Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
You want to know how much I'm losing it? You
really want to know how much I'm losing it for
the next you only want to know how about you're
losing it. You were going, you said your going to
the bathroom. You came back like three seconds later, so
you either forgot where you were going. No, no, no,
or you just started hearing someone yell go New York code. Well,
that's in my bat all the way I'm I'm during
the day, my wife says to me, I know I
can tell you nothing because I'm gonna say some of
you're just saying York, New York. Oh yeah, I got it. Uh.

(00:55):
I walked by, I went to the bathroom. I walked
by the We have the big TV screens that that
are outside in the kitchen area, and of course the
s n Y postgame is on, and and it's Knicks
post game, and I look up and of course, you
know it's it's it's the you know, the the analysts
who were talking about the game, the next of the
three to one lead of it. Yeah, and it has
the stats under of what went on, you know, Brunson's

(01:17):
numbers and the cure Bridge's numbers. And I walk by
and I double take because I thought, for sure, I
thought it said shallow May, Shadow May. And I look,
as it's got a record with shallow Dad says, and
I look. Of course it didn't, but somehow I don't.
It looked like it said he's in your head constantly,
because now he's getting as much screen time as old

(01:39):
New York Knicks. Stand by, Spike Lee, how do you
feel if you're like Spike or Ben Slill, You've been
spending all this money buying these tickets, coming to the
game for the better part of thirty years, and here
comes Shallow May, who is you know, the next great
hit out there? And and all of a sudden, yeah, no,
we're showing him in the and the and the and
the Jenners. Yeah, you're you're the ones we show it
every again. Yeah, Ben, that's great. Spike, You're great. But

(02:00):
Challa may Well, I mean they still get their nod
and Tracy Morgan, all those guys. But if you're going
for Q rating and you're trying to draw in the kids,
where you go Spike Lee again?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Right, So I mean all of that to say, you know,
Challow may has also been going to the game for years,
something you and I talk about just got the legend of.
But now you know, the know it all kid that
was always around asking for sneakers and autographs and talking
about the games is now the actor. It's just a
mad world.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
You guys do realize it has nothing to do with
him though, right, showing him because of his sidekick.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, but they would they would show They wouldn't be
showing him, No, they wouldn't show him in the forefront
of the screen. If they were showing he would not
be showing him without his dates, and I think they would.
I think is a big deal because what Mike just said,
He's been going for years, nobody showed him, right, But
now since the Oscars, he has become the A list
actor on the globe since the a him. Now she's

(02:59):
still a big deal. Show him and he's a fig
And both of them were there tonight, right, they were
both there tonight, both both Jennerson was he was sitting
between the two of them. They were still showing him
in the four seven.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
What do you think Stefan by the way, Yeah, yeah,
that's great.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Nobody got hey, Shana may is there. Hey, that's great.
Fun day. They showed Marbury for like a half a second.
Spike Lee I really thought was gonna get a technical
foul because there was one play where Jason Tatum clearly
traveled in the late third quarter and they bailed out
by calling a foul and and you can see that.
You could see the official is talking to Tom Thibodeau
and and Spike Lee. I'm not lying. Spike Lee is

(03:37):
three feet from TIBs on the court and he's yelling
he traveled. He was That was that was getting Peyton's
pitching play right where Mitchell Robinson comes over and it's like,
all right, was there enough contact over in his back
to where he had to move or to where he
gets bumped or did he just shovele his feet because
he was afraid of being landed upon. You know, the

(03:58):
cheatersh proof whatever. But yes, Spike Lee was highly animated.
And look, Rick Petina wore the white suit. That's the
other part. He wore the white suit next to Walt
Tracy and he hugged Patrick Ewing and said, Patrick, I
love what weird. Yes, shout of hey, shtay uh. But
everything coming up Smith tonight, I'm telling you man, Nicks, Mets, Hurricanes. Now,

(04:21):
let me just say this right, We'll have more on
Jason Tatum coming up, and I fans waiting to find
out about his injury situation. But you know, I realize
I'm biased. I realize this, but I can't ignore this anymore.
You see tonight, until Tatum's injury, this was Brunson and Tatum,
back and forth, back and forth. And Brunson scores eighteen
points in the third quarter, and I tweeted out, well,

(04:43):
if Brunson can score every single time he gets the
ball from now till the end of the game, I
think the Nicks will win. And it's almost what he did.
But Michel Bridges hit some shots. He was on a
heater in the fourth quarter. But I'll tell you what, man,
Jalen Brunson has has not just become an All Star,
He's become a top five NBA player. Like I'm saying,
I'm serious now, Like outside of outside of Jokic and Yannis,

