Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Greetings, Welcome in Side hour two The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon picked up tonight. H'ab
brought to you by DraftKings sportsbook and official sports betting
partner of the NFL and NBA. Right now, use the
promo code JSS to claim your special offer DraftKings Again.
That's promo code JSS at DraftKings. DraftKings Promo code JSS
(00:52):
code is JSS at DraftKings. The crown is yours. Well,
the Monday Night Crown looks like it might be going
to the Arizona Cardinals. Fourth quarter looks like the Cowboys
were threatening, However, that is no longer the case. Got
a lot of long faces on the Cowboys sideline right now.
The Cardinals with a twenty seven seventeen lead, getting late
(01:13):
in the fourth quarter, just under four and a half
left to go, Cardinals have the football near midfield. We'll
have more on this game coming up in a few minutes.
And wait till we tell you what Troy Aikman had
to say about the Cowboys early on in this game,
talking about Jerry Jones and making trades and making the
Cowboys better. But a little bit more on the World Series,
(01:33):
right considering look we're still two days later, still the
biggest story in the world. The Dodgers come from behind
win in Game six and Game seven. About all the
six to seven memes now, the last couple of black
single handedly keeping the six to seven six sevens.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
He would not let that go.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
On the plane with Yamamoto, what games did we win?
Six seven?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Him and Sasaki?
Speaker 5 (01:54):
What was funny was folks assembled trying to get him
to sign autographs insteady he just decided he is gonna
play that game with him. Yeah, sign the ball many
yea yeah, six seven?
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Uh I signed six or seven autographs? Make me happy.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
But you want to know something, and this is gonna
I'm gonna tell you something that I guarantee you no
one's talked about with the Game seven of the World
Series play. And this gets into the narrative that I'm
gonna tell you the Dodgers winning the World Series. Remember
last year, the whole narrative they won Lazy Yankees, right,
Joe Kelly getting on tell you, even though we didn't
play at all, saying, hey, all the other teams we
(02:29):
played were better.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
The Yankees.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Lazy Yankees are bad fundamentally, base running, bad in the
field obviously. Uh, you know it was just a one
year anniversary of the of the of the bad, the
bad inning. You know, Game five for the Yankees last year,
Lazy Yankees bad fundamentally costing the series.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Right.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
You can say the same exact thing for the Blue Jays,
but people are But I'll tell you why. We'll talk
about a couple of plays here, same exact thing. Lazy
blue Jays bad fundamentally, which is why the dog are
walking around having their parade today, and the Blue Jay
just saying, oh, I think I think Connor Fileffel was safe,
And I'll play first of all, he wasn't safe, wasn't safe.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
It was close, and Will.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Smith picked his foot up off the bag on the
big play, but he got his foot back down and
the great screen red that's been going around today where
they where they cleaned up the dirt so you could see.
It's like like like like one of those things where
you know where they can enhance stuff like on TV.
We're going, hey, enhanced. I need to see who's face
that is? Like in all the adventure shows in the
spine movies, Enhance Enhance.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
That that video camera really that great in nineteen ninety four,
No it wasn't, but it is.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Now Look who that is? That's that spy we're looking
for enhance. Right, you can see the screen rab and
clearly his cleat wasn't on the plate, and Will Smith
got his foot back down right, foot came up and
back down, but he's out. It was close, but you're
talking about the Blue Jays now to go in order here.
They had the horrible bass running play with Barger in
the game before right where he's way too far off
(03:56):
a second base for reasons that make no sense. You're
not scoring right the game ending double play for the
Dodgers with Key k Hernandez and Miguel.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Rose's right in front.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Thirty five ft away and you freeze when you see
Hernandez coming in to catch the ball right like that.
We've talked about that play that you have to know,
you have to have those baseball instincts, and no, I
know where this ball is coming down, and either he's
gonna catch it, which guys, I gotta get back to
second base, or I'm only gonna get to third if
this ball bounces. And clearly you're not going further because
(04:29):
the runners hanging out a third right, runners hanging out.
He's not going anywhere. You got caught. You made a
bad that's a bad fundamental play. Fundamentally, that's your fault.
That was awful play, big epic f A. I l
extra love to Miggy Rojas. Right, Oh my god, how
many big plays a good ros man?
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Come on? But he was our favorite watching the series.
