Speaker 1 (00:00):
Greetings, welcome in hour two of the program that night
to Jason Smith Show with Me Mike Carmen live thematire
rac dot com Studios having a blast of you watching
a little bit of glorious Thursday night football. Smith couldn't
get back to the microphone because he was lamenting the
fact that Prime Time pick it just throw a touchdown
(00:22):
pass to give the Steelers the lead?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Why do you open up when you talk first to
the hour and you sound like you're doing a WWE
time inside.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Come out in if you will stay awhile here live
alongside my tag team partner Guerrilla Monsoon.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
I had to fix the coffee machine because I mean,
you well here, well, what do you mean? I I
shirt helped me. Something was wrong with the coffee machine
before I got there, and I asked Alex says, okay,
how do I do this? And we you know, we
showed me how to do it.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
And then I ended up. I realized there was another
coffee packet stuck. Oh why.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I make sure that got out and I made sure
that it worked because I didn't want anybody to come
up and use it and it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Usable.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I make sure everything is good and I've made my
drinking now I'm good to go. I haven't had any
coffee yet today. Man, well I could feel it.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
You look at a little field, a little bit, a
little sluggish, a little bit a little bit. I didn't
have a bunch of caffeine over at the gatherings. Oh ye,
had a bunch of diet a bunch of diet cokes.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
And for Johnny Ramos, who has been with us here
at Fox Sports Radio for the last fourteen years.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Psychologically it's it's just a different, a new world order.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah, who worked here and and ran the sound and
engineered so many shows during the day. Were all, you know,
big goodbye party for him. I drank a lot of
diet coke, but uh, you know, sometimes he had a coffee,
made a coffee that is quiet.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
He wants a coffee. I don't know anything about needing
extra coffee. Still wondering where my sponsorship is. I mean,
I'm wearing and basically it's an IV attached to me.
Just put the label on there.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
I was also very excited because Deontay Johnson scored the
go ahead touchdown for the Steelers because starting him in
a couple of Dynasty Fantasy leagues on a Thursday night.
You always like to see your guys putting up crooked
numbers and Deontay Johnson getting the extra seven points because
Jalen Warren, not his fault, tried to stay in bounds
on a big twenty yard run, stepped out of bounds
(02:19):
just shy of the one. The Steelers couldn't punch it in,
so they threw it and Deontay Johnson showing that there
was nothing wrong with that area of the field, he
was able to get both his feet down in bounds
unlike George Pickens earlier in the game, and he gets
in for the touchdown. So now it is a Steelers
lead with about four minutes left to go. But Will
Levis he of the guns, because you know Will Levis
(02:42):
loves showing off those guns.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Wouldn't you if you had him? Oh, sure of course
I will. Juweye you don't have sles on him, and
you don't.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
I wouldn't wear a shirt. Well, I got good triceps,
but I wouldn't wear shirts if I was Will Levis.
He's got four minutes to get the Titans down the
field to potentially win this game. They do have the
ball near mid so there is plenty of time and
good field position for the Titans. Yeah, we watched the
clock dwindle quickly from the end of the third to
where we're at now. I mean, long sustained drives and look,
(03:11):
you're not expecting giant explosive plays from the Steelers, but
good drive find the end zone as opposed to settling
for another field goal, and the over under is now
being threatened. It was thirty seven.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, thirty seven, ye shut up. Yeah, so we're at
thirty six. So here we are, and Will Levis a
hero last week wearing the great throwback units. Today he
was wearing that beautiful Letterman code on the way in.
Not David Letterman in Worldwide pants, but the Letterman like
you're a senior in high school like he was in
(03:44):
the former dou Wop group. The Letterman. That's pretty good too. Yeah, no,
we could do that too, but now it can you
solve the Steeler defense one more time because they just
showed some graphics on the Prime telecast of the amount
of pressure Heismith. He's three rushes, he's got eight pressures,
and then show him burying Levis time after time.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Wow, we'll have more on this thing coming up in
a few minutes. We're live from the tirec dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Tirec dot com.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
I'll help you get there, an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road has protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers.
