Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour two The Jason Smith Show
with my I'm waiting for Alex Teicher to do something.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I don't know what's happening. He's just staring at you.
Wait do you want now?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
You're getting paranoid anything you just remember just because you're
paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
You took bridge of advice, you took the music out.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
I'm thinking something big is coming. An unbelievable turn of
events in the Ravens Bengals game. Right now, if you
wanted the over, we have the over. After the raven
get down the field for a touchdown and a two
point conversion to take a twenty eight twenty one lead.

(01:10):
This is a game the Bengals led twenty one to seven.
Things looked awful for the Ravens, but the Chase Brown
fumble seems to have ignited the Ravens. They go on
a big run. You just get a big touchdown pass
to Mark Andrews from about eighteen yards out and a
two point conversion run by Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
It is a.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Twenty one to zero run by the Ravens, and the
Bengals are suddenly looking for all kinds of help.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Well, well they sort of just got it.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Not that you wouldn't, but boy, I really hope you
played Jamar Chase tonight. Yeah, Jamar Chase catches a seventy
yard touchdown from Lamar Jackson from Joe Burrow. From Joe Burrow, Sorry,
Lamar Jackson got traded in game in games, a seventy
yard touchdown from Joe Burr straight down to the scene.

(02:02):
The game is tied to twenty eight a piece. Yeah,
red line, red line. Jamar Chase now nine catches two
hundred and thirty eight yards and two touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
He went the red line. Yeah to see that, and
he does the old I catch the ball at the
at the twenty yard line and.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I'm walking into the end zone, except he stops at
the goal line to run parallel along the goal line
all the way down the field, making somebody come over
to him. So he has to step over the goal line,
which is like the that's like the biggest jerk move
in sports. He's gonna feel that one the next time
he's on the field. I just gonna keep running along
until somebody comes over. And then when one of the

(02:41):
Ravens defensive backs comes running over towards him, he puts
the ball over the goal line for a touchdown. Nine
for two thirty eight and two touchdowns still with five
and a half to go in.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
The fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Now it's funny because they came back from the commercial
break and the change of possession with a shot of
ray Lewis up booth, Like, how about you go back
up to that booth right now? Let me see ray
Lewis after that play and after he does that dance
parallel to the goal line, let me add him now
because I know you're asking. He is still a ways

(03:16):
to go from the all time record, and look, this
is something that what's the numbers?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
You got?

Speaker 1 (03:21):
No, he's about one hundred yards away from it. Flipper
Anderson holds the record former Rams wide receiver nineteen eighty
nine three hundred and thirty six yards receiving him in
a game that is the all time record. So Jamar
Chase nine for two thirty eight is great, but he's
still one hundred, still got a ways to go. He
can catch a ninety five yard touchdown to win the

(03:41):
game and he still wouldn't have the record. Well, it's funny,
is the you know me and the trading card world.
They keep getting all these veterans to kind of offset
the cost of your higher price, you know, classic Hall
of Famers whatever. And I saw a guy rip a
box and it's one of these three hundred dollars jobs.
And the autogor that he pulled was a Flipper Anderson

(04:01):
and he started cursing, and I'm like, let me give
you a history lesson on Flipper Anderson.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
He's like, shut up, go away, jerky.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Meanwhile, as it looked like Lamar Jackson was just gonna
pull another rabbit out of the hat, a big scramble
was gonna create space get a first down. Lamar Jackson
avoids a sack, keeps the play alive long enough to
throw what right now is an interception Humphrey comes down
with it. It's an interception call on the field. However,

(04:33):
on replay the ball strikes the ground. That should be
an easy overturn and the Raven should wind up keeping possession.
This is not really close. I gotta feel that this
is gonna be a very quick review because you can
see the ball hit the ground and Lamar Jackson will
live to throw another day, where that could have an
absolute disaster for the Raven. Good break on the ball

(04:55):
and good diving effort, just couldn't complete the process of
the catch right. We go into the euphemisms we normally
use for wide receivers. That was al of an effort, though,
I can't tell is this a good game or a
bad game, Like.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
What we always say, it's just high scoring and.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
It's closed in a well played game or a not
well played, no terribly played game. These secondaries are awful.
But hey, and he finally has a chance to make
a play and he drops it. I feel pretty good
because I told you last night. Give me the Bengals
getting six and a half and the over. The over
is already cash. Didn't look like it at halftime, but
twenty eight twenty eight over is goal, you've got your