(05:07):
I don't know there's another player I want instead of
Jalen Brunson. And I get that I'm biased on it
right now. After this game, obviously I want Brunston, but
I don't know that there's another guy besides Jokic and
Yannis I would want over Jalen Brunson. He and and
you want to argue with Shay Gildas Alexander Okay, but
top five. Jalen Brunson's become a top five NBA player
with the clutch shots he hits. Nobody hits shots like

(05:28):
him a great. Hey, Steph Curry is great. Guess what.
Guess who's got more big shots, more go ahead shots
in the fourth quarter this year than Steph Curry's gotten
his entire career. Jalen Brunson. He finds a way despite
the fact that he is undersized and not fast. I
get it. He's not the typical person you would think
of when you think of best players in the NBA.
He's not a physical freak. He's not someone that can that.

(05:50):
You look at what he does and he's block. He's
throwing up a big block in one end of the
court and running it and ramming home a dunk at
the end. But outside, I'm telling you, Jalen Brunson's become
a top five player in the NBA. You're talking about
the best player on the Knicks. Clearly it was hey Brunson.
Kat No, he's proved I'm the guy ahead of Karl
Anthony Towns. Karl Anthony Towns is a great number two

(06:10):
for the Knicks. But out, I mean, I mean outside
of Giannis who's now thirty, and jokicch who's you know,
still in his late twenties, is still the best player
in the NBA. Outside of those two, I don't know
there's another guy I want on my team ahead of
Jalen Brunson. Again, I get, I get I'm biased, But
what you can't ignore what he's able to do and

(06:31):
how how he's able to control games the way he does. Right,
you can't ignore you knowing that's the thing. Right, you
go through it and you pars it out, You're like,
all right, I want Luca or I want to ask
Ga or I want edwards And then you watch what
Jalen Brunston is able to do. It's unconventional, right, He's
a stout man. A couple of times he almost dared
the Celtics to take the ball from him with a

(06:53):
wild dribble as he spins into the lane, somehow able
to still control it as they swipe over the top.
I think they think he's taller than he is. But
either way, uh oh, he looks so tall when he's
coming at you, but he's right, he's not when But like,
the shot is not a classic looking shot like all
of these things. Uh because a couple of times he
took a shot, he's like, wow, that was terrible to
tak That looked no different than the last one. You like,

(07:14):
what are you yelling about? You thought that was off
because the one he shot before went straight through the
underside of the net. It was the same weird motion.
We can to the last. He can find a way right.
Just to think about Brunson for a second. He's great
at leaning in and causing contact getting the free throw.
N everybody's upset, but he finds a way to do it.

(07:35):
He hits those leaners right. He hits straight up jump
shots and he hits fadeaways like you like. And that's
the thing about the guy is is that when you
can hit shots from all those different directs.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Right.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
We talk about Jason Tatum a lot, right, how Tatum
can come down and just straight up get his shot
better than anybody in the NBA because he's taller than anybody,
the handles he has, I can get a three over anyone.
And then if you send somebody out to me, I'm
gonna blow by you to the hoop. Yes, guys like
Wenby Kenneth three's and Yoki Kenneth three's, but they're not
blowing by guys. They're finding their way to the hoop
eventually because they're not as fast. But Tatum can blow

(08:07):
by you. I can hit that shot. Brunson can hit
them in so many different ways. He can lean, he's
straight up, his fade away, his fadeaways what makes him
such an incredibly effective offensive player because there's no way
you can stop that. If the guy can fade away,
you're gonna foul them if you go after it. So
if you're accurate on those fadeaways, whether it's a three

(08:28):
pointer on a fade away or I get into the
lane and it looks like I'm stuck, but I'm gonna
come back into the fade away. You're fouling him because
you're landing on him if you're going to stop that
fade away. He has so many shots that are that
are almost unstoppable, and you would think at some point, okay,
for an undersized, slower point guard, teams are gonna find
a way to do it. They can't. They can't find

(08:48):
a way where teams have found a way to stop
Steph Curry late in the fourth quarter of games getting
his own shot off or even making a big pass.
They've not found that way with Jalen Brunton. It's not
like they haven't tried. It's like, Okay, here's the best
player on the nick. And I hate hearing go New York,
go New York. I hate hear it. I hate hearing it,
Bud Okay, but we're gonna find a way and they
have not found a way to stop him yet. I mean, really,
you talk about the ascension of him, he's gone in

(09:10):
the last two years from boy really good under the
radar signing. He can be a really big part of
what New York having something going on be the point guard.
Then it was hey, he's potentially their best player too.
He's an allstar. He really, he's a top five player
in the league. Yeah, it's a good thing that it
looks like, sorry, you don't work out for the Mavericks. Yeah, yeah, no,

