On the very rainy Thursday night. Here from the ti
iract dot Com studios. We have so much football to
get to. We got off the of coordinate. I don't
think there's any outside of the teams that are still
in the playoffs, Mike Carmen, None of the other teams,

(01:07):
none of the other UH twenty four teams in the
player that are not in the playoffs, have an active
offensive or defensive coordinator. They've all been fired at this point,
nobody there's twenty four openings on each side of the ball.
It is kind of interesting because it always goes back
to the same principle you and I have been talking
about for as long as we've been doing this show.
Something I have banged the drum on UH as hard

(01:29):
as I possibly can. Very rarely do we call for
coaches to get fired, right, head coaches, coordinators all the
way on down the line, And when we do, there's
usually a preponderance of evidence to say you can't get
this done, and sometimes the team disagrees with you. Brandon Staley,
but you have the coordinator position, which I think is

(01:50):
the same mechanism, because now you have to go into
the marketplace that say, who are we getting that's better
than this guy? We've made the decision to fire him.
Oh yes, so of nine other teams? Well, because what
are we gonna blay musical chairs? This is this is
one of those things. This is one of those things
that you know, we run into his parents all the time. Okay,

(02:11):
I'd love to be able to solve this issue forever,
but sometimes you just have to solve issues for right
now and then worry about the big future in a
few days. It happens that way. So what a head
coach is? Boy? Uh, we really underachieved this year. I
want to keep this job. So I'm gonna throw my
O C under the bus, or I'm gonna throw my
DC under the bus and say it was your fault. Hey,

(02:32):
g M Hey, Mr Owner, this wasn't me our defense.
I think he needs to go. I will, you know,
and I will let him go if you needed to
let him go. Okay, I'll let him go. I'll will
this save my job if I can somehow explain how
the communication between he and the players failed and it
wasn't my fault. I mean I delegated like I was
supposed to. You said, put that guy in charge of

(02:53):
the offense, and look what he gave you. I mean, look,
he only gave you eighteen points a game. I mean,
what do you want from me? I'm run in the
whole operation here. Yeah, but but I'm I wasn't really
that involved. I kind of trusted him to do his
own thing. I was with the side of the ball
that was good. So I went on. You know, that's
where I cont defensive background and we we came on

(03:14):
strong second half. Yeah, let's be alone. Yeah, I I
really you know, the second half, and you saw the approvment.
I was really more involved with the team. That's I
mean really that that's on me. The other side me,
I don't even know if I talked to our offensive
coordinator the last six weeks this season, I don't even know. Man, Here,
here's the print out of how I used my key
card and which rooms I was in. You could see

(03:35):
that I showed up in more defensive meetings. And look
at what happened on that side of the ball. Oh man, today,
Byron Left, which fired as o C by the Bucks,
Greg Roman resigning as offensive coordinator of the Ravens when
it was clear of the raven said hey, we gotta
go another directions. Uh the utual firing and Donnitel is
their defensive coordinator. The Dolphins fired defensive cuditor Josh Bowyer

(03:59):
after they get knocked out of the planoffs every Listen, hey,
all of you guys, you're all gonna fall on the
sword for me, right This, this, you know, reminds me
of remember the movie Dave, when Kevin Klein was to
look alike for the president, and and and and when
he's really the president, he's in the room with all
his chief of staff and everybody, and he sits there
he says, listen, I don't want to look like a jerk.
I want you guys to look like jerk's to the public. Right.

(04:21):
That's that's kind of how I feel. I'm not gonna
get fired for this. I want you guys to get
fired for this. So that's what we're gonna do. So
today today was like Black Thursday, like with all for
all the c D. I mean you, we had like
six openings today. Hey, I got a job. I got
a job. I got a job, I got a job,
I got a job and happened today. Yeah, an amazing
week overall. Glad to have you back. By the way,

(04:42):
we missed you the last couple of nights. All sorts
of storylines, nick losses and whatever else that we could
have discussed that we just kind of made mention. Yeah,
but I was at Disneyland, so I won. I was
so excited. No, I was really happy for you. I mean,
you did complain about the food as we were conversing
about it. It just means you didn't work hard enough
because there's opportunities there for for great But the rest

