In the famous words of Jesse the Body Ventura, every
time someone would win the WWE Championship, when the count
was going one, two, three, he would say, monsoon we
got a new world champion. And that's exactly what we
have right now. Steve Desager has the breaking news with.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
US Breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
The Nuggets had never been to an NBA finals. They've
just won the title, taking Game five, four games to
one the series over Miami. Tonight's final ninety four eighty
nine and guys Jimmy Butler, with his thirteen straight points
for his team late in the game, got him a
lead with about two minutes left eighty nine eighty eight,
and Miami did not score in that last minute fifty eight.
(01:35):
Tonight Butler with a costly turnover with under thirty seconds
left and attempted a three in the possession after that
when he didn't need to miss that. After each of
those moves, they had to foul Denver, which wasn't making
free throws, did make the free throws after that five
point Denver win. The Nuggets are NBA champions.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Thank you very much, STEVEO again.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Ninety four to eighty nine the final, Denver Nuggets NBA
World Champions. Not how you thought it was gonna go. Oh,
thought somebody would at least get to one hundred points.
We didn't get that. But instead we got a lot
of defense, yeah, a lot of questionable shots.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
Selection shots selection was terrible.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
We have Jimmy Butler giveth and Jimmy Butler taketh away, but.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
Terrible, got himself trapped and then play that he did
to the Nuggets nine thousand times they got him on.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
But Nikoliokich leading the Nuggets with twenty eight points, sixteen boards,
four assist to what I'm sure is going to be
a unanimous NBA Finals MVP.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
The Nuggets are your world.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Champions now, Jason, he only had four assists. How did
the Heat lose this game?
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Well, just ask Eric Spolstra, because you know, according to
you know, Ramona Shelburn, he doesn't like that question about
you know, hey, Yokic can do his thing.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Doesn't like that.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Look, let's break down the biggest play of the game,
which which happened with just with with under twenty four
seconds left to go, The Heat were able to crawl
back in this thanks to an extremely generous foul call
that was allowed to stand. Jimmy Butler kicks Aaron Gordon
where the sun doesn't shine and somehow.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Gets three free throws.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
He made walked in front of his leg, did not
walk in front of him, just that he didn't stop.
Just you're gonna look at it, You're gonna feel, You're
gonna feel ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
You know, he didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
It was a bad call, It was a horrible call,
but it kept the Heat in the game. Hey, people,
people staying in tim I'm not I'm not tuning out
because the heater back in the game, so that he
get back in the game. And then it's then a
back and forth battle for the next couple of minutes,
really really entertaining, and the Nuggets are able to take
the lead. Yolkic is able to make a shot down
(03:53):
low and the Heat have the basketball again. Not a
lot of offense in this game, but Butler had has
been really hot, right He scored with thirteen straight points
for the Heat, you know, part of three of those
free throws in there. Butler still has it going on.
Bruce Brown makes a shot to give them a one
point lead with a minute and a half left to go,
and then KCP hits a couple of free throws with
(04:16):
twenty four seconds left. After a Jimmy Butler turnover, Jimmy
Butler has two plays. We're going to break down here
over the course the next couple of minutes. Butler takes
the ball down to the rack and they're down three
with again with with with this much time left, and
Jimmy Butler throws the ball out to try to get
(04:37):
it out because he's stuck because he picks up his dribble.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
It was a bad pass right now, I'm gonna say
it was.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
It was a bad pass, and Contavious callwell Polpe is
able to jump in front of it and then get
fouled and go down and make the two free throws.
But it's not like any of his teammates really, you know,
busted their ass to get open for they were I mean,
because that's that's what happens. Okay, Jimmy's going in for
a shot. Wait, he doesn't have the shot. What do
we do? Nobody is moving around, So yes, bad play
(05:04):
by Jimmy Butler one hundred percent.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
But at the same time, the Heat, who.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Are so really well coached, because everybody says this, the
Heat is still very well coached, don't find a way
to move around and at least keep the ball alive.
So they're down one Butler turns it over. Now they're
down three after KCP hits both free throws. Now the
Heat called time out with twenty four seconds left to go,
so they have a full time out to draw up
what they want to do, and they draw up a
(05:30):
play where they inbound the ball and they don't need
to go for three because there's twenty four seconds left.
