Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Hello, welcome inside our two, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, baby, live from the
tirerac dot Com studios. That sounds like a man who
has the over in the North Dakota Statelado gate.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Right, Ay, just like action. Let's see action, Let's see people.
But I like action when it goes over a certain
number of points. Well sometimes sure, h two.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Minutes a little over two minutes to go in the
fourth quarter, North Dakota State is in the end zone.
They go for two and don't get it. It is
a thirty one to twenty six lead for Colorado over
North Dakota State. North Dakota State does have two timeouts left,
but certainly a big miss right there on the two
point convergence. Now it's gonna have to get the ball
(01:13):
back end, get in the end zone for North Dakota State.
But before we move on.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, look, yeah, the over was fifty five. By the way,
there's up cheap, like I didn't like.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
After your reaction, Hey, look at that. Let's give it
its specificity. Ten and a half was the spread and
fifty five was the total.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Hey, kids, we're going out. Get we're eating good tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Wow, get the extra scoop of ice cream?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Are we going to sizzlerk Are we going to sit?
We're going Sisler. We're going SiZ Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
We got Kadeem Hardison into the show.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
But sometimes I see certain plays that players make and
I say, I don't care that it's game one, don't
play anymore because you're going number one overall in the draft. Right.
Todd Gurley had that debut his last year with Georgia.
It was, you know what, don't play anymore. Don't play.
There's nothing that could do but get you here. You
know what.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
We have actually aspoused that theory quite often on this show.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Don't play anymore. You don't need to seen enough. After
Travis Hunter's last touchdown, dude, don't play anymore. You're the
number one. I get you how great Shador Sanders is,
and I under say Carson Beck is really good quarterbacks
to go that high. But dude, Travis Hunner, Dude, I
don't know what to say. Listen to the touchdown pass
that just gave Colorado the eleven point lead, now that
(02:35):
North Dakota State has cut into but this is a touchdown,
and it's as good a play as you're gonna see
in college football.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Shot gun stamp taken by shot.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
He throws at white signed, Travis Hunter.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Reaches up, makes a spectacular crab touchdown, touchdown Colorado.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
He's an alien, he's a freak, he's a mute eat.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
He's the best player in college football, and the Buffaloes
take a ten point.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I think he stole from the Biff song there. What's
Michael J. Fowx like he's an alien?
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
That question?
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Uh? The catch that Travis Hunter just made, it's a
it's a quick out pattern to the corner of the
end zone and he single covered, which again, you know
jobs I can do better with with no experience. Hey,
North Dakota State defensive coordinator, Hey, we're gonna double Travis Hunter. Okay,
we're gonna double a guy that's that that's closing on
two hundred yards on us today. But he makes a
(03:30):
play and it's not even a push off, which has
been his big move tonight.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Well, he got chucked pretty good, right, It was in
the five yards, so we actually recovered pretty well from
uh and then some it is from from a pretty
good push.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
It is the pylon. It is right at the pylon.
And this is about concentration and body control and talent.
And he's falling down out of bounds but reaches back
with both hands to grab it when the defense's arm
is kind of in the way, Like listen, the defender
is going to make the play by by deflecting the
(04:05):
football physically.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
You can have argued that the flag should have been thrown, right,
I mean he's into his body before the ball gets there.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Oh yeah yeah, but reaching back and but scouts don't care. Hey,
I don't give a crap about that fight through reaching
back and making that catch with both hands, staying in
bounds and falling out of bounds. Dude, don't play anymore.
You do not need to play. You are the number
one pick in the draft. I do not need to
see anything else after Travis Hunter, after this game punctuated
(04:35):
by that touchdown, I need to see nothing. Whatever else
you got, man, all you can do is get hurt
or something else happens, and looking Colorado could go four
and eight. Don't need any more, dude, you are the
number one pick.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yeah, that was absolutely absurd. He catches a swing pass
and then there's four people waiting for him here as
it ticks down towards two minutes, you're like, get down.
I could hear it in your brain and you might
have done it in the Venom Jerry Jones voice, get out.
But it's watching his body control and how he fights
through And we talked about it before creating space, finding space.
(05:08):
In this particular case for the touchdown, Sanders throw wasn't
great right kind of behind the defender and he's got
to reach back through him. But I mean strong hands,
good body control all the way through to control it
through to the ground and gets the touchdowns. So about
everything you need. There's a full highlight package for well
(05:31):
tonight and early Sunday morning just for Travis Hunter alone.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
It's it's an insane night that he is having so far.
For Colorado there's a time out on the field right now.