(09:31):
But look, it's hard to arguing too far down the list, right,
because you're still trying to look at what's ahead. And
with a three to one lead and Tatum likely done,
we'll see, but certainly that does not look promising for
the rest of this series, let alone this calendar year.
As we look at that injury, as he went down

(09:52):
in a heap in the final minutes of that game,
it's the what guys have actually gone and finished the job? Right,
Kevin Durant, you're still putting him up as anybody, But
does he have the surrounding cast to where he's winning
anything substantive? Right, Because that's the other thing here, right.
As good as Brunson is and as you want the

(10:12):
ball in his hands, you saw once again what happens
when the Knicks actually commit to playing defense, and that
was impressive. Right, So maybe down the stretch they're just
well conditioned guys. I don't know. There's still another couple
of rounds of playoffs to go, but not exactly relying
on the bench for much of anything. Once again, for timms,
they live and die. Not quite rhddic light, but bordering

(10:34):
on that in terms of how much effort you're going
to get off your bench. But yeah, so Durant is
still one of those top five guys. But it's a
list of guys, most of which who have won anything. Right,
Edwards hasn't won a ring. Now she is not won anything.
He's gonna win an MVP. But when we're talking about
closing the final deal, yeah, I mean, we put all
those guys into the scramble and then you just decide

(10:56):
which city name for the omelet you like is. Yeah,
I mean when you think about the clutch gene, he
hits everything right. He hits everything right. The reason why
he's the most clutch player in the league, but because
he got an award for it. Yeah, I mean what
about that? This What was the award was it? Did
they steal it out of a car? You know, there's
a clutch. This is like like in this this year,

(11:18):
this year of hacks, Jean Smart you know. Sorry, spoiler,
she gets the late night gig. So she's hosting late
night and they want to boost her ratings, so she
gets the uh uh female like the Female Comedic Achievement
Award whatever. It was a made up award just to
you know, to push your profile up, so it seems
like it's Hey, she gets the you know, the Female

(11:40):
Comedian you know award Like this really do to tip
players in the NBA. Hey, let's make awards for everybody.
Make a here's a clutch Player Award. But okay, I'm
glad it's out there because is it a made up award? Yes,
but it makes everybody realize this is the guy that
hits those shots at the end of games. You can
talk about guys like Edwards and Sga and oh guys
with the ball in the hands the end of the game.
I'll ask you this, if I said to you final

(12:02):
possession of a game, okay, final possession of a game, Kobe,
you could have currently you could have anybody in the
NBA right now you have any better. I don't mean
just in the players, I mean anybody that's an active
player in the league right now. You could have any
player with a final, the final minute of the game,
to have the ball to take your game winning shot.
Who are you taking over, Jalen Brunson. It's like ten people. No,

(12:25):
there's nobody really the answer is here, frost your head.
I would I would have give Pallo Bankol the ball.
You stop that, I got, I got you. I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna I'm gonna give and give you one that
from the bottom of the deck. Who Arique ambawawe? Because
she's gonna put the ball up. I do not have
to worry about that shot going up the volume of shots. Yes,

(12:46):
she may get Fanny five shots in the final minutes. Yeah, okay,
all right, I could be with you on mallin. I
can see what I did there. I zagged don you're
right there. No, you're right. Five shots in the ft
Donovan Mitchell. I'm sure I'm having him take the shot
over Brunson. No, you're not again. I'm going back to
the slim Reaper. I'm getting to rant the ball. Okay,
he's not he's not done. Lucas, Stop Luca, Luca, if

(13:07):
you wanted, we're gonna take a shot. I give it
to Franz Wagner before I give it to Jim. Oh
my god, why why are you? Why are you going
crazy with the with the magic? Nobody's rooting for New
York harder than me this series. He really is the
biggest band I've ever met. He is, he's jumped on,
he has jumped on that then on and uh.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
You can't say he's the greatest closer in the game
and he's the top five player because that's inaccurate.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Why not? I think both those things are accurate. You
want there's nobody else you want taking that with the
ball in the I'd rather have Kate Cunningham to take
a shot. We just send Kate Cunningham home in five games.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
When the Pacers send the next home next round? Are
you still not gonna be able to say what you're saying?

