Speaker 2 (00:22):
Every you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Welcome inside final hour tonight Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon. Uh second hour of our
NFL Draft twenty twenty five post night coverage, and boy
were there are a lot of fireworks tonight. And it's
crazy that the main topic of conversation continues to be

(00:52):
the guy who didn't get taken at all, a Natchador Sanders,
which is not surprised. Which is not surprising when you
think about how well every day for the last three
weeks leading up to the draft, like we told you
there's gonna be a new Sha Dur Sanders story every day. Well,
you can't do a story about a guy every day
and have not get taken. And then yeah, I know
we're blowing past him. Not gonna talk about him. He's

(01:12):
not write it.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Up, but uh now, let's talk about these No, you're
not gonna do it, because what sells if it bleeds,
it leads, and right now it's bleeding.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
So it's like poor Zingis's head.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Oh oh absolutely, yeah, except without getting the bandage on it.
It's like we're just gonna let it continue to bleed.
It's like he got bladed, like he's he's dusty roads.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yeah, get bladed, and I'm gonna hide the razor blade
right here into my sweat.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Hey, hey, hey, sorry.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
So I was like telling, come on, if the Giants
were the big winners tonight, and again it looks like
they're back. And I hate to say this, but I
have to give them credit. They flip the narrative from
last off season where they were an absolute laughing stock.
We let Saquon even though Saquon Barkley was never gonna
run for two thousand yards. Of the Giants. You watch

(01:59):
them go to a division rival that the owner says
I don't want to see him go to, and he
goes there and he wins a super Bowl, So I
get it, but they flip the narrative. They get the
big edge Rusher. They need an Abdul Carter who's terrific.
They get the quarterback they need and Jackson Dart who
can develop at whatever pace you want to behind Russell Wilson.
It can be long, it can be medium, it can
be immediate. The Giants are back. Beating up on the

(02:22):
Giants is not gonna last much longer. But if there's
a winner of the draft, you know there's a team
that's a loser now before we get to the team,
because it involves youdor Sanders. Here's Sanders talking to the
media not too long ago after not being selected in
the first round, and what he had to say about
what he saw tonight and what we could wind up
seeing tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
We all didn't expect this, of course, but I feel
like we gods. Anything possible, everything possible. I don't feel
like this happened, you know, for no reason. Allis is is,
of course, feuds to the fire and under no circumstances.
We all know this going to happen, but we understand
we own.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
The bigger and better things.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Tomorrow's the day we're gonna be happy to regard. That's
it there.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I like he said, we all know it shouldn't happen,
then ends with legendary.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Yes, it sounds like political concession. Legendary. Let me address
you all.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I don't I know we didn't get the results we
wanted tonight.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
That you know, that might be my new.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Favorite phrase that involves the word legendary, because for years
my favorite phrase was was after I hear it, I
take get back to this.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
It was after the.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Steelers Cardinal super Bowl, right where the Steelers won. Roethlisberger
takes him down to the big drive, the touchdown pass Senteni.
So after the super Bowl, he's on set on ESPN
and Steve Young is talking to him, and Steve Young says, Ben,
I want to tell you, when I watched what you
did tonight on that last drive, my heart I was

(03:52):
like the Grinch where it grew like eight sizes. It was,
it was, And Steve Young's having a tough time finding
words like it's really emotional, it's a great So Steve
Young is like it was, it was, and Rothlisberger just
says legendary. He just wrote what I was legendary. Yes,
what we do is legendary, legendary, legendary.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
I'm sure it's on social media somewhere, So you got legendary.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Legendary. I hear the word.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Evidently, and I go back to a Harold Bain's home run. Boy,
you really got that one.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Harold.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
There was a twenty five inning game that he ended
with a home run to dead center field that just
kept going and that was the way the guy set
it up. And he goes, boy, you really got all
that one, evident. Thanks for coming events, Hey, I appreciate it. Yeah,
kind of like my interview with Joe Douglas legendary up
on social which is legendary Fox Sports Radio on Twitter.
You'll see my my inn me getting to talk to

(04:42):
Joe Douglas in between shows tonight.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
But legendary, right, so I know we'll be back tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Legendary, like I love, and I want to give him
a lot of credit because I didn't think we'd hear
from him. I thought, the way the night is going
watching him fall through the draft, we're not going to
see him on he ESPN or NFL network, We're not
gonna hear from at the end. They're gonna wait, it's
gonna be radio silence. So I give him a lot
of credit for talking about it. Still I'm still me
it shouldn't happened legendary, but I give him credit for

(05:10):
talking and men putting out of state. But in the
end he has to right because if one of the
big criticisms is you don't have any bit of humility
to you, your hubris is what might have been part
that of what led to your fall, right pride before
the fall to stand up and and go to it.
And since I use the Dusty Rhodes thing, I can't

