Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show. It's Steep Sager.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
It for Mike Harmon, and I laughed because you know,
we had a fun moment on the show a few
minutes ago where where uh justin Frosberg, our producer, was
a little upset with the Sager because you know, the
Dodgers were losing and Padres are winning and Froze.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Come on, don't shoot the messengers.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Come on, man, get good to score, and Steve says,
I'm on the news desk, I can't do that.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Well.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
While you were doing your update task, Hernandez just hit
a home run. So now the Dodger lead is expanded,
and Frotzburg just yelled out news desk, my ass, I'll
think that.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
Is now four homers given up in three innings for
Tonight's Padres starter Michael King.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
When we play back to highlights, Jason to this game,
we're just gonna use Boomer doing back back, back back.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Gode got it back back, back back, God over the
space needle.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Oh, and he's gonna sound like he does at the
end of the home run derby after he's called like
a thousand home runs.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
He's got no voice left here we are in the.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
Champions setting like he's Elvis in his later years.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
It takes about five minutes, you like me eating really
hot wings, back back back, god walk nearly get it out,
uh seven to three, Dodgers now with the lead over
the Padres Hernandez home run now another blast tonight in
his home run night at Dodgers.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
And taoscar Hernandez, who was higher as the right handed
power replacing JD. Martinez Mets fan tasker. Hernandez has five
home runs already in the season, five in about fifteen
games played.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
You know, and this is a guy, and I'll tell
you just really quick.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
And he kills lefties. It's a great add is.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yes, he's coming off a year last year twenty six
and ninety three.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Right, he's a good hitter. Is he a super.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Starting No, but he's a twenty five and one hundred guy.
And he sat around and oh yeah, oh the Dodge.
We're gonna get rich because we can give him money
for one year because we defraight all the money for Otani.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
Now you're gonna have to give twenty million plus for
the kind of production only one year.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
But yeah, it's gonna cost you.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yeah, this is a guy that I was apout he's
gonna sign somewhere big. Yes, he's he's thirty one, so
in his power numbers have been there pretty consistent for
the last four years. Oh yeah, this guy's going to
get a big deal. No, hey, Dodge's one year here.
It's like it's almost like it's not fair. I mean,
that's the deal he signed, Like really like that. Of
all the deals that I've seen in the offseason, you
can question a lot of them now and how much

(02:59):
you're paying for certain players and what's worked out and
what hasn't. But but the ti Oscar Hernandez thing, the
one year, I mean, this guy's been I mean twenty
five and one hundred. That's that's uh, that's generally more
than what you would than what he got, and I
mean JD. Martinez, I get because the guy doesn't doesn't
know for a DH he only's gonna play in one
hundred and ten games.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Or so back already.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, and he's thirty six, so yeah, I get the
twelve million for him.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
But a guy like I mean, the guy's pretty healthy.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
He's played and he's played in is all the I mean,
there's nothing else you want from the guy's got a
war around two and a half three. I mean, really,
this was like a stunning get for the Dodgers where
it's like, oh, yeah, we got him, And what people
don't realize is that, oh man, he's gonna be huge
in the middlest lineup all season.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
And because they needed a guy to play the corner
outfield spots, they gave Chris Taylor a four year contract
and that ain't working out. This is the advantage of
having a large payroll in other areas. The Dodgers have
just beaten other teams to draft choices and they are
reaping the benefits of Kershaw for years or Will Smith
et cetera. Getting Max Munsey for anybody could have had

(04:01):
him considering what he was doing with the A's in
this case, they paid money to Chris Taylor and they're
not giving him much time because he's not earning it.
They had to spend extra money on a guy who
at Toronto had a season with thirty homers one hundred RBIs.
But Taioscar Hernandez has never hit three hundred for a
full season. Now after this Long Bowl, he is batting

(04:22):
three hundred so far this season.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Well, in the middle of this lineup, he's gonna hit
three fifty. What are you worried about it? He could
make a run at four hundred.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yeah, you got the big four.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
I mean not only the three high pay guys. But
Will Smith, the catcher is batting cleanup this year and
hitting about four hundred to start the season and has
a ten year extension. Max Munths you mentioned homered on
a line drive tonight, And even if he bats two hundred,
he could hit thirty homers in a season. So he
bats fifth, and then behind those five you have Taoscar

(04:50):
Hernandez with power.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
We got Jason Cole coming up in about fifteen minutes
for all the big news in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers
keeps going on Inspiracy Theory podcast. When is he going
to stop.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
It's really not news at this point.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
No, it's not.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's and I'll you know, we'll get into why when
he talks it kind of gets blown off because I
get a theory on that. But we want to talk
about what's going on in the NBA tonight because this
is a fun night of the regular season because so
many things are at stake as far as seeding in
the playoffs in the East, the Knicks and the Bucks.

