Well dressed hobo.

(00:58):
who tied the game in the seventh thinning his first
at bat of the series with a single. He is
up again, but again two outs, runner at first bottom
of the ninth inning. The winner goes onto the alcs
And I told you last hour, Mike cow insane. My
family is right. My wife's family sure that the group
family text is It's like, I can't even they're not
(01:19):
even speaking a language anymore. It's just like it's just
like grunts and like typing. Everybody is so insane. They're
so insane. They tried to call me for four seconds ago.
My phone is ringing and it's I'm like, Joe about
you know, I'm on the air. What that doesn't matter.
I'm calling Jason Joe.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Joe. No, Joe, we're taking your call live on air.
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Joe.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
You're part of the business. You curse, we take you out.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
I'm like, Joe, Joe, you know I'm on the air, right.
He go, and he goes, hey, hey, I'm sorry, but
you're on the air, right, can you talk? I'm like, no,
I can't talk.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
You know what we got you? I mean tys you're

if you need to take the call, go ahead, It's go.
Keep your relatives calm.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
This is this is, this is how insane my fam
I'm gonna call he's on the air. I don't care.
I'm gonna call him. I'm I'll no, I'm gonna I'm
gonna call. Uh. Now, here's the thing is that it
is a big night, maybe the biggest night on the
show in the entire twenty six year life of Alex Tyshert.
(02:31):
Big night for him tonight because, as you know, Wednesday night,
we were talking about picking the Thursday night game with
the the Eagles and the Giants, and you know, you
and I both said Eagles, Eagles, Eagles. He goes, JJ, No,
Giant's gonna win this by two touchdowns. I go, that's
not happening. He goes, if they win, I get my
own segment on the air, and I said, sure, thinking
(02:52):
that's not gonna happen. Well it happened. So now later
on tonight, Alex Tyshert gets his own segment of the
show to do whatever he wants. The only rules I've
given him, and I don't think I'm missing anything, was uh,
you can't curse, and you can't try to sell something
and some kind of pyramid scheme. I think I'm okay
with those two. I don't know if there's any other rules,
but I feel okay with that right now.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Uh, incantations to the Dark Lord are probably not advisable.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Oh oh, well, yeah, Do I really need to say
that the mysticism and stuff?
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Yeah, I mean no, I don't know. Hey, hey, uh shaye,
you're going into the shallow oceans. I mean you have
no idea what's coming out? He may speak another language,
We have no idea.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Wait, hang on, Shae, who's in for Frostburg tonight?
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Shake?
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Can you hop on the micro fast? I'm right here. Okay,
is ty Shirt drawing a pentagram on the floor and
putting candles at all the points? I'm actually holding him down,
so we can't do that.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Oh okay, good Man.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Said, I'm gonna take.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
The physical challenge because I can see Tysher doing that,
just getting some spray paint. What do you doing?
Speaker 4 (03:53):
No?
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Not but nothing way, why are you doing well? I
don't understand. Wait a bit, Wait a minute, what happened?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
What's he stuck in six hundred sixty six candles today?
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Actually?
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Oh okay, splashing ocean water all over the place and
creating a little environment for himself.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
It's got a king pool. He is going to get
his own segment later on, much later later on in
the show tonight is that our five?
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah? Well, and I assume it's going to be he's
got plant based hot takes.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
So is that where we ended up?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Okay, I think I think that's where he a plant
based hot takes. I mean, I don't know, because, like
I said, I made a bad deal. I didn't get
anything in return if the if the the Eagles did win.
So but again, I made a bad deal. It's my fault.
But Tysher gets his own segment tonight.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
It happens, Well, you get no Laurel crown for outrunning
a burrow. So here we you know, you had to
go out on the edge, and now we'll see what happens.
Enty Shirt's a smart man. I'm sure he's gonna wow
us with some brilliance. I'm sure he's got some imaging prepared,
maybe a couple of songs. Maybe he's got an original
song that's been constructed. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
I'm gonna give you this Laurel and Hardy handshake. Right.
So again we're going to the tenth inning. Detroit n
Seattle tied it to a piece. Again, winner goes on,
a loser goes home. The intensity. I don't think any
fans have sat down in the crowd since the fifth inning.