(05:04):
of the time was okay because you know, Steve Cohen
bought Disneyland and it actually was a Mets fans day there,
so actually it was great everything else there, but yeah,
I know, the food could have been a little bit better. Well,
you know what we wanted to do. We were going
to call security and say, can you find the guy
in the Syracuse or Mets sweatshirt? We're not sure which,
and I it was whoever com a Syracuse sweatshirt and

(05:28):
a Mets at. It was a Mets sweatshirt and a
Syricuse Let me tell you, let me, let me, let
me honest with you. It was a Syracuse sweatshirt. It
was orange. You couldn't miss me, all right, you couldn't
miss me. It was a Syricus sweatshirt and a Syracuse hat.
I don't mix Syracuse. If you go with one one
one team, you can't go with a different team. I
gotta go. You gotta look like a coach, you gotta
look like, oh yeah, I'm working for How many kids

(05:50):
online called you kool aid? Oh yeah? Yeah, Like I said,
orange is a tough color to pull off. Really, I
wish my team colors were in orange, but they are,
so it's not a lot I could do. But that's
just and you go in how many we were trying
to figure out how many people in line just said,
this guy doesn't shut up, Let's move to another rise.

(06:12):
The hell's he keep talking about the Mets and free agency.
For I like seeing because everybody, like when they go
to Disneyland, they all like to wear I'm gonna wear
my best you know, uh sweatshirt or my best team
hat or something like that. It's always like just seeing
somebody in line and go like like we were in
a forty Niners kept going, you can beat the Cowboys
this week. Oh yeah, I think so. I said, Yeah,
that stinks. Brock Purty got hurt. What I know. I'm

(06:34):
just kidding, man, I'm just kidding rock parties. Fine, I'm
just kidding. Oh, don't do that to me, man. I
kind of like doing that. That's kind of fun. No, Well,
you know, you gotta commiserate with folks and then slightly
slip in what you do for a living and evangelized.
We're trying to expand the av I have McDonald's right now. Yeah, yeah,

(06:56):
I don't do it. Well wait, wait, wait McDonald wait, Frostburg,
tell the truth. Do tell me you don't. If you
can make this happen, could you get me to get
paid to eat McDonald's every day? Can I get Can
I make money on eat McDonald's every day? There's a
reason they have billions served, right, But I mean I
paid them to eat, but I'm a walking billboard for them. Hey,

(07:16):
this guy likes McDonald's. Yeah, how we haven't figured out
how to to latch into that to where you know
we're we're doing some sort of tagline bit with with
them for the amount you consume. I mean, maybe it's
just because you do it for free, by by for free.
I pay for the fluid. No, no, no, no, no,

(07:37):
I'm saying, instead of you know, helping the line my pocket,
that you're doing it, you know you're paying for it,
and I got no chance of getting anything if you're
gonna keep you talking about how great it is without
them putting dollars in your pocket. Hey, listen, don't you
know who I am? I'm Jason Smith. Oh you're that guy. Yeah, listen,
here's what I want, all right. I want a free
big Mac and I want to free Big Max. In fact,

(07:58):
I want both of those. I want to die coke. Wait,
diet coke, yeah, shut up, Okay, it's less sugar. And
I want three chocolate chip cookies and I want that
every half. Hey, give me three chocolate. I once said
a guy laugh at me at a restaurant, and and
and I said, and I gave him a really low
tip because he said, what would you like it? I said,
all right, I'll have a steak. Okay, what do you
want medium rare? What? I loaded? Baked potato? All right? Uh?

(08:20):
And what do you want to drink? I said, diet coke?
And he went diet. And I'm like, and everybody the
table laughed. I was like, you just lost your tip, Yeah,
you just lost your That guy probably couldn't even get home. Yeah,
whatever is that? You want to laugh? I said, yes.
I said, it's better than if you always threatened to
keep people's cars. I did, no. No, I threatened to
key a couple of people's cars last night, and it

(08:41):
was fun. I kind of like doing that now nobody
does last night too. Yeah, well we did that. We
did the whole couple of day things, so it was
really cool. Don't have cars though. Yeah, no, no, no,
I don't know what. You threaten key his car? How
about hey, Pluto, how about a key that wagon you
ride in all the Yeah, you know I was gonna do.

