Rockets right now in control at halftime over the Warriors

(00:58):
sixty to forty six. Jimmy Butler exits the game after
a hard fall going up for a rebound. I'm and
Thompson has pushed into him. Not a dirty play, but
Jimmy Butler goes out walks off under his own power.
I assume it's some sort of tailbone issue. And look,
if he can come back for Game three, Okay, I

(01:19):
don't think the Warriors are expecting to come into Houston
and win the first two games. If he can't come back, boy,
that could really derail the Warriors, because you see what
they've been able to do since they got Jimmy Butler. Look,
and this is a Warriors team that's still not the
best version of themselves, because they will wind up being
even better when they add that next star in the offseason,

(01:39):
because they will at Jimmy Butler was part one of two. Hey,
let's see how we do this year, And of course
we saw them play really well. They're actually absolutely favorites
in this series over the Rockets. But boy, without Jimmy Butler,
it's gonna be hard for them to navigate the rest
of this series over the Rockets. But again, right now,
we're waiting for word on that fourteen point lead for
Houston to tie the series up. But we go back

(02:01):
to the trade deadline and how exciting things were. You
get Luka Danciz comes to the Lakers, the shot in
the arm and all of a sudden all right, they're
a juggernaut, and you start thinking about the title. Same
thing with the Warriors, of all right, how much is
how much is this really gonna work? And then you
see how well they play, and now you get to
playoffs and it's playoff Jimmy like, all right, let's see

(02:24):
what he's able to do and how he's able to elevate.
And now Iman Thompson is being absolutely vilified and excoriated
and crushed and all Draymond Green apologists. I'm sure he'll
do it on his podcast an emergency podcast. Post came
to tell you, I didn't touch the guy. I had
nothing to do with that play. And it's not you know,

(02:46):
he's gonna say, hey, he launched himself at Jimmy.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
I didn't do that.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
No, I tell he did. He was like a free
safety coming for a big hit on a defenseless receiver. Yeah, look,
if I look, I always look. Hey, let's see what
was the motivation here? You can't say it was dirty,
you can if anything, Draymond holding him back forced it
to be a difficult thing because he didn't have position
and Thompson's trying to fight through. Was he not going

(03:10):
to fight through? For the basketball. It's one of those.
It's unfortunate, but it happened. That's kind of way he
stood up. He flies over the top, Jimmy's in an
unfortunate position as the contact occurs and takes the huge fall.
So we'll have more on this again. Sixty forty six
at halftime, the Rockets with the lead, calm the chaos

hours before the NFL Draft, NFL Draft Eve Happy, NFL
Draft ea, and this story is going to get us
into the first of our big bold predictions for the
draft tomorrow. According to sources. You know, it devolves the

(03:53):
Internet sources. Joe Shane's son, who is not Brick Johnson. Right, So,
so we know Joe Shane's kid did not Brick Johnson
posted a whole bunch of videos of Jackson Dart on
social media, then took his account private, the private account
of GM Joe Shane's kid. So the Giants, whoa hey

(04:17):
looking for a quarterback? Now, this is not any revelation,
this is not the Giants are gonna pick Jackson Dart
at three because look, trust me, as much as the
Giants are an absolute mess, they are not going to
repeat their Daniel Jones mistake of a couple of years ago,
where it was, hey, we had to draft Daniel Jones
at number four. We loved it, we had to do it. Okay,
no one is saying because quarterback's got to be a

(04:38):
gut feel. You do your best preparation. But you traded
up to four. You moved up to four to take
a guy you could have gotten at twenty four or
twenty eight, right, So that's really what it was. No
one was coming to take Daniel Jones from you. No
one would come to take Daniel Jones from you now
after they saw him play in the NFL the last
four years. So that was the big thing. They're not
going to repeat that mistake because they win in on
Russell Wilson this year. If you take a quarter back

(05:00):
at number three, all of a sudden, that amps up
the timeline of him having to play. He's got to
play this year, and Russell Wilson only is going to
have a couple of weeks until Jackson Dart is ready.
You can't take a number three pick and say, Okay,
you're gonna sit here forever. Not when you don't have
a guy in front. When them forty nine ers ount
and got Trey Lance. Okay, well, Jimmy Garoppolo is pretty good. Okay, well,

