you for your support. As always these last few years,
Mike and I love putting this content out for you
every single day. Now we'll get to the All Star
Game coming up in a bit. Bottom of the eighth inning.
National League leads the American League six to four. They
are three outs away from doing something incredibly rare, and
that's winning the All Star Game, yay. But the other
big story tonight Caitlyn Clark left to night's game. The

(01:16):
Fever held on to beat the Sun late they pulled
away to beat the Sun later. It was a close
game throughout. Caitlyn Clark another game where she had trouble
hitting threes I believe, which is at one three on
the road in her last like seven games. It's been
a struggles three games of terrible shooting before her injury
and missing five games and since she's been back, assists

(01:38):
total is high, moving the ball well, but her shot
has just absolutely been broken. Telling you, after I said
everything was gonna be great, watch this middle finger revenge
tour for Caitlyn Clark. She can't hit a shot all
your fall and the best defender of the WNBA's ever seen.
And then we joked about it that night that there
would be talk of, hey, the Fever are better without

(01:59):
Caitlin Clark.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
What happened? Carolyn Peck?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Hey, she was the one that said it first when
I said watch the hot take all the Fever better
without Katelyn Clark, and Carolyn Peck said it yeah, thanks, Yeah,
there was Uh, but here's the deal now with what
we just saw. Kaylen Clark makes a back door pass
for a hoop that gives the Fever a nine point lead,

(02:22):
and then she runs down the court and you can
see she puts the right hand kind of over where
her groin is, which is what you see athletes do
when they pull that they put Oh wow, oh wow,
I feel something there. Now here's the thing. Okay, yeah,
Caitlyn Clark's already been out with two injuries this year,
a quad injury, groin injury. And before you say that, hey,
she reaggravated her her groin injury. The groin injury that

(02:43):
kept her out was her left groin. Now we don't
know because Stephanie white Head, coach of the Fever, hasn't
said anything. And right now we're wondering, is Kaitlyn Clark
got to play in the next game? Can she be
in any of the All Star festivities this weekend, Can
she be in the three point shootout? Can she be
in the game itself. It's a really big ques question now.
But the thing is when she came when she came off,
she had her right hand over her right groin. Now

(03:06):
it could be your left growing still, obviously, I'm not
a doctor, but I'm just sitting here saying, hey, if
you hurt yourself on whatever side of the body you
hurt your body on, if you're gonna touch it with
your hand, you're gonna put your hand there, that's gonna
be the side you use. So the fact she used
her right hand or right hand seemed like it was
over her right groin. You wonder if now she's back
from the left growing and now there is a right

(03:27):
groin injury that she's really going through overcompensated. Now you
leave the court and they not unprecedented and just terrible
for the w NBA as you have the huge spectacle
that this All Star weekend was going to be the
announcement of participation in the three point shootout, right and
much heralded, much anticipated, and her return to the court

(03:51):
and they continue to win even with her not shooting
well at all. Steve gave us the numbers in terms
of percentages. This is awful if this becomes a long
standing issue because third injury, miss five games, just back
just starting to get the legs underneath her, and then

(04:14):
leaves at the end of this victory. So for the
w NBA, timing worse could be worse. Now there's reports
here out that Colin Clark, her brother, alludes to refing
playing a role in her injury. Right that the ref
in the game is okay put in so okay. Now

(04:37):
it's been deleted, but it was up. Now let me
just say this, as we were waiting for Caitlin Clark
to find out how she is. And you know, the
funny thing is I plan to talk about this tonight
at some point, you know, her coming off the game.
And remember on Sunday there is a lot of physicality
and the Fevers win and a very big bit of
viral from Rebecca Lobo and Ryan Ruk doing the game,

(05:01):
doing the Fever game on Sunday, showing you just one
possession where Caitlin Clark has hit a couple of times,
and Rebecca Lobo saying, that's a foul. That's a foul,
that's a foul, that's a foul. Finally they call it
when she gets the hoop, right, like, they're not calling
the fouls on Caitlin Clark. And when you hear that,
that part of it is, Ah, this is just Caitlin
Clark apologist not getting their not getting their way because

