Jason and Mike think CeeDee Lamb’s defense for drinking in Las Vegas was weak. The Texans  pull an impressive upset over the Bills on TNF and the AFC now has zero teams that are elite.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Welcome in side hour to the Jason Smith Show
with my bas friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Yeah, Juli, Jesus.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
For over forty years, Tirerack's been open. Customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Ship
fast and free, backed by free road hazard protection with
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac dot Com
is the way tire buying should be. Seven minutes to
go in the fourth quarter, and every I feel like

(00:56):
every time I look up, every play is the same.
Josh Allen the shotgun and he's running.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
For his life. That sounds about right. A six sack
as Settle takes him out. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Eighteen out of twenty three for one hundred and seventy
eight yards, no touchdowns. One interception, sacked six times tonight
for the first times the twenty twenty two Wildcard game
against Miami, when he was sacked seven times. Somehow the
Bills are within a score. Somehow they're in a chance
position to potentially win this game. But man, every single play,
Josh Allen is running for his life. I mean, yes,

(01:29):
it's part of how legit this Texans defense is. Again,
we talked about it last hour top three defense in
the NFL, Texans, Broncos, and the Rams. But still to
watch this from the Bills, who allegedly you think are
gonna be and are gonna separate themselves at some point.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Yeah, I don't think that's happening. It's good to see
the spotlight put on Joe Brady because it's on his
shoulders to make something happen here against this defense, as
we talked about in hour one, generally getting pretty good
natural pressure right, not having to bring extra bodies, keeping
gut in coverage. This possession, they had a nice little
dump off to Khalil Shakir who made a couple of

(02:06):
guys miss and then literally as we're speaking out a
third and ten, Allen be and dragged in the ground
plunks the back of his offensive.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Lineman, just trying to get rid of the football. He
was going to be sacked for a seventh time. He
just gets rid of it now he was in the pocket.
Maybe there was a receiver close enough, but I think
because the ball deflected off of his offensive lineman, they're
not going to give him intentional grounding.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
But I think if it hit the offensive linement, isn't
that a penalty eligible receiver.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
No.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
No, he's not throwing it to the guy like you
get like the lineman wasn't turned around, like he was
still blocking. So it's a lineman in the back. So
they'll be trying a field goal to try to make
this a four point game again. Twenty three to sixteen.
It would be a three point game, but the Bills
missed an extra point on the first touchdown of the game,
James Cooks big touchdown run, so they're still going to
need a touchdown no matter what happens the result of

(02:56):
this field goal.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
It'say dismal end to what was a promising drive. I mean,
the big play to Shakir who coughed went up earlier,
So trying to atone for that tiptoeing down the sideline,
but then teach clearly his football doesn't lie tonight with
Shakir nicely done. When we talk about Settl Daniel Hunter,

(03:17):
I mean you name him. They've gotten that Josh Allen
over the course of the night at forty four yards,
the little bit of saving grace for some fantasy owners,
perhaps depending on league settings, but all fairly dismal.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
This is the week you right now you want to
be going against Josh Allen?

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Absolutely, I'm looking on am I going again? This is
the week I want to go against him? Man, he's
got like four points. Oh, this is gonna be awesome.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
One hundred and eighty three yards and interception, six sacks,
sons counted against and how many yards rushing does he have? Twenty?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
So it's worth about seven fantasy points somewhere around there,
depending on well, you.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Know what, I'll look on my roster and see exactly
what he's done for me thus far. But didn't you
mention him for Torod Taylor? Oh of course you did that. Yeah, no, sure,
I kind of like sneaky, sneaky, kind of got it. Ah.
But let's see, he's currently worth eight point three two points.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Now, wait a minute, Monci says he's worth one point
in her league. Well, but she she might be getting
the sacks taken away.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Do you lose that?

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Like?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Wow? That used to be a default for.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
The sacks, minus two for the interception, so.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
You know, wow wow.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
So not big fat zero, not big big fat one.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
But he's got one a little more than Quin's Quintin Johnson.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
He was just doing cardio that day. This was getting sacked.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
You have been the Fantasy cooler this year. Every time
someone comes up with a bad Thursday Night performance, they're
on your team. Tell me your roster, so I make
sure I don't start any of my guys on Thursday night.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
In this one where I have Josh Allen, Jamier Gibbs,
Jalen Warren, Teteroah McMillan, Davante Smith, Harold Fannin, Chase Brown,
Prater is a Mike Prater, the kicker. Matt Pralady missed
up etra points an extra yeah, yeah, yeah, so you
have two.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
You have Josh Allen and Matt Prater going to and
Praiders really kicked the field goal.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
You get negative for the extra point. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
He has more than than Allen.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're at about five points seven. Wow,
that's yeah, yeah, Monci, I'm very sorry. We're going to
order Wienerschitzel to get fries. So there's that.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Okay, Yeah, so you know.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
There's like I said, we try, We tried to make
positivity Thursday night here, we had kind of I remember.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
The last time I had Wiener system pries.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
The last time we had what that place with the
guy in the place Wiener.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I will say it if you want.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
Yeah, I don't remember the last time I had fries
from there, And I think the last time I did,
I was not a vegetarian and I had chili cheese fries.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Wow, okay, I thought you've been a vegetarian for a
long time.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Like ten years. That's a long I've that's the last
time I went.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Last time?