(09:02):
I was gonna do the multi day thing without him.
And there they were like, you're a jerk. Wow. Yeah,
I would never threaten to go to Disneyland without my kids.
Every once in a while, you know you you want
some some some everybody needs it a little time away. Listen,
dad needs is a lone time so you go into
a bar and and and watch a game. No, I'm
going to Disneyland so I can stand inlide all day. Yeah, happiest,

(09:24):
play fighting ride while I eat snacks and taunt the
kids around because their parents won't buy it for him, Mike,
just get right all the time. I'm keeying that create Pluto,
that Creek boy. But hey, you know what, maybe after
this I get an interviewed to be an o C
or a d C with one of the NFL teams,

(09:44):
and maybe maybe you guys love somebody else to kick
around here, And I got one of those jobs. And
suddenly I'm there with a with a hat and a
pen behind my ear, and maybe I'm growing a beard
and I'm wearing a I'm wearing some kind of headset
and I'm yelling into it for players to do stuff,
and you know, wearing nice cool team gear and I'm
an OC. Hey, Jason, if you were my OC, I'd
tell you to go blank yourself and suck that. That

(10:08):
has been done before there prece but it when it
comes down the you know, back to the task at hand.
With the the number of openings here, he always got
to have a fall guy when things go awry. And
as much as we we love the silly season as
it's become both for player trades, movement and all that

(10:31):
fun stuff, rumor conjecture, speculation will do some of it tonight.
We we've now got the microwave society when it comes
to coaching. You know, we used to have the you
get a long run up all right, now you're not
getting it done, beat it? And how many coaches are
now one or two years Hell Kingsbury got the extension
and then got run out of town immediately. Hey we're

(10:52):
gonna pay you and then you're gone. Wait this means
i mean I'm in Thailand. Yeah, but Pirates Booty did
you see their other booty. Did you see that's story yesterday?
That the one person I don't know who it was,
And it's impossible to buy a one way ticket to
Thailand and Cliff Kingsbury's lying about where he is or
that he bought a one way ticket to Thailand because
you can't do that apparently, well maybe it's open ended,

(11:14):
so we only had one date on it. I feel
like that was like the the Seinfeld storyline. You can't
buy a house in Tuscany. What do you mean you
can't buy a house in Tuscany? Hey, I found one.
You can't buy it. One way ticket to Thailand. I'm
gonna put you on a that's gonna be the big line.
Now someone gets fired his head coach is gonna be
that guy's gonna get a one way ticket to Thailand. Well, yeah,
get no longer year, fire left on the tarmac, old, yeah,

(11:35):
one way ticket to Thailand. Is you want to coach
getting fired? Is that guy's on a one way ticket
to Thailand? After the season spoiler spoiler, Yeah, lots lots
of coordinator openings, so you can't wait to see the rumors,
rumor mill that starts flying here This guy has never
coached above uh, you know a little bit of special
teams coordination. Just just promote him. We have to fill

(11:58):
the spot. We have all kinds of NFL talk about rumor, conjecture, speculation.
What is next now for Lamar Jackson? What is next
now for Tom Brady? After their teams and maybe former
teams made those big moves. Yes, what Jets coach was
told to go blank himself? But one of the star
players earlier this year? What NFL team was excited when

(12:19):
their quarterback got replaced midseason? Here's a hint. It was
the Jets. We had multiple stories involving the Jets. Look
what happened just for you tonight, Thank you, buddy. We
got all positives. I know. That's the where it goes, Buddy.
Tonight show is brought to you by Discover. We could
talk about how complicated other banks make it to a

(12:40):
deem credit card rewards, or we could talk about how
we discover you can readeem you rewards for cashing any
amount at anytime. I mean talk about amazing learn more
discovered dot com slash redeem rewards terms they do apply.
So coming up next, well, Lamar Jackson is gonna be
a raven unless he's not. Way do we tell you
the craziness surrounding everybody's favorite quarterback they want to get

(13:03):
in the off season. That's next right here, Jason and
Mike Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of The

Radio phone numbers eight seven seven nine, Fox eight seven
seven six nine, Twitter at how about a fresco Mike
at Swollen Dome. UM, A big night in the NBA.
Give you update right here we have We're having NBA
Finals rematch. And look, both teams are having or had,

(13:45):
you know, having different paths to the season. The Warriors
are just trying to stay afloat the Celtics are gunning
for the number one seed in the East. And it
went to overtime and it was a huge deal. Jason
Tatum thirty seven point, thirty four points, nineteen rebounds. Celtics
beat the Warriors one. A team Steph had twenty nine,

(14:07):
Clay Thompson had twenty four. Uh, here's why. Hey, you know,
people say, why are the Warriors so bad? Why are
they struggling so much? Um? Golden State played three guys
off the bench tonight. It was like it was like
watching Syracuse and Beheim, who only goes like three deep
on his bench. They went three deep off their bench. Right.
You had some guys that were DNP CDs, including Wiseman.

