Speaker 4 (01:05):
Is what he's doing?

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Uh, No one's ruining Kershaw.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
You guys are winning for you.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Guys are winning for Alucky Swing.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
Wait are you ahead of me, Oh.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
You're ahead of me, Frosburg, you're ahead of me. Back
back back back back.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
God Wan Soto a two run homer off for Kershaw.
That's his first yet. I think that that's his first
hit as a met Actually, I don't think. Wow, he
should go get the ball from the guy in the stands.
Probably Zach Hampbell has it.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
See he just stole the back page from TIBs though. Yeah,
because it's like, hey, he can't hit.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Yeah, yeah, no, it will be, it will be, it
will be uh you know, it will say Tom to
go or you know, something like that. And then and
then in the top Sodo catching fire like in a
real tiny font.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yeah, well that's true. I don't think in New.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
York they know what Kershaw Day is.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I do, of course, I don't think they. I don't
think they celebrate New York. They do, but I don't
think they celebrate it like that, you know, they they
you know, would just be hey.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
So universally celebrated.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
Everybody, everybody, we're all celebrating Kershaw Day. We're celebrating celebrating.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Uh so, look the Knicks fired tips today, right and
and you know we talked about it that we talked
about it over a week ago. I'm not surprised because
the loss was so bad. The game one loss of
the Pacers was so all time NBA bad. Sometimes you
can't come back from it right, and you need to

(02:36):
be able to have a clean slate for next year.
It's a really big reason. And I you know, we
usually talk about it with players when they make mistakes
or a team loses, but that's the number one thing.
They the Knicks need a break, a clean break after
this devastating loss of the Pacers. Need a clean a
clean slate. I get it. So now when you talk
about who's next, right, you know, Look, the most fun

(02:57):
part of today was seeing was just watching Twitter and
seeing the names change every few minutes and all the
all the all the basketball names. I go, well, here's
a few thousand people that think this guy should be
the head coach of the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Here, Oh, here's Rick Patino's name coming up to the town.
Oh sure, Rick Patino?

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Metaworld Peace says, I want all the smoke, right, I
want to be the Knicks head coach, and he goes
on to talk about games he won, including winning one
I think it was some high school championship or something
that he won where he said, and we won this
where there was no security, no security.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
He made sure to point out there was no security,
like that's necessary to get get over I don't, Yeah, no,
but I don't. I don't. I don't know. I don't
know what that means. I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I don't know if you know, winning with you know,
winning winning when there was no security, Like, hey, there
was a really bad game. The two teams didn't like
each other. They were gonna be fights after. We had
no security. We didn't know if we were going to
get out of there alive if we won this game. Like,
I guess that what he means, no security. I guess
that's what that means, right, I have no idea.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Yeah, it is a curious uh space that we're operating in. Uh.
We can probably find him and get him to come
on and make his gaze. It's not like a political the.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Palace, oh man.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Yeah, I mean it's it's not like a political office
where we have to then get the other ninety seven
candidates equal time. I think he could just do one.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
We can get Doc Rivers a lot of time, then
no stop stop Doc Rivers is not.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
He's not even on the list. Man, he's not even
on the list. Don't then you are tampering with Doc
Rivers right now. Maybe you get Doc Rivers that a
JJ Reddick. Maybe I could do that. Hey, JJ, how
about that my pal jj Reddick who loves me.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
How about I do that?

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Get your replaced by Doc Rivers with the Lakers. How
about that? You can go coach the Bucks.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Be fun. See now, now you're just trying to bring
your anger on Justin. He didn't do anything.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
Yeah, he's just talking about it.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
That's available.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
You're trying to put doc doc Rivers has a job.
Shockingly so Doc Rivers still has a job to give
to us. Now, I don't do that. I don't want
any of that, Doc Rivers smoke. I don't want any
of that. You cannot of want that. I don't want
him near my play. I would if I was doing
a fantasy league and I to take head coat we
were drafting head coaches, I wouldn't want him because I
wouldn't want him near my players on.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
My fantasy team. But that doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Don't want to I don't want to see his name
next to the guys they're gonna play in my fantasy team.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
I would have nothing to do with Doc Rivers that
out of here.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Man, come all right, you want to have a little
bit of fun with the current odds as uh put
up by DraftKings.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, because I'll tell you the two guys that are
that are really interesting to me that I would love
to see one of these two guys get the get gut.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Leader in the clubhouse currently Mike Malone. He's not Mike
as a coaching spot again. No, I.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Look Danny Hurley and and Michael Malone. Of course they're
gonna be nominated because well.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
But he's but further down the list. He's got worse
odds than Rick Brunson.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, well yeah, Rick brunt is getting the Budenholzer Bodenhols
is not getting the job. And Jay Wright the look
Jay Wright would be the first call and the Knicks
would be making coaching mal practice if they didn't call
Jay Wright. Obviously the Villanova connection. He's a guy who's sharp.
He gets the big market. Jay right, Jay Wright watching

