Speaker 1 (00:28):

An unmached selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection
at over ten thousand recommended in stallers. Tyrack dot com
is the way tire buying should be. So here we are.
We got Mark Stein coming up in about twenty minutes.
All the latest on Team USA basketball? Is there drama?
How happy is Joellenbiian after his day today? I really

(01:03):
I was, I was watching, and I'm going boy, his
press conference after the game is gonna be off the
hook because he just looked so so disinterested and so
mad on the bench, like he never took his shirt off.
He's like he's never coming into the game, like he
knows it right, Like, I'm not coming into the game.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I know it.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Ad gets hurt. Nope, not coming into the game not
GOODA maybe not playing.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
That would have been fun. You're going in? Nope, man, Nope,
distributing gatorain. I refuse to go in. I am not
going it. I refuse to sign that match.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
So we'll have more on that story coming up in
about twenty minutes. But uh, listen Big NFL topics over
the course of the next fifteen minutes and look a
little bit more on the on the topic we talked
about a few minutes ago. All of a sudden, today
Arthur Blank feels the need to defend Kirk Cousins as
the franchise quarterback, and Michael Pennix Junior is a guy
they love, but Kirk's the franchise And now there's reports

(01:56):
that Cousins even recently, is still not happy with the
fact that he's gotten Michael Pennix Junior looking over his shoulder.
And I would I would normally say there's quarterbacks that
can handle this, right, there's quarterbacks that can handle Hey,
the guy's playing the I'm the guy.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
They signed a guy behind the guy behind me.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Okay, But does Kirk Cousins strike you as a guy
that's gonna play well with a guy looking over his
shoulder also coming back from injury like you saw Kirk
Cousins on quarterback. The guy's a little different than a
lot of other He's got a room under the stairs
for all his trophies. Does he strike you as someone
that's gonna be Yeah, No, I get it. The fact
that he's still not happy about it. He talked about

(02:36):
it after the draft, he talked, talked about it now.
The fact he's still not happy do you really think
he is? He is mentally ready to go into this
season and say, Okay, big training camp, play big.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
I'm not gonna worry about anything else.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Even though they drafted Michael Pennix Junior to be the
guy and I can be on a different team next year.
That's a big reason why I can see this go sideways.
Cousins is a big confidence guy. He's a big confid quarterback.
He has done well so far in his career when
he's been the unherralded guy, or when he's unquestionably been
the guy. But when you put somebody right behind a player,

(03:10):
you don't know how they're gonna react. And that's the
big thing is that certain guys like Okay, I get
it right, Like they lit the fire under Aaron Rodgers
when the Packers drafted Jordan Love, Oh what are you doing?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Well?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Turned out turned out great because Aaron Rodgers won two
MVPs and now they got a guy that they felt
so good for the game, Jordan million dollar contract extension.
Some guys, it works for some guy. Kirk Cousins, Yeah,
I don't see it. I don't see him saying yeah,
I can block all the noise out and just come
in and play and play well coming back from injury,
trying to lead a team when when the yells from

(03:41):
Michael Pennix Junior are gonna be there, And you know,
Arthur Blank is just not even telling the truth when
he says, oh, Kirk's our guy.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
For the next few years.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Don't we all know.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
We all know what's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
We all know in the spring you're gonna trade him
because Penix has to play, because you drafted the guy
number nine. You think you're gonna be Jordan Love and
you're gonna suddenly say oh it's okay, it's a pack
to play for.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Tooth three years.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
You're insane.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
You know that's not happening.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
But maybe they don't, because, as I've said, the Falcons
aren't ready for the smoke that's coming their way. But
I thought it would be another few months, it would
be after this year. But now the last couple of
the last week or so, with everything going on, Oh no, no,
this has happened much sooner than that.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
What's funny is because the hype train didn't quite match
what's going on with the Bears. And we'll get our
first taste of the Bears tomorrow in the Hall of
Fame game. And everybody's on board, right, everybody's loving it.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Excuse me, all right there, buddy, Yeah, choking like the
White Sox man, Come on, well, getting choked up talking
about the Bears.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
What are you gonna do? There's actually hope. Going back
to your Barack Obama. I thought you were gonna start
talking about hope and change and stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
But though the White Sox need change, Mike, let me
tell you. The White Sox need change. They need new players,
they need new everything.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Maybe they need to move.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Maybe if they move, We'll build that stadium in Arlington
and they'll play there instead of the Bears.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
T they may move to Nashville about the same time
I do. But the matter is the Falcons were Wait
wait wait wait wait wait wait. Yeah, that's a pretty
good Obama impression. I get nothing that was. In fact,
it's a pretty good Obama. That's a pretty good one.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
No, Look, if we're gonna rank here, I mean I'm
gonna put up a page to rank Jason's impressions.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Look, Mike, Mike, ranking, ranking, ranking is so two thousand
and nine.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Okay, I realized that's when I was two thousand nine.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
Let me see if you could really channel Obama. Who's
your favorite white Sox player? Oh, a favorite white Sox Well,
you know I have a lot of them. Uh, they're
they're they're all very good. Uh last few years, I
would say Shoreless, Joe Jackson, nicely done. I think they
eventually had a parade of guys with their backs to
him in front of him, pointing to putting in the back.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Staine just say his name.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Uh, but Charlie Sheen was a good white Sox player.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
So it was David Straight Theren and John cusack boy
who can forget him?

