Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in side our two of The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Hello, live from
the Tirack dot Com studios tirec dot com. I'll helpe
you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free
road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers tirack
dot com the way tire buying should be. Well, it
is mercifully finally over in Dallas. Well, look, it was

(00:54):
over in the first quarter, but now it's really over.
There will be no sweep for the Boston Celtic. The
Mavericks take care of Boston won twenty two to eighty four,
a game where the Celtics never threatened, a game where
once the Mavericks came out and showed we're not gonna
roll over in Game four. The Celtics said, okay, that's cool,

(01:14):
we will and we're going back for Game five on Monday. Look,
we've seen this many times. I would have thought for
a second, the Celtics said, wait a minute, we got
a chance to do something nobody's ever done. Sweep the
conference finals, sweep the NBA Finals. Man faux faux fo
Moses Malone, let's.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Go for it.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
No, no, no, no, no, not gonna do it. You
got your Moses Maloney, but the idea that you just
finished the job right, You've got whatever you're gonna get
from Luca after being publicly you had the insider go
after him for crying out loud.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Insider became a hot taker, and you.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Add all of this stuff about his you know, lack
of defensive prowess and commitment and whininess and whatever, like
all of that soft underbelly literally was there for you.
And then you go out, you give up thirty four
points in the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
And that's it. You roll over. The Celtics came into.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
This game and we always say this, this is this
is true to who the Celtics are. Right, I told
you they've been the best team in the NBA all
season long, they're gonna win the NBA Finals. But usually
every round they give you a game, and they gave
you a game tonight with no effort. Well, but even
last round they tried. They tracers many games. Game one
they Carlyle and a team said, no, we don't want it.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
They try three times Smith three times in a suite.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
They had a ninety percent winning probability in the final
minutes of a game, only to lose. But look this game.
You could tell from the beginning. I'm watching this and
I'm saying, okay, there's two there's two ways this game
is going to play out. The Mavericks are gonna come
out and the Celtics gonna be able to tell right
away are the Are the Mavericks up for a fight
or are they resigned to the fact that we're gonna

(02:57):
give it a good show. But man, we're down thas
up and mentally were beat And you know it goes
either way, because when a team is down three zip,
especially playing this game at home, there's one of two
ways to go. But especially Luca coming off of game three,
the way he blew it in a game that really
is going to wind up costing the Mavericks the series
when it's all said and done with all the luminaries

(03:17):
dignitaries were watching all the comments about in the last
couple of days, you knew he was going to come
out firing, and he did, and he had twelve points
in the first like six or seven minutes. And that
was when the Celtics started to turn it off and say, Okay,
this is going to be a game where the Mavericks
are going to go nuts and they're going to really
take it to us in game that we don't need.
Were up three zip. We put it away, and they

(03:39):
put it away and said we're ready for Game five
on Monday, towards the end of the first quarter. And
it's not like they all of a sudden just it.
But the intensity that the Mavericks had the Celtics didn't match. Right,
just watching the style of play, the loose balls, trying
harder to get open looks and get better looks. You
saw so much more ISO stuff from the Celtics and

(04:01):
the Mavericks moving the ball up and down the floor.
They were having fun, right, It's a freebie game for them.
He said, screw it, let's come out hard and play.
It's probably the last game we're gonna play in front
of our fans. In fact, watching Luca shake hands and
hug everybody after the game is over, it's almost like
he's saying, yeah, it's our last game this year. Yeah,
thank you, thanks for coming, thanks you supporting, Like they
knew that came out with one last game.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Did he shake hands with Windy?

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Uh? No, well Windy, I had all of his fingers
up in the air. No, Windhorst Win Windhors punched him
in the face right afterwards, off about that.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Yeah, next level stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
But look, but after all of the barbs, like it
was nice to feel adored again, because look, he was
plus thirty for the night, twenty nine points in his
thirty three minutes. Still oh for eight from three point range.
I mean that was disastrous, but in the end it matter.
He hasn't shot well from three the entire series. He
hasn't done that. He's been terrible from the foul line.
But for this game didn't matter, at least for the moment.

(04:58):
Folks can wash the the bad taste out of their
mouth from Game three until they pause and go, you
know what, if he hadn't been dumb in that twenty
six second span and kept his ass in the game.
You know, we might actually be looking at a time
series going back tomorrow. I mean, look, look, this is
this deficit, but this is the quintessential. The pressure's off.

