We got that big football story coming up in a
second button update because we are at halftime. The Lakers
are playing horribly. Yeah, Luca can't hit anything. They're leaving
him wide open for threes. He has not made a three.

(01:06):
He is zero for five. The Lakers are playing horribly.
They're up eleven over the Hornets forty eight thirty seven
at halftime Lebron has ten, Hotchimora has ten. This is
not this is again, this is it is actually a
good thing for the Lakers. They're not even playing well.
And yes the Hornets are terrible, but they're not even
playing well. And instead of a game where previous iterations

(01:27):
of the Lakers the last couple of years would be, hey,
they're not playing well and so it's a dogfight, they're
not playing when they're up by eleven, Like, this shows
you where the Lakers can be the second half of
the season, what they can accomplish with Luca, because guys
are you know, the guys outside of the of the
main couple are hitting shots, putting points on the board.
Right Hatchamor is having a big first half. This is

(01:49):
kind of what to expect from the Lakers. Not every
game is gonna be like this. Lucas not gonna be
on his way to a quadruple double with four points,
seven rebounds, five assists and five turnovers. Not every game
is going to be a quadruple double. And the fact
the Lakers are playing terribly and they're up by eleven,
that says something.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Playing down to the competition, is that kind of what
we're looking at because you know, to go into the
can't really run up and down and trying to get
himself back in shape. The Philip Seymour Hoffman comparisons from
a long can't poly get in here rain Man right,
because I mean the three point shots awful, Like he
hasn't bricked one yet, but he's come close.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
So but as you say, it's eleven point margin at half.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
We were marveling.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Frostburg and I chatting as we're watching the final minutes
tick down, Boy lamello Ball, How do we get him
to a.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Place where he's gonna matter because he's fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, it really is fun. But that's about it. That's
about what you got. Pirs out to his dad, pairs out.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
How about that? I mean crazy story. Today we saw
like and LeVar Ball, who suffered a very bad medical
situation a week ago or not quite sure what it was,
had the bottom half of his right leg amputated. And
the video of him coming out in a wheelchair and
he's smiling and it looks like a normal LeVar Ball
and and and he and you just see him, there's like,

(03:13):
oh my good, he had his foot amputating. Here he
is smiling out waving like that. That that's some sort
of of Hey, I'm putting a brave face on and
I'm happy, I'm alive and I'm happy things are going forward.
I mean, we don't know what, we don't know what
he's coming on from here, right, but to have that
like that, that's one of those stunning photos that stays
with you that here is a guy who just had

(03:33):
the bottom half of his of his foot leg amputated,
which is going to be something that all of a sudden,
your life changes forever with all the different things used
to be able to do. Not yet you won't. You
won't do Most people wouldn't be in good spirits. Most
people wouldn't be okay with getting their picture taken it
Maybe he wasn't. But to have that smile on his
face while that's going on, that that's pretty good. You

(03:53):
talk about being able to put on a good face
and when when when you have adversity in front of
you like that, that was pretty Yeah. I mean it's
all about where you come at perspective, like we don't
know the details of this, about how grave the situation was,
right if it was to the to the ultimate you
walk away, and it's like, all right, I've got to
make some adjustments.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
There's some learning, there's some therapy, there's some other things.
But I'm blessed right because in a lot of the
hot take nonsense world, he took all incoming years ago.
And part part of it is some satisfaction I gotta
think with where all three of the sons are in
their respective careers and what's going on. So a little
bit of peace there for himself, justified, vindicated, whatever. But

(04:37):
until we get some more details, I'm gonna chronicle it
as as a guy who somewhere along the way gained
that bit of perspective of hey man, I'm actually getting
wheeled out of here. It could have been worse because
when you hear grave medical emergency and this is the
end game, like all right, so what precipitated that? And
you hope whatever it was they found root causes and

(05:02):
that he's not in danger of any relapses, recurrences, anything
else like that. But yeah, your point very well taken perspective,
and even if it's just a brave face sends, you know,
the old picture's worth a thousand words, I think it's
worth a bit more here.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
So again, We'll keep you updated on everything going on
with the Lakers tonight, and best wishes to LeVar Ball
as families they deal with this. And you know, really,
I mean it seems smiling like that, like that's that's
an inspiring thing to see. Uh. Now, we talked about
this big story on the way today from college football,
and you know, I hate to say I told you so,
but you know I kind of did. H And I'm

(05:38):
okay with this because I did tell you so. When
the beginning of the college football Playoff opened and we
saw the first round games not be great and there
was a little bit of controversy over the teams that
were allowed in, we told you two big changes were
gonna happen regardless in the offseason to the college football Playoff,

(06:02):
and one is already going to happen. Right. There's talk
tonight that the SEC and the Big Ten commissioners now
that the other commissioners and to get on board with this,
that they're going to change the seating. They want to
change the seeding from what they saw last year because
the seating was done poorly. Right. They had the winners
of the different conferences get the top four seeds and clearly,

(06:23):
you can't have that. You can't have subpar teams winning
a not in college football. You can do it in
the NFL. It's how it works. In the NFL. When
you win your division, it's a big thing. You play
all division games. But in college football, it's is it
really fair that we're watching Boise State get this high seed?
Really fair? We're seeing Arizona State get this high seed?

