Speaker 3 (01:00):
Tell us we're crazy, oh those things at how about
a fresco at swallowing home at Fox Sports Radio as
Jason Smith celebrates Dancing in the Halls.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
One eleven ninety four.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
The Knicks win tonight, so their before I get to
where I think the Knicks might have had a little
bit of extra help tonight, I'll get to that in
a second. Remember what I told you what the live
line was, though, hang on, hang on, go at halftime,
just as the third quarter, the right as we were
getting ready to start the show. It was was it
eighteen and a half sixteen sixteen Nicks minus sixteen Ni minus.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Eleven ninety four?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Hey, no, math, folks, No such thing as a useless
bucket at the end of.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
A fifteen point Oh sir, Well, look where am i?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Okay, obviously it's a little bit different because Jason, you're
running around like a lunatic and nearly cursing on the air. Yes,
that was the old meat. No, that was the pregame
won meet. But I'm telling you something broke in me
in game one, and when something breaks, you need time
to fix it.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
So where am I right now? Well?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yes, I'm extremely happy the Knicks extended the series. Now,
you never know what can happen in game six, and
but they played really well. I was happy that they
came out tonight with a big effort, and I knew
they would right now, That's one thing I'm proud about
because this is kind of in the Knicks DNA. It's
not in the next DNA to quit, to not show up,
to say things aren't going our way, and the Pacers

(02:21):
just have us. There's nothing else we can say because
the Pacers, honestly, the first four games of this series,
this is the best they could ever hope to play.
They are playing at one hundred percent capacity. Again, four
guys on this team having the greatest day of their
NBA lives and three games of this series, right you
see with with Halliburton, and even another night tonight for

(02:42):
Matherick who had twenty three points, right, but he had
the other big night in game four. And you had
Nie Smith's game in game one, right you see. You
see there's so many you know, four players in Siakam
again who looked like Kevin Durant in game two. They've
been playing so incredibly well. But I knew the Knicks
would come out with this kind of f because that's
that that's who they are. We're gonna come out. We're
at home, We're not going away. We're gonna show you

(03:05):
we're still in this thing. And the Pacers played the
game I expected them to play. We're gonna try, we're
gonna stay in it, but if things aren't going our way,
we're gonna back up a little bit. Right when you
got to the fourth quarter, who was on the bench.
Tyre's Halliburton. Right, So this is where the Pacers understand,
all right, we're not getting the night the way he
went at it this game, We're not.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, I mean, he's a non factory. This was this
was bad Halliburton, right? Eight points? Right? How does Halliburton
have eight points?

Speaker 1 (03:31):
But really, how does every start everybody in the starting
lineup for the Pacers except for Siakam score in single digits?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Right?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
This is a Pacers team that say we're gonna see
if we can hang around, and if we can hang around,
all right, we'll show you a little something in the
fourth quarter. But even Rick Carlisle sa, okay, this is
probably not there for us. The best they did was
cut it to twelve. The Knicks got it out to
sixteen eighteen easily again, and that was it. Right, But
this is what teams do.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
This is not something that is a that is a
big hot taken go. You should be ashamed of yourselves
for showing up this way.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
You said, no, this is how it works.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Hey, I'm still gonna say that in games where it's
you got to close out opportunity, come on, man.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
You could disagree with that. I'm with you on it,
but this is just a very common strategy. Now.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
It's hey, you got two, you got two remaining.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah, we're looking at it like we're not going to
go crazy to do this because we don't want to
risk injury. We don't want to risk uh, you know,
a big momentum shift. It's hey, they're winning this game,
It's okay if we pull pull everybody back. That keeps
our players in a positive frame of mind and full
of confidence, because that's really what it is.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
It's about.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Hey, if we go for it all the way through
to the end of this game and we don't win,
this gives the Knicks more confidence that, Hey, we finally
closed out a game at home where the Pacers had
all their starters in and they were all the way
to then maybe we're figuring things out. And conversely, for
the Pacers, it's boy, have we run out of magic?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Right?

Speaker 1 (04:53):
You know, while we're going home, everything's gonna find But
in the back of your mind is a little bit
of boy, we close these two games out earlier now
that the knickt just put the pedal down and did
it to us. So this is why teams pull back.
It's injuries. It's also that's not our night. We want
to have our players still in a great tram on
and feeling confident going back home for Game six, which
we expect to be the closer for us. And if

(05:15):
it's not, we've already won two games in MSG. If
we got to come back for game seven, we still
feel really good. We have two chances to win one game.
The Knicks got to win both. So yeah, it's more
of it's a natural thing now because look, go back
in the playoffs the last ten twelve years. How many
times do we see thirty forty point blowouts where this
team was just up three to one, they were looking
that this is the best the team has ever played.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
How do they lose by sixteen?