(06:19):
him coach, he is a he is a coaching gangster,
right like that's what he like. I think a Jay
Glazer that guy's such a gangster, Like like meeting a
guy he's so tough and he's so cool and he
demands respect.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Like that's what I think.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Jay Wright is a gangster, right, So that's the guy
I would want to Obviously, you have to make a
call for him. Now, Look, Danny Hurley would be fun,
be fun to see him standing there looking staring up
at Karl Anthony Townsend yelling at him for not playing defense,
like just screaming at him in his face. But like
Danny Hurley and Mike Maloney, they're like the two. They're

(06:52):
like two of the same kind of versions of Tibbs, right,
because TIBs is a guy. He was grouchy, he was
you know, he would preach defense and he would be
kind of a hard ass. And it's kind of tough
to have a hard ass followed by a hard ass, right,
It's it's really difficult to do. Usually when you make changes,
you make a change because okay, we're going from the
hard ass coach the players coach. Then when that doesn't work,

(07:12):
you go from the players coach back to the hard
ass coach.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
So I feel like Malone.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Is kind of some of the same thing and basically, Look,
I mean the guy talked about near the end of
the time before he got fired that he didn't like
his players.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
No, that's the thing, right, may clips come back to
you really want this? No, that's not gonna play man.
He's gonna call out guys not wanting to watch film,
not play defense, not rot Yeah, that's what you want
to do with this squad? Yeah, og, you're fine, You're good.
You guys over here, I mean, I don't even know
what you How ugly does that get? I mean it'd

(07:45):
be great for New York. You are talking in a
media fires score good as we went thirty five games?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
What happened to this team? No, but like it's it's
kind of the same thing. And for look, when you
had to fire a coach three games before the end
of the regular season, suddenly you turn on to give
that guy a job. It's like when the Jets said, oh, man,
Adam Gase got fired.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Oh good for him.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
He was terrible with the dog. Oh we just hired him.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Oh okay, great, Like he didn't get at any time
to learn what he did wrong stuff to do for
the next job. That basically, oh hey, yeah, Adam Gase
was so bad he got fired by an Indivision coach.
We're hiring him as our next head coach. And the
guy still and I told you when he got fired
he's not working in the NFL again.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
Where's Adam Gase?

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Right?

Speaker 1 (08:25):
I told you what's gonna happen because it was so bad?
But like Taco Tuesday, it is Taco Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
But yeah, Malone and and and Hurley would kind of
be like another version of Tims. Right, you need something
a little bit different.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
And I'll give you two guys that I'd be excited about.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
And they're they're they're not some of the names off
the top, but their names well, well, Steven A. Smith
got the gig. That'd be awesome because he's on that
list at sixty to one. That would be really really good. Uh,
there's not gonna be practice, just gonna be debates. They're
gonna show up and with no practice, just gonna debate.
We're just gonna debate and that's it. And and and
Ally Karen will be there with him, and she'll sit
next to him, and there he will be debating with

(09:03):
Rick Brunson, with Jalen Brunston.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
To practice, and he leaves and nobody comes. It will
be a big debate.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
You get to argue your way into the starting line
of friends. Oh see, there you go.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
There you go, win the debate, get in the starting lineup.
There you go, man, there you go.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Embrace debate on a whole other level.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
That'd be the new They would be wearing T shirts
on the bench with the embraced debates like it's it's
kind of like you know Nick Strong or you know
playoffs and embrace the hashtag embrace debate with a picture
of Steven Asmith's head.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
He came to the table, he came to practice with
then inarguable uh and in you know, an argument that
we could not possibly break in any way. So if
he earned his minutes tonight.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
As so the two guys I'd be excited about. And
again they're not two guys that that you would you
would think off the top of you, well, this is
who Jason likes first guy. Honestly, No, no, no, no.
If you said to me pick a name out of

(10:14):
a hat or Doc Rivers, I would say give me
the hat and I'll put my whatever I come out with.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
That's a coach.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
No, I don't want I don't want Doc Rivers near
my team. I don't want to even keep saying his
name on the air, thinking that maybe Dolan's gonna listen
and hear it and say, Okay, we already know.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Jj Reddick listen knows who Doc Rivers is?