(05:21):
Jimmy's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
We go.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
But Russell Wilson is a placeholder. And you create all
kinds of competition and in a summer of chaos if
you take a quarterback at three. So, but what's going
to happen and this is this is my first Big
Bowl prediction I'll tell you about, is that both the
Giants and the Browns will trade back into the back
half of the first round, really the back seven picks,

(05:43):
but between twenty five and thirty two, both of them
will move into the back half of the first round
and draft a quarterback where it's not as expensive to
go from the early part of the second round to
late in the first round. They want to be able
to take quarterbacks. They will move up. The Giants will
go in to get one, and so will Cleveland because
you could say, well they it's into the top of
the second round, into it. Yeah, but other teams that
Silney quad might move up past them because it's not

(06:05):
expensive to go from the second third. You're talking about
adding a pick that, yeah, it's okay for us to
add a third round pick or a fourth round pick.
They will move up because they are the most desperate
teams that need quarterbacks. And this is where Jaln Milrow
is going to go. This is where most likely Quen
viewers will go. Maybe it's Kyle McCord who's moving up
a bit, but maybe he's someone that's okay later on
late second round, third round, but a lot of draft

(06:26):
evaluators like him. The Browns have spent a lot of
time with him, so of the Giants. But both those
teams will move into the back part of the first
round twenty five to thirty two, and they will both
take quarterbacks. Yeah, you're looking at it not having to
give up much either because you are the first picks
of round two, so the compensation wouldn't be huge. You know,
where you do have the opportunity if you're in that

(06:47):
two or three hole is if you've got job security. Right,
So if Joe, Shane and Dabile were in a much
better place position wise of hey, we just happen to
have a bad season, and think our lucky Stars were
in a position to draft someone for developmental needs. Great,

(07:08):
they're not in that position, right this is the flame
thrower is up and we're burning it down as we
go through. So you can't buy a year of the
waiting game to build infrastructure, because the waiting game sun
and I'd rather play hungry, hungry right to where you
just said, well, we'll take our lumps and he'll be

(07:29):
ready for next year. No, no, no, You've got to
really build your team on the fly. It's what we've
talked a lot about of. You know, the teams that
get it right with their offensive and defensive lines, and
then you go add your quarterback layer. Well, Cleveland, you
like the roster, but you can always use one more,
particularly if Travis Hunter is that guy that is sitting there.
Added two super Bowl winning quarterbacks in the off seas,

(07:51):
you did not just one, Oh guys, and won the
Super Bowl. Now here's the fun part of it. Second overall, pick,
here are your odds. Travis Hunter minus thirteen to fifty.
It's an absolute lot. Lead Pipe Sinch. That's a lot.
Abdual Carter plus seven hundred, Shador Sanders eighteen to one,
third overall. Pick abdul Carter one percent that minus seven
fifty even. I mean you were at eight to one.

(08:12):
When you do an interview with the media today, like
Abdul Carter did and said, yeah, hey, I'll be able
to leave Philadelphia behind. I'm all in New York on
a Okay. He knows he's going to be a child. Yeah,
but he doesn't know about the Shane wild card of
his kid. Hey, and the cloud he has because after
last year's off season hard knocks. Tell me that Shane's
kid isn't walking up to his dad. Gun, I had

(08:35):
that right, should have listen to me? Oh man, And
then Joe Shane says, listen, do me a solid, do
do me a favorite. Can you post a bunch of
videos of abdul Carter? Just please do that? Just just
please do that for me. Just do me the fa
before you go to bed? Okay, great, all right? And hey,
no screens an hour before you go to bed. Okay,
I'll catch you in the morning. What's the negotiation though,
Like if the kid suddenly said, well, but I wanted

(08:56):
to put up the Jackson Dart, well you put up Jackson.
Now you gotta put up Abdul Carter. Yeah, so you
put up to Jackson Dart. Now you've got problems. No, yea,
you created problems for your make because when you don't
draft the quarterback, Giants not have problems before. The Giants
have more problems with anybody. But you're adding to it.
Why why ex ast? Why go back to your dad?
You are you trying to kill the man? That's kind