Speaker 1 (05:38):
How to no start a scoring double figures because teams
don't put forth the effort right. Rick Buker is gonna
join us coming up in about fifteen minutes. He talked
with us about this a few nights ago. Yeah, teams
come in and just say, hey, we're gonna go for it.
But then if things don't go our way, we don't
start getting calls and it looks like it's getting away
from us. Okay, we're gonna put it away and just
kind of, you know, just kind of mail it in

(05:59):
and back and get ready to win Game six.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
We see it all the time now.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Yeah, Unfortunately you and I are on Era as we
watch it happen, which means it becomes a far less
compelling product to try to chronicle.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
As we got through it.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
But the reality of it is, to your point about
injuries putting heavy minutes on, You've already played a hundred games, right,
No matter how efficiently you've gone through these playoffs, add
preseason workouts, add everything, and travel whatever, you're at a
point where you're trying to steal minutes and steal rest
wherever you can. And in this case, you saw large

(06:34):
swathes of time where Haliburt was on the bench didn't
affect the game a ton when he was there. Again,
there's nothing like Haliburton on the bench, but he's on
the bench like at one point, it was like a
staredown because Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
They're buying him minutes before he's.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Got to come back, and they're like looking at each
other like they're both in the penalty box, sure after
fighting in hockey, like all right, three.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Two, all right ahead, all right, we're both gonna check.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Back in and make it exciting for the people for
a couple more minutes. But for the Knicks huge to
actually get a win at home, extend the season. All
your conspiracy theories, you know, just keep wearing your tinfoil
hats exceed. The NBA gets another game, they get into
the weekend, in those glorious weekend spots to televise a

(07:22):
game in prime time.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Scott Foster is standing by for your phone call.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan was the scheduled Is
there a replacement with Dennis Quaid?

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Is there a place I can get all of these
fouls in one place. Yes, if you call now, Scott Foster,
the extended will put all of these fouls on Nie
Smith and Halliburton.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
In game six. You love her an abb and Elementary,
you'll love her even.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
More in the Parent Trap go back, You'll get fouls
like offensive fouls.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
You'll get fouls. You'll get fowls like blocking calls.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
You'll get all of them here in this one easy
to grab cd.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Uh, and they get a bonus disc of all of
the channel Jesus and the conversations had by the officials
as we go to the sideline.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
David, So where am I? I'm happy? Obviously, I'm glad
they won. I feel like I did. I feel a
lot like I did after they won Game three. Okay,
what did they do? They bought themselves another couple of days. Well,
because well, because this is the end, like this just
could be ending, This could be it anymore. The killer

(08:26):
awoke before it could. He put his boots on. But
but I'm you know, they won a couple of games.
I'm happy, but I'm more of the Okay, this was great.
Now we don't don't get too happy. Now, now we
gotta go for game sex. Like when in Bull Durham,
when uh, when Tim Robbins comes off the mat and
he's all happy because he struck out the side and
he goes, hey, man, this is great, and and Kevin

(08:47):
cost says, you kidding.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Your fastball was up here, your curve ball was here.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
In the show, they would have ripped you and he goes,
can't you let me enjoy the moment, and he said
the moment's over and he goes up to hit, like, Okay,
that's great. Like the Knicks won this game. Okay, it's over.
Now you gotta go Game six. I will be very
excited and crazy again if the Knicks win Game six.
But what did they do again? I feel like they
did after game Hey, they won game three. They made
the next couple of days matter. They won tonight, they

(09:12):
make the next couple of days matter. I'm not gonna
yell and scream or suddenly at the end of the
show go you know, I have a time to sit
here and think about this, and I've had a lot
of alcohol, and I'm telling you we're gonna win game six.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
We're gonna go win game.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Sex Like this is this is where I'm at. This
is the Hey, great tonight, awesome, they showed up to win.
But okay, now we get onto games. I'm not getting
that excited.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Well, it is a big Thursday night. Summer has unofficially started,
so I mean the bars are gonna be full on
a Thursday night. You can go and get after it
a little bit. I mean, I'll fill a buster and
then you can come back after a couple of shots
to close things.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Out, shoting a beer, shot a beer.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
No.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
The thing that you know, the thirty thousand foot view
you being Knicks fan, me trying to keep you calm right,
highs and lows, you know, ride the lightning, the role,
the coaster of it all is as a guy watching
the NBA and thinking that you know who teams are
and their identities.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Particularly at this point in the year.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Right, we often get into the NFL playoffs going I
have no idea what I'm getting from this squad. And
for the NBA, we we think we know their identity.
And if the Knicks had gone back to Madison Square
Garden and gotten punked tonight by the Pacers, then they
were all frauds the entire time. So I knew they'd
or I had hoped, I guess, and hope being a

