pointing as many fingers as we want to at any quarterbacks,
(00:51):
any coaches we want. We are not the Chicago Bears.
We will point fingers wherever we want. And if you
don't like it, that's tough. On a pointing to you,
Mike Harmon, that is on you. If you don't like it.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
You were supposed to bring three cokes and a bag
of chicken. You brought nothing. You were supposed to bring
three cokes in a bag of chicken. That's your line
from the other night. I'm bringing three cokes and a
bag of chicken Thursday night. You came in say that
there's no chicken and there's no cokes. I had to
go buy three cokes at the liquor store.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Did you buy one for me? No, because you didn't
bring any chicken. You brought nothing. No, I didn't brought
nothing to the table. You said, you said, I'm gonna
bring hey Thursday night. Yeah, yeah, the game. Yeah, I'm
gonna bring in a bag of chicken and three cokes. Okay, great,
I don't remember. I don't remember that you said they
having to do with Thursday night. Hi, shirt can find
it on he can find it. You said it. We
play in the drop of you saying three cokes and
(01:39):
a bag of chicken. You're supposed to bring it?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Jason, you think we were rolling?
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Of course. Well, I know it's probably deleted for system.
Now it's been purged from the system. I think Max
Munsey's home run last night has been purche mars.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Look, it was a fun day once again doing Thursday.
I do a couple of radio things, you know, promoting
the Eye Watcher Flex podcast and of course our show
here on Fox or Radio. Uh, and the Bears being
the big topic of it all, and everybody's like, so
your hometown is burning, and I go, well, yeah, I
(02:10):
mean we played the entirety of the clip yesterday. I
mean a lot was made of Oh it was taking
out of context, like no, no, no, he was very clear
coaching and trying to process said coaching. It wasn't just
the coaching's bad. It's I'm having trouble processing what they're
doing like we did that. It wasn't a no, my
coach sucks, like at no point was that it was.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
I don't know, but he didn't leave it at that
was my point, right, Like he explained where it's a
lot of terminology, it's a lot of it's a lot
of that out And then now today you can get
that clip, you know, miked up and guys, uh and
you know they're not using you right in the game,
guys talking to DJ Moore, he goes, yeah, tell me
about it, belly.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
No.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Meanwhile, someone's over there with a fiddle as everything burns,
and they still say, well we can, and we're not
gonna tell you anything about the Williams situation. Like the
field stuff is interesting only to a point. The rest
of it is all the unknown about the defensive coordinator
who leaves and nobody says goodbye. He resigns, and I
(03:14):
was like, yeah, C and L you know not we
witch you well because of your health reasons. So yeah,
that's where we're at. And now we've got Thursday night
football and the New York Football Giants trying to play
out for their backers.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
I e you, my giant. I'm the only one in
the country that said the Giants would cover. I said
I was getting eleven last night, and right now I'm
just covering. It's seventeen six as the Giants just start
the third quarter. They start the third quarter with a
great defensive stand and then the Niners punt. The Giants
fumble the punt. However, there was a little bit of
(03:49):
interference on the forty nine ers, So the Giants are
gonna take over the foot with the football in forty
nine ers territory down seventeen six. And look, because I
told you how this was going to go last night,
right what we've seen, we'll get to brock Purty in
a second, because I got to scratch my head about
what's being said about brock Purty so far? Was I
told you last night? Why am I the only one
taking the Giants number one? You gotta remember, there's a night.
(04:11):
Football is sloppy. It's always sloppy. Nobody plays great on
Thursday night. It's a short week. You can't do so much,
especially when you're playing a different opponent that you don't
know as well. The game is sloppy. When you get
the intradivisional games, you know your opponent pretty well. We
could maybe there's a little bit more. You're talking about
NFC East, NFC West, Giants the Niners. It's a big,
(04:32):
high profile game, but we knew it was going to
be sloppy. The other thing was the Giants game plan
was going to be keep it close. Let Daniel Jones
start making some plays with his legs. Now the Giants
defense is keeping it close. They had three or four
opportunities to make this an even closer game, but they
couldn't come up with a ball that Rock Party was
going to give them. But Darren Waller, right, yeah, Darren
(04:52):
Waller with you know, if he caught that ball. It's
a seventeen thirteen game. So the Giants are playing well.
I am really surprised though, that they are not letting
Daniel Jones get out in the open some more design
runs and plays room because they can't run the football.
