my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Buddy, is it time for a new job?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
That it's time for Express Employment Professionals, Devin Williams.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
That's for you.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Quit the endless online job search and list the pros
and Express never charges job seekers a fee. Go to
expresspros dot com. That is Expresspros dot com. Yes, Devin
Williams gives up a game tying home run in the
bottom of the ninth inning to Juck Peterson and the Yankees.
Their stomach churning, chugging pepto bisy mall continues tonight against
(01:03):
the Rangers.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
It's tough, right, you're waiting for Judge to come back.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
You got another home run out of stand right, he's
starting to get his stride back and and and the
power surge Goldsmith Homer as well. So you're like, all right,
we're feeling better there, but the fundamentals are gone. You
lose a five, five to four lead and give it
up in the just awful, just replaying the replay of
(01:29):
Peterson's home broke because it was it was a no.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Doubt or line.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Oh yeah, right yeah, And then you have a guy
with a Jeter jersey who does it. He looked like
a yankeees fielder trying to catch the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Ah, no, it's on the ground.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
It's terrible, but they showed the Yankee dugout and to
a man, you think it was a flashback to Judge
dropping the ball in the World Series.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
That's how deflating that was. It is.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
It is just absolutely I can't even I can't even
get over it. I almost feel bad. I mean almost,
I'm not saying I almost feel bad. I almost texted
your your dad as fast as you could. Oh no,
I didn't text him here because he doesn't I gotta
wait till the game's also the game. Yeah yeah, no, no,
I can't text him now. No no, no, no, no,
(02:14):
no no, all right, we.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Get into our ghost Runner part of the night.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
So yeah, Yankees and Rangers in the in the top
and you know, all day I'm sitting here, you know,
going why why are the Texas Rangers trending?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Like?
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Why? Yeah, they've been hot, they've been playing well.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I get it, you know, Hey, you don't want to
face the gram and Avaldi in a in a short series.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
No, no, I get it. And I look at it's
all all Texas Range.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Can we all have to get those Democrats who left
Texas for the vote. I'm like, oh, that's why the
Texas Rangers are trend. I'm like, what have they been
doing all day to make themselves trend? I get to Gram,
I get a VOLDI I'm like, oh, no, it's it's okay.
It's the other Texas Range.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
And after you read that story and recognized what it was,
tell me in the back of your head, did you
have Chuck Norris in your head?
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Because the uh the Ranger are you? I'm just thinking
Clarence Gilliard the third.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Too soon, man, too soon.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I've just had visions of like de grom and a
cowboy hat, like going out to again, Vivaldi and Siger
at all these we're going out to get everybody bringing
them back. Here come the Rangers.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Here we come three games over, five hundred thirty four
and twenty at home.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
I mean, look here, I mean they've been they have been
on a tear for the last for the last few weeks.
And really, who I mean you had Avaldi just won
what Pitcher of the month for July? And now de Grom, Like, look,
every time de Grom goes out there, it's like, Kershaw,
how long is he really going to pitch for? But
he's been terrific. Suddenly it's like whoa man? The Rangers
the most dangerous team in baseball. Still, it was still
weird that I thought, how are they still trending? After
(03:37):
all these hours later they're like oh oh oh now,
because that's the thing with Twitter now is like you know,
when something is trending, it takes you so long to
go through to find stuff to go what exactly is this?
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Right? It don't look so much noise?
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Absolutely, and this well we'll get to our heart takeing
a second, but we'll do this here now because I
had an idea, right because I got this, like, you know,
looking for the Rangers trying to figure out why the
range is trending right, and I see, here's here's a
Valdi and here's just because it says trending under sports, right,
trending under baseball, which clearly is not the case because
people are tweeting more about politics. So I'm going, you know,
trying to find it. And look, I'm going, okay, I
don't understand. And then after you know, I don't know,
(04:13):
after a minute or so, which a minute I took
one minute after minute, oh, I finally found Oh it's
about this. That's still a lot of it's a lot
to right, but this is the thing. But this is
a thing with Twitter, right. So this is where I
came with idea. This is I'm creating jobs now. It
means I should run for president a few years. I'm
creating jobs because we need a job, especially after what
I'm gonna talk about here. We need a job where
(04:34):
I always and I thought about this because one of
my one of my uh, one of our good friends,
his wife come with you going, you know what, I
love the idea that you can hire have somebody make
out all your holiday cards for you and send them out.
I'm like, that's a thing. I'm like, oh yeah, it's
a great because who wants to no wants sit there
and send out and write out your holiday cards on
That was.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
A fun process because it was a schlocky movie and
I allow myself to eat.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
And drink whatever the all I wanted.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It was funny cheese dust on the cards didn't matter,
but it was for me. Then it got frustrating because
I was like, I said my wife, you go, we
don't talk to these people. Why are we sending them
a car? Why am I making out a car? Why
are you so stressed out about not having their address?