(05:24):
she's not hitting shots, and all of a sudden, Caitlin Clark,
they're making excuses for. The thing is, you watch these games, right,
and we watch more WNBA than I think a lot
of people do. You watch these games, and you can
see where Caitlin Clark gets bodied, gets physical and doesn't
get the calls. Now, generally in sports you get the
superstar calls, but she's not getting them. And I don't

(05:48):
know how much this is a hot take as much
as now. I think there's a lot of evidence going
back to last year when things aren't called, like Kennedy
Carter running into her from behind and knocking her down,
in the referee just saying it's a common foul. We're
not seeing that. Uh, There's been a lot of instances
of Caitlin Clark getting physical and no fouls being called. Okay, Now,

(06:11):
it's funny because you know, I listened to Doug Gottlieb
talk about this a couple of weeks ago and say, listen,
women's basketball is really difficult to be officiated for a
bunch of different reasons, and it was great points on
it going. Look, obviously, Doug d one coach, you know basketball,
this whole life. But I think now, I think that's more.
We've gone past that because I will tell you this,
the officials know what they're calling and what they're not.

(06:33):
They know what to look for and whatnot. Caitlyn Clark
is a really big deal, and I wonder if they're
not calling fouls on her on purpose. Now I'm not
saying that's why she got hurt. I mean, I'm not
saying that, but but I wonder, just watching these games,
are they not calling fouls where she gets hit on purpose?
Because the backlash and what could happen the optics of oh,

(06:57):
Caitlin Clark getting all these fouls calls, getting superstar foul calls?
What that would do to the wa WNBA conversation and
attention to the game, because you already see what it's
like where where there's so many haters for Caitlyn Clark
out there. The players don't like her. The players don't
some of the coaches don't like her because they're jealous
of what she does and the attention she's brought to

(07:18):
the game. Can you imagine what would happen if they
put her on the free throw line as much as
they did, if they if they gave her all these
calls where hey, that's a foul, that's a foul, that's
a foul. The blowback on it would be insane. Right,
there is a very fragile situation right now with Caitlyn
Clark and her standing with the rest of the league,
where hey, you want you want everybody to not hate her.

(07:38):
You want to be able to not have storylines taken
over by is it racial? Is it Caitlyn Clark or
Rangel Reese? We can't celebrate both of them. Why do
we pit both them against each other? One of the
worst things we do. Hey, here's two women starts let's
pit them against each other. No, we shouldn't be doing that.
But to very fragile situation right now. And if all
of a sudden she starts getting these calls where oh

(07:59):
they're physical, but they're kind of ticky tack or you
could call them or not call them. What happens to
the uproar over Caitlyn Clark's treatment the WNBA? Do things
get worse, does the daily discourse about the WNBA get better?
Or do to get to a point where, look, here's
Caitlyn Clark, the big hero. She's getting all of these calls.
It's ridiculous and now you have even more of a
divide with players in the WNBA. Because that's why I

(08:21):
can come to is that there's places where boy, Caitlyn
Clark should have gone gone to the free throw line.
Case Kelsey plump boy, this place should go to the
free throw line. And you wonder if that's the case.
She had one bit tonight where she was so mad
at the referee where she was yelling, Camie, Camie, camire,
I'm gonna call the league on you. She was so
upset with hout things are being refereed and how she

(08:42):
was She had lost it a little bit during the
game with a ref. I thought she was gonna get
thrown out if one of her teammates didn't pull her back,
Like you could tell. It's getting to that point with
Caitlyn Clark and the referees. But I really wonder if
if that's the thing is we're not calling that because
the blowback on it could be even worse, which is
not fair at all, and it shows you the WNB
still having trouble handling success. But Caitlyn Clark, this is

(09:04):
a thing now where hey, her treatment by the referees.
This is now front and center and there's no other
way because the referees know what they're looking for. They
know what they're looking for, they know what they're Seeing's like,
these are people at are brand new doing the games.
They know now with Caitlyn Clark and what's happening in
these games. All right, there's a lot of scrutiny on
this and you see plays where that should be a
foul call, and no, you can't call everyone. And I

(09:25):
know that the defenders are gonna do that because they're
gonna have the philosophy of well, okay, if you call
me for a couple, but you gotta at least blow
the whistle a couple of times before you absolutely have to. Okay,
well she got to the basket and she put up
a shot that should have went in and it didn't.
We'll give her the foul. Sometimes it's a foul if
she get if she dribbles and gets bodied off the
ball and it's a turnover, sometimes that's a foul too. Right.