I mean, you're talking about Matt Brido, who is everybody's darling.
As three carries for nine yards, we.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Look from a fantasy perspective, it became me, well, who's
going to get an opportunity? So he became the guy.
But they've had opportunities a lot of third lungs that
they weren't able to get off the field. And then
you have to me, what is one of the worst calls?
You know, we can complain and we talked about it
a lot last week. The fumbling out of the end zone,
and we can fight about that. To where blue in
(05:33):
the face the defender landed with some of his body
weight on the quarterback call is forever the bane of
my existence. Like the ghost runner in baseball. You will
never get me on board with either of those. I
hit a guy, what.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Am I supposed to do?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Flying shoulder tackle like I'm in the WWE and go
flying off to the other side of the ring.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Oh my god, he hits him with the big hammer.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
The thing is you can oh and this is what
because it drives me crazy too, because again I had
to watch the Jets get an apology yesterday because the
biggest penalty of the game on Sunday that flipped the game.
I mean, look, would the Jets have won the game? Well,
instead of going in down eighteen ten at halftime, it
probably would have been a ten to ten tie, right,
that would have been the game. But the Jay they
call a roughing penalty on one of the Jets players
(06:18):
on John Franklin Myers, Oh, we tackled the quarterback too low. Okay,
we need to make sure that that's called. And the
NFL said, oh hey, sorry, we screwed that up.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, here's your letter on official NFL letter head.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
And I hate for your record. And I hate this
because if your idea and your aim ultimate aim is
to protect the quarterback, right, those are plays that do
not need to be adjudicated like that in that moment.
They do not need to be That's a play where hey,
we can look at all the questionable plays in the
(06:51):
game after and go, that's an illegal hit. That's a
fine for that player, right that if you want to
do you really want to do it, you want to
stop a guy. Hey, that's a fine for that play.
And it's you know, twenty five grand whatever it was
ken at the quarterback that way. Now, if you see
a helmet to helmet, you see something that's obviously yes,
you can call that. But a play like that where
it's oh, the defender falls on the quarterback and you
(07:12):
need to look at it and go did he have
the ability to get away? Did he fall him on purpose?
Was this something where we just fell? Was this natural physics?
Or was this Hey he was blocked into the quarterback
where he's pushed down. Of course he tackled the guy,
but you know below below the waist. Those are things
you do not need to look at it and say
I need to throw that flag at this moment, because
you're your aim is to keep the quarterbacks healthy. And
(07:33):
if you find it and you look at it in
the days after, then you can easily say, hey, look
we found this, this this this it was illegal and
here's a fine, and okay, all right, and it's much
less controversial and you're not you're not taking wins away
from teams. You're not doing that more. I don't know
why they don't do it that way, but the referees
(07:54):
feel the need. I gotta throw the flag on this,
and it's why, you know, that's something we take care
of that next week, take care or that. It's always
easier to to what to ask for forgiveness and to
ask for form.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
It sure.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
So if you're saying, hey, after this, all right, at
the end, you're asking for you're asking for forgiven. All right, Hey,
wait a minute, you did this, you hit him, here's
your penalty, rather than right in the moment, Oh no, no,
we got to throw the flag. I hate I always
hated that.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, it's letter spirit of the law, down distance, all
of those things that come into play. And when when
you look at that particular play, I mean that led
to a McCaffrey touchdown. Fantasy owners celebrated. But there was
gonna be a field goal, right, It was going to
be a field goal attempt or a fourth down and short.
(08:39):
All right, let's see if they bring the offense back
out instead. You change the game. Now that the Giants
do get a field goal going into half. It all
and that's all fine, and good. But you know when
you look at it, you're you're changing the complexion of
the game on something that it's not. He didn't Charles
Martin the guy there, you go to go in our
(08:59):
foots off, you throw a guy down. This was Hey,
I'm a three hundred pound man. I can only roll
my body away from the guys so much as I
try to bring him down.
