If you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome in Side hour two The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon. Gidea seven and a
half to go in the fourth quarter. It is a
thirty to twenty seven lead for the Lions right now
over the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
What does that mean?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
It means the over has hit. Mike Harmon, Let's go
double up, counting it down all night long. The ver
cash has hit.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
It's a big night in basketball as well. Lebron James,
a streak of over twelve hundred games finishing in double
figures has ended just eight points tonight, but he does
set up the game winning touch the game when a touchdown.
The game winning three pointer by Ruey Hatchimura passing up
a shot that could have gotten them to ten points
(01:18):
could have potentially won the game. Instead, he passes Ruey
hot Chima Hotchimora Berry's a three. The Lakers win. We'll
have more on that. Jamiir Gibbs in the end zone
again for the Lions. Rushing touchdown is second one of
the night. They pushed that lead out to now thirty
six twenty seven extra point pending. But I gotta think
that tomorrow is gonna be an interesting Doug Gottlieb Show
(01:41):
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Oh yeah, okay, I got it.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
That's really interesting because now when you think of coaches
who throw chairs, you think Bobby Knight, and now it's
gonna be Doug Gottlieb The Phoenix tonight, Gottlieb's team head
coach blew a late lead and videos out they're on
the internet. I mean it said something that's here, and uh,
Doug is seen walking off the court and when he
(02:05):
gets like kind of behind the stands, grabs a chair
and throws it one of those and it looked like
the same kind of chair that Bobby Knight through. It's
one of those just uh plastic black chairs with the
with the silver legs, and threw it across as he
goes in there was nobody close to him, there was nothing,
nobody was any danger. You had to stop and look
at it to see it. But it's become a story.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So I think tomorrow's show, I have no doubt in
my mind he will talk about it, because you know
Doug will do that. He talks about uh stuff like
this doesn't matter if it's if it's good, if it's bad,
it's embarrassing like that. That that's that's the radio host
that Doug is. So I know he's gonna talk about it.
But uh yeah, it's out there tonight, and I gotta
think Tomorrow's gonna be a pretty interesting show.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
You know, a very emotional moment because they they had
a game against Robert Morris defending you know, League champs,
that that they had him, yeah right and that and
that's the the emotion in that moment of a guy
who wore it. In our industry, a lot of folks
took their turns with him last year as they tried
to build the program. They've had a good start to
(03:07):
the season and he had Robert Morris on the rope.
So I know Doug like this. That was a moment
that he had been waiting for Yeah, and so that
making the rounds, but they they lose a tough one
eighty seventy eight year final.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, I mean look and it was. It was a
ten point lead with less than three minutes left to go,
and Robert Morris made a big layup at the buzzer
and you know, I see this, I go, oh my goodness.
I mean, obviously you know Doug on the internet with this,
but I you know, I gotta be honest when you know,
in coaching and all the U sports I coached for
for most for most of the last few years, whether
(03:42):
it's soccer or softball, there were times in games that
we lost or something happened that was incredibly frustrating. I
wanted to throw a chair. I mean I wanted to
throw a bat. I wanted to do something. But I
settled for was getting in the car after the game
and turning my turning my car on, turning the music
(04:05):
up really loud, and just screaming whatever export if I
wanted to. And that that's what got it out for me.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
I really thought you were gonna start saying I started singing.
But even the thing all those hey.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
And I can't feel better. No, I get mad, and
I would just I would just scream out usually usually
it usually was it was an F bomb, you said,
But I would just I would just get in the car,
start the car, turn the car, turn the radio on,
and just scream and grab the steering wheel like I
wanted to shake the crap out, like you know, you know,
if you ever seen dead to me with Christina Applegate,
(04:36):
like when she gets frustrated, she goes in the car,
turns the car like in a garage, Like I never
did that, but like she would go in death metal, Yeah,
turn the death Metal on, whither it sleep Token or
not or whatever it was, but she would turn on
to and would just start bashing her brea, you know,
bashing her head to it, along to it and grabbing
the steering wheel like that's kind of what I did.
I was, but I always made sure that nobody was
(04:56):
around and no one saw me do it, Like I
make sure the I don't want anybody to just in
case maybe I left the back window open. I want
to scream, somebody go, whoa, who's screaming that? Oh that's
Coach is upset. Coach is really mad.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
This coach putting up the the sun visors all around
the car.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Why is why is he so mad? So I get
it right, Like, I I get that.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
I remember having to in in Madeline's first year protect
some referees from coaches and family members who wanted to
go at him. Oh yeah, you know they made they
made the right call. I was down on the end
line that one of those were the goalie rolled across
the end line with the with the ball into the net.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
I mean, it's tough goal.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
But but yeah, we've seen a lot for for I
mean like big, big moment, big game and growing. Yeah,
light and you gotta love the direction they're they're heading in. Yeah,
I mean, uh, look, it's a it was, it's a
it's a tough loss. I'm sure I'll talk about it tomorrow.
