buying should be. Now you real quick, before we get
into a big NFL store. I want to say this
because you know I will. This is kind of how
the show go watch the Crazy Train. I was thinking
about this, thinking about the eighties.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Remember the eighties run don't Walk to watch Paradise on
who Yeah, you're giving us a little note lesson don't walk.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, And because there's a lot of eighty eighties music
plays into there's a lot of and good eighties music
like White Snake and remakes of the of the of
the and they have like the remakes where it's like
the soft piano versions.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Like here I Go Again on my own, you know, piano, piano, piano,
the twinkling of the piano in ding.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
But Paradise is the most fun show I've seen, and
I don't and I the last six months, seven months.
It's just really just really quick. It's the premises and
I'm not ruining anything. Is you know how that after
a president leaves office, he keeps secret service detail, Okay,
Sterling K. Brown In the open of the the open

(01:47):
of the show is a secret service agent on the
former president, James Marsden.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Who's who?

Speaker 1 (01:54):
This is the best thing I've ever seen James Marsinen ever,
whether it's it was thirty Rock or or X Men,
Like James mars is always like he's just kind of there.
He's used to face. But he was pretty good and
dead to me. He's good in this. Yeah, yeah, he
was playing twins and dead to me. But no, but
this is the thing I've enjoyed him the most in
this anything else in his career. So it opens and
that's a that's a pretty good you know, it opens

(02:15):
with it's you know, he's still on the president, and
the last five minutes of the first episode you go,
oh my god, what is that? And I love that
just like that. Everybody I've talked to, Oh, you're watching Paradise. No,
I'm not gonna ruin it for you. I'm not gonna
ruin it for you. What are you talking about? Not
gonna ruin it, not gonna ruin it. But the last
couple of minutes of the first episode, Hey, this is

(02:36):
this is really good, right, It's it's interesting, it's it's
a little bit different. It's politics, but a little bit different.
It's not deal. And you're like, oh my god, what what?
And now you're like, I gotta watch the rest of him.
Trust me, Paradise. I'm gonna see if I get we
can find him.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Because he used to be with his fantasy football league
mates over at a bar restaurant down the show.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Okay, you're not feuding with him like me and jaj No, no,
no, no no.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
We'd have a couple of ass and you know, I'd
be sitting because I'd come in on Sunday afternoons and
do a fantasy segment a couple of times over the
course of the UH. In the course of games now,
Bursugar handles a lot of that himself, UH with with
the fellas as the the day goes on. I usually
do strut on the stage for the early morning and
then I leave. But yeah, Marsden and Sterling came Brown.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
I'm in.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, Oh, I tell you.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
I was so because I'm because it's been a really
rough last few weeks of new shows at stream and
I found that and I'm probably watching Disclaimer, which is
really good to Kate puts that on just fantastic, that's
on Apple. Okay, Kate's Apple fantastic. But no, but no,
No Paradise is like, oh my god, you're gonna come
in and go.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Oh my god, dude, you were right, Oh my god,
trust me.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
It's I don't want to not gonna spoil anything, but
it was just just got to see it.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
You gotta do.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Okay, I'm in tomorrow, I'm gonna go see the Becoming
led Zeppelin movie spoiler, they become led Zeppelin, they become big, right,
I know the end Robert Plant leaves for the honey Papers.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
That's how it ends. Do you remember when we met, Uh,
how much I love you. Yeah, that's how it ends.
Jimmy Page goes solo and does Outrider.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
That's some more paranormal you know, witchcrafts kind of stuff. Yeah,
so that's I'm just appreciate that. Well. But I mean, look,
Titanic did a billion dollars. We know how that ended. Yeah,
but you didn't know how it ended for Jack and Rose.
I don't care about Jack and Rose as much Winslet, What.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Do you mean you didn't care?

Speaker 1 (04:31):
That's what it was about the boat. You knew what Okay,
you knew what happened to the boat. You cared about
a boat, an inadimate object. You cared more about that.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Actually, I don't think i've ever watched that start to finish.
I've seen it a couple of times and bits and
pieces and cobbled it together.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
I feel bad for Fabrizio. Hey, you're gonna be there.
Also ran on because I'm gonna date Kate Winslet taking
her away and oh yeah, sorry, the ship goes down.
Oh thanks, Leo, appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Thanks, smaller suit. What's on this seat? Whoa? Yeah, I
was I was staying away from the obvious thing.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
That's why. Because the honey dripper was funny. The honey
drippers were funny. You just went decided to say, hey,
here's what happened to everybody knows. That's what happened.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Harmon likes the dead people. You know that's true.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
But he didn't bring it up. I thought maybe he's
turning over a new leaf. Kind of been positive.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
I'm down, like twenty five pounds, bring anybody not doing it.
I'm all about positivity, new wife, rebirth, all of those new.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Wings, new life. Although you said new wife, no, okay,
all right, so you said that. I was like, wait
a minute, dude, wait a minute. We haven't told me
something here for a little bit. Uh no, here, hey,
here's my new wife. Everybody all right. I just want
to make say so new la okay, very good. Okay,