Speaker 5 (05:56):
Why would I go? You know what I'm saying When
it's I didn't know the.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Name of this place, you should talking about what the
Wiener Schnitzel. I honestly don't know if I've ever actually
had Wiener Schnitzel. Wiener Schnitzel is good.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
Yeah, no, they're chili cheese hot dogs were really good.
Neither am I and they were.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Good, especially being a vegetarian. It's hard.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
When I was corn dogs were good like I was
a fan.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
But if I go, I drive down towards uh you know,
Knots and go to Portillo's Import.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
A little bit, to Porthos next to Notts.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Okay, so really quick. What's the name of that place again?
Portillo's No, no, no, the other one Porthos.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
No, no, the other one the W's secret options. See
what's again?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
What's the name of wier? Did you say you three
times fast.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
Winner schnitz soul? I think fast.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
That's not fast, that's not fast it all. Sometimes you
have the cadence where you say murder w s.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
She wrote, that's like that's fast, like like the Jets
offenses fast, which is not fast to Taylor fast.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
This is like me trying to roll my rs. I
can't roll over.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Oh yeah yeah, not anyone can roll not everyone can
roll their ours?

Speaker 1 (07:04):
No no, uh do you think Ceedee Lamb conrolls our?
So we now know why Ceede Lamb and George Pickens
were benched for the first three plays The Cowboys Monday
Night went over the Raiders. This is because Ceedee Lamb
said that both he and Pickens were at Red Rock
Casino having dinner and drinks.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Red Rock. I've been to Red Rock Casino in Vegas.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
They have a really great uh uh. They have a
great child watch at Red Rock, which is phenomenal. Like
you can drop your kid off there and your kid
has the greatest time in life. You can go to
the movies and go gamble. Like the child watch is amazing, right,
Like we.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Gotta talk about that. Yeah, I know, you get on
me for movie watch. Yeah, we're you know what, kids,
We're gon we're gonna go gamble.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
The child Watch at Red Rock Casino is this big
area for kids from like three years old to like nine.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
I thought you were gonna single holiday from one to
ninety two.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
They give them any kind of food they want, you
know you want them, and they give you the bill.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
At the end.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah, your kid had this and this and here's your bill. Okay, fine,
but they'll watch your kid if you want to go gamble,
go to them now. We actually went to Red Rock
Casino and we went to the movies, so they watched
our kids while they while we went and went to
the movie. We went to go see one of the
Superman movies. This was a few years ago, and we
came out. We're like, okay, great, they go, here's your bill.
Your daughter had four popsicles and a hot dog. Oh

(08:22):
okay great, so she just gets She was like Zoe,
he was like five, No, it was it actually wasn't
too bad. It was like fifty bucks or something like that.
But like Zoe loved it. There there, you know, she
was there with her friends, like there were four and there.
I was like, wow, this is fantastic.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Did they teach them how to roll dice while you
were off at the movies? Shake them up, Shake them up,
Shake them up, Shake them She was running game in
the back, so she's actually ahead, but red right, and
they got a great lazy river out there. Oh yeah yeah,
so ceedee.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Lamb and George Pickens were there for dinner and drinks
and they missed curfew. Now there was reports. This is
my favorite part of the story, Lamb telling reporters he
and Pickens were at Red Ro Casina, I know, having
dinner and drinks. He denied he was throwing up outside
the casino, which had been mentioned on social media.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Reportedly at seven point thirty in the morning, right, like
an old night.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yeah, yeah, this is not like, oh I missed it
by twenty minutes and I'm throwing up. But it was
out that he was throwing up outside the casino and
Ceedee Lamb, according to reports, said no, no, I didn't.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
I can hold my liquor.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Oh oh okay, okay, oh sorry, Like he was gonna
get suspended more if he was throwing up, and not
just from missing curfew.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
I mean, look, it's a badge of honor. It's one
thing to be late. I mean, people are late. They say,
all right, I miss curfew. I mean you miss curfew
growing up. I'm sure yeah, ye yeah yah, the belt
might have found me. I mean but you know, yeah,
you move on. You're not late again, but you know
you have consequences for that. And again, depending on star players.
We talked about it and surmised that this was the case.