(05:33):
over and look justin Tucker after missing that, Pat, They're
just gonna go for the touchdowns, so I may still
get my minus six and a half.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
That's the thing. The hook. The hook now plays as
we get down the stretch here.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
So we'll have more NFL coming up in a bit.
But yet another day goes by and another Dodger player
who barely played in the World Series has a lot
to say about the Yankees, the lazy Yankees, and how
bad they played in the World Old Series. Shortstop Miguel
Rojas appears on Chris Rose's podcast and growing what is

(06:07):
now a joining Now what is a growing list of
Dodger players who really have no problem telling you, boy,
the Yankees are lazy, They're terrible.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Can you show us the scouting reports?

Speaker 1 (06:18):
At this point, ROAs telling Chris Rose in a podcast,
it's just gotten a lot of attention over the last
twelve to sixteen hours. The Yankees' weakness was the way
they make outs on the bases, the way they didn't
take care of the baseball.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
They're lazy defense.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
So there it is.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Yet another guy. We had Joe Kelly the other day
calling the Yankees lazy. Now you have Miguel Rojas called
the Yankees lazy.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
So did he listen to the show or was that
actually in their scouting report, because I think we kind
of did that throughout the playoffs, waiting for their come
up and stuff. Look, I'm not telling people how to
say and how to talk, but this is what we
said going into the World Series. It's very difficult watching
the Yankees succeed because they play horribly, horribly.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
They feel like they they're bad.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
It's tough watching a team like that succeed because you
want teams to succeed. At this point, Hey, we're playing
our best baseball. But the Yankees could out talent teams
for a while. And when you play close enough and
you get a big home run from Stanton or Judge
or Soto in the seventh, eighth, or ninth innings, yeah
you're gonna beat teams you outclass.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Everything was good for them.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
When the Astros and the Orioles got eliminated, they were
the teams that had the most possibility of beating the
Yankees because they give them a lot of trouble. But
the Yankees basically had two teams that they were able
to outclass and play horribly and beat and then they
get to the World Series.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Guess what.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Eventually the bottom of that miracle drawer, a socc drawer
is gonna come up empty. And they played badly, right,
And it's a It's not that the and I think
lazy is a bad word. It's not that the Yankees
played lazy, because it's when you say lazy, you you
the The general consensus is, Oh, here's a guy not trying.
Here's a guy that is not putting out a best effort.

(08:02):
And is anything I could see with the Yankees is
anything lazy? Was Aaron Judge lazy and dropping the fly
ball home? He was sloppy? Was was Vultuvoti sloppy? U
throwing the ball to third base? No, it was a
bad throat and a good play Bykey k Uh.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
You know what he was? Stanton lumbering?

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Was Garrett Cole lazy? Not getting differ No, he couldn't
get the first miscommunication.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Least, but I knew.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
But but the thing is, he couldn't get there, and
he wanted Rizzo to know. Rizzo's coming up thinking we're
gonna make the play at first, because this is how
it goes all the time that the ball is hit
to me, the picture comes over to cover. I know
Garrett's gonna get there. I'm trusting the four time gold
Glover on that one. You know what, I just lazy
is a bad word, but just they're not good fundamentally,
and it's lapses in concentration. It becomes nuanced.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
That's not that's not lazy. It's a nuanced thing.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
But in sports talk radio and TV and hot take nonsense,
when players want to get chesty, where do you go for?

Speaker 3 (09:01):
You go for the best word? Right, Yeah, I agree
with the sentiment.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
The sentiment was hey, because when the philosophy is the same,
When when the Dodgers, when the best team in baseball,
have the same philosophy and tell each other the same
things that I tell the girls that I coach in softball,
Hit the ball, make them make plays, good things will happen.
When that, when that message is the same, What to

(09:25):
tell you about how good a team that good the
Yankees are, don't worry about that. Make them make plays,
good things will happen. Hit the ball on the ground,
good things will happen. Don't worry. Trying to keep the
message simple for them.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Like the Dodgers. They are going, we just got to
make them make plays. And look what happened.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
The Yankees throw up on themselves. Right, lazy is bad,
but I get that now. Oh we found a word.
We found a word we love using, the lazy Yankees,
the lazy. It's a good headline, Yankees. Right, we always
talk about bad headlines and things that you don't want
to be in the news for, right, you don't. You
don't want to be D'Angelo Russell after last night, after
that Q and A. You don't want to be JJ