I get it, man. Yeah, I mean I'm glad. I'm
(05:59):
glad I didn't get the point where because you always
have to watch out for levels of frustration where someone
is in danger, like you don't you know, throw a
chair and just miss somebody, bounce like a kid standing
there with an icy like you want to make sure
that that's not that's not the case. The image of
the kid with the icy, you know what picturing is
that in the when you go to the movies and
(06:21):
they do that. Uh, oh wait, we just do movie tickets, right, like, hey,
and maybe you online thies disappear right ma and the
and the and the woman walks in with her icy
and she goes, are we gonna make somebody sleep with
the fishes?
Speaker 5 (06:34):
Like?
Speaker 1 (06:34):
She just stands with that look on her face. They go,
who whoa, We just do movie tickets. Hey, welcome to
the club. Welcome to the club. Like that's how I
picture someone standing there. Go oh, there goes a chair
flying right by me. Oh my goodness, look at that.
Oh I kind of went Mark Simpson there, Oh, Homer,
don't throw a chair. You got to watch it, Homer. Excellent.
Uh so again again big big night in basketball, Big
(06:56):
night here. Uh so, where we sit right now, Jamiir
Gibbs in the end zone again for the Cowboy, for
the Lions. What it'd be great for the Cowboy? How
about that? Uh thirty seven to twenty seven, leads seven
and a half to go in the fourth court. Of course,
after this game, we'll have Jake Laser like we normally
do every Thursday night, the only show Jay joins as
us here on Fox Sports Radio, Jamiir Gibbs so far tonight,
(07:19):
seventy seven yards receiving on seven catches, just twenty nine
yards rushing, but two touchdowns. And you know, we opened
the show talking about this. This touchdown run was his
big run of the night. It was it was you know,
he had a he had a he eluded a couple
of guys getting into the end getting down to the
two yard line, lowering his shoulder and getting into the
end zone. I mean it, there's times when I when
(07:40):
I look at Jamir Gibbs and I go, this is
the best running back in the NFL the last fifteen years.
And there's been talented guys. Look, Jean Robinson is phenomenal.
It took him a year for the or a year
plus for the Falcons to go. Hey had to give
this guy the ball all the time. And and you
go back to the Jonathan Taylor era a few years ago.
Now back this year hasn't he hasn't run the ball
(08:01):
well lately. But there's lots of guys that had great
years and King Henry and you go all the way back,
but there's been nobody like Jamier Gibbs the last fifteen
years and he has come in right away and showed
you I have all the skills you need. He's the
closest thing to Barry Sanders that we have seen different
kind of guy with elusivity. Barry Sanders had much more
of a left to right elusivity to himself and then
(08:25):
he can get down the field and had he had
both vertical and horizontal elusiveness to him. There's lots of
times where he would make a play happen because he
would be able to go left right and the dB
would fly, but then he would have to start going again.
Jamir Gibbs is a down hill deeker, like he is
someone he's never gonna make a move in the backfield
(08:47):
or getting the ball where it's gonna be stop four
or five starter steps, fake to one side and then
go I also don't know if that works in this
era of the NFL where you can go side to
side as much, because I think Reggie Bush showed us that,
oh boy, you gotta kind of go forward more. But
like his elusiveness is just the way he can in
the middle of the field. He had a big nineteen
(09:07):
yard reception in the first hat tonight where he caught
the ball made a turn, stepped one way and was gone. Yeah,
Like I got all the way down to the eleven
yard line, and which is where the where he got tackled.
Only because the play was so long to develop, the
dbs down the field were able to get behind him
and make the tackle. But like it's a it's almost
like a one cut and goer or a quick bang bang,
(09:28):
and I'm gone And there's no side to side, there's
no slowing down, there's no way the defender on either
side can get closer to him. This is he is
a down hill deeker where it's it's one move and
suddenly it's good luck because this guy is so incredibly fast,
so incredibly adept. I mean, I look, I go, I
don't know there's been a guy like him in the
(09:48):
last fifteen years. When where I see drives, I go,
I want to give him the ball on every play,
every single play.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
When to get trying to think of all the running
backs that we've run through in the fantasyland, back when
running backs rude the earth. You know, obviously McCaffrey a
little different style where we talk about what he's been as.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
A receiver this year.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
The number of targets, the lining out wide whatever, what's
cure is gibs in this game seven catches, seven targets,
seventy seven yards seventh wild before that touchdown run. Well,
let's just look at the rushing total altogether ten garys
twenty nine yards long of nineteen. Yeah, but you know what,
(10:29):
you keep chipping away at the stone and looks as
my friends did in their you know, wedding vows like water,
erodes rock.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Here we are. That was a wedding vowl. Really, yeah, really,
it's pretty good line like water. I don't know, I
think they're trying a little bit. Well, no, that just
that you're my heart, You're my sun and the moon
and no.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
It was it was an ode to how long they'd
been together before actually getting married, that she finally wore
him down.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Water, rolled like water, rolled over and wore down this
rock over the course in the past five thousand years.