Tirack dot com the way tire buying should be. So
while the end of this game plays out, and again,
we'll love more on this coming up in a few minutes,
Titans are now over Midfield. The odds for next year's
World Series have come out. The Rangers win last night.
(04:33):
It's a big thing.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
The next day we find out what the odds are
of teams to get to the World Series. The overwhelming
favorite are the Braves at thirteen to two. But let
me give you some thrill. I'm gonna give you three
long shots. Okay, I'm gonna give you down here already. Okay,
twenty to one, forty to one, and sixty to one
for the World Series.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Okay, all right, I'm gonna give you.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Twenty to one a long shot, I've be a forty
to one long shot, and a sixty to one long shot.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Let's go all right now.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
And none of them are the Mets, and none of
them are the Mets, because you know, I could pick
the Mets, but yeah, they're gonna win the World for
twenty five to one right now? Uh, twenty to one,
twenty to one, And I know it's weird and boy this,
boy this, you can't go. Well, this city is not
going to be happy when I do this. But yeah,
give me the Mariners for the World Series next year
(05:23):
at twenty to one. I may have been a year
early on the Mariners, right. Paul Sewald had a big
quote before the series about how the players were frustrated
a little bit last year coming off of the season,
the beginning of the year, and that maybe this was
(05:45):
a situation where they were upset. Not a lot of
changes were made to the team. They didn't get what
they needed the beginning of the year, so maybe they
started out slow because of it.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Okay, I'll give a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Their and I get that every year in the offseason,
nobody is a big fan of Jerry Depoto the GM
because you know, it's big. We try to win fifty
four percent of our games. I mean that that's insane.
But just bring just bring in, I know, just bring
in all they gotta do. Bring in a couple of
battle tested vets to lead, that's what you need. This
team has a lot of young talent there. Pitching staff
(06:16):
is great, it's going to be great again next year.
But they just need a little bit of that leadership
so things don't fall off.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
And that came up a couple of times from a
few guys down in September, there were some back and
forth between the front office and players who started to
speak freely on the season that was and wait, wait,
why are we talking out of school? Not that they weren't.
Everything they were saying wasn't true, because they're basically echoing
(06:43):
what you're saying here is that there wasn't anybody to
steady the ship. Because remember they had that ridiculous run
where Julio Rodriguez. For a month, everything was going up
there like it was a beach ball, slow pitch softball
served underhand, and he's hammering everything. And then just like that,
when he slowed down, nobody else was ready to step up,
(07:05):
and that offense dwindled, and before you knew it, they
were sinking right back out of it.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
So give me a couple of battle tested vets there
that can come in, and I'll take the manager of
twenty to one. You also have an outside shot at
the sweepstake.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Sure, absolutely, absolutely, because that's not because that's the thing
that's swirling in the background some of these teams is
you might get that scratch your lottery too. But this
is where I get to that because at forty to one,
give me the Giants, right, they had a good year
last year and they fell apart near the end, but
they were in it for a long time. They're the
real I want to say, I would say they're the
(07:40):
dark horse favorites for Otani because we think the Dodgers. Yes,
if the Mets want to get involved, these are your teams, right,
but it's the Dodgers and him and Mookie Bets shaking hands.
But if you want to talk about a dark horse, everybody, anybody,
that's something right now that a lot of people are mad.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
And are the Dodgers really going to spend money on
Otani or they're gonna go get starting pitching, because that's
really where the Dodgers need to go. But give me
the Giant because they're the dark horse favorites for Otani
because it's on the West coast where he would be
comfortable they were pretty good already this year. They fell
apart near the ends and need a couple of adjustments,
but that could be that lottery ticket team for Otani
(08:18):
as the Giants. So at forty to one, I like
San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Yeah, they're a curiosity, no question. Obviously a change in
manager forthcoming and we'll see how that shakes out, as
well as roster management as a whole. I mean, how
much do they come back with the squad that you have.
