Hello, Welcome in Side hour two The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon. GID you live from
the tirack dot Com studios tirec dot com.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I'll help you get there.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tiraq dot com is
the way tire buying should be. Oh, we got John
Paul Morosi coming up in twenty minutes. Get his latest
thoughts as we are a little over twenty four hours away.
At thirty six ish hours away from the start of
(00:58):
the regular the real start of the red of the season.
We had to start in you know, we had to
start in Japan for two games and the Cubs are
rowing two. I had been the real start everybody again
ready to start the regulation.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
You know it's my favorite time of year. You know
why because your O and O. The White Sox are
O and O. That's true, because we'll we'll get to
a fun little stat about them in a minute, a
little numbers, fun with numbers. But day baseball, man, I
love April Day baseball. You get up out of a nap.
That's the way life works in the Harmon household. And
(01:31):
you got some early East Coast games getting it on,
and then we're in studio for when the Dodgers are
playing late or watching those five people watch the Angels.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
It'll be great.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Now, let let's start here because I got my Big
Bowl prediction picks for MVP for both leagues.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Oh okay, let's before we get to that.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
I got a question for you because this is the
This is the first time I can remember asking this
question where it's actually where I actually had to think
about it before I made my choice.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
If you if I said to.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
You, if if this was like the movie, this is
like TV show twenty four or some kind of thriller,
We're I had a gun to your head and I said, okay,
you gotta.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Do this or die yes, the Mets will miss the place. Stop.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
We're gonna win ninety games. For going to the playoffs,
I'll see you in the NLCS. If I said to you,
you have to, you have to make a bet to
win the World Series. You can take the Dodgers or
the field, because I would always take the field, and
I still will take the field now. Not change because
so many things have to happen. Number one, if you
(02:35):
take the field, you're guaranteed to have have fifty percent
chance of winning. Right because no matter what somebody not
named the Dodgers making the World Series.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Well to win the World.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Series, okay, taking it from a right, but your two
teams won give two men enter one man.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
It's still one versus twenty nine, you know or whatever
when we actually do the numbers.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, but you're but you're you know, you're guaranteed. And also,
so many things have to happen for a team to
win the World Series. The Dodgers have to navigate injuries,
which which always could be something that comes up because
slumps bad starting pitching, injuries to starting pitching. That that'll
sink you, right if if stuff like that happens, like oh,
hopefully Mookie bets is okay, but my god, the guy's
(03:16):
so thin now, I mean he's hopefully over his stomach. Bob,
you know, he said, yeah, I mean, there's so many
things that can happen to a team. I would never
even think about taking one team over the field, at
least this year when I when I thought about this today,
I said, yeah, make me think a little bit, because
the Dodgers have no weaknesses, right, usually at least the
(03:38):
bullpens wit. Nope, Dodgers got three guys that can close.
Everything is wonderful. But the Dodgers are gonna have starting
pitching injured. Yeah, they got eleven starting pitchers who have
all won Cy Young Awards. Right, that's what they did
over the course of the last year and a half. Like,
there is zero weakness on this team. I'm still taking
the field because it's just too hard of a bet
to say, Okay, well, you never know who can get
hot in a short playoff series. It happened, But the
(04:00):
Dodgers are so overwhelmingly favorites. For the first time, this
is a question that I really had. You got to
think and say, Okay, you're really okay taking the field
over a team that likely is gonna, you know, cruise
really really fun. Maybe cruise all the way to the
championship again.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Yeah, right, now, you can get odds of plus two
hundred for any team from the state of California to
win the World Series.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Ah, the California World Series.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Okay, all right, that's fine. Yeah, so Countciezo.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
By the way, the A's still county down, I'll tell
you that much. He's still playing California yet.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
New York at plus four forty, Pennsylvania, Philly in Pittsburgh
at ten to one, Texas at eleven to one, Ohio
at twenty five to one, Illinois twenty seven to oneh Well,
we don't drag the odds down any further. Missouri at
thirty thirty two, and then Florida at thirty eight. How
(04:56):
about this for the NL West the Dodgers. You'd have
to bet seven hundred dollars to win one hundred dollars.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
I mean, that's easy money. It looks and is seven hundred.