(10:31):
dangerous word, is that they'd show up with the physicality
and the effort of we're not going down like we
just watched the Timberwolves, because don't tell me to a man,
they didn't watch the way that game went down and go, man,
we can't do that.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
And in New York.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
I mean, if you're the sports sports section editor, you're like,
I just need to reserve a lot of column inches.
I know, But the Yankees don't play the Dodgers till tomorrow,
so we got you know, and we've already got the
preview of that that's in the camp. Here's what we
have to work with. It's all of this.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Game, and the poison pens are out if it goes
the wrong way. And the players and staff they knew
damn well coming into that opening tip that people were
ready to go after them. For Kat and Jalen Brunson,
given their defensive liabilities at time, and we chronicled them
through the regular season.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
It's nothing new new to us.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
I mean we've watched it and probably commented it up
more nationally than anybody.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Else would, of course, as we are apt to do.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
But you know, watching this squad in the bench, players,
the McBride file, whether you thought it should have been
a play it or not, that's that's the identity of
who this team.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
I thought they were.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
So to see some of that said, it took too
Game five to get it, but you got it tonight,
which means I can't wait for game six to see
you know what kind of effort.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
They bring in. Whether Halliburton's dad's back on the court side.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Now it may not matter because I got this tweet
from Amy okay, who sent me a picture from a
Reddit and this is this is crazy if this you know,
but you had me at She sent me a picture
a picture of from a Reddit thread that someone who
was a Knicks fan put out, I just paid a

(12:20):
witch on Etsy to cast a spell to help the
Knicks win tonight. And then they added like what they
paid and here the item was like twenty one dollars
and they had like twelve dollars in credit, so they paid,
they paid eight credits they had credit, so it was
twenty one bus what they ordered the previous time.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
That's what I want to know.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
I don't know, but it was item total was twenty
one to twenty. So apparently buying a spell to help
the Knicks is twenty dollars in tax. But whoever this
was also had a twelve dollars credit so or maybe
it was a group on I don't know, but it
was still a thing eight dollar oh yeaheah, group I
still okay, yeah, but eight bucks, you know, overall to
cast a spell for the Knicks to win.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
You know, right on pch right by the house.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
We've got someone who advertises all the readings and whatever else.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Maybe they could help.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
I actually do those? What's up, Frostburg, I actually do those?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
You do? I didn't know that. You know, you know
what I charge? But what do you charge? Seven dollars?

Speaker 1 (13:17):
What about six minutes that he's gonna give you seven
minutes of com.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, but are you a license? Which I mean, too bad?
None of this, none of this anything any None of
this matters at all. Of course it matters.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
None of this matter because you had their funeral planned
for tonight. Yeah, well apparently we did. We you know,
there was a problems with the weather. You have to
set this one out, set this one out. You don't
get this, I said, as I think I gave a
pretty good where I am no two nights ago, you know,

(13:50):
but I think i'm I think I am pretty pretty
honest about where I am and where I am celebration
wise with this. All right, So for you, it's an
oh eight dollars for me, But you got to show
me that you're a like legitimate witch or wizard or Warlock,
like you got to show me casting crazy spells on
the next man.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Really, are you gonna use all your spells for the Yankees?

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Yankees post no threat? Okay, I'm just making sure Judge
drop out another fly ball.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yet it's an end of May, beginning of June series.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Wow exit out about a Fresca exit swallowing down The
Jason Spin Show with Mike Harmon coming up next. Do
the Knicks have a shot? Rick Buker stops by for
that and more? Does anybody have a shot against the
thunder that's coming up next?

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Right here? Jason, Mike, you're listening to Fox.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon,
My Upset special more basketball coming up in a second,
But you this is something I wanted to bring this
up tonight. The big highlight of the day in sports
the big walk off home run Women's College World Series
Ella Parker of Oklahoma second home run of the game.

(15:16):
Tennessee's pitcher the fastest pitcher in college softball. Some of
her pitches seventy five seventy eight miles an hour, like
she took really, really hard. And she hits a big
walk off homer and snatch a win out of the
jaws of defeat. And now Oklahoma four time defending champion
doesn't have to go through the loser's bracket.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Scary squad man, they just keep coming.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Now, Ella Parker's a sophomore, right and she's made all
these headlines today. And Ella Parker is someone I coached
with her dad in softball at our little league. She
played in our little league at Westchester. I coached Ella's
younger sister in softball, Ava, who I think is now
a terrific volleyball player. And it's crazy seeing her success

(15:59):
being this could like all this. She's like the number
three recruit in the nation and she's hitting like four hundred.
Here she is now single handedly winning the game for Oklahoma.
Now I say this because I gotta ask you, do
you know whose niece Ella Parker is?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Now?