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Better off dead?

Speaker 5 (05:54):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (05:55):
One of the members of the Black Sox Boy he
was great.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
The guy from NYPD Blue that played Metavoi. He was
a good he was a good catcher, pretty good.

Speaker 7 (06:03):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
James Reid a lot of made for TV movies clap Year,
he was left good for.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Ye I'm gonna go there. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
And then the other bad guy from die Hard to
as Risburg shortstop.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
He was good.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
Showed a depth of cast knowledge right there in terms
of relating them to other roles, kind of like Yon do.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Don't forget Yon do at first base?

Speaker 5 (06:20):
Maybe the White would have won it nine Hey, you know,
tenth anniversary Guardians of the Galaxy too.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
But minor one.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
If Yandhu could have done that whole thing and put
it through the Red's heads in nineteen nineteen, they would
have won the World Series.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Could have done that was pitching, could do some magical
stuff with the baseball.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Let me tell you, hey, let me check your hands
and your glove.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Hey have had it, pal But the fact of the
matter is the Falcons, you know, have also been one
of those sexy teams for sexy people in terms of
their what they've got run game, offensive line, weaponry, and
then Captain Kirk assuming he stands up right right, mobility
coming off of his injury doesn't matter. He has never
been that guy, uh except in the booth when he

(07:01):
was hurt and rocking the chain. Look other than that,
you know, he's a statue back there and that's what
you're paying him big money to be. So it's I'm
not jumping off the bandwagon. But if Blank is issuing
this statement, that means somebody's still making some noise, right
and asking questions about well, so probably many of them

(07:23):
that Aaron Rodgers did you know?

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Going back to Green Bay and they're drafting of Jordan.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Love now this is obviously a few slots.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Higher in said draft and thinking I'm coming in with
a massive contract and.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Generally has it.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
It seemed like kirksmore the mercenary type where the dollars
and the business status has trumped everything.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
I think so like.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
He's a good team guy and I have no doubt
that he'll be just fine. From Michael Pennix Junior, I'm
not worried about him looking over his shoulder. I'm just
worried about him not being able to evade a big
hit early and Pennick's getting the call and going going
full on, you know, Dennis Quaid, you know, kind of
crumbling in any given Sunday to where Pennick's better be ready.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carbon Live from the
Tirech dot Com Studios. So from one quarterback situation to another,
I have already resigned myself to the fact that every
day I'm gonna wake up and the first thing in
my timeline is gonna be Aaron Rodgers arguing with Garrett
Wilson on the field. Sure, like I've read, apparently that's
gonna happen every day. They're gonna be yelling at each

(08:29):
other on the field. They're gonna shake hands afterward. It's
gonna be Are Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson upset with
each other?

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Do they can't?

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Do they not like each other? Because that's been the video,
right and twice in the last three days now it's happened.
Aaron Rodgers addressed to today and said, listen, everything's fine.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
At the end.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
We're both laughing, or at least one of us is,
And I'm like, great, great, this is just this is
to quote Maggie O Hooligan from Caddy Shack. That's all
I need. Like, that's all I need right now, right.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
That's all I need? Is okay? Great?