(05:48):
that's why I can promise you okay, no new wife.
That would never happen, never, and you're never getting married again. Never.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Really.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
What if you met what if you met Julia Louise Dreyfus.
I think she's married still, but what if you met
Brad Hall? Okay, what if she's not kind of a
big deal and you and you would bond over Allegri
d'efontaina whatever, and you would bond over signed in Northwestern
and north go both of you went to Northwestern. You're
saying you wouldn't want to marry Julia Louis Dreyfuss.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
You would change She actually has a lot of good
family money too. But still no, you would change your
name to Mike Harmon Luis Dreyfus. No, now you wouldn't. Okay,
all right, I'm out. I'll find somebody. I'll find somebody
you'd be okay to marry. I'm fine, I think so.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah that in the realm of yeah, I'll find that.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Larger media washing world here. Sure, I'll find I can't
wait to figure out. Uh so you determine who that is.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Speaking of the media watching world, if if I ran
a television network, if I was looking for the next
great show that I could put on sports wise, I
know exactly who I'd hire. Big controversy the last few
days just starting to get some oxygen breathed into it,
courtesy of Cam Newton and Steve Smith, former teammates with

(07:03):
the Carolina Panthers. Cam Newton making some headlines a few
days ago when he goes on a podcast and wanted
to remind everybody that, hey, when I got drafted by
the Panthers back in twenty eleven, it was a sad
sack franchise.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
It was terrible.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Remember he also said that I would rather have my
MVP Trophy than win the Super Bowl. About what I did?
I forget about the guys had the block form and
catch the football. He did it himself.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
But even that year, the Super Bowl year, you go
back if you'd won with that group of guys, I
mean you're leading receiver. I mean Greg Olson was good, yeah, obviously,
but I mean Ted Gin Junior and a couple of
guys that were kind of seen as well jagged receivers.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
I think Tom Brady would have been a better receiver
than Greg Olson. Was it too soon for that?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Too soon? What did I do?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Show like folks taking like Stills and Brady and then
they're calling him fire Marshall Bill, So.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Let me talk to her for a minute. Jay, you're
stuck in a TV booth with Kevin Burkhart. All right,
So Cam Newton went on and really said some really
terrible things crowds about the Carolina Panthers and the big
thing that got his former white out. Steve Smith's attention
was this about what the locker room with the team
was like when he got drafted and went there for
the first time in twenty eleven.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
When I was the first pick, I went into a
locker room of losers.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
How did you under the pressure being the top pick.
Let's put it in perspective.

Speaker 5 (08:18):
You're the top pick because what no, no, no, no, that
you're looking at it from a personal situation. I'm talking
about from the professional situation. You're the top pick because
that was the worst team in the NFL the year before.
For me, I wanted to be the number one pick.
You could potentially be the first pick, but bro, you
have no way of impacting the game like a quarterback
doesk You can lock down the number one receiver, you

(08:40):
can make impact plays on offense all you want, but
it's still not like a quarterback. My issue is when
I was the first pick, I went into a locker
room of losers. Guys didn't know how to win, guys
didn't know how to prepare. It was a culture shock
for me. The games don't mean a lot to a
lot of people in the league like you would expect.
It's just money. Not everybody has capabilities to be impact players.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
They're just players.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
On Travis Hunter's podcast, I went into a locker room
of losers.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Yeah no, look on Travis Hunter's face it was just
like who.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
It's like the beginning of Cars one winner, fifty two losers.
I am speed. This is another instance of Cam Newton
talking going dude, what the hell are you saying?

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Man?

Speaker 1 (09:23):
I mean, I'm really I always say what kind of
teammate must he have been to play with?

