey, this team can do some damage
out of the Rose Bowl.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Why shouldn't there be, right?

Speaker 5 (20:43):
I mean, first of all, Arnie, you obviously have never
worked in a true diehard college town if you think
that people would act be acting normal after trailing at
the end of the first quarter or second quarter. But secondly,
this was one of the if not the best team
in college football heading into the Oklahoma game, and Tuscaloosa
ryan that stretch they were on, had Ty Simpson at

(21:04):
the top of everyone's Heisman conversation, the top five quarterback
in the draft Heil still might be and a defense
that everyone was sleeping on. I mean, you know, I
said it about of the twelve teams in the playoffs,
you know, ten of the twelve teams in the playoffs,
there was a stretch where you looked at him and thought, damn,
this team could win at all. And Alabama was near the.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Top of that.

Speaker 10 (21:27):
Yes, oh absolutely. I mean when you look at you know,
the way TODs Simpson was playing, the way that this
offense was clicking. Now, they've never been able to run
the football. But here's something that they've had to go
through with all those injuries is we have watched them
build a lot of depth that may pay dividends as
they get in this playoff run, you know. And a

(21:48):
great example is that Elti Overton. You get Elgi Overton back,
which was just an absolute you know, Havo creator all
that defensive front. Well, now you've also developed Keyon Keeley
has come into his own at a big game against
Oklahoma right there when look at the pressure. Kelby Collins
another guy that's had to jump in and play a

(22:08):
significant role. But now you get lt Overton back for
this game, and there was a major illness around with him,
and really it's not been this flows exactly what that was,
but it was a medical situation. Well now he's been clear,
so he's good to go. You get Josh Begas back,
which was limited in that Oklahoma game, you're tied end.

(22:30):
That's just gonna safe the albums. But now you've built
a defense that is championship caliber defense. I've always thought
that Alabama's defense was played into a level that could
go out and compete for a championship. But now you
hopefully get some of those offensive pieces back and we'll see.
You know, the pressure now is on Indiana and Chris.

(22:51):
You were the Oklahoma game. Something jumped out to me
about that game. Oklahoma had been sitting out and in
that second half, it to me it played a factor
because I kept watching the Oklahoma guys look fatigue because
it had been a little bit since they had been
on the football field. I almost wonder, in some ways

(23:13):
will that impact Indiana because it's been a long time
since they beat Ohio State, you know, in the college
football playoffs.

Speaker 7 (23:20):
Excuse me, in the Big Ten championship.

Speaker 10 (23:22):
And so now you've got it with thirty days, and
you can simulate a lot of stuff. I just don't
know if you can simulate three and a half hours
of a game rep in a two hour practice that
you're limited. I wonder if that could be a factor
in this game.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
You know, right, I could go for another round of
home games. I don't like the neutral sites. I would
love for this round too to be in a home site.
With that being said, you think Alabama's going to be
well represented at the Rose Bowler.

Speaker 10 (23:49):
One, No, I think Indiana is going to have the
big number. I think Indiana is going to have the number.
I think there's going to be a lot of Alabama
fans there. But you also have to keep in mind,
you know, they had the week that they could go
out and buy tickets, or even two weeks prior from
them knowing that they were going, so they probably soaked

(24:09):
up a lot of the market. But Arnie, you make
a great point. Okay, And I don't mind telling you this.
I'm not in Pasadena because of the cost, and this
is the first playoff game that I've thought been to
since Alabama started. But I've got to like calculate, Okay,
if I do this more.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
That I know that there's another game, and there's a
you know.

Speaker 10 (24:31):
A national title game, so you know, as a small business, awready,
you've got to kind of calculate that. And I bet
I'm having the same faults that a lot of fans.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
To go to.

Speaker 10 (24:40):
The ticket prices of each four of these games. Guys,
there's the Miami Ohio State game. I think I saw
it forty dollars. Georgia to ol Miss is expensive because
it's geographically it's close to the Sugar Bowl. But even
the Alabama Indiana game, I want to say it was
one hundred and fifty.

Speaker 7 (25:00):
Guys. We need to do this and.

Speaker 10 (25:02):
Quit covering for our bowl friends and our executives. The
bowl system is dead, and unfortunately it is. I mean
it's just let's have a couple, you know, the semi
final rounds. But the bowl system as we knew it
growing up, Uh, it just it's no longer exists for
the average fan because you've got to book these flights

(25:24):
so quickly, and now we're going to be increasing they
become irrelevant even more than what they are currently. Let's
do away with it. Get another look at that Oklahoma
crowd on a Friday evening. Look at the ratings when
you're showing it for TV. You want that environment because
it creates something that you know, it fulls people in.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
That was an.