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Now Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Well, because I watched the
conversation and it's you know, it's like everything is to say.
It's like Rogers walking over saying hey, what's wrong and
a big look on his face like, hey, what's happening.
And then it's Garrett Wilson very demonstratively talking about stuff
and looking like he's really upset. And then they they

(09:20):
this goes on for about fifteen seconds, and then they
shake hands.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
At the end and Aaron Rodgers smiles as he walks away,
and I go.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
The same thing every Dayah, yeah, yeah, the Jets can't
have nice things.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
No, you can't.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
No, No, he's a you know, here's the thing. I thought, Hey,
we're gonna be done with Aaron Rodgers controversy. He's in
camp now, he's not doing podcasts. Everything's gonna be fine. Nope.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
No, here's a couple of days where he's fighting with
Garrett Wilson. Now he's gonna talk about it in practice
after today like he did to address it. To try
to tamp down. Everything is fine. We're on the same page.
He's gotta get on my same page. I gotta get
in his same page. We all love each other. Okay.
Every day I wake up and I go is if
I see Rogers and Wilson and trending, I know what's happening.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Please let there not just.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Be a fight between the two of them, because you
know they're both gonna wind up getting hurt if they
wind up throwing punches.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
At each other.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
That's kind of funny, I asked for so little, Mike,
I really do two of them walking towards each other,
finger pointing and screaming, and then eventually.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Wilson swings his helmet at Rogers and breaks his hand.
Rogers punches him in the nose, breaks his nose.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
Yeah, it's funny because people now have the ready made
memes of you know, if you hadn't been.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
In Egypt, dot.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Dot dots, like you know, like that's the beginning and
end of all the interaction wrap ups.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
What could they actually be arguing about.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
It's not matter what play went awry during the scrimmage,
and like there were a lot of people just pointing
out how efficient and effective that Aaron Rodgers was for
the balance of the practice. But I like that you're
focusing on the terse moments and those words because they
have been frequent. So they either bring them together or
eventually they'll have to be separated. I'm hoping for the

(11:08):
latter because it's better comedy and better theater for me.
I would guess it's the former, because Aaron Rodgers realizes
the only road to becoming, you know, a multi top,
multiple super Bowl winner and winning quarterback is that Garrett
Wilson has to have a monster season. Otherwise you're relegated

(11:29):
to being one of those guys who's the greatest of
all time in the regular season and just couldn't get
it done again when it mattered. You can't take away
that win over the Steelers. Always gonna be there in
Jerry's palace. I watched it personally, much to my chagrin.
But Garrett Wilson is the key. He's the lynchpin to
it all. And as soon as Rogers and his ego

(11:50):
get that and just go up to him and say,
all right, what are you seeing? What are we missing?
How do we fix this? As opposed to finger pointing
history onics. The face is Aaron Rodgers eye roll. The
better off you'll be.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
You know, Here's what I do, because let me tell
you what I do. This is what I do to
calm myself down.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
I'm not lying.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
I'm telling you the true. No, well there is that.
But what I do is I go, okay, you know
I can't deal with this. Let me just find the
nice super slow mo because they do this for Aaron
Rodgers more than any other player. Let me find the
great super slow mo of Rogers dropping back to pass
from practice today and hitting somebody with like a forty
yard dime right like, and I just I just watch

(12:31):
it over and over of him dropping back really smooth,
the stop, the release, the slow mo. I follow the
football it falls in someone's arms. Today was Malachi Corley,
you know, falls into his arms for a touchdown. I
just go, ah, now, this is what I need. This
is nice and serene. This is like going for a
massage and hearing the music going on here.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
The boom boo booooo. Are you calm? Yes, I'm very calm.
I'm very zen.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
I'm watching Aaron Rodgers slow moving, just throwing the foot,
wearing the red jersey, throwing the football, seeing it caught,
throwing the football, seeing it caught. It's on a seventeen
second loop. And I could just sit here and watch us.
And then I put my fingers, put my fingers to
my neck, feel my pulse go down. Okay, now I
feel okay, Now I can go on with the rest
of the day. I've watched the Aaron Rodgers Zen slow
mo videos. I'm okay, now.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
You get that full on relaxation and pause. No, I
dig that, I do. You're uh, You're gonna be okay, buddy.
By the way, we will either celebrate your your winds
or will laugh in great uh harmony as it.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
All falls apart.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Breathe in breathe that you're upset it but no, don't
know where.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Just watch the video of him throwing this sade to Garrett.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Will se help, Let's.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
Light a candle.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Watches him dropping back and throwing the football like I've
gotten to the point really with him watching him at
practice when I see him warm up and he drops
back and he kind of does this thing now where
he stands on his left foot and kind of spins
his his his uh right foot up in the air
around like he's being cool. I go, he's okay to
do that, Like I don't want him throwing like he's

(14:13):
not compensating for something, right, Like he's not okay, no, no, no,
don't get he's not just watching is yeah, I'm gonna go,
is he just relying on his arm now because his
legs aren't don't have the strength, because watch you make
these throws, Like he'll just step up and practice and
he'll throw this little like he'll zip this little pass
and it's all arm and it's all hips and his
right leg comes off the ground and that kind of

