You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in Side Hour two The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Gee you Apple Original Films and Warner Brothers Pictures. F one.
The movie is a.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Heart pounding underdog story from the director of Top Gun,
Maverick F one. The movie starring Brad Pitt Seeing on
the biggest screen possible, only in theaters in Imax June
twenty seventh, rated PG thirteen. Mike and I got to
see it. Yes, see it on the biggest green possible.
It is incredibly intense. You will feel like you are
on the racetrack watching it. It's at really that, that's

(01:00):
how good it's Top Gun on wheels.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
That's kind of what add some one liners. Aavier bardam
getting after it with his usual snark, and you and
I we we were at the edge of our seats.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, I kept looking for the seat belt.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
And he plays sugar and he like, you know, moments
where he could have He carries that that that that
air pressure thing around. He just starts doing that to
people at something. That's how you gain an advantage in
the pit. No question about. Oh wow, he just got
rid of another pit crew man. Wow, there is that
air pressure right for their brain.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Big time soundtrack and we're gonna get to play he
Who's the greatest Sonny of all time?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Game is all done at the end of the Jason. Yeah,
I just want to make sure I heard you right. Yes,
did you say Brad Pitt is in this movie? Yes?
Is the star. I'm Shaye Wigham also in this movie.
Who Shaye?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Wait, he's in everything you like? Oh, that's the guy
that Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt and not the Pit with
Noah Wiley, not the Pit in the Pendulum by Edgard Poe.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Oh look at that one. That that's a good, good one.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
That wasn't a pick and the pendulum of the rhythm
and runs when I'm bending them a little bit of
new is Hamilton. Sure he's but He's also in Hamilton's edit. Yeah,
sure for stopping is it's mostly unseen. I mean you
got a lot of stuff going on. It's Brad Pitton
erasing and look at it's top gun on wheels. Man,
go see it. It is intense, same director, phenomenal movie.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
That's great. Right now.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
The Thunder lead the Pacers one, ten ninety seven with
about five and a half to go in the fourth quarter. Uh,
it was a two point game just moments ago. However, Uh,
what was known as the TJ. McConnell game about ten
minutes ago.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Oh yeah, you were starting to get all memed up,
people putting Lebron James jerseys on him, Superman Cape, you
name it.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
It's now the Jalen Williams game, just like that Jalen
Williams we had, Yeah, the Jordan Flu game and now
the Jalen Williams game. So we go right for the
Jordan Flu Jaalen Williams. Jalen Williams thirty seven points, thirty
seven in a row for the Thunder tonight, thirty seven
to five and four. He's got three threes as well.
That's more threes and a lot. Wiggins off the bench

(03:08):
has four threes, so a couple a good night off
the bench for the thunder clearly and you know SGA
twenty seven and ten, he's having a nice night. But
this is the Jalen Williams game thirty seven, which so
far is out doing the TJ. McConnell eighteen. Off the
bench on a night where Tyre's Halliburton, who is not
nearly having the game, you'd expect him to have just

(03:31):
four points for the Pacers, just four for Indiana. Been
an interesting flow watching the last couple of minutes unfold
in the runout opportunities, the turnovers, sloppy play, trying to
get the ball back out to the three point arc,
and what have we watched with Oklahoma City all year long?
Rangy guys along the edge, leading the easy fast break

(03:51):
opportunities and taking care of business here late. Now, here's
a sense right now, if you're the Pacers, right and
there's five and a half to go in Oklahoma City
is now up by fourteen team Uh, there's the school
of thought that says, hey, with a dinged up Halliburton,
who all by the way, is still in the game,
so you can't be dinged up that much.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
If he's still playing.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
If he's still playing in a fourteen point game with
five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, he can't
be hurt that bad, all right, So before you want
to sit here and say, oh, Haber, he can't be
hurt that bad. But I understand the philosophy of all
Halliburton hasn't been himself. You know, yes, you got a
big night for McConnell off the bench, but boy, when
you're your best to your second best player who's been

