(01:03):
just like the Nicks took the soul of Thompson. Hey,
I just want to say this, at least TIBs knew
he had to have Jalen Brunson in the game in
the final second, so there was that at least the
last few minute.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Day.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Oh, okay, just want to make sure I got I
learned as a head coach, right, JJ Reddick said last night,
I'll learn from my mistakes and be ready next year.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Tims learning from the other night.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Oh, should make sure we have Jalen Brunson in the
game in the final three minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
They did.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
He hits another big clutch shot and the Knicks go
on to the second round.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Was one of the greatest I'm going to start my
comments by saying, yeah, yeah, yeah, I might have made
some mistakes.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I'm learning.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Leave me alone next now ask me questions so I
can storm off again. People learn, People learn so bad.
But yeah, I mean, look for Jalen Brunson also learned bad.
Fourth quarter didn't matter tough one man.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
You know, look, I want to say this because because
because this is serious about this, right, We've had a
lot of fun in the last hour talking about Jalen
Brunson and what he's done.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
But there are certain guys in.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
The NBA that when you get to the end of games,
you know, you know they're gonna take the final shot.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Okay, but the guys.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
That can make it, and he creates separation against one
of the best defenders in the league, right he knows,
I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go all out to my
left and I'm gonna get Thompson going where he can't stop,
and I'm gonna stop and cross over back.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
And that's exactly what he did. He knew what he
was doing right from meeting.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
When he got the ball, he takes all the way
and Thompson can't even stop. He almost winds up in
the sideline. And by the time he gets all the
way back to the middle, Brunson is able to stop,
gather himself, take a nice calm, three hits it, and
the Knicks win and they go to the next round.
Like there's clutch guys in the NBA, and Brunson's at
the top of that list. Like I don't know that
there's You have two more guys in the NBA that

(02:53):
are more clutch in final moments than than Jalen Brunson is.
Despite the fact that he's not a big guy, He's
still gets his shot off right, which gives me a
huge advantage over Steph Curry because the end of games.
Steph Curry can't get a shot off, right. We see
it at the end of every Warrior game. A bigger
defender gets over to him and he's done and he's cooked,
and he's got to try to pass the ball out
and he picks up his dribble and he can't do it.

(03:14):
Like there's not there's not two guys in the NBA
at the end of games more clutch than Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Yeah, Jalen needs uh. I mean Steph at this point.
I mean, look, the accolades are there, the history is there.
I mean he needed a heavier base, I think, because
I mean that's one thing brunts and he doesn't get knocked.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Off a shot or off the ball.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
He's got a guy, uh that that is sturdy in
that regard. But he's fun to watch and he's a
guy that has no conscience when it comes to it. Right,
no matter what the last possession was, he comes back
to it. So is I have to no matter what.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
My fourth quarter was, No, No, he wasn't.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Right, Yeah, I'm watching him taking it one on five
every time.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
At my turnover mon man, Right, I mean you heard
it on the call of you know, the length and
being aware of Thompson's reach didn't matter.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
He left him off. Here's what you need to do.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
You need to go and get creative with your candor
or whatever software you're gonna use, and go back and
steal some of the old uh wildly coyote running towards
the edge of the cliff and you'd have that screeching
sound and then he'd hold up the sign saying help.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
That was Thompson. It was Thomson all of a.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Sudden held up.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
He goes yepe when he falls off the falls off
the cliff. I mean look that, I mean that's Brunson.
And and and what is amazing about him is that
he's not tall, he's not fast, but he still finds
a way right. And and you know you hear a
lot of what brunts in like how does he look
so good? People want to dismiss him because he's not
he doesn't have that kind of body where okay, he's

(04:45):
not Jason Tatum where I'm gonna get my shot over
everybody else because I'm just that good.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Because he's boring, like Tim Duncan.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Would you stop you exact? People? Not really you think
he's you think he's boring. So that was boring.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
That was boring, right, No, no, no, but but that person.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
They exciting. No, can you remember one Tim Duncan game winner?