(14:33):
spins in the air, and I'm going, ooh, he's not compensating.
He's compensating. No, no, no, go back and watch the
slow mo videos. Go back and I'll watch the slow
mo videos. Okay, everything is fine. And you get one
of those, you.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
Know, he throws his head back and his hair's all wet,
like he's Nick Cage and everything's fine.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
He's good, like the like the one shot of Twisters
with Glenn Powell walking and he's got the T shirt
and the cowboy hat and the rein I'll tell you
that spoiler alert for someone who's seen Twisters and Twisters
is really good, going with no expectations and you'll really
really like it. I'm telling he was good. That shot
is in the movie for no reason whatsoever. It's it's

(15:12):
it's no reason whatsoever. No, I okay, it's in the
movie for no reason that has an there's nothing to
do with the plot. No, because here's this doesn't give anything,
give anything away. He is getting up in the morning
and going to his truck, like that's the shot.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
So okay.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
So in the morning in the rain, he's walking to
his truck, just in the in a in a T
shirt and a cowboy hat, and he's walking really.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Slow, like who walks really slow?

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Just dressed like that in the rain when there's tornadoes
going on, like nobody does. It's just in the movie. Hey,
we gotta have Glenn Pale. It's that big, sexy walk
with a T shirt and the cowboy And that's the
only scene he wears the cowboy hat in like he's
not doesn't wear that cow but not in any He's
got different hats.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
It's like, it's the only tell me where it's only
tell me.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Is that someone wore that to the set that day
and he said that would look cool.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Hey, take that off and give me your shirt.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
What.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
No, take it off and give me your shirt. And
the director goes, yeah, take that off, give me your shirt.
What what, We'll get you a shirt from the prop department.
Just take it off and give it to him. If
Glenn Powell wants a shirt, you give Glenn Powell a shirt.

Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Tyraq dot com studios,
where the big Olympic highlight of the day of the
United States.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Not as much trouble this time with South Sudan.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
They wind up winning. Don't cover the twenty nine and
a half points spread.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
As we see once again, the story is going to
be about who does and doesn't play. We got Jason Tatum,
we got Joelle Embiid. How big a deal is this?
US now on the hotline to break it all down?
Nobody better? Longtime NBA inside or friend of the show,
Mark Stein You can follow on Twitter at the Steinline.
That is at the Steinline Mark Happy summer Man how

(18:12):
you doing, Jen?

Speaker 9 (18:15):
All good? All good?

Speaker 7 (18:19):
Who's playing and not playing is not the story of
the day for me, you know, I think it's that
is completely the wrong direction to go. But hey, you
guys are my friends. I'm a friend of the show.
If that's what you want to ask me about fire Away.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Oh well, here's the thing is, we talked about it
earlier that this seems to be something that is more
made up in a and A story because it's it's
it's just weird to try to find the drama, Like,
I don't see this being something that the team is
affected by. I think Steve curR is doing a really
good job tamping this down. And hey, they're they're gonna
win the gold medal. It just gets to be a

(18:55):
little bit tougher. Uh, you know, every every year, every Olympics.
But when that has it's okay, let's blow up the
fact that Jason Tatum doesn't play. Okay, I mean, that's it,
But I can't control a people feel when they see
guys like Tatum and MB not playing.

Speaker 7 (19:09):
Yeah no, look, there's obviously some people are going to
gravitate to that. I get it. It's an easy headline.
It can get people riled up whatever. But you know,
I I think you guys know I love my international basketball.

Speaker 9 (19:23):
I've gone to the Olympics three times.

Speaker 7 (19:25):
I did three World Cups as well, and I love
coveringing the international game.

Speaker 9 (19:31):
And I have to say the team is gelling compared to.