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Where? Where?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
This is something you really want to say, even after
your playing days are over. I was great. The rest
of the guys around me they were losers. I won
the MVP. Nobody else did anything else. Now to take
this in a different direction, because Steve Smith has come
out and said, oh, so, uh, you know Cam Newton saying, oh,
fifty two losers great, And it's been a back and
forth on social media and Steve Smith said, hey, I'm done,

(09:50):
have you know, have a blessed life whatever he says,
I'm done with this, Steve Smith. And it's been a
pretty big though. Steve Smith has been an analyst for
for the last few years NFL Network.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
For Honest Guy Too, he will eventually occasionally stick his
foot into.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
The mix and say something, yea, his rookie year, Cherry
Judy stuff. Yeah, sure, so his.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Rookie year just for Cam Newton. Steve Smith had fourteen
hundred yards.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Yeah, I mean he had.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
I remember the first two games, like Cam Newton threw
for like five hundred yards and Steve Smith had like
four hundred of them. But here's Cam Newton jumping out
and saying things that are completely They're completely out of line,
they're completely out of whack, they're completely nonsensical, and again
it shows you what kind of teammate was Cam Newton.
Now to take this in a different direction, right, to
go back to what I said at the very beginning.

(10:37):
If I was starting a TV network, if I had
a new football show to fill, a talking head show
where I needed to make some sort of headlines and
put people up there that people were going to pay
attention to, I would say, Okay, the host, I'll figure out,
but I would hire Cam Newton and Ben Roethlisberger.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
They would be the first two.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
I would say, you're gonna be on the show, You're
gonna make headlines every day, and I want you to
just say what you say. Some stuff you say is
gonna be really insightful. Some stuff you say, especially Cam Newton,
is gonna be just stupid, because that was just stupid
to say that. But people pay attention to what you say.
You stir the conversation. And I've told you about these

(11:20):
two guys the last few years. Cam Newton does this
once in a while, and you see every time he
does he makes news. Ben Roethlisberger does a podcast he
makes mainly it's about the Steelers, but he makes news.
He's not shy about giving his opinion. I would start
a daily football show and I would hire both of them.
They would be my two analysts and it would be
a debate. It would be opinions. He jazz it up

(11:40):
a little bit to make it look different than what's
on the air now. But Cam Newton and Ben Roethlisberger
boom either side of the desk. Both star quarterbacks that
have that everybody remembers still because they just finished playing
a few years ago, that had the cachet that obviously
don't care about saying things that are going to rub
people the wrong way, because that's the last thing you
want with with within with an athlete. And this is

(12:02):
the last thing that any network wants is you're always
worried that an athlete comes in and does a great
audition and says thing is going to blow the doors
off you and then gets on the air and drives
to the middle of the field because I don't want
to say, this guy's gonna text me, this guy's gonna
say this to me, this guy's gonna do that, and
youbody like that. Roethlisberger and Cam Newton are both those guys.

(12:24):
They will say whatever they want to. They don't care.
And that's the guys you want that are driving opinions.
You can you can love the guys, you can hate
the guys, but you listen to what they say. And
that's a big thing because think about the guys that
make the news. Right, Brady makes news every week because
he's Brady, right that that kind that's kind of how
it goes.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
You know, he was really good in the fourth quarter.
He might go in the fourth quarter of that game.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Well, it's like, dude, Brady's always had his best in
the fourth. Do that. Yeah, He's always had his best
in the fourth, But it's like, do that earlier? Do
that earlier? These people will get off your back.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
But you just think about a daily show with Cam
Newton and Roethlisberger, and it would drive I have opinions,
and people will talk about and they will every day.
They would trend on social media. They would be something
that athletes would respond to because some athletes they'd be
good with, and they would tell fun stories about some athletes.
They would say, this guy stinks, this guy needs to
do this, and they would really have no filter, and

(13:17):
it would be such an interesting thing because not only
are they both big personalities, but they've played in enough
big games. They both played in Super Bowls, They've both
been stars, They've both been Pro Bowlers.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
He was the MVP.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Roethlisberger's got a couple of Super Bowls. I mean, really,
if I'm doing a football show, these are the first
two guys I put on the air, and I go,
good luck competing with the rest of that. Let me
see what all the other networks have. Let me see
your personalities on during the day. Good luck Dan Rolofski,
good luck with these guys. Good luck up against Roethlisberger
and Cam Newton. I would hire both in a second,
and my show would jump to the top. And people

(13:49):
would watch it would be wow, look at this whole show.
Jason Smith is so smart.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Look at that.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Oh my goodness, he put these guys on and look
at what they're doing. I'm telling you I would hire
both of them tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Yeah, you mentioned Orlovski's basically goodbye for a while, so
it'll be curious to see where he pops up next.
But uh, that that is to say, I'll take those
two guys. Obviously, there's a report that the Jets while
they can't do it based on the cb A uh.
One of the sticking points with Aaron Rodgers was hey,
can you can you walk away from the weekly visits