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Oh, oh, that is true. That is true. He doesn't.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
Yeah, you might know Glen Rivers.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
He might know.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
He might he might he might know uh Rivers, Cuomo,
you know, maybe he might know Uh yeah, I mean,
I don't know. I'm trying to He might know Joan
Rivers or three Rivers or Melissa Rivers or Riverfront Stadium
or Philip Rivers, Philip Rivers or River Phoenix.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Or are all his kids that are now going to
start dominating the collegiate.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
We're ready for the Chargers quarterback he's at Gunnar Rivers.
Is that kid from the Cam Newton commercial Just loosen
up my arm. He does a commercial with Herbert.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Just loosing up my arm.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Be getting ready. But the first guy, honestly I like
is Mike Brown. All right, Mike Brown is someone who
is defensive minded. He has accomplished, He's been to an
NBA final. He redid the Sacramento Kings. You know two
years ago, Mike Brown is a really good coach, right,
And like coaches, they have their ups in their downs,

(11:28):
right there, Hey, a good coach for a few years,
but but it falls on hard times you wind up
getting let go. But he is accomplished. He is defensive,
and the Knicks need to be more defensive. Mind like, great,
what do you need coming in? You need somebody that's
gonna say, hey, okay, it was Tibs's thing, but now
clearly not how do you do this? And the guy's
gotten farther in his career than Tibbs has. He's done more.
He's done more under you know, he's coached in La

(11:51):
under a you know, having a big responsibility there too.
So he's done enough in his career. And especially because
I like the fact that defensively they'll be really really
good good because everywhere he goes his teams are good defensively.
Mike Brown's the first guy I really like.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
No, I dig what you're trying to say there, but
you just did the defensive guy. And clearly, unless you
really redo this roster, you've got two very glaring problems
with trying to run that. So I'm going the opposite way,
I'm going Taylor Jenkins and let's just go feed into
the offense. Yeah, that's tough, man.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Ah, that's tough because the guy couldn't handle it in
a smaller market and now he's gonna come.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
In he No, he also had to deal with a
lot of the uh off court stuff in the Drummers.
It's a little too that was a little different.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Yeah, and that's a little too dicey with me and
what he couldn't handle, and that all of a sudden
he's gonna go to New York and the pressure cooker
and figure things out there.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
Right, I'm dicey with that.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yeah. He and Shallomeo get along fine. Look, we're running
it up.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
But the other guy I'm really intrigued by, right because
and look, because I don't really want to retreat to Look,
Monty Williams is a great head coach, right, but he's
up and down and his Monte Williams the right guy here.
It's tough, right, But the good news is there's a
lot of guys out there that have done some things
that you're gonna get to interview. Right, there's a lot
of guys out There's a lot of former head coaches.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
I don't want.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
But these are guys that have all one we see coach.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
No no, no, neither of those guys.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
No, no, no, no, no no, because then he could
bring Lebron there, No no, no, no no. You still
stop putting guys out there that I don't want.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
What do you think Frosper is a good one? I
didn't hear you.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
You know Steve Nash at twenty two to one again
pop podcast guy and he can go with Lebron in
New York who he wants to playing the guard Jase, Yeah,
well I love it.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Stop stop stop, just stop stop with the guys at
the stop with the guys out there right there.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Mike, Well, you know you gotta you gotta go dig
deeper down the list.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Plan B doc rivers e.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Stop not happening the other guy, honestly, because you've you've
heard his name so much, Like you've heard his name
so much that I'm so intrigued by him potentially being
the next head coach of the Knicks, Like if they
hire if they can't get Jay Wright, Okay, I get

(14:22):
it right, So no Jay Wright, Mike Brown and another
guy that we're going to talk about coming up next
right here Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio. Hey, let
me tell you about something that has been phenomenal for
Mike and I. It's been fantastic for both of us.

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Juan Soto over the wall to make a catch. It's
the one Sodo game. He just needed this game to
warm up. Dodgers leading nets four to three, bottom of
the fourth inning, Juan Soto into the stands and right field,
and uh no, Dodger fan jumped in front to try

(16:49):
to grab the ball from him.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
See that that happened? Do you think there someone grabbed
a bunch of the articles that had been written about
Carl Anthony Towns and just did a find and replace
with Soto's name him and sent it to him. Hey,
guess what, man, guess what You're off those all of
a sudden, there's effort all over man. Oh yeah, uh now,