Speaker 1 (13:45):
We're we're gonna sweep the Pacers next Oh no, that's
when mister overrated goes to work. That's gonna be. That's
gonna be four games and see you, Rick Carlisle. We
owe you, man, We owe you for that. No, this's
gonna happen. Matthod's gonna go and he's gonna be fighting.
Oh if there's fights those no, no, no, they will
not go down get into that good night without a fight. No,

(14:08):
you don't think they go down an easy. Don't worry
about that. We're gonna no chance. You want to talk
about a battle. I mean we've seen some physicality, uh,
some low blows and some Let's go to the officials
table to watch this again that series? Are you kidding me?
The pace of play, Rob Manfford's gonna be throwing stuff
in his television. They're gonna be going to the desk

(14:30):
so often. We'll just see in New York. Let's go back,
let's just stay here. Let you know, let's just do
a picture and picture where we leave this up so
we can see what happened real quick though. This game
was on ESPN though, right, so you finally won a
game on ESPN. Yeah, and Scott Foster was there as
the official for your wine, even though everybody was calling
him a cheater. After a couple of calls went against
the knickser, it worked out fine, Everything was good. So

(14:53):
he was just in hiding. Yeah, Well maybe the real
Scott maybe sleep or sell Scott Foster now that well,
they call him the extender for a reason. And now
it's three to one that's when the extender technically does
his best work, right, So you got to wait out.
It's three to one, Okay, now the extender can go
to work. Yeah, you probably don't want to celebrate that
title too much.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
I thought the extender was who Shalamann brought to the game, Shota,
Ben Affleck, John Bernhal the Extender.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
I think Tyscher's just playing last night's episode of the
Last of Us. Oh hell yeah, I think this. I
thought it was the beginning of a pink Floyd song. No,
it's much too Oh, it's much too uh evil and
and and foreboding to be pink Floyd? Did you suddenly
get there? Give it three minutes? The mushrooms are kicking.

(16:21):
You know this is Jason. I hang I'm just waiting
for the mushrooms to kick in. Hang on, you know
this is Jason? Uh? Is this Slayer?

Speaker 2 (16:29):
No?

Speaker 1 (16:30):
This is Tatum's Achilles. Wow. Wow, it's got a band already.
Kyser's gonna get struck by lightning. No, he had a
good run. Tatum made that cool.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
God, it's a lot of movement for a worn down Achilles.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon Close one going
on right now. Minnesota leads Golden State fifty two to
fifty one, two and a half minutes ago before halftime.
But of course, the big result of tonight the New
York Knicks go New York or going lead the Celtics
three to one in their second round series. After a
big win tonight, the Knicks pull away late to win

(17:08):
It won twenty one one thirteen. But of course, the
biggest story out of here is going to be the
health of Jason Tatum and what to expect going forward.
He leaves the game with what looked like a very
serious injury late in the fourth quarter. Here's how it
sounded earlier tonight, when Tatum looked like things might change

(17:31):
for the Celtics, thought they would come back, maybe they're
going to make it close in the end final minutes,
frantic comeback in mode. Annobi filling all passing lanes, creating
havoc and you could see it in the Celtics' faces
with each possession. There were no easy shots to be made,

(17:52):
no easy ball rotation. But for Jason Tatum, you know,
trying to be that one man gang with his forty
two points at the point now to set up the play,
set up to play. It was a offensive possession for
the Celtics, who were down nine and Ogiano Nobi, who
had made a living in the second half of jumping
into passing lanes and breaking up plays. In fact, he
had a he had a turnover earlier in the in

(18:16):
the fourth quarter where he jumped in front, grabbed the
ball and Jalen Brown had to tackle him from getting
up to getting up court with a ball, which was
actually a really terrible fought because that was Brown's fifth
so it changed how he had to play from there
out as well. So Tatum gives the ball up and
he's looking to get it back, and this is what happened.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Taylor brown Back had lost the ball.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Ananobe oh By himself brows it down and Titum is hurt.
Taradim's down. He wants a time out. Tandam is so
much pain, and the Celtics call timeout.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Gret Mike Breen ESPN with the call. And yes, it
was a big You could see the pain on Jason
Tatum's face. It was a non contact injury and it
had the the the big three hallmarks of what make
it look like it could be a serious injury. Now
you've not heard anything. Uh, prayers up for Tatum. Whould look.
One of the best players in the game was having
an incredible game. And anything Tatum would do, Brunton would answer.

(19:13):
Whatever Brunson would do, Tatum would answer. For all of
you who say I like the NBA anymore, Yeah, screw you.
Just watch tonight. The NBA is fine with or without you.
Sixty five years old bottle the other day about the
biggest thing, do do do do do do? Do? Do
you do that? I remember it All too Well. It's
my prom song with it without you still, Matt, I
do that layering when we listen to all Too Well

(19:35):
by Taylor Swift, and you hear that baseline with with
that anyway, do do do do do do? So Tatum
is getting the ball back and andw no Nobi is
jumping in the lane to get it. Tatum tries to
plant on his right foot and step forward to get
the ball, except Tatum just collapses in a heap going