(06:43):
It wasn't, And as a result, we saw bad football
games in the first round because we saw teams playing
that shouldn't have been there. And then the second round
came and we saw a few more bad games because well,
the teams that were able to skip it and didn't
have to play got beat because they weren't at that level.
So the first change you told you was gonna happen
was they're gonna change the seating, and they're gonna do

(07:03):
exactly this. They're gonna all the conference champions are gonna
be allowed in, but the seating is gonna be up
to the playoff committee. So you can win the Mountain West,
but you're not getting the four seed. You're probably getting
a twelve seed, which is where you should be. So
that's going to happen, and now we're seeing the ball
rolling towards this. The commissioner said, we need this to
be all unanimous to do this. There's no way it's

(07:25):
not gonna be unanimous. Everybody's gonna want the best teams
out there. The Big Ten's gonna say yes, as everybody's
gonna say yes. Course, and it too, and Notre Dame's
gonna say yes because they want a chance to host
a playoff game Atomatic. So this is good. So the
fact unanimous. I don't know if the Mountain West says, wait,
we said no, forget it. We don't need. When I
say unanimous, I mean the conference's account. So you're gonna

(07:47):
see this guy, have no doubt you're gonna see this
go through. That's the curiosity here. I'd want some sort
of I see a lot of league lads, we drive
past a lot of billboards. I want some compensation if
I'm one of these other conferences. You keep telling me
it's a five conference.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
World, right, all right, but then now you're slapping me
upside the head gun. You really don't count like you're
here in spirit only you're on the team. You get
to wear the jersey and you're one of us, you're
never seeing the ball. We just didn't have enough bodies.
But we think the four of us can take take
on the world. It's the SEC and Big ten. Obviously

(08:22):
they get to do whatever they want, whichever way they
want the win the blow. They'll pull out the giant
fan and make it so for the other conferences. So yeah,
clearly they recognize. And this is where we start getting
into arguments of how many automatic bids you get and
all of those other things. Conferences conference to conference that

(08:43):
those fights. But yeah, the logic of this one. I
like the idea, right, we want a conference that has
to matter, but you also have to recognize reality. Right,
Apples are not necessarily the same apple. There's lots of
varietals of apples, and you don't put them in the

(09:03):
same pie. Okay, they have to play each other, but
that doesn't mean that all things are created equal. So
we'll give you your ability to participate and try to
win from a deeper seed. Again, I want some compensation
if I'm one of these other conferences.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Little bit, you know, do you play for a conference,
it really doesn't matter. You might be entitled the compensation. Yeah,
you tell us what we'm carmon right now, But after
a year now you're saying, Nyeah, you know all things,
grant Inkle, you're not. And then then you cut to
the guy who's standing in front of like his air
conditioner going. I played for a conference and nobody cared

(09:39):
about Nobody cared about me. I called Mike Harmon and wow,
suddenly I was in the College Football Playoff and I
got to host a game. Yeah we lost ninety five
to nothing, but it doesn't matter. I got my moan
in the spotlight. Thank you, Mike Harmon. I'll take it.
I'll take it now. But like the All Star Game
and everything else, was that the worst thing in the world?

(10:01):
The worst? Are you aggrieved? Are you mad? Alabama didn't get? No?
Shut up?

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
The other part of it is the next change that
they're going to have to come around to if they
want to avoid the biggest controversy they'll have again in
year two, because what did we see from year one? Okay,
Miami didn't get in Alabama and over Miami again. It's
like snubs for the NCAA Tournament. It's a one day story.
And I can't really argue with you if you have

(10:29):
three losses. If you lost your last game of the
year by twenty points, I really if you are the
number five team and you get shut out of being
the top four, yeah, okay, you have a big time argument.
But top twelve, if you're the twelfth, the thirteenth best team,
I don't have a lot of I don't have a
lot of sympathy for you. So that's one thing that
we're gonna be able to deal with. It's not going
to be a controversy, But what is is how are