(05:24):
It's going to come down to the final game of
the season for the number two seed in the East
because the Knicks one tonight, the Bucks got blown out
there playing without RJ.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Barrett had a big game. You must be selling Toronto.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Sorry, Yeah, I'm so used to seeing him have thirty
five point games for the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah no, no, no, See the the RJ. Barrett box scores,
I like have come back, oh four to thirteen. Yeah,
I've seen that box score.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
I've seen that before except for tonight.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
That's uh that that you know, Look, that's part of
the East and it's it's part of the downfall of
the Bucks and what we've seen. But in the West
is where things are getting really interesting because the one
team you want to avoid playing in the Western Conference
in the first round.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Of the Nuggets. As I've said, it's gonna be murder.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
It's gonna be the most difficult first round of the
playoffs in the West you could possibly imagine. But you
want to avoid the Nuggets because when it gets to
the playoffs, comes time the champs, they are the best team,
and you don't want to play them in the first round.
This is a big challenge for the Warriors and the
Lakers because coming into tonight, if you finish ninth and tenth,
guess what, the Nuggets are in first place, and you're

(06:27):
gonna wind up even if you get out of the
play in round, that's great, your prize is gonna be
a series with the Nuggets, and guess what, you're probably
going home. The Lakers win tonight and the Nuggets lose
against the Spurs and Wemby has another huge night. They
lose one twenty one to one twenty.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
So now it's.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Gonna come down to the final game in the season
for first place in the West between three teams, with
the Nuggets and the Tea Wolves and the Oklahoma City
Thunder who suddenly are hot and they could wind up
finishing first. And now you have the Warriors who have
had a horrible second core or against the Pelicans. Is
they try to either move up or stay down. I
don't know where they want.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
They want to score by twenty tonight in the second
more than that at home against New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
They want to avoid the Nuggets. And so where what
do we do?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
The Pelicans are out to a forty five seventeen mark
in the second quarter. Uh, they've scored forty five points
against the wars They lead this by fourteen. Just before
halftime again Pelicans lead the Warriors by fourteen. Now suddenly
the Warriors lose, the Lakers would be ahead of them,
and there will be all kinds of drama going into
Sunday in the NBA for where everything winds up going

(07:35):
you have you really do you have a bottom of
the of the playoffs right now? Where in the Western
Conference teams right now not knowing now how the final
result of night's going to go. Because you remember, know
the Warriors could come back and have a big second, but.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
It is halftime and they are down fourteen.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
But you right now you could have a change in
the sixth spot, the seventh spot, the eighth spot, the
ninth spot in the ten spot, and the first spot,
the second spot in the third spot. That's how crazy
it is is any one of three teams can finish first,
and any one of five teams can finish in sixth
place and avoid the play in or finish in seventh
or eighth place and just have to win one game

(08:14):
to move on in the playoffs. That's the insanity. I mean,
as great as tonight is, Sunday is going to be
even better.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Even better.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Once again no NBA games on Saturday.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Then every team plays on Sunday to end the regular season.
The play in tournament starts on Tuesday. The great news
for Oklahoma City and its chance at the one seed.
There are three teams with identical records now that since
tonight Oklahoma City won its game, Minnesota won its game barely,
and Denver loss so all three of those teams are
fifty six and twenty five. The great news for the

(08:45):
OKC thunder They've beaten Denver three in a row on
their schedule this season. Okse has the tiebreaker and at
the moment is the one seed in the Western Conference
for the moment, with still a game left on Sunday,
the defending champion Denver Nuggets. With this embarrassing loss at
the Spurs tonight, lost by one, Denver slips from the

(09:07):
one down to the three seed at the moment. So
we were talking earlier and a legitimate conversation going into tonight.
Who's going to come out of that play in tournament
next week and get the eight seed and get stuck
with playing the defending champion Nuggets first round.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
It might be whoever, like.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
New Orleans is a sixth seed, get stuck with three
seed Denver first round.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Something of the Pelicans like, wait a minute, we got
to throw this game. We got a second half, let's
start missing shots because this is just crazy.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
The Pelicans will clinch a playoff spot.