But get it in there now.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Now you talk about the next play, right, the Miguel
Rojas play right, the home run to tie it, the
play out at home plate we're talking about with with
Kiner Filefa and and his play. Miguel Ohas should never
be the hero that he is, because he should be
the guy. He hit the home run, but the ground
ball the second he loses his balance, he falls to
(05:10):
a knee, he double clutches, and still he throws him
out at home plate, right because you see that that
ikf is a foot and a half off the bag
at third base. That is absolutely inexcusable, fundamentally, it's awful. Now,
is that in the Blue Jays head going We just
lost a game because of the base running situation when
(05:30):
Barger got doubled off a second base. Yeah, let's not
make that mistake. And Connor Flaifa said after the game,
our coaches didn't want us to get big leads or
big secondary leads.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Okay, well, but I mean that was something contested by
a lot of curt and former ballplayers as well.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
And I understand that.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
But okay, this is him throwing the coaching staff under
the bus. Where Yeah, but okay, big, okay, you don't
want an overly large lead or secondaryly not I understand,
but just an average lead. You are sliding in at
home you are winning the World Series, and your video
of you scoring that run is posted forever and you
are immortal. And instead, I still can't it over the
(06:07):
fact that he is not even a foot and a
half off the base when that pitch happens. No, what
we want to go You really want to get over
a line out? That's what you're thinking. That's how bad strategy,
that's how bad coaching was. Is put in the Blue
Jays heads that we really are scared of this moment
right now. We don't want to line in double play
because we lined in the double play last night. Well,
you know what that was Barge's fault. That's your if
(06:29):
that's whatever coaching fault. He should not have been there,
and he's gotta know better, right, same thing here, here's
another base running error the next night where I'm not
saying gotta go crazy and say I'll screw that, but
have a normal lead. At first I thought, oh wow,
how do you get that bad of a break home
on a ground ball? But then I saw, oh no,
he's he's like two feet off a third base. Yeah,
(06:52):
what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Like what you cost him the World Series?
Speaker 1 (06:56):
That's a play if this was a regular ground ball
to rate, But I mean us the ball kind of
gets up on him fast, and he loses his balance
and he faults backward and.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
He double clutches, and still he gets him out.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Of the play.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Was a lot still, so being out here in Los
Angeles had tuned into our flag chip AM five seventy
l a sports covering the everything going on, obviously the
parade route and all the interviews and it just fantastic coverage.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Podcasts are all up on the iHeart World. But but
there was a bit about.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Him having suffered the recurrence of his shoulder injury on
the play that ended Game six. So he hits the
home run and he's still making these plays and then
we'll see if he's got to have his shoulder surgery after.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
All of this.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
I'm done. I'm done, just to walk away. This is
your Jordan making the shot, pushing Brian Russell down.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, I think he's not. He said he wants to
do one more year, but we'll see.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
But but all of that, you know, as you should
tell Mark about I want to go manage and to
pick pick the minor league team. He wants to go
manage because head pick the minor league team. You want
to go back.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Yeah, that's gonna end up in the managerial food chain there.
But you know, the the all twenty two obviously tongue
in cheek with what we watch with football is it
betrays him because he's leaning back towards third as the
ball comes in, so loses a step there. To your point,
it's a shortly laid off. I feel bad for him
because he's getting absolutely skewered. And he talked about some
(08:22):
of the threats that are coming in because you know,
the low level folks getting involved in all of the commentary. Like,
there was a confluence of a number of circumstances that
led to this in terms of not getting runners over
the bunt that we discussed last hour, like all of
these things, big situational moments that were just fails. And
(08:43):
obviously then you know, the home run to Maggie's a
whole other issue when you talk about, hey, sometimes it's
just his day.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
You tip the cap. But the play at the plate, yeah,
that'll live forever.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Now here's something a little bit you I told you,
I gave you something different you haven't heard. Here's something
a little different about the play that was, of course
today's play of the day and maybe the play of
the year so far.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Here's the O two pitch correct bounces, the.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
De beat, the champ, you gotta knock, come out, the
Dodgers stand tall, then went packed up.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Back titles Joe Davis on the call. There it is
the double play that ends the game. He didn't want
to get sued by Rick Flair. You mentioned, you mentioned
the All twenty two. Okay, now here's a situation. Remember
Vlad Guerrero doubles to lead off the inning, right, they
bunt him over to third base, Barger walks, and now
here comes Kirk hits into a double play. Watch the
(09:44):
All twenty two version of this play, or watch from
the All like the the uh the outfield cam of
the infield during this play. Okay, just tell you lazy
Blue Jays, bad fundamental bass running watch this play. Don't
watch Kirk, don't watch Mookie Betts. Watch Vlad Junior at
(10:05):
third base, who when the ball is hit, he starts
jogging home, looking back at the play. That's obviously gets it,
steps on second throws the first game over. Vlad Junior
never even crosses the plate. He gets to where the
batter's box and just turns towards the dog after the
double play is after the game is over. Right, That's
how disinterested vladd Junior was in running down the line
(10:28):
in this watch it.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Why is this a big deal?