(10:49):
you going to handle the conference championship games? Because the
biggest thing is getting to the conference championship. And let's
say you have there's a ten and two team in
the conference championship that gets in and loses to fall
to ten and three, and you have a ten and
two team that didn't make the conference championship. Suddenly they
have a better chance of getting in because well, ten

(11:10):
and two is better than ten and three. But wait, wait,
they weren't even good enough to get into the conference
championship game. So that's a huge that's a huge controversy
you're gonna have to continue to navigate. And it's really
not fair because there's a lot of teams, and Lane
Kiffin talked about he talked about it way too early
because what do you need to do is concentrate on
getting into the team. Oh that's true, but you know,
and lane Kiffin said, there's a lot of coaches say,

(11:31):
I don't know if I want to be in because
if I have a good enough team, i'm and I
can and I'm like the eight seed of the nine
seed and i can get in. Wh I don't want
to play that game where I could potentially lose and
get left out of the playoff. So that's a big controversy.
So they're gonna have to address that, and the best
way to do it is to say, Okay, it worked
great at twelve. We saw there were other teams that

(11:51):
were arguing Miami getting in. A couple of other teams, Okay,
that's fine. We extended to sixteen, and you take every
team that makes the conference championship game in the Power
five conferences, right, you don't you have don't have to
worry about taking it for the Mountain West, don't have
to worry about ten. But you take the two in
the Big Ten, the two in the SEC, the two

(12:12):
in the ACC. Even if you want to go all
the way through and say, listen, we'll take the top
two from all the conferences, and then you have six
at large kids. Okay, then then you're fine. I would
want to take a second Mountain West team, but okay,
but then, okay, if you want to do that, okay,
then you're fine because then you still have six slots
that are wildcard slots, and most of the slots will
be filled by that second team anyway. But now you

(12:33):
get out of the controversy of hey, you're not getting
in because you didn't play in the conference. You played
in the confence championship game and you lost, so we're
letting somebody else in, right, And the big thing for
the conference championship game is you're playing for a buye
right or home field advantage. So it's not like you're
coming into this game going what do we care arresting
everybody because you know, if we win, we could get

(12:54):
a bye and and home games. Right, We're going, if
you don't have a buye, you get a home game.
So you're still fighting for something really really big. This
is the other change I have to have.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Curiosity to me, was, you know, the ground swell and
a great talking point. But when in practicality of the well,
we don't. We don't want to play in the conference
championship game. Consider our resume as it is. How many
schools would and conferences would legitimately, you know, plant that
flag in the sand to just say, we don't even

(13:24):
want to go play in your conference championship game because
we know if we come short, which is a terrible
message to send to your team and to everybody else.
But just from a philosophical exercise of yeah, we're not
gonna do.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
It, I don't. I don't know that that's gonna work.
I don't.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
I don't think you're winning in that regard, because you're
probably gonna end up being left off a couple extra
ballots just by trying to take the stand, whereas you
may have been able to, you know, sustain the loss
and still find your way into this field exit.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
How about a fresco exit? Swollen down the Jason Smith

(14:58):
Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show is My Best Friend
Mike Harmon live the tire rack dot Com Studios. Lakers
lead the Hornets by ten fifty five forty five. Luka
Doncic on his way to what could be a quadruple
double eight points, eight rebounds, five assists, five turnovers, but

(15:20):
he hasn't replicated plus plus nine none but the big
thing is he's got what is it a ninety five
game or one hundred games streak with a three, and
he is zero for six tonight and hasn't been close,
Like the Hornets have allowed him a couple of shots
where they just laid off him and I got to
stand here and decide do I want to take this three?
There's I could stand here with the ball forever, and

(15:42):
he has taken He's been long, he's been off. He
doesn't have his three down yet, obviously. So that's a
streak we got to watch out for, because you know,
it's a ninety five ninety six somewhere, it's between ninety
five and one hundred. His streak for four three pointers
in a game.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
I mean, you still had plenty of basketball to be played,
and they haven't run away and hit I mean twelve
and a half point spread.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
They only eleven. JJ. Well, when did Jason Smith won
for six ' eight four Fox Sports Radio? What did
you realize you weren't going to cover tonight? Is that
a thing? How much do you talk about covering the spread?
Think about it?