(10:00):
Reddick after that Q and A. All of that, But
this one.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Yeah, if you're a Dodger player fan, you're loving this.
You'll print this out.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
You put it up on the billboard, and in New
York it becomes the back of the fish rap another
Dodger player.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Way do we see them again? Yeah? That means you're
back in the World Series.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
So you've had another great year and now here's another
opportunity to gag it away. So yeah, it's be an
agent of chaos is really what it comes to. Going
to make you make mistakes, because we know you're gonna
make mistakes, right, all right, put the ball on net
put the ball in play, make the defender have to
make a decision right when when you're running between first

(10:39):
and second base. What happened on the judge fly ball.
All it took was a momentary lack of concentration. Keky Hernandez,
I might be able to throw them out and I
drop it. But again, that's not lazy. That's that's a
bad play. That's a lack of concentration, and that's not
being good defensively. I mean that's where when you can
sit there and say, I mean, this is where the
Yankees have to have that look in the your moment

(11:00):
and say, we made it to the World Series, but
do we need some kind of overhaul?

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Because when when when you can?

Speaker 1 (11:05):
We keep looking at the team that beat us saying
all they keep saying is we knew if we hit
the ball to you we would win. What does that
tell you? I mean, we knew if we hit the
ball to you we would win. I mean, there's there's
nothing more deflating and embarrassing. Then we know you couldn't
make the plays you needed. Now, if I were Kelly
and or Rojas, you know what I would do. I

(11:27):
would say, all right, guys, we're passing the hat and
we're gonna send a lazy boy out in front of
Yankee Stadium with their logo onning here.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
It is a gift from us to you. Jason. There
is one thing way more embarrassing. I can't believe you
didn't even bring this up. Oh okay, what's that bringing
Fount Joe out? Oh well, that wasn't lazy.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
That was just a bad No, not lazy, just a
bad decision.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Who are they going to bring out instead? Rick Patino?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
What you saw He made another another appearance this week
that didn't go so well for him either. Hey, and
then you know where his support was. See, the Yankees
are bringing out Pete Alonzo. Hey, he may sign with
us next year. So today we're excited to have Pine
Alonzo here.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
All right, scot.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Boys, Kate all uh, you know, Honey, with his discussion
of Pete Alonzo, it might be the polar opposite.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
I see what you in there. Yeah that was what
he said. Yeah, well, I agree.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
With everything going on with you, right. We told you
this from the beginning. That's why it's tough watching the
Yankee succeed. I gotta say, I think I would like
someone who played more than an inning in the World Series,
or who played in the World Series at all to
be the one saying, hey, the Yankees are lazy, right
because he did. Rojas barely played, Kelly barely played.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
And these are the guys going, yeah, man, we knew
all we had to do. Is this you okay, you
really didn't do anything.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Not that Freddie Freeman has to be saying this, or
Rookie Betts has took well, you can't, you can't. You
can't play what Key k says on the air because
he curses all the time.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
Can't say it. Doesn't mean he didn't say.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
It, though, if you can't listen to it without a bleak,
does he really say it?

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Does it he? No?

Speaker 3 (13:00):
I don't know, by the way. I mean, you want
to talk about a guy.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
He's gonna get a statue players might become mayor if
he wants to. But I would like somebody who at
least had a little bit more skin in the game.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Yeah, but that's you, most folks.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
If he's wearing a Dodger hat and they put Dodger
on the chiron right on the lower third graphic Joe Kelly,
Los Angeles Dodgers doesn't matter. Casual fan thinks he's hitched
nine innings. He's great.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Yeah, no, no, no, I got it. They think, oh, Kelly,
did he pitch?

Speaker 4 (13:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (13:29):
I remember that guy that was That was the Mariachi
jacket guy.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
I just like something who played a little bit more guy,
someone who could wat You look at the people like that,
someone who can finish the game and say, okay, I
need my jersey watched because it got dirty because I
played today.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
So I mean I would like that a little bit.
I would just glad to say, just a little bit. Meanwhile,
for all his misery, at least Vargas gets a ring.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Right exit out out of Fresco exit Swalling down The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the tirac
dot Com studios. Right now, the Ravens looking to put
the finishing touches on a win over the Bengals. They
have the ball second in goal at the Bengals five
yard line two minute warning, so they're looking at either

(14:10):
a touchdown the next couple of plays or a field
goal to take the lead. If the Bengals stop them,
they do have a timeout left, they will get the
ball back with a little bit of time if the
Ravens are able to convert a field goal. So you're
hoping for a field goal coming up next? Are we
talking about the Ravens snatching a victory from the jaws

(14:30):
of defeat when they had the victory one? Or are
we going to be going to overtime that more?