I really since their first run, since the Mariner's first
run of the game. I don't think fans have sat down.
(05:21):
It's at an incredible atmosphere right now.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
And right now it's baseball as intended. No ghost runners
like that. So here the tenth.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
We'll have more on this game. I mean, unless my
family calls it, get on the I mean I I
don't know, it could happen that way. But it is
a big football Friday weekend. And how about a couple
of potential upsets to talk about. Oh now we had
we started out positivity Friday. Last Hour bringing you Joe Flacco,
who spoke to the media today in advance of his
(05:54):
first game starting quarterback for the Bengals against the Packers
on Sunday, and he gave a great quote that he
was asked why he keeps playing, and he says, because
I want to look back at my life when I'm fifty,
which is in a month, and say that I gave
all I had. I love that punchline. I was just
gonna keep running that into the ground.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Yeah, no, it's good.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
I'm gonna want to say I gave it all I had,
which is which is a great lesson. Hey, when you're
doing something you love, you give it all because when
you're done, you're not gonna get to go back to it, right,
like you can retire and go back and play. You
make sure you are done so in life, whether it's
something personal, professional, make sure you are done right. Make
sure you're done hey, Jayce, think about.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Our business right? I mean now people hop from city
to city. It's the Harry Chapin Classic Wold where you
just keep going trying to find that next spot in
a lineup because you don't want to let it go.
I mean, we just commemorated what was it nine years
ago that Vin Scully walked away? Yeah, I mean that
look out how far he went, and so many others
(06:52):
Uker and and and you that that we're not going anywhere.
I'm not leaving.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, I mean really, it's it's a it's a great
moment for Flacco. And I'll tell you what. The fact
they're throwing him in as fast as they are tells
me two things. Number One, no matter what they said,
you know how much they said, we can't put Jake
Browning out there again at all. Ever, we can't do it.
We can't have three points through the first three quarters
of our last three game. We can't do it. But
(07:20):
putting Flacco out there right away, I'm I'm going. I'm
going on the belief that, yes, they're desperate, but they
have a gut feel that Flacco's got a little bit
of special sauce ready, and I agree. I think it's
gonna be a big debut for him. I think he
goes for two point fifty in a couple of touchdowns.
(07:41):
He's gonna throw a ton. We've seen this from Flacco before, right,
we saw it a couple of years ago in Cleveland.
Now he's got weapons, man, He's got weapons. He's got
two great wide receiver, He's got a terrific running back.
He's got some weapons. Man. Cincinnati is desperate, and I
have seen the Packers play to the level of competition
(08:02):
before they lost to Flacco earlier this year. Now Flaco's
on a team with better offensive weapons coming off of
bye week, I can see Green Bay coming out slow
and Cincinnati winning a shootout as they are re energized.
I love the over in this and I will take
the Bengals on the field to win this game. Points
(08:22):
are great, That's all I said. I will take the
Bengals on the field to win this game because I've
seen this act from the Packers before, and this is
Flaco shows Hey, it's going to be just like it
was a couple of years ago when he shows up
off his couch and what is he doing? How is
he doing this? He does it opening game for the Bengals.
Watch Ooh.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
I like this. I like the chaos. When we're talking
about a fourteen point spread. Forty four and a half
is the over if you want to bet him out right,
plus seven to seventy five Smith, there you go. You
can make a big splash here. I'll definitely take them
plus the fourteen. That offensive line no good, But I'm
still not convinced that the Packers pass rushes all that. Hi, Mike,
(09:06):
So see coming out of the bye week what they're
able to put forward, But certainly for Flacco and coming
upon him, get the ball out. But you have all
these playmakers that you're trying to get back involved. T Higgins.
He gets out of the off balls this week. Chase
Brown one of the fantasy darlings coming into the year
with great expectations. Unfortunately, Burrow goes down and everything's torn asunder.
(09:27):
On the Packers side, Jordan Love getting to do one
of those great distributor kind of mechanisms that we talk about.