Speaker 1 (16:17):
She comes by, she comes by her softball skills. Uh,
pretty honestly, she is Dodgers manager Dave roberts niece.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Now I never saw he never came to any of
the games. And maybe he came when because Ella Parker
was is a is a like probably four years four
years older than Zoe's so when I was there, her
sister was was Zoe's age. So this that's why we're
there at the same time. But it but seeing her
like I would see her. I remember seeing her games
there where she would be like, wow, she just hits
the ball like that. She's been she's been DP for

(16:45):
Oklahoma now for the first two years, and wow, can
she just she can just tattoo it. And both those
home runs today, like as soon as I said, oh,
that's gone. Uh, Like Pam and I went to lunch
today and we go in, we sit down, and I go, oh, hey,
I'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Ella Parker's gonna bad. I want to go.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
I go up, I go by. Wow, she crushes that
ball to the right field stands for home run.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
I get back. Peng goes, what happen? I go, shit,
a home runs? You didn't call me to tell me.
I go what do you want me to say? Hey,
the ball's going out?

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Cut?

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Oh you missed it? The only see the replay.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
There's only like three seconds from the ball hits the bat.
Do you know what's the outcome of it's gonna be
you were gonna get up here in three seconds and
see that.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
I'm sorry, she's I could have seen the replay.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
I go wait three seconds, it'll be on I'll have
it on Twitter in a minute. I'm sure this will
be on the You'll be able to see it. It's okay,
what fun time of year. Obviously Oklahoma going for that
that five count the king Kong Bundi five count of titles.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
In a row. We were talking about.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
The million dollar nil deal in at A and M
and where we're at in the larger continuum where it's
all our most of the oxygen is taken up by
basketball and football when you talk about athletes and payments.
That it's good to see women's softball getting a little
run and on the national stage getting a little bit

(18:00):
of shine as well.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
For the competition it's become.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's a fun tournament, right, I
mean because probably Texas getting bounds. Yeah, yeah, like A
and M losing the first team to ever not when
they were the number one team in the country. I'm
making it out of their own regional I mean that's
like a one to sixteen loss in the NCAA tournament,
like it really is something. You don't have a one
seed here in the in the college, in the college

(18:24):
uh softball playoff, So big big doings here as we
saw this. You can get walk offs anytime in the
middle of the day. Don't have to don't have to
wait to watch Premier League middle of the day, middle
of the week.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Now you can. You can get drama during the.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
You know me, I love my middle of the day soccer.
No question about a lot of chaos, a lot of
referees to yell at.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
So it's good.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Let's find out what's trending right now in the wide
world of sports.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
From Martin Weiss.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
He's got a he's got his guitar in with him tonight,
and I see you at various times doing work on
the computer, fear updates and also playing your guitar, like
you're getting everything done tonight at work.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
You know, I try to be a multi how fastest
a human being? What can I do? Okay? Very good?

Speaker 5 (19:02):
Bottom of the ninth nning the Raves with a ten
run lead over the Astros thirteen to three. Bottom of
the seventh inning. The Nationals and the Mariners Washington with
a two to o lead. Of them three games in
Major League Baseball outside of that, two of them were
between the Phillies and the Braves.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Game one of that doubleheader, Phillies.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Got five to to four Kyle Schwarber with a home
run there is nineteenth on the year, and the Braves
got the next one nine to three, and the Blue
Jays pounded the Athletics twelve to nothing after eight runs
in the second inning. Now to the conference finals or finals,
depending on which ports you're talking about. Let's go to
the Hockey one Western Conference Final. Edmonton six to three

(19:44):
over Dallas wins the series four to one over Dallas.
That means the Stanley Cup Final will be between the
Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers. In the NBA, the
Knicks stave off elimination three to two. The series right
now one to eleven to ninety four. The final score
of tonight's game Jalen Brunson with thirty two points, Karl

(20:05):
Anthony Towns had twenty four. Bennett of Mathern ended up
leading the Pacers and scoring with twenty three points. Tyreez
Halliburton on two for seven from the floor eight points.
He was minus twenty three on the night. In the NFL,
Michael Parsons hoping to receive a long term contract extension prior.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
To the start of the season. He's not at OTAs.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Ricky Piersoll has a hamstring interist injury, likely will not
return to practice until training camp, and the Dolphins have
expressed interest in trading tight end John new Smith. John
new Smith more interested in staying in Miami, but the
Dolphins want to restructure this four point eight million dollars
deal that he's owed to start next season. So we'll
see the Dolphins and Smith.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
I'm Smith not seen.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
Rather, at the second day of Dolphins OTAs and SIBE
president Charlie Baker says there's value in expanding Mark Maddness
from sixty eight teams to seventy two or seventy six teams.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
He expects to reach a decision on that in the
next few months. Back to you guys, thanks a bunch, Martin. Now,
just real quick on this on this John new.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Smith story, which doesn't make any sense because you know
what do I say? The Steelers, Hey, Omar Kahn Mike Tomlin. Dude,
you guys, I don't know that you know what it
is to run a team in twenty twenty five to
not understand that the quarterback is the most important position
on the field and you got to take care of that,
not try to get by with it. Right, It's an
antiquated way of doing things. I don't get how this