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, he had several against the Lakers in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
That that's why you hate it.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
It scarred his soul for for years. Look at it.
I mean trying to say Tim Duncan wasn't born.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
No, Tim Duncan was very boring.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Stop Jalen Brunson holds the back, carries a basketball.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
He's the point guard.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
He's the guy that does.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Not like No, no, Kay Cunningham does. I'm going, wow,
that's a carry. Wow, that's okay. But the fact that
that he's able to do it when he's not a
physically dominant player is really what kind of sets him
a part and makes him and makes him that kind
of player. Where again, he's not big, he's not fast.
He's not gonna dribble all the way around you and

(05:47):
get to the hoop and and and blow right by you. Right,
he's not gonna be able to stop and take a
jumper over you. But he's still gonna find a way
to either hit the fade away, create space for three,
or lean in for contact, which he does better than
almost anybody in the NBA, where I can draw the
contact on a foul because I'm going to lean in
at the right time. Like how smart he is. The

(06:08):
the IQ he has for the game is just off
the hook. That's how I see him, and I go.
I knew when the Knicks got him, I said, this
is a new error for now, this is a new
era for the Knicks. Everything's going to be around.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
What he does.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
And here he is with Karl Anthony Towns foul out
of the game doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Mckel bridges with having a good night. You knew he's
going to take the shot.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
The Pistons had their best defender on him, and he
put the best defender all the way to the side
of the court.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Like that's what Jalen Brunson does. Incredible, incredible.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Are you on his PR team?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
I yeah, right now, I am, yes, yes, I am
just got Come on, man, he just got us to
the second round of the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
He had forty in a closeout game.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Come on, man, forty unflappable on the road getting it done.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Go New York, Go, New York.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
Go.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
So we'll have more on the NBA coming up with
Brick Buker in about fifteen minutes. More reaction to this
game to the Lakers, what we're going to see in
the second round of the playoffs. But another day and
another big, fresh heaping help of TMZ style controversy courtesy
of Bill Belichick and Jordan Hudson, the duo that's been

(07:14):
in the news since the CBS This Morning interview on
Sunday where Jordan Hudson interrupted it a few times and
saying we're not going to talk about how we met,
which threw everybody into it tizzy. Why aren't you want
to talking about how you met? Bill Belichick has said,
we thought it was going to be an interview just
about my book. CBS said, no, we never had that
out there at all. We was just going to be

(07:35):
a wide ranging interview. And then slowly we've been getting
other dribs and drabs stories since this big Sunday morning
that Jordan Hudson and many times threw a wrench into
the interview, one time storming out for a half hour
and causing a half hour delay in the interview. And
now today we get the reports that she was the

(07:56):
one that put the the end to.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Hard knocks Now yesterday we heard it.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah, you know her, her involvement wasn't great, and hard
Knock's pulled the plug. More details today The New York
Post has details that she wanted to be involved in
be an executive producer and had made demands and hard
Knock said, this is not what we're about. We're not
going to do it, and that's why they backed out. Yet,
the Bill Belichick book tour still goes. It's got another

(08:21):
appearance coming up a few in a couple of days.
We're gonna get Belichick. The book tour is going. And
everybody has had one opinion about this the last few days.
What is going on right Bill Belichick? Is he being
held hostage? Belichick is just completely being run over by
Jordan Hudson, right. What I call her She's like Lady Macbeth,

(08:41):
except you know, she's not a fictional character.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Here.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
She is running everything she wants the fast lane, jumping
into his life and taking control of it. But let
me throw something a little bit different out there for you,
Mike Carmen. Bill Belichick and Jordan Hudson are courting all
of this disaster press. They both love it. He's not
being a hostage. He's completely lost in the relationship. I'm

(09:05):
seventy two, I'm dating a twenty four year old. I'm
in the news every day. Suddenly everything is different. I
am completely in the IDGAF part of my career. I
really don't care. I'm showing up for a CBS This
Morning interview wearing a T shirt with a hole in it.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
That's gotta be thirty five years old. I don't care.
I'm gonna wear a knave.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
This is about my book, But I'm gonna wear a
Navy T shirt that clearly had seen better days.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Not gonna show up and wear a suit and tie.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Not gonna wear no, no, no, Not gonna wear a
hoodie that at least doesn't have a hole in it.
I'm gonna show up and look like I'm fifteen years old.
He's not the same guy. He's done interviews. He knows
what interviews are about. He knows how all of this
is going to play. He knows that this is the
crazy part. He knows this is gonna hurt North Carolina football.
He knows how he's acting is hurting North Carolina football.

