Let's give this part. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I just want to thank Jason Smith. I'd like to
thank Mike Harmon. I'd like to thank Alex Tyshert and
above all else Brian Finley. Now we can do it
out the last one.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
And I'd like to thank the Lakers for being down
almost twenty.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Early. They got it write where they want them.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Speaking of early, so earlier today, like what is happening?
What's going on? People doing a Jason? What are they
doing to my guy, Jason Smith? So earlier today. I
filled in on AM five seventy here at Los Angeles
with Fred Rogan, the Dean of Los Angeles. And afterwards,
because I'm a guest, they asked me to Phil. I
thanked the crew for a big day. I thank the
crew and now everybody's upset that I don't thank the

(01:19):
crew on every night here on the show. So let
me say thank you to Alex Teichert. Thank you to
Justin Frosburg. Thank you to Brian Finley who barbecues the
updates every single night. Thank you everybody editing.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
You cut out that for a secondhen you were thanking.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Me, I would say, I need to need to say
my name again.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Save my name.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Thank you to Alex Tyshert for and and to get
in into detail here for a big second. Thank you
to Alex Tischer because I understand that uh playing Fortnite
and recording his anome podcast. The show kind of runs
it into the same time as that, so I appreciate you,
uh putting that to the back burner to actually get
the show on the air.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
You're very welcome, Jason.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I want I want to want to thank and and Justin.
I want to thank you for coming in at least
two out of five nights every week in the fall
during football season. That's it's a really big I know
you have other stuff going on in the charges, but.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
You must be looking at your schedule.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Thank you, thank you for those two out of five
nights coming in and working. Thank you, I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Oh and then he does the dot dot dot and working.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Wow, here we go. Goodness. Yeah, so and and thank
you Mike Harmon for for everything. Thank you for helping
me navigate my UH compliance training yesterday on the internet.
Thank you very much for that.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Solid as a rock.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I am thank you ahead of time for the pizza
tomorrow night we're going to have.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
So you should thank me for driving in the rain today.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Thank you. I was really good. Was it raining really hard?
When you're driving in you wouldn't know?

Speaker 4 (02:52):
No, no, because I saw the rain, I said no,
I'm going to do the show from home. Well it
was actually bad, bad enough by me that in southern California.
For the nationwide audience, everything crawls to a halt and
it gets really ugly. You'll see a lot of video
of maybe some low speed traffic chases that mix in
with all of the accidents. They actually canceled my daughter's

(03:13):
soccer workout tonight, which never happens. They are the most stubborn.
It's like when I was growing up in Chicago's like
we canceled first snow, No, get on the bus, you
get there when you get there. Okay, same thing here.
They never canceled there, like, yeah, the field is the
ward line? Look like it?

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Really? When aig, well, it's.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Found off under there, I tell you.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
And speaking of low speed chases, I want to make
that segue. The Lakers are losing by twelve to the
Sacramento Kings a couple minutes ago before halftime sixty five
fifty three, though Lebron has just hit a three to
make it a twelve point game. Lakers playing second night
of back to backs and this is not an in
season tournament game for the Lakers, expect them to lose

(04:00):
by thirty? I mean, really, what I mean if you
don't have the extra juice? Now, this is what you
open the door to the excitement of the in season tournament.
If you're Adam Silver, how do you expect these teams
to just go back to normal the next night? The
Lakers had the incredible excitement and playing the Grizzlies of
last night's big win thirty point win. I think the
Lakers pregame show was four hours long in getting ready

(04:22):
for that game. And now here they are at first
seed overall in the in season tournament. How can they
come back the next night and just play a regular
season game. Come on here, that's insulting the Lakers to
do that.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Now, on the plus side, the players on the team
that win the in season tournament championship, they get a
cool five hundred g So, I mean there is some incentive,
even even when you're getting a contract worth millions. In
a lot of cases, the guys at the end of
the bench don't so five hundred thousand dollars stuff in

(04:53):
the sneeze.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
We're doing it for the trophy. Mike, Well, I mean,
you want to.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Hang another banner.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
You're looking to put number eighteen up or seventeen and
a half, however you want to do it.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
And every member of a winning team gets an Armatroan
watch courtesy of Armatron. Oh, the brand new time keeping
piece that everybody's going to want. Plus an extra special
NBA hat presented by Carnation Milk. You get a nice
looking NBA hat with a Carnation logo on the back. Oh,
for every member of a winning team. That's the swag