It's an eternity in the NBA. You think, okay, let's
go in for a quick two. We foul because why
wouldn't you because the Nuggets weren't making free throws? Why
would you not put the Nuggets at the free throw line?
I get that they made it. They made a couple
there at the end. KCP made two and Bruce Brown
(05:51):
made two, but they've not been making them all night.
How do you not extend the game and put them
on the free throw line?
Speaker 4 (05:57):
So they inbound the ball.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
They have the ball right at the top of the arc,
and then Jimmy Butler breaks free for a catch and
turn three with about seventeen seconds left on the shot clock.
That has no prayer. The Nuggets get the rebound. It's
two made free throws by Bruce Brown and the Nuggets
are NBA champions.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
What the hell did the heat draw up on that?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Really, it didn't look like they knew like they want
anything they wanted to do, because they seem like, well,
are we gonna hold up and try to go for
a three?
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Are we gonna try to to?
Speaker 1 (06:28):
You know, milk some clock and get somebody open for
a three to tie the game, or what are we
gonna do? Or no, we're gonna try to get down
and get a hoop with like seventeen eighteen seconds left,
and instead Butler takes the ultimate heat check shots head
to their heat check, and it doesn't it's not even close,
and the Nuggets win. I don't get those last couple
of plays. The heat melted seed to there again, the
(06:49):
heat melted on the two biggest possessions of the year
when and they just handed the game to the Nuggets.
Here the pressure is too much, whatever it is, we're
gonna hand you this game. The turnover and then the
shot by Jimmy Butler. I really I'm watching the heat
going wow, maybe they were just done. Hey hey, hey,
Denver Nuggets, Congratulations your NBA champions.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
I mean, I guess you hit a point where we've
talked about this with other superstars and we're certainly not
suggesting or I'm not that Jimmy Butler's there, even though
the star did shine really bright for a while. But
scoring thirteen straight points, balls in his hand, all right,
Jimmy's gonna go to work. In other words, you get
(07:28):
caught star watching like we've seen with Lebron and Jordan
and so many others. All Right, they're in a zone,
they're taking it to the rack. They're gonna do whatever,
and not anticipating he's gonna pick up his dribble, because
picking up the dribble there made no sense either, right,
And Cacp, as they said, he filled the passing lane
like Jimmy Butler had so many times, especially towards the
(07:51):
end of the first half when they had a bit
of a surge there as well, So makes no sense.
But Cacp makes both free throws again an outlier on
what was a difficult night from the foul line. And
for the shot, you get the inbound it goes through
to Butler, who gets it to Robinson, back to Butler
(08:12):
who tries to shoot over Gordon. Now Gordon isn't gonna
get anywhere near getting kicked in the nether regions again, uh,
And Jimmy's gonna have an opportunity to shoot, but he
does enough to get hand up and do a flyby.
And the SHOT's awful. It's a bad it's a bad shot.
Both teams shot miserably from three point range, and this
(08:34):
was just the icing on the proverbial cake here. Since
I know you like cake so much, whether you go
and get your McDonald's celebratory cake because now they're celebrating
Grimace's birthday. I don't know if you saw that latest
Brian Come's birthday.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
I didn't get him any.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
So you can get a good purple shake in the
whole night yard, I guess. But either way, the voiceover
from the legendary Brian Cox, he can't swear, but it's
still good. But that that shot was awful. And then
there's just again a lot of standing around. Brown goes
and makes the free throws and that's it. You get
(09:10):
another three point attempt from Kyle Lowry that just adds
to the misery from the statistics standpoint. But the final
couple minutes of the game, unable to score, the Nuggets
finally hit a couple of free throws and all of
those things that you laud. He heaping praise onto Eric
Spolstra all season long and certainly during these playoffs. Right
(09:33):
an eight seed wins again, how many games have they
come back from a double digit deficit? Well, here they
look like they just rolled the ball on the court.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
You know what this guy what this means? Guys here,
what's know what this means? Right? What's that? DeAndre Jordan
NBA champion?
Speaker 5 (09:47):
That is right, didn't get it for Lob City, but
he gets it here and he played. That's just it.