(04:31):
so clutching out the playoffs, is playing badly, you gotta
feel good about a game like this. You're going home
for game six. I understand all of that, but this
is not game one, like you're running out of chances.
If you don't win the next game, the series is over.
So I get on the surface of hey, okay, you
feel okay if you're the Pacers, because yeah, you gave
it a game.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
You know you're close for a while.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
But Haliburton, Okay, it's now three to two, and if
you lose one more, the series is over and you
gotta watch the thunder celebrate on your court, right like
that's where you're at. I understand that, but time is
getting short, you are running out of sand, eddie Vedd
twin peaks as you are running out of sand if
you are the Pacers, So while you can sit.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Here and have all the moral victories you want.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
If it's game one of a series, Okay, I understand that, Hey,
it's gonna be a long series. We have to win
game two and then get back go I there's eight
days in between every game.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I understand we'll have time to rest.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
But now you're talking about three to two and a
team getting to go into Game six with a chance
to win the NBA Championship like that, that moral victory
and feeling good. If you're the Pacers, that kind of
goes out the window. You lose tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Well, and if he's legitimately dinged up, it's not like
he gets a week and a half off, No, right,
I don't.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
I don't think they get that much. This time never
is only to start the finals. I mean, really, if
there's we're talking about here's game five tonight, if the
series goes seven, we're talking about the series not being
over for another week. Like, just think how ridiculous that is, right, right?

Speaker 4 (05:50):
I mean, so he gets two nights off next game
not until Thursday, right then, but not till Sunday.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
But if you have that big an issue.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
With your your calf strain, is are you gonna recover
that fast and suddenly be full tilt well at home?
Because he's still playing. Yeah, right, so you didn't do
the pack up and done. You've given it a number
of runs, but you've needed superhero work from McConnell to
stay in this game.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
And here's the thing. You mentioned McConnell right, because again
it was the TJ. McConnell game before it was the
JALN Williams game. McConnell is out of the game right now.
They showed him on the bench. He's got again eighteen
off the bench. He has been fantastic tonight eighteen four
and four. But before you sit here and say, oh,
I don't know why, but a bench, they should have
benched Halliburton and played McConnell. McConnell I think would collapse

(06:38):
because they showed him at the free throw line and
he was breathing like me after I've run ten feet. Yeah,
he's done, right, there's no way McConnell could still be
out there. He is absolutely cooked. He is on the
bench right now, towel over his shoulders, exhausted, sore again.
There's no way you could have put him out there
and said, all right, this is gonna go our way.

(06:59):
We stick with McConnell. Things are gonna be fine. He
absolutely he was done. He absolutely had to come out.
He looked like he's he's right, like he would lay
down if they would let him. They would allowed it,
because there's no way you could get your cap. But
the pays has been ridiculous over the course of the night.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
I mean, we're looking at a one eighteen one oh
four game, but the number of breakout opportunities and chase
on defense that we've seen, right, we talked about the Pacers.
Over the course of the night, they've got twenty turnovers.
That's leading to an awful lot of breakout opportunities for
the Thunder, which means in those nineteen minutes that he's
played an awful lot of chasing and he already plays

(07:32):
in a half court set. You watch how hard he
works possession to possession, add the extra sprints, and I'm
not saying the man's out of shame. I'm just saying
that's a lot of work. That is that is a
grind really fast. So and there's a reason, right, you
got guys and you meet her their minutes as they flow.
But yeah, he's been fantastic. Williams is now up to

(07:53):
forty points on the night with three twenty three remaining
in this one. But again, the sloppy handling of the
basketball early on hurt them immensely, and then as they
clawed back in here in the second half, again trying
to rotate the ball, get the clean look on three
point shots again, breakout opportunities and chase so McConnell, get

(08:16):
him the oxygen masks. See if he can get you
another minute or two here at the at the end.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Exit out about a Fresco exit, small and dope. Jason
Smith Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
More in this game, time out on the floor again,
a fourteen point lead time getting really short for the Pacers. Meanwhile,
really quick before we get to this other basketball story,
show Heyo Tani, the old help yourself out like in
Little Ly when the pitcher comes up, help you help me?
Talking about show Hao Tani with a double to drive

(08:42):
in the game, tying run padres and Dodgers now one
apiece Dodgers batting in the bottom of the third inning again,
Otani going one inning, twenty eight pitches, allowing one run.
But he will leave this game with nothing to do
with it, right he will. He's not, he's not on
the hook. Right, he's out. He will have nothing to
do with it because it's one one in the third.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Are you concerned, Tony with a niney era eight seven?