Your leader in terms of power numbers was your guy
Wilmer Flores with twenty three home runs, So can you
(08:44):
shuffle that because while you don't need to be three
outcome players, you're looking to perhaps be a little more
of a threat, particularly after you saw what the Rangers
did to the Diamondbacks, right, So you need that squad
maybe gets you through the one sixty two in the
in the West, but come playoff time, you need more
(09:05):
guys that are a threat in the lineup, and I
don't think they've had that, so you know Atani certainly
serves that purpose. So curiosity, yeah, I think San Francisco
is an interesting proposition.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Now the sixty to one and I can't believe they're
actually sixty to one because this team actually has a
lot of pitching. Their best pitchers were hurt all year,
and they brought up a bunch of young pitchers who
didn't do badly. They stayed in the race all the
way up until the last couple of weeks. Shockingly, they
play in a really bad division. Give me the Cleveland
(09:37):
Guardians for next year with all the pitching they have.
Finally tie shirt and shirt. You really just did that
for ty shirt. I think right, Look, they're gonna have
a new manager, obviously, a new energy is going to
be in there, and they're gonna have they have the
young starting pitching that came in this year, they have
the starting pitching that was injured coming back. And it's
a bad division, right They were in it with the
(09:58):
Twins up until right after the deadlines, Like, hey, make
a couple of moves, they can stay there. The Guardians
were pretty so if you're looking for a team there
the real long shot, give me the Guardians at sixty
to one.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
I like the cut of your jib getting a little
bit crafty there. The big thing is, you know the
last two teams, as you mentioned them, I'm sitting there
thinking trying to go through their starting rotations and what
they had. You know, both teams only had one guy
win more than ten years. Yeah, I mean that that's
where we're at in this day and age in Major
League Baseball, which is why you weren't here, but sitting
(10:32):
there with Kerry Rose and I'm just reveling in the
fact I got two starting pitchers that have worked into
the six. Yeah, I was gonna cry, all right if
Ali was a struggle and he had to make big
pitches to get out and the other wasn't no hitter
at their six. I'm just sitting there and I'm like,
my head was like Scanners. It was appropriate that we
were sitting around here, you know, in the Halloween spirit,
(10:52):
because it was just that curious. And now we're looking
at these teams going, are you gonna go out and
get some more pitching or you deciding it doesn't matter
because philosophical, I think we're at that point in Major
League Baseball of where you're spending your money, right, you
want the Dodgers to go and spend on pitching, and
I think a lot of people do too, given the
way the season ended, and you're sitting there going well,
these other teams were competitive down to the stretch with
(11:15):
a bunch of jags. Yeah, yeah, but they were trotting.
Doesn't matter, right, there's and so like trying to figure
out where that balance is. Yeah, because if you can
get hot in September, there you are. You're you're playing
for it all. And then it's just a matter of
being a puppet master with moving back and forth between
your starter that gives you three innings and a parade
of relievers.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
You just gotta be one game over five hundred every month.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
It's all. You gotta do.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
One game over April, May, June, July, August, September, and
there you are. Youre in the playoffs. I think it's
a good strategy all you need.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
But there you go.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Twenty to one Seattle, I'm sorry, I know, I'm sorry,
forty to one the Giants, sixty to one Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
I saw people try to hype the White Sox. I'm like,
why do you keep doing that? People? Just like part
of it is like you going back to the well
with Seattle. It's like trying to make up for some
wrongs you know that your ancestors did to the city
of Seattle and its people like go I'm gonna keep
picking them because I got I gotta break the curse
and then I'll be seen as a hero for day
(12:13):
with them exit.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
How about a Fresca exit swollen down The Jason Smiths
Or with Mike Harmon live from the Tireck dot Com Studios.