(09:50):
They missed a curfew, and what are you gonna do
star players. It's like Jimmy Johnson always said, I'd wake
Troy up if he fell asleep in a meeting. What
happened to the last guy? Cut? Yeah? Yeah, whereas these
you guys, what did you miss? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:03):
We went three and out. All right, get out there.
I'll tell you this right now. First of all, you know,
it took me a long time to realize, Oh, being
able to drink a lot and holding your liquor and
saying that is not the best thing to brag about.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
No, but he's say I can hold. I'm not throwing up.
I'm not the home maybe drunk as hell. Oh but
I ain't throwing up drunk as hell, but no throwing
up three a m.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
And my page is still blowing up, Like it took
me a while to realize, Oh, that's not a badge
of honor, that that's really not that.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Hey, you know how much I could drink?

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yeah, okay, not really something you want to throw out there.
Not on the top of my tinder page. That's not there.
But you know, to say that.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Depending on what you're trying to attract, it.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Might be I hold, I can hold my liquor. No
where it wasn't me. Oh so then we're not going
to suspend you because you didn't throw it. If you
threw up, we'd suspend you. But three plays for missing curfew.
With all of this, we like to think of the NFL,
and you think of the old old school coaches that
and even guys like Mike Tomlin now who are hey,
when you run a foul of our rules, that's the

(11:05):
one place you are going to sit, and it doesn't matter.
We are gonna make an example out of you. And
while yes, there was always a rule for the stars,
you know, hey, okay, like you said for Troy, if
Troy fell asleep at meeting, I wake them up the
other guy's cut, I guarantee you. Even with the lesser players,
the lesser stars, stuff like this happens way more often

(11:27):
in the NFL, to the point where guys that are
missing meetings and habitually late to meetings don't get benched,
don't get anything happen to them. I think teams try
to be the disciplinarians like they've been to, try to
to be teams that say, hey, you know what, if
you miss a meeting here, if you miss curfews, you
miss this, you are not gonna play. You're gonna bench

(11:47):
for a while. I guarantee you stuff we don't find out.
They let so many things slide. All this discipline we
think happens in the NFL, forget it, and even gave
it look Mike Tomlin. I mean, Antonio Brown still played
every week. Le'Veon Bell still played every week.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
All started with the Jalen Ramsey thing. You got thrown
out of a game. Yeah, hey, you spin out a guy.
You do what comes to Nashville, right, I mean, it
was one of the greatest six second sound bites of
recent memory. But but to that point, right, like we
we have Abduel Carter Uh coach Kafka had different times
for the meetings.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yeah yeah, And dew Prter, who is disappointed and missed
all kinds of meetings this year. It doesn't matter the matter.
He's not even a star yet, He's just a high
draft back. I guarante this happens so often. It's I
guarantee you it's so rampant because we've gone away from
the era where it's disciplined in the player, because that's
not kind of where we are in sports. In life,
we have been much more relaxed when it comes to

(12:44):
rules and and how disciplined you want to be in
what punishment should be for people across the board in all,
in all factions of life like where it is not
just in sports. So we've come down from that to
the point where now, yeah, that seeped its way into sports,
into football, where yeah, I missed a bunch of meaning
it doesn't matter. Oh we coddle criminals and distrants, and
here in sports there's breaking rules and there's breaking rules.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
It happens way more often, no, I guarantee it. And
the fact that you churn through coaches as fast as
you do, they're disposable. Even if you have a bit
of success, you could still be out after a year.
We've watched a number of teams do that. I have
an opportunity to draft this guy he would go well
and pair well with this other style of coach, or
this guy became available right now. So how much are

(13:32):
you get to push? Also, free agency, you're trying to
get guys to come in, and if you are a
well entrenched coach, think about I'd love to have been
a fly on the wall and wish we had videotape
of some of the meetings evaluating potential free agents. Say
for a Tom Coughlan or Bill Belichick led team sitting
there with the feed up, So what do you think
about this guy? It's like, well, Ruber, is this nah?

(13:53):
Beat it right? I mean, but Tom Coughlin. Right, if
you weren't ten minutes early, you were late of thing
for meetings. That's just not the way it works anymore.
I mean, look at Schottenheimer. Immediately after those guys made
one play each in that game, he was over there
hugging him like they were best long lost play.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Yes, yeah, I mean, look, the discipline is out the window, right,
three play. You're missing three plays. Really, I'm throwing a
hammer down at you. Yeah, you're missing three plays. The
other thing is it translates to raiders. He could have
missed the first three quarters, it wouldn't have mattered. But
it also translates into what we see on the field.
How many presnep penalties and just sloppiness do we see
from a lot of these squads. It's no surprise that

(14:32):
that extends into all the other facets of running an
organization exit. About a Fresca exit swelling down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. It is
coming down to the wire on TNF the Bills with
the football. We are at the two minute warning. They
are facing a third and one. It is a twenty
three to nineteen lead for the Texans. Coming up next