(05:23):
bag you get for the end season NBA.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Jason, if the winner got McDonald's for life, you'd be
into this.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Dude, are you kidding, I'd be playing in this Lakers
would find a way to get me on the floor.
Give it to me, man, I'm gonna make it dude,
but you're five night. Just give it to me. I
could get free Big Max for life. You give me
that ball and you get out of my way. Screw you,
Walston Reeves. I'm the new Captain America and I would
just start I would just start shoot. I'd be the
guy like shooting and turning away going it's going, it's going,

(05:50):
it's going. I did everything. Man, you put the right
motivation in front of me, I'd do it. I'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Now.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I'm thinking, is there a way you can get free
McDonald's restle life?

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Well, I mean there's you know, you can stage in
an incident with you know, coffee other thing like tell
me what I won't take you. I won't take the
the the dollars, but you know what if you give
me the never ending gift card.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Okay, I'll be like, look like Kray America. Sure.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:20):

NBA on the way. But another big nugget dropped today
in the never ending Aaron Rodgers saga every day he's

(06:43):
coming back. He's coming back soon. He's coming back soon.
He's coming back soon, he said earlier this week. Hey,
maybe mid December is what his target comeback date is
going to be, which suddenly, wait a minute, that's not
even Christmas Eve. That's maybe a week or two earlier.
He gonna come back. Will there be time? Today, Jets
head coach Rob Sala, while he's still Jets head coach,

(07:07):
was asked about Aaron Rodgers timeline, and hey, is Aaron
Rodgers really gonna come back to play? And here's what
the Jets had the current Jets head coach because maybe
in a few weeks he won't be. But what the
current Jets head coach had to say about Aaron Rodgers
and his return, Oh, I thought he had the Robert
Sala said. Sala said, if Aaron Rodgers wants to play,

(07:30):
he'll play. That's it. If Rogers wants to play, He'll play.
Like I'm not making this decision. Joe Douglass isn't making
this decision. No, no, no no. If if Aaron Rodgers
wants to play, he will play.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
So you know, it was like a logical way to
run something.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, well, listen at this point, who would I'd rather
have making decisions with the Jets, Robert sala or Aaron Rodgers.
I'd rather have Aaron Rodgers because I've seen Robert Salam
make decisions and this is where we are. Despite the
fact we have a talented roster, We're still not winning.
So I think, yes, I would rather have Aaron Rodgers.
I get that it's just.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
More of the you know, oftentimes in sports, and we
look at the larger picture and say, all right, what's
our end game here, what's our ceiling? And do we
have to protect the player from himself and thereby protect
ourselves from the player's bravado and you know, sense of invincibility.

(08:28):
And I get it.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Rogers have been pretty open about, you know, the brokenness
he felt and sadness he felt, you know, in the.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Injury and the recovery and the rehab process. I get
that that doesn't mean you acquiesce altogether. And I want
like fifteen doctors to look.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
At him if I'm the Jets, because behind that offensive line,
how many snaps are we talking.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Before that first hit of weight? Is he getting up?
It's like watching Anthony Davis when he falls down in
a Laker game. How long does it take to get up?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
He's gonna go to the locker room that he's gonna
come back, or non tournament game, you know what, for
the sake of this argument, let's go non tournament.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Game runs and he's never getting up.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Yeah, So that's it for for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
It's it's that fear of all right, whatever this cure
and rehab processes, the surgery or extent of the injury,
whatever you want to believe. In that continuum between the
day he got hurt and left the field to where
he is now, we are we buying that he's gonna
be able to take a normal hit from a linebacker.

(09:37):
I don't know that. I am, well, a couple of
steps here and there and winging the ball fifty yards.
I never questioned the man's arm strength, or his velocity
or any of that stuff, But mobility has.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
Long been his playing card.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
To get over the top right, extending plays, waiting for
a break in the defense and then being able to
zip the ball in.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Is that going to be there? Because if that's not,
I might as well bring Dan Marino out of retirement.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Wow with Isotona gloves throwing the ball and the winter.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Uh never threw a pass A bad pass either, always
the receiver's fault.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Aaron Rodgers wants to keep playing, and I know that
you get caught up in the emotion of wanting to
play for your new team and not feeling you're not contributing.
And maybe he would be rushed back. But I gotta
think there's enough doctors. There's enough because you know, he's
not gonna not talk to the doctors that he likes,
you know, I mean, I mean, who knows he talks
to doctors that actually, you know, have degrees. But you
know there's gonna be doctors he talks to. He's gonna