We're in the final stretch to get tickets to horse
racing's biggest moment of the year, World's Best, headed to
sant Anita for the Breeders' Cup World Championships on November

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Jason, Yeah, Mannie what he.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Jason? I can see a young U big frog just
on the woods shrewman out to the song.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Now see this and you know what, it's funny. This
was like my first introduction to Fleetwood Mac like reality. Well,
because you know, I didn't listen to Fleetwood Mac in
the early seventies because I was a kid like with
tusk and rumors. Okay, no, I had like gypsy and
tell me Lies and Little Lies and and that's my
first Oh Fleetwood Mac. And my mom said, well, you
(13:13):
got to listen to their other stuff, listen to my records,
and she gave me was like almost famous. She gave
me her Fleetwood Mac records and I listened to rumors
over and over. I listened to Tusk because I loved
She was like, can you play a different song besides Tusk?
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Because I would play it all the time and you
were a kid, and I just love Tusk. The the
band I love so much, the Afghan Wigs. At some
point they appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and that was
their outro for a song. They they were always really
good and they are still live, very deaf in grabbing
(13:50):
like prints and other influences and and for that particular performance,
it did win. Very slowed down.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Really, there are forty nine ticks left to go in
Thursday Night Football and the Steelers are trying to hold on.

The more upset Mike Vrabel looks on the sideline, the
worst things are for the Titans. They have the ball
near midfield with forty four seconds left to go. The
Steelers up twenty to sixteen. It's been a big night
for Deontay Johnson has seven catches, ninety yards and a touchdown.
(14:48):
Big night for Jalen Warren eighty seven yards rushing. It
looks like he's taking over as the feature ish back
with the Pittsburgh Steelers. But as we say, this will
as complete a pass to more for about thirty yards.
They now have the ball in Steeler territory with about
twenty six seconds left to go. They got the ball
(15:09):
in the Steeler thirty six yard line. They need seven obviously,
but they're gonna get at least somewhat of a chance
at the end zone here where things look pretty dire
for a while. But somebody I think fell asleep and
coverage on the on the Steelers because he was able
to just drop this ball in the middle of the field.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yeah, finding chunk yardage. And again, I mean he's got
so much confidence standing in there. Been under duress all night.
Obviously we've seen some craziness. Watt's helmets come off a
couple of times. High Smith getting pressures time and time again,
but stands tall in the pocket, delivers a beautiful pass
time and time again, taking his shots down the sideline
(15:46):
with Hopkins Berks before the injury. And then you know,
keep finding a lot of space in the middle of
the field, take the chunk yardage as long as you
know you can run your two minute drill and get
yourself up to the line of scrimmage. Kill the clock,
keep moving.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Yeah, Levis has no fear like That's what you like
to see in a quarterback taking over. We don't need
to worry about keeping the playbook down or worrying about
taking shots downfield. He has You could tell just the
way his body language is. I can throw the football
anywhere I want to. Well, there was a stat that
I saw earlier today in prep for this game tonight.
(16:23):
Last week he completed three throws of thirty air yards.
Ryan Tannehill hadn't completed one of thirty air yards since
the middle of twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
I think that was the last time Deontae Johnson got
a touchdown. I think that was. No, that's right, he
was twenty twenty one at some point. Yeah, so he
finds the end zone. So yeah, we just all sorts
of stuff coming together.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Look, Levis looks like the real thing watching him tonight.
Being able to throw, being able to make the throw
in any situation he wants to. He's not afraid throwing
the ball, the tight coverage, he has the arm to
do it. He's got a little bit of that Garoppolo,
you know, the good part of Garoppolo. Sorry, happy birthday,
Jimmy Garoppolo, Yes you're on the bench. How about happy birthday?
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Uh b, it was a nice tweet. Blow the candles
out on that cake, Jimmy. G Here's second straight.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
But he has a little bit of that Levice where
I can change my arm angle and just kind of
move my hips a little bit. Except he has even
a bigger arm than Garoppolo does, and he's able to
get He's just all armed up and bam, I can
just get this ball under the door, under the defensive tackles.
