Jason and Mike open the show sharing their excitement for the new Top Gun movie, as well as reacting to the midseason finale of Better Call Saul. Klay Thompson has bounced back for the Warriors tonight after an abysmal performance in Game 4. Jason also believes the Raiders will become the epicenter of the NFL if they end up signing Colin Kaepernick, and Zion looks to be staying with the Pelicans for the foreseeable future.

I've been seeing a little uh behind the scenes vignettes
over the course of the day, making their way into

gone on. I've tried to get a little extra on
my nap, but with the try, it also trying to
get my work done, you know, during the day and
get the girls around and what they need to do.
Can't exactly take the pain meds, so sleep. It's not

Did you watch today? Oh? Yeah, you have Quo streaming
all over today. Watch it for a while, because, because

Zoe says to me, because you need to know what happened,
like you need to get caught up on it, because
you forget how it ended, right like like like you
do with streaming shows, like oh, how did the last
season end of the Wilds? Or how did the last
season ended? I gotta go back and watch how did
Barry end? Again? And we have to watch the last
episode of the last how did Better Call Solid? And
it's like you forgot how Top Gun ended? And I'm like, yes,

rant who sent it to him, but he came out
like a house of fire, nineteen points in the first half,
seven and eleven, shooting five of eight from three point range, swagger,
defensive intensity, you name it, you got it, and the
Warriors looking to dispatch and dispose of the Dallas Mavericks. Look,
I wouldn't call myself a hero. I don't know that

I would use those words when it comes to Clay Thompson.
I don't know that, you know, the chosen one. I
didn't know that I would use those words. I think
I think words like that are used for uh, you know,
people who do more important things. But you know, you
say hero. Uh. And now Warriors and their fans owe me,
you know, for you know they could hate me from
my Steph Curry system quarterback take. But you know what

clearly uh inspiring Clay Thompson I did last night by
saying the Warriors have a Klay Thompson problem. He's not
dynamic anymore. He's hitting the wall. He is averaging less
points per game per round because he's not the same
dynamic player. He's played too many minutes coming back from
injury after two years, and he's just not the same player.
And he's not getting his shots. And they have an issue,

and he should come off the bench and he should
play less minutes in Jordan Pool should be in the
starting lineup. Clay Thompson using that as motivation. As you
said nineteen in the first half tonight, You're welcome Warriors.
You're welcome. I'm getting you to the NBA Finals. You're welcome,
k n b R. I'm really I'm ready for my
interview anytime, because now I I have I have done

more for the Warriors than anybody who's not on the
court tonight. I've done more. I've done more than Steve
Kurt tonight for the team because Steve Kurt, you know,
like Steve Kirk could have done some things he didn't.
I did some things I let. I was the pat
Riley who came up to Magic Johnson before the game
against the Celtics and said, hey, sixty three, what's that
the vote for Larry Bird Rookie of the Year over you?

It's funny you bring in winning time at the end, uh,
and I'll start from there. I did my normal spot
with my friends in Baltimore, and they brought up some
of the inaccuracies on the schedule and who they beat,
and I said, I was six years old. I was.

I was worried about, you know, playing with my my
action figures and whether I was going to get another
Batman or Robin Doll. I wasn't worried. I wasn't worried
about the you know, schedule and how the the Lakers
were blowing through pep on on on on on on
on on on on on a Batman nice. It's too

bad I don't have all those action figures like uh
Steve Carell had in the forty year old version with
the original boxes at all. But project him, Oh, these
are Star Wars original figurines, all still in the path.
Could just look, it's chewy. Uh look, it's so so
we start there and and wasn't really three. I don't know,

but it sounds good. But the the Warriors clearly have
someone up there that's feeding them information. There's people feeding
information around the hallways at Fox Sports Radio to give
good analysis and say, hey, this was pretty good. You'd
like this, uh and give it a spin, you know,
those kind of things that happens. I mean, that's just

the way it works. And and right now for the Warriors,
riding high off of your hot take regarding the imminent
demise of Clay Thompson, Uh, he leads the team Steph
Curry just five points. He's got an ankle slash foot
issue that's going on. You had Draymond Green go up
for a dunk where he was met by the bottom

of the rim and some defense. His arm has been wrapped.
He's been on the court since, but two injuries that
we also need to make note of as we watch
this game unfold into the second half. But a great
job by the Warriors also defensively of forcing the ball
out of Lucas hands and when he does have the
ball and trying to make plays. He's two of twelve

and he's looked ratic. He's missed a couple of easy shots.
Uh in the interior. Uh. And right now it's gonna
take more than just Spencer Dinwitti with his seventeen to
save him. Do you think the Warriors would give me
a player's ring or I get like a PR department ring,
like the ring they get to the people that work
for the team. You know what I think that you get.
I think it's gonna be like to give away. They're

gonna do a Dodger Stadium later this second half of
the season. I don't know if you sup they're gonna
give away uh Championship ring replicas. Okay, but they're gonna
be blind box. So you have no idea which one
you get. So you might get twenty, you might get
one of the titles of the Steve Garvey and Tommy
lasord Era. Do you get one for for when you