Speaker 7 (19:37):
What how things look in the five exhibition games with
no Durant, And just how much more this looks like
a team get two games into the Olympics. It's a
staggering difference, and it's you know, look, Kevin Durant's return
is obviously a huge part of that, because you're bringing
Durant off the bench now and that second unit has

(19:58):
just been lethal scored in the sixties today off the bench.
South Sudan getting fourteen off their bench. Obviously, South Sudan
as a good thing going with its starters, but is
not being able to come anywhere close to matching the
US steps. But I really see a team that is
buying in right now and when they function like that,

(20:22):
when when everyone is putting teams first, and also when
they defend, when the United States defends like this, and
just with the kind of defenders they're bringing in the games,
when they come to you with an out of Bio,
a Drew Holiday, a Derek White. I mean, they when
they defend and turn it up at that end, nobody's

(20:47):
going to compete with them. And the reality is the
United States just hasn't had a roster like this in
a long long time. Twenty nineteen, at the World Cup
in China, I was there. They finished seventh nowhere, not
even in the same zip code roster wise compared to
what they have now. And even the last Olympics in Tokyo,
the roster wasn't as strong as this one is. And

(21:10):
this roster is just star laden. And I do agree
with what you said. I think Steve Kerr has everyone
buying in putting the team first, and when they play
with this kind of attitude, there's nobody in the field.
Even with all the advances that we've seen in the
international game, I promise you the other strong teams in

(21:31):
this tournament, your Canada's, your Serbia's, your Francis, your Germany.
They did not want to see this this early from
the United States. But I think that South Sudan, that
first South Sudan game, was a wake up call. They
didn't bring it at all defensively in that game and
that exhibition in London they almost got beat. They probably

(21:52):
should have taken an l South Sudan had multiple chances
of the buzzer to win that game, and they've responded
really really well.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
To that mark.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
How do you feel about the officiating related to unsportsmanlike
plays owing to Anthony Davis today and then the ejection
of Ruy Hatchimura that had both Smith and I scratch
in our heads.

Speaker 7 (22:14):
Yeah, the stuff in that France Japan game that belongs
in its own category. And really you have to feel
for Japan, which has all of one NBA player in Hatchamura,
who played great in that game, and first he gets
ejected onto two of those unsportsmanlike fouls that you know,

(22:37):
both were debatable, and then the contact on the four
point play that for overtime also we will politely say
very just debatable. And look, France has not been right
for weeks. They are the hosts. They were last seen

(22:57):
in the gold medal game in Tokyo. Remember in Tokyo
they beat the United States in the Olympic opener. They
lost the gold medal game narrowly. At that twenty nineteen
World Cup. I've already mentioned France, not the United States
on the metal round in that competition. In the quarterfinals,
the French are playing at home and have Victor Wemgyam.

(23:17):
You know, they are expected to at least medals, and
they have just looked. They lost four straight exhibition games
before the Olympics got started. They very easily could have
lost to Japan, which is one of the weakest teams
in the twelve team field.

Speaker 9 (23:34):
So they are a mess.

Speaker 7 (23:35):
And you know, I you know, it's you know, for
our purposes. Obviously, we are laser focused on the United
States first, second, third, fourth, and fifth. But if you're
an international hoop head, to see France in this state still,
I am grasping for an explanation.

Speaker 9 (23:56):
I don't have one.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Well, here's the thing, Marcus on the other way, because
I'm not because seeing how these games are being officiated, right,
seeing Hatchamri get thrown out, seeing a d get that
ridiculous flagrant. Today, by the time we get to the
gold medal game, France is going to be the only
players with anybody eligible, So they're just gonna walk right
up to the podium again get the gold medals.

Speaker 9 (24:17):
I wouldn't go that far. Nothing, nothing, nothing I'm gonna take.

Speaker 7 (24:22):
I'm going to make me not so bold prediction that
nothing is going to stop the United States as long
as they continue to defend the way they are and
move the ball the way they are, and when you
have so many guys putting team first, I mean, I
don't know that Embiid was super thrilled about not playing tonight,
earlier today obviously our time. I'm sure Tatum is still

(24:45):
kind of processing and getting passed not playing in the
first game. But you know, look, I know what it's
like for these coaches. You know, like you think Steve
Kerr faith.

Speaker 9 (24:56):
Pressure coaching the Warriors.

Speaker 7 (24:58):
Who made five great trips of If you think expectations
were high, then I mean this there is no I mean,
you are not allowed to lose ever. No, I mean
you go inter that everyone who's joined that team knows
what you are signing up for.

Speaker 9 (25:14):
You are not ever allowed to lose.

Speaker 7 (25:16):
If you do, it's an absolute international incident. And so
when you're the coach, you just want to get to
win any way you can. And you know Steve Kerr
will deal with us talking about who's not playing all
day long.

Speaker 9 (25:31):
If they keep winning.

Speaker 7 (25:32):
His job is to just get this team to the
finish line by any means necessary.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
I chuckle watching watching the play, though, I don't think
other than fighting with Twitter trolls, I've seen Kevin Durant
is happy in his entire NBA career.

Speaker 9 (25:47):
He's a fantastic international player.