(09:57):
Because North Carolina doesn't know how to deal with George
Hudson and what's going on right now. They're supposedly not happy.
This can't be helping their brand on the field, where
he has yet to coach a game. He knows his
career and his image is circling in the drain, and
he just doesn't care anymore. He's not the same guy
he was like sometimes, you know, you heard midlighte crisis.

(10:18):
People have it when they're you know, in their fifties
and I want to go buy a sports car. I
want to go do this, and suddenly I'm gonna get divorced.
Here he is at seventy two, a later in life crisis,
and he's dating a twenty four year old and he's
behaving unlike how he's behaved for the better part of
the last fifty years. You tell me he doesn't know
what he's doing. Yeah, he's lost, he's out of control.

(10:39):
He doesn't care. But in the end, this is where
it's at. This is not him being pushed in the
direction he's not comfortable with. He would have stop that
and said, hang on, this is not who I am.
He doesn't care. He is not the same guy. He
is a wild card now he has an absolute wildcard
he's got a punchline across football in the NFL, in
college football. But he knows this, and he's courting this press.

(10:59):
He's courting this at because he doesn't care anymore. He's
not the same guy.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Yeah, the I don't care anymore is concerning when you've
been that guy, the rigidity you've heard story after story.
Ross Tucker was in a promo he was on with
Dan Patrick talking about how he would prep them for
media by reading all of the clips and watching all
local news of the opponent coming out. Hey, here's what

(11:26):
you're gonna get, and here's how you're gonna respond to
that level of depth and.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Chaos.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
I mean, we know the dog eared rule book and
finding every little angle to play and stretching those as
far as you possibly can. All of that, and then
suddenly you abdicate. That's where you know Barkley and all
these other guys that are raising.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Their hang going, hey, I do the same, right.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
I'd like to think if I really were suddenly a
one hundred and eighty degrees from the guy that I've
been my entire life, a couple of people might grab
me and say, buddy, okay, and maybe he's one hundred Fine, sure,
she's building empires, so she's she's good. You got suddenly
former mid sixties suitors coming out of her.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
I was her guy until that guy came along. And
there he is with this Navy T shirt on, which
I mean is part of the book, right, I mean,
because that's his history and everything else. So I mean
it's not out of the blue, except for the the
rip part. But you know that was who he was, right,
the unkempt, not gonna come up suit and die. Come
on now, CBS this morning, let's go or.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
At least where wear a hoodie, wear a North Carolina hoodie,
wear something that looks like, hey, I know I'm gonna
be on television. He dressed like like like you would
expect a a twenty three year old musician like rockstar
to come to an interview.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
I thought you were gonna say, like a radio host.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
No, you and I would wear a good shirt for that.
I mean, come on, man, that's gonna happen. Come on,
that's gonna go that way.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
But just to think about that for a second, Belichick
knows exactly what he's doing.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
He just doesn't care. He's not the same guy he
was for the last fifty.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Years, so he's just creating a new persona like he's
Madonna or or David Bowie.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
You're done with the thin white dude.

Speaker 1 (13:14):

(15:44):
out game for the Nuggets and the Clippers have a
fifty eight fifty seven lead right now, Jokich with twenty
and five rebounds. Meanwhile, for the Clippers, it has been
all James Harden. He's got twenty one so far. And wait,
things look great for the Clippers, Mike, but tell me
this isn't set up for the Nuggets to beat the

(16:05):
Clippers in seven, like I feel like when the series began,
I'm like, yeah, what we could just play Game seven
in Denver, or we could just say, you know what,
Nuggets are gonna win this in seven, Like you can
see this coming.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Look how happy you are to just advance it and
try to give the Clippers a win?

Speaker 2 (16:20):
What are you doing?

Speaker 5 (16:21):
You know?