lost to the Astros? Since they really won the Worlds here?
You know what, they really should make one even bigger.
That should be Wait what what what's in the big box?
Well that's the special one. Yeah, everybody, I I don't
want to replica right how, I mean a real ring
I get If I get the Warriors to the finals,
I've done again more than anybody. That's anybody else besides
the players on the court. Buddy, they were the fourth

favorite to get to these doesn't matter. Hey, I've gotta
but I've got to bring it back to reality because
I look on my Twitter timeline and people are buying
the trash that the Warriors themselves have been spewing. Nobody
gave him a chance. They were down and blah blah blah.
It's like, no, just because as a collective we were

dumb and thought that the Nets and Lakers could actually
be good doesn't take away from the fact that the
betting market said that the Warriors are one of the
best teams in the NBA and are probably going to
be in a position to do exactly what they're doing
right now. So you get some credit, especially for Klay Thompson,
that's the leader tonight. I don't know what that gets you, though.

I mean, I'd probably have a limited edition Klay Thompson
card that I could bestow upon you on behalf of
the show and just say, hey, good job by you.
To have to have meaning in an otherwise chaotic world.
But I mean inter that or I've got a couple
of cool Joker cards or a sticker of bane. Nobody

believed we could do it. Yeah, you had the third
best record in the league this year. Yeah, but nobody
believed we could do You were eleven to one going
at all. No, no, no, but yeah, still I look
at the record and it was pretty good. No, it
doesn't matter. We need this as motivation. We need to say,
you know, that's actually that personally. Yeah, that's become such
the crutch for every team to go to, is that, Hey,

nobody believed in us. What do you mean nobody that
that's that's a completely false storyline. Who is not unbelieved
in you all the way? Who is said you're gonna lose,
You're gonna lose, You're gonna lose you. You might you
might have had a couple of guys in the local
market that we're disbelievers. Why right, because you got you
gotta have a little bit of contentiousness. Not everybody could
drink the cool, particularly the media rights. No, but I'm

not Larry Beale, Probably not Tom Tolbert. I'm just going Larry.

just for a second, on this series, this is going
exactly how we said it was going to go. The
Warriors were gonna be too much, they were going to

score too much. Luca was going to be really good
and they're shutting him down tonight and I can't believe
it's only seventeen points when he's got six. But in
the end, this is not a great Mavericks team. And
Jalen Brunson is okay, He's gonna be far overpaid in
the off season. Spencer Dinwood, he is okay, but this
is not a great roster, and this is how the
series probably should have gone. And we still on the
(12:32):
second half to go, and you never know, Luca could
get hot, but so far that nothing has happened. That's
not gone according to a we said it was gonna go,
and I really can't believe there's a lot of derivation
from that anywhere. This was how it should be because
the Warriors this year, this invention, this incarnation of the team,
just has too much for the Dallas Mavericks. No I
should There's just too many guys, uh, defensively right to

wear him out, but also just from a scoring perspective,
trying to keep up right, You're having a huge night
from Clay He's got nineteen, Pool's got twelve, and you
really haven't gotten a ton else from your starters at
this point, and you're wondering, you know, Steph Curry, what's
the what's the wear and tear on the foot and leg?

Gonna be here going forward? Just one of four from
the field in the first half. Draymond's got ten. He
was came out firing and on the radio call, it
was why is Draymond shooting again? Very aggressive? The other
being aggressive from the three point arc which has been
the calling card of the Mavericks. There nine of twenty three,
which isn't awful on the grand scheme of things, but

Warriors matching him a little better efficiency nine of nineteen
thus far. Uh So it's I hope we get a
better second half. I'm not overly optimistic that we do,

I saw something that said they liked him in Itally,
they did not like the movie. And as we come
define more and more films based on Stephen King, stuff

The Outsider was fantastic. That's the last great thing that

happens to that was. Oh my god, that was such
a terrific mini series. I was just gonna say, go
all the way back to show no no, no, no, no,
go back a little bit more recent and I'm telling
you outside it was terrific. I mean, the book was
the book was great, that the series was terrific. Have
to go back to see this is philipbusting because this
game sucks. Uh yeah, well, at least we have a
little bit of upset. Luka done because after Clay Thompson

hit a three at the last time out to give
the Warriors a seventy four three lead early in the
third quarter, Luka dont went off the court. He kicked
that chair. He sat down in really hard with his
right foot. I'm so mad, I'm gonna kick He's questionable
to return. Just kidding. No, he's on the court. He's
on the court. He's on the court. Wasn't joke, which

is we immediately we didn't let it live. He didn't
let it have any breath. Uh No, it's it's really been,
uh a terrible effort by the Mavericks. Uh just being
run run on on both ends of the court, right
and settling from some really bad shots. They had a
little iceo on a Steve Kerr during a time out

in the first half, because look, you guys are really
hustled out defense. They made a couple of circus threes.
But I love the effort. It's gonna be great. Keep
doing what you're doing. Uh so yeah, so seventies six
fifty four Clay Thompson with twenty two. Uh listen, I'll
send my ring size out because I'm gonna get a
ring no matter what. As they go to the finals,

but if they win, well I'll tell you I get
that ring because I clearly motivated Clay Thompson with my
comments last night that they have a Clay Thompson problem,
and here he is. What the one game of series
Klay Thompson shows up, right, Hey, I'll show up in
the clincher every series. Right, I'm gonna take some time
and be bad up until then, but I'll show up
for the clincher. Maybe that's the new Clay Thompson. You know,
that's bad strategy that people think that series. That's the

last thing you remember, that's right. Oh man, I think
he's really I think he's really really good. Look what
he did in that close out that. Yeah, that's that's
not a bad I'm gonna show up in the last
game and that's gonna do it. Okay. I kind of
like that, Mike. I kind of think it's been the
last I think that's a pretty good strategy. That's because Stanza,
un tell your good one liner and get the hell out.

