Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, Welcome in side hour to the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
I'm standing up in the studio.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
For over forty years, Tirerac's been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Shipped
fast and free, backed by free Road, has protection with
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac dot Com
is the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Well.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Here we are right now, six and a half to
go in the fourth quarter and the Chargers owning the
Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Thirty four to ten.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Right now, it has been all Chargers from the jump.
It's been all kinds of struggle for the Vikings. We'll
have more in this game. In about fifteen minutes. Carson
Wentz playing with a bad elbow, bad arm. Heard it
earlier in the game, his left arm. He keeps holding
it after every play, so you know he's trying to
play through some kind of pain. But boy, I'll tell
you what two big things out of this number one,

(01:27):
we'll have a big hot take on JJ McCarthy In two.
The guy who would come in for Carson Wentz kind
of looks like Blake Snell. Max Brosburg, b Rex Brosburg
kind of looks like Blake Snell a little bit like, hey,
here he is, well, okay, Los Angeles tonight, fly out
tomorrow start game one for the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Kind of a little like Blake Snell.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
So at this point, why is he not in the game, Well,
he's pitching tomorrow night.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
You don't want to, you know, you want him to
go as long as he can and game up.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Well, I mean, at this point, there's six twenty three left,
you're down twenty four points. He can't hand the ball
off twice and then punt and like coime Ony the
Doll and whoever else.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Wants to after.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
All you need is a touchdown on sidekick, touchdown on sidekick,
touchdown on sidekick, field goal and the game is tied.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I appreciate the Addison touchdown. I mean that did help
one of my fantasy squads. But otherwise, because he's getting
wrecked and every down at this point between who way
and and you know it's it's coming out of the
game now. Really he just got destroyed again. Kevin McCarthy.
You got to understand, man, I mean to be serious
about it now for a second. Is that you're losing

(02:35):
this game. It's over. And you know that he's been
getting drilled the entire game. You're not going to score
twenty four points in the last six guys, what do
you do? What do you what are you doing? I mean,
this is this is just I don't I don't know
what's happening.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Conn will either throw the flag put Vin McCarthy, Kevin o'conn.
That's okay, Kevin McCarthy, go back into your acting and
the shutdown. Let's end the shutdown. Come on, macarthy, get
in there and the shutdown.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
See I was going down down, I was going down
the road of the actor.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Kevin McCarthy. I'll tell you remember him.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
He was in He was an invasion of the body
snatchers and Piranha Gholies three, not.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Goonies, but Goolies. Remember the Goolies.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, that was like coming out yeah,
kind of same thing again.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
It give us your money to go see it inner space.
He was in a lot of stuff, uhf with Michael Legends.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Okay, wow, because you know, I gotta give you the
specificity as to who we're looking at here, right because
you think as a remember of the brat Pack, one
of those no, no, as the older guy, uh legend
and a lot of stuff. But yeah, for for Kevin O'Connell,
like literally, as we're talking about it, why is he
still in the game, he goes back on a seven

(03:53):
step drop and just gets absolutely obliterating.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
You can pick one, right, die got him high?

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Uh and then right at the same time he's getting submarined,
so I just just awful, comes up holding the arm, wincing,
and immediately runs to the sideline. So yeah, they've they've
got a lot of work to do. And again Sam
Darnold is somewhere going well, it wasn't all me, was.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
It, man?

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I mean he look, that's the thing that Carson Wentz
has not played well. Obviously we'll get to the football
part of it coming up in a little bit. But
I mean, really, you want to protect you play it's
I mean, protect you if it's a one score game.
Even it's a two score game, I get, okay, we
could score. Get the ball back. You're down by twenty four, Okay,
you're down by I mean, really, it's a it's a touchdown,

(04:38):
two point conversion on side kick, touchdown, two point conversion
on side kick, touchdown, two point conversion, and then the
game is tied. Yeah, I lost track him in five minutes.
In five minutes, that's right, he's getting hit. I mean,
they have been in the backfield. The Chargers defense has
been in the backfield all night. Right, there's been nothing
that the Vikings have been able to.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Dar us up play.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
The right side of the line has been hurt and
came in without a couple of starters. Right, you're going deep,
just like the Chargers on the other side had been.
Right tonight, they get their offensive line back, and guess what,
big numbers for Herbert, big numbers for the running game.
But yeah, the Wentz leading him in the game was
just unconscionable. Yeah, you gotta you gotta take him out.
I mean and then he left the game after the

(05:19):
last play, holding his arm running off the field, Like,
come on, man, you got you gotta help your players
out a little bit. Man, you just just left him
out there. But also you know he's hurt, you know,
he's everybody sees it. Everybody sees it on the field, right,
But yeah, we look for concussions. How about you looking
so hey man, the guy is in absolute pain, grabbing
his arm after every single play. Why would you leave
him out there to get hit? And the last play