What do we do sony? Because you start spending a
lot of money and time on people, Oh yeah, yeah,
you know, talk to them, and then you don't send
the card.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
They get mad at you. I'm like, yeah, though I
have a whole collection, I'm off the list. You know,
all year you could have said something.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
I know for a fact because I saw it on
Facebook that you vacationed in southern California.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Could have called for a beer. You didn't.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
So she and she said, you know, in that vein,
there should be someone you can hire to deal with
insurance companies like to be the person hire them to
be on the phone to deal with your insurance company,
to wait through all the holds and everything else and
go through it's so frustrating, right to wait through all
the holds and the transfers and call this number and like, Okay,
you know, let me know what we have going on
(05:55):
at the end of the at the end of the day, right,
let me know.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
So I thought I was thinking. I thought about that.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
I said, you know, we need somebody or need people
that whose job it is in social media to take
a story and write it so everybody knows what we're
talking about, right, Because the whole Des Bryant, Nicki Minaj
Micah Parsons thing, I'm like, what the hell it took
me fifteen minutes to go back all week ago. Okay,
(06:20):
so this is what I've been able to parse up.
Dez Bryant is tweeting about the Micah Parsons trade demand
with the Cowboys and that he could start telling stories
about how he was treated and how maybe Micah Parson's
being treated by the cowboys. But he brings up rock
Nation okay and jay Z and then Nicki Minaj jumps
(06:41):
in with, oh, you start telling stories about trades and
I'll tell another one about rock Nation and jay Z
and then they go back and forth at each other,
and then it gets the point where Nicki Minaj is
tweeting about des Bryant's mom and we know the issues
that went on there, and now they're back and forth
and they're fighting.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
I'm like, I don't know what this is about. I
don't want how did this happen?
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Like, but it took me fifteen minutes to figure that
thing out, Whereas if there was somebody's job, which was
like if Twitter hired somebody or you need a group
of people you know, and on social media go okay,
this is going on. I want to know what it's about, right,
because we're about convenience in society. We start that podcast,
you we figure it out for everybody we are now
world according to us, that would be great, except I
(07:23):
want to be able to just type in and have
AI tell me, or have somebody tell me right away.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Ai.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
There's no way they have the two days. They're not
gon uh. It's usually a British voice. Maybe it's Pierce Brosman.
I don't know that's picture. So what happened is Nicki
Minaj decided to weigh in on and so it like,
but I want to know right away. So if there
was someone who Twitter could hire some Okay, this is
your job today. We've got to do is to be
able to summarize what's going on with Des Bryant and
(07:50):
Nicki Minaj and be able to have people can find
it right away say oh, because then people would engage
more and they would be able to, uh right, understand
what it is. Because now it's just if somebody has
a great one liner that gets all the retweets and
it and that's all at the top of what you see.
Like like, Twitter's become such a horrible place. It used
to be great for news. You could figure stuff out
(08:11):
right Now I can't go to Twitter for news. There's
no way I could go because I'm like, I don't
it takes me too long to figure out what's going on.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Because of the way that Elon.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Musk has decided to push Twitter and and and and
take it away from being a new words. It used
to be the most accomplished, the most popular news feed.
Everybody went to Twitter for news. Now it's like I can't.
I can't even go there because I can't I gotta
go to a different site to figure it out. And again,
we're about convenience now in this world, I don't want
to I'm not going back, right, I'm not going back
to trying to But no, so the US, what you
gotta do social media is have people Okay, this is
(08:41):
a big thing, right, everybody's talking about Des Bryan NICKI minach.
Let me just double checking, little know what's going on
with this? Right?
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Is this thing going on here? I don't understand this whole.
Is this a love Island thing? Yes, this is Love Island.
It doesn't It only tangentially involves Jalen Brunson, who is
not tweeting about his unhappiness with the Knicks, but rather
he's being surprised at what's going on with Like, you
have a team of people whose job it is is
to clear stuff up on social media just so we
can understand it. And again I feel like I'm the
old guy now, but I'm like, I don't think.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
So, I don't think. I don't think.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
I don't think it's a point where, hey, if I
wasn't in my early fifties, where I would be able
to understand what's going on with Des Bryant, Nicki Minaj
because I think I summed it up pretty well, right.