Speaker 2 (16:13):
If you were to ask Mick, how do you feel
like that you let down the backers that had your
minus eleven and a half against a gofer scene that's
playing really well by.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Sure mc crons. People know you're talking Mick Kron. You
can't just say Mick like you know, you know he
does that all the time. My dad he's not listening.
Like I say, my dad will tell me stories about people,
and I'll go, oh, Dad, so what did you do
on Friday? Ah? Me and jumping knucklehead Billy went up here,
and then let me tell you, let me tell you

(16:41):
what Ralph did. Ralph did blah blah blah blah blah.
And then Sandy, your dad, Ralph, and then Mindy, yes, gentlemen,
uh and then and then and then Mindy and Mindy
and Sandy came. And I'm going, Dad, I don't know
who these people are. I don't know who they are.
But he talks about him like he's done this for years,
Like I'm that dad, I don't know who these people are.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
And you just saying in his sports con context. And
there's only one Mick right now. Well, let's see, there's
Mick Jagger, there's me No in the sports connors, Mick Fleetwood,
there's Mick. I'm not talking about greatest bands of the
seventies and eight.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
There's there's Mickey from Rocky. There's Mickey gold Mill. There's
that's right, Mickey go very nice. Yes, yes, you're gonna
crap thunder and you're gonna uh there's Mickey seventeen the
movie with Robert Pattinson. There's uh, Mickey Irrison.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Every time I see something with that movie, I don't
know whether I want to see it more or I
want to see it at never.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
That's a movie where the more I see of the trailers,
the less I want to see the movie.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Like stop adding scenes to the trailers.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Concept. Yeah, and I first I'm like, this is pretty interesting.
Now I'm like, oh, you know, I can miss that.
You know, it's kind of like the Brave New World.
I can the first teaser I saw that, I'm like,
I am in, and then I saw more and more
of the bits. Now forget mc foley, back to al
Mick Foley. Sure, that's sports, I mean sports entertainment. Sure, yeah,
of course that Mickey Mantle. Yeah, but that's the Mick.

(18:08):
You know, Well, there's the Mick. The TV show that
Caitlyn Olsen was in that was that is not on anymore.
Was it bad? I didn't watch it. I basically was like,
sweet D is an ant, right, Like, hey make sweet
D from It's always sunny and turn it into an ant.
Oh okay, don't forget Mick Mars. Oh yeah, I can't
forget Mick Mars. He's standing in the corner right now.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Kicks on the heart up and.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Yeah, well he'll be back, he'll be back. It's kind
of it's gonna being a manager of the Yankees and
Billy Martin. I'll fire to bring you back.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
As long as he's getting his cut. But that's all
I care about, like while they're touring, as long as
he's still getting a cut.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
So when you say Mick, you gotta say okay, gotta
say yes, you gotta say.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I mean, I just figured the audience carries overnight tonight.
They know that we were talking what I'm talking about. Yes, right,
And by the way, your dad is assuming you've paid
attention to him all these years, so you would know.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Who these peripheral characters are. No, but I've never seen
these people. I don't know who they are. And I'm
sure he's referenced some time. That's just like you reference
me he's met me what two three times? Like, so
I verifying that I do exist now because sometimes like
he'll be telling a story and you know, in the
living room and hanging out, he's telling a story about this,

(19:17):
and Pam will look at me like we should know
this person. I give her a look and I just
kind of show my head and go, you know, no't
worry about it. Like he's going to get to an end.
This is something he's going to talk himself. This is
someone now. So do you call him uncle Ralph?

Speaker 3 (19:29):
When he comes by with your dad?

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Does he wear the track suit? Are you saying tracksuits? Yeah, Ralph? Yeah,
comes by as he converted your dad to a tracksuit guy. Yet, gentlemen,
Uh so we are ready for the second half of
the NBA season, Yes we are. We're moving on. We
are moving a one. We're moving second half. Uh again,

(19:55):
not quite the second half. We're fifty two games in,
but okay, it doesn't matter. Some bold predictions for the
second half of the NBA playoffs. Stop, dude, we're winning
the title that though number one. You're gonna see over
the course second half. At the end of the year,
the seventy six ers and the Suns are gonna get

(20:17):
blown up and it's gonna be superstars available across the board.
Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant as both these teams
understand we need to move on, right. We talked about
Embiid being on the train. Now he's got to be healthy.
He's got to be some of the shows. He's healthy,
got to be able to move on the contract extension
he signed, he's got to you know, now, after March

(20:38):
he can get traded. But obviously we're past the deadline now.
But you are going to see these two teams are
gonna get blown up because they're gonna finish terribly. And
Phoenix has tried with their stars. It's not gonna work.
The seventy six ers have tried, it's not going to work.
They're gonna rebuild around Tyrese Maxi. Maybe Paul George would
be somebody to say, Okay, we need to get younger.

