You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Welcome in everybody, Hour two Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon.
Jason and Mike are out, Aaron Torres, Jason Martin are in.
We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Yes,
we are live here at eleven pm Eastern time, eight Pacific.
(00:48):
As Monzi just told you, we got ourselves a heck
of a game right now in New Orleans, Georgia Bulldogs
with the ball, about ten minutes to go. Oh Miss
twenty seven, Georgia twenty four.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
It's good stuff, man. It's just that this is a
game you want right here, This is this is probably
the one you, on paper thought was likely to be
the best game has been. Yeah, I kind of did.
I mean, I picked Georgia win it all, but I
mean these two teams are pretty familiar with one another.
The regular season game was good, and just watching Ole
Miss last week, it does feel like to me that
(01:25):
they are playing with a bit of a chip on
their shoulder. At least doesn't mean they're not making some
mistakes and having some lulls here and there. But there
have been moments where Georgia has been, you know, a
little slow to start in some games and things like that.
That wasn't really the case tonight. But like, this has
just been a war. This has been an absolute, just dogfight,
but you actually are having some plays made on both
sides as opposed to it being like the three to
(01:47):
zero war that we got with you know, Miami in
Texas A and m last week.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah, I did not think this was when this one
was going to be close. I thought the coaching was
going to you know, the coaching discrepanty was going to
too great. You know, yeah, they knew each other. But
I was completely wrong. I mean I was basically wrong
about all these games. So what do I know? But
Trinidad Chambliss is the story here. Monzi just gave you
the details. But the guy just keeps making one play
(02:14):
after another after another. Two hundred ninety nine yards passing
with one touchdown. He also has thirteen yards rushing, but
it's just deceptive about his ability to keep plays going.
Just absolutely unbelievable. So we will keep you updated. Will
miss up twenty seven to twenty four. You know, you
talk about blowing open this college football playoff if George's out,
(02:35):
you know, I think we all came in thinking Georgia
Ohio State, you know, but by the way Brackett comes out,
we're thinking Georgia, Ohio State and the Semis and we'll
see what happens there. By the way, more trickeration from Georgia.
They were lining up for a punt on fourth and two.
Now it looks like they're running back out their offense.
I'm very confused as to what's going on right now.
(02:56):
We are not doing play by play if anybody is listening,
but Georgia is going forward on fourth down at about
their thirty six yard.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
Line, and I don't know that they should have done.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
That, and they should not. We have a sack and
a turnover on downs.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Dude, Gunner Stockton, if you're not watching this game, go
find like the I don't know the YouTube recap where
they give you like the three four minutes, the best
places or whatever. I'm not sure I've seen a quarterback
get hit the way Gunner Stockton has been hit in
this game three or four times. The fact that he's
still on his feet is unbelievable. Even like he got
(03:34):
he took the sack here on this fourth down play.
He got destroyed on this play too, Aaron.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
He got destroyed on this play too.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yeah, I was thinking about like the old school, remember
they used to have those what was it called jacked
up like, Yeah, No, he'd.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Been all over that well, the wrong on the wrong
side of it.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Well to your point, you know this, there was nothing
malicious about this sack that just turned it over on downs.
But it is a situation where where there's been a
couple that it's like they don't usually let you you
get away with some of the stuff that old misses.
And I don't think it's dirty, I just think it's
questionable at best. Ole Miss is now right around the
(04:11):
ten yard line, so again to reset here, Ole Miss
is up twenty seven to twenty four. Georgia went for
fourth and two on about their own thirty five or so.
They were lining up to punt, they ran the offense
back on the field. Let me ask you this, Jay
mart As as ole Miss is up, looking to potentially
go up two scores with a touchdown here.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
And potentially is now out the window.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Potentially is out the window.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
A Trinidad Chambliss touchdown pass has put ole Miss up
thirty three to twenty four extra point pending, nine minutes
to go. By the way, in a sport where we've
heard about ticket prices and nobody wants to travel for
these quarterfinals, they just showed the Superdome.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
There is a lot of blue there right now.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Ole Miss extra point pending has just taken a thirty
four if they make the extra point, twenty four lead
nine minutes to go, a two score lead for the
Old Miss Rebels. I have a question for you in
half a second, Jay Mar, you know I'm just gonna
get to get it to you right now, all right,
(05:21):
Kirby Smart, we were praising the aggressiveness early, yep. I
think one of two things, and I guarantee if they
lose this game, which right now Ole Miss is up
ten with nine minutes to go, I can already tell
you Shay is in the back. I can already tell
you what he's gonna cut. Kirby Smart's gonna say we
could not stop Trinidad Chambliss. We felt like we could
(05:43):
not give him the ball back. That's what he's going
to say if they don't win this game. I still
think it's a little too aggressive for my taste. Yeah, again,
Georgia going for it on fourth down at about their
thirty five or so yard line.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
I've said it. I've given my argument, j Mart. It
sounds like you.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah. Look, I like his aggressiveness usually. But similarly, I
sent you a text early, not early, fairly late in
the Texas Tech Oregon game where I didn't understand why
when Texas Tech couldn't move the ball you decided to
go for it on fourth down when you had a
shutout going as opposed to kicking them deep. It was
(06:24):
near midfield, but there's no real reason to go for it.