(21:30):
is how you run a team. I also don't get
how the Miami Dolphins are being run right now. I
don't understand how in a year you go from all
this young talent a fast team that's going to change
the way the NFL is. Right here's a young team
that's coming out here, we're fast. Good luck keeping up
with us. And now they're starting over and they're talking
trade with the Steelers, trading away a Pro Bowl tight

(21:52):
end when they don't have anybody on the roster. It's
not like the Raiders where every year we're taking a
tight end in the first round. So hey, well, if
we want to trade away our guy, you know we
still have Mike Mayer. You know, I mean, I don't
I don't understand that the Dolphins don't have anybody. I mean,
and if this is a trade where it's gonna be
John hus Smith for Pat Fryermuth. Okay, I kind of
get that a little bit. I okay, Well friar Muth

(22:13):
is not bad, and you don't want to pay John
news Smith more. But he's not been named in any
of this. This has not been Hey, they're talking to
tight end swap. This is we're talking about a trade
with John new Smith because we don't know if we
want to pay him. Like, what the hell is going
on in Miami? How do you have all this talent
in how are you a year ago? A little bit
over a year ago? We are ready to be the
next great power?

Speaker 2 (22:33):
And good luck?

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Because that's how I felt about they're going great. I
spent all this time looking up at the Patriots, and
now you look up at the Bills, and now the
Dolphins are good man, this stinks. I hate being in
the AFC East, but now I look at it as,
oh boy, what are the Dolphins doing?

Speaker 2 (22:47):
I mean they don't have anybody there.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
I mean I think Jim Jensen is the guy that's
gonna catch passes for that team. Now you like my
crash Jensen, No, that's pretty good. I mean you still
have Wattle Hill Westbrook.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
Kakine comes in, he's solid in the out of the backfield.
Eight chan right, you brought in Alexander Madison. Insert your
lines there. I mean they're reuniting for the Tonys and whatever.
So that's good to do some Hamilton stuff.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
But then you're looking at the tight end position. It's
Pharaoh Brown. You laugh at the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
Well that's where he began in twenty seventeen, and he's
not hit so certainly not exactly operating for a position
of strength.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
They have currently six tight ends on their depth chart,
but none of them touch passes, none of a really
good none of them to catch passes.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
Now if they're really great blockers, which is how Faraol
Brown still clicks his checks. I guess you're looking for
a guy to keep too upright, but you're going to
trade away a guy that had eighty eight catches for
you no last year. Now, part of that also becomes
the for the Steelers side of things. That's the all
right break glass in case of emergency. If Rogers doesn't

(23:58):
show up, nothing, he doesn't utilize the tight end position.
But let's face it, you get into check down mode
for any of those other quarterbacks. That'll be on the
roster unless Captain Kirk finds his way, then you can
push downfield.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
The other being, for the Steelers, you're sitting there.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
With what twelve thirteen picks, I forget what the official
number is now for the twenty twenty six draft.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
So if they want to.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Bring him in and you've got room, and you can
finagle money, because you can always make the money work.
We talk about that all the time in terms of
smoothing things out. Whatever that you want to bring him in,
it's another body, right, it's another He's a good player,
there's no question about that. Is he a difference maker
down the field? Replacing what you lost when you trade
it away George Picking? No, but a guy with sure

(24:44):
hands in a division where for two months out of
the year you're hoping that the winds aren't cutting down
anything beyond an eight yard pass an extra tight ends
not the worst thing.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
To have, no, look, it's not.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
And knowing this would be a good train paid for
the Steelers, right, I'm saying this would be a good trade. Hey,
we're gonna pay this guy because clearly this means we're
gonna run the football lot. Right.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Oh yeah, I'm just just missing the Dolphins even though
we're getting I mean this primetime games, like I've already
written them off.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
At the same time, though, it's the still like like
like you gotta get your quarterback things situated, man, I
mean really, I I don't.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
I don't get that.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
How they just Hey, we're gonna we're gonna get by
with whatever we can get by with a quarterback. I
mean it's really it's like me getting into my car going, hey,
I'm gonna drive to work right now.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
But you don't have air in your tires. Doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
I'm gonna get by. Yeah, but it's leaking. It's you're
gonna run out of air in the freeway. It's fine,
I'll be I'll be fi, I'll get bye. I'm just
gonna get by. But the rest of my car is great, right,
the whole. I got the bows audio that the I
got the stereo sounds great. The air conditioning works, yeah, yeah,
that sounds awesome, right, the the the built in GPS, No,
everything else. The seat is comfortable. I got the the