(10:34):
go very in depth before he makes this decision, right,
So I don't worry about that so much as much
as I go. People aren't seeing the forest through the
trees here. If Aaron Rodgers is gonna come back in
mid December, the Jets have to be in it. The
Jets aren't gonna be in it in mid December. Aaron
Rodgers isn't gonna come back because he's not gonna risk

(10:54):
coming back and playing when the Jets are out of
the playoff race. And the Jets are gonna be out
of the playoff race, they're basically almost out now. They'll
be out completely if they lose to the Bills on Sunday,
which is likely gonna happen because they can't score points.
They just can't do it. If they can't beat the Raiders,
who's staking starting a rookie quarterback, You're gonna beat the Bills. No,

(11:15):
it's not gonna happen. And they're gonna be four and six.
They're not a team that's gonna go on a run
and win four in a row. And Rogers is coming
back and suddenly it looks great. The Jets stink. They're
gonna be out of the race. By the time you
get to middle December, they're gonna be five and eight.
Let's say the earliest he comes back is week fourteen,
right when he's got four games left. Right, that's the
early as he could possibly come back. They're gonna be

(11:38):
five and eight by then, because the schedule is Buffalo, Miami,
then they have Atlanta and Houston. I'll give the Jets
winning one of those games now, probably not against Buffalo,
not against Miami.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Probably them.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
I'll give them either Atlanta or Houston, because you never
know rookie quarterback CJ. Stroud what happens to him in
four weeks as great as he is, and he's the
MVP of the league right now. But Atlanta, you don't
know where they're gonna be. So that's the one I'm
looking at. But I'll say they're five and eight. Is
he coming back at their five and eight?

Speaker 4 (12:04):
No?

Speaker 1 (12:05):
I mean, I know you can say, oh, but they
gonna win the last right, No, he's not, and go
nine to eight and maybe get it. No, So everybody's
missing that part of it. Rogers isn't gonna come back
because the Jets aren't gonna be in it. He's he's
throwing it out there and holding it open that I
can come back. I can come back. And he's even
saying earlier and earlier to tell the Jets just get
together and focus and just do it so I can

(12:26):
come back. And he's trying to help them say, just
you don't have to hold on as long as you
think I will come back and save everything, you know,
because of the kind of the complex he has that
I'm the greatest. But he's doing all of this tome
just to But the Jets aren't gonna survive that. If
they couldn't survive now against teams where they should have
been beating, you're talking about losing two teams that were awful. Vegas,
the Las Vegas Raiders had punted on their season right.

(12:48):
The Patriots are absolutely flat out awful. I mean, you're
talking about losing some games here you scratch your head
and go, what the hell, man, how did they do that?
He's not coming back because the Jets are gonna be
out of it, and then he's gonna to say, hey,
maybe it's right for me to come back next year.
I mean, it'll be an easiish decision for him, admit
where it may wind up being, Hey, I don't feel

(13:09):
quite ready Week fourteen. Let's see if the Jets win again,
I don't feel quite ready Week fifteen. Okay, wait a minute.
If the Jets record is there, then I can say, hey,
I'm coming back. But he really is going to wait
and see, and it's not gonna be about his health.
It's gonna be where are the Jets when he's ready
to come back and they're gonna be out of the
playoff chase. It's how it's gonna be.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
You know me. I like the potential for chaos in
between the white lines and Aaron Rodgers getting back on
the field. It gives you hope, which means I get
one of those holiday holiday holiday gifts here. You may
get the birthday gift that comes a week or too
late by him getting back on the field. For me,
I watch your hope. He's get dashed.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
He's good for five snaps, Mike, Well, I.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Mean, do we set the over under a six and
a half that they run the ball a couple of
times and he's just got a couple of quick outs.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
He can have a lot longer tenure the second time
under center. Yeah, first five plays will all be runs
just to get past that number.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Why is he an?