(05:19):
Let's go out and play, lose and have fun. And
not that they did and the Celtics didn't match because
they said, okay, we did.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
We wanted to.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
We came in here and we got one. We got
three chances to win the championship. Two are on our floor.
Everything is fine. We don't need to go crazy. It'd
be great to get the guys a little bit of rest.
We want to win at home as much as you
think it's not. But you know, in the beginning of
the game, when a team is up for it, and
when they decided, okay, we're going through the motions now.
I will say this, if they thought the Mavericks were

(05:47):
resigned to their fate, yeah, you would have seen something
bigger from the Celtics. You would have seen them with
a little bit more sense of urgency. You would have
seen that. But they knew right away, Okay, this is
a team that's coming out this way, and so you
knew if they come out big, all right, fine, and
if they start missing shots and we find our way
back in it. That's how games go, right they but
they're making the majority of their shots. Outside of Luca,

(06:08):
everybody else is really good from three point range. For
the Mavericks. Look for a team that shot really well
this season from three point range. The Mavericks have been
awful the first three games. They finally shot well tonight.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
You're shot fifteen twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
So the rest of the squad, although again five of
those haven from a hard away after the games, Long
decided when he decided to make a dent in the scorecards.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Hey dad, look at me.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
I've made another one. Dad, did you see? But you're
still talking about them.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
The rest of the rest of the players are over
fifty percent, right, So these are two the top three
teams overall in made threes throughout the season. So if
you want to talk about a difference in the game
and talk about game four year, is that outside of
the Stars, the first three games, the Celtics are making
their threes, and they have everybody that can make them
right there. At Tires starting five can make threes, Guys

(06:56):
coming off the bench can make threes. The Mavericks have
not been making them. They've been seven out of twenty six.
They think they were twenty two out of eighty coming
into the game from three point range. But finally tonight
they make their threes and the Celtics decide, we'll let
you have the threes. Not quite like when you're on
the school yard and you're like, I'm not even gonna guard.
You can make it. If you may get it from there,
you got it. If not, I'm getting the rebound. I

(07:16):
wasn't quite like that, but still it was a much
easier game for them. Yeah, I mean you go through
and in the end, you know, not all three pointers
are counted equal. But the Mavericks actually only made one
more three point shot than did the Celtics in this one,
but the rebounding advantage fifty two to thirty one. You
do the the fact this is the first time that

(07:37):
the Mavericks had more assists than the Celtics did in
the game. It was only a margin of three, but
moving the ball a bit better and as a team
you shot fifty percent from the field overall, some more
open looks, some transition buckets which were not available. You
had the sweet lob from Luca at one point that
will be, you know, one of those great poster moments

(08:00):
that roll through but all in all limited to eight turnovers,
like everything that had gone wrong for three games, well
at least for one night you corrected it. Unfortunately, it
only counts as one win. Margin of victory doesn't matter. Look,
this was delaying. The celebration will get on Monday. But

(08:21):
it's good, you know, it's good to see that. It's
good to see the Mavericks answer this way. Look honestly
for Luca, because he's the guy that the NBA Finals
is gonna wind up being about when it's all said
and done right, the guy that's gonna have the biggest storyline,
the biggest story arc through the playoffs, through the NBA
Finals is gonna wind up being Luka Doncich because not
doing enough, having the image that he's complaining about the

(08:42):
referees too much, being tired too often at the.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
End of games.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
He's who this series is gonna be about. And to
have him come out with a big game, even though
look it's a game too late to have him come
out and with twenty nine and understand that I'm not
gonna complain to the refs, and I get it. This
at least puts the Mavericks in a positive spin when
it comes to getting from this to whatever is next
for them. You're staying a title contender, whatever it is,

(09:07):
because you would go into an off season with a
lot of questions about Luca. Is he the leader you
need him to be? Is he gonna play too emotional?
This is a guy who's been in the legal while
now is gonna be someone that will stop complaining about
the referees in big moments?

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Is he going to grow up? Is he going to mature?