(20:59):
So you're gonna see the these guys available in a
big way for trade for something. Embiid, George Durant, Booker
probably be although you know, no trade clause, but you're
gonna see some big just those two teams that's gonna
be a big feeding frenzy in the off season. They
will all be available.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Do you think he just put that in his contract
so he could say, I'm one of the two guys
that has one.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
I think you got in it's him and Lebron and
that's it. And no, and then nobody read that pay
missed it. Yeah, they missed it. Oh did you get
that fax yet?

Speaker 4 (21:28):
No?

Speaker 1 (21:28):
I fax in that page? Yeah, no trade car How
do we miss that? How did you miss that you're
supposed to look over I don't know. I don't think
he actually.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Said they used creative language and it doesn't actually say
no trade clause. So they glossed over it looking for
you know, the normal like they had something scanned AI
for the normal terms and it missed it.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
It said they wanted something that rhymes with schmosh madge maus.
I didn't know what that was. I thought it was
so I just said, yeah, okay, it turns out no
trade clause. Ah, hell, I got it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Honestly, I'm surprised George didn't get spun off at the
trade deadline.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
I thought he was gonna get dealt out of the guys.
We talked a little bit about EMBIID, but his health
always uh the concern. And then he starts talking about
needing more surgeries. And then Kevin Durant more or less said, yeah,
I would have gone, but I didn't want to go
in the middle of the year.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
No, I didn't want to move. I didn't want to
move in the middle of eight like he would be out.
He's the guy loading up the boxes from his house going,
I'm really sweating, sweat my ass off. Man, I gotta move,
then I gotta play tomorrow night. I gotta drive this
truck across country. I don't want to do that.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Man, most harrowing thing in my life driving the last
couple of hundred miles when we came cross Country's got
he's got.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Like the lifting belt on. Ye, he's got the palette
that he's pulling stuff.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
You know, I had to pay extra for this dolly Man,
but look what it can do. It could go into
a flatbed so I can take more stuff in per trip.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Two thousand miles. I think I'll be there for the
start of the game tomorrow, but I'm not quite sure.
You know, we're gonna rest, We're gonna stop and we're
gonna have Continental breakfast and then go like, I don't
want to be tried to move in the middle. I
dig that.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
I like I like your your blow it up scenario
because those are two teams, and then New Orleans becomes
the cureuriosity. Is there a buyer? And would they sell
Zion Williamson? Yeah, right, because they just resigned Ingram. Yes,
so that's done. Like they've they've picked and obviously Zion
already has the monster deal. So is there a marketplace.
That's a tough market. But that's just tough one. They

(23:16):
are getting into the embid whatever. It's kind of the
Luka Doncic. Is he ever going to stay in shape?
Is it just the stot you know, the frame is
so battered and worn.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
At this point. Yeah, there's a lot to it.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Second Bowl prediction. Yeah, the Lakers finished second in the
Western cons second second. Too much to ask them they're getting, Yeah,
too much to ask them to overtake the thunder. You
can't stop chat. They're in, they're in, They're in striking distance.
And I'm telling you watch as as Luca gets in
and gets in shape, as they get going. This is
a Laker team. That's going to score one hundred and

(23:50):
thirty points a night. Right, we saw that the Nuggets
offense really starting to get it now they're getting healthy. Uh,
they didn't trade Michael Porter Junior, which is a huge
deal because he opens up things so much for Nicola
Yok which is now averaging a triple double and getting
back into the MVP conversation. But when as Luca continues
to assimilate, and you see how good they are now
when they're not. They're playing a C plus game tonight

(24:11):
and they're beating Charlotte by eleven. Right, they're not even
shooting well from three and they're still winning by eleven.
But you're gonna see as time goes on, they're gonna
start racking up wins. They're gonna stack wins and at
the end of the season, it's gonna be oh man,
look at them number two. I really hope we can
get a Lakers Mavericks first round of the playoffs. That's
what's gonna happen. The Lakers are going to continue to

(24:32):
roll here. We've seen some teams. Look, they're close now,
they've been playing people forget they were playing really really
well before the trade. Devil before they traded for Luca, Hey,
they they were playing their best the best record they
had at this point in the season in four years.
They were playing really well. Now they added Luca, he assimilates.
Watch Lakers finished second in the Western Conference. That is bold.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
By the way, the Mark Williams revenge game, he's got
eight and seven. Just for those that blank in such things, well,
I mean he could have been a Laker. I mean
you photo shopped him in and everything, but he's ready
to celebrate, be right, But he isn't.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
He's eight seven and one, eight point seven rebounds, one
failed physical eight seven and one. You gotta be very
important one in that.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
When I look at the West standings, I'm looking at Okay, see,
you're not chasing them down with the eight game lead.
I think Denver still finishes second, Memphis dips a bit,
and Houston's youth comes back to get them. So yeah,
the Lakers will pass them. So I think the Lakers
can get up the third. But I like yours already sliding. Yeah, yeah,
Houston's already sliding. They're coming back to earth a little