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Because you have seen hey when a ball is hit,
the number one thing the Dodgers are trying to do
is win this game. They don't want that run to cross.
He's running down third base like I'm just an interested
observer of this play. Now, Mookie Betts gets it, goes
to second, goes to first. Right, But let's just say,
you see where the ball is, grind, it's a bang
(10:50):
bang play. Why are you not busting your ass to
score a run? Because let's just say Mookie Betts catches
the ball. What if Miguel Rojas doesn't get to second,
or Mookie Betts is a little bit further off of
the bag than he thinks, or he stumbles catching the
ball and I can't turn to get the double play.
Guess what Mookie Betts is. His momentum is bringing him
in towards the plate. He's gonna throw home, sure, and
(11:13):
what's he gonna see? Vlad Junior just trapesing along down
the third base line, looking back at the play, watching
it instead of busting his ass to score a run. Now,
and he's lucky that that's not what happened, because could
you imagine, here's Vlad Junior who did everything for this team,
and everything and here he is getting thrown out the
plate because he was watching the play.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Legend would have been gutted in that moment.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
You look at that, that is that is blue Jay
base running fundamentally, lazy Yankees, lazy blue Jays.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
You want to tell, oh, well, the play a play.
That's a play right there that you know.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Obviously I didn't think about it and didn't see until
I saw that plan, It's like wow. Vlad Junior is
like like me, I'm like, he's watching the game. I'm what,
I'm three thousand miles away watching the game. He's ninety
feet away watching the game. But that's something that clearly
could have gone the other way. Now, I'm not saying
that every play, Hey what if this out? Well, but
it's a ground ball in the infield, bust, you're asked
(12:09):
to get home. You don't know how it's gonna go.
You have no idea how this play is gonna unfold, right,
you want to fake Okay, I'm watching what all of
a sudden, Mookie Betts if he turns, bobbles the ball,
or he's got a shot and an easy shot to
get Vlad Junior out at home plate, got an easy
shot to get him out at home plate, and then
all of a sudden.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Whoa, whoa Lad Junior, whoa Hey, Vlad dude, what were
you doing?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Man? You cost us the World Series by that by
jogging home. Now, obviously he went to second over to first.
But watch that version of the play and I'll tell
you there's three, just three base running mistakes from the
end of Game six and game seven, six, seven sixty
seven from Game six and Game seven that illustrate. You
want to know why the Blue Jays loss, why they
couldn't close the Dodgers out, there's your reason right there.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Well, you go through it right.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
For the series as a whole, lot's been made of
all right, here's how many runs this card, well, nine
were in that one inning.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
They didn't do a lot.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
They left a lot of runners on base. Situational hitting
was a disaster. So do you discredit them or do
you show some love to what the Dodgers pitching was
able to do. Blake Snell, who didn't excel as a starter,
comes in in relief and puts up his big moments there.
(13:20):
And obviously Yamamoto you can't say enough about. But yeah,
the base running in the last two games, and certainly
those several instances that have been outlined here. The Guerrero
is interesting, right, just the alternate universe of what happens.
Fortunately for him, we'll never know.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
I mean, you think about the watch that we we go,
Oh man, he's just kind of I'm an.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
Interested observer, But think about that's becomes legend. I mean,
beyond the fact that he's now got four rings, like
all of that, and he came up through with the
huge hit in Game six that we chronicled here on
the show Friday Night. But like all of that, all
the sudden he makes that play to get.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Guerrero at home. In that alternate universe, he's king.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Yeah, exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dome. So
lazy Yankees, lazy Blue Jays. There you go, there's your narrative.
Lazy Why the Dodgers have the World Series Trophy again?
Why they have that big hunk of metal again and
not the.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Blue and they scored more runs in one more games.
They was gonna say in that final game, what what happened?
Oh five to four? Fine?
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome. We'll have
more baseball on the way but straight ahead.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
How about this? How about we get into the epic.
Speaker 1 (14:34):

(15:55):
out for you every single night. Well it is over
in Dallas, MRSA flee for the Dallas Cowboys. The Arizona
Cardinals and Jacoby Brissett walk into Dallas and come out
with a twenty seven to seventeen win. Brissett goes for
two sixty a couple of touchdowns. I'mari Demricado runs for
(16:16):
seventy nine yards. These are all names that are familiar
only to fantasy players. Marvin Harrison Junior has a big
night finally seven for ninety six and a touchdown, but
big night for Michael Wilson. I mean, this is this
is an absolute epic fail for the Cowboys on so
many levels.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
I mean, look at the graphic that they put up
for the next four games, and they used Marvin Harrison
Junior as the guy because you have no idea what
else is gonna use? I question mark for the quarterback position.