(09:18):
of what you're doing. Here's the thing, here's what I'm
gonna borrow from. I'm gonna borrow from Pete fu Tech
the rest of my life. If you said to my dad, dad,
the Giants could win the I could guarantee you the
Giants win the Super Bowl rags a Giants fan, or
in a playoff series, I can give you a key
strikeout of a big hitter on another team to end
an inning. What would you take? He would say, Oh,

(09:40):
I'll take the strikeout. I'll take the strikeout in the
since left no middle relief Ro Mendoza. Then the Yankees
bullpen is the fault of everything. Everything in the world
is the Yankees bullpen fault. No matter what it is.
Is your dad written I gotta take to take my
car in what happened Yankees bullpen? Well, what do you mean?
It's said the alignment off it said, yeah, Yankee's bullpen. Ful,

(10:02):
I'm doing a signing and Barnes and Noble, what's the book, Daddy?
Everybody but Rivera problems of the New York Yankees exit
out by the Fresca exit swallow Dome. So try there's
your first big bull prediction here the Giants. And it's
still a quarterback league, right, no matter what you think.
Just because they're not going at the top of the

(10:23):
draft doesn't mean it's not still a quarterback league. And
the race to get those next guys will be there,
and the Browns are going to feel the pressure because
you listen, are you really going to go in with
with Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco and someone you get
in the fifth round? You're not sorry? Super Bowl champion,
Kenny Pickett, super Bowl champion Joe Flaco? Right, and whoever

(10:45):
you get in the fifth round. See how happy you
was walking back into that facility at today. Flacco video
was one of the funniest things, Like that's memable. Love
my card still works. Hey, hey, same people are working.
Hey Joe, Hey, nice to see how You've been great, wonderful. Okay,
that day is not today. Here's that soup you like?
I remember? Do you like it?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Here?

Speaker 1 (11:05):
You go? Oh, thank you, Joe, Hey, have a great
time here. That's awesome. Meil Kenny Pickett comes in with
the small hands and I go, oh my goodness, you
waving to me. Yes, I know nine and three quarter inches, Yes,
I know. I had a little bit of fun. That
might add some fuel to your fire. To give me
a fuel, ample and DJ, give me fuel, give me fire,
give me that which I desire. DJ. They just played
Syracuse the other night, for what it's worth, and James

(11:27):
Headfield was at a local co op grocer. I saw that.
That was awesome. It was a pretty cool James Headfield.
We're looking looking welcome to town, looking really nervous, standing
by himself, and someone taking video was like, yeah, okay, here, okay,
go all right, just you ring me up. But you
made a choice to go out, that's true. And you're
not exactly a guy that can just put a ball
cap on and not know that. James Headfield has a look.

(11:49):
I know you, aren't you, James Headfield? Yes, I need
to see some ID if you're gonna pay for something here.
But I'm James Headfield. Let me see some id I
have lost the will to live. Okay, you're James that Field. Goody.
Remember that song I did with that lady La Da
Da Da La Da Da. Anyway, Tyler Shuck plus two
fifty to be drafted in the first round. Gosh, Jalen

(12:12):
Noro plus one twenty five to be drafted in the
first round. Not exactly talking long odds here. So your
theory just by those two examples, I just strengthen your
argument a million times. Over. Look what I did in
the end. You set me free. Uh, don't forget. Our

Welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Yes, no, I'm not.
I actually could apply for that, you know what. I
have a feeling that I can do as well as
my my Dartmouth Conrad comrade Mike Brown.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
So have out it.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Don't tell yourself you could do a lot. Mike brown Man,
sure enough.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
I know it's not like I know it's not like me,
but you know, I was trying it out. I wanted
to see what it felt like.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Rick. If I put your career up against Mike Brown's career,
that's like saying, Okay, I'm going to put Michael Jordan's
career up against carry animal Bannis yet and you're.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Michael Jordan, I would trade my career for his bank
account in a heartbeat.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
All right, all right, that's okay, all right, but you
also like going on social media. I don't think Mike
Brown likes going on social media.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
I don't think my crown. I think Mike Brown still
uses a typewriter.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
So all right, So look, let's get to what we
saw tonight. First, and the injury to Jimmy Butler. Hopefully
he is okay, he's ruled it out for the game.
Didn't look dirty. And look, honestly, Draymond Green tried to
keep Thompson from getting to the ball. He looks like
he tripped, kind of go through. Everybody puts his hands out.
I know that. Of course, we go crazy on social