Speaker 1 (09:22):
And at least this gives you a great or a hey,
I feel better about this going into the off season
because it's almost like this, like a pitcher gets hurt
and he misses the majority of the season, right Like
say a pitcher gets hurt in the exhibition season and
you see this a lot where teams say, hey, we'd
love to bring him back and let him get one
start before the season ends, just so he goes into

(09:43):
the off season confident, Okay, I'm back and I can pitch,
And you're not waiting all the way till next year,
and you're asking yourself questions so sometimes I like to
bring a guy back. Hey, you're gonna start with three innings,
is what we're gonna give you, just so you get
back and you feel good. Hey I start, I felt good,
I pitched three innings. Now I feel good about the
winter go into next year. That's kind of how it is,
like you want you feel better now about Luca going

(10:04):
the next year that at least you think, Okay, maybe
I learned a little bit from where was expensive ass
lesson because you're talking about choosing the NBA finals lesson.
But you feel better about him going forward now that
maybe he's going to turn the corner. Well maybe you
get that moment of recognition. I hope he comes back
shredded and that if they failed, he can go what now?

Speaker 3 (10:23):
What now? Jerks?

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Because the other part to this, right is, you know,
best player leader, all of that where we try to,
you know, put it in a pot and melt it
down to where they have to be one and the same.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Isn't that in.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Theory why they brought Kyrie Irving and though that he
was the maturity guy and that was gonna help lead whatever,
And then all of a sudden, as soon as it
became convenient. Nobody's talking about Kyrie Irving at any point
in any of this. Now he's getting a nice wash
him up kind of moment in the postgame interviews at all.
But it became about Luca not being a good lead
leader and all this other stuff. It's like, what about him?

(10:58):
What about Jason Kidd, who's been there and been through
all this, not being able.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
To coach Luca through these kind of moments.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
And here maybe it was just public backlash because Michael
Finley took his beer. He had an extra forty eight
hours on social media to read all the responses and say, wow,
this is how they see me. I don't know, whatever
the case was. At least for one night, you got
that resolve and to go through. And I'm only half
joking about the physicality, you know, and where he's at,

(11:28):
you know, in terms of how he keeps himself in shape.
I loved everybody taking their shots at reporters and all
that are calling for the guy to be, you know,
being out of shape. When let's face it, most guys
take the elevator because they can't do two levels of
stairs or whatever. But when you look at it, it's

(11:48):
like he's played a lot of basketball and a lot
of weary minutes. And yes, we could say, oh, he's
only twenty six, he should be able to do this
that the other. When you're beat on for forty minutes
a night and you don't have a lot of easy
minutes along the way, I mean, that's gonna.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Wear on you.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Now, if you're in a little better cardio, sure, if
you're in you know, whatever else you want to say.
I don't know how you know physically, Like, have we
seen the President's you know, test of physical fitness where
he rated their relative to other NBA players. I think
sometimes it's an unfair judgment because that was always the

(12:24):
case with Harden as well, right, except when he was
wearing the fat suit that time that he leaned into it.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
But otherwise it's the all right, this guy's on.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
The ball and getting beaten up for all of these
minutes every game, and then you add another sixteen to
twenty to twenty four or however many it takes to
get through to an NBA finals, and we're supposed to
just say, hey, it doesn't matter, man, you're still supposed
to be able to run forty two minutes against the
best competition. You've seen all season, and damn you if

(12:54):
you get tired, how dare you? I mean, that's that's
what he's wearing. Like the immaturity, the stuff with the officials,
all of that is valid. Some of the Hey, he's
tired and he shouldn't be.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
But that's part. But that's part of the maturity is
understanding this is what I need to do. But I'm well,
But I'm.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Also saying the maturity of the reporters on the other
side that that that becomes the easy cop out, just
because he's not shredded, you know, and he's not doing
tonal commercials like Lebron James. The guys have been covering
the NBA playoffs now for two months. They're running out
of stories. Man, they only have so much left. Come on, hey, hey,
how about we do this worst karma moment Michael Finley

(13:33):
taking the.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Beer or the oilers fan flashing the camera.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
None of these those teams have won since those things
have had oilers.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yeah, how do they not put her up against the glass?
Last night?

Speaker 1 (13:43):
They just found her like a podcast, finally just found
her like and interviewed her.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
A podcast.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
I don't know, I'm just saying, like, she like disappeared
after she flashed everybody knowing she.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Disconnected all her social media that was all sorts of
stuff and finally shit a podcast and now she's on that.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
I think only fans was looking for tying to pay
her a Lotah, I mean, like you're surprised. No, only
fans was looking for her. I'm just I'm just saying
only fans and couldn't find her. Like, no, only fans
look at her and they couldn't find her.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Man, I mean missed. Some people don't want to be founder,
and some people, well they found her.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
I said, you to like a borschool podcast or something
that'd mean you figure bar in the car and whatever.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah, police detectives use those people to find people.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Hey, you guy that go out there and find that
woman who flashed the camera at the end of the
Western Conference finals.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
She's wearing the Oilers jersey and she's got a hat on.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
All right, didn't look like she could do it, but
she picked up the hockey jersey, which is pretty heavy,
and she showed everybody. Oh what God gave her. Let's
go find her, bring her in and question her. You
know who's been more invisible? Who's that Connor McDavid. Well
find that I'm wrong. We'll find that guy too.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:57):