Speaker 7 (25:49):
I mean, he just there's no one, you know, he's
shooting over everybody. I mean, he's is his fourth Olympics.
He's done it so many times, and it truly is remarkable,
just his ability to just shake off Russ and I
mean the guy hadn't played for three months, and just
how he looks in these first two games. Don't think

(26:12):
you've missed a three yet. It's just the guy is
he is as close to automatic as it gets.

Speaker 9 (26:18):
I mean, and.

Speaker 7 (26:19):
Watching him and just watching him shoot a basketball as
a you know, I tweeted it during the opener. There
are not many things prettier than just watching Kevin Durant
shoot a basketball.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Mark Snine with us here Fox Sports Radio. All right,
So going forward.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Uh, you know, we're gonna obviously see this team, as
you said, continue to gel. There's gonna be a couple
of players who log the d NPCDS.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
How do you see it.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Going as as far as you know, playing time, some
players that might lose some time going forward, because I
have a hard time believing even if Steph shoots one
for nine, he's gonna sit Steph.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
But you never know.

Speaker 7 (26:53):
No, yeah, I would you think so either. But look
in the international game, it is an adjustment. It's a
lot more physical, and you know, the United States is
trying to move the ball around a lot, and it's
not The offense is not going to be designed like
it is for Step and Curry in Golden State, where
everything revolved around planet Step.

Speaker 9 (27:13):
It's just not going to be like that.

Speaker 7 (27:15):
But it's like, you know, you know that's another but
you know, I've heard that conversation day too. Oh my god,
got one for nine crisis, Like people are just grasping
for anything that we concern into a crisis here.

Speaker 9 (27:26):
I mean, is anybody going to.

Speaker 7 (27:28):
Be surprised if step makes six threes in the next game?
Agins Puerto Rico. No, you're not going to be surprised.
I mean, this team just has a lot of weapons
and it's going to be I think different guys emerging
in every game. And look, Canada is excellent. Canada also
has ten NBA players. Australia has a quality team. And

(27:50):
look that group with Canada, Australia, Spain and Greece. You know,
the teams that come out of that are going to
be so well prepared for the Metal Round because that group.

Speaker 9 (27:59):
Is so top.

Speaker 7 (28:00):
You know, Germany won the World Cup last summer and
we've already seen them play the United States tough in
an exhibition game. You know, Serbia they've seen the United
States have seen them twice. You know they're due to
play a much better game. So I mean, there are
there are better teams in the field down the road.
But again with this assemblage of talent, you know, it's

(28:25):
again I've been covering I've been covering this program since
the two thousand Worlds in Indianapolis, and I can't remember.
I mean, this is one of those rare times. Is
it happened? Okay, maybe it happened in two thousand and eight,
twenty twelve of those Olympics, But it's a very rare
occurrence that the United States can say we have a
full strength squad. They have a full strength.

Speaker 9 (28:47):
Squad right now.

Speaker 7 (28:48):
They are so insanely deep that the only American on
the all NBA team and the guy who was MVP
two years ago have gotten dnpcds. I mean, they are
just ridiculously deep and if they just peep the right approach,
they are not going to lose.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
You can fall on Twitter at the steinline, that is
at the steinline. Check them out on substack as well.
Mark has always appreciated your time. We'll talk to you
as the Olympics keep going.

Speaker 9 (29:17):
Sound good, guys, take care.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
I appreciate you man. Thanks, I really do you see?
I disagree with Mark.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
I really do think the more there's still a lot
of basketball to go, how many more guys that are
really good can the officials throw out that don't play
for France and give them give them all kinds of
flagrant fouls and suddenly at the end, hey, the United States.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Has to take on France with the gold medal. They
have three players left. It's Drew Holliday, Derek White and
Joel Embii. Good luck, everybody.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
Here's the problem with it where we're at with the
unsportsmanlike files.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
None of them have been legit, right.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
It's one thing if you could just say okay, that's
borderline or okay, like all three that we've really been
able to highlight. We're Chris absolutely insane. Unless you're just
looking for an agenda and you know where where there's
you know the tinfoil.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
Hats come out, right, then that's and that's the thing
you fear as you're getting in these next rounds, Like
when's the next one.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
We watched it in the women's soccer game today, right,
they get yelling get these girls out of the game
before they get thrown out. Right, Trinity Rodman got the
yellow card. It's like, no, get her off the pitch.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Yeah, how many times did you see them sit there
and go or Julie Fatty like like she hit it
right on the head, Like how many times was she
sitting there saying, hey, you know what, I don't care
what you do. You really have to get Sam Coffee
out of this game. Don't want her to get another yellow.
Don't want to guess what she got another yellow. Now
she's out of the next game. Don't want her to
get yellow when she stepped on when.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
She stepped on the woman's foot right the challenge and missed.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Absolutely insane.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Thanks to Mark Stein for stopping by and talking Team
USA hoops. Right now, let's Talk watchd with Isaac Lowencross
What do you got?