(14:56):
Is it a Josh Allen rescue? Is it a couple
of sacks of Josh Allen?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Game is over?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
We got that, plus another update from America's favorite team
full of dysfunction, the Philadelphia Eagles. That's next, right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yeah, you blubber list Jam and me.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 7 (15:48):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships, and if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue you on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 7 (16:12):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen to over Promised
with Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts
or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Wow, Wow, Joe Brady might wind up being a head
coach just for that one play call for the Bills
moments ago, thirty five seconds left in the fourth quarter.
The Bills have the football. It's gonna be a third
and one, probably gonna use a time out here, twenty
eight seconds left to go. They have the ball at

(16:47):
the Texans seventeen yard line. How did we get here?
The Bills were facing a fourth and twenty seven fourth
and twenty seven after a third down sack and a
holding penalty. Yeah, which the Texans declined fourth and twenty
seven from their own twenty five yard line, like this

(17:08):
is it. The game is over. At this point, the
Bills run a hook and ladder play and the pitch
back to Khalil Shakir middle of the field. He runs,
doesn't just get the first down, gets an extra fifteen yards.
They gained about forty yards on a fourth and twenty
seven mainly because Derek Stingley left his zone on the play.

(17:34):
When the pass goes to the middle of the field,
he goes to the middle Shakir cutting across the field.
He's got to stay in his zone. Something I learned
in high.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
School early I was hey, listen, jay home.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Not that I'm an NFL defensive back, but I knew, Hey,
I knew when to stay in my lane. I knew
I had to stay in my zone all the time, right.
I knew, don't leave your zone. You're the last guy
on that side of the field. And Stingley decides to
run in and try to make the tackle. When if
he stays in his zone, which is near the side
Khalil Shakira is not getting the first defensive hero ball,
not getting the first down, and Stingley goes in and

(18:08):
I can just see the film review tomorrow is going.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
To be what the blank are you doing? What the
blank are you doing right here? Because it's easy. Shakiraz
does have to make any move, doesn it to beat
a guy? Nothing?

Speaker 1 (18:19):
And they get a first down, and now they have
it fourth and one at the seventeen yard line of
the Texans, and it looks like it's going to be
fourth and six because it's going to be a false
start penalty on the bill. So now fourth and six,
down by fourth, twenty four seconds left to go. But man,
I'll tell you Joe Brady, I'd make him a head

(18:40):
coach just for that play.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Call. I really I got Palmer, the former Charger with
the toss back to Shakir flying across that put him
over one hundred total yards for the night. The veteran
Dion Dawkins, who's been a little chesty up and talking
about Keon Coleman and all his stuff. It's the big
penalty here, obviously. The ferocity of this Houston passers something

(19:05):
we've talked about all night, and there was the opportunity
for Stingling to make the big play and put them
in position to at least have a shot. But now
we've got a little bit of controversy. It looks like
we've got a flag on the field that'll extend some things.
Waiting on a call, but absolute insanity right now, a
lot of guys jumping around in finger pointing.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
So it was a fourth and sixth play. Josh Allen
is intercepted. There is a flag on the play. We're
all waiting to see what it is, and it is
an offensive pass interference call. The turnover stays, the penalty
has declined. The Texans will kneel on the football once

(19:51):
and walk out of here with a twenty three to
nineteen victory over the Bills, and.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Davis Mills has a three game winning streak.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Davis Mills. I told you early in the show when
I told my friend four years ago, by Davis Mills,
rookie stuff, He's gonna be good, get in there and
sell sell took him four years.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Now.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
We can sell all this day to buy a couple
of Davis Mills. I may or may not paraded through
a dollar box at one point once he was deposed
after being a turnover machine. But how often do you
see an offensive pass interference called in a big spot. No,
not at all. We've not seen a replay to see
how egregious it was just yet, just a lot of

(20:30):
finger pointing and a frankas in the middle of the field,
bodies kind of flying all over the place. But the
Dawkins false start just takes everything off the board. Right.
You can't do a Tush push, you can't do the
Josh Allen. Hey, I'm just gonna jump over people for
a first down like they did back in the first quarter.