Can we put Kurt Warner out there?
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Can we bring him back? Because Larry Fitzgerald still got
some a router or two in him. What an absolute
epic fail for the Cowboys. Just think about where they're at. Okay,
Cowboys were a team that started at this season, didn't
have a lot of expectations. Micah Parsons is traded right
before the season begins. Cowboys defense is absolutely abominable, but
(17:09):
the offense is one of the top two to three
offenses in the game. Now they play a really bad defense,
they look really good, but great offense. Right, they figured
things out Jack and Pickins and Cede Lamb and Williams.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Oh boy, it's great.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Okay, So they start to get things coming back their
way a little bit, right, they start to play a
couple of really tough games. Here they are on the
eve of the trade deadline, in which Jerry Jones is
intimated he has already made a trade but not announced that.
We'll get to that in a minute. But this is
their chance, Monday Night Football against a bad Cardinals team
(17:42):
that is bereft of playmakers. Even our defense should be
able to stop Jacobe Bleepin Brissette tonight and win this game.
We get back to five hundred. Trade deadline is tomorrow,
we're feeling good. This is everything tonight. We can restart
our season. Everything that's gone wrong, We can just hit
the reset button because here we are midway through the year,
(18:04):
or at five hundred, and if we're five hundred midway
through the season, all your hopes and dreams are still there. Sure,
maybe you're not there to be Hey, we're talking about
are the top two seeds in the NFC. But our
hopes and dreams of being a playoff team, being a
team that can do some damage, it's all there. We
get a couple of changes, or maybe get a couple
of players defensively come in, maybe make a big swing
and make that big trade for Trey Henderson, whatever it's
(18:26):
going to be, we make that deal. We got everything
there for us. And this is the effort that you
put out there tonight where you turn the football over
three times, and I'm sorry the Cowboys, as good as
the offense is, they're not a good enough team to
have a minus three turnover differential win a football game.
This was a game they never even really threatened. We
thought they going to make it close at the end,
(18:47):
but the turnovers just killed them. They couldn't get anything
going offensively, they had one offensive touchdown, one touchdown because
they blocked a punt. This was a dominant effort by
the Cardinals defensively, and with no playmakers, they went in
score twenty seven. This isn't this is the worst game.
This is the lowest point for the Cowboys this season
(19:08):
because of where they were at and what they could
have done coming off a game against the team. Let's
be quite on they should beat them. I mean, the
last time the Cardinals beat the Cowboys Monday Night football
I think was Jerry maguire. And this is where they're
sitting right now. Yeah, what a fail by the Dallas Colt.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Yeah, I mean they were only a three or three
and a half point favorite, so Vegas didn't think there
was that greatest separation between him, owing again to the
horrid nature of what the Cowboys are putting up defensively.
And you know, I only kind of take some comfort
in it watching Matti Eberflus's squad roll out like this.
(19:45):
But they did take away Micah Parsons on the eve
of a season after you've game planned. Yeah, you're gonna
get it done right, Okay, when I do stuff, Eleven's
gonna be here right, Yeah, now he's out here anymore.
And then you hype it all day long because what
did we hear right in the midst of what was
a very wild sunday of games, some crazy ass finishes
(20:05):
and results that Jerry Jones makes the thing about a trade.
So like this whole game, it's like you're gonna come
out jacked up. You're gonna come out and the offense
is gonna start flying around. Now Arizona, no slouch, is
defensively twelfth in the league and total defense giving up
just twenty two a game. So now that they'd put
up a little bit of resistance, but you're moving the ball. Okay,
the interception at the end that gives you the extra
(20:28):
plus in the plus minus category there, but or I
guess for the Cowboys the minus there. But you get
the ball back, you're down ten, and then Javonte Williams
gets its stripped on a play that he's looking to
make and before he goes down there, it is turnover
and just absolutely eviscerates any chance you had at a
(20:49):
late comeback because Dak was starting to move the ball,
they were starting to press down field a bit, and
it goes for not so all of that to say,
Jacoby Brissett's usually not a guy that's gonna make a
bunch of mistakes. Now, in the first half, he missed
some opportunities to miss some throws to where it's like okay,
and even on the radio and TV broadcast like all right,
(21:09):
this is why he's not your full time starter. Our
throws that he doesn't make like that, but he doesn't
send it air mailing, right, And so he's gonna keep
you in the game. And if you can get any
semblance of a run game, you're gonna have yourself a
little bit of balance. Cowboys were absolutely deplorable on both
sides of the ball. Nothing, nothing gained whatsoever. That block
(21:29):
punt off a guy's helmet is the highlight of your week.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
I mean, this was a Cowboys team that the Cardinals
came in knowing they're gonna give us the football. We
can punch it out, we can pull it out. All
these turnovers were we're ripping the ball away from right.