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Hello, Live fromati rack dot com Studios, where we just
watched the Mavericks roll over the Celtics, who are somewhat
interested in playing this game tonight. Did the Mavericks roll
over or did the Celtics? The Mavericks rolled over a
team that rolled over. Okay, one seventy nine to thirty two.
Your finals are one twenty two eighty four, so was close.

(16:58):
Have the Mavericks god their way back into the series?
What do we make of Luca? Are we just going
to crown the Boston Celtics on Monday Night? Joining us
now on the hotline? No one better and a guy
who's going to spend a lot of time the next
couple of days sitting next to Mike Harmon. That is right,
It is the big Dog. NBA analyst former NBA star
Ryan Hollins. Dude, what's happening?

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Man? What is going on? Fellas my guy?

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Hey, first, I want to say this. This is brought
to my attention today. Whoever is playing you and Clipped
looks nothing like you? Man, Come on, dude, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (17:31):
It's actually my former teammate, Mike Faye. We came into
college together. So I'm glad in somebody I know. And
the running joke is that if you two were playing
each other in a series, that's the equivalent of me
getting that chance to have Mike play me and Clip.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
So I'm pumped up because.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
You got like a shirt on under your jersey and
an earring, and I'm like, that wasn't you.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
When you were playing at UCLA.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
No, that's completely Mike. Man boos with me because that's
his swagger. I never wore a shirt in practice, and
he knows that, and he knows I don't have earrings.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
He knew that.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
Mike knew that. So I'm gonna when I see Mike,
We're gonna have some words.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Well when you show back up for Rockets camp or
you suddenly gonna be rocking some studs or what.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
No, no, no, no, no, no, that's Mike. That's Mike. Mike
chose to be Mike faith He chose to be himself
rather than me. He put himself on the clippers.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
He wants to live your life. Man, that's what you did.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
That's what you do, all right, the dog.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
When it comes to this game tonight, how much of
this was the Mavericks came out and played loose, and
how much of it was the Celtics ready to go
home after the midway point of the first quarter.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
A man, that's not to the Mavericks. They came out
and they fought, they could have got swept. They know
that they owed that home court is just due and
I think the biggest thing is that Lucas got a
friendly whistle. Everybody's been back from his defensive and granted
it has to be better than it was tonight, but
when you when you saw Luca, there are a number
of calls in Game three that he didn't diet and

(19:09):
the way that he plays, If you let those plays
go on, you don't make those calls, it shifts the
whole dynamic of the ball game. And you know, we
don't want to take anything away from Boston's ability to defend,
but when you blow the whistle on Luca, and that's
where those comparisons of James Harden come and play, he
really becomes impossible to guard.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
What was interesting watching the different treat game three and
here was just the physicality right of the Celtics on
him last game, whistles not coming, and then it looked
like he was just seeking any contact, going trying to
theory test as to where that line was, whereas tonight
he just went straight at it and kept finding a
way to get that step back moving.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
It looked like a lot of the excuses that he
had was gone. Yeah, and you know he was made aware.
You know, probably frustrated Bears. The first time I found
out he actually found out in his career. So I
think it was a number of things. Was it was
one of those no excuses type of games. And the
one thing that I'm really saying shine forward is experience.

(20:11):
You know, you got to think a lot of the
Boss and Celtics played in the Championship against the Wars
and loss. That's experience. Joe Holliday is a champion and
on Dallas's side, it's pretty much it's literally only Kyrie Irving.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
When it comes to this game.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
And you watch the Mavericks play tonight, they played with
more energy, they played like they didn't want to go home.
Did they extend the series for a day or do
you give them a chance to win on Monday night?