(05:32):
use another wrestler, so because sometimes you need to be
humbled and if you know, you know, But it's it's
that idea that having the speech. Now that last line
kind of cuts away. Yeah, but you still to address
the people because you got a big party, right, you
had that little isolation photo photo booth like you were

(05:54):
at prom and then I kind of like that where
they stop and put the hat on. Long walk through
the corridor though, like you need to be that line.
You have all the logos wall like at least people
up so you can shake some hands, take some photos.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
A long that's a long run. I'm glad.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
I'm glad they all decided to sprint because I'm like,
if we had to watch them walk that would boy,
this draft to go like five and a half hours,
it's a long way to go.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Are crocs really good for running? Because had those on?
I mean, yeah, diamond crusted because they think if you
start losing jewels off those and you had to return them,
be problem.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
That's true, That's true. I mean I you know, when
I saw those, I thought back. You know when we
went to California Adventure on Monday night, Yeah, the whole
big iHeart night. So I went into the Avengers store
and they had Captain America crocs with the wings on
the back. I was like, oh, I gotta have those,
but they didn't have my size. I was like, if
you have any in the back, No, sir, there's no back.
I'm like, what do you mean there's no back? What

(06:47):
do you mean there's no back? Well we have it's out.
I thought my.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Kids a pair that I saw online, and they threatened
to disown me if I bought them.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Oh, no, you gotta you gotta say. You know why
the Yellow Submarine be here? Say I do me? I
do me? The Yellow Submarine crocs DJ, We're all here
in Harmon's Yellow Crocks.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
So if there's a winner in the draft. I give
you Doris Sanders a lot of crack, and I'm sure
we're gonna hear his damon again. I said it last.
I'm absolutely stunned he felt all the way through the
first round.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
I can't. I knew he'd fall, I thought.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
But at some point, hey, someone's gonna come up and
the slide's gonna stop at twenty one because the Steelers
clearly are gonna.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Say, hey, look at what we did. We're getting our quarterback.
You all didn't know.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
You all questioned me and Mike Tomlin's gonna come out,
when more CON's gonna come out, they'll be patting themselves
on the back.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
We got our guy. We got them later on in
a value pick.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
All the blah blah blah, We're gonna get you, Doris Sanders,
and it's just gonna work out for the Steelers. Except
when the Steelers come up at number twenty one, they decide, no, no, no,
we want a guy named Harmon instead.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
With the twenty first pick in the twenty twenty.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
Five NFL Draft, Hobo, the Pittsburgh Steelers select well Derek
Harman defensive tackle Oregon.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Harmon Jersey's on order Babymon out of Oregon.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Let's go arman, arman, and I love the Steelers reaction
after is they said, hey, we didn't take a we
didn't take a quarterback. But GMO Mark Cohn said no, no,
we weren't tempted. We were on the clock. We got
the player that we wanted. That's the guy they went,

(08:24):
okay at twenty one, all right, not not in the
top five, not one of the top five pays. We
got a guy at twenty one, a guy that we wanted.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
All right.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Let's just understand for a second. The Steelers are the
big losers of the draft tonight, and at this if
it was any other team, fans would be rioting. We
have Mason Rudolph and Skyler Thompson are our quarterbacks. This
is now the second year in a row you decided
to go bargain basement dumpster diving for quarterbacks. It didn't
work last year. And yet you treat the quarterback position,

(08:55):
which is, oh, by the way, last time I checked,
hang on, still the most important position on the football
You say, legend still the legendary going back to Ben Roethlisberger,
of course, still the most important position on the football field,
and the Steelers are treating it like it's a necessary
evil at this point, Omar Kahn, Mike Tomlin, unless they
have a rabbit they're gonna pull out of the hat.

(09:15):
Unless they have some sort of secret plan that none
of us know about and they pull it off. I
mean it's time to say, guys, I think the NFL
has passed you by. It's time for new leadership. It's
time for a new GM and a new head coach
because you've decided to take the most of it. The
only thing your team needs, the only thing you need
is a quarterback. And you've decided, now going on the
last three since you replaced Roethlisberger, we're gonna go really

(09:39):
bargain basement on this. Like again, this is any other team,
and it's what are they? This is malpractice, this is NFL.
If the Jets did this, what people say? If the
Raiders did this, what would people say? But the Steelers. No,
Clearly the Steelers don't know what they're doing because they
they have no plan as far as how do we
win in the NFL In twenty twenty five, Mike Tomlin

(09:59):
still thinks I'm gonna win like it's nineteen eighty seven,
where he had a couple of running backs are and
he give the ball a lot to We got a
couple of weapons at wide receiver. We'll throw it when
we need to. We're gonna play great defense, and that's
how we're gonna win. It's not how it works. And
for Tomlin, you would think last year would have been
a bit of an ego check that. Okay, I went
all in on Russell Wilson. No, Russell's our guy. Remember
all last year. There's a reason why Russell Wilson, Russell Wilson,