(17:10):
look like I said a few minutes ago, look who
could replace you know, Tibbs in New York Now, and
I talked about Mike Brown being somebody.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Obviously Jay Wright is the first call. But the two
guys after that, Michael Malone doesn't really excite mes and
and Danny Hurley is he really gonna yell? Was yelling
at Jalen Brunton. I mean, it's it's it's too similar.
But the guy that I, honestly I really would like
to see because he's been everybody's up and coming guy
for a long time. He's won titles as an assistant,

(17:38):
I'd kind of like to see Sam Cassell. I kind
of like to see what he could do for the
longest time it's been. Boy, he's been close to a
lot of jobs and hasn't gotten one. And maybe he's
one of those guys that Hey, after coaching for so long,
took him a while ready to run his own thing,
and and he's got a lot of cachet and players
all remember him in his career. He instead of a retread,

(18:00):
it kind of comes in the let's see what you
can do here. I kind of would like to see
Sam cassel I really though, those would be if it's
not Jay Wright, those would be the two guys that
I would say, okay, if it's either of them, I'm
okay with that.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
If I'm the knicks lean in point guard, so can
get the best out of Jalen Brunson. Really, it all
comes just back down and I know where it's the
coaching job that's open. But that's not the biggest issue.
They right as much as that Game one debacle and
those final ninety fifty seconds are things that are gonna

(18:34):
live in the Nightmares of New York. Might be a
new horror franchise that comes out of it. Go to
the theater and watch it. I don't know, you'll figure
it out. We can storyboard it. But the idea is
that you you have a flawed roster, right, And that
doesn't mean that Tips used what he had properly, But
I'd like to think he was smart enough that if

(18:55):
he had a ninth guy that could actually play some minutes,
that he might have actually gotten off the bench. Uh.
So looking at you, uh, Leon Rose. But for for
Sam Gassell, I'm curious to see if they do go
down a deeper rabbit hole. Right between assistants, we talk
about what you have on the bench in Cleveland, and

(19:16):
some of the favorites maybe to come off of there.
But you know, when we look at the different on
offshore odds and some of the the online marketplaces, it
is a lot of familiar names. Hell, Jeff van Gundy
is the third favorite. Yeah, I know what I mean though,

(19:38):
just kind of saying where where we're at with this
list and early betting odds and some of it. It
doesn't require a lot of money to put odds to
a higher spot, right and to get folks excitable. But
it's just curious to see all these old retread second third,
fourth bites at the Apple, uh, making their their bones

(19:59):
here in these early hours after Tibbs departure.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Yeah, I mean, of course you're gonna get the names,
and it's gonna and it's gonna be something that goes
through the entire playoffs, the rest of the playoffs, in
the off season, like, okay, we got something great now.
So when the when the NBA Finals is non competitive,
it's like, who are the Knicks gonna get?

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Who?

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Suddenly the nick the Knicks job is so sought after,
it's such people.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Are gonna come out of the woodwork for it.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
I bet you.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
I look, I even saw Jackson's name trending earlier today.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
We'll get fill back again.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Yeah, that's great, Like everybody's gonna want this job now
because it is so high profile.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
You have a lot of talent on this roster.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Uh yeah, and you have money, all right, So it's
it's depending on what you do with you know, in
the off season.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
But this is something now suddenly.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
It's wait, this is the most this is the most
sought after job in the NBA, and now you got
If the right coach gets there, you'd like you We're
gonna see stories of hey, they're talking to this coach,
which means maybe Giannis is a guy that wants to go.
I mean, you're gonna see stories like that. They're gonna
carry us through the rest of the offs. So congratulations Nick.
Christmas comes early to every NBA fan. We could talk

(21:04):
about who the next coach in the Nicks is Donald
but not Doc Stop Stop with Doctor Octopus has a
better chance to get in the job than Doc Rivers,
and he's got.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Like eight Doc Rivers is the favorite.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Well, and he can go take over Broadway again. Alfred
Molina has had a fantastic run there. But it's the
the idea of what this Knicks team became, right, We've
had the conversation other than Clyde Frasier, then you have Ewing,
and you have obviously Carmelo Anthony. You've got a lot
of empty years in that fifty two year drought since title.