(05:40):
he got absolutely drilled. I think he's crying on the
sideline right now. He's inside, he is, He's crying on
the side, destroyed.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
He's in so much pain. Like, what are you doing? Man?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Like that's that's goaching malpractice. There's your stat raige. Five sacks,
thirteen pressures on thirty two drop backs, forty percent pure
rate from the Chargers tonight. And we've been waiting for it,
the more consistent up front. They went and Mimid trade
for Oway. They get Khalil Mack, who how he's on
a football field again. This is how you understand and

(06:12):
you know, football players are different, not just bigger, faster, stronger,
but the ability to come back and just say okay, yeah,
my arm was twisted four weeks ago into a really
uncomfortable and awkward position that you see in horror movies
where the guy then looks you dead cold in the
eye and twists his arm back into shape before he
starts chasing you. That's essentially what Khalil Mack has done

(06:32):
in the last month, and now he's back to terrorizing quarterbacks.
So yeah, they got a lot of soul searching to
do a lot of shots. ISO on JJ McCarthy on
the sideline, I have no doubt the broadcast booth questioning, okay,
so where is he in this continuum and where you
go for or is it does it become brosmer Ball. Well, now,

(06:53):
speaking of the broadcast booth, they actually talked about this
on Amazon. We have a little bit of it right here,
talking about Carson Wentz being in the game Chargers Rushy.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Carson back to pass throws.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
To the left arm was hit as he threw and
it's incomplete Carson very slow to get up.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
His left arm is a complete disaster.

Speaker 7 (07:11):
I mean, with all due respect, I'm not a doctor, obviously,
but I mean, how many times do we have to
see him hold his arm and win him pain and run.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Off the field by Vikings Radio Network on the club here,
it's obvious to everybody. It's obvious to everybody that that
needs to happen. So again, we'll love more on this
game coming up in a few minutes. Again, thirty four
to ten is the lead right now, just over four
minutes left to go. The Chargers have the football trying
to run some clock here. They look like they're going

(07:41):
to get the w but again, hey, you never know, Hey,
Brossmer could come off the bench and somebody light it up.
Sure now thanks to Todd Furman, who was phenomenal earlier
with us about a half hour ago of our Vegas
Insider with all kinds of great takes on the NBA
gambling scandal, look the biggest story in sports today. Chauncey
Billups who has been temporarily relieved as his job as

(08:02):
an NBA head coach, Chicago splitter uh Terry Rozier who's
been temporary relieved his status as an NBA player, Damon Jones,
former NBA player, and volunteerish assistant coach in the NBA
have all been wrapped up in a very big gambling
sting and ring operation that the FBI has been investigating

(08:24):
and prosecuting over the course of the last year and
a half. We get the story earlier today, that of
the gambling scandal Terry Rozier, who was first looked at
after a game a couple of years ago in which
he left the game early and there was an inordinate
number of amount of money bet on his understats for
the night, where according to reports, he let people know

(08:47):
he was going to be out of the game early
with an injury. He's going to fake an injury, and
so a lot of people went and they bet the
money on his understats, and that came to everybody's attention.
That's part of the investigation. Damon Jones, who was a
voluntar tier assistant ish with the Lakers when Darvin Ham
was the coach, knew Lebron James for a long time.

(09:07):
According to reports, had the inside information that Lebron James
is gonna miss a game that night. Let people know, Hey,
Lebron's missing the game. A lot of money bet against
the Lakers that night, and then you have Chauncey Billups
outside of this, being wrapped up in a poker ring
involving some of the biggest crime families in the country,
in which he helped recruit.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Fish to games.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
You know, people come to games where the Mafia can
these guys can play big stakes poker games and they
can fix them and take all their money. And that's
exactly what happened. Chauncey Phillips was a star player, and
apparently this happens where big athletes and personalities get paid
to come play poker games that are fixed so mafia

(09:48):
and other people can collect a lot of money from
big gamblers. And the way in which the Mafia went
into this situation, with all the electronics and technology using
to fix these games, it's just apps polutely stunning. Now,
we talked about this a little bit last hour, but
you want to know something a little bit different and
and a little bit of a little bit of different
take on this story. I've heard a lot today of

(10:11):
all the tip of the iceberg here comes to God.
This is not that lot. This is not the last
you're hearing about. This first thing I'm gonna say is this.
I kind of think that's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
It for little while.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
If this is the result of year and a half
investigation and it's Chauncey Phillips and Damon Jones and Terry Rozier. Yeah,
I think that it's gonna be a little while before
we hear about some other names, right. I don't think
they're gonna go death by a thousand cuns. You and
you and you, and then now you've got a giant,
you know, cadre of guys put together and you link