(19:57):
down trying to get it. Now, when you first see
you go, oh, did he get tangled up with Anunobi?
Did something like that happen? No, it was the dreaded
non contact injury. That was the worst part. Second, he
was not able to put any pressure on it. Going
off the court. He was helped off. He was in
a wheelchair. You could see he has hiding his face
in his hands when he knew the camera was on him,

(20:18):
very emotional. And the third part is there was no twist.
It wasn't like, oh, he twisted his ankle a little bit,
or you know, he went down on the side of
his foot, so he had a little bit of an
ankle twist. And maybe it's a tweak and he can
come back and play. This was straight putting my putting
my foot down to plant and he just went down,
was grabbing at his achilles. We don't know that it's

(20:39):
an achilles, you know, maybe it's a calf. Maybe it's
a calf thing, and hopefully that's what it is. Again,
all good thoughts, but it looked really bad non contact
the way things go in Jason Tatum, who knows what
his status is for the next game in the series.
Who knows what his status is going forward for the
Celtics at this point, Joe Mizzoula had no real answers
after just an MRI. Is up next for Jason Tatum

(20:59):
and well hopefully hopefully find out tomorrow what the the
final result of Tatum's injury is. Yeah, as you describe
the play, Brown goes to pass them the ball and
he starts coming back and it at first glance, it
looked like he was caught between the Am I gonna
dive in because I'm probably gonna catch a knee from Ananobe? Right?

(21:20):
That was my first thought, Like he was hesitant to
dive for the ball and try to you know, push
it back to Brown or or corral it and get
a time out or whatever the case was. Uh. And
so it was a hesitancy and then you see it
on second glass like nope, nope, that's that right, and
he lays on the court, uh, doesn't move Ananobe goes down,

(21:40):
gets the bucket uh, and play goes on and then
you get the stoppage uh and eventually him getting help
off the court. But yeah, just just an odd convergence
of events and all of the hallmarks to a catastrophe.
And we've got all the Twitter doctors on that. We
followed guys with the CV and you know they've been

(22:00):
verified and all of those things going through exactly what
you did, going step by step to do the analysis.
Now every one of them ends with the I hope
the tape lies. And as a basketball fan and a
guy who watched Jason Tatum put on one hell of
a show, right, And there's been a lot of talk
about where he ranks and all of those stuff. Day

(22:23):
to day whatever, there are still games like this where
he just goes to work. And we saw it inside
outside number three point shots and it was he versus Brunson,
and eventually the rest of the gang showed up for
a full on brawl, but for Jason Tatum, just a
harrowing moment and one that you know, even in the garden,

(22:44):
it gets quiet when you see something like that. We
have more coming up in ninety seconds, including the return
of Michael Jordan to the NBA. But else, Martin White
has what's trending in the wide world of sports. Ended
up with about eight seconds left in the first half,
done with coming a shooting free throws. He makes the
first one. Fifty nine to fifty five. Comiga and Alexander Walker.

Speaker 5 (23:05):
I'm sorry, Dad McDaniels having a little back and forth
in this game's a little extracurricular activities. But Golden State
with a fifty nine to fifty five lead over at Minnesota.
Golden State being lead and scoring by Buddy Heald, who's
got eleven points. He's two for five from three. Draymond
has eight points. He's also hit two threes. Excuse me,

(23:26):
Minnesota Julius Randall with three three pointers made, already hit
his first two of the game. He's got nineteen had
a big first quarter for Minnesota. In the NHL, the
Vegas Golden Knights and the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton with a
three nothing lead at the nearing the start of the
third period. They also lead the series two games to one.

(23:46):
Earlier tonight, in the NHL, we saw the Carolina Hurricanes
take a three to one series lead over Washington with
a five to two win Seawn.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Walker with the Lake goal there the next yell.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
They beat the Celtics one twenty one to one thirteen,
taking a three one lead in the series. Jalen Brunston
with thirty nine points, twelve assists, five rebounds, hit a
huge third quarter. Jason Tatum suffered a non contact lower
body injury and the fourth quarter did not return to
the game, was carted off and wheeled into the.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Locker room in the back.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
You saw it on the behind the scenes cameras on ESPN.
Joe Missoula is saying, we're just waiting for an MRI.
Anthony Edwards hits a buzzer beating three pointer to cut
the margin. Golden State will go into the half up
to sixty to fifty eight. That is, Edwards is fourteenth
point of the first half. And in the NFL, they

(24:36):
announced the Eagles will host the Bears on Black Friday,
and the University of North Carolina announced that former Bears
PR director Brandon Faber has joined the football program.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
So no news there to help with Bill Belichick and
the PR problem that he's had with him and Jordan
Nudson Bears. What could be wrong? Oh? Nothing, thanks you,
thanks you bunch, Martin. So elsewhere in the NBA today,
big news, Michael Jordan is coming back the NBA on
NBZN going back to NBC this year. Jordan is going