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Oh, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Now, while things might not be coming up Pacers right now,
everything came up Indiana Fever this weekend. Caitlin Clark's performance
in her return against the Liberty right twenty five points
in the first eight seconds of this game, sure as.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Hell seemed in man, she had the money ball and
then she hit.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
The rocket jock off the freeway, got a shot just
for a second.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
I told you Friday night, said, Okay, here's my big
bull prediction. I'll tell you this. Kaitlyn Clark comes back tomorrow,
goes twenty and ten, and the Fever handed Liberty their
first loss of the season. I clearly meant to say
twenty and ten in the first half. It's not my fault.
You didn't hear that. It's not my fault. You heard
for the game, and I'd so twenty and ten in
the first half, and I love that. Now suddenly on Monday,
it feels like everybody is picking up on Caitlin Clark. Oh,

(09:54):
Kaitlyn Clark. Yeah, we told and again we told you
last week. Watch how much you're getting much are gonna
say you miss Caitlyn Clark while she was out, And boy,
I heard that today a lot.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Again.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
We're ahead of the curve hashtag ahead of the curve.
We told you that last week. You're gonna see, Hey, boy,
I missed her. She comes back and all of a sudden,
again you realize, boy, how much she means the sporting landscape.
She means more to her sport than just about any
athlete means their sport. Right now, and I'll tell you
what I said again, because you know what you said
a couple of weeks ago. The Fever are loaded right

(10:24):
all the big moves they made in the offseason, they
are saying, we are going for this championship window. Now
we're changing coaches where we're bringing a new group of players.
They need a little bit time to gel together because
you have a lot of new right now, all of
it and you need a little bit more time because
now Katelyn Clark's missed the last two weeks from an injury.
But now she's back and you saw the thumbing that

(10:45):
they put on the Liberty on Saturday, right, they almost
beat him earlier. Again, by game thirty ish of the
WNBA season, by game thirty ish, they may not have
the best record because they started out five and five
the Liberty it's their first loss. But by game three
we will say the Fever this is the best team
in the WNBA and Caitlyn Clark is favored to win

(11:05):
her first title of her career. And that's gonna be
the story. Can Caitlyn Clark win a title? And that
you know, moving the goalposts on her from year one
to year two, it's gone from oh, let's see if
she could be a star?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Okay, now we can do it.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Now it's gonna be, Oh, Kitlyn Clark doesn't win the
title this year, it's a bad year.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
It's a disappointment. That's what it's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
But by game thirty we're gonna say, hey, the Fever
are the best team in the WNBA, and it's gonna
be a march towards Caitlyn Clark. Does she get her
first championship this year? That's where we're gonna be.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Well, you watched her MVP odds and she was the
favorite before she got hurt and then Collier takes over.
But now you watch the odds live on Saturday before halftime,
they went just going plus six fifty, plus six fifty
all the way down to you know, plus three seventy
three eighty of them. Yeah, you sent me as you
were watching the odds go down, I'm like, oh, I'm
gonna it's like my own stock.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
But that's my cards are doing your day train way
fifty now down to three fifty.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Yeah, get them right now, there's still plus seventy plus
four seventy five to win the title. That puts him
at the third lowest odds, behind the aforementioned Liberty and
the Minnesota Lynx. But Caitlin Clark comes back. Would we
get a twenty one million people watched? Yeah, by everybody
stopped down on a Saturday afternoon.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Ye is that right? Twenty million?

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (12:24):
I don't know that was. It might have been.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
No, that's how many people were playing, but watch you
know it could have been.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
I might have had that.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
Just in a scroll and it's the number that sticks.
And you're probably right because that didn't seem logical in
the rating, and even as I say it here, but
it certainly drew eyeballs back in We had a lot
on the sporting calendar, I know, the the basketball game,
the last game out and they got back to an
eight eight million people and they were very excited about that.