You don't have to an obvious number one. We'll see
if Dobbs becomes that guy before their bye week he
had that three touchdown game. Perhaps he's going to rise
up and become that player, maybe more golden. I think
(09:50):
it's a lot on the legs of Josh Jacobs to
get this thing started, which means they try to grind
it out a little bit and run some clock. But
when it's all said on Joe Flacco, I mean, at
this point in his career, he's got no conscious I mean,
you heard the man. I'm just gonna keep going. I
worked hard for this, damn it. My shoulders ready to go.
So plus fourteen, I'm trying. I'm trying to find some
(10:12):
of the uh uh, let's see, what have we got
to record two or more passing touchdowns plus two seventy
five to get the hat trick ten to one.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
I'm telling you he's a great fit for this offense.
It's gonna be long balls, it's gonna be Jamar Chase going.
This is what I've been missing for the past three weeks.
Doesn't matter that it's on the road.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
He is a great fit for what the Bengals want
to do. Chase Brown will have a big game. Look
all all the weapons. It's a re energizing moment for
the Bengals in this game. How many yards did you say?
I said two fifty and two touchdowns for Joe Flacco.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Two point fifty plus gives you plus two twenty Woo.
I like, you want to go to two seventy five
seventy seventy five? Why plus three seventy five?
Speaker 1 (10:56):
You know what, give me three hundred and seventy five
yards and five touchdown? Wow?
Speaker 4 (11:00):
If you go, if you go over three hundred and
twenty five passing yards, you're at eleven to one.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Now I feel pretty good with two fifty and two touchdowns.
I feel pretty good with that two fifty two touchdowns
with Joe Flacca. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Look at this, Look
at this.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Joe Flacco is elite once again.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Upset number two. I kind of sort of like Dylan
Gabriel and what he showed last week. He kind of
reminds me a little bit, maybe because I just have
this this affinity because the last great era for the
Jets is when Chad Pennington was the quarterback. But he
kind of has a lot of Chad Pennington in him.
Where he's smart, he's a leader boy. His arm strength
(11:42):
is questionable, but he still knows where to go with
the football, finds a way to get it there. The
sum of what Dylan Gabriel is is greater than his
individual parts. We knew that coming out of Oregon, and
we saw at all that and I was surprised that
he played as well as he did last week. And
again he's going to be impressive, but this time in
a low scoring win. I love the under on this.
(12:03):
But Cleveland's defense is gonna give the Steelers offense trouble. Right,
Jalen Warren's back after missing a week, but still it's
not like he's been lighting it up. It's not like
all of a sudden Aaron Rodgers has found the fountain
of youth. The Browns defense is terrific, it is top
of the league, terrific, and the Steelers offense is older
and it's slow. Cleveland is already better offensively the last
(12:26):
week with their quarterback change. Moving on to Dylan Gabriel
because they needed to make that kind of move. And
I'll give you this bold fantasy prediction as well. Judkins
goes for over one hundred yards on twenty five plus carries,
they win it thirteen to ten. So give me the
Browns the win and the under look at you.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
I'm a big fan of what Judkins brings you to
the field and what he's shown them the last couple
of weeks because he's also making plays as a receiver
out of the backfield, which is key because Dylan Gabriel
can't complete a ball beyond ten yards. That was Chad Pennington, bad, bad,
bad last week, but effective for a good chunk and
(13:05):
it kept the Flores defense at bay until well the
end of the game. And that was great play by
Carson Wentz to find Jordan Edison to finish that game
off absolute chaos in that I like the plus six
for sure. Thirty eight and a half is the total.
The grinded out opportunity and look, Aaron Rodgers, no great
(13:27):
shakes on the other side. We've seen him both from
a regular and fantasy purpose of week one was the
big splash and then it's kind of a grinded out
kind of squad here. So yeah, it's a battle of heavyweights,
low scoring game, field goal kicking contest. When it's all
said and done, I'll take Pittsburgh to take the win
(13:47):
out of the bye week because Tomblin just doesn't lose
in those circumstances. But Cleveland's certainly up to the task.
And this goes into the wire.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
And now do you like the under like me?
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Or you? Oh?
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (13:58):
No?
Speaker 1 (13:58):
The under?