Arm I can put it over it if I want to.
I mean, there's nowhere he can't go with the football,
(17:33):
and through two games. I'm telling you, man, I am
really impressed with how he's jumped in and it makes
you think, why did it take him so long? But
I'm really but hey, they got him in now and
they have a chance to win this game. They're about
twenty yards from the end zone with about ten seconds
left to go, and he's been all you could expect
so far for the time.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Yeah. I think the other part of it that flows
in is there were a lot of rumors before the
trade deadline, right we started photo shopping Dereck Henry into
a bunch of different uniforms. DeAndre Hopkins. Perhaps, hey, he's
gonna be on the move. Teams desperate for some wide
receiver help. Maybe they looked at him, and as we
praise him, he is intercepted in the end.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
So we cursed Will Levis. I'm sorry, Ty, we can't
go to Tennessee anymore. There, we cannot go to Tennessee anymore.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
No, that's okay. I think they're okay with it.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Levis tried the last two plays looked to be He
tried to make the same throw on second down and
ten from the nineteen yard line. He threw the ball
over the middle of the field and it should have
been picked off by one of Pittsburgh's linebackers, and it
was a bad throw. It was into traffic and he
didn't see the linebacker. But it wasn't made. So they
(18:40):
had another chance with eleven seconds to go, and I
feel like it was the same play. Levis tries to
make the same throw, except this time it's picked off.
He throws into triple coverage and it's a bad decision.
I know there's other places to go with the football,
but he throws into triple coverage at the end zone. Look,
Steelers were playing the coverage back because you don't know
(19:02):
that they could have really gotten another play that landed
outside of the of the end zone. So they were
playing a little bit there. That's something he's gonna get
a little bit more seasoning, where Hey, when they're playing
their rolling their coverages back, you got to realize these
guys are all gonna be at the goal line.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
You gotta wait, be a little bit patient, make a
better throat. I just think, you know, to finish, the
thought was that they know what they've got here, and
think they got someone who can be pretty special. Ergo
second half of the season, maybe with a little luck,
maybe with that one or two big plays because he
is willing to put the ball down the field that
(19:38):
you're able to get over the top and maybe get
Yoursef back into playoff contention. Unfortunately, you lose a close
one on the road tonight.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
So twenty to sixteen the Steelers win it. Joining us
now in the hot line Nobody Better NFL on Fox
Inside or Extraordinaire host of the Unbreakable Podcast, It is
Jay Glazer.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Jay, what's happening?
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Buddy's gon?
Speaker 1 (20:00):
I'll tell you, man, we were just talking about Will Levis.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I know those last couple of passes weren't great, but
what I've seen from the first two weeks he's the
real thing.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Jay.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Well, look, it is going to get that mess. They
were just bringing it. So, yeah, if you're like, go
either way, you can get a little shell shocked from
something like that, you can go okay from here. It's
going to be kind of Rosie going on up.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yeah. I was gonna say, you're not finding a much
better tandem coming at you than Watton Heismith.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Oh Man, they were and they were just bringing it.
You know, he's just you know, obviously running for his
life all night here. But hey, welcome to the NFL.
Y all are sometimes now.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
For the Steelers, I feel like this is every week
the Steelers don't look good, they escape, everybody is mad,
but they win.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
Like like, that's the start. That's a Steeler story line
every week.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Jay, That's that's my Tomblin team, right. And he's never
had a losing season, so it's just like but also
that's how good he is. It's it's all those you know,
adjustments you make in game after halftime, and man, nobody
doesn't like him.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Yeah, there was just an interesting exchange earlier this week
obviously Matt Canada down on the sideline instead of up
in the booth. And earlier this week at a presser,
a phone dropping, He's like, I didn't touch it. I
didn't touch it. You're gonna blame me, Like, I don't
know if he was a shell shocked or if he
was just trying to be funny there. Jay, I think
there's a weird space he's in right now.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Yeah. I mean, look, obviously, you know people are you know,
don't matter who you are, players coach wherever you get
on a nune to it to at all and you
hear all the you know, the hate that's going on.