(10:22):
Russell Wilson. No, no, no, no, no, no, Russell Wilson,
Russell Wilson. And what happened gone. He was a reason
why you were terrible down the stretch and you were
just running on vapors at the end. You had a
quarterback that had one games for you, none of we're
gonna stick with Justin Fields. No, not that Justin Fields
might have done more, but you went in saying, hey,
we're gonna bargain basement Justin Fields and bargain basement Russell Wilson,

(10:44):
and that's gonna work. Okay, it didn't work. Okay, let
let me learn my lesson. Let's make sure we get
a quarterback. No, no, nope, we're gonna bring back Mason
Rudolph and we're gonna have Skylett Thompson. And that's it,
I mean, barring again, a secret plan that none of
us know about. I mean, I'm not on Pete Heggs's
signal chats, so maybe the it's on there. But unless
you unless, unless you have that, this is absolutely I mean,
this is how to not run a football team.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
No, and that that's the curiosity. Obviously, they've got to
look at their defensive interior. Guys are getting a little
longer in the tooth, right, Heyward, toward the end, I
think you're just mad that it wasn't a guy named
Smith and that it was a guy named Harmon, and that.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Really cheesed you. No, no, I don't care. I think
you're a little salty if it need.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
To be Smith. I mean, who's who are they gonna
take Smith? You're gonna trade for Gino Smith? Gee, Geena,
g Gino's gotten toils.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
I'm glad. I'm glad that got hard.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
But now, but you gotta be okay with people in
Pittsburgh going, oh, you know, I just can't stand Harmon
we could have had Shador Sanders and now we could
have had Harmon Blank Harmon, I hate that guy.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Can you let's do the radio show he's on because
his name is Harmon. I'm gonna go out of lamb.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
And there have been a bunch of folks that have
already said that in Pittsburgh many many a year with
my guys Tounch and Wolf for in Pittsburgh, both not
no longer with us, so good thoughts there. But when
we look at what the Steelers they've been linked to,
potentially Kirk Cousins, you still have the balloon floating out

(12:07):
of whether Aaron Rodgers shows up or not.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
And again, if he wanted to be there, he would
be there, right. I believe Dadante's Pallas right. Davont Adam
said the best thing when he said, Hey, what's Aaron
waiting for? Because he and he and Aaron are tight.
He's waiting for someone to show that they love him, right,
because that's what Aaron Rodgers want.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Sure He's sure is nothing.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
That was the biggest truth bomb that we saw all
last week. And are the Steelers showing Aaron Rodgers that
they is anybody showing Rogers that they love him. No,
So if you don't love me, I'm gonna sit out
here and maybe my career is done, but I'm gonna
come back.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
You gotta love me.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
And the Steelers aren't suddenly gonna love him. They could
have loved him a few weeks ago. They're not gonna
suddenly love him now. It's not gonna happen. Once you
get out of the draft and you start getting in
new off season workouts in earnest, then then maybe your
affections will start taking on the form of I don't
know Michael Rappaport in Beautiful Girls, because until he was

(13:01):
faced with the idea that he was gonna lose his girl,
he ain't care. And then all of a sudden he
got the newest type of diamond they called the Champagne
and things brown. Okay, thanks Brown, And that's what it
might take for con and for for Mike tom and
just to realize they need to get the brown rock.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
I mean, they bring Aaron Rodgers along.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
They're absolutely mismanaging the quarterback again. I do have to
say it's the draft isn't over yet. We still have
some time to go. Kirk Cousins is still out there
there could be some things happening. You could wait and
see where quarterbacks wind up going tomorrow, because tomorrow is
gonna be the day for Milroe and Sanders.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
And you know, Okay, so there's that. Okay, Kyle McCourt shut, Okay,
that's fine. But right now I look at the Steelers
like really like there needs to be an intervention. Well,
but the big you understand, this is the And I
get that you had a rough time, like tom I'm
dealing with Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown and you had
Ben Roethlisberger for over a decade, I'm sure, but this
is how you win in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
You can't do it the way you've been trying to do.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
It well the last few years. Just an abject failure
in that regard. But they win games, so they would
tell you the proof is in the record. Right, You're
as good as your record is. You don't have to
make it so hard.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
No, But the Steelers is not about Hey, here's a record,
and we get and make it to the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
That's the Jets, right, that's the Raiders. Hey we win,
we make it to the playoffs. Oh my god, it's amazing.
But that's what they become the Steelers, but it's still this. Hey,
we're one of the top two or three franchises of
the entire game, and success for US is AFC championships
and Super Bowls. Now, maybe they don't realize they haven't
been there in a while, but that's still the measuring