(14:28):
You go three. You're playing three guys off your bench,
and they totaled ten points. Your bench was responsible for
ten points, and you're gonna strugg You wander why aren't
the Warriors any good? But it's still Clay and Steph.
And you know Jordan Pool has been playing a lot
better lately, Yes he has. But to be a championship team,
you need those support players to do something, and they

(14:51):
just don't have that. They're young players, haven't progressed like
you thought they would coming off the championship last year.
And this is why they're starting. This is why they
were five hundred team. Why they can win at home
most nights, but they can't win on the road. Your
bench always plays better at home. Your bench doesn't play
as well on the road. And this is the shining
example of that. Why why the Warriors aren't is because
they're not the same team they were last year because

(15:12):
all their young players, the guys they needed to take
big steps to have big roles just aren't there. Short rotation.
We've seen Draymond Green blame himself in the in podcast
for him Uh, he did go for eleven, thirteen and
nine tonight in his thirty seven minutes, only took five shots. Uh,
Pool was two of ten from the field, and Looney
did have twelve rebounds, so he did offer something, just

(15:34):
not in the scoring column, just those two points, but
eighteen your final in ot couple of heavy plays by
the veterans Horford UH and Jalen Brown that were really
magnified on the broadcast before they topped it off and
went to this wonderful Brooklyn Phoenix game. Because I needed

(15:56):
another son's game to watch during our show, Jason, because
that's every night. But to your point, they've got to
figure out how to steal minutes because not only are
they losing on the road down now five and eighteen,
those minutes are on the legs are gonna come back
to haunt them if they're in the playoff hunt at all,
come come April right. If the young guys can't get
into the rotation, now suddenly down the stretch when you're

(16:18):
fighting to get into the play in rounds, or say
you have a little bit of a surge and you're
trying to avoid it, say you're able to claw to
the six, that suddenly those guys are gonna be able
to play big minutes for you. It's just a recipe
for disaster. And once again we saw Jayson Tatum not
of twenty seven from the field, so not the huge
night there, but thirty four and nineteen did have seven turnovers.

(16:42):
But we have him and we have Yoka to top
the heap in ther m VP candidates. The only thing
is that Tatum I don't think has anything cool like
a farm like Luca talks about, or the sulky like
Yokich has. We have to figure out what's his uh
cool little angle that we can add in for his candidacy. No, no, no, listen,

(17:02):
none of those guys are with Jalen Brunson is winning
m v P. I'm sorry, Jalen br He scores thirty
five and night and I get that now. Thirty five
is the thirty five now because of the way everybody
you're just scoring but still, I mean scoring points a game,
Jalen Brunson your m v P. You're scoring in the
real world too. But yeah, the a little more confidential
stab yourself yourself in your career, say a little more

(17:25):
confident shooting your shot, which gets you back to the
Phoenix Suns in that crazy today. Uh yes, yes, see
how it all blends together. Oh man. The Jason Smith

Progressive dot Com. Okay, So the first offensive slash defensive
coordinator opening we're going to tackle is the Ravens because
there's a lot of news surrounding what is now next
for Lamar Jackson. Today, Greg Roman, offensive coordinator for the Ravens,
is stepping away for the good of the teams. Before

(18:11):
he got fired. Uh as they need to make different
moves on offense. So this means what does this mean?
For Lamar Jackson. Well, John harbab they had a big
press conference to they talked a lot about Lamar so
he would be involved in their next search for the
offensive coordinator for their o C. And uh, is he
gonna be their quarterback? Oh? John Harbor said he's two

