Speaker 1 (00:51):
Check out a brand new channel on YouTube. Just search
Jason Smith's Show and subscribe. Mike and I love putting
this content out for you every single goal night. Well,
I gotta tell you we're going back to nineteen ninety three,
the last time we saw this happen. The Toronto Blue
Jays are headed to the World Series. The Blue Jays

(01:11):
win it four to three over the Mariners. The Mariners
go out one, two, three. In the ninth, cal Rally
was on deck. They did not get to him, as
Jay Rod as the final out. Blue Jays are celebrating
on the field right now, and George Springer is your hero.
Three run homer for the Blue Jays and the seventh

(01:32):
inning gives them a four to three lead. They hold
on to win. So now Game one of the World
Series in Canada, in Toronto on Friday night, Blue Jays
and the Dodgers get going in four days.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Long time ago was too nothing the other way heading
back to Seattle, and uh, that's predestined.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Hold on, hold my beer, as the kids would say,
two home runs each. Springer the big blow and then
Julio Rodriguez with a full count waves it a pitch
way off the plate. Yeah, to finish this one off. Look,
we'll get to the Blue Jays in a second. But
for the Mariners, it's you just feel because this is

(02:16):
a team that goes into Toronto wins the first two
comes home, the series should be over right, I mean
this is a huge historically, this is a huge choke
by the Mariners, right because you're going, Okay, you win
the first two games, and you go on the road. Okay,
series is still going or something, but you win the
first two on the road. Even though Major League Baseball

(02:37):
has the the home.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Field has the smallest impact of all the big games,
right because you see the way officiating and the way
bench plays in in the NBA, and and and clearly
the way officiating of things happen in the NFL. But
it's still you're going home up to Zip.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
And and that should be it. Man. You just gotta win.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
You gotta win two out of the out of the
next five, and you play three of those games at home.
You play the next three even if you drop one. Okay,
well we dropped one, No, they dropped the first two.
Like this, I mean, this is where for Seattle, Like
Seattle fans are gonna say, okay, now every day they
get to wake up and think, we really should have
given the ball to Marshall on the goal line. And

(03:18):
now they got to think, we came home up two
Zip in the ALCS and we couldn't find a way
to close it down to go to the World Series.
We couldn't find a way to do that. Every day
Seattle fans wake up just like ground, wake up, hit
the alarm clock ding.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
They hear I got you bag with Sonny and chare
ding ding, and they gona, I got you hold me tight?
Oh Cheveaula Marshaan can't believe we blew a two zip
league going home? Yep, now we got a new one
to make it on the metal stand. Fourth time in
twenty eight series in Major League Baseball history that a
team's come back from two to zero after dropping those

(03:51):
first two games at home. So somewhat historic, which is
the way it has to be, considering the way the
Dodgers finished off the Brewers on Friday night in the
sho Heyo Tani Game of Games, that it comes to this,
And and for Dodger fans, I know they're already starting
to tweet a lot about who hit that home run

(04:11):
to send them to the World Series. An old friend
in George Springer.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah, we're not gonna hear it for a while because
they got to edit it and take the garbage can
banging out of the beginning.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah, that's gonna be a real thing.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
That's gonna make people think the homann wasn't like a
thin Yeah yeah, yeah, think you hit it without that.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
I know, I thought somebody just yelled, you know, I
thought somebody just yelled out the pitch to him. He
who's it? It's a fast ball? You know, stop with
that one. Well, I mean you could do the way
Aaron Judge was doing on the base paths and and
give all sorts of jet hand gestures and stuff about
the pitch that to come. I mean, this is really tough.
I mean, you think about a whole city sports fans

(04:47):
that think about those two things. You gotta be honest.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
You can't come home and lose a sit like I
almost felt like did Seattle lose focus? Like they came
home almost like it was going to be a party atmosphere,
like Hey, we're coming home and we're just gonna go
out there and the Blue Jays are gonna roll over.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
And they didn't.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Right, I mean that like that, That's that's something where
you have to look back and go if you're not
gonna win, if you're not gonna go to the World Series,
when you come home after winning the first two games,
when are you gonna go?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
When are you gonna go win?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Right?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
When do you when? When's hell, no, we didn't do
it there, But there's been when are you gonna go
to the world still waiting for that first appearance. Then
now they went back in game one, three to one, victory,
Game two ten three, Okay, demoralizing, right, did but then
you give up a total of what do we got?
Twenty one runs in the next two games? And those
bats came alive. Uh you saw it in game six