It's been a long time born. You done right, I'm
done now.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
That's good.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
That's goat. Yeah, yeah, just a couple of days ago,
now you mentioned that. And and in a weird way,
we were completely right about this game, except for the
fact that the teams we picked to win. This game
is not going to win. The Cowboys are down ten,
they're running the football, which I'm like, really, we're running
the football. They're playing without CD Lamb, who left the game,
(11:26):
uh with being evaluated for a potential concussion. Uh. But
what we said last night we talked about the Cowboys
winning this game. I said, the Cowboys are gonna get
out to a lead. It's gonna be one of those
games where they score quick early because I don't know
the Lions can keep up with them. You have Sam
Laporta is out, who knows how i'mon Ross Saint Brown
is going to be and it's gonna be high scoring.
(11:47):
But the Cowboys will get out early because they're red hot.
Well what happened. The team got out red hot early.
It just happened to be the Lions. And another reason
we said was they're gonna have a tough time running
the football Detroit will because the Cowboys stopping the run,
the changes they made, the improvements they made, Quinn Williams,
They're gonna have a tough time running the football, and
so far they're having a tough time running the football.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Dave Montgomery has a couple of nice runs but it's
really one big run. Jamiir Gives has not been able
to get going running the football, so they've been able
to hold him down a little bit. It's really outside
of if you take that one big run away, it's
seventeen rushes for like fifty yards for the for the Lions. Snite.
But still it's been enough for Detroit to take control
(12:29):
of this game, being up by ten with four minutes
left to go. So in a way, we were right
when we picked the Cowboys. It's just a score is
not gonna bear us out. I realize I can't go
to Vegas and say I think I won this bad
really well, yeah, because I said this and this and this,
but the final score was the Lions and they covered.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Yeah, yeah, But really I was right, so I should
be able to collect my ticket.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
Now.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
It's the old rule of thumb, right, you could be
right ninety eight percent at the time. But we'll bring
back Barry Sanders for this one. I can tell you
he's gonna have a tough day running the ball. He
can go nineteen for thirty one, yeah, and then he's
off for a seventy eight yard time touchdown. All of
a sudden you were wrong.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Nothing more.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
What am I gonna do? That guy slipped as he's
gotten dead dead to rights?
Speaker 1 (13:09):
I mean, come on, nothing more frustrating in fantasy than
to watch your score when Barry Sanders was playing and
you're like, all right, this is great. Yeah, nineteen carries,
thirty one yards, feeling good, feeling, and all of a
sudden you go, whoa, how am I losing? Oh eighty
four yard touchdown run. So now Barry's day is nineteen
carries for one hundred and twenty one yards and a
touch away. How do you just have nineteen points added
(13:29):
to his total?
Speaker 5 (13:30):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Come on, man? Was it lagging? Like, no, watch the replay?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Oh and back then you had to wait to watch
the replay.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
You didn't know.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
You didn't get those instant updates. No, what you have
to have somebody doing doing the stats live.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Or you'd have that the lower third would scroll through
with some data for you. Every once in a while,
it's like, wait, what great seventy eight touchdown run, Barry?
Thanks for that. I appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Oh that was that was the tail at the tape r.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
That's where you have that breakaway ability of a Jamior
Gibbs we talk about John Robinson and some of these
game changers in the running back position. But to your point, yeah,
this was called right in terms of the inability to
run the ball instead your chunkyardage in the passing game.
Couple of ill timed, terrible penalties that the Cowboys have
(14:17):
taken to make it a ten point deficit inside of
four minutes, but driving.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Just under four minutes left to go, Cowboys have the
ball at the eleven yard line of the Lions. A
touchdown will get it to a field goal game and
still put them in position. They still, I believe, have
a couple of timeouts left, so it could still be
a game, or the Lions defense could throw the hammer
down and when we come back, we are talking about
(14:45):
a big Lions victory and suddenly can the Cowboys still
make the playoffs? Chaos A big, big Thursday night finish
coming up next. Keep it right here, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon.

Peanut Butter Reese's cup mess with me, I'll mess you up.
This is like, this is like, hey, what are you
doing with Christmas? Eve? Let's go clubbing? Yeah, let's go out.