Speaker 10 (25:46):
Epic of just atmosphere. Even coach Saban was talking about
it prior to the game. I'd hate to know I
had to play in this crowd. Well, that's what we want,
and that's where the NFL has the advantage. You know
for the NFC Championships that they're in the home venues,
that they have that atmosphere that we're all craving, but
we goes to go away from it and put it

(26:08):
in mutual sites.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Hey, real quick before I let you go, I always
like to ask you this, because no one's as in
betted or in tune with Alabama football than Ryan Fowler.
Give me an X factor, a player to keep an
eye on that could end up being a major difference
maker for the squad.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
On I think you've got Thursday.

Speaker 10 (26:25):
I think you've got to go back to Josh Quavis
because when I look at Indiana, I think there's some
money to be made because I don't think they're going
to be able to play man against Alabama, and I
think that zone of those checkdowns are going to be
so important. I think that's the key when you look
at it. But I also looked at that Alabama has

(26:46):
got a lot of things that they have been preparing for.
I think up Tempo's another one.

Speaker 7 (26:50):
But I think you've got to go back to Todd Simpson.

Speaker 10 (26:52):
If he's patient in this zone defense and takes what
the defense is willing to give you, I think Todd
Simpson could be that guy that can make some money,
not just for you know, the rolls balls, but also
for his future in the National Football League.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I agree.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
All right, Hey, Ryan, thanks for joining us tonight. Have
a great countdown to the game. It's going to be
a fun one. I can't wait till Thursday.

Speaker 7 (27:14):
Hey, you guys, have a great rest of your day.
Thank you for the invitation.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
Good luck Ryan Fouton.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Indiana fans are going to get mad with you wishing
him all this luck.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
On you anti indm Hey, Steve Seger is in tonight
because we got all kinds of craziness going on in
the world of sports.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Including oh ball fumble turnover.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Falcons have the football, there's a flag on the play,
but twenty four to seventeen, Atlanta has the lead. Steve,
what a wild game this has turned into.

Speaker 9 (27:41):
I was just thinking, what's the last time the Falcons
franchise blew a huge lead in the second half?

Speaker 11 (27:47):
Ye see, I cha't think.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (27:50):
Penalties on Atlanta by the way offside?

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Oh no, oh jeez.

Speaker 9 (27:55):
You guys just made a great point about the big
four games in college football that coming up. So while
the ticket prices are enormous for Georgia at the Sugar Bowl,
you know Miami has got Oregon against Texas Tech and
you can get in for under fifty bucks in upper
level seats for the Orange Bowl. And the Cowboys Stadium
is hosting the New Year's Eve night game with Ohio

(28:17):
State and Miami and you can get under forty bucks
tickets for that game. For the Rose Bowl in Pasadena,
the face value ticket prices start at about two hundred dollars.
There are a shocking number of end zone seats available
for under one fifty under face value in Pasadena. Keep
in mind, unlike a couple of the other games that

(28:39):
are indoors, it's going to rain again in Los Angeles
this week. There was a lot of rain last week,
new storm is coming. Chance of rain on New Year's
Eve in Pasadena is almost ninety percent New Year's Day
for the parade and the Rose Bowl game, it's over
ninety percent chance of rain.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
But it never rains in California.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
What do you talk.

Speaker 9 (29:00):
I could count on one hand the times it has
rained on New Year's Day in southern California. So this
is going to be rare, but it's going to happen.
And being the beautiful old stadium that it is, there
is absolutely no covering whatsoever is zero. I don't believe
the umbrellas are allowed either.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
No, you can't do that. There's no umbrella is allowed.

Speaker 9 (29:22):
We got about nine minutes to go in the Monday
night football game at Atlanta. The Falcons are holding on
twenty four to seventeen over the Rams, and my goodness,
Matthew Stafford just through a third interception.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Of the night.

Speaker 9 (29:34):
Wow, So this might actually happen. We talked about it
last night, Arnie. It's amazing that the Carolina game is
coming up this Saturday to end their regular season at
Tampa Bay, and everybody rightly so is thinking, Okay, Carolina
wins that or even a tie at Tampa Bay Saturday,
they clinch the NFC South title. There's another way they

(29:56):
can win it. Even if Carolina loses Saturday. If the
Falcons win these last two games of THEIRS, it'll be
a three way tie for the division lead and Carolina
advances through tiebreaker. Unbelievable, and each of the three teams
would be finishing eight and nine. Carolina at eight and
nine would be the number four seed in the NFC.

Speaker 5 (30:20):
Wow, by the way, not just a pick pick six
unless they said he stepped out of bounds.

Speaker 9 (30:26):
And they're looking at this, they are, oh, he went
down the sidelines. He might have stepped out before that,
but yes, there is a flag on top of that.
Of course, so we've got ten minutes to go at
Atlanta twenty four to seventeen the lead.