Speaker 4 (13:59):
Cash is easy, okay, unless something really crazy happens, like
we get a defensive touchdown. All right, maybe maybe that's
how it goes over. But these offenses, no, it's this
game's played between the twenties.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
What if they what if they put the over under
at thirty? I think I still would take the under
because I got oh sixteen thirteen. Yeah, no, no, no, no,
I'm taking the under man, I'll take the under it that.
I like that. Wow, at thirty if you if.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
You put it, let me see if I can tease
that down.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
What does that do for? Okay? Okay, thirty is a
tough thirty seven. But if you put it at thirty
one and a half, okay, because that because that that
you get to be seventeen fourteen, I can win. I'll
still take the under thirty one and a half. I
would still take the under on it bow. That is
frightening A let's see.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Yeah, no, I got I gotta, I gotta figure out
what the math is. But saying you go under thirty
and a half, that is rarefied error right there.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Exit out about a fresh the exit swollen down the
Jason Smith Show with my best Fred Mike.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
That's Kramer refusing to take the car back off the
test drive and sorry to see you can break the
needle off.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
We got more football on the way coming up next.
NFL insider Jason cole joins US preview all the big
storylines in the NFL this weekend. Quick update from Major
League Baseball. Getting tight for the Tigers. Runner at second,
one out, bottom of the tenth inning, a Rosa Raina,
the playoff hero that he's been throughout much of his life,
(15:37):
taking on Melton. Melton gives up a leadoff double, gets
a pop up to second, So high drama happening right
now in Seattle. Again to to two, bottom of the
tenth inning, one out, game five, win or go home,
keep it right here. Jason and Mike you're listening to
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:54):

Wherever you beet your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Playoff Kerry Carpenter maybe better than playoff. Derek Jeter now
four for four tonight with a single. He goes to
(16:54):
second on a wild borrow. I goes a second on
a pass ball, and the Tigers now have the go
ahead run at second with one out. After getting out
of a runner at second, nobody out Jam in the
bottom of the tenth inning, Melton gets out of it
after it looked like it was absolute disaster giving up
the double, Who man go ahead?
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Has Crawford ever bunted? Because why we made out? Like
the bunt in most situations when you can end a
series potentially by you know, get them on, get him over,
get him in, I'm not imposed to it.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
So no bunt, but no runs. And meanwhile, now Detroit
and Seattle to to top of the eleventh and intentional
walk has put runners at first and second with one out,
and that pass ball that put the go ahead run
at second, that is the first past ball of the
season for cal Riley, the first pass ball. It looked
(17:52):
like it was one of those like a back door
slider that you know doesn't doesn't break across the plate
and you kind of have to reach back for a
little bit, and it bounced off his glove, and it
looked like he thought he had it, Like it looked
like he says, okay, he's got it. And then all
of a sudden and you see the ball skip away,
and I'm like, why is he not running after it?
Like you said, It's like, oh, now I see it,
Like if if if Carpenter was really on his horse.
He might have been able to get the third, but
(18:14):
he gets to second, and now the Tigers first and
second one out. Torkal Sen up zero for four and
the Tigers could potentially break it open. Put the go
ahead run out here in the top of the eleventh thinning.
Does that take away his platinum status? I think it does,
like you did, was it many Miles?
Speaker 4 (18:31):
I mean he had a great throwout of a would
be based Steeler earlier, but I mean, you know, balancing
in the force here.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
So we'll have more baseball on the way again to
too top of the eleventh inning. But it is time
to break down the weekend in the National Football League,
and there is nobody better to do it with than
our next guest. He is a long time friend of
the show. I mean may maybe too long, but long
time friend of the show. He is on Twitter at
(19:00):
Jason Cole sixty two. That is at Jason Cole sixty two.
Of course he is a haul of very good voter
and check him out to the thirty third team. So
many things to get to with Jason Coles coming up
with us in a second, and I mean it, Mike,
you look at this weekend in the NFL, and with
all the quarterback situations. Look, we talked about Dylan Gabriel
a few minutes ago, we talked about Joe Flacco once again.