They had a fumble that they were lucky the Cowboys
fell on right right, they had a big completion. Cardinals
ripped it out and Williams happened to fall on he's
had to be standing there. Like the Cardinals said, we're
(21:54):
gonna go get the football from you tonight, so they
knew they could do that against the.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
Cowboy a Tilmau and getting into the Hall of Fame man,
So did he get like credit like lunch, but the
rip is not pe ut Tillman peanuts the punch. We
watched a couple of Cowboys defenders instead of trying to
make a tackle, trying to punch the ball out.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
There's one.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
I want to go back and find the video and
post it because it was absurd. It was right before
we came on air. Guy literally chases the receiver out
for like fifteen yards trying to punch the ball out.
It's like he's gaining an extra twelve fifteen yards and
you chased him out of bouse. That's all great, the
clock stops. You didn't get the ball and you gave
(22:33):
him an extra ten Like what are you doing it?
Stop punching at him and tackle was.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Ass So not only was this a fail by the
Cowboys on the field tonight, which was bad enough, Jerry
Jones goes on Stephen Asmith's podcast earlier today and intimates
that he's already made a trade that paperwork goes in tomorrow.
Traded for the Harrison kid from the Cardinals. But probably
should have made that deal tonight before he played against us.
Not for Marvin Harrison Junior, not for but h seven score.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
I had him tonight.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
They said we just want him for one more game.
I said, well the camn get hurt. But all right, Well,
I sought we'll get him tomorrow. Well, they would have
had to try to tackle him because he was running.
Got the set guy coming in too, just got the Demorcado,
got all these guys coming. So he intimates that he's
made a trade. Won't say who, but it'll be announced tomorrow.
(23:24):
And he says, maybe we have another couple of moves happening.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Okay, well, this is.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Really weird because usually when a team makes a trade,
to hear about it, someone says something. But Jerry Jones
wants to keep the lid on this.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I have a hard time, Number one, I have a
hard time believing it's for someone that's a big difference maker,
because if it's someone who's a big star, if it's
a Trey Hendrickson, if it's some that would get out
right like we would know that they would be Yeah,
I get that you want to do it, but really, Ja,
we're gonna wait till the paperwork gets in tomorrow. There's
a part of me, I swear to God, Mike, I
swear there's a part of me that thinks he's referring
(23:59):
to the mic apart person's trade. Well, you know, we
already made a trade. I'm going to tell you about that.
What trade did you make?
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Well?
Speaker 3 (24:05):
The Parsons trade? Oh, Jerry, tomorrow's the death. What do
you mean you made a trade? Made that trade? About?
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Well?
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Made a trade? Not telling me what was the trade
we got in Arizona? Larry draft picks did only rush
nineteen yards? I read there's part of me that thinks
he's talking about that. There really is. I'm telling you, man,
it really is. I'm hearing at Sauce Gardner.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
But yeah, among the guys, it won't be h But
here is Troy Aikman, you know, Cowboy Legend hall of Famer,
from the broadcast tonight on ESPN, talking about Jerry Jones
from earlier today, announcing that he's got a trade that
just got to wait for the paperwork and the ink
to draw to find out who we got.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Now, I'm willing to name what the trade was tonight.
That will come out tomorrow. Yeah, he might want to
cancel that trade. I don't think I want a player
from what I've seen tonight. It's gonna make a difference for.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
This Trey Aikman now out of the running to take
over for Brian schottenheimert Cowboys head coach.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Did he just said I'm blank that.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
No, because Jud's a guy that's getting He's wearing it
a lot in terms of media criticism because he's he's
hit that point where he's just blunt right, he's gonnagainst
his own team where he played and lived and all
of that. He's made his riches and off of the
Dallas Star. He hadn't pulled any punches with Jerry anymore.
This is not the first time, and this wasn't the
(25:26):
most critical Earlier in the year, he was even worse.
But yeah, this one, Uh, you know, I'm pretty pretty much.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
On the nose. Yeah, I mean, look I get that.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, Look, there's is there another player to help somebody
on this the football aspect of it, of course, But
just think about this for a second, right, Just think
that Jerry Jones made a trade and is not gonna
tell anybody about it.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Doesn't tell his team.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
His team doesn't know about it, right, because you think
somebody would say something. So I'm gonna announce it myself tomorrow.