Dez's upset, wants to still upset about Jerry Jones, about
what happened with his career ending the way he did
with the Cowboys. He could spill some tea about Micah Parsons,
Michaeh Parson's about his trade situation, and then Nicki Minaj,
(09:33):
but then for some reason he mentions rock Nation, and
then rock Nation is involved, and jay Z is involved,
and Nicki Minaj has her own issues with rock Nation
and now but then they start fighting with each other,
and I do understand why they're fighting with each other
and how it gets back and forth, and des Bryant
didn't tweet about her in the beginning, but then it
turns out maybe he did, and maybe she just added
in Micah Parsons, and I mean, I really, I mean
(09:55):
that's about how this is summed up.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
But I need something a little bit cleaner.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Yeah, No, it does spark irell in rock Nation, you know,
a napkin agreement with Jerry Jones and whatever else was
going on, so like they had to put up all
sorts of notes of no, no, no, you're misremembering and
chaos and whatever else. How about we registered the domain,
tell me like I'm five.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Dot com, explain it to me like.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
I'm and we cut down to brass tags and we
just get the what we need in bullet point form.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
So next year I'll be six, right, and you'll have
less of a surplus to be able to go forward with, like.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I mean it, Like that's a job that I think.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
You know.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Look, so everybody takes social media so seriously, right, athletes, entertainers, politicians, ever.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Social media is a really big deal, specially Twitter, right. Stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Everybody thinks other social medias are gonna cut through, and
they're really not right. It's the Twitter's got and got
too big too fast, and it's still the one place
people go to that has the biggest reach. So I
understand that, but like, now, okay, so let's let's make
it a place where I I, you know, I wanted
to feel inclusive, like I don't want to get on
Twitter and I don't know what the hell this is.
(11:08):
But then if there's another people who are forty thirty five,
twenty five, eighteen, like okay, like I remember what was
it a few months ago that that went viral when
what was it? It was Tom Hanks posted how his
son explained the Drake Kendrick Lamar beef to him like
like like, that's the first guy I would hire.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Is Chad Hanks.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
I'm like, oh, okay, I get it now, now I
get oh and now you understand why they're beefing.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Goes back to the beginning.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
He explained it great, like how do you not have
that for So let's we need somebody for social media?
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Right, we need we need somebody. What's that the title
Curisa explains it all. We need, we need to we
need the uh like like when you have a movie.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
And then he used to show on cable like, hbo
ay the making of Titanic. Oh, all right, that's great,
like you have like time, then the magus, here's all
the special effects and all the gallons of water that
we used, and then I'm mad about you. Once because
Paul Reiser worked for a film company, he did the
making of the making of Titanic because make because Titanic
was such a big movie, the making of Titanic was
too big. They need to do something shorter. So he
(12:08):
did the making of the making of Titanic. This would
be the making of the making of Titanic. You know,
you can get on social media and explain that to you.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
You can now stream the Mad About You reboot.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Yeah, I'm kind of nervous about it. I I love Yeah,
I know, and I've been nervous for a couple of years.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
I'm hesitant. I'm hesitant to jump into that about You.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yeah, has jumped right into my King of the Hill,
though has ten episodes. Oh yeah, yeah, I got the
big got the big cowboys thing. Michael, sure, sure, yeah,
take an advantage. But like that, like that's a skill,
Like that's a skill, Like that's something that I can
see people coming out of college.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
How do I make my mod? Oh no, no, I
work for social media.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
And I unravel plots and I explain them so everybody
gets it. So then like when you type in des
Bright Nicki Minaj, the first thing that comes up is
the explanation from Twitter of what this is. And now
suddenly that tweet gets a lot of attention. Oh now
I understand. Now I get involved in what's happening. Okay,
Now I understand.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
It's funny because we always talked for years on this
show of how we we weave a giant web. Yes, right,
when a story goes it's not just the straight up
And I was like, no, what's all the tangential things?
And this is what you're describing here Where we start
with Des Bryant, we start with Michael Harrison, and there's
Jerry Jones over there at rock Nation, and all of
a sudden, it's spidering effects, six degrees of separation. Eventually
(13:23):
we'll get to Kevin Bacon and Cara Sedgwick if we keep.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Going, yeah, you probably probably you'll get there. Can we
get We get from Nicki Minaj to Kevin Bacon and said,
that's tough.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
She done a movie. She dide a movie, Nicki Minaj. Yeah,
she was in a couple of movies, was she She
was in barber shop? Barbershop? She was in Barbershop? The
one with us Cube, ice Cube? Oh, she was in
the first one.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
No, they made they made like a sequel.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Oh she was I really beauty Shop.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
That was Beauty Shops with Queen Latinfa and Alicia Silva's
yeah right right.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
I just watched that again the other day.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
I got a lot of oh, yeah, we can get
the latter because ice Cube did oh, boy did Boys
in the Hood with Lawrence Fishburn?