Potentially we could see North Dakota State getting the ball back.
As that you said that swing pass to Travis Hunder
there were like seven guys waiting.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Okay, we know where you're going with the ball. We
know was there wasn't a blocker out there. There was nothing.
It's like, all right, we swing it to him. It's like, now,
what where's my screen? Is it there supposed to be
a guy out here to be a lead blocker?
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Hey, hey, hey, do you think they know we're gonna
throw it to Travis Hunter. Maybe we'll just get one
on one coverage and it'll be in space. Oh no,
that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Well, because you have another guy transferring who had one
hundred and eight catches at his old school last year.
He's got to be single covered somewhere either way. Man,
just watching it, it's fun to have college football back.
Obviously we enjoyed the chaos of Week zero and all
those upsets and everything. But this week we've got the
momentum flowing through. Right you're seeing more of the highlight
(06:35):
packages and previews of hey this is in the early window. Hey,
this is gonna be late. Here's all the national coverage
and then whatever conference you follow. Certainly your inboxes have
been inundated with press releases and little sizzle reels. So yeah,
it's the anticipation to a next level. It's almost decoy,
(06:55):
a bobblehead, like the level of excitement and anticipation across
this great land.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
I believe he has played every snap tonight on offense
and defense. I don't know that he's miss I know
he's played every snap up until like maybe twenty minutes ago.
I can't see him taking him out of the game,
but he has played. Think about this, because this is
the other part of Travis Hunter, is to play at
this high level and play every snap on offensive defense,
(07:21):
end still be this fresh and this good at the
end of a game, to come up with that kind
of catch for your third touchdown of the night. Seven
catches for one hundred and thirty two yards, three touchdowns
every snap. Like, I don't know what to say about him.
I mean, he keeps saying I'm built for it. I'm
built for it. I remember in high school guys would
go both ways and after like middle of second quarter,
(07:42):
I'm like, hey, coach, put me in, man, I could
go play a little bit. Look at this guy's dragging.
I'll go play. No, no, no, I want all my
good guys playing both ways. And they're like sucking wind
by the time you get to the second quarter, and
here's Travis Hunter, like, yeah, feeling good, man, feeling good.
He doesn't look like he's missing anything. He's not limping,
he's not cramping. He looks like he's he just started
the game. This is a special dude. Man, this is
(08:05):
such a special dude.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Yeah, it's pretty incredible to watch it. But you know,
the playing iron man football fear that as you start
getting towards conference play, I think you need to be
maybe a little more judicious about that. But hey, if
it ain't broke, don't fix it. And you need to
win this game so he ain't.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Now yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. It's always wait
when you have an idea of okay, I'm gonna get
some players around, Like I would always think that coaching
soccer softball, I would go into this game going, okay,
you know, hey, we should win this game. And my
plan is, okay, I can get such a player in
to pitch a couple of innings where I can get
a you know, a couple players into play midfield here
for for about a quarter or so, and then the
(08:46):
game goes and it's much tighter, and I go, well,
that's out the window.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Now you're same line up, same you've man it substitution.
Did you're recognizing Waite? It's not that tournament. I can't
bring them back. Yeah, no, no, no, I know.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
I Hey, listen, hey, I know I said you were
gonna play mid I know I said it was gonna
get you maybe pitching tonight. But I'll get you in
another game, I promise. But this game is five to
four here in the in the in the fifth inning
or something like that, and I'm sorry, the game is
one one. The soccer's won. I can't do it. I'm sorry.
I had a great plan, but that's that's the same
thing with Travis Hunter. Yeah, we'll get him some time,
get him some time off. He'll get a blow. He'll
(09:19):
miss a defensive series here and there, maybe one offensive
series when we're gonna run the football. Cut nope, nope, play.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
In every step everything you got right all the way
both ready for a little bit of fun. Because we
did the same thing in the memorabilia world with the
decoy and show Heyo Todi Bobblehead A night ago, twenty
twenty three, first Bowman, U Sapphire, Travis Hunter orange refractor
autograph number out of twenty five PSA ten seven hundred
(09:46):
dollars get in. Uh, it's the market is exploding as
we speak. It's like watching a stock market. I feel
like Jim Kramer, let's go.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Bye bye bye. Sure, but I mean that's how much fun. Look,
whatever Colorado does this year and their success is going
to be who knows, Right, you're in a you're in
a dog fight with North Dakota State, an FCS team,
in the first game of the year. Right, You're at home?