I know that every year.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
We look at teams and say, what could possibly go wrong?
Nothing could go wrong. The Dodgers are built to withstand everything.
They weren't this good last year and they won the
World Series pretty easily, right, The Mets beat him a
couple of games in the NLCS. Why when the Dodgers said, yeah,
it's gonna be our bullpen games, well, okay, yeah, or okay,
we think they can win the other ones. All right,
that's fine. Worried about the Yankees? Nah, why Dare's gonna
(05:31):
throw up on themselves, lazy Yankees. Oh, they win the
World Series in five, I mean, and they're much better
this year. They they all their weaknesses from a year ago.
They were able to shore up deeper starting pitching and
a better bullpen.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
That was it.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
And the bullpen was pretty good in the playoffs last year.
It wasn't as lights out as they have now. To
tell you, guys like Vesia and Banda who can come
in and just you know, eat innings. And Dave Roberts
can have seven relievers pitching a game because he can.
It's like his biggest dream of his managerial career. Seven
guys a night. No one's gonna care. Like the two
biggest things the Dodgers had last year, death that started pitching. No,
(06:07):
we saw those, and now we're just as good starting
pitching top to bottom as anybody else just as good
a bullpen top to bottom as anybody else.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I mean, come on, man.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
So you're making the full argument to bet the Dodgers. No,
I still really want to know everything that could go wrong?
Did They're getting this mysterious voodoo illness out of the
way with Mookie bets before opening day? Scary stuff, man,
But really, he's finally able to hold down some solid food,
becomes a top news I on the local evening news.
(06:37):
What do you got, Frostper?
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Do you want to make money? Guys? Yeah, I want
to make money. You gotta like the Dodgers winning the
World Series and the Mets missing the playoffs. You say,
there's a certainty, here's a lot of money's gonna science. Well,
here's the question science I gave you. Science line.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Do you are you the fourth or fifth pitcher in
the rotation? That comes from producer slash editor slash Dodgers
insider bow Benson.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Oh, I can I can still throw.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
I can come in and throw like seventy maybe not
seventy maybe now I'm my fastballs down to about six.
I can throw about eighty at my height at my peak,
but now probably my fastballs around seventh. No, No, No,
I have a fastball that's not very fast, but I
make up for it.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
By having no movement on it.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
So it's you watch, they're gonna They're gonna sit back
and go what is this guy throwing? One time through
the don't give me two times through the order, forget it,
but one time through the order.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yeah, I'm all good. What did you like Kenny Powers
when he took that guy's eye out. I've got my
pitch back. I've got my pitch back. Uh bow in
the back. It's Craig Robinson in the eye. Yes he did.
He knocked his eye on. Craig Robinson's yelling on the
ground at will Fare.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
You did pretty good show with Craig Robinson when he
was a stickcatcher.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
I'm blanking out. You're blanking in the Kenny Power story.
All right.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
So you've got the Dodgers against the field. Dodgers are
plus two thirty, next favorite the Braves at plus eight fifty,
and then your Mets along with the Phillies at plus
eleven hundred.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Iswon Soto pitching? He is actually he's actually gonna start
game two until mon like I do enjoy that.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
You know your squad is the Sports Illustrated cover, and
there's lots of fun stuff in what they're doing in
terms of ballpark ballpark fun and excitement and food and
everything else. But legitimately you're starting. Rotation is a problem.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
It was a problem going into last year. And to
turn into a huge strength the Mets pitching lab turn
look turns Sean and I into a hey, one year
wonder into a I'm parlaying that into a three year,
seventy five million dollar contract. Luis Areno got seventy million
dollars from the A's to go play baseball.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
The A's had to spend money to get to the floor.