(14:19):
with with McAfee and some of the media appearances you're doing. Uh,
And it might have been a way to kind of
force the issue. But either way, that was one of
the reports coming out. You know what, one is a
third man in on that though. I want James Harrison,
Oh yeah, he yea. He gets he gets after it.
And you want to talk about an opinion, we get,

(14:40):
you got, you got the offensive side of the ball.
You got cam uh and the and the hats and
obviously I've celebrated that his whole career I love the
fact that you.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Know, he's got an opinion, he's gonna he's gonna bring it.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
And Ben Roethlisberger, we've seen that uh in spurts and
now you just have to expand it league wide. But
Harrison made some noise little bit going back and forth,
showing up on some podcasts during Super Bowl week. He's
a guy with a big a big footprint in the league. Uh,
and another guy big footprints and and also, I mean,

(15:13):
who's gonna tell him no, right, who's.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Gonna say do I start? I haven't hired you. I said,
when do I start? You can start now, mister Harrison.
Just go down the hall. We'll get your new suit on.
All right, thank you very much. Oh wow, Oh I
dodged a bullet on that one. But it's basically the
when when we get after it. You know, you got
a handful of guys that there's no filter, right a lot.
We've had a lot of big names that have had

(15:38):
their moments, Ray Lewis, Emmitt Smith, all of these guys,
and you can and you can go for the biggest name.
And that takes nothing away from the accolades that Harrison, Roethlisberger,
Cam Newton have had. But they're not afraid, right they
they're far enough removed from their playing careers to where
they're gonna give you an opinion. They're not looking to

(15:58):
be in the business of running a squad coaching all that.
They've made their peace with where they're at in their
careers and post post playing careers to give you an
honest opinion on stuff, and and give me that any
day of the week. I mean they would, they would,
They would stir the pot and it would be what
are they gonna say today? What are these guys going.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
To second scams? Thing with his team makes no sense.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
You had di'angelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart as a one
to two already.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
I did it. I did it. I did it. There's
no Iron team, but there's an emin and E and
that's me. Go back. You dive on the damn ball.
You might have won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Exit out out a Fresca exit swalling down the Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live the Tirac dot Com studios,

this week kind of is the week where we segue
out of the Super Bowl and into the next season,

(17:32):
and there's a bunch of stuff we want to talk
about over the course of tonight the next few days.
But you know, once in a while we get a
you know, when the Super Bowl ends, we get one
of those, oh, by the way, last thrusts of Super
Bowl entertainment, and we got that today. Barstool Sports put
this up on social media, the near brawl that we
almost had in New Orleans that you didn't know you wanted,

(17:55):
but maybe we needed it.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Pat Mahome not no, no, not Patrick Mahomes. Pat Mahomes Senior,
Patrick Mahomes's dad, former MLB pitcher uh Nearly brawled in
the street in New Orleans with former and disgraced Major
League reliever John Rocker, and there's video of it. You
can see the back and forth. Rocker comes out of
what looks to be a bar and says Pat. Pat

(18:22):
tries to shake his hand, and Pat knocks his hand away,
and then it looks like they're gonna come to blows.
But in you know how how it normally is with
people who are like fifty and above, it's like, yeah,
you hold me back, We're gonna fight. And they they're
all screen. They're both screaming at each other and and
they were really close to a fight, except they were
broken up by a couple of people. And my favorite

(18:42):
part at the end, you hear this guy is kind
of like a both and actually going is that Johnny
Blake and RockA And I'm just picturing like Casey Affleck
and Cole Houser from uh Goodwill Honeygo?

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Is that Johnny Blake and RockA?

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Hey, Johnny, Johnny, you gonna We're gonna why Pat Mahomes
you gonna fight Mahomes his dad.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
Yeah, it's kind of an interesting a little bit there,
right of. I mean, it's a couple of pictures.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
So it's not like, you know, Rocker would have faced
Mahomes or vice versa and you were comparing fastballs. Maybe okay,
all right, your kids sucks.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I don't know I would say this, Pat.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Pat Mahomes, who has tweeted, actually went back and looked
at because you know research, I asked, JJ, I'm good
at Twitter.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Yeah. He has tweeted ten times in nearly the last
two years. Ten times. Ten times.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Only all of his tweets have to do with the
Chiefs or Patrick Mahomes. Sure, good morning from Nola. Today
is a great day to not be from Buffalo. He
tweeted that a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
That's my boy.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
When when Patrick Mahomes wearing the AFC champion hat from
a couple of weeks ago, see you soon, Nola. And
then you got to go back to like he's tweeting
in like twenty twenty three about stuff and like, so
he's tweeted ten times in the last couple of years,
but three hours ago he tweeted out, John Rockter is
a menace to society. Yeah, sure, I want to make