(05:40):
and now here here we are. It's just absolutely insane.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Uh again, just moments ago the Toronto Blue Jays going
to the World Series. They beat Seattle for to three,
and I gotta tell you this story, right, okay, because
this is this is crazy.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Now.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
I remember I told you about my h the night
of the National Championship game in college football that one
of my best friends, his brother in law, that the
family lost everything in the in the Palisades fires, and
he had that bet. He made this four legged parlay
bet in the beginning, in the beginning of last so
the beginning of last year, not like the beginning, so
like in the spring of last year. He bet like

(06:16):
a like an English Premier League game and something else,
something else, and he bet Notre Dame winning the National championship,
like he bet that in like April, right, and that
was the last leg. I came all the way down
to the end and Notre Dame loses, you know, but
he he could have won like like fifty thousand dollars, right,
it was a whole big thing. He's got another bet.
He made another bet this year, and the last thing

(06:37):
is a blue Jay is.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Winning the world. I'm not lying to it. I'm not
lying to it.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
I mean I can't go I go over He's I
gotta know what his I gotta know what his bet
is now, Like before you got to tell me this.
You can't just tell me this like in the middle
of the summer. Well, but if he told you.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
In the middle of summer, you's still have plenty of
time to get on board because the East was a mesa.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
But it was pretty good.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
But that point though, I'm not I'm like, Okay, you're
got getting monsterized, but you're still getting You're still profiting. No,
you hit it big. Best bet right now is the
cash out? Oh absolutely, hundred percent? Yeah, yeah, but but
it's the older world. Thumb is is a dime worth
worth Mortian. If you know it's a sure thing bet,
you know, two dollars to two ten is it worth

(07:20):
the press?

Speaker 1 (07:21):
And it was a crazy bet. It was what it
was like those like I bet something. I think he
bet something like with Wrexham, and I think he bet
something in like in like the NWSL because he's a
big he's a big soccer guy. Then he did something
in football and then the Blue Jays going like going
to the World Here, it's like in the spring, he
bet the Blue Jays is the last leg and I'm like, okay. Now,
I'm like, okay, I want to know what he's betting

(07:42):
the beginning of the year. What's that last leg? Because
if the last leg was last spring, no tre Dame
winning the National Championship, getting that close, and now the
Blue Jay is getting to the World Series. Now it's like, dude,
you got come on here. Whatever he decides next spring,
you tell me and I take all is always college
money and put it on that last leg.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Bet bet bet bet bet bet bet bet. All Right,
we'll keep an eye on what the Well Series odds
will be for the World Series here as we move forward.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Now, before we get to that, I mean, I want
to say this because I was really upset tonight because
I thought I had a great stat for Steve De Sager.
I had a Sarah langstat the great researcher Sarah langs
and you're Steve sad that is uh, that is her
working title. Yeah, the Mets just celebrated her at the
end of the year. That had a big day for
her at one of the games. Is awesome, beloved baseball figure.
For those unawares, I I heard an incredible Sarah langstat

(08:34):
on the way into work, and I go, I'm gonna
come in.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I walk in. I walk into Steve De Saga's Upstate
Update studio like the you know the Vince McMahon gifts
when he's walking in like it or LeVar ball walk. Oh, like, hey,
I got the best Sarah Lang stat for you major
League Baseball wise. You want it now, I'm going to
tell you when we go on the air. He goes, oh, no, no,
save it for the air. Save it for the I okay,
he goes. He says, are you sure I don't know it?
I go, well, I just heard it. He goes, okay.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
I said, have you gotten any good Sarah langstats in
the last twenty four hours? He goes, oh, well, just
the one and he puts his hands out and I go,
it's the same stat you know it, and clearly he did.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Because think about this. Can you start waving at the
air like he was Doctor Strange and something one A
fourteen million we win? Right? Tell me this is the one? Uh?
Is that you think about this?

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Because Frostburg here, obviously your bet is to cash out
at this point, right, because I think he can win
like like forty grand with this bet if it makes
it through, So we can cash.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Out for whatever it is to get a decent return. Right.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Dodgers be overwhelming favorites, right, they line up their pitching staff,
everybody gets rest, right, and you got snell Yamamoto and
Glassnow and Otani. Four times in Major League Baseball history
has one league championship series had to sweep and the
other one go to seven games? Okay, four times since
since the LCSs have gone to seven games. Okay since

(09:47):
so we're talking about modern baseball. It's been a long time,
but that's been going on. So four times one league
had to sweep, one league went to seven games. Right,
So what do we have this year? Dodgers sweep the Brewers,
Blue Jay's beat the marri seven all four times. All
four times the team that went seven games won the

(10:08):
World Series stat including the Dodgers back in nineteen eighty eight.
Right right, that great? I'm like, thanks for bringing that up. Yeah, great,
because I don't have to remember that the Mets gacking
that away to the Dodge, the greatest Dodger year ever.
But all four times the Blue that the team that
won seven and one and seven won the World Series.
So clearly that history in math is on the Blue