Speaker 5 (09:38):
Tonight with a win in their game, and they're winning
at Golden State and a Sun's Law. Phoenix has one
of the late games. Phoenix is right now down five
at Sacramento early second quarter.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
So while we have all this going on in the NBA,
I want to tell you this, which is with all
the drama getting set for the playoffs and everything else,
that we have this week college basket ball crowning a
champion and how we finally have the head coach Raddy Kentucky.
I'll give you a big NFL Bowl prediction. Well, we'll
lock into Jason Cole about.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
This, Steve O.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I'm gonna tell you we are less than a week
away from a big first round trade where somebody jumps
into the top five for a quarterback. We are less
than a week away from someone some quarterback needing.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
Way in advance. We got two weeks till the draft.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Because you need something, because somebody's got to say, Okay,
there's a lot of quarterbacks out there. What kind of
game do we want to play? How long do we
want to wait? Someone's gonna make that move saying okay,
we feel good now that we moved up to five
or whatever spot it is, and we're going to get
a quarterback that we really like.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Like, we feel good about that.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
So because someone's got to you have so many quarterback
needy teams, right, you have quarterbacks are gonna go one, two, three.
Most likely Arizona's sitting at four and the Charger's sitting
at five, right, most likely they're not taking quarterbacks. That's
where someone's gonna jump to. The Giants are taking a
quarterback at six, you know they're likely doing that. Then
you have the other teams that are that are quarterback,

(11:04):
that are okay at quarterback, but sitting there right in
that sweet spot at eleven, twelve and thirteen, Vikings, Broncos, Raiders,
all who need long term things at quarterback, all who
won't have to give up so so much to move
up from eleven twelve or thirteen to five. Let's just say,
and let's use five as an example, because the Charges

(11:26):
with Justin Herbert are not taking a quarterbacks. Let's let's
say that's the sweet spot there. Someone's gonna move up
there into that area for a quarterback. And I'm looking
at those eleven, twelve and thirteen teams. But I also
wouldn't doubt if a team like the Giants wanted to
cement something and they did a flip flop with the
Patriots at three or with the Commanders at two, or
maybe not commanders.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
They want to deal with the division.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
But I wouldn't surprise to see, Hey, the Giants have
now jumped up to third, and the Patriots got another
first round pick and something else, and they're more than
happy getting whoever they wanted.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Six.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
So something like that is going to happen, and we're
going to see that in the next week, because someone's
got to be first, and someone's got to be a
team to say, no matter what, we're going to be
left with a chair. We're left with a chair. In
the Great Quarterback go Get of twenty twenty four, where
there's five guys, everybody wants that if they all come
off the board the first three, how tough is it

(12:17):
going to be to get one of the guys that
we really like, we feel good about where we are
moving up into that top five? Ish telling you lessen
a week away from somebody making a trade.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
Well, if they are left with a chair, it would
be appropriate because some of these first rounders have been
so bad in recent years. They get bench, they will
need the chair, so save it for a couple of
years from now. But remember Mike Harmon's Bears are only
drafting number one overall because they made the trade with
Carolina and got the Panthers pick, thank you very much.
So now the Bears can draft a quarterback number one overall.

(12:46):
We're assuming Washington will draft a quarterback number two overall,
and then that leaves the Patriots for a quarterback number
three overall Minnesota has been acquiring, and are they gonna
move draft capital to go into the force to get
let's say, a big tang quarterback. I think that would
be an incredible reach. But okay, I could see Minnesota

(13:06):
somewhere in the first round getting a quarterback. If this happens,
that we actually see four quarterbacks in the top four
slots in a couple of weeks, that means the Chargers
at number five have their pick of any receiver or
any offensive tackle, which are two massive areas of need.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
They'd be sitting pretty see.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
But what you're missing is that they're going to trade
Justin Herbert to move up to number one to get
JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
That's what Jim Harbaugh is gonna do. Hey, hey, hey, don't.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Forget about kayleb. But no, no, we want the number
one pick. Oh you want Kaleb, but no, we want
JJ McCarthy. Oh sure, yeah, we'll take Justin Herbert.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
No, and then we all burn our charge or jerseys
at fag.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
Jason's not smart enough to what to know what Harbaugh's
really doing with the JJ McCarthy love. You'll find out
on the twenty fifth, though.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Frostburg thinks he's trying to get JJ McCarthy to an
AFC West rival because he stinks.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Till I came up.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
I'm all with the part.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
That he stinks because I've told many times the guy's
really overrated. And congratulations everybody else, by the way, jumped
on that.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
It would not surprise me if the Chargers do not
go wide receiver in the number five slot in the
first round, because they are so not just Harball his assistance,
the people he has around him on his new staff.
They are so in on being physical and establishing the
running game and doing something to balance the good quarterback
you already had and take advantage of those years where

(14:25):
you have a young quarterback. They could trade down and
get a tackle. They could take a tackle at number five.
There are a lot of options for the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
It's gonna be fun to watch Herbert throw the ball
nineteen times a game next year.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
Why win's improvement? Did you see them last year? Last
two years with that running game?