(20:09):
sure I get that out there, guys tweeted ten times
in two years.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
No, we get that out there. Menace to society.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Yeah, Rocker's like going to town on Twitter. Now, he's
just been a litany of things went against Kendrick Lamar.
We leave that alone. Let's see. Mahomes is lucky he
got away. I would have capital r rocked him. So
you got that going for you. But yeah, I didn't
really see this one coming next next level.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
No, No, I never I never thought for a second
that the near brawl we're gonna get is is Mahomes's
dad and John Rocker.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
No, it's it's it's a bad look. Look, he's had
his transgressions and hopefully he's all right and whatever else.
And Rocker, well, anybody that doesn't remember you can go
and find his long history.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
So Barstool puts out the tweet and Rocker responds to it, saying,
this blanking loser can't take a joke. Wish I laid
him out right there and ruined his blank blank weekend
even more. Mahomes responded by saying, you really haven't changed
one bit in the last twenty five years. Keep my
name out your loud mouth. John Rocker said, you wouldn't
have had the blanks to say that to my face

(21:23):
the other night. And then he called him a name,
and then he then he waits and then he says
blank Patrick Mahomes like something. Now, I don't know who's
talking about. Then Mahomes is lucky he got away. I
would have rocked him, as you mentioned. And I mean
this is now suddenly it's like, hey, like every couple hours,
I feel like, Hey, Rocker's trying to breathe oxygen.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Hey, people are paying attention to me. Now I'm saying this.
I'm saying this stuff here it is, I'm saying this.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
I'm saying, Hey, I almost fought with Pat Mahomes on
on the streets of New Orleans.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
It's like bad decision jeans, Right, it wasn't that the
old sad idea jeans?

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Yeah, so there you go. This is next thing of it.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Hey, I see him walking down the street and I mean,
Mahomes has how many handlers or friends or whatever is
going on there? Most of them look like they're on payroll. Okay, Yeah,
like just the way they kind of react. It wasn't
the Frank going yeah, I'm gonna come after you, Rocker.
It was more the all right, let's figure out the
proper way to exit and defuse this situation. But yeah,

(22:23):
there's your add I mean, we kept waiting for one
coming out of Super Bowl week. Didn't really think when
we finally got it was Rocker versus Mahomes.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
It had been a while because you were expecting, say,
it's been a while for Patrick Mahomes's family to not
make anything in the news.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
I mean, the big thing was that they all took
a picture in the stands with President Trump, like that
was the big thing that got folks excitable. Otherwise and
well and Jackson saying that he could have been a quarterback. Yeah, yeah,
so we had that. That was kind of fun.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
But you think Patrick Mahomes g has woken up every
day by his manager says, Okay, so here's what happened
with your family last night.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
All right, wasn't wasn't my wife, wasn't my brother, wasn't
my dad. I don't know who was it. He's in
he's getting like a White House briefing.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
So it's uh, Chief of staff wats in and goes,
all right, Patrick, here here's what we got.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
How was family?

Speaker 1 (23:12):
I was with Brittany all day yesterday. Can't be heard Jackson.
Let me, let me get on Twitter. See what Jackson did? No, no,
it's not Jackson.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
My dad? What did my dad do?

Speaker 1 (23:20):
What he did?

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Well?

Speaker 1 (23:21):
He almost got in a fight with John Rocker? What
almost got in a fight with You mean the picture
that he almost dad, I'll call him, I'll call him,
but think about it. Otherwise, it was a quiet week.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
I mean, like the reports of how much security around
New Orleans. Obviously we go back to New Year's even
New Year's Day, uh and and acknowledgment of the tragedies there,
so heightened security, a lot of questions of getting in
and out of the game, particularly once President Trump and
other luminaries start to show up. What's gonna do there?

(23:55):
But otherwise, like we didn't have any you.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Know, drunken brawls between X players and whatever. Like we
got this now, yeah, this is it. This is it.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
So for the NFL, it's alumni base, those associated with
teams and the families thereof good job.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
I mean, I didn't escape, we didn't escape Super Bowl
that no, there's this video got out.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Why did everybody tell me that's so close?