(10:44):
it all into a much larger enterprise. And I don't
think you're gonna get drims and drabs Shawshanks style, no
believing they'd love to throw out and have out the
big names and be able to do it if this
is that long an investigation, not that it's not doesn't happen,
but you see the people that are that here that
are doing this, I mean Chauncey Billups's that's a different
story because that's well, wow.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
It's a na.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
And Damon Jones are guys and look at terrors. Here's
got a big contract. I had a ninety four million
dollar contract. But he is like the ninth or tenth
guy off the bench. And great stuff from from Todd
Furman saying, hey, we don't need to be offering prop
bets on the ninth and tenth guys coming off the
bench where it's something like that, offer big prop bets
on the stars. That's what we could do, the sportsbooks
can do to help their way past this, because this

(11:28):
is how it's supposed to go. It's supposed to work
this way, where, hey, when we see improprieties, we let know,
we let the government know, we let people know when
we think things are going on that are and kosher.
And here comes the government and the fact that they
have arrest and they have this big gambling sting shows
you that what's going on legally works. And I think
that was the big point to take because it's been
a lot the hot take nonsense, as always folks that

(11:50):
dabble into businesses and stuff that they really have no
idea how it works. Todd giving you the behind the
scenes about that transparency of information exchange of hey, something
seems a bit out of sorts. Here is I don't
think something that was common knowledge. Now you and I
have been in this a long time. I've known Todd
a long time, and we've talked about these things. As

(12:12):
you know more and more, I guess embracing of gambling
had occurred, and you started to see some of these
deals come to fruition that that you you would find
out and you talk about that kind of information exchange,
but for everybody else to thinking it's like, well, it's
it's still all shadow. It's like no, that's the whole
point is that you have this level of transparency and
we have no idea on the grand scheme Jason, of

(12:35):
how much of a percentage this is right, because generally
on player props, you've got a pretty low.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Limit on a lot of this.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
And this is where when you're talking about the ninth
guy in a rotation, there's games he's suddenly gonna be
a DMP.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Now is because he said his tummy hurt.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
His foot didn't feel right, or just game situation didn't
get him in. But for a minute or two, there's
a lot that can go on. But and that's where
you really into the sticky wicket of it, particularly when
you start seeing heavy money come in.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Right, because if normally you got saying for nice.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Round numbers, ten thousand dollars that come in on a
player for all these props, but then suddenly there's tenfold. Yeah,
something's up. It's pretty clear, right, and somebody knows something.
It's not suddenly a whim of like, hey, that Rosier.
I like the cut of his gym tonight. You know,
he looked he didn't look like he was moving. We
had a full capacity. Let's put a bunch of money

(13:28):
on his unders. No, that's not how it works.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Now.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
The other part of it is this, Right, here's a
big scandal. It's going to rock the NBA. Big changes
are coming. I gotta be honest with you. This is
acceptable fallout for the NBA considering what they hope to
accomplish being partners in gambling. Same thing with the NFL. Right,

(13:52):
there's like we talked about with Bad Bunny doing the
Bring the Halftime performed for the Super Bowl last night.
The NF all knows they're gonna take a lot of
criticism on it because of how polarized we are politically,
but they know, hey, we need to grow the game globally.
We're okay taking the heat from people here on that.
Knowing that Bad Money being one of the biggest international
superstars in the world, that's gonna help us down the road.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Well, that's a win for us. We'll take this.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Like the NBA in the NFL is saying, okay, stories
like this, because no one's gonna go crazy over Terry Rozier,
Damon Jones, and Chauncey billups right like their names in
the NBA, but you know they're not big stars. It's
not fabric of the game. Where Game seven of the
Western Conference Finals went one way because of a gambling scandal,
this is acceptable fall up what we saw today. Yes,

(14:39):
it's a big story today, and it's good that it's
that the government is getting in on this, but what
happened today really in the overall arching scheme of things,
this is the story's gonna be big today into tomorrow
and then we'll be onto something else. By tomorrow night,
it's gonna be the World Series and onto the weekend
in the NFL, because this is not something that fans
are gonna go, oh wow, you are ruining the game

(15:01):
and I'm never gonna watch. Like twenty years ago, this
would have been an incredibly big deal, but now it's like,
oh yeah, like twenty years ago, steroids and baseball is
a big deal. Now, oh yeah, whatever, Like now this
is and this story involving these level of players, and honestly,
when it doesn't involve the stars. It's easier to blow off.
Doesn't make it right, but that's the case. And now this,
this is such a smaller fish kind of situation where

(15:24):
the NBA will say, yeah, we'll take this bad for
the benefits we're gonna get from everything going on with
gambling money and DraftKings, everything else, all the stuff we
have going on. That's our partnership, and that's a big deal.
That's great for both of us, and it's great for
the most part. So we'll take the bad now because
the overarching the rest of the stuff, the long game,