Speaker 1 (09:12):

because we just said that Matt Brita Giants can't run
(09:34):
the football, blah blah, don't look now, but we got
a game in San Francisco. The Giants get in the
end zone, A questionable pass interference call puts the Giants
on the eleven and Matt Brida with a down hill
physical run, you're a ven yards out, pulling a couple
of guys into the end Matt Brida running like it's
(09:54):
twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
He pulls a couple of guys into the end zone
with him. The Giants go for two and Daniel Jones
is sacked. But it is now a seventeen to twelve
game in the middle of the third quarter, and suddenly, hey,
look who's covering.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
But we were just talking about the call of the
weight of a defender on the quarterback, that pass interference
call to say that that was suspect that best is
being kind right where the balls where the defender's going
was the great receiver kind of pushes him by him
(10:30):
like all of that. But it sets up the first
in goal, you know, inside the ten, and there you
go your guy Brita with the eight yard touchdown run,
making it a game my giants. It's a win that
helps him my long term cause I just didn't think
you'd get it tonight.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Well we still have it. But here's where we are
right now, because you're twelve midway through the third Yeah,
cause you and I were talking about a little before
we went on air of you know, Thursdays making for
range bedfellows and also teams trying to figure out where
they are short and long term for the forty nine ers,
how much were you going to see Elijah Mitchell with
Brandon Ayuk out?
Speaker 3 (11:10):
How much the offense would change complexion moving forward at
least for this game on the short week. And for
the Giants, could they carry any kind of momentum after
that dramatic comeback against well, let's call them plucky because
they've come out to play.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Don't call them plucky. They don't know what that means.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Okay, fair point, all right, but the Cardinals have given
you two good efforts. Yeah right, both losses as expected,
but you're at least having to work.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
To beat them.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Hey, guys, just want to say another great noble effort. Right,
we didn't win, but hey, what's that poster up there?
It's like a major.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
League says moral victory up there, coach.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Instead of major league. When they took they took a
piece off for the oh the puzzle. Yeah, what they
do is every time they lose, they take a piece off.
It reveals Caleb Williams in a in a Giant Cardinals
jersey jot mosaic of Caleb Williams. We take we take
another piece off the Caleb Williams Puzzle. That's another another
fourteen more losses and hell, we got it.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
And then they're going off and then it's got a
picture of the Bear's logo.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
It's like, what's that?
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
So this is where we are right now, my giants.
I'm telling you seventeen twelve giants, I told you, I
told you I'm a genius. I'm a genius. Uh, seventeen twelve,
ten minutes to go in the third quarter on Thursday
night football off. More on this game, uh coming up
next because we got more stuff on the Bears. What
happened today with them is insane. We have a huge
injury for the Dallas Cowboys to break down. But let
(12:40):
me let me, let me, let me, let me just
say this. Let me just say this. Let me just
let me let me just say this. The Jots suck. Stop.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Wow, you just jumped. I mean, he had a whole
monologue in music bed.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Just sorry, I took the words out of your mouth. Sorry,
just stop for for a second, just for a second.
If the Giant to lose, their season goes down the tubes,
maybe the Jets get Daniel Jones. I'm saying, maybe I
have to say, you know, I'm an Maybe maybe maybe
whant to get out of the forty million dollars you die.
I don't know. Maybe maybe I'm gonna link I'm gonna
(13:12):
link every quarterback to the Jets. Now you are trying
in the next month and a half, every quarterback. Every
time a quarterback throws an incomplete pass, I'm gonna link
him to the Jets. Oh, that's all he missed. That
receiver was wide up. You know, the Jets could trade
for him in about three or four weeks. You know,
a little Benn work on his mechanics, Hacket can work. Wonders, Jason,
your desperation is unmatched. Well, but you know I lost
(13:35):
Rogers after four plays.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Man, Yeah, seventy five seconds.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
He's been yelling, keep hope alive in here seventy five seconds.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Alex ty Shirt.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
I will give you ten dollars. You could tell me
what either lead singer.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
Of this band, John Stamos, right, one, very good for
another ten dollars. I think the female voice, Uh huh,
Shirley Temple.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Yes, Wow, that's pretty good. Thank you. It was Shirley
Temple late Night. Yeah, that's right. Twenty dollars, twenty dollars.
That's good. There we go.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, the name of the band is the Hunt.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
The name of the band is the Staymos Temple Pilots.