(25:54):
you know, the the seat is gonna I can I
can make it hot or cold, I can cool the seat. No,
I got a great car. Yeah, but the tires of
the most but yeah, whatever, really that I'm gonna run
out of hair, Kyle.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
I'll get buy I'll be able to get to work
and drive home. It'll be fine. No, it doesn't happen
that way.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
I really thought you were gonna go up Kramer, trying
to ride out whatever gas is left in the in
the system. But yeah, for the Dolphins, a lot of curiosity, right,
we questioned why they got so many.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Primetime games in a division.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
That it would look, at least on paper, that the
Patriots are going to pass them by again. Right, So
where now you're you're challenging the Jets for the bottom
and and and are raced down to there. But to
a tongue of Biloa, good and efficient quarterback went upright
and ready to play. You've got a couple of great
wide receivers and then a lot of questions. Skill positions

(26:48):
fairly set, but losing an eighty eight catch? Guy, Oh yeah,
that's tough, how goes man? That's a all right, let's
find the money in the room and everybody cough up
a buck.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
So we'll have morel on the way. But right now,
well we have a game to play.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Bad news is Magic Johnson is not tweeting Quitter after
the Knicks have sent the Eastern Conference Finals to Game six.
But the better news is we still have a game
to play. Justin Frossburg has.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
A home cooked game.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Oh, coming off of Game five of the Eastern Conference Finals, Frostburg, what.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Do we have? I mean, we shouldn't even be celebrating this,
but why not? Why shouldn't we be? We absolutely should
not be.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Why not? It's fine to celebrate it. Why should we
not be celebrating You had them at their funeral today, Yeah,
and the calling hours were supposed to be tonight, but
they won, so we postponed the calling out.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
I mean, I found a lot of songs about funerals,
some Irish dirges, some Lannigan songs. Maybe that's why that
guy threw the bottle at my car when I was
driving in. You didn't need it, like the land again,
it's tough to host one of those when they're alive
and kicking, you know.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Yeah, that's what wait, wait for it. Hey, wait a minute,
we got some news from the hospital. Yeah, well, just
we're gonna We're gonna for a couple of days. She's
get away a little bit. It's inevitable, but it's like
an arrest of development. We've lost George Senior. What wait,
let him finish, Let him finish. Yeah, he just left
the hospital. We don't know where he is. Why would
you say things like that? All right, so what's the game, Frostburg?

Speaker 2 (28:14):
What do we got?

Speaker 4 (28:14):
All right?

Speaker 1 (28:14):
Well, there's a lot of cheap tickets court side at
the next game, as we all know. Sure, yes, but
they're so cheap that the people don't even pay for them.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Not cheap they are.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Now, it was this celebrity sitting court side at game
five at Madison Square Garden. Oh okay, was the celebrity
court side? Okay, all right, very good, let's go. What's ready?

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Yeah? Yeah, Howard Stern? Did I see Howard Stern in
the cutaway?

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Say? Front row?

Speaker 2 (28:44):
I mean like the first three rows. I think that's
celebrity row there.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Yeah, but he's only the He said, if I'm I'm
never gonna sit in the second row. I either sit
in the first row. I'm not going to the games.
And he actually said that. He said that a couple
of weeks.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
He should have been decade.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I'm not a second row guy. I sit in the
first row right and go to games. Uh, I don't
know that I saw Howard start at the game time.
I'm gonna say no. I'm gonna say no he was
I agree, no on Howard, you're both pig Vomit.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
He was not at the game.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
W wain BC, w n BC, w n BC. Alright,
all right, one for one, very good. All right, I'm
feeling hot. You think pig Vomit ever met with Pete Rose? Uh?
Maybe he was in a room at some point as
a kid. I just thought my nephew was Shaboozy at

(29:32):
the game. Courtside O, your gosh, Chaboozi was Chaboozy at
the game. I feel like he's at every game. Uh,
did I not, Drake? Did I see Chaboozi? I don't
know that.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
I said.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
See, that's what sucks about being on the air or
doing the game, like I can't see all the couple.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
M I'll take the being out in the air rather
than but I want to win this game. I like that.
I get it.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
I'm gonna say Shaboozy was there. I'm gonna say no.
Neither of us have any idea, but I'm saying he
was there. Well, you're correct, Chaboozy, was there your goals?