(19:24):
Lamar Jackson has ruled out. The Ravens are gonna have
to roll with Cooper ruts again. And it's just this
season for the Ravens that looked like it was Super
Bowl or busting. They're the overwhelming favorites and the greatest
Ravens roster we've ever seen. You could put all the
other Ravens players from the previous history, going back to
Baltimore when they were the Cults, and it wouldn't be
(19:45):
as good as this roster. And here go the Baltimore
Ravens who could sit back when we're looking at them
on Monday morning. Go man. The Ravens are one and
five and last places in the AFZ North seven and
a half point dogs home. Look out, Jason call joins
us right now. Jay Colton, no, Lamar Jackson, will you
(20:06):
play quarterback for the Ravens on Sunday?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
I turned down the offer.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Mmmm, okay, good move.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Ronnie Stanley's not there.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
But yeah. Harbaugh called me earlier this week and we discussed,
we really went through it, and I just felt like,
now it wasn't the time.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Or the place, your selfish bastard.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Okay, nicely done, ty shirt.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
I'm sorry. There's a there's a there's a time I
could come out and from from behind the microphone and
behind the pen and take over. But now it's not
the time. I'm sorry. So it's not the time.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Yeah, there was, there was. There was a moment in
history when that.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Was you say that, And I think of that scene
from the end of Wayne's World when Ta Career performs
and Frankie Sharp shows up and says, although you're really
talented and beautiful, it's just not the right time. I'm sorry,
and he walks away.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
That was not the right time for a sex. Rock
and Roll's just the right time.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
I need JA called. This is I mean, this is
you talk about hard times the Ravens man, this is
just unreal for them.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Yeah, they're going through I mean, this is ugly, but
you know, so much of this is self induced. And
I don't understand why, John Harbor again, I don't understand
the whole Yeah, I don't understand the defense period, Like
what what I don't understand anything about it in terms
(21:54):
of what they're trying to accomplish with it. And this
this is like such a foundational thing. Like it's beyond
the injury to Lamar, which is I'm always going to
hamper a team that was a franchise guy. I mean,
these are the things that happened, but like they played
like they weren't ready for this season four games and
(22:16):
I'm like, did you guys know that you were playing
or did you think that the preseason was just going
to last for like, you know, a quarter a full
quarter of the season. So, I mean, it's just I'm
so troubled by this team because it's so against everything
that John Harbut stands for in the way that he
(22:37):
coaches that it's I mean, I'm just baffled. I'm completely
and totally baffled by this Ravens team and how they are.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Well I mean wait, because you know, obviously he's had
to step in for his offensive coordinat defensive coordinator. But
I got to be honest, Ja Cole, if this is
a bad season and this is is one of those
really you know, a five and twelve seas he that
gets away from them, I don't know that he's back
next year. I mean, this was Hey, we had a
lot of expectation this year, and he's the one comment.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
I think he's earned. I think he's earned a whole
lot of latitude, and he's learned a lot, He's earned
a lot of rope, and I think the Bishadi believes inconsistency. Now.
Bashadi is the kind of guy who's he's really interesting.
We talked to Bashadi. He has very interesting takes on
(23:33):
how people think and how they react, and he listens
very carefully to people. So you might be right in
that he might sense that Harbaugh has lost his edge.
And I'm not saying that he has. I don't know that.
I'm not around that team enough every day, I talk
to enough people. I don't have that. I don't have
the day to day history of Harbor like that. But shot,
(24:00):
he is a guy who's he has his finger on
the pulse in a very interesting way, unlike a lot
of owners because he's not there every single day. But
if you want to talk about somebody who is an
active listener and who comes to conclusions very quickly about
the people who work for him, but but does prefer stability,
(24:22):
he prefers stability over just about anything. Steve Bushatti is
one of the smartest, most intuitive, and sharpest owners I've
ever met in my life. And that guy will do
what he will. He will not hesitate to make a
move and do it definitively. So I'm not saying it's impossible.
(24:44):
I would just think that Harbuzz earned a certain amount
of a certain amount of latitudes.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
All right, let's stay in the general region I'll do.