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Who did.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
Ice Cub was not in Boys in the Hood. He
was on Friday.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Ice Cube was in Boys in the Hood. Ice Cube
was one of the big start Wow Mary, really, Mary?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Wow? Wow? Wow.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
I'm looking up right now. You just you just lost
your pop culture car right.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
Card though, has been stripped down, like plenty of times.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Ice Cube was not in Boys and Mary. The first
person on cast is ice Cube. Boy?
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Come on?
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Wow this first person?
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Oh, come on, ice Cub as why walk around going domino?
Mother blanker whatever? I see a domino?
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Now we're playing bones. I land on every day.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
I didn't know ice Cub was and boy, you thought
it was iced Tea and Boys and Hood is how
you thought.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
No, I'm not. I've never seen Boys in the Hood.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Though you've you've never seen Boys in the Hood.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
I told you Black Card was stripped a long time ago.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Okay, all right, all right, all right, Well I won't
I won't ruin I won't ruin Boyshood for you.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
But I know he died at the end.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Oh spoiler spoiler, No, but okay, they don't Okay you, Yeah,
you're gonna try to No no, no, he does.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
But you don't see him die. You don't see him
get killed.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
I know, but I see him when like it's in
the post, don't know who's who's but he's like kind
of like crawling on the grass.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Like no, no, he's not. No, you don't know, you
don't know. You don't see it. You don't see it.
He because he goes back about Ricky. You don't thinking
about the drive. That's and then that's Ricky. That's more
before what was was where he was the groom and
they all went.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
To his wedding. Was that?
Speaker 5 (15:37):
That's was that a something? Brothers, I know what you're
talking about.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
That that was a fun movie. I like that was
Hey Diggs and the Big the Big in the promos
when the I'd like to take you to Vermont for
for a Christmas Day?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Uh so you best Man, the best Man? Best best
Man to right? Best Man Too? Was with right?
Speaker 6 (15:56):
That's I think, yeah, when he cries no, but he's
in the first one.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
You've seen both best Men?
Speaker 5 (16:02):
No, I haven't.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
But I know that you know more about the Best
Man Too that you know about Boys in the Hood.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Yes, wow, Boys in the Hood is one of the
greatest isles Man Boys is one of the greatest films
in the last thirty years. Like it's it's incredibly good.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Just so, I mean, I feel bad because it just
so happened to run up against Silence of the Lambs,
which are like, okay, silence of Lamb, I've seen lambs.
Well yeah, well that's say you talk about the best
picture right there. Uh so, all right, so Mary, I'm
sorry about that. We got we got, we got, uh
we got we got off work to do. But that's
a job right now. Speaking of jobs, right, we talked
about job social job course. I told you two minutes ago.
(16:41):
If the Yankees fall two three games out of the playoffs,
Aaron Boone's getting fired.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Going to the ninth inning of the game, where the
Yankees are looking to snap their losing streak after losing
three straight to the Marlins, which has never happened, never happened.
All Devin Williams has to do is close out the nine,
gives up a home run to Jock Peterson to tie it,
and Young has just won it in the bottom of
(17:07):
the tent with a three run homer. The Yankees lose again,
the Rangers win. They gain another game on the Yankees
for the second wildcard, and I'm telling you maybe it's
sooner than two three weeks. I said, Aaron Boons got
till August twentieth, twenty fifth. But when the Yankees fall
three games out of the wild Card, that's it. That's
the only change the Yankees can make. And if they
(17:29):
wind up, they're gonna get rid of them anyway. At
the end of the year's Yankees have a bad year,
they're going to They're not gonna wait to look for
a spark. And this has just been a most abysmal
four games stretch for the Yankees. And again, I almost
feel bad for them. I almost I feel bad for
my dad. I okay, I almost feel bad for my dad.
I almost feel bad for him.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Who man, I can check out him. Now. We'll have

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Maybe it's Saturday morning, maybe Saturday afternoon, maybe Sunday. But
Luca don is going to sign that big extension with
the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
And he did.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Yeah, three years getting paid all right, awesome. Lebron was
not there for his ceremony, some of the Lakers were.
Lebron was not there?
Speaker 3 (20:21):
What was he doing? Well?
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Shortly after the ceremony went on with Luca being there,
he told lucas in the United States a reason he's
signing that deal with the Lakers. He's there the more cutting,
physical and chiseled. Luca half his teammates are there. Lebron
is not there. Oh boy, Lebron, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Oh but just so happens, you know.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
A couple hours later, pictures of Lebron playing golf were
posted on social media. But Lebron did congratulate Luca on
his contract extension. They face timed with each other, and
you know, but Lebron wasn't going to show up at
at the Laker.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Facilities to be a guy standing.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
You saw the picture of Lebron standing with everybody at
the at the Summer League where he didn't want to be.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
There at all. Photoshop.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Yeah, you knew he wasn't coming to this one. But
we can get to that Lebron part of it coming out. Wait, Lebron, bro,
this is the hot take right here, is that what
Luca did was he signed his contract on Saturday, and
then he and he brought some of his teammates. I mean,
maybe that's why they came to the uh the ceremony,
because he took them to Vegas, to the sphere to
(21:23):
go see the Backstreet Boys.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Yeah, Mark Winsor got everybody together concert.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Everybody brought a trading card to get signed.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Will you sign this? Look at Yeah? Can I get
up on stage? Ship? Sure? Why not?