(15:45):
is better for us. Yeah, and this is good, right.
The transparency, as we've talked about and as we did
with Todd, Folks will be able to hear that on
the podcast and hear it again later is good for
everybody to show that the system works right behind the
boards when they when they see something that looks a
little out of whack with the normal betting patterns and

(16:06):
the way money flows, that you've put a flag on
it and you start asking questions, and you get that
information to the conferences, to the teams, to the commissioners
as they exist, and that's just better for everybody. But
you know, you're not going to be able to control
one hundred percent of bets. Again, trying to figure out
what the global market is on a lot a lot

(16:26):
of this you're guessing, right. It's like trying to guess
how many people watched a TV show.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
You can guess. But if fifty people are in a.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Bar here, here, here, and here, and you only counted
them for two or ten, well you're not getting the
full scope of how many people are there, or you've
counted too high whatever based on capacity of a venue.
The point being that all information is good information. Yeah,
you got to wear the egg on your face because
in the moment, it's like, oh, look at this lawlessness.

(16:57):
Everybody in every league is apprized of this, right, whether
it's signage coming in and out.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Of the building. We've talked about this for years.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Just because you have a couple of bad actors doesn't
mean you have to throw the whole thing out.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Right.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
A lot of money has made a lot of the
players make a lot of money, and I guaran damn
t in.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Those locker rooms.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
You've got people that are policing this stuff, right, whenever
there's a story. We've got guys in the NFL Clase
and those guys. What happens that gets shut down immediately,
and that's good for the business. So for Adam Silverwaile,
he's got to wear it today and has to talk
about some of the uncomfortable stuff. He can talk about
the winds as this and be a willing partner, get

(17:36):
that transparency exit out about a Fresca exit swalling down.
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Coming up next, we break down.

Speaker 1 (17:43):

zero for Quenton Johnston but a big win for the
Chargers over the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
The quarterback drama.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
We get into it next right here Jason and Mike

The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon Live from the

They beat the Vikings thirty seven to ten.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Thirty seven in a row.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Nobody better to break it all down with and joining
us right now on the hot Line NFL on Fox
Insider Extraordinary. You can follow him on Twitter at Jay Glazer.
It is Jay Glazer, Jay, what's happening Man? Happy Thursday.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
I appreciate a guy. I always love coming on with guy.
So one thing I think we could hear well, I
deeply plugged once from playing through you know, so many injuries.
He is certainly not one of those guys instead of
the reclamation project that we see that there's a baker.
You know, I don't think he's one of those guys

(19:37):
where your look call man. If he's with Kevin O'Connell,
then he can get the best out of him. He's
not one of those guys. And uh, you know, I
know Kevin needed him to be, but I don't think
that was Carson man. Carson is a little bit different.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
You know.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
And the thing is, Jay is like watching the end
of this game and I'm going take him out of
the game. You can see he's getting hit so hard
on every play and he's he's not just hurt, he's injured.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
How does Kevin I will not take him out of
the game.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
Well, listen, I think there is one thing about guys
who are playing for injuries and gets your honor to
fight hurt so the guy can go, he can go,
and I think you know that huge drop off under that.
He's like, well that's totally different also, but you know, look,
here's the deal. Also showed you guys know the dial
Jaj McCarthy. All right, they've been working him out for

(20:22):
the last couple of weeks. He still just hasn't been
where he needed Again. I talked to Kevin about it.
He's like, look, he's only starting. He started on one
or two games, right, So he's like, everybody, if this
was like a gregl veteran, we get him back. He
pushed back and he doesn't need to be one hundred percent.
But because of you know what I have to do
with developing him. You don't want to push him back

(20:44):
in there before he's ready and then all of a sudden,
where you're trying to help, you know, build some growth
in there and have an upward trajectory, he's just playing
from you know, behind the eight pole the whole time.
He's not going to grow. So we in this case,
you need him to be one hundred percent because he
does use his legs a lot his ray Mobile, and
you don't want to put him in there where now
it's going to set him back. And plus he's like

(21:04):
everybody kind of looks at it like it's got fran tarkted,
like he hasn't done anything yet. We don't want to
push him in, right, push him in when he's not
ready to go, because then he's kind of just fighting
for his life back there, and you're not able to
grow and progress and build up that he wants to build.
He goes, I got to do what's right for the
long term for this kid, not for the short term
of this for this team, and he's you know, these