(25:35):
three and seven their last ten and you know, trying
to figure it out. It's been a fun run though.
I mean they've been fun to watch thirty four and
twenty one out of the year. We'll see what the
the All Star break yielded for him. Trying to bring
up the old strength of schedule down the run here.
But all of that to say, Lakers at a great
position as long as all those shooters actually, you know,

(25:57):
do their thing.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
And for the Lakers, Lebron James, this is ankle really hurt.
I need to know. I don't care. I don't even
care whatever you says. Say you feel good about missing
the All Star Game? Right? Great? Do you feel good mentally?
Put you in the right place? Great? Whatever reason you
get that workout with his.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Daughter, that was great, a good, wholesome, choreographed photograph moment.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Good you.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Congratulations Lebron. Now third bold prediction, right, and this is
my favorite. One is my favorite. This is the Knicks
miss to play and come on, the Knicks are gonna
win the title. Well, I mean I'm ready phase out
in the second round because there I'm ready for the
Knicks Lakers final. We can fast forward right to that. Now,
your NBA Coach of the Year. And it's not even close.

(26:38):
It's not even Moose is JB. Bickerstaff and the Pistons
not even close. Here he is in this year and
he already has the Pistons plus twenty one over their
record at this point from twenty three to twenty four. Right,
Kate Cunningham is blown up. Jaden Ivy is great in there,

(27:00):
still winning without him. They're a great rebounding team. This
is the best story in the NBA that here come
the Pistons. People still remember the Bad Boys and the
early two thousands teams that won the title in two
thousand and four over the Lakers, like this is the
best store in the NBA. Here are the Pistons, who
usually at this point in the season have are in
the single digits for wins, and here they are now

(27:21):
over five hundred, potentially potentially could be a top four
team in the East. And look at the I mean
Bickerstaff has come in and he has been phenomenal. Well,
when you get to take care of the bulls and
hand them loss after loss, it rolls up right now
sixteen to one. As of Valentine's Day.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
He was SI odds on that now Man odds on
Dooka at plus nine hundred and then Kenny Atkinson of
the Calves minus seven hundred.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
I mean, I don't know how. I don't know how
anybody else you can talk these teams, the Calves, they
have really good players, right, they have star players. This
is a again, this is a Pistons team that comes
as usually has eight or nine wins at this point.
But what if I were to throw this up at
you at fifty to one in your scenario where they
get to the number two seed from podcasts to feuding

(28:12):
with a radio host to coach of the year. Again,
you have guy, you gotta manage egos and you gotta
Keepluko motivating. Right you have Okay, managing egos is great,
but I'll take managing egos over. We got to build
a program up from the ground up. And this is
his first year. It's his first year in Detroit, and
look at where they are. This is all of a sudden,
it's this is you rub your eyes and go, this

(28:34):
is really happening in Detroit. It's really happening.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Man.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
They're a good team. Nobody this is this is one
of those scrappy Nobody wants to play them. Their young
players are starting to really blossom again. You pick not
low in the draft every year. Eventually you're gonna grab
some guys. But they're the best story.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
In the NBA's the question if you're Moni Williams, are
you pissed or you're really happy? I think you have
some sort of pride, but you're pissed, Okay, some sort
of pride. I mean he did walk away with an
extra sixty five million dollars.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Yes, yeah, Oh he didn't have to. He did get it,
not have to worry about working for it. And if
you're in, if you're the Cavaliers, like, wow, Bickerstaff's doing great.
Oh but wait a minute, but now, hey, hey, we're
doing great, So we're doing a little bit better.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Like okay, rookie quarterback to go in dollar cost average
with your veteran because of what you're already paying money.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Hey, mony exit out by a Fresca exit swollen dome.
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the
tirect dot Com studios. Time now to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports. But guy, he's
been called the JB. Bickerstaff of Fox Sports Radio. Here
he is in his first year and he's a legend
in Detroit. It's Martin Wise with what's trending.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
We'll say this my first year actually in Detroit covering
the Detroit Tigers. They won the went to the Alcs
for the first time in a whole bunch of years.
But that was there, Tory Hunter flipped over the thing
and and.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
And you left, and now look what's happening to Jack.
Took him all the way to till Deil Scooball was
able to come in for them to get back.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
This year, we've seen something that everybody seems to you
pretty surprised about right now in the NBA. Often Reeves
got a I'm not sure trying to find out what happened.
It just happened. Here's per Dave mcmanhamon on social media,
Lakers reporter for ESPN.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
It says Austen.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
Rege dejected from the game here in the third quarter
after two quick texts in secession from referee Rodney Mott.
Reeves soft his headband into the stands on his way
off the courton into the locker room.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
So we'll see what.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
The end result is if there's any more coming out
of just arguing a call or he said one of
those magic words, but he.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Got he got what it looked like he was going
to the basket and he felt he got fouled, and
so right away he went right at the referee and
he kind of swung his hand in his face like, oh,
come on, man, give me that call, and the ref
teat him up. He was saying stuff, walking away, kept walking,
got the double technical, then thrown out, and then threw
his head band up. So he got frustrated at what