(09:47):
I know she didn't get to the rack and get
a shot off, but sometimes that's got to be a foul.
So I really wonder. I mean, if that's where we're
at right now. That, yeah, there's things not being called
on purpose in Caitlyn Clark's in Caitlyn Clark's beath because
of what the fall could be. Well, the critical eye
go back to look at some of her turnovers that
where she gets mugged right and bodied to where the

(10:10):
ball just trickles. I mean there was a big one
the other day where she was complaining about not getting
a foul call and then she wanted the ball. It
gets the ball and loses it and like, ah, yes,
she probably committed to turn over. She got absolutely bodied. Yeah,
it's like you're looking for the foul call, and we

(10:31):
talk about it with all sports, whether it's soccer games
or basketball all the way through, that you can call
a foul holding calls on every call in the NFL
or college football that you're trying to figure out where
the line is in the sand. We watched earlier in

(10:51):
this game, Tina Charles absolutely obliterated Leah Austin and it
was called a common fall. Right the arm came up,
took her to the ground and there was a minute
of wow, is she really hurt? But it was rule
to come and fill. So the WNBA having a lot
of issues with the fall and officiating as a whole,

(11:13):
right on the macro level, and then you take it
back into the Caitlin Clark, there are superstar calls. Right.
We talked a lot about Miserowski making the All Star
Game for Major League Baseball. Guess what Star treatment happens
in every walk of life, in every sport, all the
way through different treatment for different players. Miserowski was a story.

(11:34):
So after a bunch of people opted out, yeah he's
getting a call and he's going to show up in
Atlanta to take a couple of pitches and get up
there and throw and give us one hundred mile on
our heat. With Caitlin Clark, you have to recognize what
she's brought to the table, the expansion of this league.
You've added new franchises just since her showing up to

(11:56):
the tune up hundreds of millions of dollars as well
as the chartered flight and everything else that gets pointed out. So, yeah,
those superstar calls should come. And if she becomes a
free throw merchant, as this has been laid on Shay
Gildes Alexander, so be it. That's the way it works now,
and I'll throw this out there too. Before you think, oh, Jason,

(12:16):
is the league really gonna not call fouls on Caitlin
clarkers are worried about the uproar. Let me take you
back to a little thing called the Olympics from a
year ago. Remember the Olympics when Kara Clark didn't get
selected and the big reason that came out why they
didn't take Caitlyn Clark. What was the big reason. We
were told, oh, right, because the team was kind of

(12:36):
concerned what the fallout would be on social media from
Caitlyn Clark's fans if she didn't play a lot in
the Olympics. So don't sit here and tell me that
oh yeah, yeah, this is something that's completely out of bounds.
This is a suppose that wanted to put that out
there that hey, we're worried about what her fans would
say if she doesn't play a lot. Okay, So yeah,
you are worried about fallout for things telling you. I mean,

(12:59):
at this point, you know they know Caitlin Clark, the
Golden Goose everything. Okay, at this point, say, okay, we
got to start calling fouls when she gets hit like this,
and it doesn't matter what the fallout is. It doesn't
matter if players get mad, it doesn't matter. You got
to officiate things the right way. And again I'm not
saying she got hurt tonight because of it. This is
I'm just saying in general, because we wanted to talk
about this coming into it. Sure is that you saw

(13:20):
her get really upset with official tonight. I mean against
I thought once she was going to get thrown out
of the game. She's having a conversation with the official
about a foul, and all of a sudden she just
loses it. And if her teammate doesn't pull her back,
like I wonder if she gets thrown out of the
game at that point, and then she wants you fish
come over here, come over, you come to talk to me,
Come talk to me. I want to call the league
like that's the thing, man. But it's an outstanding building

(13:43):
issue going back to last season, where you don't feel
that it's it's necessarily adjudicated properly. And you can't call
every file, you can't call every hit, but certainly when
it becomes the all right, there's one, then you just
say pick one, right. How many times do you do that?
You had that sequence that you're speaking of here, where

(14:05):
it's any number of reachins or body blows. It's like,
all right, once we get to four and then you
wait and to see if the shot doesn't fall. Come on.
It's just ludicrous at this level. And now you're getting
to the All Star break and that's going to be
one of the big questions her availability, but also the