I was talking to coach the other day and I
said to him, he said, you know, we don't listen
to the to the noise and we keep it in
the house. And say, hey man, those days are over.
You may say, you know, we keep it in the
(21:46):
house and we don't listen to the noise, but that's
not the truth. Man. Everybody hear stuff. Your family hears it.
You hear it on Twitter and faith forget Instagram. Whatever
it is like those days of you just thinking that
we're in this cocoon, those days are over and you
got realized that and it was it was a head.
Coach is like, hey, you're right. I didn't think about that.
He goes, because I'm not on social media. I didn't realize.
(22:10):
You know, I'm I'm able to keep myself in this tunnel.
But you're right, just because I can, does me and
everybody else does. I said, dude, even if your players do,
their family doesn't. And there you know what I mean,
everyone's kind of kind of close.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Coaches like this were under fire Jay wh when you
look at this week. Obviously we saw coaches under fire.
We saw the big change with the Raiders. It was
just a few weeks ago Mark Davis said, hey, guys,
trust me on Josh McDaniels. A couple weeks later, Josh
McDaniels is gone. Can you make sense of the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Yeah, there's a total Traders move. Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Well, that's it. That sounds about beautiful, true, just say Raiders, Raiders,
A Raider's not like we're shocked. Well, I was shocked
that he dismissed him. Now I figured the end of
the year, in season. Now it's talking about don't people
learn at some point somebody somewhere. But I mean, but
(23:05):
what happened with that all meeting last week, the all
hands meeting?
Speaker 3 (23:09):
They need it, Yeah, I mean because people are you know, Dick,
and it was getting out of control and it was
yeah this this was listen. And then I told you, guys,
to the way stuff has been done in the Patrio's
way in the past. It doesn't work as much anymore
because damn thing, everything doesn't just get kept in the
house anymore. It's not just his tunnel and you can't
(23:32):
rule that way. The way they did it in years past.
So you know, players have voices now and a much
bigger voices, and when dads aren't getting used the right way,
they're going to chime up about it. Absolutely. And you
know what, I think the Raiders now and they need
a culture guy, right, They need a culture guy. And
(23:53):
you know they they there. You know, listen Pasaci, it
was a special team chache. He was a culture guy.
He wasn't like, oh the offense, I'm coming in from
the defense. They need a guy who's gonna come in
and help with the culture there. They really haven't had,
you know, obviously a stable culture and so long they
need a stability guy somehow, some way, And it wasn't
John Ruden. He's not a culture guy or stability guy.
(24:15):
But man, he's a he's a folklore guy. You know,
he's a character. And Josh McDaniel coming from the patrious way,
that's not it either. You need a guy who's really
going to stabilize the place and come in and help
with culture first and foremost, and that has not been
built there in the Raiders. And man, I have been
(24:36):
coming this league for thirty years now. I can't I
can't remember what it was.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
You know, it's kind of funny and the crazy year
it is. As you're saying, the Raiders need their own
Dan Campbell, we have to look to the Detroit Giants.
That's who they need. Where he's going to look at
that Rans for great leadership.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
They absolutely a million percent and looked at you know,
greater is different hour it's such a and I feel
bad from their fan base deserves, you know, a winner.
They travel so great, their fan base is so amazing,
and it's like, you know, you see it every year
and you see it happen. They make him his moves
and you're like, oh no, and and even if they
you know, I understand why they brought in the Patriots
(25:13):
way and totally get it right, but you just can't
take somebody else's way and bringing the Raiders right because
there's so many outside factors dating a Raider it's just different.