Speaker 4 (20:37):
I think you give him a chance. How dominant to
win was? You know that Dallas is better than what
they've been showing. And you can glean back to the
closeness in some of these games. Man, you know came
you know from a player to you know, think about it.
There's a fast break with the kid from Charlotte and
he ends up getting push in the back. That was

(20:58):
a no call. There's a number, there's a number of
there's a number of whistles that were missed in this
series that kind of pivoted this series just the game
and makes it a series. So I think it's definitely, really,
really hard to come back from three to zero. But
at the end of the day, I do think this
will come back to Dallas, back to Luca.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Is he unfairly criticized for quote being in shape?

Speaker 3 (21:23):
It's just trying to go through it.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
You know, all the extra games you're playing and a
lot of weary minutes on the ball. You know, the
difference between the greats, and then we compare him to
the all time greats?

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Is that fair?

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yes? And no, He's been this Luca the entire season
and playoffs, and everybody has celebrated him. They're showing this
film of him getting blown by. He's always been blown
by defensively, Yes, those things have always always happened. So
it's like, why are you guys poking at that? But no,
it's very hard for him to end up being a

(21:58):
world champion and play like that, and it started to
get exposed. So I think a little bit of why
you guys have such a problem now is my issue
with hearing those things, but absolutely he has to be better.
I think you can compare it to Steph Curry when
Steph Curry said, Hey, I'm not just going to be
a you know, a punching bag defensively or a cone.

(22:20):
I'm going to come out and hold my ground at
least in the team concept. I'll be good defensively. And
you know, hat's off to Boston for their team construction.
You can't hide Luca on the floor, so you know
they're finding that mismatch and they're attacking him. And Boston
had realized in the first three games that their best
defense against Lucas what it's their offense.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Ryan Hollins, our guest to Jason Smith Show with Mike
Carmen lifemthtyrech dot Com Studios. All right, are you believing that,
you know, we heard the report from Brian Windhorse the
other night that the Mavericks have wanted Luca to change
and adapt and evolve his style of play from complaining
to the referees, not trying to draw contact and a
justice style of play, and they've been pleading with him

(23:04):
about it. Is there some kind of disconnect between the
Mavericks and and and luk at Donsi and they really
didn't to do something or is this sort of just hey,
it's made up.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Because of how the finals have gone so far.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
No, I mean, I think that's been a talking point
the entire series or probably the probably last year or
two with him. But here's the thing. He's so great.
He does so many other things well that when you
when you see him complaining, you're like, eh, but he
got this, this and this, and he hits amazing shots
and look at the position. You know, they have made
it as the top to one of the top two

(23:37):
teams in the entire NBA at this point, So now
everybody wants to throw a fit, so you know, just
all eyes are on the situation. At the end of
the day, it could end up talking them this series,
so you know, yeah, it is going to be a
tough listen to learn. And he's young, he's still he
still hasn't gotten to that point. So I do think
there's a little bit of truth, But it's tough that, Hey,

(23:57):
how do you go out and can't coach a guy
that magnitude in that talent and really get on him,
especially with the success that he's had.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
All Right, let's move away from the series.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Obviously, you and I'll chop it up the next couple
of mornings nine am Pacific tomorrow, six am Sunday, so
we'll get.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Into it deeper.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
Coming off to Danny Hurley rebuffing the Lakers, what was
your initial response.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Man, I think it's embarrassing as the organization where you
when you swing and miss it is. I don't think
it's anything that you ever want to do. The reality also,
and this is what comes into play. What did Derbaham
do wrong? You came out and you fired him, and
what more of a chance that he has. So you know,

(24:43):
the new coach that may be potentially hired is always
going to reach back to the old coach and maybe
give him a call or see what happened and say, hey, man,
do I want to be a part of that. And
at the end of the day, it's the truth. Man,
It is a hard job to coach Lebron James, and
I think Danny Harley just says that the number isn't
high enough. And then again that's not the best froster

(25:04):
that you're stepping in the coach. You know, for an
NBA coach, your best position is to be stuck where
in a rebuild. If you're in a rebuild, the expectation
to win isn't there. When you have Lebron James is
always going to be an expectation to succeed and win.
And I think Eurley just didn't want to be a
part of it. And again, also as an NBA you

(25:24):
could be the third most person. You got to answer
to players, you got to answer to a GMS, you
got to answer to an owner. So it looked like
something that Danny just didn't want to be a part of.
But the Lakers, it's going to be a tough vote
round because even if you hire JJ Reddick, it's not
going to be the end of things. But I think
the one a pill of JJ Reddick, the Lakers are