(17:23):
media for everything, but it was just it looked like
it was obviously an unfortunate play, but that's kind of
what it was.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yeah, I mean, I think we've had a number of those.
You know, Look, we've become hyper sensitive, and one of
the big problems is that we now see everything in
slow motion fifty times, and we see it at six
different angles, and when you slow it down that much,
everything is going to look etregious or malicious, and more

(17:52):
so than it does in real time. The reality is
we're playing in the toughest part of the season, and
guys are extending themselves to make plays, and as a result,
you're gonna have collisions and you're going to have You're
gonna have stuff like this happen. You can't have it
both ways. You can't ask these guys to play hard

(18:13):
and then micro analyze every contact point that they have
and suggest that that there's a malicious intent. So I
think we can do far too much of that. I
think the referees, quite honestly, do far too much of that.
We had Julius Randall of the other night finishing finishing

(18:34):
a layup and his hand comes down and it's and
that ends up being being a foul. And to me,
it's a lot of this is just guys making plays
and you can't control your body one thousand percent of
the time when you're going as fast and hard as
they are.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Well, I do like then you get the slow motion
of the wink and the nod. Hey, I got that call, right,
So you.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Have all that. I always love that, And I think,
you know, I keep thinking like, you guys are the
free throw line and they got like I thought Jimmy
the other day he had the smirk, or you get
the wink in the nod, and I'm thinking, you guys
do know that, you know the commissioner and the league
and everybody, they're all watching this. So you think you're

(19:18):
going to get another call, you know, don't be surprised.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
If you don't, Well, they'll just add another award for
Best Actor like they do for everything else. Rick. So
let's go to Lakertown while we're at it here in
Los Angeles and inspired early effort against the Wolves yesterday,
but down the stretch, boy, really gripping and having to
ride that one and ride the lightning down the stretch.

(19:41):
What have you seen? Two games?

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Yeah? I mean I think if you if you take
the two team a two games in totality, the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Of Timberwolves have been overall the better team, which I
don't know that we were saying that going into the series,
and to your point, like as badly as they played,
and I think they played as badly as in Game
two as the Lakers played. In Game one, the Timberwolves

(20:07):
had an opportunity to still kind of steal that game.
It was at nine, and I think Aunt Edwards came
down and took a three and missed it. And then
there was another another transition where they should have gotten
something out of it, and Aunt lost the ball in
at mid court with a steal with by Lebron, And
you know, I just I was. After the Minnesota Timberwolves

(20:31):
showed us what they were capable of in Game one,
my thought was, Okay, are they going to be mature
enough to play it to maintain this through game two?
Are they going to be a little fat and happy
and get a little sloppy and and you see this
even with veteran teams, like they suddenly they play fast
and they have a certain tempo and rhythm and they

(20:52):
win a game, and then especially on the road, and
then the next game they go, okay, let's make like,
we're playing with house money. Now, let's be careful less
that's put any big bets out there. Let's and I'm like,
you weren't careful in Game one, and that's what you want.
What are we doing here? But that's the way they
played it, and the Lakers took advantage. But I you know,

(21:13):
I had the Lakers winning the series and then watched
Game one and I was like, wow, I don't I
don't know that they have the depths in athleticism to
be able to win this series. And so my feeling
is that the Timberwolves are going to take it. I
don't know how long it's going to take, but it's

(21:34):
a little bit of what we saw in Game two,
which is the Lakers. If it was a twenty minute game,
then you'd want them to win. But I don't know
that they can sustain it over forty eight minutes because
they just they have nothing coming from their bench and
you're asking Austin Reeves and Lebron James to play hard
at both ends of the floor and the scorers for