(20:51):
Instead you have the last second throw intercepted over the
middle or his another turn over. It was just a
very short four years ago when I said, Davis Mills second,
get ready, Davis Mills is going to be a star,
get in there. We just had to get to now

(21:11):
for Davis Mills. Just had to get to now.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
And now Davis Mills has put himself in the conversation
for Hey, maybe I can be someone's bridge quarterback. May
maybe I could be the next Sam dartled I could
be the next Geno Smith. I could be the next
Jets quarterback. As they wait to draft somebody else in
twenty twenty seven, Suddenly Davis Mills has put himself in
the conversation to be one of those guys.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Yeah, And it is curious, I mean because look, you
go back to the first quarter, there were a couple
of throws that I would just like you want to
do with Stingley. I'd be going, hey, Davis, what the
blank is this right? Because they were unconscionably bad throws,
missed wide receivers to where maybe it was you know
the old play by play an analyst. Boy, he'd like

(21:54):
to have that one back. I think they said that
four times, like it was a glitch in the video
game in their first possessions. But he made some big
throws late. They manage it well. The defense came up
and rose up to the task, as we've seen all
year long. But in a league where we see such
churn at the quarterback position, I was writing it down, right,
what are we in the mid forties when we're talking

(22:15):
about different starters at this point forty six by my
last count, and this week we have Captain Kirk Schadour
with Rogers goes or doesn't, Mason Rudolph, perhaps Mills here
on his third third straight win, Flaco Burrow, Jackson Dart
coming back in perhaps maybe not your guy, Tarad Taylor Dyler, Shuck,

(22:39):
Jacoby Bursett. I mean, you got a bunch of guys
finding their way up through the depth charts and having
some meaningful snaps here coming into week twelve, And for Houston,
this puts them at six and five, suddenly very much
alive in a nondescript AFC South.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
We have more coming up in ninety seconds, but first month,
cy Bolanos has what's in the wide world of sports.
She's likely going to begin with minus one, which I
believe is what Josh Allen's final passing totals and fantasy
points are for this game.

Speaker 7 (23:10):
Is that how he ended?

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Let me see, I'm gonna be so mad.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
I know he got sacked again.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
I know, I know he got sacked.

Speaker 5 (23:16):
He do Oh I forgot about the pick?

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Yeah, big zero, big big Bay got down to zero.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
That's right?

Speaker 3 (23:26):
How about that?

Speaker 6 (23:28):
We're par Is that right? We're at We're at par
We're at par We're at zero. I'm doing real well, guys,
real well. But you know what my win probability is
only forty four percent?

Speaker 5 (23:40):
Is that that bad?

Speaker 1 (23:41):
Bad?

Speaker 5 (23:42):
There's a chance.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
You're saying that there's a chance, and I think Houston
is saying that there's a chance. Houston held on to
defeat the Bills twenty three to nineteen. Josh Allen struggled.
He was sacked eight times. He completed twenty five or
thirty five passes for two hundred and sixty two yards.
No touchdowns in any way, shape or form for Allen.
He did have two interceptions. Houston started zero to three.

(24:06):
They are now six and five. They've won three in
a row with Davis Mills in that quarterback and he
ended sixteen of thirty one hundred and fifty three yards
and two touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
C J.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
Stroud is expected to be back for Week thirteen from
his concussion.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
But the Houston Texans, they make a move and they
beat the Bills.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
At home, all right.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
Other NFL news, Bengals quarterback for a second day in
a row, Joe Burrow.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
Full participant at practice.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
Colts added Daniel Jones to their injury report today with
the calf injury. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson returned to practice
after missing Wednesday with an ankle.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
Issue, and Packer's running back Josh Jacobs, who's dealing with
the knee injury.

Speaker 6 (24:45):
He did practice today as a limited participant when it
comes to the NBA. Tyres Maxy put on a show
in Milwaukee, dropping fifty four points to go along with
nine assists as a seventy six Ers top the Bucks
one twenty three to one fourteen in overtime. Grizzlies crushed
the Kings one thirty seven to ninety six. Sacramento will
be without Demontes Sabonis for about three to four weeks,
maybe more, but he suffered a partition of partially torn.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Meniscus in his left knee. He's going to be reevaluated.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Then.

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Sacramento has lost eight in a row. Magic outscore the
Clippers one twenty nine.

Speaker 5 (25:14):
To one oh one.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
LA is one in nine in their last ten games.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Kill me.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
Spurs beat the Hawks one thirty five to one twenty
six and miss for you.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
It really is.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
This is a bad night.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
Yah, yeah, no, it's going.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
I just can't and uh in.

Speaker 6 (25:29):
Spurs beat the Hawks one third five to one twenty six,
dearing Fox twenty six points in that one. And then
in the NHL some games are still going on. The
Avalanche did take the lead from the Rangers there of
four to three with two minutes to go in the
third period. With five minutes to go, the Golden Knights
are up on the Mammoth four to one. Also five
minutes to go between the Stars and the Canucks, but
they're tied at two apiece. Senators and Ducks are tied