(14:38):
bar of success. And now, okay, now you're telling me, oh,
for the Steelers being over five hundred and maybe getting
in and losing a playoff game, that's success not for them,
but of late.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
They're just a better version of the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Oh wow, Now you're trading on stuff that happened many,
many years ago.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Pittsburgh gonna love you after that. You're done, Ma, damn right,
you guys.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Sometimes, as Tyser original podcast seven Iterations ago was called,
you need a reality check.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
And you need to remember you can't just keep living
in the past. Damn it.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
He just said we were a little bit better than
the Raiders. I wanna go find that guy. I'm gonna go.
You know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go buy something,
some memorabilia and sell it to him. I'm gonna rip
the card in half and mail it to him and
go on. I shouldn't have said that about our guys,
but he said.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Are we really contenders? Are we not? Well, we were
above five hundred a week, kind of make the playoffs.
Every now and then.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Someone someone from Pittsburgh gonna email you and so I
have a mint condition Paul knerko rookie card for a dollar.
You're gonna send them a dollar. They're gonna send you
riped card and say, oh blank, you harmon, that's what's
gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
I actually kind of hope that does. I mean, a
good story, but just you know, put the button on it.
The Steelers for years with Roethlisberger, I mean, how many
years was he over forty two hundred yards? And if
you did a per game basis on his yards per game,
you know when he actually played because he'd missed some games,
he missed halves of games. Oh no, Roethlisberger's done. Oh wait,

(15:58):
he's taking the code off.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
He's back. You ate a lot of talent passed through there, right,
pass catchers, there was a lot of talent. They were
all nuts, but you had a lot of talent passed
through there. And now you're in a division where you
can't keep wishing and hoping at the quarterback position. So
there's got to be a plan. Tell me you have
a plan. Exit? How about these Marines are on trial

(16:22):
for their lives. Exit?

Speaker 1 (16:23):
How about a Fresca exit swollen dumb? Tell me you
haven't been their hopes to a phone bill? Straight ahead?
What team after tonight is continuing to have a perfect
off season? One team is very quietly throwing a perfect
game since the end of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Who is it?

Speaker 1 (16:44):
We'll tell you next right here, Jason and Mike Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with ma My
best Friend Mike Harmon. So, what team is having a
perfect off season? Gauge in a perfect game this offseason?
We'll tell you in a second. But first, as we
told you, we talked about this leading up this this
whole last week and a half, we found out former
Jets GM Joe Douglas was gonna be in studio doing

(17:19):
the Draft Show before right had the Draft Show before
with he and Jay Glazer and Jenny Taft and LeVar Arrington.
You know here that we then we start with the
post show right after the first round is over, Like,
how was I How was I gonna talk to him?

Speaker 4 (17:31):
What was I gonna say? Was it gonna be weird?
What's Joe Douglass gonna do? Whatever?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
So I came in tonight going all right, well, I
gotta be able to say hi to Joe Douglas and
see him. So of course I wore my Jets hoodie.
And of course I wore my Jets hoodie. In would
have been ashamed of you.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Yeah, yeah, I had to wear my Jets the amount
you normally wear Jets or Mets gear. Yet you kind
of had do for tonight.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
So we rolled, you know, we rolled a video on this.
We put it up.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
It's up on social media right now, Fox Sports Radio
on Twitter, also on our accounts out how about a
fresco at Swollen Dome.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
You can see it. Here is the quick meeting that
I was able to. The show's ending, right, Joe Douglas
is leaving and we're coming on here. There's like five
minutes in between shows. We got to get ready to go,
and uh, this was my meeting with Joe Douglas, and
I think it was it was it was fine in
the end.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
It was as awkward as I thought it was going
to be. And and and he turned out to be
a great guy. So here's me meeting Joe Douglas.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Hey, Jason, Jeff, how you doing great?

Speaker 6 (18:29):
Great?

Speaker 3 (18:30):
Good?

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Is this's awkward as are?

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Okay, No, we're good. We're good, brother, Yeah, out, we're fine.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Good good.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
So, hey, so you know they do the names on
the diet folks. Now, yeah, and I got Garrett and
since you drafted him, and thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
You signed my dick.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
Okay, I mean, I have a shark, but you's the plus.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
Sure, okay, just you know, just just right there, just
your name. You know, Jason, You're great. Love you love
the you know everything else.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
That's great.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
I appreciate that work. All right, all right, so thanks?
Uh let okay, all right, great you to say no
say no right, all right? We have a good one man.
All right, all right, all right, but he ran out.

(19:24):
I couldn't ask about Zack Wilson. I read.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
I thought about it at the end. Oh yeah, Zach
Wilson's mom and the whole time. But I thought about
it too.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Late well, asking about Zach Wilson, his mom or Brick
and any interactions with you, Brick would.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Have been important, and and and the thing is now
the Dia cookey signed, I stopped drinking, Yeah you did?