(14:25):
state of officiating. You're expanding the pie and bringing in
hundreds of millions of dollars more per franchise. Talk about
the evaluation of what the Valkyries are just after rising
into the league that you've got to realize you've got
to protect your players and Caitlin Clark being first and
foremost expanding pie. Wow, we were watching a pizza ed exert,

(14:52):
So again I got you think that's a hot take thing,
that's contraby. I mean, really you have to wonder why
are they not calling it unless they're worried about the fallout,
because the fallout would be so we're gonna referee you
this way. Just think about it. Exit ou about a
Fresco exit swallowing dome. Jason Smith, Mike Harmon coming up next.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Well Dressed Hobo Drama.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
In the ninth inning, Edwin Diaz comes in to try
to close it out for the National League against the
American League with a tying run at second, and Matt
Olson makes a terrific play on a ground ball up
the line. The toss to Diaz for the second out
of the inning. Were you nervous about the toss? A

(16:35):
little nervous about the toss, real nervous, Like it came
in a little high, had some issues, little nervous, little nervous,
But Edwin Diaz. They get the out at first. Now
the tying run is ninety feet away, and Kwan is
standing between the National League and the rarest of things
in the All Star Game, a senior circuit victory. I'll
tell you what that last Edwin Diaz pitch. It only

(16:58):
clocked at one hundred. It looks like it was one hundred.
Like he is juiced. Hey, hey, hey, when you say that,
hang on a second. Hang on when you you know,
when you say that, don't you just say he is excited?
He is. He's really jacked up. When you say an
MLB player is jewed a guy? Okay, hang on a second.
Am not casting any aspersions. I just had that choice

(17:19):
of words. That's all. Now this, honestly, think about this.
Right here comes Diaz coming into the game, and Jazz
chishm is coming up right and Chism gets a groundball
down the first base line, and thankfully they got the
out at first. Because I was like, okay, o, man,
that's they needed that. Uh, because I couldn't. I couldn't
face my dad and Fabiano if Chisholm got a hit
and tied the game off of Daz. Right. But here's

(17:39):
the thing, this is why the All Star Game should
have a re entry role. Okay, number one, How much
would the ratings stay and get bigger over the course
of the game if you knew guys like Otani and
Judge could come back into the game right and hit
at some point right they start, I would say the
start the t it istion liket age to where they

(18:02):
can come back and back out like a WWE superstar. Yeah,
they can come back in and uh and and play right.
Because how great would it be if the American League
could say, okay, two outs, tying run a third, Aaron
Judge can come back into the game and hit, and
we get ds versus Judge as a way, Oh my goodness,
we got DZ versus Judge. Think about when when Otani

(18:26):
struck out Trout at the end of the WBC and
how great a moment that was. Okay, here they are
the teammates and the two best players in baseball. The
last few years doing it right, Like that's a big deal.
How great would it be to be able to say, Okay,
now here comes Aaron Judge back in, or Otani can
come back in the next inning, to to hit at
some point, Like if you knew the best players were
going to be in there at the end, I think

(18:47):
viewership towards the end would be great because what happens
is all the best players, they're out of the game
after the first three innings, right, they all hit once
or twice, and then they're out, and now it's a
bunch of guys coming in that Hey, maybe you know
who they are, maybe you don't, and how are you
gonna do this? How is this going to work? And
so knowing that maybe these guys could come back in,
that'd be great as long as everybody gets there at

(19:07):
that and juicy not why not? Right? Why not? Or
it gets to pitch that you know, one or two batters. Yeah,
because we didn't even get the traditional full innings out
of a lot of these guys, you know, a couple
of hours. Yeah, we actually saw a guy pulled, oh
yeah in the middle, in the middle of but pulled
not just out of strategy, or pulled because hey, you

(19:27):
have a trouble. You're not yeah, not good, You're having
trouble on this, you know, not a Kershaw ceremonial thing
or some of these others. Oh and let me tell
you what just happened. Wow, this is amazing. Okay, and
you know, I'm excited even though we're going to the
bottom of the ninth inning. So Kwan gets an infield single. Uh,
you know, they have the bit of the shift on.