And I understand that Landing is super aggressive, as usually
is Kirby Smart here, but there was no need to
do it, and in this case, the field position dictated
you don't go for that. Yeah, and they went and look,
he has been right on a lot of these, so
it's hard to criticize him, but I'm gonn criticize him
(06:45):
because I don't think you do that right there. I
just don't. I think that was That's definitely going to
be criticized, and deservedly so, because I'm not sure a
lot of coaches would be able to skate on that decision.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Very questionable call, at least in my opinion. Again, Georgia
trailing at the time twenty seven to twenty four, Alex
to go for it on fourth and two at about
their thirty five or so yard line deep in their
own territory. It wasn't the Old Miss thirty five. It
was their own thirty five. A couple plays later, Trinidad
Chamblis's touchdown pass and Old Miss now with a ten
(07:20):
point lead. Uh, with about nine minutes to go really quick,
because you know, we'll get back to the other games
in a second. I'll tell you what, listen, Ole Miss
still has to close out this game. I will say
this though, to me, it would be shocking if they
did not, if they won this game, because I did
have Georgia winning this game. I'll also go back to
what I said a minute ago, and again, they have
(07:44):
not won this game, and maybe this is probably a
conversation that we should say for after the game once
they win, if they go yeah, if they win. The
Lane Kiffin thing, h I'm sorry, so, and I know
you agreed with me on this, but you and I
were on air during his whole tank where he was
meeting with people and he was trying whatever.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Everyone that was arguing, oh, it's the calendar and play.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
No, there's no calendar you can build to accommodate a
coach that has a team that is good enough to
win a national championship. And if they win this game,
I think there is no doubt that Ole Miss will
be one of the final four teams. And I mean,
I don't know how you could not say that they're
not a national And so it was always if you
(08:29):
want to leave because you think LSU is a better
job or whatever, that's fine, but stop blaming the calendar,
stop blaming others. You are walking out on a team
that is good enough to win the national championship. That
is maybe what has happened out is worth noting. Georgia
has already crossed Midfield, but they are trailing by two scores.
But any quick Lane Kiffin thoughts as he's probably watching
(08:51):
this somewhere as the team that he left is now
eight minutes away from playing in the College Football Playoffs
semi finals.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
I mean, this is the nightmare if you're laying kivin.
I know he loves these kids too, but at the
same time, like he abandoned them, man, he left them
for what he thinks they're going to be greener pastures
at a place where the expectations are higher, there's more
seats to fill. But if you don't win a championship,
it's not enough. The stuff that he's done at Old
(09:21):
Miss is not going to be enough long term at LSU.
And I understand it's just a job that you decide
that you wanted and you've just looked at it forever
and all this other kind of stuff. I just don't
know how you leave these guys like the way that
it sets up. And I don't care about your calendar argument. Dude,
you have them in the College Football Playoff. They're a
one loss team. Go win a title with these guys
(09:45):
and do something no one else has done, as opposed
to following in the footsteps of a bunch of coaches
at LSU that have done this like do this in Oxford.
You read the story just like I did. They were
already thinking about building a statue for the guy INXD
go be like this, this heroic figure there and make
(10:05):
your legacy there. It's gonna be a good life, you
said yourself. They were part of your rehab and just
becoming a better person and finding Christ and all of
these other kinds of things, and you abandoned that. And yeah,
they may not win this game, I don't know, but
they're already proved that they can be just about anybody
just by what they're doing right here. The fact that
they're up ten was seven and a half minutes to
(10:26):
go against the Kirby Smart Georgia team that many believe
might be the best team in the country. Like this
right here is enough. The more you watch this, the
more you're just like, Lane, what were you thinking? Man?
Like I understand you felt like you just really had
to go to LSU, But I just got to ask you,
why did you feel like you had to go to LSU?