(21:55):
forty eight minutes. I just I don't know that they
have enough or that those two and particular have enough
left in the tank to meet that task.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Rick Buger with US, Jason Smith Mike Harmon live from
the tirec dot Com studios. All right, so what you're
telling me is, then the Lakers need to get an inspiration.
One of their players, either Luca or Lebron, needs to
get a big cut in the middle of their forehead
like Porzingis, walk off, wave to the crowd, come back out,
double double, and maybe that gets the Lakers enough.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Yeah, or you know, maybe the wheelchair act by Paul
Pierce that worked well at one point in the finals
to get everybody going. So yeah, something something extraordinary that's
going to turn the tide. But yeah, short of that,
I just don't know if there's enough.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Now here's the thing, and this is something we've talked about.
We talked to this beginning of the show, and you know, look,
the NBA Playoffs are exciting and they're a thrill a
minute and it's an unbelievable reality show for a month
and a half. But really, after watching what we saw
so far, seeing Oklahoma City, just like with a Surgeons
pursuit through Memphis, I look like they should be on
the floor with them. Boston wins going away tonight without

(23:05):
Jason Tatum, the Cavaliers are having no difficulty. Is anything
going to stop us from the Thunder versus either the
Calves or the Celtics or the NBA Championship. I think
at the end that's what's going to be. And I
don't know what can stop that.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Well, the Caves, the Calves are doing a pretty good
job too, so I can't.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
I mean, it's going to be the Thunder against the
Calves or Thunder and the Celtics, Like that's that's going
to be the matchup, and I don't know anything else
is gonna stop it.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Yeah, well, here's my one caveat. And I do think
that Thunder are justifying or maybe reminding us, Hey, you
know what, we did have the best record in the league.
We did win sixty eight games. This is my one
concern about them is that so many of that it's
almost been an embarrassment of riches. They were so good

(23:50):
that they only played five games during the regular season
that were decided by three points or less, and they
were one in four in those games. And I can't
help but feel like they're going to They're going to
have to win those type of games. Somewhere along the line,
probably not in this series. Most likely not in this series,

(24:12):
but they get Denver or the Clippers in the next round,
and I'm thinking that some of those games are going
to come down to last minute execution. And it's not
that the Thunder aren't capable of that, but they just
haven't had a whole lot of practice at it, whereas
every other team. If you look at the top teams

(24:34):
in the league, they've all played a dozen or more
games that were tooth and nail during the regular season,
and they had winning records in them. So that's my
only concern. But I do think that they're legit, and
so I have them going. I have them going. But

(24:54):
if they don't, it's I would say it's going to
be because they just have and had enough experience in
very close games and grinding those out.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
If this Tatum injury becomes something bigger, Rick, are they
deep enough to make a huge run? Who's that these Celtics.
I mean, you got Bloody porzingis so maybe inspired into greatness, yeah,
but giving his history, Jalen Brown's knee, I mean, I
know Pritchard wins this award, Noll, but there's not a

(25:26):
lot of other scoring coming off the bench for depth purposes.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Yeah, no, if there's any team that can suffer, like
I don't think they can lose all three, that would
be sure, obviously, Yeah, that would be tough. Although they won.
The funny thing is they won the other day. I
think with those three shooting like one for twelve from
three point ran so who knows, but I don't like,

(25:50):
I don't know the severity of Tatum's injury. I feel
as if if this was the Finals that he would
have played that this is precautionary. You know, the cut
on the foehead with with perzingis you know, I think
that's certainly something that he can play with Jalen knee
seemed to look okay tonight, So yeah, I look, I

(26:13):
think that attrition is a part of this, and it's
another reason why to believe in Boston, Cleveland and Okay see,
because not only did they have the best records during
the regular season, but they have the most depth. And
I like, you know, the Warriors example tonight, like Jimmy
Butler goes out with the pelvis contusion and they're they're

(26:35):
a different team. They there's most of the teams in
the running can't sustain an injury to anybody that's in
their starting lineup, and you see that with Denver. I
don't know what Michael Porter's injury is. There's something wrong
with him injury reports, but I would say that, Okay,

(26:59):
See Cleveland and Boston can all afford to lose one,
you know, one player out of the rotation and they
can still be close to what we've seen them be.
But anybody else and I think that that puts them
behind the eight ball.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
I mean, look at the Warriors. They've been forced to
play Jonathan Kaminga today.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Yeah, look at that, and it's so good to see
Jonathan demonstrating to them immediately why they haven't been playing.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
You gotta put somebody in. Can't put Rick Barry in?