(21:27):
next couple of weeks, the long term of this kid.
It's a long term, you know relationship. They were hopefully
were going to be in here, so he's got to
do it for a long time. And I get that.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
And that's curiosity now because we watched Winz get beaten
up today. Jay, that offensive line has been banged up
all years. I don't know how you how you rush
McCarthy back at this point.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Then well there the point that it's not going to
be rushing down. That's why they gave him all the time.
They want them to make sure I have time. I know,
even in the bye week, he did a lot of
work there with coaches on his own, kind of volunteer
to go and do some stuff and they work with him,
so he could you know, he still has to pick
up more of the game, but he's a young guy
who has no experience, so there's a lot there they

(22:06):
have to do. But you know, their their plan all
along was a couple of weeks ago when JJ came back.
Their hope was that Carson could be more than serviceable
and you know, wouldn't get hurt in these the last game,
and that the plan alone was to start him last
week and in this game. Then they have the mini
buy and they kind of you know mini buys and

(22:26):
you have the whole weekend and then they could really
you know, see if they could ramp JJ up come
back for the next game. That was the plan all along.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Now, Jay, I got a hot take for you for
the Chargers. You're ready, You're gonna love us. Okay, Now,
Garath Mahomes is having a great year, Dak is having
an incredible year. But maybe Joe Alt is the NFL MVP.
I mean, just see maybe that injury that I mean,
we haven't talked about that enough that you talk about
an injury that just set a team with Super Bowl

(22:53):
aspirations back. And now you see tonight the impact thirty
seven points against the Vikings on a Thursday night and
have a running.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Back go now, you know for he's been you know,
they've been in the market for a running back. Then
they have found a guy. Two big games for him
over one hundred yards. But all but it's not just
falt to is. The whole line has been backed up, right,
Losing boat tackles has been massive for them. Uh, and
not have a consistency and they're effected and things like that.
But yeah, having a guy that Joe Walt, at least
you got that guy in there. You have, you know,

(23:22):
as a as a quarterback, you're looking like, oh God,
I got somebody here, icky out on okay if they
get to me. But yeah, I'll tell you what Purpot's
doing so well and a lot of these other quarterbacks
should start taking note. Is the way he is running
with it because he's not being careless. He's taken off,
he's running, he's finding these open teams, but he's keeping
himself out of harm's way. He's done a really great

(23:45):
job with that.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Yeah, for all the hits he's taken that and then
he keeps going. You've got now depth in that wide
receiving core. How dangerous is this team overall?

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Jay?

Speaker 3 (23:54):
What do you think?

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Say that again?

Speaker 3 (23:56):
How dangerous do you think the Chargers are in their
current state?

Speaker 4 (24:00):
I think the Chargers looked, you know, they needed to
get guys back from injury and listen, losing Derwin tonight.
I don't know the extent and I text him. I
haven't heard back from yet. I know he's in walking boots.
That is a huge thing because that's the heart and
soul of your team, and that's it seems like every
time they want to move forward, they get hit with
an injury that kind of sets them back. That's that

(24:20):
that could Hopefully it doesn't for them, but yeah, they
have the talent to go with anybody without a doubt,
especially if you know they have to get their running
game going. They've gotten now in the last two weeks,
so it'll be you know, it'll be interesting to see
how they respond based on what durwin situation is. But
also building off of this because when you see it tonight,

(24:41):
especially God, this wasn't just then of defense is a
Brian host right, the way they're able to go at
get after him, that's teams don't do that to them.
So this needs to be something that they build off of.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
All right, Jada, take you outside of the game tonight.
Aaron Rodgers getting ready for the big quote revenge, although
don't ask him that it's not a revenge.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Game a and it's definitely not.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
It's definitely He said today that hey, he wants to
retire a Packer when it's all said and done.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Hope we go back.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
There are things cool with him in the Packers now
because it was two years of drama.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Jamie, it's everyday drama for a couple of years.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
No, no, no doubt there was and but it's I
think Karen's the place now. Like he said it, He's like, man,
everything great to happen in my life happened because I
played football for the Packers. And yeah, I don't think
he has many resentments there now. I know you love
playing the Pittsburgh loves Arthur Smith, loves Mike Tomlin loves

(25:36):
Arthur Smith. And I still think they've got to figure out,
you know, the ways that can go over there is
you know in Pittsburgh too. It's like, man, you've always
had a worry about the offense umber the defense. Now
it's kind of flipped and I would rather have it
that way. Okay, we finally have our office or a
quarterback there. And defensively, Tomlink always helped jump in and
fix that defense. So it's kind of where you want it.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
This is great, though, Jay.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
I mean, look, I celebrate I ended a birthday last week,
and Aaron Rodgers is now going to be like fifty
before he retires.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Now right anyway, he's playing right now, let's tack out
another twenty DA.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
As long as these guys keep going, I don't feel
so old. Do you think he plays another year? Like
the pat and the Steelers has said.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
That I think it's too early. I think it's too
early to tell. I really do. And you know, I
remember talking when we were training this off season. I'm like, hey,
it to issue last year. Make sure every stadium you're out,
like say goodbye to your own little thing. And I
didn't get an answer back like definitely, yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely,
you know I'm out or anything like that for guys
like when I know they're done, it's pretty emphatic about it.