(21:39):
So this became a well Jalen Brunson for our memory
is if not the top. Nick and Volk can bristle
about it, but it doesn't make it any less true
because they he captivated the imagination of people in New
York and the Knicks became a national story beyond Nick's homerdom,

(22:00):
like Jason Smith or other guys that are centered in
New York. Right, it became a team that I think
folks enjoyed watching and certainly the fans gravitated to in
New York. Unlike anything we'd seen. Hope is a dangerous thing,
no question about it. And we've seen glimpses in the
past of spilling out into the streets after you first

(22:21):
round wins and what have you. But this is the
first time that there was any real hope that hey,
this team is actually pretty good and to suddenly have
that momentum break like a New York City Cabby getting hit.
I'm walking here, I'm walking here with Tims getting fired,
Like okay, Now, what's the breakneck change of direction in

(22:44):
terms of the coach and the roster going forward? Because
you've got an Eastern Conference has a lot of change,
whether Giannis becomes a Nick or not not, You've got
a balance of power shifting, right. You've got Indiana that
everybody immediately saying, hey, they're gonna be around a long time.
Maybe maybe not. I mean things going in weird directions

(23:07):
in the NBA, as we've seen seven straight years that
we're gonna have a different champion outside of the the
MVP voting and Jokic with his dominance, You're seeing guys
and new names rise to the forefront like SGA and others.
So there is no status quo. The Celtics. They lost
Jason Tatum, he ain't coming back. The Bucks if Jannis leaves,

(23:28):
well there's no Damian Lillard to pick up the slack.
And they're old. Look how old you'd become all of
that in the East, there's so much room. So I
think for Knicks fans it was, hey, this is a
team that is set for a run, and all of
a sudden it's like, well maybe not. Look at all
the things that got exposed in that series. Oh and
we had to get the coach shuffled out as well.

(23:50):
By the way, there's a great picture of Tom Thibodeau
circulating from when he once had great, glorious hair and
it was a mullet. Yeah, yeah, that's.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Hey, Tims, wouldn't you like to go back and be
able to tell this guy, Hey, in twenty years dude, Uh,
you want to make sure Bruns is in the game
at the end against the Pistons, and you want to
make sure you don't blow that game winning its paces?

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Wait what what? Who are you I'm from the future. Tips,
you know what I do.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
I thought, uh, that picture with the mullet was taken
right before this season.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Was It was actually taken today after he got fired.
I'm growing it out now.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
That's what the Knicks did to him.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Now, Frostburg, you have another candidate. Don't say Doc Rivers.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Oh I won't. Okay, don't say Doc Rivers again.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
No, I've already said it. People know the mission. Get
it out there, get it trending. Okay, are you sitting down?
I'm of course, I'm sitting down.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
Well, I don't know. You stand up maybe twice a day.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
I'm sitting down, Yeah, yeah, twice an hour. Whether I
need to or not, I'll stand up twice a day.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Sure.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
I think the best fit out there is Reggie Miller.

Speaker 6 (24:51):
Oh g Miller would be the greatest coach ever for them.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Miller just.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
And Spike would have nightly Oh.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Yeah, I don't know, dude.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
I think Spike might say, Okay, I'm turning in my
season tickets.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
I'm not gonna come and watch Reggie. Not gonna, nobody,
no way.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
Every every practice would be We're gonna look at video
of my great eight points and nine seconds against the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
We're gonna look at it.

Speaker 5 (25:20):
Do we need to see it again? Are we gonna practice?

Speaker 6 (25:22):
No?

Speaker 3 (25:22):
I need to practice. You guys are good.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Let's watch a video again. Right here, I steal the ball,
I drive back behind the three point line.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Hit.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
Would I steal the ball again? I go back by
the three point line. That's what every practice would be.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
We don't need that. I don't need it.

Speaker 6 (25:35):
Or not.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
They want to beat the Pacers, of course I do.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Reggie's not the guys not happening.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
At least it would get him away from broadcasting big games.
The Knicks are in, so I would would have to do.
I would only have to listen to stan Van Gundy
at that point, which is a big At least you
get him off there. Uh, dude, are just in big games,
hunlike the Lakers who were not in big games. But
you want me to You don't want me hitch between
the eyes or something. Because you talked about the roster
going forward. I will tell you this new head coach

(26:02):
canna look, Leon Rose still running things. Obviously, new head
coach coming in, the Knicks know they need something different.
The only guy on that roster who is safe is
Jalen Brunson. Not that everybody's gonna get traded, but there
is nobody on that roster that is safe besides Jalen Brunson.