(10:29):
Jay side right now? Well, you know us, we love
math here, even if it's a little bit fuzzy.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
How to get on board? Plus one eighty are the
Blue Jays to win the series? At one point? You
could have gotten them to win the AL at thirty
to one. Now, I will say this about that stat. Right,
the World Series is not starting until Friday. There's gonna
be a long time out. Dodgers have a week off,
but the Blue Jays are gonna have a decent amount

(10:55):
of time off. This is not gonna be one day
and then we played the next game. The schedule was
much more condensed back then. Now they don't care if
we're finishing in November. Hey, they're ruining Friday night football
for the high school.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
How dare they're.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Finishing in November. We don't care. Look, I tell you
the big, big Beano cook line. He always to tell me.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
One day they're gonna be playing Game seven of the
World Series on Thanksgiving and it's gonna be on opposite
the Cowboys, and nobody's gonna watch those is always a
big line games, right, Like the schedule to finish in November, right,
this kids, the world tens art till Friday. That blunts
whatever momentum the Blue Jays are gonna bring into the
World Series, because at the last time, thing you want

(11:32):
to do after seven games is we want a day off. No,
we want it, we want we want time off, we
want a day then we want to play game one.
We're feeling great, right, Vlad Guerrero has twenty hits in
the playoffs, He's hitting five hundred in the playoffs. Right,
everybody is hitting well, they're all they're all crushing the ball.
The last thing they want is three days off and

(11:52):
then you're home for game one. Okay, I get it,
you're home for Game one and that's great, but that's
the last thing you want. So I the momentum that
they have coming in coming off of this and the
Dodgers rust versus Uh being able to play that blunts it.
So the only thing I kept thinking about the Dodgers. Boy,
they're gonna get a bounce a little bit in the
World Series. They're pitching X, Y, and Z, and I

(12:13):
know it's gonna become a fashionable pick to pick the
Blue Jays. But with those three days off and obviously
the Dodgers needing that rest, they're starting pitching now can
go as long as you need him to go. Yeah,
it's hard for me to see where I can see
the Blue Jays coming in with all that momentum, especially
the way Blake Snell is pitching, because of all the
Dodgers pitchers, the guy I think is most October proof

(12:34):
to hey, have a bad game. I could see Glasstow
having a bad game. I could see Yamamoto having a
bad game.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
I can start you.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
I can see Otan look as great as otanis. I
could see Otani have a ban. Is there any way
I can see Blake Snell not coming in Friday night
and just throwing absolute bebies.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
No, I can't see that. So, yeah, you want to
look at the way for the Blue Jays. Hard for
me to see that. Yeah, we'll keep an eye on,
uh the the odds as they roll through, but those
early series odds are out there. But you know, when
we talk about momentum, the you know, ride the wave,
winners of four or five. But the Dodgers were cruising
along even without their big bats really coming through in

(13:12):
big spots uh Otani obviously with the giant punctuation mark
in the Championship Series. But it's all the reset, right,
It's the next pitcher up and what they have on
a given day is all that matters. What we've seen
from Blake Snell since he was activated mid season. It's
one of the great advantages to where the Dodgers are.

(13:32):
Some of these guys have very fresh arms and hopefully
for Dave Roberts, you don't have to go to the
Bengo card of the bullpen. Management too often.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Exit outbout a Fresco exit swollen dome. The Blue Jays
are into the World Series. How did the final out
sound with Jay Rod waving at that breaking pitch out
of the strike zone. It sounded like this on the
Blue Jays radio network.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Gold count two outs, top of the nine team seven
of the Alcs Hawkins payoff pitches, win the pennects.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
The Blue Tays win the Pennects. They're going to the
World Series. It's so good we.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Must between man looks a lot of Blue.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Jays bum knock the murders and they will take on
the l A Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
So there was the Blue Jays are going. The party
is happening right now on the field in Toronto. Now
you have three days to take a look at a
very blue world series. Blue will be everything blue and
white and a tiny bit of red like that's that's
what Okay, that's that's the colors.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Any chance one of them. Unveils are really ridiculous, and
by ridiculous, I mean really cool alternate uniform like a.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Glow in the dark whatever show ha Tani designs for
the World series. The Dodgers one ically does no.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
I can dig that. That's how it's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
It's gonna be in there instead of the Dodgers logo
it's gonna be decoy on the front.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
I'd buy that jersey. It's gonna be decoy.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
But in the Dodgers font with the you know, the
ballgoag just the D, the big D and the decoy
exit out, a bout of Fresca exit Swollen Dome. The
party just beginning in Toronto. We'll have more on this story.
Wanted to bring you that uh breaking development right there
as it happened, but straight ahead. Coming off of Monday
night football again fourteen to nothing lead for the Seahawks,
Lions win earlier over the Bucks. At this point in

Well here we are right now, just before halftime. It
is still a fourteen nothing lead for the Seahawks over
the Texans. Look, this is our fourteen three leaders. I
just got that feal goal, you know, they got that.
The possession up fourteen nothing and dominating from pillar to post.