So who is the season really gonna be a great
one for Colorado? Doesn't matter because you have Shador Sanders
(10:18):
and Travis Hunter, who are probably and I don't even
think this is a big deal at this point. These
are two guys who are gonna go on the top
three of the draft. Like maybe a Carson Beck is
gonna is gonna get up there. Maybe somebody else flies in,
but these are two guys that are gonna go one
two or one three or some kind of order like
that and and that's insane when you think about that
(10:39):
top level of talent on one team in college football.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
And then we got to see, as we're talking the
bailout scramble, scramble scramble, just throw it up and hope
for pass interference and tada, there you have it downfield
to extend a drive on a third night, play runs
through the receiver, h doesn't look back for the ball,
first down, minute forty one remaining.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Yeah, Colorado was gonna wind up given the ball back
to North Dakota State because shadro Sanders had one of
those Russell Wilson drop backs where he dropped back five
seven yards, Nope, nothing there, turned one way, nope, nothing there,
turned back the other way, then turn all the back.
He was about twenty five yards behind the line of
scrimmage and he just threw it up to a receiver
who had broken open all the way downfield. And this
(11:23):
shows you the arm strength that he had because he
got crushed after this. There's no way you can put
your entire body into it. There's no way you can
put Hey, I'll get a big strong throw downfield for
sixty seventy yards. This is where I'm running back. I'm
going backwards and suddenly here's a throw and and I'm
just gonna put everything I have on it. And he
gets it all the way out there, and because the
(11:44):
dB doesn't turn around, it's a pretty easy interference call.
He runs it doesn't turn around for the ball. I
know it's a cause.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
If he turns around at all, you might have been
able to pick that off because it was overthrown.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, it was, it was. It was. It wasn't a
great you know. I mean, look, he threw it as
far as he could, yep, But just getting it out
there that far was able to draw the penalty. And
if he turns around, he gets it, but he doesn't.
Pretty easy interference call. And so now you have Colorado
potentially being ready to close the game by kneeling on
the football. However, this is Deon Sanders at work. They
(12:17):
have the ball, first down and ten with a minute
thirty left to go. North Dakota State has one time
out left and chadur Sanders throws a bomb downfield for
an incomplete pass. Yeah, like, like what the all these
great I don't understand it is like we got we go,
Let's get all these great things are saying about Hunter
(12:37):
and chadur Sanders, and then it's what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Hey, what are you doing throwing?
Speaker 1 (12:45):
What are you doing throwing the football?
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Just remember the one rule I will always love about
college football. It's just a fifteen yard penalty as opposed
to the spotfalls that we see, uh starting next Thursday.
But yeah, they did run the ball on second down,
so you got that for Yeah, they got enough matter.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
But it doesn't matter. I mean you could have all
you're doing. You're kneeling on the ball, it's done now.
Instead of that, it's third and ten and there's a
minute twenty eight left to go. So now you have
a chance where potentially you're giving them the ball back
because you decided to throw the football. That I don't understand.
I don't I don't get that.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
You can't ask that question afterwards?
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Oh no, way, are you there?
Speaker 4 (13:23):
You go?
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Here's the graphic. Let's talk about the social media following. Yeah,
let's do this in the final minute of a game.
What are we doing?
Speaker 1 (13:31):
I mean that that what's in the truck? What are
you doing? I'm I don't know, I don't know. Oh,
game long.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Here's a big third and ten with a minute twenty five.
Let's now go into the Dion Sanders effect on recruiting
and social media impact.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
What the hell are we doing now? I really I
don't get it.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
That's the question you ask Dion afterwards.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
And they decide to throw the football on third down,
and they complete it, but not for a first down.
So it looks like North Dakota State that it's gonna
be fourth and about five. North Dakota State's gonna get
the ball back with about thirty seconds left in the game,
So we have thirty seconds to try to go downfield,
where instead Colorado could have just kneeled on the football
(14:20):
in the game would have been over. Yeah, I had said, no, no, no,
we're doing that.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Hey, we're gonna try to get Breonna to dial up
so we can dial into the press conference and we
can ask that of coach Prime because you have to
address him as coach Prime too.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Can we can we try to patch in definitely, especially
if it goes awry here. Of course, I'm actually texting
the PR person right now.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
My guys want to know why he threw the ball
on first ria. Listen, listen, I'll tell you that. Don't
even send your text because it's it's gonna be a
text that's critical of Deon Sanders. Not only are they
not gonna answer the question, they're gonna get upset and
they're gonna make it seem like we're bad for you
might get blocked.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
But what if I get nicely though? I would like
to see that. But are they just me or all, well,
you're the one sending me. And then if Fox well,
I can't block Fox Sports because Fox Sports helped propel
things last year.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Sure there we go. Yeah, but no, Brian will have
to throw you under the bus on this. You have
to take all it was all ideas I would. I
would say, hey, listen, I'm big enough. You know, I'm
I'm I kind of feel like I'm your older brother
and I feel like I look out for you. But
I will completely blame you for this.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
I'll send you flowers because it'll be great.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Now without a doubt, without a doubt, I mean not now.