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Bet you've watched this franchise for how many years.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Yeah, I'm not saying you got a half out of
James Harden and the Ages.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
I'm not saying Listen, I'm not saying they're gonna lose tonight.
I'm saying they're gonna win tonight and they're losing Game seven.
That's kind of how it goes. Yeah no, but look
what even Clippers fans would.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Tell you that.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
They would go, Yeah, no, it's probably how it's gonna go.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Yeah, well, Doc Rivers isn't part of the team anymore.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
That's what's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
And right now you've gotten Nicola Jokicic looks like an
even larger version of Jason Siegel with that hair and
facial hair combination.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Joining us now on the hot line to break it
all down Fox Sports won NBA Inside are extraordinary. Rick Buker,
you can follow him on Twitter at Rick Buker and
you can see him on the facility tomorrow morning on
Fox Sports when I already have the rundown.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
For the beginning of the show. And here's the first topic.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Jalen Brunson, the three most
clutch players in NBA history.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Rick Buker analysis. Come on, Rick, come on, come on?

Speaker 5 (17:28):
What hello?

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Rick?

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Are you pretending not to hear after that? After that
lead and I gave you or did you really not
hear it?

Speaker 5 (17:36):
I heard every word. I am very disappointed. I'm very disappointed.
Why why would you put Sjalen Brunson in third place?

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Well, I gotta give you, I got to give you
something to debate tomorrow. That this is where you say, no,
Brunson's better than Michael and Kobe put together.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
That's you have to say that.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
Ah ah, okay, all right, so you go, okay it
good good. You were planning ahead. That's very nice.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Exactly front of you knew where I.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
Would naturally take it. Dare you put Kobe Bryant ahead
of jail In Brunts?

Speaker 3 (18:18):
All right?

Speaker 1 (18:18):
So hey, you watch it. You watch it happen. The
Knicks go on to the second round. What do you
make of the Brunton takes every shot in the last
five minutes and he you know, puts a sar thomps
into the sideline with a great crossover and hits that three.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
Uh. He just continues to amaze it. I mean, for
his size, it is still extraordinary and how much they
go to him. And it's really not there's not a
whole lot of design to it. It's it's hand dealing
the ball and figure it out. You know, if you
need something from Josh Hart, you figure out what you
need from Josh Hart. But don't I don't get the

(18:52):
sense that there's any design coming from anywhere others than
jail In Brunson's own head when in terms of what
he's trying to get to and his ability to just
continually consistently create the spaces necessary, and for the most
part he's not finishing at the rim, he's not finishing

(19:14):
over guys. It really is remarkable. Now I am a
little surprised that the Sistance didn't try to trap the
ball out of his hands more and make somebody else
beat them. But that said, he's also very good at
you trap it out of his hands, and then he's

(19:35):
really good much like stuph Curry, not to the level
of stuff Curry, but similar where he's able to relocate
and get the ball back. And now you're scrambling on defense,
so like, I can't break it down anymore than that.
He defies what you expect. And look, I thought that

(19:55):
with the athleticism and with Kate Cunningham, who for the
most part was able to really got the shot. But
the you know, toe to toe with everything that that
Jalen was doing, leading the knicks and making big shots.
The Cave missed a couple down stretch in a couple

(20:16):
of games and Jalen Brunson did not, and that ultimately
ended up, I think being a big difference in this
serial or maybe the difference in the series.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
Now on that shot, we saw bruns and lose Thompson. Well,
how long do you think the skid marks were, like
you hit the brakes on a police investigation as he
slid off the court, you can.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Use but you know, if T and T had had
more time, you know, they would have done one of
those things, or they had Thompson like getting through Times
Square and getting through the you know, the h through
a swimming pool and where they take a little clip
of that and then they just have him getting down
the side of a mountain and all that stuff, because

(20:57):
it was yeah, he would he skidded right out of
the frame like the camera wait a minute, yeah, and
uh he got back to him and tapped the shot.
But yeah, it was. It's what he does. It's uh,
it's really really remarkable his his We talk a lot
about about Luka Doncic's ability to accelerate, but Dalen Brunson

(21:22):
has the same ability. Uh whatt do you replay now,
Amic Thompson, I mean Oarthur Thompson's literally goes out of
the frame.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Yeah, you lose it?

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Yeah, yeah on that drive.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Yeah. It's amazing, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (21:39):
You know? And the funny thing is Rick we talked
about this. You mentioned Steph Curry. These two guys are
the same size, right, they're both six two one eight
five one ninety. Brunton's probably a little bit a little
bit bigger, but Brunson can get his own shot off
the end and every game for Steph that's the same
a big defender is thrown at him and he's trying
to give that peekaboo pass under somebody's arm.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
He can't get his own.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Shot, which again, it's it's it amazes me that these
are the guys are the same. We talk about Steph
Curry and the talent he has. Now he can shoot,
he can't get his own shot off, and Jalen Brunson can.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
Yeah, well, I would say, so, what are you suggesting
that Jalen Brunson, Sep Thirry or where are we going here?

