games right down the street, right, yeah, battles there.

Yeah, and both those high school teams could kick UCLA's ass.

They're all getting ready to take the field. New Mexico's
only going to play the rest of the first quarter, right,
that's it. But I'm sorry a second quarter New Mexico
leads is shutting out Ucla fourteen nothing. Ucla is driving
because their beneficiaryas of a of a quarterback rush Yamalayava,
is hitting the helmet and they get a first down,
so they're driving. But this is a UCLA team that

is zero to two and already is down fourteen to
nothing to New Mexico in the first half of this game.
It is really sad to see what's happened to us
Lay football in the.

Deshaun Foster era.

Like, you know, they had settled into being a nice
eight win team, right, Clearly going to the Big ten
is going to be difficult. And this is more about
a football thing and a money thing, because you know,
the Pac twelve was already difficult enough for UCLA. But hey,
you know, seven eight win team here they are. They'll
win a couple of big games here and there. That's
kind of where they are, not quite the heydays of
the nineties who are going to the rose balls.

But look, it's not like that every year.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
But now you head to the Big ten and this
is just the first couple of seasons they're getting a
shot at this. And this is even a Big ten game,
you know, five and seven last year, zero and two
this year trailing New Mexico. Now they just get a touchdown,
so it's fourteen to seven. But New Mexico has played
really well offensively. And really it is stunning to see
what UCLA football turned into the last two years.

Really, I mean you look at just the way the
program has operated, not even on the field, just in
terms of media accessibility, media availability. Deshaun Foster, every time
he gets in front of a microphone, it's a disaster.
Iml Malaiava comes in, right, he's the big bonus baby
nil and the era of good feelings. To steal a

turn of phrase that you like to use, and it's
been as I think of him, seventy three points the
first two weeks. There's no hard nosed football being played
here's and the style points are out the window because
you're getting bludgeoned left and right. So yeah, fight back

see if they gather any type of defensive structure. But
I mean, they're so grossly irrelevant it's not even funny.
I mean, the road the coattails of USC into the
Big ten as the Pac twelve sinking ship was in
its last bubbling up, and now we're just watching them
get throttled from pillar to post. Recruiting's a bit of

a disaster because you have no vote of confidence in
the way this is being run.

Yeah, I mean, really it is. It's difficult to watch, man.

I mean, when you you have a rose ball with
which is the greatest, the greatest football stadium in the country,
and it's you know, and it's it's friends and family,

at least the field looks really good.

Dude. I'm literally watching the game and there's no in

They settled into being a nice seven eight win team
after a really bad few years in the in the
mid teens. But I mean this is just wow, Like
you feel like all the excitement they had with they
Amalayava coming in and everything that went along with it,
now it's just it's just been utter disastrous.

They almost suck as much as the Mets.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Oh I don't know, man, I think.

Well, I said as much almost.

Yeah, well, I mean they've given up seventy three points
before this week Mets.

I mean, what was it a six run first? The
Mets would hit I said almost.

Yeah, the Mets would hit Ucla pretty well, but you
still they would always would also score in the Mets pitching,
so it would be it would be a dogfight. It'd
be a lot of runs, be a lot of runs
going on. That's would be big, high scoring, high scoring game.
So we'll keep you update and everything going on in
college football again fourteen seven. In that one, Colorado and Houston,

the Cougar is putting the finishing touches on a thirty
six to twenty lead right now over Colorado with about
three minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Johnson is done being told that, dude, you blew it,

Not chrispy to be fair, Just say I blew it.

a little chess. Yeah, I like the fire in his belly.

I don't know, man, you know what I mean.

Saint Brown said he's gonna kick your ass now he's
on offense, So I don't know what that means.

But this is how chesty Ben Johnson is getting here.
He is from the I mean, maybe wanted to pull
the old guarantee out there. But again, maybe this shows you,
Ben Johnson. We talked about sometimes some people being a
head coach is too much of them. Here's Ben Johnson
talking about what the result is gonna be this weekend
against the Lions.

because there's cell phones and everything. But back in high school,
you know, and I would you know, one hundred and
fifty years ago, like in the eighties and the nineties,
when there was a party going and you know a
lot of people would have party. Hey my parents are
out of town. I'm gonna have a party. Back when
you thought you could have a party and your parents
would never find out, Like they wouldn't just come back
and just say to the neighbors, Hey, how were things.