That stay of the band. Can you imagine stay Moos
Temple Pilots. I just made that up. Good, pretty good.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
I should have done that, like Berman DJ.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Not an interstate love song, but still the gypsy from
the Staymos Temple Pilots Stamos waiting on a Sunday after nurse.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Okay, when he's done.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
With the latest Beach Boys tour, we do have to
figure out how to get it.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
He's still on that tour.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
He's been drumming whenever he hasn't had.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
It's like nineteen eighty eight. He has been on that tour.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
So he goes and he acts and does whatever movies
that he does. Now that Fuller House is done, and
then he's back on the road with the Beach Boys.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
I don't have to do Fullest House at some point,
but at some point, I mean that's the that's the
last thing. Fullest, then super fullest, uber fullest, full oversaturated,
fullest full Fuller, Steve Fuller Fullest.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
This is Steve and it's no wonder.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Uh what does John Cusack have in common with this
NFL game going on right now?
Speaker 3 (15:22):
He begged for tickets even though he'd been cheering for
the other team in town all along.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
No, that's a good guess. Nothing to do with him
on the internet today too. If I saw his name
trend but it's one of those things where he got
into a bunch of politics. Yeah, but way I see
celebrities trending now it's I don't have the patience to
go through everything to go because I can't tell.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
If it's on your young it's about his is he hotter?
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Oh yeah, yeah, let me but I can't go through.
I'm sitting here going okay. If it takes me too
many scrolls to find out exactly what this is about,
I'm done. I'm not gonna look out. I'm not gonna do.
What do you got for Frostburg?
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Is it party?
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Missing his wide receivers from gross pointank that's pretty good.
That's pretty good. Jay No John Cusack star of twenty
twelve score of this game.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
There's a movie I didn't see?
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:13):
No, hey, all o La got the crap beat out
of it in twenty twelve. Man the Capitol Records Building
was like flying around. Oh yeah, it was insane.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Field more peace and love celebrations for Ringo on his birthday.
Field goal from the Niners has made it a twenty
to twelve game right now. Third quarter for the Niners
over the Giants, and I gotta tell you, I am
really surprised at the halftime reaction during the game on
Amazon Prime and what I've seen on social media from
(16:42):
analysts breaking down brock Perty's play. Yes, he threw a
couple of bad passes in the first half that should
have been picked off.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Right, Okay, No, I get that, I get that. But
the Niners still put seventeen points on the board in
the first half and Perty threw a touchdown and threw
for a buck fifty seven, right like that, that's like
undisputed stuff. I mean, it's not like Perty since he
took over, has been someone that's, hey, I'm throwing for
four touchdowns a week. No, he's not that guy. He's
a guy that moves a team, will throw for a
(17:10):
couple of touchdowns, maybe run for one. He is in
an upper level mid quarterback. That's kind of how he is.
He's not he's an upper level mid quarterback, and his
game tonight is pretty much in line with everything he's done. Oh,
brock Perty's killing him and maybe Sam Darnold's gonna play.
And I'm like, we're really out of control with quarterbacks, man,
because pretty soon it's gonna be you know, Mahomes is
(17:31):
no good. They gotta tra Kitchie's gotta make a trade.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Seventeen points against the Jaguar. Gotta move on for Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Man. Come on, two weeks in a row, less than
twenty days.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
You can't do that.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
You lose the first week, score seventeen against the job
That's where we're at right now. It's a little too
insane about we got to get an upgrade of quarterback
because I would take I would take a buck fifty
seven and a touchdown for my quarterback. I would take
that for a game for Zach Wilson. But I would
take that in the first half. And it's not he
didn't throw a pick, right, What do people want? They're
on pace for thirty four points? What more to people want?
(18:01):
It's like for quarterbacks. I get it when when we
break down guys like Justin Fields and Deshaun Watson and look,
we'll talk about these players and Josh Allen. I get
that it's hey, okay, if you don't play well, we
want more. But it's not like he wasn't playing well.
It's not like they have an eleven point lead at halftime. Uh.
I fail to see the problem with with with with
with brock Purty. Brock Purty is an upper level mid
(18:24):
That's kind of what he is. And he's been doing
that since he came into the league, and that's what
he's doing right now.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
It's been winning football right complete at a high percentage.
I mean, I guess if you're going to break something
down and try to knock it, you'd say, okay. His
completion percentage wasn't in par with what we've seen from
his starts thus far. And yes, there were a couple
of balls that could have been intercepted. Guess what they weren't.
Just like a lot of other quarterbacks, we can go
(18:50):
game tape to game tape and we want to do that.