(30:49):
he thought should have been a call and got right
in the referee's face, and that earned him that first
big tea.

Speaker 5 (30:54):
But that's what makes me wonder with the second one
in secession. Most of the time, I feel like, when
you're walking away, you got to have a nice little
magic word there to go ahead and get the boot.
Either way, well, I'm sure we'll have a find out.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
JJ Reddick will address Jason Smith eighty seven, seventeen and
his takes in his postgame press conference right now, sixty
five to fifty eight, the score with.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
The Lakers in the LEADU.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
You know what I will say seeing it again watching him,
he kept saying, that's a foul, that's a foul, and
he walked when he walked by the referee, he brushed him.
I think that's probably what it was going to be
because he was getting teed up already and then he
brushed him when he walked by.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Contact will do that's going to do it because I did.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
I missed the contact initially, so that, yeah, that'll be
that'll be likely.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
What the story is there? Sixty five to sixty.

Speaker 5 (31:38):
Three the score with the Lakers the home team leading
the Hornets in the rescheduled game after the LA fires
earlier this year. On the Lakers side of things, Roy
Hotching Moore leading off scores with fourteen points. Luca Donches
three for thirteen from the floor, zero for six from
three luckily three for four from the free throw line.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
He's got nine points and nine.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
Rebounds, six assists, and five turnovers three files so far
in twenty four minutes. Play Lebron in twenty four minutes,
he's got ten points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Leading
all scores is Mile Bridges Miles Bridges with twenty and
lamel Le Ball adding fifteen. In college basketball, we saw
a upset in the top five as Missouri beats Alabama

(32:19):
ten to ninety eight.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
The Missouri Tigers, a fifteenth.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
Ranet team in the nation, beating the Alabama Crimson tie
fourth ranked Auburn.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
It was close towards.

Speaker 5 (32:26):
The end, but Auburn able to stave off Arkansas sixty
seven to sixty Auburn the number one team in the nation.
Seventeenth University of Kentucky beat Vanderbilt eighty two to sixty one,
and tenth ranked Saint John's beat DePaul eighty two to
fifty eight.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
My red storm.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
I already told you I'm picking Saint John's to win
the title. I've already done it. I made my pickyl Demon.
Nobody else can take them out.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
I'm just saying, you know, if it comes down to
Rick Patino and the white board and clips on social media, Yeah,
but I give them the trophy now.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Shnout lose, no question, thanks, I gotta do my quicker traction. Obviously,
Ingram had been dealt to Toronto, so I missed like
three words.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Well, no talking you talk to that out week. No,
I get it, and I get I get it. You're
all up into the United States, Canada for tomorrow night
in the Four Nations, and I don't Yeah, some of
that is just you know, making sure we crossed the
t Tony Man JB. Bickerstaff coach that it's the first
time the Pistons are going and went to the All
Star break above five hundred since before you and I,

(33:28):
since four years before you and I met. But here's
the great two thousand.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
You tried to build the bandwagon and you abandon it
to go to work on other projects.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
So now they've carried it and actually worked through it.
I mean since the first time above is two thousand
and nine. He's coach of the Year. It Sola Coast
coming up next. What is, without a doubt, the best
football story of the week. It may be something that
foreshadows Skynet coming to life, but it's the best NFL
story of the week. That's next Chasing a Bike.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Fox.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Be sure to cant live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Fox for cho.