The Mets don't like any money they spent this offseason. Yeah,
but no, I feel great for the guys that collected
those checks, while I feel wonderful for those guys that
made those paydays. Lawrence Butler and company fantastic stuff.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
That was a all right, you're on the squad. What
does it say?
Speaker 4 (09:13):
We gotta get to damn it, keep spending roll some
more off, dude.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
The Mets are fine. They have a lot of innings eaters.
They're gonna get Manya back. Montes will come back and
he coming up Brandon. Fine, Yeah, I'm worried that he says,
I have no problem. I mean, I mean, I mean,
I'm throwing harder than Edwin d has in the spring.
And he says, no, I'll be fine, dude, you're throwing
like ninety miles a or like, what the hell.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Is going on? Do you have any movement? Oh?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, he's got a lot of movement. When the ball
goes out of the park. Boy, that ball moved out
of the park really fast.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Like Lawrence Tyranny was yelling in reservoir dogs.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
You don't need proof when you got in, dude, you
don't need velocity when you got movement.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
So when it comes to MVP, right bull Bridge right here,
But just think about that dodge of the field. You
have to really think about it. That's how overwhelming. This
is the best roster I've seen them a BA ball
team in over thirty years. But that's why it's such
a question.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
The only answer. Okay, Now, but here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
If you're going someone other than show Hey for MVP,
that would be stupid. Okay, but but I'm to say,
but for for the plus Samir, you're missing the point.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Of the exercise.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Okay, uh is you have to go somebody not named
show Hey, because maybe show Hey doesn't have that great
a year, maybe he sits, maybe he is Overwhell, or
maybe the Dodgers lineup is so good show Hey sis.
Because remember, he's got to have a fifty to fifty
kind of season to win the MVP again, right, he
already set the bar really high. But since he's the
(10:36):
overwhelming favorite, let's just say it's the non Otani pick
for MVP. And I'm gonna go a little untraditional, but
you want someone with a storyline coming in, Yes, clearly
Wan Soto has that storyline coming in, But I'm not
going with Wan Soto. I'm gonna give you Paul Skeins
because the attention on him every fifth day is what
(10:57):
it kind of is for show Hey Otani, but maybe
even more so because Otani, you know you're getting him
every day schemes, you know you're getting him once every
fifth day, and the attention on him is through the roof.
And you saw the season he had last year as
a bleep and rookie. Okay, he could have one of
those Jacob de Gram type years, whereas Era dances between
(11:17):
one and one point two five for most of year.
Maybe he starts the year and it's sub one for
the first month or month and a half. If you're
talking about a guy that can take the headlines and
take the storylines, the one guy that can take those way,
yes one Soto can, but you know, Otani will probably
put up better numbers than Sodo because Otani is the
best player in the game, as great as Sodo is.
(11:38):
But the one guy that can take those headlines away
and come and combat against Otani from a completely different perspective, Yes,
Otani dominates as a batter here doing X, Y and Z. Well,
look at what Schemes does as a pitcher. He's my
non Otani pick for MVP.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
I gotta dig it seventy five to one. If you
want to get in on that action.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
That's some sweet action.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Right.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Well, look, you know how you spend your money. I
mean that's if it's a small, small interest, then maybe
it costs you a burrito. Okay, go the burrito for
potentially a stack of them.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Okay, all right, I seventy times big I could for.