You choose your own adventure. You could either go with
the floating dumpster fire right now, that is the Philadelphia Eagles,
or the feel good story of the young or not
and whatever we want to nickname Jackson.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Dart, Well, what am I doing? Am I playing to
win a championship? Or am I playing because I'd like
to see more pictures of Jackson's mom? I mean, what
are we trying to.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
See? This is the kind of analysis you get on
thirty thirteen you don't get in a lot of places.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
Didn't I didn't think we'd get the mom in there.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
You go, yeah, they're hanging out. I mean as Zach
Wilson's mom flopped. I mean, so we got to have
Jackson Dart here. We look, the Eagles are just bored
because they they beat up all the teams that they
felt like they needed to beat up in the first
you know, four games. The victory against Tampa was just
(25:46):
such an example of how they play. It's like they
dominate the first half and then they get sloppy. They're
a board team. And one of the biggest problems that
the Eagles have is that their best defensive player and
probably the most talented player period, the guy that everybody
kind of looks to and says, you know, set the tone,
(26:07):
Jalen Carter is not a guy who knows how to
set the tone. He's not a very mature guy. And
they don't have the Jason Kelsey's and the Fletcher Coxes
around anymore to keep him in line and keep the
glare away from him. So there's more glare on him
than there's ever been before. And it's on top of
(26:27):
the fact that Jalen hurts rubs the guys the wrong
way on that team. You know, you have the tension
with aj Brown, all these other things that are going on.
The offensive line is obviously really beating up. But just
like I think that they know that they're really good
and they feel like we can turn this on any time,
(26:48):
and I think that that's true. I just worry that
this is not a mature enough team that knows like
when you really have to snap into place and that
you really got to take care of business. And yesterday
was a really bad loss. From that standpoint, it was
a great loss. It was a great loss if we're
(27:09):
talking about Jackson Dart's mom, it's a bad loss. If
we're talking about either the Eagles or Brian Daball having
any respect for like the basic rules, like if a
guys has a concussion, they're pretty much leave that one alone.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
He really doesn't like Russell Wilson anywhere near his field anymore.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
No, No, oh my god, now, I mean, yeah, Russell
free Like just who's had a worse end of their career,
Russell Wilson or Donovan McNabb.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Oh wow, that's right. See. The thing is, I still
think Russell Wilson because you know, you know, other quarterbacks
are going to get hurt. I think there's a parachute
out there for him somewhere at some point. But you know,
but boy, I just can't see it ending with him
on the side like I could, like I can't see
him in December with the big puffy coat on, hands
(28:05):
in his you know, the hand in the hand warmers,
just standing there going Russell Wilson who hasn't seen the
field in eleven weeks. Like, I just can't see that
being how it ends for Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
I don't think so either. But I also thought there
was a point of time there. Excuse me, I thought
that Donovan McNabb, excuse me, there, Donovan McNab was on
his way to a Hall of Fame career, and and
then it just it was a melt dance.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
It was a.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Complete under melt dance, right, And I thought there was
something really great there. And I thought, Russell Wilson, Okay,
this is a Hall of Fame career, and based on
what's happened here the last four years, I'm like, dude, wow,
I'm not really I'm not feeling it anymore. Like you
can play your way out of consideration for the Hall
(29:02):
of Fame, and those two, those two guys are going there.
One certain one certainly did it. I can say that definitively.
Donald mc McNabb played his way out of Hall of
Fame consideration. Russell Wilson is kind of hanging on by
a forret.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. That's at
Jason Cole sixty two, thirty thirteen Pro Football Hall of
Very Good.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Oh we got great.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
This is great as always, buddy, Thanks so much. We'll
talk to you next week, every great weekend.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Later on the enjoy the games, brother, Sam. Wow.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Yeah, I'll tell you the the end of Yeah you
forget the end of Donovan Knapp's career was really rough, man.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
It was I really thought he was saying he'd already
taken the poll, and Russell Wilson ain't getting in.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I've already had it.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
It's not going on and it's not going in his direction.
Speaker 1 (30:00):

of sports. But guy's been called the aj Hinch of
Fox Sports Radio. Do you dare because after the show
tonight a lot of people are gonna want to ask
him some questions.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
It's Steve to say, I've never been suspended from my
job for cheating.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Just for the record, there you go.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
I'm just gone out running for office.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
He's steep to say, I'm just going to taking school
out of the game. I don't want to go all
the way back to the What a ballgame?
Speaker 5 (30:52):
This has been tonight games awesome best of five Ale
Division series on Fox TV. Detroit tied at Seattle to
two with two outs in the bottom of the eleventh inning.