Like you could have just said no and been the
(10:49):
guy at a different place.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
It's just.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
It's hurtful really to watch this on behalf of Old
Miss because it's just like man. They had such a
great story and now their story is better if they
go win a championship. But Lane may look back on
this as the biggest mistake of.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
His life, which given him is certainly saying something.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
You know, and I'll just put too quick bows on that,
And I should mention, by the way, a couple things. One,
Ryan Fowler from tied one hundred point nine is set
to join us here in about ten minutes.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
I can't can't wait for that.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Well, it'll be and you know, Ryan knows the whole
secs and he's covered Lane Kiffin, so we'll have to
ask him about that.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
Kirby smart all of that. But it is worth noting
that it.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Looks like Georgia has just scored a touchdown a gunner
stocked in passed to Zachariah branch Old Missus claiming he
was bobbling it. It does not look like that is
the case. The refs do not seem to be spending
too much time looking at the video review. Georgia was
trailing thirty four to thirty one or thirty four to
(11:54):
twenty four. It is now thirty four to thirty one
extra point pending, so technically thirty four to five thirty,
So we'll see what happens. Maybe Georgia comes back and
wins it.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
This great. This is a great football game.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
And is this is one.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
I love being on airon being the first people to
react to this, but I would love to just be
sitting on the couch and listen. I'm grateful for what
we do, not not trying to sound like we're not.
But it'll also be fun to just sit on the couch.
This is a great football game. Georgia has kicked a
pat thirty four to thirty one, with Old Miss still leading,
and they do have the ball again. Ole Miss went
(12:28):
up thirty four to twenty four after Kirby Smart elected
to gopher it on fourth and two deep in his
own territory. Old Miss capitalized two plays later. Tell you what,
we could save that Lane Kiffin conversation for later in
the show, because let's make sure Ole Miss actually wins
this game before again.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
They may not, but I wonder at this point if
Lane is watching he has and he's sitting there and
he saying, Oh, why didn't you call this or why
didn't you do this? I wonder how hard this is
for him to watch if he's actually watching, I feel
like he almost has to be. But like watching how
this is going and not being able to do anything
about it, knowing these kids and all this other kind
of stuff, this has to be. This has got to
(13:05):
be kind of gut wrenching for him.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
I would think, well, I would assume he's watching only
because portal opens now in forty six minutes, and if
All Miss loses, I'm guessing, well, I guess he can't
technically reach out to anybody until they're in the portal.
But there's some players that I think he's certainly interested
in bringing to LSU. So I'll tell you what. We'll
save the lankiff in conversation for later. At some point,
(13:29):
I still want to talk Ohio State, and we probably
didn't do Alabama.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
It's justice in the last hour, but we're going to though.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
We're going to because Ryan Fowler tied one hundred point
nine our Fox Sports radio affiliate down in Tuscaloosa. I'll
tell you what, Jmart He asked me to come on,
So this wasn't I wanted him to come on and
rub salt in the wound. He told me earlier this week.
I want to come on You'll only call me when
bad stuff happened.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
So he said, win or lose. He was coming on
like this wasn't like he said either way he wanted
to be on.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Well, he will be joining us next.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Ryan Fowler tied one hundred point nine, our Tuscaloosa affiliate.
He's got plenty on the Rose Bowl and as I said,
he covered Kirby Smart, he covered Lane Kiffin, so he
will have plenty more in the world of college football.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Again.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
The late game, Ole miss up thirty four to thirty one,
seven minutes left. Come back, get you to the end
of that one. Ryan Fowler joins us Fox Sports Radio.

Subscribe all right. Keeping the updated on what's going on
in New Orleans right now, it is now going to
be fourth and about nine, with about three and a
half minutes ago Georgia at midfield. They're playing old miss
Ole miss up thirty four to thirty one.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Risk continue to I mean now they're just not even
they're not even calling obvious face mask.
Speaker 7 (16:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
I don't think they have flags anymore at this point,
they just they just not part you know, New Year,
no flags.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
I guess that's part part of the New Year rules.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Anyway, I'll tell you what someone who's perspective I actually
want on this game, and also what happened in Pasadenia.
Maybe we just skip what happened in Pasadena, but you
can hear him on our Fox Sports radio affiliate in Tuscaloosa,
Alabama tied one hundred point nineties on two to six
Central Monday through Friday. Ryan Fowler joins us and Ryan even,
(16:36):
you know, like I said, maybe we just don't even
talk about what happened in in Pasadena and instead we
talk about this game on a scale of one to ten.
How surprised are you that Old Miss is in position
to win this game? And keep in mind, I know
you know this, Ryan, but the audience might not. You
covered Kirby Smart, you covered Lane Kiffin, and you covered
(16:57):
Pete Golding, the now full time All Miss head coach
who was basically run out of town in Tuscaloosa.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
How shocked are you by this score?
Speaker 8 (17:08):
I am.