Leave him laughing, everybody leave him laughing. Uh so again
speaking of laughers. Yeah, Warriors by twenty one over the
MAVs right now, uh now by twenty four with nine
minutes ago in the third quarter. It looks like the
Warriors are just a few minutes away from the NBA Finals. Now,
other big news in the NBA today, uh Zion Williams.

And this is the best possible news you could get
that Zion Williamson has been cleared to return. He doesn't
have any more limitations. He is ready to come back
and he can begin preparations for this coming season now,
whether it's in New Orleans or someplace else. He signs
the maximum. Let's focus on how big a story this
is because of all the stars we talk about in
(20:47):
the NBA, right, all the guys we spend time talking
about in the playoffs. If he comes back and he
is healthy, and I realized I just said, you know,
three ifs. But with with Zion Williamson has played eighty
five games and three years. You gotta say, if if
he comes back and he is healthy, that's an if
in an end, then he will be in short order
(21:07):
the biggest star in the NBA, bar none. All right.
He has the IT factor that none of the other
young stars in the league has. And and a lot
of stars have great at factors, right they all Jayson
Tatum's got a great AT factor, so does Yaza. None
of them have that, and you can't quantify it. But
the fascination with Williamson, with his size and what he does,
(21:30):
he would be the biggest star in the game right away.
He'd be the Shaquille O'Neal twenty years later. He just
has that fascination about him. We're frustrated with the old
guard of Lebron and k D and Harden and Kyrie
and guys who show up when they feel like it
and and and you know, it's it's drama and it's
questions and they're on TV every day, and you know what,
(21:52):
we're kind of we're kind of done with them. The
new stars are really good. Devin Booker is really good,
Spider Mitchell is really good. You know, Emmanuel Quickly he
is really good. You know, all these great young stars,
but none of them are Zion Williamson. And he comes
back and he is healthy, and I keep saying, if,
but if that happens, he's got that swagger. He shock again.
(22:14):
All his highlights are a must. All his games will
be on television, nationally televised, whether it's the Pelicans or
the Knicks or something what everywhere every winds up, where
ever he ends up, he will be. He would star
in the NBA. He'll be the biggest star in the
league and it and it'll be immediate, It'll be overnight.
It's like it's it's like when when Max when uh
(22:34):
Steven Strasburg first came into Major League baseball right and
suddenly he was striking out a ton of people, and
it was I felt like we were killing time between
his starts because he was such a phenomenon coming out
of the Miners and here he was right in the league,
when when every fifth day was how many strikeouts tonight
for Strasburg. You know, he wind up winning a World Series.
But you know what, he never really attained the the
(22:55):
height that of a dominant picture for overall for years
he had injury problems. But when a when, when a
when a phenom comes in, he takes over. And Zion
is still at that point where he's still a phenom, right,
I mean he's still a phenom because we haven't seen
a lot of him plays like we're waiting for him.
And again, my fingers across, because he will be the
biggest star in the NBA very short if he's healthy
(23:17):
for a week after he comes back, he'll be the
biggest star in the NBA. Well, you just remember everything
that he did for those five games, right, I mean
he's averaging twenty seven points a game. He's averaging four
or five highlight real dunks and moves into the low post,
and the power and the pogo stick legs, all of
those things. Not to mention the personality right postgame interviews, Uh,
(23:40):
they couldn't get a microphone in his face fast enough.
So certainly, uh that that is. And not to mention
the marketability beyond that, right, just a guy that had
really captivated a lot of the ancillary business in the NBA.
Talked about it from a trading card perspective, UH and
jersey sales and all of those things. That he was
(24:04):
the guy and if you can get him back on
on the court to any level of success right now,
it's him and Morant coming out of that class that
helped lead the way. That's a big deal for the
NBA because you're starting to get that next level. And
I don't know if Devin Book or some of these
guys have they're not long in the tooth, but they
(24:25):
get lumped in with guys that are in their eighth
and ninth year saying all right, they're gonna take the man.
It was like, all right, that they're already towards what
would be considered the second parts of their careers, right
not necessarily the young up and comers that you you
want to push all your energy behind. As you see Durant, Harden,
Irving Lebron, all of these guys creeping towards whatever that
(24:46):
end line is, whether it's one year, four years, five years, whatever.
You do need that next group to rise up as
he recovers from that fifth metacarpal injury. And I know
something about fifth met carpals. Let me tell you what
about fourth metacarpals. You're not wow, that one's pick metacarpals.
That one's pinned to my pinned to my to my