Speaker 11 (30:38):
He clearly stepped out of bounds on the sideline, but
that is.

Speaker 9 (30:41):
One touchdown pass, three interceptions, including a first half pick
six for Matthew Stafford and b John Robinson on seventeen carries.
Has one hundred and sixty seven rushing, including the ninety
three yard TD just before the half of the Falcons,
where he hit a top speed of twenty one.

Speaker 11 (31:00):
And a quarter miles per hour on that run.

Speaker 9 (31:03):
It was the longest rushing TD in the history of
the Atlanta Falcons, his longest run pro or college Matthew
Stafford with the pick six in the first half. That
was the thirty second pick six of his long career,
tying Brett Fahr for most all time. You knew things
were bad when the Rams didn't score a point in
the first quarter against Atlanta. They hadn't been held a

(31:26):
scoreless in a first quarter since back in Week six,
and then to not score a point in the entire
first half, they were down twenty one nothing at the break.
That had only happened two times ever under Sean mcvayh
and one of those was that low scoring Super Bowl
against the Patriots where Bill Belichick completely out coached him.
I will say Pukin Nakua now has become the fastest

(31:48):
player in NFL history to get up to three hundred
career receptions. In only his forty third game. He's up
to three hundred catches. That passes Odell Beckham Junior and
Michael Thomas on that list. On the stat sheet for tonight,
it's just four receptions thirty six yards for Nikua. DeVante
Adams of the Rams out due to the bad Hams.
During running back Blake Korum was out in the first

(32:10):
half with an ankle injury and trying to return. Tackle
Alaric Jackson certainly missed for the Rams with the knee injury.
Atlanta with the ball around midfield up by seven eight
minutes to go in this one, the Chargers will rest
quarterback Justin Herbert this Sunday at Denver. The Raiders say
quarterback Gino Smith, with his ankle injury, is likely out

(32:30):
this weekend against the Chiefs. Kansas City coach Andy Reid
plans to return next season. He turned sixty eight in March.
Another win for the Oklahoma City Thunder twenty eight and
five the record. They won one forty to one twenty
nine over Atlanta. Hawks gard Trey Young was out with
a bruce quad Shay Giljos Alexander thirty nine points. Miami

(32:51):
beat Denver won forty seven to one twenty three as
Nuggets star Nikola Jokic left with a knee injury. At Houston,
Kevin Durant thirty points, or Alpera and Shangoon was out
for the Rockets with a calf injury. Houston beat Indiana one,
twenty six one nineteen Pacers record six and twenty seven
Minnesota one at Chicago one thirty six, one oh one.

(33:13):
Kobe White of the Bulls left with a calf injury
and Josh Giddy left with a hamstring injury. Wins for
Golden State and Toronto, wins for Milwaukee and for Phoenix,
and it's just gone final. The Knicks win one thirty
one thirty to one twenty five at New Orleans in
honor of Jason Smith. We have a Knicks fan on
the show.

Speaker 11 (33:32):
There you go, Beck to you.

Speaker 6 (33:34):
So that's that standalone Saturday game could be meaningless. That
first game could be meaningless.

Speaker 9 (33:40):
No, because the second Atlanta game isn't until Sunday. We
won't find all week until that last Sunday.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
I got.

Speaker 5 (33:46):
So the bus can win and be all celibratory. But
then if the Falcons win tonight and then went on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
That's right, there's it won't matter for the Bikes and
the Falcons play the Saints.

Speaker 5 (33:57):
Oh jeez, oh, all right, well, I guess you can
say no harm, no foul here a bit for the
Los Angeles Rams, because you went from throwing what looked
like a pick six, but and by the way what
NFL official couldn't see the dude step clearly out of bounds.

(34:18):
I mean, I get it, you want to let a
play continue, but I mean Watts was clearly out of
bounds on their play, Like, what are we doing? So
you get the pick six, you get an unsportsmanlike conduct
for the celebration knocks them back out of field goal range.
They go three and out, and now the Falcons have
to punt it back to the Rams, who will take
over first and ten on their own eleven yard line

(34:41):
was seven twenty eight to go down a touchdown. But,
like de Seger said, three picks tonight for Matt Stafford.
Is it leading you to question the Rams or did
you kind of think they might struggle tonight? I mean,
I'm I'm in a blender of confusion with how sold
I was on the Rams and now I'm freak out
based on what I'm seeing tonight.

Speaker 6 (35:01):
No, I mean, look, I'm surprised that they're struggling the
way they are. I mean, let's face it, the Falcons
have not had a remarkable year at all, so I
thought they.