Speaker 7 (17:08):
I am absolutely shocked. But I will say this, and
I know I was listening to you guys talk about
Lane Kiffen in that last segment.
Speaker 8 (17:17):
This is who Lane Kiffin is. I mean, guy, we
you know, we talk about.
Speaker 7 (17:20):
This national you know, possibility of a national title, but
we can also go back to twenty sixteen. I mean,
he couldn't even manage himself for the Florida Lantic job
to make a run at that national title. This is
who Lane Kiffen is. This guy has got issues.
Speaker 8 (17:36):
Listen, one of these.
Speaker 7 (17:38):
Days, you know, when my career is done and I
can actually talk about the Lane Kiffin days in Tuscalosa.
You know, I can tell you a story. But the
way that I described the story is, one day we'll
do a look a lot contests in Tuscaloosa and it'll
be very hard to pick the winner. If you know
what I mean. There's dads in Tuscalosa that don't even
(17:58):
you know, they're probably not dads. Lane Kiffen Uh was
just an absolute reckons us to lose.
Speaker 8 (18:04):
And one day, like I said.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
Those stories will be told.
Speaker 8 (18:07):
But this is what he generally does.
Speaker 7 (18:09):
He creates problems in towns and then he runs from them.
Speaker 8 (18:13):
That's just who Lane Kiffen is.
Speaker 7 (18:15):
And unfortunately he's got a lot of personal issues, and
we're pulling.
Speaker 8 (18:20):
For that side of him.
Speaker 7 (18:22):
But Lsu is happy now two or three years later,
when there's another job that comes available and he's developed,
you know, this long list of issues, he'll run from
those two. That's just who he is. This is if
you follow him, whether it's assistant coach, wherever, he creates
these issues.
Speaker 8 (18:40):
And then he runs from them. This is who Lang
Kiffon is.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
Ryan. Yeah, I look forward to to hear it more
about that down the road, I guess. But at the
same time, like he's so he left all these problems, sure,
I think. I think. My whole point on all this
is just like I don't care what job you wanted.
Like the Oxford story seemed to be turning in the
(19:04):
right direction for him, and at least the public the
way that it was. The optics on it were really good,
like they were giving him the benefit of the doubt,
and it felt like ESPN was in his corner and
he had things going the right way, and he still
could not stay away from a mistress in the form
of Lsu Florida or something like that. Like, I'm just baffled.
(19:25):
I don't care what the job is there's no tie
to LSU anyway, Like, I just don't know how you
leave this team and leave the opportunity to build a
legacy where legacies never existed, as opposed to just being
the next guy to go win a championship at LSU,
which now he's going to have to go do anyway.
Speaker 7 (19:44):
No, no, and I look at it. But sometimes all
that and the credit. I know you guys were giving
Pete Golding.
Speaker 8 (19:50):
Listen, we were on his butt because of some of
the issues that had happened.
Speaker 7 (19:54):
You know, he got a DUI and Tuscaloosa and really
just an embarrass the university from a lot of different perspects.
But as far as what he's been able to do,
I hear great things about this rebound that's authentic with
Pete Golding over in Oxford, Mississippi. So maybe getting Lane
Kiffen away from them could have been actually a good
thing because there's a lot of distractions that come with
(20:16):
Lane Kiffen, right whether.
Speaker 8 (20:18):
He's going to go or whether he's going to stay.
Speaker 7 (20:20):
And so maybe that Burton has been lifted away from
this whole miss program.
Speaker 8 (20:24):
And you've got to root for these.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
Guys because you know, the coaches the way that they left,
the way that you know, it's almost like this underdog story.
And when I look at George, I think they're you know,
they're one of the better teams out there, especially what
they did to Alabama. But I mean, who knows at
this point. I mean, you know it's kind of coming,
you know, a little bit of a kind of a uh,
you know, when Alabama loses, they kind of get kicked
(20:46):
in the teeth.
Speaker 8 (20:47):
But when you look at Pete Goding for what he's
been able to do with this whole Miss team, to
be able to get.
Speaker 7 (20:52):
These guys to play with the confidence that they're playing
with against one of the better teams, You've got to
credit his job and the job he's done. And I
know those ole Miss folks, you know, they want to
win and they're dedicated to winning. As you said, they
were going to rename the statue Lane Kiffen. He had,
Like what else could you want? Yeah, and now you
(21:14):
go to Baton Rouge, where there's already issues and now
with all that money comes a different level of expectations.
You know, will he be able to do it? I
don't know.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (21:24):
You know, I would say this, you know over under
three years, Lane Kiffen's and Baton Rouge. Heck, I'd probably
take the under because we just know what he's going
to do. This is his track record.