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Next?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the
tire rack dot Com studios, and we got a little
bit of controversy going on right now.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Ravens trying to hold on.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
They lead the Bengals thirty five twenty eight, big touchdown
pass and Lamar Jackson Rashad Bateman giving them the lead.
But Joe Burrow and the Bengals get the ball back
plenty of time a buck forty nine left. However, first
three plays incomplete passes. On fourth down, the Bengals catch

(16:00):
of pass right at the sticks, and it looked like
it was a first down.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
It looked like the.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Ball was extended over the line, looked like.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Maybe it was right on the line.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
The officials gave the Bengals a first down and then
they said, hang on, let's take a look at this.
It is right on the line. And I think this
is a case where, hey, the call on the field
was a first down because you could see the place
where the ball comes down on the ground and maybe
it was pushed out a little bit before. I think

(16:34):
this is gonna wind up staying a first down for
the Bengals.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
I see it.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I think it's gonna be really difficult to say Hey,
we're gonna reverse this and go back. I think it's
gonna wind up being a first down. Yeah, I think
ultimately you don't have enough to draw it. It was
to where you can say you have definitive evidence, right,
and Harbaugh already had one challenge that yeah used terribly.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
I mean, to start the game, if they.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Said no, no first down, if they said no first down,
it would be.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Hard to overturn it.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
But they ruled it for a first down, and that's
exactly what we're getting. The officials just make the call
as a first down for the Bengals. So first and
ten from their own forty yard line again, a buck
twenty one left to go. This has been a back
and forth slug fest in the second half, and really
the Ravens were woken up. And nobody plays flat more

(17:25):
often than the Ravens do. I mean, they're a really
good team and they come out flat. Okay, the Jets
are flat, but the Ravens are a better team. And
they got woken up by the Chase Brown fumble. Chase
Brown fumbles on a drive in which the Ravens had
looked bad so far. Tonight they were getting to Lamar Jackson.
You didn't have anywhere to go, and all of a sudden,
this fumble wakes the Ris up. They go win for
a touchdown, They go on a twenty one zero run

(17:48):
take the lead, and now it's been a back and
forth slug fest. But they were woken up after that
Chase Brown fumble. And now here we are the Bengals
saying what just happened to us? We're in control of
this game. We're up by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter,
and now we're chasing seven with a minute a half left
to go. It's all an effort by josavash to come
down with the ball and extend to give them a chance.
But still a lot of work for Joe Burrow to

(18:09):
do here. Uh the big plays just started mounting up
in the second half. Really, I mean it was boring
as hell. Yeah, halftime, we come on air. It's like,
all right, what have we got? It's a defensive battle.
Where are all the points we had the over where
are all the points points there?

Speaker 3 (18:24):
And then it parted like the red sea and that
was the end of it.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Eight again, a minute left to go, Bengals driving. We'll
have more on this game coming up in a few
minutes and Steve de Sager will have what's trending for
you again Bengals driving minute, a little bit over a
minute left to go as the Thursday night football finally
turns good, finally got to go to points for Al

(18:51):
Michaels and for Kirk Kurbstream. It's a huge night. Now
somebody's gonna have to call Al a doctor in four hours.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
Yeah, il's gonna yeah, I's gonna have.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
A tough time with my I said, I wanted all
these good games.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Now all right, I got a good game.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I gotta stay awake now now in this drive, we
also have to make notes. They did have one of
the they just called a face mask as Humphrey grabbed
the yosevash going down the field. But we had a
blow to the face on Joe Burrow that was playing
his day. That wasn't calling really because I mean, people
are keeping score as to whose quarterback gets screwed the most.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
I know.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Harbaugh's been talking about it with Herbert in Chicago. They
talk about it with Caleb Williams here. Joe Burrow is
supposed to be one of your premiere guys here in
a standalone game, he got a big andre the giant
like pad of.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
The face and there was no flag on it.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason
Smiths with Mike.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Carmon live from the tirec dot Com Studios.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Boy, every time I want to say, hey, we'll get
back to something crazy happens in this game. The Ravens
just get called for roughing the passer. Joe Burrow gets
hit and they're probably gonna say he was driven into
the And here's the thing. They missed a big time
roughing the passer call on him earlier in the fourth
quarter where one of the rushers came off the edge