(18:01):
Let's have a wide receiver pass with Cooper Cup. Yeah
maybe they just felt bad that Cooper Cup? Is you
only catching like one pass a game? Let's hear do something.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Let's get involved. Come on.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
So again.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Fourteen to three, Seattle with the lead two minutes ago
before halftime. It has been an absolute horrendous night so
far for the Texans. They don't even have one hundred
yards of offense. This is very Jets like.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Uh ninety five for you huh yeah, yeah, Hey, that's
about today. More yards passing the week with Chase and
these are positive. Oh I'm sorry the positive Oh oh,
never mind it. So look here we are coming off
on Monday Night football and week seven, we're getting into
the midway part of the season. And since so many
people wanted to have this conversation and say, oh, the

(18:47):
Chase might be the best team, and they ask you, Okay,
they're not. That's a load of crap. Let's do this.
If you said right now, why why wait? Why he's
so dismissing though not because they're not. They're not the best.
Who's better in the as I'll tell you team that's better.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
But let's deal with the NFCO because the NFC is
easier because I have all the different things I can
ask you. I can ask one question that's going to
make you go, yeah, you're right. The Lions are the
best team in the AFC, NFC. If you are doing
power rankings, the Lions are the best Tampa. They beat
Tampa tonight. Clearly they turn Tampa Bay and Baker Mayfield
h team that looked like you would know they could

(19:20):
have been the best team coming into this game. The
Eagles have problems. They maybe started solving a little bit
of them yesterday, a little bit knowing, hey, we got
to throw the football a little bit more than we expected.
Saquon Barkley is not going to ride to our rescue.
The Rams are certainly up there, right the Rams. They
go on the crowd about road game, they go to London,
they dominate the Jaguars, who had been red hot the

(19:42):
Rams against Well, I got the Rams in the NFC
Championship game. But right now, the Lions are the best team.
Because I ask you this, it's very simple. You've seen
them play tonight. You saw the knight Jamiir Gibbs had tonight.
You saw the night the Lions defense had. If I
said to you, okay, neutral field, right, not any neutral field?
What team in the NFC do you want your team

(20:03):
to play against? The least who If you could say, okay,
I'll play any team, but I can get rid of
one out of that list, it's the Lions.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Is that neutral field indoors or whether it's not a
face that's a question for Jared guns either, or it's
it's it's a nice outdoor day where it's just a.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Tight Yeah, no, not hot at all, hanging out in Cleveland. No, no, No,
one o'clock in Miami game in September.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
No, no, no.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
If you had to say neutral field, what team would
you least want to play against needing a win? The
answer is the Lions. Because the Lions offense is the
best offense in the NFL. It scares you more than
anybody else. There's so many weapons you have to try
to stop. It's a headache for everyone. Clearly.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Other teams are all really good too, But you know, okay,
the Philadelphia Eagles passing game is not overwhelming. They can't
run the football like they used to. The Rams are
really good everywhere, but are they that great?

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Right?

Speaker 1 (20:56):
The defense is fantastic, can we hold down their offense enough?
As Karen Williams, really that good?

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Can you know?

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Is DeVante Adams still have a lot left? Even Pukinakua
is dinged up now a little bit. Where can they
go to with the football? All these teams are really good, man,
They're all really good, but nobody has the Lions have,
especially now that you see defensively how ball hawkish they are.
They're in the top five and turnovers this year. It's
a better unit overall than it was a year ago.

(21:22):
Maybe they have a bit of a chip on their
shoulder something to prove. Hey, our coordinators left because they
thought they were having life better away from us. Now, granted,
Ben Johnson Aaron Glenn left to be head coaches, So yeah,
anybody would do that. But it doesn't matter. It's the
old Michael Jordan. Whatever you need to to have any
sort of inspiration. And clearly the Lions are playing the offensively.
They're playing the way when they played the Bears. They
wanted to bury Ben Johnson in the dirt in that game.

(21:45):
Oh you left us to go to the to go
into the division. Well, okay, it was the best job.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
We don't care.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Okay, it doesn't matter. It doesn't make sense. And you
see the defense playing the same way now. They are
much more aggressive than they were. Yes, a healthy Aiden
Hutchinson helps a lot, and maybe they have more help
on the way because this is a team that can
make a trade for defensive player. I've heard a lot
of Hey, if Trey Hendrickson is not going to be
on the Bengals, but maybe the Bengals can win more games.
But hey, maybe they're gonna have another bit on their
defensive line to help out the pass rush a little bit.