(12:55):
So clearly the twenty one jumps over the shark. Cause
also a lot of the here's what her box score
looked like, Yeah, kind of extrapolated, because you would have
believed it in that thirty eight seconds was like that.
It was out there like Kobe's eighty one game started
drifting out to where she's got fifty five, sixty points whatever,
And if you weren't paying attention, yeah, I believe it.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
The thing it would have been.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
But Sam Mitchell was single guarding Caitlin Clark for the
majority of the second.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
He would have stayed with it.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
Yes, So yeah, obviously I misspeak as I grab, you know,
just from what scroll to it, because I didn't even
look at what it was, but it was just the
anticipation and certainly it took over social media the thirty
eight seconds of here's your montage because they were all
thirty foot shots too. Write like it's not like it's

(13:44):
the just beyond toes, just beyond the line. So yeah,
captivates imagination and you see the betting odds and more
juice comes back in because it's that you talk about
Angel Reese being the fastest to five hundred and five hundred.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
So that was fun.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
But she had a bit Hitch had for a second
youngest to yeah, triple double. The youngest, of course is
Kaitlin Clark. But it's the summer of Caitlin. From the
summer of George to summer of Caitlyn's what it's gonna
be and the march towards her first WNBA championship. Get ready,
that's what summer is gonna be.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Plus four to seventy five for you there, buddy, get
on it. A buck fifty left to go.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
The Thunder have a one twenty one oh seven lead
over the Indiana Pages. I feel pretty good the Thunder
are going to win this game simply because they're not
the Knicks. And uh, it's gonna be a three to
two lead for Oklahoma City going to Game six of
the NBA Finals. We'll have more on this coming up
next and what to make of the performance or lack thereof,

(14:38):
of Tyres Halliburton. Ah, keep it right here, Jason and Mike.

The Thunder our one game away from the NBA title.

(15:46):
They beat the Pacers one twenty to one oh nine.
A game that looked like it was gonna be the TJ.
McConnell game for a little while he goes for eighteen
and twenty two minutes quickly became the Jalen Williams game.
Forty points for Jalen W. Williams, fourteen out of twenty
five from the floor and the Thunder in a game
where it looked like the Pacers were going to catch them.

(16:07):
They had a big lead that the Pacers just kept
eating into and eating into. It was a two point
game in the fourth quarter and things were getting a
real Things were getting real nervous for the Thunder. It's
you're sitting there thinking, are the Pacers really going to
pull this off? With Haliburton playing so terribly? The answer
is no, because Jalen Williams decided this.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Is my game. Still a big game for Ushga, he
had thirty one.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
And ten assist, but the Jalen Williams game, forty points
one twenty one oh nine is the victim over Indiana.
They go into game six with a chance to hoist
the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Crazy game from from Williams and started slowly and then
just picked it up. When we look at Shade, this
is one of a great example of what we called
the quiet thirty point game, as about half of this
points come from the free throw line, so slow it down.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
Uh, and then it all looked like freeze in the
box score. No wow, yeah, a huge guy.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
No, he stood there and calmly collected himself and hit
his free throws twenty six of thirty two as a
team on the night.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
But you look at the Pacers with.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Their twenty two turnovers, yielding a lot of fast break
opportunities for the Thunder over the course of the night.
But Jayalen Williams put up twenty five shots. I have
to go through back through his Yeah, his game log.
You see, did he have it a game where he
put up that many shots in the regular season?

Speaker 3 (17:26):
He was crazy feeling it And yes, he was what
they call feeling it. Now.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
This is the difference between Tyre's Halliburton and SGA and
Anthony Edwards and SGA. Right, it's a very It's a
very apt comparison because they're both both Halliburton and Edwards
have been kind of the same player. Right tonight, Halliburton
doesn't play well off the jump, not playing well, goes down,