(18:32):
sure that Lamar is gonna be with the Ravens next season.
Lamar Jackson is our quarterback. Everything we've done in terms
of building our offense and building our team, how we
think in terms of people and put people around him,
is based on this incredible young man, his talent, his ability.
So what I want to know is, first of all,
is this okay? Is he still gonna be in on

(18:52):
the offensive coordinator search if he's on another team? Like
when when when they trade in someplace else, is he
still like he's still gonna get the lam Like when
Lamar is traded to the Jets and and the Ravens
have Zach Wilson and they hire the and they hire
Michael Lafleurs OCAs back up? What are you doing when
all of this happens? Are they gonna say, hey, Lamar,
I know it's your old team, but you can get

(19:14):
What do you think about Oh, yeah, great, Hi, I'm
really happy for them there in Baltimore. Outstanding. Thank you.
Oh I know what you were doing there. You were
invoking just a very subtle reference to the Carl Reiner
speech at Ocean's eleven. And once we get past the
guys with the guns and the elevator, you know, and
the cameras and and all that, you know, it is
a curiosity. I mean, Bobby Petrino, can he just leave

(19:35):
a note at A and M and go get hired
by the Ravens? He you really trust him to make
it all the way through the season. You think he's
gonna make it or he canna? I I don't know.
He's he helped Lamar once upon a time, so maybe
it would be a happy reunion there. He might crash
his motorcycle on the way in. Oh whoa, hey ho.
Too soon? Too soon? Too soon? Well you know what,
But he doesn't have to say allegedly because it has
to that is true. That's why I just said too soon.

(19:58):
It's not it's it's not. It'sun isn't too soon. That's
a long time, It's I don't Frostberg says too soon
things from seven and he says too soon her Celtics. Well,
that's right. If it's something personal to him, it's too soon.
If it's too you know, America or any of our teams,

(20:19):
he'll see us in hell. Mean, we know how this
word can't remember Magic Johnson's air ball in the playoffs
on too soon. We talked about this all right now, Hey,
the Seggson will not stand. But before I get to
why this is just, you know, a fool's errand for
the Ravens, let let me give you a little bit
of a positivity for the Ravens here first, because I've

(20:42):
told you, look, they could have paid Lamar Jackson. John
Harper said so many things that Lamar's guy, he wants
to be here, We want to sign him. All these things. Well,
you could have done it already. You could have signed
him at any time in the last couple of years.
You didn't do it right. But let me just let's
just be positive for a second. And from the perspective that, okay,
Lamar can stay a Raven. The only thing that's gonna
change anybody's mind and keep him a Raven is if

(21:05):
what Steve Bishotti, the owner decides, I'm okay, guaranteeing him
two fifty plus million dollars because he wants he wants
more money than Deshaun Watson got. Right when DeShawn Watson
got to thirty, that ruined it for everybody. Right, So
if Steve shot, he changes his met's the only thing
if he changes his mind and wants to get because

(21:26):
that's what is. We don't want to guarantee him all
that money. That's why that's why there's no contract, and
Lamar wants it all guaranteed. If they gant change his mind,
that would do it. And if you're ever gonna change
your mind, didn't the end of this season into the
postseason tell you this would be the time to do it,
just to be positive before I just you know, throw
you know, water or cold water all over this just

(21:48):
to be positive. This would be the one time where
you would say, okay, this is where I get it.
Because you saw how this season ended. They went from
a really good offense, there are winning games, are doing well,
and suddenly, all right, Tyler Huntley comes in and even
though we think he is a great backup, he really
isn't that good. He has trouble moving the team. He
has a pretty decent wild card game. But boy, if
they had Lamar Jackson, maybe they win that game. If

(22:09):
anything changes, Steve, but shot, he's bind. It's what you
saw in the last few weeks. Now get wait until
I'm poor. I'm loading up the cold water to pour
it over it. But just that for a second, this
would be the time to change his mind. No, I mean,
just an interesting couple of weeks right from the offensive
side of things, clearly awful. Huntley did a good job
in that that opportunity that he had, and then they

(22:31):
threw him under the bus. He was supposed to go low.
We had it set up to go low, and look
what he did. Uh, and defense did all they could
against Joe Burrowing Company. And so you leave. You got
Dobbins talking about how he wanted didn't need to be babied,
which I thought was kind of cool. But is it
something that you you know, you said the quiet part