(19:48):
Being the left handed bat that he is, and he
gets jammed by Diaz and he hits a slow roller
that doesn't even make it to the lip of the infield,
but wising his see doesn't have any chance. Yeah, he
he beats it out at first base. So an infield
dribbler ties the game at six. Okay, So now Kwan's
on first two outs Randy and Rose. Arena is up,

(20:11):
and of course, because you know DS can't hold anybody
on me, I can run on Van Diaz quan steel seconds. Now,
oh wait a minute, here here's the uh, here here's
the now. All of a sudden, the go ahead run
is at second. I'm like, oh my god, Diaz, what
are you doing? And then he throws a pitch on
the black that looks like it strikes out a rose
arena and instead it's called a ball, and everybody stops

(20:33):
and Diaz they all said they want the ABS system.
Remember it's in play here for the All Star Game,
where you can challenge a pitch if you think it's
a strike. But it's got to be done right away
by the batter, the pitcher or the catcher. Right. We've
seen it a couple of times already in the game
and it's worked out. School Will tried it out early
and it worked it. Yes, you go and they go
with the box, the box technology and whatever the box

(20:57):
shows you, that's what the pitch is. So Ds points
he wants to pitch looked at, and a Rose Raina
is smiling. It's like, okay, I think he probably knows
it was strike three if he's sitting there in the
batter's box smiling. And sure enough they go to the box,
the pitch is in the zone. Strike three. That ends
the inning. This is that, Yeah, this innings we're talking
on the blackay because it was a very small bit

(21:19):
of baseball that was on the Yeah, well that's where
it's got to be. Sey what's in the box. It's not.
It's not like. That's why players aren't a little offside.
You're either offside or you're not. The player is either
the ball is either in the box or it's not
in the box. And that ended the inning. Like that
pitch ended the inning. They're all smiling walking off and
ds tips his hat and Rose raina kind of smiles

(21:40):
and that gets the strike out at the end of
the inning. So now you're going into the next Okay,
so now we're tied, going to the bottom of the ninth.
Here's the other thing. Diz is the last pitcher, the
last pitcher left. I believe they said Dave Roberts has
used everybody. You know, Dave Roberts loves Hisez. He may
come in. He may come in the next inning. We
may get him to come in. Uh so, he's got it.

(22:00):
He's got more appearances than Mizerowski this year. Yeah. Uh so, now,
not even kidding. If they don't get a run, Diaz
is gonna have to come out and pitch again. I mean,
we could get to a point where he's gonna say,
all right, Diaz is not gonna pitch. I mean, he's
not gonna pitch three innings. Either you figure something else
out or we could be looking at another we're gonna
get another tie. Well, the over of that ten and

(22:24):
a half that we talked about that is hit Pete
Alonzo may no longer be your MVP. Yeah no, now
it's gonna now forget it now. Now that's out the way.
It's whatever happens now, it's gonna be whatever whoever wins
the game, if someone wins the game with the walk
off or someone hits it, you know, gives the American
League the league, like yeah, And then started with my
all star Smith hitting Suarez in the hand. Uh yeah,

(22:49):
hopefully he's okay and hopefully good. It was worked inside
with with some high heat. And you can see he
Suarez look back at the mound like really, dude, really
all Star game and now we're wondering about that. But
it was the hit that started everything. Yeah, and look
and and and now to you know, to go through
that first of all the abs as we've seen tonight

(23:12):
works and works really well and works really well, like
I mean, like I said, we will eventually get to
robot umps and a home plate umpiring a major league
baseball where it's strictly done by computer. But it's not
going to be something that's going to be universally accepted
off the bat. Right, let's just say they're bugs in.
It doesn't work as great. Oh, we got to get
rid of it. Got to go back to the umpires,

(23:34):
the home plate umpires. Of course, the Umpires Association is
gonna is gonna be crazy. You don't trust us to
make these calls. Now, everything's going to be automated. AI
is taking all our jobs. This is simply the first Hey,
this is how we get everybody's feet wet to how
we're going to have the ABS system calling balls and
strikes at some point all the way through. Right, get
them used to it now. And clearly this is a

(23:54):
huge win because, hey, they challenged and all three challenges
so far I overruled right, all three challenges that the
Major League that the homeplate umpire ruled all were overturned.
So that's a huge w for the ABS system and
that yeah, they're gonna get it right. When the home
played umpires get it wrong. Being zero for three, that's

(24:15):
a big thing.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Man.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
I know you think, ow, it's just the All Star Game,
but hey, you would think the homeplate umpire is getting
it right. When all three challenges have come through for
the challenging team, it's a big thing, man. Yeah, not
a good look for your human calls, because we did
have a game the other day, what was it, twenty
miss calls or something like that over the course of
a game, so you certainly have the preponderance of evidence.