He's not just collecting the ring. He gave him a
past well, but he gave him some minutes today they
really minutes.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Yeah, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
One sweat and one champion. Jordan can't play playing. Wonder
how many years ago was that though, where Mark Cuban
was stalking him and locking him in a room and whatever?
Speaker 6 (10:12):
What was that?
Speaker 1 (10:13):
No, no, no, no, no, he it was Blake Griffin
went to his house.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Yeah, to try to get him to play for the Clippers.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
They put a chair under the door, and Mark Cuban
was frantically driving around trying to.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
Find trying to find him.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Okay, yeah, no, Mark Cuban did not lock anyone into
a And I just knew the.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
Matters were involved there and it was how biss is
Chris Paul right now? Well, I mean they had a shot.
They made the move to give the Sun some run
and he couldn't stay healthy. Look out Last succeed and
proceed because I've seen a lot of denigration of this title.
Oh look at the path and look at this and
(10:51):
you beat who was on the schedule right, other teams
fall to the wayside. It's too damn bad.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Look.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
And all Stan Kronky does is win championships. All he
does is win win. All he does is win win.
I just collect titles, the Rams, the Nuggets here he is, Yes,
it's all let to go.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
All I do is win win. All I do is
win win.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
I'm just there was a microphone though.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
Did your avalanche as well? Of course?
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Yeah, all he doesn't win, that's it, that's all. I
want him to buy the Jets now because all he
does is win, right, he just buy the Jets now
because you win, man, all you do.
Speaker 6 (11:23):
Who knew Johnson right to the curve before the season starts?
Speaker 4 (11:27):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
He hates him all the way back in twenty fifteen.
That happened. That was at Andre Jordan Dallas. Mat was
not because it was.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
When we talked about DeAndre. We used to talk about
DeAndre Jordan.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Well you know what we did today because he gave
them good minutes when the starters got in foul trouble
only had to play three. He was minus two, did
have a block shot that was his contribution to the
box score. But he got in the game, so he's
a champion. He gave me updates that night that that
was going down.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Do you yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Remember it was everything was an emoji. Everything was an emoji,
like all the people were talking about em with emojis.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Where DeAndre Jordan.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Was, by the way, saying he also played three more
minutes than Tyler Hero did, who was activated earlier.
Speaker 6 (12:07):
I played as many minutes as Tyler.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah, you know, you know who they could have used
at the end with the needy of the three, Tyler Hero.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
Yeah, but they put him in uniform, and they took
away the look that he had with that bucket hat
and could have used them big old to her size sweatsuit.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Clearly not the hero that was needed TJ.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
And then usually a hero comes along, but not in
this case, Boyjuh. Tonight Show brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

(12:48):
Jokich is celebrating with his kid. Michael Malone is talking.
I'm sure he's saying, now talk about us now? Now
we we want do we want the spotlight? Now we
want the narrative? What do you have to say? Hey, Michael,
do you think that Lebron could have beaten the heat
by himself or just just you guys in den Red?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Just what's my question? So this is what's happening right now.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
We have so many things to get to, the legacy
of Nicola Jokic. Is this the most dominant NBA Finals
performance ever? One guy who we know is not happy
for the NBA Finals to end? And just what the
hell is Eric Spolster going to say about the final
twenty five seconds of this game? Keep it right here,
We're breaking down the Nuggets, your new NBA champions right
(13:30):
here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven

Speaker 1 (13:44):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon
Live from the tyraq dot com Studios where we're celebrating
the Nuggets ninety four eighty nine win over the Heat
they win the NBA title.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
All Stan Kronke does is when and.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
You know, I.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
Gotta ask this, I gotta ask this.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
So Kronky just does an interview with Lisa Salters as
they're giving away and giving out the Larry O'Brien Trophy,
and Lisa Salters has her microphone and Stan Kronkey decides
I'm going to talk to her like he like, I'm
telling you a secret, and he starts talking in her ear,
not into the microphone, and I.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Don't It was awkward.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
It was like it almost looks like they're at a
club and it's too loud, so I have to talk
to you by whispering in your ear to talk to
your ear.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Like Jas Spades is playing really loudly in your screenae baby.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
So then what happened was I counted all my money
and I saw how much I had left over, so
I went out and got another superstar player for the Rams.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Can you hear me? Okay?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
I mean it's so awkward that he's like, like I
want you to hear like you can't hear what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Just talking to the microphone.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Man, we're on Televison, we're on ABC where we're worldwide.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Just talk.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
That's why a microphone here, that's not where you talk
into my ear. And then I have to say, okay,
thanks Dan. What's Dan Kronkey just said? Was not just
talking to the microphone stand talking to the mic, just.