Speaker 2 (27:31):
I mean, Pat Spencer comes in and is more effective
than Jonathan Kaminga, Like ak, what do you want right
other than forty million a year?

Speaker 1 (27:40):
What do you want?

Speaker 2 (27:41):
All? Right?

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Lastly, Rick, don't sugarcoat it for me. First round series
zooms tomorrow. Nix and the Pistons. How much trouble are
the Nixon on a scale of one to ten, If
one is no trouble, they got this series don't worry
well or ten meaning Jason getting ready for a first
round exit and Tim's getting fired, Bridges getting traded. Wonder time.
How much trouble are the Nixon You're.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
You're in Jonathan coming into trouble, You're in it, You're
the look on the look on your face should be
equivalent to if somebody said you, Steve Kerr, you've got
to play Jonathan kinga forty minutes for the rest of this,
for the rest of the playoffs. Whatever look on his face,

(28:28):
that's the look that you should assume when it comes
to the next It's.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Going to be tough. Okay. Yeah, Smith's eyes just watered
like he's on hot and hot ones, sir. And at
the end of the challenge, as you said that, Rick's
he's on Twitter, at Rick Buker. That is at Rick Buker.
Uh Rick, What do you got on the Ball podcast
this week besides the Knick's funeral? Apparently, dude, I have

(28:53):
no idea.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
I've been doing two shows a day and I'm trying
to finish a book like the podcast. Maybe I'm for
three or four days.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Oh okay, you gotta wait to see what the next win.
Then you get that's the last chapter, the end of
the Yeah, you know what, you know what.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
We meant to call Matt Bucher and see if he
can get something out for Oh.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Good, it's been a while since we checked in on
Matt Buker. Yeah, okay, wait whatever insight. Hey, Yeah, we'll
get We'll get Matt Buker on Yeah, the On the
Ball Squared podcast.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Yeah, we're gonna get his thoughts on h on Karl
Anthony Town. How about that?

Speaker 1 (29:25):
All right, I'm hoping that to you for next week.

Speaker 2 (29:27):

big NBA predictions for tomorrow coming your way. Is I

(29:52):
you know my face I feel bloody like porzingis right now.
After that, he said, you have cominga trouble. He just
laughed when I said, how much trouble the he just giggled.
He just giggled. You couldn't get the sentence out and
just giggle. It couldn't stop giggling. That's all it was.
But first, let's find out what's trending in the wide
world sports and someone who's been called the Karl Anthony
Towns of Fox Sports Radio, she better have a big

(30:14):
night tomorrow night. It's Monzi Belago Swift's trending.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Uh does it make you tell anything any better that
Jonathan Kaminga has eight points?

Speaker 1 (30:22):
So I don't care about that. That's a thing. Man.
The Warriors. If if Karl Anthony Towns has eight points
tomorrow night and they're down fifteen to third quarter, no
I'm not feeling good. No yeah, yeah, for sure. No
Nicks can do it. Nix can do it. Don't worry,
don't worry.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
The Warriors are trying to do it without Jimmy Butler,
after a hard fall in the second quarter, was ruled
out because of a pelvic contusion. He's gonna undergo an
MRI tomorrow. Is the latest on Jimmy Butler. But Houston
is up on Golden State seventy nine to sixty six
with about two minutes to go in the third quarter.
Not just Jimmy Butler being injured for the Warriors, but

(30:59):
a parent, Brandon Pajemski has food poisoning.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
So he's out there like trying to play.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Was shoved and just looks like if you look at
his face, he looks miserable. He's just like, I can't
but barely dealing with food poisoning.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
So we'll see how this one goes.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Ye Oh, here's lead the series one zero, still plenty
of game left. The Celtics now lead their series to
zero after topping the Magic one hundred to one oh nine.
Jaylen Brown thirty six points and ten rebounds. Without Jason
Tatum playing because of that wrist injury, Donovan Mitchell took
over in the fourth quarter for the Cavaliers as they
defeated the Heat one twenty one to one to twelve.