Speaker 4 (24:20):
We did have Eagles fans burning Kermit the fraud and
stuff yelling blank Taylor Swift Yeah yeah, no she she
wore it a bit boy.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Yeah, but I mean I didn't I didn't think.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
I mean, this is the first time we've talked about
John Rocker in fifteen years.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Fifteen years. I want to say, you want to go
John Rocke store.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
I remember this is after his whole controversy where he
did an interview with Sports Illustrated and he talked, you
know a lot about different races and said some things
that were really yeah, you know, and here's some guy.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Really really I'm not going to go over it again,
but he based, you know, then he flamed out. Is
his major league baseball career flamed out? I remember when
I was at Fox Sports Radio the first time, and
and I was on it was the co host and
in afternoons, and we got a photo saying, hey, John
Rocker's agent wants to put we want to put John

(25:17):
on the air. He's trying to be a baseball analyst now.
And we were like, okay, sure, okay, we'll have him on,
all right. We had him on once and he was fine,
and and and he the one thing I remember is
that he was talking and we had we had to
go because we had to go to we had to
go to like what was trending or back what we
call what was trending, you know, twenty fifteen, seventeen years ago.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
Uh, And it was like we had to go.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
He was still talking. I remember that was he was
still telling you to no, no, dude, we gotta go.
It's done, It's done. And then that was I said, Okay,
well we have him on again. I guess I don't
know him. He's not my decision. And and that was it.
Do we never never had him on again.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
That was it. Would you believe that.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
Was already nineteen that was nineteen ninety nine. Yeah, I'm
not seeen that like the blink of the eye.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
And like as to the passage of time in our lives,
and like we always you know, talk about seizing the
day and you know, find your wins in the moments
and whatever, like that's.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Literally nineteen ninety nine.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
Yeah, Like so there's a reality check, like we do
it with the juniors in the leagues, and certainly Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
We remember his career twins and many major league squads.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Rockers career an electric pitcher at his best and then
obviously disgraced thereafter.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
But wow, that that that is not on the Bingo card.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
No, if you told me Pat Mahomes was gonna make
I would say, Okay, that happened.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
Pat Mahomes sing everything about Pat Mahomes singer. Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
If you told me Jackson Mahomes, I said, yeah, okay,
But I told me Pat Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yeah. Have you said John Rocker? I said, what's he
gonna do?

Speaker 5 (26:46):
No?

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Him and Pat Mahomes are going to be well wait
they really they are.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Yeah, we're on Burning Street all right.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Then they're in a potential altercation outside of bar.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Did not see that now?

Speaker 3 (26:58):
And you guys saw that earlier today? And yeah, is
that is? This is real? Yeah? No it was. I'm like,
is it?

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Is it a guy that looks like Mahomes senior and
a guy who looks like John? No, no, it is
John Rocker And they're back and forth on social.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
Media up and then immediately like his litany of tweets,
like I know he's an active X guy, I mean
every once in a while, and he's got that that
ex athlete like the way he walks like like a
little like he's got that athlete who you could tell
he doesn't play anywhere playing on it, but he still
has that hold on.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
Yeah, he still has a little bit of that.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
But it looked like he walked overs like wanted to
shake Pat Mahomes' hand. Mahomes like, no, get out of here,
and then all of a sudden it really just escalates.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
Yeah, at first it was like, hey that guy, Yeah,
I remember you kind of moment crossed over and.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
He's Pat Mahomes and Chiefs gear topped bottom. Well, I mean,
leave no doubt about who, Like if you want to
go fight somebody, you want to go fight John Rocket
or where your dad? Where's something else? Where's something something
more neutral colors? And don't wear chief stuff dad get
in trouble.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
But isn't that normally one of the security briefings leave
the identifying jewelry home, Like if you have a Super
Bowl ring, don't wear that, well, you're actually just going
to a private to whatever.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Don't wear that, don't.

Speaker 4 (28:16):
Wear team paraphernalia, team related gear, all of that, Yeah,
try to blend in with the masses in Super Bowl week.
You might have a couple of guys with you that
are actually hired security, ex, police officers, whatever, but they're
not They're not wearing you know, giant badges identify good Lord.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
You know when it's funny you say that, you know
when I knew? Okay, So now to take you back
to that time. So in the late nineties was the
first time Fox made a run at doing a national
cable answer to ESPN, right, Fox Sports and Fox Sports
News what it was called Kevin Frasier, Van Old Wright,
John Walls, and they were all the hosts. I was

(28:59):
there as a producer and and it was kind of
like it was now where it was. It was built
to compete with ESPN. They had all the local rights
to a lot of games and they would show games
in local markets. So it was a pretty good way
to compete. And you know Fox Sports News gear like
the I knew the guy. I was really good friends
with a guy that was in charge of the quote
the Fox Sports News closet, and he would give out
stuff to Everybodybody would come in and give it out

(29:20):
give away. So gave away a lot of gear because
they wanted the gear to get out there. And my
friend told me. He says, oh, man, hey, I think
we've made it at Fox Sports. He was like, oh why.
He goes, ah, I was watching cops the other day
and it was in Long Island and they went to
go get somebody and they bring the guy out and
he's wearing a backwards Fox Sports news hat.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
I said, well, what was the crime?