Unfortunately for him, it's a standalone game and it's that
build up thing, right. It's like everybody that's gonna have
their poison and pen out on Saturday night when Colorado
gets drum by Oregon Sorr. I just saw another Dion
Sanders commercial, So it prompted the comparison with Rock Perdy.
People have been waiting for some huge fall from Grace
(19:13):
because he was mister irrelevant. So it was the build
him up because look at the record, look at what
they're doing.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
He's a hero.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
But as soon as he doesn't have a dominant half,
all of a sudden, it's the all right, there's the
little problems that could make the forty nine ers vulnerable.
You know, the giants eat defense in the first half.
I'll give him credit. They did. They did some good things, right,
They forced some third longs, and then guess what they did.
(19:41):
They gave up those third longs. Right, you had that
great sixty yard punt that change field position. Giants force
a third long, guess what, they picked it up. And
then later in the drive they had another third and
I think it was twelve and they picked that up too.
It's not always going to be poetry. It's not always
(20:01):
gonna be sunshine, lollipops and rabols. The giants are supposed
to be good. I don't know if anybody got that
memo along the way. As bad as that game one was,
that's part of a seventeen act play that you're expecting
them to be better, right, You're expecting them to be
competitive and be in the playoff mix when we get
to season's end. So to suddenly throw him out after
(20:26):
what wasn't a thirty point half, I.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Mean, what do you want him to do?
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Why?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
It's insane?
Speaker 2 (20:31):
I mean, is that Spider Man. Look at Spider Mass
Spider Mans.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
But we are out of We're two out of control
with blaming quarterbacks now because it's become so easy. Oh,
Deshaun Watson, he stinks. Kenny Pickett, he stinks. Yes, we've
seen something, but here's Brock pretty always taking no, no, no,
it's not why they should have had He almost got
picked off three times. I mean really, sometimes it's there's
guys just can't win, and it's like rock Perty's going from, Hey,
(20:56):
this guy could be the MVP in one half because
he threw a couple of bad pass You might want
to see Sam Arnald at some point. Sam Donald's going
to be in this game.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Touchdowns on Sundays, So, I mean everybody is up at arms.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Just take it easy. It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Big NFL News Today, the Cowboys is gonna be without
one of their best players for the rest of the season.
Travon Diggs, one of the top five seven cornerbacks in
the NFL, tears his ACL and mcl in practice he
has done for the season. And this is a big
blow for the Cowboys. I got a silver lining for Dallas,
but this is a big blow because not only is
(21:38):
Digs a great player, but he's he's the vocal leader
of that team. He gives them their attitude as great
as Michael Parsons is. And look, Michaeh. Parsons does a
lot of things, and look how dominant he is.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
He's going to become a tight end all the time.
He might play quarterback if tax ever can't tell.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
But Diggs is the guy that gives that secondary and
that defense attitude. And when you're missing a talented player, yes,
maybe you can scheme around with the next man up,
but when you're missing a guy who's who's that much
of a leader and gives you that much of an attitude.
It's a huge deal. It's a huge deal for the
Cowboys missing him. Now. They're really talented, so they should
be able to move around this a little bit. But yeah,
(22:17):
they're gonna miss him in the short term as they
figure out. Good. Look, they're talented all up and down right.
This roster is incredibly good. But that's gonna be the
thing is who's gonna step up leadership wise. I don't
think this is something that's gonna hurt them long term,
but this week, the next couple weeks till they figure
out how are we gonna cover for him being out?
It's gonna be a bit of a thing for them.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Get to attack on an island. Yeah, as he goes down, right,
because that's when one of the staples is that it's
the all right that side of the field.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
We're feeling pretty good.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Now we can we can cheat and do everything over here,
maybe be a bit more aggressive in the pass rush,
so we'll see how they adjust. You also had an
injury on the offensive line, your center with a hamstring
injury that you know they're gonna take a look at that,
but that might be serious as well. Remember when we
had Frederick a few years back, when he retired suddenly
(23:06):
because of illness. How that sent everything into shambles. And
wouldn't say it's to the same level, but you're are
talking about a Pro Bowl center, so all of a sudden,
that maybe throws a little wrench into things as well.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Now here's the sunny side for the Cowboy Give me
something you haven't heard all the sunny side. I get
the sunny side for the Cowboys. A silver lining for this.
The Cowboys defense is still going to be really good, right.