He's doing the quiet part out loud of knowing that, Hey,
I do things for show. I do things for the
jazz of it. I try to keep things going. I
try to make it more about the Dallas Cowboys. And
(26:11):
I'm all for relevancy.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Right.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
We've said this for a long time. And congratulates to
everybody who really comes around to it this year. Jerry
Jones can't win on the field, so he wins off
the field. He wins headlines in relevancy because he can't
win championships. But that's winning to him. That's how Jerry
Jones can look at winning and say we won. Right
when he looks at the valuation of the Dallas Cowboys,
it's most expensive franchise in sports.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
I've won. We've won.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Well, no Cowboys fans just saying, hey, wait a minute,
we want to win on the field. Yeah, no, we
can't do that, but look I've won with this. I've
won business wise.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
This is not said last week. And I'm winning with this.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Being a big story because we're playing tonight and Jerry knows, hey, here,
we're playing tonight. I can make this be a much
bigger deal if I intimate we've made a trade, but
don't say it. Like at some point, if you're the
cowboys and you're the player, you go, can we just
have some sort of meeting. Can we have some sort
of everybody coming to the conclusion on the same page
(27:10):
that this is not helping us. None of this is
helping us. And Jerry Jones is never going to get
that part of it unless somebody stands up and says something. Right,
unless somebody stands up and says, hey, we can't do this, man,
We got to stand up.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Right.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
We talk with this in politics all the time, right
whatever side of the isle you're on, we want to
sit up and say, someone needs to tell those people,
whoever it is, your senator, your governor, this is no good.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Okay, nobody does that, right, Nobody does that because everybody's
fighting all these different battles.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Nobody does that.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
You would think that somebody went up and say, Jerry,
this is not working man. You making it the Jerry Jondra,
this is not working. But everybody likes their jobs. Nobody
wants to say anything. Brian Schotenheimer likes being a head coach, right,
Steven likes running things the dak Prescott likes getting paid,
likes being quarterback in the Dallas cous But somebody you
would think would throw the emergency break and go, so,
all right, we can't be a twenty four hour reality
(28:03):
show that's not going to make wins on the football
field happen. So we have to make a decision.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
What are we in for? What are we here for?
Speaker 1 (28:11):
And this is where the Cowboys have to have that
intervention and say, this is exactly what we need. Man,
We need something from you. We need you to not
make it this situation. Instead, we don't get it. And
it's just okay. We try to survive in Dallas from
week to week knowing this is what Jerry Jones.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
Does said earlier today, quote when it gets slow, I
stir that blank up unquote.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
It doesn't work. It's like everything we've been talking about forever.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
He quiet part so he listens to the listeners to
the show, Like the folks that run the Magic Johnson
Twinter now here he is.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
That's a good point. Here he is after the game tonight,
asked if he still has a trade lined up for
tomorrow ready to go?
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Yeah, you have a trade from Silver Day to go
we stale can.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Yes, it wasn't dependent on this.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
Again, I understand what I've said absolutely, or say out
of margos So Shulee Day was all about Tomalt.
Speaker 6 (29:07):
You shouldn't do anything.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
You should wake sit.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
What would do to.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Tune in tomorrow? Flame that episode of Save Our Cowboy?
And I'm gonna tell you now, I got stuff cooking.
This is This is not a It's not a streaming
show where Hey, you're leaving me with a cliffhanger, so
I tune in to watch the next Brother after dark
come on nine nine to five season.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
That's not what keep the cameras going on in the
common room and the fire burning.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Now he's gone, Jerry Jones is gone from Hey, I
keep things going to not hey. I'm just gonna shamelessly
tell you, yeah, I just try to keep the interest
level going.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
Can someone create me the AI give him the old
razzle dazzle cause Steven can't even do it. I mean,
that's the day I gotta be thinking he's been barking
this with as many megaphones like Bart Simpsons, remember when
he wanted to do the testing thing when they toured
the police apartment and he grabbed all the megaphones and
put him together and did the testing and then blew
out all the windows that that's what Steven should be doing.
(30:07):
And I got a feeling he probably has for years.
And Jerry just says, I'm still a Charger, still my squad.
And Sean Niver's in his first year. What the hell
is he gonna do? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:17):
No, I mean, there's nobody to stand but you need
an intervention.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
You need that.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Hey, you can't just be the attention star franchise. We're
not gonna win. And it's eventually someone's gonna listen to him.
I feel like I'm watching episode of The Diplomat where
everybody's afraid to talk to the President, Like, Wow, just
gonna say this, She's gonna say you cause someone's got
to say no.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
Is just the thing where we do the shawsh Ank
Redemption letter writing campaign to a week to Roger Staubachs
so he stands in he might listen to you.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports, and Martin Wise what he got for us.
Speaker 6 (30:49):
H I, like most other people here, am all over
Jerry tradegate locking into his postgame press conference. Our postgame
scrum you got just played the sound I was reading
a tweet from Nicole Hutchinson, a Dallas reporter, said.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
There there is no trade.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
There may be a trade.