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Well, he's already got him over Kobe and Jordan.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
The hell we got him right behind Kobe and Jordan.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
Rick, Come on, I mean, we thought we thought we
we we blew past Steph Curry.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
We started the interview, come badly.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Steph Curry was in the he was in the rear
view mirror. Rick and we started this conversation. We started
at Kobe and Jordan.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
That's where we started things at. Where do we go
after Wilton? George Micen next? Okay?

Speaker 1 (22:45):
So, uh, now that this happened, looking ahead, you know,
I came into this, this playoff and I'm thinking, okay,
there's I.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Don't feel great. It's a big win, it's a it's
a very look that the first.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Round has become knockdown dre out for almost every single team.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
How do you say the Nicks and the Celtics.

Speaker 5 (23:03):
I think it's going to be a I do think
it's going to be a tough series. You know, I'm
I'm gonna favor Boston, but the question is is health.
I do think that they need Drew holiday back and
playing for them to uh to get to the finals.
I don't I don't know that well. I don't know

(23:24):
that they need him necessarily to win this series. The
big question, the big matchup for me is going to
be or Zingis and and Karl Anthony Towns and how
the two respected teams. I don't know that they're going
to guard each other, but which which of them is
ultimately more effective? The other part is and this has

(23:47):
been the Knicks weakness against the Celtics, you know throughout
the season is is just the size on the perimeter
and the three point shooting ability the Celtics have done
and look at what the numbers are, but anecdotally the
Celtics have an edge on them in terms of their
three point shooting and then just the matchups of the size.

(24:09):
With Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown on the wings, they
can shoot over a Josh Hart no matter how hard
he works, and that's going to be the talent. I
don't know how the Nick find a recipe a recipe
for that, because Ojan Andobi can guard one of them,

(24:33):
but that's going to leave the other one with presumably
Josh Hart, and that's going to be an advantage for
the Celtics.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
All right, now, philibusterring and make him Jason feel good
about the Knicks. Now it's time to come back here
to Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Rick.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
In the fun and ex World of the Lakers exit interviews,
jj eradicates other people like he does Jason Smith. What
grade do we give him on his exit after season one?
And is he really going to build a super team
that is all about conditioning and being able to play
every single minute?

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Yeah, he's Look, I I give him a C plus
and ultimately because I would have probably given him a
B plus a minus going into the playoffs, but he failed.
He failed the final he did. Yeah, there's just too

(25:30):
many There's just too much stuff that he did. And
it's not that he lost the series because I the
Minnesota Timberwolves. Christinch is a better coach. The Timberwolves had
a better bench at this point as far as a
two way player, and Edwards is better than either Lebron
James or Lukadac. So there were a multiple multitude of things. Defensively, overall,

(25:55):
Timberwolves better have more size. The right team won, and
I don't know that the Lakers could have done anything different.
But they lost in five, I would say largely because
Jay Jay just couldn't sort of got stuck in his
ideas and when they didn't work, he stayed with them anyway,

(26:17):
starting with you know.

Speaker 6 (26:19):
Not starting Jackson Hayes and I'm not going to play
Jackson Hayes in game five, and then ultimately I think
the whole series turned on playing the five starters the entire.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
Second half in game four. And I understand it's three
to one, et cetera, et cetera. But you had a
lebron James who faded and was scoreless in the last
six minutes of the previous game. Why would you think
that playing him all twelve minutes in the fourth quarter
of the next game was going to produce anything different.

(26:52):
There was just a lot of decisions made that didn't
make a whole lot of sense, and so and then
to be sensitive about, you know, being asked about those
decisions doesn't doesn't help the matter. So I give him
a C plus. Overall, he was better than I expected
a first year head coach to be, and and he

(27:15):
handled the Bronni James thing about as well as he
could be handled. But ultimately, could they have done a
little bit more in the postseason, and was he the
culprit for the reason that they didn't. That's I have
to put that in his seat, all right.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Rick, last, So let's do this now again, getting you
set for the facility tomorrow morning. If I said to you,
give me one big prediction for the Lakers this off season,
whether it's Luca in shape, Lebron saying I'm coming back,
they add another star. If I said give me one
prediction you feel really good about for the Lakers in
the off season, what would you give me?