Don't make it any bigger than it needs to be,
like twenty six. It's just just a small burrito.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
That's all. It's a big burrito. That's a good.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Questions about pre Son.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Oh yeah, i'd have orange slices at halftimes.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Oh absolutely, there's no question about it. All Right, I'm
gonna go a little deeper down. I'm gonna go to
a man who's on the comeback trail, uh and who
is on none that Atlanta squad.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Acuna Junior is currently at thirty to one.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
If he wins, I'll be so mad at you. I'll
be so mad.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
At ninth, the ninth favorite, behind your guy Lindor at
twenty to one, Acuna Junior at thirty to one, by
Freddie Freeman at thirty five, tied with Marte of Arizona
and Chario and Tario at thirty five to one.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, no, no, I think he's interesting. Yeah. Yeah. The Brewers,
I don't think they're gonna win enough games.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
Noah.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
That's the thing is they they need to they need
to win the division. I don't know that they're quite
there yet. It's I think it's going to be a
step backwards before they take a big step forward. But
uh no, he's terrific player.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Man.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
Since Ron this vein, Let's have a little fought up top. Okay,
so obviously Otani and Soto are your leaders in the clubhouse.
Third on the you know in the bronze slot is
Tatist Junior, followed by Mookie Betts, Bryce Harper, your guy
Elie Dela Cruz. But sandwich between Harper and Dela Cruz.
Kyle Tucker of the Chicago Cubs. Wow, Kyle sucks team
(13:49):
to one.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
I don't win like forty games, I know, I know, Well,
I think that's only done.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
But they don't play the Dodgers forever.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Yeah, but I think they do get to play the
rest of the teams of their division.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Well, I think maybe that was out there because they
want to do something some kind of solid for Tucker
because the guy they traded for him is making the Astros, right,
the guy that you hayes jumping up and making the
Astros good luck, exit up out a Fresca exit swollen dome.

where everybody plays. Joining us now on the hotline for
all the big storylines MLB Network Insider extraordinayor Fox Sports
Radio Insider. He's on Twitter at John Morosi. It is
the Pope, John Paul Morosi. What's happening, man?
Speaker 3 (18:04):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (18:05):
I am outstanding? And while I appreciate my traditional walk
up music here on this opening week, I did smile
that we had some Jimmy Hendrix coming back from break
because my father, who saw a great many amazing rock
and roll shows in Detroit back in the nineteen sixties.
While I have covered the World Series many times, the
(18:27):
one thing that I have not seen that he saw,
and that I am very jealous of him, is that
he saw Jimmy Hendrix play in person and light his
guitar on fire at the Masonic Theater in Detroit. Kids
do not try that at home, but that is something
my father saw with his own two eyes, Jimmy Hendrix
performing on a flaming guitar in Detroit.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
That happened.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Well, you wait until one Soto does that. His first
at bat for the Mets way. Do you see John.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Paul walks out to the plate with a flaming bat,
then you call me immediately, Remember you call my dad.
That is probably the one person that we could get
on the air that could actually be able to accurately
compare mister maroussy. What was more impressive? Was it Jimmy
Hendrix with the flaming guitar or one so with the
(19:15):
flaming bat? Again called GINO will give you a good
recommendation on that one.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
All right, well give us your recommendation on this. We
talked about this top of the hour, and this is
the first time I can remember ever thinking about taking
the team. If you ever said to me, hey, who
would you take to win the World Series? Team A
or the field, I'll always take the field because so
many things have to happen. But this is the first
year because of the Dogs, this is the best lineup
I've seen in baseball in over thirty years on paper,
(19:42):
John Paul top to bottom, line up, starting pitching, relief pitching.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
If I said to.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
You the Dodgers to win the World Series or the field,
and you had to bet on one of those, what
do you think the field?
Speaker 5 (19:54):
The field because the odds. I agree with everything you've
said about the quality the Dodgers, but we have to
remember they were one game away from being knocked out
in four games in the Division Series last year, so
we have to remember that winning the World Series is
very difficult and can be undermined by any number of
(20:17):
pitching situations. And yes, they appear to be the most
prohibitive favorites that we have seen. But I look at
a number of teams in the National League right now
as being legitimate threats. I think there are a few
of them in the National League. East matt Sphilly's Braves
all I believe are legitimate World Series teams. I think
(20:38):
the Braves in particular. I know, Jason, I'm sorry that
I'm not saying your Mets right now, but the Braves
are a team that they had so many injuries and
adversity last year and they still made the playoffs. If
they just have a normal amount of adversity, there's still
a really good team with a Kunya with a healthy strider.