You mentioned Kerry Carpenter leading off in the Detroit order.
Tonight has been their offense four for four with a walk,
the long ball for Detroit. Stat Zinc says, who's the
(31:13):
only other player, well at least the last player in
a winner take all postseason game to reach base five
times including a home run? The answer Babe Ruth. In
Game seven of the nineteen twenty six World Series. I
would add that Babe Bruce team lost Game seven of
the nineteen twenty six World Series because he was caught
(31:35):
stealing for the final out, which is the only time
a World Series has ended on a caught stealing. But
aside from the leadoff man Carpenter, the Detroit Tigers lineup
tonight is one for thirty three with twelve strikeouts. But
they're even two two at Seattle because as soon as
the Mariners brought a lefty reliever in to face Carpenter
(31:57):
in the top of the six, he hit a two
run home. That's the offense. Now Seattle did answer with
a two run pinch single bottom of the seventh, and
now it's two to two. In the bottom of the eleventh,
Josh Naylor is up. He had one of the key
moments in the game. He scored the first run on
a sack fly in the second inning off Trek Scooble.
He was only at third base because after his double,
(32:18):
he stole third. Josh Naylor, not exactly the most spelt
of ball players, stole third and scored on a sack fly.
That's why we're here. Naylor with three hits so far
in tonight's game two to two, bottom of the eleventh.
The ALCS starts this Sunday night on Fox TV from Toronto.
In college football, three games tonight a win for number
(32:40):
twenty four South Florida, dominating the second half at North
Texas sixty three to thirty six. The final at Colorado State,
the Rams at one and four dominated the first half.
They're up thirty five twenty one over Fresno State. Now
late in the third third quarter on FS one, Washington
leads Rutgers twenty four to nineteen. The Ravens quarterback Lamar
Jackson will miss a second straight game with his bad hamstring.
(33:02):
Baltimore at one in four hosts the Rams on Sunday.
Forty nine Ers quarterback brock Perty will miss a second
straight game with his toe injury, and the backup QB
there Mac Jones is listed as questionable with knee and
oblique injuries. He's been limited in practice. Bucks wide receiver
Chris Godwin is out against San Francisco leg injury, and
forty nine Ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is out with
(33:24):
a knee injury. Updating the baseball to the twelfth inning
at Seattle my goodness, Game five of the best of
five alds still tied at two. The Detroit starter Trek
schoobl by the way six innings, thirteen strikeouts, no walks,
ninety nine pitches this evening. He's had five career postseason starts,
(33:47):
has struck out forty three in those five starts. The
record is forty eight Sandy Kofex in your first five
playoff starts. Of course, asterisk back in Kofax's day or
Bob Gibson. Those were all World Series games.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve, Jason Smith Mike Harmon
live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios will continue to
keep you updated on the tense intensity that's unfolding in Seattle.
But as part of our Big Football Friday coming up next,
we take a look at two of the biggest college
football games tomorrow, one of them involving the best head
(34:21):
coach in college football right now. Wait till I tell
Belichicks that's it. I said best, as I said.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Wow historically or as he played its way out of
that too.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
He's the most successful coach who happens to be coaching
in college football. That's what happens. Wait till we tell
you who that is that's coming up next right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. High drama in Seattle. Tigers have put
the first two runners off one in the top of
the eleventh, first and second. Nobody out. Pitching change happening.
Randy Johnson coming in for the Mariners, so they clearly
(35:11):
not messing around. We're going right to the guys. We
need to to close this thing out.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Put his camera down and now he's ready to go.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
We'll keep you updated there. Bizardo coming in for the
for the Mariners. But again, big football Friday, We're hours
away from a huge kickoff in college football. We got
lots of games between top twenty five teams, Lots of
games that look like they could be playoff elimination games.
One of the big ones Indiana and Oregon. Right now,
(35:43):
here's the thing. I'd love to be able to pick
Indiana right there. Hot. I love Fernando Mendoza. The guy's
a real big playmaker. He's so much fun to watch.