fifth So I'm not moving that one much either. I
can tell you this. It hurts like hell. All right?
What about his foot looked a lot like what my

for Spencer Dinwiddie. So uh, not quite the blowout we

thought coming out of the third quarter. We got a
little bit of a game here going to the fourth
and we'll have more on that coming up in a
few minutes. Again, end of the third quarter, Warriors lead Dallas.
But today was a day in the NFL where Mike,
I'm telling you I can see the future even if
the Raiders can't. A day after a day after Colin
(28:02):
Kaepernick worked out for the team, the team was mom
about whether or not they're going to sign him, but
head coach Josh McDaniels said that, hey, listen, we didn't
really have to give Derek Carra heads up on Colin
Kaepernick or not. He feels pretty good about his status
with the team. Take a listen, I won't just by
just a standard procedure. We're not we won't only talk
(28:22):
about the people that are on our team. I mean,
Dave and his staff have worked out tons of guys
you know this spring, um, and and we really don't
make comments about the evaluations that we made or you
know what what they look like, what they didn't look like,
strengths and weaknesses, those kind of things. They're kind of um,
you know, private obviously for us as we look at
things to try to make decisions to make the team better.

And um, you know, if players are added to the team,
that obviously we'll talk about him at that point. But
I respect the question, I understand, but that's kind of
what we'll we'll we'll stick to, uh, he said. Derek
Carr knows the team is his and that everything is fine.
Didn't feel the need to have to give him a
heads up all these things. Okay, let me they gave
(29:05):
him a three year million dollar contract. Why does that
even need to be said? Yeah, I know, exactly right,
because exactly cause you know why, because I see the
future right, and it doesn't matter because let's say Colin
Kaepernick signs, right, Let's play this out for a couple
of minutes. Alright, Let's just say the Raiders just signed
to sign Colin Kaepernick, who is all happy now coming
(29:26):
in as a backup if he if he is if
he really wants to play, and he comes and as
a backup. Derek Carr isn't that guy that can bat
away controversy if he doesn't play well at the bottom line,
is Derek Yeah, well he'll try to block everyone. He
to block everybody on Twitter. Derek Carr is an average quarterback. Okay,
He's an average guy through tree touchdowns, left into thirty
(29:47):
five touchdowns, through for a lot of yards, but didn't
put up a lot of offenses. Quarterback rating is middle
of the pack. Derek Carr is not great, right, This
is not Colin Kaepernick wants to get back in league.
He's backing up Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson,
you know the or Patrick Mahomes. No, he's coming into
the Raiders because the bottom line, everybody wants to start,
and it doesn't matter. They gave Derek Carr that money.
(30:09):
If Derek Carr stinks, what do you think is going
to happen? The pressure to play Colin Kaepernick will be immense.
It will be immense from the fans. It will be
immense from the team in the locker room that will
want to see Colin Kaepernick play. It will be immense
from the media, It will be immense from everywhere. Why
(30:30):
is Colin Kaepernick not playing? When Derek Carr stinks, It'll
be on TV every single day, doesn't matter. You're paying
him forty million dollars a year. This is what's going
to happen. Right, The Raiders think they know and John
McDaniels going, yeah, everything's fine, We're gonna watch what happens
when Derek Carr stinks. Because you know what, Derek Carr
was under five. They had a four game win streak
(30:52):
to end the year last year, which got him up,
got him into the players great run right end of
the season. Derek Carr wasn't phenomenal, didn't throw it for
more than two touchdowns in the game all year, right,
So it's not like, hey, he's throwing the team to victory.
So at that point, Hey, we're six and seven. If
Derek Carr is not playing, great, the whispers for Kaepernick
are gonna be yells right away, and it's gonna be
(31:13):
why is he not playing? Is this a conspiracy to
have him not play? Is he just in the league
now as a backup? And it's never gonna be anything else?
And this is some kind of agreement. The the pressure
to play him will overwhelm everything, and especially you're talking
about the Raiders where their structure and their hierarchy is
still being figured out. You've got new people in all
these different positions, and Josh McDaniels didn't really handle the
(31:35):
pressure cooker better well the last time. Hey let's go
get Tim tebow Man. This is gonna be awesome. Yet, no,
didn't really work. And I'm telling you, I see the future.
I know exactly how it's gonna go. If they signed
Kaepernick the minute Derek Carr is bad, this is what's
going to happen. And Kaepernick is going to engulf the
team because of his popularity and because of what people
(31:56):
want to see. They want to see him on a
football field, and that's gonna go, I tell you, a
fan media and into the locker room. Well, the curiosity
will be what the what the team structure is. Right,
if it is legitimately Derek Kard playing well, then yeah,
opened the door and and and see what you can
get down the stretch. You know. Part of the bringing
on Kaepernick with what his skill set was, whatever that
(32:20):
is left, was that that it is a bit different
than Car And you can have some of the different
packages and the red zone or whatever like you had
a year ago before Mariota left. But it is the
curiosity of how the locker room flows. I mean, we
we have seen Car and his family. Uh and in
terms of their social media prowess if you get after
(32:42):
him a bit, uh that to where there's blockage, uh,
and standing and knowing David has done it for Derek
a number of times in his positions. So and that's
what family does. But the reality is, yeah, even with
the huge contract, be always looking over your shoulder as
to what's coming down the pike next. As for the
(33:05):
national media, sure there's gonna be a lot of folks
that immediately are gonna say, well, he's at least as
good as Derek Carr. Anyway, Oh well, people think right now,
he's as good as Derek Carr. Yeah, why not, He's
just as good as we've seen. We've seen some of
the accounts you know who, they are out there listening
wherever you are, that have already listed the number of
quarterbacks that Kaepernick should be starting over despite not being
(33:26):
in a locker room for half a decade. Twitter and
how about a fresca. Mike gets swollen down the Jason
Smith's with Mike car and see, I can see the