So I've got the Braves being probably the biggest threat
(21:02):
to the to the Dodgers, But I also look at
teams in the Central I love the way that the
Brewers are built. I think the Cubs have a legitimate chance. Again,
the Dodgers still have the best individual chance of anybody
in the National League. I will grant you that, But
what I'm saying is that number is under fifty percent,
(21:22):
and I will take the field.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah, And look, you don't need to be beholden to me.
It's when your former college roommate David Sterns called. You
got to say, hey, just want to let you know
why I didn't.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Pick the Mets. Dave, Hey, Da, let's just want to.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Let you know to understandings, there's a whole reason behind why.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Now you got to answer to him. That's okay, I do.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
And that may be the end of the Sternsy and
the Pope show if he gets hold of this audio
of me saying that his team doesn't have the best
chance of winning of even his own division. But they are.
And in fairness, the Mets have had some pitching injury
issues that they've had to deal with here this spring.
So's that's all very real, and even McNeil too. So
(22:03):
I think injuries in a lot of ways have been
the story of spring. And look for the teams that
are relatively healthy to be those that get off to
the best start.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Well, as we look at that JP, you know, we
talked about the Mets and injuries, and I'm trying to
calm my friend down since they're on the cover of
all sorts of magazines as the team to be the
upstart upset squad here.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
You know, it's all want so to all the time.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
When we look at the Central it's rare that we
see the Cardinals being predicted to be a back end,
bottom feeding kind of squad when we're talking about Pittsburgh
and Milwaukee rising past them.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
Well, it is interesting, and the Cardinals are a team. Yes,
I believe that Arnada will have a better season this year,
but they are a team that I have not heard
really anybody predicting to be a division winner, and I
think that that's honestly appropriate based on where they're pitching.
Is the continued search for what their everyday outfield ought
(23:10):
to be. I am a big fan of Mason Wynn.
I think that they have some younger bats like Alec Burlison,
who I think have a chance to make an impact
on the lineup with more consistent work. Nolan Gorman as well,
but part of the reason that they were looking to
trade Arnato this winter is they wanted to have greater
(23:30):
clarity about who they were going to be as an
everyday club, and I don't think they've gotten there yet.
They may not be quite as bad as some of
the dire projections have them being, but they're not, in
my estimation, a playoff contender candidate in really any scope,
and they've effectively acknowledged as much with some of the
(23:52):
moves that they have made. Very much future focused. So
I think this will be either the Cubs or the
Brewers at the top of the division, and I like
both teams. The Pirates, of course, they've got schemes, but
some tough news there on Jones here where he's going
to begin the year on the il. The Reds I like.
I just don't quite think they have as much as
(24:13):
the Brewers of the Cubs do. And the Cubs, you know,
a tough start obviously facing the Dodgers back to back
losses in Tokyo, but I think once they get settled
in Tucker as a as a really unique free agent
to be I look for the Cubs to have a
very solid year, and from their perspective, I think they
they're probably the greatest beneficiaries right now of of the
(24:35):
Cardinals down cycle.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
John Paul Morose the MLB Network Insider, where it's Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon, lot from the tirerac dot Com studios. All right,
so we go to the American League, John Paul, the
team that you think will be facing the Dodgers Slash
Brave slash Mats in the World Series will be who Boston.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
I've got the Red Sox winning the league. That line
have a really good line and a lot of youth.
And for me, when I make my predictions, not that
they tend to be right all the time, but I
do my best this time here, I am most comfortable
attaching my mind to those teams that have really deep
(25:18):
farm systems and that I believe can add to their
group as the season goes along. The Red Sox have
that the Yankees don't, from what I can tell, at
least not on the same level of the Red Sox.