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Jason Smith Steve Desager in for Mike Harmon coming up next.
Jason colestops by NFL Insider, see what he thinks about
teams moving up for a trade.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
We have Jason locking.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Four on this week, he said there could be four
trades in the top sixteen. It is getting to be
that time. Keep it right here next Jason and Mike
Steven for Mike. This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
Live from the Tyraq dot Com studios and for Mike
Harmon tonight's special delivery Steve de Sager, we'll have more
on what's going on. The big high drama in the
NBA is we're playing slots with all the slots of
the Western Conference. But joining us now on the hotline

(16:39):
to break down all the big news as we are
now starting to zero win in countdown to the NFL Draft.
There is nobody better than longtime insider Haul of very
good voter. You can fall him on Twitter at Jason
Cole sixty two. It is longtime friend of the show,
Jason Cole Jake, call, what's happening?

Speaker 9 (16:58):
Man?

Speaker 3 (17:02):
You can't Things are wonderful.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
I'm happy the Knicks one tonight, the Mets one tonight,
Aaron Rodgers didn't get hurt. I'm thinking I'm feeling pretty
good right now.

Speaker 9 (17:12):
Yeah, yeah, well the Mets swimming right yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
So hey, So a few minutes ago, Steve and I
were talking about the you know now that we're a
couple of weeks away from the draft, and I said,
we're a week away from somebody making a big move
to get up into the top five of the draft
to get a quarterback. Did you see something like that happening?

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Yes or no? So I'm making a trade to get
into the top five to draft a quarterback.

Speaker 9 (17:38):
I always think this will be the year that teams
see through the fact that they don't have to be
that desperate to wait for a quarterback. And I'm almost
always wrong about that. It's like San Francisco trading up
to get Trey Lance a few years ago, Like you

(17:59):
didn't need to You didn't need to do that right
just or you know, whatever you wanted to do at quarterback,
you didn't need to make that move to get a
quarterback that year, you could let the quarterbacks fall to you.
So maybe somebody's going to buy into JJ McCarthy is awesome,

(18:20):
or you know, Drake May is worth going up to get.
But I just get the feeling that you're going to
have number one and two and then everybody's going to
let the quarterbacks come to them, and that's what But
maybe that's just me convincing my thinking. That's what I
would do is if they if I were in their shoes,
because that's a whole lot better. Like I know that

(18:43):
New England didn't pick the right guy when they got
back Jones, but they played it right to at least
let mac Jones fall to them and then make the choice,
like they didn't compound the error by trading up a
bunch of stuff to give it up. So you're probably
right the god I think you know, like, don't do it,

(19:06):
Just don't do it.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
So two things you're saying, it's no guarantee in the
least that we're going to get quarterbacks one, two, three
in the first round of the draft in a couple
of weeks, and what becomes by Cardinals I.

Speaker 9 (19:19):
Got, you know, I got. I got to think that,
you know, people are going to believe that it's you know,
they're trying to convince everybody that it's going to be one, two, three, four,
five sixty seven, right Like, that's that's what gms are
selling out there, right Like, you've got to get up
here to get you know, give me three number ones
for the number four picks. You know, that's what Arizona's
trying to do, right give me, yeah, give me three

(19:42):
number ones, because we know you have to get up
here to get J. J. McCarthy. You have to do
something to get the chance to get Drake May where
I would just sit there and go, you know what
if somebody wants to do that, great, But I'm not
going to be the sucker for that, because I'll let
the guys, you know, Florida. I mean again, I'm convinced
of Chicago and Washington. Yeah, there's no doubt they're taking quarterbacks,

(20:05):
right But once you get to number three, as much
as New England needs to take a quarterback, I don't
know if they believe that any of those guys are
good enough to take a quarterback at that spot. And
I think that the you know, the chance to get
Marvin Harrison is pretty damn tempting there, And that's where
I would just start to say, I don't need to

(20:27):
start making that move to get that high. I really don't.
Just I will let this come to me, you know,
like if I'm the New York Giants, even if if
if they somehow think they got a trade for and
get a quarterback, like, let the guy fall to them
and see to see what happens. And if it doesn't

(20:47):
work out, okay, you got to play it out with
Daniel Jones and that kind of sucks, but at least
you didn't overpay to get a guy you know, and
buy and buy into the hype. Just I hope that's
what it is. But you're probably right that somebody is
gonna do some kind of desperate move and move up.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
You know who hates you right now? After listening to
you say that.