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Then we'll start throwing the foot.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Why is the long snapper in.

rumors involving an injured quarterback making their way around the
NFL the last twenty four hours. But before we get

(16:08):
to that, something that happened today, because you know, again, hey,
working with the best guys in the business, Mike Harmon,
Justin Frosberg and Alex Tishirt, I want to acknowledge them
and give them credit and thank the crew Brian Finley
as well. Every night here on the show, I want
to make sure I acknowled you understand that everybody works
hard and does great and I want to acknowledge.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
The crew, acknowledge me.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
I say this because I want to talk about earlier today.
So earlier today I filled in on AM five seventy
here in Los Angeles. Are are Los Angeles affiliate and
we talked with David Vasse, who is Dodgers insider, travels
with the team for AM five seventy LA Sports. Nobody
is more plugged in to the Dodgers and than he is.

(16:52):
And with free agency about to begin, you know, we
talked about the different players of Dodgers could go after,
and and you know it's a tai Oscar Hernandez. Is
it gonna be Blake Snell who won this d say
young today? And he let slip something that I thought
was really interesting because obviously sho Heo Tani is the
prize on everybody's plate, and it's Otani filed for free

(17:16):
agency a day ago, rejected his qualifying offer like you expected.
And now, oh, it's gonna be the Dodgers, It's gonna
be the Marinder, is gonna be the Giants, it's gonna
be the Mets, it's gonna be the Cubs. And David
Vasse said, you know, in looking around where the the
situation is for sho Heo Tani right now if he

(17:37):
does sign for a one or two year deal right
because that's what it was reported was gonna happen, because
he's not gonna get a lot of money because he
needs to show that he could pitch again, and that's
not gonna happen for a while. You're not gonna in
the middle of the next season, he's not gonna pitch
at all. So you're gonna you're gonna say, Okay, can
the guy pitch. He's gonna try to sign potentially a
one to two year deal and then hit free agency

(17:59):
after that while he can pitch again. And David Vasse said,
there's a lot of belief that if that happens, Otani
is going to just go back to the Angels for
that two years and then hit free agency and try
it again when he shows that his arm is healthy.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Now and Jason, it's another triumph for ahead.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Of the Curve, I mean it is. I mean, I
gotta give David Veasse credit on this one, because this
was him saying, listen, and I have not heard that
at all. I've I've passed that a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Are you serious, Jason? But here you are.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
But he talked about that at length.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Right, But what I'm saying is, now you have an
insider saying.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Hey, no, but look told you that weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, we talked about the fact that going back would
be the right choice for him, right, so, but now
let me finish so I can go all the way back.
So so there what you got today, and then it
was it was maybe five weeks ago. I want to
say where we talked about what was the best smartest
thing for him to do. Go back to the Angels
where he can continue on with his career. Everybody's still

(19:04):
gonna love him, and no matter what happens, he'll still
get that big contract, because if he goes somewhere and fails,
it's gonna be whoa to show he tani, can we
really give him all that money? Is that gonna be
there for him? But if he stays with the Angels,
then he fails, it's gonna be well, the Angels think,
and he's just biding his time until he can be
a free agent. He wins a lot more by staying

(19:25):
with the Angels. He wins a lot more if he's
gonna go for one or two years. I feel if
somebody says, hey, we don't care. We think you're gonna
pitch for us. Eventually we're gonna give you eight year
contract and it's gonna be six hundred million or seven
hundred million dollars. Well, then he's gonna go wherever he goes.
But if he decides, hey, one or two years because
that big contract's not out there, Yeah, the best thing
for him would be to say, I'm gonna stay an Angel.

(19:47):
We know he's gonna hit, right, because that's always gonna happen,
and whatever he does coming back pitching is gonna be
a bonus. And then maybe he's a closer, maybe he's
someone that needs to pitch every six days, whatever it's
gonna be, that would be the best thing for him.
And and and if you think about it that way,
that's really what makes sense. So we're all getting ready
for this big off season of Otani Otani Otani, and

(20:10):
it may be yeah, he's going back to the Angels. Now,
let's talk about Blake Snell, Right, let's talk about Montgomery,
let's talk about some of the other talk about Bellinger. Right,
these are the guys suddenly that are gonna take all
the headlines because Otani is gonna wind up going back
to the Angels, because that does make the most sense.
We talked about a few weeks ago, and we had
a baseball insider talk about it today on AM five
to seventy.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Good to get to that next level confirmation that the
logic follows. Obviously, Ron Washington named the headman there for
the Angels, talking about rising up and bringing that team together.
Maybe maybe he was. He's in the know a little bit, Jason, No,
just kidding. No, the Otani thing is gonna be funny,
right because there's gonna be no noise from his camp,