Speaker 1 (21:35):
All on being on stage of the Sphere is kind
of weird. Look, I've told you the Sphere is a
it's a bucket list place. I'm hoping it makes money
and doesn't continue to hemorrhage cash like we've heard, because
it is. It is the most amazing experience you will
have seeing a concert there, seeing an IMAX movie there,
talking to the AI robots who are there and having
conversations with them before. It is an amazing bucket list thing.
(21:56):
And I'm hoping the Sphere does well.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Now. Is having the Backstreet Boys there's gonna be something. Hey,
it's gonna get us to some kind of prosperity. I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
But the fact that Luca loves the Backstreet Boys and
brought us teammates there, I think that's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
It's kind of a cool thing. Everybody dressed in white altogether.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
I mean it's fits eighteen six sold out, right, I
mean it sold out residency.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Yeah, I mean yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:23):
But it can you really charge that much money you're
making that much, like what it costs to operate the
sphere on a daily basis is insane.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
Well, but that's the curiosity I'd love to see, you know,
it's fuzzy math, Okay, okay in terms of what the
the cost is, because I've seen certainly at you know,
for the artists themselves, to where you may not be
making a lot of money even though you have a
giant crowd assembled. It's like, yeah, here's what we got.
We sold out this arena, like say a basketball arena.
(22:53):
So you're talking eighteen nineteen thousand, it's like, yeah, it
was a group we split ten thousand dollars, so everybody
got two grand.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Yeah, like oh okay, because you think about security and
lights and like all the personnel that you have to hire,
and you're not getting any part of the parking or
concessions and a lot of those SHOs oh no, no no.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
So by time you pay off everybody, and why.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
James Dolan was smart, Hey, MSG, and I'm gonna the
next I'm gonna own make sure.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Showing all the concessions and everything else. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
I'm now I'm looking into what does it cost for
a get in for a backstreet.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
I mean, I really I don't think that that they're
gonna make that much like they had. You two did
a residency of like eight months and they didn't make
any money on it.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
I don't know. Floor standing room is four ninety three.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
But part of it is we are we still talking
about the construction costs because because you're probably still paying
a lot back into the actual construction bills and whoever
you paid off to get that constructed quickly. The thing
is we'll get to the hot takeing it. Just trust me,
there's a hot take you're gonna want to hear. But like,
the whole thing is the sphere. The way it's, the
way it's constructed is it's really tiered, Like it's really deep.
(24:00):
Like you walk in at the top and go, oh
my god, I'm gonna fall.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Well, it's like your back areas great fields.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
It's like when you go when you go into a
baseball steam, you sit high up behind your way, you
feel like you're gonna fall. No, this is really you
feel like, oh, I can go forward just a couple
of feet in fall. So there's not a big floor area,
it's just this and the seats kind of go straight up.
But that's part of it, because it's this big omnimax
that comes over you and envelops you, which is which
is part why it is the way the way it is.
But it's not quite that way where the like there's
(24:29):
not as many seats on the flogg you're looking down
at this really small area. The stage is not that big,
not a lot of room to go around on, which
maybe why acts like you two and Backsheit boys. Listen,
We're not gonna run around and jump on the stage.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
That's the way. We had a really small stage for you. Good. Great,
that's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
That's what we're gonna Guns and Roases will be there
because we're not jumping around in the stage anymore either. Yeah,
I'll be the the older Axe will be there. Okay,
but let me just say this now because I really
I feel strongly about this and now this is the
way to talk about it. I love the fact Luca
brings the Lakers to the Backstreet Boys, right. I love
the fact that he loved the Backstreet Boys and they
went to the cont and that's so great. Backstreet Boys
(25:08):
greatest boy band of all time. Really okay, boy band
of all time, better than Menudo, better than Manuda, only had.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
A couple of songs.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Wow, but they kick you out when you're fifteen the
next iteration, yeah, but they can when you were fifty. Well,
what a horrible idea that was. When you're fifteen, you're
out of what do you mean? Out of the band? Sorry?
Speaker 2 (25:26):
What if I want it?