like a house of fire, nineteen points in the first half,
seven and eleven, shooting five of eight from three point range, swagger,
defensive intensity, you name it, you got it, and the
Warriors looking to dispatch and dispose of the Dallas Mavericks. Look,
I wouldn't call myself a hero. I don't know that

I would use those words when it comes to Clay Thompson.
I don't know that, you know, the chosen one. I
didn't know that I would use those words. I think
I think words like that are used for uh, you know,
people who do more important things. But you know, you
say hero. Uh. And now Warriors and their fans owe me,
you know, for you know they could hate me from
my Steph Curry system quarterback take. But you know what
(05:03):
clearly uh inspiring Clay Thompson I did last night by
saying the Warriors have a Klay Thompson problem. He's not
dynamic anymore. He's hitting the wall. He is averaging less
points per game per round because he's not the same
dynamic player. He's played too many minutes coming back from
injury after two years, and he's just not the same player.
And he's not getting his shots. And they have an issue,
(05:24):
and he should come off the bench and he should
play less minutes in Jordan Pool should be in the
starting lineup. Clay Thompson using that as motivation. As you
said nineteen in the first half tonight, You're welcome Warriors.
You're welcome. I'm getting you to the NBA Finals. You're welcome,
k n b R. I'm really I'm ready for my
interview anytime, because now I I have I have done
(05:44):
more for the Warriors than anybody who's not on the
court tonight. I've done more. I've done more than Steve
Kurt tonight for the team because Steve Kurt, you know,
like Steve Kirk could have done some things he didn't.
I did some things I let. I was the pat
Riley who came up to Magic Johnson before the game
against the Celtics and said, hey, sixty three, what's that
the vote for Larry Bird Rookie of the Year over you?

I was the pat Riley of this. I'm the danger,
Mike Harmon, I'm the danger. Now all the world's are colliding.
It's funny you bring in winning time at the end, uh,
and I'll start from there. I did my normal spot
with my friends in Baltimore, and they brought up some
of the inaccuracies on the schedule and who they beat,
and I said, I was six years old. I was.

I was worried about, you know, playing with my my
action figures and whether I was going to get another
Batman or Robin Doll. I wasn't worried. I wasn't worried
about the you know, schedule and how the the Lakers
were blowing through pep on on on on on on
on on on on on a Batman nice. It's too

bad I don't have all those action figures like uh
Steve Carell had in the forty year old version with
the original boxes at all. But project him, Oh, these
are Star Wars original figurines, all still in the path.
Could just look, it's chewy. Uh look, it's so so
we start there and and wasn't really three. I don't know,

but it sounds good. But the the Warriors clearly have
someone up there that's feeding them information. There's people feeding
information around the hallways at Fox Sports Radio to give
good analysis and say, hey, this was pretty good. You'd
like this, uh and give it a spin, you know,
those kind of things that happens. I mean, that's just

the way it works. And and right now for the Warriors,
riding high off of your hot take regarding the imminent
demise of Clay Thompson, Uh, he leads the team Steph
Curry just five points. He's got an ankle slash foot
issue that's going on. You had Draymond Green go up
for a dunk where he was met by the bottom
(07:53):
of the rim and some defense. His arm has been wrapped.
He's been on the court since, but two injuries that
we also need to make note of as we watch
this game unfold into the second half. But a great
job by the Warriors also defensively of forcing the ball
out of Lucas hands and when he does have the
ball and trying to make plays. He's two of twelve
(08:15):
and he's looked ratic. He's missed a couple of easy shots.
Uh in the interior. Uh. And right now it's gonna
take more than just Spencer Dinwitti with his seventeen to
save him. Do you think the Warriors would give me
a player's ring or I get like a PR department ring,
like the ring they get to the people that work
for the team. You know what I think that you get.
I think it's gonna be like to give away. They're

gonna do a Dodger Stadium later this second half of
the season. I don't know if you sup they're gonna
give away uh Championship ring replicas. Okay, but they're gonna
be blind box. So you have no idea which one
you get. So you might get twenty, you might get
one of the titles of the Steve Garvey and Tommy
lasord Era. Do you get one for for when you

lost to the Astros? Since they really won the Worlds here?
You know what, they really should make one even bigger.
That should be Wait what what what's in the big box?
Well that's the special one. Yeah, everybody, I I don't
want to replica right how, I mean a real ring
I get If I get the Warriors to the finals,
I've done again more than anybody. That's anybody else besides
the players on the court. Buddy, they were the fourth

favorite to get to these doesn't matter. Hey, I've gotta
but I've got to bring it back to reality because
I look on my Twitter timeline and people are buying
the trash that the Warriors themselves have been spewing. Nobody
gave him a chance. They were down and blah blah blah.
It's like, no, just because as a collective we were

dumb and thought that the Nets and Lakers could actually
be good doesn't take away from the fact that the
betting market said that the Warriors are one of the
best teams in the NBA and are probably going to
be in a position to do exactly what they're doing
right now. So you get some credit, especially for Klay Thompson,
that's the leader tonight. I don't know what that gets you, though.