(20:51):
or at least that's what we believe, you know, not
that they're gonna be leaking out information, etc. That it'll
come from the external wishing, wanting, hoping of local radio
broadcasters and beat writers and maybe a player or tool
chime in. But it does seem to be one of
those circumstances where you'd love to be a fly on

(21:12):
the wall during the presentations and to see which teams
actually get an audience. Right, going back to one of
those great free agent years, you know, to cross sports
for a second and go back to the NBA when
we watched with Lebron James. We watched Carmelo Anthony and
you know, putting his name up on the marquee and
everything outside the arena in Chicago.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Look, this could be We'll give you the world.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
That kind of thing that O. Toddani doesn't want the
flashiness externally, but he wants to show me the minor
league system, show me your commitment to building a pitching staff,
show me that you can be a winner, which is why,
you know, a couple of the usual suspects rise to
the level of speculation. Right, we assume the Dodgers right,

(21:57):
just up the five and away we go. And then
we look at Atlanta being in the mix just based
on the way the organization is built for sustained long
term success. Add a couple of wild cards in just
because they have giant potential to throw up giant novelty
checks at him, but seems to me that after the

(22:18):
year's frust with the Angels winning his paramount, I mean
World Baseball Classic was a lot about national pride and
everything the other ones, we actually won a damn game
that mattered, right, I Mean, there was something we actually accomplished,
something other than hey, I won my tenth game. So
they're gonna, you know, have another bobblehead in my honor here,

(22:41):
you know that kind of thing. So it's going to
be an interesting run here. But the one to two
year prove it to himself, get the arm right and everything,
and then get back out in the marketplace certainly would
make a lot of sense. But don't discount the six
hundred million dollar check being laid out by a team

(23:02):
just saying we'll make it up in merch and everything else.
That even if he can't pitch to the level that
he has, it's still gonna be a win financially plus
whatever we get at the plate.

Speaker 1 (23:15):

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Dodgers make most sense, though the Dodgers don't.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
Look.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Other teams make a lot of sense if they're gonna
give him a lot of money, but if it's one
or two years, no, it's well, well he said it.
We got a big story out of the NFL coming
your way where one injured quarterback is gonna end up

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Six Jason real quick. Yeah, you know where the Angels
are at on the odds to sign show? Hey o
Tani the official odds?

Speaker 1 (24:05):
Where are they second to last? Might want to get
in on that right now? I don't know, maybe not,
might want to get maybe you don't, might want to
get it on that. I'm telling you if one or
two years he doesn't like what he gets from everybody else,
look out where else are you gonna go? Hey, I'll

(24:26):
go or I'm maybe it's one year in an option
and I do one year, and I decide if I
want to opt in after one year, and I see
if things are differently in a year from now.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Angels plus sixteen hundred mic.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Watch it's only sixteen to one.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
That's not awful, that's second to last.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
It is but it's not.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
You know what, I've hit on many a horse in
a race that was at thirty or forty to one.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
And wait, you've hit on horses?

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Yeah, to win races, I'll hit on horses like, Hey,
can I buy you a drink or a bag.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
Of How you do it?

Speaker 1 (24:59):
No? No, no, no, that's not happened. So today, a
couple of NFL insiders have linked injured quarterback Kirk Cousins
with a couple of teams for next year. ESPN's Jeremy
Fowler said, hey, watch out for Kirk Cousins and the
Atlanta Falcons, who potentially could have traded for him sometime

(25:21):
in October. It didn't happen. He goes on to say
how what Arthur Smith does on offense meshes with Cousins'
ability to utilize play action. Okay, there's one. Meanwhile, Dan
Graziano of ESPN said the Green Bay Packers could be
a sleeper team for him, as long as they're ready
to admit that Jordan Love isn't their long term answer.
The Packers' offense is familiar to Cousins because it's a

(25:43):
derivative of Kyle Shanahan's scheme from their time together in Washington. Now,
these are two really good possibilities because they both make
sense because they both fall under the category of teams
who think they can be contenders with a couple of
quick changes, not teams starting over and where do and

(26:04):
get good hopefully sometime in the next four years. No,
it's gotta be kirk Cousins has to go to a
team that's either a contender, and not many big time
contenders are looking for quarterbacks. But more than likely it's
teams that think they can contend. Whether they can or not,
it doesn't matter. As long as they think they can contend,
that's who they would go get. So, yeah, I'm with
you on Atlanta or Green Bay, and I'm gonna give