Speaker 4 (34:11):
Bulls, Thank Sprink. I kind of sound like Jordan. I
don't watch the bulls. The bulls are terrible. That's a
little bit tracy to you, Jason, Hall of Famers. Sorry,
that's a little bit of tracy. Jordan as Rob Parker, Okay,
are you four cheese? Lasagnia, Jason Smith, Mike Carmon live

(34:32):
from the Tirack dot Com studios. Uh yeah, not a
great third quarter for the Lakers. As soon as I
said they're gonna finish second in the Western Conference this year, Boy,
they just really took a dive.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
They were up by eleven. Now they trail the Hornets
seventy two sixty six. That going to the fourth quarter.
This is uh, this has not been not great, Bob,
not not great, not exactly.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
I mean, look, man, this this becomes the latest example
of you putting something into the universe and some for saying, no, hey, coach,
congratulations your team number one in the land. Great slat
Hey the Lions are gonna go and they're running rough shot.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Nope, David Montgomery, I got hurt. Ah No, and now
the Lakers and then they give you that third quarter
where they score eighteen points and you're seeing just what
what can happen on any given nights. I gotta give
it Sunday except it Wednesday. Thanks thanks for nothing. Now,
look this is the it's for nothing lake, Thanks for nothing.

(35:39):
JJ Reddick. I tried to prop you up. Aj Brown
of the Eagle Super Bowl champion AJ Brown his girlfriend
put this up on Instagram that AJ Brown bought a mannequin,
just a Storm mannequin, you know, just a regular Storm
mannaquin where he could display his unwashed Super Bowl uniform.

(36:03):
That's pretty cool and put vi in and put pictures
up on social media. If you see the the the
mannequin and it's got a J. Brown's jersey and his
pang you can still see the stains on it from
the game. And yeah, I thought that's really cool. Forget
about putting the jersey up. Hey, we're gonna we're gonna
frame it. I'm not gonna wash it. We're gonna frame it.

(36:23):
Put it up in a room. No, I mean you
got a room. You know, A J. Brown's making a
lot of money. I'm gonna put this in the room
my house. I'm gonna put a I'm gonna put a
big a mannequin and put my jersey on it. No,
that's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Jersey on got the cleats on and has the book
that he was reading on the sideline tucked into the way.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Right, every shame exhibit, right, But that's but that's exactly
what he did. He brought it to his house. Right.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
We see so many great examples going back to what
Cribs and so many shows that would show you all
the great posters everybody there's this you know, uh ever
present scarface. But then it would be a wall of jersey,
and for some guys it would become the joke of
how many teams did you play for?

Speaker 1 (37:04):
Like what are we doing?

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Or if they've made they've traded jerseys through the years,
maybe they take you to that wing of the house.
Of course with the rash of burglaries, although we finally
got a breakthrough today with that.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
But you didn't really want a lot of that out
there sometimes, but to lean into, hey, here's my history,
my path and he'd had a great interview. Our guy,
Jay Glazer joins us during the football season. That was
a part of the pregame, talking about, you know, his
mental health and what he does to get right and

(37:35):
all of the things he's leaning into. Yeah, you celebrate
you just won on the grandest stage and if that's
the trophy instead of putting a jersey on the wall,
come on, this is such a ball or move, this
is the best And here's the next iteration of this
now other people will do this. I bet Kirk Cousins
will do this in a second. He'll have full Kirk

(37:57):
Harry Potter nook. Kirk Cousins will have a full a
full wing of his house, you know, you know quarterback,
and he will have all mannequins with different ones of
his jersey actually set up like they looking like they're
playing a game. Oh, that'd be good, that'll be cool.
Can he do it like it's the Wizard Chess since
he has Harry Potter book. But that's what will be next,
is that you're eventually going to see just players having

(38:19):
robots wearing their stuff. Happy Birthday, PAULI, Happy birthday, play
alij Brown? How are you? I'm wearing the Super Bowl
and they get to tell you stuff. This super Bowl
jersey I wore. This dirt stain on the knee was
from the fourth quarter on the touchdown passer, and they
tell you all stories. Here's the book I was reading.
It's called the here's my favorite quote from the book.
And the AI robot will come and tell you things,

(38:42):
so it becomes an interactive exhibit, not just a mannequin.
That's the next level of this. Who's the curator. Is
it his girlfriend? Can I ask you a question? Yes,
go ahead. Does anybody really like Nick Sirianni? No, we
all hate him. Wasn't supposed to say that. Sorry, ask
another question. It learns.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Remember the walls have ears, man, you gotta be careful
with what you say.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
So Keys had a great sit. Yes, Saquon Barkley didn't
mean as much as everybody talked about in the media.
He did nothing in the Super Bowl. What did he have?
Eight carries for nine yards? No, nope, Sorry, shouldn't have
said that. Programming, programming, override, override. Then he throws out
the line that you might have heard here on Fox
Sports Radio. He was their best offensive line in that day. Yeah. Yeah,

(39:25):
that's just an awesome, awesome I love that. That's one
of the best stories of the week. Exit out about
a Fresco exit swollen Dome. The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Carmon. Hornet's on an eighteen to
one run since Austin Reeves's ejection. We got details on
that coming up next, as well as remembering an absolute legend.