(20:08):
and after he threw the ball, it was a full
two steps and he got hitting the ribs and it
was a really bad miss. So this one a little
bit more. Was it really roughing the passer? Uh, maybe
they get him for a little bit of driving it
into the ground, but.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
The Road Warriors shook tackle full body.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Yeah, but it was kind of over another player, so
you could say, well, I gotta go down anyway, But
it doesn't matter. A completed pass to Jamar Chase plus
the fifteen yard penalty puts the Bengals just outside the
Ravens ten yard line with plenty of time left. There's
fifty four seconds left to go. Bengals need to get
in the end zone a tie this say, Now, if
he'd gone full Jimmy Superfly snook a flying cross body

(20:50):
block kind of thing, it might have been okay.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
But because he drove him to the turf, it was
a problem. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
But hey, here we go. We want excitement, We want
games to go down to the wire. Sure, you want
to battle, you want Joe Burrow to have his big
moments here it is. Now for the Ravens defense. Burrow
Ravens defense. Can they make a stand showing there's splendent
in their purple uniform, Raven's defense showing you, yes, we

(21:16):
are really this bad. I don't anybody think we are
really this bad. I tried to tell you. Look, And
that's the whole thing about the Ravens. As good as
they are, as great as they look. Offensively, it's the
best version of Lamar Jackson we have seen in his
entire career. We'll have more on that coming up. This
Ravens defense is just absolutely terrible. Joe Burrow has cooked
them for four hundred and twenty one yards. They haven't

(21:38):
run the ball, but it doesn't matter because they're throwing
the ball on every play.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
I wouldn't either if I'm averaging eight yards of pass
Jamar Chase ten for two point fifty nine and two touchdowns.
Chase Brown has eight catches out of the backfield, Like
this is this is another week of boy, what can
the rate? Can the Ravens actually be a team that
really cuts through? Because as good as they look offensively, wow,

(22:02):
you can do anything against this defense. Yeah, they get
no pass rush, and when they do, they're they're late.
Right as we've seen a couple of times Burrow's taken
a hit. Here's penalties or should have been penalties assessed
along the way, and he's just carved him up. And
look at a lot of space in that secondary. No
pass rush equals big gaping holes in what is a

(22:22):
depleted secondary. Tardavius White, who they just traded for, wasn't
up for this one, so he'll become part of the
mix next week. But he was a guy that was
struggling to get on the field for the Rams, and
they were just like, well, you want to take the
contract here, take them away, you know, and just for
a second, you know, we'll get to Steve Desagreth, what's
trending coming up in a minute. But just for a second,

(22:43):
let's have an appreciation moment because we forget sometimes because
you know, he gets hurt a lot, just how good
Joe Burrow is. I mean, it's like it's it's we
forget how good he is because look, last year, you know,
missed most of the season. Yes, he was healthy the
couple of years before that. Hurt is a rookie, he
misses some time, but when he plays, he is one

(23:06):
of the top five quarterbacks in the game. And not
only is he talented, and not only is he's kind
of like the like the new age Joe Montana know
is he talented. He is one of the toughest guys
because he gets drilled and gets up for the next play.
Like very few players in the NFL. He gets hit,
he gets up, it looks like he's gonna limp his

(23:26):
way through, and he's able to get up and throw
the next play. This guy is an absolute leader, and
leaders make big plays, none bigger than what we just
saw a second ago. Another touchdown from Jamar chase a
nine yard to or seven yard touchdown pass to make
it a thirty five to thirty four game. And maybe
and hopefully Todd Bowles is watching right now, because the

(23:49):
Bengals are going for two thirty eight seconds left to go.
They're gonna go for two to try to win the game, obviously,
because you saw what happen when you give the ball
to a great quick in overtime, maybe you don't get
it back. They're going for two to go for the
win or at least the lead, because there is gonna
be thirty eight seconds left to go for Lamar Jackson
and company when they get the ball back. But this