Speaker 9 (21:10):
Who hates me? Lots of people hate me? Like that's
a long line. Oh no, no, why would I Why
would you make me guess on something like that? Why
why would we play out that way? Like it's just
too big a list of people?

Speaker 1 (21:24):
No, you know who hates you right now is Dave gettleman,
because you should have told him that three years ago.

Speaker 9 (21:32):
No. Look, Dave is such a good soul. But man,
just why I can't Why why Daniel.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
See what I'm going to do. What I'm gonna do, Jay,
I'm gonna do the smart thing. After hearing what Tom
Brady said yesterday, I'm just gonna wait and then I'll
get Brady sometime in late November early December when when
he because he can't give it up and he wants
to come back at I'll call and we'll come back
and play quarterback for my dream.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
I'll be good.

Speaker 9 (21:58):
Tom's got to get a life, man, does it stop? Man,
Come on, Tom, go find a hobby, Go do something.
You know, you know, it's time. It's enough, it's enough, Tom,
Let go, just let it go. Tom.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
He's like, he's like he is like Jordan. He can't
let that competition go. I mean, this is good the
third time. Hey, I'll come back. He's telling everybody, if
you're good at the end of the year and your
quarterback's hurt, call me, I'll come play.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
So apparently Fox is the hobby right.

Speaker 9 (22:31):
But a year ago, a year ago, he was doing
when he was contemplating what he was going to do.
At the end of his time in Tampa, he's you know,
he's talking to his dad and he's telling his dad,
you know, I just can't go anywhere else because it
takes so long to build, you know, to build the
whole teamwork element of it, in the cohesion and this

(22:54):
and that, and now it's just like he's Jones and
so hard for it. It's like he's letting go of
his own principles, all the things that he believes are
really really necessary. Never mind that not a big deal anymore.
I don't care. Just just sign me up so that
I don't I don't have to go do Fox. Yeah,

(23:15):
sign me up so I don't have to do so
I don't have to do TV. I just don't want
to do TV. And I said, and they're going, hey,
when are we going to get any repayment on the
court on the contract? When does that happen?

Speaker 3 (23:28):
What do they paid him yet? He hasn't done a
game yet.

Speaker 9 (23:30):
No, yes, I mean they're not paying him yet. But
you know, like, when when do we get something in
return for negotiating that, like lifetime deal? And it's like,
come on, Tom, do something else, something get a hobby,
just you know, like, please get a hobby, like just
snorkling off off the keys, do something, you know, can

(23:53):
you just do that just you know, like stop stop
bothering us all with like you want so desperate that
you want to play. Although that said, I would be
I would buy I would buy a ticket to go
watch him play. And I don't buy tickets to very
many things. I got to say that that's one of
the keith to being a sports writer is to get
in free, you know, like that's really important. But I

(24:15):
would actually buy a ticket to see Tom play. I
would break down and do that if he came back.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
Paddleball is what he needs and a little avocado ice
cream in between sets or whatever they play.

Speaker 9 (24:25):
I'm well in South Florida. Paddle ball in South Florida
big thing.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Very plays paddle It's pickleball retired people.

Speaker 9 (24:33):
Do have you ever met French Canadians in South Florida?
Have you ever met them?

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Like they dude, they are bulldozing elementary schools to put
up pickleball courts all over.

Speaker 9 (24:48):
But I'm just saying that's like, there's this old group
of paddleballers that love their paddle ball I've met them.
I look, I lived, you know, across the hall from
Missus Moskowitz. She loves her paddle ball. It was it
was true. She was French Canadian. She come down for
the WIMPs. She loved it.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Well, I'm not going to ask in Aaron Rodgers question
because I have to sleep at night. So you reference
Marvin Harrison Junior.

Speaker 9 (25:13):
Well, what kind of well, no, no, what kind of
drugs do you need to be on to? What to
ask an Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Well, that would be a question the co host. He's
going to come up at some point in tonight's show.
It's just that's a segment.

Speaker 9 (25:27):
Well it's either you know, it's either some kind of
evolution egen or some kind of conspiracy theory. Yeah, like
one of the two. That's that's all that everyone is
doing these days, conspiracy theories and Pahuascar or whatever it
was that he was dying.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
I say, go for ten plays at the start of
this year and then get hurt.

Speaker 9 (25:51):
Don't you get double digits? Can we get the double
digit plays?

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Shoot the moon?

Speaker 5 (25:58):
Anyway, Marvin Harrison June here was oftentimes incredibly impressive. Of
course in college, would you say, at whatever four or
five slot, whatever a non quarterback comes up in this
month's draft.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
Automatically, if you were a GM, you go to him.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
Think of no other wide receiver or tackle that high.