I mean, I'd probably have a limited edition Klay Thompson
card that I could bestow upon you on behalf of
the show and just say, hey, good job by you.
To have to have meaning in an otherwise chaotic world.
But I mean inter that or I've got a couple
of cool Joker cards or a sticker of bane. Nobody

believed we could do it. Yeah, you had the third
best record in the league this year. Yeah, but nobody
believed we could do You were eleven to one going
at all. No, no, no, but yeah, still I look
at the record and it was pretty good. No, it
doesn't matter. We need this as motivation. We need to say,
you know, that's actually that personally. Yeah, that's become such
the crutch for every team to go to, is that, Hey,

nobody believed in us. What do you mean nobody that
that's that's a completely false storyline. Who is not unbelieved
in you all the way? Who is said you're gonna lose,
You're gonna lose, You're gonna lose you. You might you
might have had a couple of guys in the local
market that we're disbelievers. Why right, because you got you
gotta have a little bit of contentiousness. Not everybody could
drink the cool, particularly the media rights. No, but I'm

not Larry Beale, Probably not Tom Tolbert. I'm just going Larry.

exactly how we said it was going to go. The
Warriors were gonna be too much, they were going to

score too much. Luca was going to be really good
and they're shutting him down tonight and I can't believe
it's only seventeen points when he's got six. But in
the end, this is not a great Mavericks team. And
Jalen Brunson is okay, He's gonna be far overpaid in
the off season. Spencer Dinwood, he is okay, but this
is not a great roster, and this is how the
series probably should have gone. And we still on the
(12:32):
second half to go, and you never know, Luca could
get hot, but so far that nothing has happened. That's
not gone according to a we said it was gonna go,
and I really can't believe there's a lot of derivation
from that anywhere. This was how it should be because
the Warriors this year, this invention, this incarnation of the team,
just has too much for the Dallas Mavericks. No I
should There's just too many guys, uh, defensively right to
(12:55):
wear him out, but also just from a scoring perspective,
trying to keep up right, You're having a huge night
from Clay He's got nineteen, Pool's got twelve, and you
really haven't gotten a ton else from your starters at
this point, and you're wondering, you know, Steph Curry, what's
the what's the wear and tear on the foot and leg?
(13:16):
Gonna be here going forward? Just one of four from
the field in the first half. Draymond's got ten. He
was came out firing and on the radio call, it
was why is Draymond shooting again? Very aggressive? The other
being aggressive from the three point arc which has been
the calling card of the Mavericks. There nine of twenty three,
which isn't awful on the grand scheme of things, but

Warriors matching him a little better efficiency nine of nineteen
thus far. Uh So it's I hope we get a
better second half. I'm not overly optimistic that we do,

I saw something that said they liked him in Itally,
they did not like the movie. And as we come
define more and more films based on Stephen King, stuff
doesn't always work about us. No, it's tough. I'll tell you.
The Outsider was fantastic. That's the last great thing that

happens to that was. Oh my god, that was such
a terrific mini series. I was just gonna say, go
all the way back to show no no, no, no, no,
go back a little bit more recent and I'm telling
you outside it was terrific. I mean, the book was
the book was great, that the series was terrific. Have
to go back to see this is philipbusting because this
game sucks. Uh yeah, well, at least we have a
little bit of upset. Luka done because after Clay Thompson

hit a three at the last time out to give
the Warriors a seventy four three lead early in the
third quarter, Luka dont went off the court. He kicked
that chair. He sat down in really hard with his
right foot. I'm so mad, I'm gonna kick He's questionable
to return. Just kidding. No, he's on the court. He's
on the court. He's on the court. Wasn't joke, which

is we immediately we didn't let it live. He didn't
let it have any breath. Uh No, it's it's really been,
uh a terrible effort by the Mavericks. Uh just being
run run on on both ends of the court, right
and settling from some really bad shots. They had a

in the first half, because look, you guys are really
hustled out defense. They made a couple of circus threes.
But I love the effort. It's gonna be great. Keep
doing what you're doing. Uh so yeah, so seventies six
fifty four Clay Thompson with twenty two. Uh listen, I'll
send my ring size out because I'm gonna get a
ring no matter what. As they go to the finals,

but if they win, well I'll tell you I get
that ring because I clearly motivated Clay Thompson with my
comments last night that they have a Clay Thompson problem,
and here he is. What the one game of series
Klay Thompson shows up, right, Hey, I'll show up in
the clincher every series. Right, I'm gonna take some time
and be bad up until then, but I'll show up
for the clincher. Maybe that's the new Clay Thompson. You know,
that's bad strategy that people think that series. That's the

last thing you remember, that's right. Oh man, I think
he's really I think he's really really good. Look what
he did in that close out that. Yeah, that's that's
not a bad I'm gonna show up in the last
game and that's gonna do it. Okay. I kind of
like that, Mike. I kind of think it's been the
last I think that's a pretty good strategy. That's because Stanza,
un tell your good one liner and get the hell out.