Speaker 4 (31:01):
I Love Hey, Jason and Mike.

Speaker 6 (31:03):
It is all over In San Diego, Padres over the
Dodgers eight to one. San Diego's won nine of ten.
Dylan sees his eleventh victory of the season. Dodger pitcher
Clayton Kershaw, making a second start of the season, lasted
three and two thirds innings, did not record a strikeout.
That ended his major league record streak of appearances with
at least one strikeout at four hundred and four. Last

(31:26):
time he appeared in a major league game without a
strikeout all the way back on September twenty eighth, two
thousand and eight. Right now, the Colorado Rockies have a
two to one lead over the Angels in Anaheim at
the bottom of the eighth inning. In San Francisco, Giants
up won nothing over the Oakland A's with two outs
in the top of the ninth inning and an Oakland runner.

(31:47):
At first Olympics Wednesday, US men's basketball team clinched a
spot of the quarters with a one oh three eighty
six win over South su Dan. US women's soccer team
over Australia two to one, winning its group, improving to
three and oh. They will face Japan in the quarterfinals.
On Saturday, swimming, Katie Ledecki won the fifteen hundred meter
freestyle for her eighth career gold medal. Finally, the most

(32:11):
unique Olympic athlete athlete endorsement deal of the Summer Games
has been determined. Georgia Via, a member of Italy's silver
mining silver medal winning team in the all around gymnastics competition,
has an endorsement deal with Parmerjon Cheese.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Let's go, how do why not have that?

Speaker 3 (32:33):
I have parmajon cheese probably five days a week.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
How do I do that?

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Have that deal?

Speaker 6 (32:37):
It's not a particular brand of Parmesan cheese, it's just
parmesan cheese itself. So there's advertisements that show her posing
with these enormous, humongous wheels of parmesan cheese that are
almost as big as she is. Remember she's a gymnast.
Back to you, guys, But how the hell.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Does she get paid? Like just parmesan cheese? How are
you get paid for that?

Speaker 5 (33:00):
It's like the avocado factory, right that that you know,
hey buy call the forty avocados.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
I mean, it's like a syndicate.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
I guess it's like when you go to Olive Garden
and they say, okay, tell me when to stop. I
mean she never has to stop. I guess it's lifetime
free whatever.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
How do they sell those machines too? Right? What s grinder?

Speaker 5 (33:18):
You can get it at the table? WHOA twenty five bucks?
So it's twenty five bucks. So it's one of those
Seinfeld things. So lifetime supply of parmesan cheese and a
million dollars. Okay, we're prepared to offer you a lifetime
supply of parmesan cheese.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
I'll take it. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (33:34):

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Dot com studios.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Coming up next, the biggest and craziest Olympic controversy in
the last twenty four hours. I think the Olympic should
lean into it. Lean into this kind. It's an embarrassing story.
They should lean into it.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
What is it? We'll tell you next. Fox.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm iss Z on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio
app Well.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
TJ clearly Jason and Mike are going to talk about
some sort of scandal now at the Olympics DJ The
Jason Smith Show with the Mike Carmen Lifrom Thetirec dot
Com Studios. A story that we have talked about and
been on the last couple of days has gotten its resolution.
Today the triathlon started and the swimmers swam in the sin.

(34:27):
Try to say that things fast after a postponement because
some of the sen wasn't deemed clean enough because.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
There was a big rainstorm and there were.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Some portions of the river that had two high levels
of E.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Coli.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
We didn't know what was going to happen. But they
were able to have the triathlon go off today. And
as you saw many swimmers swimming into the sin watching
them go, none of them came up gasping yelling.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
It burns, it burns.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
So I think everybody turned out to be okay today.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
We you did see that guy throwing up though, Yeah,
but was that because he swallowed bad water or was
that because you know he was it's you know, the.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
The the try.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
You're gonna say he was out of shape.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
You had some bad boy, I mean some bad s
cargo before he went to the pastries were not off
to snuff.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
I mean, what are we talking here? No, I'm gonna
I'm gonna say that.