Speaker 8 (21:35):
This is not just.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
An outlier for him. This is who he is.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Ryan Fowler joining us here tours and Martin fillin in
for Jason Smith and Mike Harmon take the f till
two am Eastern. Ryan Fowler tied one hundred point nine
two to six Central Time Monday through Friday.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Ryan, I want to ask you about the game real quick.
Are you on air tomorrow Byley? I am okay, yeah,
all right.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
I mean I'm trying to figure out how I'm going
to prepare for this. Any advice from two veteran radio.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Guys open up the show with the phone number.
Speaker 7 (22:05):
Yeah yeah, just so don't do guess just to strike
phone calls.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Okay, yeah, I think that's what they want.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
Hours of CONSTILUSA therapist ron taking your phone calls will do,
Waterfall music will play like Yeah, people can yell you
know at the at the radio hosts that that always
fixes things. And I've probably got some yelling that I
need to do, so maybe I can yell for the
first five minutes and then the next three hours and
fifty five minutes will be theirs.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Well, really quick, what will be the number one talking point?
Thirty eight to three worst postseason loss ever? You know,
a team that never really was able to ever establish
the run. You know, I think you know, Jay mar
and I both thought that they should have been in
the playoff, but there was argument should they even have
been in. Feels like they peaked about middle of October.
(22:53):
Feels like they peaked against some teams that in hindsight
maybe weren't very good. But now that the season is done,
and you know, give us a two to three minute answers,
so we have time to follow up here, Ryan, But
what do you make of today and how things ended
in Pasadena for this team against Indiana?
Speaker 7 (23:09):
Oh, you have to separate yourself and say, Okay, you
judge the season, and we can do that later next week.
But you've got to look at this game and you
have to judge based on this game.
Speaker 8 (23:20):
It was an embarrassing performance.
Speaker 7 (23:21):
I don't know any other way that you can spin it.
I mean, you look at the the way that they
were whipped and if you look at Indiana, the one
thing that jumps out to me is the mental and
the physical toughness that they had. And I thought Alabama
had that because I watched them so many different times.
Who knows, maybe we're inflating the SEC and the SEC
(23:42):
is just not the league that we think it once was.
Maybe that's it's our responsibility, because in a lot of
ways Alabama got there. You know, they go on the road,
they beat Oklahoma, You're like, Okay, this team has turned
the corner. They're getting healthy, and then they go out
and do the whatever that was because there was no energy.
It was almost like this team it reminded me so
(24:04):
much of Alabama back in the days where they would
be pounding on somebody and you just saw no energy,
like no hope. But non verbals were like this game's over.
And you could see that early in that game, like
like it just they and you almost wonder, you know,
in that fourth down call from Caitlin of the word,
(24:26):
I know he took a lot of responsibility at the
halftime break of you know, hey, maybe being a little
bit too aggressive or maybe that was on me the
short field, but it was almost like he was trying
to breathe life back.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
Into them because I just didn't see.
Speaker 7 (24:40):
The fire it was. It was almost like, hey, guys,
we're here, we got our participation trophy, and let us
we'll get our you know, punching them out because Alabama
got whipped at both lines of scrimmage. Offense, defensive line
just got absolutely dominated. And this Alabama offensive line has
been an embarrassment to you know, pretty much the entire
(25:01):
season that Todd Simpson has had to work around this.
And you can throw a lot of darts to toss Simpson,
but I mean he has played feat up the entire season,
and a lot of this is on this offensive line.
It's been a disaster really from the get go, and
they've been able to manage around it and somehow make
the second round of the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
So, Ryan, your point about that Indiana team, that performance
today really did feel like one of those twenty ten
to twenty fifteen VAMA performances, even down to I don't
know how many times Alabama would force a turnover in
the last like two to two and a half minutes
of the first half, knowing they were going to get
the ball to open the second half, turn that into
(25:40):
a touchdown before the break, and just demoralize the other team,
and you had Simpson. They were moving the ball at
ten to nothing. Simpson gets the first down. As soon
as he got it. I was thinking to myself, get
down because he just looked like he was holding the
ball kind of weird. The ball came out as soon
as Indiana got it. You thought to yourself, if they
score were a touchdown, this game's over. And that's what Yeah,
(26:02):
that's exactly what happened. Like that was one of the
most like that. If you had put them, if you
had put the twenty ten to twenty fifteen Alabama team
in Indiana Jerseys, that is identical to what I saw
in that game right there.