Speaker 3 (19:43):
You put a cap on it now and I'm like,
I got to hold onto it. Maybe I can sell
it on eBay. It's got to maybe I can, right,
Joe Douglass. The thing is is that you gave me.
I borrowed the sharpie from Yeah, it's a silver sharpie,
and he signed it on the silver the Dia coke
bottle of silver, so you can't really see.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
Yeah, I'm gonna call what it is.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
I had no idea what you were going to try
to have him sign when you said, hey, I need
a sharpie, I'm gonna go, uh say hi, did Joe Douglas.
I was like, okay, So I thought you were gonna
go to your your sweatshirts, my jets, hoodie's are I
didn't show that silver would have actually played pretty well
above the chest plate.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
Now you tell something I should have known, but I
didn't know what you were doing.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
But I seemed barely out there, and I left saying hey,
Joe signed my chest seemed a little bit much. Never
paint the face actually signed my arm. I'm gonna have
it tattooed. But I like the fact that the Dia
Cokes are back now with the names on.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
And I got Garrett tonight, and I'm like, well, Garrett, Garrett,
well he drafted. He brought a lot of talent in.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Man.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
There's a lot of good young talent on that Jets team, man,
thanks to Joe Douglas. And I said, hey, signed my
Garrett die Cox. O. Okay, how about you say, hey, Joe,
you did a really good job. What happened after September
seventh or eighth each year he did that was some
of the like on paper every year it's been. And
it's not me wishing good things for you.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
You look at the.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Roster, you're like, all right, there might be one or
two places, and look, I'm always concerned about offensive line.
So you always laugh at me anyway, but it proved
true multiple times with your team in particular. But otherwise
you're like, all right, I like the cornerbacks. You got
some talent there. You got a good safety. You drafted
Garrett Will So you had Bryce Hall.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
I mean, you had this and you know all of
this could work together, and then it didn't that two
years ago, it's broke. It's broke.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
When Jester and Top Gun tells Maverick that was some
of the best flying I've seen yet, right up until
the part where you got killed like that. Yeah, it's great,
Joe Douglas, good dude. Again, the videos up there you
can see at the bets. Obviously, it's a lot better
when you can see, yeah, my chet's hoodie. Hey, how
you doing.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Man. The other thing is if you actually had a
plaque that you'd put up in the in this studio
over the last couple of years. As Jason Smith declares
that offseason winter he.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Won a bunch oh yeah yeah, off.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Season champion, it should be hey, look your names up
here for offseason champion. Joe said that, Joe d Joe,
that might have gotten you punch Jody, Joe Dye.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
Off seasons champion still a chance, and it's his job, Like,
that's just champ.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
You're in season, you know, like like Andy said on
The Office, I just got out of anger management training,
management training, So it's off season title is still a title,
still a Victory odd Now who had and is continuing
to have a perfect off season. That team is our
play of the day for over forty years, tire racksmen

(22:31):
helping customers find the right tires for how, what and
where they drive, shipped fast and free, backed by free
road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation.
Tire rack dot Com is the way tire buying should
be the play.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
Of the night.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
This pick from the NFL draft because this team is
having a perfect off season from twenty twenty four to
twenty twenty five. With the six pick in the twenty
twenty five NFL drafts, the Las Vegas Raiders select Ashton
genty running back boys. He saying, I mean, really, the teams,

(23:07):
you know, these teams. When I say, you know, I
believe you know, Yeah, when I begrudgingly have to give
you know, credit to the Giants, you know, I feel it.
The Raiders are in the middle of a perfect off season.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Okay, And it's so anti Raiders because Raiders usually, hey,
we get everything wrong. But think about where they've been, right,
they've been. They've been a dumpster fire for the last year.
I took continue to cycle through things right. The Antonio
Pierce the first year had a little bit of promise.
Last year was terrible, you know, and it really did
cratered with losing the game. All Aidan O'Connell's got to
do is catch the snap from center, but instead it

(23:41):
hits him in the mask and.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
They fumble in the Chiefs. That's the Raiders franchise in
one play. But what have they done? What have we
seen since the endish of the season into this? Tom
Brady comes in as part owner. You know, he's advising
spy Tech.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
Spy Tech.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
It's the greatest surname, and especially especially with you know,
spygates spy Tech. They work well together. Spy Tech is like,
I know all your tricks, Brady, I know them all.
But Brady comes in, you know, he has the ear
of Mark Davis. You know, he's got a big imprint
on the team. There's a lot worse guys to have
that are advising you in any kind of role than
Tom Brady. Okay, so what do they do. They go

(24:20):
and get a head coach and Pete Carroll who will
stop the backsliding. That's what they need to do. Hire
a coach with a cachet that knows what it is
to build a program to sustain winning. Not that it's
gonna happen overnight, but you need to stop the backsliding.
And you brought in a guy with two Super Bowls
on his resume and won a Super Bowl championship. Nobody
thought he's gonna jump to the NFL. He was great

(24:41):
in college. This is the guy to come in to
build up a program, and you know he's gonna build
it up quickly because of Pete Carroll's seventy four He's
not gonna sid here, say hand, We've got a five
year plan.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
And then this is so you bring in the right
head coach.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
You go out and get the quarterback that has worked
with the system that Pete Carroll has been running for
the past few years. In Seattle, he said Gino Smith.
Everybody else said, why Geno Smith? Drew Locke at least
has a little bit more upside. No, Geno Smith is
my guy. What do we see Geno Smith through the
last few years. He has shown that he is dynamic,
he is a leader, he can make plays, he can
have four hundred yard games. Right, is he one of

(25:14):
the best quarterbacks in the NFL. It's one of the
top five.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
No is he.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Periphery top fifteen? Yeah, and you know what you can
win with guys like that. Now you went and you
solidified your quarterback position for the next three years. It's
a bad year for quarterbacks of the draft. You went
out and get Geno Smith, All right, what else did
you do?