Oh there were four hundred kids at your house on Friday?

Oh he was a huge party. Okay, great, but back
when you thought you could do that. But like it was,
but there's I can't tell you how many times about
a party or some kind of gathering whatever it is,
and the and the landline would ring because you know,
nobody had cell phones, and it was everybody quite quite
quite quiet, my parents, my parents, and there it is quiet,
and then then they answered the phone and then it's
like a five minute cor Yeah, no, just watching TV,

hanging out. I don't know, Okay, all right, great and
you hang up. Every goes Yeah. They turned the music
back up. Yeah, that's what's going on in the studio
right now. It's gonna be hey, hey, hey, guys, Jason's
asker and something. We gotta play this out, all right, right,
turn the music down, Turn the music down.

You really think we can hear you?

Well, I had to yell.

We had had to get really close to the microphone
and tell Tyshirt he was still listening a little bit.

Well, the thing is, I mean ty Shirt's girlfriend may
be texting him or any moment, or there could be
someone that wants to sell him some Pokemon cards. He's
got to check his phone. You've got to be close,
so we probably just you know, hey checking. Oh heard
me say that because he was making sure and then yeah,
I was all that.

Is way more important than a stupid highlight that you're
tossing to.

Come on, man, it's Ben Johnson guaranteeing will eat Sunday man.

on Sunday, which, okay, that's great, right, I mean, I
think it's awesome that he says that that he obviously
still has confidence. But you know what I said about
him last week kind of goes and that's I don't
know if he's up for being a head coach. The

really bad decision on the on sidekick bad all of
a sudden, getting so defensive.

We're gonna win on Sunday. We're gonna win to Sunday.

Dude, you don't go in and guarante you're guaranteeing a
win when you're going on the road to play the Lions,
a team that is hungry for a win. That's not
the time you go and do that. And I get
that you're upset, and I get that you've been taking
it in the teeth the last week, but you know
you screwed up right again. I wonder if being a
head coach is too much for Ben Johnson. And I
got news for you. Things are gonna get worse before

they get better. Right to Sunday's game. Be a little
bit closer than you think, because Caleb Williams was able
to move the football week one.

They should have won that game.

They stopped playing when they were up seventeen to six,
and you saw how it went for the Vikings rest
of the way. But Williams moved the football. But Detroit
is gonna go run heavy. They know we need to

Packers defense, Hey, Jared Goff wasn't really up to it.
They are going to pound the football. It's gonna be

Jamier Gibbs and David Montgomery. It's it's sonic and knuckles
back and forth. And this is how they're gonna win
this game. It'll be closer than you think, but it'll
be the Lions with a win and the Bears go
to zero to two. And I'll give you this bonus,

in this game. It's gonna be a heavy Gibbs Montgomery
game when the Lions find their identity and it starts

I would have thought would have been hit on far
more frequently as they were down two starters. I think
you have some success in the short passing game, but
it is the run game that owns it.

quarterbacks already and given them all chances to win the
job because you're impatient, because you know you're not. You
didn't get Shador Part two when Caden Salter started Week one,
the mistakes at the end of the game and the

I feel like the beginning of this offensively is on
Dion because you're not playing three quarterbacks because of injury.
You're playing three guys because you're just impatient, you're trying.
I mean, how do you build a winning pro how
do you build any sort of consistency when you played
three guys what he has.