Speaker 1 (25:27):
They age Ricky Martin out man Ricky Martin biggeas pop
hits of all time, living Levina loc If they had
kept him in Menudo, we could be talking about Manudo
like we talk about New Kids on the Block, but
no kick out when you're fifteen.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Sorry, can't go there. Bad job.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Backstreet Boys better than n Sync, better than New Kids
on the Block. And that was my era of Like
when I was in my twenties, when when when New
Kids on the Block. I was playing New Kids on
the Block songs on the radio at Z eighty nine
and Syracuse. When when when they were better? Backstreet Boys?
Best boy band of all time?
Speaker 3 (26:01):
This is great?
Speaker 1 (26:01):
And don't sit here and tell me the beat of
the Beatles are not a boy band. Boyzone, no boy zone.
They're big in Europe. That's fine. Backstreet Boys best boy
band of all started getting into town and a bunch
of guys like that, you know, but all the all
the hits I mean, yes, are the hits back Street
Boys have derivative Yes, because you know, larger than Life
is kind of the same as everybody the same.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
You say that with a lot of bands.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Yeah, but that but like as long as you love
me and I want it that way, very simpl like yeah,
I mean ko TV gave us hanging tough though. Yeah,
New Kids on the Block had one great up. They
had a couple of songs, then they had a really
big album that was it.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Well in Street more and more.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
When you see what Timberlake's doing, Oh yeah, yeah he
left the like that thing he's doing now where they're like, hey,
I just want my money back in these guy's mouth.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Has it moved now? And they stole from Garth Brooks.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
I'm gonna sing one line and now you all sing
the next four minutes while I walk around the stage
and wave at.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
I'm gonna go down.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
I'm gonna go under the stage where all I hear
all the good stuff happened in concert.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Yeah, that's what happens. What about one direction of the
Jonas Brothers than that. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Jonas Brothers had a very short amount of time, and
One Direction was done after what like after what? Two
albums that Zane left appreciate The Disembodied Voice and Patrick
Boy Backstreet Boys had a much longer catalog of songs,
many more hits than one. One Direction really had the
(27:28):
one huge song that That's what makes You Beautiful? One
whoo whoa, whoa Wait, someone who doesn't know that didn't
know that ice cube?
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Everything but one direction?
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Hold on, okay, so everybody's going I want to steal
my girl?
Speaker 5 (27:47):
You and I? What are we talking about?
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Songs? And are as good as I want it that way?
By the way, tell don't tell me why.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Nick.
Speaker 5 (27:56):
I don't think Nick could ever hit Zanes the I
know that.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Hey, musical musicianship is really irron No talking about.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
We're going boy, They're not.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
They're not clearing, that's clear. They see.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
It's all about the production value anyway, Like the actual
talent doesn't matter.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
Simon Cowell went for those boys and cow.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
L a Reid, what are you told me you'd be
a paste? One direct? One direction.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
I'd like somebody to finished higher than third on X Factor. Okay,
so just you want to really talk, they couldn't even
come in more third and the UK version of X Factor,
not like the big one in the United States, like
in the UK version.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Number one in our hearts.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Doesn't I know, I need to give hey the number
one in the hearts. But you got to quit playing
games with my heart. See again, I'm gonna win. I'm
gonna win.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
There is a new Jonas album coming out clock get
your uh autographed version of it. And they have a
new Disney Christmas movie. No, that's great.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
Boys can't do that, but hey they can.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Jonas brothers are popular, right and they fell out. Two
of them are popular. Two of them are popular. But
that's okay. I'm not sitting here talking about popularity. I'm
talking about who had the best boy band? And backtreet
Boys was the best boy band. There's a reason why
they're touring still when their heyday was in the early
two thousand, late night.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Touring at this point, and.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
It's because they owed debt Taylor.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Harry Styles is not touring because he's become bigger than
that and and but it doesn't matter.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Actually, no, I think he's actually dropping a single, like
right now, he's in the middle.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
So I miss him. He's in the middle of dripping.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
So it's the one concert that we regret that we
miss Harry Styles. Yeah, he'll get a chance to see
Harry Styles again. He'll be back in concert.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Might actually be cheaper this, you'll get to see it. Yeah,
the price Gillmore of the two that we were most.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Well, they're never going to be together. Not together, but
like in there because I can't see David Gilmore opening
for Harry Style. I don't know played with everybody at
some point David Gilmore might do the same and just
you guys.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
Are forgetting The Time Rush. By the way, Big Time
Rush was like a conversation in this So.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
You think you can tell Harry from Zane everybody Harry.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Style, you're not yet. You're not going to get.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Shine on you crazy Diamond into Wonderreggn.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
You're not. It's not happening. I wasn't.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
David Gilmore Harry Styde really smashed them together. I met
them as separate event.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
That'd be the worst concert to see, To see people
from completely different backgrounds at a concert.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Like, I think that's pretty cool. That would be Harry.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Styles instead of saying, hey, we want somebody that's going
to be kind of like us, but not quite as
big as us, because we really want all the attention.