(24:12):
is a gutsy call, but it looks like it looks
like they're gonna let the time.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Tick down and take a penalty.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Maybe they were trying to get him to go off side,
and maybe they would go for it if they got
half the distance to the goal line, but they didn't
snap the ball, so instead of going for two, they
didn't get the Ravens to jump. So it looks like
it's gonna be an extra point to tie this game,
and Lamar Jackson will get the ball back with thirty
eight seconds left to.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Go looking for what could be a game winning field goal.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
That was fun though, watching the setup of the offense,
the motion and the alignment of the wide receivers.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Right away, Burrow put his hands up too. We're going
for two. We're going for two.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
We have Chase Brown on his right, Drew Sample goes
in motion. One of their tight ends lines up next
to Burrow and then it starts to to tick down.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
It's like, all right, what do we got all the
wait a minute? Way? We got to reverse the fortune here.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
The Bengals are gonna go for it, calling the time out,
They're going for it. They're going for two points here
from the two yard line. Maybe they didn't like the lineup,
they didn't like what they saw. They go for two
and Burrow's throw is incomplete. He goes for Hudson and
the ball goes through his hands. Burrow got blown up

(25:27):
again on the play, so we're gonna see an on
sidekick coming from the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals are looking
for interference. Hudson is looking for a call. He's not
getting it. They threw it to him on the goal
line and the pass was broken up a little too high,
and so now, barring a successful on side kick, it's

(25:49):
gonna be the Ravens escaping with a one point win.
We'll have more on this coming up in a second,
but first, specially delivery.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Steve de Seger has what's trending in the wide world.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Of sports, including a complete breakdown stat wise of Steve,
what's the percentage chance success of teams a call timeout
and then go for two point conversion?

Speaker 3 (26:08):
In the NFL? What's for that?

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Not good?

Speaker 5 (26:10):
If one of your receivers is completely held at the
goal line and it's not.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Called inside of five yards, Baby, let's go.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
That's right. You can do anything you want.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
The Ravens lead thirty five thirty four over the Bengals
with thirty eight seconds left. By the way, the Ravens defense,
specifically the pass defense, has been this bad all year long,
easily the worst in the NFL. An average passing game
against Baltimore this year is over two hundred eighty yards
through the air. Joe Burrow has four hundred and twenty

(26:40):
eight yards passing and four touchdowns, three to Jamar Chase,
including the one they thought would tie the game here
in the final minute of regulation. Lamar Jackson is twenty
five of thirty three passing two hundred and ninety yards
fur tds to four different receivers, Derrick Henry with sixty
eight yards rush, but the team has exactly one hundred

(27:03):
yards rushing. And that's notable because now for the Ravens,
this is forty three straight games with one hundred yards
rushing or more, which ties their own NFL record. Last hour,
I'd mentioned the incredible ten yard scramble Lamar Chase had
to set up a Derrick Henry one yard td next,
jen Stat said that scramble. First off, Jackson scrambled around

(27:26):
ten seconds before even crossing the line of scrimmage. Then
he went down the sideline all the way to the one,
but he in fact did travel fifty eight yards on
that ten yard scramble.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
The Baltimore quarterback, so.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
Lamar Jackson, who had not been down two touchdowns in
any home game in the last three years, will apparently
come from twenty one to seven down early third quarter
and win this because Baltimore has just recovered the declared
on sidekick. It's gonna be a Baltimore home win. Cincinnati
is out of timeouts thirty seven seconds left, thirty five

(28:04):
thirty four Ravens in the league. Jamar Chase was targeted
seventeen times by the Bengals. He'll finish with eleven receptions,
two hundred and sixty four yards and three scores, but
Cincinnati's going to fall to four and six on the season.
Wide receiver t Higgins was out again with a quad injury.

(28:24):
The Ravens will be seven and three. Jacksonville quarterback Trevor
Lawrence is likely out this weekend with a left shoulder injury.
The forty nine Ers expect running back Christian McCaffrey to
return to play Sunday. Carolina gave running back Chuba Hubbard
a four year extension. Bill's wide receiver Keon Coleman miss
practice again today with a wrist injury. Saints wide receiver

(28:45):
Chris Olabbe did not practice due to his concussion, and
Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton misspractice due to a concussion.
He will miss Sunday's game in Munich. The Florida Gators
say Billy Napier will continue to be their head coach.
Friday night on Fox TEA, the Iowa at UCLA three
NBA games Tonight wins for Minnesota San Antonio and Milwaukee

(29:06):
beat Utah at a battle of one in six teams
one twenty three to one hundred. Damian Lillard thirty four points.
Tyrese Maxey of Philadelphia could miss multiple weeks with a
strained hamstring. He'll be reevaluated in about a week. In
the NHL, Minnesota is winning again early second period, two
nothing the lead at San Jose. Already Winnipeg won again,
thirteen and one record. Jets won nothing over Colorado. Victories

(29:30):
for Florida, Buffalo and Carolina one. It's eighth in a row.
It is a final at Baltimore. The Ravens edge the
Bengals thirty five, thirty four.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Back to you, Thank you, STEVEO.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Coming up next, we got Jay Glazer stopping by all
the latest off of this game? Are the Ravens really
that good? Is there anybody tougher in the NFL than
Joe Burrow?