(25:46):
always under a lot of scrutiny. So if you have
JJ as a coach, hopefully with his media training, his
expertise as a player, he'll be able to kind of
weather some of those storms. Man, because it's no easy
sledding in LA.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
He's on Twitter at the Ryan Hollins that is at
the Ryan Hollands NBA analysts. Former NBA star and star
of the show clipped that's right, you get royalties now, man,
you're gonna get like twenty nine cent checks for the
rest of your's working on that. He's getting nothing right now.
Mike's getting those twenty nine cent royalties.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Take it easy, buddy. We'll talk to you next week.
Touch you in the morning.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Mike's getting the royalty is no, but Hollind's at you.
How Old's has to get some ko He's featured in
the in the movie. He gets some kind of royalty.
It's just a dramatization of your You got nothing now,
but you still get you still get royalties if they
use your Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying it's a lot.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
I think it's like thirty cents or thirty nine cent whatever.
I mean, it's what you get.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Two dollars check every Oh they just ran clipped on
on FX now or whatever it is. Oh, yeah, here's
here's a check for two dollars or thirty seven cents.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
You're just dramatic, you know, dramatized there. I just told
him his his money. Mike is in l Bundy's couch.
E don't find it.

Speaker 1 (27:01):

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (28:03):
It is The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. You see how I spoke that Andrew Vaughan
making the last out of an inning into existence.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Very nice there, buddy, feeling pretty good. Good job by me?
Yeah yeah, uh stink.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
There are highlights and there are things you're gonna see
on social media for the next twenty four hours, and
then there's what happened tonight in the Mets Padres game.
Uh in on social media right now, you're going, why
is Manny Machado the number one trending topic in sports?
We had an NBA Finals game, Yes, it was over
for four hours. In the seventh inning of this game.

(28:39):
I mean, there's Manny Machado, there's Manny being Manny, there's
Manny not hustling, and then there's Manny what he did
tonight leading off the seventh inning. This is this is
a game in which it's a one run game, right
Padres are you know they're at the the the edge
of the wild card lead. The Mets are three games
back down, there are two games back.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Look at the Bets. Your season's over.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
And this is what happened with Manny Machado leading off
the inning hitting a ground ball to third.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Could have happened one two coming slider hit off the
ground at the third and put it by the into's grabs.
It again that throws on Machado.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
I'm running hard. That a little Pip Fletcher thing, but Manny's.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Healthy, does not always but hard to first base. The crowd.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Yeah, uh, not only was he not running hard, Manny
Mitchado hits this grounder and blows a bubble as he's
running down to first bat. There's not hustling, and then
there's hey, ground ball, I'm blowing a bubble. And here's
the thing. You look, baseball players, you have to give
them more credit. They know who's in the field. They

(29:50):
know Mark Vento's is not a great third base. They
know he's up in the majors because he's hitting. He's
a really good hitter, and he's playing third base because that's.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
The only spot they have for now.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
I know, just because I'm a Met fan knowing, Hey,
he's done better defensively, he's really done great stuff in
the offseason, which is why he's playing every day now,
and he's won the job and he's been a really
good player else But well, because Brett Baty stinks. Yeah,
he's great in TRIPLEA, but he can't hit well.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
But you know what, they they've got to create another line.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
You know, he's you know he's not a good fielder,
and you hit a ground ball to him, and not
only do you not husse, but I mean just the
just the I'm absolutely quitting because I'm blowing a bubble
as I'm running up the front.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
I don't know that I've seen that. I've seen guys
not run hard.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
I've seen guys get all the way to first base
and not want to run through and run back. I
don't know that I've seen a guy just so and
I'm gonna blow a bubble halfway down the line because
he boots this like this should be if you're running
at all.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Yeah, you're at first base, and.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
You're the leadoff batter of the inning, and you're on
base in a one run game. Anything in the thirty
seventh anniversary of the Nice Game, Pretty Boy moment, that
could have been seven in a row in a row. Yeah,
that could have been the error that op in the
floodgates to ruining someone's day, just like Hernandez did on

(31:05):
the famous Seinfeld episode. And instead, Machado was caught lollygagon
once again. I like the attempt at the hip flexer,
but then immediately shifting back to well, he's not exactly
known for hustling down the bass patch because I've seen
guys like when they see the ball sucked up like
a hoover vacuum that they just look as like I'm
not beating that out and they'll stop running all together.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
He's a bull dodger. But just but just think about it.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
You know what it takes chewing a piece of gum
to blow a bubble? Yeah right, this is not where
like instant. You know that you have to chew, you
have to get the gum to the front part of
your mouth, you have to push it with your tongue,
then you have to blow. The bubble comes out.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
Now he was.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
Watched the figerously and chewing bubble gum blowing a bubble
at the same time. So now we know at least
he can do that. He's got great coordination. He can
walk and chew on that same time. You can't congratulations
Manny Machada. But just to know that that's that's what
I mean, at least that's what it is for me
to blow a bubble. I don't know, maybe is that
is it different? Have I described you?