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Saying, you know, they're all better people than me. Because
I would have turned to Lisa Salters and said, are
you convinced he can play?
Speaker 6 (15:14):
Now?
Speaker 5 (15:15):
Did you see enough? Oh?
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Wow, look at you.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
Hey, if you're you're getting paid big money to be
on the top team of a sport, like we're not talking. Hey,
you're in the infancy of pickleball, and we've relegated you
to that in the middle of the night somewhere, and
eventually that you'll rise up. Oh you're a top team
and you're telling me you've never seen this guy play.
And then the sad thing was her comments were echoed
(15:41):
by a number of other people, prominent people in our business,
and it was insulting to the league and to I mean,
just the profession that we do. I claim that we
get to see it all, but to Wow, I didn't
really understand that guy, like he's been in a league
for years.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Yeah, but you listen, the Nuggets play on the West Coast,
so maybe it's tough to stay up to watch those
games or well, read the recap on the internet fair
very difficult.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
So I couldn't find the TikTok highlight. You couldn't get
an instagram from you know at Nuggets to tell me
what's going on with the squad.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Listen, I just I just look at the newspaper and
it says, you know, the game was at night.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
I get the end you used to get the show.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
I'm not gonna get it until the next day. But
then I forget because I didn't have the late results.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Yeah, Lakers at Nuggets in parentheses would have the n
They say, Oh so now I'm gonna get the Monday
night result in Wednesday's paper and find out exactly what happens.
Speaker 6 (16:38):
Then was Johnson twitter game?
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Guys? Maybe that's what it was. Who knows? Who knows that?
You know, I can't believe it.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
And it's so weird that you know, she you know,
she does the interview and says, I'm not really familiar
the okitch and now I'm giving you the LARRYO. Bright
here you Nikola Nicole, Hey, congratulations on wedding.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
That's great. Congratula, he'ssed the ring. There you go. Congratulations.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Maybe well, maybe that's what Kronkey was doing, was he thought, oh,
this is the one that's not familiar with with the
yokich Okay.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
I'm gonna you know what, this is not for this
is not for air.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
I'll push the microphone aside them and a whisper stuff
in the your going.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
You make sure you know who the hell Nikolie. You
could You don't go on some kind of show and
say you don't know this guy is all right? All right,
now you can ask me questions. I'll talk with the microphone.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
No, it's good. I like that. No, good squad. They
rolled through. They take care of business and for once,
the regular season matters, right, I mean you know, because
that was the lamentation of a lot of it. Ah,
what's the difference, especially when you see the Lakers making
a little bit of a run before they were humbled.
(17:42):
See what I did there taking using the terms of
the word irony, Well he still got swept. They were
back until they weren't. Uh, and then the heat as
a number eight seed and it's upset in the Apple Cars, like, no,
the the champion is still the one that that you know,
came through and was able to navigate whatever with the
(18:04):
road ahead. Was the stayed healthy, stayed available and guys
that had questions. I know that moment with Michael Malone
and Jamal Murray's one that's gonna be shown a lot,
you know, talking about how he thought he might have
been on the chopping block after his injury and instead no, no, no,
you're part of this squad. You're one of us. Michael
Porter Junior had himself a good night tonight. He had
(18:26):
struggled the entire finals, great playoffs overall, going into his
role and had embraced it and then struggled in these finals.
Has a big game for them when they needed them tonight.
Gordon and CACP and DeAndre Jordan are champions. Casep Yo
Nuggets are your champs. Lisa Salters gives out the trophy.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Maybe maybe it would have been better if she just
mispronounced like every name, like hey, I'm here with Stan Crowenicky, congratulations,
you aln't.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
Feel like to win your first title? Well, I'm not
new to this. What are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Hey, hey, mister Krowenikey, I wanted to I had a
question for you on this, sal stand Stan, great, Hey,
let's bring in let let's bring in your best player here?