I I couldn't wait for the postgame press conference before
all night. Now I really can't wait. No, I really
can't wait to see what happens. And I really and
now I'm like, okay, how much do I want.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
North to see do you do you remember the dear
Antler spray thing during Super Bowl week for ray Lewis.
Remember that I was all ready to ask it, right
vic the brick are from a five seventy. He goes
up and he does plays a little grab ass hair,
put on my fur hat and all that stuff that
he has. Here's the walking stick I have and ray
Lewis plays a long for a minute, but everybody knows
(16:12):
the dear Antler spray question has to come. Guy next
to me sees, I'm gonna raise my hand to do it,
and he goes, dude, he already hates me. Let me
just do it, and so he asks him and then
ray I kid you not. If you go back in
the audio. I think it's an eight minute response talking
about he goes biblical like immediately, and I'm like, all right,
(16:35):
that's where this is now headed for the rest of it.
Good job, And I patted the guy on the shoulder
and I went and did one on ones with everybody
else because everybody was at ray Lewis waiting for him
to evangelize. So I went player a player. I was like, hey, coach,
how you doing.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Same thing?
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Coming up here?
Speaker 1 (16:55):
I want to see that unfold, like I want to
see the Mets in the playoffs. Like that's how bad
I want to see it now, unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Ninety eight yards here.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
So it is a first down. They do get out
to about the thirty yard line with twenty five seconds left.
North Dakota State spikes the football, so they do have
it out. Uh. They did fair catch the ball at
their own ten yard line, which you kind of had
to because the ball bounces, you don't know times ticks off,
so they fair catch it at the ten. But now
they're out at the thirty twenty three seconds left, clock
(17:27):
stopping a couple of times. I gotta think North Dakota
State's gonna have a chance for a hail mary.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Let's go Alcoa presents the fantastic finishes.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Uh so again twenty two seconds left. North Dakota State
looking for somewhat of a miracle. Uh they get another
first down, clock stopped with fifteen seconds left to go.
Looks like they're gonna spike it again. They are up
at midfield, so potentially you're gonna get at least a
hail mary play. They do spike it now with nine
seconds left. Boy, little bit of favorable clock.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
There, for Colorado took the officials an extra second or
so to spot the ball. They made North Dakota States
offensive line move back.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Yeah, there's no reason that six seconds come off a
clock for a clocking play.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
That's absurd. Yeah, and you also needed a fifteen yard
penalty on a helmet to helmet hit on the catch
because that was a I mean, I don't know how
you miss that. I do not know how you missed.
And the receiver got up saying, hey, I just got drilled.
That should have been another fifteen yards because that was
leading with the helmet. That's the textbook of helmet to
(18:39):
helmet hits, how they call it in the NFL. I
mean it's I mean, I really I don't understand. I mean,
the officials this last few seconds here really helping them
out because it should be there should be a few
more seconds left on the clock and they should be
fifteen yards closer. I mean, that's unforgivable to miss that.
I know the game is going fast, I know we're
near the end, but penalties like I don't know how
(19:00):
you missed that, that's.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Absurd, Like in fact that we don't have any kind
of communication devices to say, hey, you know what you
missed one.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
I mean that you're looking everybody's looking at the play.
You know you're you're looking right at the play. Oh boy.
Uh so again, here we are, final play of the
game coming up for North Dakota State. It's gonna have
to be a hail mary. And I wonder if Travis
Hunter's gonna pick this off. Be the wait for the
game to end him to pick it off? What seems right,
we'll see.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
North Dakota State catches the hail mary and is tackled
at the five yard line. Oh my goodness. North Dakota
State got the hail mary at the five. However, the
receiver jumping up for it fell down tackled well short
of the goal line. Colorado holts on to win thirty
(19:52):
one to.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Twenty, succeed and proceed. We had a lot of missed
calls over the course of the game, but that one's
gonna stand out for sure.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
Wow. I mean watching this again, you know they send
the trips down the field and clearly had enough time
and this is just I'm out jumping you for the
ball and uh, but just the way it shook out,
it was in a crowd of people.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
You know, if you're fifteen yards closer.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Oh man, Yeah, that would a help, wouldn't it. Now
let's just go a little bit. Wow. More reaction to
this incredible ending of a game. Colorado wins their opener
thirty one twenty six. We got that and more coming
up next right here, Big stuff out of the NFL.

Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Ayson Smith Show with Mike Carmon Livethetirec dot Com Studios
and Insane Ending. Colorado holds on to beat North Dakota
State thirty one twenty six. Travis Hunter. I've seen his
heismanods go from fifty to one to twenty five to one. Man,
just in the last few minutes. I believe he played
(21:46):
every snap tonight, three touchdowns, one hundred and thirty yards receiving,
and clearly the best player on the field. I'm telling you, man,
I don't need to see anything else from him. I'm
taking him number one overall. I've got Yeah you do
or say terrific Carson Carson Beck is terrific. I don't
need to see anybody else Travis Hunt. It's like I'm like,
I'm getting Rod Woodson, you know, I mean, I'm getting
(22:08):
Rod Woodson.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
But in theory, the Patriots already drafted their quarterback this year,
so you can go draft Travis hunty boom.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Look what we did there, oh Ver, See what you did?
We just moved and advanced the calendar.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
We went into our little MCU sped ahead, created that
scenario and here we are now.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
I want to throw something out there because they're gonna
wait to hear from Dion Sanders after the game and
the biggest questions going to be when all they needed
to do was kneel on the football in the final
minute of the game, they decided to throw a pass.
All right, now, it was third and ten deep in
their own territory. Chadora Sanders drops back a Russell Wilson
(22:47):
drop back and he chucks it all the way downfield
looking for a pass interference call, and they get one
because it was pass interference. Sounds a minute twenty six
left in the game and North Dakota State has one
time out left. Okay, the game's over. You're kneeling on
the football, right, you're doing it, or if you're really
worried about clock, manager, whatever, you can run the football whatever,
whatever you want to do. That's fine. But instead, on
(23:10):
the first down play, Shadur Sanders tries to throw a
bomb for a touchdown. It falls incomplete. As a result,
North Dakota State gets the ball back with about thirty
seconds left to go, and the game ends on the
final play with a hail Mary that is caught at
the five yard line. That's how close North Dakota State
came to winning this game. And I know I can't
(23:34):
wait to hear what Deion Sanders answer is going to be,
because I'm gonna throw this out there, and really, I
really wonder how much this plays into it, right, because
it is Dion, it is his kid, it is you know,
Shador Sanders. I love Travis Hunter is like he's my
other son. But boy, Heisman Trophy Shador Sanders. Was he
(23:55):
trying to get him another touchdown just to make his
numbers look even better? Like that would not I mean
that if you heard that was the answer with that
not surprised, of course it wouldn't. Oh yeah, Dan's gonna
try to get Shador Sanders another touchdown because that would
have put him over five hundred yards passing with five touchdowns.
As it is, he had an incredible night, right, four
(24:15):
forty five and four touchdowns. Shaduf Sanders was fantastic tonight.
But you know, there's only one reason why you make
that play call, because that gets from that gets from
from everybody through whoever who decides on that that gets
all the way to the game. I didn't see anybody
really mad. I didn't see Dion yelling saying hey, shaudor
take a knee, what are you doing? Or Shoudur looking
(24:35):
to stat pad because he got hit really hard in
the final play they'll play before when he got through
that ball downfield for the past interference. But man, it
would not surprise me if that's what it was. Hey,
we thought we pretty much thought we had the game
went anyway. Tried to get you door another touchdown, which
which is baffling. It's a baffling strategy that he's a
head coach in the NFL and that could be something
(24:56):
they do. But I'm telling you, man, I would not
doubt it because I don't know how how that play
call gets all the way there unless the kids change
it in the huddle because they're mad about something and
emotions getting getting to them. And I don't care, Man,
I want to throw another touchdown. Let's run this play.
That's the only way that happens. Where I say, okay,
I can understand that, but it didn't seem like. It
didn't seem like that.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
I thought he could get a big play to Wester
five for fifty eight. The transfer came in after a
huge year last year, and try thought, maybe you can
just get go right back to the well right that
that guy's gonna have to run again. Maybe he's a
little bit lost in coverage and you get him turned around.
Either you get another pass interference or you hit the
big play and put the punctuation mark on this game. Instead,
(25:41):
you left things up for doubt and chaos. You only
had one more time out for North Dakota State, so
that factors in slightly. But look, need nothing to chance, right,
you got to play it through the zeros, especially with
the big play capability that we saw from North Dakota
State on the other side, I mean yards galore on
both sides. Uh, and really had to hold your breath.