That sounds like a play.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yeah, clubbing on Chris.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
I don't know less. I went glubbing on Christmas.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
It's always time to do it again. Let's go globing today,
let's go Uh.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
The Detroit Lions looked like they could be going one
and oh today. Aman ross Saint Brown, I think he's okay.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
One of those hit had the guts to play it.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
I'm just going out on a limb. That Aman Rossaint
Brown looks okay. Watching him warm up before the game tonight,
he looked like the old Aman Rossaint Brown right. He
was questionable coming into the game, didn't look like he
could be able to go coming off the injury a
week ago, but did have a full week's rest. People
forget the Lions played on Thanksgiving Day, it wasn't Sunday
(16:43):
in a short week, and so far tonight he has
looked really good, none better than on the huge play
he just made uh to give the Lions a first
down deep in Cowboys territory. It's a thirty seven to
thirty game. Right now, the lines the lead end football.
The lesson they want to do is give the ball
back to the Dallas Cowboys. But a'm and ross Aint Brown.
(17:06):
Great move on a crossing pattern. He is wide open.
Jared Goff hits him. It's a huge gain of thirty
seven yard thirty seven in a row. So now the
Lions have the football first and ten just inside the
Cowboys twenty thirty seven thirty. The Cowboys are starting to
use their timeouts for am and rossing Brown. So far
(17:26):
tonight six catches, ninety two yards, nine targets, game high
nine targets. So I'm pretty I feel pretty I'm not
on the edge of the envelope here. I feel pretty good.
By saying I think I'm in rossing Browns.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
Decided departure from if you were checking news and notes
earlier in the day, which declared, oh, he'll be ready
for week fifteen. Yeah so you so you may have
benched him. I got a feeling he's on a lot
of fantasy benches, yeah for this one. And then he
went through the warm ups and a couple of reporters
said hey. He gave us the thumbs up saying hey,
I'm ready to go, and they got him a catch
(18:00):
right off the jump, first possession right that ended up
in the field goal. But they moved the ball well.
But he caught a pass, came off the fields like,
all right, what are we doing? Was that the He's
going to be deployed and be judicious? Nope, six catches,
ninety two yards, nine targets on the game, and.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Make it another touchdown for Jamir Gibbs, his third of
the game. He gives the football to a fan. Everybody
is hugging him. He goes in the easiest touchdown run
he has had all season, gets a good seal off
block on the edge, and by the time he got
to the five yard line, he was basically walking into
(18:39):
the end zone making another score. Forty three to thirty
extra point pending. Now it's gonna be a it's a
two touchdown game. Now for the Lions again, extra point pending.
Now make it a thirty seven point game.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Fantasy wise for Jamir Gibbs, thirty seven points a monster game.
Let me let me pull it up because in the
Guillotine League, as we stand final five, Brianna's part of
this mass. As we try to go down the end game.
I know Dan Bayer had Gibbs in his lineup. Last
I looked. It was a massive total and it's only
(19:14):
getting bigger by the moment. Uh yeah, you're looking at
he is at twenty nine.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Point twenty nine. So PPR League thirty six. Because I
all my leader, which I hate my fact that all
my leaders PPR, I can't stand that.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
But okay, I'm on board with a half PPR. You
get a little bit of a reward for actually completing
a catch. Yeah yeah, as opposed to the guys that
you know have the five reception thirty point game or Wizards.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
I've always hated that because the philosophy is always and
and you know, Fabiano and I have this to cut
this this conversation all the time. But what why why
shouldn't you reward a guy Moore who's got a big
impact on the game if he catches ten passes? I go,
I get that, But what about a running back that
runs the ball twenty three times?
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Right? Right?
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Like that's a bit you're having a big impact on
the game, right, Because what you're telling me is a
running back that runs ten times for one hundred yards,
whoa okay, ten yards of carry, he has the same
impact on a game as a receiver that catches five
passes for fifty yards. He doesn't. He doesn't five pot fifty.
That's a generic game, right, But you're telling me both
those guys are the same impact on the game. They don't.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Yeah, for fantasy purposes that have always argued that that
same thing. I am not a the van of it
in the full PPR. I know it extended the player
pool where you would have you know, some of these
possession guys that get the run, and it's important to
the game of football. I don't dis miss it categorically,
But if you're tucking the ball into a guy's gut
(20:38):
twenty five thirty times, that means you're salting away a
win by using him, and that means.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
He is affecting the game because you're giving him the football, right.
If he's not affecting the game, you're not giving him
the football right. So you don't get I don't get it.