(26:36):
But I think I've told you the stories in the past.
These guys have been done. Tony z Alice, he was done,
he and now was sitting all of a sudden a
month later calling him back and he calls me and say,
hey man, you think tiny And Thomas. That's my experience
with Thomas Mintel's head coach and gam on the Falcons.
They had me back for another year. Am I told,
what are we doing here? And I can't retire, you know,

(26:56):
less than ten yards short of Super Bowl, which is
what happened when they're playing Sam fram Anty championship game
and we actually, I don't know if I've told the
story here. We flew. Mike Smith, the head coach of
the Falcons, out co Manhattan Beach to meet with me
and Tony and kind of go over with him and
Tony like Tony was like, hey, hey, you talk. He's
not confrontational at all, So talk to Smitty about, Hey,

(27:19):
this is what we want to do it, this is
the way you do it. It's first Minty's like, how
do I And part of it was like Tony's not
going to go a tamp and He's like, well, how
do I do that? Jave, tell all the other players
that you know, one guy's not going to go to
the champ. I said, it's pretty easy. You say, okay, guys,
show a hands here, who's my fourteen Pro Bowls? Okay
to may fourteen pro boles, you get the best champs?

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Pretty easy.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Smitty's not hard.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Okay, So I mean did that get you three percent? Yeah?
Did that get you three percent? Or just a couple
of free dinners from Gonzales?

Speaker 4 (27:46):
And come on, Tony's bought me enough dirks for good?

Speaker 1 (27:50):
All right, Let's go to Denver big win fourth quarter
for the Ages against the Giants.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
But it's not about the game.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Uh, the postgame com heads from Sean Payton, it's awful
hard not to interpret it at face value in terms
of the Russell Wilson, though he tried to walk it back.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
What say you.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Okay, so listen, I know what he thinks of Russell.
When I heard the quote, I actually thought he was
talking about Jackson Dart. I really did. I think Russell's
at first heard of this thing from his mind. It
really was, I don't think. But they were talking about
Jackson Darton. They're I know, defensively, they were worried and
they're like, man, this kid him and scataboo because I
was talking to him. They're like, they got such an

(28:30):
idea and identity. Now they believe they're different. So this
is not me covering for Sean. Trusty. If I think
he said it, I'm like, oh, no doubt, And I
have a lot of fun that makes fun of mine now.
But the way I heard it too, I heard it
for Jackson. Then I saw Russell say that, I'm like, oh,
oh yeah, I could see that too. Yeah, And and
trust me, I think if Sean meant it as a

(28:50):
shot at Russell, I think Sean want to shot back
at him. No doubt. We have never seen Sean Payton
by this talngue. So I think if he really meant
about Russell, he would he would he would definitely shot
shoot Daggers at Russell over.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
But I really don't think it was Jay Lazer. He's
on Twitter at Jay Glazer. Jay, you want to say,
keep fighting the good fight. I know it's ADHD Awareness
Month and you're speaking up about your journey.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Awesome stuff. Man, what's some stuff going on now?

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Man?

Speaker 4 (29:17):
Now what you know? I've used it. I finally found
a prescription that works for me for ADHD called Kelbury.
So I've been talking about because this non stimulant I
taken a night, well, all the stimulants I've taken this
really not work world for depression all. So Calbury's been
huge for me. It's it's yeah, it's pretty game changers
for I've never thought I could take something the night,
but cous me down and guess we focused helps me

(29:38):
next day on Foxingville Sunday. But it's been really great.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Jee, keep fighting the good fight, my friend. We'll talk
to you next week. Enjoy the weekend. Appreciate you stopping
down Bundy Son game. There goes Jay Glazer the best. Hey, Sean,
what are you doing?

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Man?

Speaker 1 (29:51):
What are you doing Look, it's a question we have
to ask because we know, Look, Jay's got relationships, the
relationship business, and so there are some coaches that that
we know he's got the the extra line on and
that he will call them out.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
I mean we've had him do it with Tomlin. Yeah,
I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Now the biggest thing, who do you think has bought
j Moore drinks? Tony Gonzalez or Bruce Arians?

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Then yeah, that is.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
We got Howie Long as the uber driver, and we've
had Bruce Arians.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Enjoying a cocktail in the background. There were several of
those day drinking with Bruce Arians.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Yeah, sure, that's an you think drank their beer is
more than more jt oh oh.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
See now that that's that's what Alex. That's called ties
it together.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
That's a that's a subtext subtweet comment by Alex Teischer. Right,
thank you there, because it was actually had a glazer
of it.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Again, Jake Lay.