Speaker 9 (26:17):
And there's some other guys you think of. But you know,
like the kid from Washington is really awesome, right, and
I could see that he would end up having a
better career than Harrison. Like there are guys out there
you go, Okay, yeah, I could see this guy being
really good. And you know, but when you say who

(26:41):
has the highest percentage of he's going to reach some
level of stardom and be an impact player for me, like,
I don't have any doubt that Marvin Harrison's going to
be good. He's he's going to have a good, long career.
And you know, burring injury, knock on, we all that

(27:02):
kind of stuff. But that guy knows how to play
and he he he watched his dad and as he'd
learned from his dad, he's done everything. He's going to
be an impact player for whoever he plays for. And
and that's part of this is like Purdace is you're
just betting on is the guy going to be good? Uh?

(27:24):
And I have every belief in my soul that that
guy's going to be a really good player. Is he
going to be the best of all of them? We'll
see how We'll see how it plays out. You know,
who's your quarterback, how good is the team, you know
what's the construct, all those kinds of things. But that
guy's going to be a player, and you just take
them and you go with it. Now.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
See then this is where Kaz even with you guys
by telling you I'm putting out in the universe that
we're going to get to the night before the draft.
We're going to wake up and think it's an onion story,
but we're going to find out that Harball has traded
Herbert to the Bears for the number one overall pick
in the draft.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
A McCarthy and back of the Chargers.

Speaker 9 (28:05):
You want you want? Yeah? J J. McCarthy Herbert for J. J. McCarthy.
And is McCarthy gonna get get an r V and
live on the beach as well?

Speaker 3 (28:16):
Sure? And it will play right, he's.

Speaker 9 (28:18):
Gonna be Is he going to be an extra on
the Rockford Files? On the rock Rockford Files. That's a
great story. By the way, I will farm Sam Farmer
is still my hero. I just love Sam Farmer just
going out there and recreating the Rockford Files thing. That's
just so awesome. That's a that's that's that's truly fantastic.

(28:39):
And then what and and Romans living next to him?
Is that right? He's place next to him or something
like that. That's right, God, that's just that's so special,
that really is. It's just like I just I have
that second my head and it's like, that's so hard, boss.

(29:00):
It's just the perfect Harbors story. Is his wife living
in the RV as well? Or did she stay back?
And now what's what's the deal with this? What's going
on with that? That's what I want to know.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Yeah, I'm waiting.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
I can only realize about one coach and their wife
if they want a new job somewhere. And I'm spending
all week with Danny Hurley and his wife staying or
leaving with Yukon. So I only have time. I only
have so much ram in my head. And that's what
I'm doing this week.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
I'll deal with it.

Speaker 9 (29:24):
That does. But Harvard is so much more important because
you could drive over to the house and and visit
with him and and just you know the house. I
mean the RV. If you drive over there and and
just hang on the beach, you get a what kind
of what kind of beer would you bring to meet
with Harbas?

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Something hell to them, something something that like has like.

Speaker 9 (29:43):
Mike, No, it's gotta be bush. It's got to be
something perhabsolute ribbon. It's you know, absolutely ribbon. You're here,
it's a PBR. It's like a twelve pack of PBR
and you're doing Dennis harp Popper lines with him. You
gotta do that something.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
I will say, PABs blue ribbon.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Maybe believe time travel is possible because I went to
a bar about five or six years ago and they
had this special where they had PBR cans and I said, yeah,
I haven't had one in a while. And I taste
it and I go, oh my god, it's nineteen eighty seven.
This is unbelievable.

Speaker 9 (30:20):
Yes, oh, it's an elixir. It is. It is magical.
PBR is magical. It really is. It's it is sort
of like back to It is like back to the future.
It definitely has that has that effect on you.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
That is at Jason Cole sixty two alongside that of
l it's come on.

Speaker 9 (30:45):
Go buy the twelve back in the head to the
beach job just walking around. God, Jimmy, where are you?
Where are you?

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Don't forget Jason Cole is a Hall of Fame voter.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Just remember he was referring to to Jim Rockford.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Is what you'd be yelling out looking for the PI.

Speaker 9 (31:03):
Both of them.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
He I mean, you got we got to explained to
forget about forget about general We got explained. What's the
generation before Generation X? What is the greatest generation? Like
we can explain to that, Oh, this is what the.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Rock get up to, Generation Q, generation F. I mean
reverse in the alphabet, because you know.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Gen X is like you and I see we think
the whole world revolves around us, you know, so it's
like there's nobody.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
Before us what we're talking about.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
But right now, to find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports, gen X or Steve de Seger,
who has a lot on the gen X Knicks, because
boy the knicks are good.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Have nothing to do with gen X, but boy they're good.
And he's got the rest.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
But it does end with an X.