Speaker 1 (29:41):
He goes, No, I think he was running from the
like I think he broke a window or something, or
everybod's running from the cops. He goes, it wasn't anything
really really bad, but they know they had him and
they had him in the cuffs.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
He was wearing a backwards I.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Said, did you give that hat? He goes, it must
have came from here. I don't know how it got
to him.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
I didn't do it. You can't. You can't tell me
I did it.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
I'm like, oh, okay, he goes, he said that we
made it where you know, we got a guy, we're
our gear.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
We got to rest it on. Is that why that
we don't get gear?

Speaker 5 (30:04):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (30:04):
No, I don't think it's a more rare thing.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Somehow, You know, A friend of a friend of a
friend gets it. No, no, no, no, what's happening with
the equivalent of Rob.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Parker has bought the rights to all the Fox Sports
radio gear, and that's why he sells stuff every couple
times a year.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
That's what he does. Rob Parker does that. He's got it.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
The Rob Parker House of Style is open a couple
of times year. He's got the big racks in our
kitchen like it's Ross or TJ Max. Like he's got there,
Oh look all those Fox Sports Okay, yeah, he would say,
just leave twenty five doll see it tomorrow, give it
to Rob g and give it to him and I'll
tell you all right. You know, hey, Rob, I took
I got a pair of shorts that I took, a
sweatshirt that's forty five dollars.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
You know, just leave it with Rob. I'll get it.
That's fine. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
So I think I think he I think he now
has the rights to produce all the Fox Sports radio gear.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
But I do like the Rob Parker house style.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
When when we have the big rack in the kitchen
that looks like a Ross.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Oh what size here? They see what size is this?
The sizes? Oh very good. Tysher was wearing a shirt
from the Rob Parker House of Style. Yeah today, Yeah,
do you have too many? Yeah? I can't get him
away at this point.

Speaker 5 (31:06):
No.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
See, that's where it's like, that's where I give it
to family members that I haven't seen in a while.
I'm like, oh, hey, so and so is having a
big holiday party. I haven't seen them. Oh no, I'll
give them a sweat and they think it's the greatest
thing in the world. Oh my god, I haven't seen
ty shirt and like, I haven't seen that. Not Ty
would call you, Alex. I haven't seen Alex in five years.
It came to the party and he brought me in
Fox Sports Radio sweatshirt. Man, it's so cool he's got

(31:27):
and he'll tell that story for the next like ten years.
He'll make sure whenever you go over, I wears that
sweatshirt that Alex gave me.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
I gotta wear it.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
I gotta wear That's the best thing in the world. Man,
that's the best. Take that and to say I need
a present.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Boom you use it. It's the best. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Because I need to be able to do a reboot,
because you know, we did that golf event ahead of
COVID right, and I got that cool polo. It's now
that I've lost the weight on the my PhD Weight
loss dot.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
I'm swimming in it. Man, so like we need it,
we need an update.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
All right, Well, I'll talk to Rob Parker. He just
did he might have a holiday holiday holiday. He might
have a post holiday clearance sale, because now we're outside
of the holiday. So I'll see what he's got going on.
I'll check it.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
I'll check it with Rob. We'll see what he's got.
I had a glizzy in my mouth. I'm not getting
busted for.

Tireck dot Com Studios. Now, Ryan Berschinger, who's in for
Justin Frostburg tonight. You have some thoughts on my Patrick
Mahomes impression from a few minutes ago.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Yeah, I said it sounded like Fat Albert was drowning.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
Got a throw that live preserver, Hey, Dom Donald.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Throw me that live preserve. Can we actually make Fat
Albert references anymore? Just the voice. I mean, I'm just
trying to make sure that's what I'm thinking about.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
I'm just saying for a couple of years, Weekend use
the phraseology of you know, and I don't have a
dog in the fight.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Yeah. No, true. You know, once Michael Vick, you know,
rose to prominence again, it was Okay, that's what it is.
I just can't. Let's kept this different thing. No, don't
think about it, fat Albert drowning, don't don't think about it.
Don't think about it now.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
I'm thinking about the greatness of that cartoon back in
the day.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Instead. Let's think about this, okay. Uh. Kellen Moore is
hired as the Saints head coach today. We thought this
was coming.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
It was sort of reported right before the Super Bowl.
The Saints, which had the final opening in the NFL
head coaching wise, becomes official today. First things first, if
you pulled the average NFL fan, not the bit but
just the average NFL fan, not the NFL fan that
does fantasy, not the the average NFL fan, I would