(26:26):
you two more teams and I'll guarantee you he goes
to one of these four teams that we talked about.
He's either gonna be Atlanta because Atlanta fits the Packers,
because the Packers fit the Raiders, because the Raiders incredibly
fit what he likes to do. Who knows what you
get from aid and O'Connell kirk Cousins is available. Suddenly,
maybe that reignites Davonte Adams. It reignites the team. Kirk

(26:48):
Cousins would be a great Raider. I'm gonna show up here,
I'm gonna push the ball down the field and I'm
gonna be the savior and everybody gets back on board.
Everybody loves Antonio Pierce. The Raiders are my third choice.
And watch out for the Steelers because the Steelers are
gonna get to the end of the season and they're
gonna go, boy, we're a good team. Maybe we squeak

(27:08):
into the playoffs, maybe we just miss, but they understand
Kenny Pickett sticks and they can't go forward holding their
breath every week hoping that don't throw in any interceptions
and maybe we have enough in the running game to
beat the other team. And we ask you to make
one or two throws over the course of four quarters.
That doesn't win in the NFL, you can contend. And

(27:29):
that's all Kenny Pickett's been doing is is not throwing interceptions.
The last month. He's been awful, and the Steelers are
gonna realize after year two, you're only gonna get so much.
That's the team I watch out for, big time for
Kirk Cousins because here he goes cold weather. He succeeded
just like he did in Washington. This is gonna be
a place where the Steelers can make a big leap

(27:50):
ahead and be a super Bowl team next year with
a quarterback. So one of these four teams, and I
like the Steelers the most.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Look at you, Kenny Pickett is a guy all the
qualified quarterbacks you've not sat play, He's the only guy
with five or few returnovers. So doing the thing that
matters most when it comes to wins and losses in
the National Football League. The team you seem to forget

(28:19):
about is that the potential that and I know it
flies to the face of the Josh Dobbs world, is
that Minnesota may still want to keep him around now.
He would be cost prohibitive in many many ways in
terms of adding to some of the talent they already have,
because they have many needs right in that lineup in

(28:41):
the All twenty two. But certainly you've had O'Connell. And
maybe it's just the pleasantries of saying the right thing
where they're at right now, but it seems like everybody's
amenable to at least talking out another year or two
of that relationship. But I do like the potential for that.
I mean with that George Pickens happy in Pittsburgh, Oh,

(29:02):
is he still gonna be there?

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (29:04):
And then.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
The Raiders.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
You know, Kirk Cousins got some swag to him. He
would fit Las Vegas, could wear Jane and then still
be the guy that dresses, you know, whatever his wife
picks out. So that's good, I.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Think the look. But the reason we're talking about Cousins
and where he's gonna end up is because now it
looks like the door is open for them to keep
Josh Dobbs, who has been pretty Look, they're still gonna
draft a quarterback, right because you know you're talking about
you have young playmakers that you want to grow with
your next quarterback and somebody young for Jefferson and Jordan
Addison and Hockinson. Absolutely, But the fact we're talking about

(29:41):
where Cousins could go, if you're the Vikings, like, Okay,
it's gonna cost thirty five to forty million dollars to
bring Kirk Cousins back. It'll cost twenty million for the
next two years for Josh Dobbs, we're signing up for that.
We still got pretty good play and he's a he
fits pretty well with what we do, and he's gonna
come fifteen million dollars a year cheaper. So I I
this whole thing is coming up with Kirk Cousins because
with each passing week it looks like this guy's going

(30:03):
to be gone.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Well, but that's the big thing. Josh Dobbs now has
a half season audition ahead, right, and the schedule looks
fairly favorable. You got a bye week mixed in there
where you can finish learning everybody's names. Jefferson will be back,
So on paper, it'll look good with an opportunity to
truly go in and rest this job and earn himself
a big deal. But potential is certainly there for it

(30:27):
to go to the other direction and open that door
once again.

The Kings are going to take a big lead to

the second night of back to back sore.