(24:38):
And then on the biggest stage where you draw a
massive audience on Fox for this highlight and the erosa
rain of response might have been the thing that steals
it all. Yeah, smiles and kind of did that lean
on the bat thing while he waited those few seconds
for the call to come in and you go to
the bottom of the ninth off of that call. Yeah,

(25:00):
it's it's a huge win for technology and stuff and
overall for Fox, a huge win between the interviews and
the sound that they've gotten and then the quick look
sees and replay system as it's been set up here,
it's all worked out beautifully. Now look now I want
to say this right, so it's great night for the ABS,

(25:22):
but here we are bottom of the ninth inning and
there's two outs, okay, two outs, so it looks like
we could be heading to the tenth th inning. All right, great, okay,
so Diaz will probably come out and pitch again because
he pitched, you know, just had a couple of batters,
had three batters in the uh in the in the
last inning. So okay. But remember what happened for the
Tide All Star Game was when everybody ran out of

(25:44):
pitchers and we couldn't have guys going right, and they're
not going to ruin dz by saying you're just gonna
pitch until the game is over, right. So I remember
back then because I was on the air here at
Fox Sports Radio when they came out and Bud Siele said,
what do you want me to do it? But now
that we can do about it, the managers came over
Joe Torrey, who actually came out to make a pitch.
She changed tonight, you know, so uh, you know I

(26:05):
I you know, I wonder if you're looking at a
potential change now like we're talking about this, if you're
looking at a potential change for the future of hey
to keep the game going right, to keep the game
going into Let's make sure there's an extra pitcher who
is selected for the All Star Game that is a
starter that can go three or four innings. Right then

(26:27):
it's okay pitching three or free. Because it's Tuesday night,
we don't play again till Friday, Like what what? What
if we did that so we can keep the game going,
keep it going after after this, after the ninth inning,
all right, let's have a guy out there and let's go.
It would be good. And another addendum, because I think
we go to a home run derby based on the
the way things are set up now that that work

(26:49):
was changed a couple of years ago. Yeah, as opposed
to you just can't let Dave Roberts manage. Yeah, so
this means the AL and the NL will both have
home field in the World Series. Yeah, exactly. So when
the Mets play the Tigers, it's gonna be the world
But it's well, your ideas, just gave the lead up.

(27:10):
It wasn't his fault. It wasn't his fault. He's you
get come on, quand just hit hit with a dribbler?
Did even make it to he didn't get hurt. That's
gonna look like a line drive single in the bottom.
It's a line drive chock.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Yeah, he was fine, he was fine. Well, here you
know what. It's Dave Roberts fault for knowing. Oh wait,
bringing in Edwin Diaz in the middle of an inning
is not how it's done. I mean, look, I mean
you don't bring He doesn't come in the middle of innings.
He likes to start the beginning of the inning. That's
what you do. Now I'm gonna say, what are you doing? Man?
What are you doing? What are we doing? Bring him
in the beginning of the inning when he's used to
coming in. You don't bring him in the middle. It

(27:48):
always takes him a batter or so to warm up.
And he got lucky that Chisholm's you know, that rip
ball down the line was able to get gloved by
Olsen where he made a play on it. Yeah, he
didn't make the play earlier made that one. So now
we'll end up with a home run derby three players
little swings, Here we go, here we go. So it's
probably gonna be I would say, uh, National League, Otani

(28:12):
Alonso third one. I got to think of American League.
We're gonna get Judge Rally and probably Rooker, probably Rooker.
I mean, we're getting we're getting We're gonna get history, right, here,
we're gonna get history. I do like that you're getting
close to Raleigh, who was the friend in the Diary

(28:35):
of a Wimpy with your pronunciation. But yeah, three players,
three swings each, So judge Rally and Rooker, right and
then a lot right? What do you, Steve de Sager?
What you what he got? Okay?