So the Yankees' depth has already been tested. Of course,
Stanton is on the il Cole has gone for the year.
Soto was a met I think that there's just not
(25:41):
enough of a reliable group for me in terms of
what could impact that club coming up from Triple A.
To feel confident in the Yankees relative to what Boston has.
I actually think Toronto's had a pretty solid spring and
that they are close enough to being a a playoff team.
I think Baltimore's had some injuries the Yankees, as we mentioned,
(26:04):
I've had some injuries the Rays now with McClanahan being
being out for a while, that's a big concern for them.
So I think that Boston, with the minor asterisk of
the issue about what exactly Devers's role is going to be,
that has to be a little bit concerned. But in general,
I do like the way the Red Sox are built,
(26:25):
and with Meyer and with Anthony and some others there
in the minor leagues that they have the ability to
I think if they're in a tight race, that the
deadline really puts some open water between themselves and everybody else.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Now, I'm not going to waste a lot of breath
on the White Sox plus two fifty to win the
AL Central, Well would.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Probably say they're underdogs, is what I would say.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Five hundred to one to win it all, Let's go
to the AL West where are you for the ninth
straight year looking at the boy favorite team, Oh Boys,
to rise up and play some postseason baseball? Is it
all predicated on Julio Rodriguez once again donning that trident
at the end of every game we.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
Have We have some some loyal listeners of the show
who tonight have have tuned in strictly to hear this
portion of our conversation, which is Will MOROSEI picked the
Mariners again, and and much to the dismay of my
brother in law and Seattle and all my friends out there,
the answer is yes, I'm picking them. Let's go, especially
(27:34):
especially my goodness, now that the the Astros have lost
some of their veteran talent and the Rangers have had
some injuries before their rotation. If you thought I was
going to abandon the Mariners now now that that actually
seems logical to predict.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
The division, they could win the division.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Now this is a layoff right now in terms of
how I'm viewing this division. So I think if Julio
has a normal type year for him, which is which
would be an improven over last year. Still love their
pitching with Kirby on the IL and they just signed
(28:12):
cal rally to that extension today or they're finalizing it.
I think he's a really important player for them over
the long term. So for a lot of reasons, I'm
very confident in my pick, more than ever before, which
again is right now sending the wire services completely just
they're scrambling to put this news out on the wires
(28:34):
there in Seattle. The Morosi has picked the Maritors again,
which of course is bad news for the local nine.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
All right, so last pick here, John Paul I said
this earlier this hour, Agree or disagree if I have
to give you a non O Tani pick for NL MVP.
Someone who can combat the Hey who's better from a
completely different aspect Paul Skeins can dominate the headlines, can
dominate the storylines. We pay attention to him every fifth day,
(29:03):
like we watch Otani. It can be doesn't need to
well won so doos having a great year. But is
he as great as Otani from a completely different perspective
schemes versus Otani. He's the guy I can see winning
MVP if he has one of those Degram like years,
which clearly he can because.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
He's just that good.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Interesting. I think that they would have the Pirates would
have to be in the in the hunt for a
playoff Berth for that to become a realistic possibility. I
think the other, the other interesting one would be if
if Tucker in his contract year, vaults the Cubs into
a into a playoff Berth. I could see him being
a legitimate threat. I could see also a Kunya. That's
(29:43):
that's the one thing we have. You know, Akunya is
is an all round talent in a different way than
Otani is. Of course, he's he's a two way threat.