(25:11):
to join NBC in some sort of on air role.
He's going to be a quote contributor to the NBN
NBC broadcast, which it really it's fully taking us back
to the nineties. Now we're all going all the way,
you know, NBN BYD, the BC is coming back, round ball, rockets,

(25:31):
coming back, Jordan is coming back. Oh we need now,
I'm bab. Just have Marv Albert record a whole bunch
of liners and we'll clearly be back in the nineties. Which,
you know what, there should be more nineties nostalgia because
it really is the last, the last great decade, because
I don't think we're going to look back on the
aughts or the teams or this is Hey, what a

(25:51):
great moment, what a great era. We've had the last
twenty five years in the United States, like we've had problems,
We've had issues. You're coming off of nine to eleven
for the aughts, and it's just, you know, the nineties
was Hey, maybe we peaked as a country in as
a world in the nineteen nineties. I don't know, but
there should be more nineties nostalgia. And we're gonna get
it all with Michael Jordan returning in some role. Yeah,

(26:11):
Tesh and the Ai Fagan and and go on down
the line. And now we just need a moderate shot
out there with Michael Jordan. You think we're not gonna
get a modish of course we're gonna get that. There's
gonna be here. Here's what it's gonna do. They bring
Pad O'Brien. He needs to be look at hell, what
they need to do is now to put him on
the table with everybody and being a round him. Okay,

(26:33):
that's great, but no, it's better if like everybody's talking
about again, like you have your your table, like you
know you're inside the NBA whoever you have, and you
have your Shaq and Kenny and everybody else. And Charles
Barkley's just gonna be mad at the ESPN until they
fire him. Uh. You know, you have your table, and
then you have Jordan by himself or with Padd O'Brien
or Matt Gukas with an iPad where he is, where

(26:56):
he is breaking down what has been said on the set,
and he has his own opinion. So that's that's what works.
You have the you have, you have the set, and
then you have Jordan with the iPad in a separate
room by himself talking about Wait, okay, I say that,
yeah here, I took that personally. It's great. That's great.
I do like the fact that you got Maddie Gukas
in there and Mike Frittello. Let's get them all in
seventy eight and eighty one the telestrator, Yes for Tello

(27:20):
at seventy eight and Gucas at eighty one. Undefined role
for Jordan at this point. And I know a lot
of hand ringing. Look, he's done some great things. Was
he a great owner?

Speaker 3 (27:27):
No?

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Great baseball player? No? But all of that, you know,
he's done a lot of great work in the community
and build a great GM No. Right, but how many
of those guys have been right? For every success? There's
nine hundred failures that lined up all the guys that
got into coaching. Uh, virtually all of them failed, right,
the massive superstars. But for Jordan, it'll be curious, right,

(27:52):
is it a monthly feature? Is it a weekly hey,
I do mis gambling pix. Right, it's the uh you know,
it's the car table, the card sharp You're not even
gonna be able to see. It's just gonna be him.
And then they're just gonna pop on a new betting
number so you won't to be able to see him.
It's gonna be all these bill like pop up videos
just gonna be ding ding ding ding ding ding. And
now it's time for aces high with Michael Jordan. I

(28:14):
mean all of those things. He's actually gonna do his
segment from like a blackjack table where he's actually playing
blackjack and giving you his gambling advice hand open hand
slap with Michael Jordan, going back to the homage with
him and Steve Carr, whatever the case may be, Like,
is it just a quick voiceover, is it an interview?
Is it a round table? Is it a hey he

(28:37):
beams in for two minutes at halftime remains to be seen.
But the fact that you get him back into the mix.
Whatever you thought of Brady, the fact that he's around
the game is great manning in Omaha production. Whenever you
get the greats of the game back in in some
capacity as a.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Sport, you won, right.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
And they went all in NBC, Amazon, this this new
pillar that they're trying to build and a new age
for the NBA and this global expansion or whatever. Michael
Jordan's still the most popular thing going. Yeah, right, No
matter what you do, it always cuts through. Whenever it's
the next round of this guy's shoe, what kind of
shoe is it? It's a Jordan. So here we are.