Speaker 5 (28:49):
They just announced it is Rooker, but it's Rosina who
just struck out.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Okay, essentially he's hot and still in the game. Oh,
can you not bring a guy back who's out of there? No?

Speaker 5 (28:58):
No, In fact, they even they even brought a catcher
back after he got pinched hit for it in late innings.
As far as just you're picking your three, I'm sure
the other guys have just cooled down. So Aronda from
Tampa Bay, the other one, the three from the National League,
Pie Alonzo Suarez who's been in the game, Kyle Schwarber there.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
And ninety eight Mark maguire. We is gonna hit though.
That means that he didn't break his hand.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
He had a good fielding player.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
That's good news. That's good news. Yeah, that's good news.
What happens if Swarez bite somebody? Ooh, maybe the same guy,
there's been no evidence that he hasn't. You can't tell
me he hasn't. Right, Uh So here we go, and
now Pete Alonzo can still win m v P, right
if if it's if it's more home runs in the
All Star Game, right, he could do it. I mean, really,
this is absolute history we're getting right now, they're interviewing

(29:45):
Dave Robertson and Aaron Boone on the field and you know,
we'll see how this goes if the home run derby
is something that people love.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
Commissioner Sea League standing and holding his palms up in
the air.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
And you know what happens. Still vividly remember the managers
and Tory just standing there and he throwt like what
do you want me to do?

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Like what do you want me to do?

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Like I don't know you want me to do?

Speaker 5 (30:07):
Like clearly Dave roberts tonight, yeah, knowing this managed for
nine innings and nine innings only because he had thirteen
pitchers to use, Yeah, including the subs like Mazerowski and
us literally all thirteen, including Diaz for the last two ols.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Yeah, gave everybody their moment in the sun. He's like, wait,
you mean I can use all the relievers and people
aren't going to get mad at me. Wow.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
So Brent Rooker of the A's, who already has a
pinch three run homer tonight, we'll start off the home
run derby for the American League in this tiebreaker, all right.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
So kick it off with what's trending? Steve O all
the updates and had Pete A. Lonzo's stats for tonight
You mean the future MVP of this game.

Speaker 5 (30:43):
Yes, yes, he did have a three run homer in
the six Corbyn Carroll of Arizona solo shot in that
inning for a six nothing lead, and yet the game
is six to six at the end of nine, and
they're going to this new tiebreaker that first came about
three years ago, but only on paper. We've not seen
it actually in the flesh until now. Each side, uh

(31:07):
gets to pick the three guys three pitches each. And
we also saw the ABS system that you were talking
about that we saw in spring training, where each side
gets a couple of challenges, but you get to keep
your challenge if you're successful, and the challenge doesn't come
from the bench, and it doesn't come from anyone else
on the field.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Except pitcher or catcher.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Or or a catcher or the batter, and we had
a lot of successful challenges.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Even in that bottom of the night, there was another one.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
Yes yes, and in the top of the ninth as well,
dhho he Otania. The Dodgers let off for the NL
tonight at Lana. He singled at Lantis own Ronald Acunya
came next to infield single off the starter Tarrek Schooble,
and then Arizona's catl Marte with a two run double.
It stayed two nothing until the sixth, when it became
six nothing, six' four immediately after that and now six

(31:55):
six and one of the candidates FOR mvp on The
American league, Side Bobby WITCH, rbi ground out in the
SEVENTH rbi double in the ninth and scored the tying
run in the ninth. Inning The jets gave defensive Back

Friend Mike. Harmon we're watching history right, now the first
ever home run derby to decide The All Star. Game.
Hopefully the last two game was tied after nine, innings
six to, six so each side picking three players three.
Swings each team with the most home runs at the end.