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Chaboozy in the house two for two? Beckham sitting court
side a game.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
David Beckham was David Beckham court side Crisps Boots. I'm
gonna say, yeah, I did not see him.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
He didn't see Shaboozy either. No, but I got but
I was right. I guess right.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
I'm gonna say I'm hot, I'm feeling hot. I'm gonna
he checked. I'm gonna say David Beckham was not at
the game tonight.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
And I said yeah, yeah, he was, Wow, you're letting
Smith win.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Woo oh. He checked Smith. He checked Smith. Give me
the ball, Give me the ball. I'm like Brunton the four.
He checked, okay, go. Was John Mellencamp at the game, sitting.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
Next to Pat McAfee. Never wanted to see No bet
no pop singer?

Speaker 1 (31:04):
I no, No, I don't. I'm gonna say, did he
travel to New York to tell everybody, Hey, not going
to New York. Sorry, people made fun of you Knicks fans.
I'm gonna say no. For John Mellencamp, you are correct,
all right. I feel good about right. That was one
of the dumbest things I've seen in recent memory. Well,
he wants to make sure people Indiana hospitality means something.

(31:26):
All the guy does his stand at a microphone and
yell at people that are there at his concert.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Hey, John sing it up? Hey, you know Jobby what
he'll be a game six, He'll be okay, all right?
One more? One more? Was Diddy at the game tonight?
I'm gonna go out to Live and say, oh, not
at the game tonight. I think we would have gotten
more to that. Man, I need baby Oil. Not at

(31:52):
the game? Whoa not at the game? Not at the game?

Speaker 1 (31:55):
No, no, no, sire, You're gonna give me like a
Marishka hargetay because I saw what we saw.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
Her well, because they were probably talking about the fact
that Giddish is coming back as a full time cast
member for next season of that. So their buddies and
hanging out together, all right, I mean Stiller was there.
They showed Shallow May and Spike Lee in that great Nickie.
I think, come on, that guy got a lot of
screen time. Yeah, but Mike Lee was dressed like a
batman super villain like that. He looked great, man. I

(32:20):
thought he'd looked like you ever see what was it
all about to Chew Chew trained with Genevieve like it
was on Disney in the mornings, and it was like
this little thing where they'd sing a song. She was
dressed like a conductor. Wait, well you had the conductor
and then she was like the ticket taker. Yeah with Genevieve. Yeah, yeah,
that that was the suit combination to me that it

(32:42):
looked like it was straight off of that.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Interesting.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Ah, I never thought about. Now you gotta go back
and look at that, Chuck Ington, that's what they're going with.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Jason Smith Mike Harmon Live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
We could play this game. There's more more celebrit there's
a million of them. We could play this game coming up.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
But straight ahead, when an email that goes out erroneously
but tally gives the future plans of a sports biggest star,
we have to break it down.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
That's next. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
You know, once in a while we get an erroneous
text or an email sent out, and we turned out
to learn something big about a person's career. What was it?
Was it Albert Poolhols right, his wife did an interview
in Spanish somewhere and let it said that Alberts this
is gonna be his last year in Major League baseball.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
What happens? Right? Didn't that happen with an Albert Pooles
That happened with.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
I am verifying that for you. I say this because
this is what happened today. Yeah, it was on soon.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
It was a message of blessing as he ended the season,
something she had not done before, but before the twenty
one season.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
That it was interpreted wrong.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
She wasn't saying he was retiring, right, it's a blessing
for this upcoming season.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
And then he retired.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
I say this because the Washington Capitals in the NHL
had to put out a statement today saying no decision
has been made on Alex Ovechkin's future in the NHL.
Now Ovechkin, who very famously broke Wayne Gretzky's career goal
scoring record this spring, now is eight hundred and ninety seven.
There was an email that was sent out. According to

(34:37):
the Capitals quote mistakenly sent by someone in the corporate
sales department that was sent out to season ticket holders
calling next season Ovechkin's last in the NHL.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Did they send out a voice memo with it in
the voice of de caam Babutombo.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
If you get the email. So basically, what I'm sure
this email was is, you know, hey, make sure you
renew come see Ov's last year in the NHL.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Wait wait, he's retiring. Oh wait wait wait.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Wait wait, deadline's coming up. Get your renewals in otherwise
you know you won't have your locked in rate. Whatever
whatever the marketing scheme was there.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
So the Capitals had to put out a statement saying
no decision has been made when obviously a decision has
been made and next year is gonna be Ovechkin's last
in the NHL.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Clearly that why would you have that set up?