Speaker 5 (31:43):
No, we'll just move on in the NBA, the regular
season ends on Sunday. No NBA games tomorrow, and then
everybody plays on Sunday, so many games tonight and some
big ones. We have a three way tie for first
in the Western Conference with one game left in the
regular se identical records of fifty six and twenty five.

(32:03):
After Oklahoma City beat up Milwaukee, after Minnesota edged Atlanta
one o nine one oh six, Hawks have lost five straight,
and after somehow Denver lost by a point at San
Antonio one twenty one to one twenty victor wemben Yama.
The Spurs thirty four points seven turnovers in this win.
There are four late games in the NBA. Mid third

(32:24):
quarter at Golden State and the Warriors are still down
double digits to New Orleans. It's seventy nine to sixty six,
Pelicans in the lead. CJ McCollum with twenty points two
minutes left in the third quarter. Rockets lead at Portland
seventy seven sixty eight. The Rockets have done themselves in
already with the way they've played the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
We mentioned it earlier in the show.

Speaker 5 (32:47):
We know the ten teams that are still going to
be playing next week in the Western Conference, including playing
We just don't know the order, but we know teams
like Houston and Utah are out of it. Utah leads
the Clippers at the half sixty one sixty and halftime
at Sacramento, Kings over the Suns fifty four forty five.
The Pelicans tonight can clinch a playoff spot with a

(33:07):
win and a Sun's loss. Both of those things are
happening right now. Lakers survive to win at Memphis one
twenty three to one twenty Lebron James thirty seven points,
Anthony Davis with thirty six, Detroit and Miami with wins,
Cleveland and Boston with victories, and wins for Chicago and Philadelphia.
Philly won at seventh in a row one twenty five,

(33:28):
one to thirteen over Orlando. The Knicks were down at
home to Brooklyn twenty one to five late in the
first quarter, but still beat the Nets one eleven, one
oh seven despite forty one points from Cam Thomas Nick
star Jalen Brunson thirty points, eleven assists, no turnovers. Not
only is the regular season end Sunday, but Tuesdays, when
the play in tournament starts, to the NHL just five games. Tonight,

(33:51):
Carolina was a five to two winner at Saint Louis.
Vegas is in action right now and winning in the
second for to one over Minnesota. The Vegas Goal Knights
we'll clinch the final playoff berth in the West if
they defeat Minnesota in regulation and Saint Louis had to
lose in any fashion. Saint Louis has lost NASCAR's on
FS one again this Sunday from Texas three thirty pm

(34:13):
Eastern time. The Infinity Race is tomorrow on FS one.
As for late night, Major League Baseball, Dodgers are leading
in the six seven to three against the San Diego Padres.
It's the Cardinals seven six leaders at Arizona. Bottom of
the seventh, Mariner's shutting out the Cubs for nothing. In
the top of the seventh, the A's only have two hits,
but they're winning one nothing over the Nationals. In the

(34:35):
bottom of the eighth inning, Mets beat Kansas City six
to one that ended the Royals seven game winning streak.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Back to you, thank you, Steve Oh. Look at the
Mets ending winning streaks well.

Speaker 5 (34:44):
The Masters update Scottie Scheffler in a three way tie
for the Laite.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
There you go, Scott.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
It coming up next.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Yes, we'll answer a really big question about Aaron Rodgers,
the big, A big one came up this week. We
said we needed a break from the guy for a while.
Okay comes back this week, talks about thought.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
His career was over.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Very excited ready for this year, the next couple of
years of the Jets. We'll have a definitive conversation about
something really big with him. Coming up next right here,
Jason Smith, Steve Disager in for Mike Carmen.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
This be sure to catch live editions of The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with Steve Disager in
for Mike Carmon, Live from the Tirack dot Com Studios.
Dodge lead the Padres seven to four, top of the
sixth inning. Meanwhile, in the NBA, you know, like the
way the standings are, just wait, five minutes going to
the fourth quarter, the Pelicans lead the Warriors by thirteen.

(35:45):
This would be a really difficult loss for the Warriors
to absorb.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
And remember everything is at stake.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Each of the spots six through ten in the play
in playoff round can change between now and Sunday. In
the top three spots in the West can change. That's
the biggest game of them all right now. The other
big one Sacramento on top of Phoenix by nine and
a half time. Phoenix can suddenly come back to the
pack as well if they lose that one.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
By the way, for Golden State, Jason, this would put
them as a five hundred record at home this year.
I would never have believed, especially not just with the
talent they've had come through, but the home crowds and
the specifically home success.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
It's astounding.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
And this is even with the Warriors being really really
great in recent weeks. Overall, they could wind up the
ten spot out of ten, being on the road for
a play in and finishing without a winning home record
this year.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
Wow, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Well, isn't Draymond Green has been thrown out of every
home game this season, right, so what's going on?