Speaker 5 (32:04):
Do?

Speaker 1 (32:04):
You blow bubble differently than that, Like you get the
gum in the front of your mouth, and you got
to use your tongue to push it so you can
blow it, you know, because if it's two, if it's
two together, you don't get enough of the openness to
be able to blow the bubble.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
So you get it there, you blow the bubble.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
The bubble goes as far as it does, it pops
either you pop it with your whether your teeth or not.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Like that's.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
No, it's it's been of minute since I've had enough gum,
So just do like the little chick lit kind of gums,
you know, So you got something.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
But that's a.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Lot to concentrate on. When you're running up the first
day running, you're more concentrating on the gum than beating
out the ground ball that was horribly booted by the
third basement.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
Jason, you saw this story and were like, this is
literally the least shocking.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Suit, you know, because I've never seen a guy blow
a bubble. To be even Machado, I have not seen
him blow a bubble with first base line. It's like
a lot of these stories, well, you know the Aaron
Rodgers story that we spent the early part of the
week on of him showing up whatever, it's like, you
just know it's him, right, You've seen a lot with
Manny machatdo not hustling that was that was a given.

(33:12):
If you would have put down a dollar in front
of me and saying, guess who didn't run to first pace?

Speaker 3 (33:18):
I don't need anything else nothing.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
No, no, again, there's not running down to first base.
And then there's I just don't then knowing I hit
it to a guy that's not a great fielder, and
I'm still gonna gonna take the time. It's more important
that I blow a bubble running down the first face.
I guess, Michelle Machado, even if you added the I'm
gonna look cool, not hustling down to first pace, I'm

(33:41):
gonna blow a bubble. He is who we thought he
was done in playoff games.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Due he has not.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
He's not blown a bubble going down. No, he's not
a video of that moment. I have not either way,
LOLLI video or it didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Hip doesn't even hurt. That's a whole other thing. But
he's gonna blame it on that.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Uh yeah, but okay, I get it, and there's not
but the fact that, yeah, I'm just.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Not gonna run. I'm gonna blow bubbles. I'm going up.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
And also, by the way, earlier in the game, he
struck out ball, got away from the catcher, didn't run down. No, no, no, no,
you're just gonna attag me at some point, you're just
gonnattack me.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
What did he do for the third third act?

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Because they come in threes, right, I mean, I'm not
running out the pass ball.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
I'm not gonna run down on an a fault. But
this guy boots. Why does win Grima strikes him out tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (34:32):
Hey, we almost have to bring Grimace into the ninth
because he has a little shaky but at least waiting
streak with since Grimace and now that they.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
Maybe that's what it is, the Grimace winning, but.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
They always include in top say the long standing thing
of the first pitches of you know, celebrities, athletes from
other sports. This year, they're really piping. Here's a Stroud card,
here's a web Banyama. Now they can make a Grimace
next year. I'm excited. Oh, I can't believe there hasn't
been one of those instantaneous hey throws out. I didn't
Mets go on win streak, Like, how is maybe now

(35:04):
that is an actual streak. I mean, come on, man,
the Mets record since Grimace was the city field, suddenly
you gotta get rid of mister Metton.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Have Grimace there, almost wore my Grimace shirt.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Maybe you have Grimace and mister met fight on the
field and the winner gets to stay as the Mets mascot.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
I like the cut of your gypsy.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
I keep suggesting the fight between all the insiders in
the NBA. Yeh, yeah, sure, okay, okay, So Grimace and
mister met can be on the undercard or is that
for the under heavyweight title? Don't you want to see
Grimace and mister met fight. Don't you want to see
mister Mets head come off? Do you want to see that?

Speaker 4 (35:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:36):
That's it, that's the I mean, I'm still recovering from
watching Dooku's head rolling around, exit out about of Presco,
exit swollen Dume. The Jason Smith Show with my best
red Mike Carbon coming up next, the biggest sports story
of the day. I wish I understood more.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
That's