(31:40):
He ended with thirty points, six rebounds, and six assists.
The Calves also lead their series to zero. In Major
League Baseball, Corbyn Carrol has homered twice for the Diamondbacks
and given the lead to Arizona over Tampa five four
as the score top of the eighth inning. The Giants
are shutting out the Brewers for zero. Bottom of the
seventh about to start in San Francisco, the Pirates are
up on the Angels in la to zero.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
It's the bottom of the eighth inning. O'Neil Cruz hit.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
A four hundred and sixty three foot homer for Pittsburgh
and the A's of a five to one leader for
the Rangers. It's the bottom of the fifth inning. But
the best team in baseball is the Mets, who have
won seven in a row and swept the Phillies for
three in ten innings.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Lancie, who has the best record in baseball? Can you
tell me?

Speaker 4 (32:20):
The Mets? Ah, very New York Mets, in spite of
one Soto, Yes, in spite.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Everybody tells me, and we still have the best record.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
It's no good thing.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
I know.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
It is also April, but it's you know, later on
you're gonna be like, remember in April it mattered.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
This may be as good as it gets. The Rockies
have a worse record than the White Sox. So I
got that Gamesay, that's good, that's good.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
We've got the NHL playoffs going on as well. The
Avalanche up one zero on the Stars after two periods.
That series is tied at one a piece. Game two
between the Oilers and the King's La up three to
one late in the second period, and the Capitals now
lead their series two zero after topping the Canadians three
to one. Lastly, Tyler Lockett has tweeted that he's excited

(33:05):
to be signing with the Titans.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
No wide receiver for Tennessee, cam Ward has to update
his wide receiver wide receiver. Gay, Yeah, I gotta put
lock it up ahead of Justin Jefferson, So I have that,

Still a big lead for the Rockets eighty nine to
seventy one over the Warriors early in the fourth quarter. Again,
no Jimmy Buckets in this game. We'll get an update
on him as soon as we can. He came down
hard on his tailbone tailbone area going up for a rebound.
He has been ruled out for the game. Anything past that,
not yet, but hopefully we will have something soon. Eventually,

(37:02):
we're gonna overlay the John Madden classic highlight where that
truck come from? Boom bohack of a play. But look,
NFL Draft Eve, here we are. We've made it. We've
made it, and let's it go. NFL Draft tomorrow night.
At this time we'll be getting ready to come on
the air tomorrow night at this time breaking down all
the big first round action for you. And I will

(37:23):
tell you this right now. After reports yesterday that the
top three teams were all making phone calls and trying
to figure out if anybody wants come up and take
a draft pick from them, the Titans decided we're staying
at number one. Of course you're gonna take a quarterback.
They just signed Tyler Lockett. Okay, another big weapon. Now
they got three of the five best receivers in the NFL.

(37:43):
According to cam Ward, you have Ridley and Burkes and
now you have Lockett. My goodness, the Browns probably due diligence. Hey,
in case somebody wants to give us a ton, they
really want Travis Hunter. We'd be a fool not to listen,
because as much as we love I have a starner,
he gives us an identity. He's still a cornerback and
a wide receiver right with blows away. But the team

(38:06):
that I think is dying for you to come and
take the pick away from them are the Giants. They
are dying to have you come and take this pick
because what they really want to do is draft Ashton Genty.
They really want to because you look at what happened
with Saquon Barkley. They drafted him early, the second overall pick,
and oh Barkley, Barkley was really good. Then he was

(38:27):
hurt for a while. Now he goes to the Eagles
and they win the Super Bowl, and all Shane and
Dable and everybody is hearing is you let that guy go.
You let him go, you let him go, you let
him go. Meanwhile, it's just a bad optic. Of course,
gonna let him go. Of course there's a Giants. He'd
struggle to run for one thousand yards of giants stink.
But they see this, and this hangs over the franchise.
Saquon Barkley hangs over the franchise. They are dying to