(26:22):
Everybody else can move for parts that are either gonna
be a more athletic, playmaking forward, a better version of
a guard that could take some of the scoring pressure
off of Jalen Brunson, a big that can be athletic
down low and then play good defense. Nobody is safe
outside of Jalen Brunson. Again, doesn't mean everybody's getting traded,

(26:45):
they're not. But the Knicks starting five you had to
cut in the throwing Mitchell Robinson as well. Look, they're
all talented guys. You got some, You got some real
lot talent there. Jalen Brunson is the only guy that
I can tell you for certain will be on the
next roster next season, because anybody else can go. It's
a new head coach who's going to have his own
way to do things to want to bring the Knicks
back defensively. Likely it's gonna be Karl Anthony Towns. I

(27:07):
told you last night, I have no doubt that he's
gonna wind up going because he was an odd fit.
He will bring the most back in trade, and you
could be better defensively, uh with him not out there. So,
but nobody else is safe. It could be cat going
with Josh Hart, could be cat with that, Anobi could
be cat with Bridges. Nobody is safe besides Jalen Brunson.
The only guy I can say yes, he'll be out

(27:29):
there next year playing for the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
I'm really surprised that you haven't done at least a
five to seven minute monologue of how Bridges should be traded.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Well, because he did have the big game against the Celtics, right,
he has stole the ball twice at the end, winning
first two games, and he did the Celtics.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
It's like winning, doesn't that get you a lifetime contract?

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Well, when you trade five first round picks, I think
that almost is a lifetime contract.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Well, but that's the thing, right, Archie kind of beholden.
It's like, we can't, we can't just give up on
this guy. They'll eat us alive. Well they are anyway.
So you already have the Vegas misdirection of a letter
telling everybody that you fired Tibbs. That was a nice statement.
Did they get a non official letterhead.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yeah, yeah, here it is right here. Don't look at
that always blue an orange too. It looks fantastic.

Speaker 4 (28:16):
Thank you, TIBs. Don't mind this sword we're gonna put
right through your back.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
You had a good run. Congratulations on getting us somewhere.
We haven't been this century.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
That he his hair for a sec. Yeah, who has
more hair on their head? Tibbs or Charlie Brown?

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Oh tips, he combs it over. Man, Come on, you've
seen the comb over for TIBs. One squiggle going up.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
In the air.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
That's barely holding on to a comb over.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
I mean maybe and watch, you'll watch, Maybe you'll see
TIBs now outside of the pressures of New York. He'll
grow his hair back. He'll be like, wow, look at
that New York man. Look at this he's walking around.
He looks like a Chevy Chase from from Flets when
he's playing for the Lakers and he's got.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
The whole big hair. Yeah. Go come on, man, Yeah,
that's it.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
I get rid of the stress and my hair grew back.
He would be like a walking advertisement for some sort
of hair regrowth system.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Well, and then he could have billboards up and down
the freeway like Irlacker does all in Illinois. Yeah, why not?

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Right?

Speaker 3 (29:15):
I'm Tom Tibbadau. I he there's people in Chicago saying
bring him back because you'll get ten years of coaches.
At this point, what do you got? Steve Kerr? Billy
Donovan's like second or third I think right now in
terms of longest ten year dead coaches. What does that mean? Stop? Stop?

Speaker 1 (29:35):
You said you weren't going to mention him. You said, no,
I'm not gonna mention Doc Rivers. You gave me Reggie Miller.
Come on, man, you said, doctor, tell me that a
good one. Stott dude. I you know, if the Knicks
were terrible and they had no hope, I would say, yeah,
why not because that would at least we'd have fun stuff.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
But no, we got off in dreams.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
Man, I'm gonna say it.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
I'm not gonna say it. What do you mean, man?
The Eastern Conference finals like years ago at this point,
I'm not that's a lifetime ago.

Speaker 5 (30:06):
I am not gonna say it.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Say it now.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Every nick outside of Jalen Brunson is available to improve
this team.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
Everyone will be available.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
And water is wet.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Time out to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. So someone who's been called the Doc
Rivers of Fox Sports Radio, it's.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
Because there's talk he peaked in two thousand and eight.
It's Steve the sick.

Speaker 7 (30:30):
And he's losing his voice, and it's not Blake's fault. Meanwhile,
at Dodger Stadium, LA holding on four to three over
the Mets. In the top of the fifth, Clayton Kershaw
has just retired Juan Soto with a couple of men
on board. Sodo earlier hit a two run homer off
him Kershaw over eighty five pitches thrown. Now again games
in the top of the fifth, four to three, LA

(30:50):
Dodgers in a bind here because Max Mountsey had a
ground ball go right through his legs. So it's two
on two out for the Mets in the fifth. Yes,
the New York News from earlier that the Knicks fired
coach Tom Thibodeaux after five years in that town. He's
also coached in Chicago and Minnesota. His career winning percentage

(31:11):
five seventy nine, the highest by any coach without a
finals appearance at NBA history minimum three hundred games. The
NBA Finals start Thursday, Indiana at Oklahoma City. Then Game
two is Sunday. The Pacers franchise has won a title before,
but it was the ABA championships of nineteen seventy, seventy
two and seventy three, and then after the ABA folded,

(31:33):
the Pacers were part of the merger with the NBA
in nineteen seventy six. In the WNBA, Minnesota's now eight
and oh after beating Phoenix, Indiana at home, defeated Washington,
and with a one and six record, Dallas has fallen
behind final second Seattle leads seventy eight seventy one over
the Dallas Wings. Stanley Cup final starts Wednesday, Florida at Edmonton.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Two.