I'm not in the carries league.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
The league and also including punters, like there was a
lot of stuff going going on, you know, I kind
of most convoluted league ever, but it was fun. The
punter thing was a fascinating inclusion, right, coffin corners, inside
the ten, inside the five, those kind of things.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
I feel like that line Elaine had en Seinfeld when
Stuff Crust Pizza first came out and she goes, you know,
get the stuff CRUs pizza because I'll tell you what,
can be a long time before they figure out another
way to jam cheese on a pizza like that. And
I feel I feel feel the same way. Hey uh
enjoy because I got a feeling there's gonna be a
long time before people come up with another way to
play Fantasy that that is going to be really really popular.
(21:32):
Like we've tried everything so far.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
We got the Guillot's, we got all of that. You
know what the pizza. You just stacked the cheese higher.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Yeah, but we've seen that. That's like adding more blades
on a razor. How come we don't have six blade razers?
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Now?
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Why don't we have five? When I have six blade?
How about a ten blade razor? That's I'll just take
off layers of my skin too. I feel like, why
did we stop at five? Why do we really? Why did?
I don't understand, like, is there some sort of I
don't know if there's some so it wouldn't be FDA.
Maybe it's FDA, I don't know, but would there is
there some sort of scientific situation I would say, where
(22:09):
they go, oh uh yeah, the people's chance of killing
themselves with razors when you get past five blades, like
the the the chances just grow astronomically, Like why were
we not? You know, you have to redesign it for
the to hold that extra blade to where that cost
or unit goes up just enough to where it's not
worth it. I kind of put, I don't know, somebody
(22:31):
drew that line in the same uh you know the
other thing you say, You know we talked about I'm
on rossaint brown too, right, So it's a two score
lead for the lines. Now Cowboys have the football. We
are at the two minute warning is that you know
the whole thing on people, you know, I'm on Rossaining Brown,
on people's benches, not knowing what you're getting. I am
a big proponent of making it very easy and and
(22:52):
yes there's sometimes where a guy tries to play but
he re injures himself, but that happens so few times. Now,
if you are to play, it means they're expecting to
have you for the whole game. So I've always subscribed
to if he plays for them, yep, he plays for you. Now,
not every player. If it's a guy like well, he's
dinged up and he's my last flex and I have
(23:12):
a choice between him and somebody else. But a player
like I'm on Ross Saint Brown. If someone's gonna be
one of your top two running backs or quarterbacks and
wide receivers, uh yeah, if he plays for that, If
he plays for his team, he plays for you on
your fantasy.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
In this case, it was just a if you weren't
at game time right sitting there waiting to toggle, because
the assumption all week was that he wasn't gonna go.
And again even into the early part of today, all
reports were no, no, no, they're looking at next week. Yeah,
and then Tanta there he is, by the way, Jared Goff,
he's up to three oh nine. Yeah, so depending on
(23:46):
what you get for yardage, maybe you get that three
hundred yard bonus because we don't get those, uh necessarily
the same way we did five years ago. But just
three oh nine with one score for Jared Goff, so
certainly not a fantasy wizard there as Jamiir Gibbs with
the three touchdowns, and don't forget Montgomery with his six
for sixty and a score as well.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
And Isaac Tesla driving into the end zone for a score.
TJ I mean he was I'm the Ninja list. I can't.
I feel like I can't even do that as Berman
because that's such a gimmey. And in Tesla, I mean
it's it's such a gimmey Tesla like I mean, got
the old by US coach, you know Sataki where the hey,
the Sataki situation, mushrooming out of control for pens. That's
(24:28):
kind of what I lo.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
That video is pretty good. It's up on YouTube on
the YouTube channel. You should subscribe send it to friends
and family. It's pretty good bit. And now I few
like puns about mushrooms.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
We because we had that. We also had the the
Chesney higher right, Yeah yeah, TJ. Clearly with the higher
at U c l A with Chesney, Kenny, get the
Bruins back to the win column.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Kenny, get the Boys of fall on the right track.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Uh so that's where we sit right now, Cowboys with
the football less than two minutes left to go as
a fourteen point lead by the Detroit lines. Again, the
Cowboys playing without CD Lamb in this game he was
injured earlier. It was a fade pass to the not
quite to the back of the end zone, but about
midway point, about five yards deep into the end zone.
(25:17):
He almost comes up with an incredible catch, slams his
head to the ground. Looks like he postured a little
bit right after the play. Don't know if he lost
conscience at all, but very quickly he was ruled out
due to concussion related situations. He was brought to the
locker room. He came back out to watch the rest
of the Cowboys drive, which they scored a touchdown. When
back in he's been ruled out. We'll have an update
(25:37):
on CD LAMB as soon as we do, but I
gotta think that it's gonna be a few days. They
have ten days until he can play again. So the
good news is there is time for him to a
clear concussion protocol. It's not where after two days you're thinking, okay,
two more practice and he's not gonna be able to
make it. So they do have ten days. But man,
whenever you see somebody posture, you know that, Okay, that's
pretty that's pretty serious, right. You said his fingers were
(26:00):
so we're so spread apart, like I thought, Like I said,
did he did? He hurt his fingers as well. Like
it was the Tua posturing that we saw, which is
always just so dangerous. Now, it was very brief. He
didn't posture and lay there for twenty seconds till the
medical team got out. It was posturing for just about
a second maybe two. Then he rolled over and tried
to get up.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
But yeah, as as he went to the ground though,
like everything about it was awkward. The way he twisted
towards his body coming back for the ball, Dak had
him going towards the sideline so he can towards back.