Leave him laughing, everybody leave him laughing. Uh so again
speaking of laughers. Yeah, Warriors by twenty one over the
MAVs right now, uh now by twenty four with nine
minutes ago in the third quarter. It looks like the
Warriors are just a few minutes away from the NBA Finals. Now,
other big news in the NBA today, uh Zion Williams.
(20:23):
And this is the best possible news you could get
that Zion Williamson has been cleared to return. He doesn't
have any more limitations. He is ready to come back
and he can begin preparations for this coming season now,
whether it's in New Orleans or someplace else. He signs
the maximum. Let's focus on how big a story this
is because of all the stars we talk about in
(20:47):
the NBA, right, all the guys we spend time talking
about in the playoffs. If he comes back and he
is healthy, and I realized I just said, you know,
three ifs. But with with Zion Williamson has played eighty
five games and three years. You gotta say, if if
he comes back and he is healthy, that's an if
in an end, then he will be in short order
(21:07):
the biggest star in the NBA, bar none. All right.
He has the IT factor that none of the other
young stars in the league has. And and a lot
of stars have great at factors, right they all Jayson
Tatum's got a great AT factor, so does Yaza. None
of them have that, and you can't quantify it. But
the fascination with Williamson, with his size and what he does,
(21:30):
he would be the biggest star in the game right away.
He'd be the Shaquille O'Neal twenty years later. He just
has that fascination about him. We're frustrated with the old
guard of Lebron and k D and Harden and Kyrie
and guys who show up when they feel like it
and and and you know, it's it's drama and it's
questions and they're on TV every day, and you know what,
(21:52):
we're kind of we're kind of done with them. The
new stars are really good. Devin Booker is really good,
Spider Mitchell is really good. You know, Emmanuel Quickly he
is really good. You know, all these great young stars,
but none of them are Zion Williamson. And he comes
back and he is healthy, and I keep saying, if,
but if that happens, he's got that swagger. He shock again.
(22:14):
All his highlights are a must. All his games will
be on television, nationally televised, whether it's the Pelicans or
the Knicks or something what everywhere every winds up, where
ever he ends up, he will be. He would star
in the NBA. He'll be the biggest star in the
league and it and it'll be immediate, It'll be overnight.
It's like it's it's like when when Max when uh
(22:34):
Steven Strasburg first came into Major League baseball right and
suddenly he was striking out a ton of people, and
it was I felt like we were killing time between
his starts because he was such a phenomenon coming out
of the Miners and here he was right in the league,
when when every fifth day was how many strikeouts tonight
for Strasburg. You know, he wind up winning a World Series.
But you know what, he never really attained the the
(22:55):
height that of a dominant picture for overall for years
he had injury problems. But when a when, when a
when a phenom comes in, he takes over. And Zion
is still at that point where he's still a phenom, right,
I mean he's still a phenom because we haven't seen
a lot of him plays like we're waiting for him.
And again, my fingers across, because he will be the
biggest star in the NBA very short if he's healthy
(23:17):
for a week after he comes back, he'll be the
biggest star in the NBA. Well, you just remember everything
that he did for those five games, right, I mean
he's averaging twenty seven points a game. He's averaging four
or five highlight real dunks and moves into the low post,
and the power and the pogo stick legs, all of
those things. Not to mention the personality right postgame interviews, Uh,
(23:40):
they couldn't get a microphone in his face fast enough.
So certainly, uh that that is. And not to mention
the marketability beyond that, right, just a guy that had
really captivated a lot of the ancillary business in the NBA.
Talked about it from a trading card perspective, UH and
jersey sales and all of those things. That he was
(24:04):
the guy and if you can get him back on
on the court to any level of success right now,
it's him and Morant coming out of that class that
helped lead the way. That's a big deal for the
NBA because you're starting to get that next level. And
I don't know if Devin Book or some of these
guys have they're not long in the tooth, but they
(24:25):
get lumped in with guys that are in their eighth
and ninth year saying all right, they're gonna take the man.
It was like, all right, that they're already towards what
would be considered the second parts of their careers, right
not necessarily the young up and comers that you you
want to push all your energy behind. As you see Durant, Harden,
Irving Lebron, all of these guys creeping towards whatever that
(24:46):
end line is, whether it's one year, four years, five years, whatever.
You do need that next group to rise up as
he recovers from that fifth metacarpal injury. And I know
something about fifth met carpals. Let me tell you what
about fourth metacarpals. You're not wow, that one's pick metacarpals.
That one's pinned to my pinned to my to my

fifth So I'm not moving that one much either. I
can tell you this. It hurts like hell. All right?
What about his foot looked a lot like what my
hand X ray looked like? What about metatarsals? Are you