(22:12):
The team you want to play against the least in
the NFC is the Lions.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Yeah, the next couple of weeks will be interesting to
watch as the trade winds blow. We've already seen a
couple of moves and Flacco going to the Bengals not
to jump to the AFC. But since you open that door,
I got to think that you're you're looking around the
division going why not us? Based on what you did?
I mean, won a big game against Pittsburgh. They're no
great shakes. Everybody stinks, right, the division is there to

(22:37):
be head Baltimore struggling. Maybe Lamar Jackson's back this week
against Chicago. Maybe he's not there. They've been a team
long rumored to be maybe divesting of assets as well.
But I look at the Lions and you look at balance.
Right when you got Gibbs, you still have Montgomery there
again step throwing the ball with him, but you've got
aman Ross.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
I think Ben Johnson called that play he broke in
any and he had some way to channel and say, hey,
let's run that play with damn.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
That sounded like Ben in the headset. Yea, I don't
know what that was coach. I have no IDEA little
possession kind of thing. Maybe you learned a spell or
two watching some Marry Potter films. I don't know, but
all of that today you got balance and as long
as that defensive front stays healthy like today, they dominated,
and we talked about the Baker Mayfield struggles downfield, you
saw Whiteside and those cornerbacks do just a great job.

(23:27):
They played without Branch, who you would argue is their
best in the back seven. We talked to Jack Campbell
earlier talking about coming off of that Chiefs game, it's like,
next up. I mean, you can't cry about it. That
was a tough game for them, and they came back
and played really well. Now are they helped by the
fact that Tampa Bay those guys just got introduced to
each other in a lot of cases, sure, but next

(23:49):
man up, it's an NFL game and you go and
you dominate as they did. Fantastic effort. Yeah, I'd be
loath to bet against them right now.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
And that thing is and that's why everybody should be
scared of the Lions right now, because nobody's surprised the Lions.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
Won this game. But if you said, okay, Tampa Bay
and Seattle Monday night. Lions. Wait, yeah, Lions went thirty eight,
thirty one, thirty four, twenty.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Shoot kind of thing. Baker's gonna score, Lions are gonna score. No,
this was Baker Mayfield looked absolutely awful.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Miss He was terrible.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
And this tells you that the defense was in his
head because at some point you calm down, you make
the throws. But the fact that he's throwing, he's overthrowing everything,
He's sailing the ball like, that's what should scare everybody's.
The Lions defensively put this kind of effort out there
on tape, going, whoa, this is an offense that was unstopped.
Regardless to who. Baker Mayfield throwing the football too? Right, Well,
you could say, well, Mike Evans got hurt tonight he

(24:44):
was out. Yet, well, I guess what. He didn't have
Mike Evans when he's been putting up all kinds of
numbers so far. Uh, you didn't have Chris guy, hasn't
had Chris Godwin for a while.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
He turned Tess Johnson into a guy tonight and he
still overthrew him a couple of times. That's what should
scare everybody about the line.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
But that's a big spot, right is you know, when
talking about Whiteside, we talked about the corners doing a
good job, but there were opportunities. There were open receivers
that he missed that if you go back through the
first six weeks of the season, those are easy, all right,
just they're running free to the end zone and you
had a booka available to you tonight. It was a
lot of question of whether he'd be there for this game. Now,

(25:19):
did you have, as we talk with Jason locking for
an hour ago, did you have a couple of calls
that went against you that might be really eyebrow raising.
You know, I was always told and every broadcast and
rules analysts said, Ty goes to the receiver. Now all
of a sudden, it's a well you know what, that
guy had more of the ball. It's like no, no, no, no.

(25:40):
Now you know, we're changing the we're changing the rules
of engagement here and now all of a sudden, that's pick.
So you just have that level of curiosity to it.
But they did a great job tonight. The defense rose
up in a big spot, and for the second half
of the season, Yeah, they're They're quite the challenge now
for the AFC.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
People are just making this way more difficult than it
has to be, right, they're making it way more difficult. Oh,
maybe the Chiefs are the best. Yes, the Chiefs got
Rishi Rice back. Yes, they played the Raiders. The Raiders
are absolutely terrible. Okay, you can't ignore what's happened up
until this point where they could have won games. May
out right, thirty first things okay for the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Right, things are okay for the Chiefs? Are they the best?

Speaker 1 (26:23):
The Colts are the best team in the AFC, and
that shouldn't even be a debate. They should be undefeated
the way they came in this weekend and ran roughshot
over that Chargers defense. This is a team that is
second in the league in yardage and they lead the
league in points. I get that people didn't want to
believe in the Colts and now and it's Daniel Jones.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Is this?