It's just totally different.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
So yeah, I think they need like a.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
You know, kind of a guy in that let's say,
you know, Richard Satia, kind of a where's not a
big fans fair guy. Guys just gonna come in and
man coach up players like Dan Campbell exactly one of
those kind of guys going to just be able to
build your culture and give a stability. Raiders haven't had
stability in so long. They need stability.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Yeah, and just always remembering off that Belichick tree. Just
because you coached him and you hung around with him,
you're not Bill Belichick. We've proven that doesn't work.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
No, But you know what, here's here's the problem. And
that's why Bill Belichick's assistance a lot of a lot
of really don't work out because they try and be
mini Bill. It's not and they'll see through you in
two seconds. He's the most street smart dudes of the
planet that you coach him. And if you're trying to
be somebody you're not, they're going to figure you out
in two seconds. And if they feel like, man, he's fake,
(26:20):
he's not. He's not a he's not authentic. He's not
going to resonate with him, They're gonna put and now
they're going to push back harder than they ever have
because they have a voice. They have a big players
have much figure voice out and they could be heard
a lot more. So. Yeah, it's that's why Belichick's guys,
I think really don't work out. They can't do the
same type of thing because they try and be somebody.
(26:40):
They're enough.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Jay looking back at the deadline, like the Raiders don't
make a move, but they got a new head coach,
new GM. What was the move that was made that
that you that resonated with you the most, or a
move that wasn't made that resonated.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
With you the most.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
I actually I actually loved the mont That's what h
to the Bears, like they get a kind of build
for future. I really like Montest, but it works his
tail off. You always know when you're getting you get
this consistency, and he's just he's like, you know, you
kind of build culture around that. I really like that move.
I know it's not it's it's kind of counterproductive because
(27:16):
he's like, hey, Chicle, you want to kind of keep
that draft stock down right. It takes sound, but it
is like you have the ability to bring in guys
like this where you already know because it's such a
crap shooting draft, at least you know what you're getting
with him. I've really really liked Nantel. I thought I
thought it was great and also look, obviously, you know
for all three of these these d linemen in Chase
(27:39):
hung for San Francisco. They get a little more flashed
there and they could just rent them for the season
if they want to. But also like Seattle, suddenly at
First Place, getting a guy like Leonard Williams who is
a dog on that defense and they don't have a
lot of flash in that defense. Degenerate and pass for
us with Tomal, you know, Adams and things like that,
getting creative having a guy like that. Remember you know,
(28:00):
laming out a guy like that in in ages.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Yeah, the curiosity for me being the Chicago lunatic that
I am Jay and bringing sweat in the same day
that you have to fire another coach with HR involved
and can't talk about it, just like when your defensive
coordinator went missing. So the first thing with the guy
that you want to negotiate a contract with is, oh, yeah,
the running back coach left, But we don't have any
problems here. He's going to be raising his hand asking
(28:25):
questions immediately.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
That's the tick, Like, Hey, luckily I talk about Sacks,
I don't have to talk about HR. We're good.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
No, that's true, And he is getting out of Washington
and their dysfunctioned, So I guess you know, you trade
one for the other.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Guation too, because it's like, all right, you're you have
a head coach in GM who they want to come
in and move on to the head coach in the gym.
Sure not going to want to move on from talent
because I want to keep them there because they want
to save their jobs. Right.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Sure, But at the same.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Time, you know the owner is going to be like, hey,
let's you know, we're going to have a full reload here.
So it was it was a really interesting That was
an interesting dichotomy.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Check out Jay on Twitter at Jay Glazer that is
at Jay Glazer. Hey, your Unbreakable podcast. This week you
had maybe your most important guest ever, the guy that's
got you paying free for the first time in my life.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Right, oh my god, yes, doctor, you know everybody, since
I've got my stem cell treatment down to patoma, people
have asked, people have asked. I'm like, look, I'm not
the doc, and I tell people about it, and I
tell well, my results are and other people's results are,
But like you gotta ask this guy. He's and I don't,
you know know the sign. So I was like, I'm
gonna have I called him I said, hey, can I
(29:36):
have him on so he can ask all the answer
all the questions basically everyone's asking me. And it was fantastic.