(17:52):
driving to the lane, goes in to get his calf
looked at, comes back out. He's got it all wrapped up,
comes back out to play. Maybe Halliburton's not feeling himself.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Maybe not.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
He still played thirty four minutes, yep, thirty four minutes
for guy who's supposed to be the next great big
NBA superstar. Four points, seven rebounds, and six assists. He
did not hit a shot from the floor tonight in
thirty four minutes, and the Pacers lose one twenty to
one oh nine. Now there's gonna be a lot of

(18:25):
excuses made for Halliburton.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Oh maybe he wasn't.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
He wasn't he was injured, And I'll call this it's
a load of crap. Right now, I'm gonna I'm gonna
first tell you this. If he was really hurt, he
would have been out.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Of the game.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Okay, we talked about it last hour a little bit,
but look, the game is over thirty four minutes, right,
It's the second most minutes of anybody on the team. Okay,
he played more minutes in Siakham, Right, he played more
minutes than McConnell. McConnell was playing great. The only guy
who played more was your guy nam Har Yeah, yeah,
your guy Verick. I think about that miracle three all
the bleeping time. But you know, he was minus twelve.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
He only had seven points tonight, so he wasn't much
better than Haliburton.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
If Halliburton was really hurt, and I'm not saying he
wasn't hurt, because obviously he was danged up.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
He had to go in.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
But if Halliburton was really hurt, he's not coming back
in this game in the first half because the Pacers
are saying, Okay, we can't risk it. It's that bad.
I know that we really want to win this game.
It's a big game for US, Game five, but we're
looking at it as being a longer series. Even if
we lose tonight, we're going home in Game six with

(19:27):
a chance to win. We don't play the next game
until Thursday. Game seven is not till Sunday. Let's make
sure that we have Halliburton for Game six. In Game seven,
where he really make a difference and want to playing
him in a game where he's just gonna get hurt more.
And we really put the rest of the series at
risk because we played him in a game we were

(19:48):
down by thirteen. Right, that is exactly what the pacer
would It's what any team would have done. Right, Okay,
you know what, No, we're not risking it. He's coming
out of the game. But he still played thirty four
minutes and he was not aggressive. He couldn't get to
the rack. He looked to dish the ball every he
looked panicked when he got the ball offensively, did look
like he wanted to be aggressive. Look, he wanted to
jump back and take shots. He was not into this game.

(20:10):
And that's the thing about Halliburton. We saw it last
round with Anthony Edwards and SGA. Right, why did I pick?
I told you the thunder We're going to the finals.
I'm that pick from beginning because I know SGA is
going to be consistently good every single game.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
And there's all these other stars in the league.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Not they're not stars, but boy, Anthony Edwards really has
games where hey, a couple times a series he kind
of ghosts and he doesn't try to get into the game.
And look, we had a great conversation with Rick Buker
at the end of the Western Conference finals, Aday, I
have to rely on some defensive interpretation from Dante DiVincenzo.
It's like, dude, you got to be able to read
the defense. Whatever reason it is. Anthony Edwards ghosts too

(20:45):
many times in a series, and when your best player ghosts,
you can't win. And Halliburton it's the same thing. A
lot of it is motivation. When he's motivated to play,
when he's playing the Knicks, when his dad is coming
back to a game. Hey, Halliburton's great, he's a great
front runner. When things are going well, Halliburton's a great player.
But when he sees adversity, he's a different guy, and

(21:07):
suddenly that game he's not as aggressive. He doesn't try
to get into the game, even in games where I'm
not saying every game's got to be where he's got
ten points in the first quarter. Look at game one,
he wasn't having a great game one, but he was
playing well enough, right, well enough, and he hits the
game winning shot, the big comeback. Everybody, everything's coming up Halliburton, right,
But when he struggles in the beginning, he doesn't know

(21:29):
or he can't flip that switch and find a way
to contribute, whereas SGA always finds a way no matter what.
Even tonight we say it's the Jalen Williams game, it's
not like SGA had fourteen points. He still went for
thirty and ten like still it doesn't matter, Hey at night,
where Jalalen Williams goes for thirty seven or forty points,

(21:50):
SGA still has thirty. He's not coming up small in
the game. Hey, I can't take it. I'm not making
the shots. Halliburton still goests, and that's maybe the best
way to describe him. He is a front runner when
things go well, when things go well early in the game,
or but there's no way he can get He doesn't
come off of bad starts and still find a way