Speaker 3 (26:44):
But what did I tell you? Why?

Speaker 1 (26:45):
I told you, hey, hopefully you got the Colts a
plus ten thousand when I told you in the spring
Colts dark horse super Bowl team. Daniel Jones will fit
right into this offense and win the job over Anthony Richardson.
This might wind up being my best Bowl prediction ever.
If this comes true with the Colts, you bet it?
I mean, no, I should I should have. Well, it's
kind of tough if I tell Pam, Hey, I do
really well on bold predictions. So I'm betting money on it.

(27:06):
So that's one meal you don't go out for. It's
a couple of sandwiches.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Listen, we're not eating tonight. Why because I made a battle.
But at that odds, literally in California, at that point,
that's that's a you know, a box launch at Keyne's return,
How else is he supposed to get to the ballpit?

Speaker 1 (27:23):
Yeah, I've gotta get out here. You think, man, I
could have bought a McDonald's. But look, I told you
in the se plus plus ten thousand, Yes, dark Horse team.
They have all the weapons you need offensively, and look
at what they did. They bring in Tyler Warren who
already has become a top five tight end in the NFL. Right,
he's coming right away and show him. Boy, Maybe he's

(27:43):
the next Travis Kelsey. Whether Josh Downs plays or not,
does him mat Alec Pierce has a huge game, right,
he has one big game every six weeks. He's been
doing that for like, time doesn't matter, doesn't matter, Jonathan Taylor,
people forget about him once upon a time, the best
running back in the NFL, having the best overall season
of a running back in the NFL again now in
his peak years. Like, this team is terrific and they

(28:05):
shut down the Chargers offense enough, Chargers have problems offensively.
They should be getting all backs soon, which should make
things much much better for them. Maybe they make a
deal for alignment too. I think they had to get
really active as far as that goes to the deadline.
But overall, like, you can't deny this how good this
Colts team is. And again, if Adni Mitchell doesn't decide
to you know, I'm gonna drop the football before I

(28:26):
cross the goal line. This is an undefeated Colts team.
And not anywhere have I heard, Oh yeah, Colts are
the best team. In the end, the Colts are the
best team.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Well, there's a couple of things that go with it, though, right,
I mean, it's always the when you have a moment
like that, it tends to galvanize a squad. Do we
know they're necessarily undefeated? Is do we get the refolk.
I don't know if they win that game either way,
but ifs and butts right, I mean game game to game,
it's a huge swing play. Though you're talking no, I'm

(28:53):
not saying it's not. But you win that game doesn't
mean you're necessarily still running the table going forward. One
of the things that's been the knock, and part of
it is Daniel Jones history is people just don't want
to believe. But the other is, I mean, we look
at the schedule. One of their wins is against the Raiders.
One of their wins is against the Cardinals, where they
struggled against the Cardinals, a team that we thought was

(29:14):
gonna be good, they're not. And just go on down
the line.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Again, best offense in the ANFC, maybe the best offensive
them and the Cowboys, two best offenses in the league.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Chargers that that defense is Sorry, I looked ordinary of late.
So you got a lot going on as you roll through,
but certainly I'm not gonna dismiss them. Right, it's a
one two race and now at full strength and now
it's the sprint towards the back end of this season.
But looking at Mahomes and what this offense now has

(29:45):
been what are they averaging thirty points a game in
their last four? Suddenly it gets that much more interesting
for the second half. But yeah, I love what the
Colts have done, no question about it. And they were
certainly a team that we were on board. I'm team
Danny Dimes, going back to thinking he got a raw
deal in New York and I think I stood alone

(30:06):
and a fierce wind on that one time.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Now to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports from special delivery Steve de Sager, who was
pouring champagne over his head right now to celebrate a
team in blue and white with a little bit of
red going to the World Series. Oh wait, that's the
Blue Jays, not the Dodgers. Sorry about that.

Speaker 6 (30:24):
This is actually not great dues for the Dodgers. The
World Series will open in Canada on Friday night on
Fox TV with the Blue Jays hosting the La Dodgers,
who took care of their LCS in a sweep Game
seven in Toronto of the Alcs went to the Blue Jays,
eliminating Seattle for three. George Springer a three run homer
in the seventh cheeter off, losing reliever Edward Bozardo, who

(30:47):
allowed the home run to the first batter he faced.
The save to Jeff Hoffman with three straight strikeouts in
the ninth Series MVP Vladimir Guerrero Junior. By the way,
stat from the great Sarah Langs. In the last five
years of these winner take all postseason ballgames, have we
had a go ahead home run seventh inning or later
in these? The answer is we've had one, and that

(31:09):
was Pete Alonzo in the wild Card series last year.
The Dodgers did have a workout at the stadium with
the American League game on in the background up on
the scoreboard. By the way, LA would have had home
field advantage if Seattle was the opponent. So why are
the Dodgers going on the road. This is why because
in the regular season Dodgers had ninety three wins, Toronto

(31:32):
had ninety four.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
In August in inter.