(22:52):
out loud as they say, uh, you know that's behind
closed doors to fight with. Well, I guess you wouldn't
fight with Roman because he was too busy acking. But
with Harbor and company, as you're you're going through to
to figure out the next generation. But everybody coming forward
talking about pay that man his money, going full rounders

(23:12):
hardball with this to and so you say all the
right things to try to placate him. It doesn't matter
if Bishati is not on board with an all in
offered cash wise. And unfortunately this is where as we
get we get back and forth on agents. Right, I've
operated my career without one. Uh maybe to my disadvantage

(23:37):
and and loss. But you know, opportunities are what they are. Circumstances, family, whatever,
are what they are. For Lamar Jackson, You're you're looking
at hundreds of millions of dollars not only in your
NFL contract, but whatever other endorsements and opportunities that you
may never have seen or heard of. Because we're talking

(23:58):
about the family thing, right, So it has a cascading effect,
But you also need to be able to have those
open dialogues and it not be as some would term it. Hey,
it can't be a distraction because how many guys had
agents and marketing people and and full teams of folks
or something. You know, we're still not talking about it

(24:19):
in season, right, you know we're we're not even having
those discussions. I e. I'm not involved with them. With
Lamari has got no choice to be but to be with,
you know, with any kind of talk and to answer questions.
And then taking the social media was just silly. Oh
when when Look, but that's that's that's a player's dont's
their way to go? Right? Yeah, I'm I'm I'm not appreciated.

(24:42):
You gotta appreciate what you have and all of those things.
There's no other way to interpret that but a giant
middle finger bet waving back and forth. Of course, it's
like in the movie when when the guy when when
the heroes taken captive and they said, what are you
gonna do any if I'm not if they don't get
a phone call from me? And in ten minutes, every
everything goes to the cops, right like, that's if you
do this to me, I'm going to social media in

(25:04):
ten minutes. Oh my goodness. But look to put today
in proper perspective, right, this is where this here, here
comes the cold water. Hold your knows, here goes the
cold water. Uh, this is what today was really about.
The Ravens went overboard, saying Lamar is going to be here,
He's going to be our guy. Why why are they

(25:24):
going over the top, when clearly it has not gone
this way for the past year plus. There's been no movement,
there's been no acceptance, there's been it's been we don't know.
The team doesn't even know when he's around, when he's there,
when he's hurt. They have no idea. I'm not traveling
with the team. They don't even know what's going on.
All today was about was so, hey, when he leaves,

(25:45):
we can be blameless. Right, Well, I think there's the
other part to it, not that I want to bring
Alex Baldwin into it. Everybody Okay, well let's let's let's
let's be careful with that. Well, ABC always be. This
is also the negotiation part of it, Jay, and of
if you want to come for him, we love him,
so your offer is gonna have to be mats no.

(26:06):
But but but the but the thing is that is
they're they're going over the top saying this because in
the end, when he leaves, there's gonna be a dejected
and revolting fan base who are gonna say, how did
you let this guy? How did you let our franchise guy,
our m v P? How did you let him walk?
And they don't want to sit back and have to
have to fight the battle of we got to move

(26:28):
past Lamar on the field and off the field. They
want and they want the fans, They want the Raven
nation to know, they want the league to know. We tried,
but he just wanted way, way, way too much. But
you see how badly we want him, because we told
you how badly we want him. What does today cost
them nothing? It's a day of free publicity. We really
really really want Lamar. Well, you know what happens in

(26:49):
a month when suddenly the latest offer is rejected and
and you got the Jets in this and and a
bunch of teams calling saying, hey how about this? How
about this? Uh yeah, you forget about a day like today.
You forget about Today was a free day for the
Ravens to get out in front and say, hey, you
want to leave Lamar. You're gonna be the guy to
look bad because we keep saying we want you. You're
not saying that. We're gonna come out and say how

(27:09):
badly we want you, and then if you want out,
you're gonna be the bad guy. Now it's about It's
also remember all negotiations are a fight for between who's
gonna pay what to who? And also if it doesn't
work out, who's gonna wind up winning that battle and
who's gonna be left holding the bag? And the Ravens
don't want to be answering those questions. Again. It's one
thing to move on from Lamar Jackson on the field,
but it's another thing to have to fight that battle