You see the level they're playing out front seven ridiculous, right,
But Diggs is a big, high profile player. Is not
a lot of times, not a lot of times when
a defensive back out for the year is you're a
(23:39):
big NFL headline of the day. But it is for
the Dallas Cowboys. It is for Trevon Diggs. He has
become He became a much more consistent player last year.
He was kind of a boomer bust guy two years
ago with all the turnovers. Not as many last year.
But he's become much more consistent. But you're still missing
a big guy the Dallas Cowboy defense. In the next
week and a half or two is going to settle
(24:00):
and you watch what happens. Here's the silver lining for
the Cowboys. They're still going to dominate. And watch the
Micah Parsons for MVP campaign just explode on social media
on the daytime talk shows, nighttime shows, radio shows, and
we're telling you right here first like we always do
because the name of the show should be ahead of
the curve with Jason Smith and Mike Harmon because we are.
(24:23):
But we're got to watch the run for Micah Parsons
NFL MVP and it's gonna take over. Oh I could
say something that's completely Micah Parsons needs to be the MVP.
Am I getting clicks on my But you watch you
watch the Cowboys defense playing, well, this is Parsons time.
He's already getting. You can tell he's getting. He's not
(24:43):
only he's always gotten the do from NFL fans and
and and the inside football fans and the players know.
But this will be that year where he kind of
goes mainstream. He already is making headlines, talking on his podcast,
becoming much more visible to the average fan. He's maybe,
but you watch the Micah Parsons for MVP train takeoff.
(25:05):
When this Cowboys defense continues to roll, it's gonna be well,
you could be my hope looking about Micah Park. Trust me,
trust me, trust me, you just watch that and it's
gonna be at the hype and it's already gonna be
leaving the station and gonna be gone in the next couple
of weeks. Trust me.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
I thought I saw the stat that in one on
one situations he's winning like sixty three percent of the
time or some ridiculous number like that.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
And and even with doubles, uh, that he's getting home
and creating chaos. So you know, you start building that narrative, right,
you start building it up, you've got the star and
especially if they continue to show out. Now, the deal
with Diggs, you know, in the secondary does create a
little bit of a wrinkle. But we've watched after a
(25:50):
big shutout win over the Giants, what do you do
a bunch of graphics and well, Dak didn't have to
do anything. Week two, Dak had an okay game, fine game,
completed a lot of passes, but was it a sexy
overall stat No. If you were watching the game, you're like, oh,
he's having a great game. Right, he's hitting all the marks,
(26:11):
he's finding guys in stride, he's playing in a rhythm.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
This is great.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
After the game, you're like, if you didn't watch it,
you're like pedestrian stats. Yeah, right, which means opportunity for
Micah Parsons and the defense. Right. If you can just
have that one highlight of a Bowl rush per game,
the one sack, the one he's chasing down a quarterback
to the edge, all of that, it starts to build
and grind some momentum. And if the Cowboys are who
(26:38):
everybody thinks they are, then yeah, you're winning a lot
of games because you already had a lot of eyeballs
on you because Jerry's always giving you. The brand is
so huge. So for him, it's that opportunity next level.
And we're always trying to talk about someone who is
at a quarterback for the award and he's gonna be
the guy. And if he plays tight end like Travis
Hunter both ways and knowledge stars a touchdown or two,
(27:02):
suddenly he's vrable sneaking out of a formation.
Speaker 1 (27:05):

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Hey you got my Earth Winding Fire tickets? Nicely done,
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best friend.
His name, Ms. Mike Harmon. You want to explain to
everybody what that is? I gotta explain to millennials what
I can't go all. I explained to millennials and Generation
Ze what fast times the Ridgemont High was. Wow, that's okay,
(28:11):
that's a long way. I'm going to talk to Jen
why about what that is?
Speaker 3 (28:15):
That's a fantastic it's just old day af Yeah, but
think about it, right, you can do one of those
big slide shows like they did at the end of
a winning time to show you what happened to all
the people that were in there. Hey, they don't be
get big stars.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Hey, we decided to end the show, and so let's
tell you what happened to everybody, even though we didn't
really play the whole story you wanted to, which was
the next year the Lakers and the Celtics played for
the title. But here's what happened everybody. Yeah, here it
is right now, Giants and the Niners. Early in the
fourth quarter. Another field goal by San Francisco. They have
a twenty three to twelve lead. My Giants barely covering,
(28:52):
uh getting eleven. But it is early in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Right now, it's a push shit, barely covering, They're barely covered.