(22:10):
to fight through it and contribute to the to the
pacers the way that other stars do. Whether it's continuing
to shoot your way out of it, whether it's I
got to set my teammates up and be a decoy,
whether I have to get to the free throw line,
all different there's all different ways you.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Can do it.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
But Halliburton just ghosts his way through and that's what
we saw tonight. And yeah, okay, I get that, maybe
you're not one hundred percent, but you still played thirty
four minutes. This is still game Game five of the
NBA Finals, and Halliburton came up with the one of
the worst games. And if you're a star player, you
don't have a game like this. No star Lebron never
had a four point game in the NBA Finals. No
matter what superstar you want to talk about, they're not

(22:44):
having four point games like Haliburt.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Yeah, we gotta make sure FRESHG had to put the
extra respect on his name because he had four block
shots tonight. So add that with a couple of steals.
But when you look at Halliburton and all of that
in those comparisons and where SGA wins out is affecting
the game, getting to the free throw line and recognizing
when you don't have your shot that you do need

(23:06):
to make affect things the other way. You would think
given what the legend of Halliburton has now become, these
playoffs right as the game winners and adversity and stepping
up and finding a way in the final seconds a
game all the game winners, and we've certainly seen all
the pageantry and celebration of those moments that you would

(23:28):
have been able to lean into the I'm hurt, so
I have to work my ass off a little bit harder. Right,
go into the annals of history, NBA, whatever game, whatever
sport you want to do. Right, the guys playing through
family adversity. Here's Brett Favre after his father passes, or
go on down the line that you find and channel

(23:48):
that energy for Haliburton tonight. Ineffective early, and to take
it from the NFL side of things, if you play through,
I gotta judge you based on what you put on dat.
So if you're injured, then go put the ice wrap
on and be ready for Thursday. And he decided to play,

(24:11):
They cleared him to play, and you had thirty four
ineffective cloak of invisibility moments.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
That's really all it was. Right.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
He finishes with the four free throws and a couple
of assists, a couple of rebounds, but often in the
offensive set, invisible, standing on the perimeter, not really even
getting involved, letting the other four guys do the work defensively.
The fact that they didn't go harder at him at
times was a little bit concerning. It allowed the Indiana

(24:43):
to stay in the game, perhaps a bit longer in
that regard, but in the final analysis, this was a
chance to really say, hey, I've got the giant chip
on my shoulder and I'm gonna go at so unless
we get a thing where he's out for game six
because he aggravated something. All this did was tracked from
what had become the all right, look at how he

(25:05):
toughs things out, look at how he finds a way
to be in in the biggest of moments because they
needed him game five. Uh, and he's he's a no show,
even though he plays the thirty four minutes.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Hell, it was telling.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
At halftime we had the volume up in everybody's favorite
Solitaire artist. He's been terrible. I'm glad he's hurt. They're like, well,
what now, I don't mean I'm glad he's hurt. But
it was just one of those moments where it's like, well,
now you're trying to create an excuse. No, no, there's
no excuse. You played thirty four and you were ineffective. Well,

(25:38):
we're not watching the game and you're playing solitaire. I
mean you're gonna say, oh, because that's an excuse for Oh,
that's not what I meant to say.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Look, it's it's it's really difficult.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
And the reason I think, well, because I could see
where some fans are gonna say, oh, you're too hard
on Haliburt and you're being too odd on Haliburt. This
is the fine line between being a superstar and being
a guy that hey boy, you really need to give
us a little bit money.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Fine line that.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
All NBA the stakes have been raised, right they were
last year. You got to the conference, you got to
the finals, right and you go down and now you
were able to claw back and we got to talk
about the regular season and only fifty wins. So there's
been a lot of talk about oh, look at look
at this underdog Squad's like, well, no, you measure yourself