Speaker 5 (27:54):
Hmm, that's a good question. I would say that we
will see some sort of trade package that involves Dalton
connect going to get a big man. Maybe that's not
Mark Williams, but gets the kind of rim Runner Love

(28:15):
threats that Luka Doncics absolutely needs fifty two million coming
Lebron's way. I don't see him. I don't see him
opting out of that, and I don't see the Lakers
telling him, hey, if you do opt out, we'll give
you two years for a little bit less, you know.

(28:37):
I see that as him opting in and that being
his last year.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Here we WHOA. That's big.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Stuff. Rick Bucker getting fired up, ready for an early
morning on the Facility. Uh check it out on Fox
Sports One. Don't forget the On the Ball podcast, where
Rick will be debating just where Jalen Brunson ranks among
the all time great Was this shot better than Oscar
Robertson's averaging a triple double that for that whole season

(29:05):
in the sixties. Big debate on the On the Ball, Right,
that's what you got, right?

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Rick? I thought I was reading that on Twitter for you.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
Right, I'm gonna go to Michael Jordan's shot o' Lebrian Russell?

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Oh okay, yeah, Hey, at least Brian Russell state and frame? Right,
I mean that's true? Sorr Thomp said he flew out
a frame. At least Brian Russell stayed in frame.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Why do you?

Speaker 5 (29:25):
I brought it up.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Here? You go, there's an extra ten minutes on the
On the Ball Podcast. Don't forget see Rick tomorrow morning
on the Facility on FS one. Rick, thanks for staying
up with us, man, appreciate it. We'll talk to you
next week. Money go New York, Go New York go Good?

Speaker 3 (29:43):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (29:44):
This is going to be at one more year for
Lebron Now Look, there's a big Laker prediction we'll have
for Lebron coming up in about twenty five minutes. But
it's crazy because you think of Lebron and the level
he's playing at, and I said, hey, he looks like
he could play five more years.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
Could it be one more year? Could it really be
one more year?

Speaker 2 (30:02):
With the way he looked in the fourth quarters in
the last.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Couple of games. I'll tell you, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Time out to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports from someone who's been called the Lebron
James of Fox Sports Radio. She is the all time
leading scorer here at Fox Sports Radio. When it comes
to betting on the Clippers, it's Monty.

Speaker 7 (30:22):
Belagyas Oh, I mean, yes, totally true. The Clippers right
now did come out to a hot start in the
third quarter in eight oh run, putting them up sixty
six to fifty nine, But they just got going in
the third Denver shot over sixty percent in the first half.
Clippers only shot fifty percent and went into halftime with

(30:42):
a one point lead. James Harden twenty one points. Kawhi
Leonard just hit a big three. He's got sixteen points
for Denver. Nicola Jokic has twenty points, five rebounds, four assists,
and Jamal Murray is the next leading scorer. He's got
twelve points to go along with six rebounds and six assists.
Right now, ten minutes to in the third quarter of
this elimination game for the Clippers, and they are up

(31:03):
sixty six to fifty nine against the Nuggets. But yes,
mister clutch was mister clutch today for the Knicks.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
Backing down a sorry Toms and at the logo, plenty
of time left.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
We're tied at one thirteen.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Here in game six, Brunston between the legs field but
gets rid of Thompson.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Walk up reporter, he got it.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
The Clux player of.

Speaker 7 (31:22):
The Year will not be He was not denied. He
put Thompson on skates on that play and the Knicks
eliminate the Pistons one sixteen to one thirteen with that
shot from Brunston. He ended with forty points and seven assists,
but had fifteen points in the first quarter. And now
the Knicks will face the Celtics in the second round
of the NBA playoffs.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Yeahs are gonna three from me. I'm back, I'm down
I'm back.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
Yeah, you're I get it.

Speaker 7 (31:49):
Yes, I feel like I'm going to the finals, except
when the Clippers, you know, clip Russell Westbrook, guys is
like playing.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
What you mean, I hope not?