Speaker 7 (31:56):
C Carlos Alcarez won his quarterfinal at the French Open
US Women's soccer, a four to nothing winner over Jamaica
in an exhibition in Saint Louis. Former Vikings defensive end
Jim Marshall passed away at age eighty seven. Marshall was
a team captain for fourteen years, played in four Super
Bowls in the nineteen seventies. He made the Pro Bowl
in nineteen sixty eight and sixty nine. Updating the baseball

(32:19):
Pete Alonso and RBI double, and the Mets are tied
with the Dodgers four to four with two outs two
on top of the fifth. Orioles leading at Seattle three
to one in the top of the eighth, The Giants
still shutting out the Padres two to nothing in the
bottom of the seventh. In fact, Padres have just left
bases loaded. The Twins have taken the lead three to
two at the A's its top of the six Twins

(32:41):
with three solo homers. The A's have lost eighteen of
their last nineteen games. Colorado had a road record of
three and twenty eights until last night's win at Miami.
They beat the Marlins there again tonight three to two
with a solo homer in the eighth. At ten and
seven thousand and five eighty three Houston on three not
I think at Pittsburgh, beating Paul Skeins, Cubs, and Reds

(33:03):
each one. Yankees held on three to two over Cleveland.
Philadelphia ended a four game losing streak, getting six runs
top of the first in an eight three win at Toronto,
wins for the Rays and Diamondbacks. White Sox beat Detroit.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
Eight to one.

Speaker 7 (33:16):
Angels won in ten at Boston for three and it
was Kansas City. Despite being down seven to two in
the third inning case, he won at Saint Louis ten
to seven Royals d h Tonight, Jack caglioned in his
major league debut.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
He went, oh for five, back to you.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
You got to say it like John Paul Malross.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
Kagleon, you gotta give you that Kagi.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
I think he even gave another syllable or two in
there to really drag it out.

Speaker 7 (33:43):
In English, they kind of let the last syllable float
by the wayside.

Speaker 4 (33:48):
It's not Caglia no lot shorter than that.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Thank you, Steve though Jason Smith.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studio, Clayton
Kershaw and the Dodgers look like they get out of
the jam. In the middle of the fifth inning, groundball
to first by Brandon Nimo, and it looks like Kershaw
beat him to the bag. That would be the third
out of the inning. However, it is going to be

(34:18):
looked at right now, so potentially the Dodgers get out
of it. Let's take a look here again at the replay.
Freddie Fizan at the grounder. Kershaw well not say anything
on that.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
Replay.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Here we go.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
This is the replay that'll show.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
You he is safe. He is safe.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
That is getting overturned and the Mets are gonna have
the lead. He clearly hit the base. When Kershaw's foot
is up in the air, that is gonna be overturned
and Kershaw the Dodgers have not left the field. Looks
like Kershaw knows if the Mets have challenged it, They're
gonna have the lead and still be batting here as
long as things are done fairly at Chavez Revieweh, whoa.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
Whoa alling Shenanigans, what are we doing?

Speaker 5 (35:02):
Clearly see he's safe, right, clearly see.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Yeah, on the second angle it shows it.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Yeah, you clearly see he is safe. So we'll continue
to monitor this. But coming up next, we're gonna you know,
we do this once in a while. It's a really
great Now we're one of the favorite things we do.
Sometimes you just have appreciation moments for something big in sports,
and we're gonna have a big appreciation moment for a
team that absolutely deserves it. After today, that's next right here,

(35:28):
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. We'll get back into the biggest story of
the day coming up in about ten minutes. But you know,
once why it's a good thing to do this, right,
let let's have an appreciation moment when an athlete or
a team does something that we need to just you know,
talk about for a couple minutes and just understand that

(36:01):
this is a really big accomplishment. Of course, I'm talking
about the Rockies. Colorado Rockies ended their streak of twenty
two consecutive series losses. This goes back to last year.
They beat the Marlins tonight, Hunter Goodman had a home
run for the third time in the last two games,
and the Rockies win their first series going I mean