(27:31):
off the field as well. And they don't want to
do that. They want to make it. They want to
make it look like, hey, we tried, but he wanted
to leave. It's what the Packers are gonna do with
Aaron Rodgers. It's what the Patriots did with Tom Brady.
You see it now all the time you want to go,
We're gonna make it look like you're the guy that
wanted out. Yeah. I think it comes back to um
the great sting song off of the the Tribute to

(27:55):
his Hometown, the musical The Last Ship, which is fantastic.
Every sailed, no that ship is said, No fields of Gold, no,
none of that musical. It was a completely new and
original Broadway play. You dope do now? That would be
pretty cool that, which is really what they kind of
said for the last year, and now they're doing fuzzy

(28:18):
math like they're Paul Rudd and Anchorman. But it's the
they've already lost. They've already lost that that public relations
with the with the world. Now, it's it's just the
the function of Lamar Jackson. How much did he lose
with some of the social media for those that had
been art and supporters and you know, keep retain him

(28:40):
by any means necessary, by by putting out some of
that because there's always gonna be people that said you
couldn't play right. How many NFL players went back and
forth on at some saying well, he shouldn't go anywhere
near the field with that. I mean Michael Vick was
on the pregame show going, nah, put a brace on
and get after it, right. So, I mean you got

(29:01):
conflict there and the mixed messages and when you have
loud voices and and especially with former players that try
to uh determine uh and give you an idea of
what you can and can't play with, Yeah, it's it
starts to get a bit ugly and the fan base
will roll from there. By the way, use your use
of the word revolting there was also kind of interesting

(29:22):
because depending on the inflection and how you wanted to
interpret it. You were either really mocking the Baltimore fan
base and calling them revolting, or you were saying they
were ready to go up against the squad. Obviously you
meant the ladder, but the former was kind of funny too.
I'll have to send that air check to my friends
in Baltimore and see how they respond. Be sure to

Show with Mike Carmen Live from the Direct dot Com Studios.
What do you got there? A two? Jason? Is quite simple.
Everybody has their opinions, everybody has their takes. Everybody blah
blah blah blah. This is a simple thing for you, Jason.

(30:04):
This song is a top five song of all time.
This is okay? So wait, what gets knocked out of
the top five. Stairway to Heaven? Yes, really us, We're
not We're not gonna stay to heaven had okay, all right,
very good, Okay, We've already been to heaven. It's time
to stop. Born to Run communists, Born to Run gets
knocked out, to Born to Run get knocked out, it
might stay, it might say, okay, all right, very okay. Really,
you've got Born to Run in your top five of

(30:25):
all time. I'm just it's always what about Meet the Mets?
Born meet Me, Meet the Mets is always number one,
meets Beat the Mets seven number one. Now Born to
Runs always in the top five of any top top
five hundred songs of all time running up that hills
and no it's not it's the top five hundred worst
songs of all time. It's on that list. It's at

(30:46):
the top of that. It's at the top of the
hill of that list. No, it's always. Stairway to Heaven
fer Teerser Fierce is nowhere near the top top five.
Stop it's it's Born to Run is always in the
top five. Um Satisfaction and Stairway to Heaven and what's
going on? And respect? Respect? Yeah, Jason, Really, Bohemian Rhapsody

(31:11):
is right. Rhapsody is right there. But I don't know, wait,
Tight Shirt ahead of his Bohemian Rhapsody, have that one
by Metallica's right there. Bohemian Rahapsody might just fall behind
Tears for Fears right behind right, neck and neck right now,
because I know, yeah, I know, the creation of those
songs is very similar. Hotels. I just pulled up the

(31:32):
Rolling Stone. The latest top five hundred. Missy Elliott's Get
Your Freak On was number eight. Alright, d I mean
smells like teen Spirit's gotta be up there, number five,
Hotel California. Sure, that's Tears for Fears might be better
than all of them all. Yeah, that is definitely better
than Bob Dylan. Definitely better. Definitely oh yeah, yeah, way better.