You're really getting liberal with your covering, barely barely covering.
It's just like when when the way the term covering
has been kind of obliterated from what it once meant
barely cover. What's amount of time we talked about covering
and beating the spread now we just used them interchangeably.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
The spread was ten, but that's a whole nother story. Well,
I saw it.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
I had a lot of plays ten and a half
eleven I had when when I when we did we
we need to pick last? No, no, no, it was
eleven when I had it last night. When I used
to have Bino Cook on the show on all night on,
he asking the people who pay it?
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Now?
Speaker 1 (29:32):
He just playing a lendo who be Bino Cook was
h Beano Cook was the best. And we would always
pick college football games against each other, and he would
always say, whatever the point spread is in the USA
today on Thursday is the spread we use. And I'm like,
but what if it changes by Saturday? Being whatever is
in Thursday, I have the USA today right here.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
That's what we're going to us Like, okay, well he
just did his show prep very early in the weeknd.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
What's all that meant? And I won because I was
getting thirdy.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
I work on the opening line before there's any information
comes out during the week.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yeah, but you got at thirteen, But the spread at
the beginning of the game was nine. If I go
to Vegas and I get it at thirteen, I don't
lose up. But I said, okay, you're right, You're right.
Here's eleven point lead for the Giants, for the forty
nine ers over the Giants right now, early in the
fourth quarter. Now, I meanwhile, we have more today on
Deshaun Watson. We have more on Justin Fields. But let's
(30:26):
deal with Watson here for a second, because today was
a day where you can you can categorize this as
do as I say, not as I do. Deshaun Watson
met the media, look and we told you how bad
he looked, and we told you he was washed. And
now as this week has gone by, you've seen people saying, yeah, yeah,
de Shaun Watson's really not playing very well, getting a
lot of criticism.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
We did that after a winning week, and today he
gave a very succinct good answer when he was asked
about the criticism as to how he's playing so far
this season.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
It's impossible not to see it unless I just turn
off my phone completely, you know, turn off the TV completely.
But you know, it comes with the territory, It comes
with the status and the standard that people hold me
again hold me too. So you know, I don't look
at it as anything bad. I don't look at it
as anything personal, you know, as part of the game,
as part of my level, and it's part of you know.
I look at it as people hold.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Me to the center.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
So I have to, you know, make sure I play
to that center. And if I'm not, then I have
to continue to find ways to get better. So you know,
I don't take it personally. I don't get in my
feelings about it. It just, you know, continue to just
keep going and keep learning and keep working eachit every day.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Okay, So what do you say? I don't care about it.
It's hard to not listen to it, but I keep
working to get better every day. I don't care. This
is something happens, It's part of the game. It doesn't
matter after this happens. Social media is a blaze with
Deshaun Watson blocking people on Twitter who have been critical
of him, including I think pft a Pro football a
(31:55):
Talk account got blocked and it's all over. Hey, I
got blocked by Deshaun Watson. He says, I don't care,
but I'll go on a block party and I will
block you. So do you really care? Do you not?
Are you just giving a slip service? I look at
Watson and I see today where he says I don't
really care about it. But then oh, I'm gonna block people,
and I go, you know what, good luck Jimmy Haslam,
(32:18):
good luck Cleveland. This is the same guy. He hasn't changed.
You're sitting You're worried about a guy who's not honest,
he's not genuine, is he motivated? Does he care? You
got him? Congratulations, you own it. Good luck the next
four years with a guy who's watched it says I
don't care about criticism, but I'm gonna go on social
media to start blocking people.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
It's also the next step. After Monday night into Tuesday,
there were a lot of reports that people think they
had sussed out a burner account standing for him and
going after the offensive line play and some of the
failures of the team in that.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Loss to Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
So you've got that swirling in the background as well.
So yeah, for Deshaun Watson, I saw some the local
news uh kind of hackaing comments. You know, as you said,
you've brought up karma a bunch talking about the deal
with the uh oh, the proverbial devil that Haslam is
made and now they have to stew in it because
(33:13):
you don't have a lot of flexibility going forward.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Browns fans are gonna find out the only worst thing
than not having a franchise quarterback is being locked into
a bad one for a long time because he's the
same guy. Good luck. More craziness from everybody's favorite Bears quarterback,