But I gotta tell you this, you know, And we're
gonna talk to Pete Futech coming up in about a
half hour or so, and he says, Hey, this could
wind up being a tough, trapish type game. This could
be difficult for Oregon. But I'll tell you what, Mike,
(36:05):
at this point, right now, I don't think there's a
better head coach in college football than Dan Lanning. I mean,
I know, look, he's got Chad powers fighting guys on
the sideline in punch.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
That was a problem, but I think he handled that
well internally he did.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Outside of that. Really, I don't know anybody that's doing
a better job in college football right now. Oregon is
always detailed, They're always focused. He's got them in the
right place mentally, coming off a bye and being at home,
it's really hard for me to see this upset. Even
though Indiana is a good team right and maybe look,
they might even be better than last year when they
(36:38):
kind of didn't play anybody to get into the playoff.
They might be better, but Oregon really, not only might
they be the best team, Really, I don't know that
there's a better head coach in college football right now
than Dan Lanning.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
Yeah, I mean they went and absolutely bludgeoned Illinois. Talking
to Indiana a couple of weeks ago, that was a
game that we talked about a bunch and wondered, I
was Illinois smoking me. We'll get to them because they're
they got a big spot as well, because they are
still five and one, but that's sixty three to ten,
you know, a lot of eyebrows raised, and then you
(37:10):
you have a rock fight with Iowa that you win,
and then both teams on buys. Like for Oregon regarding
the trap kind of possibility, Uh, if they'd gone straight
into a game no buye you know, maybe on the
road all of those things, then perhaps you see that.
But you're talking about a team that knows what the
(37:30):
what the stakes are here, right, and I don't think
they'll be too gracious a host uh to Indiana coming
into this one.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Yeah, I mean, look, it's it's it has all the
drama and the trappings of hey, how good is O?
But I'm really I mean landing, I've never seen them unprepared.
In just three years, this team went from being hey,
here he comes, can he can he get back to
the salad days where every few years we were a
big time content. Now every year they're a national title contender.
(37:59):
It's what you done in three years to this program.
It really has been something sending guys to the NFL.
He's sending Bo Nicks, who's now one of the great
young quarterbacks in the NFL. Like everything Landing is done
has been absolutely terrific.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
Well you look at you look at Dante Moore, right,
he comes from UCLA. Again, let's let's point fingers over there,
but where he was a Jag fifty three point five
percent completion rate, eleven touchdowns, nine picks in his two
hundred and thirteen attempts. Then he sits behind Dylan Gabriel
and now you look at this year, seventy five percent
(38:32):
completion rate, fourteen touchdowns to one pick. He's just been phenomenal.
You got playmakers on the outside, and the defense is
loaded as well. So yeah, it's a it's a team that,
like like the Indiana side of things, where you say,
are they better than what we'd already seen at a
pretty big, big level.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
The other big game, the big nude kickoff. We got
Ohio State and Illinois, and I know i'd love the thing.
This can be a blip or a trap game for
Ohio State. Two. However, Ohio State's going undefeated with that defense. Again,
I'm not sold how good Ohio State is overall, but
this defense, I mean, look at all the numbers they
(39:15):
might end up being in, Like, hey, what's the best
defense in college football the last decade plus? And we're
gonna say it's this Ohio State defense. I mean, they
are absolutely dominant. Ohio State. Saw what happened to Penn State.
I can't see them coming up and coming up short.
Fourteen and a half is attempting spread. But boy, this
is gonna be a second half blot. We've seen it
(39:36):
happen to Illinois. Ohio State's defense leads the way like
they've done all year, like they're gonna keep doing again.
I think Ohio State goes undefeated all the way through.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
Yeah, and that's the thing with Illinois. You go back
again five and one and the absolute demolition that transpired
at the hands of Indiana. Otherwise, you got a couple
of directional schools, You rolled up some points on the
road at Duke beat USC, and then you faced a
toothless produced squad. So you know you're you're punching up,
(40:07):
you're going up in weight class here to a squad
that can shut it down. I like Altmeyer. I think
he's a pretty good quarterback, but tough spot here.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
So there it is a couple of big college football games.
Will preview the all the games with Pete fu Tech
coming up at about a half hour, but straight ahead
to two bases loaded top of the twelfth inning. More
on the drama in baseball, and we continue our big
NFL picks next Fox