(25:51):
at one apiece with five minutes to go, and with
about four minutes to go, Kings and Sharks are tied
at two a piece.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
Yeah, b f Z big bare.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
It's better than minus right.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Well yeah sure, still yeah, yeah, but at some point
it's becomes the if you're really gonna fail fail spectacularly.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Sure, So if you can get down into the negatives,
it'll be a story you never.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Forget, sure, and you never want to face Josh Allen
in fantasy anytime you look and go, great, I got.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Allan this, Yeah, but you know who I'm playing against.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
This is the week where you're like, okay, okay, I
want to put it out there that I'm hoping to
face him this week, not wanting to anger the football
god saying oh, you want to face Josh Allen looking
at you next week when he plays the Jets and
he has seven touchdowns, like this is the week You're
just quietly going okay, if it's Josh Allen this week.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
I'm cool. Yeah, I'm so agitated right now because I
haven't been a match up against Fabiano. But you said
you mentioned to start to Rod Taylor. Yeah, okay, I
see you're good then, I.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Mean I held firm. Yeah yeah, well you you know me.
You have the same number of points as you had
going into right, all right, anything laughs at our misfortune.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
I'm just saying. Look, I'm just saying, MONSI, we have
fries coming.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
Do you have tequila coming too?

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Yes, that's later, special tequila fries. You dipped the fry
into tequila and you eat. Oh yeah, it's fantastic. Yeah, sure, tequila.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Fr Why why? Now?

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Look, now here's the thing. Listen to think about the
Texans for a side. Right, Texans were oh and three. Right,
we'll get to the bills in a few minutes. But
just to think about this for a second, they were
oh and three. Very tough schedule to start, and it
looked like this big Super Bowl window for the Texans
was closing.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
C J.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
Stroud wasn't quite the same guy he was me. Maybe
c J.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Stroud's a guy that peaked as a rookie would be
the first quarterback but slowly the playmakers they brought in,
they sort of fell off. Nico Collins has turned out
to be a revelation, one of the top white outs
in the NFL, but all the help they brought in
either was getting injured. They got news today Joe Mixon
is not gonna come back the rest of the season.
Running games in the hands of Nick Chubb and Woody Marks.

(28:12):
And Woody Marks is just okay.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
It's you know, he's not fantasy hero splash now and again,
but he's undersized. You're run him like a bell count.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
No, your other wide receivers. Tank Dell is still injured.
When you thought he was gonna come in and take
over the league, he can't stay on the field. The
defense is terrific, but you're only gonna get so far
with that. At oh to three, that's an easy time
to say not working for us, and we're packing it in,
or we're just gonna go out there and and and
go through the motions. And then CJ. Stroud gets hurt,

(28:43):
and then you really think, okay, now we're cooked. Now
we're cooked. Our quarterback is hurt, the the best thing
we have on the team. And again, maybe CJ. Stroud
peaked a couple of years ago, because he's not he's
got quite been as good the last couple of years,
and instead they have ridden the defense and Davis Mills
has come in and he's made enough plays. He hasn't

(29:03):
been crazy, he hasn't been ground break, he's not come
in all of a sudden he's lighting up, but he's
throwing for two hundred two hundred and fifty yards a game,
couple of touchdowns, he's protecting the football. Think in his
three starts it's five touchdowns now one pick. Quarterback rating
is a little bit above league average. He has come
in and shown you that you don't always need incredible

(29:24):
quarterback play to succeed. You just need a guy that
can make plays. Now and again, you know we make
fun of the game manager, but that's kind of what
you need. If you have a quarterback this comes in
and just doesn't absolutely torpedo your success, you can win games.
Look how good did I just I just say this?
Because the first team comes to my mind? What would
the Jets record be if they just got average quarterback?

(29:45):
Take the Jets in the brown average quarterback average play
not great. No, I'm not saying you need great, but
you just got whatever the average number and average quarterback
rating and average production you get, what would their record be?
Probably around five hundred, right, same thing for the brown
it's probably around five hundred. That's where you are. And
for the Texans to be able to come off of

(30:06):
that zero to three start and your injured quarterback and
here's your backup who's been there for a few years,
it really says something that it's not impossible, and that
teams quit when they want to teams it's not well,
all of this stuff happened, and you would quit too.
You would quit too. No, because the Texans had ample
opportunity to say, not our year not happening. Too many injuries,

(30:27):
what are we gonna do? Mixing is out before the
season begins? Stroud in the middle of the No, no, no, hey,
we're rallying behind our new quarterback and we're gonna get
this done. We're gonna let the defense take the lead.
And clearly tonight, my goodness, Josh Allen, I don't even
think he would get comfortable in the pocket take two
steps where he's flushed out and running for his life.