(38:50):
take Ashton Genty at three, But why are you really
gonna take a running back at three? They would love
to move down a couple So I want to go
up and get Abdull Carter right now. That's who they're
gonna get. And look, Abdul Carter's a great pick. The
Giants built or built on their defensive line. It was
it was brought him to the playoffs. A couple of
years ago. He would be an absolute stud to add
to them right now. But I know they would love

(39:11):
for someone come up from like seven to three or
from whatever it was, someone come up again and we
can draft Ashton Genty a little bit later. They would
love to do it. But you see where the conundrum
lies for them, it's do we really do that? Because
what if we're wrong, then we're compounding the mistake of
Saquon Barker. If we're wrong on on Abdul Carter. Okay,
we're wrong on a guy, then everybody had the second

(39:33):
best defensive player off the board. Okay, we're off, but
you off miss on a running back, especially this was
such a high profile record of you let talent leave
the building. If you're wrong on him, that's it's doubly
bad a mistake. Then if you're wrong on Abdul Carter.
So I know the Giants they would love to wheel
this pick out, but only drop far enough where they'd
be able to get Ashton Genty with their first pick

(39:55):
in the first round. Sure, if it really went south
and they got played, then Hampton's still there for the taking.
He's one of the more interesting players that we watch
as the board unfolds. But for the Giants, look, they
right away they were able to say everybody hated us
for Saquon Barkley when we drafted him second overall, and
then you're mad that we let him go. We only
had to get this guy at number three. Shut up,

(40:17):
we fixed We fixed the blitch, and we're only paying
him his rookie salary.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
No.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
I think you're right, if the price is right, that
they'll trade out of there, because they'd love to be
able to get that sexiness of the pick as opposed
to all right, here's a cornerstone guy. And we've talked
about this a bunch for the last two months, Jason.
I mean why Shoudur Sanders has been such a great
story because it gives us some juice. Right, Travis Hunter

(40:47):
was going to go early, Abdua Carter to go early.
We talk about depth and offensive lineman. We talk about
the fact I was part of a mock draft down
for a Jacksonville station today. I was picked for the Chargers, right, means,
since I'm out here in La I picked. You could
pick for the Chargers because it's sonny, but but I was.
I think it was the sixth edge guy was what

(41:10):
right that? That's that's great. It's great for building a roster.
Not so sexy to go win the press press conference. Hey,
who'd you take? This guy's gonna be a monster. He's
a fire plug on the interior. Yeah, I mean, look,
I love Casey Hampton, Vince will Fork before he was
wearing the you know, the bib overalls and everything when

(41:31):
he went to Houston. Those are great picks Hall of
Fame guys. But selling your fabit that's the guy. Yeah,
you're not winning the back of the fish wrap. That's
the guy, which is why they still want Genty just
had a little bit of a better fit and he
and here's my advice for the Giants. Take him at three.
What is it, Matt? What do you care if you
suck this year? Joe, Shane, you are gonna be and

(41:54):
your kid are out, Brian Dable is out. Everybody sure
the kid doesn't survive it. Hey, Joe, here's a good news.
Shane is gonna be our GM next year. That's great,
except not you, Shane. It's gonna be your son. But
they don't have to spend the extra money on the
name plate because it just says mister Shane, and we're
gonna introduce the new dueling Young Kid gms, and you

(42:15):
and Brick Johnson over in New York with the Jets.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (42:19):
It's gonna be great GMS. That's generation. If you love them,
take them. If you love Ashton Genty, take them, because
if you lose your and you're out anyway, take Ashton
Genty old aol thumb man, go for brokes. So I
always argue, if the team decides they love the quarterback,
we can say it's a bad pick, but if that's
their guy, go get it. Exit out out a Fresco
exit swollen dome. Coming up next, our NFL Draft preview

(42:41):
continues with more bold predictions for what we're gonna see
tomorrow night, Fox