Speaker 4 (35:11):
Were gonna go ahead win this game.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
Matter of fact, ninety one percent of the bets in
vecas or on the rams.

Speaker 10 (35:16):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Think about that for a second, Chris.

Speaker 6 (35:19):
Ninety one percent of people betting this game said I
got to take the rams and I'm gonna lady the what.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Was it seven seven and a half.

Speaker 6 (35:27):
Some people laid eight points in this one, But you
never go ahead and lay like that with.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
A home teams.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
So I'm surprised they're struggling like this, but I'm not
surprised that it's close. But the three interceptions, I mean,
he's had games like this before and he's it's just
coming up at a bad moment right now.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
Man, We would love to hear from y'all tonight. The

to double check tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
I bet I have my pigs in though, so I'm
ready to go.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
All right, the Rams trying to move the football. They
trail by a touchdown. Can they get it done? We'll
follow along all night long with Arnie and Plank right
here Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
One for one is what they put on the clock,
and here goes to John RABBITTSN thirty thirty five forty midfield,
it's a fundraise Robinson thirty fifteen, ten five house tall.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
Are you serious? Oh my goodness, he just win ninety three. Ah.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
That is the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network with our tire
Rack play of the day. For over forty years, Tyraq
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, shipped fast and free, backed
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation tyrack dot Com. The way tire buying

(37:51):
should be touchdown Beajohn Robinson, but touchdown Rams, Yeah, got
a whole new football game. You tried to take away
added up. You tried to take away his mv P
trophy and he did. Wouldn't give it to you, my friend,
He wouldn't give it to you. That's that doesn't work
as well as off and they didn't ride back. Last
loss for the Falcons after leading by twenty one or

(38:11):
more points in the fourth quarter our twenty one or
more points in the game period was indeed that Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Game against the New England Paper twenty.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
Twenty four all with two forty six to go in
the football game. This is this is wild man, it's
been now, it's it's weird.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
We do again.

Speaker 5 (38:30):
We do the show on Sunday night, so we have
Sunday Night football going on during the show. So it's
kind of like, I don't want to say we're pros
at doing a show while a game is on the air,
but we're well seasoned at it. Now, you tried to
turn away from this game because you're gonna go watch
your knicks. I can't get away from it for some reason.
I mean, heck, the Rams had a game tying touchdown

(38:52):
wiped off the board with a holding penalty and proceeded
to pick up a first and twenty like it was
no problem at all. Now pukin Aku was losing his
mind on the sidelines. He's catching touchdown passes and with
two forty six to go in the game.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
We got a tie football game. This is crazy.

Speaker 6 (39:06):
I saw somebody said that they were like fifty points
ahead in their fantasy championship game and all they have
to do is go against Poka Nakua and it should
be okay for them.

Speaker 5 (39:16):
So, oh no, I'm afraid I have some bad news.
Kirk Cousins almost threw a pick. I mean the last
two pass attempts that Kirk Cousins has thrown, he has
tried to throw an interception. I mean, there is Jared
Versus eating the right tackle for lunch. The left side

(39:38):
of the defensive line for the Rams is just tearing up.
Who is at turner for the Rams? Just tearing up
the left side of the of the Falcons offensive line.
They're gonna end up winning this game, aren't they. The
Rams are gonna come back and win this game.

Speaker 6 (39:53):
Yeah, you're way ahead of me, but you're right. That
ball just kind of fluttered out there. They could have
usually picked that one off. This is Rams are gonna
pull this off. And we all ready you giving the
game to Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (40:05):
Atlanta though, finds their best target, Kyle Pitts for a
first down, so they're staying alive. But nothing has looked
easy so far for Atlanta offensively. And you know, you
have a pick six in this game. You have a
blocked field goal that was taken back for a touchdown.
It's almost as if I'm not trying to open up
a little can of worms here in our final minute

(40:27):
of hour number one.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
But it's almost if Arnie.

Speaker 5 (40:30):
The NFL has said, all right, we know there's a
lot of mid games that happened in week seventeen, and
there's not a lot of big time matchups in week eighteen,
So how about some primetime thrillers to wrap up Sunday
and Monday night.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
Right that it's a little gift to us. I consider
this a present.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
It is that it was a good one.

Speaker 6 (40:48):
Beca at halftime, I wonder how many people turned off
their TVs.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
From this game.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Well, you tried too in the middle of the show.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
I did only because the Knicks and Arizona were playing,
you know.

Speaker 5 (40:56):
Come on, well, I'm ready for your live updates on that. Okay,
when we come back, we are guest free the rest
of the way, so we'll be rolling through your tweets,
your thoughts, your texts, your takes. And also we've got
to figure out all the playoff matchups, because as much
as there isn't on the line this weekend, there's a
ton of intriguing matchups and we'll break them down next