(29:17):
Here's what I am hoping happens to shows up, hoping happened, Yes,
a GOO coach shows up and then Scottie Pippen refuses
to take the last shot. What I'm hoping happens is
this Because you think about how the NBA has not
their biggest star that they have ever had right now,
you can argue, is is Jordan the best player? Is

(29:39):
Lebron better? Does he go back to Oscar Robertson all
the great Well, he's the best player right now. But
in the history of the game, in the history of
the game. Jordan is the most popular superstar they have
ever had, and he basically went from retirement to under
the radar. Right, you think about how the NBA has

(30:00):
grown and tried to grow themselves in the twenty years,
where Michael Jordan basically has been non existent. Yes, yes
he was a team owner, but he was never front
and center. He was never Jerry Jones. He was never
someone who, hey, I can push the league this way,
and I can do He was never that guy. He
was always in the shadows and the league think about
that that the league has had to go forward where

(30:21):
the guy who was the biggest star the game ever
had really gave them nothing. Nothing in retirement nothing. Charles
Barkley's done more for the NBA with his crazy hot
takes that he's had on television for the past thirty years,
and Michael Jordan has. Michael Jordan has not pushed the
conversation at all. He has been very boring in retirement.
He was boring as an owner, boring as a g

(30:41):
a bor He not done anything, and yet the NBA
is still grown without him. Now I'm hoping that, hey,
let's bring him back, and let's bring back the biggest
star that we ever had and will realize, Wow, we've
missed him for the past twenty years, and here he
is at sixty two and he's doing his thing and
people want to watch. And I mean, it would kind
of have to be a round table thing. You kind

(31:03):
of have to be on pre and postgame somehow where
it's gonna be the new inside the NBA. Look, Jordan's
sixty two, he's still young. He's obviously he's still relevant.
He's got a good five or seven years before he's like,
I'm done doing this. But I'm hoping that that's what
it is, where the NBA is able to take advantage
of his popularity because they've not done it twenty years.
Jordan's been a god that hasn't done anything right. Like

(31:24):
Kobe was on that path as well. He left the NBA.
I'm on other things, man, I'm winning Oscars, I'm helping
women's basketball, I got the Mamba Academy. I'm still basketball,
but I'm doing my own thing right. He was on
that path too, and to realize, you know, but for Jordan,
it's like how much you've missed him just not being
part of the NBA conversation for twenty years, yet he

(31:44):
was omni present in every debate, every conversation, every playoff
run was littered with Michael Jordan highlights and references. The
Jumpman logo is the league? Yeah right, I mean period
whatever the logo. Actually, it doesn't matter. It's jump Man.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
And what guys are wearing in the commercials, in everything,
uh and on the the hard hardwood everywhere you go
across this land. So while even even being quiet and
doing whatever he's doing in quasi retirement running you know,
motorsports squads and opening medical centers or whatever else, he's
always in the He's been in the shadows. Now you

(32:26):
just put the spotlight back on him. Can't wait to
see what that first statement is. Other than I'm back.
I'm back. Of course you have to do it, he's
got to say on betch is why I was surprised.
I mean, we just didn't get a two word thing today.
I'm back. It's our three words, and it's shot of
may I'm back. That's what you gotta have. You got
to address him shout to May, I'm back. Does he
start dancing around like Willie Wonka? Now we get Jordan

(32:48):
into a Wonka sketch. Yeah, now we win. Okay, we
could do that scrubs. He pretends the fall, he stands
back up, and.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
He got a good movies.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
I'm going the greatest moves Gene Wilder ever had. Buddy,
that's the show. It's Michael Jordan, Timothy Shallowmy okay.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
There you go right there, boom and you got How
do you know when the nations officially hit a recession?

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Guys? How do you know when Michael Jordan comes back
to work? I need cash, I need cash. Hey, we
figured out that deal with China. There's gonna be no tariffs.
Everything is good now I even figured that out. It's
all good. Jalen Brunson's top five player. He is Eddie's
the most clutched player in the League's he got it

(33:27):
a buddy exception. I'm bringing you back to I'm bringing
you around to everything. Next. Now go New York, Go
New York, go go. And you sold your soul a
thirty thirty pieces of silver man, I never sold Come on, man,
you yelled, go New York. Go on the in the
air coming up next, what team got screwed the most today?
You're gonna say, oh no, no, no, one team got

(33:50):
screwed way more than anybody else. That's next right here,
Jason and well the Bulls because the Pope let him down. Wow,
but that's coming off next right air, Jason and Mike
Fox the Bolls.

you'll find today's show and a best of version posted
right after we get off the air. Now, I asked
you this question a few minutes ago, Mike Harmon, Yes,
you did. What team got screwed more than any other
team today? Well? No, really, if you want to go jazz,
the Bulls got screwed the one picking the draft because

(34:53):
the Pope is a letdown. You can't keep putting that
stuff out there so let down. You could hear it's
been the pope for three days. He couldn't even get
you the number one pick in the draft. Come on, man,
how is all I'm gonna say on behalf of Catholics
everywhere make those jokes about other religious How does how
does he? How does he not walk in with some
sort of you know, when when what is the thing