He had moved in towards the center of the field
so awkwardly just the way he landed right banged his
leg like his hands got caught up as he as
(26:42):
he twisted, and then certainly you see on replay the posturing,
the fencer's posturing as they call it, and the head slam.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
But it was almost like like like Johnny Depp and
Edward scissorhands, like when he standing like this is because
his his he's laying on the ground and laying on
his back and his hand just go up on his
elbows and his you know, his fingers look really with
the gloves and everything, it's like, wow, it almost looks
like Edward Scissoring.
Speaker 5 (27:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
No, it was scary moment, but yeah, that's that's the
good visual. I was also thinking Danny DeVito's penguin.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Oh Oswald cobboo. Yeah yeah, okay, all right, very good.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
But either way, you know, contextualize it with our pop
culture references as we're so want.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
To do so disgusting eating the fish, great, all the food,
the end trails rolling down his face, discuss such a
great character, so underrated walking as Max Shred, I mean,
such a great movie.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Unfortunately they had to kill the uh the McDonald's tie
in because the movie was too dark.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
It was oh yeah, yeah, yea Joe.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
If you can find those toys, they actually carry a
pretty good premium in the market.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
I did.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Could you bring that back and have him do a
commercial as the penguin for Jersey? Mike's yeah, you can
do that now, all said, all the mayonnaise is rolling
down his face and the vinegar.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
I think that would be a good bit.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Would you like it? Mike's way? Yeah, yeah, Mike's way.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Yeah, yeah, you do him and you have Colin Farrell
standing there with him.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
He just grabs all this stuff and just starts squirting
it on his face in his mouth, throwing the turkey
in as they slice it up, and he's riding around
in a giant rubber duck. Oh so, under a minute
and a half left to go, Cowboys with the football
facing a second and sixteen, they are driving. However, they
are on the Lions twenty nine yard line. Let's get
(28:28):
more on this game right now. For someone who says
her favorite movie is Sophie's Choice, but it's actually Weekend
at Bernie's, it's Monzi Belano's ha a, it's probably right,
it's probably accurate.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
That's the better movie.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Let's be real here. Rachel says this is her favorite movie.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
So fule favorite movie is we you know Bernie's Big
Fat Golly. I did not have a big fat zero
today because I have Jamior Gibbs playing guys, so a
nice hat trick for him. Three touchdowns as Lions lead
the Cowboys forty four to thirty. Like you guys just
mentioned down to the final about seventy five seconds here,
(29:07):
Cowboys have the ball, but they're gonna need a lot
of luck to go on their side. Eagles and Chargers
on Monday, Philadelphia is gonna be without defensive tackle Jalen Carter.
He had a procedure this Monday on both of his shoulders.
Chargers are listing quarterback Justin Herbert, though as a limited
participant in practice today. No practice for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
(29:28):
Commanders upgraded quarterback Jaden Daniels to a full participant in practice,
so he's trending in the right direction to start Sunday
at Minnesota. Raiders defensive end Max Crosby went from being
limited in practice to not practicing today due to a
knee injury. Las Vegas hosts Denver four Week fourteen, and
for a second straight day, neither Cardinals wide receiver Marvin
(29:49):
Harrison Junior or Greg Dortsch practice today. When it comes
to the NBA, all the games have wrapped up at
The seventy six Ers survived ninety nine to ninety eight
against the Warriors. Warriors were down twenty four at one point.
The Celtics blew out the Wizards one forty six to
one oh one, where Derek White had thirty points, Julius
Randall had twenty eight points, and the Timberwolves outscored the
Pelicans one twenty five to one sixteen, and the Jazz
(30:11):
topped the Nets won twenty three to one ten, but
the Lakers walked it off on a Ruey Auchimura three
point shot to beat the Raptors one twenty three to
one twenty. It was Lebron James who passed Ruy Auschimura
that ball to hit the three, so Lebron james streak
of two hundred and ninety seven straight games with ten
points ended. He had eight points.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
And there is a bet.