(26:26):
out for the regular season and then the playoffs broke
your way, as we've seen happen for teams through time.
Then take nothing away from the path they've been on,
but they were expected to be good. And he's an
All NBA third teamer again, so yeah, he's established himself
at worst as the fifteenth best player in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Based on those metrics. Right, So here you are.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
And your expectations raise with some of those big games
and big moments that he has.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Here was one that they needed him to be.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
That guy wasn't no I mean, you can say all
you want, but the guy second most minutes of anybody
on the team, and he was a no show. And
it happens just way too often. And that's why when
you when you no show, it way abute. Your best
player can't do that. You can't have your best if
he's your best player no show like that. But it
happens because Haliburton no shows. Tell me how to find
out what's trending in the wide world of sports, but

(27:20):
God has been called the Tyres Halliburton to Fox Sports Radio, Uh,
you know two out of every five nights, he just
doesn't show up. It's Steve de Seger. Calf's a little tight.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Okay, can somebody do this update for me? I'm not
not feeling it right now. You know we could go
a see ankle today.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
You know it's gonna be something else next to Game
six will be in Indiana on Thursday. Game five to
Oklahoma City beating the Pacers one twenty to one oh nine,
Jalen Williams forty points, Tyrese Halliburton o of six shooting
four points, Indiana twenty two turnovers the stad before the game.
And it's still true the Pacers in this postseason. When

(27:57):
they score one to eleven, they're undefeated fourteen and oh,
if they don't score one to eleven, they're winless oh
to seven. Now they lose one twenty to one nine
in this game.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
And now at.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
NBA Finals history, after its tied two games apiece, the
team that wins Game five goes on to take the
title nearly seventy five percent of the time. Again, the
Thunder will be on the road Thursday. The WNBA is
off tonight. Stanley Cup Game six is Tuesday at Florida.
US men's soccer plays again Thursday in Austin, Texas.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
In the Gold Cup in La Panama, five to.

Speaker 5 (28:29):

one to nothing against Jamaica. Right now at the FIFA
Club World Cup, Chelsea beat LAFC two nothing in Atlanta

we take a look at what we saw Tonight in
game five OF The nba finals and find out with
what's going on With the Pacers in game six they have.
A chance how Healthy? Is halliburton is it? Gonna matter
but a big story that is gaining more and more
attention over the last few hours is Revolving Around, kevin

(35:32):
durant who we know now is going to be Out
of phoenix as soon as, he can even though he
didn't want to leave in the middle of.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
The season you couldn't get the movie. TRUCKS there i
don't want to, Leave, yet.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
No, no no. NO no i want to. Stay here it
just kind of just just want to relax a. LITTLE
bit i just want.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
To relax reports are out there as to what Teams
That kevin durant wants to play for the most. End
story earlier in, the day, We, saw Okay the spurs
or the top. The List also Houston. And, minnesota right
those are the teams that were INTERESTED in kd. The,
most well according To the Athletic For, kevin durant he

(36:09):
Wants the spurs over every.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Other.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Team right still maybe interest with these, other teams but
he Wants the spurs more than any. Other team and
already there's been some talk about what this deal could
look like and What the.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Spurs would offer and What the. Sons want you've.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
Heard, stories, that Hey the sons want a package Centered Around,
steph castle which you FORGET that i told, YOU that
i told you my number one pick in the draft before,
the draft that he's Gonna be rookie of. The year
guess what he should have been? Number one he was
a rookie Of. The year getting bet if You Want, steph,
castle okay was, pretty good, don't, yeah yeah, but yeah
Abound That. STEPH castle i.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Get that i'm just saying it's not one of those
cases where we've had in many. Other, years, no, no, no
no that guy goes and then the number one guy
doesn't get off.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
The bend, yeah, no, no no it's has Been good
castle Or. Stuph curry uh for what for the for
one game or for the rest of? Their, careers oh,
EITHER way i will Take. Stephie groff that was. Secret,
OPTION see i Will Take james Spader's character Steph from Pretty. In,
pink no but you know who's in for a root

(37:15):
Awakening Is. Kevin, Durant okay kad is coming into this
Offseason like i'm going to pick THE teams i want to,
go to and already there seems to be a bit
of hesitancy From the spurs to what they would give
Up For kevin durant and what we've seen up until
now some stuff that's been thrown. Out, there again this