Speaker 4 (25:30):
Well?

Speaker 1 (25:30):
You have the rising brock Bowers obviously, and now you
bring in the best running back in the draft in
Ashton Genty. And this is an incredible coup for the
Raiders that I thought, Look, they were probably biting their
nails hoping he was gonna still be there at six,
because clearly, you know, four to five that was gonna
be maybe the sweet spot for Gent. But Patriots went
with the ot and then the big trade from two

(25:51):
to five probably took you out of seeing Gent go
at five. So all of a sudden, you can need
a little bit of luck. Sometimes the Raiders got a
little bit luck. They get the best running back in
the drafted guy who is incredible. And I heard one
of the analysts talk about, you know, trying to tackle
ash and Genty is like trying to throw rocks in
a tank, right, And that's a great way to describe

(26:13):
his playing style. He is the other playmaker that you
wanted in this draft outside of Travis Hunter. He's that guy.
And the Raiders, they are continuing a perfect off season.
I can't believe it, but they have decided, Okay, the
backsliding stops, and now, hey, beating up on the Raiders.
Just like I said, beating up on the Giants, that's
gonna end soon. Beating up on the Raiders is gonna
be done soon. Brady to Pete Carroll to Gino Smith

(26:35):
to Ash and Genty, they are coming back.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Man.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
There is no team that has made more strides in
the off season from the end of twenty twenty four
to now than the Raiders. It's continuing to be a
perfect game. When I get to the bottom, I go
back to the top. Right, just talking about the Steelers
of living on yesteryear. Look at all those Super Bowls
we won.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
It's been a.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Minute, yeah, been a minute, Yeah, Raiders. The greatness of
the Raiders in the last really great run was rich
Gannon and Jerry Rice. Jerry Rice is a member of
the Raiders all those years ago. But now you're you're
climbing in the division. You've got a long way to go.
Look at what the Chiefs have been Uh. They make

(27:16):
that trade at the back of the the first round.
They add an offensive lineman, which is an obvious area
of need with that trade they made with Philly. Uh.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
And then you look.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
At the the Moroncos and the Chargers who made more strides.
We'll get deeper into, you know, the analysis of the
rest of the first round as we move on tomorrow,
and what we see for rounds two and three. And
that's for the Raiders. It'll be interesting again. I harp
on the offensive line play, which was better down the stretch.
They had more juice at the end of the season,

(27:48):
but you know, they re signed the guys they needed to.
You add Punch and Genty the the trade I really
was waiting for for Cleveland to trade back again, whether
was Chicago, We're just gonna keep traving, but for Andrew
Berry to suddenly have you know, another three or four
picks because the Bears or the Cowboys or whoever wanted

(28:10):
to come up and get Ashton Genty. You know, we
talked about it a lot. You can find the podcast
wherever you listen to your audio. But instead you have
Graham Goes fifth to Cleveland, leaving the door open for
for genty and to become an immediate hero alongside Bowers. Right,
here's your face of the franchise. We've talked about Gino
for a long time since he was a reclamation project

(28:31):
and Pete Carroll's guy in Seattle. They had their bond.
So when he got the contract with the Raiders, like
all right, stability, so you can say, Okay, this guy's
not a bridge, right, And that's the big, big point
when we're talking about Bridges and all these other locales.
Gino Smith's their guy. He's Pete Carroll's guy for whatever

(28:51):
I think the duration of Pete Carroll's coaching stint.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Is, and he will end with Gino Smith as his quarterback.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
If it goes three years. They make the best of it.
So what do you do? You bring in playmakers? They
still have a number of draft picks to go four
to five the rest of it. But you have a
good defensive front, You've got a couple of pieces on
your offensive line, and then your receiving corps was sneaky good.
You just didn't have a quarterback to use it last year.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
The one thing I will say that I kind of
sort of wanted to see them pick Ty Warren or
Colson Lovelin just to take another tight end first round.
I really wanted to see duel actually, you know, tag
team champions. But again, Colson Lovely, you talked about Graham Lovelly.
Michigan had three players taken in the top thirteen of
the NFL draft. If that's not another late reminder of