(30:47):
And he was absolutely bamboozled, and he couldn't find anybody downfield,
likely because I'm sure they're seeing guy watching all twenty two,
but I'm sure receivers weren't open because he had a
tough time. That's why he's spending so much time trying
to hold on to the football. So this was a
case where the defense is that good and it shows you, yeah,
are you gonna win the Super Bowl? Probably not, but

(31:08):
you can still have a big season, you can still win,
you can still make the playoffs. You quit when you
want to. Because this team had ample opportunity to say
we're to roll over and say that's it, we're done,
we are finished this season. And they could have gone
out tonight and just gone through the motions against the Bills,
and the Bills could have gone out with a subpar effort,
maybe won this game like twenty four to thirteen or
something like that. But instead, here are the Texans who

(31:30):
continually harassed Allen the entire game, wouldn't let him breathe,
and even that final possession when the Bills had the football,
and they've got that miracle fourth and twenty seven play
on the hooking ladder play where you would think that
could break a defense, right there that could break you. Man,
you allow fourth and twenty seven, that's a play that

(31:50):
breaks you. Instead, they make four big plays in a
row and they get the turnover on the final fourth
down play by the Bills, and they wind up winning
the football game. That is apps bleep and resiliency, man,
And that's one of the best things to be proud
of a team, and is that no matter what happens,
they are resilient and they don't give up.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
And that's this Texas team. They're absolutely resilient. They look
at they rally for Damiko Ryans, and you look at
the defensive side of things. We've talked about it a
lot with Mike Vrabel and some of the other coaches
that the team starts to embody. But you look at
this squad. You get Christian Kirkback who played a big role.
You got all those Iowa State receivers that find their

(32:28):
way into the mix for Davis Mills. But you know, defensively,
they became such a nuisance up front that we saw
Dion Dawkins take that huge false start penalty. Right instead
of fourth and one, it's fourth and six. Changes everything, right,
from a long one to a fourth and six totally

(32:49):
changes the play calling, the time that it's elapsed, all
of that. So you're in these final throws and making
an opportunity for yourself. Now, the run game between Marx
and Chubb, we watched Chubb come in on a short
yardage play and it's kind of like watching Derek Henry
on a short yardage play. So we'll see who their
version of Mark Andrews becomes in future weeks. But for

(33:13):
the Texans, you're at six and five. Yeah, you're chasing Indianapolis,
but you're right on the heels of Jacksonville. They come
off a massive win over the Chargers, but do you
trust them week in week out?

Speaker 2 (33:23):
No.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
I mean, we've watched Trevor Lawrence and chronicled his entire
run here at Fox Sports Radio. So with just adequate
play and a nuisance of a defense, thirty three sacks
coming in, I have no idea how many pressures they
got tonight. I lost count, right, Josh Allen, every time
he go back, even on a five step drop, he
never got that second foot planet before he was on

(33:46):
the move and trying to reshuffle and trying to evade
guys coming straight up the gut. So for the Bills
offensive line. This is one you look in the mirror.
It's a tough task, but you gave youry no protection,
no opportunity to work. Now you don't have the number
one that's breaking free and breaking containment. We talked about

(34:07):
that in the first hour, but it really showed tonight
not having a Dulton Kincaid or someone who qualifies as
the number one as good as Shakir was in helping move.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
The chains exit up out a Fresca exit. Swolling down
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon,
we have more on the shocking Thursday Night football win
by the Houston Texans over the Bills. What does this
mean for the AFC playoff picture? That's next right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon, and not quite the Thursday Night Football the
Buffalo Bills expected.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
With the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Hallmark Christmas Holiday Holiday Holiday Holiday movie debuting.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
This weekend, we need a little more Chris miss now
more than ever.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
They lose on Thursday night to the Texans, really hoping
that hey, we're the springboard, we're gonna win on Thursday night,
to movies coming out Saturday, it's gonna be great.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
And they let all their backers down minus six and
the underhit. Yeah, twenty three nineteen we got. We didn't
get enough scoring to go over forty three and a half.
What was the uh?

Speaker 1 (35:19):
What could you have gotten odds that if I wanted
at halftime, I wanted to bet the under. Oh that's
a good question, because halftime you did you they were
you were seven points away.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Yeah, you didn't need much. Remember remember we talked about
it in points and we said, yeah, not so fast.
Remember just Monday night, Monday night, we were creeping. We
were gonna fly past forty nine and a half until
we weren't. Uh.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
But we're gonna hear from Josh Allen coming up in
a few minutes meeting the media right now after a
very disappointing Bill's defeat. So if you're looking at the
playoff picture in the AFC right now, Houston gets a
little bit more of your respect because you see them
they can beat teams like Buffalo. The team's right ahead
of them. Jacksonville have more confidence in Houston. The char Argers,

(36:00):
who knows they're jekyling hide. They look great one week,
but but they can't protect Justin Herbert the next. Uh
they're better than Pittsburgh, so I'd move Houston up. But
the bottom line is this. We are now into week
twelve in the NFL. We're getting to the point where
we're almost a month away from the end of the
regular season, and I don't believe in any of these
teams in the AFC.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
That's the beauty, right ze, How great is this for
us zero? The final seven weeks, You're gonna be absolutely insane.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
I believe in zero teams in the AFC. I believe
in I believe in Beatles. I believe in more teams.
I believe Lee Harvey Oswalld acted alone. I believe in
the UH.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
No, you want to tell people where that's from, in
case they don't know. Yeah, they're bits bulldrum. They know
it's okay, Well maybe they don't with sports movee Okay.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
I believe in zero teams as much as I like
the COT because remember, before the season started, I told
you the Coults are my long shot super Bowl Picky
get him at plus ten thousand.