(31:55):
I am comfortably numb up comfort Wish you were here, dude.
I went to Billboard and number one on Billboard is
Blinding Lights by the Weekend. This this list is terrible. Well, yeah,
that's what I thought you were gonna shay blinded by
by the Light by mandrip. No. I went to the
Greatest Hundred Songs, and they have that is number one.
That's that's not even on my top twenty. That is

(32:16):
that is like greatest top that is, like I'm just saying,
on top top top five hundred songs of all time
for people who just started listening to the radio and
I just started listening to music three years ago. It's
a great Hey. It doesn't have to be old to
be a classic, right hey? Uh? Speaking of that, is

(32:37):
Byron Leftwich old or classic? Or is he either? Uh?
He's not top five. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fire their
offensive coordinator today. He was a hot head coaching Canada
a year ago. A year later, the offense and Tampa
went downhill. Tom Brady's future is undecided. He's leaving to

(32:57):
go to another team and he's not coming back to Tampa. Uh.
And I don't know. I I don't know what the
Bucks were trying to accomplish other than okay, we need
a new voice in there for whoever the next quarterbacks
it's gonna be because this ain't bringing Brady back. This
is not one of those oh you're getting rid of
Byron left which, oh I will so come back. No,
Tom Brady is hell and gone from Tampa. He's not
coming back. The only question is he's gonna play on

(33:19):
the team or is he going to retire. He wants
to play another team, he doesn't want to retire, But
no matter what, he ain't going back to Tampa. This
is a move for the future, and let's get somebody
new in there. And Todd Bowle saying, give me one
more year to make sure I can get this thing
going right. Maybe we'll trade for Baker Mayfield. We'll figure
something out. But this, this is not getting you to
keep Tom Brady. Yeah, what a mess. This is right,

(33:41):
All the assistant coaches get gutted and you you've cleaned
out the insides, yet you've still got Todd Bowles waving
at you from the sideline. Uh. So that that is
a curiosity, no doubt for for Brady and his future.
We talked about in a bunch while you're out yesterday.
Orn Berger in uh and hanging out and you know

(34:02):
he theorized and we we were kicking around more and more.
You know, the Sean Payton just goes back if he
wants to coach New Orleans and Brady shows up there
and then they wave that everybody is still in that division.
But for the Tampa side of it is Bruce arians
coming back down to to run stuff. Right, you get
rid of left which on a day when you already
know all these other offensive coordinators are being cycled out,

(34:26):
are you finding something better? Is this just the well
we we know there were there are issues between Brady
and it's all theory, right Brady versus Left, which in
terms of how they worked the offense, and disagreements and
every kind of like he had with Arians when he
first got there, right when before they had their um

(34:46):
butt heads over bye week and then came out like
gangbusters thereafter like this, there was a lot of stuff
going on, a lot of injuries. You did have your
principal receivers for a good chunk of the season, but
no discernible on game and your offensive line was Swiss cheese.
So lots of that beyond the control of what left

(35:06):
which would be able to do. But as we've talked
about and gone through the process ever since, Chris Carter
really said it on that Morning show, you gotta have
a fall guy. And they decided Byron left, which was
going to be the guy. Is it a hail Mary
to keep Brady? Maybe might just be. You know, Todd
Bowles decided, let's let's get rid of and ownership, Let's

(35:29):
get rid of a lot of the guts of what
Bruce Arians had had in here, uh and try to
rebuild it. And you know the other thing is this
is that This is how fast you fall out of
favor as a hot head coach in Canada. A year
ago he was going to be the head coach of
the Jaguars right well, but but at least he had
he had connections there so but but but he also

(35:49):
he pulled a power play. He wanted he wanted Trent
Bulky out, and he then he pulled his name out
of consideration when it was down to him and Doug Peterson.
And now he's not sniffing a head coach job. This
is why when when it's when when they want you,
you gotta go. You mean, I I get that, you think, okay,
I got a lot of power here and I don't
want to go into a situation where I'm not put

(36:10):
in a position to succeed. But sometimes it's like, this
is the job they're offering, and if I have a
bad year, is an o C they're not calling Guess
what nobody's calling for Byron Leftwich. I think he would
do that over again if he had, if he had
a choice from last year. They of course he would.
You can't be that choosing, because it can you can
get to be a not hot higher that quickly. Well,

(36:30):
one of the things we've talked about a lot on
the show is, you know the stability of NFL teams
you can count them on one hand. How how that
works out Twitter? And how about a fresca? Mike gets
swollen down The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Coming up next, The NFL story you didn't
know you need, but in fact we all need it.