(29:39):
just how badly they biffed twenty twenty four by not
having a quarterback. I know even more than that. You
have a tight end. Go it's ten, you as the
first tight end, taking guys, three guys in the top thirteen,
but because you didn't get a quarterback, you wound up saying,
well we beat Ohio State. Great, it could have been
another championship year.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Yes, you lost people to the NFL, but you have
three guys in the top third teen and you stunk
one of the things coming into the draft, and I
saw it tweeted out Jay Glazer had it and something
we had kind of been been knocking around. But certainly
give jays love Joel klad a little bit is the
idea that stats in the box scorers really mattered to
a whole other degree. No for leveling and all these

(30:18):
other guys, like, does the guy fit what we do?
Does he have the you know, the body type, the
skills set, the want to uh that we need going forward,
because clearly they didn't get anything out of the passing
game at Michigan last year. Yet there you go in
the top ten, Exit up out of Fresca, Exit Swallen Dome.
Jason Smith, Mike Harman live from the tirerack dot Com studios.

(30:41):
Time not to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports, but guy who's been called the twenty
twenty two for Michigan quarterback because we can't find him anywhere.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
It seemed to say he's gonna say he's gotten viserable, Right.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
They should have tried to acquire Tom Brady. He's still
had eligibility. I'm sure he still had something.

Speaker 7 (30:58):
Yeah, they find a way. By the way, what the
team has gone the longest in the NFL without using
a first round selection on a quarterback. It's still the
New Orleans Saints since they took Archie Manning in nineteen
seventy one. Some people were saying, you know, Saints in
the top ten, they might you know, the car injury
that no No, they got Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks

(31:20):
right afted by the way Michigan tight end Colston Loveland
to the Bears. Later, Colts got tight end from Penn State,
Tyler Warren quarterback taking number one overall. University of Miami
senior cam Ward to the Tennessee Titans. As expected. At
number two overall, the Browns traded out. Jacksonville gets Travis
Hunter of Colorado. Then Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter

(31:41):
went to the Giants at three. Later in the first round,
the Giants traded up to get quarterback Jackson Dart of
Old miss but the Giants immediately say Russell Wilson will
be starting.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
By the way.

Speaker 7 (31:51):
Also in the first round, the Raiders get running back
ash and gent Boise State, Carolina gets Arizona wide receiver
Ten Row with McMillan and Colorado quarterbacks Shdor Sanders has
not yet been selected. In fact, among the offensive players
still out there for tomorrow when we get rounds two
and three. The rest of the draft will be on Saturday,
but still out there not only Sanders, but quarterbacks Jalen

(32:15):
Milroe and Tyler Schuck also available. Running backs Trevion Henderson,
Quinchawn Judkins, and Cam Scatibo. The NBA Playoffs had quite
a comeback at Memphis tonight, in fact, the largest halftime
deficit overcome to win any playoff game in league history.
Oklahoma City was down twenty six at the half and
still won at Memphis one fourteen, one oh eight, with

(32:37):
the obvious note in small print at the end that
when John Moran got hurt the Grizzlies were up twenty
seven late first half, he limped off after a fall
a bruised tip did not return. Shay Giljis Alexander thirty
one points for the winners. Memphis scored exactly no points
in the last four and a half minutes of this game.
In fact, Memphis was up sixty nine to forty late

(32:58):
in the first half. Are now down three games to
none in this first round series to the thunder. New
York up two games to one after winning at Detroit
one eighteen to one sixteen. Karl Anthony Towns thirty one points,
Jalen Brunson with thirty. The Knicks in a close game
were great at the foul line twenty six of twenty nine.
By the way, New York will play two exhibitions in
Abu Dhabi against Philadelphia in early October. The Clippers are

(33:21):
up two games to one after ripping Denver one seventeen
to eighty three. Nikola Jokic with another triple double. The
rest of his team shot thirty five percent from the floor.
Boston's Jason Tatum is doubtful again for Friday due to
his bruised wrist. The league's defensive player of the Year
as Cleveland's Evan Mobley. Atlanta's Dyson Daniels finished second in
the voting. NHL playoff wins for Minnesota, Florida and Saint Louis,

(33:44):
which whipped Winnipeg seven to two, so the Jets lead
in the series two games to one. Now Toronto up
three games to none and a first round or after
an overtime victory at Ottawa three to two. The late
ballgame went to the A's with two runs bottom of
the ninth, beating Texas four to three, Tampa Bay one.
In n ten innings at Arizona, Baltimore edge Washington two
to one the Angel's homer in the eights to win

(34:05):
four to three over Pittsburgh. Giants got two bottom of
the ninth to beat Milwaukee six' five and a doubleheader
suite For Kansas city Over.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Colorado back to, You thank, You.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Steve so you said The knicks are playing The sixers
In Abu dhabi next. Year that's correct pre Season, okay not.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
In dubai Inn Abu. Dhabi, yes, okay you know the
difference Between dubai And Abu. DHABI i could make a,
joke But i'll let go.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Ahead In dubai they don't like the, flintstones but people
In Abu dhabi.