Speaker 6 (19:13):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (19:14):
Stan? Why you so mad?
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Nicola? Jock it?
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (19:20):
No, I can't.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Now you pronounce it? You can't pronounce it that way?
Wait a minute, just hey, can someone get me a
pronunciation on this? Guys like, yeah, what do you mean?
Speaker 4 (19:26):
What do you need?
Speaker 1 (19:26):
It's j Okay, it's yo kich No, it can't be.
It did begin with the j j Okay. I see,
I know it's weird, but that's the j okay is
get me a pronunciation on that?
Speaker 6 (19:37):
Jason question for you?
Speaker 4 (19:39):
What do you got for Rosberg?
Speaker 6 (19:40):
How much Taco Bell are you eating? And Yokic is
honor tonight?
Speaker 4 (19:45):
I should go to I know what. This could be
a night for that.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
This could be a night let's celebrate like everybody did
when Jokic got drafted. Taco Bell commercial was playing on ESPN.
Let's celebrate with that. That's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
I like sweet victory.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
If I'm Taco Bell, I get out there and do
some kind thing on that tonight, Hey, in honor of that,
you know, if you like, uh oh, I don't know.
You can't can't bring a ticket stub to the game,
but you know you could give away free tacos if
you mentioned to cool.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
Now here's a question, though, you don't have a Gordy
in the mix, but would it be a bigger night
out with the Gronkowskis or the Jokices because I think
his brothers can get after it.
Speaker 6 (20:23):
Or baby Gronk.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Yeah, well, here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
That guy's got a whole other thing going on there.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
The Jokic answer.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
When he was asked Lisa Salters how it felt to
win the by Lisa's how it felt to win the.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Championship, he said, it feels great. We can all go
home now. I think the dude's tired. I don't think.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
I think he's just like, you know what, I just
want to go home and go to sleep for about
a week and a half.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
I am really really exhausted. We can all go home now.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
I think that's a I think that's a pretty good answer.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
You know, I'm the farm in the sulky.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Hey, we can all go home now? Well, we kind
of yeah, No, I'm just really really tired. I'm just
really really really tired. I can't get anybody came further. Uh.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Coming up in ninety seconds, we will have more on
the Nuggets championship and the big questions that have to
be asked. And these are all the questions that are
going to be asked now that you'll hear tomorrow on
all the other TV and radio shows.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. I think Tysher's playing this extra loud. It's
really extra loud, Miles.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
It really is reverberating the weed tonight. Do you know
how Denver is right now? Dude, there's a fog emanating
from the city.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
It's not just the altitude. This is what's happening right now.
The party in Denver is off the hook. As the
Nuggets are your NBA champions. They win Game five against
the Heat ninety four eighty nine.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Nikola Jokich is your MVP.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Some questionable decision making by the Heat in the final
thirty seconds really helping to and this decision over to
the Nuggets. We'll get to that coming up in about
ten minutes with our next guest. But a couple of
I told you sos for that, cause you know me, Mike,
I hate to say I told you so well.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
I mean you're also gonna try to say you told
us so and I mean there was no sweep, So
all of those predictions are null and void.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
I said, I said sweep. The Nuggets screwed it up.
Not my fault. It's not my fault. The Nuggets had
winning four, they should have won it four. It's not
my fault. They screwed us on. But your prediction was
my prediction. No, my prediction was actually right, and the
Nuggets were the ones that said, no, we don't want
it to be right, so we're gonna make it happen
the other way. No, I was still right. I was
still right. It wasn't my fault. I was telling the
Nuggets lost the game by by fifty and it got
(22:41):
out shot. No, they just decided, ah, we don't need
to play or would have been a boy fifteen. Yeah,
we're gonna give the game away. No, I turned out
to be right about that. It was then that screwed
it up. Like my prediction was absolutely correct. They screwed
up the result more than I did the prediction.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
Okay, I like the Lodjicke. I mean, keep talking like
that in a circle, convince three or four people. Yeah,
that's good. I'm not one of them, but you can
do that.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
But I hate to say I told you so. I
hates I told you so. You don't, uh No, I
really don't. I really don't. The Jets are gonna win
the suit. No, I hate say I told you so.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
But if you remember back in and I can find
the tweet back from the spring of twenty twenty one,
twenty twenty one, you gotta sweep, right, I said, the
Nuggets in a sweep in twenty twenty three.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Uh No, I said in a tweet, I'll find it
right here. I'll find it is.