Speaker 1 (30:47):

(31:09):
we love forever and ever and ever. Because she bought
pizza for all of us tonight to celebrate the Chargers win.
It's Monzi belagya.

Speaker 9 (31:16):
Yes, nice, that's right. Chargers No No.

Speaker 10 (31:21):
Chargers meet the Vikings at SOFI Stadium thirty seven to ten.

Speaker 9 (31:26):
Justin Herbert.

Speaker 10 (31:27):
It looked like he threw a pick six in the
very second play of the game, but it was an
incomplete pass and then things just got rolling for the Chargers.
He threw for two hundred and twenty seven yards three touchdowns.
He did end up with an interception. Carson Wentz struggled
for the Vikings. He was fifteen of twenty seven, one
hundred and forty four yards, one touchdown, one interception.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
In fact, Max Brosmer came in to play.

Speaker 10 (31:50):
He is a rookie quarterback from Minnesota that you probably
weren't expecting to see, but they had nobody else since J. J.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Mcart you expect to see until tomorrow night. Because Blake
Snell is starting one of the World Series, right. I
thought Blake snow was into play quarterback.

Speaker 9 (32:03):
No, no, But I don't know if it's gonna get
any better because listen to this from Vikings Radio Network.

Speaker 5 (32:09):
Chargers rush five. Carshon back to pass, throws to.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
The left, arm was hit as he grew and it's
incomplete Carson very slow to get up his left arms,
a complete disaster.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
I mean, with all due respect, I'm not a doctor job.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Obviously, but I mean, how many times do we have
to see him hold his arm and wins in pain
and run off the field.

Speaker 9 (32:32):
We saw that a lot throughout this game. So I
don't know if it's going to be any better.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Play. Hey, I'm hurt, man, let's run out of the play.
Come on, let's.

Speaker 10 (32:41):
Literally literally, so we'll see what happens, what the Vikings
choose to do. They are now three and four, Chargers
are five and three. When it comes to the NBA,
there's one game going on and it's a double header
type of night in the NBA. Aaron Gordon thirty points
to lead the Nuggets, who are still on top of
the Warriors, but Golden State has cut that deficit Denver
is up eighty one to seventy seven with six minutes

(33:02):
to go in the third quarter, but Shay Gilgess Alexander
put on a show in Indiana a career high fifty
five points to go along with eight rebounds, and the
Thunder and Pacers rematch of the finals totally delivered. They
want to double overtime in Indiana, but Okaysee won it.
One forty one to one thirty five was the final
score in Baseball News yes Game one of the World

(33:25):
Series Friday from Toronto. Blue Jays are going to start
pitcher trey Ya Savage on the mound. While the Dodgers
announced that relief pitcher Alex Vasio will be away from
the team as he deals with the personal family matter.
They did not provide a timetable for his return. He
could be placed on the family emergency list. If he
is placed on that leave, he would be required to
stay for a minimum of three days and a maximum

(33:45):
of seven days.

Speaker 9 (33:46):
USA Today had those details.

Speaker 10 (33:48):
When it comes to the NHL, the Hurricanes are edging
the Avalanche for three with six minutes to go on
the third period.

Speaker 9 (33:54):
With seven minutes to go on.

Speaker 10 (33:55):
The third period, Kings and stars are tied at two apiece.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch more big fat zero,
big fat zero qu zero.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
If you're in illegal, you get targets. Maybe. Oh, he
didn't have any talk.

Speaker 9 (34:08):
I don't even know what he was doing. He was
on a he was on a milk cart, and he's missing.
I have no idea where he's at.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
I'm sorry about that.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
But and Gadson, you'll take the zero in fantasy for
the win on the field, of course I will.

Speaker 10 (34:24):
But that doesn't mean I can't compartmentalize my joy and
my agony parallel.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
Thank you.

Speaker 9 (34:33):
I'm so happy for the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Damn my fantasy team's never buying pizzagain.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Never.

Speaker 9 (34:39):
I also realized we don't really like thin crustier.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
That was fantastic. Wasn't that goods I was in.

Speaker 9 (34:47):
Look at this guy, he's saying, no, so I want
a cracker.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
I'll get a cracker.

Speaker 9 (34:52):
That's a cracker.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
That was a cracker.

Speaker 10 (34:54):
No, it's not.

Speaker 9 (34:55):
Well, you know what, you should have gotten up faster.
Some people went for doubles before you got there.