Speaker 5 (29:51):
All?

Speaker 3 (29:51):
The latest news? We got glazed and confused?

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Coming up next, right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio. Someday, O,

(30:19):
my life hast passed me by, Leave around in wonder
why is there for me?

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Livemthatirack dot Com Studios. The Ravens Escape
and a Thursday Night thriller. They beat the Bengals thirty
five thirty four. The Bengals go for two with thirty
five seconds left to go and incomplete pass and two

(31:01):
miss penalty calls easy that should have been thrown against
the Ravens that are not. Joe Burrow gets hitting the
face mask, not called, Mike Azicky is held like crazy,
not called. And with every passing day that something like
this happens, I always come back to our next guest
idea special Forces guys in the NFL making calls as

(31:24):
referees and officials. That's the brainchild of one Jay Glazer,
who joins US now NFL on Fox Insider. Check him
out on Twitter at Jay Glazer Glazeer's up, buddy, Hi, going.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Living and dream man, how you guys doing?

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Telling you man.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
Every time I see those plays, I think think about
Special Forces guys running up and down the field getting.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
The calls right.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
Hey, they got a better chance to be in position, right,
the great and chaos. I still think it's a great
idea actually talking about that. We are actually doing a
two hour special uh this weekend foxing about Thundery. We're
going down to a naval amphibious face from corn so
we're working with the Navy shield down there. Also, it's
going to be it's our best show we do every year. Man,
we love our veteran say show.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Wow, that's awesome, that's a cool you know.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
But but yeah, and you say that you talk about
being good in chaos, because it's these are the plays
that really stand out, Jay, the winner lose plays right
at the end of overtime, the end of regulation where
it's a fourth and goal play or something. It's these
winner lose plays where you go, wow, how is there
no flag thrown on that? And having that grace and
chaos is really a big thing.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Well usually we got upset that a flag was thrown.
Flag on that in both ways. But yeah, look, I
went to the league ten years ago at this idea.
Our expecial down who've had a football experience so they
understand the game. Also, but a they're great and chaos,
They're gonna be a better ship to put themselves in

(32:50):
bed position. He the head coaches are not going to
curse these guys out during games.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
No, it's it right.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
I mean you want to talk about being in control
and being able to get yourself in.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
Positions see playoffs.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Man, yep, because we saw you want listen.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Listen. The problem is that the officials, look, guys, I'm
kind of sick of talking about it over and over
that when we talk about it constantly and it's like
it's it doesn't change. But you know again, you when
you have guys who are so much sway over what

(33:26):
happens in these games, these billion dollar businesses, and you
just say, man, they just keep going with the same
thing over and over and over and over instead of saying, hey,
is there a better solution? I think buys a much
better solution. But at least try something that's a better solution.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Do something even if it's wrong. Hey, Decision twenty four continues.
You want Lamar or Burrow? You want Lamar or Burrow?

Speaker 3 (33:50):
If I got, if you had to choose, if you
had to choose, you got.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
Man, You're You're I'm having a hard time hearing now.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
Just asking it whether you'd have Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow.
Who's your team?

Speaker 4 (34:00):
God? Oh god, man, well, Ponta Lamar just what's going
on in the seasons. Unbelievable, Oh my god, Joe Burwer, Lamar,
Chase and you know he goes with Chase and they
still can't stop him. It's you know, the Rapiers defense
and tough defense usually have been tougher in the past,
but man, Lamar Jackson that play at the end where
he just kind of jumps up and man, I've never

(34:21):
seen something like that. That was unbelievable, And you know,
it's you know the problem with with Lamar is you
got to keep your eyes on him so much so
it hurts you kind of on the back end a lot,
you know, and he's just man, especially when they get
Derrick Henry going more and more and more and more.
It's just like it's a pick your poison offense. What
are you can do? Who you gonna stop?

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Is this the best?

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Because I look at Lamar this year and you see
the confidence and the ease with which he makes plays.
This is the best he's been in his career.