Speaker 3 (36:48):
At some point?

Speaker 5 (36:49):
I'm sure he will have done something to deserve that,
but no, statistically that is not correct. There were five
early turnovers from Steph Curry, by the way, and they're
really relying on him a lot these days.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
He'll be forty one for forty one, thrown out of
all forty one games so far.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
So we'll have more NBA coming up in a few minutes.
But we mentioned a few.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Minutes ago here with Aaron Rodgers in this week, I said,
a few weeks ago, you know, after everything that came
up with another conspiracy theory podcast and the crazy Sandy
Hook story that came out, it's like, you know.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
What, we need a break from the guy.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
The whole vice president thing with RFK Junior and that
didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
It We just need a break from the guy.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Well, we've had a break and he came back this
week and he made some big headlines by saying how
he he went on a podcast that has I think
like a thousand subscribers, and he talked about how he
thought his career was over when he got hurt with
the Jets, and he's looking forward to coming back.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
He can't wait.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
He's got a new lease on life with football. All
the football stuff is great, but he goes onto the
podcast and he talks about more conspiracy theory things. A
couple of things he's intimating is that potentially Hillary Clinton
may have had something to do with John F. Kennedy
Junior's death. You had the plane crash, and that maybe
Joe Biden's resident. Maybe he's not like maybe it's Biden.

(38:02):
Maybe like he's intimating if it's supposedly Joe Biden. And
you know, people, when I talk to people about Rogers,
my friends, whatever it is, we want to know how
we talk about him on the show, they go, what
do you do when you talk about his conspiracy theories?
And I said, you know, quite honestly, nobody talks about them.
We don't and and it's and it's and it's not
you shouldn't have given them. No, well, well there's number

(38:24):
one thing is yes, you don't want to give it.
But why is it ignored? Is and and this is
what I honestly think. None of us have the time
or desire to wade into stuff like that because so
much of it is just insane, and it's stuff we've
heard regurgitated. And I think when I say us, I
mean as sports talk radio hosts. You know, we if
we don't have patience for something, we're gonna say, you

(38:45):
know what, there's better things to talk about than this,
And there you know, this is just this is what
the guy thinks or he wants people to think this way,
and you know what, it's just too much and it's
just so mentally daunting to try to say, Okay, do
I really want to get in the conversation about about
what about who the president really is?

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Really?

Speaker 1 (39:05):
You think that, you really think that all the other
conspiracy theory things that are out there, It's just it's
just there's no win And I mean, there is better
things to talk about, and quite not.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
A few years ago.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
When politics and sports mixed a lot, you know, there
was a big run of a few years where hey
we had a lot of politics and sports headlines and yeah, okay,
when politics got into sports, we talked about it a lot.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
But I noticed over the years.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
It's like, no, people don't like politics mixed into sports
at all. They want sports as a break from politics
and any any political topic that comes up, it's a
big tune off. It's like I didn't tune in to
hear about this. I really don't want to hear about
whether Hillary Clinton may or may not have had something
to do.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Yeah, some of this isn't even politics.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
I mean, you're talking about people that aren't running for
anything this year. It's not you know, every I didn't
think this was possible. Every time he opens his mouth,
I like him less. And that's that's really saying something.
He's always had to be the smartest guy in the room.
And this is the problem with conspiracy theories in general,
is that people are so passionate about it that it's

(40:10):
kind of like Arnie's picks on the weekends of games,
where if he gets one right out of fifty two
picks in a given year, he thinks he's the guy
that does the picks at the network.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
And you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (40:22):
It's like if you get one conspiracies here out of
fifty two, that, oh, that'll keep you going. Well, that
means you're wrong fifty one times. In the old ancient
days you would have been stoned to death by now.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Wow, I'm sorry. You really didn't want to be a
picker of sports back.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
In the snow?

Speaker 4 (40:38):
No, you are not a prophet?

Speaker 3 (40:40):
What am I taking here?

Speaker 1 (40:41):
In the Greek colisey and picked the lions, Always picked
the lions, the lions.

Speaker 4 (40:46):
Because they're not the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
You pick the lions every time, all the Lions won't
lose trust.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
They had home dirt advantage very much. So you hear
the hot light hits differently.