He can steal bases. We have We have not yet
seen Otani and a Kunya at full strength in the
same league, competing for the same award, and that, to
me is the one variable here. So there are players
(30:06):
capable of taking Otani's thunder away, and I would actually
put I would put Akunya and Soto and Tucker all
ahead of schemes in terms of the likelihood of someone
who's not Otani winning that award.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
All right, now, I forgot one more prediction, because you've
been red hot with this over the first weekend. Michigan
wins both games. Michigan Auburn. John Paul in this Sweet
sixteen your final score is.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
So Donaldson finds the way to beat his former team,
Michigan wins but then falls to the Spartans in the
elite age and tom Izzo, who was on fire today
at his media availability for everything I've seen, So tom Izzo,
my fellow Italian uper from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I'm gonna say the nod goes to tom Izzo and
(30:54):
he gets the Spartans back to the final four.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
John palm Rosi must have a dinner in East Lansing.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
He wants to attends on Twitter at John Morosi, that is,
at John Morosi MLB Network. John Paul is always appreciated.
Next time we talk to you, we'll have real live
games to break down.
Speaker 5 (31:09):

also the first day at the NCAA Hockey Tournament. I've

Speaker 6 (31:52):
Let's start with Baseball Show as we have the exhibition
finale complete in Anaheim. The Dodgers, for what it's worth,
beat the the Angels four to one and held them
to one hit this evening. Notable news wise, the Dodger
shortstop Mookie Bets finally returned after an illness, zero for
three at the plate, but says he's fine for Thursday's opener. Monday,
he was finally able to keep some solid food down.
(32:14):
The Mariners did give catcher col Rawley a six year
extension worth over one hundred million dollars. Last season, he
battedges two twenty but had thirty four homers and one
hundred RBIs.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
And the news about the.
Speaker 6 (32:25):
Pirates pitcher Jared Jones is no torn ligaments in the elbow,
no surgery reportedly needed, but he will go six weeks
without throwing. Alfielder Camsmith made the Houston roster less than
a year after being drafted in the first round by
the Cubs. He had about three forty in spring. Reliever
Ryan Johnson makes the Angels roster. He was drafted in
the second round just last summer. He's never pitched in
(32:47):
the miners. Texas outfielder Evan Carter was sent to Triple A.
He batted one fifty four in Spring one eighty eight
last season. The Rangers are confident the shortstop Corey Seger
will play in the Thursday opener after missing these final
three exhibitions with a sore calf. Arizona pitcher Jordan Montgomery
will have Tommy John surgery. Veteran lefty Eraalda Chapman will
start the season as the Red Sox closer. The New
(33:10):
York Giants are giving quarterback Russell Wilson a one year deal.
The Patriots are signing wide receiver Stefan Diggs. Stanford fired
football coach Troy Taylor. NHL overtime win for Winnipeg three
two over Washington. The Winnipeg Jets have clinched a playoffs.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Jets, Yo, Jets have clinched the playoffs. The Jets are
going to the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
I think he heard half of that. What a David
Justin Fields. The Jets are going to the playoffs. There
are two late games in.
Speaker 6 (33:36):
The NBA, late third quarter Thunder leading seventy nine sixty
seven at Sacramento. If the Thunder take this, their record
will be sixty and twelve. Cavaliers holding on eighty four
to seventy eight at Portland late in the third quarter,
wins for Memphis and Houston. Wins for Detroit and Orlando.
The Knicks beat Dallas one twenty eight, one thirteen, Ogan
and Obi thirty five points. Two teammates had triple doubles,
(33:59):
both Anthony Towns and Josh Hart, and Miami defeated Golden State,
holding Jimmy Butler to eleven points one twelve eighty six
the final. And we did, by the way, in the
NIT tournament tonight, we did start the quarterfinals. Chattanooga wins
sixty seven sixty five at Bradley North, Texas wins at
Oklahoma State sixty one fifty nine.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
Back to you, thank you, Steve Oh.

the college basketball postseason that you watch because they have
the games.

the spillover on True TV.

of crazy ass programming on it. So to celebrate, we

the name of a show and a show, and you

or completely made up by me playing right now myself,
Mike Carmen, Steve de Sager, Sir Rokie Susaki Frostburg, Yes, Sir, Mary.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Mack, are you ready?