(26:06):
And if they actually called that helmet to helmet down
the stretch, Uh, that hail Mary goes into the end zone,
go figure.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
I mean, look, look, the officiating is a different thing,
and yeah, there there is such a thing as Hey,
maybe officials are in a little bit of a first
game of the season mode here, they're getting used to things. Uh,
but that you know that, Look, that's the other play
on the same drive, right if if I'm really I mean,
I don't know what to say. If Dion says, hey,
we had a we had a play, thought we were
gonna get a touchdown, Like, what what are you gonna say?
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Oh my god, Seriously, if that's gonna be his defense,
anytime they make a mistake offensively, you're gonna put the play.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
You're gonna put the game at risk for a play
that's unnecessary, which, again, jobs I can do better than
other people with no experience. Head coach Colorado Buffalo's because
I would aneal on the football. Hey, victory formation, go ahead,
go get it. I'm ready.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
I tell you, well, you know you need is pretty
good because you kneeled.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
On the ball, and you nelt on the ball, you
you kneeled on the book.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
I would say nelt is more, you know, more grammatically correct,
but neeled is one of those things you're like, it's
become acceptable, let it go.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Nelt makes me When you say nelt I think of
like knights with a sword standing in front of the
king and they're kneeling down, you know, getting that like that.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
When I hear me guys, I think of like guys
are gonna have to do to get a question in
on Dion here. Yes, yeah, I mean that's the thing though,
are you surveying the room? I want the point of
you cam from Dion as he's scanning, trying to figure
out which guy's gonna ask him about not running the
ball or kneeling down on first down like he's the
he's the terminator. Yeah right, it's all the calculations a
(27:45):
computer and he's trying to figure out which guy's got
the little extra thermal on him. Maybe maybe part predator too,
where you know, realizing maybe maybe they're a little bit nervous,
maybe the accelerated heart rate because they know they have
to ask the difficult question and potentially risk being banned.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
You know, I really, I I that has to be
the first question. I assume that I assume that it's
gonna you know, you.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Know, boy, you never know, Travis is something special.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
You never know. You never know, teeler off the top rope,
or he just pretends to play it didn't happen. What
are you talking about? That play you through? I know
you're talking about next question. Wait no, but you could
have kneeled on the football or Nelton you coulda you
gonna No, I know you're talking about next question. Next question, Boy,
did you see what Travis did tonight? How good was he?
(28:34):
That was outstanding? That was so much fun? Next question,
next question. I I don't. I don't get it. I don't.
I don't understand how you make that. You're a Division
one college football coach and you make that call. And
I'm sorry, I can't jump to any other conclusion other
than I wanted to get I wanted to get him
another touchdown. I wanted to give another touchdown or get
(28:55):
you know, with were throwing a horn, you get him
over two hundred yards. Wasn't even throwing to him, Like,
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Well you could have gotten Western because if he completes
that pass, whether it goes to the end zone or not,
you're looking at another receiver with one hundred yard day.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
I mean, I don't get what you're trying to do there.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
I'm I would have taken Shadur towards five hundred.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
That is absolutely unforgivable. I don't wow, man, I can't
wait for d und I can't wait for him to
hit the pipe. Bet, I may want this now more
than just the Mets in the play I may want
to see this more than I want to see the
Mets and the Jets in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Yeah, I just like chaos in between the lines. I mean,
anybody that's in for the first time. It's not about
any individual player, coach or team. When it comes down
to the final minutes. If we've got a game, I
want to see some chaos, and this is what we
got tonight.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Well, the guy who's gonna tell us about the chaos
right now is Special Delivery Steve to Seger. He's got
what's trending in the wide world of sports SD.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
It's after eleven thirty pm in New York, and believe
it or not, Carlos Alcarez, number three seed at the
US Open, is about to get swept out of the
second round against player we've never heard of. I'll just
say that much. From the Netherlands Bittoc van dea Zanschalp. Yes,
of course he's up six, one, seven, five and five four,
two points away from a sweep. The forty nine ers
(30:12):
and wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Boots so Van Sanchal proving you can escape from Alcarez
and win.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
A match and escape from New York of course, the.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Pliskin the President's missing President of what Don't Mess with Me?