Speaker 5 (23:32):
The whole Nuggets and Jazz things hang on.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Yeah, here it is where I got it right here
February of twenty twenty one. I oh, I actually said
at the end of last season, So the end of
the season before it. This is my tweet from February ninth,
twenty twenty one. I said at the end of last season,
the Western Conference era of the Jazz and Nuggets is
on the way. Well, the era of the Jazz may
already be here hashtag take note. Now the Jazz got dismantled.
(23:59):
They never got there, and Mitchell has gone, Rudy Gobert
is gone. Everybody was gone. But coming off of the
the Lakers championship in the bubble, hey, they looked like
they were the two teams that were up and coming
that you weren't going to be able to stop Jokic
on his way up. He was an MVP caliber player already.
(24:19):
Then he won two and then could have won this
year and didn't. Jamal Murray was terrific, but then he
got hurt. He missed a better part of two playoffs.
After that, the era of those two teams could have
been there. The Jazz didn't get there. They traded away
their two best players. COVID happened, they didn't get along.
Gobert and Mitchell had to be separated. And then Mitchell
wanted out and he thought he was going to be
a Nick and they said, no, screw the Knicks, We're
(24:41):
gonna send him to the Cavaliers because we just don't
like the way. The Knicks thought like we were gonna
get him. But I told you two years two and
a half years ago, the era of the Nuggets was coming.
And if you think this is gonna be a one
and done for the Nuggets and all they get their championship, Uh,
just what's gonna tell you that you think the Nuggets
(25:01):
are done? They're young, their core is young. Their two
best players are young. Jokicic is in his twenties, Joe
Murray's in his twenties. This is gonna continue on. They're
gonna get other players to fill in the gaps because, hey,
if I'm a guy who's a three or a four, hey,
I want to go there. I want to play with
these guys and win. They seem like they are pretty unselfish.
(25:24):
Yokich is someone who talks about his teammates a lot.
There there's no as great as he is. There's no Hey,
you know, there's only one basketball like there isn't a
lot of places.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
Now.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
The Nuggets are almost kind of like a new version
of the Warriors, where hey, I can go play with Steph.
Steph's a guy that will step aside him and make
way for another talented player. Give credit where credits due.
If you think this is a one and done for
the nuggets. Ah ah man, the nugget. They are here
to stay. This is all five years they're they're here there,
They're gonna be a title contender, a big time title
(25:54):
contender for.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
At least than ex to take this because you've come
around from the thinking that you had a few weeks
ago that if they didn't do it this year, they
never would.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
So now they talk.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
If you if you don't do it this year with
here that But that's what winning an NBA championship does, right,
I mean.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
I just like it.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
They never win this stuff. They're set up to win forever.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Well, this, well that's win one. You know what it takes.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Your star players know what it takes, and you're able
to get back there and understand this is how we
have to navigate the season and the playoffs, and you
get more players who want to come play with them
and not just have to.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Make it work.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Who would want to go play with Yokichen Murray if
they blew it this year? Nobody all of these things
that's notable.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
I think.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
I think Jokic is a guy that the reputation is
go play with him, right, You see how glowingly and
and they gush talking about this guy and how unselfish
he is, and and what a team kind of guy
he is just wanting to work. Hell, we played his
his post game of just saying, Hey, the work's done,
I'm going home. I mean, that's about as simple as
it gets.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
Yeah, we're party calling out hand beat. How do you
like this?
Speaker 5 (27:02):
Look? I got this MVP. But you've got your core
signed for a minimum of two years. You got Jamal
Murray for two more years before you start looking at
options and restricted tags. Jokich has four plus, You've got
Gordon with two plus. Porter Junior has what three more
(27:22):
years before you start getting into any of that. So
you've got a nucleus ready to go, and if you
can get guys like KCP and and KG veterans that
fill it out, you're ready to roll.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Get ready. The era of the Nuggets is here.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Nuggets and the Knicks, the next five years of the
NBA thing coming up. Next, we get into the NBA
Finals and break down the fateful final minute.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Fox