Speaker 7 (31:59):
I hope nah, I really I will be unwell you guys.
But Russell Westbrook is like shooting over forty percent from
the three point line in this series. I don't I
don't even know what to do, all right.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Speaker 7 (32:08):
After two periods, these Stars have a four to three
lead over the Avalanche. The Kings and the Oilers were tied,
not anymore. Oilers are up three to two without about
eight minutes to go in the second period. The Maple
Leafs and the Golden Knights both eliminated their opponents earlier today,
the Senators and the Wild They're moving on to the
next round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In baseball, two
games still going on. The Rockies just tied the game

(32:30):
against the Giants in San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
It's three to three top.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Of the eighth inning.

Speaker 7 (32:34):
The Angels are still up on the Tigers four to three,
top of the eighth inning. They're playing in La. Earlier
today in baseball, the Guardians took down the Twins four
to three in ten innings, and Hossamidez became the first
person in Cleveland Guardian's history to have two hundred and
fifty homers and two hundred and fifty stolen bases.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
The Royals are up on. The Royals defeated the Rays
eight to two.

Speaker 7 (32:56):
The Mets lost to the Diamondbacks four to two, and
Paul Skins his third line So the season after the Cubs,
if you had the Pirates earlier today eight to three,
back to you guys.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Thanks a bunch. He gave up five three home runs
in the fifth inning of that game.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
Yeah, you've never seen that guy is falling. He realized
he's a pirate.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Why they're glad they why they're glad they sold that
card when they did, Hey, I don't sell it after this.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
General, general with dumb pictures, get rid of that hot card.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Wait a minute, wait, I think we also know Moncey
bet the Pirates and bet schemes today.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
So yeah, you seem upset about.

Speaker 7 (33:30):
That, Yes, I all.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
Right, Well, betting on the Pirates even with Paul Skins always,
even even with Clemente and Stargel and Parker, it's still
tough betting the pirates. Coming up next, we'll have more NFL,
more NBA, but a big NFL story, And I want
to strike a deal with everybody.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
How about this NFL story we stayed, you don't even
know what it is yet, Open the briefcase, open the
strike a deal.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Let's strike a deal that this can be the last
topic we talk about about this specific player.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
That's next, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Hopefully it's Jalen Bronson. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon. Hello,
we got more NBA coming up in about fifteen minutes.
Thanks to Rick Bucker for stopping bye.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
Boy. Could next year really be it for Lebron woo?

Speaker 2 (34:40):
But that sounds familiar from last night?

Speaker 1 (34:42):
I know, doesn't Well? You know, hey, good ideas are
good ideas, right? What I always say, information is free.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Information is free. So Shador Sanders.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
And I like the fact that this is the first
time we've really talked about him. This week big NBA
Playoffs week, obviously with stuff going on and clearly he
is still the topic of conversation coming off the draft,
in his fall through the draft. But every day I
feel like there's a new Shador Sanders suck story that

(35:16):
comes out from somewhere that deals with his behavior going
into the draft. Right, why Shador Sanders falling? Well, we'd
started to hear that he didn't interview well, he was
very standoffish with teams. They didn't like his attitude. He
felt entitled. Right before the draft, we had the anonymous
assistant coach saying, yeah, never met a guy more entitled.

(35:38):
You didn't know if we really wanted to go in
on this guy because of it. And then he falls
to the fifth round, and after that happens, you started
to get a little bit of blowback of oh wait
a minute, why does this feel so personal for Shador
sanderd Yeah, a little personal, but personal sense that it's
personal that yeah, he acted one way and this is

(35:59):
how teams want a quarterback. Are reacting like, I don't
want this guy if this is how he's going to
act an interview with us. There weren't that many teams
that wanted a quarterback, so it's not like you could
go in and say I'll take a couple of interviews.
It's only about four teams. He need a quarterback. If
you didn't want to go to three of them, Hey,
guess what, you know these stories are true because they
don't just come out of thin air. But when that