Speaker 7 (26:16):
Yeah, and I think probably more talent. You know, Alabama
was on a blue chip talent steering those eras of
Alabama football. And when I look at Indiana, I just
see a team concept. I see a hard nosed football
team that just plays above their head. I mean, you know,
look at the Stars, forget about the Stars, just the
way that they played football. But that that particular fumble,
(26:39):
I'm sure you guys have seen it. Todd Simpson, you know,
ends up with a pretty you know, difficult injury there
with a rib X rays revealed I guess it was
a fracture, so that that fumble, you know, it was
a hit, and that was the part that I think
you could see it. I mean you saw him go
to the sidelines, Jeff Allens talking to him the trainer,
(27:00):
and you could see him kind of grabbing that.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
But listen to the.
Speaker 7 (27:02):
Guy has just played beat up and he's a warrior. Listen,
I don't care what you say. Listen Todd Simpson and
one day, as he said, he'll talk about, you know,
some of the things that he went through. But this
guy has played beat up and it's been because this
offensive line. And I never want to advocate for a
coach to lose his job, but when I look at
(27:23):
this offensive line coach, that's going to be if you
want to ask to be the topic the conversation tomorrow,
that's going to be the topic is will coach cap
be back next year?
Speaker 8 (27:33):
This offensive line coach? And if he is, there's going
to be a lot of disappointment.
Speaker 7 (27:37):
In stuff solution him because the offensive line is built
on those you know, four and five star talent and
they look like the inferior team on both lines of scrimmage. Day,
and that's the part that I think is going to
be hard to swallow, you know, for the next eight
or nine months of how they got physically whips by
a group of inferior talent that played above their head
(28:01):
and absolutely dominated Alabama the longest.
Speaker 8 (28:03):
Cournage on both sides, both sides.
Speaker 7 (28:05):
I wh we can talk to the offense, we can
also talk about defense too, yep. I mean that offensive
line from Indi naf whip Alabama's front seven.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Rush him real quick, Ryan, I want to keep everybody updated.
Georgia in the red zone, trailing thirty four to thirty one,
one oh four left, it's third down. They basically, uh,
you know, obviously worst case scenario here. They are very
much in field goal range. They are trying to go
for the lead and the win with about one oh
four left to go.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Refs, you're starting to raise my eyebrows a little bit.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
Well, back to back pass interference calls correct.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
The first one. First one was very questionable, and of
course they missed a face mask that basically ended an
ole miss drive a little while ago as well. So
a great look here.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Late Georgia again the benefit of the doubt with the
refs who would have ever thought.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
It right with the Carson Beck game on tap with.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
That's right, the Carson Beck revenge game.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
So we will see what happens here as it is
an incomplete pass fourth down.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
You know, Kirby's been going Kirby's been going for it
on fourth all game.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
I don't think he's doing it here.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
I was gonna say, I'm thinking that he will kick
the field goal a minute left, Ole miss up thirty
four to thirty one.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
The field goal unit is coming on.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
So Ryan, I guess bigger picture and we're talking to
Ryan Fowler Tied one hundred point nine, our host out
of Tuscaloosa. You can hear him Monday through Friday, including
this Friday tomorrow, recapping the Alabama game on our Fox
Sports radio affiliate. What is the tone on Klin de Bor?
I think just very simply is that we understand that
(29:38):
it's a tough job, and we understand only one team
can win the national championship. By the way, Georgia has
officially tied the game thirty four up, fifty six seconds
to go.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
We'll keep you updated on that. What is the tone
on kaaln to Bor?
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Because O line isn't good enough historic loss four loss
season if you include the SEC championship game coming off
of a four loss seeds in a year ago, what
is the vibe on Kalin de boor and yeah, I'll
just I'll just leave it there.
Speaker 7 (30:07):
Well, this is this is the part that if you
ask the average fan, they're gonna throw a lot of
stones because many of them thought that Nick Saban left
the cupboard absolutely full and all these five stars and really,
if you go through the roster Caleb, the Borers had
to rebuild so many of these areas because Nick Saban
(30:27):
went through a run at the end of the tenure
where he had bad assistant coaches at many different levels,
and he's had to rebuild that. You saw Nick Saban
and Greg Byrne and all these guys advocate for nil structure,
and I think some of that is see Alabama's at
a disadvantage because we are a very small state. A
(30:48):
lot of maybe this is the problem in the SEC
because there's not a lot of funds in some of
these different states. I mean, you could talk about the
state of Mississippi, you could talk about some other states
in this this SEC region. This is where I think
the Big ten has got a lot of power geographically.
There's a ton of money in all those states, a
(31:09):
lot of those states. So when you look at it,
I think they're going to have to rebuild in some areas,
and you can see it building, but he's trying to
do it in a different way. I think people are
going to be patient in some areas, but they're also
going to demand results because if you go out and
you scream that you need more money on the nil,
well there's a different level of expectation. We talked about
(31:32):
that with Lane Kippen.