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Plisken's very impressive with the hard serve, even with the
eye patch. The forty nine Ers and wide receiver Brandon
i Uk agreed to a four year contract extension worth
over seventy five million dollars guaranteed. He was already due
about fourteen mil for this season, so potentially he'll earn
nearly one hundred and thirty five million dollars over the
(30:49):
next five years, including ninety mil in the first three years.
Bengals wide receiver Jamar Chase did not practice again, wanting
a new deal. He's been a hold in and it
is official. Car Carlos Alcarez just got swept, losing the
third and final set six ' four in New York.
Scottie Scheffler leads the PGA Tourist Championship in Atlanta. Golden
(31:09):
State gave Steph Curry a one year extension worth over
sixty million dollars. He's now signed through twenty twenty seven.
As for late night college football on Fox TV, it's
early fourth quarter Minnesota holding on fourteen thirteen over North Carolina.
The game's still going because kickoff was delayed an hour
by bad weather. At the start Kansas City and Toronto
(31:30):
with wins. Philadelphia was down four to nothing in the
six but still beat the Atlanta Braves five to four
despite two home runs from Matt Olsen and the Mets
with a run in the top of the ninth one
at Arizona three to two, solo homers for Francisco Lindor
his twenty eighth and Pete Alonzo his twenty ninth.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Back to you, O MG, really the Mets win at
three to two Hosea Glacier. Thank you, Steven. The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the Tyraq dot
Com studios. So we'll have more college football coming up.
We got Pete you tack on the way at the
top of the hour. What did he think the way
the game went down? Dion Sanders, Shador Sanders, The Unbelievable
(32:06):
Night of Travis Hunter, and more. Keep it right here.
But speaking of football, how about some fantasy football talk
right here. Let's get a quarterback it's gonna throw for
more than three hundred yards, or how about that receiver
in Miami grabbing a touchdown? Check out DraftKings pick six

Pick six that's code JSS. DraftKings Pick six Code JSS.
The crown is yours. So now, how about some fantasy advice.
He hits that to play on DraftKings, a guy I
(33:12):
like taking late. I know that all the attention has
been on Lad McConkie with the Chargers, and he's going
very early in drafts. Could wind up being the number
one receiver with the Chargers and getting a lot of balls,
like he catches everything in practice. Lad McConkie looks legit,
but I'm telling you late in the draft, if you
can grab josh Palmer, this is someone who has flashed
(33:33):
two years ago, had a really good year last year.
He got stuck behind a couple of big receivers. And
the fact that they had to force feed Quentin Johnston
on everybody because well, he took him out early. Got
to see these any good now. Quentin Johnson is barely
a backup. Palmer's caught pass from Justin Herbert the last
couple of years. Somebody else is gonna have to be
a wide receiver that's gonna give you ten plus Fantasy points.
(33:53):
And Palmer's that guy. He's someone to take late, a
sleeper that you're gonna wind up playing, and you're gonna
wind up playing him depending on your league. You'll play
him as a flex, you'll play him as a wide receiver.
Two some weeks when you're down in buys'll plame as
a wide receiver. Three Absolutely, I like Joshua Palmer.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
We're down in our WR four w R five range.
Guy I'll be talking about on the iWatch Flex podcast
and It's a little bit of home cooking because I
don't do this often, especially in a Bears passing game.
But roam a Doonsay being drafted as the fortieth wide
receiver on average. Smith down where we're talking about mcconkee
down a little bit higher than where you're at with Palmer,
(34:31):
But people looking at Keenan Allen and DJ Moore and
Cole Comet and pushing a Dononsa down. I wouldn't be
shocked if he's right there with Dj Moore in terms
of final stat line. May take a little time, but
we've seen that connection all throughout Hard Knocks. That's the
one positive you could take from what was an otherwise
boring series this offseason is Odonsay is that guy?
Speaker 1 (34:56):
He is him? There you go. There's some big adjustments
and some big advice we can give you there again,
get everything you need play at DraftKings coming up next. Yes,
we got more on Colorado on the way. But straight ahead,
Steph Curry is now going to be a warrior for life?
Or is he? That's next right here Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app Fox.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. We'll have more on Colorado and Dion's night
coming up in a bit. Waiting for Coach Prime to
hit the podium following that mass chaos of a win
over North Dakota State. My goodness, but earlier today we
(35:51):
watched Steph Curry get paid a one year extension with
the Golden State Warriors for sixty two million dollars. Trust me,
we're getting there. By twenty thirty NFL and NBA player
making one hundred million dollars a year, is it's gonna happen. Wemby.
It could be Wemby. It could be Wemby unless he
gets paid earlier. That's the whole thing is, like boy
(36:13):
Wenby might get paid a little too early for that.