Speaker 10 (35:00):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Maybe we should be courteous because people have to work.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Yea, And I was not one of those people that
went for doubles as far as you know it right,
and I was not that per whole box in front
of you, not a whole box. Maybe a little bit
less than what's in the box. Exit out about a
Fresco exit swollen dome. Coming up next, an aspect of
the NBA gambling scandal that has to be addressed Jason

(35:22):
and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Oh it works. Let's get a couple of big drums
in here and get working. The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon the NBA gambling scandal today.
He's become a pretty big story. And thanks Todd Furman

(36:04):
Vegas Insider for joining us early in the show. Some
phenomenal stuff on him again. Check out our Best of
podcasts wherever you get your podcast from goes gets put
up right after the show is over tonight. And you
know to hear when you hear all the names Chauncey, Billups,
Terry Rozier, Damon Jones Lakers volunteer assistant type coach with

(36:24):
Darvin Ham who let out some Lebron James injury info.
And this was the base of the investigation that got
blown up today. Damon Jones is part of it. When
he was a coach with the Lakers, knew that Lebron
James was going to miss a game. Let people know, Hey,
Lebron's gonna miss tonight. It's not announced yet, so hey,
you want to get your bets in before it's announced.

(36:47):
Lebron's gonna miss it. Now, Lebron has not been named
in this and he's not talked. And this is not
to say any part of it, but now Lebron is
slowly going to become the face of this story. Right Billups.
For the average NBA fan, you remembers Chauncey Billups right
nearly was a Hall of Famer. Right, if he won
one more chance, they could have held off the Spurs
in the fourth quarter of Game seven in two thousand

(37:10):
and three, they might have won. He might have been
a Hall of Fame. Look, he's been in the league
for a long time, but it's Chauncey Billups. Terry Rozier
has been a decent player in the NBA for all,
But it's Terry Rozier. But here's Lebron James whose name
gets thrown into this. And I get the philosophy of
don't say anything. I'm not gonna talk about this. It's
not I'm not even not even radar screen.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
Don't ask me about it. I'm not gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
I understand that because this is not a topic you
really want to have to weigh in on when you're
Lebron and you know what people are gonna say, and
you know how things are gonna go, and you know
how the dialogue and the conversation goes with it involves you.
I think Lebron's got to be really transparent in talking
about this and being open about it because we saw today,

(37:57):
Hey that it works right the theory, here's some illegal
gambling going on. There was work being done between the NBA,
between the government. They came up with this big sting
and and busted a lot of illegal gambling. Transparency is
always the key. And and again there's been no nothing
for Lebron at all. And I'm not even even in hinting,

(38:19):
but just from a pr standpoint, I know how it's
gonna go and I really, I really would have. If
I'm a Lebron's I would say, you need to come
out and talk about this. You gotta talk about how
bad this is for the game. You gotta talk about
how important it is to be up on the right side.
You have to tell everybody I had nothing to do
with this.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
This was not anything. Because you know, he knows Damon Jones,
they were friends.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
He's gonna he's gonna get He's gonna become and his
situation is gonna become the face of this.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
You know, people are gonna say, oh, what did he
really know?

Speaker 4 (38:47):
What did not? Look?

Speaker 3 (38:47):
We saw with Shoho Tani last year in epey, Oh
what does know?

Speaker 4 (38:51):
What is he not?

Speaker 1 (38:52):
And a lot of it was above board and we
moved on from that scandal. I think Lebron really needs
to get up and talk a lot about it, maybe
have his own press conference and not look like he's
evading anything and just talk for like fifteen or twenty
minutes about it. Okay, and now we're done and we're
moving on from it. I think silence is the worst part,
because this is something that needs transparency. Yeah, I think

(39:13):
you know, you bring in the Otani stuff of a
year ago. And look, all of us have watched the
investigations of things through the years and sports and well
the world at large, and generally they don't happen that fast.
So there's still some level of skepticism. And I like
that we have healthy skepticism, not necessarily the tenfoil hat
crowd out there for everything, but that we do ask

(39:35):
some questions. And in this case for Lebron James, teammate
of Damon Jones, they're on the staff all of those things.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
Look, the guy played in the league for eleven years.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
He's been around the league a long time, so there's
a you start talking about the spider ring effect of
how many people he knows, how much information flows through.
This is where you keep asking questions for Lebron James.
You also have the fact that they're all a lot
of ads. He does with Kevin Hart, and there's certainly
people that take umbrage with that. I saw many an

(40:05):
vitriolic rant going on about that side of things today,
just that his name was mentioned and that folks made
some money by him missing a game. Right, There's there's
some other you know, specific games that have popped up
but yeah, it's become.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
A bigger deal.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
And the more that Silver Lebron James and anybody else
that's associated with this can get in front of a microphone,
the better for the game.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
Transparency is the key.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Coming up next, we got a big take on Thursday
night football Vikings Chargers Next, Fox,