It really I told someone about it again today. I
am not just pain nerve, paining free in my back,
which I ruptured my first my first disc in two
thousand and one at Hens up Racy's Academy of New York.
(29:58):
Man was I had never felt pain like that my
entire life. And it's never gone away like I've never
been pain free since so two thousand and one till now.
And people out there who understand back pain, man, it
affects your mental health. It affects everything.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
It's no joke.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
And I have had seven ruptures and of all the
stupid stuff I've done since, and and miss Barcel Larks
and training all these guys, and have my moron. And
I'm not saying that Sampso is gonna cure me from
being a moron.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
But and you know, I was.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
I was a week away from getting my back fused.
When I was gonna gett I was getting three fusions
in my back HEL four L five L one L
two and T seven L one. It was gonna change
my life. Forever and for the for the worst, you know,
And I went down there. Panama threw up a hail.
Mary and I have been nerve pain free since I
(30:51):
was in Unbreakable today, And you know, one of our
coaches and the adjacent is like, man, it's just it's
great to see you be able to turn your hips
and rotate what I have been able to do in years,
like I've had an altar. The way I move and
getting out of bed is terrible every morning, and now
I'm right out of bed like this. When I went
down and got the stemshell. My fiance Rosie, I got
(31:13):
an a bet. She's like, oh my god, I said
what she just look at you. You're standing straight up.
You're five to seven again.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
I'm like, oh, there we go.

Bank member FD. I see, well, we're gonna do our
upset special picks tomorrow like we normally do, but I
feel so strongly we don't do lock of the Week,
but just this game. We talked about it with Jay
little Bit the Raiders and the news cycle owns this
week of We're getting We got rid of our head
coach and got rid of our general manager. Two weeks ago,
(33:08):
Mark Davis said, just trust me on Josh McDaniel. Two
weeks later, he's fine smarting up. But you've seen already
the freeing of the Raiders that they just seem like
a cloud has been lifted from them. Did you see
that dunk DeVante Adams? Yeah, Davante Adams, you know, in
a video, seems much happier than he was, uh talking
(33:32):
about the day. The media can say what they want
to say. We feel good here dunking on a nerf
hooping in the locker.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
Room, right and we're not going to celebrate it.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
But they make the quarterback change to Aidan O'Connell, which
happened right away as soon as Antonio Pierce got the job.
Josh McDaniels wanted to stick with Jimmy garoppolo, then not
put Aidan O'Connell in. Remember a couple of start playing,
and we're starting Brian Horier for reasons that nobody could understand.
The Raiders are gonna absolutely thump the Giants. I know
(34:01):
Daniel Jones is coming back, but you're talking about a
Giants team that is coming back from one of the
worst losses in franchise history, the way they lost the
game against the Jets. Now they're going against the team
that is gonna be full of emotion and they're gonna
throw the football up and down the field. Give me
the rate two and a half points. I'll give twelve
and a half points on this one. Raiders are gonna
absolutely thump the Giants. You know what, I've got really
(34:22):
good news for you. As I look at Bovada right now,
you only have to give a point and a half.
Who really, because before the show me, Oh, I shouldn't
said anything, man, I have to good point?
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Then? Yeah, well, but you know Raiders joe and a half,
so you already locked your bett in at that.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
But I guess I'll give twelve and you know, and
the thing is. Here's how strongly I feel about it.
I'm going against my never again because I said I'll
never pick the Raiders when anything again, I'm going against
my never again to pick the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, but you can pick him for a game in
this sea. I can do that. I mean, we do
the I watch Flex podcast find it wherever podcasts are on.
We talked about it a lot, and I talked about
the Raiders quite a bit in terms of sleepers and
everything else. For this week right this is We've been
going week to week with do I play Jacobs or
even DeVante Adams. Things have been so bad for that offense.
(35:08):
This is a week you gotta line them up. So
there it is. Look at the Raiders. Believe it in
the Raiders. Coming up next, the big takeaways from Thursday
Night Football. This is Fox Sports Radio.