He might get paid a couple of years early. But
all of this Warrior for life talk. Now that he's
tied with the Warriors for the next tied to the
Warriors for the next three years, he has said he
wants to be a Warrior for the rest of his
career and that's something very important to him. However, he
has also said he wants to make sure they're competing.
(36:37):
Now didn't say if we're not competing, I want out,
said I don't expect that to happen, but I really
want to be playing where you can compete. So what
he did in talking about this his future was saying, Hey,
I don't know. I want to be a warrior for life,
but but I want to make sure we're competing. But
I think it's gonna happen here. Okay, that's gonna change,
and I'll give you this Bowl prediction in the off season.
(37:00):
After this year in the NBA, all of a sudden,
it's gonna be the Steph Curry Sweepstakes. Wow, because things
are not going to get better in Golden State. He
signed to right, so now you got three more and
anybody that could trade for him, now you know what
you're paying for him. Right, But this will be a
situation where Steph is going to watch this year where
Golden State has a down year again, because look, it's
(37:23):
it's over right, Clay is gone, It's another year for Draymond. Uh,
you're not You've not been able to refill the cupboard
with young talent. Right the last three years, you're on
a big down turn.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
You're he's a beast. Sure, sure he is, let's go.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
No, he is good, but the West is so loaded
you're lucky. If you get into the you get into
the playing round. Another year of that and Steph is
going to understand it's not happening here and for someone
where you can tell that competitive desire the way he
took over the final two minutes of the gold medal
game in the Olympics against France. Yeah, he wanted a
gold medal because he never had one, but he still
(38:01):
has that I want to play in big games. How
many years does he have to go not playing in
big games before he says, you know, I don't want
to go, but I really want to win again. And
it's gonna be handled really carefully. This is not suddenly
where Steph's gonna put out a statement on social media
saying I want out. It's gonna be something along the
lines of sources Steph to talk with Warriors about future.
(38:25):
How do you see the future going. If Steph doesn't
like where it's going, if he doesn't think they can
bring in players to win, he might be open to
being traded, and then a few weeks later it's gonna
be Steph is more open to being traded after a
conversation with Steve Kerr. It's gonna be handled with kid
gloves because Steph doesn't want to leave and look like
he's leaving Golden State in the lurch. At the same time,
Golden State's gonna want to get players back for him
(38:46):
so they can hopefully compete again. So in a year,
in the next offseason, Steph Curry's gonna say, yeah, let's
put this in motion because I'm not gonna sit here
and just get beat the last seven eight years of
my career and all of a sudden, I'm play Steph. Right,
I went from gold medal Steph and now I'm playing Steph.
It's you don't want to play Stephan the play in
because he could send you home. I'm not gonna be
(39:08):
playing Steph. I want to be playoff. I want to
be NBA Final Steph. So you think he's a warrior
for life, Yeah, check back with me again in the
offseason after a down yere for Golden State and see
if that's still the case. But it's like with all
of these things, right, we had the fun little story,
the rumor conjecture speculation of hey, the Lakers would like
luka donciz.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
It's like, oh, you just signed an extension. I'm like,
that doesn't matter, Like none of that matters. He could
be happy today and three weeks from now be pissed off. Likewise,
Steph Curry get up in his fields quite a bit
during the Olympics and recognizing what it's like to not
only get the nation behind you, a globe whatever, but
to get that love and feel of winning again. So
(39:51):
sure that's.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Gonna be latent there.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
I mean, the way the contracts sync up now assuming
and I would assume he does. Draymond's about a twenty
eight million dollar option that is that year as well,
so the two of them would sync up and be
done at the same time, which would allow Golden State
to do the hard reset altogether if both were to
leave at the end of that juncture, but certainly before then. Yeah,
(40:15):
I mean, anything's in play, right, It's all just a
matter of finessing some money and opting out of some
of these other contracts, especially where you kept the team options,
and that's where always gets into the chaos for me.
Jason say, like Lonzo Ball in Chicago, it was a
player option hasn't played in two years. He was able
(40:36):
to say, I'm taking twenty one million. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
Am I gonna be ready? I don't know, So keep
an eye on.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Some of those at the back end of rosters.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Steph Curry sweepstakes get Rid just a few months away.
Next off season, you're talking about right around the beginning
of July. Hey, wait a minute, man, we can make it.
We gotta make a trade for Let's put some offer together.
Let's get Steph and we can go win another title.
We'll oft Born Curry coming up. But next we have Colorado.
We have to talk about Dion Fox