(36:19):
happened and all of a sudden, there was the pushback
of all this is personal NFL teams. They know in
NFL circles, whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm not getting tagged with this.
You're not tagging me with making something up about Shador Sanders.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
So you're getting reports that, yes, this is what he
was like. He didn't he didn't.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
He didn't like when we pointed out some of his
bad plays in college and asked him to break it down. Supposedly,
one team said what can you explain this? And he
just got mad and said, maybe I'm not the guy
for you if you want me to explain my bad plays,
which is a very common thing that teams like to
do with with prospects that bring him, and explain why
you threw a pick here, Explain why you threw and
complete on this play.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
At this point, we know this, right.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
I get that people blindly wanted to him and teams
and sources don't want to be blamed for it. We
know there's enough smoke on this. We know this is
how Shador Sanders carried himself into interviews. So but that
being said, enough, Okay, this story part, this part of
the story is over. Either he's learned his lesson or
he has it. The worst has happened, and it's done

(37:20):
right everybody, Yes, Shador Sanders did not carry himself well.
And how did he get punished fifth round of the
NFL Draft. Maybe he's a backup. Maybe he makes the
starting position with the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
Maybe not. But we all know this now.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
I don't think anybody's walking around going yeah, maybe not No,
when you get an avalanche of stories and now it
feels like, okay, I don't think we need this stuff anymore,
right because in the end, the kid is twenty one
years old and you don't make a lot of great
diss it. Maybe he doesn't have the right people surrounding it.
Whatever it is. Twenty one years old, you make bad decisions.
He's the guy living with this bad decision. We are

(37:52):
not right. Our lives are all the same. He's a
guy that went from I'm gonna get fifty million dollars
to getting now I'm in a fifth round contract, and
dull ever get paid in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Who if I'll.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Ever make enough money to say I don't need to
work again, all the stuff I've worked for, he's the
guy that's paying for it. I think this part of
the story is done. I keep seeing this and go, okay,
we get it. You know, it's your favorite line that
you like Mike with in the Simpsons with stop stop,
he's already dead.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
It's okay, stop, we know this about Shador Sanders.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
It's enough. He's the guy fighting dealing with this, and
we see how far he's fallen, and let's go past it.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
Yeah, the cautionary tale is out there. The story has
now been written. Now we look for the next act.
Right to me, there were two things that came off.
It won the learning process for him. Your point is
apt the fact that you had only a handful of
teams that truly were in the market for a quarterback.
And I want to applaud all of those war rooms. Okay,

(38:47):
cam Ward was number one. Okay, he goes to Tennessee. Fine,
Eventually the Giants come back for Jackson dark. But what
did they say as the whole to the quarterback class,
including Shador, was we're not doing our normal.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Hey, let's be desperate thing.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
Because we talked about it when we were doing kind
of quasi mocking the draft six weeks eight weeks out,
I was like, well, we'll always have two or three
teams that get desperate and grab a quarterback for once.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
The war rooms didn't do that, So good on them.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
They went and they built the guts, They got the
parts in the car to make it run before they
decided to put a nice shiny coat of pain on
it or a bigger engine, depending on which part of
the analogy you want to run with. But all of
that to say, yeah, some learning was done there. And
for Shadur, now he goes to Cleveland where he was

(39:38):
mocked in a lot of these drafts, something we talked
about last week as it was going on. So he's
got a chance to go win. Did that quarterback room
get any better?

Speaker 3 (39:48):
Really?

Speaker 4 (39:48):
No, Dylan Gabriel's the guy that they drafted ahead of him. Okay,
he's just part of a larger narrative and one more
guy to go and beat out show the attitude show
the learning, show the aptitude that you had scouts, maybe
on more media driven than scouting, that was propelling him

(40:10):
to those heights. But yeah, that's the next dark what's
what's the redemptive story? What's the learning from it? And
for all the quarterbacks that go into these rooms behind him?
And I l's not not going to guarantee you your
NFL future.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Now, maybe there is a one now here, there is
a way to make money.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
Follow me on this right, Like, no, I just look,
you know I like to go to the You and
I both like to go to the Hollywood Bowl and
see concerts. There's a big eighties night coming to the
Hollywood Bowl in a few months.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
And I think Paul Young is there like talking like that.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
If you're the Browns, can you sell tickets and say, hey,
come see college football legends Kenny Pickett, sh Door Sanders,
Dylan Gabriel all in one place.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
You can't get in there and sell sell, sell styles,
your work.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
We don't have college football.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Hey, his jersey's retired.

Speaker 3 (41:04):
Coming up next?

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Lebron James could play another five years, but could he
really only play next year?

Speaker 3 (41:10):
And that's it? That's next Fox