So far this year? And I said this.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
I have a die hard beyond fan. You can't. It's
all frosting, no cake team. It just look you, Colorado
is nothing. I mean, this is a horrible, horrible program.
Was arguably the you know, the worst of the power
programs going. And so what do he do? He took
it from zero to sixty instantly and so as good

as it, you know, that was okay, Well can they
sustain it? Well, it is still a program that's you know,
it didn't win a whole lot and they had a
good little run late last year, but you still got
to build. You still need recruiting classes where you build
the offensive lineman. And there's something we said for you know,
fan basees want the instant fix, and that's fine, but
it's just not going to work like that. Especially you

did get a guy in Caden Salter who was good
at Liberty and did play in a big bowl game
and had a undefeated regular season a couple of years ago.
Uh so, either you got to kind of live through
that and figure it out around him. But that's why
these guys get paid millions and millions and millions of
dollars is to figure out, yes, that's my quarterback and
then you build around him, not just try to say, hey,

let's let's see who's got it tonight, Pete.

We got a lot of walkover games.

As much as I want to celebrate the celebrating stuff
out there in Evanston, I mean, you know, big Newton
kickoff will look great, but once that game starts, I'm
not overly optimistic. So let's go to Georgia and Tennessee,

One of the great names of the game, Gunner Stockton

You know, he's not as talent as Carson backed as
this step down in terms of talented quarterback but he
might just be one of those guys that just sort
of turns into a very good college quarterback and works
well with the team around him.

He and look he runs.

And so the thing about Stetson Bennett, you know, he
was never going to be anything special, but he was
a runner. He's kind of a baller of a player
and got it a little more to the position. And
that might just be what Stucked and brings to this offense.
And we'll find out. I think this is gonna be
a defensive battle. I don't see a whole ton of
points in this. But all right, Georgia, you need to

find some off and explosion to your passing game after
last year. Let's see if you got it.

I mean, the biggest day probably in CW sports history.
They have South Florida and Miami. I mean, it doesn't
get any bigger for the CW than said everybody's favorite
team that is disrespected yet nobody knows who the hell
they are and Miami. Does South Florida have a chance
to win their third big game in a row?

Or is it Miami getting the W? Is it Michigan?

Dave frog on the sideline is that. Yeah, look, we've
all been there, we've all worked without media outlets. That's
just a rough watch. It just it's it's a rough broadcast.
It's a rich but okay, let's let's it's on TV.

think you know, you see you that's suff I'm sorry,
it's already done its job. I mean Boise State, remember
they have not beaten a Power conference team in like
ten years, you know, but last year there came close
against Oregon and beat everyone else, got to the College
Football playoffs beating Florida. This is gravy time. Whatever happens
against Miami, if they run the table from here, they've

got their Power Conference win on the road. They destroyed
Boise State good enough. Now just beating Memphis on the road.
Win the American Conference championship, and you're in the College
Football Playoff as that twelve seed. So if they now,
if they beat Miami all of a sudden, the overreaction
is going to be, you know, out, it's tough. That sharts,

and they're gonna be ranked number six next week in
all the polls. It's not better, but it's a good program.
This is a program should be in the Big twelve,
massive alumni based, massive student body at Tampa. They have
this natural rivalry with UCF. Everything it has to do
with you know, you want in a program to expand
with the Big twelve. Should have gotten a while ago.

and how about this. I think in both polls, Mississippi State,
I believe was ranked behind Arizona State in both poles,

beat Arizona State. You know, it's not a whole bunch

of critical thinking, and it's it's the inherent problem with
both poles, and it's a good thing why they actually
don't matter anymore, because think about it. If you're an
AP voter, you're covering you're probably covering a team. And
let's say you are covering the University of Colorado or
name actually bad example. Let's say you're covering Tennessee tomorrow.
You're not watching all those other games. You're covering Tennessee.

You're filing your stories, you're working on Tennessee, and then
you're doing whatever else you're going to do the rest
of the night. You're not sitting up watching you know,
all the late night games and getting the ins and
out of every team. That's kind of the point to
the ap pole is to reach all across the country
and get every all these different various opinions and it
all kind of comes together and hopefully it does work out.

could be a Sam Laporta type rookie year for him.
The good times roll on, especially at home. He has

another big week and now Daniel Jones will be taken
for real. I told you in the beginning of it,
and going into the season, Daniel Jones takes over, things
are gonna be much better than you think it is
because he just has to run the offense and move
the team may play with his legs once in a while.