Speaker 8 (31:33):
So but you've got to do that.
Speaker 7 (31:34):
If you're Greg Byrne, you've got to make sure that
you walk into Kaylan Borr's office tomorrow with a portal
opening and saying here's the resources that you need. Because
football is what butters the bread. There are going to
be a lot of people that are going to be
very unhappy.
Speaker 8 (31:49):
But I also think you've.
Speaker 7 (31:50):
Got to remind yourself that you've had two power for
schools in Penn State and Michigan that came hard after
Kayleni bar But you've got to make sure that you
give him the resources, whether it's assistant coaches, the money,
whatever it is. He needs to get this program, you know,
head it into the watch truction. You feel like that's
(32:11):
a long word to use, but Alabama Dolo is not
to be knocked out in the second round.
Speaker 8 (32:15):
You got to be able to go deeper.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Right and right right. I gotta cut you off. We
actually have to get to break here. I truly apologize.
You're unbelievable. Hey, you got four hours. People need to
listen to Ryan Fowler tied one hundred point nine in
Tuscaloosa the Tide one hundred point nine. App if you're
not in Tuscalusa, you can hear Ryan for four hours.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Ryan.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
We got to get to our update in our break,
Thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Happy New Year.
Speaker 8 (32:40):
Roll time RTR RTR.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Road Time, Roll time, roll time.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
All right, they're rolling right into the off season. We'll
discuss some of what Ryan said to Cancun. Yeah, and
we will keep in the nial here. I've bet a
lot of them are going to Cancun. All right, Uh,
keep you updated. What's going on in New Orleans. Let's
get it right to the news desk. Mazi take it away.
Speaker 9 (33:00):
Yeah, I was gonna say Trinidad Chamblers does another scramble,
stays alive and makes a great pass down field, but
his receiver taking a hit after catching the ball, loses
the ball. They're gonna say it's an incomplete pass ballso
looks like he took a hard hit to that elbow
where he caught the ball. Initially, ole Miss and the
Bulldogs or Georgia Bulldogs are tied at thirty four. There's
(33:21):
less than a minute to go in this Sugar Bowl.
Trinidad Chambliss has thrown for three hundred and twenty two
yards two touchdowns. Gunner Stockton has thrown for two hundred
and fifty to fifteen yards one touchdown. He also has
a rushing touchdown. Earlier today, Indiana crushed Alabama at the
Rolls Bowl thirty eight to three, where Fernando Mendoza made
it look easy. He threw for one hundred and ninety
two yards and three touchdowns. Alabama did lose their quarterback
(33:45):
Ty Simpson to Andrey early in the second half and
was replaced by backup Austin Mack who finished the game
and then in the Orange Bowl, Oregon shout out Texas
Tech twenty three zero, So Oregon and Indiana are gonna
face each other in the Peach Bowl on Friday, January ninth.
The NFL News you can expect to see Lamar Jackson
for Sunday Night football against the Steelers. Bill's quarterback Josh
(34:05):
Allen did not practice for a second straight day because
of his foot injury. In the NBA, right now, the
Celtics and the Kings are tight to eighty six late
in the third quarter. The Clippers we're off to a
seventeen zero start against the Jazz, but Utah came alive
a little bit. LA is up fifty three to fifty
at the half. Kawhi Leonard has twenty points and the
seventy six ers defeated the Mavericks win twenty three to
(34:26):
one oh eight, where Tyrese Maxi had thirty four points,
eight rebounds and ten assists. And how about this, Seven
time Major singles champion Venus Williams was handed a wildcard
to the Australian Open. She's forty five, so she's gonna
be the oldest woman ever to play at the season
opening Grand Slam.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
Back to you guys, thank you very much, MAB.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Fox Sports Radio Air Tours Jason Martin broadcasting live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios, filling in for Jason Smith
and Mike Harmon. Thirty two seconds left in New Orleans,
third down and five for Old Miss trying to get
on the board before it's too late and they have
crossed midfield. Oh, I hate to do this. We'll come
(35:09):
back to let you know what happened.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
How this one? And this is an all timer a.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Game Fox, we want to know. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Welcome back, everybody, what a game? My goodness, Fox Sports Radio.
Wow ertors, Jason Martin. We're filling in for the Jason
Smith and Mike Harmon Show. Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon.
I should say Jason and Micro out. They'll be back Monday.
He sounds sexy. You heard Arnie Spander. He'll be in
tomorrow with VJ. Husky. Sorry, let's stop burying the let's
(35:48):
stop burying the lead. Old Miss has beaten Georgia.