Speaker 7 (30:32):
A screenshot of a bet floating around social media of
a better who bet fifty fifteen thousand dollars that Lebron
would continue the streak fifteen thousand dollars tonight tonight yep,
only to make five.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Hundred and seventy six dollars. I mean that's cashed repeatedly.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
It has cash repeatedly.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
But at this at one point you think it's gonna end.
Speaker 7 (30:57):
Yea, it would say.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
But if you've been going fifteen fifteen, fifteen, Shay, go
take your five hundred bucks a night, right.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
Yeah, that's just that's just fifteen thousand dollars up real quick,
real quick, in the blink of an eye. When it
comes to the NHL three games still going on right now.
The Blackhawks are up on the Kings one zero late
in the second period. Late in the third period where
the Oilers are crushing the crack in nine to three,
and the Flames also lead the Wild three to one
late in the third period.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Back to you guys, thank you very much. Bon see
it is now over in the Motor City. DJ Reid
with an interception the Lions kneel on the football, did
he pick it off?
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Did it hit the ground?
Speaker 1 (31:39):
He was ruled to have control of it that ended
the Cowboys final drive. The game is over. The Lions
win it forty four to thirty. Coming up next, NFL
on Fox's Jay Laser stops by with all the latest.
The only show he talked to on Fox Sports Radio
is us. The latest on the Detroit Lions victory over
the Cowboys, What it means, means other big stories in
(32:01):
the NFL next right here, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (32:11):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. You like points you love? Tonight's Thursday
night football game, the Lions beat the Cowboys forty four
point thirty thanks to three touchdowns from Jamiir Gibbs almost
one hundred and twenty total yards, a huge win for Detroit.
(32:32):
Joining us now in the hotline nobody better NFL on
Fox Insider Extraordinary Jay Glazier. He's on Twitter at Jay
Glazer J Happy Thursday, Man. How's it going?
Speaker 5 (32:43):
Oh'm doing great? Man? How you guys doing?
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Tell Buddy, I don't know. Are you doing as great
as Jamiir Gibbs? I don't about. I don't know anybody's
doing as good as Jamior Gibbs.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
The greatest m Gibsons right now, Mark Gibbs unbelievable. What
a mismatch he is for everybody. You know, it's interesting
also just you know, you see this flying team. You
know I was talking about culture, right, culture, coach and
culture and the culture of Dan Campbell brings fact that
they just won their fifteenth game after a loss. That
that is unreal. Like you know, other teams know they
(33:14):
lose and they start going downhill. Dan Campbell with that culture,
he's like, hey man, we're gonna make sure you talk
about correcting your mistakes and fixing your mistakes. There's nobody
obviously does it better for you to come back sixteen
losses in a row, will win the next time. That's unreal.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
And you know, and the thing is, it's kind of
apropos that he was at the game tonight because I
think Jamior Gibs is probably the closest thing we've seen
to Barry Sanders in the last fifteen years.
Speaker 5 (33:40):
No, no, no, no, no, no, there's nothing like but
Barry Sanders. Man, I listen, I covered the NFL back
Barry Sanders, and I remember actually was my here's my well,
my first piece of CBS this I think it was
(34:02):
my first week at CBS when he retired and I
had that the Lions were like trying to take his
money back. My first scoops ever had for a national lywork.
But man, you know, Covern Barry, I remember, you know,
being a giant practice and seeing all the years the
different people that they would put in practice to play
Barry Sanders, and it's like and then they had all
(34:25):
these different drills for Barry Sanders, was like, hey, you know,
playing Detroit this week, make sure there's four guys around
him and all that are like, hey, we're gonna have
you know, the the quickest little receiver is gonna play
Barry Barry Sanders. But the scout, it was unbelievable. I remember,
I forget it. I think it was stray handed and
told me he's like one time he like Barry never talks,
(34:46):
and I love Barry and I are great, like, you know,
we've become good friends, you know, and therese, you know,
since then, done a bunch of appearances. He's so humble,
he's like the most humble warrior and I think it
was straighthand I'm pretty sure. And Michael, you know, sorry,
but he said, like you know, he's like, man, there's
like a highlight that like I got Barry kind of
want to want to tackle him. And I was like, yeah,
(35:07):
I got start talking smack and Barry said, I'll be
right back. And Michael, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
That sounds about right. That's that's the guy.
Speaker 6 (35:19):
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Barry Sanders response, Sorry, mister Sanders. He went, yeah, mister Sanders.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
I'll be right back. I'm sorry, mister Sanders.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
The impressive part of this one's Jay.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
They kept Jared Goff clean, did a lot of talk
about the Dallas defense and the rise up. Uh they
got humbled tonight forty four on them and and the
Clean Jersey Club for Jared Goff.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
Yeah, I think you know of to find do a
great job. By the way, Frank ragnow like wow, he's
unbelievable because you know he's gonna come back right and
you know Frank ragnow he has a different like pain
threshold than the rest of the planet. So you know,
he told the lines like yeah, he's got this little
hamstring twins, you know, nothing big, And they told the
(36:09):
m a riot and it's a complete hamstring tear, a
grade three, and his mind, he's like just a little twins.