Speaker 5 (35:22):
He thought about what he just did and it turned
his stomach.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
Hey maybe the smell. I don't know, you're really risking
it by jumping in the sin. You really want to
have snails before you go in there? Be my go ahead,
be my guest. You you may as well go chase
tornadoes like Glenn Powell and twisters. You want to just
go live like that?

Speaker 5 (35:42):
I don't know what a little bit of rain and mist.
I mean, you can get that same effect with the
T shirt on.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
But I'm thinking, look at me, I look like Glenn
Powell in the movie.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
But I was thinking about this.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
What if instead of cleaning up the sin, you lean
into it and you just put stuff in there and say, hey,
you know what, triathlon is nice and they will be
the fastest swimmer, fastest bike, or fastest runner.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
That's great.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
But what if we started putting some obstacles in there.
Maybe that makes things a little more interesting. Maybe, hey,
we'll leave the e colone, maybe throw.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
A little bit of mercury in there. Why not, Hey,
let's throw that in there.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
Hey, well, we'll threat you will have to just have
people throwing garbage into the into the river as you
swimt like, why not lean into it? Hey, let let's
make the river an obstacle and it becomes something that's
even more interesting. Hey, hopefully they can avoid this area
right here. You can see you by the discoloration. There
is something putt in that water that is really not good.
Look at the fish just fly to the top of

(36:35):
the water, just flipping out.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Yeah, you want to avoid that area right there, says
a very narrow area.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
We're you gonna have to try to pass somebody if
you want to get ahead. Go into the bicycle portion.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
Random archer stationed where there's oil slicks and suddenly there's
a little fire. Things like you're at the water World
thing at Universal Studios.

Speaker 3 (36:54):
I'm talking about putting stuff in the water. You're putting
archers on the outside.

Speaker 5 (36:58):
I'm just trying to give it some back stra gravitas
for the television audience.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
Like this, it's like a full on theme park ride.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Let's go, boy, I'm talking about I'm talking about watching
a guy, you know, ceremonially breaking thermometers and dripping mercury.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Hey, let's let's see. I don't know you're doing with it.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
You're dripping mercury, Okay, okay, not singing like you're dripping
velvet like Freddie Mercury. I am not advocating this. I
am not saying do it. We're just we're just talking
about that. We're talking about it as it made for
TV events. We're what's the best television show has an exhibition?
I mean, I just I really I wonder I watched,

(37:39):
Oh dude, come on, if they could go have gone.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Under Paris and added sharks.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
Sharks like it's Bruce or those ones. They had the
c G I ones from Deep Blue Seed.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Yeah, cool, because that because that's part of Under Again,
if you haven't seen Under Paris, it's a great movie
to watch when you're watching the Olympic coverage, right to
think and see it. But but they actually had like
the you know, the sharks attacked at one point when
there was an event going on. It was Olympics, but
there was an event going on, and of course, you
know it's political. They had to keep on the event going.
You know, No, I can't lose face. You have to

(38:11):
have this thing go off. I know we have sharks
in the Seine, but we have to have this event
go off.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
See now we've.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Taken it into a whole different world. But I mean,
I'm glad the event went on. I'd still like some
real answers from people other than we had to do
something because we spent one point five billion dollars and
the people were pissed. I mean, my daughter was joking,
it was like, all right, it's another French Revolution on
the way because of the Olympics quality of the water

(38:40):
for the triathle Why are.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
They talking about Robespierre on the air? Well, we're going
back to the French Revolution where they turned.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
No matter where the set is, people are singing songs
from La miss A rob.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
I don't know what's going on.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Boy, Marquis de Lafayette is getting a lot of run here.
Why are we looking at his story? Marquis de Lafayette
was born and uh but you know, I really sit
back and I watch this and I go how did
they all feel?

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Like?

Speaker 1 (39:05):
I know, I know every athlete was asking, yeah, no,
it's fine, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine. But how
did they really feel. When you're diving in that water
for the first time, you going, oh boy, I can
see some stuff. I said, yeah, you know what.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
No, but you're saying I trained it.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
It's like the you were going to drink the fat
episode of Friends.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
It's just a milkshake, vanilla milkshake, v milkhake.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
Here, it's I trained for four years. I'd stop it now.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
You spent one and a half billion dollars to clean
up the send. But yet one rainstorm. Hey we got
to postpone it. We had postponed it, we had rain
we spent all I'm telling you that billion, that one
point five billion is somewhere no one can find it.
That is, no one can find it. Exit out by
the Fresco exit swollen dome. We have another big Olympic
story up next, Fox