So it's going to be a small, up and coming
band that plays rock and roll. We're a rock band,
or you want an up and coming rapper because we're
you know, a hardcore band or whatever. People from completely
different walks of life together on the same belt.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Well, I mean they are bold and British. I mean
we we got that going for burn Burn.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
Backstreet Boys, best boy band ever, most hits, must ever
telling you man, Luca Luka Dontag had it right with
Backstreet Boys.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
At how about a Fresco at Swollen Dome at Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
This might be your hottest take ever. Hey, you could
really infuriate a lot of I mean, it's.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Not like forgetting that ice Cube was the principal and
boys in the.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
You know yeah yeah, yeah, poor do. No, it is exit.
I'm about a Fresca exit Swollen Dome. The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Carbon, time out to
find out what's trending in the wide world sports From
a guy who's been called the Backstreet boys of Fox
Sports Radio, because he walks around saying, hey, show me
(31:59):
the meaning of being lonely.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
It's Steve Disaga.
Speaker 8 (32:02):
Wow, Wow, somebody's going to be more and lonely after this.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Sins show me the meaning of being lonely.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
It's just the feeling.
Speaker 8 (32:12):
Tell me why nothing, and the answer is me, I'm
going to be now now.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
The answer was obvious in Wayna's day.
Speaker 8 (32:21):
By the way, can we talk about the third place
New York Yankees because they have lost eighteen of their
last twenty three on the road for the first time
since nineteen ninety one. They're five and a half game
behind the first place Blue Jays, who just won fifteen
to one at Colorado. Toronto's offense went twenty five for
fifty at the plate. Boba Schet with three hits, six RBIs,
(32:43):
including a couple homers. And this Toronto team well add
a w that's sixty six wins on the season, sixty
three for Boston. They're three games back. The Red Sox
have won six games in a row. They beat Kansas
City eight to five. It was eight to one going
to the eighth inning. As for the late Bowl games,
Cardinals at Dodgers one to one going to the bottom
(33:04):
of the seventh. Tyler Glass now was seven strikeouts in
his seven innings, one hundred and one pitch is thrown.
Diamondbacks lead the Padres five to two in the top
of the sixth. In Anaheim, Angels over the Rays five
to one in the bottom of the seventh inning. Texas
beat the Yankees in ten innings eight to five on
a three run homer by Josh Young. Pinch Hitter Jock
Peterson tied it with a solo shot in the bottom
(33:25):
of the ninth off Devin Williams. Cincinnati beat the Cubs
at Wrigley Field three to two tonight by the way
Nick Lodolo left in the second inning red starter with
a blister. The Cubs offense went three for twenty nine
at the plate. There are now three games back at
the first place Brewers in the NL Central. Milwaukee won
three to one at Atlanta. In the NL East. The
(33:46):
first place Phillies lead the Mets by game and a
half now, as the Mets were beaten at home in
ten innings Cleveland seven to sixth the final. Pete Alonso
four hits, four RBIs, including a home run in defeat
the Phillies hit six home runs in home win against
Baltimore thirteen to three. Kyle Schwarber with two of the
long balls. He has forty homers this year. Victories for
(34:08):
Houston and Pittsburgh. Detroit beat Minnesota six to three. Buffalo
Bill's running back James Cook set out practice for a
second straight day. Texas and Ohio State are one two
in the preseason Coaches Bowling College Football. Texas will open
at Ohio State August thirtieth on Fox TV.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Back to You, Thank You, Steve, The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Not gonna have a hotter take of the week than
Backstreet Boys, best boy band.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Of all time? Pretty good, Lucas got it right. Lucas
got it right.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
Yeah, it's not my wheelhouse, so I'm gonna have to
do some more copious research.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Bono, it's a very different play.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
I don't think the Afghan wigs and Twilight singers or yeah,
I don't think those qualify.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dome. Mike Harmon
is going to go try to find tickets to see
David Gilmour and Harry Ston together in concert. I'm gonna
mash them up. Man, Let's go well straight ahead. I
think people are just out and out lying to us
sometimes in sports. That's next Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
We're not as good as the Backstreet Boys, but this
song's good.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
It is the best.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
But their catalog is better than ours, even though with
superior musicians. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon boy Band Night, this is
this is a fun song to dance to.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
I will say that it is. It's a good it's
great song.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
It's a This is one of those songs that you dance,
you do you just like jump up in the air,
just keep jumping up and down.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Swing State Samson says, don't forget about hands.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
And Oh Dude as much as Hanson's my ring tone.