the Raiders can't. A day after a day after Colin

Kaepernick worked out for the team, the team was mom
about whether or not they're going to sign him, but
head coach Josh McDaniels said that, hey, listen, we didn't
really have to give Derek Carra heads up on Colin
Kaepernick or not. He feels pretty good about his status
with the team. Take a listen, I won't just by
just a standard procedure. We're not we won't only talk
(28:22):
about the people that are on our team. I mean,
Dave and his staff have worked out tons of guys
you know this spring, um, and and we really don't
make comments about the evaluations that we made or you
know what what they look like, what they didn't look like,
strengths and weaknesses, those kind of things. They're kind of um,
you know, private obviously for us as we look at
things to try to make decisions to make the team better.
(28:44):
And um, you know, if players are added to the team,
that obviously we'll talk about him at that point. But
I respect the question, I understand, but that's kind of
what we'll we'll we'll stick to, uh, he said. Derek
Carr knows the team is his and that everything is fine.
Didn't feel the need to have to give him a
heads up all these things. Okay, let me they gave
(29:05):
him a three year million dollar contract. Why does that
even need to be said? Yeah, I know, exactly right,
because exactly cause you know why, because I see the
future right, and it doesn't matter because let's say Colin
Kaepernick signs, right, Let's play this out for a couple
of minutes. Alright, Let's just say the Raiders just signed
to sign Colin Kaepernick, who is all happy now coming
(29:26):
in as a backup if he if he is if
he really wants to play, and he comes and as
a backup. Derek Carr isn't that guy that can bat
away controversy if he doesn't play well at the bottom line,
is Derek Yeah, well he'll try to block everyone. He
to block everybody on Twitter. Derek Carr is an average quarterback. Okay,
He's an average guy through tree touchdowns, left into thirty
(29:47):
five touchdowns, through for a lot of yards, but didn't
put up a lot of offenses. Quarterback rating is middle
of the pack. Derek Carr is not great, right, This
is not Colin Kaepernick wants to get back in league.
He's backing up Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson,
you know the or Patrick Mahomes. No, he's coming into
the Raiders because the bottom line, everybody wants to start,
and it doesn't matter. They gave Derek Carr that money.
(30:09):
If Derek Carr stinks, what do you think is going
to happen? The pressure to play Colin Kaepernick will be immense.
It will be immense from the fans. It will be
immense from the team in the locker room that will
want to see Colin Kaepernick play. It will be immense
from the media, It will be immense from everywhere. Why
(30:30):
is Colin Kaepernick not playing? When Derek Carr stinks, It'll
be on TV every single day, doesn't matter. You're paying
him forty million dollars a year. This is what's going
to happen. Right, The Raiders think they know and John
McDaniels going, yeah, everything's fine, We're gonna watch what happens
when Derek Carr stinks. Because you know what, Derek Carr
was under five. They had a four game win streak
(30:52):
to end the year last year, which got him up,
got him into the players great run right end of
the season. Derek Carr wasn't phenomenal, didn't throw it for
more than two touchdowns in the game all year, right,
So it's not like, hey, he's throwing the team to victory.
So at that point, Hey, we're six and seven. If
Derek Carr is not playing, great, the whispers for Kaepernick
are gonna be yells right away, and it's gonna be
(31:13):
why is he not playing? Is this a conspiracy to
have him not play? Is he just in the league
now as a backup? And it's never gonna be anything else?
And this is some kind of agreement. The the pressure
to play him will overwhelm everything, and especially you're talking
about the Raiders where their structure and their hierarchy is
still being figured out. You've got new people in all
these different positions, and Josh McDaniels didn't really handle the
(31:35):
pressure cooker better well the last time. Hey let's go
get Tim tebow Man. This is gonna be awesome. Yet, no,
didn't really work. And I'm telling you, I see the future.
I know exactly how it's gonna go. If they signed
Kaepernick the minute Derek Carr is bad, this is what's
going to happen. And Kaepernick is going to engulf the
team because of his popularity and because of what people
(31:56):
want to see. They want to see him on a
football field, and that's gonna go, I tell you, a
fan media and into the locker room. Well, the curiosity
will be what the what the team structure is. Right,
if it is legitimately Derek Kard playing well, then yeah,
opened the door and and and see what you can
get down the stretch. You know. Part of the bringing
on Kaepernick with what his skill set was, whatever that
(32:20):
is left, was that that it is a bit different
than Car And you can have some of the different
packages and the red zone or whatever like you had
a year ago before Mariota left. But it is the
curiosity of how the locker room flows. I mean, we
we have seen Car and his family. Uh and in
terms of their social media prowess if you get after
(32:42):
him a bit, uh that to where there's blockage, uh,
and standing and knowing David has done it for Derek
a number of times in his positions. So and that's
what family does. But the reality is, yeah, even with
the huge contract, be always looking over your shoulder as
to what's coming down the pike next. As for the
(33:05):
national media, sure there's gonna be a lot of folks
that immediately are gonna say, well, he's at least as
good as Derek Carr. Anyway, Oh well, people think right now,
he's as good as Derek Carr. Yeah, why not, He's
just as good as we've seen. We've seen some of
the accounts you know who, they are out there listening
wherever you are, that have already listed the number of
quarterbacks that Kaepernick should be starting over despite not being
(33:26):
in a locker room for half a decade. Twitter and
how about a fresca. Mike gets swollen down the Jason