Speaker 4 (34:32):

Speaker 7 (34:35):

come on off the?

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Though it proved that Unlike Oral herscheizer AND Jj, Reddick,
Yeah Joe douglas doesn't hate.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
You no, no, NO i did, yet yeah. No BUT
Jj redick hates me the most now LIKE i think
he hates me more Than. Oral he shows.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
Especially when The lakers go down in the first. Round,
oh it's going to be.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Terrible, Hee HEY, Jj Jason smith won six seven eight.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
Four, HEY i GOOD a question For you're gonna go
Full Fred? Willard what? HAPPENS i do my? WORK a
lot of people like that.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Show so tonight the draft we talked about this a.
Lot so much of it is About Shadoor sanders and
not getting.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Drafted so here he is after.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Tonight going into, tomorrow and he, says, hey we'll be
happy tomorrowever we end. Up, Right i'd Give hi a
lot of credit for giving a little post draft interview
where he talked about, it because CLEARLY i, thought, well
we're just not gonna hear from until he gets. Drafted
where will the fall end For Shadoor. SANDERS i will
tell you, This it will end very, quickly very, quickly

(36:42):
because The Cleveland browns will take him either at thirty
three or thirty. Six first four picks of the second
round Go, Browns, Texans, Titans browns. Now unless The saints
sitting at forty want to trade, Up he's gonna be
A brown and they're not gonna trade up with The.
Browns The browns are gonna get. Him The browns know

(37:03):
they need a, quarterback, Right they're not silly to, Think,
Hey Kenny pickett And Joe. FLEGO i, mean but to
Take Shador sanders now when you have two second round
picks very, early, right you got to pick at thirty
three and to pick at thirty. Six to take him
now is fine because Now sanders is a. Bargain and
If Shador sanders is not any, good it's much easier

(37:26):
to move on from. Him it's not a big franchise
mark of you don't know what you're, doing and we're
gonna fire, everybody because if you get him, wrong if
he stinks and you take him second, overall guess, what
that's how you lose. Jobs but if you take Sha
Door sanders in the second, round early in the second
round and he doesn't work, out, okay he's a second
round pick that doesn't work. Out second round picks don't work, out,

(37:47):
right that's how it. Goes you can have teams saying
all they want, to we love this guy at twenty.
Four it's a twenty. Four you can't really really love.
Him he's twenty. Four if he was, great he would
have been in the top ten to top, seven the top.
Five so you're still kind of throwing a Dark but
If sanders is, here you're talking about someone who is
on a second round contract and you're not spending a
lot of money on. That if he's not, good you
can move on pretty. Quickly now that he is a,

(38:09):
bargain he will come off the board very, quickly and
The browns clearly as much credit AS i give, them you,
know for hey understanding and playing the game a little.
Bit if they don't take him, tomorrow it's, like what
are you? Doing you, know we're just tanking on the,
season hoping that we get Arch manning and he walks.
Out so the slide For Shadora sanders and extremely early
in the second, round either at thirty three or thirty.

(38:31):
Six he is A cleveland brown and it's a good
quarterback room with a guy that won A Super bowl
by himself And Joe. Flacco a guy that got to
play in the last couple of minutes in A Super
bowl Of Kenny pickett And sanders is there to potentially
be the next.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
Guy so, okay plus one sixty.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Five he was to not get drafted in the first
round ahead of the first pick From Roger goodell and
all the announcement of the pageantry from, today it would
be shocking if he wasn't a member of The Cleveland browns.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
Because they would get two huge.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Hauls, right you get the identity that you've spoken, of,
right because here's the big splash and we got them
where we don't have that extra. Year, Right, yes it's
a control, year but it's also. A if it goes,
badly we're not. In and if he doesn't learn right,
away we don't have to insert him right. Away it's
the same Thing Jackson dart with The. Giants you're not

(39:22):
beholding to him right. Now Jameis, Winston Russell, wilson they
can go quarterback and If dart then eventually beats them
out or they, stink and you, say let's see what
the kid can.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Do, hey it's not saying it's a little different because
you traded back into the first round, again but you're
still at the back end Of. Jackson you're still at
the back end of the, round and you didn't have
to go all the way up to. Nine you can seven.
Already the thing is you can slow Play dart a
little bit more because he was in the first round
pick more than just. Yet but he's got to see the.
Field you can't not have him on the. Field, yeah,
NO i think he. Can he can read shorty. Year

(39:52):
but now you look at With Sudor, sanders expectations are now.
Lowered what a great opportunity and you fortified your defense
and you Have joe flaccom. Exit how about a front
Two Super bowl winning Quarterback Kenny, pikett baby, exit how
about A fresco? Exit Swollen? Dome The Jason Smith show
For Mike, Carmon we'll talk. Tomorrow looking back at rounds