(34:31):
Wins right, Now Kyle schwarber is up for The National.
League he has just. Homered oh was it a Home
it's a home run home run For Kyle. Schwarber The
American league leads it three to. Two schwarber is the
Second National league batter to bet we watched in the first.
Round rooker hit two home, Runs towers hit a home,

(34:53):
Run Arosa raina hit a home, run And Kyle schwarber
has now hit two home runs on two. Swings he
could give The National league the lead going to the
final round, here which is gonna Be randa And Pete.
Alonzo so it's Also alonso is still gonna WIN. Mvp
it's just gonna be more. Fun the three run dinger

(35:13):
and now he's gonna win with the that's what's gonna
happens three times is gonna strike him. Out Kyle schwarber's third,
swing he went down on one knee and he still
hit it into the second deck and four home. Runs
now for The National, League Kyle schwuerwright WENT mvp three,

(35:37):
swings three home runs to give THE nl the lead
going to the final. Round randa's got to hit at
least one to keep an, interesting But schwarber on that
last one just look didn't look like he got it
in the specific place he was looking, for but feeling
it after two big home, runs heat check swing into
the second deck and right. Field so now The National

(35:59):
league has the lead going to the final round third
and absolute moonshot going. Down that'll be on a trading card,
tomorrow no question about. It they put up the graphic
that he has the second most home run since twenty
seventeen To Aaron judge who recently hit what three point
fifty one or. Whatever he's Got schwarber also Called Babe,

(36:23):
schwarber who's leaned out and much more muscular than he
was in his Early cubs. Days but just an absolute
show that he just put on that first one just
straightaway center field where we were wondering did he get? Enough,
yeah he got An oh, yeah he came back into
the field and now we'll see how it closes out

(36:46):
With iranda coming. Up this is just, fun. MAN i,
MEAN i get it's a different, way it's not what
people but this is just. Fun this is just, fun.
MAN i, Mean randa's having a big year for The.
RAIS i think he's like third or fourth in The
American league in. Hitting he's having big. Year only has
eleven home runs, though but you, know, hey it's batting.
Practice everybody plays home run derby and batting practice so

(37:06):
here's right. NOW i wanted to hit at least one
So alonso could hit the walk. Off, LIKE i really
want To randa to hit a home run here as
Much National league guy AS i. Am, NO i would
rather The American league win if, well, NO i, don't
because that would Mean alonzo would have a bad final. Round, Yeah,
NO i want him to hit. It SO i Want
alonzo to be the. HERO i, mean that's WHAT i.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Want so what you.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
Need randy one two home? RUNS i need him to
hit two or, no at least, one just, one just,
one just. One his first, swing he hit one too
shallow center. Field he has two swings. Left he's got
to hit at least one to keep it, going or
The National league. Wins decided to help with. It i'm
not even gonna wear my. Cap, well you got to
be comfortable up. There it's a home it's home, Run,

(37:46):
derby it's. Homered you gotta be. Comfortable. Randa second? Shot
is that a home? Run is that a home? Run the?
Wall all that is off the? Wall so he has
one off the brick. Wall so hit above the yellow
for to be a home. RUN i, know BUT i
couldn't tell if it hit above the. Yellow that's. Good
you got good. Vision So aranda's got to hit a

(38:08):
home run here or The National league. Wins And i'm,
Sure babe THE. Mvp, YEAH i mean three, swings three
home runs he, did he might get it, anyway because
the Best aranda can do is tie. It and then
If alonzo just hits, one.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Had.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
One, yeah but, STILL i, Mean Babe schwarber kind of
kind of took the especially when it went down to
one kneed and that's gonna be it Because randa a fly,
ball the shallow center field valual fly. Ball no home
runs in the final round For, Arranda babe schwarm who
said he was feeling the. Pressure the fireworks are going.

(38:45):
Off The National league. Wins, oh, Still randa's getting high
fights for his. Teammates any nice, job you, stak nice,
job you. Stink who's gonna call for? Aired that's. It
it's your that's the guy you had throwing pitches to our. Guys, yep,
yep that's all your. Fault you had. Three the closest it, came,
yep off the. Brick you can see it off up

(39:06):
top above the Ellen fan. Duel so we just, saw
we just saw the first ever home Run derby to,
win And aranda pop up off the, wall pop, up
And i'm Sure Kyle schwarber is gonna wind. Up i'm
sure or he splits it With alonzo or he, splits
But i'm sure yourself Into. Alonzo, NO i Mean alonzo
picks up and held. HIM i, mean this is how

(39:26):
much weight that That schwarber has. Lost alonso was able
to pick Up Babe schwarber now and hold him in
the air and hug him because he's the big. Hero
four to three is your final. AMAZING i mean this
swings home RUNS. Mvp this IS i, MEAN i, mean
if you don't like what you saw tonight on The