(33:51):
say forty percent of the average NFL fans. If you
said Kellen Moore, they would say, oh yeah, the backup
quarterback with the Cowboys. Yeah, right, he was still back
backing up Dak Prescott. He's the backup quarterback with the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
It's like you're Kenny Lofton theory, right, yeah. Yeah, And
people still think Kenny Lofton is playing.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
He plays that the field for the Indians. R Kenny
Lofton still playing.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
Yes, now we start getting into making the Hall of
Fame arguments for him. They sure guys that are getting in.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
Wow, is he are they waiving the five?

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (34:19):
Wa he still plays? Gonna go right? Would say, yeah,
get Kellen Moore, he's the backup quarterback hanging around as
a backup.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Yeah, no, I get it.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Yeah, same guy, think Cooper Rush Kellen Moore, same guy.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
Or that he'd been on if at worst that he
was on staff with the Cowboys, like some affiliation with
the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
All right, yeah, okay, but I really think backup quarterback?

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Do you think he's still there?

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Did you think at any point, like because this has
been just dating for the last couple of weeks and
certainly right ahead of the Super Bowl McCarthy quote pulled
out of the conversation, won't coach, did you think that
Sirianni and and Roseman would be able to keep him
from going because of the ca issues. Whatever you gotta

(35:01):
do with Derek Carr.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
No, it's Kellen Moore news. Kellen Moore knows the NFL.
When am I ever going to get a job like.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
I went this Bobby pros become a cautionary tale.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Maybe a little bit no.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Because you look at it and say, look at this process.
All the openings were terrible, the candidates were not great,
and I barely got this one, and I barely got
this job. I gotta go now. There's the other years.
The candidates will be better, the openings will be better.
I'm not going to be there. I gotta go now
because who knows. But the thing is, sometimes you accidentally

(35:34):
hit a home run and that's kind of what the
Saints did here. Because the thing about Kellen Moore is
that I really sneakily. I really like hiring him because
his last two stops, the offenses have both been really good,
and it's it's different personnel, it's different teams, you know
the Cowboys and now and now with the with the Eagles,

(35:55):
it's different strategy, different schemes. And still both of them
were top seven offenses when he was there with Dak Prescott,
or with Jalen Hurts with with no running game with
the Cowboys, or with Saquon Barkley that he had this year,
like he has made offense not just one guy like
a Ben Johnson, where hey, can you make it work
where you go? Who knows that you can't take golf

(36:17):
and Saint Brown and Montgomery and Jamier Gibbs with you.
Who knows he's going to be a good head coach?
At least you look at Kellam Moore and go, well,
he did it here with one set of talent with
the Dallas Cowboys, did it here with the Eagles and
won the Super Bowl. I feel pretty good that this
guy knows how to build an offense and can work
around the talent that he has. That's why they waited.
They couldn't get anybody else. It's an accidental home run

(36:40):
for the Saints.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Well, I look at this year and I think he
deserves more credit than he's gotten because a lot of
it has been Well, look at the personnel. You've got,
this offensive line, You've got these two great wide receivers
Dallas Goddard missed part of the season, but one of
the better tight ends International Football League, and obviously you
get the added bit of Barkley and the tush push

(37:01):
is there whatever, So folks have dismissed the spots that
Jalen Hurts has taken his shots right and what he
did in the Super Bowl was it overwhelming, but took
advantage of opportunities as they came, and they did a
good job of pulling the strings. Now we see them
in they're cash strapped and there's gonna be some challenges,
but it's not exactly a world beating division. Yeah, like

(37:25):
with a couple of tweaks, if you get the right
mix around and a lave comes back to the guy
he was in twenty two, well or twenty three, I
should say, then all of a sudden, maybe you got
a chance to compete.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
Yeah, it's an accidental hall.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
They couldn't got anybody, but you wound up with the
right guy for you telling you, I like what they did.
Coming up next, we got another big story out of
the NFL. Where's Sam Darnold gonna go