Speaker 6 (31:07):
He's figuring out how he's gonna feel about it when
he wakes up in the morning. But a lot of
bluster from Jerry today, much more bluster from Jerry than
there was from the Dallas Cowboys defense. Twenty seven to seventeen.
In the final score, Jacoby Brissett walked in one for
thirty one, two sixty one through the air, two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
One of those so Marvin Harrison Junior.
Speaker 6 (31:26):
He's got seven catches ninety six yards on the night,
one of his best nights really of his career, but
definitely of this year thus far. Dak Prescott with one touchdown,
one interception, two fifty through the air, interception coming on
the last Cowboys offensive plot No, I'm sorry, second, yeah,
last Cowboys offensive play of the game. Javonte Williams had
fifteen carries and eighty three yards, but he did fumble
late in the fourth quarter, which time made any chance
(31:49):
for a Dallas comeback here and Brandon Aubrey did attempt
a sixty eight yard field goal, so that was cool.
He missed it though Fromander's linebacker Frankie Louv who has
been suspended without for one game for hip drop tackles.
The ty Ravens have traded for Titans ed rusher Dumont Drones.
I'm sorry, Dremont Jones, a fifth round pick that could
become a fourth round pick. Jalen Phillips is headed from
(32:11):
Miami to Philadelphia and exchange for a twenty twenty six
third rounder, and Jayden Daniels and Marshall Lattimore both out indefinitely.
Lattimore towards ACL Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbows. The
Commanders lost to the Seahawks on Sunday. Dan Quinn took
the blame for having Daniels out there in the first place.
Chargers left tackle Joe Alt will be out for the
(32:33):
remainder of the year with a ankle injury. Two live
NBA games right now, the Lakers look to defend their
undefeated road record, sixty eight to sixty six over the
Portland Trailblazers. Right now, six thirty left in the third quarter.
Jandre Eighton with twenty one point seven rebounds. No Luca
or Austin Reeves in this game for Los Angeles. At
(32:54):
the half, the Clippers lead the Heat seventy one to
sixty six. James Harden with six I'm sorry, seventeen points
and six assists. Earlier today we saw the Timberwolves beat
the Nets one twenty five to one oh nine. Nets
winless on the year, Bucks one seventeen over the Pacers
one fifteen. Pacers have only won one game thus far.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Utah.
Speaker 6 (33:12):
With the win over Boston, the Knicks beat the Wizards
one nineteen to one O two Carlonty Towns thirty three points,
thirteen rebounds for Bodega Cat.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Back to you, big night, Thanks m dub We got
more football on way. We'll have more from Jerry Jones
coming up in a bit. But straight ahead. What's it
like when the day ahead of the deadline, one NFL
team's offense turns on its defense. No, it's a team,
quite honestly that's got to get blown up after this year.
That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

So we have more football coming up, but a few
minutes you will hear from Jerry Jones speaking just moments
ago after the Cowboys embarrassing on Monday Night Football. Not
my fault, blame, Stephen, but we talk about teams that's
(34:32):
got to get blown up all the time, and as
we get ahead of the midway point of the season,
trade deadline tomorrow in the NFL, no more fun game
this week than your Chicago Bears holding off the suddenly
potent Joe Flacco and Cincinnati Bengals offense.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
I hope Joe Flacco plays till least fifty fun a week.
That's a week.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
It's gonna be what the calendar. But I mean, guy
had to have the shot in the show, have a
chance to play, and he's still out there winging her out.
By the way, if you don't appreciate how good t
Higgins is, because Jamar Chase gets all the love man
the catches he was making yes day, Good lord, that
was a highlight real worth in one game.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
The game of the week, watching the Bears, who were
up big nearly give things away, despite the fact they
nearly had two hundred yard return for touchdowns in the
fourth wiped off, the one.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Of which I'm still kind of questioning.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
Chase Brown gets credited with the the takedown, the way
he got a thumb on the guy as he's getting
ready to make a catch.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
But what are you gonna do?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
But as bad as things are for a lot of
teams in the NFL, there's a lot of bad teams,
right because look, I'm an expert on bad football book.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
My team actually shows up in the Tankathon on the
good side. That no, no, no, this is no, I
think I have to cut and print that. I may
never see that again. He may raise a banner for that.
That might be, Hey, look at this, guys, we're here.
Uh the Bengals now they're offensive. Ours are taking on
their defense.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Chase Brown, following the game yesterday, took on the defense,
saying after the game quote, now that the offense is
stepping up, we got to play complimentary football.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
We just put the ball in the end zone, go
up a point at the end, finish the blanking game.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Just end it like that's it.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
That's what we need to do. Just end the blancing game.