Do look at the box score. You can see how
much Anthony Davis has done for you to this point.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
But we'll have more NBA coming up in a Rick
Buker is going to join us in about a half hour.
Tell us all the latest. But two big awards handed
out today in Major League Baseball. We had the managers
a day ago, and I think book Iday, we had
the awards. OH wins for the Yankees and Blake Snell

(32:39):
wins the National League for the Padres. Snell, who had
a war of six e array of two and a half,
he won fourteen games. He is, outside of Yoshinobu Yamamoto,
going to be the big prize of the offseason in
free agent pitchers. And I say no, because Otani is
not going to pitch next year, and Snell being the

(33:01):
reigning sy Young Award winner, you would think he's gonna
go out there and get a ton of money. I
got news for you. Not only do I not want
any bit of Blake Snell. He's gonna get less money
than you think because the secret's out on him. The
guy has had two elite years in Major League Baseball.
Two times he's come up for a contract year. He

(33:21):
had twenty eighteen when he was twenty one and five
and his ERA was under two. Cy Young number one,
cy Young number two now contract year fourteen and nine,
War of six, ERA of two and a half. Right,
these are the two great years that he has had.
Every other year since then has been just okay. He
had a just okay year in twenty twenty, the shortened season,

(33:44):
when he pitched eleven games. ERA was three and a half.
It was a good run for the Tampa Bay Rays.
They went pretty far. But he's had two good years.
I mean, you're talking and they're both in contract years.
I am not giving this guy any money, and I
guarantee you he's gonna see a much smaller deal than
he expecause I've already seen that. Well. Snell might help
set the market before Yamamoto posts from Japan, and you

(34:06):
can wind up signing him. It'll be two hundred million
for what's given him two hundred million dollars. Are you kidding?
There's no way that's a sucker team that gives Blake
Snell that kind of money, knowing that he's been great
two times, both times when he's needed to get paid.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
Yeah, what's interesting is you can then parse out his
postseason heroics and just say, well, you know what, I'll
pay him because I know when it matters, he won't
melt down. He might melt down when a manager comes
to take him out of a game prematurely, but otherwise
I know that he's bringing his a game. What's interesting, right,

(34:42):
he wins the cy Young going away all those measurables.
You got the fact that he walked ninety nine guys
at his one hundred and eighty innings and it didn't
burn him. Yeah, is really kind of interesting, right, I mean,
that is an absurdly high walk grades.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
He's like the first it didn't to lead the league
in walks and win the cy Young. I want to say,
since like nineteen fifty eight, Like no one's done that
in that long of a time. He led the league
in walks and still won the Cy Young.

Speaker 4 (35:11):
Yeah, it's it's just at this point, right, the fact
that you only gave up one hundred and fifteen hits.
You know he was dealing and had a miraculous season.
That route where yeah, I'll put you on base and
then you'll you'll lament the fact that your teammates can't
get you on over and in. But I think you
if I were him, I'd go to year the year, mercenary,

(35:34):
max out my dollars each year. Okay, just baseball, Yeah,
it's major league baseball. Well no, you'd be on a
contract year every years.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Yeah, every year, do it man.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
Yeah, but then that would be a colusive effect in
major League Baseball and we'd have investigations. Why is he
only getting one year deals after a say young, Well,
I mean look at what happened, look at the history.
Now someone's gonna come over the top with a crazy check.
Whether your Mets, No, don't, don't put that out of Yankee.
Not put that out one of those White Sox are

(36:05):
always a mystery team.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Maybe it's gonna be you. No, because it's gonna cost
over one hundred million dollars to bring him in, and
we know Jerry Reinsdorf ain't signing that deal. No, Yeah,
it's gonna have not putting it out there. But you
want to put it out there for Blake still to
go to the Mets, which I don't like. I'm putting
it out that he's gonna go to you. I'll put
it out there the Dodgers sign him, we give him
three hundred million dollars, I'll put it out there for

(36:27):
that too.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
Now now we're all Now it's out there for all
of us. Now, now we're the Spider Man meme and
free agency? Is that what we're doing?

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Spider Man Spider Man?

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Yeah. No.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
The minute I see my team, then I see the
Mets linked with Blake's. Now I'm going, Oh no, I
gotta eat a candy dish full of tombs. I just can't.
We're gonna give him money. It's not like we didn't
learn with Verlander, and sure, don't do it. Don't do it.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
No, that's the one thing I can count on the
White Sox not to do. Is me the team that
grossly overpays for someone in free agency?

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Exit? How about a Frescos swollen dome. The Jason Smith