(37:35):
is all. Just posturing What the suns want and What
the spurs are going to give up are two incredibly.
Different things If the spurs thought they Were A kevin
durant away from winning, THE title i could see them
going in. On this but they're still kind of becoming
and They want wenby to come back, healthy obviously, you
know missing the end of the season with a, blood

(37:56):
clott hoping he's gonna. Be okay maybe hopefully they gonna
get him out from hanging Out With ross eihul and figuring.
Things out but if they thought they WERE a kd away,
from winning they would go in. On it but this
is gonna be a root awakening from Cause san antonio is, gonna, say, yeah,
no no we're not gonna give you. A cast so
we're not gonna we got, draft picks we, got vassal,

(38:18):
you know we got guys want to. Give you But
the sons are gonna, say no that's, not enough and
they're gonna, want more and they know they'll be able
to get a little bit more from some. Other teams
so it's gonna be a root AWAKENING for kd because he, could,
SAY okay i Want. The, Spurs dude you're not thirty
one years. Old anymore you're not thirty years. Old anymore
you haven't affected the standings or a. Team playoff why since,

(38:39):
twenty nineteen it's been. Six years you're a guy that
gets yours at, This Point kevin durant gets, his numbers gets.
His stats but that's what. He does he doesn't lead.
You anywhere he didn't Lead the. Nets anywhere he hasn't
Led the. Suns anywhere he's simply a guy that gets.
His stats and if you Are, the spurs you're building,
a team do you really?

Speaker 5 (38:57):
Need?

Speaker 1 (38:58):
THAT no i TOLD you I Like, kevin Durant but
i'm not gonna go crazy to, get him, because again
he hasn't let.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Anybody anywhere he hasn't been the missing piece in.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
Six years the place he's gonna, End up i'll tell
you the place that makes the most Sense, is houston
because what do. They need they need somebody at the
end of the game to, take, shots right. That's it,
That's fine That's. What houston we had the CONVERSATION With
nbc basketball Inside Of kurt heal and going into, the
playoffs and we Talked. ABOUT hugest i remember, him saying
who's gonna hit shots at the end of, The, game
right it comes down.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
TO that, i, said yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
They don't they have a really, great roster but who's
that guy that's gonna? Take, Shots right he's the player
you can PLoP onto. That roster and really see the
biggest Impression because kadi will make those shots at the end.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Of games he will be a guy that Will help
steady a little bit of a.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Younger team Fred van vliet's ttrific player and a, great
leader but they don't have that guy that. Can Score
And kevin durant still a. Great, scorer Now while i'm
not a believer that he's a guy that can, Flip
things houston makes the most sense of the eventually where
he's gonna. Wind up, but boy it's gonna be a,
tough thing tough reality. For, him Well the spurs don't
want to give up a lot to. Get me, really wow.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Good luck they.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Can't give him anything to Get dearon fox younger, than,
YOU right, i mean they got to keep that entire,
Core together like guys that were the rumored parts to,
That deal vassal. And others they're still part Of the.
Spurs roster so, to, think hey they're gonna give us
the number. Two, pick no do you think they're gonna

(40:17):
get one of these top players Like. A castle no chance.
In hell you're a team on the come with a, new,
Coach Right mitch johnson is the guy it's not a
guy That Like greg popovich who would LEAN into i
need this veteran base. THAT'S gone i do find it
interesting that the three teams that were named coming into
the Weekend, Were, miami Houston And. San antonio so getting Out.

(40:39):
Of arizona he didn't like that two point five percent flat,
income tax And Then new york was on the board
where you would go and inflate that completely the.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Other way they're.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
Still, Hanging around they're still, you know they're they're vultures
waiting to see if there's a. Carcass there, But yeah
houston is the. Clear spot you got a good depth,
of rotation but you need. The closer but the curiosity
is what would you need to give up? IN exchange
i don't. Know that i'm not breaking up that hor
to bring him in not there's no. CHANCE away i

(41:12):
love that core they have coming. Up Next rick buker
stops by ARE The nba? Finals over is It All tyre's?

Speaker 1 (41:19):
Halliburton's fault we break Down The jalen williams game, Straight