Make him give the ball back to us. Let's go
to twenty two victory and end the game.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Zach Taylor a little upset that Chase Brown has saying, hey, defense,
what happened to you? Said he hoped that there would
be hope. It's a one time thing. Jamar Chase when
he was asked about playing at the end, he said, oh,
I'm not gonna talk about the defense, just about the offense.
Speaker 5 (36:40):
At least Zach Taylor didn't come back and say, hey,
did you see those two passes that Chase Brown let
go through his hands? It would have been a lot
easier for us because we would have had first downs
earlier in the game.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
This is a Bengals team now, because we haven't gotten
to this conversation. But you know, playing the game of
the day yesterday, which is an incredibly fun game, you
can see two teams long time doormats going in absolutely
different directions, the Bears figuring it out, which I told
you era of good feeling. Man, I told you Bears
is gonna be good and congratulates everybody else who's stealing
that now. Oh yeah, so the Bears are gonna be good. No, no, no,
(37:12):
look man, it's the roller coaster. They're basically doing the
cul de sac and just driving back and forth. This week,
it's no good, it's terrible. It ain't gonna work. They
hate each other. He doesn't work in this system. Oh wait,
this week they're all a bunch of geniuses. Bears are fun,
and it's the Bengals. The Bengals. This is a team
that if you're making tough decisions now, and why wouldn't you,
(37:32):
because the Bengals are bad, right, it's not happening for you.
Got Joe Flacco coming in, you're scoring points, You're still
not winning games. Right, it's still not going for even
in the worst division in football. You're three and six.
You lost to the Jets. Man, you give up thirty
nine to the Jets justin fields, who if he completes,
if he throws for one hundred yards in a game,
that's a lot, right. Forty seven to the Bears. It's
(37:55):
you know, thirty thirty one to the Steelers. Their offense
is absolutely abysmal. Right, this is You're bad. This is
a team that needs to get blown up. They've been
holding on to this. Hey, we still have our Big Three.
It was a Super Bowl, Dude, that was three years ago.
Your super Bowl window has open and shut with this team.
You can't keep Joe Burrow healthy. You pay Jamar Chase
(38:17):
a ton of money, You pay t Higgins a lot
of money. Chase Brown's a really good running back. You
paid Trey Hendrickson this money this year, and you paid
a lot of money to guys and your team is
three and six, right, this is it.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
This is a team.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
We talk about the Dolphins all the time, but man,
if you're the Bengals, you have to sit back at
the end of the year and go.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
Who do we bring back, right, We can't.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
We can We can't come back next year with Burrow
and Chase and Higgins making all the money and we're
trying to get back to Glory Dale. I mean three
years ago. Man, that's a long time to be holding
on too well. We made it work anywhere. It's not
coming back. Those days aren't coming back. Clearly, something else
is needed head coach situation as well, because you're not
getting better, you're just getting worse, and you're finding way
(38:58):
even when you have talent on this team. So but
if you're going ahead of tomorrow, man, if you're the Bengals,
you're gonna make a tough decision and say we can
get out from under this contract. We can save this
kind of money. We are not doing anything this year.
Let's move on. Let's say we have and let's revamp
next year where maybe it's changes at head coach, maybe
it's one less big star receiver and a different kind
(39:21):
of mix in.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
That's you have to do.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
If you're the Bengals. Tough decisions got to get made.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
But this is a team.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
You got to blow things up to an extent either
by tomorrow or more likely at the end of the stuff.
Speaker 5 (39:30):
It goes back when they were in the Super Bowl.
What did I keep saying? Everybody was feeling all fat
and happy. It's gonna be there forever. No, no, no,
that window opens and shuts real fast on you, especially
if you can't keep your guy right. And feel for
Joe Burrow, he's missed a lot of time. We'll see
how he recovers from the latest. But defensively, look, the
Hendrickson thing fixes itself either you trade him or he's
(39:52):
done at the end of the year. Right, you didn't
give him an extension, he's gone. The fact that he
had to miss two of the last three games probably
means you.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
Get what you get now. You get what you get
now for him?
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Do it?
Speaker 5 (40:04):
Do that by tomorrow at least you get him to
sign a physical. You know, the hopefully clears and and
and moves on. But the rest of it, Yeah, I mean,
for Zach Taylor, how many bites at the Apple do
you get this? Efentsively? You're a disaster. Offensive line is
a disaster. The only team you can bank on continuing
to be a dumpster fires Cleveland. The other two teams
are going to outpace.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Shift and now the offense is taken on the defense
that's just awful. Coming up next, do the Cowboys have
another trade coming or do they not? Well here From
Jerry Jones, Jason and Mike Fox Sports