(35:16):
with the steam comes out of and the pots all
get one of those things and all of a sudden boom,
bulls number one pick in the draft. He's a let down.
He let you down, the incense and all of that. Yeah,
I mean, look, we're a White Sox fan. They have
won since two thousand and five, so we'd be better
off having a pope from Green Bay. Never thought i'd
say that. I'll take your phone call off the air.
I'm serious. I mean, come on, man, gotta be able

(35:36):
to do that. Yeah, when you're struck by lightning, it's
all over. But yeah, fix. I don't think fixing the
bulls odds to get the number one pick is the
most pressing, at least I would hope not. Yeah, but
he's been it's a freebie. He could have done it
early he could have done it early and it would
have been it's almost show you. Now, what's curious is
all the batting lines. And we talked about this a
little bit Thursday, was you know, fifty to sixty to one.

(36:00):
And then you look at the way the papacy had
had kind of changed the number of cardinals that had
been installed in the years prior that that maybe you
could have been you know, if you were really following
the markets, you might have anticipated this shift. Now, despite that,
they're not the team that got screwed the most today.

(36:21):
They didn't move up or down right, no, right where
they're supposed to be, right in the part of the curve.
The Dallas Cowboys God screwed the most today because do
I use Zaggs because the other Dallas teams are both winners,
right the women's lot uber one pick. Because now here's

(36:43):
the thing is that the NFL always wants to have
the team who won the Super Bowl open up at
home to start the next season. Right, they won a
good team, but in theory, it's a team that they
should potentially beat. Right, So now we're gonna give you
handy tails. We're gonna give you the Dallas Cowboys. So

(37:05):
the Cowboys have to show up, watch the Eagles celebrate
a super Bowl and play Opening Night and get killed,
and everybody's gonna get to see in front of thirty
million people. Boy, George Pickens, why did they make that
big third round trade for him? Look out, Georgia. No,
but the Cowboys got come. Now they gotta go Opening
Night and go play Philadelphia, which is the worst team

(37:28):
that you don't want philadelph You want Philadelphia open against
a team that they're gonna take lightly and think that
okay and have a bad effort. Oh no, no, they're
gonna want to go in and validate. They're gonna be
playing the super Bowl again. Opening Night. The Cowboys get
to watch us raise the banner and and and win
the Supero.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
They had to do that.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Yeah, we're gonna beat them forty five nothing, good luck,
Cowboy Cowboys gonscrewed more than anybody else. Well, it's funny,
right because we were talking with Jason locking for earlier
in the show. Podcast will be up when we finished.
You can listen to it all back. But to consolidated,
you know, part of the question when you look at
teams that get front loaded in terms of marquee games

(38:04):
is well, this is as good as it's gonna get.
So until the you know, proof of concept is there
that they're a terrible team, let's shove the big brands
in front of you. And the Cowboys, I think you
would argue, could very well be one of those squads. Right,
They're they're over under, not exactly looking to push to
the great levels. But look, what was that The Thanksgiving

(38:25):
game last year was the highest rated game in the
NFL regular season with the last Like, you were terrible
last year, so people still gonna watch. Hate watching is
a real thing, and it's Thanksgiving and you want to
avoid your family. You you think last year set a
record with just over twenty twenty eight million people watching
Opening Night last year, that's gonna look like a kid

(38:45):
given out candy compared to what the TV ratings for
Eagles Cowboys is going to be Opening Night of the
NFL season. But you go and you look at the
teams that were were eligible. Dan and I Dan Byer
and I on our Sunday show, we did a little
bit of the forecasting. We're all wrong. I thought it
could have been the Rams. It's like, let's just go
right back to the to the well on a game
that was great and start the season off with a bank.

(39:07):
I don't like that that we do the stunt scheduling anyway.
Like the Chiefs Chargers thing just irks me to know
there's a home game now you can only protect two
and there's a lot of other things that go into that.
But it's like people are gonna watch whatever you put
up there. You can put the Jaguars and the Titans
Week one right off, But if you want to open
up and say, hey, we had twenty eight million people
watching last year, more than thirty million watches. Yeah, yeah,

(39:30):
those suckers are gonna be there in it. I do
not know, but they don't want it to be less than. Hey,
we can put this out there and put the Eagles Cowboys.
That'll be the highest rated regular season game. We said,
So Jerry really won d people. He'll be part of
a highly watched team. We were part of that game.
But Jerry, you lost forty five. It's our brand that
brings him to the yard. We were responsible for half
of that. But Jerry, you lost forty five. Nothing, Matt,

(39:53):
I'm not taking that question anymore. We still played sixty
minutes not doing it. Did you see George out there?
He looked good. We get back into the big Is
the NBA story of that night? Coming up next, Jason
and Mike. This is Fox Sports Radio.