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Why would you have that even on a server somewhere
unless you knew what was happening. Why would you put
that out there? Why would you Yeah, let's make sure
we have that that it's going to be. Get ready
to be set to send that out at a moment's
notice to all of our season taken on unless you
knew what was coming.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
I mean, come on, well, I mean you have to
plan for all possibilities of the season ahead, and you
want to be able to capitalize as soon as the
breaking news would hit the wire, right, whether through a
statement of his own through the team or some pesky
NHL insider or fan or whoever you know, at him
at the market, whatever, over a beer that had suddenly

(36:03):
got out that that you could hit, hit send, So
you might have the alternate version there ready, making sure the.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Any version on there. Why do you have any version.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Because you got to send out a note to your
season ticket holders in some capacity.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
But so you have that already said I'm playing another year.
He's already said I'm definitely playing one more year. So
it could just be all you have to do is say, hey,
come watch Alex Ovechkin next year.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
You know, get his nine hundredth gold. Move on.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
He said he's playing right now. This was come watch
in his last seat.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
Well, but that's the break glass in case of emergency
that you know the gravy train is ending, and so
you're gonna try to pump up every opportunity to get
those quick sales, right, You need that money in the bank.
It's like a concert being announced for November right now,
and it's like no, no, no, tickets go on sale Friday,
but the concerts in November.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Naa cat same thing.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
You got, Hey, hey, buy those Ovechkin tickets early, but
you don't send that out. You don't even have that
anywhere near a server that people could get that unless
you know it's there, because you know he's It's not
like he didn't know he was playing. They would be
different if okay, we got it, but this was you
know he's playing. He said I'm coming back next year, right,
Obviously wants to get to nine hundred goals, and quite honestly,
I'm surprised he's not saying I'm gonna do three more years,

(37:17):
because in three years he can get to a thousand goals.
Just think about that. I know, three years sounds really
daunting when you're thirty nine gonna be forty, but he
had forty four goals last year, so let's just say
he scores. You know, if he stays on that forty
goal path, like forty forty like sun by middle of
three years, a thousand goals man. And we've seen players
do this before. In the past. Emmitt Smith went to
the Cardinals, Why so I could put that much more

(37:39):
different a distance between me and whoever's gonna come after
me to break the all time rushing record, Like I
really if I'm Ovechkin, I'm like, yeah, go three more years,
you can get to a thousand goals.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Yes and yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Emmitt Smith went to the wasteland forgetting that what's that
thing you need in front of you? An offensive line
functionittle offense. It doesn't matter if he has twenty one
carries for thirty seven yards. You know that is thirty
seven more yards.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
That's what it is.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Yeah, as you know what, his body hates me. You
know what, one more touchdown, it's one more touchdown.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
It's you get no argument for me. Just it's one
of those famous things. It's like Jerry Rice at the end.
I actually have trading cards picturing him as a Bronco
and as a Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Oh wow, Okay they made cards of them. Didn't play
with them.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
But it's kind of interesting as you go through the
pantheon of legends because we talk about the ones for
the final seasons that went awry, but that didn't happen,
but the Ovechkin things interesting, right, because there's always the
chance no matter what he feels, because he goes one
of two ways. When you're finishing off a big season.
Remember he also had a broken leg, all of that
stuff that you're gonna say.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
At the moment, it's like, boy, I feel great.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
I want to get there, and obviously the stats and
everything are in your head of all these miles, don't.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
You get it?

Speaker 1 (38:48):
And then maybe you get a couple of weeks away
from it, body didn't feel is great. Mentally you're like, hey,
I got some other things going on, family, this, that
the other, and I'm old that. Maybe so you have
the office, you gotta be ready. You gotta be ready
at a moment's o you that ready? You're not playing
a game for another five months. You don't have to
be that ready.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Maybe they were someone that had an hour left in
their shift and they didn't feel comfortable just leaving.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
I'm just gonna put in that it's his last year.
So what else can you do with the Ovekin? Think
you can't leave till five? You're stuck? All right?

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Can you imagine what if he doesn't play?

Speaker 1 (39:26):
Hey, Jimmy, what email did you send out? Yeah, this
is Obi's last year and in the renewde NA, what
are you doing? Like I wonder was there gonna be
a statement at the end? I see, this is what
I'm wondering. Was there gonna be a statement not to
affect with the Stanley Cup Final? Obviously, because you know
the leagues like to get away from that before that.
They'll want to take it away from from the big event.

(39:48):
So which is why the whole a Rod opting out
of his contract during the World Series is a big
thing a few years ago. But like, did they have
it ready that after the Stanley Cup Final is over?
Okin is gonna say this is it for me? Now
we go? And the gun just got jumped with this stuff.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
That's the thing, right, is that you're developing all the
plans and then someone hit from the wrong folder.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Look and see if there's an opening in the Capital
social media department.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Social media skills need to send out correct emails.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
What does anything else? That's the only skill you need
to send out correct email.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
First response is paid social media marketing lead for Texas
Capital Bank.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Second second thing is don't be stupid.