Speaker 4 (34:54):
Yeah, not just the Yeah, yeah, it's definitely a confidence.
But he's like, man, he's like he has, he's assured
himself that he's gonna go and take it. But I
just think he's a lot more electric, He's a lot
more dynamic. He's and that some of it is I
think it's confidence, and some of it is the fact
that they got Derek her Andy every sitting back there

(35:15):
and again, if you want to just focus on Lamar,
then Derek's gonna got you. If you want to sit
there and try and take away the runs, then Lamar's
gonna got you.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Jake, we had the trade deadline earlier this week. Was
there anything eleventh hour that just couldn't come together in
the last minutes where we.

Speaker 4 (35:33):
Were look I think everything we thought was gonna happen.
He went on Fox on Front there I said, well,
Washington's gonna they're gonna market for a corner. We talked about,
you know, the Cleveland pass rusher going uh to the
Lions about Wright. Lions. Still they have not ruled out
a Hutchinson getting back for like Layton postseason or super Bowl.

(35:56):
But you know, you know, there is trying to think
if there's anything else Steelers we knew we're looking for
a receiver. Huston was looking for a receiver. Couldn't pull
that off. It wasn't anything where there's somebody else looking
for rechi. I know Atlanta was looking for a pass rusher,
Arizona was looking for a pass rusher. Who else was
looking for a receiver? I don't remember somebody else is

(36:17):
looking for a receiver. It's all my head's sending from it. Also, well,
not only that, we had a trade deadline and then
that kind of goes crazy. And then yesterday we had
these fires in Malibu and Rosie and I evacuate and
got caught up in one of the fires. It was
pretty wild, and you want to talk about people who

(36:40):
are great in chaos, Like I thought for sure. We
had one hundred one hundred bi fire farm winds in Malibu,
and I was like, oh man, this is going to
go crazy. And we still have been at our house.
Rosie and I are displaced right now, hoping to go
back tomorrow before we go down to San Diego. But man,
the fire department in Malibu and the Los Angeles part

(37:00):
of the Department of the Sheriffs, they came together so
fast because we started driving and there are two houses
that just went They're God and I was like, oh, man,
here we go, and man, you want to talk about
a great office of defensive coordinator is Malibu Fire Department
that I own a lot o.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
I know you talked about him, you gave him shout
outs on your Twitter page too, And I'm glad you
and Rosie are safe. Everything is good. And of course
I know you had another great unbreakable podcast with week.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
You'd like Florio on with you this week?

Speaker 4 (37:28):
Yeah? Yeah, But pur poball talk is had a gospel right.
Everybody looks at it. You were constantly checking your phone.
They don't say whatever they want about Mike, and they
get up set of that this or not. But man,
you constantly refresh your browser to see what's going on.
It's a fire for the league. And I've known the
guy forever And I was like, you know, I don't
know how it all came about. I want to know

(37:49):
how this whole thing came about. He went from you know,
being a lawyer to doing this. How did it come about?
And I just love to hear these stories about what
people do. You know, that aren't the normal things. You know,
it's not a normal process of how most people get
to where they are. His were certainly different. You got
a tune in. It was really well pluck where he's
really cool as he wrote a book said he is

(38:12):
that just went on sale and he's like, Jay, give
me your charity that you wanted to go to. And
I was like, you know what, my boy, Michael Phelps,
he's my mental health buddy. He does so much for
mental health. So half the first season book go to
the Michael Felps Foundation, which.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
Is amazing, great stuff. Jay.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
Check out the link on his Twitter page at Jay
Glazer Pro Football Talk celebrating its twenty third birthday. Jay
gets in deep with it with Mike Floria. Jay has
always got.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
On to cry too, got to cry, got.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
You did you? Got Malorio to cry?

Speaker 4 (38:42):
What right?

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Well?

Speaker 1 (38:45):
He took over for Oprah getting people to cry. Hey,
I know it some kind of last couple of days.
Thank you so much as always, glad you and your
family are safe.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Man.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 4 (38:55):
Thanks. I appreciate you well, all right man, Jay.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
Great stuff from Yeah you've said about that big fires
the last couple of days, one hundred mile an hour wins.
It's been but like the video of it is amazing.
I was listening to some of the fire chief press
conference coming in as it was driving in today and
just kind of talking about how quickly it spread, the devastation,
but then the mobilization of all the individual surrounding areas

(39:19):
to get things deployed and to battle it as well
as they did. Just absolutely amazing exit out about a
Fresca exit swollen dome. The Jason Smith Show with Mike