Speaker 3 (36:54):
But I don't believe.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
I don't believe in the Colts, right, I don't believe
the are the Colts team that can win a couple
of games, even home game. And no, I don't believe
in the Colts. I don't believe in the Patriots because
I gotta beat somebody good more than once. Don't believe
them in a playoff run. I don't believe in the Broncos,
who still look like they're gonna have enough problems offensively.
Defensively great, but offensively they're gonna have problems. Pitt is terrible.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
They stink.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
They should not be They should just take wins away
from them because they're so overrated. I can't believe in
the Chargers because the Chargers are again every week they're
a different team. Buffalo now seven and four. They put
up way too many stinkers and even Josh Allen coming
off with six touchdowns. Yeah, tough, really really tough defense
to night. But still the Bills are seven and four.
The Jaguars don't believe in them. The Chiefs are five

(37:36):
and five. Baltimore's five and five. Those are your teams.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Like, that's it.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
I don't believe in anybody in the AFC. It's so
wid I can't tell you right now one team I
would say, oh yeah, yeah, they ahead of everybody else.
They should get out of the AFC. There are no fits.
Like everybody's in second place right now. It's like should
be like a six way tie for second place in
the AFC. Anybody can come out of this conference right now.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
Now with three sixty five, that's the remaining strength of
schedule for them. As we look ahead and look, it's
the holiday holiday, holiday season. You're supposed to be selling
belief and hope and wishing in all of those things,
kind of like it's eleven eleven or something like that.
But we look at this Houston squad. They've got the
eighth toughest schedule, remaining two games left against the aforementioned

(38:23):
Colts and those Chargers. And then on the other side,
whatever the Chiefs become. The Cardinals are pesky with Jacoby Brissett,
and then Geno Smith will never be deposed so long
as he's upright, Because find someone in your life who
loves you as much as Pete Carroll loves him but yeah,
you're right in the AFC, is there anybody you love? No.

(38:44):
We talked to Jason lockin four on Monday. What was
the first thing I asked him? All Right, where are
we at with Lamar Jackson? Because he don't look right? Yeah,
and right now he's walking around with three or four
things enumerated on the injury list, where they're running yardage
and running plays with Mark Andrews for crying out loud.
So you've got that change that needs to happen, and

(39:07):
just go on down the line. Kansas City is still
the If they get in, they're gonna be a pain
in the ass. You know exactly that that's setting up
the way the AFC is right now. As much as
we love what Drake May and company have done and
people are starting to get on board that bandwagon, perhaps
a little bit uh lover hate of Sean Payton decides

(39:27):
where you're at in the bow Nicks, Denver, Broncos. But yeah,
there's nobody that you just full wholeheartedly endorse. Right now, here's.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Where I am right to tell you where I am.
I would feel better about the Ravens. Their defense has
played a lot better right the last month they've really
they've really improved. But yeah, Jackson and and is he
is he? Where is he health wise? But I'm at
the point and I know the schedule is tough for
them the next month. But if Joe Burrow comes back
this week, you're a guy three and seven. They got

(39:57):
two games against Baltimore, right, they got ball. They it's
two games against Baltimore, Buffalo and New England. But Joe
Burrow's gonna be a jolt of adrenaline to this team.
And I could see them catching absolute fire over the
course of the next month and making a bit of
a playoff run here like that. That's where I'm at
in the AFCRE. I'm like, what do I see over

(40:18):
the next month? Like who can separate themselves? And the
big change would be Joe Burrow coming. That's the one
big change any team is gonna get.

Speaker 3 (40:24):
Yeah, this is like you've got a pay per view
and then it comes crashing into it. It's like, oh
my god, it's Joe Burrow.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Like I could see us, you know at Christmas going Man,
Burrow's got them back at five hundred and their last
two games are Arizona and Cleveland at home.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Man. Wow, Look at what Joe Burrow has done, Like
I could see that. And for this week, you know what,
if he is going to play, you know what, he's
gonna need.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
A lot of Yoshibash exit out about a Fresca exit
swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon again, don't believe in anybody in the AFC.
That's where we're at.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Straight ahead. We got more on Thursday Night Football.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
We got Josh Allen who will And everyone's favorite dysfunctional team,
the Eagles, has a brand new, fun dysfunctional story. Yeah,
I can tell you about that. More coming up next
right here, Jason and Mike. This is Fox Sports Radio.