Speaker 5 (35:56):
I think it's a final there.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Yeah, it's all they're reviewing something.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah, thirty nine to thirty four is the score. When
we left you, it was tied to thirty four. A
deep Trinidad Chambliss pass got Old Miss.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
In to deep into their own territory.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Okay, they they had a first down opportunity. They threw
it away twice to try to take time off the clock.
Ole Miss kicks a forty seven yard field goal to
take the lead. With six seconds to go. They kicked
the ball off. Georgia runs the ball out of the
end zone. By the way, I heard Alex Tyscher breaking
(36:34):
this down well in the back studio.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Do you like that?
Speaker 5 (36:36):
Yeah, I mean, do you want to break it down
for us right now? Do a tyser explain?
Speaker 10 (36:39):
So they kicked the ball off here about four or
five seconds, last six seconds. He got it in the
end zone, started to run out, did a lateral pass
backwards to absolutely nobody. Maybe he saw Casper. He threw
it to them a few times. Nobody was there. Didn't
even go out hit the pylon, and they're trying to
review if.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
There's a second left on the clock. Nailed it. The
call is upheld. We do have a safety.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Our Fox Sports Radio college football insider Alex Tischer.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
Breaking it down.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
I'll be here all night, by the way, hour from now,
we will have version two of Tyshirt's Tower of Trivia
College Football Edition. I cannot wait, but it is final.
I asked that Tyshert. I love you a burying the
lead here. Georgia eliminated from the College Football Playoff Lane Kiffin.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Man Kiffin, Hey, here's the thing. Man Kiffin couldn't be Georgia,
but Golden could. Sagan Kiffin couldn't beat Georgia, but Pete
Golden could.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
He sure could. Although technically there's still a second left
on the clock. Total clown show. Just there's confetti on
the field.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
Yeah, dude, the game's over. Like, what are we doing here?
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (37:50):
I don't understand what the purpose of this is. Ole
Miss thirty nine, Georgia thirty four. It's delaying the celebration
for the old Miss players. They're hugging on the sidelines.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
It's the nothing's for them this year.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Nothing's been easy. You know, I got so many takes,
but it's like, I want this stupid game to end.
But Trinidad Chambliss hugging on the sideline. Trinidad Chambliss, I
would argue j mart on a positive note. Now you
could argue the negatives. Alabama. We'll get to Ohio State
at some point before the show is over. Trinidad Chambliss.
I don't think you could call him the breakout star
because he's been a star all season long. But I mean,
(38:29):
you just talk about a historic performance on an incredible stage,
and these stats aren't gonna do you justice. Thirty of
forty four, three hundred and twenty yards, two passing touchdowns,
play after play after play. All this really goes back
to to me we talked earlier about Nick Saban and
what Nick Saban always said. Who gave Nick Saban trouble?
(38:51):
Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, Guys like that that could make plays, Yeah,
that could make plays off script with their arm, with
their legs. Trinidad Georgia could not stop Trinidad Schambliss's unbelievable
performance for him. One second technically left on the clock.
I assume Georgia will try some sort of weird on
side kick. There is one second left, Ole miss up
(39:14):
thirty nine to thirty four, one second away from advancing
to the College Football Court semi finals.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
One nice piece of news for you out there. This
is a feel good story. It really is, Lane Kiff.
It makes half a mill that's true if they win
this game.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
I forgot about that. Unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
I mean, I guess in some ways he's getting the
last laugh. But you know we're gonna come back. We
got two more hours left. I have a feeling that
will be a big talking point. I don't want to
undersell what Ole Miss has done. I don't want to
sell under sell what this team has done. As Georgia
is kicking the ball off trailing by five with one
second to go in the Sugar Bowl, and that's not even.
Speaker 5 (39:53):
Gonna cross ten yards, and it does, the game is
officially over. What is going on?
Speaker 4 (40:01):
Well, I don't know, man, the refs, the refs didn't
do squat during the whole game, and now they're just like,
this is just a can we get the it's finally
there's a bath. Now Pete Golding has gotten some gatorade
on him, So yeah, I think we're done here finally.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
So it was a pseudo on sidekick. I don't even
know if you call it that. Following the safety, Georgia
recovered and no time came off the clock. Pete Golding
has gotten the gatorade bath. We think it's done. I'm
so glad we got two hours left. By the way,
I asked, is Georgie gonna get the ball back with
one second left?
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Did please let this be over?
Speaker 5 (40:33):
If George, I mean, how does the second not come
off the clock?
Speaker 4 (40:36):
Can the officials be fired like during the game.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
Okay, so I'm just gonna reset this because we got
a couple of seconds. We'll come back. We'll get you
to the end of this game. Georgia might have the
ball with one play left and a chance to win.
Ratorres Jason Martin and for Jason and Mike Fox Sports