Speaker 6 (31:35):
League play, the Dodgers hosted Toronto for a weekend series.
Clayton Kershaw to beat him on the Friday, Blakesnell beat
him on the Saturday. Dodgers were going for the sweep
Sunday afternoon, and the Dodger bullpen, which was so horrendous
down the stretch blew the game, giving up two homers
in the eighth and one in the ninth. Toronto took

(31:55):
that game and finished with one more win than LA.
The World Series opens in Canada on Friday, with Game
two on Saturday night. All the games will start at
about eight pm Eastern time. There are two NFL games tonight,
including halftime at Seattle. Seahawks leading fourteen to six over
the Houston Texans. Sam Darnold with a touchdown pass of

(32:17):
eleven yards to Jackson Smith in Jigba, a couple of
second quarter field goals for a Kaimi fairbairon of the
Texans for their only scoring so far. Bad news for
Tampa Bay not only a loss tonight, but wide receiver
Mike Evans was injured again. He just returned tonight after
the hamstring problem, but left in the second quarter on
the road this evening after a hard landing on a

(32:39):
deep pass. Concussion and a shoulder injury was the initial thought.
His coach says afterwards, it's a broken collarbone and Mike
Evans will miss most of the rest of the season.
Twenty four to nine. Detroit wins five and two record
for the Lions five and two for Tampa Bay. This
means those Colts have the best record around by the way.

(33:00):
Mer Gibbs seventeen carries one hundred and thirty six yards
for the Lions and two scores plus three receptions for
eighty two yards. Washington says quarterback Jaden daniels hamstring injury
is not significant, but they don't know if he'll play
next Monday at Kansas City. The Nuggets gave Christian Brown
a five year extension, Atlanta gave Dyson Daniels a four

(33:21):
year extension. Today was the deadline for those extensions for
the twenty twenty two draftees. Most NBA teams start Wednesday,
but the NBA's regular season does begin with two games
on Tuesday. Kevin Durant on Sunday, for example, signed an
extension with the Rockets one year plus an option at
Houston's at Oklahoma City in Tuesday's league opener. The Mavericks

(33:41):
picked up the fourth year option on Derek Lively. Purdue
guard Braden Smith leads the AP preseason All American Team
and his club is preseason number one, and the United
States will bid to co host the Women's World Cup
in twenty thirty one. That'll be their first tournament with
forty eight teams in the field. Games would also be
held in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Jamaica, but we assume

(34:02):
most in the US there is no competing bid. Brazil
will be hosting the Women's World Cup of twenty twenty seven.

the NFL. Remember again, we had a double Monday night game,
and thankfully we didn't have a game where we were
able to see the first Monday Night game and that
basically ended into the second Monday Night game.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
If you're gonna do it, do it that way.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
Halftime right now, Seahawks lead the Texans fourteen to six,
getting a field goal right before halftime made it a
one score game. It feels like a game that the
Seahawks have been dominating the entire time, yet it's still
only a one score game, so clearly anybody's game here
in the second half of More on this coming up
in a few minutes, but look, the biggest game of

(35:49):
the weekend and everybody's still buzzing off the Giants collapse
at the end in the fourth quarter against the Broncos,
blowing that nineteen point lead. Teams what two and one,
seven and forty two with the certain community, Yes, thank you.
I mean a thirty three point fourth quarter for the Broncos.

(36:09):
It's an insane way that the Giants blew this game,
and Brian Dable had to say today, no coaching changes.
We're gonna stick with what we had. Certainly, there's lots
of things to complain about. The team didn't like the
first play call on the final drive for the Broncos
that allowed the Broncos to get near midfield. There's a
lot of blame to go all right, Jackson Dart threw

(36:30):
a bad pick and the Giants are throw in the football.
There's lots of not just one person blew this gamer.
You can blame Dable, you can blame the DV you
can blame Jackson Dart, all of this stuff. But I'm
gonna tell you this kickers blame the kicker. I'll I'll
be quite honest with you. This loss is irrelevant.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
This blown loss.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
By the first of all, I love the fact that
a team other than the Jets can lose like this,
Cause I told you New York football team is going
to blow a nineteen point lead in the fourth quarter,
something that's never happened before in the history of the game.
You'd say, oh, what did the Jets do this time?

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Give me that story.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Now the Giants did this?