Speaker 1 (36:24):

Shirley Manson as they travel throughout Europe together. Not Your
Mom's Laverne and Shirley docu reality series following actress Laverne
(36:47):
Cox and Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson as they travel
throughout Europe.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Well, I gotta say first off, the title can potentially
take you down a deep dark hole.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Just go leave it there. I like this conceit.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Actually, I don't think it's a show, but I'd green
light it.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Okay, all right, okay, all right, there we go. Okay, Steve,
I think that's a great mismatched duo. Let's go. Yeah.
I find it to be a good attempt.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
No, really, okay, all right, all right, not not you,
not your parents, Laverne and Shirley Frostburg.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
What you got definitely not a show? Not a show?

Oh my god. Okay, both of you are saying, no,
not your parents, Laverne and Shirley is.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Not a show on your TV.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
But I would watch that, especially if Shirley Manson would
sing like stupid girl or something, or do a song
at the end of every years stupid Girl, darn Darner, Okay.
Snake in the mass Snake in the Mass a reality
show surrounding the day to day operations of Serpentine Springs,

a snake breeder located in man Socket, Massachusetts. Snake in
the Mass a reality show surrounding the day to day
operations of Serpentine Springs, a snake breeder located in man Socket, Massachusetts.
The scary part is that is a real town, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Take my money? Man? It Israel.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
Serpentine Springs come in all right, Harmon's in to Sagre.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
It's a tough one, it is, I could see.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
I'll say no, all right, Frostburg, Man Socket, Yo, a
Mary Mack.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
What do you got? I'm gonna go with you. Snake
in the Mass I like it. I like it. That
is not a show on true TV.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
I thought it was also going to be Snake Handler,
like in the Religious.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
When I was when I was going up, when I
was making this one up, I asked, AI, give me
the name of what a great snake breeder farm would
be and it came up with serpentine springs. So I'm like, yeah,
somebody use serpentine springs. Who says AI is going to
be the doubt fault of the United States of America
in the world serpentine serpentine, Well, serpentine serpentine.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
I like big huts and I cannot lie.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
I like big huts, and I cannot lie a reality
competition show where teams battle to build the best beach
huts made only out of items that naturally exist on
a beach, wood, grass, and sand. I like big huts,
and I cannot lie.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
To watch the music video.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Battle to build the best beach huts made on items
that naturally exist on a beach, wood, grass, and sand.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
I mean there are mountains in that video. There are mountains,
no question in awe.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
Well, now we start saying a little Joe Cocker, wh
I'm gonna say no, But I do love the concept,
all right, Steve.
Speaker 6 (40:05):
Don't think it will work unless the professor from Gilligan's
Island is involved.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
Build the radio, take it off the dam island. We'll
have the we'll have the uh the whatever, the stationary
bicycle to power up the radio and we're gonna they
wound up with the car by the end of that.
Yeah they did, they did. Yeah, And I like that.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
I think what goes over and not appreciate enough is
that the Howls traveled with their money, like they had
suitcases full of money.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
For a three hour tour. Yes, all right, sir, Rokie
Sasaki Frostburg.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Yeah, not a show. Not a show, Okay, we got
to be a show. I like Big Huts and I
cannot lie. Is not a true TV show, not a
true It's a good show though, right you'd watch that
people build.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
You can do a lot of stuff with that.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Oh yeah, sure, I don't know actually, because you can
add an old MTV spring break kind of elements.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
Harry Mac telling me man, true TV sit there going.
That's three good ideas for someone. Call Laverne Cox and
Shirley Manson right now, get him on the phone, right now.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
Let's get that show going.
Speaker 6 (41:09):
But the Big Huts, it's really the best, not the biggest,
would win.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
It depends it's judged. You have people judging. I like
Big Huts and I cannot lie. Maybe bigger is better,
maybe not not always, not always. Coming up next we
got a big story out of the NFL, actually two
big stories, as two big stars have found homes in
the last few hours.