(36:23):
going back to last year. They're eleven and fifty. Right now,
they won consecutive games only the second time this year.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
They go for the.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Sweep, like I mean, and if you shoot the Marlins tomorrow,
like the Marlin's just disband, like that's it. Like Cleveland
Spider at right now, it's it's never gonna get any better.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
If you get swept by the Rockies.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
Well, they have to stick around till at least they
have that SpongeBob Jersey day that they're promoting. Oh, because
that'll get a couple of folk in the park for
the Marlins.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
And that's gonna be a that's gonna be a real
expensive jersey to buy on eBay.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
Do you want the Marlin? Yeah, that's gonna be a
tough one. Man. That's gonna be tough. Yeah. I mean, look,
it doesn't look very good, but they tried. But this
is one where legitimately you could throw a stack of
money in front of people and say name me a
couple of Rockies. Yeah, and it gets dark pretty fast.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Seth Smith, right, yes, good, yes, Seth Smith, very good.
You know, because the thing is is that and what
people don't get, I.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Mean, I get, I understand.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
It's because we just saw it, right, we just saw
the White Sox break the record for most losses.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
Of a season last year. But to understand that, Colorado
is off to a way worse start. Right, We're sixty
one games into the season.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
They won eleven times. All right, Like, I'm not great at.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Math, but I'll tell you you want to talk about
if you go another sixty one games, they're gonna be
twenty two and one hundred twenty two. Like if this
how it plays out, twenty two and one hundred going
into the last forty games, where it's hey, if you're
not five hundred year, you're not just breaking the White
Sox record of one twenty one.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
You could be getting up close to one thirty.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
When it's all You're in Cleveland Spiders and they disbanded
in the last week of the season in eighteen ninety
nine because they had lost so many games, Like you
are in the territory of worst team in the history
of the sport, going back to the eighteen hundred nine. Hey,
in the modern era, this is the because you got like, Okay,
when I hear it's the modern era record, Yeah, that's great.

(38:22):
That's a bit modern era. It's not all time. No,
this all going back to when adwer double Day said, oh,
let's have four bases instead of three.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
I think let's do that.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
I think that'll be Let's give the guys in the
field gloves so their hands don't hurt all the time, right, Like,
this is this is how far you have to go back.
This is what the Rockies are on pace for. Man,
this is what they're on pace for.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
This is where you you start having more and more
random entertainment in between innings.

Speaker 6 (38:48):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
If you're not actively playing, you're in the crowd. Whoever
showed up. You're shaking hands, kissing babies and doing whatever
you can to make them feel better. Every day is
a dollar hot dog day. And we keep on going
down promotions. We're going to every senior center, We're going
to every daycare, We're going to every summer camp, and
we're getting as many butts and seats as we can

(39:11):
in an active desperation. We're gonna bring out the big Cat.
We're gonna bring out Dante Boschett, Ellis Burgs and everybody else.
They can bat like the Hambino did for the Bananas
the other Oh, Troy glaus Hey, we're activating you for
one it's a one day retirement. No, it's a one
day activation. Get your ass in there. You got four bets.

Speaker 6 (39:31):
Do you think it came out like that guy in
John Wick Hi, I am glause.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
People seemed a bit confused. They really had to pump
in a lot of noise to sell you out who
he was.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
See, but I think you hit on something their harm
because like, how do you how do you get past.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
The stink of what losing one hundred and thirty games
would be?

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Like?

Speaker 1 (39:52):
At some point, what if the Rocky said, Okay, this
is gonna be a really bad rest of the season.
We don't want to do this. But what if we
really just go into like a Savannah Banana tank and
you know, we're gonna lose every game, but we're gonna
do these crazy stuff on the field, and we're gonna
have bat races and spins, and guys that are righty
you're gonna pitch lefty, and guys that are left you're
gonna pitch righty. And we're not gonna wear hats, and

(40:13):
we're gonna throw cleats at each other. Like if you
went complete clown show and they lost one hundred and
thirty games, you say, well, okay, that's expect Look they
went clown show, who knows that they would have broke
the all time record and boom, suddenly the Rockies aren't
in the record books really and they become a team
that we never thought we would ever see a real
life Savannah Banas at least.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Yeah, I mean you're looking at a fourth straight year
with at least ninety four losses the Mets back to back.
Stop Would you stop, dude? Would you stop? Stop?

Speaker 5 (40:43):
We beat you three out of four this year. We're
beating you so far tonight.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Stop man, stop you better roll Shatner stop stop spun.
Why spark the Dodgers Met's aren't having trouble like the Yankees.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
I don't understand spa.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
SPA exit out about a Fresco exit swelling dome. Coming
up next week up more of the biggest story of
the night, including part of a hot take on It