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Ah haha, Giant.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
The Giants clearly have a little bit more hope this
year because Jackson Dart has turned out to be really
good right away? Right okay, But this loss, as bad
as it is, is this gonna change the course of
the season. Is this gonna change the course of the
NFC where the Giant's gonna suddenly jump up and be
a great No, they weren't, right. It's irrelevant because the
most important thing is Jackson Dart is bleeping for real.

(37:29):
This kid is everything the Giants expected him to be.
It's everything I saw this summer when I'm stunned that
he didn't win the job right away over Russell Wilson.
But they must have decided, well, let's let's leve Russell
Wilson get a chance here.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
I told you Dart was gonna be good right away.
He's even better than I thought. His decision making his
his fearlessness in the pocket, he reminds me of kind
of on the field, only because clearly after the game's
the game ended, his career went in a different way.
But I would say like he's an on the field
reminds me of Brett Farr, kind of a two point
zero Farve, where, Hey, there's no throw I can't make,

(38:04):
there's no situation I can't get us out of, and
the team follows him on the field. He's full attached. Look,
he's winning without his best receiver, one of the best
receivers in the NFL E league neighbors out for the year,
doesn't matter, He's still putting up points. Right, Cam skataboo
Is is just an okay running back Like he's he's
a cult hero and someone who clearly is going to
sell a lot of jerseys and bring excitement to the team.

(38:26):
But this is a Jackson Dart driven team and this
is and that's kind of what he reminds me of,
is that energy on the field like the Packers had
when they had Brett Farv, like he would able to
do making plays, making throws. Didn't think he'd be able
to put it in that tight window. Guess what he
was able to do. That that's the most important thing.
The Giants have found their quarterbacks for the next decade.
That's almost a point that you can scratch out off

(38:47):
the list. They got their guy. Meanwhile, other teams are
going moy A lot of the other teams had their
chance of Jackson Dart, they didn't take him, and the
Giants are now reaping the benefits of Jackson Dart. Clearly, again,
I shake my head and go whatever the Giants need
to just fall into it. It just they could fall
into a big hole, a thirty foot hole, and land
on a pile of money and be fine. Like that's
the Giants, That's how it works out.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
As a guy that defended everything from Joe Shane except
for that dreaded phone call that was put in the
hard knocks, he won again, he got it right and
he got a folk hero in Scatabos as a sidecard
to this all and no, they are important though, like
these are games when you got a coach that you're
still trying to decide and maybe it's more the outside

(39:29):
world than in the building of whether he stays or goes.
The fact that you finished. Now they still scored thirteen
points in the fourth quarter, like it was one of
the most ridiculous fifteen minutes of football were would to see.
We thought we saw craziness on Thursday with Flacco and
Rogers winging it around. No, we got more of the
saying that fourth quarter was insane again. Kickers, yeah, kickers,

(39:52):
two pats that go to the wayside, but the defense
suddenly can't get a stop and they make bo Nicks
looked like just a guy for three quarters. He even
talked about it. He goes, I was really thinking about
how I was gonna have to talk about being shut
out and what my response is gonna be.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
So glad we didn't get to that.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
Now, that might have been something he concocted on the
way to the interview desk. We'll never know, but it
was a good quip. Nonetheless. But you know, when you've
got a team on the mat, you know, get the
pin man, you gotta finish the job, you know sometime,
but yes, you're excitable about what's to come.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
But yeah, the games get too long sometimes when you
have a team, when you're putting up that kind of
defensive shutout, when you don't score enough points, when you
feel like, okay, we feel good where we're at. When
you keep giving the other team the football, they're going
to find a way to score. It's the NFL. You
can't give them infinite possessions because even a team getting
shut out to three quarters, unless the Jets, they continue

(40:48):
to get shut out, but most teams would find a
way to say, hey, okay, we are going to find
a way to score here and get back in this game.
Now another three points. So the touchdown which the Giant
should have probably been able to put up on the
board against them, that would have been the game, and
that would have taken care of a lot of things.
So that's the main thing is I saw, you know,
you keep giving them chances. I still don't think the
comeback would come all the way here, but I'm not

(41:09):
surprised that Broncos made a game of it in the
fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
Yeah, I mean you just look at the way the
way they'd operated through the first three quarters. That an
interception was terrible, But I mean that's a that's a
rookie quarterback against a good deal here to forore good defense.
They made them look average for a while, right, So
that's one of those things I think for Sean Payton,
and he certainly earned his penalty, getting on the field

(41:32):
and everything late and the in the game. But all
of that to say they've got some things to clean up.
But for Jackson Dart, you've seen another star in the making. Sorry, buddy,
he's there to haunt you. Exit out about a Fresca
exit swollen dome coming up next. You want to talk
about another superstar in the making, We got it for you. Next.