I'm good like yo, there's just a little bulls. He
just grabbed a little like it was a complete grade
three tear. Just goes to show you the difference, you know,
Frank Brackno and everybody else. And his credit too. I
(36:30):
think he didn't want to, uh, just sit there and
take money and say I'm just just sit in and
get paid to recovery. He's a warrior. But once that
was off the table for them, they're like, all right,
we got to deal with what we got here. We
got to come together. There is no there's nothing else right,
there's no cavalry, right. The cavalry have to be in
this room right here. And they definitely stepped up him.
(36:51):
What they did to that defensive front was really impressive,
especially that that defensive tackle rotation they are going there.
You know, they got all those the tackles. So people
like Jamior Gibbs can't do what they did tonight.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
Now, Jay for the Cowboys, they have been red hot offensively,
still a nice night offensively. Tonight they lose c D Lamb.
You know, concussion protocol for him. How do you see
the next month for the Dallas Cowboys? Are they still
arrow up? Are they still hey? The Cowboys? Still the Cowboys?
How do you see it after tonight?
Speaker 5 (37:19):
First of all, I've been to Cowboys. Look kewboys have
been through a lot this year, all right, so we
have looked. They like to be the greatest reality show
in the league. They have that, right, but sometimes it
wears on you. I feel like tonight they kind of
caught up from a little bit, right, and they've been
through a lot. And I say, they've been through a lot,
but well, let's go back to the preseason. We bought
all Michael Parsons, right, so you had all that. Yeah,
(37:42):
you're dealing with right, they have the defense and obvious
see all the trades, but obviously mars on neland and
I think with marson neland the team end up coming together.
I thought what they did was what Brian Schottenheimer did,
and Dak and Solomon Thomas and everybody in our locker room.
Mad I I really think that, you know, they came together.
You know, I said it this weekend. There's only a
(38:03):
couple of times of life you really get to find
out who you truly are as people, and they did
by coming together and they have and now this loss
has nothing to do with it. It's just how they
responded the last few weeks. But I you know, it's
almost like tonight I just saw like a team who
looked a little bit tired from just you know, I
shouldn't say. Look, they played on you know, Thanksgiving, had
(38:26):
emotional you know game there, they have emotional a couple
of weeks. It just seems a little off to me tonight.
And they have a Detroit Lions team. Dan Campbell's back
against the wall. I think you're gonna get everything thrown
at you.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Yeah, a couple of big plays by the defense tip
balls to and one to seal the win. Another thing
that the the narratives and and everybody coming out of
the woodwork, including former players. Uh in Steeler Land with
Mike Tomlin, Uh, we're at that point in the season
again for him where everybody's.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Now calling calling his head.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Uh, you know, hows he responded, you know, these final
a couple of games here with the a little bit
of a different makeup for this offense and where the
team is.
Speaker 5 (39:11):
Look, they still got obviously the horses over there if
they want to do it. They're still in contention for
the title. But you know, I just you know it's
to hear everybody coming with the fire Tomlin chance, like,
can this guy's giving you, you know, two decades of
no losing seasons and you know, a fuck through a
lot of things to continue building that culture over there.
(39:31):
That bothered me a little bit. But did a bother him? No, Like,
he's just like just Mike Tomlin is a like the
amount of times the thing bothers him over the years.
I mean I could probably count him on like one hand,
maybe maybe three fingers. Like things he don't get to him.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer, that is at Jay
Glazer Jay as always, Buddy, appreciate your time, Thanks for
stopping by tonight. We'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 5 (39:59):
Have a.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Mister, mister Sanders, mister, I'll be right back.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I'll be right back.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Look, I've had the great opportunity to sit, sit down
and chat with Barry Sanders. There are times where you
can get him to start rolling and he starts having
these memories and he gives you a three minute story.
There are other times where you get very much that.
Uh why he and Harold Bayn's two of my favorites.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Just go to work. I'll be right back. Oh I
I pissed off Barry Sanders, Damn make.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Me look silly out here on the edge the next time.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
This is not gonna go well for me. I'm just sorrd.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
I gonna imagine. There were plenty of guys that did
that right.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
They got him once.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
But yeah, yeah, that story is.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
Coming right back to I'll be back around again sometimes
on the same play. Don't wry, I'm coming back. I'll
be out here, but I'm coming all the way back
to your side, right back, just to make you look foolish.
We got more on Thursday Night Football, but coming up
next a Titanic Night in the n B A for
Lebron James, but not why you think that's next box