But come on, man, Hanson had two songs.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Just I mean, we at least need to make the
mention yeah no, no.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Where they fall in the pantheon of boy bands main history,
album sales and and in.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Your heart, no umbop is my ring tone because when
we binged House, that was House's ring tone for his team.
So like my team, my wife and my daughter, that's
my ringtone.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Form like oh my.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Team, my team is calling because he had mumbap for
all the young so that's my ring tone. But still
not but you're you're talking about Bacsi boys, the best
point Ben of all time, best point Ben.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
I'd have to go out and see him at the
sphere so I can decide for myself.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
That'd be an interesting crowd to go hang out. Shooter Skippy.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
You know, if I wanted to call him sick, tonight
would have been one of those nights because one of
the greatest artists of all time.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
Is performing locally. Bob Hope, Shakira, Oh, Shakira, Shakira. All right, good, we.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Might just end up watching music videos instead. You have
lots of time, Well, you can take days, you can
take days and go, but I'd rather be here talking
to you about boy baby.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Oh no, who did you come in and say the
other day?
Speaker 1 (37:06):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (37:06):
I shouldn't have worked and I should have gone to
see who was it that you had to Yeah?
Speaker 1 (37:10):
John Stamos I'm like, come on, man, you should It
shouldn't be a choice going oh I want.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
To see you or see Stamos. You can be seen me.
It's not like saying, oh, I see I couldn't Billy,
I see you all I could have seen you, or
I could have seen Metallica, like I could have seen that.
Speaker 4 (37:23):
Oh no, no, happy sixteen second James Headfield, Stay, yeah
they might be at the sphere next year.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
The oh they could be.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
So we are not getting an expansion of the NCAA
Tournament this year. Men's and women's fields will not be
expanding beyond sixty eight teams this year, but future growth
does remain on the radar. This accorded to NCAA Senior
Vice President of Basketball Dan Gavitt, who announced this on Monday.
They continue to have conversations about whether to recommend expanding
the seventy two or seventy six teams in advance of
(37:54):
the twenty twenty seven NCAA Tournament. Here's where I sit
here and say, you know what, people are just straight
up lined us, right, They're just absolutely lined us. This
was from nca President Charlie Baker that said the biggest
obstacle that needs to be overcome in this situation. Expand
that the tournament by four teams is logistics. Quote, the
(38:18):
tournament has to start after the conference championships are over
right now, Selection Sunday happens like two hours after the
last tournament game ends and has to finish by the
Tuesday before the Masters. Okay, none of this is new, right,
there's not a lot of room there any expansion. We're
gonna have to figure out how to put it in
and then logistically how to make it work. So wait,
what you're telling me is, you can't add two games.
(38:39):
You can't add two playing games where you can't do it.
You already have games. You already games on Tuesday one,
you take one day off, you have playing games on
Tuesday and Wednesday you have First four and Tuesday. You
can't add two more games. Really, you can't add two
more games. Can't add four more teams.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
And two more games. Can do it?
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Move the schedule a little bit and do it. No,
you can't do it for a tournament that is let's see,
it's it's it's August. September is coming up because the
end of Septeer.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Oh no, it's not. It's in October. It's in a Halloween.
Oh no, it's not. It's in, it's in. It's I
can't do. This is too long.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
October, November, December, January, February. Oh you talk about a
tournament that's eight months away. Oh no, we can't figure
out how to add two games, two playing games. Just
to remember, you're getting to sixty four by third, it's
all you gotta do. You can add as many bleeping
games as you want to to get to sixty four
by third. I would just want I would I think
now we are so much more sophisticated to sports fans.
(39:28):
I would rather just the NCA say, listen, we have
a lot of people, and there's a lot of money
at stake here, and we can't figure out who to
make happy whether we add four teams from the at
large bid? Do we have There's a lot of money
makers that want to make sure that if we're going
to expand they get preferential treatment. R It's why we
see the whole thing with the college football playoff, right, Oh,
SEC should.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Get more, the Big ten should get more. They're the
biggest two conferences.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
I'd rather just then be honest and say we got
a lot of greedy people that we can't figure this out.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Don't give me logistics. You can't add two games.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
That's why we're going now, that's why we're here to
go and decide for that.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
Right the tell it to me like I'm five. Dot
com site comes up very big right here as well.
It's it's all lying in obfuscation, every bit of it.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Right. Politicking on the football side.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
No, we need our four automatic. No, it should be
five and eleven more democratic way I'm doing. We go
through all of that and then we get to this
like logistics, No, no, no, you can jam two more games.
You can jam eight more games. There's plenty of venues
that would love an extra day of gate. That is
not going to be a problem that time of year,
(40:35):
There's no question about it. If someone's got to move
some subpar banned out to another facility to make good,
